Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, good morning. It's morning ladies, gentlemen, boys and girls,
grandpa's and grandma's, aunts and uncles. This is the local
twital Deers KSR postgame Show, Ryan Lemon in for Matthew
Harper Jones, who is somewhere in South Africa. He has
made it safely. For those that didn't hear on the
pregame show, he did arrive. He texted Drew, so he's there.
He's doing well, and he'll be gone for a couple weeks,

(00:21):
so we're gonna fill in for him on KSR on
the pregame show and tonight on the postgame show and tonight.
You know, you call this game whenever you want, the
feel good game, the get right game, whatever you want
to call it, but it is basically, it's the Cutter
Bowlie coming out party. The Cutter Bowlie era is underway,

(00:41):
and he is the quarterback. He is the quarterback of
the future in my opinion, in my now you may
have heard Coachtop say something different after the game on
his postgame comments with Tom each We'll get to that
in a little bit, but it couldn't have worked out
any better for Cutter. You know, he gets his first
start of the season against a lesser opponent at Kroger Field.
You know, last year his first game was on the

(01:03):
road at Florida, and then on the road at Texas,
and then he got to start against Louisville. This one,
you get to start at Kroger Field in front of
your home field. I guess the lesser opponent kind of
ease into the job. That what I think is now
his It is his job and couldn't have played out
any better. First play of the game, tip pass. Rainer

(01:26):
gets the interception and so the Cutter comes out on
an extremely short field. Two plays, mcgawan punches it in,
nerves are wiped away, he's out there. I got to touchdown.
Second possession. Mcgawan scores another touchdown, so he's up fourteen
to ninhe so now Cutter can just relax and play football,
and he did rede some million nice passes. The offense

(01:49):
just seemed to move better. They see the offense seem
to be in more rhythm. There was no confusion on
play calling, there was no confusion on execution. You know,
I think they missed a couple even missed a couple
opportunities to put more points on the board took a
touchdown off the board when he threw the touchdown pass
to Boyer or the other tight end. If Julize Cutter
through two touchdown passes to two tight ends, When in

(02:11):
the hell has that ever happened at the University of Kentucky.
We've been clamoring for my entire lifetime. Why don't they
throw the more to the tight end? Why don't they
get the tight end involved? Well, Cutter's two favorite targets
are tight ends, Willi Rodriguez and Joshkatis. Each of them
caught a touchdown pass. Each of them made great pat
catches throughout the game. And the Boyer kid, he had
a touch a tight end, caught a touchdown pass that

(02:33):
got called off the board on a holding or a
legal procedure or something, and they brought it back. So
all those tight ends that have played here in years past,
all those great tight ends, the Jacob Tammy's, the CJ. Conrad's,
last couple, we have what Ben Bates, Isaiah Cummings, Jordan
Dingle who's now playing at South Carolina. I saw him

(02:54):
on South Carolina tonight. All these tight ends. Now you
wish you were here because Cutter's gonna throw to you.
So Cutters two main targets tonight, tight ends there's a
touchdown past to both of them, but he kind of relaxed,
settled in, got into a little rhythm. McCowan has proven
to be an all type SEC running back. The dude.
I do love what Zach Calsat said about him. He

(03:16):
runs that. McGowan runs like he's mad at the ground,
and he does. He kind of runs like that. So
he's going to provide a lot of highlights for us.
Down Dale looks like he may have got banged up
a little bit, so he didn't play as much tonight,
but we got to see pat the Patterson kid, you know.
He came in and ran well there in the second half,
got some touches, finally scored a touchdown as well. So so,
like I said, you call it what you want to

(03:37):
feel good game, a get right game. But it's the
Cutter Bowling era. It's underway, it's begun, and you got
to hand him over the keys now, I feel like
you know?

Speaker 2 (03:47):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (03:49):
Tom asked Mark Stoops on the postgame show about the
quarterback situation, and Mark did not want to name Cutter
the starter. He did not want to rule Zach Calzada
coming back. But I think the writings on the wall,
I mean, you know, you talk about a perfect scenario.

(04:09):
You come in for your first start against Eastern Michigan.
Now you got two weeks practicing, taking every snap with
the ones, with the first string guys, to get ready
for South Carolina, a team that just got embarrassed to
night by Vanderbilt thirty one to seven. If you didn't
see that score, Vanderbilt won at South Carolina thirty one
to seven. And now you got two weeks to practice, prepare,

(04:31):
get all the reps with the ones as the starting quarterback.
Don't make it a quarterback controversy. You know, I know
they don't want to lose Calzada. They want to keep
him engaged. They want to keep him practicing hard by
thinking that the competition is still up for grabs. But
that's is that really fair than to Cutter? Why don't
you name Cutter the starter so he can prepare knowing

(04:54):
he's the guy not looking over his shoulder thinking well,
if I mess up, Kalsada's gonna you know, get the start.
You gotta win games. You gotta play your best player.
And if Calzadas is not one hundred percent healthy. He
can be your backup tonight. He was your third string guy.
That tells you how bad that shoulder was. Bol Allen
was your backup quarterback. Calzada was your emergency third string quarterback. So,

(05:19):
like I said, use these next two weeks to just
shape Cutter for what's a gauntlet coming up at South Carolina,
at Georgia. Then you've got what Texas, Auburn, Florida these
five games in a row, they are gonna be really
tough on whoever the quarterback is. So that's that's my
thoughts and opinion. Gus, do you have a similar opinion

(05:39):
on whether they should just hand the keys over to Cutter.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
I think you need to go with it. He certainly
seemed like he had some moves out there. He looked good,
He looked the part. You know, I know it's lesser competition,
but my gosh, I think you gotta go with what's hot,
right And when somebody said one time, go with what's hot.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
Go with what's hot, and what's the worst, I don't
want to say that.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
I guess I have. I've committed. Now what's the worst
thing that could happened? But I guess he could get injured,
but we certainly want to hope that. But I just
think he looked the part.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
He did.

Speaker 4 (06:07):
He just felt he did.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
When you look there, he goes you know, he knows
what he's doing out there. He think he sees things
pretty well. He made right decisions and everything. I think
he's I think he got to go with that.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
I agree, Gus. He looked the part. The offense looked better.
The offense looked like they had a little bit of
an identity. Like I said, they were in rhythm. He's
obviously got these receivers, Harley Gilmore, Josh Tatis, Willie Rodriguez,
They're gonna get the majority of the looks. I was
wanting to put an all points bulletin out for Jamari Macklin.
I didn't even know if he was still on the team.

(06:38):
He's supposed to be a number one receiver. He has
been non existent for the first three game. He did
catch a big pass for like thirty six yards in
a second half time his only target, he's only catch.
He's supposed to be our number one guy. Fred Ferrier
did have a good catch, but the Hester kid, he
didn't have a catch tonight. So I think Cutter's got
his guys. He came in the same recruiting class with

(06:59):
a hardly Gilmore and Willie Rodriguez and those three guys
they could be our future when he comes to the
Kentucky passing game. All right, well take our break, come back,
load up the phone lines. If you're at the game.
I need to know about the crowd. I need to
know about the rain. And it chase the fans away,
especially the students. And they got chased away. How long
do they hang in in when it started raining? So
give us a call eight five nine two eight zero

(07:21):
two two eight seven. It's eight five nine Toto Katz,
Gus allen Man in the phones to night. He'll get
you on board. Give us a call. Kentucky a winner.
They're two and one. They got a winning record, sake,
Think what you want about this program, think what you
want about this coach. But they're got a winning record
right now, and they're two and one. And there are
a lot of teams in this country, are really good

(07:41):
teams that have worse records than that. We'll be right back.
This is Local Total leaders KSR postgame show. Welcome back.
This is the local tot Leaders KSR post game show,
Ryan Leman in for Matthew Harper Jones Tonina is Kentucky
a big winner, you know the the draft Kings spread
Gus and I think kickoff was twenty six maybe twenty
six and a half, So that last touchdown by Eastern

(08:05):
Michigan could have made some friends fans very unhappy on
their drive home. Yep, yeah, yeah, if you got it
arder in the week, it was like twenty four, twenty
four and a half. But I think when we did
our pregame show was like twenty six twenty six and
a half, and of course they win by twenty five,
So maybe some disgruntle fans for that reason, I guess
on the way home.

Speaker 4 (08:25):
Yeah, those that didn't win the power Ball probably little upset.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
Got phone lines are packed and I we're gonna get
to them, but I gotta read a couple of text
messages I got. One of them says some T shirt
company in Lexington needs to come out with cutter Loose baby. Yeah,
that's a big nil opportunity right there for cutter with
that name. Somebody's got to come up with a cutter
loose T shirts or something. Diane a friend of ours
from the show said the rain didn't mount too much.

(08:51):
It was quick. Students mostly left after halftime, but the
students were lively before they left. Music was also louder
go cat So that's good. Students kind of hung at
least still halftime and the music was louder. But this
is gonna be my so far. This is my best text,
and I've got so far, Ryan, It's official. The big
dog was holding that tight end room back. He's a

(09:12):
little pup now catch my ninety Yeah, I mean he was.
The big dog, was our tight ends coach. And now
when he leaves, we're throwing to the tight ends more
than we're throwing to the receivers. Used to be, you know,
everybody clamoring, why don't we throw to the tight ends more? Well,
now it's gonna be like, why don't we throw to
the wide receivers more? The tight ends get all the looks,
all the catches. So all right, we got a full

(09:32):
bake of calls. Let's get to him, Gus, who's our
first one?

Speaker 4 (09:34):
Steve?

Speaker 1 (09:35):
Steve? Go ahead, Steve, Steve, are you there?

Speaker 5 (09:43):
Ryan, can you hear me?

Speaker 1 (09:44):
Yes? Go ahead, Steve.

Speaker 6 (09:46):
Sorry, Ryan, I just wanted to say, tonight, I'm out
in Colorado. It's not too late. I don't drink alcohol,
so I'm not drunk. I watched that whole game and
cut a bow put that ball exactly where it needed
to be on pretty much every throw. So the next
two weeks, I know we're gonna have fans saying it

(10:07):
was only Eastern Michigan. But no matter who the opponent is,
there's only certain windows to put that ball, and I
didn't see receivers having to slow down and reach behind
him to make catches. Cutter Bowie put the ball where
it need to be. He looked great, and I want
to see him start, even though Mark Stukes didn't commit
to that tonight. Great point, You have a good.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
Night, great point. Appreciate the phone call. You're right, he
made the right throws and put it in the right spot.
There was even one time he threw a deep ball
to Harley Gilmore, and to me, it looked like Harley
kind of gave up on it, like kind of slowed down.
If he just kept running full speed, I think Cutter
laid it right in there, which could have been a
long touchdown pass. So I think Steve's right I mean,
I if you heard my opening monologue that regardless of

(10:51):
what Coach Duke said on the postgame show, this is
Cutter Bowy's team now, and you got to give him
the keys to the Cadillac. Maybe go through growing pains
with the schedule they got this year, but at the
same time he could be your quarterback for the future
and be a really, really good one as well. Who's next, Gus?

Speaker 4 (11:06):
How about Dwayne from Critten in Kentucky.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
Dwayne from critenon Kentucky. How are you, Dwayne?

Speaker 2 (11:13):
I'm doing great. Watching the Reds blow another game away.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
Well that's nothing surprising there, Dwayne the Red Stak.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
Ryan, I don't even want to hear rem you about
the Cardinals because they're worse than we are.

Speaker 1 (11:31):
Cardin's about to sweep the series with the Reds coming up, though,
I think next week, this coming week, that's.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
Not gonna happen. That's fake news.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
What do you think about the bed to Night?

Speaker 2 (11:44):
I mean, it's a w that's all we want, wins
or wins. I would like to defense to play a
little bit better. I would have liked for us to
not give up as many points as we did, but
we survived. And we go on for another day. Yeah,
better Bowlie, like you said, is our quarterback for the future.

(12:10):
He got a whole game under his belt today. He's
gonna have a week off next week to play with
the Ones, and then two weeks we'll go to South Carolina. Yep,
and the South Carolina games here, isn't.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
It No, it's at South Carolina. They I appreciate it
was there the.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
Last time, because that's when you got That's when you
got that's when you got assaulted.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
Yeah, yeah, that does South Carolina. Well, maybe it is here.
I mean I thought it was at South Carolina at
Georgia the next two games, So I appreciate you. Wait,
thanks for pune call. Look it up here real quick,
see what we got. We can find out South Carolina.
It's at South Carolina. I thought it was. I guess
it's just a fluke in the schedule. Maybe they got

(12:56):
to go back down there again for it. Uh he did.
Dwayne did bring up a point though about the defense
not their best effort. They definitely let Eastern Michigan kind
of do some things that I surprised. I ever't predicted
a potential shutout tonight. I thought the defense was so
good sec caliber defense they might shut Eastern Michigan out.

(13:17):
But uh, that's a good point by Dwayne. The defense, definitely,
he needs to play a little better than it did tonight.
And I kind of surprised they gave up as much
as they did to Eastern Michigan. Who's next, Gus?

Speaker 4 (13:28):
How about Matthew and Seabree?

Speaker 1 (13:30):
Matthew and Cebree? Go ahead, Matthew?

Speaker 7 (13:34):
Uh, how are y'all doing good?

Speaker 8 (13:37):
How are you?

Speaker 1 (13:37):
Matthew good?

Speaker 7 (13:40):
I think the defense tonight? The defense, yeah, they didn't
look too good. But I was watching the whole game,
and you know, Cutter browleie out, he looked like he
played good tonight.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
I appreciate to call Matthew again. Yeah, the defense didn't
play very well. Cutter did. Cutter showed a lot of
poise for a guy that was really just making his
second career start, first start of the season. Throwing him
out there and uh, like I said, I think the
next two weeks with the twos, let him go down.
Regardless of what happens at South Carolina, you still I

(14:16):
think want want him. You can't keep going back and forth.
That's why I wish they would just name him the
starter and let him let the team know what's going on.
Of course they're going to know this week when he
gets all the number one reps. But uh, I think
it's wound be a little vote of confidence for Cutter,
maybe help him elevate his game. You just go ahead
and name him naming the starter. Don't have this, Well,

(14:38):
we got to check and see. We'll watch the tape
and see that kind of stuff. Come on, man, just
name the starter, all right. Guess who's next?

Speaker 4 (14:43):
I met Carson from Belfrey.

Speaker 1 (14:45):
Carson from Belfrey, Go ahead, Carson, Hey, Ryan, So I'm
on my way back from the game now.

Speaker 9 (14:52):
And Uh, to be honest, it was a little refreshing
to finally see some offense. I thought it thought Cutter
looked pretty comfortable, to be honest, he looks more comfortable
than our seventh year starter to you know, start out
the season. But you could tell the crowd really got
behind Cutter instantly. I think he was able to settle

(15:16):
in pretty easily because the defense set him up. But
to be once, overall, I'm pretty pretty optimistic going into
the South Carolina game. I think I think the BI
week will serve him pretty well. But I do think
I think we might have the quarterback for the future.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
Yeah, this would be careful driving back to Bellfree. Appreciate
you calling in. I think these next two weeks are
crucial for him. Like this past week he had all
the reps with the ones. Now he's got two whole
weeks getting ready for South Carolina. And I had the
South Carolina game on and split screen with Kentucky game
on the night. South Carolina looked awful. Vanderbilt ran all

(15:53):
over them. Vanderbilt did whatever they wanted to do. Now,
of course, South Carolina's quarterback got hurt. If you haven't heard,
Leonora Sellers took a hit to the head. They called
targeting on the Vanderbilt guy, and Sellers had to leave
the game and did not come back, And that just
kind of threw South Carolina into a tail span. They
could not recover offensive. They looked horrible. So if Sellers

(16:17):
is still out next week around two weeks, absolutely that
gets Kentucky a better advantage going down there because it's
a tough place to play. And like the coller said already,
the last time I went down, I got punched in
the face and fractured my draw. So jall, So I'm
not going Let's get another call, Gus.

Speaker 4 (16:31):
Who you got how about DJ out in Georgetown.

Speaker 1 (16:33):
We'll take DJ and Georgetown, then we'll take a break.
Go ahead, DJ.

Speaker 8 (16:38):
What's up?

Speaker 10 (16:39):
Guys, y'all doing all right?

Speaker 1 (16:40):
Doing well?

Speaker 8 (16:40):
How are you?

Speaker 1 (16:41):
DJ?

Speaker 11 (16:43):
Do them well?

Speaker 10 (16:43):
Can't complain. I really enjoyed watching the game today. A
lot of the colors kind of stole my thunder there,
But I really thought Carter looked really comfortable in the pocket.
I mean, he wasn't unlike Zach. You know, Zach would
really back up into that pok it, you know, kind
of like Matt said a few weeks about a week ago,
you know, he kind of looks like Michael Vick or

(17:05):
Lamar Jackson, you know, just running back in the pocket,
you know, running back backwards in the backfield. Cutter looked
really comfortable, looked very confident in his stance in the pocket.
And I just you know, that's I think that's where
you I think that's your deciding factor, because you know
he's he's his his potential, I mean, is your is

(17:27):
your is there thing that you want to uh?

Speaker 11 (17:30):
Is what you want to see?

Speaker 1 (17:30):
You're right, he's got a higher ceiling, I think than
Calzada at this point, So why not go with the
guy who's got a higher ceiling. They could get you
there for the next couple years, your quarterback of the future.
Why not, right?

Speaker 7 (17:43):
I agree?

Speaker 1 (17:44):
All right, Djan appreciate. Appreciate phone call man. Uh yeah,
I want to read this text for we go to break. Then, Gus,
somebody texted in and this is exactly what Yoga girl
said to night to night of the game. Also, this
is Cutter's team. Listen to him and during Pope natural leader.
He exudes confidence. I think that goes a long way.

(18:04):
When you're a quarterback college football team, you gotta have confidence.
You got to be a leader. And I think the
Cutter kid, he's got it going on. So let's give
him the keys. All right, We'll take our break, come back,
load up the phone lines again. A five nine two
to to two to eight seven. It's eight five nine
to aito cats. This is the local twtal Leaders KSR
postgame show. All right, welcome back the Local Total Leaders

(18:26):
KSR postgame Show. Ryan lemon In for mister Matthew Harper Jones.
Tonight Kentucky a winner forty eight to twenty three. Over
Eastern Michigan to improve the two to one on the season.
The caller, we were talking about the South Carolina game
in two weeks being at South Carolina. Yeah, South Carolina
was here last year's second game of the season, and

(18:46):
they embarrassed us. I had to look up. The score
was thirty one to six. They totally embarrassed us that game.
It was awful. So it was two years ago when
the game was in Columbia when I got punched in
the face down there, and I don't want to go back.
It's a yeah, well I haven't no, you know, Thank goodness,

(19:07):
I didn't have to have any kind of uh wires
put in my jar or anything, because that would have
been awful. But yeah, that was two years ago. So
that's why the game is back down in South Carolina.
Uh here in two weeks eight five nine, two eight
oh two two eight seven, we got another full bank
of call. So let's get right to him, Gus.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
Who we got Zane and Lexington?

Speaker 1 (19:24):
Zane and Lexington, go ahead, Zane, Hey, Ryan, how are
you tonight? Good? How are you Zane.

Speaker 8 (19:32):
Good?

Speaker 12 (19:32):
Can't complain, man, We won. So I want to talk
about the environment. The environment tonight for Eastern Michigan was great.
Like we we talk about environment all the time. The
environment tonight was great and like you can't complain. They
everybody was loud on third downs.

Speaker 13 (19:52):
Like when we needed them on defense, the crowd got
up and they did their thing. I just want I
want you to expand on that. I'll hang up and
listen to Well.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
I appreciate you saying that because it's hard to tell
watching it through TV exactly how it was. And we
kind of thought that going in that there it was
just a little more of an excitement and more of
a buzz knowing that Cutter was going to start. It
was a night game and then it should be a
you know, a big, feel good, get right type of win.
So it is good to hear from zaying that the

(20:25):
crowd was kind of into it. Diane texted that the
crowd and the students were into it. Now, they may
have left at halftime, but it was a blowout game.
By the end. It was raining a little bit, so
I can't lave then, but yeah, uh. This is also
from the on the Davision Glass Tech machine. The music
was only coming from the speakers on one side of
the stadium one end zone music was almost exclusively from
the nineteen eighties. Still too much dead air between scores

(20:48):
and kickoffs. Well, Gus, I like music from the nineteen eighties.
I mean, that's why. That's what I prefer. John Cougar,
Mellencamp and what uh Prince and Bruce Springs team and
Michael Jackson and that, you know, all all the good music,
Gus came from the eighties. It did, that's right.

Speaker 7 (21:07):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
Who's next week? Taking our phone call?

Speaker 4 (21:09):
Jake from Hickory, Kentucky.

Speaker 1 (21:11):
Jake from Hickory, Go ahead, Jake.

Speaker 5 (21:14):
Yeah, I love the eighties. Ryan, there, that's an unforgettable decade.

Speaker 1 (21:18):
That's amy.

Speaker 5 (21:18):
And I was born in the eighties.

Speaker 1 (21:20):
Amen me, Oh you were born in the eighties. Well,
I was in high school in college thirties. What do
you got for us tonight?

Speaker 5 (21:28):
Hey? Uh, I'm feeling pretty good because because South Carolina's
got to play next week and we don't have to
play next week, and that's I think that'll be.

Speaker 6 (21:38):
Good for us.

Speaker 8 (21:40):
Ryan, Well, couldn't hurt I think they had to play
next week?

Speaker 1 (21:45):
They uh, you know, we talked about their quarterback being out,
so I maybe we give them another week to get
ready for it. But they do. They play at Missouri
next week, a Missouri team that looks good and is
ranked in the top twenty five right now.

Speaker 5 (21:57):
They have a chanced to They have a chance to
lose game too.

Speaker 8 (22:00):
Don't think oh yeah, where do you think?

Speaker 1 (22:02):
Yeah, especially if the Seller's kids not at quarterback, they
could lose easily at Missouri, I would think, because they
look really bad tonight against Vanderbilt after he left.

Speaker 5 (22:11):
Owen three's Owen three's a bad, bad way to come
with us coming in there and then with and then
then we hang another with all throwing them. That'd be
really good.

Speaker 1 (22:21):
Good Jake, We appreciate it. Always good to hear for
what you calling on the show and then kas ar
during the week. So'll keep calling. Eight five nine two
eight o two to eet seven. That's the phone room
if you want to call and get on board. So
let's just keep it rolling, Gus, who we got.

Speaker 4 (22:33):
AB from Harlan, AB from Harlan.

Speaker 1 (22:36):
They're calling from all over Kentucky tonight.

Speaker 14 (22:38):
Go ahead, Ab, Hey, what's going on on?

Speaker 1 (22:41):
A man? What's up? What's going on?

Speaker 14 (22:45):
And not a whole lot. Hey, I just wanted to
comment there on the Cutter Kala Zada situation there. I
did see there on x formerly known as Twitter since
they started allowing tablets and headsets in twenty twenty four.
On the sidelines, I didn't know Calzada was kind of
reading the tape there with Cutter and h you know,

(23:05):
Calzada threw for over six thousand yards down at uh
Incarnate Ward all there although they are FCS.

Speaker 11 (23:11):
He you know, he still knows ball.

Speaker 14 (23:13):
Sure, I feel like he's kind of taking the Cutter
under his wing and kind of you know, looking at
the tape with him, you know, letting him know. And
I feel like that will elevate Cutter's game, you know,
in the near future. So that's all I wanted to see.
I feel like, you know, Klzada still knows ball even
though he did play a couple of years at the FCS,
and I feel like that will elevate Cutter in the future.

Speaker 1 (23:32):
Thank you, Aby, I appreciate it. I'm glad you brought
that up because the cameras did catch Cutter and Calzada
talking at the end of the game, and you could
tell Calzada was congratulating him and kind of dabbed him
up a little bit and it kind of shared a smile.
So and even Chase McDaniels, the commentatory to Knight, said,
Chase Daniels said, Uh, you know what great sportsmanship right there.

(23:55):
You know, Kalzada being a good sports good teammate is
what he said. So he can Kalsada can still be
very valuable to this team as a mentor as a coach.
And Cutters going to get hit, and we've seen quarterbacks
get hurting this league every single game. We saw Sellers
go down the night for South Carolina. It happens. Kalsata

(24:16):
is not out of the question. Could get another shot,
and he's got to be ready for it. And maybe
I think that's why Stoops wants to make it seem
like it's still a competition. So Calzada still say it,
stays sharp and engaged with what's going on on the
practice field, and because they know they're probably gonna need
him again at some point during the season. Who's next, Gus?

Speaker 4 (24:34):
How about Edward from Lexington?

Speaker 1 (24:37):
Edward from Lexington? Go ahead, Edward?

Speaker 8 (24:40):
Hey, Ryan, are you a nice good are you?

Speaker 1 (24:43):
Edward?

Speaker 2 (24:45):
Uh?

Speaker 8 (24:46):
Pretty good?

Speaker 10 (24:47):
Uh?

Speaker 8 (24:47):
I met you once back when they had aren of
football and you those games. And there was a game
in Myrtle Beach. Yes, and I took my son down
there and we saw that there was a game there,
so we went to it and we talked to you.
We talked to you after, Edward, let me tell you something.

Speaker 1 (25:11):
Indoor football and Lexington the Horseman, the Lexon Horsemen was awesome.
They were so much fun. It was fun to go
to the games. I hated that they didn't do it
anymore because that was that was a fun time. That
era was a fun time when the Horsemen were playing
down at Repparena. So nice to meet you. I remember
that game down at Myrtle Beach as well. Tony Franklin

(25:31):
was the coach that year, and he made the team
do the walk through, the pregame walk through on the beach.
We went to the beach. It's the only I've ever
seen it in my life that a football team did
a pregame walk through on the beach. So go ahead, Edward,
what do you got for us tonight?

Speaker 8 (25:49):
Okay, I've been going to My dad took me my
first football game in stall Field. I'm seventy four years old.
When I was five, So next year it will be
my seventieth season back when they hired Frank Persey, and
I actually taught school and I taught friends kids, and

(26:09):
I also coached basketball at Southern Middle and got to
coach got Morris's daughters, and it's and Joby Hallson. It's
just it's kind of crazy. But this is the first
three home games. I live off Tates Creek Road, and

(26:30):
even though I'm less than two miles from the stadium,
it usually takes us forty five minutes to get in there.
We've gotten in there ten minutes these first three games.
Even though thissgame, I thought I would be more crowded,
we'll leave a little earlier. It wasn't. And there were
a lot as I walked around. I'm in the green

(26:52):
lot close to bct Old b CTC. As I walked around,
there were frames and then people didn't put up their tents.
And there's guys that I know tailgated since the stadium
was building seventy three, they weren't even there, and I'm thinking,
what's going on.

Speaker 1 (27:11):
Yeah, we appreciate it, man, thanks for the phone call.
Appreciate the phone calls. That is disappointing to hear because
we you know, we hear that the crowd was better
into the game. But yet, you know, I don't doubt
Edwards to what he's saying at all. That there was
still traffic wasn't as bad. People had their spot and
didn't tailgate. But I'm telling you what. They go down

(27:32):
and beat South Carolina in two weeks, which if Sellers
doesn't play, I think it's god of the chances. Just
got a little grady with cut Her playing well and
Sellers out. They go down to South Carolina and beat
South Carolina three and one. That will gets that'll just
provide a little spark. I don't care what happened to Georgia.
The Texas game will be crazy packed because Texas is

(27:52):
gonna bring a lot of people and Keenland will be
going on the crowd. I'm hopeful well rally, but they
gotta beat South Caroline. Maybe South Carolina, I think things
could change a little bit. Let's get another call, fore
go to break Gus. Who we got, Charlie, Charlie, Go ahead, Charlie.

Speaker 4 (28:09):
I'm sorry. Ford. Go to Ford, Go to Ford first.

Speaker 1 (28:11):
Ford, Ford's up first, Go ahead Ford.

Speaker 15 (28:15):
Hey, good morning, Ryan, thanks for staying up with us.
I a couple of nitpicky things. Eastern Michigan didn't get
a very good pass rush on Cutter, and he held
the ball too long a couple of times. He zeroed
in on some guys, but those are fixable things. I
don't understand how in the world OOPS can look at
this quarterback situation and not say Cutters our guy. I

(28:38):
feel bad for Calzadic because it's his last ride. I mean,
he's a seventh year senior and he's fall his way
back to the SEC and now he's gonna get benched.
But I mean, goodness, gracious, all you had to do
was not think, Frankly, this is Cutter's team now, and
we got a ride with Cutter. I mean, the ceiling
is just infinitely higher, and you're not getting any more

(29:02):
football out of a seventh year senior and Cutters a
Richard freshman, and Frankly that I think Gutter's better than
Calzada to begin with.

Speaker 1 (29:10):
So Ford, I agreed with everything you just said. Thanks
for the phone call, man, you're preaching to the choir.
I think he's proven that if we've seen what we're
gonna get from Calzada, why not then just ride with
Cutter to build for the future, your guy, your quarterback
for the future. And I think you saw tonight and
even though it was just Eastern Michigan, the offense looked better.

(29:32):
The decision making was better, the execution was better. They
just seemed to be, you know, I use the word
rhythm a loove. They just seemed to be more in rhythm,
especially with the tight ends Rodriguez, Cadtis and Harley Gilmore.
They just seem to have got it going on. So
I agree with what Ford said. You just got to
just name me the quarterback and just ride with him
and let us dream. Let us dream that he can

(29:54):
lead us back to some quality wins and beat some
big teams down the road because we got a heck
of a schedule coming up the rest of the season.
All right, well, take our final break, come back, take
our final segment, Load up the phone lines again. Eight
five nine two eight two to eighty seven. This is
the Local Total Leaders KSR postgame show. All right, welcome back,
final segment here on the Local Total Readers KSR postgame shows.

(30:16):
The Cats win at forty eight twenty three over Eastern Michigan.
On the text machine, Theavis the Last Tex machine, somebody
sent this in and I tried to look it up.
What's the most points ever scored it by UK during
the Stoops era. It looks like when they beat New
Mexico State sixty two to forty two in twenty sixteen,

(30:38):
nine years ago. I don't remember that game at all,
but my goodness, that's a basketball score. Sixty two to
forty two. Kentucky went over New Mexico State. Which I
bring it up because New Mexico State has now given
us two players. Right, McCowan is from New Mexico State
and Big Pete our big tax I think they both

(31:00):
came from New Mexico State.

Speaker 3 (31:01):
So they scored forty two points. Though it's sixty two
to fourteen, forty.

Speaker 1 (31:09):
Sixty two to forty two. It's a going for basketball
that one.

Speaker 4 (31:12):
Yeah, that is a basketball score.

Speaker 1 (31:14):
One more from the Avision Glass text machine says, uh,
doesn't Mark Stoops have a good record against South Carolina? Well,
from what I gather, it looks like he's eight and
five overall against South Carolina, but he's won eight of
the last eleven, so he You know, they went on
that roll where they won like six or seven games
in a row. So uh, he does do very well

(31:35):
against South Carolina. I don't think there's a lot of
love loss between him and Shane Beemer. And if Leonora's
Sellers is out the South Carolina quarterback, that changes my
thoughts about that game going down to South Carolina. And
now that you've got two weeks to get ready for him,
all right, final set of calls. We'll try to roll
through these and get Gus out of there so we
can go home. Who we got, Gus, Charlie, Charlie, Go ahead, Charlie.

Speaker 16 (32:00):
So I'm on my way home from the game right now.

Speaker 7 (32:02):
We had a good time.

Speaker 16 (32:04):
But one thing that I saw was the replay officials.
They didn't do their job right. They played the they
played the replaces and they didn't need to and when
we needed to see him, they didn't play the.

Speaker 1 (32:16):
Replace, Charlie. And that's funny.

Speaker 16 (32:23):
And maybe next time dups can cover a spread.

Speaker 1 (32:28):
Amen, Charlie. Well, I bet you're one of those people
that bet on draft Kings when it was twenty six
points or twenty six and a half points and they
gave up that last touchdown.

Speaker 16 (32:38):
All right, And there's one more thing, all right, check
out Blitz the Bookie Podcast. It's my podcast we post
every Thursday.

Speaker 1 (32:45):
What's it called now, Blitz The Bookie Blitz, The Bookie
Charlie's podcast. All right, I'm gonna look that up, but
I'm gonna give it a listen, all right, Charlie, okay,
all right, Well, appreciate you calling. You had a great
call tonight, and be careful going home. Yeah. I said
that in the first segment because I knew there'd be
some people driving home tonight. Guess. Not happy about that

(33:09):
last late touchdown the Eastern Michigan guy, because that did
not mean Kentucky was going to cover the spread.

Speaker 3 (33:14):
Yeah, yeah, I know some money bo when they start young, now,
don't they on the'll uh wagering side of things?

Speaker 1 (33:19):
How about how about that? He's got a Charlie who
sounded like he was what maybe twelve years old? Yeah,
got a podcast on gambling. Blit's the Bookie.

Speaker 4 (33:28):
Laying down the Benjamin's there and everything.

Speaker 1 (33:30):
How about that, Charlie? Goodness gracious, you know. And he
was not happy about the replay officials sometime. He said
they played the replays when they weren't supposed to, and
they didn't play the replays when they were supposed to. Charlie.
That's that's the decision back in the truck, and that's
Kentucky has done that as long as I've been around.
They don't want to show anything controversial or anything judgmental
like that on the Jumbo drawn. When it comes to replays,

(33:51):
they just won't do it. It's just their policy. They
just won't do it.

Speaker 4 (33:55):
All Right, here's next, Gus, how about Chuck in London.

Speaker 1 (33:58):
Chuck in London, Go.

Speaker 17 (33:59):
Ahead, Chuck, Hey, Ryan, I'm gonna talk about the atmosphere.

Speaker 1 (34:04):
Awesome, Okay, go ahead.

Speaker 15 (34:06):
Right from week one is and prove like crazy.

Speaker 2 (34:10):
You know, they're back to playing grocery party.

Speaker 11 (34:13):
It's awesome.

Speaker 8 (34:14):
But I gotta say the fans.

Speaker 17 (34:17):
You know that all the fans, the student section is
almost completely empty after halftime, and I think that's just
a huge part of the environment in the atmosphere, and
it's a huge part of Kentucky. And you know, we
quit leaving before halftime. After halftime, we got to stay
and like an oh miss, they were leaving after halftime
and we were still in the game. We were only

(34:39):
down seven.

Speaker 1 (34:41):
M Well, we talked about that. I appreciate Chuck. Yeah,
it's good to hear We've had a couple of people
and you included saying that the atmosphere was much better tonight.
That makes me feel a lot better because the the
big narrative after the first game against Toledo was the
crowd was not good, the environment was not good good,
the music was not good. They didn't play Grove Street. Well,

(35:03):
now you know, you're like the third or fourth person
said the atmosphere was good, the music was good. They
did play Grove Street. So it's good to hear all that.
As far as the students leading at halftime, I mean,
part of me is glad they stayed though halftime because
they was kind of starting to be a blowout. It
was starting to rain. It did rain a lot during
the first half, and I figured they'd probably all go

(35:24):
out there and go to their parties. But if it
was a bigger game and Kentucky stays in it, I
believe the students would stick around. I really do. I
think I've seen it before, where if they're if the
if they're engaged because the game is close, or is
it a good opponent. Like the Georgia game last year
when they had a chance to beat Georgia, they stayed
out I'm trying to think. I think they stayed most

(35:44):
of the game that game I was there, it seems
like they did. So uh, let's let's let's let's hold
out from some of these SEC games coming up, and
if Kentucky stays in it, maybe the crowd will all
stay there as well. Who's next? Guss Josh from Lexington Josh,
go ahead, Josh, Hey.

Speaker 11 (36:01):
Ryan, First of all, I want to say the atmosphere
has gotten a lot better.

Speaker 1 (36:05):
Well, see you're another one. You're like the fourth guy
that has said that tonight, So that makes me feel
pretty good about it.

Speaker 11 (36:11):
Yeah, I I the grow Street thing is what it is.
It's it's fun, it's it is what it is. But
we got to do something with the Blue White. The
blue White chant needs to be during timeouts, TV timeouts,
why there's nothing going on, get everybody into the game,
you know, cheering before we get to start playing. Then

(36:32):
everybody get loud.

Speaker 17 (36:33):
You know.

Speaker 11 (36:33):
It's just it's kind of silly right at this point now,
But I'm all for it. I love the chant. It's
just it's silly when we do it.

Speaker 1 (36:43):
Yeah, Josh, we appreciate it. Okay, Well, let's talk about
this blue white chant a little bit because one of
my really really good friends is the guy that came
up with this idea to do it. At the football
game Blue White, they put the graph pick up blue white,
and Josh is right. It works when they said it.

(37:04):
When they were doing it during the first half the night,
it came through the TV broadcast loud and clear. You
could tell the crowd was into it. They were doing
blue White, Blue White. I totally agree it's a great
thing that can should continue to do it. The debate
is should they do it during third down? I think
that's the debate because you're saying half the crowd shouldn't

(37:26):
scream during a big third down stop. When did when
Kentucky's on defense during third down? So I don't know,
but I'm all for it. I think my buddy's got
a great idea and it works at Kroger Field. Whether
it works during third down or not, I guess that's
the debate you can have, all right, guess Gus, Who's next?

Speaker 4 (37:45):
Two more? Seth?

Speaker 1 (37:47):
Seth? Go ahead, Seth.

Speaker 2 (37:50):
This is his daughter, Nadyah Me and my dad are
went home from my first game that we actually won.

Speaker 14 (37:58):
And this is my first.

Speaker 8 (38:01):
Who else uh who a.

Speaker 7 (38:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (38:03):
Absolutely. If you your first game that you went to
that they actually won, that definitely deserves it.

Speaker 16 (38:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 14 (38:11):
Well, the question that I had is what do you
think about Stoops Tom out on the defense before the
extra point was a forty minute second before half.

Speaker 1 (38:22):
Yeah, thank you, Dave. We appreciate the call that we
We've really not I'm trying to keep it positive. So
we've not talked about what happened again at the end
of the first half. Again, I don't know why, and
this will be something I'm sure we'll discuss on Monday
on KSR. The middle eight for this Stoops coached era

(38:42):
of UK football has to be so difficult, and especially
the last couple of minutes of the first half. This
is not something new and for it to happen, you know,
it happened to gets O missed. It was so bad
most people were ready to fire the coach, which was
a little ridiculous, but they were ready to fire the
coach because what happened to the end of the first
half against the ole Miss game tonight, They're up twenty

(39:06):
eight to six and they gave up ten points in
the last two minutes. Called that unnecessary time out I
just seem to once again be disorganized. You know, you
hear stoops all time. We're gonna clean that up. It
wasn't clean again. I just don't understand why they're having

(39:27):
so much problem there in the end of the first half.
And then they come out with the ball to start
the second half and they have to they punt it away.
I think they finally got a touchdown maybe on the
second possession, but I don't know. I didn't know if
aybody's gonna bring that up and we're gonna save it
until Monday. But once again, the end of the first

(39:49):
half stunk. It's like Bobby Washington when he's a head
coach of Brian Station Basketball one time, asking about how
the game went tonight, said stink stink stunk. That's what
the first half was against tonight. All right, our final
caller tonight, if it's a good one, Gus, who is it?

Speaker 4 (40:07):
Tyler?

Speaker 1 (40:08):
Tyler? Go ahead, Tyler, make it a good one.

Speaker 18 (40:12):
So it's an absolute privilege to be the last caller
on the KSR postgame s O tonight. Man, I being
the last caller, I got a lot of things I
want to talk about, but I feel like I got
to end with a positive note.

Speaker 9 (40:24):
Kill it.

Speaker 1 (40:24):
You're the last guy. You got to kill it.

Speaker 18 (40:26):
I'm gonna do my best. After watching cal Zada at
quarterbacks the last couple of games, I feel like Cutter
Bowlie he's our guy.

Speaker 9 (40:36):
I really do.

Speaker 18 (40:37):
I feel like he's our I don't want to say
he's our only shot at having a good season, but
I feel like he is a key piece seven a
good season, and I I think if he doesn't start
against South Carolina, we've got to really take a hard
look in the mirror. But I think it's Cutter Bowlie's
job right now. And uh, I think at tonight we

(41:01):
all know that. And I want him to. It's as
simple as that. I want him to be the guy.
And if he's not, I'm going to be mad. But
if he is, it's great and I think we've riding
died with him anyway.

Speaker 1 (41:15):
Thanks, Ryan, appreciate you. Tyler kind of Tyler kind of
say what I said to start the show. This it's
the Cutter Bowly era. The Cutter Bowly era began tonight.
He is your quarterback. He is the guy that you
want to build around for the next couple of years,
including this season. We don't need no back and forth

(41:36):
start one guy pulling play another guy. Make Cutter the guy.
There's no disrespect to Calzada, but if he's hurt, and
apparently he's hurt that the shoulder is not gonna hear
he overnight. It could be a lingering thing all season.
Name Cutter your quarterback. Let us get excited about Cutter
being our quarterback and let's build with Cutter as our quarterback.

(41:59):
That's what needs to be done, and hopefully they'll do
that at some point, well the next couple week, a
couple of weeks. All right, that'll do it for the
local totallys KSR postgame show Kentucky on Winter tonight forty
eight to twenty three. Sorry for all you guys on
Draft Kings that had Kentucky at twenty six or twenty
six and a half, don't blame they't blame me. And
by the way, the KSR parlay, yeah, you can kind

(42:23):
of blame me again on that. I think I had
Vanderbilt beating South Carolina, but Shannon the dude had SMU
beating Virginia Tech and that was a blowout and that
was the first loss, so that that's what killed the
KASR Parlay, not me picking Vanderbilt, South Carolina over Vanderbilt.
All right, everybody, have a good night. We'll see you

(42:44):
on KSR Monday morning. For Gus, for Ryan, we'll see
you
