Welcome to Dodgers on Tech. Now your host walking you
up the first pitch, Tim Kas.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
Hi, everybody, and we'll welcome in to Morongo Casino. Dodgers
on Deck. I hope you're enjoying this Saturday. You're world champion.
Los Angeles Dodgers aren't enjoying things right now, as they
are riding a seven game losing street. The Dodgers had
fifty six and thirty nine on the season, still first
place atop the NL West. They've got a four game

(01:03):
lead in the division with two games to go before
the All Star break, and they gave the ball to
show Hey Otani, who makes his fifth start of this season.
First pitch from Oracle Park in San Francisco is coming
up at one oh five. Between then and now, we've
got a lot to cover here on Morongo Casino. Dodgers
on deck. Coming up, You're gonna hear from Dalton Rushing

(01:25):
in about forty five minutes. We'll hear from the manager,
Dave Roberts coming up in about twenty minutes, we'll preview
this pitching matchup. David Vasse will join us throughout the hour.
We got your Dodgers magical moment. In just a little bit,
Kirsten Watson will join us live from the field in
San Francisco, and in just a few minutes, we'll head
out to the Gallpin Motors broadcast booth and check in

(01:45):
with Rick Monday and Tim Neffer.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
Well.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
Last night, Dustin May got the start. It was an
up and down inning for Dustin May. In the second,
William Damis a solo home run to center, and just
like that, the Giants led one to nothing. The Dodgers
were gonna have a tough time with Logan Webb on
the mound. The All Star got into some trouble of
his own in the third inning, when sho hey Otani

(02:09):
crushed the ball four hundred and ten feet into macovie
Covid was the eighth splash hit by a Dodger thirty
second home run of this season for show Hay. As
the Dodgers grabbed a two to one lead, that lead
did not last long. In the fourth, back came the
Giants with a pair of runs. In the fifth, the
wheels fell off for Dustin May as he got chased

(02:32):
from the game. Gave up five runs in that fifth inning. Officially,
Dustin May four and two thirds seven runs, five hits,
four walks. He gave up a pair of home runs
on eighty five pitches. Anthony Bonda gave up a run
as well in that fifth as the Dodgers found themselves
down eight to two. They were down but not out.

(02:54):
In the sixth inning, the Dodgers put together a little
bit of a rally against Logan Webb Teoscar Hernandez with
a two run double to right that made it an
eight to four game. And then up came Mookie Betts,
who got hit by a pitch. Michael Confordo, then Chase
Logan Webb.

Speaker 5 (03:11):
Tey Oscar Leeds at second, one out, three to two,
pitch swing on hitting the air to center field.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
Indeed, this ball heading back to the wall, it has
gone a home run.

Speaker 5 (03:21):
Mike Don't Conforto a two run shot in his eight
to six and Confordo makes.

Speaker 4 (03:30):
It a two run game with his eighth home run
of the year.

Speaker 6 (03:35):
Rated bat down zero to two and from a Dodgers standpoint,
this is a different game.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
Now they've got a field, they're back in it.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Michael Confordo delivers with the two run of home run.
He was down two, got it to a full count,
and then homered on the sixth pitch of the bat.
Dodgers down eight to six, and the Dodgers still weren't done.
In the top half of the seventh inning, mooke he
Bets doubled his center he got to safe on the
fielding air to third. Freddy Freeman popped out. Then, with

(04:07):
two out, up came Will Smith.

Speaker 5 (04:10):
Smith digs him from the right side. He awaits the
pitch from Randy Rodriguez. Here it comes the one two
and Smith it's a ground ball up the middle of Bace.
Heck BET's no score. Smith, with a two out single,
makes an eight to seven.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
Will Smith with the RBI single, Dodgers down eight to seven,
and they still weren't out of it, and the ninth
hty Mookie bets a one out single to left. Freddie
Freeman drew a walk. Dodgers had runners on for will
Smith again and he doubled into a five to four
to three double play ball game over last night, as

(04:50):
the Giants hang on for an eight to seven win,
Logan Webb gets the win, Dustin May gets the loss.
Dodgers now the longest losing streak since two thousand and seven.
They have dropped now seven in a row. They need
to get out of this funk, so today they give
the ball to Show Hey, Show Hey, Otani on the
mound making the start first pitch on one oh five
and with more let's head up to the Gallpin Motors

(05:12):
broadcast booth as we check in and say hello to
Tim Neffett and Rick Monday.

Speaker 4 (05:15):
Guys, Thanks very much, Tim.

Speaker 5 (05:17):
Beautiful day by the bay here in San Francisco. Is
the Dodgers trying to get in the win column. They
dropped seven straight for the first time since September of
twenty seventeen.

Speaker 4 (05:28):
Start the day four games in.

Speaker 5 (05:30):
Front of the Giants four and a half in front
of the padres and the National League Western Division standings.
Pitching today show Hey Otani and also leading off as
the DH. One of those days where it's becoming more
and more normal to see what is really not normal
in baseball. Meantime, Land and Roope will start for the Giants.
The Dodgers beat him back on the fourteenth of June

(05:52):
at Dodgers Stadium.

Speaker 4 (05:53):
Rupe is six and five with.

Speaker 5 (05:55):
A three to three to nine earned run average. Otani
leading off. He put one in the drink lad last
night in McCovey Cove. It was the ninth splash hit
for a Dodger in the history of this ballpark. Either way,
it's the thirty second home run for Otani and he's
going to lead off after warming up in the bullpen
and then go out and pitch.

Speaker 6 (06:15):
I just wonder if this is going to work out
much much better from the standpoint is that we have
seen Otani pitching at Dodger Stadium. He's pitching at the
top of the first, then he has to come in,
never even gets into the dugout because the bat boys
are helping him take off the glove and everything else,
and that he puts on the helmet and the elbow
pad and it's a real quick turnaround. Well, and now

(06:36):
he has a little bit more time. Today, I think
it's more conducive to even coming up and hitting because
of rushing and rushing and rushing, remember me. Baseball has
also made some amendments to that pitch clock. When Otani
is pitching and he's going to lead off, they allow
more time for him, obviously to get ready to come
on and bat.

Speaker 5 (06:55):
And the rule that came into play a Major League
Baseball wall show he was with the Angels, known as
the Tani rule, means that basically he's two different people
when he's playing in a game like this. He can pitch,
he can hit, and you don't have to manipulate the
batting order like you would have had to back under
the old National League rules.

Speaker 6 (07:13):
Including just a few minutes ago, the public address announcer
here in San Francisco came over. He goes, hey, look,
we need some guidance here. Do we announce him? Initially,
this has nothing to do with the game being played
on the field, But do we announce him as the
designated hitter, slash pitcher or do we just wait And
I said, well, if you're introducing the lineup, you introduce

(07:33):
him as the designated hitter, and then at the end
of the nine spots then you say, oh, and by
the way, starting for the Dodgers show, hey Otani. So
it even presents a problem for the PA announcers.

Speaker 4 (07:44):
It does.

Speaker 5 (07:44):
You mentioned the word rushing. Dalton rushing back behind the
plate on this Saturday. This is his day, on Will
Smith's day off, so Rushing gets to catch not only
Otani but Emmitt Shean who is expected to back him
up as the long man today.

Speaker 6 (07:57):
Yeah, and for rushing, Well, bat night, Tommy Edmond again
at third base? Has Sung Kim is going to be
at second. I had a brief chat with the Michael Confordo,
actually very brief coming down in the elevator at the hotel.
I asked him and said, well, did you get all
the home run that you hit last night? He goes yeah,
I said, but I know one had downplayed. He said,
but there was a little bit of a breeze that
was blowing out And I said, well, hold on to
the theory that's the breeze, because that's one of the

(08:19):
better swings that we've seen.

Speaker 5 (08:20):
Yeah, and also a great throw from left field, absolutely
picture perfect. Yeah, he couldn't have put it in a
better spot. And you know, the Giants wanted it challenged.
They challenged it, and they could not overturn the call.

Speaker 4 (08:32):
It stood.

Speaker 5 (08:33):
But boy, you don't get too many better throws from
left field.

Speaker 6 (08:36):
Yeah, and they're running tagging at third base for those
that maybe were not with us, and that throw, you
could not have walked it home and handed it to
Will Smith in a better spot to apply to tag.

Speaker 5 (08:47):
So the Dodgers and Giants. Giants have won seven of
their last nine ball games, the Dodgers seven straight in
the lost column, looking to turn that around today with
just today and tomorrow at the Gold for the All
Star Break, Dodgers Giants Otani against Roupe. That's the pitching
matchup as we send it back to you in Los Angeles.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
Tim, all right, thanks a lot, guys, as we count
you down to first pitch on this Saturday. Dodger fans,
get that game day meal on at Shaky's Pizza Parlor.
Hungry for lunch right now, or to your Shaky's Pizza,

on Dodgers on Deck, you're gonna hear from the manager
Dave Roberts, get his thoughts on this skid that the
Dodgers are in right now, having lost seven in a row,

(09:30):
looking to turn things around today with show Hey Otani
on the mount speaking to show you up. Next, we've
got your Otani ree Ryan, and we'll head down to
the field live with Kirsten Watson as we lead you
up to Dodgers and Giants on this Saturday afternoon. Next
for being with us, Tim kats is the world champion
Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
This is Morongo Casino Dodgers Hunter on your home for
La Dodgers Baseball.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
Leaning up to Dodgers and Giants on this Saturday afternoon,
two games to go before the All Star breaks, Show
Hey o Tani and Landing Root the bitching matchup. First
pitch of Oracle Park coming up at one oh five.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
This is the Otani rewide.

Speaker 5 (10:15):
Line of the first pitch to show him he swings
and the hammers one.

Speaker 7 (10:18):
Deep to right, failed way back it goes and that's
in the cove.

Speaker 4 (10:25):
The swimmers are after it.

Speaker 5 (10:27):
As show Hey O'tani gives the Dodgers a two.

Speaker 4 (10:31):
To one lead with his thirty second.

Speaker 5 (10:34):
Home run of the season, an absolute blast.

Speaker 4 (10:39):
Over the landing in right field and directly into the water.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
Boh and that's McCovey cove on a cut fastball right
down the middle. Oh to that get hit.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
Hard, four hundred and ten feet with the splash into
the water. Show Hey Otani. Last night with home run
number thirty two on this season. Unfortunately, the Dodgers fell
to the Giants eight to seven.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
This is Kirston's Corner with Kirston Watson.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
Hey, Kirston now joins us from Oracle Park. Brought to
you by Cars for Kids. Ready to donate your old car?
Call eight seven seven Cars for Kids right now, friendly
agent standing by to take your donation. That's Cars with
the K to donate your car today, Kirston. The losing
street continues now in seven games. Last night the Dodgers
fell behind, but made a valiant effort to come back

(11:33):
and almost beat the Giants exactly.

Speaker 8 (11:37):
And I think that's the biggest thing right now is
you're seeing fights. And yes it's not to say that
there wasn't that during the six game Now for seven
game losing streak, but it's kind of just been like,
there's the frustration of the suburgency is starting to build up,
and so yesterday, yes, there's the rivalry, there's all these
different elements. But this team, how they were able to
come back from being down eight to tuas the game

(11:58):
the final scoring eight to seven. There were huge at bats,
there were key moments. So that's kind of just where
the focus is right now and finding different ways to
build on that. And honestly that they started in the
game three in Milwaukee. They had to find different ways,
whether it was getting on base, the higher walk count
you have, the sack slide, is four in the run,
things like that. So now let's kind of bringing all

(12:20):
of that together. They've obviously pleased with the at bat
yesterday and so hopefully today they can just keep building.
But then ultimately picking up that.

Speaker 1 (12:27):
Win and building means giving the ball to show, Hey,
oh tany how long will he go? We'll find out together, right.

Speaker 8 (12:35):
Yeah, exactly, But I can tell you that the hope
is him to get through three innings. You've now been
kind of seeing you know this, two innings. For the
most part, he's gotten built up to about thirty one
pitches that was in his last start, and so that's
his current season high, and so they've been really pleased
with just how he is progressing. Yes, it's completely different
than anything that we have seen thus far, because even

(12:56):
you know, we'll be thinking about earlier in the year,
the conversation was, no, he wasn't going on a rehab
assignment when they were hoping to bring him up when
he was built up to that probably five innings mark.
But right now for him, it's just a matter of
when he was doing the sim games, then he was
taking part in the game, batting, lead off, all these things.
It's essentially playing in two games that day. This was

(13:18):
a way for him to build up while also preserving
his energy, and he was feeling just as of course
a player on the team, understanding the pitching injuries that
have been happening, he wanted to contribute. So he's been
pleased with where he's at. Dave Roberts has been really deased,
especially with the command of course coming off elbow surgery.
But they're continuing their progression and the hope today is
to get up to three in the new season high.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
Hopefully he can give him that and give him some offenses. Well, Kirsten,
we appreciate it. We'll check in with you after the game.
Still to come here on Dodgers on Deck with Dove
deep in to this pitching matchup David Vatsego's one on
one with Dalton rushing. But up next an injury report
and we hear from the manager himself, Dave Roberts. It's
the Dodgers and Giants on this Saturday afternoon. First bitch
of one five. I'm Tim Katson. This is the world
champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Networks.

Speaker 2 (14:03):
This is Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck on your home

Speaker 1 (14:12):
Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck continues as we lead you
up to the first pitch on this Saturday from San
Francisco Dodgers and Giants Margo Casino Resort and spat a
Grand Slam for good times. First pitch coming up at
one O five.

Speaker 2 (14:24):
This is the LA Dodgers injury report.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
Heresented my UCLA healthy official medical partner of the Los
Angeles Dodgers. Kiki Hernandez on the IL, Max Muncie on
the IL Blake Snell's progressing in Minor League rehab starts.
We'll throw an Arizona during the All Star break. Blake
Trying made a rehab appearance in Triple A Oklahoma City.
He is trending in the right direction for a second
half comeback. All right, back up to San Francisco as
we check out with the Dodgers skipper.

Speaker 9 (14:49):
Any questions for Dave, Dave, can you just describe Dave?

Speaker 1 (14:54):
Can you talk about the pressure.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
In the dugouts with Dave Roberts.

Speaker 6 (15:00):
Served about how he handles his schedule in having to
balance the two disciplines.

Speaker 10 (15:08):
Now, I think that it's very Uh, everything he does
is intentional, and I think that it's more of understanding
the job ultimately what's asked of him and then kind
of take the measures to prepare for that. And so
if there needs to be more ramp up on one thing,

(15:31):
he does it to then kurktail on something else he
does that. So I think it's just he's, like I said,
he's very deliberate, very clear, very intentional about his work.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
All Right, Dave Roberts talking about show Hey Otani getting
the start today, his fifth on the mound for the
Dodgers in the first half of the season. We continue
here on Dodgers on Deck. We check in with THEE
David Best, so it leads up to Dodgers and Giants
on this Saturday from San Francisco. I'm Tim kase is
the world champion Laws Angelus Dodgers Audio Network.

Speaker 2 (16:03):
As we were saying, this is Marongo Casino. Dodgers on
Deck on the official home of La Dodgers Baseball.

Speaker 1 (16:13):
Dodgers Giants, Gan two of this three game set. Dodgers
looking to snap this seven game losing strings, show Hey
o Tani on the mount against landing route. First pitch
from Oracle Park is coming up at one oh five.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
Joining Tim Kats on Dodgers on Deck.

Speaker 11 (16:29):
I accept everybody for who they are.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
This is Dodger inside there David Basse.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
And David Now joins us before the Dodgers and Giants
Game two of this three game set, David show Hey
Otani on the mound in his final start before the
All Star Game.

Speaker 2 (16:45):
What do we.

Speaker 1 (16:46):
Expect out of show Hey today? Could we see him
go deeper than the last time?

Speaker 11 (16:50):
Well, the trend would be that we should expect him
to go two innings this time because it's been one, one, two, two.
Maybe he goes three because it's the All Star breaks,
so I could see it going two to three innings.
I don't see it going further than that, especially since
Dave robertson Milwaukee said that Emmitt Shean is going to

(17:13):
piggyback Otani today. Remember in Otani's first few starts, it
was Casparius and then Robleski. Now it's Emmitt Shean, So
I don't see it going further than three innings today.
And after the last start, you know, Otani seems to
be happier with the way things are going.

Speaker 1 (17:33):
Every time he pitches. He still bats leadoff, and he
stays in the game as the leadoff hitter and designated
hitter the rest of the way. Is that something we
could see maybe change David because the results in is
at bats just haven't been there in these games at
which he pitches.

Speaker 11 (17:47):
I feel like Eric Carross reminds us every time he
strikes out in his first at bat on the days
that he pitches, and look, it's the reality, and it's
a fair question. It's a lot for anybody to go
out there and pitch, which let alone lead off the
very next inning. We've seen pitchers sit before, right Tim
and there have been certain instances in the middle of
the game where the ninth spot comes up, or it

(18:10):
used to come up when pitchers hit. But he's expected
to be the thirty one thirty plus home run guy
that he is. And you know, doing some research on
all this, even before he started pitching, you know that
last year, on average, the leadoff hitter in Major league
teams only got thirty three more plate appearances than the

(18:30):
number three hitter. So it's not that big of a
difference as far as how many times he's coming up
through the course of a game or a season. And
considering the bottom of the Dodgers' lineup really hasn't turned
it over to give him RBI opportunities, why not consider
hitting him third. But it's not just Dave Roberts. Otani's
got to buy in two.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
These guys are creatures that have it. They don't want
to just all of a sudden change one day out
of the week. How much does that throw off everybody
else at how receptive is everybody going to be to
all of a sudden changing one day a week because
Otani's pitching.

Speaker 11 (19:03):
Yeah, that's a great point, But if you're just shuffling
the MVPs. I don't think it's that big of an
issue to have Mooki Betts lead off and Freddie Freeman
hitting second and Otani hitting third. In fact, there's an
argument to be made that if Mooki Betts was hitting
in front of those guys, maybe that could jumpstart him.
Maybe he gets better pitches early in the count. So

(19:23):
I don't believe there's any negatives to real arranging the
lineup on the days that Otani pitches.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
David is brought to you by the twenty twenty five
for f one to fifty from California's best selling truck brand.
It's time to see Ford in a new light. Ford
for America from America. Blake Snell made a start in
Rancho Kucamonga a couple days ago. David, what can we
expect that at snell Zilla after the break?

Speaker 11 (19:47):
Yeah, well, a lot of people may think that, Okay,
the All Star break is happening in the minor leagues. Two,
how is he going to continue rehabbing and building up? Well,
the Dodgers can send him to Arizona. He could face
hitters there, s innings there, pitching competitive environments there, and
then my understanding is after next week he's gonna go

(20:07):
out to Oklahoma City to continue the rehab starts, and uh,
there is a good chance you could see him before
the end of July.

Speaker 1 (20:15):
All right, David, great stuff. We will check in with
you in just a little bit. Still to come here
on Wrongo Casino Dodgers on Deck, we'll hear from Rick Monday.
We'll dive deeper to this pitching matchup. But up next
we get to here Dodgers Magical Moment Dodgers Giants from
San Francisco on this Saturday. I'm Tim Kass, the world

Hawfy hot Dogs.

Speaker 1 (21:09):
We go back to nineteen seventy four, with the All
Star Game approaching, we go back to that year's All
Star Game in Pittsburgh, a couple of Dodgers helping the
National League to their eleventh victory in twelve years.

Speaker 7 (21:22):
There's a drive and a dick left center at Bass
Tag and it's up against the wall coming into Scars Garvey.
Ron Say holds a second with a double and an
action leg League one.

Speaker 1 (21:34):
A nothing, Yes, Ron Say with the RBI double on
the bottom of the second off gay Lord Perry kirk
Gouti with the call as the National League would yet
again beat the American League in the Midsummer Classic. This
Hofey Magical moment brought to you by Hofey hot Dogs,
Hoffey so Cow's local treasure for nearly one hundred years.

(21:55):

on Dodgers on Deck check back in the Rick Monday. Yeah,
we'll go one on all of the rick when we

from San Francisco, I'm sim Cases the world champion Los

the mound. It's time for the Verizon startup. We are
thirty minutes away from the start of the game. Now
at Verizon you can lock in your low price for

store today.

Speaker 2 (22:38):
And now joined by David Massey, here's La Dodgers broadcaster
and World Series champion Dodger Rick Monday.

Speaker 1 (22:47):
Well, Rick, this Dodgers team certainly in a funk going
into this All Star break, losers of seven in a row.
What are you seeing in particular in this team during
this stretch. It seems like it's the offense one day,
pitching the other last night a prime example, pitching kind
of snake bit them because the offense was there.

Speaker 6 (23:04):
Well, first things first, welcome aboard. What I really see
is the fact Dodgers a seven game losing streak, and
we start to analyze it. There's a lot of different
ways you can go. But if we look at the
seven game losing streak, the Dodgers, first of all, have
been outscored fifty two runs this seventeen I realized one
of those games, eighteen runs were scored. That was in
Milwaukee on this road trip. But on the road trip

(23:26):
when they've had chances to score runners in scoring position,
Dodgers are hitting one to seventy four the opposing teams
on this road trip in the four games they're hitting
three forty three. So there's a big disparity on that
end of it. I thought last night, Tim, the Dodgers
finally played with some electricity. They've been playing ketchup and ketchup.

Speaker 10 (23:45):
Well.

Speaker 6 (23:45):
Last night they almost caught up. They lost last score
of eight to seven. They got some guys not swinging
the bat particularly well in this lineup. Shoheo Tani is
going to start. How long he will go? We will
wait and see and then Emmatchean will fill in. This
is a ball club, Tim, that I've been there before
with teams that they need a feel good moment and

(24:06):
then capitalize on it because they're a much better team
than what they have played in recent times and they
know it.

Speaker 1 (24:12):
On a brighter note, right, the All Star Game coming up,
all the festivities in Atlanta coming up on Monday and Tuesday.
You went to All Star Games at the beginning of
your career and towards the end of your career. What
do you remember about those games In particular being there
for the first time and then being there later in
your career.

Speaker 6 (24:29):
I talked about it the other day. My very first
All Star game was really my second full gear at
the major league level, and to walk into the locker
room and have Mickey Mantle call me by first name,
I thought, oh, I might as well go back home
because it made my entire day. And then later on

(24:49):
I was able to play against Mickey Mantle right at
the end of his career. I did not grow up
liking the New York Yankees at all, and after three
World Series against him, I realized, Hey, as a kid,
I was pretty much a spot on, but I did
like Mickey Mantle, especially when he hit from the left
side of being a switch hitter and he played a
center field when I first saw him. Those are the

(25:09):
recollections that I have, and the recollections of you're finally
getting a chance to meet guys you're competing against, because
if we think back, you know, years ago, you could
not even have a conversation on the field with an
opposing player when you were in uniform without getting fined
by Major League Baseball. It used to be that the
home plate umpire that was going to work that game,

(25:31):
would sit in the stands during batting practice, and if
he saw you fraternizing with another player or a coach
in a different uniform, you were fined at the time
either fifty bucks or one hundred bucks, depending upon how
long your conversation lasted.

Speaker 1 (25:47):
So how many conversations did.

Speaker 3 (25:48):
You ever have?

Speaker 2 (25:49):
Rick?

Speaker 6 (25:49):
No, I figured, if it's that important enough, we go
out to dinner after the game. No, it wasn't. I
looked at it this way, Jim to me, it was
not worth fifty bucks to say hello. So wait till
after the game or before the game. And if you
don't like him that much, you're not going to spend
fifty bucks on him anyway to say hello.

Speaker 1 (26:06):
Exactly. Well, we said hello, and now we're gonna say goodbye. Rick,
appreciate it and have a great broadcast today.

Speaker 6 (26:13):
The Dodgers take the feel of the idea. They will
begin the longest win streak of the entire season.

Speaker 2 (26:18):
No doubt about it.

Speaker 1 (26:18):
It begins today. Thank you, Mo. That's the Dodger game plan.
Dodger fans, you need a game plan to start your future.

to the game. David Vassa. He goes high and tight
with Dalton rushing. It's the Dodgers and Giants. Dodgers looking
to snap this seven game losing streak. First pitch coming
up a one oh five. I'm Tim kass the world
champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.

Speaker 2 (26:58):
As we were saying yes, is Marongo Casino. Dodgers on
Jack on the official home of La Dodgers Baseball.

Speaker 1 (27:08):
It's Dodgers and the Giants on this Saturday afternoon show.
Hey O, Tony Landing Room. The pitching match up, First
pitch coming up at one oh five Dodgers Baseball, brought
to you by Shaky's Pizza Parlor, the official pizza partner

a group day at Shaky's dot Com.

Speaker 2 (27:24):
David and now what will likely be vast fielding insults
from a Dodger player.

Speaker 1 (27:30):
It's an engagement of endearment.

Speaker 2 (27:31):
This is high and tight.

Speaker 11 (27:34):
We're here with one of my favorite guys. That's Dodger
catcher Dalton Rushing. Dalton, thanks a lot for the time,
appreciate it.

Speaker 9 (27:40):
It's always fun to talk about.

Speaker 11 (27:42):
I always started, you always finish.

Speaker 9 (27:44):
You're exactly right.

Speaker 11 (27:46):
Hey, I've been talking to some veteran pitchers that have
gone to the minor leagues for rehab assignments, and they've
talked about the automated strike zone. You're familiar with it
more than most guys up here. What's your feelings about
how it may work in the big leagues?

Speaker 12 (28:02):
Yeah, I think, uh, I think there's a chance it
for sure makes its way here.

Speaker 9 (28:06):
Uh. It kind of gives everyone a baseline. There's no
more of.

Speaker 12 (28:10):
The argument of oh that's a ball, that's a strike
either either side. I think there's gonna have to be
some tweaks, for sure.

Speaker 7 (28:19):
Uh.

Speaker 12 (28:20):
I'm not one hundred percent sure whether it's gonna be
pitcher friendly, hit or friendly. I guess that all kind
of determines, or is it's gonna be determined based on
how they make the zone. Are they gonna change it,
Are they gonna shrink it, make it bigger. I do
think it'll be beneficial for the big leagues. Uh, it'll
take a lot of the complaining about umpires, complaining about

(28:44):
crucial calls and big spots. I think it just kind of,
like I said, makes it makes it fair to both sides,
and both sides have their right and have their honor
to tap their head and challenge the call if they want.

Speaker 11 (28:55):
To full disclosure. The guys I've talked to about it
are only pitch so I don't know how hitters feel,
but pictures feel that three ball count, hitters are not
going to swing correct.

Speaker 12 (29:09):
It's gonna it can make some pictures run away from
the zone. Uh, But at the same time, it's I
think that's what builds the craft of pitching in a
world like today. I think nowadays, we're seeing the offensive
side of players go down every year. You're seeing a

(29:35):
smaller sample size of power throughout the league. You're seeing
a lower batting average throughout the league year after year
as these obviously pitchers continue to develop and pictures have
been nasty for years, but it's it's almost starting it's
to the point where one hundred miles an hour is

(29:55):
normal now. So it's like I said, it's taken a
little bit of an offensive hit for the big leagues.
And I think that's why MLB wants to make this
move to the automatic strike zone, and you get guys
in the zone a little more. When guys are in
the zone, what happens, Guys hit the ball. And when
guys hit the ball, fans are happy. But yeah, I

(30:16):
don't I don't think it's I don't think it's going
to alter the game too much. I do think like
I said, though, I think it just brings little fairness
to both sides of the ball.

Speaker 11 (30:25):
All right, Before I let you go, that was incredible
insight on what's to come. The future may be closer
than we ever thought. You and the baseball season, it's
a grind. I'm not going to ask you are you
having fun? But are you enjoying the grind?

Speaker 12 (30:40):
Yeah, it's it's still baseball. It's things haven't went the
perfect way for me as far as results, numbers, stuff
like that.

Speaker 9 (30:51):
It's like I said, it's baseball.

Speaker 12 (30:54):
It's I tell myself every day when I put my
head on the pillow when I get up. I want
things like this to happen now so I can learn
from them. It's I just turned twenty four years old.
It's I got a lot of time in this game
in the future, and I don't have much time being here.
So if there's a time to learn, it's now. And

(31:16):
the role that I'm in allows me to learn a
lot easier than being thrown into the fire trying to
lead a team to win a world series.

Speaker 11 (31:23):
Dalton Rushing has eclipsed my guy Alex Friedland as my
favorite player.

Speaker 4 (31:28):
Now there it goes.

Speaker 11 (31:29):
Dalton Rushing has been our guest and you'll receive a
gift card to Boulevard Steak, the acclaim modern steakhouse known

Speaker 1 (31:48):
All right, thanks a lot, DV. Thank you Dalton leading
you up to first pitch from San Francisco on this Saturday,
Dodgers and the Giants. Dodgers looking to snap this seven
game losing streak in the offense to come alive. Show
hey Tani on the mount. We'll dive deeper into this
pitching matchup. Next, I'll go anywhere. I'm Tim Kase is
the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.

Speaker 2 (32:10):
This is Morongo Casino Dodgers Hunting game on your home
for La Dodgers Baseball.

Speaker 1 (32:19):
It's the Dodgers and the Giants on this Saturday afternoon
game two of this three games set Dodgers first place
atop the division, but looking to snap this seven game
losing streak. First pitch coming up at one O five and.

Speaker 2 (32:31):
Now before the Dodgers hit the dining we look at
the pitching.

Speaker 1 (32:35):
Matchup presented by your Southern California Toyota Dealers. Work hard
and play hard in a New Tacoma with an I
Force Turbo Charts engine. It's a truck built for the
bold See your Toyota dealer today. They make it easy
landing roop on the mound for the Giant six and
five three thirty nine, twenty six year old right hander
second season in the Big League's making his nineteen start.
Now before the All Star Break. He owns a one

(32:56):
thirty three ERA in his last four starts, beating back
to June twenty five, first to two thirty two ERA
over his last ten starts. Last time out five innings,
one run, four hits, three strikeouts and a no decision
against the Phillies. Rupe has been lights out at home
this year a one to eighty five ERA and seven
home starts, and he has yet to allow a home
run this season. That's got to change today face the
Dodgers last month at Dodgers Stadium. One in two third innings,

(33:19):
six runs, four hits, watch five in a loss. Show
Hey Otani on the mound, thirty one year old right
hander making his fifth start. It worked up to two
innings at his last start against the Astros on July fifth,
a lot only one hit while striking out three. Has
not a lot of runs since his debut back on
June twenty or June sixteenth, Facing the Giants for the
third time in his career while on the mound, holds
a one to zero record with the sub one ERA.

(33:41):
Let's may be the first time Otani has pitched at
Oracle Park in San Francisco, Dodgers Giants. We are fifteen
minutes away from first pitch. He's to the game, our
next I'm Tim Kasi's World champion in Los Angeles, Dodgers, Audio.

Speaker 2 (33:54):
Nut, this is Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deep on your
home for the Blue all season.

Speaker 1 (34:04):
Low Dodgers and Giants on this Saturday afternoon's Berry Bon's
Bobble Ahead date at Oracle Park. Sellout crowd. Barry Bond's
just throwing out the first pitch there in San Francisco.
Hopefully the Dodgers could quiet the crowd early show. Hey,
O Tony on the mound, first pitch coming up at
one O five with more, we go back out to
the booth. Tim never at Rick Monday, Guys, Tim show,

(34:25):
he O Tani back on the hill.

Speaker 4 (34:27):
He's been really good and today.

Speaker 5 (34:29):
The mission for him is to get out of two innings,
get him into three. The most pitches he's thrown in
a game so far thirty one and Dave Roberts really
would love to see him go three full innings as
they continue to slow play him back into a full
blown rotation spot.

Speaker 6 (34:45):
Think his command, Tim has been rather remarkable and coming
back in Yes, they're just kind of dipping his toe
into the bay, if you will hear this afternoon to
be able to get it. But his command different pitches
has been from my standpoint, has been rather a and
fun to watch. Then he turns it around and he
picks up the bat. He'll pick up the bat first
before he takes them out. Today, Dodgers need to do

(35:07):
a better job. They started doing a better job last night.
Runners in score position, they were four for ten, but
they had really struggled on this road trip, hitting just
one seventy four in that spot. At least. Coming into
today's game.

Speaker 5 (35:19):
And facing Land and Roupe, what they did on the
fourteenth of June back at Dodgers Stadium was lay off
the curveball. They only swung at one of his eleven
curve balls and two of his nine changeups. So if
they can stay off the off speed stuff, look for
the hard stuff and drive it into the gaps here today,
that could be a key to victory. Land and Roupe,
the right hander against show hey Otani with m Hihan

(35:40):
to back him up. Dodgers Giants coming up from Oracle
Park in San Francisco on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon, Tim
all right.

Speaker 1 (35:46):
Thank you guys. Dodgers start today fifty six and thirty nine,
losers of seven in a row. Giants poor games back
in the division, Padres four and a half games back,
and the NL was Padres in action later on this
afternoon at home against the Fight in Phillies. That's a
four point thirty five first pitch. But up next it's

(36:08):
Dodgers and Giants. Is the Dodgers lip to snap this skid?
Show Hey o Tani on the mound, how far we go?
Two innings, three innings. When he's done, he'll turn it
over to Immit Shehan for the rest of the way.
Dodgers' offense needs to get it going. Help out show
Hey get back on track with another game tomorrow and
then the All Star Break Dodgers Giants from Oracle Park

(36:32):
in San Francisco is next. This has been Moroco Casino
Dodgers on deck on the World champion Los Angeles Dodgers
Audio Network.
