Speaker 1 (00:00):
Now your host walking you up the first pitch. It's
Tim kase.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Hi, everybody, and welcome in.
Speaker 3 (00:07):
It's Morongo Casino Dodgers on Deck, your official Dodger pregame show.
As your world champion Los Angeles Dodgers fifty eight and
forty two on this season, first place atop the NL West.
But they're going through some tough times right now. Dodgers
fresh off getting swept at home by the Milwaukee Brewers.
(00:27):
Dodgers have dropped ten of their last twelve going back
to pre All Star break. As the Dodgers now continue
their homestand looking for a w as a Minnesota Twins
come to Dodger Stadium show, Hey Otani on the mound.
First pitch from Dodger Stadium is coming up at seven
to ten. Between then and that, we got a lot
to get to here on Marogo Casino Dodgers on Deck.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
We're ready here from David Vaz say he'll.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
Go one on one with former Dodger now Minnesota twin
Brock Stewart. Kirsten Watson from Sports in at LA will
join us. We got your Dodgers magical moment. We'll hear
from the skipper Dave Roberts and at just a few
minutes we'll head out to the Gallpin Motors broadcast booth
with Steven Nelson and Rick Monday, who is back in
the booth.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
Well.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
The Dodgers yesterday played host of the Milwaukee Brewers in
the final game of their three game set and looking
to get a win, salvaging a series and at least
getting one win in this season series against the Brewers,
and the Dodgers fell shorts is Jose Cantana outpitched Clayton Kershaw.
Kershaw went four to third, give up three runs on
(01:32):
five hits. They gave him an early lead. Dalton rushing
a sack fighter right and scored Andy Paez as the
Dodgers grabbed a one to nothing lead. Then Showy Otani
followed up with a two run home run as the
Dodgers were up three to nothing. Well, the Dodgers scored
three in the bottom of the third, only to see
the Brewers answer back with three runs off Clayton Kershaw
(01:53):
on the top half of the fourth inning, but some
sloppy play behind him.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
This is not on Kershaw.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
Airs galore behind Kershaw on the mound as the Brewers
tied it up at three. In the bottom of the fifth, though,
the Dodgers would take the lead thanks.
Speaker 4 (02:08):
To US three Ruiz first pitch swinging high in the ear,
straightaway center field.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
Perkins at the wall.
Speaker 5 (02:15):
It is gone.
Speaker 6 (02:18):
As Stuti Ruiz with a tie breaking blast to dead
center field. It's now four to three Dodgers on his
first Dodger.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Home run as Toty Luiz goes deep.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
That's the top tier play the game, brought to you
by Arco Quality, top tier gas for less as. Thanks
to that Ruiz home run, the Dodgers were up four
to three. But again when the Dodgers scoring the bottom
of the inning, they come back the next top half
of the inning and they give up runs. This time
in the top half of the sixth inning, Luke Trevino
(02:54):
gave up a pair of runs as the Brewers took
a six to four lead. The Dodgers would get a
little closer in the ninth as they made things interesting.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
Runners on for Dalton rushing.
Speaker 4 (03:06):
Here's the pitch rushing with a Tapper rolling to the
left side.
Speaker 6 (03:09):
It spins away for Morties. Bet can't throw across his body.
They can't make the play. Smith comes home. Pops is
gonna hold a third.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
This game is not over yet.
Speaker 6 (03:21):
The Dodgers are within one that had some serious side
spin that made the tough play even tougher and in
fact impossible his rushing reaches.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
To continue the ninth Dalton rushing gets on base because
of the air, Will Smith scored. Andy Poys was at
second base, should have been running the entire time, ends
up stopping at third. That is where the tying run
would stay as the next batter of mookie bets lined
out to center field. Ballgame over as the Brewers finish
(03:54):
off the season sweep of the Dodgers. A six to
five win yesterday at a Dodger Stadium is a can
kinda gets the win. Luke Trevino gets the loss as
the Dodgers fault to fifty eight and forty two overall
in the season, their lead just three and a half
games in the NL West over the Padres, they look.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
To put all of that behind them.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
We're show Hey Otani on the mound first pitch at
seven ten and with more let's head out to the
Galpin Motors broadcast booth on this Monday night as we
say hello to Stephen Nelson and Rick Monday guys.
Speaker 4 (04:24):
All right, Tim, We're back at it at Dodgers Stadium
on an unhappy Monday. Because the Dodgers have had the
case of the Mondays for the last three or so weeks.
It is good to have the Monday back Rick Monday.
I gotta tell you, Moe, you didn't miss much first
series out of the All Star break, So maybe you
having you around will bring back some fundamental baseball, especially
(04:45):
in the outfield.
Speaker 7 (04:46):
Well, hopefully that's going to be the case. In fact,
you bring up a point that Dave Roberts was talking
about earlier this afternoon in talking to the members of
the media. I mean, let's look at it very honestly.
Dodgers have lost ten to the last twelve. They've not
played well ef for Dave Roberts say, look, we need
to do a better job in doing the little things
to win. And then someone asked you, said, well, what
do you mean about the little things? And we're around
(05:08):
the game a lot and we kind of understand what's
going on. He goes, well, first of all, fielding the
ball correctly. Now this sounds kind of basic, but they've
gotten away from doing it consistently. He goes throwing to
the right base, catching the ball properly, running the bases correctly,
and smartly winning the three to two count as a hitter,
and having smart at bats overall. Now you lump it
(05:31):
in and say, well, it sounds rather simplistic. Well it is,
but this can become a very complicated game in between
the ears in the thought process, and the Dodgers can
play better. They know it, And tonight's a good night
to start. Now.
Speaker 4 (05:43):
A couple of things. You talk about little things we
know in this game they make the biggest impact. And
when you consistently do not do the little things, big
piles of you know what can can accumulate in a hurry.
And that's what happened, has happened here, and now Dave
Roberts has talked about the emotions. The frustration is not
just building. It's now evident in the Dodger clubhouse. But really,
(06:06):
I mean, mo, I'm looking for your experience here to
impart on our listeners. It can happen so quick changing
the other way.
Speaker 7 (06:14):
Yeah, And I think that Clayton Kershaw made a statement
the way he came off the field and really showed
his frustration. And I think maybe a little discuss may
not be the right word, but I looked at it
a little discussed and the play behind it. He expected
more of himself, first of all, because he has high
standards for himself. He wants to be the best teammate
(06:34):
that anyone's ever had. But the other part is the
Dodgers did not catch the ball, throw the ball, run
the bases, or even have thought process at times it
was going to help them get to a point to
win a ball game. And for Krushaw, he really deserved
a better outing than what it was because his pitch
count kept going up and up and up. Because players
were not made.
Speaker 4 (06:54):
Other than that, they did everything. Okay, hey, we got
a joke about it, and try and turn the around
here at Dodgers Stadium with the Dodgers have lost six
straight home games. It's the longest home losing streak they
have seen since twenty seventeen. But you recall that year
turned out all right, It did not. It was not
(07:16):
the death knell of the twenty seventeen season either. So
the Dodgers and Twins. The Minnesota Twins third place in
the American League Central, one of the worst teams in
the American League. Perhaps they are the remedy for the
Dodgers woes. It'll be David Festa from Minnesota and Shohe
Otani with the Dodgers in front of dustin May. We'll
dive into some keys the next time Mo and I
(07:36):
are back with you. Tim back to you all right.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
Thank you Nelly, as we cut you down to first pitch.
Dodger fan, get that game day meal on.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
How about Shaky's Pizza Parlor. It's time for dinner. What
are your.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
Shaky Pizza Chicken Mojo's right now at Shakys dot com.
We're Robin running here on Dodgers on Night coming up. Well,
here for the manager, Dave Roberts, David Vada segoes one
on one. Brock Stewart, Yeah, former Dodger pitcher out with
the Twins. We'll dive deeper into this pitching matchup. But
up next to your Otani you rewind and we visit
with sports and at LA's kirston Watsons. We lead you
(08:07):
up to Dodgers and Twins on World Series Replica Ring
Night at at Dodgers Stadium. First forty attendants enjoy that
first pitch coming up at seven ten. I'm Tim Kase
is the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Nowork.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
This is Morongo Casino Dodgers Hunting game on your home
for La Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
It's the Dodgers and the Twins on this Monday ninth show,
Hey Otani David fest of the pitching matchup.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
First pitch in Dodger Stadium is coming up at seven ten.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
This is the Otani rewind.
Speaker 4 (08:47):
Two balls, no strikes, Tana out of the stretch and
Otani laces it to left field, pushes Collins back toward
the wall.
Speaker 6 (08:55):
Dun one opposite field laser beinging from the show Hey Toni,
who is going deepen?
Speaker 2 (09:02):
Back to that games.
Speaker 6 (09:04):
A two run opposite field home run for so Hey
number thirty four on the season and now the Dodgers
lead three to know things show Hey.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
Otani with home run number thirty four. Yesterday a two
run home run in the third off Jose Cantana RBIs
number sixty four and sixty five, show Hey Otani one
for three the home run, the two Ribbies on base
twice with the walk now hitting two seventy five on
this season. Unfortunately, the Dodgers fell to the Brewers yesterday
(09:36):
sixty five.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
This is Kirston's corner with Kirston Watson.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
Hey Kirson now joins this from the stadium. Brought to
my Cars for Kids. Ready to donate your old car?
Call eight seven seven Cars for Kids right now Fredley
agent standing by to take your donations. That's Cars with
the K to donate your car today, all right, Dodger fans.
Speaker 2 (09:56):
A sigh of relief now as Freddie.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
Freeman is oh okay, In fact he's in a line
of tonight Gerson.
Speaker 8 (10:03):
Exactly, a huge sigh of relief, because, look, it sometimes
feels like when it rains, it pours, and it has
been feeling like things have been pouring since max months.
He went on the il. We obviously thought that was
a major injury. It ended up being a bad bone bruise.
But he's progressing so well. And so then when you
see Freddy Freeman he gets hit by a pitch immediately
walks off the field. What's going through your head is
(10:25):
just kind of like, oh my goodness, what is happening?
And so last night he did have scams and X rays.
It all came back negative, which is huge. He did
have some bad swelling and he even said the biggest
like scare factor of all of this is where he
got hit by a pitch. It was on his back wrist,
which is his left wrist, and it happened to be
the same one that he broke back in twenty seventeen.
(10:47):
So immediately you're just thinking, like, this is the wrist
I've already heard. You know that you feel the immediate pain,
the swelling. Worst case is it's something is fractured or broken.
So this all is best case scenario that he is
back in the lineup. He even said that he got
to kind of work through a few things mechanically. Yesterday
was family day for the Dodgers, so of course his
(11:08):
family was here. He spent some time with his dad,
who was one of his hitting coaches and very close
confident when it comes to just how he continues to
work on things, especially at the plate. So he said
that he kind of went through some photos, some video
and looked at something from the World Series and it's
kind of clicking for him right now. So he was
in the cage today on the field during batting practice,
(11:30):
and he feels really good heading into this game. So
you know what, maybe he was a little risk scare
that he needed to kind of just get things going
and get back on track. But we'll see how he
can bring it into tonight's game.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
Dodgers need to win.
Speaker 3 (11:42):
They need some positive results at the plate on the
mound defensively, especially that feels like the right guy on
the mound tonight and Show Hey, Oh Tony.
Speaker 8 (11:52):
You know what Show Hey brings is he just brings
a different edge. Obviously we see we've seen what he
can do offensively and how he shows up in big moments.
It just kind of feels like storybook moments sometimes. But
what he does on the mound is it's a different
focus and a different energy. And obviously he is a competitor.
We have other guys who are huge competitors as well.
(12:14):
But even I remember after the game in San Francisco,
I was sitting with some of the guys on the
team bus and they were talking about just the stuff
that Shoeo Tani has and how it plays. It's just
it's electric for them as well, and sometimes you just
need that. It's a new day. They need to get
back on tracks, start a new start, a new win streak,
and so hopefully he can do just that with kind
(12:35):
of the edge that he brings. Dave Roberts did say
that the plan for him is only three innings and
then Dustin May will take over. Bullpen is a bit
taxed right now, so the hope is that between the
two of them they can take down this whole game.
But obviously we'll see what happens. But they are thrilled
about showhy Big on the mound today and just kind
of how the stuff plays, what he brings. Everyone's locked
in and we'll see how it all plays out.
Speaker 3 (12:57):
First things first, get a good outing from show Ain't,
get some offense behind him, and let's get a win.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
Thank you, Grison.
Speaker 3 (13:03):
We'll check out with you after the game. Still they
come here, I'm Morongo Casino. Dodgers on deck. Will dive
deeper into this pitching matchup. David vat Sego's one on
one with former Dodger now Twin pitcher Rock Stewart. But
I'm next, we get you an injury report and we'll
hear from the manager Dave Roberts. It's the Dodgers and
the Minnesota Twins on this Monday night. First pitch is
seven to ten. I'm Tim Kats's the world champion Los
Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
This is Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck on your home
for the blue all season long.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
Marago Casino Dodgers on Deck continues on this Monday night
as we lead you up to first pitch from the
Ravine Dodgers and the Twins Morongo Casino Resort it SPA
a Grand Slam for good Times show Hey o'tani and
David Festa the pitching matchup in the series opener.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
First pitch set for seven ten.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
This is the LA Dodgers Injury.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
Report by UCLA Healthy Official medical partner of the Los
Angeles Dodgers. Keiky Hernandez on the il Max Muncie progressing
on the I L at the left knee bone bruise.
Michael Kopek is trending in the right direction. Tony Gonsolin,
Blake Snell, Blake trying it all on the iel Blake
Snell through yesterday in Oklahoma City, Blake trining. He also
(14:19):
threw an okay, see He's trending to return very soon.
All right, Let's head back out to Dodger Stadium and
check out with the Dodger Skipper.
Speaker 5 (14:26):
Anything else.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
The questions for Dave.
Speaker 2 (14:29):
Dave can you just describe Dave.
Speaker 5 (14:31):
Can you talk about the pressure in.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
The dugouts with Dave Roberts.
Speaker 9 (14:37):
It's still pretty impressive. Obviously tonight the plans for him
to go get through three innings and then obviously you
know our pen is kind of spent a little bit,
so having Dustin behind him is great. Brought up Enriquez,
so for some coverage with Trevino. For Trevino who we
(15:00):
dfa'd and as far as show, Hey, I think it's
just I like the demeanor on the mound. What to
improve on. I think the only thing right now in
this small sample is just to continue to build up.
I think the fastball to strike throwing, the secondaries are
all in a good spot. So it's just more of
just building up that pitch count in innings.
Speaker 10 (15:23):
And you mentioned that for Destines could be a one offer.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
Him coming out into bulleting, but so something that you
want to see from him in.
Speaker 9 (15:29):
This outing specifically, you know, it's certainly not having pitched
out of the pen in quite some time might be
an adjustment, probably will be an adjustment. But I think
that just to kind of come out with some aggressiveness tonight,
and you know that He's going to take the bulk
(15:51):
of the game, and there's a pitch count already built
in for him as far as length that he can
go as long as we need him to go. It's
a left right lineup, but I think it's just for him.
It's just the consistency of the delivery and then the
quality of pitch making.
Speaker 3 (16:07):
All Right, there's Dave Roberts talking about show hel Tani
getting the start tonight's three innings. Right around there is
what we expect. When we continue here on Dodgers on Deck,
we'll check out with David Vassay get to the very latest,
So we lead you up to first pitch Dodgers and Twins.
I'm Tim Kas's, the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
As we were saying, this is Marongo Casino, Dodgers on
Deck on the official home of LA Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 3 (16:36):
Dodgers and Twins start a three game set. Dodgers looking
to get a win, get back on track in the
NL West. Show Hal Tan, he's just the guy to
have on the mouth. They'll get the start. First pitch
coming up at seven ten.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
Joining Tim Kats on Dodgers on Deck, I.
Speaker 5 (16:51):
Accept everybody for who they are.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
This is Dodger insider David Bass right DV.
Speaker 3 (16:57):
Freddie Freeman left the game yesterday. Hey, he is bounced
back and back in the lineup tonight.
Speaker 5 (17:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (17:03):
I was surprised to him to see Freddy's name in
the starting lineup. But while we were doing Dodger Talk
after the game yesterday, it was family day here at
Dodger Stadium and Freddie had somewhat of a blue wrapping
on his left wrist and he was playing cornhole with
his family, so it didn't seem like he was in
that much discomfort. He was flexing his left hand, but
(17:24):
nothing that indicated that it was serious. And when the
X rays came back negative, obviously that was a sigh
of relief. And then today he was taking ground balls
at first base and took batting practice on the field,
something he doesn't normally do, and all came out well,
and here he.
Speaker 5 (17:41):
Is in the starting lineup.
Speaker 10 (17:43):
You know, it's going to take a lot to get
Freddie out of the lineup, and certainly his left wrist
must not be too sore. And maybe part of the
reason why he wanted to fight his way in there
is because David Festa is on the mound.
Speaker 3 (17:56):
Davis brought to you by twenty twenty five four one
to fifty from California, Best Allien Truck Brand. It's time
to see Ford in a new light. Ford for America
from America. All right, David, this Minnesota's Twins team kind
of up and down season, looks like they're gonna be
probably sellars at the trade deadline. How many Twins do
you think are going to be available?
Speaker 10 (18:17):
Yeah, I talked to a source with the Twins today
and they're kind of in between. They're four and a
half games back of the final wildcard spot. They wear
a playoff team a couple of years ago. They still
have some good players up the middle in Carlos Correa
and Byron Buxton, but they're kind of in that in
between area. They do have relief pitchers that are very
(18:38):
coveted by other teams, including setup man Griffin Jacks, who
this year, in forty two innings has sixty seven strikeouts.
He's thirty years old, right handed, that is on the
Dodgers radar and other team's radar. And of course Joan Duran,
the closer for the Twins, under control for two more
years is certainly on every but he's radar. But those
(19:01):
are the two that everybody's talking about. Joe Ryan, who
you're not going to see in this series, is also
a name that's been out there that the Red Sox
has interest in. So they have three pitchers that certainly
are going to be not I won't say they'd be
packing their bags, but certainly are gonna be watching the
(19:22):
trade deadline very closely on July thirty first.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
We'll find out next Thursday with that trade deadline. Blake Snell,
what's the latest David with the Dodger leftander.
Speaker 5 (19:32):
I saw him today.
Speaker 10 (19:33):
He was in great spirits and really happy with his
outing yesterday in Sacramento. He actually told me that when
he faced Austin Barnes, he told him, I'm gonna throw
you a fastball before the game.
Speaker 5 (19:43):
Let's see what you could do with it.
Speaker 10 (19:44):
Well, Barnes hit it up the middle for an RBI
single and Snow wasn't mad at him. But as far
as where he's at and when he may return, still
looks like he'll pitch before the end of the month,
possibly by the end of this next upcoming road trip him.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
David real quick showy o Tani. We heard from Dave Roberts.
Speaker 3 (20:04):
Nothing after three Indians, right, I mean, even if he's
got you know, short one, two, three innings, that's good.
Speaker 2 (20:09):
That's gonna be it for tonight.
Speaker 1 (20:10):
Right.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
We're not gonna see him go any longer than that.
Speaker 10 (20:13):
Yeah, it seems like that's the trend. Uh two three
consecutive starts of the same amount of innings, So this
would be the second time the Dodgers allow him to
go three innings, So it seems like that would be
the case. And Dustin May going to make his first
relief appearance piggybacking, go Tawny tonight.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
David appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (20:30):
We will check back in with you in just a
little bit. Still to come here On Wrongo Casino Dodgers
on Deck, you are gonna hear from Bron Stewart. Yes,
former Dodger. Now twin will dive deeper to this pitching matchup.
But up next you Dodger Magical Moment Dodgers Twins first
pitch is seven ten. I'm Tim Katson. This is World
Champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 1 (20:55):
This is Morongo Casino Dodgers Hunting on your la Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
It's the Dodgers and the Minnesota Twins on World Series
Ring Replican ninth for the first forty thousand in attendance.
Hope you can get your World Series Ring show. Hey

Speaker 6 (21:20):
Hot Dog?
Speaker 1 (21:20):
Who wants the hot cod It's time for the Hawfey
Magical Moment. It's Magical presented by Hawby Hot Dogs.
Speaker 3 (21:29):
Ah the Dodgers taking on the Twins. We go back
to April thirteenth, twenty twenty two at Target Field in Minnesota.
Speaker 2 (21:36):
It was the early part of that season.
Speaker 3 (21:38):
It was a day game in Minnesota. Clayton Kershaw on
the mound and Clayton Kershaw flirting with perfection.
Speaker 11 (21:46):
Man, she's gotten a little older. He's found some new
ways to get guys out and this is an old
way right here. Swinging a miss and that strikeout number
ten for Kershaw, the sixty sixth time in his career
he has had a game of ten strikeouts for more
two two pitch swing and a miss, strike three, strike
out number thirteen for Kershaw.
Speaker 7 (22:09):
Man, that was the Uncle Charlie Kerbbull.
Speaker 11 (22:11):
Kershaw's out shining them. All today. One to zero pitch,
There's a ground ball toward the middle. It is scooped
up by Gavin Lux. He played the short hop. What
a play by Lucks on the first ershell us out
and Kershaw is perfect through seven innings.
Speaker 3 (22:27):
Clayton Kershaw a perfect game through seven innings. He struck
out thirteen. It was his season debut, but Dave Roberts,
after eighty pitches, elected to take Clayton Kershaw out of
the game. After seven perfect innings, Alex Vessi would take
over and it was broken up the perfect game.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
In the eighth inningan win. A single was hit.
Speaker 3 (22:49):
By the Minnesota Twins, but seven perfect innings. Back in
April of twenty twenty two, Clayton Kershaw against the Minnesota Twins.
This Hofey magical moment brought to by Offfey Hot Dogs.
Hoffey CAW's local treasure for nearly one hundred years. Hoffey
Hot talks local and so great. When we continue here,
I'm Wrongo Casino, Dodgers on deck.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
We will check you out. Rick Monday.
Speaker 3 (23:10):
We're leading you up to first pitch on this Monday,
Dodgers Twins.
Speaker 2 (23:14):
I'm Tim Kasey's.
Speaker 3 (23:15):

Brizon startup. We're thirty five minutes away from the start

Speaker 1 (23:45):
And now joined by David Massey. Here's La Dodgers broadcaster
and World Series champion Dodger Rick Monday.
Speaker 5 (23:55):
All Right, the Dodgers lucky charm is back.
Speaker 10 (23:58):
Rick Monday has returned Dodger Town and Vero Beach and
the Dodgers need your rick.
Speaker 7 (24:04):
This is how it goes down, David Tonight. Tonight the
Dodgers start the longest win streak of the season. I've
said this a couple of different times. Hasn't quite the hit,
but it's going to. That's the mindset that you have
to have when you take the field as a player,
as a team, That's the feeling that you have to
have when you're on the field. So they've not played
(24:27):
well in recent times, and I think is probably just
gnawing at them knowing that they are a much better
team and the ability level has not really come out
on a consistent basis, and hopefully that's going to be
the case tonight. No better time than to do it
tonight as we kind of celebrate the replica the Dodgers
World Championship rings being a distributed There's.
Speaker 10 (24:48):
Forty thousand fans that are coming in getting those replica rings,
and you never know which player's name is going to
be on the side of the ring.
Speaker 7 (24:56):
Yeah, so we'll compare which rings that we got tonight.
Know that we have some rings at home that have
our names on them. But this is kind of you know,
what's really kind of neat, though, is that I watched
a couple of people coming in with the rings right
still in the box. They had not opened the bumper,
and the excitement of just the thrill of opening it
(25:18):
up and understanding, Okay, this is a replica, and if
this is a repula, what the heck does the original
look like? And we can answer that, folks. It's absolutely
marvelous the real one.
Speaker 10 (25:29):
Yeah, the player rings open up, you could see the
stadium inside for sure.
Speaker 5 (25:33):
Rick.
Speaker 10 (25:34):
When you look at this Dodger team, I'm glad you
brought up the World Championship.
Speaker 5 (25:37):
They know they're going to be in October.
Speaker 10 (25:39):
Some suggested this part of the season the Dodgers may
be a little bored with the regular season.
Speaker 7 (25:45):
Well, they better not be two board at this point
of the season at all, because let's look at the facts.
The Pondres are not going against a real competition as
far as a high level team over the next three days.
How does he go face the Minnesota Twins. We want
nothing better to do than to knock off the World
champions I mean, that's just in their bag. They're in
(26:08):
third place in the American League Central. So here's the
bottom line. If the Dodgers get swept in this series
and the Padres win all three of theirs, the Dodgers
will go on the next road trip just a half
game in front of the second place Padres in the
Western Division of the National League.
Speaker 5 (26:22):
Yeah, the Padres have not gone anywhere.
Speaker 7 (26:24):
Well. Dave Roberts was talking about it earlier today and
you caught some of his comments. He said, hey, look,
we've got to play better in a lot of different areas.
And they may sound kind of trivial. But for example,
he says, look, we have to field the ball correctly.
We have to catch the ball, we have to throw
the ball to the right base, we have to run
the bases correctly and smartly. And he because from an
(26:46):
offensive standpoint, we need to start winning more three ball,
two strike counts. That's something that they're not really doing
on a consistent basis at the present time. And we
have to have some smart at bats. That's something that's
not going to go. And quite frankly, I think there
was a message sent from Clayton Kershaw yesterday and the
(27:08):
fact that he was not happy with the way he pitched,
and he has high expectations of himself, and he was
not happy with the way the ball club played behind him.
And he was absolutely one hundred percent correct if that
was his feeling, because they did not play good baseball.
They didn't catch it, they didn't throw it, and they
didn't have particularly smart base running. A couple of times, Hey.
Speaker 5 (27:29):
I like that, Rick.
Speaker 10 (27:30):
You got to have a veteran like that make everybody
else a little uncomfortable when things don't go right.
Speaker 7 (27:35):
No, and it's the small things. It's not like, hey,
we're asking a two hundred hitter lifetime to hit three hundred. Well,
and that's not what is the case, asking to play
up to your ability. And this is a team that
has not really played consistently of recent times up to
their ability. And that's why if you look at it,
they have lost now ten of the last twelve games.
(27:56):
And in that period of time, yes, there was one
game they give up eighteen runs, but the last dozen
games they've been outscored seventy one runs to thirty six.
Speaker 10 (28:05):
They got to turn that around. Tonight's yeah, tonight's the night.
Speaker 5 (28:08):
Yeah, so you have to.
Speaker 7 (28:09):
Have that feeling too along with everyone else.
Speaker 10 (28:11):
Well, Rick Monday's back. We know what's gonna happen. That's
a Dodger win.
Speaker 7 (28:14):
As soon as the alarm clock went off, said, hey,
today's today.
Speaker 5 (28:17):
There's my number one guy, Rick Monday. We'll send it
back to you in the studio.

a Dodger player.
Speaker 2 (29:35):
It's an engagement of endearment.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
This is high and tight.
Speaker 10 (29:39):
All right, We're live at Dodgers Stadium and I'm here
with one of my favorite people.
Speaker 5 (29:43):
He was the starting pitcher for the Dodgers.
Speaker 10 (29:45):
He has found his way in the Twins bullpen, and
that is the one and only Brock Stewart.
Speaker 5 (29:50):
Great to have you back at Dodgers Stadium.
Speaker 12 (29:53):
It's good to be back. I cannot believe I'm one
of your favorite people. I don't know what I did
to deserve that, but I'm honored.
Speaker 5 (29:58):
Well.
Speaker 10 (29:59):
First and Foremo, you may not be a starter, you
may be one of the best relievers in the American League,
but you still got that. Jason Priestley, Brandon Walsh, great
hair going.
Speaker 12 (30:10):
It's always gonna be there, hopefully. I mean I got
the jeans both. I think both grandparents, both sets of grandparents,
you know, held their hair for a long time. So
uh yeah, I mean I guess I got that going
for me.
Speaker 10 (30:23):
Is it great to see Dodger bench coach Danny Layman.
How many of the familiar faces do you still remember
from your days with the Dodgers.
Speaker 12 (30:30):
Yeah, it's mostly staff It's great to see Danny. It's
it's mostly staff. I think the only players are Will Smith, Munsey.
Speaker 5 (30:36):
And like d May and don't forget the big one.
Speaker 12 (30:40):
Yeah, who am I.
Speaker 5 (30:41):
Missing the future Hall of Famer? Oh curse? Yeah? Yeah yeah, yeah,
yeah yeah yeah, you remember him, right, Yes, I remember him.
He's still here.
Speaker 12 (30:48):
That's awesome to see him get three thousand k's.
Speaker 5 (30:52):
And still pitching.
Speaker 12 (30:53):
Well, I mean, that's really cool to see. He's worked
so hard and he's been, you know, one of the
best teammates I've had when it comes to you know,
just watching how he works and kind of gaining some
knowledge on and off the field. He's the man, and yeah,
thrilled to see him still doing it.
Speaker 10 (31:08):
What do you remember the most about being a rookie
in the same clubhouse with Kershaw at the peak of
his powers.
Speaker 12 (31:15):
Yeah, I just remember having my tail between my legs.
To be honest with you, I mean I didn't know
any of the guys, so I wasn't in Big Lea
camp in twenty sixteen, and then I got to the
clubhouse and there's guys like Kersh, Adrian and Zalez, Chase Utley,
you know, a j ellis some old savvy veterans, and I,
you know, I'd never met anybody, so I was scared
for sure. But that's like what sticks out most. But no,
(31:38):
I just just the first class treatment from everybody in
the organization is what I This is what really stuck
out to me.
Speaker 10 (31:43):
Brock Stewart now one of the best relievers in the
American League pitching for the Twins, not forgetting the little
people like Clayton Kershaw. As he returns to Los Angeles, Brock,
when you come back to LA and you're this guy,
one of the more successful relievers in the America League.
Who is Brox Stewart now compared to who he was
(32:04):
when he broke in with the Dodgers.
Speaker 12 (32:05):
Oh man, I'd like to think. I'm think I'm the
same guy. Maybe opened up a little bit more, just
you know, more you know, more footing in the big
leagues nowadays. Uh so, maybe more myself over here. But no,
I'd like to think I'm the same guy. I've always
tried to be respectable to my elders and treat everybody
with respect. So I hope that people think I'm the
(32:27):
same guy.
Speaker 5 (32:28):
I don't.
Speaker 12 (32:28):
I don't think I've changed too much.
Speaker 5 (32:29):
At all.
Speaker 10 (32:30):
But as a pitcher, you found something in a facility
to make you the guy that you are.
Speaker 5 (32:35):
What led you down that path? Honestly, fate really.
Speaker 12 (32:39):
I this was COVID summer and I had like a
barbecue over at our house with some friends all outside.
We were sticking to the guidelines six feet apart.
Speaker 5 (32:47):
It's okay, we got through that.
Speaker 12 (32:50):
We did, we did. But yeah, a friend of a
friend came over and her boyfriend was named Ben Brewster,
and Ben Brewster is the co owner, co founder of
Tred Athletics.
Speaker 5 (33:02):
So we got to talking.
Speaker 12 (33:03):
I didn't know that going in when he came over,
but we got to talking, and sure enough, he opened
this place in Charlotte called Tread Athletics and they're mostly
online on Instagram, Twitter, et cetera. But yeah, it's a
baseball development specifically for pictures, you know, getting some vlo
getting stronger, faster, And yeah, I got to working with them,
and sure enough, it definitely paid off.
Speaker 10 (33:24):
And you were injured going into it or were you
hurt coming out of it a little bit of both,
because that's the debate, right. You chase philosity and you're
putting yourself in a vulnerable situation.
Speaker 5 (33:36):
No doubt.
Speaker 12 (33:36):
I mean, I think everybody gets that, but in today's
day in agent baseball, you have to throw hard if
you want to have success, especially as a right handed reliever.
So yeah, I mean I didn't feel I didn't have
anything major going into it, but you know, I got
some VLO back pretty quickly in a matter of like
two months, and then sure enough I blew out my elbow,
so I had to recover from that. But no, just really,
(33:58):
ever since I started working with tread just got that routine,
figured out what I kind of need to do to
feel strong, feel powerful, and just throw hard again honestly
off the mound. And now that I have that in
my back pocket, and you know, in the past three years,
it's been pretty fun seeing ninety six, ninety seven, ninety
eight up there. So just trying to take it one
day at a time. Still, I've been hurt a lot,
(34:19):
so I take it, take everything one day at a time.
Speaker 10 (34:22):
Do you feel like you you appreciate things more now
because you've been at the bottom and now you're at
the top.
Speaker 5 (34:30):
Yeah, yeah, for sure.
Speaker 12 (34:31):
I don't know about the bottom.
Speaker 5 (34:32):
I mean I've obviously you were at the bottom.
Speaker 10 (34:34):
Well, we're at a barbecue trying to find some guy online.
Speaker 12 (34:38):
Yeah, but I I had already had a big league career.
I mean there's you know, there's people that never make
the big leagues. So I think the people that grind
and work really hard and never make the big leagues,
I think that's you know, that's tough. I don't mean
to offend you, no, no, no offense taken, but yeah, man,
I mean just I was we were talking about the
COVID summer the other day and it's twenty twenty, and
(34:59):
everybody talking about how weird the season was, and I
was like, well, guys, I was on my butt sending home,
not employed by anybody. So yeah, I mean, those were
tough times. I thought about hanging them up, but I
really didn't think about that too hard. I always knew
I wanted to come back and get another shot, and
thank goodness I did.
Speaker 10 (35:13):
Hey, you never know, Key k Hernandez came back, a
few other Dodgers came full circle back to wearing this uniform.
You never know about Brock Stewart July thirty first, who's
only a few days away.
Speaker 12 (35:25):
We'll leave it right there. Brock sounds good. Dave appreciate
you man.
Speaker 5 (35:29):
Oh man.
Speaker 10 (35:29):
Great to see you out here. Great to see the beard.
It's looking great. The strength of brock Stewart is real.
Thanks a lot for the time.
Speaker 12 (35:36):
Thank you, my man.
Speaker 5 (35:37):
There he goes.
Speaker 10 (35:37):

Speaker 3 (38:02):
He's the Dodgers and the Minnesota Twins Show Hey Otani
on the Mount First pitch coming up at seven ten
when the Boys at Blue playing home, It's important they
gotta have the right plan to protect Dodger.
Speaker 2 (38:12):

All right, let's go back out to the booth Stephen Nelson,
Rick Monday, guys.
Speaker 4 (38:44):
Take you tc back here with mel Rick Monday as
you kind of survey this match up here. The Dodgers
welcoming the Minnesota Twins to town for a three game
series at the Twins below five hundred and those are
the types of teams that the Dodgers are feasted on
this year and twelve against losing teams. They haven't been
as good against winning teams. What are the keys to
(39:05):
snap in this three game skid, this six game home
losing streak tonight?
Speaker 7 (39:11):
I think, first of all, focus focus on the fact
that you can play better than what they've been playing.
And I think the Dodgers are sick and tired of
being sick and tired. Quite frankly, not trying to be
a play on words, but that's where they are. Showe
Heyotani's going to start. Dave Roberts said earlier that they
want to build him up, build him up in the
number of innings and also build him up in the
pitch count. It'll be probably three innings and then Dustin
May is going to come on. Made an interesting comment
(39:33):
about Dustin May. He said, look, he's used to the
situation and coming in. He said, we want him to
come in and be aggressive as he follows show hey
Otani and hopefully comes in the Dodgers have a lead
on the flip side of the coin. When the Dodgers
come on to face Festa tonight, the six foot six
right hander, be aware. He has a very good changeup.
(39:53):
He's not going to overpower the ball, but he's going
to try and get you to chase pitches just out
of the strike zone.
Speaker 4 (39:59):
And the change up is a pitch type that the
Dodgers actually haven't fared very well, though they.
Speaker 7 (40:04):
Haven't for Festive. If we look at the two stars
he's made so far in the month of July, he's
given up a batting average below two hundred, and a
lot of it is around that change up. Of course,
he has to get the secondary pitches over to really
enhance the off speed stuff.
Speaker 4 (40:17):
All right, last point, Tim is get it back to
you talk about Festa change up against the Dodgers, who
struggled against the changeup.
Speaker 1 (40:23):
Well for show.
Speaker 4 (40:24):
Hey Otani's starting this game for the Dodgers, expectation to
go three more innings today. And his last start we
saw him against the Giants. He was sitting around one hundred.
He had the upper nineties velocity going. That type of pitch,
the high velocity fastball is one that has eaten up
Minnesota all year long. It is a team that is
home run reliant. So we'll see power against power. Monomano.
(40:45):
The Dodgers against the Twins, Game one of three. First
pitch shortly, all.
Speaker 3 (40:49):
Right, first pitch, will we come back, show Hey Otani
on the mound as a Dodgers take on the Twins.
Speaker 2 (40:56):
First pitch is next. This has been wrong with Casino.
