up to first pitch.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
Tim Kains Hi, everybody, and welcome in to Morongo Casino
Dodgers on Deck. Hope you're enjoying your Sunday afternoon as
your world champion Los Angeles Dodgers get ready to wrap
up the first half of the season before heading into
the All Star break. They're fifty seven and thirty nine
on this seas He's in first place atop the NL West,

(01:01):
a four and a half game leader, with the Padres
five games up on the San Francisco Giants and the Dodgers.
Today close out the first half of the season in
San Francisco, going for the series win against the Giants.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound of close things out, first
pitch set for one oh five Between then and now,
we got a lot to get to here, Amrongo Casino

(01:22):
Dodgers on deck. You were gonna hear from the Dodger
manager Dave Roberts. We'll dive deeper into this pitching matchup
with Robbie Ray and Yoshinobu Yamamoto going at it. David
Bassa goes one on one with Dino Ebel, Dodger third
base coach. What a day it's gonna be for the
Ebol family. His oldest son, Brady Ebel out of Corona
High School, is gonna get drafted today. Yes, the MLB

(01:43):
Amateur Draft starts at three o'clock this afternoon, and Brady
Ebel is expected to get drafted. Do you know Ebl
is with him and his family as they enjoy this
great day for the Ebel family. We've got your Dodgers
magical moment. We'll hear from Charlie Steiner coming up in
about thirty five minutes. Shortly, we'll visit Kirsten Watson, who
you can see on Roku TV today. Then in just

(02:03):
a few minutes we check in with Tip Neverday Rick
Monday out of the Gamping Motors broadcast booth Well. Yesterday
in San Francisco, the Dodgers finally snapped their seven game
losing streak and they got great pitching show Hey Otani
three shutout innings, struck out for his longest outing so
far through thirty six pitches. Turned it over to Imit Shehan,
who had four to third innings on the mound, one run,

(02:25):
two hits, struck out three. Vessi and Tanner Scott did
the rest an inning and two thirds combined to close
it out for the Dodgers, who didn't have a lot
of offense yesterday, but great pitching, great defense. Tommy Emon
and Rbi grounded out in the second inning gave the
Dodgers a one to nothing lead. It remained that way
until the sixth inning, Dodgers up one to nothing when

(02:48):
they got a little something going. Freddie Freeman grounded out,
tay Oscar Hernandez grounded out so two quick outs. Michael Conforto,
though single to the left. Andy Pajez drew a walk
that brought up I sunk Kim.

Speaker 5 (03:00):
Runners lead first and second the two and this one
lined in the left field. That's a base hit that
might catch the gap. Conforto around third he will score.
And in the second with a head first.

Speaker 7 (03:12):
Dive is Kim and he is called out for a
good hitting but bad base running.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
Well, he tried to stretch a single into a double
and it didn't work out to end the ending, but
Michael Confordo scored. They give the Dodgers a two to
nothing lead, and that was a big insurance run. In
the eighth inning, that's when a little trouble for Image.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
She and he'd get the bases loaded.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
A sackfly from Raffael Devers brought in Patrick Bailey. That
got the padres or the giant excuse me on the board.
It was a two to one Dodgers lead and it
would stay that way. Alex Vessia got the remainder of
the eighth and then Tanner Scott came in struck out
two of the three batters that he faced in the ninth.
Dodgers get the win yesterday, Image She and the victory.

(03:55):
He's now wanted to know Tanner Scott to save his
nineteenth of the season. Dodgers their seven game losing streak
is they improved to fifty seven and thirty nine on
this season, and today they go for the series win
as they close out the first half of the season
in San Francisco against the Giants Yoshinobu Yama Moto on
the mound, first pitch of one oh five and with
more we head out to the Galpin Motors broadcast booth

(04:16):
as we.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
Say good afternoon to Tim Neverritt and Rick Monday.

Speaker 5 (04:18):
Guys, thanks very much. Tim here at Oracle Park in
San Francisco. Another beautiful day for a ball game and
a wrap up of the first half of play. Of
course that's a relative term. It'll be game number ninety
seven with sixty five to play after this one, but
the All Star break is upon us and the Dodgers
trying to win one more before the team will separate.
A lot of them will be heading to Atlanta and

(04:40):
the All Star festivities. Dave Roberts will be the manager there.
Many of his staff members will be alongside as well,
and the Dodgers with a four and a half game
lead over the San Diego Pondres to start action Today,
the Giants five back as they have fallen into third place.
They Oceanobo Yamamoto looks to bounce back from his very
very short start in Milwaukee where he only lasted two

(05:03):
thirds of an inning. Robbie Ray, another All Star the
left hand are going for the Giants and all so
important for the Dodgers yesterday to get that win and
end that seven game losing streak. It was something they
hadn't endured since the twenty seventeen season. Now they've got
it behind him.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (05:21):
I like the way that they did it too. Show
hey Otani stretched out three sparkling innings, no runs, just
one hit hit their surgery mark as far as the
velocity one hundred miles an hour, walk one, had four
strikeoutcident Emmett Sheen. What a job that he has done.
And with the Dodgers so many of their starting pitchers
on the injured list, including Sheen who's now obviously off

(05:41):
that list, for him to go four and to third
and really maintain control of the ball game. He had
a couple of walks. That was in the very first
inning that he came in. He walked two of the
first three batters. But the fact that he had high
velocity and good movement, a big, big stepping stone for
this Dodger bulk club tried desperately to get their star
pictures healthy and back in the end of the rotation.

Speaker 5 (06:03):
One little note on she and the Giants were over
forty four against him lifetime until Patrick Bailey had that
eighth inning single. So he has done a good job
against the Giants and we'll see where he ends up
in the second half. And of course this is a
natural day to bring up the rotation for the second
half of the season. Dave Roberts was asked, how do

(06:23):
you see the rotation coming out of the break. He said,
I don't really know right now. He said, my guess
is that Tyler Glasnow will start the first game against
Milwaukee after the break, And he said after that, I
don't know yet.

Speaker 6 (06:35):
Yeah, exactly. And will O'tani see any action in the
All Star Game, doubtful as far as a pitcher. But
I really like the fact that the Dodgers now are
beginning to get healthy, including not just the pitching staff.
We venstand now that Max Munsey is moving around starting

(06:55):
his rehab. Well, the Dodgers are on the road. It's
still going to be a considerable time that Muncie is lost.
But in the meantime, if we look at yesterday's victory,
it was the bottom third of the lineup that provided
both RBIs to get the runs. Dodgers winning by a
score two to one, and they continue to win when
they score first. They're now thirty two and eleven. It's

(07:16):
important to get out on top early.

Speaker 5 (07:18):
And the Dodgers will look for a little production out
of the bottom of the lineup today as Tommy Edmund
right handed against the lefty Robbie Ray. Two more right
handed hitters Miguel Rojas at third and a Story Ruiz
getting the start in left field and batting ninth.

Speaker 6 (07:33):
Yeah, for Robbie Ray, he's allowed just a two to
one average. If we look at Yamamoto, he's allowed just
a one ninety nine average. One would imagine then that
hits and runs will be at a premium.

Speaker 5 (07:46):
Robbie Ray and yr Hinobu Yamamoto. A battle of all
stars here in the final game of the first half,
right before the All Star break, Dodgers and Giants playing
the rubber game of this three game series.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
Timp all right, thank you guys. As we count you
down to first page. Dodger fans. This lunchtime, your game day,
Neil Shakey's Pizza Parterer. Right now you can order Shaky's
Pizza Chicken and Mojo's and Shakey's dot Com. Coming up here,
I'm Arongo Casino Dodgers on deck. We'll hear from the manager,
Dave Roberts. David Veast check say he'll go one on

(08:17):
one with Dino Evil, Dodgers third base coach who is
not with the team today in San Francisco, got bigger
things his family. Yes, his son Brady Ebel expected to
get drafted today in the Baseball draft that starts at
three o'clock Pacific.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
He is with his son and his family Rifley.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
So on this big day, we'll hear from Dino Ebel
coming up at twelve forty five. But up next we'll
check in with Kirsten and Watson you can see on
Roku TV today and we'll get you here ol Tani Rewe.
That's all coming up as we lead you up to
Dodgers and Giants. First bitch at one oh five. I'm
Tim Kates is the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.

Speaker 4 (08:54):
Well, this is Morongo Casino Dodgers on your home for
La Dodgers Baseball.

Speaker 1 (09:03):
Dodgers and Giants are wrapping up the first half of
the season in the series finale from Oracle Park. Yo
should know we Yamamoto and Robbie Ray. The pitching matchump,
first pitch coming up at one O five.

Speaker 4 (09:13):
This is the Otani ree.

Speaker 5 (09:16):
Why now the step back to kick the one two
pitch swinging a miss at a high fastball at ninety nine,
and yes, Stremski strikes out. And that's how Otani begins
his afternoon. Yeah, hello, goodbye, here's the wine. The two
pitch swung on him, miss strike three at one hundred

(09:36):
miles an hour. Oh Tani's squared up on top of
the hill again. Two haunts, he winds, kicks, deals swung
on him, miss strike three, strikes out the side to
start the game on twelve pitches in the bottom of
the first and it got him with a.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
Slider yesterday's show.

Speaker 1 (09:54):
Hey Otani, oh for fourth to play two strikeafs but
on the mound. Fantastic. His longest audience so far, three innings,
no runs, just want to hit, four strikeouts, struck out
the side in the first as the Dodgers go on
and beat the Giants yesterday two to one.

Speaker 4 (10:09):
This is Kirston's corner with Kirston Watson.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
Hey Kirson, now joy and says from Oracle Park, brought
to you by Cars for Kids. Ready to donate your
old car call he eat seven seven Cars for Kids
right now, friendly agents standing by to take your donations.
That's Cars with the K to donate your car today.
Here we are almost at the All Star break, one
more game to go, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound
for the Dodgers and Kirston he's looking to steadily improve

(10:36):
his last out in in Milwaukee.

Speaker 8 (10:38):
Exactly look and that outing it was das to say,
that's probably his worse outing of his career. He wasn't
able to get it up first inning, and with that
it really was just the pitch count got up some
of that pitch selection, but going to the slider a
little too much and then that back that ultimately proved
to be the problem. And then we saw kind of
just a huge defensive that mishaps behind him. So coming
into today, Dave Roberts saying he really just wants to

(11:01):
see him getting going from first pitch. He's not being
in a situation where he can just ease into this one.
That's often with starting pitchers. You know that first inning
of work can be the hardest inning of work, So
he wants to see him just get going from the jump,
be aggressive from the jump, similar to what they saw
with Shoheo Tani yesterday. For Yoshino when we know that

(11:21):
he's hoping to end this first half on a high
note before heading to the All Star Game in Atlanta.
So it really it starts with him as much as
that they always wanted him to be able to go
deep into the games. Considering it's the last game of
the first half, the team is about to have four
days off, so all hands on deck. They definitely want
to pick up this win, but it does start with
Yoshinova when they want to see him just getting back

(11:42):
to his true self and being aggressive in the strike zone.

Speaker 1 (11:45):
This Dodgers team needs to go into the break feel
a little bit momentum and hopefully they can ride that
momentum from yesterday into this All Star breaking.

Speaker 8 (11:53):
Yeah, exactly, Look, we've been seeing just the quality of
that bat's getting stronger and stronger. It really since that
last game in No Wah hockey and so yesterday with
the offense, whether it was guys like Michael Conforto, Hayes
on Kim now neither of them are in the lineup today,
but it's really just finding different ways. It's going to
be a tall task. The Robbie Ray, who is the
All Star for the Giant side, Dave Roberts, was saying,

(12:16):
they just kind of have to find different ways to
control the strikestone, especially with that backfoot slider that Robbie has.
They want to find different ways to manage that. So
as long as they can do that, it feels really
good about the offense continuing with what they've been doing. Ultimately,
I know I just said it, but this team they
want to win on a high They want to end
the first half on a high note. We saw the

(12:37):
I think, the pure elation after getting the win yesterday
just because look, you know, a seven game losing streak,
that's a grind and so they want to see the
continuation of getting back on track and hopefully they can
do that today heading into the All Star break with
your smiles, no.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
Doubt about it, Kirsten, we appreciate it. We'll check you
out on Roku TV today. Still to come here on
Maronco Casino Dodgers on Deck will dive deeper to this
pitching matchup. David vet segoes what on one with Dino Ebel,

that bone bruis in the left knee feeling better. Blake
Snell is gonna throw again in Arizona, his second time
throwing in the minor leagues, throughing Rancho Cucamonga. On Thursday,
Rookie Sasaki some good news, Dave Roberts telling the media
just a few minuts ago he has started throwing bullpen
sessions again. He did his first one two days ago.

(14:04):
We'll have another one tomorrow and the Dodgers are encouraged
by his process and hoping for a late August return.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
When we continue here on Dodgers on Deck, we will check.

Speaker 1 (14:12):

Speaker 2 (14:31):
It's Dodgers and the Giants on this Sunday. Coming up.

Speaker 1 (14:35):
You'll hear from Charlie Steiner coming up in less than
fifteen minutes, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Robbie Ray the pitching matchup
on this Sunday.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
First pitch coming up at one O five.

Speaker 4 (14:45):
Joining Tim Kats on Dodgers on Deck. I accept everybody
for who they are. This is Dodger insider David.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
Bassi, and David now joins us before the Dodgers and
Giants a final game before the All Star break. Finally
chance with this Dodgers team to exhale before the stretch run,
the trade deadline coming up, the September run, the NL
West Divisional race, all that's got to heat up here
after the All Star Break, David. But this Dodgers team,

(15:13):
looking at them now two and a half weeks away
from the trade deadline, what are you starting to see
maybe for needs holes, things that they could go out
and maybe go get well.

Speaker 9 (15:21):
With the injuries to the bullpen and Michael Kopek now
out with knee surgery, the Dodgers may be continuing to
put their emphasis on trying to acquire a right handed,
high leverage reliever. You look at some of the guys
that are out there that have been thrown out there,
Classe from the Guardians or Duran from the Twins.

Speaker 2 (15:42):
Yeah, they're great relievers.

Speaker 9 (15:44):
Class is having an off year so far, but obviously
that's the nature of the volatility of being a relief pitcher,
but both those guys are under team control for two
more years, sometimes three more years. So I look at
a guy like David Bednar, who was actually sent down
by the Pirates earlier this year, has come back and

(16:04):
has been the David Bednar that he has been before.
He might be a guy that may be more available
than Duran or Class A. But I'm a big believer
Tim that not only do the Dodgers have to focus
on adding to their bullpen, but also how about the outfield.
Michael Confordo still hasn't gotten on track. Is a Jaron

(16:25):
Durant still available? Is Byron Buxton available? Is Taylor Ward available?
It feels like the Dodgers are looking for an outfield
bat and also a right handed reliever.

Speaker 1 (16:36):
How much do you look at the injured list, David
in this front office, looking at the injured list and
all the arms that potentially could come back and will
come back in the second half of the season.

Speaker 9 (16:44):
They are banking on that. They see it and don't
forget with those guys coming off the IL, they need
forty man roster spots for those guys to come off
the sixty day IL. So they're very confident that Snell
is going to come back by the end of this month.
Glass now is already back. You got Blake Trin throw
on rehab games, Bruce Star Graderol. They're not, you know,

(17:07):
ruling that out. So they're very optimistic that their starting
staff at the very least is going to be whole
by the time they get to August.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
David is brought to you by the twenty twenty five
for f one to fifty from California's best selling truck brand.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
It's time to see Ford in a new light.

Speaker 1 (17:22):
Ford for America from America on a wider look at
this NL West David, the Giants, the Padres, the two
teams chasing the Dodgers. Right now in the division there
was no separation. It's gotten a little closer now going
to the All Star break, I expect those two teams
are going to be pretty busy at the trade deadline.

Speaker 2 (17:40):
Is a see a path maybe to a divisional title
as well.

Speaker 9 (17:42):
Yeah, Buster Posey has already shown how aggressive he'll be
as the GM six, you know, jumping the trade deadline
by six weeks to pull off the Rafael Devers trade.
It hasn't translated in the win loss column, but certainly
you have to applaud him for doing something that no
other Giants GM in the last five years has been
able to pull off, and that's getting that type of

(18:05):
bat in there. The Padres, I'm not sure how much
they can do, tim because they've traded away a lot
of their prospects. They are handcuffed financially with the uncertainty
of their ownership, so if they make a trade, it's
going to be a lateral trade. They got two pending
free agents in their rotation that a lot of people
are skeptical they'll be able to re sign in Michael King,

(18:27):
who's hurt, and Dylan Cees. So I don't see the
Padres being that team. The two teams outside of the
division that I would look at that are going to
try to make a big push are the Phillies, the Mets,
and the Cubs. The Cubs could land erall this Chapman.
The Phillies could land ere all this Chapman from the
Red Sox.

Speaker 2 (18:47):
We'll find out what comes up in the next few weeks.
First since the All Star Break.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
Before that, though final game before the All Star Break
coming up, it's the Dodgers and Giants.

Speaker 2 (18:55):
Thank you Dabe.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
We'll check back in with you a couple of minutes
still to come here on Marongo Cauzino Dodgers on Deck

Well with the All Star Game on Tuesday, we go
back to twenty twenty two. Yes, the Major League Baseball
All Star Game held at Dodgers Stadium, and guess who
would make his first career All Star Game start.

Speaker 11 (20:01):
Clayton Kershaw, thirty four years old, in his fifteenth year
in the major leagues, and he's done everything. He's got
freestyle on the wards, he's got an MVP, he's.

Speaker 2 (20:08):
Won a ring.

Speaker 11 (20:09):
His ninth All Star Game will be his first Star
Tania board with the leadoff hit Kershot at Judge after
a toss up, Kershaw erases Otani, Well, like I said,
he hadn't got a hit. I don't know if he's
walked off of Kershaw, so maybe the the first time
he's ever seen that move, and it was a good one.

(20:32):

Kershaw at some point. Will we continue here on Moroco

with Charlie Steyner.

Speaker 7 (22:12):
Charlie, all right, Tim, It's the Dodgers and the Giants
All Star Break just a couple of hours away. This
after the Dodgers two to one win over San Francisco
yesterday and mo the big story was, of course Otani
getting better and better, not only so better, but longer
out on the hill. Three innings, no runs in a hit.
But I thought, as I watched the game yesterday, Emmett

(22:35):
Sheen really showed a lot.

Speaker 6 (22:37):
I think really between the two of them, it was
just a terrifically pitched a ballgame. The Vessia came in
and the eighth Tenner Sky closed it out in the
ninth inning. But choey Otani, I mean, only thirty six
pitches over at the three innings, twenty five of those
were in the strike zone. And again we saw Otani
reach the century mark with the velocity one hundred miles

(22:58):
an hour. First pitch was right at and struck out
the first three batters that he saw in the ballgame.
He has been absolutely lights out so far. Interesting too,
is that now he is stretched out a little bit more,
and a little bit more, and a little bit more.
And what will Dave Roberts and the Dodgers think about
doing now with Otani once we get past the All
Star break, which begins immediately after the completion of today's game.

Speaker 7 (23:21):
Dodgers have used thirty five pictures so far the first
half plus this season. That's the second most only to
the Mets. And primarily it's because of the relievers. And
yesterday one of the relievers was Sheen, who looks like
he's about ready to go on the big stage.

Speaker 6 (23:36):
Absolutely with four and third in last night. So yesterday's
ball game ninety eight miles an hour. As far as
the velocity right there, but I thought even more important
than the velocity, she and just moved the strike zone around.
Oh in the first inning he walked to guys. Then
he really settled down, and you combine the fastball with
the breaking stuff in the movement he gets on the fastball.

(23:56):
That was really something to watch in yesterday's ball game.
And the other part two you mentioned a pitching staff, Well,
the Dodgers have used fourteen different starting pitchers so far
this season and with she and just continuing to come
along and come along a little bit more. It's going
to answer a lot of big questions as to who's
going to be in the rotation, especially when you look

(24:17):
at Tyler Glass. Now he's had a good outing as
well at the minor league level. He's going to be
coming back, and gradually we're going to see the starting
pitchers re enter that rotation.

Speaker 7 (24:28):
You know, as we watched the season and then again
the Dodgers now with a comfortable five game lead, it's
curious to me that there's kind of a negative vibe
about how the Dodgers season has gone to this point.
But oh, by the way, they've got the best record
in the National League and only second best to the
Tigers overall.

Speaker 6 (24:49):
I agree, we've heard more about the surprising and I
think that they are surprising the San Francisco Giants, which
after yesterday's ball game, now they're five games out, andres
they prevail in their game yesterday against Phillies, so they're
four and a half games out. But we hear more
about those two teams than maybe the Dodgers, because the
expectations are so high with the Dodgers and none of

(25:11):
those expectations are any higher than what the Dodgers have
of themselves.

Speaker 7 (25:15):
And as we look at the overall season to this
point around major League Baseball, we are looking at six
to fine teams that are in first place or in
the neighborhood. You've got the Phillies, Cubs, Astros, Tigers, Blue Jays,
Philly's had the Dodgers, and then you've got all those
last place teams including the Pirates and the Nationals, Athletics,

(25:38):
White Sox, and Orioles. What do you make of that
overall big picture in Major League Baseball at this point, Charlie,
I thank.

Speaker 6 (25:45):
You, and I have been around long enough to understand
as it look. For example, the Dodgers, they hit some
quagmire and they've lost seven of the last ten games.
They come off last night, so victory in looking forward
to maybe the longest win streak of the season. That's
the way you have to approach it. But I think
from a baseball standpoint, you start to look around those
different divisions that you were just alluding to. It's very

(26:08):
interesting on some of the expectations that some of the
teams have conquered those and others are have question marks.
Next to him and say, what the heck has happened
to that team?

Speaker 7 (26:17):
And the same afternoon it's terrific pitching matchup Yamamoto for
the Dodgers and Ray for the Giants.

Speaker 6 (26:24):
Yeah, and for Yamamoto, I think the other incentive is
he's coming off the shortest start that he's had in
his career. Ran into buzzo last Monday. That was in Milwaukee,
where he went just two thirds of an inning, gave
up a three run home run, five runs overall, four hits,
and a couple of walks, And I think that this
is going to be something. I think he really wants
to prove himself much much better than a disappointing outing

(26:47):
beginning of the week.

Speaker 7 (26:49):
And Robbie Ray has had a turnaround season this year.
He's been fabulous.

Speaker 6 (26:53):
Yeah, and he's coming off Remember too, is that last
year he was out because of that Tommy John surgery.
But he's on the All Star team season and he's
a tough, tough guy, barely a two hundred banding average
against him. Dodgers will move their lineup a little bit
around today, so hopefully the final game of the official
first half of the season, they come back to La

(27:14):
some of the groups going to Atlanta for the All
Star Game, the rest of the group to LA hopefully
on a happy flight.

Speaker 7 (27:19):
And we'll be continuing play at the end of the
week at home against the Brains.

Speaker 2 (27:25):
All right, thank you, Charlie. That's the Dodgers game plan.

Speaker 1 (27:27):
Dodger fans, get your plan at a future or your
future at a California community college. Yep, financial aid it's
available to help you with the tuition, the books, sometimes
even the rent if you need it. It's time to
take that next big step. Classes give phil quickly, so
en roll today. I can go to college dot com.
Still to come here on Dodgers on denk will get

(27:48):
you a preview this pitching matchup. Tim and rickl have
the keys to the game. But up next we go
high and tight with Dino Ebel. Yes, Dodger third base coach.
His son Brady drafted today, hopefully early in the draft
that starts at three o'clock. We'll hear from Dino next
to lead you up to Dodgers and Giants first pitcher
one O five. I'm Tim Kasses, the world champion Los

Sunday afternoon. First Pitcher one oh five Dodgers Baseball is
brought to by Shaky's Pizza Parlor, the official pizza partner

group day at shakys dot com. All right, let's head
over to David Vesey and now what will.

Speaker 4 (28:44):
Likely be vasse fielding insults from a Dodger player.

Speaker 2 (28:48):
It's an engagement of endearment.

Speaker 4 (28:49):
This is high and tight, all right.

Speaker 9 (28:52):
The Major League Baseball Amateur Draft is happening later this afternoon.
And there's a reason why the Dodgers will not have
their third base coach, the best in baseball, standing there
today before the All Star break. That's because he's a
father today to Brady Ebel, who is expected to be
drafted very high in the amateur draft this afternoon in Atlanta.

(29:15):
And that is the one and only Dino Ebel. Dino,
thanks a lot for joining us. And I know it's
a proud day for you in many ways.

Speaker 3 (29:24):
Yes, thank you, David one for always having me on.
And yeah, it's a blessing for today for me to
be a part of Brady's journey and the hard work
he's put into, you know, to see where he gets drafted,
and hopefully it's where he wants to go and wants
to be whatever number they call upon him, and we'll
just move forward from then if that happens.

Speaker 9 (29:45):
Dino, I don't know about you, but you've been talking
about Brady and just how you know where his career
was going in high school. Are you having a little
shell shock that the draft is finally here?

Speaker 3 (29:57):
You know, David, not really. I don't know. I'm really
and uh, you know, I'm ready for the moment. I
think all the hard work that you know, he's put
into this, I'm confident that one day you're going to
see him play at a major league level for a
long time and him growing up in the game with
him and his brother. Uh, he's learned from the best
he's been, you know. Uh, with the big star names

(30:18):
of the Angels and Dodgers, And for me personally, I'm
just maybe a little anxious but not nervous or I'm
calm and uh, you know, just looking forward to to
you know, when his name is being called.

Speaker 9 (30:30):
This has been a learning experience for both of you.
What have you thought about the draft process?

Speaker 3 (30:35):
Well, seevable. All the years I've been in the game,
I've always been on the field and still on the
field as a coach and developed the young players. And
I spent all the years in the minor league when
the guys that we drafted with, you know, the Angels
and Dodgers and the number one, two, three picks of
the organization, all the way to the last pick that
our job as coaches to develop and you know, get

(30:56):
him to the big league so they can help win
a World Series. And going through this process now on
the other side, you know, all the evaluations and all
the home and home interviews that scouts came to our
house over the winner and continue to do so. It's
just amazing how much work behind the scenes takes place.
Now I'm finally seeing it on the other side, where

(31:17):
you know, as a coach, you get them when they
just show up at the park and you work them out. Now,
this process has been going on for over a year
and now it's real. It's time that all the hard
work that the scouts and scouting directors and all the
area scouts put all their homework together, and then they
go ahead and pick a guy they choose that's going
to someday represent them at the major league level. So yeah,

(31:39):
learning experience for me and Brady and Trey that's going
through this, my whole family. We're excited and the process
has been really really smooth.

Speaker 9 (31:47):
Hey, the journey starts today as Brady Ebel will be
drafted out of Corona High School and he'll have his
dad and his mom right by his side.

Speaker 8 (31:56):
Do you know.

Speaker 9 (31:57):
Thanks a lot for the time. Congratulations to you Brady
and certainly the entire Ebel family. You guys are the
reason why you have two really good young men that
are that have their feet connected to the grounds. So
you guys should be very very proud as well. You
did a great job.

Speaker 3 (32:16):
Well, thank you, David, and you know I appreciate that.
And it's it's a big day, so thank you for
having me on and we'll see what happens.

Speaker 9 (32:23):
I think Shannon's taking more of the credit.

Speaker 8 (32:29):
Credit.

Speaker 3 (32:29):
You can have all the credit. There's no ego in
my head. So if mom wants to say I had
the boys good, he wants to say they she taught
him how to hit. Go for it, Shan, I'm all in.

Speaker 9 (32:40):
Thanks Dina. We'll see you when when the All Star
break is over at Dodger Stadium.

Speaker 3 (32:45):
All right, David, thank you.

Speaker 9 (32:47):
There, he goes the Dodger third base coach Dino Ebel. Tim,
we'll send it back to you in the studio.

Speaker 2 (32:52):
All right, thanks a lot, d V.

Speaker 1 (32:53):
Great to hear from Dino Ebel hours before the MLB
Draft again, his son Brady from Corona High School, expected
to go high in today's amateur draft. Lead you have

Up presented by your Southern California Toyota Dealers. Work hard,

Turbo Jars engine. It's the truck built for the bull.
See your Toyota dealer today. They make it easy. Robbie
Ray on the Mound, thirty three year old left hand
are finally healthy after missing a year and a half
with Tommy John surgery nine and three, two sixty three
e Rara. He's an All Star this year, making his
twentieth start last time out, five and two third innings,

(33:52):
one run, four hits, five strikeouts, a no decision against
the Phillies, facing.

Speaker 2 (33:55):
The Dodgers for the twenty third time in his career.

Speaker 1 (33:57):
Remember, he spent six seasons with the Arizona die Backs
early in his career nine and six with a three
thirty three Erra. Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the Mount eight and
seven with two seventy seven eer Ray, twenty six year
old right hander, also an All Star, making his nineteen
start last time out, well, let's forget about it. Two
thirds of an inning, five runs on four hits, a
home run, two walks in a loss to the Rowers.

Speaker 2 (34:17):
Facing the Giants for a third time in his major
league career.

Speaker 1 (34:20):
Dodgers Giants were fifteen minutes away from first pitch. Keys
to the game, our next, I'm Tim Kasey's the world
Champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.

This is Marongo Casino Dodgers on tack on your home

Speaker 1 (34:38):
Dodgers at Giants final game before the All Star Break.
A couple of all stars going out at Yoshinoba Yamamoto,
Robbie Ray the pitching matchup. So go back out to
the booth one final time before first pitch. Tim nevert
Rick Monday, Guys.

Speaker 5 (34:49):
Tim, thanks again, we count you down to the first
pitch here in San Francisco, the Giants and the Dodgers
rubber game of this three game set. Yamamoto, coming off
of his worst start a major leaguer, only lasted two
thirds of an inning, gave up five runs, three of
them earned, and it was the first time in his
career he didn't strike out a single batter in one

(35:10):
of his starts.

Speaker 2 (35:11):
But when you look at.

Speaker 5 (35:12):
Things again, his batting average against just one ninety nine.
But one key mode to look at, I think is
the fact that the majority of the runs that he
has given up have come on home runs. Fifty seven
percent of the runs he's allowed of come on home runs.
But he doesn't give up a lot of long balls.
And this is a hard park to get home runs.

Speaker 6 (35:29):
Yeah, ten home runs he's allowed. And he faced the
Giants on Friday the thirteenth a few weeks ago, but
he was the loser in that one went four and
two thirds and he threw one hundred and two pitches.
So he's had a couple of misfires. The last outing
and that outing on Friday the thirteenth in June against
the Giants trying to turn things around again. He's allowed

(35:50):
below a two hundred batting average against him. Robbie Ray,
on the flip side of the coin, has allowed just
a two to zh one average against him. One quick note,
Robbie Raid's unusual for a left handed pitcher to have
fourteen stolen bases against him already, but that's how it stands.

Speaker 5 (36:07):
Giants have won fifteen of nineteen Robbie Rays starts. Dodger
is looking to take one today here in San Francisco.
Robbie Ray at nine and three on Hnobo Yellamoto eight
and seven final game of this three game set, and
then it's the All Star break.

Speaker 1 (36:22):
Timp all right, first pitch is next afterwards, I got
you cover with all the postgame festivities as it Dodgers
and Giants wrap up their final game before the All
Star Break. This has been Morogo Casino Dodgers on Deck
