Money Transfer. And certainly it is gonna be a fun
time here. Do you really believe after closing out Dodger
Talk last night at eleven o'clock that I would show
up to Superior Grocers and partner with Real Money Transfer
(03:56):
if I thought this was not something to believe in?
Speaker 2 (04:01):
Do you really believe that?
Speaker 7 (04:02):
Do you really believe I would leave the Grete one
eight the San Fernando Valley at seven am, just to
be prepared for an electric dodger talk from ten to
noon from Superior Grocers in Huntington Park.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
You are sorely.
Speaker 7 (04:21):
Mistaken if you think I just showed up to be
some eye candy in Huntington Park. There are people walking
down this cheese ale, this meat isle looking for real
money transfer. I am right next to Aisle twelve, Aisle thirteen,
That's where we are set up from ten to noon,
right here on Am five seventy. LA Sports can't wait
(04:43):
to see you. Like I said, Miguel Rojas is going
to be here in person taking photos with the people
from eleven to noon and starting at ten thirty, Miguel
Rojas will be here at Superior Grocers at sixty ten
Pacific Boulevard to take your phone calls eight sixty six
nine seven two five seventy And oh, by the way,
(05:06):
did I mention?
Speaker 2 (05:08):
Did I mention? I might even take a photo with you.
Speaker 7 (05:11):
Yeah, I might even stand in front of that real
money transfer step and repeat as they call it in
the business and take some photos with you. And I
have prizes. We have Dodger tickets to give away. We
have Superior Grocer gift cards to give away.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
We have Bill.
Speaker 7 (05:29):
Plunkett's best selling book La story Otani the Los Angeles
Dodgers and the Season for ages to give away. We
are loaded. And how about this. The great people at
Superior Grocers baked me some fresh tortilla chips. They know
this skinny fat guy loves chips and guacamole. And look
(05:53):
at this, Look at this. We got chips, We got rueditas.
Oh baby, we are loaded from ten to noon right
here at sixty ten Pacific Boulevard in Huntington Park. Can't
wait to see you down here now. Last night at
Dodger Stadium, it was an electric atmosphere. Number one Kobe
Bryant bobblehead Night, Number two Kershaw versus Max Scherzer. Two
(06:19):
guys that were teammates for a half a season in
twenty twenty one. Two guys that will see each other
in Cooperstown one day. Two guys that are two of
the three active pitchers in Major League Baseball with three
thousand strikeouts, and two guys that reached that three thousand
(06:40):
strikeout plateau at Dodger Stadium that's right. If you remember,
Mac Schuzer recorded his three thousand strikeout at Dodger Stadium
in September of twenty one, and of course earlier this year,
Clayton Kershaw recorded his three thousand strikeout at Dodger Stadium.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
But this is the we dispart.
Speaker 7 (07:01):
Kershaw beat Schurzer again because in five meetings head to
head Kershaw versus Schuzer, Clayton Kershaw has won three of
the five meetings, including the postseason. It was an incredible
night at Dodger Stadium. Kershaw continue continuing to prove the
(07:22):
doubters wrong that he has a lot left in the tank.
I bet you did not believe in Clayton Kershaw. I
bet you thought this was just a victory tour a
la Kobe Bryant.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
In his last year. You know with the Lakers.
Speaker 7 (07:36):
He thought, oh, okay, he'll show up, he'll pitch, maybe
not do so well. No, this guy is not going
to just show up. He is going to show out
and his elra is just to tick over three. His
record is six and two. That truck still works for
Clayton Kershaw, who went six innings last night but was
(07:56):
helped out by the best game Mookie Betts has played
all season long. Last night, he hits a two run
home run in the fifth inning, and he also makes
an incredible play to end the second inning to start
an inning ending double play. Mookie betts last night two
(08:16):
run home run in the fifth inning turned a one
nothing deficit into a two to one lead for Kershaw
and the Dodgers.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
Mookie Betts to the play, he's one for two to nine.
Serger out of the stretch. Bets first pitch high the air,
left field, back toward the wall.
Speaker 6 (08:32):
That has gone.
Speaker 5 (08:36):
Mookie Betts flips the scoreboard with a two run bast
a huge fist pump as he hits third base. Hello,
high five for Dino Ebol. Mookie Betts puts the Dodgers
in front two to one.
Speaker 7 (08:55):
That's right, Mookie Betts with his best game of the
season last night coming at the right. After the game,
he thanked his wife Brianna for helping clear his head,
helping support him through a season long slump. And yes
it is true, America's DH JD. Martinez was called into
(09:16):
action when the Dodgers were in Florida. Mooki confirmed it
after the game last night. I knew about it. I
did not want to divulge any private meetings, but it
is true. After that Saturday day game, Mookie Bets enlisted
the help of his good buddy JD. Martinez, who lives
in Fort Lauderdale and these days is doing a lot
(09:39):
of deep sea diving deep sea fishing, but took time
out of his great new lifestyle in Florida to help
out Mookie Bets to get back on track. And last
night it showed up and yeah, Brianna Bets, you're a champion.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
JD. Martinez a great friend.
Speaker 7 (09:59):
So, like I said, as great as Mookie Betts is
and as great of a career as Mookie Bets has had,
he still needs a lot of support and he has
gotten it from a lot of people. And last night,
that home run in the fifth inning, we have not
seen Mookie Bets hit the ball that hard that far
(10:20):
since he hit a walk off home run against the
Tigers in the first homestand of the year after coming
back from Tokyo, Japan. So a big night for Mookie Betts,
a gratifying night for Clayton Kershaw, who outdueled a former
or a former teammate and a future Hall of Famer
in his own right.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
Max Scherzer. Here was Kershaw after the game on sports
net LA.
Speaker 4 (10:44):
I mean, obviously, pitching insures you know you're gonna have
a battle on your hands.
Speaker 6 (10:48):
He threw the ball really well.
Speaker 4 (10:49):
Tonight. Ball's coming out really well. All the guys are
sayings fastball still has a lot of jump to it,
so you know, it's not lost on me. I think
it's really cool that, you know, Sures was the guy
right for me to get to three thousand and and
you know, I got to play with him, got to
compete against him basically our whole careers. So I think
I think it is really cool that we got to
do this in our first year and I don't know
(11:11):
if it's our last year, but towards the end for sure.
So it's uh, it's it's been. It's been a fun
ride to getting to watch him and Verlander and to
get to compete against him, and I was a lot
of fun. And he's still doing it. I think he's
way older than me. He's like forty one, so he's
way older.
Speaker 6 (11:26):
Got you my few.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
Years, for sure, But just how you were able to
kind of get through this outing. What was the focus
for you and how you were able to get through
their relatively quite efficiently.
Speaker 6 (11:34):
Actually, yeah, they.
Speaker 4 (11:36):
Swing the best well, not a lot of strikeouts and
a lot of walks. You know, they put the ball
and play a lot of singles tonight. Honestly, if I
could get lefties out, would have been in a much
better spot, you know, the big big swing SNI from
the lefties. So and then honestly, Mookie making that double
play in the second kind of really got me going.
You know, the secondend could have gotten out of hand there.
So for Mook to make that play, get me out
(11:56):
of that, you know, keep my pitch count down, able
to get through six and then obviously in the homer
two is big night for MUK which is awesome to see.
Speaker 6 (12:03):
Obviously Prinity as it is.
Speaker 7 (12:05):
But for you sure as or Verlanders like this feel
like you guys have been kind of attached for a while.
Speaker 6 (12:11):
For the last couple of decades.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
Yeah, I mean yes, and no, I think I think
as we've gotten older, you know, you start to see
you know, other people, you know, maybe retire that we
played against a lot and you know Verlanders before Sures
and I both you know, so he's been doing it
a lot longer, both of us so, but at the
end of the day, it's it's fun to get to
compete against guys like that and have a lot of
(12:34):
respect for both those guys, and it's always fun to see,
you know, what they're doing across the league, getting to
see how they're competing, how they're doing, and you know,
fun to come out on top tonight for sure, any
part of a match up.
Speaker 7 (12:48):
All right, there's Clayton Kershaw. Thanks to the Sports Net
LA for being in the clubhouse for us as always.
And how about this After the game last night, as
we were hosting Dodger Talk from the booth, we saw
Kershaw appear in the blue Jays dugout. Max Scherzer wanted
to swap jerseys with Clayton Kershaw, and Kershaw signed his
(13:10):
Dodger jersey for Schurezer. Scherzer signed his Jay's jersey for Kershaw,
and the Blue Jays posted the photo on Twitter. And
here's what Kershaw wrote to Max Scherzer on the jersey
he signed for him. Obviously, on one of the twos
of the twenty two he put all his accolades and
then on the left side the.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
First two he wrote two shures.
Speaker 7 (13:34):
An honor to compete against you, and then Max Scherzer
wrote to Clayton Kershaw on his Blue Jays jersey, You're
an all time competitor, three exclamation marks. So a pretty
cool scene in the dugout mutual respect from two guys
that are one of the all time greats of this generation,
(13:55):
in all time greats in Major League Baseball. I will
say what separate Kershaw from Scherzer is that Kershaw will
go out there no matter what for his team, while
Scherzer has had a reputation in Detroit and in LA
with free agency on the horizon, to save himself for
the big payday. We all remember what happened in Game
(14:17):
six of the twenty one NLCS, So I got the
receipts on that. I'm not gonna go into the sewer
on it again, but I will say this, members of
that twenty one Dodger team felt like Max Scherzer abandoned
them and he had Walker Buehler pitch on short rest,
and obviously it didn't work out for the Dodgers or
(14:37):
Walker Buehler. In the twenty one NLCS, Freddie Freeman and
the Braves went on to win the World Series. All right,
we are live. This is not a recording. We are
live Dodger Talks Special Saturday Morning Edition until noon. Miguel
Rojas is gonna join us at the bottom of the hour,
and he's also going to take photos with the people
(15:00):
here at Superior Grocers in Huntington Park at sixty ten
Pacific Boulevard from eleven to noon. If you're not here,
now get here. The line is filling up. But we
have a controlled atmosphere. We have a great atmosphere. The
people from Real Money Transfer, the people from Superior Grocers
are people from AM five seventy LA Sports.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
We got you.
Speaker 7 (15:21):
It's a great vibe in between Isles twelve and Ile thirteen.
Right here on AM five seventy LA Sports.
Speaker 1 (15:29):
Don't miss a moment of World Champion Dodger Talk. Your
chance to talk about the world chance is here eight six,
six nine, eight seven, two five seven eight. Here past
episodes of Dodger Talk on the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 7 (15:45):
We are live a special Saturday morning edition of Dodger Talk.
Speaker 2 (15:49):
That's right Aisle twelve Iile thirteen.
Speaker 7 (15:51):
That's where it's at here at Superior Grocers, sixty ten
Pacific Boulevard. We are right inside next to the real
money transfer and like I mentioned Aria, you can do
it all in one place. Money transfers, check cashing, bill payments,
and currency exchange, all with friendly service you can count on.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
And Miguel Rojas is going to join.
Speaker 7 (16:12):
Us live from Superior Grocers in Huntington Park, sixty ten
Pacific Boulevard at ten thirty. We have phone lines open
if you want to ask Miguel a question, and the
line is starting to wrap around the building for world
champion Miguel Rojas, one of the most popular Dodgers the
last couple of years. And our guy Mikey is out
(16:35):
on the streets outside and Mikey, why don't you give
us a little heads up a scott a report on
how many people are out here to see world champion
Miguel Rojass.
Speaker 8 (16:45):
Well, how were going, Dave? Yeah, we are right outside
Superior Grocers here in Huntington Park and the line is
extending past the building. Everybody in their Dodger gear. Everybody
amped up to see Miguel Rojas. It's a really great atmosphere.
We had a lets of Dodgers chant going on out here,
and uh, can.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
We hear that.
Speaker 2 (17:06):
Can we hear that? Electric?
Speaker 7 (17:07):
Dodger chan outside? Absolutely, go ahead, let's hear it. Get
the crowd going, Dodgers. Let sounds electric. They're saving their energy.
Mikey all right, thank you, thank you for the scouting report.
(17:29):
That's Mikey from the Street Team. He is outside and
getting ready for Miguel Rojas is meeting Greed. He's gonna
take some photos. He is going to kiss some babies.
He is gonna shake some hands. He's meeting the great
team at Real Money Transfer. Right now. We are between
Aisle twelve and Al thirteen. The line is long but
(17:49):
distinguished outside Superior Grocers right now, getting ready to meet
and greet with Miguel Rojas, who was part of the
Dodgers win last night five to one over the Blue Jays.
Clayton Kershaw wins his sixth game of the year. He's
six and two. Mookie Betts his best game of the season,
playing great shortstop last night and also hit a two
(18:09):
run home run for the Dodgers. Now tonight Game two
is a great pitching matchup as well.
Speaker 2 (18:16):
It is snell Zilla Saturday.
Speaker 7 (18:18):
Blake Snell on the mound again at Dodgers Stadium for
the first time since being injured on April second. Blake
Snell is going up against Chris Bassett, the former a
is now Toronto Blue Jay Morongo Casino. Dodgers on Deck
begins at five o'clock tonight from Dodgers Stadium. First Pitch
(18:39):
with Rick Monday and Steven Nelson at six ten. So
you know, we talk about the Dodgers winning series. Miguel
Rojas is one of the leaders that has allowed the
Dodgers during a long season to enjoy the fruits of
victory by having a celebratory shot after every series win.
(19:00):
He's looking to pick up some tequila here at Superior
Grocers so he could take it back to the clubhouse
and celebrate a series win after Snel Zilla shoves against
the Blue Jays. Now Kershaw said this after the game
last night. The Blue Jays don't really walk a lot.
They like to slug, So I'm sure Blake Snell took
some notes last night on the way Clayton Kershawn navigated
(19:23):
that Blue Jays lineup and cap Bobashett and Vladimir Guerrero
Junior in check and how about this with the Dodgers
win last night, and the Padres losing to the Red Sox.
The Dodgers now are three games ahead of the San
Diego Padres in the NL West. And who can they
think they can thank Walker freaking Bueler for doing his
(19:46):
job last night for the Boston Red Sox six scoreless innings,
his best start of the season, helping out the boys
in Blue in San Diego as the Red Sox blew
out the Padres ten to two. And remember, the Dodgers
and Padres will hook up for the final six meetings
of the regular season, starting in two weeks at Dodger Stadium.
(20:10):
There'll be a three game series at Dodger Stadium and
then three more in San Diego this very month, and
after that, the Dodgers and Padres won't see each other
again unless they meet up in the postseason. So I
know it's the dog days of August, but when it's
the Dodgers, always something is possible. And I harken back
(20:32):
to what I've been saying for the last year plus,
Dodger games are not just games anymore. When you come
to Dodger Stadium, it's an event. When we continue on
Dodger Talk Live from Superior Grocers, sixty ten Pacific Boulevard.
Our guy, World Champion Miguel.
Speaker 2 (20:51):
Rojas is going to join us, and he may even
take some of your phone calls.
Speaker 7 (20:55):
So phone lines are open at eight six six nine
eight seven two five seventy.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
You gotta get down here.
Speaker 7 (21:01):
He's gonna start taking photos, kissing babies, maybe picking people up.
You never know, You never know what could happen at
a Superior Grocer's right next to the Ria Money Transfer
at sixty ten Pacific Boulevard in Huntington Park.
Speaker 2 (21:15):
David Vass with you until noon.
Speaker 7 (21:18):
Miguel Rojas will join us next right here on your
Home for the Dodgers AM five seventy LA Sports.
Speaker 1 (21:28):
This is Dodger Talk on your home of the world
champion Dodgers. Follow us on Instagram at AM five seventy
LA Sports for more Dodger contact.
Speaker 2 (21:39):
The Home of the Dodger AM five seventy LA Streets.
Speaker 7 (21:45):
We arelive a very special Saturday morning Dodger Talk with
you until noon right here on AM five seventy LA Sports.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
David Vas say, we are live at Superior.
Speaker 7 (21:56):
Grocers in Huntington Park, sixty ten Pacific and in thirty minutes,
world champion Miguel Rojas, a man of the people, one
of the fan favorites of this team, is gonna start
taking photos, kissing babies, maybe throw people up in the sky.
You never know what could happen here at Superior Grocers,
we're right next to the real money transfer and we
(22:18):
want to remind you that at RHEA you can do
it all in one place. Money transfers, check cashing, bill payments,
currency exchange, all with friendly service you can count on.
And we are joined right now by a man that
means so much to the Dodgers and so much to
the city, coming down to Huntington Bar in Huntington Park
to embrace this community that is world champion Miguel Rojas.
Speaker 2 (22:43):
Miguel, thank you for the time. Appreciate it.
Speaker 7 (22:45):
Nobody claps anymore, They just have their phones up, just
staring at you.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
There we go, there we go. Give this guy some love.
He deserves it.
Speaker 9 (22:53):
He's nice to be here and thank a little bit
of my morning before they go to the bullpar and
say hi to some fans and be part of the community.
I think that's it's one of the the biggest reason
why we enjoy baseball and we play baseball because we
have so many people behind us every single night and
every single day behind the scenes, that we have a
(23:16):
responsibility to give back to the community.
Speaker 6 (23:18):
And this is awesome. I really enjoy my time around LA.
Speaker 9 (23:22):
This is my fourth year as a as a Dodger,
but it feels like I've been here for more than that.
So I'm really happy and and I'm excited to see
some people over here.
Speaker 7 (23:30):
You're from a different generation where you don't just stay
in your hotel room and play video games and get Postmates.
You're a guy that likes to go out and meet
people and see people, right, You like to feel the people,
the energy of the city.
Speaker 6 (23:43):
Yeah, definitely.
Speaker 9 (23:43):
I feel like it's always important to kind of don't
take this opportunity for granted, you know, Like I know,
we're we're a baseball player and athlete and famous people
for a.
Speaker 6 (23:56):
Lot of for a lot of them over there.
Speaker 9 (23:57):
But at the same time, I feel like we have
to stay grounded and humble and continue to be out
there for for the people to kind of have the
opportunity to to see that you're like a human being
and and and you're part of this community too, and
you want them to uh to actually experience that every
single day, not just at the ball part.
Speaker 6 (24:15):
When the lights are on and you're you're wearing your.
Speaker 7 (24:18):
Custom, your costume. That's an interesting way to put it
sometimes because people think that you're a character or you're
a video game guy.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
You have a heartbeat, Yeah, that's that's.
Speaker 9 (24:27):
That's why I say a custom because a lot of
people who go to the stadium and watch the games
and and see us on TV, they think we were
not human.
Speaker 6 (24:36):
Yeah, and that's that's not that's not what it is. Uh.
Speaker 9 (24:39):
I feel like we we all come to the supermarket,
and we all do groceries and and and we we
like to have a life outside of baseball too, and
this is part of it. So I'm happy that the
people get to see a lot of the Dodgers players around,
and I know there are more players doing this, and
I'm excited and happy to be to be part of community.
Speaker 2 (25:00):
Miguel Rojas.
Speaker 7 (25:01):
The doors are gonna open inside to Superior Grocers at
eleven am. It's gonna take photos from eleven to noon,
a full hour to have your chance with a photo
a world champion Miguel Rojas. And I know you got
to experience the parade and really see how much this
city loves this team and loves these group of Dodgers,
including yourself. But when you show up here in Huntington
(25:23):
Park and people see you and react the way they do,
does it make it more real how much you do
mean to these fans.
Speaker 9 (25:32):
It's really special, not just for me, but the whole
The whole group of guys are kind of bottling every
single night to to uh, to put some smile on
people's faces and make them go to sleep feeling really
proud that the Dodgers win another game or win a championship.
Speaker 6 (25:47):
Last year, we continue.
Speaker 9 (25:49):
To do that every single night we we go to
the ballparty and we uh, we take this really serious.
Speaker 6 (25:54):
You know, we were.
Speaker 9 (25:55):
Trying to win again and and that's that's that's what
motivedos and was every single day to put a da
smile and kind of joy on people's at the end
of the season when we enjoy the parade together. But
these times are are are really fun too because you
kind of like embrace the fan base and the community
in a different way because when you go to the ballpark,
(26:17):
you know you can actually get a big hit or
or make a big play for them to share but
right now it's a little bit different.
Speaker 6 (26:24):
It's more uh being there and.
Speaker 9 (26:27):
Being closed for them and for them to take a
picture and actually have some some quality time together.
Speaker 2 (26:33):
It is a uh is priceless and it's great that
you're here.
Speaker 7 (26:36):
After a Dodger win last night five to one over
the al least leaders, the Toronto Blue Jays last night,
I felt like this may have been Mookie's best game
since maybe his walk off home run against the Tigers.
Speaker 2 (26:50):
Was that one of his best games this year?
Speaker 9 (26:52):
Yeah, I feel like Mookie has been working so hard
every single day to to find himself again, and I
think it is more of a like finding that confidence,
you know, and and seem smiling is kind of like
the best part of last night, you know, when he
came back to a dog out after his first hit
and in the first sitting. I know we couldn't capitalize
(27:13):
that uh those runs over there, but I feel like
he was smiling, you know, and he was in a
better mood over all, and I feel like that's what
we need out of him, because we all know the
great player the mookiees, and we all know this season
is too long for us to be kind of worrying
about his production, but it's nice to see him smile
(27:34):
and nice to see him get the big homer to put.
Speaker 6 (27:36):
Us ahead and actually make a great player shortstop.
Speaker 9 (27:39):
And you can see the demeanor and the and the
happiness on his face that we haven't seen that in
a while.
Speaker 7 (27:46):
Hey, we see a lot of smiles from Miguel Rojas too.
It feels like you started to find your footing maybe
two or three months ago. I mean, I think people
are sleeping on how well you're hitting the ball now,
and obviously not playing every day, but playing a lot.
It feels like this season has presented a lot of
opportunities for you.
Speaker 9 (28:06):
Yeah, there's a couple of stretches where I play seven
in a row, something that I haven't done in the
last couple of years, especially here with with Dog and
the organization. Knowing the I'm in my mid thirties now
and it's not easy to play. Especially last year in
twenty three I was playing short stuff, which is a
premium position, and it's really hard to kind of like
keep up with that.
Speaker 6 (28:28):
On the on the physical stakeboy.
Speaker 9 (28:30):
But I feel like, I mean, the team needs it,
and I'm I'm this is my job and I'm always
going to be ready for for them whenever they need
me at any position. And it's been good because I
getting out an opportunity and that it's not it's not
a surprise that my numbers and my.
Speaker 6 (28:48):
My play and and the quality.
Speaker 9 (28:52):
Of my abats and everything got better when I got
the opportunity to play a little bit more. So I'm
happy that I got the chance, and but I'm happy
too that we have Max back and and like we
almost on a in one hundred percent full force going
into October.
Speaker 7 (29:06):
I'm not sure fans appreciate how difficult it is to
play just two or three times a week. It takes
a special player to be able to do that. How
are you able to go from playing seven in a
row and maybe this week playing twice.
Speaker 9 (29:20):
Yeah, I mean it's part of, uh, like your role
and understanding what are you here for? And I was
having this conversation with Dalton Rushing last night. Yeah, the
expectations of always be ready because you can play at
any time, at any moment, but at the same time,
you can just be on the bench and wait for
your opportunity for over.
Speaker 6 (29:41):
Five for seven days. So uh, that's a that's a
tough job.
Speaker 9 (29:45):
But I'm not gonna say that, uh, that's going to
be an excuse for us not to produce. I feel
like that's that's in our in our power to kind
of buy in into what we're doing for this organization
and what is our role right now in this team,
and it feels like, I mean, whatever they ask us
to do, we're gonna do. So that's the best mindset
for me to kind of like keep up, keep myself ready,
(30:07):
and keep up with the good ward whenever we have
a chance.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
That's the voice of Miguel Rojas. At eleven am.
Speaker 7 (30:14):
He's gonna start taking photos with the people here in
Huntington Park. We are at sixty ten Pacific Boulevard, Superior
Grocers in Huntington Park. Miguel Rojas will be taking photos
from eleven to new No autographs, please, no autographs today.
Neither Miguel or myself are sunning autographs.
Speaker 2 (30:32):
Today. Miguel will be taking photos.
Speaker 7 (30:34):
There's a line wrapped around Superior Grocers here in Huntington Park,
were right near the real money transfer and coming up
in about five minutes will open up the phone lines.
Maybe you want to touch the people over the phone.
They can ask you a question.
Speaker 6 (30:46):
That would be great. That's what we're here for.
Speaker 7 (30:49):
Yeah, the game before the game here at Superior Grocer's
in Huntington Park. Now, Miguel, last year was such a
great ride. Am I allowed to still ask about last year?
Or do you feel like we can no longer ask
about the World Series and what you guys did last year?
Tell me when the cutoff was?
Speaker 9 (31:07):
Well, I think I think that the kind of year
that we have in this year and how how hard
it is being to uh to be on the top
of the league this year, especially with all the teams
kind of like getting hard at the right moment, you know,
and and having a team that is like kind of
leading the National League on the Milwaukee Brewers with the
(31:28):
pitching stuff and and all that, and and knowing that
we have in the padress right there, like they're not
They're not gonna be easy to kind of go through,
you know, especially having six more games against them. It's
really hard to kind of like be thinking about what
happened last year because we kind of like focusing on
what we need to do in twenty five to uh
to to be a Word Series champion, because I mean,
(31:49):
we're happy that we won last year, but we're not
sertified just with that. We we have another thing to
do this year. The organization did everything in their power
to make us better and it's our time to deliver,
you know. And uh we I know we've been through
a lot of open downs and and on injuries on
the pitching side and the offensive part. But I feel
like there's a lot of things that we can get better, uh,
(32:11):
in this last couple month or month and a half
that we have before October, and securing the the the
the division is going to be important for us.
Speaker 6 (32:20):
Now.
Speaker 7 (32:20):
I'm glad you brought that up. With the pitching staff.
You guys are finally healthy with your starting pitchers. You
got Glass now back, you got snell Otani's now up
to four or five innings to start. Do you feel
like a night like last night is a great example
where the offense doesn't have to feel that burden to
score six seven runs. If you score four runs with
(32:41):
that starting pitching, you should win more games.
Speaker 9 (32:44):
Yeah, it's not it's not just how many runs we score.
It's like the opportunities that we that we have throughout
the game, Uh, to do the small, the.
Speaker 6 (32:53):
Small things you know, moving the run not over.
Speaker 9 (32:56):
I think that's gonna start like keeping the ball rolling
on the right direction, because I feel like the last
couple of months, I feel like we have a couple
of guys trying to find themselves in the lineup instead
of like just playing baseball and trying to contribute with
what we need to do.
Speaker 6 (33:12):
So and we all being a part of that.
Speaker 9 (33:14):
You know, it's not it's not just one guy, but
a couple a couple of guys in the lineup at
the same time battling and struggling through things. And I
know this is not going to happen when the games
kind of matter and kind of mean the most for them,
because I know we all professionals here and nobody cares about,
you know, what kind of numbers you're putting in the season.
(33:36):
The most important thing is is winning at the.
Speaker 6 (33:39):
End of the year.
Speaker 9 (33:39):
So I know we get into a spark right here
where everybody, especially on the defensive party, is gonna kind
of glue together.
Speaker 6 (33:47):
And I mean it looks it looks really.
Speaker 9 (33:50):
Good the last couple of weeks where where we can't
put the offense together, everybody's kind of pulling there.
Speaker 7 (33:56):
I'm glad you brought that up because when Mike Soci
was meaning managing the Angels and they had the success
they had, he would stand up in spring training and
in front of the whole team, in front of Vladimir Gerril, Junior,
Garrett Anderson, all those guys and said, I need twenty
five team at bats from all of you.
Speaker 2 (34:16):
If anybody has an issue with that, let me know.
Are you a believer.
Speaker 7 (34:19):
That that's a that's a fair amount of at bats
that you have to give up for the team during
the regular season to be ready to do that in
the playoffs.
Speaker 6 (34:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (34:27):
I mean there's not there's not a swish that you
can turn off on and off in baseball, So you
have to be able to bring that every single night.
And I feel like it's time for us to kind
of like glue us a team like that because we
know we know we can do it. We have the
kind of the same personnel that we had last year
for the for the playoffs, and we knew we have
(34:48):
to kind of like twig some things in the Padres
Series last year. And that's why it's important. And we're
still talking about the championship season because that's going to
be kind of the baseline for us to kind of
goal this year too, because we knew we have to
kind of like play our best baseball to continue to
advance in the playoff last year to get to awards hears.
(35:09):
And when we got to the wards heers, what make
us win was like doing the little things. Yeah, we
didn't hit the so many homers. We I know Freddie
went off and hit homers in five games in a
row or something like that, But at the same time,
it was like the small ball, pulling the ball in
play with two strikes, pulling the pressure on the defense
running the basis. And I think that's something that we
(35:31):
kind of lack off the last month and a half here.
So I think it's going to be important for us
to kind of remember those times. And last night, last
night game kind of give me a really good impression
of like we're close to get there.
Speaker 2 (35:45):
Love it.
Speaker 7 (35:45):
Miguel Rowhaus is joining us live at Superior Grocers and
Huntington Park. Eight six six nine eight seven two five
seventy is the phone number. We have phone lines open
if you want to ask Miguel a question. Starting at
eleven am, we are going to let the Dodger fans
into Superior Grocers in Huntington Park to be able to
take a photo and Miguel shake his hand, maybe give
(36:07):
him a hug or hugs.
Speaker 2 (36:08):
Allowed, Miguel, Okay, for sure. What is off limits?
Speaker 6 (36:13):
Autograph? Everything else is fine?
Speaker 2 (36:17):
All right? I love it. I love it. Maybe they'll
put a baby on your shoulder. You'll take a photo
with them. You never know. Miguel Ross is our guest now.
Speaker 7 (36:26):
Miguel, I meant to ask you this when I found
out we were going to be together here at Superior Grocer's.
On that last road trip, Kevin Kiermeyer showed up in
the Dodger Clubhouse and you said some words to ker
Meyer in front of the team as you presented him
with his championship ring. And I've seen a few of these,
but I thought you were on the verge of getting
(36:48):
really emotional. Why did you get so choked up when
you were speaking about Kevin Kiermeyer.
Speaker 9 (36:54):
Yeah, I mean it was an special group of guys
in I mean, nobody really from from outside, nobody really
knows what transpire through those days, you know, going through
injuries and and fighting to play even though you was
like hurting and and and having those uh, having those
(37:14):
guys right next to you and support you through the
up and downs of like not being on the being
on the bage of not being on the roster and
he's him taking taking my spot and then have to
give my spot back for the World Series.
Speaker 6 (37:27):
I think everything was.
Speaker 9 (37:29):
Kind of like emotional about Kevin because uh kk bro
like this energy and this kind of edge to not
just the veteran players but the young guys too. So
he helped this organization wait so much in two months
he was here or or or so, and and I
feel like it was a it was a great, great
wave to for us to kind of close the chapter
(37:52):
of like being a Dodger giving him his ring. And
I remember like our conversation when I was putting in
the world hears a roster and he was taken out
and it was kind of emotional at that time, And
I kind of felt the same thing when I was
giving his ring because he deserved it and he did
everything that he can to make us better last year.
Speaker 2 (38:10):
That's amazing. That's amazing.
Speaker 7 (38:12):
Backstory on the video that we saw Dodgers social media
makes a lot of sense. And on that last road trip,
you guys gave Walker Bueller his ring as well. Did
you catch that he helped the Dodgers out last night
in San Diego too?
Speaker 6 (38:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (38:24):
I mean, I'm happy for him that he threw the
ball really well, and I know he's been trying to
kind of get to form the playoff form, and he
looks like the Boston rex Is are going to be
in the playoffs. And I'm happy that they got Walker
Buley because he's a champion and he knows how to
do it. Winning comes.
Speaker 7 (38:43):
I feel like he pitched last night for the Red Sox,
but he also pitched for the Dodgers last night.
Speaker 9 (38:48):
I know he's a doger, He's a dog on the heart,
So I'm happy for Walker.
Speaker 2 (38:53):
Miguel Rojas is our guest.

ever said about the World Series, you know, last year,
and how you got to do this this year. Man,
it's all it's all true.
Speaker 8 (39:46):
Man.
Speaker 9 (39:46):
Of course we we're trying to win another one, for sure,
that's for sure.
Speaker 6 (39:52):

Thank you, man, Thank you, and thank you for the
support every single night. I know though your fans are
are the best in the business. And continue to support
the players and uh and and the team because we're
trying to uh, we're trying to accomplish the same thing
that you guys want.
Speaker 2 (40:18):
Fifty three thousand plus at Dodger Stadium last night. Thanks
for the phone called, Joel.
Speaker 7 (40:23):
Let's go out to rialto Carlos. You're on with the
great Miguel Roja. Say hello, Carlos.
Speaker 6 (40:29):
Hey, how's look with us? Everything is good man?
Speaker 8 (40:35):
A real quick question for you after a Dodger victory.
Speaker 6 (40:38):
What is your favorite beer? Yeah?
Speaker 9 (40:45):
Well, I always always like our celebration after we win
the series, and uh, we're taking a shout out Tequila there.
Speaker 6 (40:54):
But I'm trying.
Speaker 9 (40:54):
I'm trying to stay away from from the Michelas that
much because I mean, it's gonna.
Speaker 6 (40:59):
Do make me a lot of make me slower.
Speaker 9 (41:04):
So but every time I can, I go to a
Mexican place, I get my Mitchelle here and there.
Speaker 6 (41:09):
For sure, you.
Speaker 2 (41:10):
Got another question for him? How about a baseball question?
Speaker 8 (41:14):
Good look, and let's win the series man.
Speaker 3 (41:16):
Let's uh, let's take over the series against the Toronto
Blue Jays.
Speaker 6 (41:20):
We're trying to we're trying to sweep this this weekend.
For sure.
Speaker 7 (41:23):
Hey, we love that, Carlos. Thank you for the phone call.
If you win tonight, that means you win the series.
That means there is going to be a toast after
tomorrow sweep or no sweep. So can you just remind
us the genesis how this originated with you being so
celebratory after series wins.
Speaker 6 (41:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (41:42):
I think in a long season like MW season, we
play so many games and in summer, in six months,
and sometimes we forget about the joy the winning a
series can cause in a in a in a clubhouse.
I feel like celebrating this little little victories will keep
you motivated to like the big picture, which is getting
(42:05):
to a playoff and winning series in the playoffs. I
know we we put battles of champagne and we make
a big party every time we advance in the playoffs.
But I think recognizing what the players do and what
your teammates did for that series it is really important
because that is how you get to a playoff, and
that's how we we came up with these kind of
(42:27):
little toast that we do after the game kind of
we picked the play it off, the with the series
or or the game whatever, whoever make us make us
win those those two games. And that guy talks, that
guy talk and have a little a little spitch for
the guys, and we take up a selfie that we
kind of collect throughout the year in our in our
group chat, and then after that, hopefully we can we
(42:50):
can have a good footage of pictures.
Speaker 7 (42:53):
After Yeah, maybe one day you could publish a book
with those photos.
Speaker 1 (42:57):
That.
Speaker 9 (42:57):
The thing is like, I don't think I don't think
it's allow for the public. There's a lot of a
lot of people and you know, their ware and stuff
over that, so we don't we don't want to put
it out there for the public. But definitely you guys
can imagine how how fun and how good it is
in the clubhouse for us.
Speaker 7 (43:14):
He can't wait to do that again. After the Dodgers
win this series against the Jas. Want to take one
more phone calls?
Speaker 6 (43:20):
Do it?
Speaker 7 (43:20):
Ted in l A your last up, because Miguel's gotta
get ready, He's gotta he's got to get warmed up
for these photos.
Speaker 2 (43:26):
What do you got, Ted?
Speaker 9 (43:29):
Hey, Miguel, Good morning sir, Good morning Ted.
Speaker 1 (43:33):
Awesome job.
Speaker 6 (43:34):
We're very proud of you.
Speaker 3 (43:35):
Our community, we Mixigan Americas are very proud of all
your work and all the Dodgers and all the Dodgers.
Speaker 6 (43:40):
My question for you.
Speaker 3 (43:41):
Is after you retire me here we like to coach, is.
Speaker 9 (43:44):
That in your plans Yeah, definitely, I feel like I
want to stay focused on on what what do I
need to do right now to make our team better
and to help us win a championship. But I definitely
been thinking about what's gonna what's gonna happen after my
playing days are are done, and I definitely want to coach.
I definitely want to be out there for for the
(44:06):
younger players and the new generation that is going to
get to a big leaks and hopefully I can be uh,
I can be service service hole somewhere to be a
to be a great coach, and I'm looking forward to
that when I'm managing the big leagues. But I don't
know what the what the path is going to be
for me, but definitely coaching is is on my plans
(44:26):
for for after my career is old.
Speaker 7 (44:28):
Hey that's true. I mean you're a coach now. You're
a player coach in a lot of ways, and players
look to you in the middle of a game for
some coaching. So I mean you're you're a special player, Miguel,
and the Dodgers certainly respect everything that you mean to
this organization. I know us that cover you have so
much respect for you and what you stand for, and.
Speaker 2 (44:49):
How you play the game, and how.
Speaker 7 (44:51):
You how you actually shield your teammates and really take
it upon yourself that that's a sign of leadership too.
So I mean, can't say enough about you. You meant
so much to the Dodgers even when you first started.
And here you are in your twelfth season, ready for
another World Series championship, but a long way to go,
(45:11):
and you've got a lot left in the tank.
Speaker 6 (45:13):
Let's do it a couple more years for sure.
Speaker 2 (45:15):
Oh, I love it.
Speaker 7 (45:16):
All right, Miguel, thanks a lot for stopping bye, Thank
you for putting the headset on. Your day is just
starting because the doors are going to open right now
at Superior Grocers in Huntington Park. The line is very long.
I don't know if you saw the line when you
came in ready for them? All right, all right, Miguel
Rojas is going to start the meet and greet right now. Miguel,
thank you again for stopping by. Really appreciate it. Thank you, guys,
(45:37):
and we'll see him at Dodgers Stadium. He'll be out there,
first guy out there with Chris Woodward doing his infield
drills later this afternoon. So thank you to Miguel Rojas
for embracing the city of Huntington Park and embracing Rea
money Transfer, embracing Superior Grocers, and embracing the people in
this city.
Speaker 2 (45:55):
When we continue, we got one more hour, I'll have
the line in front of me.
Speaker 7 (46:00):
We still got one more full hour of Dodger Talk
coming your way live from Huntington Park, Superior Grocers, and
Real Money Transfer right here on Am five seventy l
A Sports so Sabato, Hey Ganti
