Speaker 1 (00:06):
NFL Covers Zero with Matt Jones and Drew Franklin is
a production of the NFL and iHeart Podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
It's another episode of NFL Cover zero coming from Lexington, Kentucky,
where we are in different spots because he's Drew Franklin,
I'm Matt Jones, and Drew is.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
Hobbled.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
He has a back injury that has made it to
where he can barely move, and so he called the
nursing home and got them to put him in his
share so he can join us.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
Drew, are you all right?

Speaker 1 (00:49):
First of all, you've had to miss a couple of
days of radio and just is everything okay?

Speaker 3 (00:54):
I'm getting by.

Speaker 4 (00:54):
I can tell you it is not fun when that
backspasm locks in. I haven't felt pain like that in forever,
but I'm playing through it. It's just been a bad
week of injuries across the NFL, me included, but I
had to show for the show.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
Yeah, I mean people who haven't had back pain. You
and I have shared it for a long time. I
mean not like literally shared it, but we both have it.
It's the worst, Like I mean, well, I'm sure there
are things that are worse, but when you get a
certain kind of pain in your back. You can't move,
especially if it's in your lower back, like whatever you
want to do, whether it's you know, walk, just lay down,

(01:33):
throw things at billy like there's nothing you can do,
and it's the worst.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
There was a moment last night. I've been sleeping at night,
I've just been staring at the ceiling. But I just thought,
I wish I just had like a broken arm, because
then it's just one arm. It's over here to the side.
I still got this one. I can walk around, but
I like physically cannot get up and move from one
room to the other. I'm pretty much had to crawl
just to get here. It's taking me down quite a bit.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
So are you did you do anything for it?

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Are you at the age where like literally you can
sneeze and then you're not moving for two weeks.

Speaker 4 (02:05):
We cannot point one specific incident, so I think it's
more of just getting old. They didn't have neither neither
side had much to contribute to what actually caused it.
He just said, it's part of I turned forty last year.
It's just part of getting into my forties.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
When I when I went to the doctor with mine
you know, they did all these scans, and I was
expecting to hear like, oh, there's a swelling of your
A six and urber, he just said, we see no
structural damage. We see inflamed nerves in part because of
a of a what did they say, a spine that

(02:40):
has been reduced by old age.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
And I was like, first of all, I don't like
that diagnosis.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
I don't think you have to be angry when you
like I don't think you have to demean me as
you're giving me that diagnosis old age. And secondly, you know,
I feel like, with the modern stuff of medicine, can
we do something. But I was out for a couple
of weeks, and so now you have been too. Yeah,
having to do with it too. I guess that's put
it the medical way of telling you year old. My

(03:08):
guy just straight up say you're getting old. But I'm
hoping to get through it and be on the other
side tomorrow. As long as I just walk around, I'm
fine doing the rest. It's just a matter of literally
standing up and moving that has been an issue. He
also said to me, I said, can you would help
if I did yoga and backstretching, And he was like,
in your case, maybe just you know, like you may

(03:31):
be so far gone that there's really nothing we could do.
But well, I'm glad you're here, and we do have
a lot of injuries to talk about. I mean, I
guess probably still the biggest story in the NFL, as
Patrick Mahomes going down he had ACL surgery. I think
we've hit a very important point in the history of
the NFL. It used to be when every athlete tore

(03:51):
their ACL, they flew to Birmingham and doctor James Andrews,
who is the only doctor whose name I know outside
of the ones I go to, he would do the surgery.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
Now I saw Mahomes went to doubtless and went to
somebody else.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
Is doctor James Andrews's now been surpassed and is he
no longer the go to doctor?

Speaker 4 (04:14):
Oh wow, I didn't realize this twist in the In
the Mahomes injury, it does say a little bit about
doctor Andrews been on the hot seat because.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
Forever you see a guy go down and you just
know they're taking a straight to doctor Andrews. It's the
only reason anybody ever went to Birmingham.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
And I have wondered for years how did that guy
end up at Birmingham? Has he ever considered moving, Has
he ever thought that there might be a better place
for him? But no, he's been surpassed, kind of like
Mahomes himself not had the greatest year ever, and so
now he's been this guy in Dallas did the surgery.
Apparently it was only in acl A lot of the

(04:51):
other ligaments were okay, So they expected me back at
the start of the year.

Speaker 4 (04:56):
On Doctor Andrews, you're reminding me they'd go to Birmingham.
It says a lot about him that he could go
to New York, LA, these big market cities where they'd
be easier to access. No, he's like, I'm good enough, y'all.
Just come on down to Birmingham.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
You're gonna have to fly in the Birmingham Regional Airport.

Speaker 3 (05:11):
You know you're gonna.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
I remember when the w W when I back in
the nineties, the WWF now WWE, they would do segments
with Doctor Andrews and show him doing the surgery on
the wrestlers, and I was like, maybe I don't want
to be stone cold, Maybe I want to be doctor Andrews.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
For as a as an adult.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
Did you have was that a path you considered the
medical career. You know, you've been took some breaks to
get in law school.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
I don't like blood, so that's I think that's part
of it.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
And then, uh, this is going to sound like a brag,
but it's just a fact. The only B I ever
got in high school, college or law school was in
my first semester of chemistry at Transy, and I got
to be plus. And I've basically revolted against science since
then because I would are it's faulty if it thought

(06:08):
that I deserve to be plus.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
This is like one of your im smarter than Internet moments. Science.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
I was like, chemistry does not recognize my talents. And
basically whether I'd have been a good doctor or not
is up for grabs. But you can think doctor whatever
his name was, that gave me a B plus when
I was a freshman.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
Well, we're all glad.

Speaker 4 (06:30):
I'll speak for Billy too, We're all glad it didn't
turn out to your medical career because this is a
lot more fun.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
It is a lot more fun.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
Well do you expect when he comes back that Mahomes
rekindles a second run.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
Andy Reid says he's not going anywhere.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
There's people who think he wants to stay to pass
Don Shula's win record. Do you think that there is
a second act in the Mahomes store.

Speaker 4 (06:53):
I do think there's a second act, But I think
the Chiefs will look a lot different. You know, I
don't expects Kelsey will be back for years. I think
they've just built that team just considering, oh we have
Pat Mahomes. He can do magic when we get down
Layton games. So it might change up the Chiefs overall
plan and how we can just lean on Superman. But
I still think that, you know, depending how that offense looks,

(07:14):
you're next year on down the road how well it
can be. But I think my Home still has a
lot of lead football in him. It's still like you're
gonna keep calling Pad like he'd have Homes and you're
just gonna keep calling Pat. That's totally fine to me.
I think they will have a transition.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
I mean, I guess in some ways this was a
transition year, but I think they have another one next year.
I think they're gonna have to build, probably through the draft.
A lot of it will depend on what Chris Jones does.
I think if he comes back. You know, that's still
that's a huge part of your cap. I think you
probably have a year where you ease into the next
generation and then you try to kind of restart it.

(07:51):
The thing is, with the NFL this season and how
it's been so open, I don't think you go into
next year thinking any of these teams are like impossible
to catch, you know what I mean? I mean, like,
are you gonna sit at home and go, well, the
Jaguars are the one seed. We could never be as
good as the Jaguars. So I think for all these teams,
their timeline moves fast or based on how open the

(08:12):
NFL has been this year.

Speaker 4 (08:14):
Yeah, I mean still see how it plays out with
the super Bowl. But where we are right now, it's
crazy how the league is upside down for what we
thought it'd be, and how teams just took advantage of
the opportunity, like the Jags or Broncos, who we still
are true believers in boone.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
Now they won me over last week, Like I'm I'm
gonna have to act like bo Nicks is not my
you know cousin that's always in trouble that you wish
would get a job, Like I'm I'm gonna have to
act like he's a real quarterback. And part of it
is because all these elite quarterbacks, I mean, dr think

(08:49):
about it. If we started the year and I said
to you, okay, who are the best quarterbacks, you would
have said, Mahomes not making the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (08:58):
You would have said, look, Josh.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
Allen, who will Lamar Jackson, who has it doesn't even
look like the same player. Joe Burrow who seems to
be having an existential philosophical crisis in his life. Jalen hurts, Uh,
they're gonna make it maybe, but they're not playing great.
Jane Daniels not gonna make it like I do. Think

(09:20):
this that bow Knicks, you have to now say, moves
into the conversation of a guy who could win a
Super Bowl and he's on a rookie contract, which is
I've talked about many times.

Speaker 3 (09:30):
I think is huge. Yeah, I didn't.

Speaker 4 (09:32):
I don't know their preseason ratings. But bow Knicks, Drake May,
I mean, even your guy Caleb Wilson. There's been some
guys that are playing way Wilson. Sorry, I was just
watching his highlights.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
To my quarterback, you don't call Patrick Mahomes Jim.

Speaker 3 (09:48):
You do call him pat, but you get his name right,
show Caleb Williams respect.

Speaker 4 (09:52):
I even include Caleb Williams in that category even though
he's a number one pick. We have a lot of
point guard quarterbacks that have Why am I thinking basketball
so much? Remember I just said to you, show some
respect on his name. So just answer as from there?
You went out for a minute. You got you you.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
I mean, did it include the Caleb Wilson part. It
included all of it. I just said, show respect on
Caleb Williams name. And then now you respond, okay.

Speaker 4 (10:18):
Yeah, so even with your boy Kayleb Williams playing above expectations.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
You're going back to You're going back to what you
said before, like we've had. The only thing I lost
is when I said show respect on Like we went
through the whole thing.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
Where you got the name wrong and all.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
That, and then I was like, so show Caleb Williams respect, babe.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
All right, now I'm confused. I thought I would. Is
it not where I just said Caleb Wilson? Do I know?
Need to correct? We kept going.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
We kept going for a minute, and then I said, okay,
you wouldn't calling Jim Mahomes, show respect on his name, babe.

Speaker 4 (10:52):
All the quarterbacks at the top of the list right now,
even guys that I thought were past their prime. Dak Prescott,
the way he's been playing, Matt Stafford. I mean, those
are names. We clearly know those are MVPs. But just
the what we thought we'd see this year, just the Mahomes, Alan,
the usuals. Some guys have stepped in and taken that
spot this year very unexpectedly.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
Well, I hope he gets healthy. The league is better
with Patrick Mahomes. I still think that Patrick Mahomes. The
NFL needs Patrick Mahomes, but they're not going to have
him very long, at least for the rest of the
year now. Monday Night Football was two nights ago. The
Steelers beat the Dolphins. You know, the Steelers you can

(11:32):
talk about they still now lead the division. I actually
don't think that's as interesting as on the losing team.

Speaker 3 (11:38):
Two things one two.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
After the game has he meets a player on the
other side and they basically have their own podcast. They
talked for a long time. He's laughing, He's like, hey man,
what's up. And I'm just re enacting how I think
the conversation went he was like, yo, I don't know
what he said, but the point is that they looked
very chummy, right, and people were angry, saying, you just

(12:03):
got beat You shouldn't be so happy to the game.

Speaker 3 (12:07):
What do you think about that.

Speaker 4 (12:09):
I've mostly seen the reaction to it that's all been
pretty negative. I guess it's a bad look. And I've
even seen other people on podcasts and shows say that
quarterbacks do this, but they'll go hide in the tunnel
when they know it's a bad loss. So yeah, overall,
it's not a good look. Is his teammates have been
upset about it.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
It's it's not as it's coming out in their interviews.

Speaker 4 (12:28):
It seems like it's not the usual let's just trade
jerseys and get out of here. I mean, they were
really paling it up over there, and he's laughing, and
you know, they've been a hot team that still had
maybe playoff potential, very unlikely, but that completely eliminated them.
And he's over there going over the top with being friendly.
That's competitive with the guy he just played against.

Speaker 3 (12:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
See, I didn't know about his teammates because I feel
like I do sometimes take.

Speaker 3 (12:49):
Cues from the teammates.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
So, I mean, all these guys after games pal around
a little bit, so they kind of know what the
lineing is.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
And if his.

Speaker 1 (12:59):
Teammates are mad, that means they kind of don't think
he's serious.

Speaker 3 (13:02):
Anyway.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
Now he got binged, not necessarily because specifically of that,
but just because they wanted to play someone else quinn
Ewers is going to play, which even though he only
played in college last Year's a name I had forgotten.
I think we mentioned him a few times at the.

Speaker 3 (13:17):
Start of the season and I still had already forgotten him.
I don't so much care.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
I guess part of it is all these dudes this
year who played like third, fourth, fifth round have been playing,
so maybe they want to see if quinn Ewers can
do it. But if you're TUA and you're getting bitch
for quinn Ewers, isn't there a part where you start
to wonder, like, is the tu a time over in Miami?

Speaker 4 (13:40):
Yeah, he got Russell Wilson. He went from first to third.
They even put Zach Wilson at too. They oh, they
took him to third, so they did. They got the
rustle Jack Wilson siding. Again, we actually live in a
world where we were one injury away from Zach Wilson
playing quarterback in the NFL again. But the same thing
that happened to Russell, except two is on a different circumstance.
That was kind of a one year off Russell deal.

(14:02):
I mean, they owe to a lot of money next year,
and I mean, you're gonna pay him that to be
your third string quarterback or however that'll play out. But
they did move him not just one spot back too,
which sent a message.

Speaker 3 (14:12):
Well, Russell Wilson.

Speaker 1 (14:13):
Those kind of like Tua in the sense that his
teammates didn't seem to like him either. I mean, I wonder,
I don't know, like I felt like Tua always seemed
so likable until a year ago. And I mean, with
all the injuries everybody's been I think.

Speaker 3 (14:31):
Rooted for him. I've rooted for him.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
I don't even know the guy, and now it just
feels like the whole thing is completely different. If you
lost a game, though, Let's say you played for Pittsburgh
and I played for Miami and I hadn't seen you
in a while, what is okay for us to do
like I can't come up and like, you know, pinch
your tubby clearly, So like, what is it that's okay

(14:54):
for me to do?

Speaker 4 (14:57):
I think most of it you do before you even
played the game. I either see in warm ups, we talk.
He might even go to dinner night before after the game.
You got to keep it pretty brief, especially if.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
You're on the losing end. You want to eat.

Speaker 4 (15:07):
Hey, you should feel it, especially as a quarterback, and
you should be showing that as a leader. But also
you just don't want it to look different than it
really is, and people play it up that you're over
there just chumming it up, even if it is just
a quick hello. So I would try to be in
and out. I would meet you for dinner the night before.
I'd treat your hat before z that but good, but
probably yeah after, especially on the losing end, get out
of there and get back to your life.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
We want we want our players to seem sad, even
if they're not.

Speaker 3 (15:31):
We want you to seem sad.

Speaker 1 (15:32):
Billy, what do you think about the screen of hair
that's hanging out from drew side there? That like it
has its own Yeah, like it has its own like
little life there on the I guess.

Speaker 3 (15:43):
That's your side, got Right's awesome though. I like it,
this long foot, good flow to be able to have
his head. I'm jealous one had his own mind over there. No,
it looks good, drew it together.

Speaker 5 (15:55):
I did want to say on to it quickly though,
guys that he just signed a four year, two hundred
and twelve million dollar exempt extension last year and now
he's third string behind Zach Wilson.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
That's going to I mean, they're going to take a
huge cap hit, just like Denver did for Russell Wilson.
And I don't think there's really anything I know, how
you bring him back. If you get bench second string
for Zach Wilson, I think you're just you're gonna have
to say that's probably it, which is amazing because again,
there was a time three years ago where he was
mentioned as maybe one of the five best quarterbacks in
the league and now not even going to.

Speaker 3 (16:25):
Be playing for his team.

Speaker 4 (16:27):
All right, So did you see Tyreek Hills Instagram where
he did the peace out today where he replied I
couldn't tell if it was negative for Tua or positive
for Tua, but right after the news came out, he
just did that peace sun meme.

Speaker 3 (16:38):
Almost I don't know if he was like to.

Speaker 4 (16:40):
Get out of here, Tua, or maybe I'm getting out
here because I'm mad you bitched, Tua.

Speaker 1 (16:44):
It is, but it's hard to it's hard to translate
Tyreek to regular conversation. I never know, I never know
what he means. But he's also I mean, you know,
he's been a non factor really except for his first
six or eight games in Miami. It's been a year
and a half of being disappointed. All right, Billy, what

(17:06):
are some other headlines?

Speaker 5 (17:08):
Well? Speaking of Miami, they take on Cincinnati this week,
and Cincinnati announced that Joe Burrow is going to start
the final three games of the season despite being eliminated
from the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (17:17):
And you know, I don't like that decision.

Speaker 1 (17:22):
Normally I would say, play right, that's why you're there,
go ahead and play. But with him and his injuries
and his injury history and his sort of you know,
EMO phase, I feel like he's going in it might
be it might be good for him to like sit
at home, listen to morrisy and maybe take the rest
of this year off. I don't really see the reasoning,

(17:44):
do you. No.

Speaker 4 (17:46):
I know he wants to. He has that attitude of
I'm having fun playing football. I'm not just going to
sit here and watch my teammates. I get that you
need to be that way between the ears as a competitor,
but man, if you were to get hurt again in
these last three games, that would just be unforgivable. On
Cincinnati for Lennon play, I completely understand. I want him
to sit out. I can't believe they're honestly.

Speaker 1 (18:07):
Coming off one of his worst performances of his career,
right shut out. I mean, they got shut out, and
it wasn't just that they got shut out.

Speaker 3 (18:17):
He was bad, like he legitimately was bad him.

Speaker 1 (18:20):
It wasn't just the offensive line, it wasn't receivers dropping passes.

Speaker 3 (18:25):
He was bad. And I would look at that and say,
especially on the heels of those interviews.

Speaker 1 (18:31):
He did last week, this just maybe a guy that
we need to just let sit and bring back because
he's clearly one of the best talents in the league
and it's not happening right now. So I'm surprised they're
playing him. I would not if I were the Bengals.
But you know, as long as he doesn't get hurt,
I guess it'll be fine. But if he gets hurt.

(18:51):
If he gets hurt, it might be a clean sweep
of everyone in Cincinnati. That might happen anyway. But if
he gets hurt, then I think it definitely will.

Speaker 4 (19:00):
I completely agree, and you know, you never want to
see a guy get hurt. But I'm be on Pensinito's
watching this because that will just be a horrible look
for the Bengals. Off somewhere happened to him with nothing
left to play for.

Speaker 3 (19:09):
I love Joe Burrow. I like everything.

Speaker 1 (19:12):
I think he's fun. I think he's made Cincinnati much
less of a joke. And I'm very pro Joe Burrow.
But you know, sometimes you see a friend and you go, hey, man,
you need a couple of weeks off, like you just see.
You know, sometimes people will do that. They'll come up

(19:34):
to me and they'll go, now, how you feeling And
I and even if I don't think anything's wrong, I
start to go, well, I thought I was feeling good.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
Your tone makes me think I'm not feeling well. I
feel like somebody needs to give a Joe Burrow, well,
how you feeling?

Speaker 1 (19:55):
Like?

Speaker 3 (19:55):
He's everything good? You know that? I think he needs
one of those.

Speaker 4 (20:00):
Yeah, And I think even if His lineman recognized that
too with that press conference Borough did last week. It
even brought up Andrew Luck comparisons. Everyone around him is
just like, Joe's not having fun right now. I mean,
does he need to go to King's Island's not far away?
Week week on past the King's Island. He's back probably
feeling great. I'm a little cold to go to King's

(20:21):
Island right now.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
I mean, I think I can't imagine the Beast Aquarius
weather would be Aquarius comfy.

Speaker 4 (20:30):
But uh, but he just needs some Joe time, is
the point. Whether that's King's Island or somewhere else. He
just needs to He needs to get.

Speaker 3 (20:36):
His shine back.

Speaker 1 (20:37):
Listen, I'm not saying I just want him to be happy,
because when he's out there playing well, being cocky, the
locks are flowing.

Speaker 3 (20:45):
I just think it's a better Uh, it's a better league.
What's next? Bill?

Speaker 5 (21:03):
The Beast would not be good under his back right now.
Let me tell you you're not das.

Speaker 3 (21:08):
At King's Island.

Speaker 1 (21:09):
For people who don't know, that's a roller coaster, it's
all wood I think it's the fastest all wooden roller
coaster in the world. Is it the same Beast? I
rode thirty years ago? Or have they updated it?

Speaker 5 (21:21):
I think it's the same one they had Son of
the Beast, but they shut that down since so Beast
still lives on same one.

Speaker 1 (21:28):
Part of me says the technology on roller coasters has
not improved as much as it should. I'm not going
to go off on a tangent, but when you think
about the fact that they built the subway in New
York in like nineteen fifteen with the technology that they
had at the time, and that like the subway you

(21:49):
take now is kind of the same one, You're like,
could we not have updated this in one hundred years.

Speaker 6 (21:59):
I kind of feel the same way about the Beast,
like that beast has existed for forty years. Is there
not a way to I don't know, give me a
massage while I take it, or something like, there's got
to be a way to make it a little more updated.

Speaker 4 (22:14):
I've been breaking backs for decades and being on wood,
you think like termites would get it just where it's I've.

Speaker 1 (22:21):
Wondered about termites since I was a kid. I would
look for the turbites before I got home.

Speaker 3 (22:26):
How have they not already eaten the beast and all
this time. That thing.

Speaker 4 (22:29):
I don't know why people think wouldn't roller coasters are
fun that will break your back?

Speaker 1 (22:33):
It is not well, I hate roller coasters in general,
but I just big picture. I feel like America was
really way ahead of itself with technology when we were
doing subways and the Brooklyn Bridge.

Speaker 3 (22:47):
We haven't put another brook like the same Brooklyn Bridge. Wait,
there should be a new one by now. All right,
I'm done, Go ahead, all right.

Speaker 5 (22:56):
We're getting closer to the holiday, so that means Saturday football.
We've got two games on Saturday this week. The nine
to five Eagles take on the four and ten Commanders.
By the way, Jane Daniels shut down for the rest
of the year, it will be Marcus Mariota. And then
it's the Green Bay Packers versus the Chicago Bears in
a battle for the NFC North and Caleb Williams looking
for a little revenge after losing to the Packers just

(23:16):
a couple weeks ago.

Speaker 1 (23:17):
So bad luck for the NFL that the next three
marquee weeks they've got the Commanders in big spots. And
not only to have the Commanders not in the playoffs,
it's a lot of Marcus Mariota. As someone who who
got to watch a lot of Marcus Mariota over the
years with the Titans, are you excited for I mean,
were getting maybe too much Marcus Mariota in prime spots.

Speaker 3 (23:41):
It's already been way too much.

Speaker 4 (23:43):
I mean, there was a moment earlier in the season
where I didn't even know he was still in the NFL.
Then he popped up when Jaydon and Daniels got hurt.
It was cool seeing him fill in for a couple
of weeks. But now he's played just as many games
as Jadon Daniels. It seems so Yes, it's too much Mariota.
And I feel bad that the second year Jade Daniels
experiment there, we didn't really we don't get degraded. That
was one of our talking points for the year. What

(24:04):
will the sophomore season look like? And he's just been
so injured. It's been a throwaway season for the Commanders.

Speaker 3 (24:09):
Yeah, it has. And you know, he was kind of CJ.

Speaker 1 (24:11):
Stroud had a very similar second year, and he's kind
of bounced back and had a pretty good third year.
Be interesting to see what happens with him. The Eagles
played the Commanders two out of the next three weeks.
They're gonna lose one of these games. Just wait and
see this will happen. This is a very Eagles thing.
You look at those and you go, well, they should
win both of these. With Marcus Mario, they will find
a way to lose one of these two.

Speaker 3 (24:35):
Now the Bears packers that night.

Speaker 1 (24:38):
You know. So two weeks ago we were previewing this
when they played in Green Bay, and I said it
was one of the biggest games for the Bears in
a long time, that they didn't have to win, but
that they needed to prove they belonged. And I think
they did that right. They came down to the final
play right. Two weeks later. Now this game's at home.
If you win this game, you have a very good

(24:59):
shot of winning the North. If you lose this game,
you have a legitimate shot of not making the play.
So this is a huge game. I'm not gonna say
must win, but if you want to sort of completely
move past the last twenty five years of the Bears,
like forget how much we've lost. This is a game

(25:25):
you win and I think you exercise the demons if
you win this one this Saturday night.

Speaker 4 (25:32):
And I'm a neutral party here. I know you get
caught up as a fan. I'm feeling good about the
Bears finishing strong here. I mean the Packers just like
lost Michael Parsons. I honestly think that takes them out
of Super Bowl contention and being in that top tier.
That defense was playing so well with him getting to
the quarterback as you mentioned, they were in it, and

(25:52):
just Caleb Williams just lofted that past terrible interception there
in the red zone to lose.

Speaker 3 (25:57):
I think they get redemption here. And I know they've been.

Speaker 1 (25:59):
Beating the Packers once out of the last I think
fifteen tempts, So there is there is a part you
just have to do it. It's like what you and
I are ar Kentucky football fan. So they've lost to
Florida twenty seven straight years. They had to make it
to where that stat didn't get brought up anymore. I
think in the NFL equivalent, the Bears need to do this.

(26:21):
And then having just played them two weeks ago primetime
Saturday night, you know this is being because there's a
feast or famine thing. You win this game, you'll probably
be the number two seed in the playoffs. You lose
this game, you got a real chance to not be
in the playoffs. It's a huge, it's huge.

Speaker 4 (26:39):
That's why I think they get them, being right there
with that Williams interception that could have that game should
have gone overtime in green Bay, they know they can
beat them, and since that happened, green Bay's defense has
one of the worst injuries any team can have in
the league this year. I think they get that one,
and then, if I'm not mistaken, you in with Detroit,
I think they get both of them, and the Bears
take forty.

Speaker 3 (26:58):
Nine ers in between two they go to. I think
they win both those division games. Yeah, and that Detroit game.

Speaker 1 (27:06):
If you lose, if Detroit wins their next two and
you lose to green Bay in San Francisco, that Detroit
game is a win and you're in. Like, whoever wins
that game will make the playoffs. So I hope we
don't get to that point, and I hope they get it.

Speaker 3 (27:20):
We'll see. I do like that.

Speaker 1 (27:21):
That game is on Saturday night, and I'm already trying
to figure out what I'm gonna wear for good luck.

Speaker 3 (27:28):
I'm thinking I'm thinking mesh tank top.

Speaker 4 (27:31):
Okay, is it Bears themed or just a mesh tank top. No,
I'm just thinking just in general.

Speaker 5 (27:38):
Day a mesh Yeah, like I feel like.

Speaker 1 (27:40):
It'll be I mean, I'm not going out with that,
but I feel like I wear at my house kind
of feel frisky and that'll make the Bears play well.

Speaker 3 (27:49):
Billy, do you agree with that?

Speaker 5 (27:51):
I'm all for it. Lucky socks, mesh tank tops, whatever
you need to do to get the team over the top.
I mean, you got to be that fan.

Speaker 1 (27:57):
I don't have one, though, so if anybody knows where
you can buy one.

Speaker 3 (28:02):
If you get one and they win, you have to
start wearing it every game.

Speaker 5 (28:05):
You have a cowboy hat?

Speaker 3 (28:07):
Oh you're going to go match? Take top and cowboy hat? Oh?
What do you say to the door? Pizza got the door?
When you open the door wearing that? How the cowboy?
That what you're saying?

Speaker 4 (28:18):
Do you have any I know you have a hoodie
for every team, but do you have any superstitions when
you're watching the Bears.

Speaker 3 (28:24):
We know I'm in Kentucky fans, you know you're getting
a shower.

Speaker 1 (28:26):
I've started wearing Bears paraphernalia during the games. I don't
know why we do that when we don't go out,
like why would you wear a Bear's shirt in your house?
Watching the Bears? But it makes me feel good. I mean,
I'm going to be very nervous Saturday night. I don't
hate the Packers like other Bears fans do, but I
want to see them make the playoffs because I may
go to the playoff game if they make it, depending

(28:49):
on where it is, and I'd like to see him
make it.

Speaker 3 (28:52):
What's next? Bill?

Speaker 5 (28:53):
The Broncos have a big opportunity this week. They take
on the ten and four Jacksonville Jaguars, but Denver can
clinch the first round by with a win, a Chargers loss,
a Patriots loss, and a Buffalo loss. But a stat
to think about, and that's.

Speaker 1 (29:07):
Too many things. I don't like when people say four
things to me. I shouldn't hear how many things there
are unless there are three or less things true when
we start getting to I mean, you said the Patriots lost,
Chargers lost, in Buffalo lost. Those are like the three
best teams, so yeah, if they all lost.

Speaker 3 (29:25):
That would make sense. But what are the chances of that?

Speaker 5 (29:29):
Who knows? I mean any given Sunday.

Speaker 3 (29:33):
Any given Sunday, But That's something to.

Speaker 5 (29:35):
Think about though, is that this will be the first
postseason without either Peyton Manning, Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes
since nineteen ninety eight.

Speaker 1 (29:45):
Wow, that's an amazing stat So that's twenty eight years
without one of those three people being being in the
in the postseason.

Speaker 5 (29:56):
Almost my entire life.

Speaker 3 (29:59):
As you say, ability, do you even remember football before
that string of court it's listened?

Speaker 5 (30:03):
No, not really? I mean Peyton thrown interceptions is rooky
year on the Colts was you know, you wort.

Speaker 1 (30:10):
Of look at football as eras, right, So if you
just go through my lifetime, I think of like my
football life begins with the eighty five Bears, and then
it is forty nine ers into the early nineties Cowboys,

(30:31):
right into an area in the late nineties where it
kind of gets muddy, and then it's basically Brady and
Manning into mahomees. And so in some ways this is
Drew Like, if I sort of look at football as these,
is this like five or six eras of my lifetime?

(30:51):
It is weird to have one where it's now completely different.

Speaker 4 (30:56):
Yeah, we got to sell the Brady to Mahomes transition
right from front of us. We knew this was coming,
so from Mahomes to finally be out, it is crazy
to close the book like that. But who's the next?
What's the next in line for my Homes? Well, I
mean this is I think a Josh Allen here. We'll
have to see as far as though, I.

Speaker 3 (31:12):
Mean as calm like in an era though.

Speaker 1 (31:15):
Yeah, I mean, we'll see what it ends up being
the Broncos Jaguars. Who would have ever imagined that you
would get Week sixteen and that game would be one
that is so important? Is the game in Jacksonville or Denver?

Speaker 5 (31:28):
It is in drum roll, please Denver.

Speaker 1 (31:33):
Yeah, I'm gonna take the Broncos again. I'm gonna I mean, I'm.

Speaker 5 (31:37):
Sort of believing in bo Nicks, which I don't want
to do, but I think I have to.

Speaker 1 (31:43):
Although, by the way, Calor Lawrence has looked great these
last few weeks, I don't think.

Speaker 3 (31:47):
I don't think you can act like he has.

Speaker 4 (31:49):
Well, I was gonna say, if this we're in Jacksonville,
I might take the Jags because I'm believing in them too.
It's amazing just looking at the playoff picture. I mean,
we've been talking about Denver being one for a few
weeks now, But now you have Jacksonville at three, and
it's just two scenarios we never thought would be possible,
and we're looking right at him. And I'll pick Denver
because it's in Denver. But I wouldn't write the Jags off.
They've gotten not lately, William Cohen. We're just gonna keep

(32:12):
moving them off those Coach of the Year rankings each week.

Speaker 3 (32:27):
What's next.

Speaker 5 (32:28):
On the flip side, there are three teams that are
two and twelve right now and tied for the first
pick in the next NFL draft, the Giants, the Raiders,
and the Titans in that order because they are separated
by strength of schedule, and if you look at most
mock drafts, they have Fernando Mendoza going as the first
overall pick, the Heisman Trophy winner from Indiana.

Speaker 1 (32:49):
Yeah, I mean oddly though, Drew, I'm not sure that
it matters a lot who like. Normally I would say
loops so that you can get the first pick. But
the Giants and the Titans do not need a quarterback,
and the Raiders do. But I don't think anyone else

(33:12):
in the top five or six ducks, so I think
they're gonna get the first choice of quarterbacks anyway.

Speaker 3 (33:19):
So, and none of the quarterbacks I think are a
slam dunk.

Speaker 1 (33:23):
So I think for all these teams, the sort of
incentive to tank may not exist, and it actually may
be what you kind of want, which is people playing
with the goal of winning the game.

Speaker 3 (33:34):
Do you agree with that?

Speaker 4 (33:36):
Yeah, it's definitely not the quarterback classes that we've seen recently.
And who knows if Mendozo pan out.

Speaker 3 (33:41):
He's even been.

Speaker 4 (33:41):
Somewhat of surprise in college this year. Selfishly, for my Titans,
I want to number one because we're definitely trading it,
and I just want to get as much as possible
because we have year. Anybody even then trading up. Yeah,
I mean you would need a special player at one,
and I don't know if this class has one.

Speaker 1 (33:55):
Yeah, I don't know that anyone's gonna want it. I mean,
you look at the teams with really bad records. Okay,
so we mentioned those, the Titans and the Giants do not.
Do the Jets need a quarter back?

Speaker 6 (34:08):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (34:09):
I guess so. I mean you there's somebody you would have.
The Commanders have four wins, they do not need a quarterback.
The Saints, I think they're gonna end up rolling with
Tyler Shutt now. I mean he's been playing really well,
Drew when you just kind of roll with him.

Speaker 4 (34:23):
I think so with this QB class, just because the
Ingles Ingles have four wins, they don't need a quarterback.

Speaker 5 (34:30):
What did you say or did you say the Browns yet?

Speaker 1 (34:34):
I did not say the Browns. They have three wins,
so the Browns probably do. So I guess you're sitting
there and if you're the Raiders, as long as you
stay ahead of the Browns and the Jets. But I
don't know if there's anybody that would make one of
those teams trade up.

Speaker 3 (34:45):
The Browns have already traded up a couple of times,
so I don't know.

Speaker 1 (34:50):
I feel like I feel like it's not quite the
prize it was before. And even at the position players,
I don't think there's anybody that's like, well, they're definitively
the number one pick.

Speaker 3 (35:01):
No.

Speaker 4 (35:01):
Titans are looking at a linebacker from Ohio State. But
I don't know how people would try. I can't remember
that that's the guy though that most people think is
the best. Yeah, even the Oregon quarterbacks up there in
the top ten. Maybe maybe you get into the marketing
and the combine and the buzz and the talking, and
someone would bite and trade up for one of those guys.
But I still wanted Titans to have number one back
to back years, just just kind of like a trophy

(35:23):
to have that you sucked the most.

Speaker 3 (35:24):
You want them to.

Speaker 1 (35:25):
Continue to have the highest pick and do nothing with it.
Fair enough, if you're gonna be bad, like be the worst,
you know what's being twenty ninth in one of these
teams that we mentioned. This always happens, though. They'll pull
a big upset in the last week or two one
of those teams, and you don't really know because you
don't know who still cares. But inevitably, in that last

(35:45):
week or two, there's some three four win team that
wins a big game and screws up the playoffs seed.
It happens every single year.

Speaker 4 (35:54):
It won't screw up the playoffs. But I'm watching my
Titans to knock off the Chiefs this week. The Titans
have been getting better and better, and they're going to
Gardner Minshew and have nothing to play for you.

Speaker 3 (36:03):
I mean, that's a sneaky game. That's a sneaky upset
for me, But.

Speaker 1 (36:06):
I don't think that's a crazy upset like a Moore
trying to I'm looking here trying to think of an example.
I mean, probably is all these like the Ravens, Well
they're seven and seven. I don't know that there is
a perfect one for this year. The Commanders beating the
Eagles would be an example of that, though, right that
would be a game where and I think they I
think they got a really good shot at doing it.

Speaker 3 (36:28):
What's the Commander's lyn I think I'm betting.

Speaker 5 (36:31):
Let's see, the Commanders this week are six and a
half point dogs at home.

Speaker 3 (36:38):
That's low.

Speaker 1 (36:38):
I wanted it to be more than one possession. Well,
if that gets to seven and a half, I'm betting
the Commanders to cover that spread.

Speaker 5 (36:48):
What's next, We've got two more notes until we get
to our victory bundle and our picks. We have a
big one on Monday night. It's the forty nine Ers
versus the Colts in Indianapolis, where head coach Shane Steiken
announced that Philip Rivers will be starting the game.

Speaker 1 (37:05):
So for Philip Rivers, I don't know about poor, but
he has to start with the Seattle defense and then
he's gonna be on Monday Night Football with Peyton and
Eli critiquing his old man moves.

Speaker 3 (37:18):
There's a great story.

Speaker 1 (37:19):
Week one played decently well, I think, better than most
people would have thought.

Speaker 3 (37:27):
But now people have.

Speaker 1 (37:29):
A week of film on him. He's playing another good defense.
He cannot move side to side, Like he cannot move
side to side. I kind of feel like he's going
to look awful Saturday Monday Night. What about you, well.

Speaker 4 (37:48):
I think just coming back into shape. He was in
and playing it all last week. He's probably walking around
like I'm walking around my house just holding my back
up and leaning on walls as best I can. As
fun as it was, and I'm excited to watch Monday Night.
I think we're headed for a big comedown moment playing
the forty nine ers. And even if they stick with
him the rest of the year, I think they have
of Texans next. They have like an insane run of defenses.

Speaker 1 (38:09):
They have like the artist run imaginable finishing here, like
he couldn't have gotten a worst draw. I think if
they lose this game, they might just say don't worry
about it anymore, because then they're not really in the
playoff hunt. With that said, If they win, they remain
in the playoff hunt, and that game against the Texans

(38:29):
could be.

Speaker 3 (38:29):
For the division.

Speaker 1 (38:31):
So I mean like there's still something there if he
can go and grab it.

Speaker 4 (38:35):
Yeah, they finished with Jags and Texans, so if they
were to win, they could really rock the AFC South
as it stands now, hurt both of those teams. But
you mentioned the Manning cast. That'll be fun just because
he played directly against those guys. They know how long
they've been out of the league. They're gonna be probably
just as mesmerized the fans at home watching Philip Rivers
out there throwing it around.

Speaker 3 (38:54):
I love the.

Speaker 1 (38:54):
Story when he has time in the pocket and he
can still put some zip on it. I still don't
know if he can throw the deep pass. He only
really threw two. One of them was intercepted, but that
was the last play he was trying to going for something.

Speaker 7 (39:06):
So we'll see what ends up happening this week.

Speaker 3 (39:23):
What's next.

Speaker 5 (39:24):
Finally, congratulations to Sean McVay and his wife. They welcomed
their second child a day after clinching a playoff berth
with the Rams. Christian Alexander McVeigh is healthy and ready
to go and during his press conference, he said, what
a crazy week to be playing on a Thursday. It's
the Rams at Seattle on Thursday night. He says he
hasn't got a ton of sleep. Is this a motivation

(39:46):
game or reason why to bet Seattle because Sean McVay
hasn't been able to sleep or think about football.

Speaker 1 (39:52):
First of all, I'm surprised you are now including baby
announcements in the in the news. I will tell you
a story since you're doing this that my mom we
were watching one of the games on Sunday, and I
want to say, maybe it was TJ. Watt was saying
this about someone. I'm not sure which player it was,

(40:14):
and he said somebody made a sack. So it was
a defensive lineman. And he said something like he's a
new dad, and everybody knows new dads play great football.
And my mom, who had been very quiet for most
of the day, goes, what does that mean? And I

(40:34):
was like, I don't know. She was like, new dads
play great football. I'll tell you this, if a new
dad plays great football, that means he's not doing his
dad responsibilities. She was like outraged. She talked about it
for like ten minutes. She was infuriated. So if Sean

(40:56):
mcvay's not getting sleep, then that means maybe he's being
a good dad.

Speaker 3 (41:01):
But Drew, it might hurt the football.

Speaker 1 (41:03):
Team because he's dad that are doing their responsibility may
not play great football.

Speaker 3 (41:09):
They call it dad's strength. I believe in it. You know,
players step up.

Speaker 4 (41:13):
It's because they know they have someone to provide for
and they have to keep getting that check.

Speaker 3 (41:17):
They're playing real.

Speaker 1 (41:18):
Saying that people say new dads play great football.

Speaker 3 (41:21):
I've never heard this before.

Speaker 4 (41:23):
Uh, there have been players at the collegiate UK in
the past that I've had kids. You know, it's kind
of rare in college we've said they had dad strength.
At the NFL, though, you know most of them are fathers,
so it would be hard to point out billion new
dads play great.

Speaker 5 (41:37):
I have heard the sentiment before, but I'm completely with
your mom, Like, if you're doing it right, you're distracted.
It's not going to be a normal game week plus
a short week Thursday night football. I think I'm hammering Seattle.

Speaker 3 (41:48):
JFK.

Speaker 1 (41:49):
What said, show me a good golfer, and I'll show
you a man that's neglecting something in his life and
I always thought that was a great quote. And I
ain't give you show me a dad that's one hundred
percent for football a few days after he had a kid.
Then chances are he tuned out on the on the kid,

(42:12):
so it's they's sleeping.

Speaker 3 (42:14):
I think that says a lot about his dad abilities.

Speaker 4 (42:18):
Did he even leave the facility this week or did
he FaceTime meet the baby and get right back to work.

Speaker 5 (42:24):
He sounds like.

Speaker 1 (42:26):
They share responsibility and he was changing diapers during the walkthrough, okay,
And I think that says That says he is being
a good father, uh to his kids. It's now time
for the victory Bundle, presented by a liberty mutual. We
pick three games that we like and then you can

(42:47):
bundle them up and uh and win and it'll be
a beautiful thing.

Speaker 3 (42:52):
What you said the Broncos were a three point favorite
to the Jaguars.

Speaker 5 (42:56):
Is that Ryan Denver is, let's see on this one.
Yeah it is, yes, Uh.

Speaker 3 (43:03):
I am going to go with the Broncos.

Speaker 1 (43:06):
The Jaguars have feasted in recent weeks on a below
average schedule, Jacksonville is below sea level. Denver is, Actually
I don't know, is that true?

Speaker 5 (43:19):
Or did I just make that up, probably a little
of up.

Speaker 3 (43:23):
Yeah, you think it's both a little true and I
made it up, well a little.

Speaker 1 (43:29):
It's not as high above sea level as Denver is,
So I'm going to say that Denver handles the elements
and I'm going to take the Broncos to do the three.

Speaker 3 (43:40):
So they are one of myne for the bundle, Drew,
what about you?

Speaker 4 (43:44):
Before I give them? I have to ask Billy a question. Yeah,
how bad are the Buccaneers because I didn't expect them
to be a field goal favorite at Carolina? Yeah, on
the road, I mean they've lost to the Saints. How
many a row have you lost?

Speaker 5 (43:55):
It's like six of eight or five of seven. I
would I would stay away from the Bucks, especially on
the road.

Speaker 4 (44:02):
All Right, I got I'm going with Carolina getting points.

Speaker 5 (44:04):
That's fine.

Speaker 1 (44:05):
At three, you're going with Carolina getting points at home?

Speaker 3 (44:09):
Interesting? See, I was going to take the Bucks there.
That's what I want to ask.

Speaker 5 (44:13):
You don't want to be on that side of history, right?

Speaker 4 (44:15):
They seem they do seem really bad lately. I was
surprised to see that they're the favorite.

Speaker 3 (44:20):
Nice, you're gonna go Carolina.

Speaker 1 (44:21):
So we have Carolina in Denver, Billy, I'll let you
pick one as well.

Speaker 5 (44:26):
Okay, I think Atlanta is terrible and they are our
favorite on the road in Arizona. So I'm going to
take you.

Speaker 3 (44:33):
You're feeling a little hot Jacoby Brissett.

Speaker 5 (44:35):
I mean he'll throw it fifty six times, he'll complete
forty two of them, and they're going to get a win.
Give me Arizona as a home underdog here, Yeah, Billy
going home dogs.

Speaker 1 (44:48):
Bob Billy is with the hot Jacoby Brissette action is
going to take the Cardinals. So a Cardinals, Broncos, Panthers
victory bundle. I don't know if Liberty Mutual when they
were doing this, was like, we want to have those three.
But that's your victory bundle, presented by Liberty Mutual. Start

(45:08):
your quote at Libertymutual dot com. So I think you
mentioned the big game this weekend. You got the forty
nine ers Colts. Do you give the Ravens any chance
on Sunday Night against the Patriots?

Speaker 4 (45:23):
No, not at all, not even a little bit. I
think the Patriots are just looking too good right now.
They'll get that done being in prime time, and they'll
be ready to go for the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (45:31):
Steelers Lions an elimination game for the Lions. They lose
this game, playoffs are basically done for them.

Speaker 3 (45:40):
What's gonna happen? They have to win. They're at home.

Speaker 4 (45:44):
I know the Steelers looked improved a week ago, playing
good football now, but the Lions have to win this
to stay in the hunt.

Speaker 3 (45:51):
You didn't give a number, but I'll say they win
and anything.

Speaker 1 (45:55):
Yeah, I like the Lions big in this game. By
the way, I like them big. I think the Steelers
have been feast or famine. They don't have to have
this game. They still have Thevens coming up in the
game that will decide the division. It's it's act. They're
not gonna make it as a wild card, so it's
kind of a I don't say it's a free game,
but it doesn't really matter for them a ton.

Speaker 3 (46:19):
So I mean, I think the Lions. What I don't
know what the spread is. I'm gonna guess is at
what Lions seven seven seven? I was gonna say four
or four.

Speaker 5 (46:27):
And a half minus seven.

Speaker 3 (46:30):
WHOA, that is high.

Speaker 1 (46:32):
But I mean maybe that's because Vegas and the betters
think what I do, which is there's not a huge
incentive for the Steelers in this game, So I do
like the Lions to win. Seven feels like a lot
of points. Jared Golf played really well last week and
I lost too. I mean they look good, just didn't
get a win.

Speaker 3 (46:49):
Are you wanting to pull the trigger on your Titans
beating the Chiefs? How are they getting beating them?

Speaker 5 (46:55):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (46:56):
What's the spread?

Speaker 5 (46:57):
It is three and a half.

Speaker 4 (47:00):
I like them covering the three and a half. Yeah,
I'll say they beat them. Titans haven't quit. They've actually
played much better since they've gone to the interim coach.
Some rookies have stepped up, some guys have gotten healthy.
They're still one of the worst teams in the league,
but they're not as embarrassing as they were in the
first half of the season.

Speaker 3 (47:16):
By the way, you know, I'm flying to New Orleans.

Speaker 1 (47:19):
I'm actually flying Monday morning and Monday night the New
Orleans Pelicans play the Dallas Mavericks, and I'm contemplating going.
Did you know you can get a sweet a full
suite for Pelicans Mavericks, which includes twelve tickets to the
game for seven hundred dollars.

Speaker 5 (47:44):
Are you affordable?

Speaker 3 (47:44):
So cheap? It's so cheap. I won't you even think
about that for a minute. A sweet? So I'm contemplating
getting the sweet and just taking.

Speaker 8 (47:54):
More eating all the chicken tenders. Yeah, just spread out,
you know. But I've never seen anything like that in
my life.

Speaker 1 (48:04):
That's I mean, can you imagine being a Pelicans ticket
uh sales rep?

Speaker 4 (48:11):
And they're kind of exciting so far this year. They
don't absolutely suck. Dallas is a good visiting team flag Yeah, yeah,
you gotta pull the pull the trigger on that.

Speaker 1 (48:21):
The reason I say that is the day before the
Saints played the Jets. I think you are a masochist.
If you do Saints Jets followed by Pelicans Mavericks, that's
gotta be And you could in the New Orleans Bowl
the next stay. Like, how many people do you do
those three sporting events back to back to back?

Speaker 3 (48:42):
You could be the only one if you go to
the Saints game. Ye.

Speaker 4 (48:45):
I don't mean that the Pelicans game is so bad
because everyone's going to the Saints game that doesn't want
to do the double hunter.

Speaker 1 (48:50):
Yeah, the day before so you can go Saints Jets, Pelicans, Maps,
Western Kentucky Southern Myss.

Speaker 3 (48:58):
Three straight knights. Wow. I think you should pull off
all Your wife would divorce you if you did. If
you did all three of those back to back.

Speaker 1 (49:07):
All right, So now it is time for our survivor league,
Drew and our out. Billy remains in somehow, but I
think it's gonna be gone now, Billy. What they do
now on these things is they start breaking them into segments.
I'm not gonna make you pick one of the two

(49:28):
games of Packers Bears Eagles Commanders to start next week.

Speaker 3 (49:33):
You will have to do that. So what who do
you got this week?

Speaker 5 (49:37):
You guys were just talking about it. I'm all in
on Tyler Shuck and the New Orleans Saints to beat
the Jets at home for me to survive. We're really
running out of teams here, so we are risking it
with the Saints. But they've played much better the last
few weeks.

Speaker 1 (49:51):
That's a dangerous pick. I'm trying to think what your
other options would even be.

Speaker 3 (49:55):
The other one I had circle Texans.

Speaker 5 (49:57):
Have you picked? Yes, I picked the Texans. I have
not picked Minnesota. I was contemplating them on the road
against the Giant.

Speaker 1 (50:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (50:05):
I wouldn't pick the at especially, And you picked the
Bills obviously.

Speaker 5 (50:10):
Right, Yes, pick the Bills.

Speaker 3 (50:14):
Yeah, I mean the Saints. That's a very risky pick.
But I guess if you picked the Broncos.

Speaker 5 (50:21):
I have not picked the Broncos, and that is the
other one.

Speaker 3 (50:23):
I think that we're going to beat the Jaguars. What's
more likely Broncos beat the Jags or Saints beat the Jets.

Speaker 5 (50:32):
Yeah, and probably the Saints just because we saw Trevor
Lawrence go for six touchdowns last week. So I mean,
I don't know what.

Speaker 3 (50:38):
You do in that situation. Drew, probably the Saints. But
have you have you used the Lions yet? Did you
listen them on teams you've used.

Speaker 5 (50:46):
I let me check.

Speaker 3 (50:49):
In the Lions. I like the Lions. They're double the
other points.

Speaker 5 (50:54):
I haven't picked Detroit.

Speaker 1 (50:55):
I like the Lions. But you've already picked the Saints.
We're not going to talk you out of I think
of those three choices, I think I would have gone
with the Lions. Okay, now we're going to pick our touchdown.
You both got one. I did not last week. So
Billy and I are tied at five. Drew has three,
is that right?

Speaker 5 (51:14):
That's correct?

Speaker 3 (51:15):
Okay, so he's two behind. Drew went first last week.

Speaker 1 (51:18):
So Billy, you get to go first, pick the position
and or pick the player in the position.

Speaker 5 (51:23):
Yeah, I'm gonna go pass catcher.

Speaker 3 (51:25):
Here.

Speaker 5 (51:25):
Can I pick tight end at my receiver spot?

Speaker 3 (51:28):
Yes?

Speaker 5 (51:28):
You can, okay, because I'm going Trey McBride. I picked
Arizona and the victory bundle for livery mutual, and Trey
McBride is clearly the best tight end in the league.
He's got ten touchdowns and over one thousand receiving yards.
Give me a little McBride for my pick.

Speaker 3 (51:42):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (51:45):
Who is the running back for the Texans? Who is
starting for them right now?

Speaker 3 (51:50):
Well?

Speaker 5 (51:50):
Nick Chubb just got hurt, and so it was the
guy they pulled off up the rookie squad, the former
running back from Louisville Jahar Jordan rush for over one
hundred yards.

Speaker 3 (51:59):
I got him at a pulse. Let me put it
in a different way.

Speaker 1 (52:04):
Whoever is the first player from the Texans to carry
the ball on a rush?

Speaker 3 (52:12):
Okay, at a running back?

Speaker 1 (52:13):
Because they play the Raiders, they're gonna score a lot.

Speaker 3 (52:16):
So whoever that is, I get that person? Is that fair?

Speaker 5 (52:22):
Sure? So that's what he marks or dare whatever the
other last name is or something a.

Speaker 3 (52:28):
Bunch of names.

Speaker 1 (52:29):
Whoever it is the first person they hand the ball to,
not CJ. Strapp, but the first person they hand the
ball to, he will then score touchdown.

Speaker 3 (52:38):
So, Billy, you have to see who the first person
is to see who it is that I got it.

Speaker 4 (52:45):
I mean, I can just can I just take a
receiver room and say you have to take a quarterback now,
So you're gonna have to pick a quarterback.

Speaker 3 (52:52):
I feel like you just made up a rule.

Speaker 1 (52:53):
Though.

Speaker 4 (52:54):
We've had to pick running backs that have like Gibbs
and Montgomery. When I picked Gibbs, I don't get Montgomery
if he carries it first.

Speaker 3 (53:00):
But I don't know these people's names.

Speaker 1 (53:02):
I feel like the fact that I don't know their
names gives me leeway.

Speaker 3 (53:06):
So you got the Houston backfield, I get one.

Speaker 1 (53:09):
I get whoever touches the bottom, who takes the first carry?

Speaker 3 (53:14):
I got hit. Okay.

Speaker 4 (53:16):
I've had quarterbacks a lot, so I think I'm out
on most of them. Who's a quarterback that runs?

Speaker 5 (53:22):
I think of bon nixt Real.

Speaker 3 (53:24):
I think I think I've used Begtown you could use
I mean, have you done May? I haven't done Drake May.

Speaker 1 (53:34):
I think Drake May is probably if you haven't taken
him yet, a pretty good pick.

Speaker 3 (53:40):
Philip Rivers.

Speaker 4 (53:42):
I consider doing that, but remember I took Max Brosmer
just two weeks ago, so I've been.

Speaker 3 (53:47):
I don't know if you can take that. I don't
think Philip Rivers is rushing.

Speaker 5 (53:50):
We give you two.

Speaker 3 (53:52):
I'll go JJ McCarthy for Billy.

Speaker 5 (53:54):
That's such a bad J McCarthy.

Speaker 1 (53:56):
So this is this is the biggest long shot of
all in the touchdown parlay, you've got who'd.

Speaker 5 (54:04):
You pick again, Billy McBride, Trey McBride.

Speaker 1 (54:08):
I think DraftKings will let you pick whatever gown Houston
gets the ball first. You think I allow that for
an official bet, I think so, and I think they do.
Or you can just wait till the first play and
then you because you can bet those live, or and
then JJ McCarthy you would get long odds for that one, Drew.

Speaker 4 (54:28):
I think, yeah, I've had a lot to pick a
lot of quarterbacks this year, and I've run out all
the running ones.

Speaker 1 (54:34):
All right, Well, thank you guys very much. I hope
everybody enjoys their week. Sunday I will actually be Louisville
and then we'll do our Christmas edition, probably with me
in New Orleans, which should be very exciting.

Speaker 5 (54:50):
Billy, Oh, absolutely, and might do it live.

Speaker 3 (54:53):
From the Pelicans game. That'd be fun. Let's do it
live during the New Orleans Bowl, live from the Pelican. Yeah,
we could do it during the New Orleans Bowl. By
the way, Southern Miss just sent me their team notes.

Speaker 1 (55:06):
Do you know that Southern Miss has the oldest player
in college football? They have a punter that's a freshman
and he's thirty.

Speaker 3 (55:14):
You're talking about him a lot. They're gonna they're gonna
be on offense.

Speaker 4 (55:19):
No, it'll be first intend for the defense, and you'll
be talking about their punter.

Speaker 3 (55:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (55:23):
He's thirty and a freshman, which means he's gonna be
thirty four his senior year of college in Hattiesburg. He's
from the Australian. Yeah, he's Australian, thirty year old freshman.
I'm requested, by the way, we request interviews. He's the
only guy with so all right, thank you folks very much.
