Speaker 1 (00:01):
One thing about this gene is the invisible and tangibles
that they have.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
This team is really becoming a family.

Speaker 3 (00:09):
Let's not play one on Tom.

Speaker 4 (00:10):

soft time they get up people what they want to die.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Too in a row two is special. I'm like, yeah,
it's not a headache. One of the con This ball's gone.
You ready to go?

Speaker 6 (00:33):

seven two five seven.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
I'll go to the show.

Speaker 6 (00:41):
And now your host of Dodger Talk, David Vasse.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
We are live at g Mobile Park in Seattle after
the Dodgers defeat the Mariners tonight by a final score
of three to two. Welcome the Dodger Talk David Vass
with you until eleven clock tonight at eight six six
nine eight seven two five seventy. You'll hear from Max
Monthly a little bit later on what is ailing him

(01:08):
and whether or not Tuesday is in jeopardy for him
to be Starting at third base. Also, we'll give you
an update on Brock Stewart, and if we have time,
we'll relive the fun of yesterday's NLS clinching celebration in
Arizona with Clayton Kershaw and Blake Snell. That was that
was a fun time, and the Dodgers wanted to make

(01:31):
it a big one because, as you know, this is
Kershaw's final season and that was his final nl West
clinching celebration. So the Dodgers, even on getaway day having
to fly to Seattle, did not want to short change Kershaw.
And he certainly enjoyed himself. And yeah, that interview went

(01:51):
viral nationally, maybe internationally too. Eight six six nine eight
seven two five seventy is the phone number. We have
two lines. We're with you until eleven o'clock after the
Dodgers beat the Mariners tonight three to two. And look,
I'll be honest with you. When I saw the Dodgers
starting lineup, I was like, Okay, they're just going to
go through the motions tonight. These games are not going

(02:15):
to change that. They are going to host a best
of three wildcard series starting Tuesday at Dodgers Stadium and
tickets are still available for that game. By the way,
tickets are on sale for the entire postseason outside of
the World Series, but specifically for the Wildcard Series, tickets
are available and you can go to Dodgers dot Com

(02:35):
for those. And look, I'll just say this, I saw
it happen in Atlanta when the Dodgers were there in
twenty thirteen and beat the Braves in the NLDS when
that SERI Series was in Atlanta at Fulton County or
Turner Field. By that time, it was like thirteen or
fourteen years of the Braves going to the postseason, and

(02:57):
basically the fan base got spoiled and apathetic to the
early rounds of the postseason. Let's not make that happen
in LA. Let's not take anything for granted. You should
be selling out Dodger Stadium on Tuesday and Wednesday. I
don't see the Reds or the Mets taking this three games,
but let's make it a playoff environment at Dodger Stadium.

(03:21):
The fans here in Seattle certainly set the tone because
this this game means nothing. But there was a sellout
crowd of forty five, four hundred and fifty eight and
they were on their feet from the eighth inning until
the last out. They made this an incredible environment for
a game that is not going to change anything for

(03:43):
either one of these teams. And look I told you
in Arizona after a Rokies Sasaki pitched a great scorelessening
in relief. The next test was pitching twice in three
days as he did today, and then more importantly, I
wanted to see how he would react against really good
hitters that the Mariners have, and thankfully those guys were

(04:05):
still in the game. He faced Randyo Rose Arena and
cal Rawley. A Rose Lorena turned one hundred miles an
hour around and nearly hit it out, but it was
a double off the wall with two outs, and you know,
the fans here forty five thousand and four point fifty
eight were on their feet chanting MVP MVP for cal

(04:27):
Rawley and Roki Sasaki passed another test. He kept his
poise and he actually flipped the script on Raleigh, throwing
in three consecutive split fingered fork balls, whatever you want
to call him, and Raleigh struck out on three pitches.
That really sold me that he can come in in

(04:49):
a hostile environment to face a guy that may win
the al MVP and still keep his composure, still be aggressive,
still throw strikes, and look, look if the Dodgers advance,
this is the type of environment Roki is going to
come into in Philadelphia and the Dodgers are going to
need him. And I think it's interesting that Dave Roberts

(05:11):
has picked the seventh inning in his first two appearances
in relief. Will that change? Could it be Rokie in
the seventh and Emit Shehan closing out the game in
the eighth and ninth innings like Jose Mota suggested, I
wouldn't rule it out, especially against a right handed heavy
team like the Mets or Reds eight six six nine

(05:32):
eight seven two five seventy. Let's head downstairs right now
to hear from Dave Roberts on Sports net LA.

Speaker 7 (05:39):
Yeah, it was, you know, since we clinched and then
we could look forward to the postseason and you know,
line with the pitching and kind of what that means
is getting your best possible arms on that postseason roster
and so kind of assessing him it and how we

(06:02):
could make him, you know, viable for the wild Card Series.
The best way to do that was to shorten him up.
So we did that, and he'll come out of the pen.
He'll be ready to go on Tuesday for whatever's asked
of him. And you know, tonight the bullpen did a
fantastic job and we scored just enough.

Speaker 8 (06:18):
With the bullpen. Could a game like this just serve
as a confidence booster for them, especially so late in
the season as they prepare for October?

Speaker 7 (06:25):
I think so, you know, I thought, certainly Rokie was fantastic.
I thought, you know, trying was better than you know,
you know, the walk on the on the the timeout thing,
and he made some good pitches. I thought Tanner through

(06:45):
the ball well, you know, unfortunate with the hit batsmen
right there with the heater in, But yeah, I thought,
there's some good things out of the pen, and and
hopefully these guys can build off of, you know, these
last couple of outings.

Speaker 8 (06:58):
Kaye Miguel had shared just the conversation that they had
with Tanner on the mound. When you talk about how
this team has come together, stepping up for each other
when they need, what is a moment like that just
say how they've always kind of had his back, but
also how big a moment like that can be.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
For a player in the moment, it's everything.

Speaker 7 (07:17):
There's obviously a lot of noise outside, but really the
most important thing is you know when you look at
your teammates and your coaches and you know, you feel
that they have confidence in you. And so for that
meeting on the mound, I don't know what was said,
but it's good to hear that they were kind of
reaffirming their confidence in him. And you know, he made
pitches when he needed to.

Speaker 4 (07:37):
To trust.

Speaker 5 (07:38):
Guys likes him getting out of an anything like that,
something that you guys can build off in terms of
trust in him in this kind of spots.

Speaker 7 (07:43):
But it is, it is. You know, it certainly hasn't
been the year that you know, we envision, but you know,
he potentially has the opportunity to make it all go away,
and you know by showing his best in the postseason.
So I don't know how it's gonna look right now,
but you know, I think for him, he needed that

(08:04):
one and we needed it as well.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
All right, there's Dave Roberts on Sports at LA and look,
really the only remaining questions for the Dodgers is their bullpen.
Their bullpen is the only thing standing between them and
a back to back World Series championship. And if Tanner
Scott and Blake Trening can't compete the way they did
in the eighth and ninth innings tonight, they don't need

(08:29):
to mow the opponent down one, two, three every single time.
You're gonna be facing really good teams in the postseason
and it's not going to be easy. But if you
can keep your composure and compete and find a way
even when you're not feeling your best to have confidence
in yourself, knowing your teammates have confidence in you, and

(08:52):
do what they did tonight, the Dodgers will live with that.
Blake Trning tonight just couldn't get JP Crawford out. He
had read he had given up a run to make
it a one run game in the eighth inning, and
the game was hanging in the balance right there against Crawford,
and Tryna just couldn't put him away until the tenth
pitch of the at bat. He won it on a flyout,

(09:14):
and then in the ninth inning. Obviously, Tanner Scott has
had a rough go of it in his first year
with the Dodgers, but if you look at what he
did Okay, he's facing Leo Revas, who is a light
hitting guy at the bottom of the Mariners order, gets
him to fly out to deep center. Randy a Rose Arena,

(09:34):
who is a wild card. That was a nerve wracking
at bat, definitely, because he can tie the game up
with one swing of the bat. But he was able
to throw a one to zero fastball with the slider
and then get ahead of a Rose Arena on another
slider with a foul ball. He felled off another one,

(09:55):
and then Tanner Scott and Ben Rourtfitt was able to
change eye level and velocity on a Rose Arena and
get him swinging on a fastball ninety seven. And then
you had cal Raley. Cal Rawley from the right side
doubled promptly. He was at second base representing the tying run.
Dave Roberts did the right thing, intentionally walked Julio Rodriguez,

(10:18):
and then Tanner Scott hits Mitch Garver who was hitting
two oh three. That was the guy Dave Roberts wanted
him to get out. He did not want Tanner Scott
to have to face Uanio Suarez, but Tanner Scott was
able to keep his composure and be able to get
ahead of Suarez, which was a key to the at bat,
back to back sliders for strikes, and then was able

(10:41):
to strike him out on the fifth pitch of the
at bat for a slider that was down and in
and Suarez had no chance against Tanner Scott's slider. And
you heard what Dave Roberts said and what Kirsten Watson
was asking him about the meeting on the mound with
Keith ro Ohas I can tell you this wholeheartedly. Talking

(11:04):
to his teammates in the clubhouse the last two three weeks,
they have fully supported Tanner Scott. Everybody from Freddie Freeman
to Max Muncy. Nobody has talked poorly about Tanner Scott
and said, oh, this guy, he's not made for it. No,
they believe in tanner Scott. They feel like he's run

(11:25):
into some bad luck recently and they know they're going
to need Tanner Scott. Speaking of Tanner Scott, he was
speaking to the media after a good night in Seattle.

Speaker 9 (11:35):
Oh for sure. I mean when when everyone came to
the mountain, Megie and Kyk, they were awesome. I mean
they hug me up and I man, I got the
job done, that's all it matters, and we wont closing out.

Speaker 8 (11:45):
Can you just tell me what you were seeing there?
What do you mean that's like any have that and
kind of just the swing and miss, the strikeouts, how
you're placing the ball. Just what are you kind of
seeing it?

Speaker 10 (11:54):
Yeah?

Speaker 9 (11:54):
On on Garb, I tried going up and got too
far in and hit him and then uh Saz, I
mean he's a powerhader. You're not trying to get anything
in the zone. You're trying to get below it, above it,
enter out and uh I made some bitches and uh
it went my ways different.

Speaker 11 (12:09):
Little to maintain your confidence over the course of the season,
what can sort of finishing off strong for dude, just
fort to push you forward.

Speaker 10 (12:15):
Towards the plasses.

Speaker 9 (12:17):
I mean, you just gotta like today's over and just
move on to the next day. And I mean as
a as a relieve you're always trying to try to
build off the last one. And and that's it's huge.

Speaker 7 (12:27):
Quite surprised when they came kind of circled up on
the mound with you.

Speaker 9 (12:32):
Uh no, I mean Miggy's a great leader. I mean
he he'll come to the mounta and I've known him
since our time in Miami together, and uh no, I
mean it was huge for him to do that.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
All right, there's Tanner Scott on sports in at LA
and a lot of times it's the catcher that initiates
those type of meetings on the mound to slow the
game down, to give the picture confidence. But with an
inexperienced catcher and Ben Rourtfitt behind the plate, it was
up to Key k Hernandez Miguel Rojas, who are the
leaders of this team, or two of the bigger voices

(13:04):
in that clubhouse. And they were on the infield right there,
and they felt like, Okay, this is the time we
need to regroup with our pitcher and let him know
that he's good enough to get Suarez out even with
the bases loaded in two outs. And again tonight, Scott
threw nineteen pitches, eleven of them were sliders. At least

(13:26):
he mixed in some fastballs, unlike the last downing in Arizona,
where he threw eighteen of his twenty one pitches as sliders.
I get it. It's obvious the Dodgers don't want Scott
to get beat on his fastball. But you can't only
throw three fastballs in an inning. You got to mix
it up a little bit, and he was able to

(13:47):
use the fastball to set up his slider. Tonight eight six, six, nine, seven,
two five seventy is the phone number. Let's go out
to the OC. Dominic lead us off on Dodger Talk tonight,
Hi Dominic, how are you?

Speaker 10 (14:02):
I am doing good. I am ready for playoffs. I'm
unpatient for it already. I am just absolutely excited. I
do want to say I was a little scared at
the at the bottom of the eighth, but the Dodgers,
they pulled through the team effort and we didn't. We
didn't have to witness catastrophe today. But I wanted to

(14:24):
give you a call because you I did win the tickets,
and I just wanted to thank you for sending me
the two tickets to Clinton Kershaw's Bibblehead and I I
had a last I honestly missed seeing games at Dodgers
Stadium and I haven't gone into over a year.

Speaker 9 (14:42):
So awesome.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
I'm glad you had a good time. That was a
special Sunday, and it's going to be a special Sunday
here in Seattle. Kershaw's final regular season start. We'll get
into tomorrow night. Just some memories of Kershaw again, and
I'll try to go into the interview archives to pull
out some of the classic soundbites of Kershaw with us

(15:06):
on Dodgers Radio. Eight six six nine eight seven two
five seventy is the phone number. We're going to take
a time out here on Dodger Talk. When we come back,
you'll hear from Max Munsey, We'll give you an update
on Brock Stewart, and you'll hear Kershaw and Snell Zilla
in the Celebratory Clubhouse yesterday after the Dodgers clinched the

(15:26):
NL West for a fourth straight year, they're looking to
defend their World Series championships starting Tuesday at Dodger Stadium. Tonight,
they took care of business in front of a sellout crowd,
beating the Mariners at t Mobile Park three to two
on a five seventy LA Sports.

Speaker 6 (15:48):
Dodger Talk is available on AM five seventy LA sports
dot com hand on the iHeartRadio app. Back to more
Dodger Talk with Dodger insider David Vasse, stretch.

Speaker 3 (16:00):
By Kirby and the Mariner right handed throwers, and this
Paul's belt to the left and dap this Paul's back
and has gone a home run. K k Hernandez flips
the score and gives the Dodgers a two to one
lead with his tenth home run of the season.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
Key k Hernandez was not conceding anything. He set the
tone after the Mariners took an early one nothing lead,
given the Dodgers a two to one lead and they
would never look back. Dalton Rushing adding a huge insurance
RBI base hit in the sixth inning and the Dodgers
beat the Mariners in front of a sellout crowd here
at T Mobile Park three to two. Daniels Jewelers presents

(16:43):
the home run forecast. Go to AM five to seventy.
LA sports dot Com used the keyword home run for
your chance to win a fifty dollars Daniels Jeweler's gift
card predicting the number of home runs in the very
next game. Daniels Jewelers own the dream. Eight six, six, two,
five seventy is the phone number. Key k a Hernandez

(17:03):
got the start today at third base because Max Munsey
is dealing with some sort of soreness that the Dodgers
are not willing to disclose specifically. The only thing Dave
Roberts would say is that Monsie's dealing with something in
his lower half that is affecting his swing. So uh.
After Max Munsey was done taking ground balls at third base,

(17:26):
myself and a couple of beat riders waited for Monsey
to see if he could provide any clarity.

Speaker 5 (17:32):
No, it's not so much with the ground balls. It's
more with the swing. Just a couple of things I'm
not able to do right now, and so we're you know,
we're just trying to like I said, these these next
three games, you obviously want to be in there to
make sure you're you're tuned up and ready to go.
But at this point, like I said, you can't gain
her lose any ground with these next three games. And
so for for us, Tuesday is what we're talking about,

(17:55):
and it's more important for Tuesday. And you know, yeah,
we'll see out the next next couple days go.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
We're good.

Speaker 5 (18:01):
It's just like I said, we're just trying to be
smart about some stuff and I'm just trying to make
sure that guys are healthy.

Speaker 2 (18:06):
All right, there's Max Munsey earlier today, he didn't sound
too concerned that he would not be available for Tuesday's
Game one of the Wildcard Series, which you know makes
everybody breathe a little bit easier, but it is always
concerning with the injuries that months he has had the
last couple of years that he was not in the

(18:27):
lineup again because you know he wants to be so
hopefully he's ready to go on Tuesday, and we'll see.
I guess we'll have to wait and see for Tuesday.
And speaking of Tuesday, the Dodgers still don't know who
their opponent is, but it's starting to come down to
the wire between the Reds and the Mets. The Mets
lost today, the Reds won, so the Mets and Reds

(18:50):
have the same record, and the Reds own the tiebreakers,
so if the Reds and Mets have the same record,
after it would be the Reds coming to Dodger Stadium
for a best of three series and the Mets, man,
they are reeling right now, and the Reds are are

(19:10):
scoring just enough runs to win with that great pitching.
And people ask me daily which team would you want
the Dodgers to face, and I automatically say the Mets.
The Mets are reeling. They are underwater. They can't get
out of their own way. They don't have as great
as starting pitching as the Reds do. Their lineup is

(19:32):
better than the Reds, I guess, but they're not really
proving it. And the Mets would have to fly cross
country because they're in Miami right now, so they would
have to come all the way from Miami to Dodger
Stadium to play a best of three series at Dodger Stadium.
To me, that would give the Dodgers advantages in a

(19:53):
number of different categories as far as some of the
other things going around in the playoff picture and Made
League Baseball. The Red Sox walked off the Tigers tonight,
so the Red Sox right now are very much in
control of the wildcard. They clinched their postseason ticket today
with that walkoff win, and the Tigers and aj Hinch,

(20:16):
one of the most overrated managers in baseball, are on
the verge of blowing and missing the postseason after having
a fifteen and a half game lead over the Guardians.
Eight sixty six nine seven two five seventy is the
phone number. Let's go out to Pomona, George. You're on
Dodger Talk with David vasse Hi.

Speaker 1 (20:36):
George, Hi, David, thank you so much for taking my call.
I say what you say. I believe in these guys.
They're going all the way excited about the new pieces
in the bullpen. There's one thing though, that no one
is talking about. Everyone's saying that these games don't matter,
these this last series, but potentially, potentially we could face Dodgers,

(21:02):
could face Seattle for the World Series, and so home
field advantage is at stake right now. Dodgers with ninety
one wins, Mariners with ninety wins.

Speaker 2 (21:13):
Yeah, that's a great point, George, and I actually believe
there's a very good chance this is a World Series
preview with the great pitching the Mariners have and the
offense that they have this season. That's been the big
missing part to their pitching staff in years past. So yeah,
I'm with you, George. That's a great point. If the
Dodgers have a better record than the Mariners like they

(21:36):
do right now, that would loom large in a fall Classic.
So great point, George, I appreciate it. What do you
think will it be Dodgers Mariners or are you with
some that believe it's Dodgers Yankees repeat from last year.

Speaker 1 (21:51):
I'm not excited about the Dodgers Yankees repeat. I'd be
more interested in seeing Seattle. That's why I'm into this series.
I think Seattle has some great momentum. And you were
saying that you saw it. I think they've got to
the city that wants it really bad.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
Oh yeah, they do. Dwayne MacDonald, our producer engineer, he
pointed out to me that this is the only the
sixth time that the Mariners are in the postseason, and
they've only won three division titles prior to this one.
So they're hungry. And it was evident tonight forty five
four point fifty eight sellout. We're on their feet in

(22:30):
the seventh inning, in the eighth inning, in the ninth inning,
and they let their voices be heard. There were a
lot of Dodger fans here too, but certainly the Mariner
fans did not sell their tickets to the Dodger fans.
It was a lot of Mariners. Tonight, Let's go out
to Andy in Manhattan beach. Hi, Andy, you're on Dodger
Talk Live from Seattle TV.

Speaker 4 (22:52):
Thanks for having me, buddy, listen to you every night,
walking my dog out here in Manhattan Beach, and it's
just so great to be a Dodger fan right now,
so many great things going on. I just wanted to
get your opinion. Do we want to see the Phillies
in the second round or do we want to see
the Brewers? Because that battle right now is going back
and forth. There's so many good, you know, battles going

(23:12):
back and forth in baseball. Who do we want to
see in the second round. It's much harder to play
in Philadelphia. I think Milwaukee's playing with house money. What
do you think?

Speaker 2 (23:22):
Well, I believe the Dodgers would have to see the
Phillies either way in the NLCS or the nlds Andy.
So I'm gonna say I'd rather face the Phillies in
a best of five than in a best of seven
because they can go toe to toe with the Dodgers
as far as slugging goes. And I would you know,
I would say the bullpen more traditional relievers Philadelphia has,

(23:47):
and they have a lockdown closer and Joan Duran that
may give them the edge in a longer series. But yeah,
I anything can happen in a best of five, and
I feel like the Phillies are the biggest challenge to
the Dodgers in the National League, so I would say,
let's let's see them in a best of five rather

(24:08):
than a best of seven. And right now the Dodgers
and Phillies are on a collision course. But the Phillies
are one game back of the Brewers. So either way,
the Dodgers are going to see the Phillies, and I'd
rather see them in a best of five.

Speaker 4 (24:23):
Bring it on, let's do it. Let's go out to Philly,
win the first game, come home, do our thing, and
march on to the Yes, let's go, babe.

Speaker 2 (24:32):
All right, Andy, thanks a lot for listening. Enjoy the
walks out there on the strand. Eight six six nine
eight seven two five seventy is the phone number. Dodgers
beat the Mariners tonight three to two. And just some
news as far as the Dodger bullpen is concerned. Dave
Roberts did acknowledge the fact that brock Stewart season is over.

(24:52):
He went to go see doctor Neil Ella Trosh after
throwing in Arizona, and it was determined that brock Stewart
needs right shoulder surgery and the Dodgers are hopeful that
he can pitch next year, but his season is done.
The Dodgers did not get brock Stewart for next year.
They got him to help them this year, and he

(25:15):
has a shoulder injury history, so it was a risk
and unfortunately for the Dodgers, he is not going to
be part of the postseason this year. Let's go out
to Long Beach. Emma, you're on Dodger Talk with David
vasse Hi.

Speaker 12 (25:31):
Emma, Hi, David, how you doing. Are you recovering from
your hangover last night?

Speaker 1 (25:38):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (25:38):
Yeah, I'm well recovered. I'm ready to get another one
on tonight.

Speaker 12 (25:43):
Awesome, David. I want to say a big shout out
to Rokio Saki. He did fabulous job. He took al caw.

Speaker 2 (25:54):
How you say his last name, Raleigh big dumper.

Speaker 1 (25:59):
Yes.

Speaker 12 (26:00):
I posted on Instagram a video of that young man saying, Okay,
who is that kid? Rokyo Santi? He is okay that strong.
He has come back strong. His confidence is up there
and he is going to show the world who he
is for Los Angeles Dodgers.

Speaker 2 (26:22):
All right, Emma, I don't care how you say his name.
He is going to be a big time factor and
all of a sudden, now the Dodger bullpen and its
construction looks a lot different, and I have to get
props to Andrew Friedman. He reassured me last week that
the time that Sasakia spent in the minor leagues and

(26:46):
in Arizona trying to get a his shoulder healthy and
then b getting proper mechanics down so he wouldn't hurt
his shoulder again and could throw one hundred miles an
hour again is going to provide him with confidence on
the mound. So I was a little skeptical, but Andrew
Friedman proved me wrong again. He knew that Sasaki had

(27:09):
the confidence because he had his one hundred miles an
hour back, and we have seen that in his first
two appearances as a relief pitcher. The one hundred miles
an hour. Knowing he has that again has given him
the confidence to go out there and dominate like he
has in an environment like this. All right, Arizona was

(27:30):
a good easing in shallow end, but tonight he was
in the deep end, facing not only cal Rawley but
also Randio Rosarena in that seventh inning, not to mention
having to do it with forty five thousand plus of
a sellout crowd, here a screaming MVP in that at

(27:51):
bat well he was facing Cal Raleigh. So he sold me,
I'm all in on Roquae Sasaki, and I wouldn't even
mind seeing him close out games. I really wouldn't, He
sold me. I know I should temper my enthusiasm about this,
but I'm all in. And the reason why I'm all

(28:12):
in is because, Frankly, the Dodgers needed another reliever at
the trade deadline. The guy they got is hurt, and
this guy now could be the Dodgers version of two
thousand and two Frankie Rodriguez, who got called up by
the Dodgers or the Angels in September of two thousand

(28:32):
and two and was setting up Troy Percival and nobody
had seen him, nobody had seen his fastball, his slider,
and then all of a sudden he was a huge
part of the Angels winning the World Series and shortening
the game with that great Angels bullpen of Scott Shields,
Brendan Donnelly, Troy Percival, Frankie Rodriguez, Ben Weber, those guys.

(28:58):
He was huge, And says hockey May be that secret
weapon that the Dodgers now have going into October. Let's
squat to West Covina. Zach, you're on Dodger Talk with
David vasse Hi.

Speaker 11 (29:10):
Zach, David Mass, I just want to say thank you
so much for having me on. I've actually called in
a couple of times, and I want to tell you
your journey. I followed it, uh, since I've been growing up.
I'm actually an aspiring broadcaster, and I wanted to talk
to you about the great lay great Vin Scully. Bet

(29:31):
Scully was my idol, and I recently wanted Vin Scully's
scholarship for sportsquadcasting. And I've actually a master's seeking at
cal State Forwards. And I just came all my way
back home from commentating a game our calling stats for
Billa Park versus Americasta for high school football. But what
I wanted to say was, I've been following the Daughters

(29:53):
for a long long time. I've been growing up, and
I'm excited for the postseason. But I want to talk
about your journey because some time you don't understand what
goes to work behind full jors and.

Speaker 2 (30:06):
All right, Zach, I appreciate that, and good luck to
you and your aspiring career and uh go, uh go
Fullerton there. Thank you for the phone call, and appreciate
the love. Nobody cares about my journey, by the way,
it's just about It's about the team. It's about the Dodgers,
it's about the players. It's not about me. My journey
is my journey, and uh you know I'm here right now.

(30:29):
So all I could say is, don't take no for announcer,
and believe in yourself and try to get better every day,
you know, even after a daylight. Yesterday, I'm I'm looking
at the game tape, I'm looking at the video trying
to get better, and I think that's important for everybody.
Eight six six nine seven two five seventy is the
phone number speaking of yesterday. Here it is Kershaw in

(30:54):
the club house, celebrating his final NLS championship, and Blake's
now making a cameo. It's really wet Clayton and congratulations.

Speaker 1 (31:05):
Thanks.

Speaker 13 (31:05):
Hey. I don't know where to go from there, but thanks.

Speaker 1 (31:07):
Hey.

Speaker 2 (31:08):
What does this team mean to you?

Speaker 14 (31:09):
What does it mean to celebrate a NLS championship and
knowing that this is your last season.

Speaker 13 (31:16):
You don't get this very often in your life, you
really don't. You gotta celebrate every single moment and you
never know, man, you just never know. And so getting
to celebrate something that's been very hard for us to
get to. It's just special and this is something special.
So we're gonna celebrate. It's gonna be a lot of fun.
And it's still cold. It's still cold, but it's still

(31:38):
the best feeling of the world. So I'm gonna enjoy
every second of it. I know it.

Speaker 14 (31:43):
You never want to make it about yourself, but there's
Max Mounsey. Every one of your teammates wants you to
feel the burn today.

Speaker 13 (31:50):
Oh I can't wait. I love every second. We're all
gonna feel the burn today. We're all gonna feel it.

Speaker 2 (31:55):
Are you ready for this October? Ready to be in
this group?

Speaker 1 (31:58):
Oh?

Speaker 14 (31:58):
Snell Zilla's got a little fun with that time microphone. Okay,
this team seems to mean a lot to you, and
you seem to mean a lot to them.

Speaker 13 (32:10):
I love this team, man, I love every second of it.
I mean, this is the best part of baseball. And sorry,
I got some in the eye. I took one of
the eye. But it's the best part of baseball. To
get to celebrate with people that have been in it
with you for every step of the way. And yeah,
this one means Marx, this is my last time to
do it, but it's just the best.

Speaker 14 (32:32):
I need you to give Yama Motos some shine. It
feels like he's been the forgotten man in baseball this year.

Speaker 13 (32:38):
He's not forgotten on our team. He's He's been unbelievable today.
It was just another dominant performance. I know Skeen's had
a great year and he rightfully should win the sell on,
but Yama's right.

Speaker 2 (32:48):
There, if not more, and.

Speaker 13 (32:51):
God, he's on our team.

Speaker 2 (32:52):
Do you want your shirt back? No, I don't want
my shirt back. I don't want goggles. I don't want
a shirt. I hardly want pants. Dave all right, Winder
right there before he goes any further.

Speaker 14 (33:03):
Congratulations, eggs Hey, Clayton Kershaw feeling great man.

Speaker 2 (33:08):
It was so it was so great to see him
as happy as he was. And I could just tell
you this, I have seen Kershaw enjoy moments this season
that he never allowed himself to enjoy in his previous
seventeen years. And obviously he knew he was going to
retire before we all found out. But he still has

(33:29):
allowed himself to enjoy the moments and enjoy his teammates,
and enjoy these playing flights, enjoy those clubhouse celebrations. And
a big guy that brings out uh, the kid in
Kershaw is Blake Snell who's a big kid himself. Here
was snell Zilla side by side with a guy that
he looks up to in Clayton Kershaw. Your son, Dave,

(33:50):
wait a year for that? Who get back here? Snell Zilla.
Snell Zilla's over here, ready to go too. Yeah?

Speaker 14 (33:58):
Yeah, man, You were waiting for your opportunity to pitch.
You are waiting for your opportunity to show these group
of teammates what you could do.

Speaker 2 (34:05):
How sweet is this for you?

Speaker 15 (34:07):
No, it's amazing, Winn the vision. That's a good feeling.
But winning a world series, that's to go for a minute,
us to go for the team has to go. But
it's amazing. I'm gonna enjoy this.

Speaker 2 (34:18):
What is Kershaw meant to you? I mean here or here?
He is soaking it all in like it is his
first time. You know, I can only talk in his language.
I love it.

Speaker 15 (34:29):
It's been amazing. He's I mean, we can't say enough
good things about the guy. But he gonna teach me
how this works. You know it's celebrating. I don't want
it in my eyes but already having it hurt. But no,
you're gonna teach me how this is done and we're
gonna keep winning.

Speaker 2 (34:47):
Blake, you signed here to be part of this.

Speaker 14 (34:50):
Do you feel like you guys haven't even scratched the
surface on how good you can?

Speaker 7 (34:55):
Bet?

Speaker 15 (34:55):
I think we're gonna really turn the corner now from
this point forward on in each other being you know,
the best team as we can be to find a
way to win every game.

Speaker 2 (35:04):
So I'm excited for what's the code?

Speaker 14 (35:07):
Only dogs show up in October, and we got a
dog right here in snail Zilla.

Speaker 15 (35:12):
Hey, can't hide. It's out there. So let's go. Let's
go be great.

Speaker 14 (35:17):
Hey, you've been great and we only look forward to
it continuing in October.

Speaker 2 (35:21):
Thanks for the bath, appreciate it, you needed it. You
look the little dry. Okay, let's get in there with
your teammate. Let's go enjoy our favorite month. Okay, I
love it. That's October, no doubt, that's October. And look,
you know how much I believed in Blake Snell and
how much I thought the Dodgers should do everything they
could even last year to sign Blake Snell and to

(35:45):
have him in the Dodger Clubhouse wearing the Dodger blue,
having him ready to pitch in October, and I believe
he should be the game one starter on Tuesday. Is
really special to see him shine on this day because,
like I said, he is the most underappreciated, most disrespected

(36:05):
two time Cy Young Award winner out there, and the
only way he could change that is by doing it
on the biggest stage for the Dodgers. That'll do it
for us tonight on Dodger Talk. We'll end it right
there with the two lefties bat the two goats right there.
That's right. That's what Snell was saying. You got to
talk to the goat Kershaw. And he started making goat

(36:28):
noises at Kershaw. And he actually had me do that
last week at home. He whispered in my ear, hes
all like hey, hey, talk to him in his language,
and he said, do the goat noise, and I started
doing it to Kershaw and he just laughed right in
front of his oldest son, Charlie. It's it's been a
running thing for a while. Anyway. Tomorrow, Tyler Glass Now

(36:48):
will be on the mound for the Dodgers. He's four
and three with an era at three three zero, three
and a half. If you missed our pregame conversation with
Tyler Glass now, you can find that on the iHeartRadio apps.
Going up against Logan Gilbert pregame is at five thirty
with Morongo Casino Dodgers on deck. First pitch from Seattle
with Rick Monday and Tim Neverett from T Mobile Park

(37:10):

Big Day Ohio State at Washington Huskies. You know, snail
Zilla wanted to be a Husky right went straight to
the pros thinking about heading over there just to get
a flavor of what college football, big time college football
is like. Anyway, Thanks to Colin Ee back at our

(37:31):
Burbank Studios, Thanks to Dwayne McDonald out here at T
Mobile Park in Seattle, and thanks to you for listening.
