(01:04):
win over the Twins.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
The Dodgers now hit.
Speaker 8 (01:06):

Coast road trip. First up, a three game series against

we have a lot to get to here. On Wronggo
Casino Dodgers on deck, You're gonna hear from David Vase,
(01:28):
who goes one on one with Ken Rosenthal from the
Athletic in Fox Sports. As we are less than a
week away from the MLB trade deadline, we'll hear from
the manager, Dave Roberts. We'll dive deeper to this pitching matchup.
Kirsten Watson from Sports at LA will join us. We've
got your Dodgers magical moment. In just a few minutes,
we'll head out to the Gallpin Motors broadcast booth.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
With Tim Neffett and Rick Monday.
Speaker 9 (01:50):
Well.
Speaker 8 (01:50):
Dodgers last played on Wednesday at Dodgers Stadium in the
series finale against the Minnesota Twins. It was a great
outing from Tyler Glass Now seven innings, twelve strikeouts. He
threw a career high one hundred and six pitches. He
gave Dave robertson the Dodgers everything he had. He allowed
just one run on three hits. He got an early
(02:12):
lead thanks to show hey Otani's home run, its fifth
straight game with a home run, number thirty seven on
the season, as the Dodgers led one to nothing, But
the one run Tyler Glass Now gave up came in
the third Royce Lewis Chase Ra High School, a solo
home run, is fifth of the season that tied the
game at one. It was cruise control the rest of
(02:33):
the way for Tyler Glass Now. He would have a
pair of strikeouts in the fourth, a pair of strikeouts
in the fifth, struck out the side in the sixth,
two more strikeouts in the seventh. In the bottom of
the seventh, game tied at one when Tommy Edmund untied
it a ball in.
Speaker 10 (02:48):
Two strikes on Edmund Marland delivers. Edmund swings basehead right field.
Freeman scores. Tommy Edman breaks the tie.
Speaker 4 (02:59):
It's two to one.
Speaker 11 (03:00):
The Dodgers go station to station. The bases are.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
Still loaded, and it looked like Edmund did shorten up
on the swing a little bit, and he did it
with two strikes, and that was a breaking ball and
a hangar.
Speaker 8 (03:14):
Tommy Edmund got it and gave the Dodgers a two
to one lead RBI number forty one for Edmund. It
was then up to the bullpen to get the final
six outs of the game. Kirby Yateso walked the first
three batters that he faced. In the top half of
the eighth inning, Alex Vessi had to come in. A
(03:34):
six to four to three double play tied the game
at two runs scored, and then an infield single brought
in Harrison Vader.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
The Twins took a three to two lead. Are you
kidding me? Well?
Speaker 8 (03:46):
Tyler Glasnow's performance wiped away as the bullpen gave it
up in the eighth. They would remain a three to
two Twins lead until the bottom half of the ninth inning,
when the Dodgers, with two outs, got a little mad going.
In fact, they loaded the bases with two outs two
strikes for Freddy Freeman.
Speaker 10 (04:05):
Remember Freddy has been looking for his swing for the
last two months. He looked at video from the World Series,
which he kicked off with a basis loaded opportunity and
a grand slam in the tenth up with the bases
loaded here today in the ninth behind Jack's one and two,
the rider deals Freddy left field.
Speaker 5 (04:27):
It is not.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
Taught by Bader.
Speaker 11 (04:31):
Bet scores Old Toddy behind him and the Dodgers walk
it off.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
Head first.
Speaker 11 (04:40):
Diving catch attempt by Harrison Bader and left. He could
not come up with it and the Dodgers come up
with a wind.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
Freddy Freeman does that.
Speaker 8 (04:49):
He delivers with the two run walk off signal to
the left, just underneath the glove of Harrison Bainer as
the Dodgers walk off the Twins four to three.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
Anthony Bot gets the win.
Speaker 8 (05:01):
Dodgers sixty and forty three, a much needed win as
they take two to three from the Twins. They go
two and four on the home stand, but they're leading
the division now five over San Diego, six games on
San Francisco. As they hit the road for the first
of three in Boston, Embitt Sheen gets the ball in
the series opener from the Fenway Parking With more, we
(05:22):
head out to the Galpin Motors broadcast booth as we
say good afternoon.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
To Tim Nevertt and Rick Monday.
Speaker 9 (05:28):
Guys, Tim, thank you very much. It's here at Fenway
Park in Boston. An on time start expected. There have
been some pop up showers in and around the area
this afternoon into the evening. But we should have baseball,
no problem there is. The Dodgers gets set to take
on the Red Sox in the first of a three
game series. The Dodgers sixty and forty three, Boston fifty
(05:48):
five and forty nine. They find themselves six and a
half games out in the American League East, while the
Dodgers are five games up in the West. Emmittt Sheen
from Darien, Connecticut and Boston College, will make start for
the Dodgers tonight, his first professional start here in this ballpark,
one on one in a four to four to one
era Brian Bao out of the Dominican Republic. The right
(06:09):
hander is six and four in a three two three
earn run average. Dodgers coming off a walk off win
Wednesday afternoon at Dodgers Stadium Freddie Freeman with his sixteenth
career walk off hit yesterday. A day off for everybody,
a chance to relax and get ready to play nine
straight games in the Eastern time zone. So at it
here tonight in Boston, And they're here in Boston without
(06:32):
one guy that a lot of people came to see,
Mookie Betts. He is not in the lineup tonight. Not
here tonight due to a personal matter, and we're told
that he is expected here by.
Speaker 3 (06:42):
Game time tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
Yeah, he'll be here, and maybe not in time to
be in the lineup, but he will be returning just
a day or so. Meanwhile, for this Dodger bucklub trying
to win their sixty first game of the season, and
they finished up the homestand in fine fashion, that being
with the walkoff base hit by Freddy Freeman in the
bottom of the ninth inning to come from behind. Another
Comfrey hind win for the Stodger ball club. But they
(07:05):
need to get it into a gear a little bit
better ten not only from an offensive standpoint, but also
from pitching, in particular out of the bullpen. The last
six games, the bullpen has issued twenty walks. That has
to stop in a hurry because it's putting a big,
big burden on the rest of the pen with all
the different changes you have to make during a game.
Speaker 9 (07:24):
And offensively without bets here, Otani moves back to the
leadoff spot and Will Smith batting in the second spot
and Freddy Freeman just to get the left right left
combination going. Freeman hitting third in this lineup tonight.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
Yeah, Dan Edmund will be at third base, Rojas is
short Hassan Kim is going to be a second base position.
I think it's interesting also to look at this lineup,
you know, you start to look at the Big three,
actually now the big four, because the guy that is
really having himself with terrific seasons, and Andy Pye has
comes on. He's hitting two eighty four nineteen home runs
now sixty three runs batted in. He'll be in the five,
(08:00):
following to Oscar Hernanas, who will be in that clean
up position. So if you look Otani, Will Smith, Freeman
to Oscar Hernanas and Andy Bias, that's a five sime
that really should do some damage with some pitching.
Speaker 9 (08:13):
And when you look at the bottom of the order too,
the Dodgers will be looking for something out of there.
You've got Rojas at shortstop, he's batting ninth, with hess
On Kim in the eighth spot, and between Kim and
Edmund hitting seventh, Edmund the switch hitter. Get some guys
on base, you can get some running around.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
Go.
Speaker 3 (08:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
The other part two is is that I haven't talked
about it a whole lot, but the Dodgers have not
been playing what you would call stellar defense on top
of it, and that's going to change. I believe it
is going to change. And no better ballpark to do
it than right here. The other part too, you're an
outfield in this ballpark. The Dodgers did not have a
complete batting practice session because of some rain that came
while they were hitting. My point being ball hit off
(08:50):
that left field wall, that monster. The center fielder has
to come over, and balls hit down the right field
line you have to protect deep because of the angle
of that wall. You want to prevent triple and maybe
an inside the park home run.
Speaker 9 (09:02):
We'll talk about how you had to play these dimensions
at this ballpark, which are quite unique. As we get
into the ballgame here tonight. Meantime, we're getting you ready
for the first pitch at Fenway Park, sellout crowd expected
as the Dodgers take on the Red Sox in game
one of a three game weekend set.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
Tim All right, thank you.
Speaker 8 (09:18):
Guys, as we count you dad to first pitch. Dodger fans, Hey,
got some ideas for dinner? How about Shaky's Pizza Parlor. Yeah,
your game day meal from Shaky's you can order it

from the manager Dave Roberts. We'll hear from Kenny Rosenthal
from Fox Sports Baseball Insider.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
He'll go one on one with David Vesse. DV checks

the Dodgers meeting up against one of their former teammates.
He'll pitch on Sunday, Bud Walker Buellers in Boston playing
(12:21):
for the Red Sox this year.
Speaker 13 (12:24):
Tim, I have to tell you seeing him because today
they're wearing their City Connect uniforms, so they're in the
green in general, whether he's in red, whether it was
in green. It did feel a little bit strange at first,
but you know what, Walker, just to see him was exciting.
He this year hasn't had the best of season thus far,
but is trying to actually had a really strong outing
in his last one against the Philly so it's looking
to kind of get back on track, but for today,
(12:46):
he was just excited.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
To see his former teammates.
Speaker 13 (12:48):
Obviously, it's been a while since the World Series celebrations,
the parade, we saw how much fun they had, and
today he actually got to finally see his ring in person.
Of course he's seen the photos of everyone else is online,
but just to be able to have that moment, he said,
it was so special. It is going to be a
little bit strange when he's facing the Dodgers on Sunday,
but he did say he's felt like he's had at
(13:10):
least some experience with this, whether it's been facing Jock Peterson,
Cody Bellinger, guys like that. But ultimately he was like,
it's gonna feel different. He did wish that it was
going to be a Kershaw up against him matchup, but
unfortunately it just doesn't line up that way with Kershaw
excuse me pitching tomorrow, but we all it's safe to
(13:32):
say that even with Dave Roberts, was like, if it
could have worked out that way, it definitely would have
been fun.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
But you know what it is what it is, and hey.
Speaker 13 (13:40):
He doesn't want to see Walker Deeler pitch, well, that's
for sure, not on Sunday against the Dodgers every other day.
Speaker 1 (13:45):
Yes, we're all rooting for him.
Speaker 8 (13:47):
Dodgers lineup looks a little different because no Mookie bets
with the team tonight.
Speaker 13 (13:52):
Yeah, and so Mookie's actually back home in Nashville with
his family due to a personal reason, so he's not
with the team. He didn't actually travel with the team
too Boston. Dave Roberts does feel hopeful that he could
be returning to the team tomorrow, but due to travel,
he might not make it here just right when the
game starts, so likely be arriving then. So he's probably
not going to be in the lineup tomorrow either, but
(14:14):
he would be available off the bench if that is
the case. If not, we should be seeing him there
on Sunday. But just our thoughts and prayers are obviously
with Mookie right now and say continue as they just
deal with the family matter at the moment.
Speaker 1 (14:26):
On the Mounta tonight for the Dodgers.
Speaker 8 (14:28):
Emmitt Shehan and Emmitt Shean got a lot of friends
and family in the stands tonight.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
He does so.
Speaker 13 (14:35):
He is from New York, but he went to college
here in Boston. He went to Boston College and has
of course come to Fenway growing up, things like that.
Speaker 1 (14:43):
So this is going to be his first time pitching here, and.
Speaker 13 (14:45):
You know he's looking to get back on track from
his last having Dave Roberts said, he just felt like
the slider wasn't there in that last one, so he
of course wants to have a good one.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
Will that come with a little bit of.
Speaker 13 (14:54):
Nerves, he said, maybe, you know, it's always exciting when
this matchup. Of course, just the history amongst these two teams,
and so you might have a little bit of excitement,
but it's actually how he kind of handles his emotions.
It's going to be more of wanting to just perform
well and get back on track. But he is going
to have a huge support system here, his mom, his family,
his friends, probably some college teammates. So I think he
(15:16):
told us the other day that he's got like twenty
plus people that are going.
Speaker 5 (15:20):
To be in attendance.
Speaker 1 (15:21):
So he is definitely excited.
Speaker 13 (15:23):
This will be a special moment for him, but it'll
be even more exciting if he can get himself and
the team in the win column.
Speaker 1 (15:29):
No doubt about that.
Speaker 8 (15:30):
Keep that momentum from Wednesday gone. Kirsten we appreciate it.
What check in with you after the game. Still they
come here on Morongo because you know Dodgers on deck.

Boston and checking with the Dodgers skipper.
Speaker 4 (16:44):
Anything else. Questions for Dave Dave? Can you just describe Dave?
Speaker 7 (16:49):
Can you talk about the pressure in the dugouts with
Dave Roberts.
Speaker 14 (16:55):
Yeah, I think that he'll be back tomorrow right around
game time, so we'll kind of see, you know, he's
trying to trying to make sure he gets back as
soon as he can, so not sure if he's gonna
be in the lineup, but he'll be in town at
some point tomorrow.
Speaker 13 (17:14):
When you look at the top of the order and
just what does that kind of mean for how you
want to see these guys, We've seen them without Max Munsey,
but now they're without Mookie tonight and potentially.
Speaker 4 (17:22):
For to start tomorrow.
Speaker 14 (17:24):
You know, I just think it's there's some things like
we've seen recently, some good at bats. I think sliding
show hey back, you know, for a couple of days
here at the top, I think is fine. It's seamless.
I think, you know, Freddie, I think the other day
I think was a positive, so hopefully we can build
on that. And Bello. Bello's got a good arm, you know,
he's one of their guys. So just got to keep
(17:46):
taking good at bets. And some of these guys haven't
played here, so's it'll be fun and hopefully we can
use that wall.
Speaker 8 (17:52):
All right, there's a manager, Dave Robbers, talking about Mookie Bets,
not with the team, but returning tomorrow to Boston.
Speaker 1 (17:58):
When we continue here on.
Speaker 8 (18:00):

With the Dodgers being in Boston, Walker Bueller being a
Red Sox. I know it's a special day for both
teams and both sides getting to see Walker.
Speaker 19 (21:57):
Yeah, it was really fun to see Walker. Buehler reunited
with his teammates from last year's World Series. Obviously Walker
getting the final out of the World Series, pitching in
relief and the pos He had it all, he had
it all choreographed and it's going to live on forever
in Dodger history. I had a chance to be part
(22:20):
of Walker Buehler's media session in the Red Sox Dugout,
and he talked about just how many times has he
watched that final out, that final ninth inning from last
year's Fall Classic.
Speaker 3 (22:32):
Yeah, I watched.
Speaker 20 (22:33):
I've watched it a couple of times. I don't think
I really got super obsessed with it. You know, I've
watched some games a lot of times. But yeah, that
was that was a pretty cool on just for me personally, honestly,
because Spores did it the year before, and he and
I were the same draft and are really close and
he was in my wedding, and so for us to
do that back to back years, I think it's probably
the coolest part about it for me.
Speaker 19 (22:54):
Yeah, Walker Buehler was talking about Rangers reliever Josh Spores,
who used to be with the Dodge, and obviously the
Rangers winning the World Series in twenty twenty three. Walker
Bueller tim did receive his World Series ring and all
the players came out took a photo. It was a
really cool moment. And I'll let you in on this.
Walker Buehler one year contract with the Red Sox kind
(23:17):
of hinted that he's leaving the door open if the
Dodgers called, he would listen. If they wanted to resign
him after this season, that.
Speaker 1 (23:24):
Would be nice.
Speaker 8 (23:24):
Davis brought to you by the twenty twenty five Ford
f one to fifty from California's best selling truck brand.
It's time to see Ford in a new light. Ford
for America from America the trade deadline, David, Next Thursday,
three o'clock. What are you hearing some teams have already
made some moves, and certainly those are just the first
of maybe many.
Speaker 9 (23:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 19 (23:44):
Ken Rosenthal is gonna join us a little bit later
in the show. He has all the details. But it
feels like the most realistic for the cost price point
would be Ryan Hellsley of the Cardinals. There's been talks
about the Dodgers and Cardinals discussing a trade for Helsley
even during the off season, so you would imagine they
(24:05):
would have the framework or an idea of what it
would take to acquire a Ryan Helsley, who has not
pitched that great this year with the Cardinals. He is
a rental, so that obviously affects how much the Cardinals
may get in return for him. It seems like the
feeling I'm getting around the team is that more and
more the Dodgers may be in the market for a
(24:28):
right handed outfield bat. We don't know when Keik Hernandez
is coming back. Obviously, Michael Conforto has not produced the
way the Dodgers thought he would, so it feels like
an outfield bat from the right side is something the
Dodgers are also looking at acquiring before July thirty.
Speaker 8 (24:46):
First, Dave Real Quick Alex Vessi has been pretty good
in his last couple outings.
Speaker 1 (24:50):
Could he be the new closer for the Dodgers.
Speaker 19 (24:53):
He told me that they have not told him that
he is the closer. It is still as they call
it in the bull and lanes of hitters. Just be
ready for the hitters that he is matched up to face,
whether it's the eighth inning, ninth inning, if there's a
hot spot. As he told me, he's ready to come
in to play. But certainly he said that's uh that's
(25:15):
not been communicated to him, and Dave Roberts has said
since the entry to Tanner Scott that they are going
to mix and match. Interesting that Dave said in his
pregame session as well that Blake trin And could return
to the Dodgers on this road trip.
Speaker 3 (25:31):
That would be a huge boost to the bullpen.
Speaker 8 (25:33):
Well doubt about him. Make sure you always stay in
your lane, all right?
Speaker 1 (25:36):
Coming up here, I'm Wrongo Casino Dodgers on deck.
Speaker 8 (25:39):
Who we all hear from Kenny rosensaal will dive deeper
and it is pitching matchup. But up next You're Dodgers
Magical Moment. Don't go anywhere, Dodgers Red Sox on this Friday.
I'm Tim Kass, the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 7 (25:55):
This is Wrongo Casino Dodgers hunting on your home for.
Speaker 4 (26:00):
La Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 8 (26:03):
Dodgers and Red Sox from Boston. First game of this
three game set from Fenway Park, and it's sheen on
the mound for the Blue.
Speaker 1 (26:11):
First bitch coming up at four ten.
Speaker 7 (26:17):
Without a hot dog who went the hot It's time
for the Hawfy Magical.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
Moment, Ditch Magical presented.
Speaker 4 (26:25):
By Happy hot Dogs.
Speaker 12 (26:26):
Oh.
Speaker 8 (26:27):
The Dodgers taking on the Red Sox will go back
to the twenty eighteen World Series Dodgers taking on the
Boston Red Sox, Game three of the series at Dodgers Stadium.
It was a Friday night, a warm night in southern California,
as the Dodgers and Red Sox would go to extra
Indians Yes tied at one at the top of the thirteenth,
(26:49):
the Red Sox scored a one run in the bottom
of the thirteenth. The Dodgers answered back to tie it
up at two. They went to the fourteenth, the fifteenth,
the sixteenth, the seventeenth.
Speaker 1 (27:00):
And then in the eighteenth inning.
Speaker 8 (27:02):
Seven hours and twenty minutes after the game first started,
Max Munsey called game.
Speaker 6 (27:08):
Valdi on three and two, five ball left center field.
Speaker 3 (27:14):
Well hit back at the wall, and the longest.
Speaker 6 (27:17):
World Series game in history has come to an end.
A mighty blast by Max Monthsey. The Dodgers are back
from the dead. They win it three to two. They
moved back to within two games to one in the
twenty eighteen World Series, an historic game at Dodgers Stadium,
(27:40):
and Monthly is being pummeled at the plate.
Speaker 8 (27:45):
Max Monsey ends the longest game in World Series history
with a walkoff home run to left center field in
the bottom half of the eighteenth in Game three of
the twenty eighteen World Series. Unfortunately, the Red Sox would
go on and within the next two games and win
the twenty eighteen World Series. This Hofey Magical moment brought
to you by Hofey hot Dogs, Hoffee so Cow's local

Speaker 1 (28:08):

back game with Rick Monday for leading you up to
Dodgers and Red Sox on this Friday. I'm Tim Katsis
is the world champion in Los Angeles.
Speaker 1 (28:18):
Dodgers Audio detwink.
Speaker 7 (28:24):
This is Marongo Casino, Dodgers on Deck on your home
for the Blue all season long.
Speaker 8 (28:33):
Dodgers hit the road in Boston to take on the
Red Sox this weekend.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
Image she and on the mountain.
Speaker 8 (28:38):
First pitch coming up at four ten time down for
the Verizon startup. We're a little over thirty minutes away
from the start of the game in Boston. Now at
Verizon you can lock in your low price for three years,
so you can save big visit the Verizon Store. Today
is the Dodgers at Fenway Park taking on the Red
Sox first pitch.
Speaker 7 (28:56):
And for ten and now joined by Day the Bass
saying here's La Dodgers broadcast there and World Series champion
Dodger Rick Monday.
Speaker 19 (29:07):
Hey, it's great to be at Fenway Park again with
Rick Monday. I know you didn't play for the Red Sox,
but you played here a few times.
Speaker 2 (29:14):
In fact, hit my first major league home runn in
this ballpark top of the fifteenth inning. Then with the
Kansas City as straight away center field see to the
right of the three seventy nine mark, when you've got
a little pie shaped area. Well it was in that
pie shaped area we wound up losing by the way
in the bottom of the fifteenth, so it did didn't
really matter.
Speaker 3 (29:31):
Have you ever been inside the Green Monster, Rick, years
and years ago.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
Yes, it's you don't want to be there if you
have claustrophobia, that's for certain.
Speaker 5 (29:41):
Yeah, and it's a little tinmey.
Speaker 2 (29:42):
Hey, by the way, you didn't want to be there
earlier today at eleven o'clock this morning. It was what
it was at ninety two and then he didn't. Next
was one hundred and one. That was at eleven o'clock
this morning, and then we had about what two o'clock
just for rochious rainstorm to move through, So it did
cool off a little bit. It'll be cooler tomorrow and
again on Sunday. But the Dodgers have to figure out
(30:04):
David on how to get hot because they have not
really been playing great baseball. They had to comfort behind
the walk off victory in the final game of that
homestand but you know, they need to get it into
gear and they're playing against teams quite frankly that you know,
they're in survival mode because the Red Sox six and
a half out, but they're looking at, you know, the
(30:25):
wild card. They're in there right now, but they have
some people really nipping at their heels. They're trying to
get that third wildcard spot the American League.
Speaker 19 (30:31):
Yeah, the Dodgers are facing the Red Sox best starting
pitcher this side of Garrett Crochet and Bellow today and
Emma Shean's a New England type of guy from Connecticut
Rick so I'm sure.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
He's bought in college. Yeah, so he's excited to be here.
Speaker 2 (30:44):
Well it should be. This is this is a good
ballpark for I think just atmosphere. Why, well, the stands
are really on top of the on top of the
field to begin with. And yeah, there's a strike going
on with some of the concession workers here in town.
There's a protest going on outside. It's not going to
diminish the ballpark at all in this game. And it's
(31:07):
just kind of fun to come into the stadium and
see how you work out how different things go. And
I believe that there's two stadiums that maybe are responsible
for maybe a hitter going into a slump because of
changing the swing. I talk about Wrigleyfield when the wind
is blowing out, hitters will alter their swing. Here at
Fenway Park, I think also some hitters alter their swing
(31:29):
because they look down only three hundred and ten feet
down the line. Yes, it's the green monster that goes
up very very high the fence. But people are tempted
to try and change the swing and lift the ball.
And this is a precursor possibly to slumps of the
teams that are leaving.
Speaker 19 (31:45):
Hey Rick, speaking of that, it feels like Freddie Freeman's
swing is in the right spot.
Speaker 3 (31:52):
To play Pepper with that Waltz in this series.
Speaker 2 (31:55):
I agree because he's a guy that goes inside out
to begin with. Even though the base hit that he
got in the base hit that he got to the
walk off, yeah, just the other day on Wednesday, was
also the line drive to left field, So yes, I
think it plays into But for Freeman, he doesn't try
and lift the ball the other way. He tries to
drive it the other way, and hang time is not
(32:16):
really a good thing unless you have a lot of
distance behind it as well.
Speaker 19 (32:20):
Mookie Bett's not in the lineup today because of personal reasons.
He may rejoin the team by the end of this series.
But Miguel Rojas has really emerged, even at this stage
of his career as very valuable for the Dodgers.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
He has been you know the other part too. And
looked up some numbers earlier this morning. Michel Rojas, when
he offers it a pitch from an office standpoint, his
swing and miss percentage is like only eight percent, and
that's on the high end of it. He's the guy
that that makes contact. Why do I bring that up?
Because Rojas is going to batten the number nine spot
(32:53):
if there's a chance with Oughtani on Bezers, someone else
has sawn Kim is planning batting in front of Rojas,
so you have speed including Edmund For Dave Robertson might
want to push the gadget a little bit more and
have some runners moving in front of Rojas because he
does make a high percentage of contact.
Speaker 3 (33:10):
I love that.
Speaker 19 (33:10):
Put the runners in motion, make something happen. Thanks Rick,
we'll send it back to you in the studio.
Speaker 8 (33:15):
Tim all right, thank you, DV, thank you Mo. That's
the Dodgers game plan. Dodger fans, you need a game
plan too. Start your future to California Community College. Financial
aids available to help you in tuition, books, sometimes even
the rent. It's time to take that next big step.
What are you waiting for? Classes can fill up quickly,
so roll today and I can go to college dot com.
Speaker 1 (33:33):
Still to come.
Speaker 8 (33:33):
Here on Dodgers on Deck, we'll dive deeper into this
pitchy match with image shean on the mound. Tim and
Rick will have the keys to the game. But up
next we go high and tight with one of the
best information man nationally. He does it for Fox and
the athletic Ken Rosenthal joins David Vasa.
Speaker 1 (33:50):
Next, so he leads up to Dodgers in Red Sox.
Speaker 8 (33:52):
I'm Tim Kates is the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers
Audio Network.
Speaker 7 (33:58):
As we were saying, this is Marongo Casino. Dodgers on
tack on, the official home of LA Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 8 (34:09):
Lead you up to Dodgers and Red Sox on this
Friday afternoon, and and sheen on the mound, return home
for him from the Northeast.
Speaker 1 (34:16):
Pitch to Boston College. First pitch of four to.
Speaker 8 (34:18):
Ten to Dodgers Baseball, brought to you by Shaky's Pizza Parlor,
the official pizza partner of the Dodgers Audio broadcast. When
it's game night, it's group night at Shakey's dot Com.
Speaker 7 (34:29):
And now what will likely be Vassa fielding insults from
a Dodger player.
Speaker 1 (34:33):
It's an engagement of endearment.
Speaker 4 (34:35):
This is high and tight.
Speaker 19 (34:37):
We're in steamy Boston at Fenway Park, and we're joined
right now by the man that is more plugged in
than any national writer out there. You read him in
the Athletic, you see him online all over the place.
Foul territory, fair territory, wherever the territory is you'll find
Ken Rosenthal.
Speaker 3 (34:55):
Ken, thanks a lot for the.
Speaker 5 (34:56):
Time, David. That is way too kind. But you're right
about the territories.
Speaker 21 (35:00):
I'm on a lot of territories, including Fox, including Fox. Yes,
and in his theme, I know it's tough for you
guys in LA to deal with this kind of East
Coast humidity, but suck it up for the weekend.
Speaker 19 (35:09):
Wow, Ken already coming after me as a soft West
Coast guy.
Speaker 21 (35:14):
Well, I mean, hey, you talked about the humidity coming
right out of the shoot.
Speaker 4 (35:18):
Here.
Speaker 19 (35:18):
Hey, Ken, you're pacing around Fenway Park here, it feels
like a lot is brewing.
Speaker 3 (35:23):
How are you handling as we get closer to the
trade deadline? Not well.
Speaker 21 (35:28):
This time of year, it's just NonStop, and it is fun.
It's fun to see all the moves that we discussed
from months and months finally come to fruition or most
likely not come to fruition. Most of the time, whatever
happens is a surprise, even though we speculate out the
Yin Yang, for instance, the Yankees oh O Hengo swars
(35:48):
or the Yankees, Hey they're gonna get a Well, they didn't.
Speaker 5 (35:50):
Get Aheno swars.
Speaker 21 (35:51):
They got Ryan McMahon, and it's kind of that way
the whole time. But just to see the mich machinations
of teams and how they go about but that it
really is interesting to me, just on a bigger level,
not just who's getting who right now, but the larger
three hundred and sixty degree, thirty thousand foot view of this.
Speaker 5 (36:11):
It's always fascinating, all right.
Speaker 19 (36:12):
In that vein the Dodgers, Andrew Friedman's on the record
is saying that he's looking for a right handed reliever.
Some believe they may need an outfield bad or right
handed bat. Do you believe they'll be able to pull
that off the.
Speaker 5 (36:26):
Dodgers, of course they'll be able to pull it off.
Speaker 21 (36:28):
The question with them is always how badly do they
want it and what are they willing to pay for it?
And the Dodgers have been very clear going back to
the last offseason, but even before, they.
Speaker 5 (36:39):
Hate overpaying for relievers. Andrew's been very clear about that.
Speaker 21 (36:43):
I don't know that they will overpay for reliever, and
I don't know that they should frankly, because relievers are volatile.
Speaker 5 (36:49):
That's one reason the Dodgers are in the position they're
ad right now.
Speaker 3 (36:52):
They're volatile.
Speaker 21 (36:53):
I would expect they will get a bat too, because
if you look at the numbers of Tao and Confordo,
it's not's good enough.
Speaker 5 (37:02):
So yes, they will be looking in that market as well.
Speaker 19 (37:05):
Byron Buxton at media day at the All Star Game
said he wouldn't waive as no trade clause. Do you
believe if there was something in place between the Dodgers
and Twins he may reconsider?
Speaker 5 (37:16):
That is a great question.
Speaker 21 (37:17):
But if I'm the Twins and my best players said
that who signed up a low market contract with me,
I would take what he says seriously and not even
broach that.
Speaker 19 (37:26):
Ken Rosenthal is our guest from Fox Sports The Athletic.
Speaker 3 (37:29):
Ken.
Speaker 19 (37:29):
When you talk about Andrew Freeman not wanting to overpay
for relievers, are times different because of the way he
spent on relievers during the offseason and the window that
they have now with Otani, Freeman and Betts.
Speaker 21 (37:42):
That is a great question, David, and that's something they're
gonna have to balance because clearly they definitely are in
a situation where, yes, the next few years are very
important to them and they want to win while these
guys are still in their primes at the same time,
they've been burned in the relief book, and you guys,
I don't need to list them all O'Neil Cruz and
(38:04):
you're Don Alvarez and even Zach McKinstry his name has
come up.
Speaker 5 (38:07):
He was an All Star this year.
Speaker 21 (38:08):
So they can go the other way too and get
lesser relievers and try to make them better, which they've
done a good job of in the past in certain cases.
Speaker 5 (38:17):
So I don't know which way they're going to go.
Speaker 21 (38:20):
But the prices for guys like Classe and Jacks and Duran,
I'm not even sure their teams want to trade them, Yeah,
so they might be just wasting their time talking about that.
And then who else is there that is a really
big time.
Speaker 5 (38:33):
Reliever that's out there.
Speaker 21 (38:34):
Felix Bautista just went on the injured list, So I'm
not sure that the lesser options might not be the
preferred options considering everything here, price, need, obviously, the shortness
of the window, if you want to perceive it that way,
it all figures into it.
Speaker 19 (38:51):
Ryan Hellsley's a name that was even talked about during
the offseason. Are you a believer You've seen trades come
together when the talks are going back all the way
back to the December and January. Do you feel like
teams don't have to work as hard to get a
deal done around this time?
Speaker 21 (39:06):
Things do change though his performance is not what it
was last year.
Speaker 5 (39:09):
It's good, it's not amazing.
Speaker 21 (39:11):
So I could see that talk happening, of course, and
that one actually makes a little bit more sense to
me than the controllable guys.
Speaker 5 (39:19):
We're gonna cost that arm and a leg.
Speaker 21 (39:21):
Hulsley is a potential free agent, but at the same time,
his performance has been volatile.
Speaker 5 (39:26):
And if you're.
Speaker 21 (39:27):
Gonna give up what the Cardinals going to want, which
is a premium guy, most likely it's going to be
something where the Dodgers are uncomfortable. Now they have a
great farm system. They can afford to be uncomfortable. But
we'll see if they're willing to do that.
Speaker 19 (39:41):
Before I let you go, there is a local connection
here in Boston, Jaron Duran from Long Beach State. There's
been a lot of talk about him possibly being traded.
Where would you put the percentage of that happening, whether
it's to the Dodgers, the Padres, or any other team.
Speaker 5 (39:55):
I would have.
Speaker 21 (39:56):
Put it actually higher before today, Marcelo Mayer just went
on the injured list Meyer and he is one of
their left handed hitters.
Speaker 5 (40:04):
The Ram is a left handed hitter.
Speaker 21 (40:05):
They thought they had a surplus, now suddenly they don't.
Speaker 5 (40:07):
Have a surplus. So for the right package, I would
move Towanne.
Speaker 21 (40:13):
It would have to be a starting pitcher plus and
probably controllable starting pitcher.
Speaker 5 (40:17):
You're not trading him for a rental because he's got
three plus years of control left.
Speaker 21 (40:21):
So it's a tough trade for the Red Sox to
make because he's a good player, not a great player.
Good player kind of reminds me of Johnny Damon in
some ways when Johnny Damon was really going. But at
the same time, he is a guy that they can
dangle and basically get what they want for him. So
that one probably goes right to the end and it's
gonna be really interesting, all.
Speaker 3 (40:42):
Right, Ken, thanks a lot for the time. Hang in
there between now.
Speaker 19 (40:45):
In July thirty, first, the Dodgers have an off day
and Tampa when the deadline comes through.
Speaker 5 (40:50):
David, you just stay cool this weekend. That's all I'm
worried about right now.
Speaker 19 (40:53):
I know us Softhwest Coast guys, we can't handle it
like Ken Rosenthal.
Speaker 3 (40:56):
Thanks a lot for the time.
Speaker 5 (40:57):
Thanks David there.
Speaker 19 (40:58):
He is the man from Fox Sports, the Athletic and
every other territory.
Speaker 3 (41:02):
We'll send it back to you in the studio.
Speaker 1 (41:03):
Tim, all right, thanks a lot, DV.
Speaker 8 (41:04):

This is Marongo Casino Dodgers on deck on your home
for the Blue All Season Law.
Speaker 8 (45:23):
It's the Dodgers and the Red Sox from Boston. Im
At Sheen and Brian Bellow in the pitching matchup. First
pitch is coming up at four to ten in this
series opener. Before that, we head back out to the
booth one final time before first pitch.
Speaker 1 (45:35):
Tim never Brick Monday, guys.
Speaker 9 (45:37):
Tim, thanks again, we count it out of the first
pitch here tonight at Fenway Park. Im It Shean will
pitch for the Dodgers. Brian Bayo will go for the
Red Sox. For Bao, it'll be his eighteenth appearance, his
seventeenth start overall. He missed the first month of the
season with a shoulder issue and right now getting into
midseason form for the Red Sox.
Speaker 2 (45:57):
Yeah, for she and Saturday against Milwaukee give a five run,
seven hits and that was just in three plus innings
and that needs to be able to change. And he's handled,
you know, the right handers a little bit better than
the lefties. Lefties have hit almost three hundred against them
so far. For Bao, it's interesting because you start to
look okay six and four, but the three starts in
July plus one relief appearance. His ERA is under two
(46:21):
and three quarters and he's allowed a batting average against
it just under two hundred.
Speaker 9 (46:25):
He's been tough and from it she and one of
the keys for him is to be able to keep
the leadoff men off base.
