Speaker 1 (00:01):
One thing about this gene is the invisible and tangibles
that they have.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
This team is really becoming a family.
Speaker 3 (00:09):
Let's not play one on Tom. Let's wind it.
Speaker 4 (00:11):
I love writing me these guys after the show.

So just thank you, give me are.

Your attention, your fire and not a pisson.
Speaker 5 (00:17):
This is world champion, Dodgers, world championing for a small
soft time.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
They get a people what they want to die too
in a row two is special.
Speaker 6 (00:26):
I'm like, yeah, it's not a headache.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
One of the con This ball's gone. You ready to go.
Speaker 7 (00:34):
To the grab your phone to get in on the
show called eight six six nine eighty seven two five seven.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
And go to the show.
Speaker 7 (00:41):
And now your host of Dodger Talk, David Basset.
Speaker 5 (00:46):
We are live at Chase Field after the Dodgers beat
the Diamondbacks tonight by a final score of five to
four and eleven innings. The Dodgers magic number to clinch
the West is now ad won. The Padres lost to
the Brewers earlier this afternoon by a final score of
three to one. So the Dodgers control their own destiny.
(01:10):
They just need one more win and that could be
as soon as tomorrow. That would be ideal, and they
have the right guy on the mound to deliver in
Yoshi Yamamoto. Tonight, Blake Trining got the winning relief. Justin
Robleski got the save, his second of the season, and
blake'snell started this game and he was fighting command and
(01:34):
he threw forty four pitches after two innings. He had
an eleven pitch third inning. That was maybe a sign
that he was starting to find it again. And you know,
the fifth inning a little bit better, more economic, a
thirteen pitch fifth inning, and then he was able to
retire the Diamondbacks.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
In the sixth inning, he got a big.
Speaker 5 (01:56):
Double play from Gabriel Moreno and then struck out Blake's
Alexander looking on a beautiful curveball. So you know, that's
what the great ones do when they don't have it
in the beginning of the game.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
They don't don't just mail it in. They hang in there.
Speaker 5 (02:14):
He knows the situation, he understands where the Dodger bullpen is.
He wasn't gonna just tap out and give in and
get out of this game after four or five innings.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
He was gonna fight, compete.
Speaker 5 (02:27):
And you know, have some personal pride out there and
he did six innings, one and run, five strikeouts, one
walk for Blake Trinan. For the Dodgers tonight, I thought
their outfield contributed big time to this win tonight. Andy
Pajez made two great catches and he had a.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Big two run home run.
Speaker 5 (02:48):
Obviously, Tommy Edman three hits tonight, makes that great catch
in the ninth inning on Gabrielle Moreno as well comes
up with the game winning hit in the eleventh. So
those two guys and Mookie Betts with you know, with
three hits tonight certainly helped the Dodgers beat Arizona. Not
(03:09):
ideal to have the bullpen Alex Vesia tonight Edgardo and
Riquez in the eighth inn and give up three runs
to tie the game. But Alex Vesias human, he didn't
have his best stuff last night. I thought he fought
through it against the top of the lineup and got
out of it. Tonight, he just didn't have command and
(03:29):
he got into trouble that he couldn't get out of
and Enriquez couldn't get him out of it either. Not
a lot of swing and miss tonight from Meguardo and Riquez.
So that's the reason why the Diamondbacks scored three runs,
but the Dodgers hung in there. Clayton Kershaw came out
of the bullpen, pitched a scoreless ninth inning. Blake Trinin
(03:52):
came in to get Jack Dryer out of some traffic
in the tenth inning. That was big as well. And
how about Roki Sasaki. Gotta be honest with you, That's
all I wanted to see tonight. I wanted to see
Roki Sasaki pitch out of the bullpen tonight to see
what the Dodgers have, what they have seen in the
(04:13):
minor leagues that make them believe that he can be
a viable option out of the bullpen. And the first
first impression, I am all in. It was electric in
the seventh inning when he pitched a scoreless inning. He
was dominant, throwing ninety nine one hundred miles an hour.
He had his forkball dancing, and he struck out the
(04:37):
final two batters that he faced. Albeit it's not Corbyn
Carrol and Heraldo Perdomo that he struck out. He did
face the bottom third of the order in James McCann,
who has some pop. He got Tim Tawa looking, he
struck out a delmro Vargas swinging. So, I mean, this
(04:57):
was a first good test of this experiment. And I
gotta tell you I might be jumping the gun here,
but I'm all in. I saw a guy that wasn't scared.
I saw a guy attacking the strike zone. That's a
different guy than who we saw in May. That guy
had a lot of confidence tonight. Let's head downstairs right
(05:20):
now to sports net LA. I really want to hear
what Roki had to say after the game tonight.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
How did you go about getting the velocity.
Speaker 8 (05:28):
Back Masa.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Mahoma?
Speaker 1 (05:40):
This?
Speaker 9 (05:41):
Cause?
Speaker 8 (05:41):
Was this the heads clean?
Speaker 10 (05:53):
And the two biggest factor is, you know, just knowing
the fact that I'm healthy and that's way past find
me and just mechanically just being able to finally find
a place where I'm I feel really confident with my
mechanics already.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
Do you feel to possibly pitch relief in the postseason?
Speaker 10 (06:10):
Post the season for Jim might shut up.
Speaker 8 (06:21):
This, Okay, you could go like, hey, let's look good
say this now.
Speaker 10 (06:36):
I'm really happy with the results and the process. Pitching
twice in the minor leagues and today's outing, so I
just want to have just more opportunities to be able
to pitch on the on the Major League mound, just
to work on anything else I have to work on familiar.
Speaker 11 (06:51):
Look him a lot of like the video, trying to
figure out.
Speaker 4 (06:54):
What's wrong if you're delivery?
Speaker 5 (06:55):
What what did you see specifically in that process that
you're able to figure going to be?
Speaker 10 (07:03):
We must get and then you should say.
Speaker 8 (07:12):
So to the Indias.
Speaker 10 (07:20):
Just making sure my shoulder was moving the way I
wanted to be, and also working on my lower half mechanics.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
All right, there's Roki Sasaki.
Speaker 5 (07:30):
Certainly an intriguing picture for the Dodgers, considering how many guys,
especially the right handed relievers, have struggled. If Roki can
be a guy for the Dodgers, and it seems like
they are intent on having Roki on the postseason roster,
especially with the way he pitched tonight. We'll see how
(07:51):
it looks in Seattle. He definitely will get one more
appearance before next Tuesday's Wildcard series. And I, like I
told Jose Mota, tonight was outstanding.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
I'm all in.
Speaker 5 (08:04):
I want to see Roki against better hitters like Randio Rose,
Arena cal Rawley. I want to see what it looks
like against those type of guys. Eight six, six, nine,
eight seven, two five seventy is the phone number. Dodgers
beat the Diamondbacks tonight five to four and eleven innings.
Another subplot to Tonight's game, as far as the bullpen
(08:25):
is concerned, is future Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw. As
I said last night, it's not a trial run. I
think we know what Clayton Kershaw is capable of, and
he has been able to pitch out of the bullpen
in in the past, and he's had mixed results some
you know, not completely his fault, but the last time
(08:47):
he did pitch out of the bullpen for the Dodgers
was Game five of the twenty nineteen NLDS. But look,
he's gonna either pitch multiple innings or he's gonna be
in a situation like he was tonight, where if the
game is tied late, it's not a bad guy to
have to pitch two or three innings to give your
(09:07):
offense a chance, especially if you're playing that game at
Dodgers Stadium. Tonight a different situation. The Dodgers needed an
inning tonight. He had an inning to give before his
final regular season started his career on Sunday, and he
looked good. It was a good ninth inning for him.
Tommy Edmund made a great catch. But like I said,
(09:29):
this was not a trial run. This is something that
he's going to do no matter what the results showed tonight.
Let's head back downstairs to hear from Clayton Kershaw on
Sports at LA.
Speaker 12 (09:41):
Yeah, I mean it's an a general rush for sure.
You know, I think believing is just a different animal altogether,
you know, so you're kind of you kind of have
to figure out how to, you know, maintain your heartbeat
and get going. But you know, it is a lot
of fun and it's fun to have success out there.
So fortunately to get through that inning. And yeah, you know,
(10:02):
I don't think any of us really know what it
looks like in October yet. But you know, I had
a long time off in between starts, so instead of
throwing a bullpen, I just threw it in the game
today and I'll be ready to go Sunday. But I'm
glad I could help out tonight and big win for
us to night. Obviously, everybody threw the ball, you know,
Blake throwing the ball early for getting through six was
(10:24):
huge for us, and you know, biggest outs of the
game where Jack and Blake in that big ginning right there,
So some big outs for some guys that were really
gonna need and it was great to be on the
winning side of it.
Speaker 10 (10:37):
Leaving in a tie game in the night.
Speaker 12 (10:40):
Yeah, I mean, he's just added to the you know,
added to everything else that's different about it. But yeah,
I'm glad I got to help in a in a
situation where it was a big spot and you know,
facing Marte there in the last the last batter, you know,
he's maybe the toughest out for me as a left
handed pitcher there is so fortunate to get him to
pop out. Tommy made a really good play there, and
(11:03):
it's good to get out of it.
Speaker 10 (11:04):
You can't say the other day like you can do
the math.
Speaker 13 (11:05):
It's sort of hard to sort of see where everyone's
kind of fitting into.
Speaker 10 (11:08):
October early is the scroll you can sort of feel
like you can fit into if it need be.
Speaker 12 (11:14):
Oh look we have we have six amazing starters, you know,
and so it's just yeah, I can I can do
the math. So if I want to be a part
of it in any way, and I'll do whatever they
want me to do.
Speaker 5 (11:29):
All right, there's Clinton Kershaw on Sports Net LA. Yeah,
doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize the numbers game.
And if he wants to be part of this Dodgers postseason,
it's going to be out of the bullpen. And he
fully understands the situation and is embracing it because he
can have a huge impact on the Dodgers coming out
(11:51):
of the bullpen. Eight six six seven two five seventy
is the phone number. And yes, Katel Marte was the
one that hit that ball to Tommy Edmund in the
ninth inning and that was the last out of that inning.
So an incredible chat a catch by Tommy Edmund tonight.
Eight six six seven two five seventy is the phone number.
Let's go out to the phones for the first time tonight.
(12:13):
Hi Richard, you're on river You're you're on Dodger Talk.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
How you doing, Richard?
Speaker 6 (12:18):
I'm doing good, David.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
I'm excited too.
Speaker 2 (12:22):
Your riverside.
Speaker 5 (12:23):
I'm in Arizona and this is Dodger Talk, Hi Richard.
Speaker 6 (12:28):
Yes, sir, yes, sir man, it was. It was insane tonight.
Mister Pares. Of course he was electric. He's always dependable.
I love seeing him play, I love seeing him grow.
He's just he's just so great Kershaw. Of course, his
twenty nineteen appearance, his twenty sixteen Game five NLDS appearance,
You know, it just it's very reminiscent of that he
is ready whenever called upon in any kind of situation.
(12:50):
It just adds to his to his greatness, to his
to his legacy. Rokie looked very, very settled in regardless
of who we faced. You know, these Diamondbacks are a
tough team, as if they've shown us in this series.
They don't just roll over. They keep fighting. But taking
the fight out of him was big time. Tommy. He's
getting into October form, and I think it's safe to
say we are all here for it, and we are
(13:10):
all excited to see what else these Dodgers have to offer.
Thank you love for taking my car, all right, Richard.
Speaker 5 (13:15):
Do you know who else is ready for October? Ti
Oscar Hernandez again tonight, running the bases really aggressively. He
had a two out double that scored Mookie Bets in
the eighth inning, and the throw was bad and he
took advantage of it. He was really good on the
bases last night with the triple, and he was tonight
(13:37):
taking the extra base on the poor fielding of the
relay throw by the shortstop per Domo tonight, so Oscar
Hernandez has flipped the switch and it's real. Let's go
out to Sierra Madre. Dan, you're on Dodger Talk with
David vasse Hi.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
Dan, Hey, Dave, I just wanted to shed some light
really quick on how good black Snell's been. I never
noticed how good he is on defense, because he made
a play on the left side of the infield that
only maybe him or like Kershaw on his prime, could
have made, and then letting that wherewithal to let that
(14:14):
ground ball through to get Corbin out. I just I
think he should be our Game one starter. What do
you think?
Speaker 5 (14:22):
Yeah, I said that last night where you're listening to
the show. I mean, everybody keeps talking about Otani and Yamamoto.
I'm a firm believer it should be Blake Snell starting
Game one of the Wildcard Series for a couple of
different reasons. He can go on four or five days rest.
He can go on four days rest and be ready
to go for even Game one of the NLDS these
(14:43):
other guys like Yamamoto and Otani have shown, especially Otani,
you can't he's he's such a special case. And I'm
not holding that against him or Yamamoto, but it's just
the reality. They're better when they have extra day's rest.
Blake Snell can be at his best on four five
days rest and he wants it. So yeah, I'm all
(15:03):
in with that. Eight six six two five seventy is
the phone number? Are my eyes deceiving me? Ken in
Newport Beach wants to call in after a Dodger win.
Speaker 4 (15:13):
Hi, Ken, Well, I David, you see I do hang
in there. First, I want to congratulate the team. You know,
they've had a couple of these four one ahead and
then losses. They stuck in there and they won this game,
and it was an important game. It's going to make
it a lot of easier in the next four games.
(15:35):
And then some special congratulations. I think Sazaki looked phenomenal
and that's the way he can pitch. It's going to
make a big difference in the bullpen. I thought Curse
was a professional like he always is, just comes in
there and does his job. That's a real man. Justin
and then eleventh inning looked like what a closer was
(15:58):
supposed to look like. Two three and gone. And of
course Tommy Edmund didn't try to hit a home run
there at the end. He just hit the ball up
the middle and won that game. Huge. My only complaint
of the night is I don't think Dino Evil needed
to send the guy with one out home. Let him
(16:19):
stay at third base one out. That was the only
mistake of the day. Big game, very important game, and
now they can relax, all right.
Speaker 5 (16:29):
Ken, thank you for the phone call. Yeah, that wasn't
just any guy. It was the fastest guy on the
team and has Sung Kim. And look, he didn't give
Dino Ebel enough to work with to send him home.
It would have been ideal if Kim did not break
back towards second base on a line drive to the outfield,
but he did. And Freddie Freeman is on deck and
(16:50):
it's Corbyn Carroll in right field. Now Corbyn Carroll made
a perfect throw, but you know it's Corbyn Carroll. So
I'm sure that's what Dino's thinking about, trying to be aggressive,
to try to force the issue in that situation. Freddie's
not swinging the back great right now. But he smells RBIs.
If there's a guy ninety feet away, he's gonna find
(17:11):
a way to get him home. So yeah, I wouldn't.
I wouldn't disagree with you. That was an overly aggressive sin,
considering Kim made the base running mistake to break back
towards second base when he should have just been off.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
Let's go out to Manhattan Beach. Rob, you're on Dodger Talk.
How you doing? Rob?
Speaker 1 (17:29):
Hey?
Speaker 4 (17:29):
How are we doing?
Speaker 9 (17:30):
I'm doing good? How about you guys?
Speaker 2 (17:32):
We've established we're doing great.
Speaker 4 (17:35):
There we go.
Speaker 9 (17:36):
I think we're gonna be all right. I mean we
got a if Kaoskar Pohez and months you can hit
the ball, we're gonna be just okay. We're gonna figure
out the pitching. They're gonna do what they're gonna do
out of the bullpen. It's gonna be curs on one
of those guys, but she I can trust him. I
don't know about trying it, but as long as Paez,
Moncy and those boys hit, get Will Smith Backer the
(17:56):
catcher sitting, we're gonna be just fine.
Speaker 5 (17:58):
What do you guys think, Oh, there's only one guy here.
I mean, we can open it up to a couple
of other people. Rob But yeah, that's a mediocre analysis
by you generalizing a lot. But anyway, yeah, I emit.
Shean's going to be part of that bullpen. Kershaw is
going to be part of that bullpen. Uh if Rokie
(18:19):
after what I saw tonight, Roki is going to be
part of that bullpen. So the bullpen and the roles
are going to be completely different than what you saw
even intonight's game. The Dodgers just needed to get to
the finish line to win this division, and the way
it's going to look in the postseason is much different.
I've used the example of the twenty nineteen Nationals, one
(18:42):
of the highest bullpen e alays in the last fifty years,
to win the World Series. They did it by getting creative,
using their starters to really pitch a lot of innings
so they did not have to use some of their
high wire act relievers in big spots, and they scored runs.
The Dodgers are going to have to score runs as
(19:02):
well to win this World Series for a back to
back season, and I'm a firm believer that the only
thing standing in their way is the bullpen, because the
starting pitching is elite. The offense is starting to click.
Ta Oscar Hernandez has founded in the last couple of weeks.
But the reality is the bullpen has the fifth highest
(19:24):
ELRA since September tenth, five sixty nine.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
So, like I said, it's gonna look different.
Speaker 5 (19:32):
Blake Trenon's confidence, I'm sure, is a little higher tonight
than it was in his previous five outings in September.
And Roki Sasaki's got to be feeling great too. We're
gonna take a time out here on Dodger Talk when
we continue more of your phone calls. Also, we'll hear
from Blake Snell and we'll break down how the playoff
(19:53):
picture is looking, not only for the Dodgers, but the
rest of Major League Baseball. Still a few different things
in the balance. Here will get you caught up on that,
as it is a wild finish to a great regular
season for the Dodgers and the rest of Major League Baseball.
The Dodgers tonight hold on for a five to four
win in eleven innings on a five to seventy LA Sports.
Speaker 14 (20:20):
On air at AM five to seventy, online at AM
five seventy LA sports dot com, and available by podcast
on the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
This is Dodger Tom with David Bassan.
Speaker 7 (20:33):
Bluejay's losing at home to the Red Sox seven to
one in Boston, hanging on to that spot in the
wild card PI has It's a drive, Dude plat Peel
and con Andy Pie has home run number twenty six,
a two run shot of the Dodgers lead at three
(20:53):
to one. Andy Pie has with a couple of great
plays in left field tonight and also hits a go
ahead two run home run in the fourth inning. The
Dodgers would hold on in a wild finish here in
the Desert five to four over the Diamondbacks in eleven innings.
Daniel Stewelers presents the home run forecast. Go to AM
(21:15):
five seventy lasports dot com use the keyword home run
for your chance to win a fifty dollars Daniel Stewler's
gift card predicting the number of home runs in the
next game. Daniel Steelers own the dream. The Diamondbacks had
an opportunity if they beat the Dodgers tonight, to pull
into a tie with the Mets for the final wildcard spot.
(21:37):
Because the Reds lost in Pittsburgh tonight, so the Reds
and Diamondbacks still remain a game back of the Mets
for the final wildcard spot in the National League. Remember,
the Dodgers will be hosting a best of five or
excuse me, best of three wildcard series beginning next Tuesday
(21:58):
at Dodgers State. If the season ended today, like I mentioned,
Mets would be at Dodgers Stadium, the Padres would be
playing a best of three wildcard series against the Cubs
at Wrigley Field.
Speaker 2 (22:12):
The winner of.
Speaker 5 (22:12):
The Dodgers Mets series would play the Phillies, who are
the number two seed right now. The winner of the
Padres and Cubs would play the Brewers in the NLDS.
As far as the American League goes, the Red Sox
and Yankees are the two wildcard teams, so right now
it would be Boston at Yankee Stadium, and the Yankees
(22:33):
are still very much alive for the division in the
AL East, and the other wildcard series would be the
two AL Central teams. The Tigers would be playing in
Cleveland after Cleveland has tracked them down for first place
in the AL Central. Can you believe Cleveland was fifteen
(22:57):
and a half games back of the Tigers on July eighth,
and now lead the Tigers in the AL Central.
Speaker 2 (23:06):
Detroit was also up two.
Speaker 5 (23:08):
And a half games on Cleveland back on September third,
nine and a half on September tenth. So uh, talk
about a collapse couldn't happen to a better guy in
aj Hinch either. Eight sixty six nine seven two five
seventy is the phone number. Let's let's head downstairs right
now to hear from Blake Snell, who pitched six solid
(23:28):
innings tonight, despite fighting command in the first couple of innings,
coming back to give the Dodgers what they needed.
Speaker 13 (23:36):
I mean, early on, just learning a lot, reading swings,
reading curve ball. Wasn't really curving into the if you will,
but this wasn't breaking. Just had to learn adjust. I
was gonna use it a good amount today. But yeah,
how did you suggest and learn? Read swings, trust feel
and as a game kept going, just understand you know
(24:01):
what hitters are shooting to what I could read a
lot of their tales, which was great. So yeah, just
really learning and yeah, just trusting what I had and
believing it. And so I attacked this no more.
Speaker 1 (24:15):
Yeah, I spell where you wanted to be going into October,
especially with the time missed earlier this year is kind
of the way he's last couple have gone.
Speaker 13 (24:23):
I know, if that's where I want to be. Uh, yeah,
I mean that's where It's why I should be, It's
why i'm right now, and I'm I'm good with that. Yeah,
I mean I've had a bunch of stars where I've
learned a ton and yeah, I'm excited for once to
come and postseason and yeah, I still have a lot
(24:44):
to learn. But yeah, it was.
Speaker 10 (24:47):
Like watching Rokie come out after you.
Speaker 13 (24:49):
I dread Yeah with a nasty sweat. Okay, Rokie, No,
I was so excited for him. Yeah, that was that
was big. I mean I think everyone's going to be
so excited for him, and if he can do that,
that's a big help for us. Big threat already.
Speaker 10 (25:08):
You have to celebrate if you can clinch tomorrow.
Speaker 9 (25:10):
Is that right?
Speaker 2 (25:11):
You can clinch tomorrow?
Speaker 10 (25:12):
Ready, are you to celebrate that?
Speaker 13 (25:17):
I'm excited. I mean we're in a postseason, so I'm
excited for that to clinch tomorrow and win the division. Yeah,
I'm confident we're gonna do it. I've been confident since
before the season, so yeah, I'll be ready, but the
party I want is at the end of the day,
the last one. So that's exciting. And he has a
good season and the last I'm fucks on that last one. Yeah,
(25:42):
all right.
Speaker 5 (25:42):
There's Blake Sneill after tonight's game, and he certainly gave
the Dodgers what they needed. He competed through six innings
and love hearing what you know. He's told me ever
since I've gotten to know him when he was pitching
with the Padres, and what he says is what Kershaw
says just as much, and that's he reads swings, he
(26:04):
adjusts to what is feeling good for him, He adapts
and he doesn't abandon certain pitches.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
So that's what made him successful.
Speaker 5 (26:11):
Tonight eight sixty six seven two five seventy is the
phone number.
Speaker 2 (26:16):
Let's go out to Alta. Dina Rich, You're on Dodger Talk.
How you doing Rich?
Speaker 14 (26:21):
Hey, God bless your brother. Good to talk to you again.
The last time we talked was the first game of
the season. And shout out to col and Yee who
encouraging me after I loust my home and the fire.
I want to tell you life baseball's like lives. It's
got it's ups and downs, and what a roller coaster ride.
(26:41):
But as I often preach in the pulpit, there is
no testimony without a test and the Dollar Dodgers have
really been through with injuries. But what a gift this
could be to the city if they could come through here.
But even if they don't, we love him anyway. And
I just wanted to say hi and ask once again,
I know you covered it, but what starts do you
(27:04):
envision again coming out of the bullpen?
Speaker 3 (27:08):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (27:09):
Emit shean You could count Roki Sasaki as a starter
coming out of the bullpen. I could see Kershaw coming
out of the bullpen. And I could even see Tyler
Glass now coming out of the bullpen in the Wildcard series,
because you know it's only a best of three. If
you need to shorten a game, why not have Glass
Now pitch a couple of innings in that series?
Speaker 3 (27:31):
Yeah?
Speaker 14 (27:31):
Beautiful and beautiful. I love it. I can breathe again.
After tonight, I was at dinner. I saw there, you know,
my guys are up four to one. By the time
I stood up and paid the bill, it was tied again.
I told my fans, say, I don't believe this, So
now you're giving me a lot more cope. So I'm
going to tell you I know what to pray for
in the world events and all that, but I do
(27:52):
pray for the Dodgers. You, everyone, Tim and Rick Monday,
pray for y'all. You are truly a fan and calling
you encouraging me. This is truly a family. So thank
you so much.
Speaker 5 (28:05):
Hey, Rich, We're behind you. You're part of the Dodger
family too. Thanks a lot for the phone call. Eight
six six seven two five seventy is the phone number.
Dodgers beat the Diamondbacks tonight five to four and eleven innings.
Let's take one final call before we say goodnight. And
who better than Kevin and Culver City to walk us
(28:26):
off tonight. Hi Kevin, You're on Dodger Talk Live from Arizona.
Speaker 3 (28:31):
Gods good David, you're my man. Let me tell you something.
I'm never I'm never calling Dodger Talk again. If you
don't have my boy, Blake snaill take you to dinner
in Seattle. That's his hometown. He's got three nights to
do it. Get some good fish and chips or something
in the pike or some sushi, but he needs to
take you to dinner. He couldn't afford it. That's your boy, snails,
little guys show you the city.
Speaker 2 (28:52):
Look Amen to that, Kevin. That's why I love you.
Speaker 3 (28:55):
You got that right.
Speaker 11 (28:57):
Blake's a dog like you saw, like you said, that's
not He's gotta be our number one eighth in Game one,
like we saw the night six in is just mashout
pitching baseball, just great command of the strike zone, getting
it done.
Speaker 3 (29:09):
You love seeing that he's ready for the bulldog mentality.
And I felt like, I gotta think the City of
Phoenix and Arizona Dinmonbacks fans because they gave us our
best scrimmage for the playoffs. That's what playoff baseball looks like.
Fans yell and beat la loud, loud crowd. The way
the Dinonbacks played this game. Roberts managed that game like
it was a playoff game, going with Sasaki and Kershaw.
(29:31):
That's what we're gonna see. That's the feel. And I
felt like tonight really felt like a playoff game with
the energy, And I think that's what we're gonna look
for coming up in the postseason. I'm ready for it
and I like the matchup. I like Philly. We found
our issues with Milwaukee. Like you said, with the left handers,
they're left handed dominated a lot up with all their
left handers and our pitching, it's a perfect matchup for us. So,
(29:53):
like I said, great tune up tonight for the playoffs,
and I think we're ready to really get a look
for a postseason, cause we're not gonna get that again.
To see how they clinched already, I think this was
a good feel to get ready for it with the screens.
Speaker 2 (30:05):
Thanks d Yeah, I'm with you, Kevin, I'm with you.
Thank you for the phone call.
Speaker 5 (30:08):
And look, if the Dodgers do face the Brewers, I
wouldn't put a lot of stock into the Dodgers being
oh and six against Milwaukee during the regular season. The
Brewers caught the Dodgers at times where they were not
at full strength. The Dodgers were not playing well, they
didn't have their starters. So if it comes to that,
I'm not putting a lot of stock in that oh
(30:29):
and six record.
Speaker 2 (30:30):
Just keep that in mind. But I wouldn't count the Cubs.
Speaker 5 (30:33):
I kind of like the Cubs beating the Padres at
Wrigley Field in that series, and given the Brewers all
they can handle, that would be another electric series between
two rivalry cities, two rivalry managers, and two rivalry franchises.
So that would be special, but a long way to
go before we even start thinking about all that stuff.
(30:55):
Right now, the Dodgers are just one win away from
clinching the NLS. That's what they're focused on, and they
have that opportunity in front of them tomorrow afternoon with
Yamamoto on the mound, whom more fitting than Yama Moto
to be on the mound the day the Dodgers clinched
the nl West. He's eleven and eight with an ERA
(31:16):
of two point fifty eight. The Diamondbacks have pushed that
gallon back to the weekend. They're going with a bullpen
game Morongo Casino. Dodgers on Deck begins at eleven thirty.
First pitch from Chase Field with Rick Monday and Tim
Neverett at twelve forty. That'll do it for us tonight
from the desert. Thanks to Colin Ye back at our
Burdbank Studios, Thanks to Dwayne McDonald out here at Chase Field,
(31:40):
and thanks to you for listening and calling in Without
you there is no Dodger Talk, so thank you.
Speaker 2 (31:46):
In case you missed.
Speaker 5 (31:47):
Our pregame Karma interview with Justin Robleski, who picked up
his second save of the season tonight, you can find
it on the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (31:56):
Don't forget.
Speaker 5 (31:56):

A five to seventy LA Sports channel on the iHeartRadio
app and make Dodger Talk a number.
Speaker 2 (32:05):
One pre set as well.
Speaker 5 (32:07):
Once again, the final score tonight, the Dodgers hold on
for a five to four win over the Snakes in
eleven innings. We'll talk to you tomorrow night or tomorrow afternoon.
One went away from the NL West Championship.
Speaker 2 (32:19):
See him start
