Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, Ryan Lemon here local teller leaders KSR postgame show.
I am like each and every one of you listening
right now. You may be driving home from the game,
you may be stuck in traffic, you may be up
at home and you can't go to sleep for what
you just saw. And I am like each and every
(00:21):
one of you, asking myself, what in the heck is
going on? What in the world has happened to our
football team? And if you just heard Mark Stoops, he's
not sure either. If you just heard Dick Gabriel and
(00:42):
Jeff Piccarl and Tom Leach, they're not sure either. Something
has happened to our football team that I still believe
is the most talent Mark Stoops has had since he's
been here on one team. But how can you lose
(01:02):
with his now seven straight SEC home games, seventh straight,
oh and four this year SEC home games, and you
are now in your last thirteen SEC home games two
and eleven. I don't know, man, I don't know what
(01:25):
has happened. I'm upset, I'm mad, I'm disappointed, I'm embarrassed.
I'm I'm embarrassed that these this this three game stretch. Well,
let's let's back it up a little more. You went
down and you beat ole miss on the road and
(01:47):
held them to half of their six hundred yard average.
You held them to around three hundred yards of offense.
Since then, you let Vandy man handle you. They punked
you on your own field. You went down to Florida
and you stunk it up against a struggling Florida team.
(02:13):
And then here comes Auburn that's been struggling, one of
the worst records in the SEC, and they ran all
over you. Your first three possessions, you hold them. Defense
held for three and out on the first possession, right
(02:34):
then they got the interception by Waller and then turnover
on downs on the third position. So Auburn's first three
possessions defense looks awesome. Three and out, an interception, turnover
on downs. After that they start handing the ball to
the Hunter guy. You couldn't stop him. Your defense that
(03:01):
everybody's been bragging on that I got fussed at today
on the pregame show and I said, I don't know
why we're patting his defense on the back here. Lately,
they fell apart and could not stop runner jark Quz Hunter,
who now has the most rushing yards against Kentucky in
(03:22):
the history of CommonWell Stadium slash Croger Field. It's not
herschel Walker, it's not Bo Jackson, it's not George Rogers,
it's not Emmitt Smith. It's Jark Quas Hunter ran for
two hundred and seventy eight yards most ever at Kroger
Field and Auburn on I'm just go to some of
(03:48):
the defense, just for a minute. Auburn major defense look horrible.
I mean, I know we lost JJ Reaver, Derreck Jackson,
Maxwell Harrison's not out there, doesn't matter. You got enough
talent out there. You should not let Auburn run all
over you that last there's last two drives. They went
what eighty yards and ninety yards on back to back drives.
(04:11):
I think something like that offense. I mean, I know
our quarterback kind of struggled Brock did in the first half,
but then you make the switch at halftime and give
the ball to Gavin wimstt wimset and it's like, all
of a sudden, there's no no And it's not Gavin
Wimson's fault. I'm not want to say it's his fault,
(04:33):
but there was no urgency there was no sense of urgency,
there was no rhythm, there was no there was nothing.
Three and out looked bad. And some of it's going
on the play calling. I don't know why. I think
it was Gimpson's second drive out there. Will Cox and
(04:54):
Patterson didn't even touch the ball. You got two guys
that are running the ball pretty well, didn't even touch
the ball. They threw three, three long balls in that
one possession. It was an awful possession. It was an
awful game. It was an awful performance. And now Kentucky
(05:17):
is probably not gonna go to a bowl game. One
in five in the sec three and five overall, and
the way they're playing, you think they're gonna go down
and beat Tennessee and Knoxville. No, you think they go
down and beat Texas and Texas. No, you think they
can beat Louisville. Probably not. So the bow streak is
(05:38):
going to end. And to be honest, they don't deserve
to go to a bowl game. They have the talent
where they should be going to a bowl game. They
don't deserve it the way they've played. And I know, well,
I'm at Chaos Bar and grill right now, and our
bar is full of people that are in here because
(05:58):
they're mad, they're upset. We love this team, we love
Mark Stoops, but people are not happy. Now. I know
we got a couple of Auburn fans in here and
they're celebrating. But I'm just looking at these guys' faces
in here, and we're all just like, we didn't just
get punched in the punched in the stomach. We've been
(06:20):
punched in the crotch. We've been kicked in the crotch
tonight and it hurts and it's not a good feeling,
especially after what we've experienced lately with our UK football program.
So I, like I said, I say here and listen
to the postgame show and listen to Jeff and Tom
and Dick kind of break it down and nobody seems
(06:45):
to know the answer how of how to fix it
what's wrong? And I don't either. And then when I
heard Mark Stoops come on, you know, he said some
things I want my coach to say. You know, he
sounds he sounds hurt. You know, he didn't make any excuses.
He kind of owned up to everything. That's the right,
(07:07):
that's the right way to handle it, because life is
not good. But the UK football team. Our studio engineer
Billy Rutledge is uh he joined us. Billy before we
get some phone calls, what was your take on everything
that transpired tonight over there at Kergerfield.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
You know, I think you'd hit the nail on the
head in the beginning when you talked about how much
talent this roster has and how is it possible that
they could be this bad this late in the year.
It's a failure f A.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
I l U R E.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
Ryan, There's no other way to put it. And I
do want to give some props to our guy Dame
t though. If there was one bright spot today, it
was your man who is going to be playing on
Sundays one of these days.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
Ryan.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
That was an incredible performance on him, and I give
him a lot of credit for not only that, but
doing the postgame interview with Jeff afterwards.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
I appreciate you saying that because obviously I think when
I brag on him, they I think he gets misconscrewed sometimes.
But he did miss great, played great. He's been playing
great all season and I would hate to think where
this football team would be without him because he is
(08:13):
the only constant on offense. That this team has had
all season.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
You're right, I mean, take away a penalty. They had
three yards in two drives in the third quarter. I
mean when Auburn was going fourteen plays, seventy five yards,
seven plus minutes, winning the middle eight. Yep, it was
Kentucky that just laid down.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
And they you know, they got they got a break
right before halftime where they got the sack and Vandy
couldn't get the field goal unit out there in time,
so it went into halftime tied at ten. I thought
that was huge. I remember I told Dante, I said, man,
if they can just come out and get a stop,
because Vanderbilt got the ball to start the second half,
I said, if Kentucky can just get a stop, you know,
(08:57):
they can maybe do some damage here. Well, like you said,
they let Vandy go the length of the field pretty
much and take seven minutes off the clock.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
And not only that, it was on eight straight run
plays to start that drive, they just ran right up
the middle on us Ryan.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
I would too. They our run defense was awful. I mean,
this great defense we've bragged so much about was awful. Hunter.
They couldn't stop him. Aupron did the right thing. They
kept giving it to him because Kentucky sure wasn't gonna
toss stop him.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
Yeah, twenty three carries, two hundred and seventy eight yards,
two touchdowns. You just you couldn't do anything to stop
a guy. And again you can't score inside the five
yard line. How bad is that?
Speaker 1 (09:40):
That's the third time now that has happened. Three out
of the last what four games? We've had it inside
the five first and goal and can't puch can't get
a touchdown.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
I mean, Kentucky got a lot of breaks in this game,
like you said, the end of the first half, their
kicker missed a field goal in the second half to
keep Kentucky in the game, and they just didn't take
advantage of any of it. And it feels like the
end of the season.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
It does, you know that. That's You're right, it does,
And I think that's why I feel so dejected. This
season's over. They are not going to a bowl game.
Even if they beat Louisville. I'm still not gonna be
happy with what has happened. This season started out great well.
First of all, late arriving crowd, Billy, I mean, it
(10:29):
was a very late arriving crowd, like the seats didn't
get filled until they're lining up for the opening kickoff.
There was no excitement in that stadium, no energy, no
buzz at all until kickoff, and then everybody finally got
there and there was a buzz. They hold, you know,
they hold them to three and out get the ball, boom,
(10:50):
you get a field goal. I think, well, maybe they
Kentucky scored first, got the field goal, held them to
three and out, got the ball back and scored a
touchdown if ten to nothing, and the stadium's kind of
a lie. But then the next seven possessions zero points zero.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
It was awful, Yeah, it really was. And then you know,
Brock through one of the worst interceptions I've seen this year.
Speaker 1 (11:14):
Oh that was bad. Uh.
Speaker 2 (11:16):
And then after that in the second half, they go
to Gavin wims At and he really didn't do much,
if at anything at all.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
So the offense and again I'm not gonna say anything
bad but against Gavin Wimson, but the offense stalled. There
was no urgency. They're running the play clock down to
the final seconds where they snapped the ball and there
you know, you're down two touchdowns. I mean, I just
don't understand some of the play calls and the way
the offense is being.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
Run against a bad Auburn team, Ryan against the team
that had won a game in the conference. Now you're
the worst team in the conference.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
It's Kentucky and Mississippi State. They maybe they need to
meet for the Egg Bowl, Cereal Bowl or whatever to
see who's the worst in the SEC. Look, and I know,
like we're gonna get a lot of bad calls. It's deserved,
you know. We'll try to let everybody speak their piece.
Eight five nine two eight two tweet said we'll take
(12:11):
our break, come back with Lona up Billy Local Total
deaders KSR postgame show. Kentucky loses tonight twenty four to ten.
We'll be right back. Welcome back Local Total deaders KSR
postgame show. Cats lose twenty four to ten to a
bad band Auburn team almost said Vanderbilt. They've already lost
to vander godlave Man seven straight SEC home losses. Just
(12:37):
let that seek in. Come on, man, programs better in that,
Teams better than that. How can how can this happen?
So we're gonna get everybody on, but I'll try to read.
We're getting a lot of text messages and things two
and tweet stuff. I'll try to kind of mi mix
them in as we go. I'm gonna read this one.
It says, it's just incredibly disappointing how this season has
(13:00):
crumbled over the last few weeks, and I can't imagine
how fans mentally can recover from this. That sums it up,
and that's that's how I feel. I feel like the
season is over and I don't know what can make me. Well.
Of course they go down to beat Tennessee, I'm going
to be like, yeah, I'm back onboard, and at this moment,
(13:23):
I'm not feeling it. So do you agree with that season?
With that what they said, Billy, that fans mentally are
going to have a hard time recovering from what we've
just seen these last three weeks.
Speaker 2 (13:34):
Yeah, I no doubt. But that's not out of line.
I mean, you looked at this three game stretch and
you licked your lips a little bit, you know what
I mean. Vandy Florida amor And that's doable. You can
set yourself up and have a big game at Tennessee
or at Texas. But now you're looking at a game
versus Murray State where there may not be a lot
of people in the crowd.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
Man, after the Ole Miss win, we were talking possibly
going get a chance to get in the playoffs nine
and three because they were gonna win these next three games, Vanderbilt,
Florida and Auburn. That seems ridiculous. Now that's how things change,
(14:12):
and nobody seems to know what is the reason why.
All right, it's go to the phone lines. Billy, who's
our first caller? Stub, Stub, go ahead, Stub.
Speaker 4 (14:22):
Hey guys, Hey, Stubb, you know what you know what
Bill Parcels used to say, you are what your record
says you are. They just don't have the players.
Speaker 5 (14:36):
They've got some talent, They've got good skill, uh players,
but the offensive line is not very good. It comes
down to Demmies and Joe's. They don't have a good
offensive line and they're just not very good. Also, what
(14:56):
do you think will be the over under on the
attendance of the Murray State game? Twenty five thousand?
Speaker 4 (15:01):
Over or under?
Speaker 1 (15:03):
Appreciate the phone call, Stub, I mean it'll probably be
over twenty five thousand. It's you know, they should be
able to get that. But Billy, after that last uh
interception in the fourth quarter on the goal line. On
(15:23):
the goal line, the interception it uh, it emptied out
really really really fast. And they were definitely less than
twenty five thousand people there by the end of the game. Oh.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
What was What was maddening for me was you were
down two possessions and every time you were snapping the ball,
there was one second left on the play clockency I
mean Tom and Jeff screaming into the MIC's like, let's go,
let's get this offense rolling.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
I am with you. I don't understand how they could.
You're down two touchdowns. You got to be playing a
little more up tempo, and you're what you're taking the
clock down of the final second before he snapped the ball.
Speaker 2 (16:02):
I was surprised they benched Brock like that.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
I mean he, I mean he didn't he didn't play
well in the first half. He you know, he had
a bad half. He threw a really bad long ball
to the burryon that he threw one to Dane. It
was about three feet from behind. Dame was cutting across
the middle and threw it like three feet behind him.
He made a really bad interception, and I think, well,
(16:24):
here's what I know. That's why I picked Gavin Wibson
as my MVP, because he was supposed to come in
like the third series, not just for a play for
a series, and I just felt like, you know, maybe
he was gonna run the ball a lot. Well, they
must they must have changed their mind. They scored, you know,
they're just scored in their first two possessions. So he
(16:46):
didn't come in and just periodically until the second half,
they thought they gave him the keys over, so okay,
we're gonna run a series with you kept him in there.
That's second series that he was in when will Cox
and Patterson didn't even touch the ball and they threw
like three deep balls. They weren't even close. I mean,
I don't know, man, I just wonder where some heads
(17:07):
are at. Okay, who's next phone call? Ethan, Ethan, go ahead, Ethan.
Speaker 6 (17:12):
Hey, so we're at the point where the fan base
is like, we'd be happy with making the great value
Torkilla chip bowl, and that's just it's just so embarrassing.
And I get this, maybe putting you on the spot,
so it might be a better question almost for Billy,
but like, if you're a parent of one of these
players that might be playing on Sundays one day. What
(17:35):
are you saying to your kid whenever that transfer portal
opens up? Like, I don't see, because I mean, it's
it's just pitiful being on this team anymore. It's like
you're not helping yourself in any way. Like this game
here in a couple of weeks is gonna look like
a Thursday night JV's football game.
Speaker 4 (17:56):
I've got season tickets.
Speaker 6 (17:57):
No part of me wants to drive two hours to
go watch this team play. It's beautiful.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
Yeah, appreciate the phone call. You know it, this this
passed offseason before the season started. You don't think Dion Walker,
dayne Key, Barryon Brown, Maxwell Harrison. They had other schools
courting them. They those four guys are gonna play in
the NFL. They all could have left, They all could
(18:24):
have transferred, played somewhere else. They all chose to stay here.
They believed in what was going on here, the culture here.
But something has happened, something has changed, and I honestly
believe nobody knows what the answer is to this problem.
Speaker 2 (18:48):
Well, it works the other way too, because I don't
think Dion Walker's earning the Bukuo nil dollars that Kentucky
gave him. Right, he's not the word Brock Vandergriff, He's not.
I mean it goes both ways. But if I'm talking
to my son or daughter that could be potentially making
a million dollars elsewhere if the transfer portals open, I'd say,
you have to do what's best for you, right.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
Yes, I think you know, we've got some good young
talent on this team that'll probably be hearing from some
other schools and using now against us. Like man, you
don't want to play for them, you know. They just
they lost to Vandy, Auburn, and Florida, three teams that
maybe have losing records in the SEC when the season
is all said and done. Although Vandy looked good again today.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
It's like Iowa football, Ryan, except you're not winning any games.
Speaker 1 (19:36):
Who's the next phone call, Matt? Matt?
Speaker 4 (19:38):
Go ahead, Matt, Hey, Ryan, how's it going?
Speaker 1 (19:43):
Not well? Matt? How are you doing?
Speaker 3 (19:46):
You know?
Speaker 7 (19:47):
Down here in Nashville, Tennessee, we're holding it down as
much as we can.
Speaker 4 (19:51):
But you know, with all these.
Speaker 8 (19:52):
Tennessee fans, these Vandy fans.
Speaker 7 (19:55):
It's not going pretty good.
Speaker 9 (19:57):
You know, I wish we would have done a whole
lot better against Vanderbilt than.
Speaker 10 (20:01):
We actually did.
Speaker 9 (20:02):
You know, it seems like Vanderbilt has passed us into
SEC and we cannot get.
Speaker 4 (20:09):
Back on top of them.
Speaker 10 (20:11):
They beat us in football, and.
Speaker 4 (20:13):
Who knows what is next.
Speaker 11 (20:15):
You know, it just pains me to.
Speaker 9 (20:18):
See because this football season, we all look forward to this,
We all look forward.
Speaker 7 (20:24):
To the seven to eight games in.
Speaker 9 (20:27):
September, October, and November, and then we just lose them
all for home games, you know, I you know, I
am not to the point where I want to fire
suits at all, but I want to win some dang
home games.
Speaker 1 (20:43):
Thank you so much, Ryan, Thank you, Matt appreciate it.
He said what we've we've all been saying. Man, I
don't know what has happened to our ability to win
on your own field and play well on your home field.
I don't have our ability to stop people. I don't
want to have our ability to get the ball in
(21:04):
the end zone. So we've played what now, six SEC games,
and I think we only have six touchdowns? Is that right?
Six offensive touchdowns? That right? I gotta look, I think
that's right. I think we've had six games and only
scored six touchdowns, and your offense should be better than that.
(21:28):
It is better than that. So who's next?
Speaker 2 (21:31):
Billy Elliott?
Speaker 1 (21:33):
Elliott, go ahead, Elliott.
Speaker 4 (21:37):
Hey, Ron, Hey, Eliott, Hey.
Speaker 7 (21:39):
Is there any way to exchange my last two season
tickets for maybe a basketball game?
Speaker 1 (21:48):
You know we're gonna start hearing more of that, Elliott,
where people are gonna just have tuned out because basketball
season is upon us. That's just how life is here
in our state.
Speaker 7 (21:56):
Absolutely, yeah, it was just aggravating this. It looked like
two completely different teams from the first quarter to the
last three, and it's the same way from Georgian and
Ole Miss to the rest of the season. I'm just confused,
and I know everybody else is too.
Speaker 1 (22:18):
Yeah, appreciate phone call, man, Elliott. You're right man. In Georgia,
they played Georgia, who may win the national title again
to one point. You hold Georgia to thirteen points, You
crushed Ohio, and then you go on the road and
you beat o Miss. Ole Miss may still get in
(22:39):
the playoffs, and then the last three games. Man, nobody, now,
my football buddies, nobody has given me an answer. What's
gonna I did have one of my football friends text me.
I'm gonna read his text. I'm not gonna tell who
it is. He said, we have a serious culture problem
with our team. M you know we heard, we've heard
(23:01):
other former players say a leaderless team. You know, I
don't know, man, I don't. I don't think anybody knows
the answer or can put their finger. Do you have
any idea, Billy, what would be your guess?
Speaker 4 (23:18):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (23:19):
Now, it's tough. I mean when you know everybody's got
a play until you get punched in the face. You've
heard that a couple of times before, but I think
that's amplified when you don't do the little things right,
the attention to detail, the entitlement. I think we've talked
about that for the past couple of years.
Speaker 12 (23:37):
You know.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
The sad part is, you know Mark Stoops is thrown
away what he's built.
Speaker 1 (23:42):
You know what I mean? Yep.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
The streak is ending of eight straight seasons to making
a Bowl. That's impressive. That's not a lot of teams
that have done that before.
Speaker 1 (23:52):
I can't, like we all said, he's done things here
that most people thought could never be done. Win eight
games in a season. Come on, man, not Kentucky go
to a Bowl. Game eight years in a row. That
ain't happening in Kentucky. He got the program where they
were beating every year South Carolina, Mississippi State, Missouri, Vanderbilt.
(24:13):
Now those teams are punking you. Not just beating you,
they're beating you down and making you look pitiful.
Speaker 2 (24:21):
Yeah, this season's not living up to the standard that
he built here.
Speaker 1 (24:25):
Amen, They're exactly right. And I think if you heard
him tonight, he owned up to it. Like I said,
he didn't make any excuses. That's why I like the guy. Okay,
let's get one more than go to our break, Nathan, Nathan,
go ahead and Nathan.
Speaker 10 (24:40):
Yeah, I just want to stay. It was super disappointing
to see what I.
Speaker 13 (24:46):
Guess my biggest disappointment is, like to see Gavin come
in so early?
Speaker 10 (24:50):
Does that not turn Brock off? I know we don't
have a line that that lets Brock do his thing
whatever this that, but like, just see other quarterback come
in so.
Speaker 13 (25:01):
Soon to me, that would throw me off.
Speaker 10 (25:04):
I mean I've never played college football.
Speaker 14 (25:05):
I played high school.
Speaker 13 (25:06):
Just that my coach was to bring.
Speaker 10 (25:09):
Me out on a third and so what and put
another player in.
Speaker 13 (25:14):
It's just like, oh, am, I not doing the right thing,
which then again it comes back on him. And also
I want to state Dion, I mean, did he just
come in and play when he wanted to play tonight?
He didn't start, so why bring him back in?
Speaker 10 (25:29):
Thank you all, GOKSR appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (25:32):
Well, you know, Walker was hurt. He was even questionable
whether he was going to play. So I give him
a little credit if he's you know, toughed it out,
try to get out there and play. He didn't have
his best game. And I think about the quarterbacks. You know,
you'll hear people argue, Billy, a two quarterback system never ever, ever, ever,
ever works. I think they wanted to use Gavin some
(25:55):
because there the running back room was so thin. He
gave him another pair of legs. He does run the
ball pretty well. Like I said, I had heard he
was gonna come in in the third series tonight regardless,
and then they scored and maybe they just pushed it.
Then after Brock struggled, they went ahead and throw him
out there to start the second half. So but answer
the guy's question, Billy, I think yeah, I mean he
(26:17):
would You're not You're an athlete. You want to play,
and if you get bitched. It definitely I think would
mess with your head.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
Yeah, but you're also going to see what you have
in Gavin, and you know you gotta start thinking about
what you're gonna do next year. But that was a
game that you could have won this year and you
still could have been bull eligible. Seems like a quick
rash decision to me. But Rock made some pretty bad
plays in the first half. There's no doubt.
Speaker 1 (26:41):
Well take our break, come back, go back to the
phone lines eight five to nine two eight zho two
two eight seven. Kentucky loses their seventh straight SEC home game,
now two and eleven in their last thirteen SEC home games,
losing tonight twenty four to ten dollars and were right back.
This is Kentucky Sports Radio, Well come back Local Totadoes
(27:02):
KSR postgame show after the Cats lose again, this time
to Auburn twenty four to ten. Uh. I did get
a text that's kind of some disap kind of some
bad news for somebody, says, some jerk broke into my
car and left to Murray State tickets. See if we're
(27:24):
gonna start getting that. Now we're gonna start getting that.
Speaker 2 (27:26):
How do you keep getting these postgame shows, by the way,
I you think you have impact the result?
Speaker 1 (27:32):
Yes, because you know I was supposed to do the
Florida postgame show last week. That's right. They stunk it up,
and Matt decided, Man, you know he needed to come
in and do it because it was such a bad loss.
You know, I I've I've lost track of the ones
I did the I know I did the Evansville basketball loss.
I did the uh uh Saint Peter's postgame loss because
(27:59):
Drew and Matt were there. Uh, there's a lot of
football ones I've done.
Speaker 2 (28:07):
Yeah, you're not very lucky at those.
Speaker 1 (28:08):
No, I'm trying to even think back towards there are
some really bad ones I did over the years. I
can't remember eight five, nine, two tweets. Let's go back
the phone lines. Who we got Ryan, Ryan?
Speaker 8 (28:17):
Go ahead, Ryan, Hey, how y'all doing tonight?
Speaker 1 (28:20):
Ryann?
Speaker 7 (28:23):
I know, I know.
Speaker 8 (28:24):
Look, I don't want to say this, and I've been
saying it for a while. Our football program we're great.
We have a great football program, great spirits around here.
Our fans are awesome, like our basketball program awesome. I
just believe, like I've been saying, I called in a
couple of weeks ago and said, we're stuck in neutral.
But I was on the I was on y'all's YouTube
(28:45):
where you posted his comment and a comment on there
and said that, you know, we need a new face.
It's time for a new change. His times up. We're
stuck in neutral. Somebody called back. We commented backs and pick,
We're not stucking neutral, We're stuck in reverse with suits.
I mean, I don't know what's going on with this program.
I mean, I love, I say I love our football teams,
(29:06):
but we were way better. We're way better than what
we're playing this year. And I do believe that if
we had a new face, maybe you would give us
a fresh start. Like y'all coming and said that, uh,
you know, you don't know what's going on. Maybe it's
you know, morale around the team, the spirit. Maybe if
we got a new coach like we did in basketball,
maybe that you know, be a good, good head start
(29:28):
to it. But I appreciate y'all taking my call, and
y'all have a good rest of your night, says going home.
Speaker 1 (29:32):
Thank you, Ryan. Appreciate it, brother. You know it goes
along with this text. I just got on the Avy
as a glass text machine. Forever grateful to Stoop for
what he gave us, so difficult to see it crumble
like this. Would hate his era to end in disgrace
the way that Cals did painful. You know, I get it. Yeah,
I think we a lot of us feel that way.
(29:53):
We're forever grateful for what cal did here, but it
was time. It was time for a change. We're gonna
forever be grateful for what Mark Stoops did here. A
lot of people will getting to that point where maybe
it's time for a change.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
Are you there?
Speaker 1 (30:09):
I'm not there.
Speaker 2 (30:10):
You're not there.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
I know I'm not there. And maybe it's because when
I hear him on these postgame shows, he sounds as
defeated as I feel. I know he doesn't want to
go out like this. I know that he's he's proud
of what he's done here and build this program. He
(30:32):
he hates losing as much as anybody, So I still
think there's a lot of fight left in him. It
may we may get to see the results of it
until next year. You know, I said, I think that
this season's over. Who's next? Billy Evan? Evan? Go ahead? Evan? Hey, Ryan,
how are you good. How are you, Evan, I'm doing
(30:55):
good tonight.
Speaker 15 (30:57):
I just want to talk about you know, I traveled
in for the game and the fans, the fans did
bring good energy tonight. I thought it was a great environment.
The fans have brought the energy pretty much the whole season.
The crowds have been great, and I guess that's just
(31:18):
kind of why, like going back to last year, the
pony up comments kind of irk me because the fans
bring it. The fans have brought it, and the product
on the field just hasn't been great for the fans
to enjoy. I mean what, you know, like we've said,
we're what two and ten or two and eleven or sorry,
(31:40):
two and nine in the last however, many home games,
Conference home games, and it's just not a product on
the field that the fans can enjoy. Despite them bringing
a very good atmosphere for Kentucky, I.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
Appreciate it, Paul, You're right man. Like I said, the
crowd was a late arriving crowd, and it was the
stating was kind of flat until kickoff and then it
really picked up. Fans have showed up, fans were it
was an awesome environment for the Vanderbilt game. It was
an awesome environment for the Georgia game. It was an
awesome environment for the South Carolina game. There is no excuse.
(32:18):
This fan base has been there showing full support through
this whole season. Now. I don't know how many people
are going to the mary State game, but they've They've
done their part, There's no doubt about it. They just
showed Dane's two catches on the SEC network. Billy. Yeah, see,
I'm seeing them on video for the first time. I
was there at the game, so I'm seeing video. My goodness.
Speaker 2 (32:41):
Oh yeah, buddy, he was.
Speaker 1 (32:42):
He lost that guy in the first quarter and then
in the catching made on the sideline. That's an NFL catch.
That's that's a pro catch. Playing simple. Who's next, Chad, Chad,
go ahead, Chad.
Speaker 4 (32:56):
Hey, Ryan, I appreciate you doing it. I don't know
it probably a tough show for you to do.
Speaker 6 (33:02):
So.
Speaker 16 (33:03):
I keep seeing mattch tweets about we don't have the money,
so forget about it. I mean, do we really not
think that there might be some donors that will get
their money together and decide that it's time for a change.
I mean, don't get me wrong, I love what Stoops
(33:25):
has done for our program. But I mean it's time.
I mean I hate to be this way, but it's time.
It's time for a change. We need to I think
we need to get like an exploratory committee together. They
need to start looking.
Speaker 4 (33:44):
I mean he's lost.
Speaker 16 (33:46):
I mean when you listen to his post game comments,
he has lost, and you say it, I say it.
There's talent on this team, but he cannot get it
going in the direction that we need to. So I
honestly hope that there is enough donors to where we
(34:09):
can get together and decide that it's time for a change.
I'll listen to your comment.
Speaker 1 (34:16):
Okay, Chad, appreciate it. Trying to think of the best
way to say this. Big bigger schools that have the
big perennial power football programs they've got let's just say
one hundred, let's say fifty fifty donors that donate multi
(34:38):
millions of dollars. Okay, fifty, Probably most problem may have more.
Kentucky has like five. So when people want to buy
out stoops contract, it's not that simple. And for them
to go to these donors that they're going to all
the time to build this facility, grade the program, upgrade
(35:01):
the facilities, upgrade the stadium, let's build that. Well, there's
only like, there's only like five guys that have that
kind of deep pockets that could do something like that.
But this is not you know, Texas someplace like that
where they could do something like that.
Speaker 2 (35:20):
Maybe Texas A and M spent seventy seven million dollars
to buy out Jimbo.
Speaker 1 (35:25):
See, there's there's no way Kentucky would ever have a
chance to ever come up with something like that ever,
And Mitch Barr wouldn't do it. He wouldn't jeopardize the
rest of the athletic programs to buy out a coach.
If he had something like that, he would just wouldn't
do it. He's got too much pride in the rest
of he's program that he helped develop. All Right, we
(35:46):
got time for one moment. You gotta take our break here.
Speaker 2 (35:49):
Yeah, you can take you can take one or two more.
Speaker 1 (35:51):
All right, take another one then we'll take our break
at the top of the hour.
Speaker 12 (35:53):
Oh we got Hunter, Hunter, go ahead, Hunter, Hey, how
are you guys doing that?
Speaker 1 (35:58):
Well? Could be better?
Speaker 15 (35:59):
Hunter, I know you know, I.
Speaker 12 (36:03):
Was screaming at the TV the entire time I just
I'm just frustrated. Ryan, Something's got to give, you know,
we can't keep being insane. Sandy's doing the same thing
over and over and expecting different outcome, and we've been
insane for the last two years. That's all I can say.
My two questions is, I know a lot of people
have called for Stoops to get fired off. I feel
(36:24):
like a lot quicker than Cal Perry. Do you think
it's because we had a bad experience with Cal that
we're kind of have like a shorter leash on Stoops.
And then I actually get to take my dad. I'm
from Utah and I get to take my dad to
his first ever Kentucky event around Thanksgiving time? Would you
rather go to the Western Kentucky basketball game or the
football game against the Louisville.
Speaker 1 (36:45):
Yes, Oh, Billy, this is a perfect question for you
and me because you're a Western grad. So if you
get taken your dad your first first ever UK event,
are you going to watch a UK basketball game against
your alma mater or your big rivalry football game between
(37:07):
Louisville and Kentucky.
Speaker 2 (37:08):
Well, I guess it just depends if you want to
see a winner or a loss. If you want to
see a loss, I think you got to go to
the Western Kentucky basketball game. But if you want to
see a win, you want to see the Cats beat
down Louisville, then you go to the football game.
Speaker 1 (37:18):
Right. I think if it's just if Tickety's dad to
the first one, you want to go to the Kentucky
Louisville football game. I mean it actually could mean something
for Kentucky because that's maybe their only chance they could
salvage what's happened last months of the season.
Speaker 2 (37:33):
Oh, it's not gonna salvage anything, Ryan, Season's over.
Speaker 1 (37:37):
And you know the chances are they're going to run
Western Kentucky off the floor and basket.
Speaker 11 (37:42):
Now.
Speaker 2 (37:42):
Ay Now, I don't know if you heard the crowd
mic tonight though, Ryan, but the MVP of the game.
Speaker 1 (37:50):
Did our producer sound engineer correct the problem from our
caller on the pregame show that said the game mic
was too loud?
Speaker 2 (37:58):
But we turned it down a little bit.
Speaker 1 (38:00):
And you did you send some directives to have it
turned down?
Speaker 3 (38:04):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (38:04):
You know, I had to send a couple messages out
make sure we put on the best broadcast possible, and.
Speaker 1 (38:10):
They followed through, followed your orders.
Speaker 2 (38:11):
Yeah, we had a little lighter crowd, so hopefully that
guy that called in had an easier time listening to
the game.
Speaker 1 (38:17):
Well, I I he yes, he was very upset that
he couldn't hear Jeff and Tom because the crowd mic
was too loud, and Billy said he would take care
of it today. And you're telling everybody you came through
for the game.
Speaker 2 (38:30):
I think so. Yeah, I think we got it all right,
Very good tonight.
Speaker 1 (38:33):
You've earned your big paycheck tonight being our sound engineer.
All right, we'll take our final break, come back our
final segment eight five nine two eight h two to
eight seven Ryan Lemon on the Billy Are Sports postgame Show,
We'll be right back after this welcome back final segment
of the local Totao's KSR postgame show. Cat's a loser
twenty four to ten to Auburn, their seventh straight SEC
(38:58):
home loss off to one in five into conference. I mean,
I could go on and all on, but you want
to If you want to get really depressed, go to
Corey Price's twitter Corey p zero eight and read some
of the about about eight of his last ten posts.
(39:20):
If you're not depressed already, that will make you depressed.
Speaker 2 (39:29):
Ryan, they had four hundred and sixty four yards in
three quarters. I liked how you did it? Not Bo Jackson,
not herschel Walker.
Speaker 1 (39:39):
Not EMMITTT. Smith, not Heisman winner George Rogers. Some guy
named Jock Queshunquez Hunter carves up the Cats for the
most rushing yards ever in the history of Kroger Field
slash CommonWell Stadium against the defense that we all thought
was really really good. Remember, we're gonna with a lot
(40:01):
of games this year because the defense is gonna keep
us in the game. By the way, our offense still
the only team in the SEC not to score twenty
one points. Ouch, How can like I said, I think
that they've got six touchdowns in six games. SEC games
can't score twenty one points? What is wrong with you? You
(40:22):
get the ball inside the five? What is wrong with you?
Speaking of which, you know we talked about. Jamario Willcox
was on DraftKings that earlier in the week. If he
scored two touchdowns, it was like plus twenty eight hundred.
Some guys got on that. He ended up being RB
number one. Scores the first touchdown of the game. Those
(40:43):
people probably feeling pretty good about themselves. Yeah, why did
they not give him the ball when they're down there
inside the five? The dude can he can pick it up?
Speaker 2 (40:53):
Yeah, maybe he didn't have his shoes on.
Speaker 1 (40:56):
Jay and Linden sends me a great tweet text, I'm sorry.
Maybe's with that type machine. I'm worried the NIL money
won't be there for what we need next year. That's
where it's going to hurt the most, right there. Those
people that have donated all this money supported the NIL
(41:17):
are going to keep the money in their pockets next
year if they feel the way they do tonight. It's
his life eight five, two to eighty seven. Who's next,
Billy Brandon? Brandon? Go ahead, Brandon, it's me, Yeah, Yeah,
go ahead, sir.
Speaker 7 (41:37):
Hey, I you know it.
Speaker 6 (41:38):
Ryan questions. So I was actually I was at the
Vandy game.
Speaker 4 (41:41):
I don't know how many years ago.
Speaker 6 (41:43):
I'm twenty four, so it's probably around twelve or thirteen
when there was nobody in the bottom level.
Speaker 1 (41:49):
Yep.
Speaker 6 (41:49):
So kind of a different vibe now where we're still losing,
but on the stoops kind of question. Not the biggest
win in the Stoop's career, but what do you think
the best life the fans that I guess in the
tenure about this program.
Speaker 1 (42:07):
All right, I appreciate it. I mean, you know, like
we've we've said a lot tonight, I think everybody is
very thankful for what Mark Stoops has done here and
have built a program up that many people thought can
never be done. I never thought this Probaly would win
eight games in the regular season. Hell, they've won ten twice.
Never thought that would ever happen. So I will forever
(42:27):
be grateful. And even though I'm upset with the way
things are going right now, I, like Billy asked me earlier,
I'm still not ready to go get rid of it.
I know a lot of people are, and I completely
understand that there's nothing wrong with feeling that way. I'm
just not one of those guys. Yet, where are you? Billy?
Speaker 2 (42:43):
And the in that argument, I was still thinking about
the old the best moments of the Stoops era, and
I mine was that drive with Wan Dell. Was that
against Iowa.
Speaker 1 (42:53):
We had the like five straight catches or whatever it.
Speaker 2 (42:56):
Was, he got popped on like the first play.
Speaker 1 (42:59):
And is that the guy I was asking the great
moments of the Stoops era?
Speaker 2 (43:02):
Well, maybe maybe I misunderstood it. He was just saying
maybe some of his favorite moments Austin againnis Field goals
in mind, the Missouri game on the road.
Speaker 1 (43:12):
Yes, when the Conrad cd Conrad made that catch. Uh.
How about the uh oh I had it and it
just lost it.
Speaker 11 (43:19):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (43:20):
The bud Dupree. Yeah? Against South Carolina?
Speaker 2 (43:23):
Absolutely?
Speaker 1 (43:24):
Uh? Jojoe kemp Ran ran the Wildcat like what twelve
times in a row? That was? That was? That wasn't joker?
Was that was Stoops? Wasn't it?
Speaker 2 (43:34):
I'm not sure that was free dates me? But think
about Lynn Bowden taking over at quarterback for half a
half a year and you went in the Belk Bowl.
Come on, how awesome was that? Some big wins versus
Louisville Lamar fumbles.
Speaker 1 (43:48):
There's spent some great, great moments during the Mark Stoops era.
The last three weeks are just been disappointed.
Speaker 2 (43:57):
Tennessee coming out next on Prime Time seven forty five,
kickoff in.
Speaker 1 (44:02):
Knoxville with the women will be down there chewing tobacco.
It's spitting all over.
Speaker 2 (44:07):
My shoes, may be spitting in your face next Saturday.
Speaker 1 (44:11):
Who's next?
Speaker 2 (44:11):
Billy Jordan?
Speaker 1 (44:13):
Jordan? Go ahead, Jordan, Hey, guys.
Speaker 11 (44:18):
I was pretty hard on bush Hamdon last week, and
I continue to be pretty hard on tonight. I think
it was pretty stupid to bring in Gavin on a
first down earlier in the game when defenses know what's coming.
Speaker 1 (44:40):
Oh, there's no doubt. Yeah, I appreciate the phone call.
When he comes in, there's no doubt he's running the football.
But they tried to mix things up today, had him
throw some long balls. I don't know why they did it.
They're in the second half during that one possession, but
they're trying. They were trying to give him a a shot,
(45:00):
give him a chance to Earnie stripes. I just don't
know if that's the right time to do it, but
that they What would you have done? Bill? Would you
have made a change?
Speaker 2 (45:13):
I wouldn't have been doing this two quarterback bs the
entire season, honestly. I know you want to make everybody
happy because you've brought some other people in, but this
is football, man, that doesn't really work. Doesn't really work.
Speaker 1 (45:27):
No, let's get another phone call. Who we got Ben? Ben?
Go ahead, Ben.
Speaker 10 (45:33):
I just want to say that Gerald Minty's probably the
worst offensive.
Speaker 7 (45:38):
Lineman in the SEC right now, and how.
Speaker 3 (45:40):
Hard is it to make defensive adjustments?
Speaker 1 (45:44):
Yeah, man, appreciate the phone call. You know, we were
ready to crown our defense the best ever in the
Mark Stoops era, and they were so what they did
against Ole Miss. But the last three games, our defense
has not been good. Like I said, I said that
on the pre show, Billy, I got a little pushback
from our boys. But well, let's just go through the
(46:07):
Vanderbilt game opening drive. You let Vandigo I think ninety
five yards or ninety yards whatever it was. You were
like three of thirteen on third down. I'm sorry, Vanderbilt
was like ten of thirteen on third that you could
not stop them on third down. Florida awful. Florida just
(46:32):
picked you apart, did whatever they wanted to against your defense,
and tonight we saw a guy just run all over you.
So even though the defense didn't play well against Georgian
Ole Miss, they have not played well these three games
in a row. Now.
Speaker 2 (46:44):
Yeah, and no, they haven't loaded up to expectations. You know,
they have been injured. Deeric Jackson got hurt in this game.
JJ Weaver got hurt in this game and didn't even
come back after he made a big play to end
a half. Maxwell Harrison obviously out, but a guy like
Doomus Johnson has got to be like, what the heck
did I sign up for? You know what I mean?
Heat lose one game or maybe one game in three
(47:05):
years at Georgia, dudees, what what are we up at?
Speaker 3 (47:08):
Two?
Speaker 2 (47:09):
Now?
Speaker 1 (47:09):
Five? Yeah? What is the record? Now? Three and five?
Speaker 2 (47:15):
Something like that?
Speaker 1 (47:16):
One in five in the SEC. Yeah, we're three and
five overall, one in five in the SEC. I'm sorry,
Dumas Dumas Walker Johnson. We should have done you better.
All right, here's next? Todd is next, Todd, go ahead,
all right, Todd.
Speaker 7 (47:32):
Hell, Ryan a.
Speaker 3 (47:36):
Mystery love company, So I thought I'd joined in. Listen,
I'm with you, Ryan. I don't think I'm ready to
lose stoops. First of all, I don't know who we
would get, do you?
Speaker 1 (47:56):
No? People say Brad white people, John Summer, that's what
you know. Everybody on social media is pointing towards.
Speaker 3 (48:05):
Yeah. I just I just can't go along with getting
rid of them, And like you say, can't afford to
pay it anyway, I can't. And I'm hoping things will
get better next year. And I'm just was curious as
(48:26):
to wondering if there was some permol in the locker room,
maybe between players or coaches.
Speaker 1 (48:38):
Appreciate the phone call. I mean, there's there have been
other people that have asked that question, and I'm being
completely honest, I've not heard anything like that. Matt said
he's not hurt anything like that. Drew said he's not
hurt anything. Now maybe well that'll come out later, but
as of right now, I really have not heard anything
where there's a problem in the locker room or a
(49:00):
problem with coaches and players. I just that's why it's
kind of a head scratcher, what is going on? You know?
And even Stoops is like he didn't and he didn't
know how the answers either, but they it's it's I
don't know a lot of football, but I can watch
the game and see that they're not executing on offense.
(49:23):
That offense is kind of stuck, and they're some of
the play calls don't seem to match the situation. But again,
I've never had to make it a be an offensive coordinator,
so I don't know. But uh, I just don't know why.
Like when Gavin came in build, they seem like that
he kind of let off the gas a little bit
(49:44):
and you're down fourteen points.
Speaker 2 (49:47):
Yeah, we really haven't seen any extended action of Gavin,
so that did seem a little puzzling. But you know,
I think we're past anger at this point. It's like misery.
It's depression, it's like.
Speaker 1 (49:59):
In bare harassment.
Speaker 2 (50:00):
Yeah, it's you know, we're I think we're realizing now
where we're at.
Speaker 1 (50:06):
I realize I'm the only person left here at ks bar. Grill,
Why are you at the bar?
Speaker 2 (50:10):
How come you couldn't go to the house. Your brother's
an Auburn fan. They can give you a ride home.
Speaker 3 (50:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (50:15):
They wanted to stay to the end of the game,
and uh, I don't blame him, and I didn't think
I have enough time. I may have been able to
make it, but we've been close. I just didn't want
to jeopardize. This was such kind of a big, big
show where I knew a lot of people would want
to call in. I didn't want to put you on
the spot, Billy.
Speaker 2 (50:31):
So the poor workers having to wait there till you leave?
Are you the last one there?
Speaker 1 (50:35):
I am now the last one here. I do need
a ride home? Can somebody take me home? We would
take another phone call.
Speaker 2 (50:41):
Who we got Thomas's next?
Speaker 1 (50:43):
Thomas, go ahead, Thomas.
Speaker 14 (50:47):
Dank. He had an awesome night. He's definitely NFL quality.
But Mark Stewbs has capped his productivity in Kentucky, and
I know we're stuck with him. Can get rid of him,
but look at the offensive courts we've gone through. We
got to stop saying these offensive play calls. Why do
we call this? Why do you call this? It's reflective
(51:08):
of the head coach period. But I think he's captured
productivity and we're not going to be better. South Carolina's
passed us up, Vanderbilt, Missouri, all those three schools have
passed us up. I think we're done with him.
Speaker 1 (51:22):
Appreciate the phone call. You know, Vince Merrill, who came
on this radio show, came on on ks R and said,
you know, we now beat South Carolina every year. We
now beat Vanderbilt every year. We now beat Missisippi State
every year. We now beat Missouri every year. Now gotta
go beat Georgia. That's where we were, man, we were
at a point where we had we were no longer
(51:44):
in the bottom echelon of the SEC. We were knocking
on the door at the top. We were going after
Georgia for crying out loud, and he said many times,
we still have to prove we can beat Georgia. Man,
they almost did it. This year. Thirteen twelve was the
don't score no touchdowns. You did not score a touchdown,
(52:04):
but there's still one point. Now we are at the
bottom of the sec. Not not even in the middle.
We are at the bottom of the sec, knocking on
the door down there with Mississippi State, Auburn, whoever else
is foundering down there. Yeah, you can tact take that.
We got one more call, Billy, Yeah, one more Okay,
(52:26):
we see how we we gotta somehow, we got to
in on some positivity. So be thinking of that after
we take this last phone call. Okay, who's our last call? Nolan? Nolan,
go ahead, Nolan.
Speaker 9 (52:40):
First off, I just want to start by saying, you know,
thanks guys for staying up late. You know, I know
you all have a lot invested Billy. You're at the
station all day, Ryan, you know you want to be
you know, home, celebrating or at least kind of dealing
with some thoughts. So the fact that you all stay
on so late and you know, kind of help the
fans work through this. It really doesn't know a lot. But
I have trying to think what would I say, and
(53:02):
I think there is so much to say. You know,
we have struggles at quarterback. We can't shift to a
different style of defense when they're running it straight up
the middle. We can't figure out to go to a
single high safety and.
Speaker 4 (53:14):
Loads the box.
Speaker 9 (53:14):
I mean, at the end of the day, that's just
a game of numbers, right, And you know I listen
to KASR every day. You know, we can't get rid
of stoops. But at the end of the day, you
do have to ask, you know, what's going on. It
was crazy all night.
Speaker 3 (53:30):
Even when we.
Speaker 9 (53:30):
Make big plays, you didn't see guys running off the field.
There wasn't a sense of urgency, like you said, you
saw guys quitting on plays. Dame had an incredible night.
He was working his butt offs, but there was just
moments where you could see, like the team quit on us.
You know, I save up every single year, have a
side hustle even to save up for football tickets. Football
(53:54):
truly is something that the fan can become a part of.
Basketball is hard, but football you can really feel like
you're part of a program and you can feel like
you earned a product. This program has gotten to a
point where the fans just you know, it's just not
worth it for some of us. You know, I have
to drive two and a half hours in this case,
I'm on my way back to Bowling Green right now,
(54:16):
to drive back two and a half hours after watching that.
It's miserable. I will say on a positive note, the
one thing that does kind of help keep me through
is all of these young players that have come in
that event has brought in. You know, we had that
four star tight end that we picked up from South Carolina.
Today we still have Cutter Bowley, We have all these
(54:37):
young kids coming in. My one thought leaving this is,
you know, clearly the people we're putting out there, whether
it's a lack of effort or just play style, I
don't know what it is, but the guys that we've
got out there, they aren't just cutting it. I don't
see how we can do much worse. I don't know
why we start to look maybe put in some of
these younger tackles and guards. You know, how do these
young wide receivers do? You know, I don't know if
(54:59):
Cutter's ready, but but you don't give him a reper
to just kind of see what happened. What we have
is not working, So I would be excited to see
do we have something for the future or do we
just need to look to do a complete cleaning the slate. Gentlemen,
I'd love to hear your thoughts. Once again, appreciate all
you all do.
Speaker 1 (55:16):
Have a great night, great phone call. Actually, as we
kind of like, look, they lost the game, the bigger
the bigger point of view to me is the program.
You've heard me say, all right tonight, I'm not in
the ship that think the program is done. I think
(55:36):
there's still a little gas in the tank for that guy,
for Coachdobes. I still believe in him. Actually, he's the
guy I want leading my program. Yes, the last three
games have stunk. I'm embarrassed, I'm mad, I'm upset, I'm
not happy, But you know what, he's not either. So
I'm still in the boat willing to give that man
(55:56):
a chance to get it back on the right track. Because,
like that callers said, Billy, there is a lot of
very good young talent on that sideline, and I think
there's still a lot of good football coming from that program.
Speaker 2 (56:11):
Yeah, and he's earned a bad year right, eight consecutive
bowl seasons bringing Kentucky up from the ashes. He's done
a lot, so maybe he deserves our grace. Can we
get the Tyson Chicken guy to take him out to
dinner or something?
Speaker 1 (56:23):
Void?
Speaker 2 (56:23):
That forty million dollars byout that seems to be a
big obstacle. But you know, I'm with you, Ryan, I mean,
this guy has done a lot of good and we
can't put the blame solely on him. But I don't know, man,
Like you said, you see this game versus Georgia, you
see them win versus Old Miss. You know it's in
there somewhere. Why have we not seen it against three
mediocre SEC teams.
Speaker 1 (56:46):
I want to end the show with this. A lot
of our young fans don't remember Kentucky going one in ten,
two and nine. Kentucky fans just begging for six wins.
We can go to a bowl game thinking that when
Tim Couch went seven and five, we had just won
(57:08):
the National championship, won the Rose Bowl because we went
seven and five and played in the Outback Bowl, and
then the next year, oh my goodness, went to the
Music City Bowl, with Dusty Bonner back to back years
the bowl game. You don't understand how happy this fan
base was just to go to a bowl game, just
(57:30):
to go to a bowl game. Now we're mad when
we don't go. We don't get eight wins. Now we're
mad we don't play on a New Year's Day bowl game.
That's how far this program has come. Yes, it's not
the greatest at the moment. Corey Price, who just walked
in the last three weeks have not been fun. But
(57:51):
I want the young fans to understand where we've come from.
Believe he might be one of those guys look back
at the era of the early nineties and see how
far we've come from those days. Then maybe you'll give
you have a little more grace and a little more
(58:12):
patience to let us try to let him steer the
boat back on track. That's what I want to say. Listen,
thank you to everybody who came out here to KOs Bar.
We had a great pregame crowd. God bless every one
of you that went to the game and set through
that and all these home games that they've lost, the
(58:33):
crowd has been awesome. We we used to complain about
the crowd and the fans not showing up. You can't
say that anymore. Man. They show up and they're loud,
and they they they've done their part. So thank you
to each and every one of you that went to
the game. Thank for everybody who tuned in tonight. You know,
it's kind of group therapy. It's kind of like, you know,
(58:54):
we're all sitting on the couch in the therapist room
and we're all talking our problems out tonight. Billy.
Speaker 2 (59:00):
So is Corey Price gonna give you a drive ride home?
Or do you need me to swing by the bar?
Speaker 1 (59:03):
What's up, Corey? Did you come and take me home?
Is that why you're here? He says he can. Okay,
well good it's Corey me or the cleaning lady down there.
Speaker 2 (59:12):
Yeah, well just let me know if you need anybody.
But good way to end it.
Speaker 1 (59:16):
All right, Well, thank you everybody, Billy. Great job is
our sounding in the are and thanks for correcting that
problem with the film. Mike. Listen, folks, four games left,
it's still our team. This is still our team. He
is still our coach. Let's try to let's try to.
Let's try to bond together here, bond that let's bond
(59:37):
that bridge, so to speak, and try to get a
couple of wins in FORO this seasons over all, right,
let's just try to do that. We're gonna wrap it
up local Tori's case, our postgame show, for Ryan, for Billy,
for Corey Price, who's here to take me home? For
all of you that called in the night, God bless you.
Thinks are gonna get better? Surely the goodness they win
(59:58):
an SEC home game next year.
Speaker 2 (01:00:00):
There's always next year.
Speaker 1 (01:00:01):
It's always next year. Get out of everybody,
