Speaker 1 (00:01):
One thing about this gem is the invisible and tangibles
that they have.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
This team is really becoming a family.

Speaker 3 (00:09):
Let's not play one on Tom. Let's lend it.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
I love writing the guys after the show and just
thank you.

Speaker 4 (00:14):
Give me all your attention, your fire, and not a
piss this.

Speaker 5 (00:17):
This is world champion, Dodgers, world champion thing for a small.

Speaker 6 (00:22):
Soft time they get a people what they want to
die too in a row two is special. I'm like, yeah,
it's not a headache, y'alls. One of a cor This
ball's gone. You ready to go? Hell time go to
the South, grab your phone to.

Speaker 5 (00:36):
Get in on the show called eight six six nine
eighty seven two five seven. I'll come to the show
and now your host of Dodger Talk, David Vasse.

Speaker 7 (00:46):
We are live at Dodgers Stadium. After the Dodgers handle
their business and beat the Rockies tonight by a final
score of seven to two. Welcome the Dodger Talk David
Vass with you until eleven o'clock tonight here on AM
five to seventy LA Sports. We do have lines open
at eight sixty six nine eight seven two five seventy.

(01:09):
We will hear from Emmit Sheen coming up in a moment,
we will check in with Jose Mota. We will celebrate
Sandy Cofax's sixtieth anniversary of throwing the only perfect game
in his career or in Dodger franchise history. And we'll
have to get to what is ahead for the Dodgers

(01:30):
in the next seventeen games to end the season. So
we'll do all that coming up between now and eleven
o'clock on Dodger Talk Live from Dodger Stadium. But tonight
it was about Emmit Sheen, and it was about the
optimism of seeing Teoscar Hernandez smile and hit two home

(01:51):
runs tonight. But Emmit Sheen was spectacular and continuing to
do what the Dodger starters have done leading into his
start tonight, because you look at what has taken place
going back to last Saturday, despite the disappointment of losing
a game that Yamamoto was one out away from having

(02:12):
a no hitter, he got into the ninth inning, Kershaw
got into the sixth inning, and now Glass now pitched
seven no hit innings last night. She hint tonight five
perfect innings, finishes seven innings with nine strikeouts and only
one earned run. And like I mentioned during the Clubhouse show,

(02:33):
gotta give props to Dave Roberts because in spring training
the media always asks about certain players, and he said,
watch out.

Speaker 6 (02:43):
For Emmit Sheen. Emit Shean is.

Speaker 7 (02:47):
My second half sleeper, and he has proven to be true.
I mean he knew, and Emmit Sheen is certainly a
big time weapon. Obviously, we talk about Yamamoto, we talk
about about Snell, we talk about Kershaw, we talk about
Otani and Glass now, but Emmit Sheen's gonna be a

(03:07):
big time weapon for the Dodgers. And if you're still
concerned about the Dodger bullpen, and I understand those concerns.

Speaker 6 (03:15):
Maybe they will be eased with.

Speaker 7 (03:17):
Emit Sheen pitching in some form out of the Dodger bullpen,
in some role that would change the complexion of things.
He and Justin Robleski pitching out of the bullpen. I
know it would be the first time that they're getting
real playoff taste. But at this point in time, the

(03:38):
Dodgers may be forced to turn to those two young
men that have really come into their own this season.
Eight six, six, nine, seven two five seventy is the
phone number let's head downstairs right now to hear from
Emit Shean on sports Net LA.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Thank you.

Speaker 8 (03:55):
Yeah, I felt good. I felt like a shuting a
slider pretty well to the glove side and then trying
to keep them off the heater as much as possible.
But yeah, it felt really good.

Speaker 6 (04:04):
With that slider. The usage was up in this one.
How has that pitch just evolved.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
For you and how you've kind of used it been
more reliable and reliant on it.

Speaker 8 (04:13):
I think it's like the more I throw it, the
easier it gets to get it to that spot. Yeah,
I think it's a big It's an important pitch for
me for sure, just because I'm usually pretty fastball heavy,
so keeping them off that with the siders is pretty important.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
What the rest of the rotation did the last time through?

Speaker 6 (04:29):
Was there any competition? Like glasnow had the No. One
hitter through? So when I got into it to myself.

Speaker 8 (04:34):
No, I wasn't really thinking about it. But it's been
incredible what those guys have been doing. Yoshi's start and
then classes start and kersh, they've all been unreal.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
Did you know what you had going?

Speaker 6 (04:45):
I mean, were you following?

Speaker 1 (04:46):
Not?

Speaker 6 (04:46):
Really?

Speaker 1 (04:47):
Not?

Speaker 6 (04:48):
You didn't know that you'd like that they hit a
base runner after five.

Speaker 8 (04:51):
I probably knew, but I was like definitely not thinking
about it. Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
That's the way I answer nineteen strikeouts last two home appearances.

Speaker 6 (05:03):
Just kind of what has been the uptick in the
strike out day.

Speaker 8 (05:06):
I think just execution has been a lot better, trying
to stay around the zone more, trying to get rid
of the uncompetitive pitches as much as I can, and yeah,
just keeping him off balance.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
Yeah, that's about kind of like the new hitters in
the pervict games.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
Is that kind of contagious and just like when you
see a guy go out there going into your next start.

Speaker 9 (05:21):
Is that kind of just kind of xt some motive
to kind of go out there and do it.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
I don't know.

Speaker 8 (05:26):
I definitely like seeing Glass what he did yesterday against
the same lineup and trying to pick up on certain
stuff that worked, even though our arsenals are a little different,
I think helps a lot. But yeah, just seeing him
have success was definitely big.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
And your last two home starts been really good. Like
you said, does that confidence like is the confidence feed
on itself?

Speaker 10 (05:47):
Oh? Maybe?

Speaker 8 (05:47):
Yeah, I think I just feel comfortable out there. So
that's definitely something that helps for sure.

Speaker 7 (05:54):
All Right, there's Emitchian on sports at LA and the
man that broke up the perfect game was none other
than Kyle Caros, who singled the left field leading off
the sixth inning and scored the first Rockies run only
Rockies run against Emit Shean in that sixth inning, a

(06:15):
little questionable defense, but certainly Kyle Caros seems to have
Emit Sheen's number because Keros hit his first major league
home run a couple of weeks ago against Emmett at
Corus Field. So I guess there's a new budding rivalry.
And Kyle was our pregame guest today. You can find

(06:38):
that on the iHeartRadio app and also on the Am
five seventy LA sports Instagram page. Interesting enough, Emit Shean,
Kyle Carros, and Jack Dryer, along with Clayton Kershaw, ran
into each other this morning on the streets of Manhattan Beach.
That's right, that's karros turf and those three Dodgers were

(07:02):
on his turf. My understanding is that Kershaw has taken
in Jack Dryer and Emit Sheen for the week during
this homestand while his family is back in Dallas. But
they're getting the boot after this. But how about that
Kershaw taking in these two rookies to give them a
taste of the fresh Pacific ocean. Daniels Jewelers presents the

(07:24):
home run forecast. Go to AM five to seventy LA
Sports dot Com use the keyword home run for your
chance to win a fifty dollars Daniels Jeweler's gift card
predicting the number of home runs in the next game.

Speaker 6 (07:35):
Daniels Jewelers own the dream.

Speaker 7 (07:38):
Eight six six, nine, eight seven two five seventy is
the phone number. Dodgers have a two game lead over
the Padres and Mookie Betts is red hot in his
last thirty games. And don't look now is ta Oscar
Hernandez back? Hopefully this was a preview of things to come.
Let's go out to Sunset Beach. Devin on Dodger Talk

(08:00):
with David Vasse lead us off, Devon, Hey.

Speaker 9 (08:04):
Days, damn big you Uh yeah, a great game?

Speaker 3 (08:08):
Can you hear me?

Speaker 6 (08:10):
I can? I heard a lot of You're a big
fan of mine. That was really clear.

Speaker 9 (08:17):
All right, Oh yeah, great game, Mookie Bag, tale bag.
Everything's good. But like left fielder is still kind of
a problem for me. What do you think?

Speaker 6 (08:30):
Why uh do you not even want to say his name?

Speaker 4 (08:35):
Oh Florida, Oh Florida tonight, come on, Den, Oh for Florida.
But no, no, it's I mean playoffs are coming, Like,
I don't do you want him last day coming?

Speaker 7 (08:51):
I don't think he will be your starting left fielder
in the postseason, Devin. And in fact, I was gonna
bring this up tonight. Tommy Edmond is expecting to be
activated for tomorrow's game. And when Tommy Edmund's activated, there's
a very good chance he'll be starting in center field.
So Tomorrow night and watch for that starting lineup. It's

(09:12):
gonna be interesting to see how Dave Roberts and the
Dodgers have decided to move forward with their outfield. Is
Taoscar Hernandez going to be in right field? I have
a guess that it's going to be ta Oscar in
left field and Paz in right field and Tommy Edmund
in center field, or some combination of Tommy Edmund and

(09:36):
keyk Hernandez somewhere in there. I mean, Max months, he
hasn't had a day off since he came back two
on one off key K at third. You know, I
see Keyk in there, I see t O in there.

Speaker 6 (09:49):
But I'm I'm.

Speaker 7 (09:50):
Really curious to see how they line up the outfield
tomorrow with Tommy back.

Speaker 9 (09:55):
Yeah, I mean I thought key K should have been
playing from day one after that that world sho. He's
in playoff perforemance and what he's done for the franch
I mean for the team. I think he was deserving
a starting chance right Like, he's got his chances more.

Speaker 7 (10:09):
But you know about he he's he's getting starts, but
he was hurt for a long time and there easing
him in his roles to come off the bench and
make spot starts against lefties and then be mister October
like he has been. So he'll get his opportunities. Thanks
for the phone call, Devin. Yes, tomorrow night is going
to be very interesting. I'm not a big look at

(10:31):
the starting lineup guy, but tomorrow Night's starting lineup when
it comes out, I will be waiting for that starting
lineup to see what the lineup looks like in the
outfield with Tommy Edmond back, if in fact he is
going to return, like Dave Roberts said, And where is
Paz playing. I would venture to say right field and

(10:52):
against the lefty. Ta Oscar Hernandez will be in the lineup,
maybe back in his twenty twenty four home of left field,
and is that what's going to happen moving forward? That's
the way I would line it up and against the lefty.
With Munsey just coming back from an oblique injury, very
good chance he sits tomorrow against the lefty Freeland and

(11:13):
keyk Hernandez starts at third base. Let's go out to
Long Beach. Bob, you're on Dodger Talk with David vasse Hi.

Speaker 3 (11:20):
Bob, Hey, David, how you doing man?

Speaker 2 (11:23):
Great game today last today?

Speaker 6 (11:25):
Hey, yes it is. It's good to be the last
place team.

Speaker 3 (11:29):
Absolute, absolutely, But a couple of quick comments and.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
Then fighting Kershaw. You know he's been outstanding.

Speaker 3 (11:37):
He has a ten and two, eleven and two record.

Speaker 11 (11:40):
I hope they don't get rid of him next year,
you know, don't re know it's time and Migula.

Speaker 6 (11:45):
Get rid of him.

Speaker 7 (11:46):
I don't think they're getting rid of Kershaw. He'll he'll
be the one that dictates when it's time to go home.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
That's great.

Speaker 6 (11:53):
He's had the dodgerst that clear.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
And Miguel Rojas, he's a leader, he's a I love
the guy, you know. And just one more concern.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
I have a concern.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
My only concern is a Dodger bullpen. I'm not worried
about the hitting Anne, but the bullpen. It really I don't.

Speaker 9 (12:09):
Know, David, but that's it.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
That's all I got.

Speaker 6 (12:12):
Yeah, Hey, I'm with you.

Speaker 7 (12:14):
I think there's a lot of people a little concerned
about the Dodger bullpen. But once that calendar turns to October,
things change. Remember in twenty twenty one, Will Smith of
the Atlanta Braves, he was not having a great season
and all of a sudden turned into one of the
best relievers of that October run for Atlanta. Now, I

(12:35):
will say this, as I'm writing this out my top
four Dodger relievers as far as Trush Tree goes, Vesia.

Speaker 6 (12:46):
Dryer, Blake Trining.

Speaker 7 (12:49):
I was gonna put Michael Kopek in there, but Michael
Kopek has pitched once since coming off the IL. Is
there something going on again with Michael Kope? I mean
I saw him before the game in the clubhouse, and
you know, we shared a laugh together.

Speaker 6 (13:06):
Didn't seem like there was anything wrong, But it is.

Speaker 7 (13:09):
A little suspicious that Michael Kopek hasn't pitched in a
game in quite some time and they had Kirby Yates
on the mound in that type of game. Now, I
know it was a seven to one game at that point,
but you always hear about Dave Roberts talking about giving
guys work that haven't pitched that much. Well, Michael Kopek

(13:31):
hasn't pitched much at all, and you just hope that
he's okay. But after Vessia Dryron trinin you might be
surprised by my answer. As far as the trush tree goes,
I'm gonna include Tanner Scott in there because players around
the Dodgers have convinced me that he's run into some
bad luck. He's executed some pretty good pitches, but just

(13:56):
hasn't got the results that you would expect with the
pitches that he's executed.

Speaker 6 (14:00):
And so I'm gonna take.

Speaker 7 (14:01):
The word of Dodger players that I respect and put
Tanner Scott in my front four for the Dodger bullpen
at this point in time. And by the way, the
last time Michael Kopek pitched in a game, it was
last Friday. Now, the Dodger starters have done really well.
Maybe that's part of it, but something to keep an
eye on for sure. Eight six six nine eight seven

(14:23):
two five seventy is the phone number. Dodgers beat the
Rockies tonight seven to two. Eddie and Rancho's Palace, Verdes
Petros Territory.

Speaker 6 (14:32):
How you doing. You're on Dodger Talk.

Speaker 3 (14:35):
Yeah, you're on that hill with Petros. Yes I am, yeah, yeah,
I've seen him here and there. But uh, and I've
seen the dad too, a good friend of yours.

Speaker 10 (14:47):
Do right.

Speaker 7 (14:49):
Oh, the first text I had this morning was from
John Papadecas informing me that James Outman hit a home
run last night for the Twins.

Speaker 3 (14:58):
Oh see yeah, eas know keeps going and uh that's good.
That's good that you keep in touch with him too.
But David, yeah, you do a great job there with
the Dodger Talking.

Speaker 10 (15:13):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (15:14):
I just wanted to tell you that, Uh, you know,
who can we have. We have the best coach manager,
Dave Roberts. You can't ask for anybody better than him
to lead the Dodgers the way they that he's done
so far this year, in the past years. And you know, Uh,

(15:34):
you can't name anybody else right now that's better than him. Okay,
But the thing I wanted to get to was, uh,
you know, my wife and I were talking about ti
Oscar just before he hit that home run and whether
if he's going to be a Dodger next year or not.
We don't know about the contract that he's in right now,
but uh, we just hope that they keep him. You know,

(15:58):
I know, he's like second on the team. I'm hitting
home runs, so so it'd be nice to keep him
one more year at least, I don't know, so just
stuck with him.

Speaker 7 (16:08):
He's got two more years. He's got two more years
left on his contract.

Speaker 6 (16:12):
Eddie.

Speaker 7 (16:12):
I was a big advocate for the Dodgers to resign
Tai Oscar. He had a good start to the season,
but it hasn't gone his way for whatever reason. But
all of a sudden, now it feels like after he
had kind of got challenged at course Field a couple
of weeks ago, he seems to have uh turned it

(16:33):
on a little bit more and hopefully tonight is a
sign of things to come.

Speaker 6 (16:38):
Gotta run, Eddie, Thank you for the phone call. Appreciate it.

Speaker 7 (16:40):
Eight six six nine, seven, two, five seventy Yeah, ta
Oscar Hernandez. Tonight his biggest game in quite some time,
a two home run game for him, and I love
seeing him. Watched that first one and he certainly deserved it.
That got a That must have felt good for Taoscar.
Mookie Bets doubled and hit a two run home run tonight,

(17:01):
and Freddie Freeman homered for the twentieth time this season.
He has hit twenty home runs in twelve different seasons
in his major league career. Nine out of the last
ten years he has hit at least twenty home runs.
The only year that he didn't in the last decade
was that sixty game season back in twenty twenty. Hey,

(17:23):
consider this, The Dodgers just played the Rockies again, and
this triggered me that Herman Marquez was on the mound tonight,
and he was on the mound on that fateful afternoon
game won sixty three. In twenty eighteen between the Dodgers
and Rockies. It was Walker Buehler versus Herman Marquez. The

(17:45):
Dodgers won Game one sixty three and twenty eighteen five
to two. Max Munsey and Cody Bellinger each hit two
big two run home runs. It was somewhat Max Munsey's
coming out party to let you know so that he
can perform in big games. And it certainly was Walker
Bueller's coming out party. Uh, pitching a big game in

(18:09):
that day at Dodgers Stadium. But I look into this,
the Dodgers have maintained winning since Game one sixty three
and twenty eighteen. The Rockies have not, can you believe?
Including tonight. Since Game one sixty three and twenty eighteen,
the Rockies have six hundred and fifteen losses. Since Game

(18:36):
won sixty three, where they pushed the Dodgers, the eventual
National League champions in twenty eighteen, to a Game one
sixty three, the Rockies are three hundred and ninety nine
and six hundred and fifteen. They're almost three hundred games
under five hundred, six hundred and fifteen losses since game

(19:00):
Game one sixty three and twenty eighteen. Herman Marquez was
on the mound and was the losing pitcher that day
to Walker Bueller, Cody Bellinger, and Max Munsey, and the
Rockies lost their one hundred and fifth game tonight. They
have had three different one hundred loss seasons since Game

(19:24):
won sixty three and twenty eighteen. Just think about that,
in the last fourteen seasons, the Dodgers have taken on
all comers and have had the staying power that the
Giants have not had, that the Rockies have not had,
that the Diamondbacks have not had.

Speaker 6 (19:43):
Think about that.

Speaker 7 (19:45):
I mean, with Herman Marquez on the mountain, That's what
I was thinking about, how these two franchises have gone
in completely different directions since Game one, sixty three and
twenty eighteen. Eight sixty six, nine, eight seven, two, five
seventy is the phone number. We're gonna take a time
out here on Dodger Talk. When we continue more of

(20:05):
your phone calls. Also, we'll check in with Jose Mota.
We'll let you know what's ahead for the Dodgers in
the final seventeen games of the regular season, and we'll
celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of one of the greatest games
pitched in baseball history. The Dodgers get the win, seven
to two over the Rockies. They now have a two
game lead over the Padres in the NL. Weast right

(20:28):
here on five to seventy LA Sports.

Speaker 5 (20:37):
Dodger Talk is available on AM five to seventy LA
sports dot Com hand on the iHeartRadio app. Back to
more Dodger talk with Dodger insider David Basse.

Speaker 11 (20:49):
Six runs on eight hits for the Dodgers, three of
those eight hits home run and this one hit dap
till l FPL it is headed back to the wall.

Speaker 6 (20:57):
It is gone.

Speaker 11 (21:00):
Taioscar Hernandez his second of the night, twenty third.

Speaker 6 (21:05):
Of the season.

Speaker 11 (21:08):
Taioscar Hernandez three hits in the ball game, two of
them home runs, and the Dodgers now lead this ball
game seven to one.

Speaker 7 (21:20):
Ti Oscar Hernandez, the love of the game was back tonight.
He never lost it, but all of a sudden may
have found his swing. Taoscar Hernandez three for four tonight
with two home runs.

Speaker 6 (21:34):
That was the second of two.

Speaker 7 (21:36):
It came in the eighth inning, and Mooki Betts's resurgence
in the last month continued tonight as Mooki doubled and
also hit a two run home run. Mookie Betts hitting
three nineteen in his last thirty games with six home
runs and twenty one RBIs eight six, six, nine eighty
seven two five seventy is the phone number We'll get

(21:58):
back to your phone calls in a moment, but first, it's.

Speaker 5 (22:01):
Tough to go around the horn with Hosean mos.

Speaker 7 (22:06):
All right, Jose, you gave us some sobering numbers a
couple of nights ago regarding Taoscar Hernandez's batting average against fastballs. Well,
tonight he hit his first home run off a ninety
four fastball, and then the second one that we just
heard was on a slider. I want to say he's back.
Give us hope that ta Oscar is back.

Speaker 2 (22:28):
The hope I have is that ti Oscar has been
making a very conscious effort in using his legs. So
you remember how Gavin Lux always talked about getting grounded
because Uncle Oggi would tell him. Remember that, Yeah, Well,
to Oscar's right on that page right now, I'm staying grounded.
Biggest indication to me is the tenth pitch at bat

(22:49):
that he saw in the second ending when he had
benefair base guy ended up scoring on a wall of pitch,
will Smith. But I saw the truck out of the pitches.
I saw him not jumping, I saw the hand coming
to the and he just got to go back to that. Plus,
remember Dave, what was the last time we saw Taskin
Arnandez get a single to right field, which is like
a stamp on him last year, big RBI situations, he
goes the other way. Hopefully there's a good stuff, but

(23:11):
he need it.

Speaker 1 (23:11):
Man.

Speaker 2 (23:11):
It was like that smile was lighting up all the
stadium there tonight.

Speaker 6 (23:16):
Yeah, he's a.

Speaker 7 (23:16):
Fan favorite and that changes the complexion of the Dodgers offense.
If Oscar Hernandez can be twenty twenty four ta Oscar Hernandez.

Speaker 2 (23:27):
Just a little bit, it will be just great. I
think it came down to also trusting knowing how the
league is approaching you. I mean, fastballs are the name
of the game. He's watching seventy seven five percent of
pitch of B fastballs that he's missing, So hopefully this
gives him the confidence to know that he does not
have to overswing. He needs to be grounded on those legs,
trust those legs, have the balance, and use those hands

(23:49):
as he has done throughout his career, and at the
same time know that he does not have to carry
the ball club now that things are coming back with
Will Smith and Max Munsey and then Tommy Evan and
so forth. So I think mental it was a huge
I mean release and a lot of weights out of
his shoulder tonight. But he needs to keep it going.
He needs keep I think the off day, I shouldn't
call it off ding the benching on Sunday was also

(24:10):
good for him.

Speaker 7 (24:12):
Yeah, that's happened a couple of different times. So hopefully
he gets things going here along with Andy Poe has
and you know, speaking of Will Smith, he was back
behind the plate his first at bat he doubled. It
was not a fastball that he hit, but good sign
that he was able to turn on the ball and
pull it. Did you see any residual effects of that

(24:34):
right hand swelling?

Speaker 2 (24:36):
Not at all? Watching Will Smith hit outside for a
couple of days. The ball's coming off, it's bad.

Speaker 1 (24:40):
Nice.

Speaker 2 (24:41):
He's a guy that does not He needs to swing
very hard and has such a great idea about the
strikes on how he his hands needs to work. And
he's a president. I mean, this guy still has a
four or five on base percentage click coming into tonight,
and he's gonna go out there and prolong innings and
give you a chance to be a tough out, a
tough at bet and his refreshing to see him also

(25:01):
obviously he doesn't want to fall behind. And what Ben
Robert did behind the point, he did a very fine
job himself today with Emmit Sheen, so welcome back. Well,
hopefully we'll see this lineup stick together and guys competing
for at bats and competing in the battles box for
the next seventeen plus.

Speaker 7 (25:16):
You know, Emma Sheen tonight ninety three pitches, it was
slider fastball tonight. For the most part, Jose, that combination
plays really well out of the bullpen. It feels like
Shean might start transitioning to that type of role. And
that's that's an incredible weapon to have in October.

Speaker 6 (25:35):
If you have Emmit Sheen coming out of the bullpen.

Speaker 2 (25:38):
Oh, Dave, you know it very well. I mean through
the years, you know that you cannot script your bullpens
in the postseason. And when we have somebody like Shean
who was explosive fastball. He went to ninety seven today
a couple of times when he needed to, and the
combination of a power pitch like a slider, And on
top of that, if he needs to go out there
and just see it a lineup a second or third time,

(25:59):
he has a changeup it's all a plus. Now. She
is a kid that I had a chance to sit
out with him recently in one of those kids for
social media, and he talks about his legs and the
drive and understanding more about his body. And you know
quite well, David, as he's done so many interviews with
the guys that come after surgeries, they understand more and
more about the importance of building everything around that does

(26:21):
not put more stress on his arm. But he is
thrown so nicely, so fluiently, that it's almost effortless. But
the ball is really exploding out of his hand. And
I think I learned from him to the fact that,
as he said, you know during the sound by today,
the more he throws that pitch, and more comfortable he feels,
because a field pitch that you've got to have, sometimes
you don't find it in the bullpen. You find it

(26:42):
on the mail because there's somebody sending a batter's box
that forces you to make it better. But overall, his combination,
as you mentioned, will be as such a plus wherever
he ends up, hopefully in October, knowing that he's dealing
with confidence and he's not afraid of anybody, and his
mechanics are so nice and clean, and even at a
time in the seventh any when after he walked, Jordan
Beck is kind of getting away from him and he

(27:03):
was dropping his elbows like he slowed the clock down. Say, okay,
I need to get back on top and make sure
I finish off and ended up, you know, punching out
three guys.

Speaker 3 (27:11):
Another thing, all.

Speaker 6 (27:13):
Right, Jose motor before I'll let you go.

Speaker 7 (27:14):
Tommy Edmund is expected to be activated tomorrow, likely starting
in center field. How do you see the Dodgers outfield
aligneman tomorrow night against Kyle Freeland.

Speaker 2 (27:25):
I see Month see perhaps not playing. I see kick
in there, I see Pahes, I see ti Oscar.

Speaker 3 (27:32):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (27:32):
From there on, it's going to be quite interesting because
where do you see?

Speaker 6 (27:36):
Where do you see Paz in Taoscar My best.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
Arm and more range goes to right field. Paz, yes,
after endings to go back to left field because there's
nothing wrong with that and taking a little bit off
of his legs and left field will be only a plus.
Knowing that also Tommy happen his back and they was
they were not going to bring him back until he
proved playing center field. He's gonna have to covert ground

(28:01):
because of the ankle issue. So when he's back, he's back,
and obviously there's gonna be some days he's gonna be
slowed down when he's still gonna have the affer having
kick out there in having pies at centerfield too.

Speaker 7 (28:11):
All Right, it'll be interesting to see the Dodgers starting
lineup tomorrow and moving forward in the outfield. Jose, look
forward to seeing you tomorrow, Snell Zilla day. He has
a no hitter under his belt already, maybe a second
one coming tomorrow night.

Speaker 2 (28:26):
I look forward to Snell to continue on the line
that everybody has places for him right now. It's time.

Speaker 7 (28:31):
Yeah, no doubt there he goes. Jose Mota part of
the Dodgers Spanish radio broadcast. You could check out some
of those videos he has with Dodger players on Lost Dodgers,
the Spanish Instagram account of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Speaker 6 (28:47):
Eight six six.

Speaker 7 (28:47):
Nine eight seven two five seventy is the phone number.

Speaker 6 (28:51):
Now.

Speaker 7 (28:51):
The Dodgers have seventeen games left in the regular season,
and it's not an easy road to the finish line
because they're going to be playing teams that have something
to play for starting Friday, night in San Francisco when
they will be facing the San Francisco Giants, who all
of a sudden are in the playoff picture. And I

(29:14):
did tell our notorious caller Ken from Newport Beach the
other night that if the Giants made the postseason, I'd
run a kayak and be out there in mccovey's cove
at some point. So I'm hoping that doesn't happen for
a number of reasons now, but all of a sudden,
Dang Ken and Newport Beach was right. The Giants are

(29:35):
streaking and they are only two games back of the
Mets for the final wildcard spot in the National League.
And the Dodgers are playing the Giants seven times out
of the last seventeen games of the season, and the
Giants have lined up their rotations, so Logan Web and
Robbie Ray will be facing the Dodgers this weekend at

(29:58):
Oracle Park. The Dodgers will have Clayton Kershaw and Yamamoto
pitching in one of those three games, as well, possibly
glass Now in the final game of that series. But
I like the Dodgers' chances with Yamamoto and Kershaw and
glass Now to cool off the Giants. But it's not
gonna be easy. All of a sudden, Rafael Devers has

(30:20):
caught fire. Willia Domis now has twenty eight home runs
after hitting a three run home run. So the Dodgers
last seventeen games, seven of them are against the Giants,
three this weekend and then four more when the Dodgers
return home for their final Homestand in addition to the Giants,

(30:42):
the Dodgers will be playing the Phillies next week here
at Dodgers Stadium next Monday, opening up the final homestand
of the regular season. The Phillies magic number to clinch
the NL East is at nine games, and I got
news for you, it's gonna be a long shot for
the Dodgers to catch the Phillies. They're four games back

(31:05):
in the lost column. There's a very good chance that
even if the Dodgers do win the NLS, they will
be hosting a best of three wild card series here
at Dodgers Stadium. Right now, it would be the Mets.
But like I said, the Giants are streaking. But if
the Dodgers, you know, put the Giants in their place

(31:25):
over the weekend, it's gonna be very tough for them
to be able to catch the Mets, it'll be a
little too little, too late. The Diamondbacks are four and
a half games back of the Mets. The Reds, who
beat the Padres tonight, are three games back. So starting
this weekend, three against the Giants, Then the Dodgers return
home for a seven game homestand three against the Phillies,

(31:48):
four against the Giants, and then they close out the
regular season on the road, three in the Desert against
the Diamondbacks, who love to play spoiler against the Dodgers,
and then the final three games of the regular season
are in Seattle against the ALS leading Seattle Mariners.

Speaker 6 (32:10):
Last time I checked, they were leading.

Speaker 7 (32:12):
No, they're in second place by a game, so they
got a lot to play for. Those last three games
are going to mean a lot, possibly for both the
Dodgers and Mariners. So not an easy road to the
finish line. But if the Dodgers play like the Dodgers
these last seventeen games, the other team should be more
concerned that those guys are coming to town more than

(32:35):
the Dodgers being concerned about who they're playing, especially with
the way they're starting. Pitching has been so dominant again tonight.
Emmitt Sheehan seven innings, nine strikeouts. Let's go out to
North Hollywood. James, You're on Dodger Talk Live from Dodgers Stadium.

Speaker 9 (32:51):
Hi, James, Hey David.

Speaker 1 (32:54):
First of all, so great to see some bats come
into life tonight. And Max Munsey is super close. All
these deep flyballs, he is right there. I can't wait
to see it. But I wanted to chime in on
your trust tree talk for the Dodgers' bullpen in the postseason, if.

Speaker 6 (33:10):
I may, Yeah, who's your trust tree?

Speaker 1 (33:14):
Well, I definitely agree with Vesia and and Dryer from
the left side trying to track record and the stuff
is just so filthy. I think what we saw on
Yamamoto's night was truly an anomaly. And then, like you said,
if Kopek is in fact healthy, he was so good
for Estelena stretch in the postseason last year. We got

(33:37):
to get him some more work to see if it's
going to be Henriquez or Coopek as our you know,
primary flame thrower out there. But I think the big
difference is if you've got Emachian as a right hander
and Robleski as a left hander, because in the postseason
You know, starters don't get a long leash if you've
got two guys from either arm that can come in

(34:00):
and cover innings that are pitching the way those two
guys are. I can't emphasize the importance of those two
guys out of the six you know that I just mentioned.

Speaker 7 (34:11):
Yeah, like I mentioned, She and n Robleski are very
interesting relief options for the Dodgers in the postseason. They're
gonna be a factor, and it will be their first
taste of it. We'll see how they respond. Thanks for
the phone call, James, appreciate it. Eight six six nine
eighty seven two five seventy is the phone number. Dodgers
beat the Rockies tonight seven to two. The Reds beat

(34:33):
the Padres, so the Dodgers have a two game lead
with seventeen games to go in the NL West. Emi
she and tonight pitch five perfect innings. He did not
pitch a perfect game on the sixtieth anniversary of Sandy
Kofax pitching his one and only perfect game, his fourth
no hitter of his career on this night sixty years

(34:57):
ago against the Chicago Cubs, and it was cool to
see before the game, the Dodgers pulling out the archives
and playing that final inning the way Vince Scully called
it on Dodgers Radio that night sixty years ago, right
here at Dodgers Stadium. We're not gonna go through the
whole inning, but here was the finale to a great

(35:19):
night at Dodgers Stadium for one of the greatest pitchers
in baseball history, Sandy Kofax, completing his perfect game.

Speaker 6 (35:27):
With Vince Scully on the call.

Speaker 10 (35:30):
It is nine forty six pm, two and two, the
Harvey gain one strike away, Sandy into his wind up.
Here's the pitch swung out in this the perfect game
on the scoreboard and right field. It is nine to
forty six pm in the City of the Angels, Los Angeles, California,

(35:53):
and a crowd of twenty nine thirty nine just sitting
in to see the only pitcher in baseball history the
herald four no hit, no run games. He has done
it four straight years and now he capped it on
his fourth no hitter. He made it up perfect game,

(36:14):
and Sandy Kopas, whose name will always remind you of strikeouts,
did it with a flurish.

Speaker 6 (36:20):
He struck out.

Speaker 10 (36:21):
The last six consecutive vatity so when he wrote his
name in capital letters in the record books. That case
stands out even more than the oufais.

Speaker 6 (36:32):
What a great call after the final out.

Speaker 7 (36:35):
I mean, we've heard that iconic call of Vin Scully,
you know, describing the final out of Harvey Keanes striking out,
But not too many times have you heard what Vin
Scully said after that. So that's part of the reason
why we wanted you to hear that part of it
as well. And by the way, Sandy Kofax finished with
two thousand, three hundred and ninety six career strikeouts. He

(36:59):
struck out over three hundred batters three separate times in
his career. And there's a reason why there's a statue
of him in the centerfield plaza right next to the
great Jackie Robinson, one of the all time great Dodgers
in baseball history. And can you believe that his career
ended at age thirty because of an arthritic right or

(37:23):
left elbow. He would have had Tommy John surgery if
it was two thy twenty five, but obviously doctor Job
had not perfected that procedure yet, and his career ended
at the age of thirty after going twenty seven and
nine with an ERA of one seventy three in nineteen
sixty six, but sixty seasons ago, Sandy Kofs pitched the

(37:47):
one and only perfect game in Dodger franchise history, and
also the only perfect game in his illustrious career. Four
no hitters for Sandy Kofax in his career. And I
don't know if Sandy downloads the show wherever he may
be listening, or maybe he stays up late to listen

(38:07):
to Dodger Talk. But man, we miss you, Sandy, and
you will always have a place in Dodger history. Can't
wait to hopefully see you at Dodger Stadium soon.

Speaker 6 (38:19):
That'll do it for us.

Speaker 7 (38:20):
Tonight on Dodger Talk Tomorrow, the Dodgers will be facing
Kyle Freeland. He's fourned fourteen with an ERA of five
ten Freeland and his last outing pitch eight shutout innings
against the Padres. He's going up against Blake Snell Snell's
Zilla Day tomorrow night. He's three and four with an
ERA of three nineteen Morongo Casino. Dodgers on Deck begins

(38:43):
at six o'clock tomorrow with first pitch at seven ten,
and Tommy Edmund is expected to be in the Dodgers
starting lineup tomorrow as he will be activated. Thanks to
Colin Ye back at our Burbank studios, thanks to Dwayne
McDonald out here at Dodgers Stadium, and.

Speaker 6 (39:00):
Thanks to you for listening.

Speaker 7 (39:01):
In case you missed any of the show, you can
find it on the iHeartRadio app. That's also where we
can hear our full conversation with Kyle Carros, the son
of the all time LA Dodger home run leader Eric Carros.
Kyle Carros actually spoiled the perfect game leading off the
sixth inning with a base hit, so Kyle Carros breaking

(39:22):
up the she Hen party here at Dodgers Stadium. But
the Dodgers get the win, seven to two. They have
a two game lead over the Padres with seventeen more
to go. Coming up next Fox Sports Radio with Ben Maller.
We'll talk to you tomorrow night. Have a great rest
of your night, seat
