Speaker 1 (00:01):
One thing about this team is the invisible intangibles that
they have.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
This team is really becoming a family.
Speaker 3 (00:09):
Let's not play one on Tom.
Speaker 1 (00:10):
Let's lend it. I love writing the guys after the
shows and just thank you.
Speaker 4 (00:14):
Give me all your attention, your fire, and not a piss.
Speaker 5 (00:17):
This is world champion Dodgers, world champion thing.
Speaker 6 (00:21):
Put a small soft time to get at people what
they want.
Speaker 7 (00:23):
To die too. In a row two is special.
Speaker 6 (00:26):
I'm like, yeah, it's not a headache.
Speaker 7 (00:27):
Y'alls, last man one of a car. This ball's gone.
Speaker 8 (00:31):
You ready to go?
Speaker 9 (00:33):
Hell time go to the South.
Speaker 5 (00:35):
Grab your phone to get in on the show called
eight six six nine eighty seven two five seven. I'll
come to the show. And now your host of Dodger Talk,
David Vasse.
Speaker 10 (00:46):
We are live at Dodger Stadium after the Dodger Offense
comes to life with a twelve to six win over
the Saint Louis Cardinals. David vass with you until eleven
thirty tonight. We have phone lines open at eight six
six nine eight seven two five seventy. I guess the
Dodger offense delivered in front of a sellout crowd, so
(01:09):
no gripes tonight got a lot of empty phone lines.
If you were at Dodger Stadium tonight and we're one
of the fifty thousand that responded tonight and last night,
to give Mookie Betts an ovation, to show him the love,
to give him the support, you should call in and
congratulate yourself. Also, all the Max Mounsey haters phone lines
(01:32):
are open.
Speaker 7 (01:32):
Still.
Speaker 10 (01:33):
Can we all just agree now that Max Munsey is
the glue to the Dodger offense. Max Munsey was one
of the best hitters in Major League Baseball the forty
games before he got hurt. Do you think it's a
coincidence the Dodger lineup looks a little bit better now
(01:54):
with Max Munsey hitting cleanup or hitting fifth. It's not
a coincidence. Max Munsey's function has always been vital to
the success of the Dodgers' lineup, going back to twenty eighteen.
I'm not just saying this because Max Munsey hit two
(02:15):
home runs tonight. Max Munsey has improved as a hitter.
I agree with Dave Roberts. You can no longer call
Max Munsey a three true outcome player. He's not that guy.
He's a guy that can line singles through the right side,
he could drive pitches.
Speaker 7 (02:35):
He's clutch.
Speaker 10 (02:37):
I mean, at some point you're going to have to
concede that Max Munsey is one of the most important
hitters in this Dodger offense. While all of you were
clamoring for Nolan Aronado at every turn this offseason, at
every turn in April, every turn in May. It's time
(02:57):
to concede that Max Munsey means more to this lineup
than you will ever admit. Eight six six nine eight
seven two five seventy is the phone number. And look,
you know, I could suggest things on social media. I
could suggest things on this show to give a player
like Mookie Betts a standing ovation or chant his name.
(03:21):
But unless the Dodger fans respond and feel it organically,
it wasn't going to happen.
Speaker 7 (03:28):
And was it like Philadelphia last night?
Speaker 10 (03:31):
No, it was good though. The third inning was good tonight.
After Mookie got his double a standing ovation. He obviously
heard it. He heard it. He's very aware, and he's
somewhat fragile. He's a fragile guy, and I think that's
part of the psyche and the game that Dave Roberts
(03:52):
has to manage with him. Many of you, including Ben
Maller who follows me on a national overnight show with
Agreeman last night, that Mookie Bets needs to be put
lower in the lineup.
Speaker 7 (04:06):
Okay, that's great. Who are you gonna put second?
Speaker 11 (04:08):
Then?
Speaker 10 (04:09):
But nonetheless, if you move Mookie Bets down to sixth
or seventh, do you think that's really gonna help solve
the problem.
Speaker 7 (04:17):
I don't think it would.
Speaker 10 (04:19):
I think you have a good chance that you may
put him into a longer tailspin than it already has been.
But nonetheless, going back to the ovations, Dodger fans stepped
up and I applaud you for the way you stepped
up and gave Mooki some support that you see usually
(04:40):
on the East coast. So that was nice to see.
Let's head downstairs right now to hear from Mooki Bets,
who had three hits tonight, scored three runs and ended
in over twenty two drought.
Speaker 4 (04:53):
It's good to give results, but like you said, it's
one game, and every time we've talked about this though
went over twenty after So we'll let's see about to morning.
Speaker 6 (05:02):
We all have to see the show.
Speaker 4 (05:03):
And you know, Freddie can talk more even the usual
thing that's like, what what is some sort of times
telling you who courses today.
Speaker 6 (05:11):
I mean, it's just good to get a obviously Freddie.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
We all know who Freddy is and what he's done,
and she's just good to uh, to talk with someone
that's in the in the grinder with you. You know,
that's uh, in the day to day with you, and
you know he's just there and he's supporting me, and
I just run things by him and yeah, he's uh.
Speaker 6 (05:33):
He's always there for me and he's always been there
and I love him for that.
Speaker 9 (05:37):
You can show up for each other in so many
different ways. I know there have been times in the
past or you showed up for Freddy. But can you
just talk about the support from the team. I mean,
even whether it's long at bats the other day, the
results today, all the guys in the dugout cheering on
for you, even the fans yesterday. Can you just describe
what that's been like, feeling everyone's support during this time.
Speaker 6 (05:57):
It's been It's been a beautiful thing.
Speaker 4 (05:59):
And so I thank you to all the Dodger fans
that to have, you know, just getting that.
Speaker 6 (06:06):
I wouldn't call it ovation. But whatever it is, it's
super special.
Speaker 4 (06:10):
It's the first time I've ever gotten anything like that,
So you know, obviously I would prefer not to. But
you know, if I'm in this situation and I know
that a Dodger stadium is behind me, there's a it's
just a good thing to know that you're you're supported.
Speaker 7 (06:26):
Do you have that hard hand cloud first base?
Speaker 6 (06:28):
After that fifth ending single?
Speaker 12 (06:29):
How much of that was just seeing the results and
feeling good and getting that frustration.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
I mean, it's just that that's hitting the ball solid,
you know, just hitting the ball solid and knowing I
can do it.
Speaker 13 (06:38):
Okay, when you when you went back and bought yourself
from early in the minor leagues, like you said, is
there anything that you picked up about just like how
you how your swing worked, or your mechanics that you
applied that you think might help.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
No.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
I think it was just kind of the process of
how I kind of showed up every day and how
I kind of put it together. You know, I think
it just kind of brought back those kind of memories
and and I just try to apply it to now.
And like I said, it worked today, but we'll see tomorrow.
Speaker 10 (07:08):
All right, There you have it, Mookie Bets on sports
and at LA acknowledging he heard the ovation, the cheers,
whatever you want to call it, the last two nights
here at Dodger Stadium, and look, that can only do
so much, but certainly Mookie's a humble star, and to
have the home crowd after a long road trip that
(07:30):
saw him struggle, saw him return to the team after
his stepfather, who was close to him since he was
in fourth grade, pass away and go to his memorial
service funeral. That was a long trip for Mookie Bets
emotionally and obviously in the baseball sense. So for him
(07:50):
to come back home after, you know, sounding dejected, defeated
in Tampa, that's the genesis of where the tweet that
I sent out yesterday came from. And look, the Dodger fans,
they're the ones that had to do it. I'm not
even sure anybody saw it, but obviously some did. I
(08:11):
guess it's circulated, but it's on the Dodger fans to
make it happen organically, and they did in the Dodger Way.
Nothing's gonna be the exact same way that it is
in another city or another stadium. You do you and
the Dodgers and their fans certainly have been the best
in baseball, even though you know East Coast people fall
(08:33):
asleep too early to notice. Eight six six eight seven
two five seventy is the phone number, by the way,
Just to back up everything I was saying about Max
Munsey before he got hurt, in his last forty one games,
Max Munsey was hitting three twelve with a one thousand ops.
(08:53):
He had eleven home runs and forty three RBIs in
his last forty one games before he got hurt.
Speaker 7 (09:01):
That's not a.
Speaker 10 (09:02):
Three true come, three true outcome player.
Speaker 7 (09:07):
He's he means a lot to this lineup.
Speaker 10 (09:10):
I think it's time everybody acknowledges that. Let's go out
to Tommy in LA. You're on Dodger Talk. Lead us
off tonight, Tommy, You're on Dodger Talk.
Speaker 12 (09:19):
Hey David, a long time listener.
Speaker 11 (09:21):
I love your show.
Speaker 12 (09:23):
I want to talk about Monthsy's return. What a breath
of fresh air, man. I mean to see him go
for what four for five? I was pretty amazing.
Speaker 10 (09:34):
Yeah, that was nice. That was nice to see Mooky
deliver with three hits. It was great to see Max Munsey,
I mean, come off the il and not miss a beat.
And I thought, also, you know, lost in the shuffle
of everybody just staring at Mooki and his struggles is
tai Oscar Hernandez. He's only been hitting two twenty since
May first.
Speaker 12 (09:55):
Exactly, And you know, Monsy's return was like a you know,
a spark you know that gave you know, some motivation
of Mookie Bets. And now he hit finally, you know,
went off as slump. So hopefully you know, that's the
beginning of his you know, return of his hits, you know,
a Mookie Bets. I'm glad to see him, you know,
get get three hits today.
Speaker 10 (10:16):
All right, Tommy, thanks a lot for the phone call.
Appreciate it. Let's go out to Granada Hills.
Speaker 7 (10:20):
JD. You're on Dodger Talk. How you doing, JD?
Speaker 14 (10:25):
Hey Dave, how are you He think that the Dodgers
may regret dealing dustin May just seems like you can
never have enough pitching. And you know, I also wonder
if he may end up back here in free agency.
Speaker 7 (10:41):
Absolutely not to both. He's not coming back.
Speaker 10 (10:44):
And you know, Andrew Friedman was hoping to be in
a position where he would have a surplus of pitching
where he could trade it for, you know, help replenishing
the minor leagues or supplement something on the major league roster.
I just don't know how dust and May fit in.
Would it have been really fair to put Dustin May
on ice after him making every start this year?
Speaker 7 (11:08):
Look, injuries happen, JD. The Dodgers have.
Speaker 10 (11:11):
More than enough starting pitching to cover them even if
somebody goes down. They got Emichan, they got Justin Robleski
in the minor leagues. They got Landon Knack. I mean,
they got guys that can fill in the rest of
the regular season. And Roki Sazaki's throwing now. He says
he's gonna pitch before the end of the year. So
you got Sazaki that's not giving up on his season.
Speaker 14 (11:34):
Yeah, and on his end. I kind of don't blame
him for wanting to showcase himself as a starter if
he's heading into free agency, right.
Speaker 10 (11:42):
But if you stay on the Dodgers, you know they're
not just gonna have you showcase yourself when they got
guys like Tyler Glass now two times Cy Young winner,
Blake Snell three times Cy Young winn Cy Young Award winner,
Clayton Kershaw.
Speaker 7 (11:55):
I mean, he just didn't fit anymore.
Speaker 10 (11:57):
And I think that that's the reason why I put
it into context. Before the road trip, when he made
his last start, everybody said, oh, I want him traded.
Speaker 7 (12:07):
No, I didn't want him traded.
Speaker 10 (12:09):
But if you just take a step back, you realize
he didn't fit and there was a good chance that
that was the last time he was going to start
at Dodger Stadium.
Speaker 12 (12:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 14 (12:19):
Well, you know, these guys have a short shelf life.
I don't blame him for trying to maximize and also
I don't blame the Dodgers for, you know, needing to
unblock the logjam.
Speaker 7 (12:30):
Yeah, that's the way it goes. JD. That's uh.
Speaker 10 (12:33):
The Dodgers have stockpiled a lot of pitching and he
was a free agent at the end of the year
and unfortunately just didn't fit. I think he'll have a
great chance to flourish with Alex Cora and Andrew Bailey
in Boston.
Speaker 7 (12:47):
Thanks for the phone call, JD. Appreciate it.
Speaker 10 (12:49):
Eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy is
the phone number. Dodgers beat the Cardinals tonight twelve to six,
and talk about excess of pitching. Bobby Miller, who who
was being converted to a reliever in Oklahoma City, has
now pitched three scoreless appearances as a relief pitcher, including
tonight a scoreless sitting where he only threw six pitches
(13:14):
eight six six ninety seven two five seventy is the
phone number. Let's head downstairs right now to hear from
Max Munsey on sports and at LA.
Speaker 6 (13:24):
Yeah, it was good.
Speaker 15 (13:26):
You know, still still not moving as good as i'd
like on the defensive side, but you know it's just
it's gonna come. Getting first with third that was big
for me, and uh, you know, more importantly was getting
the slide in. You know, I think that was actually
my first slide since I got hurt. So it's good
to know that, you know, nothing's gonna break when you slide.
Speaker 12 (13:45):
I see Virsion lest at the spending still to a
good place, just especially considering how well you were swinging
it when I heard.
Speaker 15 (13:52):
Yeah, I mean, I was getting to the pitches at
the top of the zone and you know, you guys
have heard you said before that as long as I'm
doing that, I feel like it wasn't a really good spot.
Speaker 6 (14:01):
So, you know, just the pitches I was able to
hit the night, felt really good about it.
Speaker 15 (14:06):
Tweak you mentioned making during the rehab assignment after those
first couple of games. You know, it's just something that
we had seen with the data showing that my hands
were a little too far out over the plate. They
weren't returning back to the slot they needed too. And
so on the off day I had down there, I
was just putting a lot of work to try to,
you know, get those hands back to the inside. And
immediately felt much better after that coming back.
Speaker 6 (14:29):
Like, did it feel like you had missed a lot
of time? I mean, obviously, like after last year, this
is a lot shorter.
Speaker 14 (14:33):
Did it kind of feel like you could pick up
a little bit easier where you were before you got hurt.
Speaker 15 (14:40):
Well, I spent a lot of time down there, tracking
balls off the traject down there and just trying to see,
you know, as many pitches as I could, even though
I wasn't allowed to swing, so I was just looking
at as many pitches as I could, And then, you know,
I felt like that helped keep me, at least timing wise,
in a similar spot. And you know, you never know
until you get back out there, so It's just I
tried to do everything I could to keep things closer,
(15:02):
and you know, unlike last year where I couldn't rotate
at all, you know, it was a little bit easier
this year to make that return.
Speaker 10 (15:09):
All right, there's Max Munsey on sports Net LA after
homers twice in his second game back off the injured list.
Speaker 7 (15:17):
Also huge for the Dodgers.
Speaker 10 (15:19):
To see signs of life from Taoscar Hernandez, who did
well in Boston. He is one of the best hitters
at Fenway Park, but after that on the road trip,
it was back to kind of a slumping Taoscar Hernandez.
So great to see him double to lead off the
eighth inning last night, and then tonight comes back with
(15:39):
two home runs and a double. That was Taoscar Hernandez's
first home run tonight at Dodgers Stadium since June twenty
first eight six six, nine, eight seven, two five seventy
is the phone number. Let's go out to Kate and Torrence.
You're on Dodger Talk Live from the stadium.
Speaker 3 (15:58):
Hi, Kate, Hi, thanks for taking my call, my pleasure.
Oh okay, yeah, I just wanted a shout out to
Max Mounsey coming back and just being Max Monthly. I've
been a fan of his since he got here to
(16:18):
the Dodgers, and you know, well you hear a lot
about you know, the top three in the lineup. They
have to perform, they have to perform, They have to perform,
you know, and they they did tonight. It's great to
see Mookie back. But when you have Max Monthy and
Tioscar stepping up, that's when the Dodgers become unstoppable.
Speaker 10 (16:43):
Yeah, it makes the lineup really tough to pitch around.
And Monsey takes pitches. There's a lot of guys hitting
in front of him that are aggressive early in the
count and that's who they are and that's their function
and the Dodger lineup. But Monsey's function is to slow
things down, to take pitches. And you know, obviously he's
a threat to produce and that's what matters. But he
(17:05):
does different things in the lineup that makes it tougher
on the opposing pitcher. Thanks for calling, Kate. We'll check
in with you hopefully another time. Eight sixty six, nine
eighty seven two five seventy is the phone number. We're
gonna take a time out here on Dodger Talk. We
have lines open at eight, six, six, nine eighty seven,
two five seventy. We'll take more phone calls and we'll
(17:26):
let you hear about the Padres new shiny toy not
so shiny tonight in the desert, and Jose Mota will
check in as well. After the Dodgers beat the Cardinals
tonight twelve to six on a five to seventy LA sports.
Speaker 5 (17:47):
Se Dodger Talk is available on AM five seventy LA
sports dot com, hand on the iHeartRadio app. Back to
more Dodger Talk with Dodger insider David basse.
Speaker 7 (17:59):
Let's play ball on AMPM. Too much good stuff. Box
swams hits a drive right center field. That's ball back.
Speaker 4 (18:06):
That is god.
Speaker 7 (18:07):
He's done it again. Two home runs on the night
for Monsely and.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
The Dodgers lead at four to two.
Speaker 10 (18:16):
Boy, he's got that home run strove back, that funky
Munsey back in the Dodger lineup. Hitting two home runs tonight,
driving in four runs. He and Tioscar Hernandez become the
first pair of Dodgers to have multi home run games
in the same game since twenty twenty three, and Max
(18:38):
Munsey was part of that one at Wrigley Field with
James Autman. That's right, James Outman and Max Munsey each
hit two home runs in April twenty three at Wrigley Field.
Dodgers beat the Cardinals tonight twelve to six. We want
to remind you that Daniels Julius presents the home run forecast.
Go to AM five seventy lasports dot com use the
(19:00):
keyword home run for your chance to win a fifty
dollars Daniels Jeweler's gift card predicting the number of home
runs in the very next game. Daniels Jewelers owned the
dream eight six, six, nine to eighty seven. Two five
seventy is the phone number. The Dodgers maintain a three
game lead in the division because the Padres were able
(19:23):
to pull off a win in the Desert against the
Diamondbacks ten to five and eleven innings, and everybody was
saying the Padres are unbeatable. They've got an incredible bullpen,
flawless bullpen, They'll never cough up a game the rest
of the year on the way to the World Series. Well,
(19:44):
the bottom of the eighth inning tonight, with the Padres
leading by two runs, lordis Guriel faced Mason Miller and
turned around what was clocked at one hundred and four
miles an hour.
Speaker 8 (19:58):
Speaking a ball left beid looking up is Loriano. This
one is gone, two run home run for lord as
Uriel Junior, his second out the night, and the Diamondbacks
decided here in the bottom half of the eighth inning,
HiT's five five.
Speaker 10 (20:16):
Oops, Mason Miller giving up a game tyme two run
home run, and the Padres were lucky to win an
eleven innings. But I guess that's not the script the
Padres had and Major League Baseball had when they started
again starting the parade a little too soon. Yes, Mason
(20:40):
Miller is human. Eight six six seven two five seventy
is the phone number. Let's go out to France. Bill,
are you in France right now listening to Dodger Talk?
Speaker 1 (20:52):
I am, indeed, David, Good morning to you at eight o'clock.
The sun has just been coming up.
Speaker 7 (20:59):
That is wild Bill. You are blowing my mind right now.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
Well listen, David, I'm retired now. I've lived in overseas
in Europe for many years. I'm a Dodger fan since
I was a little boy in fifty eight and I
was sitting in the stands at Game four of nineteen
sixty three World Series to see Sandy out do a
Whitey Ford. So even though you're far away, when you
(21:24):
got the Dodger blue and your blood, you still follow
the game.
Speaker 7 (21:29):
That's amazing.
Speaker 10 (21:30):
So you have the MLB TV package and you watch
it on your tablet.
Speaker 7 (21:34):
I assume, well, I don't know if I can say this.
Speaker 1 (21:38):
I actually I stream it on European channels that show
the games, and then I follow it on a if
I can put in a little pluge here for a
Facebook a Facebook group called Dodgers United, which unites me
with fans back all across the States. Actually, because the
Dodgers are everywhere, and that's how I keep track of
(22:01):
the games. It's a lot of sleepless nights because you know,
a home game for me starts at four o'clock in
the morning.
Speaker 7 (22:09):
But you know, yeah, but you're retired.
Speaker 10 (22:12):
You don't have to go anywhere unless you're going to
the Eiffel Tower every day.
Speaker 1 (22:17):
Exactly. Well, I live out in the country fortunately, and
and yeah, you know my way.
Speaker 10 (22:26):
You're gonna you know, if the Dodgers win the World
Series again, Bill, You're gonna send us some French wine.
Speaker 1 (22:33):
You know, David, I would, but the tariffs are too high.
Speaker 10 (22:39):
All right, Bill, Well, thank you for listening and keep
us locked in on the iHeartRadio app. Really cool of
you to be listening and following the Dodgers as closely
as you do living in France. So enjoy the countryside
and call back anytime.
Speaker 1 (22:55):
Thank you, David, Thanks for taking my call. And good
evening to you.
Speaker 7 (23:00):
Yeah, my pleasure.
Speaker 10 (23:01):
Good morning to you, Bill, Thank you eight six six
nine eight seven two five seventy. I mean that just
shows you the reach and just proves once again there's
no such thing as a local broadcast anymore. Uh that, Bill,
and France is listening to games. People all over the
world are listening to Dodger games and have been for
(23:22):
a very long time, but especially now with show. Hey
Otani on the team, and you know you can download
the iHeartRadio app anywhere and have Dodger Talk as your
preset anywhere. You can stream the shows anywhere. Yes, we
emphasize on LA. This is LA, this is the Dodgers,
but everybody is listening, everybody is watching. Let's go out
(23:44):
to Baldwin Park, Victor, you're on Dodger talk. How you doing, Victor?
I mean, gosh, I have to go all the way
from Paris to Baldwin Park, you know, uh, you know
Paris is Uh, you know Paris, but I love Baldwin Park.
Speaker 11 (23:57):
That's a pretty long trip from Paris, right, anyway, say
nice talking to you. I just wanted to say that
I was at the Angel game tonight, and so like
I was at an old minor leagu Dodger game. Pepio
pitching for Douche catching the Luca and Sandler Lea Garcia
came for a cleaning into the Angels, and of course
you know Jenson sitting up there. But anyway feels exactly
(24:22):
you know, nic seeing them thrive over there. But you know,
there's only so many roster spots here, right. My question
is what's gonna happen when Tommy, Edmond and Kim get healthy.
Now that Call and Freeland were at it. You know,
the team looks good right now with them, but someone's
gonna be autumn out right.
Speaker 10 (24:43):
Yeah, well number one Tommy Edmund needs to get healthy
and he's got to figure it out before the playoffs
with that right ankle. But right now, if you if
you said Kim and Edmund are coming off the IL tomorrow.
The two guys that would be off were it's Stereos
Ruiz and Alex Friedland. Freeland would be optioned and Ruise
(25:06):
I'm not sure if he has options left, but those
to me would be the two odd men out if
you told me tomorrow they're coming back, which they're not.
Kim is feeling a lot better. He told me that
his left shoulder is feeling extremely better. So uh yeah,
right now, those would be the two guys.
Speaker 11 (25:26):
Hopefully it's sooner there.
Speaker 10 (25:28):
But you know, why are you that emotionally attached to
with Stereos Ruiz, Victor? You just grumbled at me. I mean,
are you that emotionally attached to him?
Speaker 11 (25:37):
That's free? Maybe be Dave ROBERTSILMBA sitation someday, you never know.
Speaker 7 (25:43):
Kim's pretty fascinat though, Victor. Okay, thank you for the
phone call. Appreciate it.
Speaker 10 (25:48):

Speaker 7 (26:21):
And we're brought to you by real.
Speaker 10 (26:23):
Money Transfer located inside Superior Grocer's Money where.
Speaker 7 (26:28):
You need it.
Speaker 5 (26:30):
It's time to go around the horn with Jose Mota.
Speaker 10 (26:35):
All right, Jose Mota, the vibes are a lot different
tonight than they were last night.
Speaker 7 (26:40):
Let's start with Mookie Betts.
Speaker 10 (26:42):
He is he back or do we have to wait
until we see tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (26:48):
Let's keep waiting until what we see tomorrow, because at
least it's encouraging to see. It was great together results.
It was outstanding because no matter how they come, it
could be a bluepit, it could be a squibbler ball
off the end of the bat. When you get resolves,
he's like, the relief is there. He broke that ozer
for twenty one. But the most impressive of bat for
me is the fact that Muki Bets is struggling so
(27:10):
bad he needs to get basis. In the first inning,
he goes after and takes his swing that moves Shohail
Tani from second to third. He could have pulled that pitch,
he says right through the box. It's a six' to,
Three and that pretty much set the tone for the entire.
Game so that is pulling. Baseball and For Muki, bets
the baseball got barter him because we hit that first.
Speaker 10 (27:31):
Name i'm Glad Mookie betts brought Up Freddy freeman Because
i'm not Sure Freddy freeman gets enough credit to pull
himself out of what was a two month slump and
here he is turning it around in the last twelve
to fifteen. Games that's a, Fighter. Jose, Obviously freddy knows
himself really, Well But i'm not sure we Give Freddy
(27:53):
freeman enough credit to pull himself out of what was
a big time tail.
Speaker 2 (27:58):
Spin, No freddie does it without having ask or begging
for an off, Day let me watch a game From,
afar let me get some extra, Work none of.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
That he.
Speaker 2 (28:07):
Knows he comes from that school with The braves and
The Bobby cox school of if you're, struggling the only
Way i'm going to get you out of that is
by playing you and by exposing, you and you're trying
to figure it. Out you have all those sources and
help you can, have you. Know Bobby cox went back
to that with The braves when he had relievers, struggled
Like i'm going to get you out of that fun
by pitching. You, sorry there's no day for the whole
(28:29):
point you get it. Done so he comes to that
schooling that tells you you are disciplined, enough you work smartly,
enough you're diligent and with all the things you have
in mind right now in, hand the video and biometrics
and all the things that tell you if you're, swinging
if you're, dumping if you're, lunging pay selection decisions in
the batter's, Box freddy knows are, there but he keeps
it quite. Simple that's a beauty of. It this whole
(28:50):
Thing i'm guaranteeing to any conversation With bookivez is not
about anything too technical that he's not going to understand
speaking a simple, language but also encouraging a teammate that's
part of the culture, too that you, know guy Like,
freddy as he, mentioned does not get the credit for
but more than one player young and veteran, SAID i
just watch number, five see what he, does and whenever
(29:11):
he comes to, ME i listen BECAUSE i know he's
been studying. Me and that says a lot about the
person Named Freddy.
Speaker 7 (29:16):
Freeman Jose mote is joining.
Speaker 10 (29:19):
Us after The dodgers beat The cardinals tonight twelve to,
Six Max munsey and Ta Oscar hernandez each of two
home runs, TONIGHT i asked him last night if there
was some hope for Ta oscar after that leadoff double
in the eighth. INNING i guess there was more than hope.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
Tonight, Yeah AND i mentioned that To oscar had mentioned
to me that he wanted a stronger, base just with his,
legs to make sure that he is not lunging at
the baseball as. Much we saw it again, today much.
Simpler just pick it up your foot and swing the
bat leve le, ball travel a little bit more and be.
Confident so hopefully this will get him going because he needs.
It and just the fact that day that he's driving
(29:56):
the baseball is a sign that perhaps he's found something
with his leg with that base that he's going to
give him something to look forward to and then on
top of that is driving the ball to the big part
of the, field which to him is obviously quite, big
as it is for any top of hitter that goes
through slumps like he.
Speaker 10 (30:11):
DOES i, mean we haven't seen this from Tai Oscar
hernandez in a long.
Speaker 7 (30:16):
Time.
Speaker 10 (30:16):
Jose it's been Since june twenty first since he hit
a home run At Dodger stadium that was a site
for sore. Eyes and he's as important as anybody in
This dodger lineup to.
Speaker 2 (30:28):
Deliver, yes he, is and Ta oscar will watch the.
Spotlight we know how big he was last year With
knight and Ow, RBIs and how many times when other
guys were scuffling it was, like here Comes tail with two,
outs two, Strikes he's going to just go out there
and put the ball in. Play we know what he's
capable of. DOING i know the league knows a lot
about when he's scuffling and where they need to go
to fund the weak. Spots BUT i think till as
(30:50):
a player has played through you know games That matt
a lot here towards the end of the season now
with forty eight games to go to know that as
the league compiles, information he also has to be smart
enough to use the same thing and apply that information
and just keep the game at a point where he
can manage the. Zone is pretty much all he can
do as a hitter like he is without worrying about
the power because strong guys don't need to worry about.
(31:10):
That if you make good contact and think line drives
is gonna. Happen and hopefully he's in that mode now
where everything start from the bottom line drives through the.
Infield but those line, drives IF i carry enough and
say in sell the, ball they're gonna have some. Batsmen
and there are some basis in the same time, too
is getting that basit the other way when he needs
to just go out there and punch them all the
other way to spoil the pitch and get you a
(31:31):
big run when it. Matters BEFORE i let.
Speaker 10 (31:34):
You, Go, JOSE i talked about What Max munsey meant
to this, Lineup but those that watch the games like
you do every single, night understand what he does in
the batter's. Box is it too much of a stretch
to call him the glue of this? Lineup after what
we saw when he went out and what we've seen
tonight and yesterday as.
Speaker 7 (31:55):
Well never at, all.
Speaker 2 (31:57):
Never never Stretch. Max what hit lists in The World?
Series they, won and you See Max. Munsey that's the
way he is able to force guys into throwing pitches
perhaps that are not ready to, throw because he prolongs at.
Bats and Now Max, bunsey the guy that sometimes in
batting practice will take a mentality of getting, singles understands
(32:20):
how big he. Is And dave for all the people
who didn't want him around, here he is powerless, culture it's.
Work seems he's been here and he understands what it
does to the whole. Team when he's doing what he,
does he can prolong an. Inning he can kind of
be the bridge from the top to the bottom of
the lineup and helping guys in front of them and
behind him even more because they see the way guys
(32:41):
are approaching. Him rights are lefties on relief, points on,
approaches on, velocity and that tells you a whole lot
that you cannot put a price on that because what he,
does he does it so quietly and. Somesony we put
a value on hits or home runs and exact. That but,
man sometimes a walk For Max mounsey or a long
at bat even after a strakeout means lots of the
guys hitting behind. Him and also the guy on the.
(33:02):
Mount did he just wore out with six or seven,
Pitches no.
Speaker 10 (33:06):
Doubt that's the function Of Max, munsey that Funky. Monsey,
jose thanks a lot for checking in if You if
you want a standing ovation, tomorrow let me.
