Speaker 1 (00:01):
One thing about this gene is the invisible and tangibles
that they have.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
This team is really becoming a family. Let's not play
one on Tom.
Speaker 3 (00:10):
Let's wind it.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
I love writing these guys after the show, just thank you,
give me are.
Speaker 4 (00:15):
Your attention, your fire and not a pisson.
Speaker 5 (00:17):
This is world champion, Dodger, world champion.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Thing he put a.
Speaker 5 (00:21):
Small soft time they get up people what they want to.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
Die to in a row two is special.
Speaker 4 (00:26):
I'm like, yeah, it's not a headache one of a con.
This ball's gone. You ready to go to the grab
your phone.
Speaker 5 (00:36):
To get in on the show called eight six six
nine eighty seven two five seven.
Speaker 4 (00:40):
And go to the show.
Speaker 5 (00:41):
And now your host of Dodger Talk, David Bassay.
Speaker 6 (00:47):
We are live at Dodger Stadium after a marquee Hall
of Fame matchup tonight, Clayton Kershaw beats Max Scherzer. The
Dodgers beat the Blue Jays five to one. On David
Vassey with you until eleven o'clock live from Dodgers Stadium.
We have phone lines open at eight six six nine,
(01:07):
eight seven two five seventy.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
We will get to Mookie Beds in a moment.
Speaker 6 (01:12):
We will get to Jose Mota at ten forty five tonight.
We'll get to what the Red Sox did to help
the Dodgers tonight, but we just had a very cool
scene out here at Dodger Stadium. My understanding from what
I've been told is this was Max Scherzer's idea. And
you can check out the photo on the Toronto Blue
(01:33):
Jays Twitter page and I'm sure Instagram as well. But
Max Scherzer wanted to swap jerseys with Clayton Kershaw.
Speaker 4 (01:42):
Kershaw went into the Blue Jays.
Speaker 6 (01:44):
Dugout and Kershaw gave him his home jersey. Scherzer gave
Kershaw his road Blue Jays jersey, And I'm going to
read to you what Kershaw wrote to Scherzer on the
jersey he autographed for him to two sures an honor
to compete against you. As far as what Scherzer wrote
(02:05):
to Clayton Kershaw quote, You're an all time competitor. So
how about that two guys with mutual respect for each other,
swapping jerseys, autographing them and having a message that I
think we can all agree with from both guys. So
pretty cool scene out here at Dodger Stadium after he had.
Both guys pitched their butts off at this stage of
(02:28):
their careers, and they're both ultimate competitors. Kershaw obviously has
the purity of the game in his heart. He will
pitch whenever asked for his team. Surezer great pitcher, too
great pitcher two. Both guys headed to the Hall of Fame,
both guys with three Cy Young Awards. Kershaw the distinction
(02:49):
of being a pitcher that won the MVP in twenty fourteen.
But really the difference in the game tonight was Mookie
Betts and his go ahead two run home run. And
what again for Mookie Betts?
Speaker 3 (03:01):
Right?
Speaker 6 (03:01):
I feel like this was Mooki Betts's best game since
maybe Opening Day against the Tigers when he hit a
walk off home run. Not only did Mooki drive in
three runs tonight, not only did Mooky have a go
ahead two run home run. We have not seen the
ball come off Mookie's bet that way in a very
long time, but that was vintage Mookie Betts. And he
(03:24):
also made a great play in the second inning to
really change the complexion of this game. Bases loaded one out.
I know it's the nine hitter, Miles Straw, but Miles straw.
Speaker 4 (03:37):
Is a pretty good hitter. He's a two to sixty
hitter in the.
Speaker 6 (03:40):
Nine hole, and he had a shot in the hole
at shortstop and Mooki was there. Great positioning by the
Dodgers to have Mooki there, but he still had to
die for it and started an inning ending double play.
So as much as this game was about Kershawn Schurzer,
Mookie Betts was the player of the game. Tonight eight six, six, nine, seven,
(04:01):
two five seventy is the phone number. Let's head downstairs
right now to hear from Clayton Kershaw on sports net LA.
Speaker 7 (04:08):
I mean, obviously pitching insurance, you know you're gonna have
a battle on your hands. He threw the ball really
well tonight. Ball's coming out really well. All the guys
are sayings fastball still has a lot of jump to it,
so you know, it's not lost on me. I think
it's really cool that, you know, sure As was the
guy right before me to get to three thousand and
and you know, I got to play with him, got
to compete against him basically our whole careers. So I
(04:31):
think I think it is really cool that we got
to do this in our first year and I don't
know if it's our last year, but towards the end
for sure.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
So it's uh, it's it's been.
Speaker 7 (04:40):
It's been a fun ride to getting to watch him
and Verlander and to get to compete against.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
Him, and it was a lot of fun.
Speaker 7 (04:45):
And he's still doing it. I think he's way older
than me. He's like forty one, so he's way older.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
He got you by a few years for sure.
Speaker 8 (04:52):
But just how you were able to kind of get
through this outing, what.
Speaker 5 (04:54):
Was the focus for you and how you were able
to get through there relatively quite efficiently.
Speaker 7 (04:58):
Actually, yeah, they swing the best well, not a lot
of strikeouts and not a lot of walks. You know,
they put the ball and play a lot of singles tonight. Honestly,
if I could get lefties out, would have been in
a much better spot, you know, the big big swing
SNI from the lefties. So and then honestly, Mookie making
that double play in the second kind of really got
me going, you know, the second and could have gotten
out of hand there. So for Mook to make that play,
(05:20):
get me out of that, you know, keep my pitch
coming down, able to get through six. And then obviously
in the Homer two is big knight for Mouke, which
is awesome to see.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
Obviously, charity as it is, but for you, sure as
or Verlanders like this feel.
Speaker 7 (05:32):
Like you guys have been kind of attached for a
while the last couple of decades.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
Yeah, I mean, yes, and no, I think.
Speaker 7 (05:40):
I think as we've gotten older, you know, you start
to see you know, other people, you know, maybe retire
that we played against a lot and you know Verlanders
before Sures and I both you know, so he's been
doing it a lot longer, both of us.
Speaker 3 (05:52):
So.
Speaker 7 (05:53):
But at the end of the day, it's it's fun
to get to compete against guys like that and have
a lot of respect for both those guys. It's always
fun to see, you know, what they're doing across the league,
getting to see how they're competing, how they're doing, and.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
You know, fun to come out on top tonight for sure.
Speaker 8 (06:10):
Any part of a match up, I mean, because I'm
part of the match you guys like both pitching the
first place.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
Teams or frond the season, you know where, it's just
there's still a lot of importance into it, obviously that
you guys are to pitch as well. Yeah, it's always
fun to pitch or something, you know.
Speaker 7 (06:26):
I mean, I've I've been super spoiled here that you know,
every year.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
It's just it's just what you do.
Speaker 7 (06:31):
You know you're gonna go to the postseason or be
close to it, and you know, I've done that every year,
you know, other than a couple, my whole my whole career.
So it's it's always fun to get to do that.
And I know Sure has been that way too a
lot of times. So I think that's both that's what
makes us keep at least what makes me keep going.
I'm sure Sure is the same way that you know,
getting to you know, be a part of October is
(06:53):
is really special, and hopefully we can be a part
of that.
Speaker 6 (06:58):
There's Clayton Kurrash on sports Net LA and cool to
hear him just be as open as he is to
be able to reflect on games like this, because he
would not do that in years past, So that just
shows you where he's at. There's no guarantees he's pitching
next year, and I wouldn't say I would rule it
out either, but for him to have that type of
(07:20):
perspective and reflect on the context of tonight says that
his headspace isn't a different spot than it was even
three years ago.
Speaker 4 (07:30):
Eight six six.
Speaker 6 (07:31):
Nine, eight seven two five seventy is the phone number.
These are two first place teams, the Blue Jays overtaking
the Yankees in the Al East. They are three games
ahead of the Red Sox. Now the Dodgers, with the
win tonight, sixty seven and forty nine, three games ahead
of the San Diego Padres. After the Red Sox took
(07:53):
care of the Padres in San Diego tonight.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
Here's the pitch.
Speaker 5 (07:57):
Brave you swings Hammerson right center, filled it deep.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
It is gone.
Speaker 4 (08:03):
To run tank. Will you're a bray you off?
Speaker 5 (08:07):
Nick Paveta had its four nothing Red Sox in the.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
Fourth, Well, there you go.
Speaker 5 (08:13):
He knew the curveball was coming, he sat on it,
and he absolutely murdered it.
Speaker 6 (08:21):
The Red Sox take care of the Padres in San
Diego tonight, beating San Diego ten to two. Not only
did the Red Sox score ten runs, but Walker Buehler
helping out the Dodgers tonight with maybe his best performance
of the season. Six scoreless sittings for Walker Buehler tonight,
with four strikeouts and two walks, so Walker Buehler dealing
(08:46):
at Peco Park tonight to help the Dodgers, and Alex
Korra certainly smiling that the Dodgers could help out the
Red Sox. I'm sure Walker Buehler is really happy that
his former teammates could help out Boston because Boston now
just three games back of Toronto in the Al East,
while the Dodgers are able to expand their lead over
San Diego to three games tonight. Eight six six nine
(09:09):
eight seven two five seventy is the phone number.
Speaker 4 (09:12):
Let's go out to Eric and Hollywood. You're on Dodger Talk.
How you doing?
Speaker 2 (09:16):
Eric, Dodger dis shit? Yo, Wow, that is Dodger baseball
cursh dealing. That's coming to live ah mad shout out
to Mamba eight eight Dodger Nation. Misses you very very much. Man,
much love to you. Mamba. Uh mooke he that swing
(09:40):
is in order. He looks good. Great to beat Matt Max.
And like I was telling Colin, then I'm not gonna
forget when Mad Max had a dead arm and all that.
That's another story or whatever, but I'm glad he hit
a two run home run off of him. Yo, I'm
a little worried about bajes Yo DV. Is he getting
out of this front or what's the going on?
Speaker 6 (10:02):
Yeah, I mean maybe the hitting is starting to bleed
into the base running a little bit. But yeah, I
don't think Pahz is somebody to be concerned about.
Speaker 4 (10:10):
Eric.
Speaker 6 (10:11):
I think you should be happy that you got the
game for Mookie Bets that you got tonight, because if
Mooki is back, that's a huge turn of events for
the Dodgers down the stretch.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
I don't know, Bro, I think Conforto is not going
to come around. And I have been with you the
whole way, like he's been hitting hard and all that.
I don't think he's coming around. Who's the new guy
we just got? Just you got game?
Speaker 4 (10:40):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (10:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (10:41):
They just called up a new kid from the minor league,
sending down new stereos Ruiz.
Speaker 4 (10:46):
His name is Justin Dean. He's a twenty eight year
old outfielder.
Speaker 6 (10:49):
Made his major league debut tonight, caught the last out
in center field.
Speaker 4 (10:54):
He's very good defensively.
Speaker 6 (10:56):
The difference and why the Dodgers decided to option Ruiz
and call of Dean is because Ruiz isn't a good
outfielder doesn't have a strong arm. So you saw what
the Dodgers did tonight. They slid Piez to right field
and had Dean h in center field. So that makes
a lot more sense for the Dodgers when they decide
(11:17):
to pinch run or try to get a better outfield.
They had Alex Call in this game. They had Piez
and right field, they had Call in left field, and
they had Dean in center to really give them a
better defensive outfield tonight to end the game. Eight six, six,
seven two five seventy is the phone number. Let's go
out to James in North Hollywood. You're on Dodger Talk.
(11:39):
How you doing, James doing great?
Speaker 8 (11:42):
Man?
Speaker 1 (11:43):
What a great win? I mean, it's great all around
for all the reasons you said, the Red Sox knocking
down the Padres and us taking care of business tonight.
My question for you is on Kershaw. He was at
like seventy three pitches at you know, through six.
Speaker 3 (12:01):
Now.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
I understand that we want him strong for the postseason,
but my first question is, you know, why not let
him go out and see if he has a clean
seventh just because of the bullpen being overworked, and I
know we got some guys coming back, but that's one thing.
But all in all, a great win. Great to see
(12:22):
Mookie delivering like Mookie can do.
Speaker 4 (12:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (12:27):
Well, at that point in time when Kershaw finished the
sixth inning, it was a two to one game. I mean, Kershaw,
they want to keep him healthy the rest of the year.
Speaker 4 (12:37):
I know he's pitching great.
Speaker 6 (12:38):
It's more about the up and downs being in the
dugout than going back out to the mound. He did
more than his job tonight, going six innings allowing just
one run. So I think at this stage of his career, James,
there's nothing about Kershaw fighting to go back out there
for the seventh inning that makes sense.
Speaker 4 (12:56):
In August, the.
Speaker 6 (12:58):
Dodger bullpen more than to be able to hold that lead.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
I think that's really fair for sure. And then regarding Moki,
I've seen the metrics on him and like his approach
to the plate is super solid. Right, He's not chasing
bad balls, you know, he's doing all the good things right,
But his bat speed, which has never been his forte
(13:26):
but his bat speed, his barrel ray, his power, all
that isn't quite as good. And I'm stoked to see
Mookie looking more like Mookie.
Speaker 6 (13:37):
But we'll start tracking it after tonight, James, because there's
not much he can do about what's taken place up
to this point. John Hayman reported that he even connected
with JD.
Speaker 4 (13:50):
Martinez when the team was in Florida.
Speaker 6 (13:53):
That's kind of the guy that MOOKI has leaned on
in years past, going back to Boston. So I'm sure
hearing that voice made a difference for him. And you
heard Mooky after the game talk about his wife. But
there there's mechanical adjustments that you can do to bring
back some of that bat speed. And when you're evolving
at thirty two years old and you're slumping, sometimes you
(14:15):
have to eliminate some hitches in your swing. And I
thought tonight we saw a more direct path to the
baseball by Mookie, which allowed him to hit that two
run home run.
Speaker 8 (14:26):
I agree with.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
That wholeheartedly, man, But.
Speaker 4 (14:32):
You got more from me? What else? What else?
Speaker 1 (14:36):
Can you shed some light between the conversations that he
and Freddie have been having because I've been seeing him
on TV, I've been hearing the announcers talk about it.
What kind of counts it? Because Freddie when he gets
into a slump it's short, he gets out of it.
Freddy just seems to be I mean, if there's any
Dodger I want when the game is on the line
up at the plate, it's going to be Freddie Freeman
(14:57):
because whatever the situation is, he has the bat control
to do that and make that happen. Can you shed
any light between the conversations of between Freddy and MOOKI.
Speaker 6 (15:12):
I don't know the details of their conversations, but Freddie's
a keep it simple type of guy, so I'm sure
he's telling Mookie keep it simple. Thanks for the phone call, James.
You do that too in life. Your life will be
a lot better. Hey, By the way, tomorrow, I got
good life plans for you to keep it simple. You
can take your picture with world champion Miguel Rojas tomorrow
(15:32):
from eleven to noon at Real Money Transfer inside the
Superior Grocers in Huntington Park, located at sixty ten Pacific Boulevard.
If you show up early enough, you'll be able to
watch me host Dodger Talk in person from ten to noon.
Miguel is going to join us at ten thirty on
the show, So if you're driving around tomorrow morning, you
(15:56):
can listen to a special Saturday morning edition of Dodger
Talk from ten to noon. If you're in the Huntington
Park area, come by and see Miguel Rojas see us
do the show. You'll have a chance to win Dodger ticket,
Superior Grocer, gift cards and more, brought to you by
real Money Transfer located in that Superior Grocer's money where
(16:18):
you need it. Eight six six nine eight seven two
five seventy is the phone number. Look, you know, when
it comes to Mookie Bets, I mean, he has done
a lot mechanically and put in a lot of work,
but tonight it just seemed like a better swing. And
like I said, John Hayman reported that Mookie Bets sought
(16:38):
out JD. Martinez when the team was in Tampa last week.
That's true, he did, But I could tell you this,
at least one of those guys is not very happy
that it got out there publicly.
Speaker 4 (16:50):
But what I could tell you.
Speaker 6 (16:52):
Is that JD Martinez, he's a hitting savanna as well,
and nobody knows Mooki's swing better than Mooki than JD. Martin,
So there was a reason why Mooki sought him out.
So hopefully tonight was the start of new things to come.
And you heard MOOKI say his wife helped clear his
head and just keep his confidence up. And all these
(17:13):
things mesh in to a superstar that, honestly I feel
had hit rock bottom rick rock bottom as a baseball player.
I mean two thirty, two thirty five. When's the last
time Mookie Betts was hitting two thirty five in the
month of August in his great career. The answer is never.
(17:34):
So at some point you got to be a little
bit more open to adjustments and trust your coaches, trust
your teammates, trust a guy like JD. Martinez eight six
six nine eight seven two five seventy. Kershaw beat Scherzer
tonight five to one at Dodgers Stadium in front of
a sellout crowd of fifty three thousand, eight hundred and
(17:55):
twenty five. The Dodgers now over the three million mark
here at Dodgers Stadium. As far as fan attendance, the
Dodgers thank you and understand without you, there is none
of this. Because we all remember twenty twenty, these guys
could play the greatest games of their life. If there's
nobody here doesn't mean a lot. Let's go out to
(18:17):
Bob who is at Dodger Stadium tonight. Hi, Bob, You're
on Dodger Talk DV.
Speaker 8 (18:23):
Great to be on with you.
Speaker 9 (18:24):
Man.
Speaker 10 (18:25):
I was at the game with my son Lenny tonight men,
and of course Kobe Bryant, Bobblehead, and I brought the
MoMA mentality out for the Dodgers. It was big to
be out there tonight, man, to celebrate the legacy. But
I felt like I was a part of something. With
the fifty three thousand other people there to see Schuzer
and Kershaw, two legends, potential Hall of famers out there
(18:47):
battling tonight, that was special.
Speaker 1 (18:49):
Man.
Speaker 9 (18:50):
I felt like we were part of.
Speaker 4 (18:51):
Something, definitely.
Speaker 6 (18:53):
And I was talking to Alex Vesia before the game
and just telling him about the historical context of the
matchup tonight, and he said, man, it's like we're part
of history every single night out here.
Speaker 4 (19:05):
And he's right.
Speaker 6 (19:06):
And you know, I think we all take it for
granted how special the show at Dodger Stadium is with Otani,
with Freddie Freeman, with Mookie Betts, with Clayton Kershaw. I mean,
every night something special can occur. And I just think
back to what Charlie Steiner told me a few years back,
you coming to Dodger Stadium tonight, Bob, is not just
(19:29):
coming to another baseball game.
Speaker 4 (19:31):
It's an event. And I think we can all agree
with that.
Speaker 6 (19:34):
When you come to Dodger Stadium now, it's not just
a baseball game.
Speaker 4 (19:38):
They have made it an.
Speaker 9 (19:39):
Event, absolutely, and the Dodgers' organization makes you feel like that,
and you realize that when you're there. But look at all,
just just this season alone, look at the special moments
we've all been fortunate enough to be a part of.
Some of us that have been there for Kershaw three thousand,
nice like tonight that you see, he's your special events man,
So there's no doubt about it. I felt like I
was fortunate to be there, man, and I'm forever grateful
(20:02):
to be able to see legends like Kersh.
Speaker 8 (20:04):
You know, for as long as they want to go, man.
Speaker 9 (20:06):
I'll always be there to support.
Speaker 8 (20:08):
But it was great to see him.
Speaker 10 (20:09):
I want to get one more shout out tonight to
Alex Freelament. Great game on that kid's part tonight. It
was great to have him out there making those plays.
Speaker 1 (20:16):
Great defense.
Speaker 6 (20:17):
Yeah, great bounce back game for Alex Freeland, who had
a rough one on Wednesday. For him to make that
over the shoulder catch in the fifth inning to rob
Ernie Clement and end the inning, that was a great
play and I think everybody appreciated it.
Speaker 4 (20:34):
Hey, speaking of.
Speaker 6 (20:35):
Young kids, our very own Eric Carros, the all time
LA Dodger home run king, has two sons in professional baseball.
As you know, Jered Carros is a pitcher for the
Dodgers at Double A, but his other son, Kyle, is
in the Rockies organization and today made his major league
debut for the Rockies, playing third base. He got the
(20:58):
start at third base tonight. The Rockies were in Arizona
taking on the Diamondbacks, and Eric and his wife and
the rest of the family was there not only for
Kyle Carros to make his first major league start in
his major league debut, but also for Kyle Carros to
deliver his first major league hit and drive in his
(21:18):
first major league run.
Speaker 1 (21:21):
That is a base hit the other way for Caros,
and he may get a rippy out of it. Here
comes burna belt throw of the plate night a time.
Speaker 4 (21:30):
What a debut.
Speaker 1 (21:32):
Kyle Caros a rut scoring single and he's bat in
a thousand.
Speaker 6 (21:38):
Kyle Caros, congratulations on your first major league hit, your
first major league RBI, and I know your pops was
really proud of you tonight. He was already proud of you,
but for him to be there and understand the hard
work that you've put in and all his support certainly
was special. You could tell after they showed Eric and
(21:58):
his wife in the sweet out there at Chase field Man.
He gave his wife a big kiss and gave her
a big hug and dabbed up a few of the
kids in the back row there. So cool moment for
the Carros family. And we all love Eric, a guy
that has meant a lot in Dodger history. So congratulations
to Kyle and the rest of the Caro's family. By
(22:21):
the way, the Rockies lost six to one, so Kyle
Carros drove in the only run for the Rockies. When
we continue from Dodger Stadium, we'll check in with Jose
Moniget his thoughts on the Hall of Fame matchup we
saw tonight. Kershaw beat Surezer five to one on the
World Champion Dodgers Audio Network and AM five to seventy LA.

Betts first pitch.
Speaker 8 (23:06):
Highlire left field, back toward the wall.
Speaker 4 (23:09):
He ask gone.
Speaker 6 (23:13):
Mookie Betts flips the scoreboard with a two run bast
Brick Monday and Steven Nelson on the call tonight, Mookie
Betts with a goal ahead, two run home run off
of Max Scherzer in the bottom of the fifth inning
to give the Dodgers the lead. They would score three
more runs in the seventh inning and beat the Red
(23:34):
Hot Blue Jays tonight by a final score of five
to one.

Speaker 5 (23:56):
It's time to go around the horn with hot.
Speaker 6 (24:02):
All right, Jose Motor let's start with the two future
Hall of famers. What a night at Dodgers Stadium to
have this pitching matchup number one and then number two
for them to both go six innings and kind of
go a dual for duel there.
Speaker 8 (24:17):
It does gives you a better appreciation of what pitching
is all about, and almost going back to the golden
era of guy's going out there and just battling it
through and having the ability to stop momentum using their defense.
These guys, even though they are you know, strikeout kings,
both of them in the two thousand circle, but they
know how to pitch. And one thing that I noticed
(24:38):
with Kersh, you know, after making well twenty two pitches
in that second ending, is that, okay, the swings are
telling that they want to pull the ball and start
hitting balls out of the ballpark.
Speaker 1 (24:45):
Let me go to a different plan.
Speaker 8 (24:47):
And same thing with Scherzer. I mean he was I mean,
he did not make a mistakes a little you know,
a couple of mistakes are one of the mookie beds.
But he was on his game too, and I think
it's truly a testament to to you know, how the
top guys on the mound when data will find stuff early,
you got to go out there and get him early.
(25:07):
The Addiers had a chance at the first inning against Sergery.
He actually got put of the first inning where the
era of seven point five coming in and found it.
But overawys where you have to go out there, David,
don't waste anything that's put in play defensively, and don't
waste any mistakes going forward, because you know, you got
to keep the game clean and cert and close for
you to have a chance to hurt somebody with one swing.
(25:29):
And that's exactly what happened thanks to Wilkie Betts.
Speaker 6 (25:32):
Mookie Betts maybe his best game of the season tonight, Jose.
When you take into account the two run home run
that gave the Dodgers the lead and that really inning
ending and game changing.
Speaker 4 (25:44):
Double play he started in the second inning.
Speaker 8 (25:47):
You know, you have to tell yourself, and you know
Wookie Bets quite well, David, that whatever it's going to
feed you and put you in a positive frame of mind,
you got to use it. And if it's your defense,
so be it. Whatever it is something with base running,
use whatever you can to just make sure you're feeding
yourself with a positive Those thoughts and get your body
(26:07):
and mind ready to go. I'm still good. I'm still
gonna go out there and get it done. And for Muki,
you know, the adjustments that I've seen is Muki doesn't
need a guy that lifts the baseball. Muki is not
good at lifting the baseball. This year, Let's let's just
throw it out there. A lot of weak fly balls,
a lot of easy early count Outsmoke news head line drives,
and there's no doubt in my mind or whatever conversation
(26:29):
he's had with people on baseball and its hitting coaches,
it's about hitting line drives and letting the ball go
wherever it's going to go, and getting away from being
that guy from you know, six years ago, was lifting
and getting balls out of the ballpark. It'll happen eventually,
but I think Mooke convinced himself that I am still
a good hitter. Let me just be a line drive hitter.
Hit balls through the infield. It's gonna make me better
(26:50):
to stay on the ball a little bit longer. Let's
move in with his hands, going back to spring turning
of last season, where he had the solid, compact swing
and without hitching down all the way down to his waist.
It's going to help him. But whatever it takes that
we know how impactful he is when he plays on
every founcer of the game defensively today, but with a batman,
they need that bat to continue the way he's going
(27:11):
right now to have an impact.
Speaker 6 (27:13):
Yeah, that would change the rest of the season. And
Mookie Beds can be close to the guy we saw tonight.
Speaker 8 (27:21):
Well sure, and then you know in games like this
one you talk about Mookie Britz factor and of course
Showhy and Freddy and Will whatever, But games like this
is where you want your top guys perhaps to not
have great games and have that three four, four to
five area, but they have a key at bat where
they can change the game and for the Dodgers the
(27:42):
rest of the season forty six games to go. Games
like today are the ones that convinced yourself that you
can win. We can keep it close and have one
of the big guns come through for you. Because with
the pitching they're coming back with and you know, stacking
the rotation the way they are, there's gonna be more
games like this than out slugging people, which is great.
The outluggling is great, but games like today. You need
(28:05):
to learn how to win by playing exactly as he
did today, by playing it clean, by not making mistakes
and making sure you catch a baseball. Clayton Kershel will
all the strike heuse. Think about this, Credon Kershel over
two thousand k's credit. Curshion has now pitched it to
eleven double plays. If that's our definition of know how
to pitch, I don't know what it is, but certainly
it's a lot of fun to watch. And they keep
(28:25):
it closed and have the bullk and throws them zeros too.
Speaker 6 (28:28):
And the Dodgers are going to have to play it
the same way tomorrow. Chris Bassett is not a thrower,
he's a pitcher. He's a guy that's gonna change speeds,
change quadrants in the strike zone. The Dodgers are gonna
have to be very disciplined tomorrow night as well.
Speaker 8 (28:43):
Yes, and just know that you can go out there
and get it done. They capitalize until watch later in
the game and Basst's gonna throw like eight different pitches
find out what's working. He's a guy that also going
to be pretty emotional and a guy that you can
run on. So whatever you can get as an edge
go out there and utilize it and know that one
mistake from him when he gets a little flustered, can
tinge a game in terms of you know, three on Homer,
But play the game right and the war, you know,
(29:05):
the war gets around and baseball is gonna reward you.
But I think today should be pretty much a templed
they should use the rest of the season knowing that
that's how they should play from here on.
Speaker 4 (29:15):
All right, Jose, thanks a lot for checking in.
Speaker 6 (29:17):
We'll see you tomorrow at Dodgers Stadium for another great
matchup between these two teams.
Speaker 8 (29:22):

Speaker 4 (29:26):
He's back, snell Zilla Saturday tomorrow.
Speaker 8 (29:28):

Speaker 6 (29:32):
Okay, Jose Mota joining us. He's part of the Dodgers
Spanish radio broadcast.
Speaker 4 (29:38):
That's right. Blake Snell is on the mound tomorrow for
the Dodgers.
Speaker 6 (29:41):
He's one and one with an ERA of three twenty one,
going up against Chris Bassett, who's eleven and five with
an ERA of four to twelve.
Speaker 4 (29:50):
Morongo Casino.
Speaker 6 (29:52):
