Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome everyone. It is the local Toynda Dealers KSR postgame show.
The Cats get a necessary and important win against Indiana
at home seventy two sixty, the renewal of the rivalry
after over a decade of it line dormant Kentucky wins
(00:21):
kind of going away in the second half in a
surprising but very important victory. You can give us a
shout eight five to nine, two eighth twenty two eighty seven.
Will be taking your calls. I'm in Middlesbrough with my
with my parents here, so I'm this haven't done a
show here in a while, but glad to be with
you guys late on a Saturday night. I know the
(00:43):
weather is bad right now in Lexington and central Kentucky.
I'm told that it has dropped like ten degrees in
temperature in the last hour. So for people who are
driving home from the game, everybody please be careful because
I know it's not the best condition. It was really
good day for UK athletics. The volleyball team, of course,
makes the Final four, but on this basketball thing, this
(01:06):
was I think about as close as you can get
to a must win game in December. For a lot
of reasons. One, Katucky's has to start getting wins against
teams that are decent, even just for a tournament resume.
I mean, they've played four top twenty five teams going
into tonight and they've lost them all, which isn't the
worst thing in the world for your tournament resume, but
(01:27):
you got to beat somebody, and losing at home hurts
you double and they needed to win. And in the
first half it looked a lot like the Kentucky team
we've seen pretty much against every good team this year.
Staggnan on offense, Kentucky was kind of fortunate that Indiana
fouled quite a bit in the first half. Even though
Kentucky didn't shoot free throws great in the first half,
(01:49):
it kind of kept them going. But the second half
was a different Kentucky group, and the optimist within us
can say that's closer to the Kentucky team that was
envisioned before the season started. Two guys made the difference,
Jalen Lowe and Modia Bate. I don't think it's a
coincidence that those guys have been out. Diabate did not
(02:13):
play in the last couple of weeks, But really, in
terms of health. You haven't had those two guys together
since the Louisville game, and having them on the floor together,
they was a huge difference. Jayalen Low was plus twenty four.
I want you to think about that for a second.
Kentucky won by twelve. He was plus twenty four, whereas
(02:33):
and Modia Bate was plus eighteen. It was just a
different game when those guys were in. Diabate was a
beast on the glass, as was Brandon Garrison. This was
one of the few games against a good team this
year where Kentucky has had an obvious advantage in an area,
and that was on that was height and on the boards.
(02:55):
Kentucky did and you're gonna hear me talk about bark
and by tow in a minute. But Barkley did a
good job of calling this early. Barkley was like, you
got him via size. He basically said, just put the
ball up on the glass and get offensive rebounds. He
called that early and it ended up being a really
good strategy. Kentucky missed a lot of layups, but because
(03:16):
they were able to hit the glass get the offensive rebounds,
they got put backs, and I thought Diabat was excellent.
There's a picture that's gone viral, but it should. There's
a play where there are five Indiana guys under the
glass and one Kentucky guy, and the Kentucky guy was
Diabate and he got the rebound. Same thing with Brandon Garrison.
By the way, he's been kind of an easy dude
(03:37):
to give a hard time to this year, and I
think a lot of the year he's deserved it, but
not tonight. Played hard, really had a lot of energy
and aggression. I think the kind of spark that started
the second half, a lot of it was Brandon. I
think the energy he had in the first half when
they were struggling scoring. He had back to back scoring
(03:59):
plays that were big, and then of course the dunk
was nasty. Should have been an an one. I think
he deserves a lot of credit. Great game for Brandon
and then Jaylen Lowe. You know, Billy, I held on
to my Jayalen low Stock after everybody was telling you
it was over value. Yes, because you saw in the
second half tonight. He's not gonna be consistently great. He's
(04:22):
a streaky guy, but this team cannot be really good
without him. They just can't. He is again Barkley noted this,
but we've been saying this since the end of the year.
He's the only guy on the team who can consistently
get his own shot. That tonight, he missed that shot.
He missed a couple of layups. But he's the only
guy that can cross over his man consistently and get
(04:46):
his own shot and get open and then get other
guys open and get other guy shots. No one else
on the team can do that. You know, there's some
guys who can get buckets occasionally, but you know, I
like Denzel Aberdeen, but when he starts that crossback dribbling,
that's usually not going somewhere. Good Away can can like
bully his way into the to the basket, but he's
(05:09):
not a guy who can beat him, you know, beat
a player to the side. The Bigs, that's not their strength.
Lowe can do it, and it just opens everything up.
The moment he got in in both the first half
and the second half, it's just different with him. And
if he ever gets the point that he starts shooting
the ball, well, I mean, he was a ninety I
think Billy was a ninety one percent free throw shooter
(05:31):
at pitt and he missed three free throws tonight. But
if he gets the point that he starts shooting the ball, well, okay,
now it's a different thing because he was clearly hesitant
to shoot at times from the outside. But it's just
a different offensive team without him. Now he causes some
problems for you on the defensive end, But the rest
(05:52):
of the team's defense, I thought the defense was actually
great the whole game. In the first half, Kentucky played
really really poorly off but they stayed in the game
because of their defense and their energy. And I think
from a I mean NBA scored one hundred and seventeen
points against Penn State earlier this week, a Penn State
(06:12):
team that took Michigan State to the final horn today
one hundred and seventeen, and we held them to sixty. Now,
some of that was they couldn't really get in rhythm.
I think the constant foul calling probably helped us a
little bit because they never really got in the rhythm
of their offense. But we extended out on the shooters,
except at the very end, we did a pretty good
job of keeping them off the glass. And I thought
(06:36):
from an energy perspective, Kentucky gave energy all night. But
then they started to click in the second half, especially offensively,
and it's a positive step, you know. Excuse me, I
don't know. I don't know if this team can be
really good. I still think, you know, I want to
(06:59):
see low I want to see what happens when Quaintance comes.
There's a lot of things I want to see. But
they had looked abysmal in some of these games, and tonight,
in the second half, you started to see a team
that you were hoping to see, and you started to
see a team that can have success, that can beat
(07:19):
and play with good teams. I mean, I kind of
wish which we could have just pulled out that North
Carolina game, because your resume looks very different if you
win that. But you go, we play Saint John's next Saturday.
Saint John's has struggled. They don't really have a point
guard like we haven't had most of the year. So
I think that's a winnable game for us Saturday, and
(07:40):
now I feel like there's a chance we can actually
win it, which is not necessarily something I felt like
earlier today. Two things before we take a break and
then get to your calls. I liked Barkley and by Town.
You didn't get to hear it right, Billy, so you
didn't get under it. I could have done without the
camera on them even though. But like for me, Dick
(08:03):
vital to me is college basketball on television and Charles
Barkley might be my favorite non Kentucky basketball player of
all time. And I think he's the best former player
sports announcer in any sport ever. And you put the
to him on a game, it's a Kentucky game. That's
kind of cool that they're on a Kentucky game, and
(08:27):
I enjoyed it. I actually thought, you know, it's Claire
Barkley hasn't watched us play. He discovered Jayalen Lowe was
on the team, I think during the game. But I
actually thought his analysis was pretty good. He called early
on that we were not spread out and we were
not getting any offensive movement. He noted the two guys
(08:48):
that changed the game when they came in. I actually
thought he did a really good job of talking about
the problem. And he had a great line where he
said Dick Viteo said, well, now they're getting paid or
something like that, and he said, well, you can't get
paid and lose, which is what was happening. I do
want to know where he ate his fried chicken. You
(09:09):
didn't hear that, Billy. He said that he had the
best fried chicken of his life in Lexington last night,
but he didn't say what the restaurant was, right like
that restaurant? I think. I think it was Frankendino's, but
I don't know. And now I want to have the chicken.
(09:30):
If Charles Barkley, who grew up in Alabama is telling
me that the best fried chicken he's ever had in
his life is in Lexington, don't you want to know
where that is?
Speaker 2 (09:37):
Oh, it'd get overrun, just like Sissy.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
I think it would be like the best thing that
could happen. But he didn't say the name of the place.
But I think it was Frankidino's. But I could be wrong.
Don't everybody go rushing for the fried chicken there until
we get confirmation. But I thought he was good. And
people are like, well, they didn't talk a lot about
the game. I mean, what did you think when it
was those two But those two guys will go down
(10:00):
in history as two as maybe the two most important
basketball announcers of all time. Dick and college and Charles
in the NBA, and to have him in rub and
to have Charles talk about Reperena in Kentucky basketball like
he did. He said like it was a religious experience
the first time he came to Reperena. That's a cool thing.
So there'll be plenty of games where we can get
(10:20):
analysis at the game. I actually thought tonight was kind
of awesome. And then secondly, I do want to say
this like I'm at home, obviously I wanted to I'm
visiting my parents. It was very cool to get to
watch that game tonight with my dad and watch us
win that game. You know, it's very cool. Kentucky basketball
(10:45):
unites people in families and the like, and I'm very
grateful I got to have that this evening. So I
missed the pregame show today, but I also appreciate everybody
understanding that to do the show tonight. But that was
also a very cool thing for me personally. Eight five
nine two A twenty two eighty seven. We will take
(11:08):
your calls. The weather is bad not here, but it
is where a lot of you are, so stay warm
and we'll be up with you tonight. We'll take a
break of me right back. This is the Local Toy
Dealers KSR postgame show. Welcome back. It is the Local
Toy Dealers KSR postgame show. All right, So a number
of you have written me and said it was the American.
(11:29):
I guess he said down the broadcast. I don't know
how I missed that because I heard him talk about
I heard him talking about the woman in the kitchen
that he thought worked there, but I didn't hear it
was the American. That's the most good publicity, Billy the
American's gotten since Billy Clyde was in town back in
the day. One of the great Billy Clyde legends was
(11:51):
at the American. Although I don't know if it was
Nobody ever really knew if it was true. But I
haven't been to the American to eat. Maybe I used
to go with my family, but it's probably been ten years.
So now maybe we have to go for the fried chicken.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
Right, it will be a little busy for a while.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
Maybe it might be busy. That might be the best,
the best advertisement it's gonna be. It's for all y'all. Billy.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
I hadn't heard that enough.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
I got to eat at the Gondolier in Harrogate, Tennessee.
It's pretty much the same eight oh, twenty two eighty seven.
Let's get by the way, Alabama is getting run off
the court by Arizona. Arizona and Michigan are like both
really really, really good, and Arkansas one today too, So
(12:45):
who knows, maybe Arkansas and Cal might be one of
the favorites, although they remember Arkansas did almost lose a
Winthrop in Sanford. So with Cal, you give it and
you were take it away. But there's still UCLA and Gonzaga. Tonight,
who's up first?
Speaker 2 (12:59):
James?
Speaker 1 (13:00):
James? Go ahead? James? Is it me? I guess it is? Yes,
go ahead? All right.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
So I've been screaming about platoon. I don't know for
a month now, but why did Cal do a platoon
in twenty fifty?
Speaker 1 (13:20):
Is that what you're leading with after we just won?
Speaker 4 (13:23):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (13:24):
I am okay, You've waited ten years to ask that question.
Speaker 3 (13:30):
No, I'm just asking tonight.
Speaker 1 (13:32):
Okay. Well, I appreciate the call because he had a
lot of good players, but I'm not going to focus
on that tonight. Let me. I actually thought where you
were going with that was Pope narrowed the lineup in
the second half. Basically for most of the second half
only played six dudes. He essentially was playing Low, O Way, Williams, Garrison,
(13:56):
Diabat and then he gave a few minutes to Aberdeen,
not a lot. I mean, he basically stuck with those
guys and it kind and it worked. You know, Chandler
didn't really get in much in the second half. Noah
didn't really get in much in the second half. Moreno
really didn't play. I thought that lineup worked. You know.
(14:18):
Oh Way is so much better when he can kind
of be in that secondary row and obviously Low controlling
the game, and Diabate hitting the glass, and Cam Williams
I thought played pretty well. Uh, first of all, we
got to start those guys. We started the first half
poorly and the second half was starting poorly offensively, and
(14:38):
then he immediately put Low in. Low and Diabate should
start every game from now on. I think Low, Oway
and Diabate are in. I'm open to switching at the
other positions, but Low, Oway, Diabate. I cannot imagine a
scenario where those three guys shouldn't start and everybody else,
you know, I could see Chandler, I could see Aberdeen,
(15:00):
I could see Cam Williams. I could even see Garrison Moreno,
but you gotta you gotta have those guys in at
the beginning games. Who's next, Austin, Austin, go ahead, Austin.
Speaker 4 (15:11):
Hey, gentlemen, how are you all doing tonight?
Speaker 1 (15:13):
Doing good?
Speaker 5 (15:16):
Good to hear it, Matt, great job, Diamond, hands on.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
Jalen Lowe.
Speaker 6 (15:19):
I was right there with you.
Speaker 1 (15:21):
Well, I just I don't know. And he's gonna have
bad games, okay, he is. He is going. You know,
he made some bad plays at them in the Louisville game.
We're gonna have to live with that. But without him,
we ain't beating anybody good without him.
Speaker 5 (15:37):
In my opinion, I agree tonight was much needed. I
was ready to throw the towel in on this season
if we didn't win tonight.
Speaker 6 (15:45):
So h this was a big one for us, and
I'm glad we got it. But I'll shut up unless
you let you guys me too.
Speaker 1 (15:51):
I agree, And I thought the first half was one
of the more miserable halves of basketball by both teams
I've ever seen. And then I thought looked great and said,
I really thought we played really, really well in the
second half in the crowd. Again, I wasn't there, but
I'd be interested if somebody was at the game. The
crowd seemed awesome on TV, Like it really seemed like
(16:12):
that place in the second half was rocking. I'd be
interested those of you that were there. Is that correct?
Because it just felt like one of those great atmospheres
in that second half, And when we went on what
a seventeen to two run in just a few minutes,
that would have been one of those. I think it
would have been really really cool to be in the building.
Who's next, Heather, Heather, go ahead, Heather.
Speaker 7 (16:36):
Well, hello there. I haven't top to you in a while, so, like,
I feel like I've got a lot to air out here.
But first I want to say priors to Larry and
your mom and you.
Speaker 1 (16:52):
Thank you. She's listening downstairs and he is asleep, but
I will pass it.
Speaker 7 (16:56):
On, okay. And then I'm I too left. Dicky V
and Chuck something different and I loved hearing them. And
then uh, tonight, I really felt like I was watching
a whole different team. They had energy and effort.
Speaker 8 (17:17):
They was tough.
Speaker 7 (17:18):
I mean, we ain't had really a lot of toughness
out of any of our players, and then mo dia
Bote comes in and it's like he's incredible Hulk or something,
you know, just showing toughness and rebounding. Lord, I scream
at my TV every game, like somebody get in there
(17:41):
and rebound, and it was nice to just see him
rebound tonight.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
It was they did a great job that you're exactly
right about that. Nice to hear from you, Heather, by
the way, I uh, glad to hear your voice. Appreciate
the call. I love the toughness I thought they gave
even though they did not play well in the first half,
I thought they gave energy the whole game. I loved,
you know, the Gonzaga game was such a meltdown in
every way that having that energy, and I again not
(18:10):
to keep praising Barkley, but Barkley said that at one point,
he's like, they're not playing well, but they are playing hard,
and that's true. I think they were, and then it
started to click in the second half. And I don't
think there's gonna be a lot of games this year
where we're gonna be tougher inside than the other teams.
Maybe some, but not a lot. But we were tonight,
(18:30):
and so we needed to take advantage of it, and
we did. And you know, Indiana is not an athletic
team and they don't have a lot of size, and
we were able to take advantage. And then I don't
think you can dismiss Lamar Wilkinson getting in voul trouble.
He got his fourth foul early in the second half,
and that took away. They just didn't have a whole
lot of offense outside of him, which is crazy to think.
(18:52):
They scored one hundred and seventeen the other night and
they didn't have a lot of offense. They just didn't. And
we did a good job of getting out on their
three point shooters and contests. I thought, I thought we
did a really excellent job at that. Who's up next, Larry, Larry?
Go ahead, Larry.
Speaker 9 (19:08):
This is Bird Dix and Larry Bird. But I know
made I just wanted you're going for his dad?
Speaker 1 (19:17):
Okay? Thanks?
Speaker 9 (19:18):
My name is Larry and his dad's name Larry. But
he's Middlesburg. I worked over her a lot.
Speaker 1 (19:26):
But where do you live, Larry or where do you
live Larry?
Speaker 9 (19:31):
I live in Lesley County.
Speaker 1 (19:32):
Leslie County? All right? Good deal?
Speaker 9 (19:36):
Yeah, yeah, and uluss y'all all the time and listen everything.
You're pretty well on about nine percent time. But that's
pretty good. I can be.
Speaker 1 (19:51):
You know what, what what can I ask you? Where?
Where are the ten percent where I mess up?
Speaker 9 (20:00):
We should have kept States because we don't have no
money on football because basketball, guess it. But I'm I
watch on the radio. I listen to UK. I don't
watch TV. I watched on the radio. This old woman
called in said, I watched it on the radio.
Speaker 1 (20:23):
There you go. Well, Larry, my my good friend, my
good friend, Chris Moseley used his dad used to own
the NAPA there I think so. I don't know if
he still does.
Speaker 9 (20:33):
Cheers chin, we out in cheers chin. I played football
with Lys County.
Speaker 4 (20:39):
Yep.
Speaker 9 (20:40):
Football.
Speaker 1 (20:40):
You're good?
Speaker 9 (20:42):
Well, you well good.
Speaker 1 (20:46):
I just Chris the other day, y'all.
Speaker 9 (20:48):
Every night, whatever the game is, I list you out.
Speaker 4 (20:53):
See, thank you.
Speaker 9 (20:55):
It's gonna turn you back on.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
So you appreciate it. Thank you. See. Billy liked him.
Speaker 10 (21:02):
What.
Speaker 1 (21:03):
I have a soft spot for people from eastern Kentucky.
And that's Larry, and he knew. I've never heard my
friend Chris's dad called. Did he say chisel Chin. I
didn't I didn't understand that. But you know what, I'll
ask Chris if that's true.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
The light up when he mentioned that, that one.
Speaker 1 (21:23):
I mean, I'm sure everybody it's the NAPA store and Leslie.
I'm sure. I'm sure they knew him. I mean, there's
only one, so I'm sure they knew him.
Speaker 2 (21:31):
Who's next, Butler?
Speaker 1 (21:33):
Butler, go ahead.
Speaker 11 (21:34):
Butler, Hey man, how you doing?
Speaker 4 (21:37):
Brother?
Speaker 1 (21:38):
Doing good?
Speaker 11 (21:41):
First of all, I hope your dad is doing good.
Speaker 4 (21:43):
Is he all right?
Speaker 1 (21:44):
He's doing okay? But thank you for thank you for asking.
We had a we had a good day, so thank you.
Speaker 4 (21:51):
Okay.
Speaker 11 (21:51):
Well, Second of all, everybody always asks how the person
in need is doing. How are you and your mom
in the close family doing. That's that's just as important.
Speaker 4 (22:02):
You know.
Speaker 11 (22:02):
People don't ever ask that. They need to ask that,
how are you all holding up?
Speaker 1 (22:07):
It's very nice of you to say, and we're doing
all right. My mom's you know, she's also she's got
a lot going on too, so uh but yes, thank
you for asking that.
Speaker 4 (22:19):
You're very welcome me.
Speaker 11 (22:20):
You all were there from me when my dad was
in the hospital.
Speaker 4 (22:22):
You even gave me tickets to a football.
Speaker 11 (22:24):
Game and all that, and that that helped in that
time of need. You know, you're going through a rough
spell and any little thing like that helped. So nobody
ever asks how the family's done. They asked how the
person in the situation is done, but they don't ask
about the family of any Well.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
Thank prayers to you, and I hope things are going
well with you. I remember you now and I hope
things are going all right. Thank you for calling.
Speaker 4 (22:50):
Oh, you're very welcome.
Speaker 11 (22:51):
But my question is do you think going forward now?
Do you think we're back on track or do you think.
Speaker 8 (22:57):
This was a Yeah?
Speaker 1 (22:58):
I don't know. I mean I I think we'll know
a lot more on Saturday. I don't think Indiana is
very good, but at the same time, I don't think
North Carolina was very good and we lost to them,
So yeah, it's certainly more positive. Let's see how we
do against Saint John's win or lose. I want to
(23:19):
see that the offense that I saw in that second half,
because we saw this is the first time in the
second half in my opinion, that the offenses looked good
since that stretch of the Louisville game where we came back.
You know, because we were down like twenty and we
cut it to four. I don't really know that the
offenses look good since then, and I think it looked
(23:40):
good tonight and I and so I want to see
can we continue that.
Speaker 11 (23:45):
Do you think Jalen Lowell is back now full time
or do.
Speaker 1 (23:48):
You think well, I mean, they played him a lot
in that second half. I was worried because he only
played seven minutes in the first half, and so I
was thinking, like, they just only go to playing fifteen minutes,
but then they played him sixteen minutes in the second
and half. Basically they only took him out. They didn't
start him. He came in two minutes in and then
he set out two minutes in the middle. So if
(24:09):
he's playing that much, then I gotta think they're gonna
keep playing him. So so I hope the answer that
question is yes.
Speaker 12 (24:17):
Okay.
Speaker 11 (24:18):
My last thing is do you think our defense should
not be I mean, in the beginning of the season,
I remember Ryan Woman saying that this Dackham good defense.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
Should have been but but but you got to play
the right guys, so and it's good to hear from you.
I appreciate the call. So the problem is this is
how I would read the defensive side. We Diabate is
a really good defender, and he was out right. I
think all the guys were mispositioned, and then I don't
(24:53):
think we were given effort. And I think Brandon Garrison,
who should be a good defender and was good tonight,
was not playing with And then we have a couple
of guys who just are not good defenders. Okay, Trenta
is not a great defender, and so when when he's
playing a lot, that's gonna hurt you a little bit.
I think Cam Williams got a great block on that three,
but he had not been playing well on defense. I
(25:15):
actually thought he was good tonight. Moreno is a good
perimeter defender, not a great interior defender. So I mean
we were having to play some guys who maybe that
wasn't their strength. Chandler has played good defense some this year,
but but tonight especially was not. Lowe is not a
good defender, but you gotta have him on for the offense.
The one thing low can do is get you steals.
(25:37):
He kind of got the steal that sort of ended
the game. But uh, I thought, oh Way played really
good defense tonight too. This is the So if Kentucky's good,
this is an Oway night, right, Like we can't. If
we were waiting on o Way to score twenty three,
I think you're in trouble if you're if you're I mean,
if that's what you're waiting on tonight. To me is
(25:59):
always kind not because like you don't think about him
and then you look up and let's see what did
he have here? Let me pull it up. Oway had
ten points, well, four rebounds. He didn't have as me
as I thought, but ten to fifteen is where you
want him and playing good defense, and I thought he
ended up with that tonight. The three he hit was big.
(26:19):
We hadn't We didn't. I don't think we'd hit a
three yet. And then he hit one that I think
cut it to a two point game. Eight five, nine,
twenty two, eighty seven. Let's take a break. Gonzaga and
UCLA starting. Uh now, this is part of the year.
We probably want Gonzaga to win games like this, so
we need to pull for him. Top twenty five match up.
This is the game we played in last year. It's
in Seattle. We'll take a break and be right back.
(26:41):
This is the local Toylet Dealers KSR post game show,
So Billy during the break, I was trying to think.
I was thinking about Lelarry that called and said that
chisel chin right right, but that you know, it didn't
occur to me. I think of someone having a chise
old chin. But that's probably the same thing, right, It's
just more some people add the ed is it? Well?
(27:04):
I look it up and it says chisel chin is
someone who has a strong, well defined jaw line with
sharp angles, symbolizing confidence, strength, and attractiveness. And uh, they're
showing examples and and yeah, that's a chisel chin. And
my friend Chris Mosley has it. So I don't know
if he was talking about his dad or him, but
I don't think either one of them thought they were
gonna get this much airtime, at least that their chin
(27:26):
would on the post game show. Right.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
How handsome they are, I guess yeah?
Speaker 1 (27:30):
I mean, who knew? And Leslie County, Uh you getting
that kind of that kind of run if I'm nine
twenty eighty seven. A couple things I'd like everybody to, uh,
prayers for the stuff for the situation at Brown University tonight.
(27:51):
I don't think they still have not caught the shooter, right,
am I right about that, Billy, This mass shooter tonight.
Speaker 2 (27:57):
I had not heard of this news.
Speaker 4 (27:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (27:58):
Just at the Brown University. Two students I think are
dead and they are like eight seriously wounded. Kids were
studying I don't know if it's in the library or
studying somewhere for finals and a shooter opened up fire.
You know, my friend Craig Greenberg, who's the mayor of Louisville,
his son goes there. So you know, they still have
(28:20):
not caught the person. So H prayers to to everyone
there that every hopefully everybody. Uh yeah, So a Brown
University professor says that the shooting broke out in a
review session for an economics class.
Speaker 2 (28:35):
That's awful, terrible.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
Hey, five nine, twenty eighty seven. Who's up next?
Speaker 2 (28:40):
Kyle is next?
Speaker 1 (28:41):
Kyle, go ahead, Kyle.
Speaker 4 (28:44):
Go Kats, go cats.
Speaker 12 (28:46):
I'm going to say, but Terry Mayers interrupted episode.
Speaker 4 (28:51):
Matt was very good.
Speaker 12 (28:52):
Just love that, so I have to get out of it.
Speaker 1 (28:54):
Thank you. We got a lot of good, tough feedback
on that, and I appreciate that he and I both
probably got a little more in depth than we thought.
Speaker 12 (29:03):
We would, but go ahead, you did, but I take
I'll go all the way back to the airly the
eighties with that guy. But uh man, the crowd at
rough was just lit up. You can just tell you
coming through on TV. The energy was there and it
seemed to really rub off on the players. But man,
one thing I saw. Did you see the stupid sign
dispy dude, dunk aaroo?
Speaker 4 (29:25):
It's dipsy dude. Can't they spell that right up there?
Speaker 1 (29:28):
Oh? Did they spell it? Was it a student sign
or sign?
Speaker 12 (29:33):
But they just kept showing it, you know, dispy dude.
Come on, guys, yeah it is.
Speaker 1 (29:38):
Although I do wonder like if a kid, if it
was in the student section, Like do kids in college
remember how big a deal Dick Vital.
Speaker 4 (29:47):
Was, Like that was very true.
Speaker 1 (29:51):
I mean he was doing and I appreciate the call.
He was doing game. He's been doing games this whole time,
but post COVID he doesn't. It's not he hasn't done
as many. But yeah, I don't know, because like in
my era, he's a legend. But I don't know if
like college kids now, if that's what do you think, Billy,
I mean, you're a little younger, what are you thirty.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
I'm thirty. I remember Prime dig Vitel, but.
Speaker 1 (30:14):
So you you because like they showed the Watford shot
he was doing that game. You know that was twenty eleven,
twenty twelve seasons.
Speaker 2 (30:21):
So yeah, Mario doesn't give me a lot of hope
for what these kids know from back in the day.
Speaker 1 (30:25):
Honestly, you're you're like, what are you like three years
older than him? Like you know what that like?
Speaker 2 (30:30):
You're four years older than four? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (30:32):
Okay. By the way, we crashed the American website. I
mean it's it doesn't work right now, I guess from
people looking up the chicken.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
Thank you, sir, Charles, Yeah, no kidding, Who's next?
Speaker 1 (30:45):
Stub stub May five, nine two, twenty two eighty seven.
Speaker 13 (30:49):
Go ahead, So the job pant wearing bob not boot
Liquors can go back to Indiana and stuck on chili dogs.
Speaker 14 (31:02):
Outside the tasty freeze.
Speaker 4 (31:04):
This was a big win. Go Cats.
Speaker 1 (31:09):
I appreciate it, appreciate the call. If I was an
Indiana fan, I would not have enjoyed the broadcast because
it felt like to me by Dal and Charles only
talked about Kentucky. At one point, Charles Barkley said, get
in on a Jalen Low shot like he's like. I
think Charles especially was actively rooting for Kentucky. I don't
(31:33):
know what India, but I cannot imagine Indiana fans enjoyed
that broadcast. I just can't. Maybe they did. Let's one
second because I forgot to do this a minute ago. Volleyball,
the women make it to the final four. I heard
an amazing crowd at the volleyball game. Mario was there,
said it was like wild. They will now make the
(31:53):
final four. To Pitt, is that who we play next? Pitt?
Speaker 2 (31:58):
Let me look it up here.
Speaker 1 (31:59):
Pitt beat beat. I think Pitt beat Perdue, and I
think we play them next, but we will be in
the final four. That game is Thursday night in Kansas City.
We will have a watch party at the bar. That
should be a lot of fun Thursday night, and then
the finals, I believe are on Sunday. So I think
(32:21):
the semifinals are on Thursday, and then if we win,
the finals are on on Sunday. I believe we play
we play Pitt, and I think that's one of the
two teams this year that beat us. If I'm correct,
We've lost twice Nebraska, and I think the other one.
Speaker 2 (32:36):
Was today, So yeah, and I think one of our
two losses is to Pitt So congratulations though to Craig Skinner.
Speaker 1 (32:43):
Only the second final four in the history of the
school and they dominated today one the kind of won
every set going away. Who's next, Jeff, Jeff, go ahead.
Speaker 6 (32:54):
Jeff A, Matt, Steven Barton, are tonight?
Speaker 1 (32:58):
What's going on? I'm good.
Speaker 6 (33:01):
I'm actually a student in the UK. And just to
answer your original question about and dig Battel, dig Botel
is basketball royalty. People have controversial opinions about him. I
think he's great, he's awesome, diaper danity and all that stuff.
But the reason I called the night was I was
actually the student that hit the half quote and that
was pretty excited.
Speaker 1 (33:17):
Okay, so yeah, you hit the shot. They showed this
on ESPN for ten thousand dollars. Uh, your celebration was
actually muted. I would have thought if I had hit it,
I'd have been going crazy. You did? Were you expecting
to make it?
Speaker 6 (33:32):
Honestly, I knew it was going in from the very second.
I was missing the first two on purpose. Actually it
was all scripted, you know. You gotta hype up the
crowd beforehand, and then all right, I got people.
Speaker 1 (33:43):
You got to do three? You got? You got three shots?
Is that right? You missed the first two and made
the third.
Speaker 6 (33:50):
Yes, sir, you gotta miss the first two. Pump up
the crowd, get the crowd reaction, and then swish. No backboard,
no nothing, just a splush.
Speaker 1 (33:56):
Okay, Can I tell you the only thing I was
disappointed in when I saw it on the rep. If
i'm either and I make that shot, how did you
not run over and hug Barkley and Vitale.
Speaker 4 (34:10):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (34:11):
Those guys have to be treated with higher respect.
Speaker 4 (34:13):
I don't want to.
Speaker 1 (34:16):
Fair enough. Fair enough, that's a good answer. Not so
what are you gonna do with the money?
Speaker 4 (34:22):
I have no idea.
Speaker 6 (34:22):
Honestly, my college didn't. I'm probably end up saving or
putting in towards.
Speaker 1 (34:26):
Just remember, save about three thousand bucks or maybe a
little bit more for your taxes. All right. I don't
want you to get a bill at the end of
the year and you're not being able to pay it.
Speaker 4 (34:34):
I'm an accounting major.
Speaker 6 (34:35):
Trust I know what that's all about.
Speaker 1 (34:36):
Oh okay, well, good, you didn't you didn't need me. Well, congrats,
good nice shot, well done, all right, thank you appreciate
your call.
Speaker 2 (34:43):
What about that?
Speaker 1 (34:45):
Yeah, that was that was smooth. Nothing but nat he
just he just held up his hand like he knew
that that was gonna Like Steph just knew it was
gonna go in. I would have run over to Barkley.
You know, I've known Dick Vitell for a while, but
I've only met Barkley once. He was very nice, but like,
that's my dude. I mean, Barkley, Corneiser, Letterman, like Starre,
(35:07):
those are my guys. And I really wish. I can't
believe he was there tonight. Who's next?
Speaker 2 (35:12):
Speaking of dudes, Matt, let's give our Johnny Rocker personal
injury attorney, moneymaker of the game. Injured get small town
capassion with big city results when you call the Rocker
at two seven zero three two one four four two
nine and tonight was about mow and low. But our
moneymaker tonight goes to Brandon Garrison six points three or
six from the field. He had five rebounds, two of
them being offensive rebound. But I thought he brought a
(35:34):
necessary energy tonight. He got, you know, sat down for
the entire second half last game, could have easily quit,
but he came back and showed some toughness. I'm giving
him our moneymaker of the game tonight.
Speaker 1 (35:44):
Is that like your sports announcer voice there it is?
Speaker 2 (35:48):
It is, yes, just for one segment.
Speaker 1 (35:50):
All right, Well, it's very good and I agree with you.
Brandon Garrison. Think you look dude did not play the
last twenty eight minutes of the game against North Carolina Central.
Uh Mark Pope said in one of his two postgame comments.
I'm not sure which one, but he said something to
the effect of, I rarely lose my temper on guys,
because I don't think you can do that anymore. Excuse me,
(36:10):
But he basically acknowledged that he did it with Brandon Garrison,
and it must have worked because that's the best game
he's played this year. He played the way he played
last year. That's how he played last year. When he's
playing well, energy, hitting the glass, that's the Brandon Garrison
that you really were excited to have come back, and
(36:33):
really we had not seen it, I think at all
this year until that game. And so that that also
is is a good sign. Who's next? Cadence Cadence go ahead, Cadence.
Speaker 10 (36:45):
So, first of what you were saying earlier about the
crowd being lit on the broadcast, I was there. It
was incredible, one of the best atmospheres. It was similar
to the UNC game, which I was also about. It
was pretty nice. Second of all, I agree about Brendan Garrison.
I don't think that he could have done anything better
(37:07):
than just come on and just absolutely play his butt off,
like getting off intove rebounds. We haven't seen up him
this year. I thought it was big of them to
do that.
Speaker 1 (37:16):
Yeah, I agree, I agree. And so the crowd, I mean,
the crowd is a huge part of this because especially
kind of to start the second half, I think the
crab was a big part of getting of getting the
energy to make the run. Crowd was loud. I think
it was only Indiana's second true road game, and so
(37:37):
anytime these teams go on the road for the first time.
We saw this when we went to Louisville, like teams
get kind of raddled first time they're on a true
road game, and this was only their second. My guess
is that crowd for that Minnesota game wasn't much, so
this was probably the first time they had faced a
real environment.
Speaker 10 (37:53):
Yes, sir. And one more thing, I think that aro
our crowd is getting big, Like when we get those
points in transition and we're just running up and down,
the four teams can't keep up with us, and that's
when we get in the game and it's.
Speaker 1 (38:05):
Just like you can't yep, appreciate it. Call. It's another
thing Barkley said, getting transition. And I also think this
crowd was cheering effort. I think the effort was so
bad against Gonzaga, and it was that the team that
the crowd just wanted to see effort, and they got
a lot of it. Tonight we actually play Billy the
(38:25):
winner of Texas Wisconsin tomorrow, so we might play Texas
for a third time. Oh and I believe both of
those other Texas games have gone to five sets. So
I'm gonna pull for Wisconsin tomorrow, but it will probably
be Texas, probably be another Kentucky tech more Marcus spears
on my screen.
Speaker 2 (38:44):
Oh that's right. He was their cheerleader in the in
the stands for that.
Speaker 1 (38:47):
Well, we've already had one. We've actually already had two
watch parties at Kspar for Kentucky Texas. We had that
was our one. So we've had two and we've won
both of them. So let's keep it going. Who's next, Drew,
go ahead, Drew hey Man.
Speaker 15 (39:04):
I thought Cam Williams was a very underrated player today,
even though he airballed and got roasted by Charles Barkley.
I feel like he played great defense and a bad shot.
Speaker 1 (39:14):
What do you think happened on that? That was? Like
that was a really really bad shot, but go ahead.
Speaker 15 (39:21):
Yeah, he just hasn't hit a three team to hit
a three all year teams. But if that's the energy
we get from one broken clipboard, I say we send
Mark Coch all the clipboards he wants. I love the
energy tonight from all the players. And final thing is
my favorite Charles and Dicky V moment was when Charles
asked Dicky V if Patino won the championships at Louisville,
(39:44):
and Dicky V said no.
Speaker 1 (39:46):
Yeah, I don't know if I think Dick I think
Dicky V forgot, but it actually kind of worked, you
know what I mean. Like I don't think he was
trying to make a joke, but it kind of worked as.
Speaker 2 (39:55):
A joke, So yeah, it worked out anyway.
Speaker 1 (39:58):
It worked out, So I liked it. I appreciate, appreciate
the call. Apparently they're doing one more game to gain.
I think they're doing one of the like the first
four in the NCAA tournament. I think they're gonna do
that together as well. But all right, let's take a
break A five nine twenty two eighty seven. We will
come back for our final segment. This is the Local
(40:18):
Toy Dealers KSR postgame show, Welcome Back. It is a
Local Toy Dealers KSR postgame show. A couple of other
things went on tonight. John Cena lost his final match
in the WWE tapped out. You guys call all right, Billy,
you call tapped out? Yeah, but you go out on
your back? Yeah, Like people were outraged. People were outraged.
(40:41):
Don't know anything about wrestling. You go out on your back.
Every major wrestler in history has gone on their back
except Sting, And everybody widely says that that was the
worst decision because they had Sting win his last match,
and you don't. You don't win your last match if
it's like planned, everybody loses. So now he tapped out.
That's a little surprising because you know his thing is
(41:03):
don't ever give up, and he gave up.
Speaker 2 (41:06):
Why do you make them lose? Wouldn't you want to
give them their flowers for their last matter?
Speaker 1 (41:09):
No, because you go it's wrestling. You go out on
your back so that you build someone else up. It's
like you're paying your dues. Okay, yeah, you know you're saying,
I'm going to take this rub of my final match
and I'm going to give someone else a career boost
from it. So they usually have them lose to somebody
that is like up and coming. Now, Gunther's not up
(41:30):
and coming. He's been around for a long time, but
like he'll always be the guy known is ending his career, right, Yeah,
so that's that's why you do it. The Spurs and
the just one against the Thunder. So the Spurs and
the Knicks will play for the NBA Cup. Do you
care about the NBA Cup.
Speaker 2 (41:49):
I'm just glad the courts will be gone soon.
Speaker 1 (41:52):
Well that's Tuesday night, the NBA Cup. Can you tell
me who has won the other two NBA Cups.
Speaker 2 (42:01):
The Lakers won it because they treated it like their
Mickey Mouse Championship. They had a couple The Lakers did
win it.
Speaker 1 (42:06):
Now, can you tell me who won it last year.
Speaker 2 (42:08):
No, is it the Pacers?
Speaker 1 (42:13):
I think it's milwakee M see if that's right. The
Lakers won the first one. I think it was Milwaukee,
see if that's right of the Bucks.
Speaker 2 (42:26):
Yeah, I know my NBA cup.
Speaker 1 (42:30):
Uh did I hear you? I thought I was doing
TV for the New Orleans Bowl?
Speaker 2 (42:37):
Yeah? Yeah at one point.
Speaker 1 (42:38):
Why did you think that?
Speaker 2 (42:40):
I didn't know, Like, I'm not on.
Speaker 1 (42:43):
I'm not on the SPO TV. Yeah, I'm on the radio.
I thought they were just gonna advance me to television
for you. Yeah, I thought you Okay, you thought, having
never called, never calling a football game in my life,
they would put me on television do it? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (43:00):
I thought they had the faith in you.
Speaker 1 (43:02):
But you know, well they did.
Speaker 2 (43:03):
People were giving me a hard time. I would argue
the stats stayed the same if I was giving you.
But you're not gonna be able to go, right, No,
I can't go.
Speaker 1 (43:10):
Yeah. So so now I'm gonna have to find a
new stats guy.
Speaker 2 (43:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (43:16):
So I'm trying to think.
Speaker 2 (43:19):
They don't know what they're getting into it.
Speaker 1 (43:20):
I can't take a Ryan Tru's busy. I don't know.
Mario is not really a stats guy yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (43:31):
I guess i'll and I asked them for I guess
I'll just use one of their default Yeah.
Speaker 1 (43:36):
Yeah, well it's a shame. It would have been nice.
But you know what, you're too cool. Well, I can
call it.
Speaker 2 (43:41):
Sounds like you're gonna take calls on the broadcast.
Speaker 1 (43:44):
You should, you should call it. You should have takes.
Who's up next?
Speaker 2 (43:48):
Brad?
Speaker 1 (43:48):
Brad? Go ahead, Brad?
Speaker 8 (43:51):
Hey, mat first time?
Speaker 4 (43:52):
Long time?
Speaker 1 (43:53):
Who are what's up?
Speaker 4 (43:55):
Hey? Uh? Just a great wain.
Speaker 16 (43:58):
We needed death, certainly against the Rapel State. I wanted
to pick your brain on what you meant exactly by
the inside presence. How we took advantage of that. I
think we played great and it's good see Garrison make
a great effort finally, but we were out rebounded by Indiana.
Speaker 4 (44:16):
And it's kind of hard to belay.
Speaker 1 (44:17):
Yeah, but we were. But that's I actually think though.
I believe our points in the paint and our points
in the paint and points off transition were a lot.
I believe we had a big advantage on that. I
saw the stat at some point in during the game.
I don't remember what it was. I think they had
let's see, they had in terms of turnovers, they had
(44:37):
eighteen turnovers. We only had four. We were out rebound
all that.
Speaker 4 (44:41):
That's a huge deal.
Speaker 1 (44:43):
We were out rebounding. We had offensive rebounds. We had
fourteen and they had eight. So and I think a
lot of our offensive rebounds we scored off of So
I think what, right, I think total rebounds is sometimes
a misleading stat right, because you know, and they got
(45:04):
some offensive rebounds at the end on long threes, you know,
those last few possessions where they shoot a long three
or you shoot a three, be a long rebound, they'd
get it, they'd get another three, miss it. Uh. But
I just felt like we had an advantage. I mean,
Barkley noted that in the first half, and then I
think we took advantage of it, because I agree we
still didn't shoot the ball that well. I mean, what
did we shoot for three from three? We shot from
(45:26):
three twenty percent and we shot from the field thirty
eight percent. So I mean, I think the baskets we
got around were huge for us.
Speaker 16 (45:36):
Yeah, I mean, I think we had some great pull ups.
I think first half that effort was poor, and I
was worried.
Speaker 4 (45:42):
Second half.
Speaker 16 (45:42):
I think that we just moved the ball so much better,
and we passed, We did all transition. Transition was there,
and I think we need to run with the team
more and it I was disappointed. I thought Marino would
have had a bigger game this game, given the size advantage,
and he just seemed like he couldn't get going.
Speaker 1 (45:59):
No, you're right, all right. I appreciate the call. They
shot twenty six of twenty nine from the line. If
they don't shoot ninety percent from the line, then this
game's over. Or to put it in another way, if
we shot ninety percent from the line, because we missed
thirteen free throws, you know, if we shot ninety percent
from the line, just doing the math here, we would
(46:19):
have won by twenty. So so they kind of stayed
in get We took more free throws, but they made
they We took thirty eight, they took twenty nine, but
they still made one more than we did. What are
you gonna say?
Speaker 2 (46:33):
I was gonna say, if you saw Kentucky stats before
the game, I don't know if you would have thought
they would have won this game.
Speaker 1 (46:39):
If you saw Kentucky's stats like how it ended.
Speaker 2 (46:41):
Yeah, like before the game, you're probably right.
Speaker 1 (46:44):
I think that the stat you know, I mentioned offensive rebounds,
but he makes a good point. Probably the stat that
matters the most is they had eighteen turnovers and we
had four.
Speaker 2 (46:53):
That Jalen Lowe effect.
Speaker 1 (46:54):
I mean, only four turnovers in any game is kind
of impressive. Brandon Garrison had two of them, so and
one of them was a team turnover. So Denzel Aberdeen
was the only person besides Garrison on the team with
a solo turnover. That's pretty amazing. That rarely happens. We'll
(47:16):
do five more. Who's next, Matt, Matt, Go ahead, Matt.
Speaker 17 (47:21):
Hey, Matt, prayers to you and your family. First of all,
most importantly in the Holy State is lifting you guys up.
I hope you realize that.
Speaker 1 (47:30):
Thank you very much, and I do. I do feel that,
and I appreciate it.
Speaker 17 (47:35):
Second of all, congratulations to the volleyball team. And third
of all, I just wanted to share something. My son
met Charles Barkley in two Ygland twelve. We're getting on
a cruise ship to go on a cruise in New Orleans,
and he met Charles Barkley and he was a great
guy and thought was great having them do the game of.
Speaker 1 (47:57):
The night I've met him once, but I've seen him
probably four or five times in public settings, and I
have never this is true, I have never seen him
fail to be nice. Actually, both of those guys. If
you were to say to me, Matt, who are the
three or four people you've seen that are celebrities, who
are the unfailing, the not unfailingly the nicest to people
(48:19):
that come up to him? Those are two of the four.
And that's not like I've watched them both over the years.
Just be nice to everyone that comes up. And I
can tell you that's a hard thing to do. And
those guys, and especially somebody like Barkley and Dick by
Tew who are insanely famous. So you're right, they're they're
both really really nice.
Speaker 17 (48:40):
Yeah, he was great to my son. My son ran
across He actually ran across the road as Barkley was
heading to a casino and my son ran across the road,
and uh, he was pretty young at the time, and
he kind of got grabbed by one of the security
guys within tug Buckley. He was like, oh, oh, it's okay,
and he talked to me for a minute and then
(49:00):
what have you made it better? If my son was
at the game to night, so it was pretty awesome
there again.
Speaker 1 (49:05):
Well, thank you again.
Speaker 17 (49:07):
I just want you to know that we're all all
thinking about you all the time.
Speaker 1 (49:13):
Appreciate it. Thank you. Uh As somebody notes, Billy, this
is a good point. If you look at their rebounds,
nine of them occurred on miss Kentucky free throws.
Speaker 2 (49:25):
Oh that's pretty much.
Speaker 1 (49:27):
I mean, that's actually though. That that matters. They out
rebounded is by three, but we got only two rebounds
off their free throws, and they got actually not nine,
they got twelve rebounds off our miss free throws. So
that's ten of the advantage right there. Who's next?
Speaker 2 (49:43):
Carl is next?
Speaker 1 (49:44):
Carl?
Speaker 8 (49:45):
Go ahead, Carl, hey Man, a couple of shout outs,
guys shooting the ball at the halftime. Man that I
think I got the crowd going. You got us go
on in the second half. Deacon is UK volleyball.
Speaker 9 (49:59):
Man.
Speaker 8 (50:00):
Are we gonna be facing two teams in the final
four from the s he's seeming shoot.
Speaker 1 (50:05):
Man, we're ruling that, yeah, and we're probably gonna end
up if we make the finals, we're gonna be of Nebraska.
I mean, Nebraska is gonna be the one I mean
that that's uh that I watched them play today, they're
they're they're pretty tough, so yesterday, I guess they're pretty tough.
Go ahead.
Speaker 8 (50:23):
Well, I mean we're putting on everybody else in volleyball.
But that's all right. Uh, is any end of that good?
No's they're great, great men. Today they're not good. I
mean Louisville put him in the dirt for a little bit. Uh,
watch up, I just got finished watching Arizona Alabama. I
mean Arizona is tough. Number one, we're not We're not
in the league.
Speaker 4 (50:43):
Man.
Speaker 14 (50:44):
Well, we need our point guard moving forward.
Speaker 1 (50:48):
Well, Jalen lose our point guard. I think that's clear.
I mean he is our point guard. Like he's the
only point guard we have. And he's not perfect, but
he's about a thousand times better than our other options. Uh.
To tell Aberdeen.
Speaker 8 (51:03):
The time when.
Speaker 1 (51:04):
They played to night and we played no he played,
I think he played twenty four minutes. He played sixteen
in the second half. So I listen, I want the
minutes when he's out. I am worried because when he's
out and but when he was hurt, we have no
ball movement at all on offense. But when he plays
(51:28):
this team, this team has been This is what I
would say, and I appreciate the call. This team has
been really good in two segments of games against teams
that have any talent or we've played five good teams,
relatively good teams, and we've had two segments of games
where we've played well, and in both segments of those games,
(51:50):
Jalen Lowe has been the driving factor. That is why
I've said since the summer, this team will go as
far as how he plays. He doesn't necessarily have to
be the best player, but he is the We will
go the way he goes. And that's why I think
he's so important. And we have to keep him from
(52:11):
getting hurt. When he dove Billy into the thing, yeah,
I was like, no, no, okay. I like the effort,
but no, okay, because if he gets hurted, it's oh,
I mean, we can't. We have to have him. Everybody
else like Deavonte is great to have and like, but
we can't. We have to have him. We don't have
a point guard otherwise, and by the way, you'll see
Saint John's that's their problem. They don't really have a
(52:32):
point guard either. Three more. Who's next? Ja Jay, go ahead, Jay?
Speaker 5 (52:39):
Hey, Matt, just want to echo what everyone's saying. Prayers
for you, what you're all going through. It's your family,
always tough.
Speaker 1 (52:48):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (52:49):
Just wanted to quick hitters here. As you get to
the end of basketball, volleyball, and the American I think
on basketball, I think will be okay. As long as
we get healthy and stay healthy, Yeah, I think we'll
be all right.
Speaker 1 (53:04):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (53:05):
And as far as Kentucky Indiana, go U Joe Bee's
greatest win was beating them in the seventy five Mid
East Regional Final and Dayton it even surpassed the national championship.
Speaker 1 (53:18):
Well, I mean they said that Barkley, Barkley and Vital
talked about that game, and it is kind of amazing.
Bandy or Indiana lost one game in two years and
it was that game.
Speaker 5 (53:30):
That's true. We kept them from back to back undefeated
national championships. That's when the lords work.
Speaker 1 (53:38):
And a lot of people think the seventy five team
was better than the one that went undefeated in seventy six.
Speaker 5 (53:43):
So okay, by that time of the year they were
won't get into all the john Wood and crap and
how that worked out but anyway, volleyball. I went to
the match today. I'm sixty four years old. That was
one of the greatest in person UK events ever. Went
to It's on top of the wind, stood in line
(54:03):
to get in before the match with Todd Spilboda and
he was just as awesome as I figured he would be.
Speaker 1 (54:10):
So that's cool. Good nice guy and American.
Speaker 5 (54:15):
The fried chicken there is the bomb. It's it's really good.
But all right, if you go get the pork crusted
that the concrusted pork tenderloin, it's indescribedly good.
Speaker 4 (54:30):
It's it's so good. So that's it.
Speaker 1 (54:33):
Well, I appreciate it, thank you, sir, and I and
I American could not pay for this kind of publicity,
right yeah, I mean the websites down like they couldn't
pay for this kund of publicity. By the way, cool
that UK had shuttles that went from the volleyball game
to RUP that's a I didn't know they were going
to do that, but that's a that's a cool thing
(54:53):
they did.
Speaker 2 (54:54):
Two more, who's next, Tyler Tyler?
Speaker 1 (54:56):
Go ahead, Tyler.
Speaker 4 (54:59):
Matt Uh.
Speaker 14 (55:00):
If I live in Indiana, I hate you. So I'm
really glad that we got that one. I don't have
to hear it from any fans.
Speaker 1 (55:07):
Well, they've got one the Heisman tonight, so they can
you know, they can take a loss to us.
Speaker 4 (55:13):
That's right, I got.
Speaker 14 (55:15):
I have young kids that play sports, and the things
that I always tell them are like, I don't need
you to be an all Star, but I need all
star effort. Okay, And I feel like we saw that tonight.
You know, nobody stood out necessarily is like dropping twenty
five on Indiana, but the fighting for rebounds, the all
star effort.
Speaker 1 (55:33):
I love that. I totally agree with you. And they
gave it the whole game, even when they played port.
Speaker 12 (55:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 14 (55:41):
And lastly, I I would like to think we'll will
forgive us an exciting football coach. And they've also given
me my wife, who is a U of L dancer,
who gave it my kids, and they're all Kentucky fans.
Speaker 1 (55:54):
So thanks, well, good well, uh I, congrats to you
your wife. I appreciate the call. By the way, we
should know since you mentioned uh will Stein he hired
three coaches today. Added to his staff Cutter Leftwich, which
means we have another coach named Cutter or another person
(56:17):
on the team named Cutter. What are the chances there
would be two Cutters on a roster when you count
player and coach. Probably probably not Cutter Leftwich. Who was
the Oregon offensive line coach, Houston safety's coach Josh Christian Young,
and I can't remember the other guy's name, but that
(56:37):
he hired three coaches today. I think maybe the wide
receiver coach from UTSA, which is where he was where
he was before Oregon. One more, Who's next? Brian, Brian,
go ahead, Brian.
Speaker 4 (56:51):
Hey Man. Energy to not was great at the game.
I just think that the crab was awesome. And I'm
the last call, so I want you to do something.
You've got to send something back to Damn Dockage. That's
all I got.
Speaker 1 (57:07):
Did he say? What did he say? Did he say something?
Speaker 4 (57:13):
Oh no, just from a couple of weeks ago.
Speaker 1 (57:15):
Oh well, let me say this about Dan Dockicche. I'm
not uh over the years, having on many different occasions
not a huge Dan Dockage fan on a lot of levels,
but I will say this about Dan Dockache. When I
put out the thing about my dad, he sent me
(57:35):
a nice note Twitter, or excuse me, a nice text,
which you know he didn't have to do so some
there are things more important sometimes in sports, and I
think it's good to know that, you know, even a
guy like even even after all the stuff over the
years with him, he was nice enough to do that.
So but I appreciate you calling sir and uh and
(57:58):
I'm gave me a chance to say that because I
meant to say that on the air the other day.
Thank you all very much for listening. I will be
up again in the morning doing ESPN with Myron and everybody.
Have a safe ride for the rest of you. Going
home Cats with a huge win as they renew the
rivalry against Indiana and get a big victory play again
(58:20):
on Saturday against Saint John's. This has been the local
toylet Dealers KSR postgame show
