Speaker 1 (00:42):
Oh Hi everybody, and welcome in to Morongo Casino. Dodgers
on Deck. Hope you're enjoying this beautiful Saturday afternoon here
in southern California as your world champion Los Angeles Dodgers
sixty one and forty three on this season, first place
the NL West, now a six game lead in the division.
(01:04):
After losing ten of twelve, the Dodgers maybe have turned
the corner, winners of two straight three of their last four.
This afternoon, Dodgers look to keep that winning going as
they're in Boston to take on the Red Sox this weekend,
Game two of this three game set from Fenway Pack
Clayton Kershaw on the mound for the Dodgers. First pitch
(01:25):
is coming up at four fifteen. Coming up over the
next sixteen minutes, we have a lot to get to
here on Morongo Casino Dodgers on deck. We're gonna dive
deeper into this pitching matchup. We're also gonna hear from
David Vase throughout the hour. Dv is gonna join us
and go one on one with Imagean. We'll hear from
the Dodger manager himself, Dave Roberts. Get an update on
(01:46):
Mookie bed to his not arrived at the ballpark yet.
He was on personal leave yesterday for the series opener.
Dodgers hoped to have him maybe off the bench in
some role for this second game of this three game series.
We'll hear from Kirsten Watson coming up in just a
little bit. In a few minutes, we head out to
the Gallpin Motors broadcast booth and here from Tim Nevertt
(02:06):
and Rick Monday. Well, last night in Boston, no Mookie,
no show. Hey, home run no problem, as the Dodgers
took the series opener over the Red Sox. Mookie Betts,
as we mentioned, not with the team away for personal reasons.
He's on his way back show.
Speaker 3 (02:22):
Hey.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
Otani did not homer last night for the first time
in over a week, and and she ain't got to start.
The big right hander went to Boston College, just a
few miles away from Fenway Park, making his return to Beantown.
She in five innings all had two runs on three
hits while striking out five along the way. He threw
thirty two pitches in the first Indian It's like, uh oh,
(02:44):
gonna be a long night for the Dodgers' bullpen, but
he bared down and averaged just eleven pitches over the
next four innings of work. The Dodgers offense, meanwhile, went
to work. In the second, Andy Pajez a one out double.
Two batters later, up came top me Edmonton.
Speaker 6 (03:01):
Two two, and Edmund lifts one of the ear in
the shallow left field. That is a base hit. In
the scores, Pie has the Dodgers have a one nothing
lead on a bloop single with two outs and two
strikes off the bat of Tommy Edmund.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
Oh, he hit that ninety eight mile hour sinker to perfection.
He got just enough of it to clear the infield
and not enough of it to get to the outfield.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
As long as it find some grass, that all that
matters for Tommy Edmond, and it did and RBI single
Dodgers grabbed the one nothing lead. Then in the third,
the Dodgers meat of the lineup got after Brian Bao
show Hey o'tani, a one out single Will Smith, then
a single to write Freddie Freeman then got jammed, but
(03:43):
still muscled one into center field that loaded the basis.
Three straight hits Otani, Will Smith, Freddie Freeman. Up came
ta Oscar Hernandez, who battled for a nine pitch at
bat and finally on the ninth pitch drew a walk
with the base of loaded in game show Hey Hotani.
Next batter, Andy Pajes, still with the bases loaded in
(04:05):
two outs or one out, hits a sack flyer right
that scored Will Smith and the Dodgers scored two runs
in the third inning as they grabbed a three nothing lead.
Image Shean went to work in the third did give
up a couple of runs including Alex Bregman RBI double
that made it a three to two game. He would
go out and put up a zero in the fourth.
(04:27):
He'd go out and put up a zero in the
fifth and then turn things over to the bullpen. Anthony Banda,
Eduardo Henriquez Alex Vesia got the eighth inning, and in
the eighth the Dodgers added to their three to two
lead with two huge insurance runs thanks to Tao.
Speaker 6 (04:45):
Yeah East Wings hits a high drive the right center,
going back toward the triangle and drifting near the Bullpennant's gone.
That's a home run for Taoscar, a two run shot,
and the Dodgers take a five to two lead. Home
run number fifteen for ta Oscar Hernandez and that was a.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
Blast, huge home run for Taoscar Hernandez RBI sixty and
sixty one, a three RBI night for Teoscar Hernandez in
the game. He proved to be huge for the Dodgers offense.
Show Hey got on base two times, Will Smith on
base two times, Freddie Freeman on base two times. The
Big four last night, even without Mookie Betts, delivered for
(05:29):
the Dodgers. Ben Casparius came in, pitched the ninth inning,
walked a little bit of a tight rope, but got
out of it with the ground ball out to end
the game. Ballgame over, Dodgers beat the Red Sox last night,
five to two. Emmett Sheen in his return to Boston
where he went to college. He picks up the victory,
his second of the season. Ben Casparius, who went to
(05:50):
Yukon It's from the Northeast, he picked up his first
save of the twenty twenty five season. As the Dodgers
now sixty one and forty three, they extend their lead
in the division, and this afternoon they look to do
it again game two of this three game series in Boston.
Clayton Kershaw on the mound, first pitch at four point fifteen,
and with more we head out to the Galpin Motors
(06:11):
broadcast booth as we welcome in Tim Nepverett and Rick Monday. Guys, Tim,
thanks very much.
Speaker 6 (06:16):
It's going to be a really nice night here at
Fenway Park in Boston. The temperatures are cooled off a
little bit today and we'll be in the mid seventies
around game time. A very pleasant evening for baseball. As
we have a very good pitching matchup on tap for
you at Clayton Kershaw, the future Hall of Famer four
and one with a three to two seven earn run average.
We'll go against American League CSY Young candidate Garrett Crochet,
(06:39):
who is eleven and four with an earned run average
of two point one point nine. He leads the American
League in strikeouts with one hundred and sixty five, the
Red Sox fifty five and fifty, the Dodgers sixty one
and forty three, six games on top of the Padres
in the National League Western Division standings. So tonight game two,
after the Dodgers picked up Game one one, five to
(07:01):
two and Shihon got the win last night, and tonight
they'll try to do it for Clayton Kershaw. Mookie Betts
is not at the ballpark quite yet. They're expecting him
to arrive sometime around game time, so he is not
in the starting lineup. Dave Roberts was asked is he
available off the bench? He said, we'll see when he
gets here if he can get himself ready to play.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
Yeah, we'll find out. In last night's ballgame and the
Dodgers did a lot of different things right, including ti
Oscar Hernanez knocked in three of the five runs, a
big two run home run the second batter to come
on in the eighth inning. And this Dodger ball club too,
tim The other part, too, is is that Dave Roberts
absolutely tickled to death because the first scoreless outing by
(07:42):
the Dodgers' bullpen since the third of July, and that
had been a long time coming. But Messr's banda Enriquez
Vessia and then Casparius. Consparius picked up his first career
save coming out of the bullpen. A very good start
indeed on this road trip, nine games, three different cities.
Speaker 6 (07:59):
So try to put another one in the win column
tonight and again put some more distance between themselves. In
San Diego, both the Padres and Giants lost last night,
the Dodgers seven ahead of the Giants. Tonight's lineup similar
at the top as yesterday, with Otani leading off and
then Will Smith and Tioscar Hernandez batting back to back
second and third against the lefty Crochet, you go down
(08:22):
to the bottom of the order. Hesseng Kim had a
real difficult night at the plate last night, striking out
swinging four times, and his pitch selection was not what
we've seen from him most of the season.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
No, they swinging a lot of pitches in the dirt,
breaking balls in particular, and he's in there tonight. You're
really out of necessity against the LEFTI although you look
at limited bats, he's five for fifteen three thirty three
average against the left handed batters, but he's got to
stand on the bowl a much longer period of time
he's opening up. In fact, the lasted bat made the
comment that when he finished the swing, he was facing
(08:56):
the first base dugout. Now, that's not good for left
handed batter turning all the way around. He's a stand
on the ball. Think about going up the middle, especially
tonight against a tough lefty.
Speaker 6 (09:05):
You know one thing we noticed last night about Boston
the infield defense, especially on the left side. Right Alex
Bregman made a couple of great plays last night. Trevor's
story as well, and both of them contributed with the bat.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
Yeah, they do a very good job and they're going
to be back in there again today. And if we
look at Bregman two for nine against Clayton Kershaw when
he has been able to face the Dodger Lefty. This
is an interesting matchup when you start to look at
these two guys. One is headed the Hall of Fame,
the other one is trying desperately to continue. If he
keeps pitching like he has been so far this season,
(09:41):
it'll not be two long before he'll also be in there.
Speaker 6 (09:44):
It's a Hall of Fame weekend, and Cooper's Town will
talk a little about that during the broadcast today. Who
has been inducted today?
Speaker 2 (09:51):
Already?
Speaker 6 (09:51):
The Red Sox and the Dodgers.
Speaker 4 (09:53):
Game two of.
Speaker 6 (09:54):
This three game set, coming to you from Fenway Park
in Boston Temple.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
All right, thank you guys, as we can you down
to the first pitch on this Saturday afternoon. Dodger fans, still
hungry right now, kind of in between lunch and dinner.
How about picking up some Shaky's Pizza. Yeah, the official
game day partner of the ship, the Dodgers, Shaky's Pizza Parlor.
You can order your Shaky's Pizza and Chicken Mojo's right
now at Shaky's dot Com. Coming up here on Moroco Casino.
(10:19):
Dodgers on Deck, we'll hear from the manager, Dave Roberts.
Get the latest from David Vease. He goes one on
on with Image she and who picked up the victory
last night. We'll dive deeper into this great pitchy matchup
with Clayton Kershawn Garrett Crochet going head to head. But
up next your Tani and Re Ryan and Kirsten Watson
with tay Oscar Hernandez. That's all coming up as we
(10:41):
lead you up to Dodgers and Red Sox on this
Saturday afternoon from Boston. Thanks for being with us. I'm
Tim Kasis, the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 5 (10:55):
This is Morongo Cassino Dodgers Hunting Day on your.
Speaker 7 (11:00):
Home for LA Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
Cleaning up to Dodgers and Red Sox on this Saturday
afternoon from Boston. Clayton, Kernshaw, Garrett Cruche. The pitching match
of a good one game two of this three game
set from Fenway Park. First pitch set for four fifteen.
Speaker 7 (11:19):
This is the Otani.
Speaker 6 (11:22):
Rewind Now the three to two pitch swung on broken
bat liner into right field of base, hit just past
the outstretched glove of Rafaelo the second basement, and Otani's
got himself a single cost him a bat, but he's
on board for Will Smith.
Speaker 3 (11:38):
That's not a bad purchase. Broken bat for a base hit.
Take it all day.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
Long, love it. Showey Otani gets on bass, Will Smith followed,
Freddie Freeman followed, and then te Oscar Hernandez drew a
bass's loaded walk that part of a two run second
inning for the Dodgers. They go on and beat the
Boston Red Sox last night, five to two. Showy Otani
one for four, the broken bad single, also on base
(12:03):
with the walk as the Dodgers get the victory. They're
sixty first of this season. How about Taoscar Hernandez last
night struggled a little bit at the plate here in
late July. Last night in Boston, goes to Fenway Park,
goes one for three, a basis loaded walk. Of course
in the eighth inning, had the two run home run
drives in three of the Dodgers five runs last night
(12:25):
in the victory and afterwards, caught up with yourson, Watson.
Speaker 8 (12:29):
Tay Oscar, you seem to be very very good at
baseball here. Of course, there's all the home run today.
Speaker 7 (12:34):
Tell me, why what is it like playing here?
Speaker 9 (12:37):
I don't know, you know, the atmosphere here is really good.
I like when the fans get into the game. Obviously
we've got a lot of fans from La the Boston fans.
Speaker 4 (12:46):
They're really good.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
You know.
Speaker 9 (12:48):
This is why this is one of my favorite plays
to play. You know, this is like to get me
excited and takes everything.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
Out of me.
Speaker 8 (12:57):
Get a multi head game the other day, the home
run against the calle today off that second pitch.
Speaker 7 (13:01):
One, what were you're looking for?
Speaker 8 (13:02):
And two do you feel like something starting to get
going for you offensively?
Speaker 2 (13:05):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (13:06):
My time and is getting closed to be as good
as I want now. I'm not missing a lot of
pictures in the shrike zone. I'm put it in play,
So that's what I'm looking for. And you know you're
trying to get as many as pictures in the strike
zone and just try to put a good swing on it.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
That's no secret.
Speaker 8 (13:20):
You guys have been looking to get things going as a.
Speaker 7 (13:22):
Group for this win, a complete win.
Speaker 8 (13:24):
What did you see from the pitching, the defense, the offense,
and even how this.
Speaker 1 (13:28):
Game is closed out?
Speaker 9 (13:29):
You know, it takes a little bit of everything. We
put some good at best today, a lot of waltz,
a lot of two strike hits and when the situation comes,
we get the big hits. So and the pitching was there.
The defense we didn't get a lot of action today,
but the pitch and do their job. We actually do
their job soon.
Speaker 8 (13:48):
Tay Askar, congratulations on this one today.
Speaker 1 (13:50):
Thank you appreciate it all right to Oscar Hernandez last
night drives in three of the Dodgers five runs. Imagean
gets the win. Dodgers Baseball is brought to by Cars
for Kids. Ready to donate that little car? Sure you

David Vassay goes one on one with the Dodger right handed.
Coming up in about thirty minutes. We'll dive deeper into
this pitching matchup coming up about forty minutes. David Vassi
joins us. Coming up in just a few minutes with
the very latest, including an update on Blake trying it.
How soon could the veteran reliever be joining this Dodger's
bullpen and added arm would be a plus at this
(14:31):
time of the year. Up next, so we get you
an injury report and we'll hear from the manager himself,
Dave Roberts. It's the Dodgers and the Red Sox from Boston.

This is the LA Dodgers Injury Report.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
Presented by UCLA Healthy Official Medical partner of the Los
Angeles Dodgers. Tanner Scott on the IL with the left
four arm soreness. Kiki Hernandez on the IL with the
left elbow soreness. Max Munsey working his way back. He's
in Arizona getting his swings in on the IL with
the left knee bone bruis. We got an update coming
up on Blake trining from David Veasse, So don't go
(15:44):
anywhere that's coming up. In fact, let's head back out
to Boston as we check in with the Dodger Skipper.
Speaker 2 (15:49):
Anything else with.
Speaker 9 (15:51):
Questions for Dave?
Speaker 2 (15:52):
Dave? Can you just describe Dave? Can you talk about
the pressure.
Speaker 7 (15:56):
In the dugouts with Dave Roberts.
Speaker 4 (15:59):
Yeah, Mookie is wheels up.
Speaker 10 (16:03):
He's on his way here, and I expect him to
be at the stadium sometime around, you know, shortly after
the first pitch.
Speaker 4 (16:13):
Are you at liberty to say why he's missed a
couple of games here?
Speaker 10 (16:17):
It was just I think it's more for him to
talk about. It was something with his family in a
situation where he had to be home, so taking care
of it, a death in the family, and so for
him to you know, be.
Speaker 2 (16:30):
With his family and then.
Speaker 10 (16:31):
To come back and be with his teammates, it was
high priority. The bench, we'll say, kind of just figuring
out when he gets here, how his body feeling. So
I just don't know enough yet.
Speaker 4 (16:43):
You got crochet today when you face a picture like this,
is it just trying to find a way to get
the pitch count up and find a way to get
some runs too.
Speaker 10 (16:53):
Yeah, you know, he's obviously a really talented pitcher. And
the thing with Crochet is that it's not really command
is stuff over command. It's it's moving in a lot
of different directions, and you got to basically trying to
be consistent stubborn in your hitting zone because to kind
(17:14):
of try to chase his intent, it's really hard to
do that. I think you just got to be ready
to hit because there's gonna be some swing a myths.
It's big stuff, but again, you just got to kind
of look middle and be ready to fire on it.
Speaker 2 (17:30):
He's on his way.
Speaker 10 (17:31):
I just don't know, you know, if he's going to
be activated tomorrow or Monday, but it's safe to say
that tomorrow or Monday he'll be activated when.
Speaker 4 (17:40):
He does come back. Whenever he is activated, are you
planning on using him as the closer?
Speaker 10 (17:48):
I think that it'll be a clean inning, it'll be
a leverage inning. I think that kind of given where
we're at. I don't know if he's going to be
just dedicated to the clothes role, because there might be
some times where I feel that, you know, we need
the highest leverage guy for a particular spot.
Speaker 2 (18:08):
Then we'll use him there too.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
All right, there's the manager, Dave Roberts. When we continue
here on Morongo Casino Dodgers on that, we got a
lot to get to with a four fifteen first pitch
coming up from Boston. We'll hear from Immage Sheean coming
up in just a little bit. But up next we'll
check in with David Vassa and get to the very latest.
So we lead you up to first pitch from Boston,
Garrett Crochet Clayton Kershaw, the pitch you match up, they
(18:32):
go head to head on this Saturday afternoon game two
of this three game set. I'm Tim Katson. This is
the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 5 (18:43):
As we were saying, this is Marongo Casino Dodgers on
jack on the official home of LA Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
Dodgers in Boston as they take on the Red Sox
Dodgers winners in the series opener last night. Image She
and Got the Bag three TV goes one on one
with she and coming up in about fifteen minutes. Clayton
Kershaw on the mount today from Fenway Park, first pitch
at four.
Speaker 5 (19:08):
Fifteen, joining Tim kits on Dodgers on deck.
Speaker 4 (19:13):
I accept everybody for who they are.
Speaker 7 (19:15):
This is Dodger insider David Bassi.
Speaker 1 (19:19):
All right, DV Dodgers getting healthy slowly, Bud Shirley, and
that includes Blake Trona.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
What's the latest.
Speaker 4 (19:27):
Blake Trinon is going to be here in Boston tomorrow.
Whether or not he is activated still remains to be seen.
But considering where the Dodger bullpen is, they certainly can
use him. So if he's going to be in Boston,
I would imagine he'll be active for tomorrow's game. There
is rain in the forecast. Don't know if that's playing
a factor into whether or not the Dodgers decide to
(19:48):
activate Tryning tomorrow or on Monday in Cincinnati. But yeah,
that's a site for sore eyes because the Dodger bullpen
has been decimated by injuries and they certainly need a
guy like Bake Blake trying him.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
Back when he returns, David, how does this affect the
bullpen as far as usage leverage guys when they get
used in a game. How is this going to shake out?
Speaker 4 (20:13):
Yeah? Dave Roberts was asked that during his media session today,
and he said that Trinan will not be used as
the exclusive closer. They're still going to use him in
situations where they feel like the game is on the
line and there's a groupings of hitters that they want
to use trining for. But you would have to imagine
(20:34):
that if push comes to shove and they need a
guy to close out a game, Blake Trnon would be
the best candidate. But for now it's a matchup base situation.
But when you get trying back, I mean, considering how
much trouble the Dodgers have had lately of closing out
the ninth inning of games, Blake Trnon would be the best,
(20:55):
the best answer for sure.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
David is brought to you by the twenty twenty five
to one to fifty from California's best selling truck brand.
It's time to see Ford in a new light. Ford
for America from America. Thursday's going to be here before
we know a DV and that's the Major League Baseball
trade deadline. Any new rumors starting to pop up with the.
Speaker 4 (21:15):
Dodgers still Dave Roberts alluded to it. He mentioned a
relief farm, but he also did mention the Dodgers in
the market for another bat. It makes a lot of sense.
They have not gotten a lot of production out of
Michael Conforto, Keith Hernandez. Unknown when he may return. But
as far as the rumors about Jared Duran with the
(21:38):
injury now to Marcelo Meyer, I've been told that the
Red Sox are not going to trade Jared Duran because
they need him. They definitely need him. So all the
rumors surrounding Jared Duranta, I just don't see that happening
with the injury to Meyer.
Speaker 1 (21:53):
All right, DVI, great stuff. We'll check back in with
you in just a couple of minutes. David's gonna go
one on one with Imed Shehan, who got the victory
last night. She and returning back to Boston where he
pitched at Boston College for the Eagles, just a few
miles down the road, a lot of friends and family.
Last night, he gets the victory over the Red Sox.
Coming up here on Moroco Casino, Dodgers on deck. We'll

Hawvey hots Dodgers taking on the Red Sox. Of course,
they met up in the twenty eighteen World Series. With
the Dodgers and Red Sox met up at Dodgers Stadium
last July. We go back to July twentieth of last season,
Dodgers in Red Sox at the Ravine. They went back
and forth, scoring back and forth, taking the lead back
and forth, and finally, in the eleventh inning, the Dodgers
(23:25):
would get it with a walkoff win. Think still, Will
Smith two oh pitch.
Speaker 11 (23:29):
Swing hot baseet, Dodgers win, Dodgers win, Dodgers win.
Speaker 4 (23:35):
In eleven innings.
Speaker 11 (23:37):
Will Smith comes up with his sixth career walk off
hit and the Dodgers winning an extras seven to six,
and they have won the first two games of this
series with the Red Sox. Oh, how do you like that?

Now joined by David Basseying. Here's La Dodgers broadcaster and
World Series champion Dodger Rick Monday.
Speaker 4 (25:18):
Well, Rick, I'm still here at Fenway Park. You're still
here at Fenway Park with the Dodgers, but Walker Buehler
is with the Boston Red Sox and he is still
cannot believe that I'm here and he's not.
Speaker 3 (25:30):
Yeah, I'm hearing that he's gotten on you two days
in a row. And for those that were not with
us yesterday, please reset the scene because he was talking
about the fact that that my understanding is and please elaborate.
He couldn't believe that they chose you over him.
Speaker 4 (25:49):
Yeah, the story goes back in twenty eighteen. Walker Buehler
would tell me every day that he saw me. When
he signs his extension or contract with the Dodgers, he
was going to put in that contract that he wanted
me no longer part of the Dodgers radio broadcast as
a joke, as a joke, but he has brought that
up in front of Alex Cora. A couple of times
(26:11):
that can you believe that he's with the Dodger still?
And I'm not.
Speaker 2 (26:16):
Hey, he brought it up again today, did he not?
He did?
Speaker 4 (26:18):
He did. And the one thing that Alex Cora told
me about Walker Bueller is that he has that same bravado,
still feels like he can outduel anybody. And that's something
that I guess helped him in Game five in the
ninth inning last year.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
Rick. Yeah, Well, he got on you yesterday, got on
you today. I doubt if he.
Speaker 3 (26:39):
Says a word to you tomorrow because he is going
to be pitching in a finale in this series against
Dustin May. That's going to be tomorrow. Meanwhile, you know
this city, they really like the Red Sox. There's no
ifns and butts about it. It is rather amazing, however,
how many blue shirts and Dodger jerseys were here yesterday,
(26:59):
last night, again here today. In fact, outside of the
hotel there were probably seventy seventy five people just congregated
to watch the players, even board their bus in order
to come to Fenway Park today.
Speaker 4 (27:12):
Well, you're a great guy to ask this question too.
I was wondering if you play for the Red Sox
do you take for granted that you're playing here at
Fenway Park when you played at Wrigley, Did you take
it for granted because there's a novelty about.
Speaker 2 (27:24):
It, Well, you know it's unique.
Speaker 3 (27:27):
But at the same time, for example, in Chicago, you
take a path home and you're trying to beat traffic
and stay off the Edens Expressway if you're going north,
and stay off the fifty five if you're going south,
and people would understand and say, hey, we would cut
through neighborhoods and there were people standing actually on the corner.
Speaker 2 (27:47):
I couldn't believe it. The first year I was there.
Speaker 3 (27:49):
Don Kessinger, who was my roommate and also the shortstop
All Star shortstop with the Cubs, told.
Speaker 2 (27:54):
Me about it.
Speaker 3 (27:55):
He goes, Hey, on the way back to areas and
we kind of lived close together. He said, you may
be surprised people standing on the street corners just waving,
and they would be standing there at an intersection. He's
at a stop sign, and I would imagine it's the
same way here. In fact, coming into the ballpark yesterday
and again today, four hours before the game, this place
(28:17):
is already rocking.
Speaker 4 (28:19):
And at Dodger Stadium, Rick, You've told us so many times,
if you have the opportunity to stand in center field
and look at that view, take it all in. When
you were playing for the Dodgers, did you ever stop
and just take it all in?
Speaker 2 (28:31):
Yep, yep.
Speaker 3 (28:33):
In fact, I took it all in just out of
Santa Monica High School trying out for a Dodger rookie team.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
Did.
Speaker 3 (28:38):
Tommy Lasorda was the manager, because at the time, Tommy
was a scout in the organization and they were trying
to sign some local guys to contracts. And it was
a series of tryouts to make a Dodger rookie team.
We played about twenty games in around southern Californian. I
remember the first time I went actually down on the field,
because the final tryouts were at Dodger Stadium. I turned
(28:59):
around and it's overwhelming how large that stadium is. Sitting
in the stands and looking at and say, oh, this
is a big place. You stand in the center field
and you look up and go, oh, my goodness, it's
like looking at from the bottom of the Grand Canyon
and looking up.
Speaker 4 (29:13):
Speaking of taking it all in, earlier today, around two
thirty this afternoon, Rick Clayton Kershaw went out on the
mound and just with a baseball, simulated throwing a pitch
to home plate. We've seen him do that the day
before a start, but I haven't seen him the day
all the start go out and do that.
Speaker 3 (29:30):
Yeah, and we see him alone in the bullpen normally
the day before he is going to start, and you know,
throwing no one else down there, he had baseball in hand,
he would go through delivery, not throw the baseball, but
would go through it. In fact, we noticed it in
Saint Louis that he was not only doing that, he
was actually signaling to a phantom catcher if it was
(29:53):
going to be a slider or a curve ball or
a fastball, even though there's no one else in the
bullpen with him. But he goes through it from a
mental standpoint to get prepared and seeing that even before
the event happens.
Speaker 4 (30:05):
And the first time in his career he went inside
the Green Monster yesterday, Rick and signed the inside wall
of the Green Monster. He had never done that before.
Speaker 2 (30:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (30:14):
Well, there's a few thousand signatures in there, some of
them you can actually read.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
But here's the deal.
Speaker 3 (30:19):
If the older the signatures are in there, the more
legible they are.
Speaker 4 (30:23):
Yeah, you're right. Nowadays the autographs and the signatures are
not as legible as they used to be.
Speaker 2 (30:29):
Oh you mean the Egyptian hieroglyphics.
Speaker 4 (30:31):
Yes, yeah, that's the one way to put it, that's
for sure. Yours is nice. Uh you have nice cursive
writing there, Rick, you have a good autograph.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
Yeah, well you haven't found it out there?
Speaker 4 (30:41):
Have you ever signed it?
Speaker 2 (30:42):
I think I did, you know, centuries ago.
Speaker 4 (30:44):
Maybe we need a new fresh ink.
Speaker 3 (30:47):
Of course when I did it, that was with the
chisel and hammer.
Speaker 4 (30:52):
All right, Rick will check that in with you, was right.
Oh that's awesome, thanks Rickle sen it back to you too.
Speaker 1 (31:01):
All right, Thank you guys. That's the Dodgers plan. Dodgers fans,
you need a game plan too. Start your future to
California Community College. Financial aids available to help you with tuition, books,
and even sometimes the rent. Yeah, it's time to take
that next big step. Classes can fill up quickly. You
got classes in the summer right now. The fall semester
will be here before you know it. So on roll
today and I can go to college dot com. Still
(31:23):
to come here on Wrongo Casino Dodgers on deck. We'll
dive deeper into this great pitchy matchup. Rick'll be back
with Tim Neffert. They'll get you the keys to the
game before first pitch. But I'm next. We go high
and tight with Image Shan riding high after the win
last night that he picked up and his return to
Boston where he pitched at Boston College for the Eagles
in college. As we lead you up to Dodgers and
(31:45):
Red Sox from Fenway Park first pitch of four fifteen,
I'm Tim Kates's the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 5 (31:56):
As we were saying, yes it's Marongo because Dodgers on
Jack on, the official home of LA Dodgers Baseball, lean.
Speaker 1 (32:07):
You up to Dodgers and Red Sox on this Saturday
afternoon Game two. This three game set Clayton Kershaw, Gara Croche.
The bitching matchup Dodgers Baseball is brought to you by
Shaky's Pizza Parlor, the official pizza partner of the Dodgers
Audio Broadcast. When it's game day, it's group day at
Shaky's dot Com.
Speaker 2 (32:26):
And now what.
Speaker 5 (32:27):
Will likely be Vasse fielding insults from a Dodger player.
Speaker 1 (32:31):
It's an engagement of endearment.
Speaker 7 (32:32):
This is high and tight.
Speaker 4 (32:35):
Well, he's wearing Dodger blue, but he was on his
home turf last night at Fenway Park. The Boston college
man himself, Emmit Shean Joint says, Emmitt, thanks a lot
for the time, appreciate it.
Speaker 12 (32:45):
Yeah, thank you, dude.
Speaker 4 (32:46):
Man. What a new England field last night for the Dodgers,
you and Casparius teaming up for the win and the safe.
Speaker 12 (32:52):
Yeah, it was cool, really cool to see Bengo out
there and get it done.
Speaker 4 (32:55):
For sure, Emmi, you obviously went to college here. You
feel the excitement Fenway Park and the Red Sox no
matter if you're from here or not. How special was
it to have the opportunity to pitch here number one
and number two, to pitch the way you did?
Speaker 2 (33:11):
It was awesome.
Speaker 12 (33:12):
Definitely cool to you know, pitch close to home and
have a lot of fans or friends and family come up.
That was probably the best part of was getting to
see them after and getting then the opportunity to watch
me pitch here was really cool. But yeah, I didn't
have too much time to soak it in during the game.
I was kind of trying to just like compete. But
other than that, after and you know, coming here before
(33:33):
it was really cool.
Speaker 4 (33:34):
Yeah, I was wondering how did you keep your focus
and not let the emotions overwhelm you.
Speaker 12 (33:39):
Yeah, I mean I think at this point, I'm kind
of used to pitching. It's kind of just you know,
it's always the same thing. The batter's the same distance away,
so you kind of just have to have like tunnel vision,
I guess, and not really think about whatever else is
going on.
Speaker 4 (33:53):
Yeah, but last night, I mean, Fenway Park sold out crowd.
You obviously know about the history of this ballpark, and
to have that opportunity to pitch here, I would imagine
that maybe you had to block a lot more things out.
Speaker 12 (34:07):
Oh maybe, I mean, I don't know. It's it was like,
it was cool. It was pretty loud here, but it definitely,
you know, it gets pretty loud at home sometimes too,
So I don't know, I feel like having that practice
for the past couple of years, being able to pitch
in big league ballparks is uh, you know, prepared me
for something like that.
Speaker 4 (34:23):
When you were pitching at Boston College, how much of
an opportunity did you have to come to Red Sox games.
Speaker 12 (34:29):
Not too many because we were in season when they
were playing for the most part, but I did. I
went to a few for sure. I went to the
first game after COVID, which was really cool. But yeah, no,
it was. It was cool to get to be on
the other side of.
Speaker 4 (34:41):
That growing up in Connecticut and going to Boston College.
I know you were pitching, but were you a Red
Sox fan growing up?
Speaker 10 (34:48):
No?
Speaker 2 (34:48):
No, I was a Giants fan.
Speaker 4 (34:50):
Yeah, how did that happen?
Speaker 12 (34:52):
I was a big tim Lincycon fan.
Speaker 2 (34:53):
Yeah? Yeah.
Speaker 4 (34:55):
Did you ever try to do the delivery that Lincicom
had where I saw his dad taught him how to
pick a dollar off his front foot?
Speaker 12 (35:02):
Yeah, it didn't work too well for me. I'm more
of a rotational guy. He's a little bit more over
the top, so it didn't work that well.
Speaker 4 (35:08):
But yeah, okay, Emit Sheen is our guest. We're at
Fenway Park today. We have Clayton Kershaw on the Mount Emmett.
You're obviously around him. You've had this opportunity now to
be in spring training, be with him during the season.
What's it like the day after you pitch to have
him and be able to watch everything he does.
Speaker 12 (35:26):
It's amazing. I mean, just to see his routine every
day and see how much work he puts in, it's
really you know, it inspires you, especially you know, he's
been doing it for so long. He's had so much
success that he doesn't have to be working as hard
as he does, I feel like, but he he does
every day and it's it's really cool to see.
Speaker 4 (35:41):
I'm wondering whether or not there's like an unspoken peer
pressure where you see him, like you said, after everything
he's accomplished, putting in that type of work and routine,
does it put some sort of accountability on the rest
of the pitchers to try to work as hard as
he does?
Speaker 1 (35:57):
I think so.
Speaker 12 (35:59):
I mean, I think anytime you have a guy like
that that leads by example, it's it's really cool for
everyone and definitely, you know, everyone wants to be on
the same page as him.
Speaker 4 (36:07):
So what's the most remarkable thing you've noticed watching him?
Speaker 12 (36:11):
Honestly, just that like the fact that he goes about
his work the same way every day and he has
his routine, he sticks to it, and it's just really
cool to see him behind the scenes what he does
and how how hard he works.
Speaker 4 (36:24):
Now that you're healthy, have you found that five day
routine again? Have you tweaked any part of your routine
to get ready for a start.
Speaker 12 (36:32):
Not really, It's pretty similar to what I was doing before.
I guess a little bit more of the rehab stuff.
In between starts. I guess just keeping up with my
arm care and trying to stay on top of everything.
But yeah, for the most part, it's it's pretty similar.
Speaker 4 (36:46):
I haven't asked you this before. I've heard other players.
No matter what the injury is, you're one hundred percent healthy,
but there's always that mental hurdle to trust that your
body can do what it used to. Was there that
moment for you where you said, Okay, I can let
it rip and not have to be concerned about anything
not going the right way.
Speaker 1 (37:06):
Probably?
Speaker 12 (37:06):
Yeah, I think I don't know if I could put
a finger on it, but uh, probably. Later in my
full pen progression in Arizona, I started to feel that way.
Speaker 4 (37:13):
Imi Sheen is our guest. In front of first pitch
between the Dodgers and Red Sox, I was trying to
put into context with Ben Casparius has meant to you
guys this year? I mean going back to last year's
World Series, the different roles that he's been able to do,
including last night getting his first careers save. Are you
guys appreciative of how much he's meant to your staff?
Speaker 2 (37:35):
Absolutely?
Speaker 12 (37:36):
I mean it's it's, you know, amazing to be a
guy that can do anything out there and anything that
they ask of you, you know, he can do it.
So it's it's really cool.
Speaker 4 (37:44):
Did you see that from him after you guys were drafted?
Did you notice there was something special about just his mentality?
Speaker 2 (37:50):
Absolutely?
Speaker 12 (37:51):
Yeah, No, I mean he's you know, shown it since
in college. Even when I was watching him play, I
could tell he's a special player for sure.
Speaker 4 (37:57):
How is he able to It must take a special
person to be able to do what he has done, right,
Because you guys are creatures of habits, So how much
do we fully appreciate how challenging it is what he's done.
Speaker 12 (38:09):
Yeah, it's not easy for sure. I mean I've had
to go back to the bullpen a couple times and
it's it's it's different, and yeah, it's it's just really
cool to see he's he works really hard, so it
makes sense.
Speaker 4 (38:20):
I love it. Do you work as hard as consparious.
Speaker 12 (38:22):
I like to think, So I don't know.
Speaker 4 (38:25):
Ima Steane is our guest. All right, Before I let
you go, let's rewind to last night, because I know
the Red Sox are still talking about this. That first
st inning. Thirty two pitches thrown in that first st inning.
How were you able to recalibrate and be able to
stay in the game for five innings?
Speaker 2 (38:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 12 (38:40):
I think that second inning that was short was really important,
just being efficient and then trying to just you know,
cool off in between, get some water. It was pretty
hot out last night too, so but yeah, Duran put
put up a great app at that first that first
step out of the game, and after that I knew
it was kind of gonna.
Speaker 2 (38:58):
Be a battle.
Speaker 12 (38:59):
But yeah, after that, tried to just stay locked in,
you know, kind of wipe it and say that's that's done,
that's in the past.
Speaker 4 (39:06):
So how big was it to neutralize the bottom third
of their order because in the second inning you got
out of it with six pitches and then in the
fourth inning you struck out the side in order.
Speaker 12 (39:16):
Yeah, I mean, I think you just got to take
your house where you can get them, especially in a
game where I didn't have my best stuff, trying to
just go out there and compete with what I had
for sure.
Speaker 4 (39:25):
All right, this is the real final question. Don't handshake
me yet, She and I'm not done yet. So now
that you pitched, you got your family and friends in town.
Did you walk around Boston Common? Did you go by
the childs Riva? Did you go look at the plaque
of Imagine at Boston College? How did you spend today?
Speaker 9 (39:43):
Uh?
Speaker 12 (39:44):
No, I just got breakfast with a couple buddies today. Yeah, no,
I didn't go. I don't think there's a plaque up
there for me. But but no, we just went and
got breakfast.
Speaker 4 (39:51):
Yeah, you have a spot out here? Can you recommend anything?
Speaker 12 (39:55):
Jim's Deli over Beating near BC is a good spot.
Pinos Pinos Pizza over there too is good.
Speaker 4 (40:00):
So yeah, all right, thanks a lot for the tips.
Speaker 10 (40:03):
Shean.
Speaker 4 (40:04):
The interview's over now, thank you, thank you for the time.
Speaker 12 (40:07):
Thank you, go pock the car.
Speaker 4 (40:11):
There, he goes em it she and has been our guest.
We'll send it back to you in the studio.
Speaker 1 (40:14):
Tim, all right, thanks a lot, DV, thank you, immit,
great job last night. As we lead you up to
first pitch from Boston. When we returned, we'll dive deeper
into this pitching matchup with a couple of left handers
going at it. One future Hall of Famer, so it
leads you up to Dodgers and Red Sox on this Saturday.
I'm Tim Katson. This is the world champion Los Angeles
Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 5 (40:40):
This is Morongo Casino Dodgers hunting on your home for
La Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 1 (40:48):
Hits the Dodgers and the Boston Red Sox from Fenway.
Part Game two of this three game sets. First pitch
coming up at four fifteen.
Speaker 5 (40:56):
And now before the Dodgers hit the dineck, we look
at the pitching.
Speaker 1 (41:01):

See your Toyota dealer today. They make it easy. Garrett
Crochet on the mound for the Red Sox, twenty six
year old left hander eleven and fourth to two nineteen
Eroray for her first round pick out of Tennessee of
(41:23):
the White Sox back in twenty twenty traded to the
Red Sox this past offseason. Making his twenty second start
this year, He's been really good. He leads the major
leagues in strikeouts with one hundred and sixty five. He
ranks in the top three and innings pitched wins an Ray.
The Red Sox have won eight of his nine starts
since the beginning of June. He has gone seven to
(41:44):
zero during that span. It marks his longest career streak
of winning decisions and the longest by a Red Sox
starter since Michael Waka back in twenty twenty two. Last
time out, six innings, one run, eight hits, five strikeouts
in a win over the Cubs. This is his fourth game,
second start against the Dodgers in his career. He has
gone in two starts now, giving up no runs in
(42:07):
seven and two third innings with nine strikeouts. He's been
really good against the Blue Clayton Kershaw. He's been great
over his career. Thirty seven year old future Hall of
Famer in his eighteen season now in the big leagues,
all with the Dodgers four and one with a three
twenty seven er.
Speaker 2 (42:24):
Ray.
Speaker 1 (42:25):
He's making his twelfth start this season. In his final
start here, in the month of July. Well, it's been
a really good month for Clayton Kershaw. He recorded his
three thousand strikeout against the White Sox early in the month.
He recorded two outs pitching in the second inning of
the All Star Game in Atlanta just a few weeks ago.
Last time out, four and a third innings, three runs,
(42:45):
five hits, got a no decision in that outing against
the Milwaukee Rors. For Clayton Kershaw, facing the Red Sox
in the regular season for the first time. He faced
them twice in the twenty eighteen World Series, going zero
to two with his seven to thirty six r ray
Clayton Kersh Garrett Crochet, two really good left handers going
at it. Dodgers Red Sox were fifteen minutes away for
(43:06):
first pitch. Key's to the game, our next, I'm Tim

Speaker 5 (43:22):
The Blue all season long Hanson Dodgers in Red Sox
Game two.
Speaker 1 (43:27):
This three game weekend setting from Boston. Clayton Kershaw Garrett Crochet.
The pitching matchup. First pitch coming up at four fifteen
before first pitch. Let's head back out to the booth
one final time. Tim Neverett Rick Monday, guys.
Speaker 2 (43:41):
Tim, thanks again.
Speaker 6 (43:42):
We're counting you down to the first pitch at Fenway
Park tonight. Boy, is it going to be a pleasant night.
Another sellout crowd is expected here and the Fenway neighborhood
has been buzzing all day. And you know what's neat
about it too, mo, is the fact that there are
a lot of Dodger fans in town. You don't normally
see that when the Red Sox are it's mostly Red
Sox shirts and hats that you'll see on people walking
(44:04):
around town here. But there have been a lot of
Dodger fans here for this yeries.
Speaker 3 (44:08):
Well, Dodgers travel very well, and all you have to
do is look out in the stands and really even
in the downtown area today as it was yesterday, Broad
Toby that way tomorrow morning as well.
Speaker 2 (44:19):
The Dodger fans, no question about it. They're here, and
they're here in.
Speaker 3 (44:22):
Forced Dodgers by the way, sixty one and forty three,
and that lead now. They started today six games in
front of San Diego, seven in front of San Francisco,
and trying to gain even more ground on those two teams.
Speaker 6 (44:35):
In particular, pitching matchup tonight, battle of all stars here
Clayton Kershaw going for the Dodgers, Garrett Crochet, another left
hander going for Boston, and Boston presents a challenge tonight
on the hill. Crochet is the American League leader in
strikeouts with one hundred and sixty five. He's right up
there in terms of ERA two nineteen. He's been one
(44:55):
tough customer. However, they've not gotten them a lot of
runs when he he has pitched at home. His run
support average is greater away from Fenway than here, and.
Speaker 3 (45:05):
Kroshet really negates the top of the lineup in fact,
numbers two, three, four in the lineup this year, the
last three starts in particular just a one to fifteen average.
So for Kershee the last seven games five and zero
ERA one point nine. You look on the flip side
with kershaw last seven starts, he's four and one with
an ERA barely above two and a half. If for
(45:25):
Kershaw would love to see some runs on that scoreboard
early tonight, and.
Speaker 6 (45:29):
The Dodgers expecting to possibly get some help in the
bullpen as soon as tomorrow. Blake Trinam right hand to reliever,
is on his way to Boston. Whether he'll be activated
tomorrow or not still remains to be seen. If not,
you would expect the first day of the Cincinnati series
on Monday. But there is some more help on the way,
(45:49):
and we understand that both Blake Snell and the Roki
Sasaki continue their rehabs. Blake Snell getting closer, We're not
sure when he'll be back in. Sasaki is throwing the
hitters now at the Arizona Complex. He is making strides
to get back here and get in the rotation as well.
In the meantime, business to conduct tonight in Boston, Clayton
(46:09):
Kershaw against Garrett Crochet, Dodgers and Red Sox Game two lineups.
Some first pitch around the corner.
Speaker 1 (46:15):
All right, thank you, guys. Dodgers, winners of two in
a row, three of their last four, sixty one and
forty three, top the NL West, as Tim mention, the
Dodgers six games up on the Padres, who have lost
four in a row, seven games up on the Giants,
who have dropped seven of their last ten. The Padres
in Saint Louis. First pitch against the Cardinals coming up
in just a couple of minutes. Giants will be home
(46:36):
later on tonight against the New York Mets, so take
care of business, hopefully pick up some ground in the division.
First pitch is next from Fenway Park in Boston. Garrett Crochet,
Clayton Kershaw Dodgers, Red Sox. This has been Morogo Casino
Dodgers on deck on the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers
Audio Network
Speaker 2 (47:00):
Two
