Speaker 1 (00:42):
Hi, everybody, and I'll welcome in two more Wrongo Casino
Dodgers on Day. Hope you're well on this Tuesday night
here in southern California. Things going good for the Dodgers now.
After a win last night over the Minnesota Twins. They're
now fifty nine and forty two on this season, three
and a half games up on the Padres in the
NL West, seven games up on the Giants as they

(01:03):
go into play tonight, and the Dodgers hoping to do
it again against the Twins with Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mount.
On this tay Oscar Hernandez Bobblehead night out of Dodgers Stadium.
First pitch coming up at seven to ten. Between then
and now, we got a lot to get to here
on Moronggo Casino Dodgers on Deck, we'll dive deeper into
this pitchy matchup. Forty five minutes from now, David Vase

(01:24):
goes one on one with Tommy Edmond. We'll get your
Dodgers magical moment. We'll get you the latest Dodgers' injury news,
including Tanner Scott going on the IL just a couple
of hours ago. We'll hear from the Dodger manager, Dave Roberts.
We'll visit with Sports and at LA's Kirsten Watson. In
just a few minutes, we'll head out to the Galpin
Motors broadcast booth with Steven Nelson and Rick Monday. Well

(01:46):
last night show, Hey Otani got the start piggyback by
Dustin may Otani got into trouble early second pitch of
the game Byron Buxton took him deep a solo home
run to left center field, and the Twins jumped out
of the yearly one nothing lead, but show hey Otani,
the hitter got those runs back and more. The two

(02:07):
runs shot in the bottom of the first ning As
a Dodgers grabbed a two to one lead. In the fourth,
Will Smith his thirteenth home run of the season. This
one is straight away centered. Dodgers up three to one.
Then in the sixth, with Dustin May on the mound
giving the Dodgers what they needed, putting Zeros up on
the scoreboard, Will Smith went deep again.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
Smith clobbers another one left field in deep way back
it goes Will Smith leaves the yard for a second
time tonight. I mean that ball was right off the
bat and my man Rick Monday was reaching back to
Dwayne McDonald for the card because he knew it was

(02:50):
home run number fourteen for Smith in a four to
one Dodger lead.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Get that, Daniels Jewelers read in because Will Smith went
deep for the second time night, four hundred and thirty
five feet to less center field. Dodgers up four to one.
Into the seventh, Andy Piez with a solo home run
to the left center Dodgers grabbed a five to one
lead mentioned Dustin May piggybacking show he Otani who win
three innings. Dustin May four and two thirds walked the

(03:18):
tight rope a couple of times, walk three, give up
five hits but struck out four. Tanner Scott took over,
got out of the eighth and the ninth, things unraveled
just a little bit. He actually had to come out
of the game with left elbow inflammation. More on that
coming up as he has gone to the il. Kirby
Yates inherited a couple of base runners, gave up a
sack fly in the top half of the ninth that

(03:39):
made it a five to two game, then two to one,
two outs. Kirby Yates, trying to close the.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
Door, peaks overs front left shoulder ball in the red
glove in front of his letters.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
Oh one two.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
Correa hits a high fly ball to center field out
man at the wall. He jumps and he makes a catch.
James Algan with a game saving hit, home run, robbing catch.

Speaker 5 (04:09):
Oh did you.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
He did?

Speaker 6 (04:14):
He did? Indeed?

Speaker 1 (04:15):
James Altman going Tarzan, reaches up and brings him back.
Game over. That is the top tier play of the game.
Brought to you by Arco quality, top tier gas for less.
Kirby Yates brings a sigh of relief as the Dodgers
get the win five to two. Dustin May, the winning pitcher,
Kirby Yates picks up the save. Tanner Scott picks up

(04:37):
the whole. How about James Altman should pick up a
save as well for saving Kirby Yates there in the
ninth inning. Dodgers get the victory. Back on track now
in fifty nine and forty two, thirty four and twenty
at home, and tonight they look to make it two
straight over the Minnesota Twins with Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound.
First pitch is seven to ten and with more we
head out to the Galpin Motors broadcast booth as we

(04:58):
welcome in Stephen Nelson and Rick Monday. Guys, All right.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
TC back added at Dodgers Stadium, the Dodgers and Twins
game two of three of the Dodgers trying to clinch
a series win. And wouldn't that be something given the
recent stretch? And I suppose we know why they won
last night? Was it because of the four home runs?

Speaker 2 (05:16):
Maybe?

Speaker 3 (05:17):
Was it because of Otani and May getting twenty three
outs really without much issue. Maybe or was it just
because Rick Monday returned to the radio booth.

Speaker 6 (05:26):
I think it was the.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
Last Oh no, but we'll make this observation. Interested in
what happened in your household tonight? Okay, breakfast tasted better
till you.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
Oh my gosh. That is spot on, well, spot on,
and I'm sure it did for all the Dodgers today too.
Just to snap that six game home losing streak and
the three game slide out of the All Star break
and just get the vibes going the other way again.
It was good to see the ball go over the
fence and look at Minnesota had their opportunities, but the
pitching staff with Tani May and then Tanner Scott before

(05:58):
is injuring Kirby Eates, they bent a little bit, but
they never broke.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
It was nice to see the ball go out of
the ballpark. It was also nice to see in the
in the top of the ninth ending, the ball did
not go out of the ballpark because Dave Roberts, for
those who wondered what we're talking about, made a defensive
switch and in that ninth inning he moved James Outman
into center field and he Pa has went over to
Wright and for Outman, he had to make the leap

(06:24):
and catch a ball, and driven by Carlos Correa, the
number one fan of people that appreciate his talent when
he comes into Dodgers steady the voice that all the time, huh.
But he hit a ball that you questionably would have
tied the game had it not been for a terrific
leaping catch by James Outman. And Altman, by the way,
gets rewarded by being the starting lineup in center field tonight.

Speaker 3 (06:46):
I was just going to say that, and I loved
that from Dave Roberts and the coach. He said, hey,
you've made now two game saving catches the last five games,
because he did it in the top of the bottle
of the tenth inning in the final game in San
Francisco before the break Raphele Devers had game winning screaming
line drive written all over it, and Outman covered a
lot of ground in a short amount of time to

(07:07):
keep that game tied, send it to the eleventh where
the Dodgers eventually won that game. And so I love
that he's getting a chance to start tonight and he
will bat in the ninth spot behind Miguel Rojas, in
front of Mookie Bets in the top of the order.
But you know, as a whole, I think you know
Mookie Bets, He's got hits and runs scored in each
of his two games in the leadoff spot. Freddy Freeman

(07:29):
coming to the park yesterday after the hit by pitch
on Sunday, but just revitalized by seeing some old video
and getting something new getting into his right ankle to
try and groove that swing. He had some better passes
at the baseball you know, beyond the home runs, there
were just a lot of positive signs and hopefully a
collective ex hial boun to scare.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
The other part about Freddy Freeman too, we saw him
on the bases and the defensive play at first base.
That kind of tells us that his ankle is getting
better to where he has more mobility. And I think
from a hitting standpoint, just from a playing standpoint, when
you have that confidence says say, hey, look, yeah, he
might be at some discomfort, but you know you're not
going to damage it further by going ahead and making

(08:07):
you play big, big plays. And I think a lot
of this is mindset and hopefully things turn around with
that victory last night, and his mindset is okay, guys,
let's get back on track and let's move forward and
stretch out the lead. In the Western Division the National League.

Speaker 3 (08:20):
It'll be Yoshinobu Yamamoto against Simeon Woods richardson the Dodgers
ace against a young Twins Rioty trying to make his
mark in the Major leagues, Game two of three. When
we chat with you a little bit later, Tim, we'll
get into some keys from mom.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
All right, thank you, Nelly, as we count you down
to first. Bitch, Dodger fans, get that game day meal
on a Shaky's Pizza Parlor or your Shaky's Pizza chick
in and Mojo's right now at Shaky's dot Com. Coming
up here on Dodgers on Deck, we'll hear from the manager,
Dave Roberts Well, check in with David Matt Say. You'll
hear from Tommy Edman. We'll dive deeper of this bitch.
You match up. We got your O Tani rain Wind,

(08:55):
your magical moment. But I'm next Kirsten Watson from Sports
in LA. We'll stop by as we leave you up
the first bitch on te Oscar and then his bottlehead
night Dodgers Twins. First bitch is seven ten. Thanks for
being with us. Tim kas is the world champion Los
Angeles Dodgers all your network.

Speaker 5 (09:13):
This is Morongo Casino Dodgers Hunting game on your home
for La Dodgers Baseball.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
It's the Dodgers It twins on this Tuesday night. Yoshinobu
Yamamoto and sim in the Woods richardson the pitching match up.
First pitch coming up at seven ten.

Speaker 5 (09:31):
This is the Otani rewind the two to one and
Otani bless it. Tosses are bad.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
That ball is wak on to the batter side.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
We got our unicorns sunning in Los Angeles. Two strikeouts
in the top of the first and they go ahead.
Blast in the bottom of the first two on Dodgers
two on one out, the two two swing and I
miss strike three. Had a fastball pump by him at
ninety eight at strikeout number three for show hate two

(10:07):
gone in the second.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
He is a uniticor and he can pitch. He can hit.
Last night three innings, one run, four hits, three strikeouts
at the plates in the bottom of the first inning,
a two run home run to erase a one to
nothing Twins lead. Dodgers go on and beat the Minnesota
Twins last night five to two.

Speaker 5 (10:24):
This is Kirston's Corner with Kirston Watson.

Speaker 1 (10:29):
Dan Kirston now joins this brought to you by Cars
for Kids. Ready to donate that old car? Call eat
seven to seven Cars for Kids right now, friendly agents
are standing by to take your donation. That's Cars with
the K to donate your car today. All right, last night,
scary moment with Tanner Scott, the ninth inning, holding his
elbow his forearm came out of the game. What is
the latest on Tanner Scott, the Dodger reliever.

Speaker 7 (10:51):
Yeah, and you know last night when he spoke to
Dave Roberts, he said he felt a sting in his forearm.
And so ultimately, when you hear elbow, four arm anything,
people tend to assume the worst. Now, the good news
thus far is that Tanner Scott has come in today
feeling a little bit better. So amongst the group there
is some optimism. He took a head at MRI earlier today.
They are still awaiting the results. They don't exactly know

(11:13):
what this means. For Tanner Scott moving forward, but Dave
Roberts is under the impression that it's likely not a
season ending injury. He likely will be down for quite
some time as his forearm slash el both continues to heal.
But as of right now, they do feel like they
dodged a bullet, So we'll see what kind of happens
moving forward. But it does mean that Alex Diiaz is

(11:34):
back with the group he was activated with Tanner being
placed on the IL, and it doesn't mean that there
are gonna be some arms in the bullpen, especially in
high leverage situations, that are gonna have to step out
and get back on track.

Speaker 1 (11:45):
With the trade deadline now nine days away next Thursday,
the thirty first, a lot of teams around baseball may
become sellers, maybecome buyers. We don't know, because it's still
a lot of time between now and then, but we'll
certainly find out who's willing to give up on twenty
twenty five, who's gonna go all in for the rest
of the year. We know the Dodgers could be a
team that could be active next week.

Speaker 7 (12:08):
Yeah, and you know when you go. When we entered
this twenty twenty five season with talking to Brandon Gomes
and Andrew Friedman, they were so adamant that they wanted
to make the moves in the off season so that
they weren't buyers when it is so expensive during the
trade deadline. And so that was the acquisition of whether
it was Tanner, Scott kirbeyates, of course Blake Snell. So

(12:29):
they had made they had set the foundation to kind
of not have to make moves during the trade deadline.
But unfortunately, and this happens during the baseball season, you
can't prepare for injury. A lot of guys have been hurt.
There the other guys who are instap getting the results
that you're hoping for. So what does that mean for
the trade deadline and the Dodgers. I think when you're
talking to just the media and people around the game,

(12:52):
it does tend to be kind of looking for an
outfielder for the Dodgers. Excuse me, probably some relief pitching,
new additions like we saw with Michael Kopek last year.
When you look at who's internal, the good news is
that someone like Michael Kopek is working his way back,
Blake Trinan is getting healthy and working his way back.
He should be here relatively soon, just has a few

(13:13):
more outings on rehab. So and then you of course
have the starters, Blakes now guys like that who are
getting healthier. So there are a lot of options that
are coming in internally and just getting healthier. But there
is the big question is are they going to need
added resources with this organization. They've constantly put this team
in a position to win. They'll make the big moves
in the splash if they need to. But with talking

(13:34):
to Dave Roberts as well as Brendan Gomes just today,
they have made it clear that they feel good about
where they're at and not needing to do too much.
They feel really pleased with the organization and the group
they have right now. So we will see what happens
on July thirty. First, for the trade deadlines, it is
coming up soon.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
We will see which direction the Dodgers go. Thank you
Kirsten coming up here on Morongo, because you know Dodgers
on Deck will dive deeper into this pitching matchup. David
vet segoes one on one with Tommy Tanks Tommy Edmund.
But up next we get you an injury report, and
we'll hear from the Dodger manager Dave Roberts. It's the
Dodgers and Twins on this Tuesday night. First pitch at
seven ten. I'm Tim Katsis the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers.

(14:11):
Audio note.

Speaker 5 (14:16):
This is Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck on your home
for the blue all season long.

Speaker 1 (14:25):
Morongo Casino Dodgers on Deck continues as we leads up
to the first pitch on this Tuesday night. It's the
Dodgers and the Twins. Moronco Casino Resort inspired Grand Slam
for good times. First pitch coming up at seven ten.

Speaker 5 (14:38):
It's the LA Dodgers.

Speaker 1 (14:40):
Injury report pretended by UCLA Healthy official medical partner for
the Los Angeles Dodgers. Well, the Dodgers placing Tanner Scott
on the injured list with left forearm inflammation. He had
an MRI done today, no results as of yet, so
hopefully it's not as bad as we initially thought. We

(15:02):
heard from Curious to Watch Them just a few minutes ago.
More on Tanner Scott coming up throughout the pregame show.
Keiky Hernandez on the I l with the bad left elbow,
Max Munsey on the I L, the left me bone bruise,
Michael Kopek, Blake, Snell, Blake, trying to Rookie Sasaki, all
trying to work their way back to the active roster.
Let's head back out to Dodger Stadium and checking out
the Dodger Skipper.

Speaker 4 (15:22):
Any questions for Dave, Dave?

Speaker 5 (15:25):
Can you just describe Dave?

Speaker 1 (15:27):
Can you talk about the pressure in.

Speaker 5 (15:30):
The dugouts with Dave Roberts Dave, just how.

Speaker 8 (15:35):
So Tanner is doing, uh this feeling wise much better
than last night. We're still waiting on the uh the
doctor Latross to read the MRI results. But as far
as like feeling his emotions in a good spot, obviously

(15:57):
we're putting him on the I L. But you know,
just giving the way he feels, we're in a we're
in a better spot than we were the last night.
What that means, I'm not sure yet.

Speaker 7 (16:08):
Just in general, more optimistic than you were kind of
leaving say Dodgers TITI last night.

Speaker 6 (16:12):
Yes, do you know enough about it to be confident
it's not going to be like.

Speaker 8 (16:18):
The season and thing or I think you know, once
we get dtr elatrosss kind of take on it. We'll
obviously have more clarity, but you know, just right now,
just you know him talking to the training staff. We
feel good about it. But that's just again, that's better
than we thought last night. But hopefully, you know, we
get some good news from doctor Latrosh later today.

Speaker 1 (16:40):
Well, let's hope so that the MRI comes back clean
and you can come back here in twenty twenty five.
When we continue here on Marago Casino Dodgers on Deck,
we will check in with David vas as we're leading
out to first pitch Dodgers Twins. Tay Oskar, her name
is Bobblehead night as the ravine first pitch and seven
ten of Tim Kase is the world champion of Los
Angeles Dodgers audio.

Speaker 5 (16:59):
Now, as we were saying, this is Marongo Casino Dodgers
on Deck on the official home of LA Dodgers Baseball.

Speaker 1 (17:12):
Dodgers and Twins on this Tuesday night, Yoshinoba Yamamoto and
Simeon Woods richardson the pitching match out first pitch coming.

Speaker 5 (17:19):
Up, joining Tim Kats on Dodgers on Deck. I accept
everybody for who they are. This is Dodger insider David
Basse All right.

Speaker 1 (17:31):
David Tanner Scott goes to the injured list. What does
this mean for the state of the bullpen for the Dodgers.

Speaker 9 (17:38):
Yeah, as you heard earlier, it's not as serious right now.
The Dodgers are revealing as we thought it was last night.
But obviously the Dodgers are going to play their cards
close to the vest as we get closer to the
trade deadline.

Speaker 4 (17:52):
But hopefully it isn't too long for Tanner Scott.

Speaker 9 (17:56):
But everybody was jumping to the conclusion the Dodgers all
of a id in need four or five relief pitchers
on the trademarket. The Dodgers don't feel that way, and
Dodgers GM Brandon Gomes gave us a state of where
the Dodger bullpen is at right now.

Speaker 10 (18:11):
Obviously we wait to see on Tanner, but it's a
very strong group plus other talented guys that can mix in.
I mean, I would argue that if we stay somewhat healthy,
that this group is better than it was last year.
So you know, obviously there's a long time between now
and the stretch run, but right now, feel very good

(18:32):
about the talent level of this.

Speaker 9 (18:34):
Pitch yourself, Yeah, that's quite a statement to make if
they could stay healthy, because that's not something the Dodger
bullpen has been able to do this year. But they
are optimistic that Blake Trenon will return in August and
are hopeful that Bruce dark Graderol may return in August.
Not to mention the guy they called up today to

(18:55):
replace Tanner Scott on the roster, Alexis Diaz, who is
an also our closer with the Reds.

Speaker 4 (19:01):
A couple of years ago, the.

Speaker 9 (19:02):
Dodgers acquired him in an under the radar trade. A
month ago, the Dodgers sent him to Arizona tim He's
been in rehab assignments and regular games with Oklahoma City
and the Dodgers are their outlook for the trade deadline.
In some ways, may Hinge on how well alexisd has
does I asked Brandon Gomes about him as well.

Speaker 10 (19:25):
I mean, he's all Star caliber closer. Is you know,
he's gotten his VLO back the last time out, the
execution of you know, a plus fastball that he's had
in the past, and his slider was really encouraging.

Speaker 6 (19:38):
So he's in a great headspace. I know he's really
excited that, you know, he's able to work with our group.

Speaker 10 (19:43):
And the foundational pieces that you know he's worked on
over the last month or so, getting the velocity back
and he is delivering in a better place, are are
really encouraging. So we know what he's capable of. He's
a really talented dude.

Speaker 9 (19:57):
That's a guy a lot of people forgot about Tim,
but the Dodgers obviously made that trade to help alleviate
the pressure point of going out and making multiple trades
for a right handed reliever.

Speaker 1 (20:09):
David has brought to you by the twenty twenty five
four fifty from California's best selling truck Ran. It's time
to see forded at a new lighte Ford for America
from America. All right, looking at the offense and the
line up now, DV the top of the lineup last night,
a little bit of a change. Were going to keep
it that way and moving forward.

Speaker 9 (20:26):
Keep it going right now, I mean it's working right.
Mookie Betts looks a lot better as the leadoff hitter
in the first two games. And the one thing Dave
Roberts has talked about is the fact, even though Mooki
has struggled at the plate, his strikeout to walk ratio
is pretty much even. So he's getting on base via
the walk, and that's important in front of show Hey Otani. Also,

(20:47):
it makes complete sense to have Will Smith hitting behind
O'tani considering the way he's swinging the bat and the
way Freddie Freeman has been swinging the bat lately.

Speaker 4 (20:55):
And you get that right left, right left in your
first four.

Speaker 1 (20:59):
We'll see if I can work again tonight with this
Dodgers offense. With Yoshi on the mount damn it appreciating
Coming up here. I'm Wrongo Casino Dodgers on deck. We'll
hear from Tommy Edmond. We'll break down this pitchy matchup.
But I'm next. How about your Dodgers magical moment leading
up to Dodgers and Twins on this Tuesday Night ta
Oscar Hernandez Bobblehead Night. First pitch coming up at seven ten.

(21:21):
I'm Tim Kasis, the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.

Speaker 5 (21:28):
This is Wrongo Casino Dodgers Hunting game on your home
for La Dodgers Baseball.

Speaker 1 (21:37):
It's the Dodgers and the Minnesota Twins on this Tuesday night,
Game two of this three game set. As the Dodgers
look to make it two straight wins. Yoshinobu Yamamodol on
the mount, first pitch at seven ten.

Speaker 4 (21:55):
Who wants.

Speaker 5 (21:57):
It's time for the hawfing magical moment.

Speaker 1 (22:00):
It's magical.

Speaker 5 (22:02):
By hawpy hot jobs.

Speaker 1 (22:04):
Well, the Dodgers taken on the Twins. To go back
to nineteen sixty five in the Fall Classic that World Series.
That year, it was the Dodgers against the Twins. We
go to Game seven in Minneapolis, Sandy Kofax on the mound,
and he pitched the gym.

Speaker 8 (22:20):
He did it.

Speaker 11 (22:21):
Sandy Kobax gets his tenth strikeout, his second consecutive shutout
of the Twins on Monday on a four hitter, today
on a three hitter Acoa. Every pitcher, of course, likes
the finish game with a strikeo. This was, of course
not a game. This was the seventh game of the

(22:43):
World Series.

Speaker 12 (22:44):
But here's the fella who gave the Dodgers the championship.
Sandy in Los Angeles, when you pitched your seven or
nothing shut out, you were quoted as saying after the game,
I feel one hundred years old.

Speaker 5 (22:57):
So today, how do you feel one hundred and one?

Speaker 6 (23:00):
One hundred?

Speaker 12 (23:01):
And I feel great.

Speaker 3 (23:02):
Vitty I don't know.

Speaker 6 (23:03):
I don't have to go out there anymore.

Speaker 12 (23:04):
For about four months, Sandy hit appeared from upstairs. If
your fastball was really your only pitch for quite some time.

Speaker 5 (23:11):
Yes, it was.

Speaker 3 (23:12):
I don't know what it was that Dad didn't have
the curve ball at all, and I wasn't getting it
over and I just stayed with the fast ball and
tried to get in pretty.

Speaker 12 (23:18):
Good spots and I got the lead.

Speaker 3 (23:20):
I tried to keep him from pulling the.

Speaker 6 (23:21):
Ball if I could.

Speaker 1 (23:23):
There He is Sandy Kofax back in nineteen sixty five,
the call from Ray Scott and then the course the
great Vince Skull he catching up with Sandy Kofax after
Game seven of the nineteen sixty five World Series. Sandy's
two nothing shutout. The win gave the Dodgers their second
title in three seasons. The Hofey Magical Moment brought to

(23:46):
you by Hoffey hot Dogs, Hoffey so Cow's local treasure
for nearly one hundred years. Offfy hot Dogs, Local and
so great. When we continue here on Dodgers on Deck,

All right, Rick, the Dodgers are exhaling a little bit. Tanner.

Speaker 9 (24:45):
Scott's headed to the il, but it doesn't seem like
the injury is as bad as it looks.

Speaker 2 (24:49):
That is a moment to sigh a little bit of relief,
because that did not look good last night. And for
those that kind of missed it. After a pitch that
that's got made in that ninth thenning, all of a sudden,
Dave Roberts comes out. He notices something and then you know,
Yates was saying, look, he felt something. A steam, if

(25:11):
you will, was the description in his forearm. That is
never good for a picture. But obviously the MRI came
out from a positive standpoint. So he's going to be
missed for a period of time. And Dave Roberts saying
earlier today they're hoping they get him back in time.
How long it's going to take him to come back,
we don't really know. One thing that we do know.
There's no shortcuts in rehabbing and not risking an injury

(25:32):
to try and come back a little bit too soon.

Speaker 9 (25:34):
Rick, Let's go back to last night. That catch by
James Outman in the ninth inning. There's been some debate
even by James whether or not it was going to
go over the wall, but it looked like at the
very least it would hit the top.

Speaker 4 (25:46):
Of the wall.

Speaker 2 (25:47):
Yeah, even if it stays in the ballpark, you're talking
about extra bases, So the possibility of if it's over
the wall, obviously it's a tie game. If it's off
the wall, now you're looking at maybe a one run
game and the time run is going to be in
Ed Lee at second base. I thought that your description
really on postgame Dot do talk see I do listen
was very good because Dino Evil now the outfield coach

(26:10):
besides the third base coach. They went to prevent doubles.
And if you look at the coaching staff in the dugout,
when they move their hand over the top of their
head to the back, that means, look, we don't want
to ball hit over your head at that particular moment,
so you play a little bit deeper. It may be two,
it may be three steps, a little bit deeper than
you would normally be power hitter, maybe even more than that,

(26:30):
but it's the awareness of what is going on at
that particular moment and playing to the defense to try
and protect a lead.

Speaker 4 (26:39):
Rick.

Speaker 9 (26:40):
We always talk about confidence. Does making plays like James
Outman has made in the last five or six teams,
does it translate to the play?

Speaker 2 (26:48):
Yeah, it does. I think it does. It has a
chance to do it that way. The same could be said.
Let's talk about Freddie Freeman last night made some good
defensive plays also, which I know that you Steve and
I were talking on the pregame show. That tells me
that his ankle is getting better. We're talking about Freddie
Freeman because we're seeing more lateral movement, We're seeing him

(27:11):
run what appears to be without as much discomfort as
what we've seen recently.

Speaker 9 (27:17):
He has now taken batting practice and consecutive days on
the field.

Speaker 4 (27:21):
That's not something he does all the time.

Speaker 2 (27:23):
No, and somebody else is taking batting practice, Max Munsey.
And we saw full work out of third base also,
so he's coming back. He's not walking with a limp
of a bone Bruce. How long that's going to take
him to come back? Very positive signs. And what we're
seeing now with some guys that have been injured and
maybe getting more and more healthy because this is the
time of year you don't want any more injuries and

(27:44):
what the Dodgers have had to this point.

Speaker 9 (27:46):
Max was on the pregame show yesterday and he basically
said it's a pain tolerance issue. At this point in time,
he's going out on a rehab assignment when the Dodgers
leave for the road trip.

Speaker 4 (27:56):
Have you ever experienced a bone bruce knee ankle anyone?

Speaker 13 (28:00):
No?

Speaker 2 (28:00):
I think of a bone bruise that Hollinsworth had, Yeah,
Todd hollins Worth. Yeah, when he went to Denver and
played with the Rockies. He had a bone bruise on
the inside of his leg that became so bad. At
one particular time, they were talking about surgery and he
didn't know if he was going to be able to
hold onto his leg.

Speaker 12 (28:20):
Wow.

Speaker 6 (28:20):
That Ian.

Speaker 2 (28:21):
These are things that you kind of take it for
granted on what happens. But the explosion of a baseball
or a runner that is sliding into you, the damage
that can happen, and it only takes a snap of
a second it can turn into something very serious. So
it's wonderful to see maxicaming back working out and what
appears to be much much less pain.

Speaker 4 (28:42):
What'd you think about the booze last night for Carlos Korea?
Rick Oh?

Speaker 2 (28:46):
Did they serve him some booze? Yeah? I think it
was fitting and I think it was a fitting that Also,
it was his fly ball that was caught by Autman
as the curtain came down on the Minnesota Twins. Not
to be disrespectful the Twins, but they have a guy
on their field that everywhere he goes it brings back
a number of years ago with a team it took

(29:08):
a trash can around with them.

Speaker 9 (29:09):
It kind of feels like he's in that same category
as Jose Altuve and also Many Machado for different reasons.

Speaker 2 (29:17):
Yeah, but the way Al Tuovy has been swinging the
bad against the Dodgers, in particular that series they had here,
that ball would have probably been out of the ballpark.

Speaker 4 (29:24):
No doubt.

Speaker 2 (29:24):
Rick, what's so for Korea? Hang with them?

Speaker 4 (29:27):
Yeah, hang with him. He's trying to sweep me up.
By the way, the last couple of times we've seen
him a shop wor guy.

Speaker 2 (29:34):
He's a good guy. Just long memories here.

Speaker 4 (29:36):
That's right. It's part of the fandom, being a fan.
It's fun. We'll send it back to you in the studio.

Speaker 1 (29:41):
Tim, We'll never forget twenty seventeen and what those Ashtros did.
Never forget. All right, that's the Dodger game plan, brought
to you by your California community college. Is financial aid
is there to help you with the tuition, the books,
sometimes even the rent if you need. It's time to
take that next pick step. What are you waiting for?

Speaker 6 (29:58):
Ball?

Speaker 1 (29:58):
Classes will be here soon, Summer classes happening right now.
Classes to fill quickly, So enroll today and I can
go to college dot com. I'm still to come, we'll
get to the preview of this pitching matchup Rick and Nelly.
We'll be back with the keys to the game. But
Up can actually go high and tight with Tommy Edmund
Dodgers Twins. First pitch is seven ten. I'm Tim Kats's
the world champion of Los Angeles Dodgers Paudio.

Speaker 8 (30:19):
That one.

Speaker 5 (30:21):
As we were saying, this is Marongo Casino Dodgers one
on the official home of La Dodgers Baseball.

Speaker 1 (30:31):
Leading up to Dodgers and the Twins on this Tuesday night,
yoshinovu Ya, I'm a modo making his first start since
the All Star Break. First pitch coming up a seven
to ten Todgers Baseball's brought to you by Shaky's Pizza Parlor,
the official pizza partner of the Dodgers audio broadcast. When
it's game night, it's group night at Shaky's dot Com.

Speaker 5 (30:49):
And now what will likely be vast fielding insults from
a Dodger player, It's an engagement of endearment. This is
high and tight.

Speaker 4 (30:57):
All right.

Speaker 9 (30:58):
We're joined by one of my favorite guys, maybe one
of the most polite Major League players you will ever meet,
and that is Dodger everything, Tommy Edmund, Tommy, thanks a
lot for the time.

Speaker 2 (31:08):
Thank you.

Speaker 6 (31:08):
I appreciate it. Good chatting with you as always.

Speaker 9 (31:10):
Hey, see already you have such great manners, the way
you speak to me. I mean your light years way
more mature than I am.

Speaker 13 (31:18):
No, I don't know about that. I got I got
some immature sizes as well. But you know, just trying
to trying to be a good guy, and you know,
you know, you know you're I know you're doing your
job and trying to make things easy on you.

Speaker 4 (31:30):
Thank you. I appreciate it.

Speaker 12 (31:32):
Tommy.

Speaker 9 (31:32):
Hey, you made things easier on Tanner Scott last night
in the eighth inning. Your old teammate Harrison Baders sent
you a hot shot at the hot corner last night.
I mean, that is one of the biggest differences between
playing up the middle. I would imagine how quick the
ball gets on you.

Speaker 13 (31:48):
Yeah, it's it is a different perspective, for sure. I
had a few of those yesterday. There were a couple
in the early innings and then the one that bater
hitted me. So you know, you really got to stay
in your toes over there, just be expecting every ball
to come your way.

Speaker 6 (32:01):
Because you can't be surprised.

Speaker 13 (32:03):
So fortunately I was able to react well to that
one last night.

Speaker 9 (32:06):
You always hear about third baseman talk about having quick
light reflexes, But how much is it also the footwork
that you use at other positions?

Speaker 13 (32:15):
Yeah, for sure, you know, the prep step is still
kind of the same. I think at third base, I
might I try to get a little bit lower, just
in you know, expecting those balls that come at you
a little bit quicker. So I think from that standpoint,
it's a little bit different.

Speaker 6 (32:29):
But you know, you really catch the ball with your feet.

Speaker 13 (32:32):
You know, you got to make sure your feet are
in the right position to go get the ball, and
you're just gonna have a little bit less time to
set up and get in a position to throw than
you would at shorter second for example. But you know,
you're always just trying to use your feet as best
you can to to get in a good position.

Speaker 9 (32:47):
You're a ballplayer, so you're gonna do and play wherever
they ask you to. But how much more comfortable are you, say, today,
than you were even last week?

Speaker 13 (32:55):
Yeah, you know, gotten about a week, maybe a little
bit more than weeks worth of reps at third base,
so you know, kind of just seeing a lot more
different balls that have been hit to me. There was
there's a couple of balls that I've had that I
haven't been able to make the plays on that I've
kind of looked back at and be like, Okay, here's
here's what I need to do differently. So, you know,
having those under my belt, you know, I feel like

(33:17):
I have a better understanding of how to attack you know,
a few more different kinds of ground balls.

Speaker 9 (33:23):
You understand the seasons of marathon, you're gonna have highs,
you're gonna have lows. As a team, how do you
guys find your way out of the lows that you've
had recently?

Speaker 13 (33:33):
Yeah, I mean kind of like what you're saying, you know,
just understanding it's a really long season and it's inevitable
that you're going to go through some lulls, some some
stretches where you're not playing quite as well. But you know,
we got so much talent on our team that we
know it's only a matter of time before we get
back to the dominant ways that we're used to. So,
you know, just kind of continue with our prep routine,

(33:53):
but identifying the areas that maybe we've been struggling at
and just attacking those and as long as we do
that in our and our prep work, knowing that it'll
pay off and that we'll get back to our winning ways.

Speaker 9 (34:05):
Tommy, some of the outside voices have suggested these group
of players are a little bored with the regular season.

Speaker 4 (34:12):
What do you say and how do you.

Speaker 9 (34:13):
Respond to people that perceive that you guys are bored
with the regular season.

Speaker 13 (34:18):
No, I don't think you can ever get bored with
playing major League baseball games. You know, every game has
a ton of challenges, and you know you got to
get ready each and every day. You know you're playing
against major League Baseball teams, and every team you play
against has some really good talent, especially you know, the
pitching side. Now, every single guy you face, every guy
that gets called up for the miners, has nasty stuff.

(34:38):
So you gotta be prepared regardless of who you're facing.

Speaker 9 (34:42):
Is that the biggest change in the game, just even
since you broke in, just how many nasty pitchers there
are once you get the starter out of the game.
What is the evolution of the game since you first started?

Speaker 13 (34:54):
Yeah, I mean the fastball vialough has definitely gone up
even in the since twenty nineteen when I first got
called up. So I think I think you just generally
have more guys that throw harder and uh, just better
stuff in general. I think maybe even like what was
that six years ago, you had guys who would kind
of hang around the league who didn't have that great stuff,

(35:16):
but you know, they were kind of just proven veterans.
So you know, those guys are kind of not really
in the game quite as much anymore, you know, and
and they, you know, are more often get replaced by
younger guys who have nasty stuff, So you're kind of
seeing those those.

Speaker 6 (35:33):
Kinds of arms a little bit earlier.

Speaker 4 (35:34):
How do you prepare for that?

Speaker 13 (35:37):
You know, just make sure watching a lot of video
and and uh knowing how pictures like to attack certain hitters,
and you know, just being aware of guys tendencies and
what their pitch movement is, and yeah, just you know,
we talk about it in our hitters meetings. We just
we make sure we go over every pitcher and and
have a good understanding of how they're going to attack
us and what what that's gonna look like.

Speaker 9 (35:56):
Tommy Edmond is our guest. Before I let you go,
I love picking your brain about the game as.

Speaker 4 (36:01):
A hitter, is it.

Speaker 9 (36:03):
Are you a believer that maybe sometimes the best pitch
you see could be the first pitch of an app bat.

Speaker 13 (36:09):
Yeah, you know, you gotta be ready from the first pitch,
and it's definitely a kind of a tough thing to do,
especially if you're seeing a pitcher that you've never never
actually gotten in the box against. So you know, we
try to do a good job of making sure we're
ready from from the first pitch of the at bat, because, yeah,
like you're saying that, you can't just let strike one
go right down the middle and let them get an

(36:30):
advantage into count. You know, there are times to take
pitches as well, but you know, for the most part,
you gotta be ready.

Speaker 4 (36:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (36:37):
So if the pitcher just walked a guy on four
pitches or five pitches ahead of you, you have to
kind of read and react to see what is happening
in the game, I would imagine.

Speaker 6 (36:46):
Yeah, for sure, it's all situational.

Speaker 13 (36:48):
You know, you can't just say black and white, Okay,
I'm taking this pitch, or I'm definitely swinging at this pitch.

Speaker 6 (36:53):
You kind of just have to read and a jest
based on the situation.

Speaker 9 (36:56):
Damn next level thinking right there by Tommy Edman Stanford Man.
Thank you for the time, Tommy, I really appreciate it.

Speaker 6 (37:03):
Thank you. It's been fun.

Speaker 9 (37:04):
Hey, Tommy Edmond's gonna enjoy some chicken Fahidas at Hobvi
Aer's new location in downtown. You might see him in
Lo Joya and coming soon Pasadena, just in time for
the postseason.

Speaker 6 (37:15):
That's right, can't wait to try out the new spot.

Speaker 4 (37:17):
There he is the man, Tommy Edmund. Thank you, Tommy.

Speaker 6 (37:20):
Yeah, I appreciate you.

Speaker 4 (37:21):
There he goes. Tommy Edmond has been our guest. We'll
send it back to you in the studio.

Speaker 1 (37:24):
Tim, all right, thanks a lot. DV lean you out
to first Pitch Dodgers and the Twins, and when we
come back, we'll dive deeper into this pitching matchup. Don't
go anywhere. I'm Tim Kates is the world champion Los
Angeles Dodgers.

Speaker 6 (37:35):
Oh you know.

Speaker 5 (37:38):
This is Wrongo Casino Dodgers huntings on your home for
La Dodgers Baseball.

Speaker 1 (37:46):
It's the Dodgers and the Minnesota Twins on this Tuesday night,
First pitch coming up, seven tens and.

Speaker 5 (37:52):
Now before the Dodgers hit the dining we look at
the pitching matchup.

Speaker 1 (37:57):
Present about your Southern California Toyota dealers. Work hard, in
play hard, and a new Tacoma with an I fours
turbo chargs engine. It's a truck built for the bowls.
See your Toyota dealer today. They make it easy. Simeon
Woods Richardson on the mount for the Twins. Twenty four
year old right hander five and four three ninety five
ERA made his major league debut in twenty twenty two
one start in twenty twenty three, broke through last year

(38:18):
with twenty eight starts with Minnesota this year, making his
fifteen start. Woods Richardson uses a five pitch mix, mostly
a four seam fastball followed by his slider. Last time out,
four and two third innings, one run, six hits, three
strikeouts at a no decision against the Pirates. This is
his first time facing the Dodgers. Yoshinobu Yamamoto goes for
the Blue. Twenty six year old right hander making his
twenty His start last time out really good, seven shutout innings,

(38:41):
three hit, seven strikeouts, so no decision though against the
Giants as they lost to leading the ninth but one
in an extra innings. Right before the All Star Break,
he got to go to Atlanta enjoy the All Star festivities.
So Yoshinobu Yamamoto making his first start since the All
Star Break. First pitch coming up in fifteen minutes. The
keys to the game are next. I'm Tim kats Is,

(39:01):
the world champion. Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.

Speaker 5 (39:06):
As we were saying yes, is Marongo Casino Dodgers on
tack On, the official home of La Dodgers Baseball.

Speaker 1 (39:15):
It's the Dodgers and the Twins. Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Simeon Woods
Richardson the pitching matchup Game two. This three game set
with the Boys in Blue play at home. It's important
they have the right game plan to protect Dodger Stadium,
which is their house. You need one for your home.
To create a wildfire action plan, select a predetermined meeting
point outside your home and create a family communication plan.

(39:56):
the booth, Steven Nelson, Rick Monday, guys.

Speaker 3 (39:59):
Thank you Tim Beck here with Rick Monday. Okay moll
for Game two for the Dodgers against the Twins. Give
me a couple of keys that come to your mind.

Speaker 2 (40:06):
Two things for Yamamoto, who's been very, very good, especially
at home and then Roade. Actually the road era is
lower than the home era. But the low fastball. The
reason I say that he has a very low batting
average against in the low fastball. Checked out some of
the of the hitters for the Twins, in particular Cardinals Corea.
He does not hit that low fast bolt exceptionally well.

(40:28):
And then we talk about the non fastballs. Really for
both of these pitchers. For Yamamoto non fastballs, one sixty
nine average against that's tied for fifth best in Major
League Baseball by starting pitcher. And then if we look
at Richeson on the flip side, he's a guy that
throws very well the last six starts. His ERA is

(40:49):
just under one point five. But if we look at
what he does with the auspeed pitches, he throws about
forty four percent breaking pitches so far to this point
in the in the season. So get ready for some
fans balls and also off speed both sides of the ledger.

Speaker 3 (41:05):
Also keep an eye on shohe Otani. He has homered
in three straight games. He has had eleven three game
home run streaks in his career. He has never homered
in four straight. Will that be something that we see
here tonight. We'll keep an eye on it. As first
pitch is just moments away. TC back to you, all right.

Speaker 1 (41:23):
First pitch is next. Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound, Dodgers
and Twins. This has been Morongo Casino Dodgers on deck.
I'm the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers. Oh you know,
