Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, well, well, good evening ladies, gentlemen, boys and girls,
grandpas and grandma's aunts and uncles. I almost swallowed my
gum there. I think. Welcome to the local Total deers
KSR postgame show. I mean, it's been a rough couple
of days in Big Blue Nation, right, I mean, after
the North Carolina loss a week ago tonight and then
(00:21):
the Gonzaga loss on Friday, it's been a rough couple
of days. But mission accomplished tonight. Kentucky needed to feel
good win. They needed to win by a lot, They
needed to score a lot of points. They got it
done one three sixty sel othough they didn't cover Billy
only thirty six points. They didn't cover.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
That was a hell of a spread, though, twenty.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
Five and it was forty five. Uh, Kentucky Wildcats. You know,
I think a lot of fans just wanted them to
play with some effort. They did. They wanted to play
with some heart they did. They wanted to play with
some passion they did. They wanted to shoot the ball,
well they did. They want to hit some threes did?
I mean, you can check a lot of boxes off
(01:02):
from the game tonight, but it really doesn't matter if
they don't play well on Saturday. I mean, Saturday is
the one. Like we even had this question on the
pregame show. What could they even do tonight to get
the fan base back on board to change their attitude
about what they've seen the last couple of weeks. And really,
I think it's it comes down to Saturday. They cannot
(01:22):
let Indiana come in here on Saturday a r reprina and
beat him and bully him around like they've done the
North Carolina and Michigan State and gonzag especially just kind
of bully him around. They can't do that. They need
to show some toughness. So even though they got a
big win tonight, I think a lot of fans will
find out here when they opened up the phone lines
eight five to nine two two two eighty seven, I
think a lot of fans are still, well, it's just
(01:43):
North Carolina Central. You know, when you're gonna do it
against one of the big boys, when you're gonna do
it against the Indiana Hoosiers.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
And you know better than anybody being from Indiana, right,
you can't lose to the.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
Hoosiers, cannot I Mean, when I was growing up, this
was the game. The marquee game every year was Kentucky Indiana.
You know you go way back where Bob Knight kind
of smacked Joby Hall in the back of the head.
And the game in seventy five when Indiana was undefeated
and Kentucky beat them, you know the if you go
(02:15):
way back. But then when I got in the media,
Billy I started covering the Kentucky Indiana game when they
had it at the Hoosier Dome. Oh, it was awesome.
Half red, half blue. Calbert Cheney, Damon Bailey for Indiana,
Jamal Mashburn, Travis Ford for UK. It was awesome. Those
games were incredible. I wanted to get back that. But
(02:35):
you know, Indiana, it's not been here, heard crys Labar
say since twenty ten, long drought, not having the pajama
wearing Hoosiers here. By the way, I got my pajamas on.
Did you know what I do?
Speaker 2 (02:44):
You have your pajama pants on. But I appreciate you
coming in again.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
Ryan caught out of the bullpen. He had to make
some you know, some changes.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
Again.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
We're still juggling some chairs, playing musical chairs with and everything.
So but look, you know, not a lot of folks
were there tonight. If you saw the pictures, ropering was
not crowded. Think it's just again the apathy that's growing
over this team and what they've seen the last couple
of weeks with these big time games. This was not
a big time game, but yet they played pretty well.
(03:10):
You heard Pope say after the game, they didn't play
great defensively, but they did a lot of things offensively.
He was happy with. I mean, go ahead, you want
to say something.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
Oh, just that Pope was pissed at halftime, his halftime interview.
It was just all about the defensive breakdowns that they had.
But Ryan, you got to think they sent some messages tonight.
Speaker 4 (03:29):
Right.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
The whole thing with Brandon Garrison has to be encouraging,
don't you think.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
Let's get to that. That's the one to be the
one main talking point I think everybody's probably won't want
to talk about. Brandon Garrison turned the ball over and
while the ball was going to the other end of
the floor for an easy layup, he's loafing jogging down
the floor after he's won it, made a bad decision,
turned it over in the lane and then he loafs
down the floor. Mark Pope. To his credit, he's been
(03:55):
getting a lot of slack lately, called a time out
and got into Brandon Garrison. Matter of fact, I had
people say he used that whole time out do nothing
but chew on Brandon Garrison. I think that was sending
a direct message. And how many minutes to Brandon Garrison
play after that, Billy? I think zero zero, zero minutes
after that? Send a message we're not gonna accept that's unacceptable.
(04:18):
That stuff we saw against Kenzagger loafing down the floor
from all some of those guys not gonna happen anymore.
Are you're not going to play now? There was also
something kind of interesting. Cam Williams didn't come in till
twelve minutes left in the game, after it was like
a thirty five point game. He did not play it
all the first half, didn't play much in the second half.
(04:39):
Nobody says said anything, but I think that was a
message sent. Also because if you remember being the second
half of the Gonzaga game, Cam Williams is one of
those guys that didn't play. He got in the doghouse
probably for effort, lack of effort, and he didn't play.
So Trent Noah gets his start back in the starting lineup,
what's he do? Boom three pointer. A couple minutes later,
(05:00):
boom another three pointer. He had three threes in the
first half. That's the Trent Nole we thought we were
gonna have all season. Maybe welcome back Trent Nole. Maybe
he's finally over the injury. Maybe he's guys confidence back.
And Billy I thought he was one of the highlights
of the game. Yeah, Pope said afterwards. Trent isn't a
perfect player, but he gives everything he has. And I
kind of feel like that's what Pope is prioritizing right now,
(05:21):
maybe the guys that give effort compared to maybe just
being more talented than somebody else. And he made a point.
The first person he complimented tonight was Colin Chandler, and
why because he had eight assists. He also had seven
points and five rebounds, but he had eight assists. I
think this last couple of days, they've spent nothing but
(05:43):
teammate teamwork. Do it for your teammate, Look for your teammate.
He help your brother, And I think Colin Chandler took
that to heart and Pope they made a point as
soon as he came out to night to talk about that.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
Well after the game, several players made it a point
to say that there weren't any off the floor issues,
Trent Noah, Jasper Johnson, and Otega Away addressing that directly,
So that message is probably coming across loud and clearer
right now. Pope also had another concerning quote, Ryan, tell
me what you think about this? He said, we don't
know how to compete yet, which is terrifying.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
Yeah, here we are. We're what, we're ten games into
the season and he's saying they don't know how to
compete yet. That's a little alarm bells a little bit
right there, I think. But what about our three Kentucky
guys tonight? We already mentioned about Trent Noah eleven point
six rebounds, Malchimarino fourteen points, seven rebounds, and how about
Jasper Yeah, twenty two points and only nineteen minutes perfect
(06:42):
from the foul line. Hitty's three point shot did the job?
Run the point he I think earned some confidence points
from Coach Pope, running the point that allows Denzel Aberdeen
to move over to the two where he's more comfortable. Anyway,
I think I think they would like for Jasper to
be the number two point guard. I just I just
think they that would be a better compliment to everybody
(07:04):
else if they can make him the point guard.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
Guy.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
But he had an awesome game that I was so
and he was you know, very uh what I'm looking
for in the postgame in of you with Jack, he
was very mature and the stuff he was saying I
thought with Jack and I thought, obviously his career high,
but I think it's just a glimpse of what that
kid can become.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
Yeah, I got to see him do it against better
competition before I feel more comfortable with him. But Goose
hit on this a lot in the radio broadcast, talking
about creating habits. You know, this is a game to
build some momentum and just see the ball go through
the basket. But if you do it during the games
versus North Carolina Central, then it won't be you just
trying to start something new in a game that actually
does matter. So this was an important game, But takeaways
(07:48):
from it by based on Guy's performance besides Zach Tawe,
you know, I'm not really sure.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
Zach tw Drew called it again on the pregame show
last week. He called the walker Horn bucket the walker
Horn three. Today on the pregame show, he called the
zach Tal three Zach Tal Madisonville. Drew is your hero, well,
your Drew's hero. Great call by Drew, though, don't you think.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
Oh yeah, yeah, he's You probably would have won a
little money on DraftKings if you would have made that
bet tonight, if that was ever listed. But you know,
the takeaway tonight will probably be the Brandon Garrison stuff.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
Don't you think that's gonna be the big talking point
because I think one it's gonna send the message to
everybody else. We all saw it. The TV cameras picked
it up. As soon as they called that time out.
Pope went and got into him, got into his face,
really with him, sit down, and then he spent the
whole TV timeout chewing on him. Needed to be done
because what we saw against Gonzaga was unacceptable, no heart
(08:49):
and gutless performance. He wasn't the only one against Gonzaga,
but he's the only one who did it tonight, and
he said he's butt on the bench. And I guess
we need to say a big welcome back to Taga away,
Welcome back Otego, Where are you been. We missed you.
I mean the dudes driving into the basket, hitting threes,
playing great defense, had seven rebounds. That's why he was
(09:11):
preseason Conference of the Year. Now, yeah, it was just
North Carolina Central, but it was good to see glimpses
of the old oh Way again coming back, didn't you
think so?
Speaker 2 (09:19):
Yeah? Yeah, absolutely right. That guy has to be playing
like that against all the teams. Yeah, Kentucky to have
a chance this year.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
So now's your turn. Eight five nine two eight oh
two two eight seven eight five nine twitokats, call and
talk to Billy. He's here with me tonight as Kentucky
wins by thirty six points one to three sixty seven.
Next up those good for nothing stinking canverse convace tobacco
chewing Indiana Hoosiers. They're killing Penn State tonight. Threw up
by thirty, Are they so they're going to be like
(09:47):
eight and two coming into the game. Yeah, they were
up by thirty last time. I had to check on
it get a score Updatefore we go to the break.
What is it? I don't know there it is right
there here, it is No, that's Ohio IU, Ohio State.
You went past the Penn State game.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
Oh, I thought we were talking about IU.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
Yeah, they're playing Penn State right there.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
Until we got two IU games on right now.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
Eighty one to thirty something. Is that what that said?
Speaker 2 (10:12):
They kind of went to a replay right as we
went to it.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
So Indiano'll come in and ride in a big win
just like Kentucky Figger in Lamar Wilson eighty one to
thirty four, almost fifty points. All right, well take our break,
come back eight five, nine, two, Hito two to eighty seven.
Ryan and Billy on the Local Total Leader's KSR postgame show,
Welcome Back Local Total Deaders KSR postgame Show. Ryan and
Billy here tonight. Matt still dealing with his family issues
(10:35):
with his father, so keep him, keep airing your prayers.
I do want to also say that there was an
awful incident on the campus of Kentucky State University this
afternoon where there was a shooting. One person was killed.
One is last I saw, was in critical condition. They
do have the suspecting custody from the shootings, but the
campus was on lockdown for quite a while. Kind of
(10:58):
hitting close to home when he hits Kentucky State just
right on the road in Frankfort, So keep those victims
in your prayers as well. Eight five nine two eight
zero two two eight seven. Who we got Bill? He
was our first call.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
Let's lead off with Chris.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
Chris, go ahead, Chris.
Speaker 5 (11:11):
Hey, Ryan, I kind of feel like Frank Pope showed
up the coach tonight, and I'm all for it.
Speaker 1 (11:17):
You know, I don't mind calling him Frank Pope. He
did kind of show a little temper. He got a
little fire in his belly, and I think that's what
this team need, don't you.
Speaker 6 (11:25):
Yeah, we need a lot of that moving forward.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
Well, I appreciate it, Chris. Yeah, it was kind of
good to see a little spark from Pope. If nothing else,
just how he handled that situation with Brandon Garrison and
then the halftime interview. You could tell here they were
up by twenty points and he was not a happy camper.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
Well, it was kind of a close game for the
first ten minutes or so it was, and they turned
it on. So yeah, absolutely, how your coach should be
handling a game versus UNC Central, right, And you know he.
Speaker 1 (11:53):
Was so upset with the defense. But yet one of
the things he bragged on about to take it away.
Was not his twenty one points, not his seven rebounds,
but his defense on the their their star player. He
held him to like one of ten shooting I thinks
in the first half, and he credited Otega for doing that.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
Yeah, big knight for Otao to get on the right
track again.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
Hopefully, who's next, Skyler, Skyler, go ahead, Skyler.
Speaker 7 (12:18):
Hey, Ryan, Billy, great job on the postgame show with Gonzaga. Yeah,
Billy did.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
A good job.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
Thank you. I appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (12:28):
Yeah, you did, you did.
Speaker 7 (12:30):
I didn't watch the game, but I'm listening to you
guys talk about the game. I'll watch the postgame interview,
heard about some of the clips that happened. And my
gut feeling is, of course, Mark Pope shows passion when
we're playing in C Central. Of Course he choose out
Brandon Garrison, the guy that everybody in our fan base
has been picking on this whole season. Of Course, it again,
(12:53):
to me, feels performative, and I don't know if that's
true or not. I feel like he's trying, he's grasping
for straws, and he's playing to the fan base a
little bit. I'm not calling him an authentic I just
think he is lost and need some help finding his way.
I'll hang up and listen, all.
Speaker 1 (13:11):
Right, skyta appreciate it. I'm gonna disagree with Skyer Skuyler.
I think that was genuine tonight. I think they just
decided after that Gonzaga bullied him around and beat him
down so bad with such a gutless performance, Pope and
the rest of the coaches got together and decided, Look,
we are going to play with effort. We are gonna
play with energy, and if you don't, you ain't gonna play.
(13:31):
I really think it rubbed off on the guys that
the coaches have now taken that attitude, and the thing
is now they have to stay with it. If they
see Otega loafing down the floor against Indian like he
did it against Gonzaga, gotta get him out. You know,
you gotta be consistent with it now, don't you agree?
Speaker 3 (13:47):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (13:47):
I guess Hope has gone through the five stages of grief,
just like we all have, whether it be denial and
then now anger. I guess that we're seeing now. Yeah,
So I guess we'll see what what are the other ones?
I don't even know?
Speaker 1 (14:02):
Acceptance? What are the five stages of grief.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
Bargaining, depression, acceptance. Those are the other three denial, anger, bargaining, depression,
and acceptance.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
So he's in the anger phase right now.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
Well, remember he was as shocked as we were in
these press conferences, not saying a word. Yeah, now he's angry.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
Now he's angry. But he came out and talked to
Tom Leach and the crowd, so he was probably acceptance.
I think at that point.
Speaker 2 (14:27):
Well, you probably just fed up, right like you, you
only can do it so often until you're you gotta
man up. That was your advice, right, Remember in the
locker room after the good sacking game.
Speaker 1 (14:36):
Man up, man up, and nobody is going to really
can change their mind. I don't think completely about this
team until they go out and beat Indian on Saturday,
and then that you know how they do against Rick
Patino and Saint John's the following Saturday. They can't get
bullied around and thumped by those two teams. They've got
to come out and win those games, not just for
the fan base, but to keep that locker room engage
as well.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
Who's next, Uh, let's go to Aaron.
Speaker 8 (15:01):
Aaron, Go ahead, Aaron, Hey, guys, prayers to Matt's dad
and thank you for Kentucky State today.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
Yeah, thank you.
Speaker 8 (15:11):
So, I mean we we hear about motivated Mark Stewkes.
I think we need a motivated Mark Pope. I mean
he's down on himself, like like fans when we lose.
But like that's not what we need. We need a
motivated Uh.
Speaker 9 (15:27):
We got a.
Speaker 8 (15:29):
Prime example. We got to keep Jasper Johnson in the game.
It seems like if we leave him in the game,
he gets hot. But lately before today, he wasn't really
getting minutes and he really didn't get that many minutes.
Speaker 4 (15:38):
Might either.
Speaker 8 (15:39):
We got to get him in the game, all right.
Speaker 1 (15:41):
Aaron, appreciate it. You know, I've been I've been on
the Jasper Johnson vandwagon from day one. I've known John
Jasper since he was a little kid. He's super talented,
He's a I think he's a superstar to making. But
I was getting some pushback for some people, like, man,
you gotta quit praising Jasper Johnson. He was going through
some learning mistakes and learning that you had a learning
(16:02):
curve about college basketball and stepping up and maybe shooting
the right taking the shot at the right time. You know,
he can get in the lane. He can the thing
about him as a point guard, he can get in
the lane and distribute the basketball, but sometimes he gets
down there in no man's land, and then that's to
force up a bad shot. I think, like Jack even
said that tonight on the postgame show, Jack Games did said, man,
you're just you're growing and you're learning each time out.
(16:24):
And I think we saw a big step up today
in the fact of him not just as a scorer,
but as a point guard. Tonight That's what I was
most impressed with.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
And Cal was just worried about getting those freshmen to
play well at the end of this season, right, and
so this is going to be a learning curve for him,
a learning process. Last year it was a ton of
seniors on the roster with Pope. It's very different this year.
Speaker 1 (16:44):
Who's next, Billy, Let's go to Connor, Connor, go ahead,
Connor hey Hey also.
Speaker 10 (16:51):
Prayers and Matt's dad, and then the Kentucky State situation also.
Speaker 5 (16:56):
With Pope. I don't believe.
Speaker 10 (16:58):
It was performative because if anybody paid attention, Brandon Garrison
had turned the ball over and then didn't get back
to try to contest the shot and then Pope immediately
called the time out and got into him. So I
think that was authentic. But I think that he has
to do that a lot more. I mean, even last
(17:19):
year he had everybody saying that, you know, he needed
to get a little bit more angry and all that
good stuff. I don't don't necessarily, you know, stay angry,
but just to get into him more often.
Speaker 5 (17:30):
But uh, hopefully.
Speaker 10 (17:33):
We'll show up against Indiana, because if it don't go
good against Indiana, it's gonna be a lot worse than
it is.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
Yep, appreciate it. Connor, Yeah, I agree with there. Then
Connor said, you know, we talked about the Brandon Garrison incident.
Pope immediately calls the timeout, immediately gets in into him,
spends the whole time out getting into him. That not
just through sends a message to Brandon Garrison, that sends
a message to everybody else in that huddle. Look, we're
not gonna play like that anymore. You guys embarrassed me,
you embarrass yourselves, you embarrassed our fans against Coknzaka. That
(18:00):
is not going to happen anymore.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
Well, that needed to happen four games ago. It should have,
so I'm glad it is it should happening. Maybe you
had to hit they had to hit rock bottom be
for to finally reach that point. But then you know,
Pope ended his press conference with Tom Lee tonight like, look,
we are a really good basketball team. You're gonna be really,
really proud of this team. We are going to get
it right, and you're gonna be very proud of what
we're going to accomplish this year.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
And he he believes that. I don't know if our
fans believe that yet, but Pope definitely believes that. Who's next.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
We'll take one more and take a break. Let's go
to Kyle. Kyle, go ahead, Kyle.
Speaker 11 (18:34):
Hey, Ryan just wanted to say, first of all, Matt,
we're thinking about your buddy. We in the state of Kentucky.
We're all one big family.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
Yep.
Speaker 11 (18:43):
We all we all have your back, brother and and
everything at the school today, Kentucky stands together in Kentucky strong.
Speaker 1 (18:50):
Yep.
Speaker 8 (18:51):
Brian, this is this is you.
Speaker 11 (18:52):
This is you and I talking right. Does nobody else listening?
Speaker 1 (18:54):
No, just you and me. You can say whatever you want,
it won't we'll get out.
Speaker 11 (18:57):
Let me let me tell you one thing out being
a Kentucky fan. That drives me off the wall is
that whenever we lost those games, and don't get me wrong,
it's been it's been horrible. But we get down on
Mark Pope and we say, oh, he's he doesn't have answers,
he doesn't know what he's doing, and we ask him
to bring more energy and bring more fight and bring
(19:18):
something else to this team that we haven't seen. And
then tonight he benches Brandon Garrison and he goes out
and he has this passion that we've been asking for.
And then the first two callers are calling saying it's performative.
I don't believe in it. None of us have ever
been in that arena. And Mark Pope is he knows
what the pressure is at Kentucky, and I trust my coach,
(19:41):
and so I'm I mean, I get it. I know
we gotta be Indiana. I know it's been terrible, but
I mean, come on, guys, last year we were praising
him for taking us to the Sweet sixteen with a
group of nobodies. Let's give the guy a chance to
do his job and to do it well, because nobody
cares as much as Pope does about the Kentucky basketball
(20:02):
team being great, and that's what frustrates me about this
fan base. Let's get together and let's get behind our
guy and let's do this thing.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
Dude, there you go, Kyle. Great phone call, outstanding phone call.
Appreciate it. You know you're right. I think Cameron Millsai
in the pregame show Mark Pope did not forget how
to coach after doing what he did last year with
that ragtag group of guys he threw together last year,
He did not forget how to coach went into this season.
I think they had some chemistry issues on the court.
(20:33):
I think they had some roster things they had to
figure out. But I think maybe you're maybe we're finally
starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Speaker 2 (20:40):
Well, he's starting to say the right things. Yes, you've
got to show us right. You got to do it
against the better teams.
Speaker 1 (20:45):
You got to do it against Indiana Saturday. You can't
get punked by Indiana on Saturday, or it can. It's
gonna go south really fast.
Speaker 2 (20:51):
Yeah, but it feels like the players were definitely more
engaged tonight, and I agree, Well, you know, we'll see
if that can carry over got.
Speaker 1 (20:58):
A couple open lines now if you want to get
on board eight five nine two Oho two two eight
seven at eight five nine Toito Cats call the local
thrit leaders ks our postgame show, right and Billy, we're
right back after this, all right. Kentucky Wildcats get win
number one this week one O three sixty seven over
North Carolina Central and the UK volleyball team hoping to
get win number two on Thursday, where they play at
(21:20):
three thirty at Historic Memorial Coliseum against cal Poly.
Speaker 7 (21:24):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
The game will be televised. That's a tough time to
you know. Usually with the crowd has been great packing
Historic and Momorial cosseum as the volleyball events. That's a
tough time. Three thirty in the afternoon, in the middle
of the day on a Thursday. So if you can't
make it, it is gonna be televised.
Speaker 7 (21:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
Did you see what Craig Skinner did?
Speaker 1 (21:39):
What did he do this time?
Speaker 4 (21:40):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (21:40):
You haven't seen?
Speaker 1 (21:41):
This is on the airplane.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
Yeah, went in the jet.
Speaker 1 (21:44):
Every time he does something, he's a little bit higher,
a little bit higher, a little bit higher. He was
on top of the bank building here on downtown here
the other day he's been on top of a desk.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
Yeah, he went on top of the table at the
press conference the other day.
Speaker 1 (21:55):
So now he's up in an airplane.
Speaker 2 (21:58):
So what happens if they keep winning?
Speaker 1 (22:01):
Rocket ship?
Speaker 2 (22:03):
We gotta put them in space shuttle. Yeah, it's all
workan uh. You said you wanted me to play clip,
I got it up here for you.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
Okay, this is a This is what was said after
the game in the locker room. Some of the players
were specifically asked about locker room issues, chemistry issues, off
the court issues. You got Otega? Yeah, okay, So this
is Otega's answer to the question about off the court
issues with this team.
Speaker 2 (22:30):
The court and we're figuring that part out. He said,
the off the court stuff, it's he said, that's nonsense.
Speaker 12 (22:33):
It ain't no off the court stuff. That's this list
all on the court, Like, oh, obviously if you were
gonna expectator speculate, but it's it's all on the court,
like we're the closest group, like we all hang out,
we're all good.
Speaker 1 (22:46):
Like it ain't nothing off the.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
Court we're talking about that.
Speaker 1 (22:49):
That was a Dylan Ballard who was asking that question.
And you know, all the u the rumors about locker
room issues, off the court issues seem to involve Otega
in some way, shape or form. He's shooting it down, Billy.
You just heard that for the first time. What do
you think.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
What you expect a player to say?
Speaker 1 (23:12):
Wheah?
Speaker 2 (23:12):
He asked, if there are issues.
Speaker 1 (23:14):
What's he gonna say in front of all the reporters. Yeah,
we had a big fight the other day in the
locker room. Yeah, exactly, got a West, got some boxing
gloves on, and we just fought for three hours.
Speaker 2 (23:24):
All our issues are on the court, not off the court,
which is which is true?
Speaker 1 (23:29):
So do you believe him though?
Speaker 2 (23:31):
I mean, is there petty squabbles? Probably it was there
a fight in the locker room. I don't know, But
I mean, there was something that happened before the Louisville game.
We may never find out what that was.
Speaker 1 (23:43):
I'm convinced something happened before the Louivill game, or Mark
Pope would not have brought it up. Why would you
bring it up if nothing happened. Why would you say
we had an incident for the game if nothing happened.
Of course something happened. You're right, it may be the
end of the season before we find out what it
was Team Turmoil to fight on their plane. We never
knew what it really was about to tell. Maybe a
year or two later find out the details of the
(24:03):
fight on the airplane. So that's on the Dylan valichwe
Jeff Scrumming, I think, has had some other soundbites on
his Twitter feed about the other players, ask about off
the court chemistry issues or fights in the locker room whatever.
Speaker 2 (24:18):
Well, I'm sure they've heard the noise. So oh yeah,
you're ready to answer these questions tonight?
Speaker 1 (24:22):
All right? Eight five nine two o two two eighty seven.
Who we got next? Billy Darlene, Darlene, go ahead, Darlene, Hey, guys, this.
Speaker 13 (24:31):
Is all about Mark Ppe. I just want him to
know that God, I'll support this man with everything in me.
The booze the other night, it hurt my soul deep
and all I want to say is Mark Pope. I
know who he helped us win a championship. I'm behind
this guy one hundred percent.
Speaker 14 (24:50):
I love you, guys, thank you for your support.
Speaker 1 (24:52):
Hold on, Darlene, Darlene, don't you want to give a
shout out to your Harlan guy tonight?
Speaker 4 (24:57):
Oh my god, you are so right.
Speaker 13 (25:00):
I mean, yeah, I'm so proud of Tritt Noah. Eleven
points tonight, I think maybe six rebounds right, rebounds, But
oh my god, you got that right.
Speaker 14 (25:10):
Thank you for lating me say that.
Speaker 1 (25:12):
There you go. Trent Noah fan club at Harlan, Kentucky
had no doubt about it. Trent played well man earned
the right to get back in the starting lineup. He
got a lot of rebounds. I think all of eleven
of you points. I think we're on the first half.
I'm not mistaken.
Speaker 2 (25:26):
Well, he hit the first three, I believe, and then
had an offensive rebound. And then Oway hit a three
very early in the game, so he was playing well.
You know, Mark Pope, it wasn't a tweak. It was
a shift.
Speaker 1 (25:37):
He called it.
Speaker 10 (25:37):
He did.
Speaker 1 (25:38):
He called it a shift. So cal Perry had the tweak.
Mark has the shift.
Speaker 7 (25:42):
You know.
Speaker 1 (25:42):
Yellowitch also hit a three tonight. Guess who didn't hit
a three?
Speaker 15 (25:46):
Who?
Speaker 1 (25:46):
Cam Williams. I don't know what's going on with that guy.
Like I said, he didn't play to late in the
game when the game was already over, but he still
had some wide open looks never misses in practice. Couldn't
buy one again to night. Who's next? Color?
Speaker 2 (26:00):
Ryan?
Speaker 1 (26:01):
Ryan? Go ahead? Ryan?
Speaker 5 (26:04):
Hey, Ryan, and Billy. After the first two callers, I
had to call in. I hardly ever call him on
the postgame show, but we said about six rollers up
behind the bench and during the time out when Pope
called it. After the Brandon Garrison was loafing up the
floor when he got When Pope got in the huddle,
he snapped his whiteboard over his knee and a piece
(26:27):
flew up and hit Colin Chandler square in the forehead.
Speaker 1 (26:30):
Wow, what I want to see?
Speaker 7 (26:33):
That?
Speaker 5 (26:34):
Yeah, I've never seen and I loved it. I absolutely
loved it.
Speaker 1 (26:39):
Appreciate it, Ryan, thanks for the phone call.
Speaker 15 (26:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (26:41):
The guy that called in Arty was at Skuyler who
said that he thought it was all in act, like
you're seeing a performance. I don't buy that. I think
that's that's legit. I think Mark Pope was disgusted by
what he saw Friday night against nash in Nashville against Gonzaga,
and he's not gonna let that happen again.
Speaker 2 (27:00):
I saw a coach here in Lexington act for quite
a number of years.
Speaker 9 (27:04):
Ryan.
Speaker 2 (27:04):
I feel like everything Mark Pope does is genuine and
that's even why we've seen him really be low after
some of these losses, right, So, I think he's got
a tough time acting when he needs to act a
little bit more.
Speaker 1 (27:15):
After that first loss against Louisville, he could hardly talk
to Tom Leach on the postgame news Collers couldn't he
even hardly talk to him. He's gotten a little better
at that, but he still takes it hard because I
think he loves this school and this team so much.
He wants him to succeed, and he's trying to get
his players to understand that as well. Yeap, Who's next?
So you got next?
Speaker 2 (27:33):
Billy, John?
Speaker 1 (27:34):
John? Go ahead, John?
Speaker 14 (27:37):
A first off, prayers to Batt and his family in
Kentucky State. Just that's the first thing, right, right, John.
I had a two questions here, guys. One is just
do you guys expect to see Diabate against Indiana? That's
my first question.
Speaker 8 (27:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (27:58):
Well, the Big Blue United group that saw practice yesterday
said that Diabati kind of told them that he is
expecting to be back. He was expecting to be back
on Saturday, whether the doctor's clearing or Pope's gonna Playhi.
But at Diabate told the crowd there that he was
expected back for Saturday against Indiana.
Speaker 14 (28:20):
Okay, so that hopefully if he does play the looting place,
you know, maybe he can play his minutes and then
Williams two. The other question I did have or not Williams.
Speaker 10 (28:30):
Sorry, guy's low jaylen Lowe.
Speaker 14 (28:32):
But the other question I did have was, and I
know this guy, he's all, he's young, he's a four
star guy, and they haven't played him that to my acknowledge.
And I know they were trying to sit him in
red shirt him or whatever, but Braden Hofthorne not. I
don't get why we're searching. We're unless you guys say,
you know, some of us said, we're you know, grasping
for straw, searching for something and answer, and you've got guys.
(28:54):
I'm not going to try to pick on like Cam
Williams or something like that. But you just mentioned him,
you know, in thirteen minutes, and he played late. He
has been hitting a lot, So why can't we get
Raydon Hawthorne out there. The dude has got talent, he
can play ball when I know he's young, but why.
Speaker 10 (29:08):
Not give him a shot?
Speaker 1 (29:10):
Well appreciate it, John, but yeah, I think the plan
is definitely to red shirt him and kind of him
be included in next year's recruiting class. Like you've almost
got a head start on next year's recruiting class when
you add him to the mix. I think that's that's
the plan. They just want him to get bigger, stronger.
You've seen the video of him. I mean he's rail fan.
He's very little, got little bitty calves and ankles. They
(29:33):
want to get it bigger, stronger, faster, And I think
I think the I think John right though. I think
he could be a good player someday here.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
Yeah, hopefully. I just I'm not sure how many kids
are going to stay at a university for five years,
including their red shirt anymore.
Speaker 1 (29:46):
Right, that's true. Yeah, with the nil money to dad,
that deal, they probably people call come after him a
little bit. But you know when he signed, now, I
remember his dad did some interview, said he's wanted to
be Kentucky wild Catty's whole life. He grew up a
big Kentucky fan and this is he wants to be.
So hopefully he'll uh, he'll develop him to be a
great player.
Speaker 2 (30:04):
And there's a learning curve out of high school, right,
We're seeing that with Jasper Johnson a little bit, so
I imagine he's going through some of that too.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
You know, Jasper and Malachi both had to kind of
learn the college game. Now Malachi kind of picked it
up a little quicker than Jasper did. But Jasper's just
got man. He's just he's just a score man. He
can just get the ball in the basket for you.
And that's if he can just you know, get the
decision making down as being a back up point guard,
he's gonna get some minutes. They're going to a plane.
Who we got next syndicate speaking of Jasper Johnson. This
(30:32):
is syndicate syndicate done. Jasper Johnson's biggest fan.
Speaker 9 (30:37):
What's going on? Man? Hey? Ryan? First offell, you are
doing an awesome chimee of like, I just wanna tell
you that.
Speaker 1 (30:41):
First of all, well, how much are you?
Speaker 7 (30:44):
Uh?
Speaker 9 (30:44):
You know, I'm gonna give you some brisket. I'm gonna
bring you some of you keep saying.
Speaker 1 (30:49):
You're gonna give me some brisket, and I have yet
to have some of your famous brisket.
Speaker 9 (30:53):
I brought some over a few weeks ago. I know
y'all saw me come in and I brought some to Crutcher.
Speaker 1 (30:58):
Oh I got we didn't get any. Crutch took it off.
We didn't crutch Yeah, you know, but.
Speaker 9 (31:04):
I'm Sharon's and Hair cooking up the mac and cheese.
Speaker 16 (31:07):
Uh.
Speaker 9 (31:07):
What I was wanting to tell you guys about tonight
is that sometimes things go on in the locker room,
you know what I'm saying. And I played at Harrisburg,
so we had to take it to the back and
sometimes the coach just was like, you guys, gotta figure
this out and take care of it. And we got
it taken care of. And I think that's what the
Cats are doing right now. They're getting that taken care of.
And one thing I want to say about Jasper is
(31:28):
I think that Jasper is finally turning to Bruh. Remember, like, yeah,
when he when he turned into the to the in
the game, you know what I'm saying, He turned into
the woof on the court. I think, Uh, I think
that's what we're about to start to see in with Jasper.
He's starting to get his confidence and he's turning it
into Bruh. So I think that's what we need to
start seeing, is Bruh coming to the court. And I
(31:51):
think the Cats are coming together as a team. Uh,
we just need to get behind them, get behind the coaches,
stop booing and just start supporting the team. Want to lose.
But I think most of all what we need is
we need they love and we need Bruh on the
court now, good.
Speaker 1 (32:05):
Calls and to get appreciate it. Yeah, a lot of
people probably don't know that Jasper Johnson's nickname is Bruh.
He grew up everybody knew him as Bruh. Probably very
few of his friends knew his real name because he
just went by Bruh. And when he became Bruh, he
becomes a badass on the court. Saw a little bit
of that tonight. I wish I could find that one.
Some guy sent me a tweet after maybe it was
(32:26):
the note loss to North Carolina, and like Rod said,
and Ryan, you know, Jasper Johnson is not who you
say he is. He's not gonna be that type of guy.
I wish that guy would tweet me back tonight after
he saw what Jasper did tonight.
Speaker 2 (32:36):
Did you have an alter ego or a nickname when
you were stealing bases in college?
Speaker 1 (32:41):
I think they just called me stud. Yeah, I think
that probably they called me that my whole life stud
the studs need the stud Yeah.
Speaker 2 (32:50):
Yeah, I saw a picture of will Stein with stud
finders in his office.
Speaker 1 (32:54):
Oh he did.
Speaker 12 (32:57):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (32:57):
You know my nickname was Chet. All of Kentucky Westleyan
knows me as Chet. Why because there was a baseball
player when I was playing at Wesleyan, a professional. His
name was chet Lemon. So when I got to campus,
nobody can knew my name. They are limb. That's a limb,
that's Chet. I swear. I used to get mail from
Kentucky westleyan official mail addressed to chet Lemon, and that
(33:19):
lives there. We go, all right, it's get another call.
We got a break. Who we got?
Speaker 2 (33:23):
I haven't been able to talk to this person. I
think it's Greg Gregor.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
Is this Greg?
Speaker 9 (33:28):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (33:28):
U K?
Speaker 14 (33:29):
Greg?
Speaker 17 (33:30):
A chet Lemon is I'm proud to be on the
chet limit post camps.
Speaker 1 (33:32):
So what of U K. Greg?
Speaker 8 (33:35):
It's good to talk to you.
Speaker 17 (33:37):
So a couple of things. So, you know, we talk
about how the offense was built around Low. I think
what's more important than that is Alway being the leader.
We need O Way to be that leader in the
locker room, and I think he stepped up tonight and
I hope to see that continue. And the last thing
(33:57):
I want to say is my son Peyton is a huge,
huge Zach Calfran. So he's he's doing cart. He's doing
cart will tonight, okaut.
Speaker 1 (34:07):
Go thank you Greg u K Greg, We appreciate it. Yeah,
Zach taal if you heard Mark Pope tell the story afterward,
he's trying to he's passed the l SAT, he's going
to law school. He's trying. He's applying at various law
schools now, but he wants to go to UK. So
Pope put the the plea out there. If you know
anybody can help Zach get into the UK law school,
give him, give him a shout.
Speaker 2 (34:28):
Well, I mean we've had, like we mentioned the walker
Horn shot that Drew called and now the Zach taw
one that he called again. I like these bench players
getting their moments.
Speaker 1 (34:38):
Uh, Indiana is destroying Penn State by thirty five forty
four points. And if I'm not mistaken, Lamar Wilkerson, they
just put a stat up. I believe he has forty
five points tonight. That's the kid that Kentucky was trying
to get. I commented on the show that he had
committed to Kentucky and then later that day he changed
(34:58):
and committed to in the end because Indiana hired one
of his coaches to also join the staff in Indiana.
Kind of a package deal. How good would you want?
That kid had forty five points to night Man.
Speaker 2 (35:10):
I would have loved that.
Speaker 1 (35:11):
But ten three pointers. Ten three pointers.
Speaker 2 (35:13):
You can't be doing that though. You can't just be
can't let the kids say you got to hire my cousin,
or I won't go to your school or stuff like that.
Speaker 1 (35:20):
I think that's what happened.
Speaker 2 (35:21):
They had plenty of money.
Speaker 1 (35:22):
Yeah, all right, we'll take our final break, come back.
Our final segment, got a couple phone lines open again
eight five nine two eight h two to eight seven
eight five nine two eight O Cats Ryan and Billy
on the Local Total deaders KSR postgame Show. Final segment,
Local Total deaders KSR postgame Show, Ryan and Billy Cats
a big win tonight over North Carolina Central one O
(35:42):
three sixty seven Indiana. Our next apartment on Saturday is
beating Penn State one thirteen to sixty eight, and Lamar
Wilkerson does in fact have forty four points and billy
he did it because he hit ten three pointers. Broke
the record, broke the record. He's ten of fifteen from three.
Somebody's gotta lock that guy up. Put O'll take on him. Well,
(36:03):
take a stop to guy tonight. Put O' take on
that on Lamar Wooders. He had like one.
Speaker 2 (36:07):
Hundred points with five minutes left in this game. They did,
Are you worried?
Speaker 1 (36:12):
Uh, you got to take care of business. You can't
let in those canvas converts wearing stinking tobacco, chewing hill
billy overall, wearing Indiana Hoosiers come in here and punky
on your home court. I grew up in Indiana. By
the way, I can say that, Oh, we know I
am a hill billy.
Speaker 5 (36:28):
We know.
Speaker 2 (36:29):
Well, No, I wouldn't go that far.
Speaker 1 (36:31):
Jeff Drummond has tweeted out some more sound from the
post game where I asked when the guys were asked
about off the court issues. He's got a good SoundBite
with Trent and Noah who want to play now? So
this is on Jeff Drummond's Twitter.
Speaker 16 (36:42):
We have a long season in the head. We're super talented,
we're super close and kind of just just just still
just still working the gears and we'll figure things out.
I mean, tonight was a good step, and then we
got another big one on Saturday.
Speaker 18 (36:53):
Trent, you said we're super close. I don't know how
much of the noise you hear, especially coming off a
bad loss like Friday, But there's speculation out there that
this team is not close and there's some kind of
problem behind the scenes. Can you kind of can you
dismiss that that.
Speaker 16 (37:11):
I haven't seen that personally, but that isn't that is
not true. I mean I feel like we're kind of
right now. Off these losses, we kind of it's kind
of bringing us closer together. I mean, we're such a
like it's so cliche to say every team wants to
be a tight knit group, but I really do think
that we are. I mean, we really do have our backs,
and we were continuing to learn to trust and play
with each other on the court, but off the court,
(37:33):
I mean, these are my best friends. I mean they
would say the same thing about me.
Speaker 1 (37:37):
Well, there you go, Trent Noah, addressing the question about
off the court issues, chemistry issues, fights in the locker room,
girlfriend rumors, all this stuff that's been going around in
the last couple weeks or so, buying it, Billy buying
stock in it.
Speaker 2 (37:54):
I'm just glad he played better he did. That's a
guy that wasn't getting a ton of minutes. They put
him in the starting line. He ended up scoring eleven points.
He also had six rebounds four of eight from the field,
plus twenty one in twenty six minutes. And Trent Noah
is our Johnny Rocker personal injury attorney, money maker of
the game.
Speaker 1 (38:12):
Nice nice TRANSI.
Speaker 2 (38:13):
Injured, get small town compassion with big city results. When
you call the Rocker at two seven zero three two
one four four two nine. My question to you is
who starts against Indiana at the four?
Speaker 1 (38:23):
I think I guess you got to stick with Trent, right.
I mean, even if Debata's gonna try to play, you
can't start him. Cam Williams is still trying to hit
a three pointer. Yellovich played better, he finally hit a three,
but Trentz earned it. They just played with a little
more energy. I think when he was on the court
that says something that was kind of lacking when he
(38:43):
was hurt and out. He stepped on the court to
nine and there just seem to be a little more,
a little more pop, you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (38:49):
Yeah, and back to Pope's comments, Trent isn't a perfect player,
but he gives everything he has and so yeah, you know,
if Moe's gonna come off the bench coming back from
that injury, you probably do start him at the four.
I'll just be us to see how much Jalen Low
we see in that Indiana game.
Speaker 1 (39:02):
You know, we did have a a caller on the
pregame show, so he wanted to see Chandler and Trent
on the floor at the same time, I think because
that helped spread the defense out a little bit more
that they that they you know, they started, they played
a lot together tonight, those two guys.
Speaker 2 (39:18):
They also I think we had a caller on the
morning show say that Pope needed to bench somebody after
you know, making you know, not running back from the court,
and we saw exactly that with Brandon Gerres.
Speaker 1 (39:27):
Yep, all right, eight five nine two O two two
eight seven. Our final segment, Billy's got some calls lined up.
So who we got Billy, and.
Speaker 2 (39:33):
We got five left. We'll start with Mac Mac.
Speaker 15 (39:35):
Go ahead, Mac, a longtime listener, first time a caller,
appreciate that nice talking. Yeah, I was talking to you
Ryan and Billy. You know, It's kind of funny for
me is that I interviewed Matt Jones back in twenty
ten when I was a freshman at UK. Yeah, yeah,
I interviewed him for a law law class, but ended
(40:00):
up going into medicine. So currently an North Peak surgeon.
But I just want to say that the you know,
I think that this this team, I think we need
to stick behind them. I think, remember we all have
to remember, I know the NIL changed things with money
and everything. But you know, yes, they've played some bad games.
There's been some bad effort on the floor, but you know,
as fans, I think the biggest thing is to stay
(40:22):
supportive of the team. And you know, I think benching
of Duran and Garrison the second half, this is only
the third game I've been able to watch this year,
was a good thing. But I just think that we
got to continue to support this team and you know,
stay behind the players because they hear that outside noise
and I only confect these kids when they're you remember
(40:44):
what it was like to being eighteen to twenty two
years old. But I think that this team still it's
still early in the season. I you know, I always
keep the faith kept the faith of the football team.
Will always will keep the faith with them. But as
long as we day behind this team, I think we
get Quainton's back, we get low back, and we get
(41:04):
Cam Williams to kind of make a few shots here
and there and get this team kind of rolling.
Speaker 6 (41:09):
I think we have a good.
Speaker 3 (41:10):
Future ahead of us.
Speaker 15 (41:11):
And I think my my reason for the call is
just for the fan base to kind of keep supporting
the team and don't get so negative, because we've got
to remember, these are just college kids and it's way
more to life than college basketball college football. But you know,
I think this team will bull together and if it doesn't,
you know, that's just that's what happens.
Speaker 4 (41:32):
Okay, Just like.
Speaker 1 (41:33):
Yeah, yeah, appreciate it. MA, I appreciate the phone call.
You know, he's he's right. After that Gonzaga game, fans
were not just running to the exit door. They were running,
like Sidney McLaughlin away from the fan base. Period. They
couldn't get away from UK fast enough. Well done, thank
you very much. How about mac humble Bragg? I was
(41:54):
going to go to law school. I decided to be
a surgeon. Tough, tough, tough life. Your two choices.
Speaker 2 (42:03):
Radio host or manual labor.
Speaker 1 (42:06):
Mine was high school baseball and basketball coach or the
low beat reporter at Evansville, Indiana.
Speaker 2 (42:14):
These hands are way too soft to be doing anything outside, right,
So we're glad it worked out.
Speaker 1 (42:18):
Who's our next caller? J Dub J Dubb? Go ahead,
J Dub.
Speaker 9 (42:23):
Chet, how are you doing?
Speaker 4 (42:25):
Bud?
Speaker 10 (42:25):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (42:25):
If you call me Chet, you're a You're a You're
a Wesleyan guy.
Speaker 3 (42:29):
I know I'm dismissing with you, man, Okay. The big
thing was Noah. I love having Noah in that starting lineup, man.
Speaker 1 (42:39):
Yeah, I appreciate jw He like I said earlier, he
provided a lot of pep, a lot of energy. I
I like the way they kind of came out. But
they did, like Billy you said earlier, they did kind
of struggle coming out of the gate a little bit.
They couldn't kind of find anything to defensively to keep
North Carolina Central out of the out of the lane.
Speaker 2 (42:56):
Yeah, and when they're ranked three twenty out of three
point fifty in the camp, that's concerning, right. Yeah, But
how many times have we seen somebody come in to
rup and you know, shoot pretty well, that wasn't really it.
It was no defensive breakdowns.
Speaker 1 (43:08):
Yeah, their main player was having trouble, but it was
that I think his name was Harvey, their big guy inside.
It was kind of kind of scored a bunch there
early on. Who's our next callor who we got Let's
go to j L W J LW.
Speaker 5 (43:25):
Okay, let me.
Speaker 4 (43:26):
I got a question, because I'm not the smartest person
in the world, but what do you gotta do to
burn your shirt? Wow? My question is why don't you
play the part of kid and see what we got?
I mean, I don't know if he's any good, if
he's not any good, but I think I read a
horror You've got a lot, maybe five games before you
burn your red shirt? Well, why don't we see what
(43:49):
we got with him?
Speaker 1 (43:50):
All right?
Speaker 4 (43:50):
I mean, I mean, okay, I'm sorry, go ahead.
Speaker 1 (43:53):
Well, there is there is a limit. I'm not sure
what it is for basketball. For football, you can play
in four games and still maintain your red shirt.
Speaker 2 (44:00):
I don't think that exists in basketball.
Speaker 1 (44:02):
I don't think it does either. In basketball.
Speaker 2 (44:03):
I think one minute and you're done with your red shirt.
But I'll try to double check.
Speaker 4 (44:08):
Okay, okay, I apologize. I didn't know that for sure.
But when Queenness comes back, I'm thinking about maybe we're
sure that we go play Quaintness at the firefolder say
Marino at the five, but who we go play at
the three. I know it's not gonna be Cam Williams.
Speaker 7 (44:25):
No.
Speaker 4 (44:26):
Well, and I see something. I got one more thing
I'll get off here. I think we need I think
we need to play Johnson man and just roll with
him and see what we got. But when I'm saying
that Acquaintance at the four, Marino at the five, that
row we'll be a five. I hope he comes back
to Saint John. Saint John's game. I wish you'd be
(44:47):
coming back from the in the end game. But we
had definitely got to row with the Marino at five
and Quainton is at four. What do you guys think?
Thank you for taking about call.
Speaker 1 (44:57):
All right, jail w Jaden Queen is a he is
a man child. He is a five. He's not a four.
So I think Marino and Jaden Quayton's will be sub
you know, playing switching back and forth. I think Brandon
Garrison's gonna fall further down. The bench when Jayden Quainton's
becomes healthy.
Speaker 2 (45:15):
Mark Pope's offense needs to stretch for Yeah, and it's
what they don't really have this year.
Speaker 1 (45:19):
I think they thought they had it with Cam Williams
or even Yellovich. I think they thought that could be
that Aley aminor guy standing in a corner and just
pop three's when you needed one. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (45:28):
So I mean I'm kind of looking at Trent Noah
a Cam Williams one of those two guys to rise
to the occasion. I think always at the three, right,
that's where he's been playing, no doubt. Aberdeen at the two.
Speaker 1 (45:39):
Yep, Jalen Lowe at the one, yeah, and then Jasper
backing him up, Jasper Well, Colin Chandler, he's gotta be
on the floor.
Speaker 2 (45:47):
I mean where.
Speaker 1 (45:49):
You know there was a lineup tonight bentioned Aberdeen where
Yellovich was playing the five they had Yellovich, I think
it was when Lowe was out there, low Jasper, Oway
and Chandler, and I think that was the lineup. It's
like four guards and yellowvich and the inside.
Speaker 2 (46:05):
So I believe for a red shirt, you cannot play
in an official game to have a red shirt but
a medical red shirt, you can play in thirty percent
of your team's game. You're playing less than thirty percent. Yeah,
and then you can still get a medical red shirt.
Speaker 1 (46:16):
So you know Reese Potter's value right now is he's
been beaten on Jaden Quainton's in practice. Those two guys
are battling in practice. He's that. That's his main purpose
is to help get Jayden Quainton's ready to play. Braydon Hawthorne.
He's going on a red shirt. He's gonna get bigger
and better, stronger, faster and get ready to be in
next year's recruiting class. Just let those guys mature. Reese
Potter can play. I mean, we saw him play and
(46:38):
it was a Youngstown they played. Was it Miami, Ohio
or where'd he play? But they played at Youngstown. We
went there and watched a game. On our trip up
through the North. We went to watch Kentucky play in
Philadelphia last year, So you saw him play there. Yeah,
we saw him play. I saw him playing high school.
I've seen him play for Cinth he was in middle
school since he grew up Atlexton Catholic. All right, who's
next player?
Speaker 4 (47:00):
Go to it?
Speaker 2 (47:00):
Was Miami of Ohio.
Speaker 1 (47:01):
By the way, that's what I thought, Butler. Butler, go ahead, Butler, well.
Speaker 6 (47:08):
Yeah, there's a going fellows. First of all, think taking
my call. Billy second Ball pirs to my stad and
his whole family. Hopefully you know the Lord's on their
side on this. I wasn't able to hear the first
part of the show because I was calling the time,
you know, so I can't hear when you're calling on
your phone. But there's anybody else on my side that
(47:29):
Jasper Johnson just needs to sit on the bench for
a minute. I mean he's too.
Speaker 10 (47:36):
He just comes down and he just.
Speaker 6 (47:38):
Jacks up shots without even passing it. You'll drive to
the basket without even no remorse. I mean he is
it just me?
Speaker 7 (47:48):
Yea?
Speaker 6 (47:48):
Is it driving?
Speaker 1 (47:50):
Butler? You did obviously didn't hear the first part of
the show. We're bragging on Jasper here. But I'm president
of the Jasper Johnson fan club. Butler, so I appreciate
the phone call. He's your backup point guard. He's a
better point guard than Colin Chandler. He's a better point
guard than Denzel Aberdeen. He can get in the lane,
he can throw it, He was like second only. I
(48:11):
think he's look us up, Billy. I believe he's second
on the team and assists right now behind Aberdeen. I
think Aberdeen's one. I think Jasper's number two, and he's
doing it in limited minutes. I think he's had some struggles.
He's forced up a couple bad shots. But you know what,
so is everybody else in this basketball team. Jasper's gonna
be a guy that's gonna be a superstar someday. Let
(48:33):
him grow, superstar, Let him grow.
Speaker 3 (48:35):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (48:35):
Aberdeen leads the team at thirty five assists. Colin Chandler
comes in at thirty. Jasper is a close third with
twenty eight.
Speaker 1 (48:43):
Okay, I thought Jasper was a second. Chandler probably passed
him to night because Chandler had eight assists tonight. If
the probably updated, So that's what it was, all right?
Is this our last caller?
Speaker 2 (48:54):
Is our last caller?
Speaker 1 (48:54):
He gotta be a good one.
Speaker 14 (48:55):
Who is it?
Speaker 1 (48:56):
Michael, Michael got to be a good one, Michael.
Speaker 3 (49:00):
Even, gentlemen. I hope you all are having a great night,
all right.
Speaker 4 (49:04):
I hope.
Speaker 3 (49:05):
I hope Trent Noah has taken some classes in botany
because he's getting a lot of flowers tonight, and I'm
about to add on to that. Okay, go for what
I want to see from him a lot more. All right,
that's what I want to see from him, a lot
more when he just catches it and shoots it without thinking.
I feel like he's just thinking too much when he
gets the ball sometimes and it'll lead him. It'll lead
to him just either passing up a shot he should
(49:27):
take or just you know, waiting too long and missing
the shot. So yeah, that's all I wanted to say.
Great game from him tonight. Hope to see more of that. Yea,
all the great night.
Speaker 1 (49:36):
I appreciate it. Michael. I think he was a big
reason why Kentucky came out a lot of energy. I
said that earlier. A lot of heart was because treats
out Trent Noah plays, having him in the starting lineup
from the opening tip. I think the other guy just
kind of fed off that a little bit. And then
when you get like I said, all three Kentucky boys
played well tonight, Malachi Jasper and Trent Noah, all three
(49:56):
of them played well tonight. They helped to well. They
got what they got thirty six, they got forty seven
points forty seven of one hundred and three points. Where
the three Kentucky guys and these.
Speaker 2 (50:05):
Are the games for them to do that. Yeah, absolutely,
some momentum and then hopefully can carry that over to
the team that just broke their record for threes in
a game and scored one hundred points with five minutes
left against Penn State.
Speaker 1 (50:16):
I got this is totally off topic, but I gotta
ask you a question. Yeah, they announced the three Heisman
Trophy finalists, Notre Dame running back Jeremiah Lowe, Ohio State
quarterback justin saying IU quarterback Fernando Mendoza, and Vandy quarterback
Diego Pavia. Yeah, I'm voting for Pavia. He did more.
He took Vanderbilt to a ten and two season. He
(50:39):
was must watch football. If I'm voting, I'm voting Diego Pavia.
Speaker 15 (50:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (50:44):
But his mom's really hot.
Speaker 2 (50:46):
Deanna's number one in the country.
Speaker 1 (50:48):
That's true.
Speaker 2 (50:49):
Mendoza's been a hell of a p How does Mendoza's
mother look?
Speaker 5 (50:52):
They just.
Speaker 1 (50:54):
Yoga girls, probably listening right now, throwing stuff at the radio. Yeah, well,
we'll get one more game of Avia. I guess his
bowl game is Bowl Game? Yeah, I wonder if his
mom will be at the Heisman Trophy ceremony.
Speaker 2 (51:05):
No, they probably won't show her as much. No, probably
would be.
Speaker 1 (51:08):
Yeah, should probably get more airtime than he will. All Right,
we appreciate everybody who called in, and I had some
good calls.
Speaker 15 (51:13):
You know.
Speaker 1 (51:14):
It's Kentucky a winner, one O three sixty seven over
North Carolina Central.
Speaker 15 (51:19):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (51:19):
Next up the Stinking Canvas Converse wearing tobacco farming, corn chucking,
green bee pin picking Indiana Hoosiers Saturday at Rupp Arena
for the first time since twenty ten. Load them up.
It's got to be a must win for Kentucky. They
is a must win. You have to win that game
(51:39):
at home, have to have to have to, all right.
