Speaker 8 (00:41):
It's Tim Kats everybody, It's more on go Casino. Dodgers
on Deck on this Sunday morning, thanks for being with
us as your world champion. Los Angeles Dodgers are in
Boston for a three game weekend set with the Red Sox.
After winning the series opener on Friday night, the Dodger
dropped Game two of this series last night, and today
(01:03):
they look to come back and get the series win.
Dodgers sixty one and forty four overall on this season
going into play a five game lead over the San
Diego Padres, seven games up on the San Francisco Giants,
and today in the series finale, Dustin May goes for
the Dodgers against former Dodger Walker Buehler, who is on
(01:27):
the mound facing his former team with the Boston Red Sox.
First pitch from Fenway Park coming up at ten thirty five.
Coming up over the next hour here on Morongo Casino,
Dodgers on deck, you are gonna hear from Dodger catcher
Will Smith.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
That's coming up in forty five minutes.
Speaker 8 (01:42):
David Vase, our Dodger insider, joins us throughout the hour.
We'll check in, of course with the manager, Dave Roberts.
We got your Dodgers magical moment. An update on the
Dodgers' injury list, as the Dodgers, as we kept saying,
are gonna start getting healthy, especially with their pitching arms,
and that's exactly what has happened today. More on that
coming up, as the Dodgers welcome back Blake Trining. Shortly,
(02:04):
we'll visit with Kirsten Watson from Sports in at La.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
In a just a few minutes, we.
Speaker 8 (02:07):
Head out to the Gallpin Motors broadcast within here from
Tim Neffett and a Rick monday Well. Last night in Boston,
the Dodgers scored early, but not often after that. The
Dodgers last night going up against Garrett Croche, one of
the best left handers in baseball this year, top three
in almost all the stats in the American League, but
the Dodgers didn't care. Three pitches into the game, Showhy
(02:31):
said Sinara.
Speaker 5 (02:32):
Is the American League leader in strikeouts with one hundred
and sixty five and Otani hits the ball high and
deep to center field, way back, it goes toward.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
The wall and it will be gone.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
That's a home run for O'tani To lead off the game,
o'tany with his thirty eighth home run of the.
Speaker 5 (02:51):
Season, his tenth leadoff home run of the season, in
the twelfth one he's had in the first inning this year.
Lightning strikes early for the Dodgers.
Speaker 7 (03:04):
Only the third home run by a left handed batner
off of Crochet.
Speaker 8 (03:09):
Four hundred and fourteen feet to straightaway center field at
Fenway Park. Three pitches into the game, showy Otani with
his thirty eighth home run of the season. The Dodgers
let it one to nothing. Two batters later. Still eight
pitches into this game, Garrett Crochet gave it up again and.
Speaker 5 (03:27):
The kicking the pitch schante Oscar swings and drives it
deep to left.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
This one is back. It is over the monster and
gone out on the Lansdown Street.
Speaker 5 (03:37):
Two nothing Dodgers on two first inning home runs against
Garrett Crochet. Home run numbers sixteen for ta Oscar and
he's homer Nollen.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
Back to back games.
Speaker 7 (03:53):
Where there was thunder and lightning yesterday and with clear skies,
there's thunder and lightning here tonight.
Speaker 8 (04:00):
Eight pitches into the game, two solo home runs the
Dodgers got after Garrett Crochet early. Unfortunately, that was all
the offense the Dodgers would get the rest of the way. Meanwhile,
the Boston Red Sox got to Clayton Kershaw with three
runs in the second inning. They tacked on another in
the fifth. Kershaw would go four and two third innings,
(04:23):
allowed four runs on six hits, walked to struck out
to through ninety two pitches. He left it up to
the bullpen the rest of the way as the Dodgers
were chasing two runs from the fifth inning and on,
and the Dodgers offense just couldn't muster anything er for
three with runners in scoring position, seven runners left on base. Meanwhile,
the Dodgers bullpen and wuaro Enriquez, Alexis Diez will Climb
(04:46):
Kirby Yates all put up zeros in their efforts in
relief to keep the Dodgers in the game. Unfortunately, the
Red Sox closed the door. Garrett Crochet ten punchouts over
six innings. He dialed it in after his early troubles
in the first inning. As the Red Sox get the
win forty two. The Dodgers fall to sixty one and
forty four on this season, and they're back at it
(05:08):
today a final game of this three game series. Dustin May,
Walker Buehler the pitching matchup. First pitch at ten thirty five,
and with more we head out to the Galpin Motors
broadcast booth as we welcome in Tim Neverett and Rick Monday.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Guys, Tim, thank you very much.
Speaker 5 (05:23):
Getting set for the third and final game of this
series between the Dodgers and the Boston Red Sox at
Fenway Park. This is the rubber game of the three
game set. Dodgers winning Game one here Friday night, last
night falling four to two. Garrett croche overt Clayton Kershaw
on that one, and today Dustin May, the right hander,
faces his former teammate, Walker Buehler. Bueller facing the Dodgers
(05:45):
for the very first time in his career last year
closing out the World Series in New York against the Yankees,
and today he pitches against a lot of his teammates.
It's going to be a surreal environment, I would think
on the mound for Walker Buehler today as he goes
against the Dodgers.
Speaker 7 (06:00):
You know, it's not that easy to go ahead and
pitch against guys that you have played with, or even
play against the other team when you know them so well.
So we've got to keep the control of the emotions
for the Dodgers. Has been kind of a strange I
think two games series so far. Last night fifteen strikeouts
the Dodgers, and hitters in the two games twenty five strikeouts.
(06:22):
Last night, the Dodgers got off to what seemed like, oh,
it's going to be an easy street two home runs
in the first three batters of the ball game against
Garrett Crocheme, but the Dodgers only two for ten with
runners in scoring position this series and last night, not
only did they wind up losing forward to two, they
had three runners thrown out on the bases that did
(06:42):
not help their cause at all.
Speaker 5 (06:44):
Sort they got to cut down on the outs on
the basis for sure. Lookie Batch back of the lineup.
He will lead off today playing shortstop and I imagine
as the first batter of the ball game today, he'll
get a grand reception and probably have to tip his home.
Speaker 7 (06:56):
Yeah that in the pitch clock will stop, because it's
going to be a nice thing. It's always nice to
see guys that come back to the where they started
the careers and made such an impact. That's the case,
so it's not a bad forceome if you're looking at
bets Otani, the Oscar Hernanez and Freddie Freeman. A little
different change in the lineup today, Dalton Rushing will do
the catching. He's going to beat in the eighth spot.
(07:17):
Rojas will be at second base, in Tommy Edmond again
starting at the third base position.
Speaker 5 (07:23):
So the Dodgers have won four straight series against Boston
as they look to start this road trip with a
series win before heading off to Cincinnati later today. But
one thing they cannot do this month is have a
winning month.
Speaker 7 (07:36):
They're eight and twelve in July. They've got four games left.
Looked at some numbers earlier this morning. How about the
Western Division the National League? Nobody in the last ten
games has a winning record. The Dodgers are five hundred,
they're five and five, San Diego four and six, San
Francisco two and eight. Both Arizona and the Rockies are
five and five, and only one team in the American
(07:57):
League Eastern Division has a winning record in the last
ten that being Toronto. Toronto is kind of stretching things out.
They've won eight of the last ten. And for the
Red Socks, they find themselves exactly as the Dodgers are.
They're five and five the last ten games. Trying to
improve and do it in a hurry.
Speaker 5 (08:13):
Another day, another conversation about shoe Hey o'tani. He has
ninety nine runs to lead Major League Baseball Scores one
today is the first to get to one hundred runs.
He's homered in six of his last seven games and
facing a pitcher in Walker Bueller, who has a home
runs per nine of one point eight, which translates to
being the fourth worst home runs per nine rate in
(08:35):
the American League. He's given up seventeen. It's a good
matchup for Otani. That is, hopefully both these teams can
beat the Weatherman. The Dodgers will head on to Cincinnati
after the completion of this game. We've had some brain earlier.
It's been foggy, it's been drizzly. Weatherman says is going
to be fined for the game. But we're going to
find out and when this game gets underway, hopefully the
Dodgers can find their footing a little bit better. From
(08:57):
an offensive standpoint. Walker Bueller pitching for the Red d Socks,
Dustin May going for the Dodgers. As we get you
ready for this one, an on time start is expected,
although it is raining here this afternoon and the tarp
is on the field. We'll keep you updated on that
tim All right, thank.
Speaker 8 (09:13):

on this Sunday, Dodger fans, get your game day meal on.

Reewine and Sports Net LA's Kirsten Watson. We'll stop by
the booth and that's all coming up as we lead
you up to Dodgers and Red Sox on this Sunday
morning final game of this three game series. Dustin May,
Walker Buehler the pitching matchup. First pitch coming up at

ten thirty five. I'm Tim Kats's the world champion Los

Speaker 8 (10:14):
Leading up to Dodgers and Red Sox on this Sunday
morning final game of this three game set. They have
split the first two games at Fenway Park. Dustin May
and Walker Bueller the pitching manchu first pitch set for
ten thirty five.
Speaker 4 (10:27):
This is the Otani.
Speaker 5 (10:29):
Rewinde and Otani hits the ball high and deep to
center field.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
Way back.
Speaker 5 (10:34):
It goes toward the wall and it will be gone.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
That's a home run for Otani to lead off the game.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
Otani with his.
Speaker 2 (10:44):
Thirty eighth home run of.
Speaker 5 (10:45):
The season, his tenth leadoff home run of the season,
in the twelfth one he's had in the first inning
this year. Lightning strikes early for the Dodgers.
Speaker 8 (10:57):
Show Hey Otani first batter of the game goes deep
to center field, his thirty eighth home run of the season,
RBI number seventy one. Unfortunately, the rest of the way
three punchouts yep one for four night last night with
the home run, three strikeouts as the Dodgers fell to
the Red Sox for to two.
Speaker 4 (11:17):
This is Kirston's Corner with Kirston Watson Nay.
Speaker 8 (11:22):
Kirston now joins us from Fenway Park. Brought to you
by Cars for Kids. Ready to donate that old car?
Call eight seven to seven Cars for Kids right now,
Friendly agents standing by to take your donation. That's Cars
with the K to donate your car today. We knew
this series was about Walker Buehler facing his former team.
He got his ring on Friday night and here we
(11:43):
are on.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
Sunday and he gets the pitch against them.
Speaker 9 (11:46):
It's for sure going to be an interesting one. You know,
even just seeing him in his Red Sox uniform the
other day talking to him, he's talked about how this
season has been a grind for him. You know, things
haven't been ideal. He is coming off of a good
start against the Phillies, and you know, he's a competitor,
so he's going to bring it against his former team.
But even Dave Roberts was saying, like, it is kind
(12:08):
of strange because like, less than what six months ago
he was I guess now it's probably more than six
months ago, but he was competing for a World Series
with the Dodgers and so now being in a situation
in which he is facing off against them. Obviously this
is a historical just atmosphere, all of the energy in
this one, so it should be interesting. But Dave does
think that he's going to be aggressive. I think he's
going to go to that curve ball a lot, which
(12:30):
is kind of funny because that was a pitch that
the Dodgers really wanted him to lean into and he
didn't with the Dodgers, so they do expect him to
be kind of throwing that but hey, he's gonna bring it,
and Dustin May is also excited about just this matchup
as well, kind of getting to face off with his
former teammate.
Speaker 8 (12:46):
Dodgers will move on to Cincinnati for three and then
Tampa next weekend for the rest of this nine game
road trip, and we found out a lot about what
the blueprint is going to look like moving forward with
this rotation.
Speaker 9 (12:58):
Yeah, exactly. Think look now that there's so many starters
that are getting healthy, so Blake Snell should be returning
from the IL and that Tampa Bay series today, Blake
Trinam has returned when it comes to the bullpen, so
we've now kind of there was a point where I
felt like there were not enough starting pictures and now
there are so many starting pictures. So what does that mean?
(13:18):
So even someone like Dustin May who'd yes, has to
start today. But in his last outing, he came out
of the bullpen behind show. Hey, and he is someone
where Dave has said they don't necessarily know just yet
what the plan is going to be, but he is
someone who we could potentially be seeing him as a
bullpen are and itt she and we've seen him out
of the bullpen we've seen him start, he potentially could
(13:41):
be whether it's a bulkending guy out of the bullpen,
just finding different situations. It does sound like once Blake
Snell returns, it is going to be a six man
rotation that's gonna help, especially with show hay As moving forward,
they don't see the need to have a piggyback situation
with him. So the plan for him on Wednesday and
(14:01):
Cincinnati is going to be four innings of work and
then with the off day to follow, it'll just be
kind of a traditional bullpen behind him. And that's something
that even with kind of show Hey schedule, they're going
to try to place him in situations in which he
is going to be pitching with the off day that follows,
because it gives him just a full day to recover
(14:23):
coming off of pitching and hitting. So, you know, there
are still some questions moving forward as to what things
could look like. As another perfect example is just quickly
is Bobby Miller with the reports of him moving to
the bullpen at ok See. You know, if he can
be a high leverage he's got the hard stuff, if
he can be aggressive and you know, an inning of
work compared to multiple innings of work. Maybe that can
(14:44):
help build the confidence. So we are starting to see
some of those moves happen. And Dave was just saying
today that ultimately it's just about you want your best
arms come October and you want to put them in
situations to be successful. So how can you continue to
do that. So we are going to be seeing some
movement from the rotation to the bullpen and of sorts.
(15:04):
But they do believe that they've got some more time
before they really have to make those decisions.
Speaker 8 (15:08):
We knew this time would come, would they start getting
healthy with their arms, And here we are getting healthy.
Speaker 1 (15:13):
At just the right time.
Speaker 8 (15:14):
Curristen, we appreciate it still to come here on Wrongo Casino,
Dodgers on deck, will dive deeper into this pitching matchup.
David Veasse goes one on one with Will Smith. But
up next we'll get you an injury report and we'll
hear from the manager Dave Roberts. That's all coming up
as we lead you up to Dodgers and Red Sox
on this Sunday morning, first pitch at ten thirty five.
I'm Tim kas Is, the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers
(15:35):
Audio Network.
Speaker 4 (15:41):
This is Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck on your home
for the blue all season long.
Speaker 8 (15:50):
Marago Casino Dodgers on Deck continues on this Sunday morning
as we lead you up to first pitch from Boston
Dodgers in Red Sox Marongo Casino Resort at Spot a
Grand Slam for good times. Well, you heard Rick and
Tim talk about the weather moving through Boston right now,
light rain as we speak, and because of that, tarp
is on the field and this game will not start
(16:12):
on time as scheduled at ten thirty five am Pacific
one thirty five pm Eastern Standard time. So we'll keep
you up to date on what time first pitch will happen,
but they will not have an on time first pitch,
just to make sure this rain system can blow through
downtown Boston. It's again Dustin May and Walker Bule of
(16:33):
the pitching matchup. Let's get you caught up with an
injury report.
Speaker 4 (16:37):
It's the LA Dodgers Injury Report.
Speaker 8 (16:41):
Presented by UCLA Health, the official medical partner of the
Los Angeles Dodgers. Tanner Scott on the il with the
left forearm soreness. The good news is the Dodgers getting back.
Blake trying and off this sixty day il with the
right forearm tightness. He is back and available to pitch
if necessary. Blake Snell trending in the right direction. David
(17:02):
Vast has got more on snell Zilla coming up in
just a couple of minutes. Again, we talked about all
these injuries to the Dodgers arms, the rotation and the bullpen.
Eventually these arms would come back, and they are starting
to stagger back here to help out this Dodgers team
here in late July. The trade deadline coming up on Thursday,
certainly the right time, right place for these guys to
(17:22):
start getting healthy and coming back to help out this
Dodgers team atop the NL West and looking at some
others potentially Roki Sasaki, Tony Gonsolin, Max Munsey's not far
behind with that left knee bone bruise. Let's head back
out to Fenway Park as we check in with the
Dodger skipper.
Speaker 3 (17:41):
Questions for Dave, Dave, can you just describe Dave? Can
you talk about the pressure.
Speaker 10 (17:46):
In the dugouts with Dave Roberts, It's gonna be it's
certainly gonna be different. You know, even seeing him yesterday
was was different. Obviously a lot of great memories competing
with him, and I know what he's going to bring today.
He's going to bring everything he's got, really want to
(18:06):
stick it to us. It's going to be fun. I
think that Walker has the ability to kind of focus
but still taking the fact that he's facing former teammates
and you know, less than six months ago he won
a championship together. So I'm looking forward to it. I
know our guys are you.
Speaker 11 (18:27):
Know.
Speaker 10 (18:27):
I think his last one was good. I think the
throws were good. I know he's looking forward to facing
off against Walker. Pitching at Fenway Park, you know, getting
a start versus coming into a game I think is
good for him. But I think it's going to be
a really well pitched ball game today.
Speaker 8 (18:49):
Where do you see Dustin fitting in once play sells
back into rotation?
Speaker 10 (18:53):
Yeah, you know, I think that obviously with show him
building up with Blake coming back, which which hopefully will
be you know, next weekend after yesterday's outing, I don't
know yet. I think that you're talking about Emmett, You're
talking about Dustin and how it looks. I think that
(19:15):
we'll get through this one, and you know things, I guess,
you know, trying to push it down the line a
little bit, but in all honesty, things seem to change
a lot, you know, in each week. So I think
that right now, I don't want to put anyone into
a corner right now, and we'll just kind of read
and react.
Speaker 11 (19:34):
After this start, we've seen reports about just whether it's
Bobby Miller moving to the bullpen and things like that,
when do you, if you do decide with some of
these other guys, when do you need to start seeing
them just kind of whether it's getting different reps or
experience out of the bullpen.
Speaker 10 (19:49):
Well, I don't know if there's any timeline deadline right now.
I mean I think that's later, but I think that
you're seeing it right now. We recalled Justin Robleski. He's
going to be in the pen. He's a starter, but
I think that just trying to get a quality arm,
add some length potentially, but still using him in you know,
(20:12):
two inning spurts, three inning spurts. I think he's going
to be helpful for our pen. So, yeah, you mentioned
Bobby Miller, and I think that this might be something
that unlocks him, you know, going hard for a shorter
period of time to get some confidence for him, which
could help us here. And then so to the other question,
I just don't know how it's going to plow out
(20:33):
for Emmitt and Dustin. But you know the goal is
to get the best pitchers on your roster in whatever role.
Speaker 12 (20:41):
You guys gonna go with, like a six man rotation
with Otani like almost built up.
Speaker 10 (20:45):
Now, I think, yeah, yeah, I think that, you know,
show he's going to go on Wednesday, and then he'll
probably pitch the following Wednesday, and then so that just
kind of lends usself to the six men.
Speaker 8 (20:56):
All Right, there's a manager, Dave Roberts explaining a lot
about what's to come. I'm here with this starting rotation,
going to a six man rotation and show Heyo Tani
the plan for him moving forward when we continue here
on Dodgers on Deck, we got a plan as we
lead up to first pitch that includes chatting with David Vezzay. Next,
that's the very latest on what's happening in Boston at
Fenway Park. With the rain again, we will not start
(21:18):
on time. This game will be delayed because of rain
in the downtown Boston area. Also, David's got an update
on Blake Snell and his return to this Dodgers rotation.
He leads up to Dodgers in Red Sox from Boston.
I'm Tim Katson's a world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 4 (21:39):
As we were saying, this is Marongo Casino. Dodgers on
deck on the official home of LA Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 8 (21:51):
Dodgers at Red Sox, wrapping up this three game set.
Dodgers won the series open on Friday. Red Sox bounce
back beating Clayton Kershaw last night. Dodgers looking at get
the series win today Dustin May and Walker Bueller. The
pitching matchup still, the couples have deeper into this pitching matchup.
Speaker 1 (22:06):
We'll hear from Dodger catcher Will Smith, but.
Speaker 4 (22:09):
First joining Tim Kats on Dodgers on Deck.
Speaker 6 (22:14):
I accept everybody for who they are.
Speaker 4 (22:16):
This is Dodger insider David Basil right.
Speaker 8 (22:19):
DV looking at the weather on the East coast. I
know in Cooper's town, big Hall of Fame induction ceremony
got pushed back about thirty minutes because of the rain
in the northeast. Well tarp is on the field of
Fenway Parble. What's the latest there.
Speaker 6 (22:32):
Yeah, that's the sense as well here in Boston that
we are going to start the game in a delay
like you mentioned, but not expected.
Speaker 1 (22:40):
To be that long of a delay there.
Speaker 6 (22:43):
I could see somewhere between a thirty minute delay thirty
to forty minute rain delay.
Speaker 1 (22:48):
Right now.
Speaker 6 (22:48):
The tarp is still on the field, the rain's not
really coming down that hard. But look, the Red Sox
don't want to compromise the Walker Bueller's start. They're not
as deep in their bullpen the Dodgers are, and I
think that's part of the reason why Justin Robleski was
called up today to give them some coverage today just
in case the weather goes sideways or they need to
(23:11):
back up Dustin May earlier in the game than what
is usually expected. So that's the reason why they're in
a holding pattern despite the rain not being that that
hard right now.
Speaker 8 (23:21):
David has brought to you by the twenty twenty five
to for f one fifty from California's best selling truck brand.
It's time to see forded in a new light forward
to for America from America. This pitching matchup involves Dustin May,
against former Dodger Walker Bueller.
Speaker 6 (23:34):
Yeah, and Walker has been in great spirits. He's still
the same guy to him. You know, he's had a
rough year, similar to his season last year. His ERA
is just touching six right now, five p seventy two,
and he's looking forward to this. And we talk about
Walker Bueller being a big game pitcher, Well, in his mind,
(23:54):
this is a big game and everybody's expecting him to
have his best stuff, maybe his best outing of the season.
And here's what Walker Buehller said the first day we
got to Boston about facing his old team.
Speaker 13 (24:08):
Yeah, I think you just try and keep it as
normal as you can. Obviously it'll be a little a
little awkward.
Speaker 3 (24:13):
Or funny or whatever.
Speaker 13 (24:14):
But at the end of the day, I think we're
all playing a sport for paychecks, and it's kind of
the goal is to go and get one over on him. So,
you know, I don't think preparationalizing anything's really different.
Speaker 6 (24:29):
I thought they played the game for the love of
the game, not for the paychecks, right. I know the
paychecks are big these days, especially twenty million dollars for
a pitcher that has an ERA close to six, But nonetheless,
I feel like there's some gamesmanship already going on Tim
This morning, Dave Roberts said, the Dodgers tried to encourage
Bueller to use his curveball more often. So he feels
(24:51):
like Bueller, despite the Dodgers, is going to use his
curveball a lot today. So we'll wait to see.
Speaker 8 (24:57):
There's a lot of baseball information guys out there, but
when it comes to Blake Snell, outside of Snell himself,
the best source of Snell information is you, David Vat, say,
what's the latest on Blake Snell in his return to
the Dodgers.
Speaker 6 (25:12):
Well, yesterday he was outstanding pitching in Reno for Oklahoma City.
Reno not an easy place to pitch. Blake Snell went
four and two thirds no hit innings for Oklahoma City
yesterday with seven strikeouts and four walks. Dave Roberts alluded
to the fact that he will be back in the
rotation this weekend in Tampa. I would venture to say,
(25:35):
with the days lining up the way they are, Otani
pitching Wednesday, there's a very good chance Blake Snell pitches
the first game of that series against his former team
in the Rays.
Speaker 1 (25:45):
You go Dodger fans. You heard it from DV.
Speaker 8 (25:47):
Looks like Friday is a potential return. David gray Stuff
will check back in with you in just a little bit.
Coming up here, I'm Morongo Casino.
Speaker 1 (25:54):
Dodgers on Deck.
Speaker 8 (25:55):
DV goes one on one with Dodger catcher Will Smith,
who's got the day off. Dalton rushing to the catching
today behind the plate. Will also dive deeper into this
pitching matchup. The Dodgers go up against their former teammate,
Walker Buehler or leading up to first pitch, a rain
delayed first pitch from Fenway Park, Dodgers and Red Sox.
I'm Tim Kasis, the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 4 (26:23):
This is Morongo Casino Dodgers Hunting game on your home
for La Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 8 (26:34):
It's the Dodgers and the Red Sox. They will start
in a rain to lay a brief one as the
weather in the Northeast not cooperating today across different cities,
including Cooperstown, New York, where they are inducting the newest
members of the Baseball Hall of Fame. Even that ceremony
has been pushed back thirty minutes because of inclement weather.
It'll be Dustin May and Walker Buehler when this one
(26:55):
gets underway. First pitch coming up, we'll find out.
Speaker 2 (27:00):
Kid a ball without a hot dog?
Speaker 6 (27:03):
Who wents a hot dog?
Speaker 4 (27:05):
HiT's time for the Hawfy Magical Moment. It's Magical presented
by Hawpey Hot Tots.
Speaker 8 (27:11):
We hit the Dodgers in Boston at Finway Park. We
go back to August twenty seventh, twenty twenty three, Dodgers
taking on the Red Sox. That night, Freddie Freeman had
not won but two doubles to reach fifty.
Speaker 5 (27:26):
Rodgers up one nothing, Freddy first ball swinging, hits a
fly ball to the left, and this ball is gonna
be off the wall. Freddie in with another double, a
wall double for Freddy Freeman and a runner at second
and nobody out. And Freddy Freeman now is sits alone
as the Los Angeles ERA leader in doubles in a
(27:49):
single season with fifty and he is two away from
the Dodgers all time record of fifty two that was
set in nineteen twenty nine by Johnny Frederick.
Speaker 7 (28:01):
And we're not even all the hoay through August.
Speaker 8 (28:05):
Freddie Freeman a doubles machine, getting fifty doubles plus that
year in his career. Freddie Freeman now five hundred and
thirty five doubles that ranks him forty first all time
in Major League Baseball history, passing Luke Gerrig with five
hundred and thirty four doubles. This Hofey Magical moment brought
(28:26):
to you by Haffy hot Dogs, Haffey soak Ow's local
treasure for nearly one hundred years.
Speaker 1 (28:30):
Haffey hot Dogs Local and so great. But when we.
Speaker 8 (28:34):
Continue here on Dodgers on Deck, we'll check back in
with the Rick Monday in the booth at Fenway Park
in Boston. The game will start into delay. Dodgers in
Red Sox as a wrap up this three game series.
I'm Tim katsis the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 4 (28:53):
This is Marongo Casino. Dodgers on Deck. Hove your home
the Blue all season long.
Speaker 8 (29:03):
HiT's the Dodgers in Red Sox, Dustin May and Walker.
Speaker 1 (29:07):
Bueller the pitch he match at.
Speaker 8 (29:08):
This game will start in at LA scheduled to start
at ten thirty five, but some weather in the Boston
area the Northeast being affected by rain today as well.
Speaker 1 (29:16):
Time now for the Verizon startup.
Speaker 8 (29:18):
As we are getting close to first pitch in the
start of the game. Now at Verizon you can lock
in your low price for three years so you can
save big. Visit the Verizon store today. It's Sunday. It's
a special day. It's the return of Charlie Steiner.
Speaker 14 (29:33):
Charlie all right, Tim, It's the rubber game of the
three game series of Dodgers in the Red Sox. After
the Red Sox for two win last night, Moe watching
Clayton Kershaw at work last.
Speaker 3 (29:44):
Night, he was Clayton Kershaw.
Speaker 14 (29:46):
On the other hand, Crochet was sensational after he got
through the first inning.
Speaker 7 (29:50):
Yeah, after he got through the first inning and everybody
was on their their toes to see what was going
to happen. Earlier on We'll show hey o Tany the
leadoff hitter, the DH hit the home run, battered the
Crochet face, and then two batters later they ask Hernanez
hit the home runner. That was the good news for
this Dodger blunkle. But after that they did not have
many opportunities to even score. And one thing that has
(30:12):
kind of gone through in the first two games of
the series, Dodgers have had too many swings and misses.
Fifteen strikeouts last night. They've struck out twenty five times
over the first couple of games. If they played here
in the series, that needs to change. Change in her
and the offense needs to get back on track. Where
has it been well, it's been a good question. They
(30:33):
sent out two search parties and now they're looking for
the search parties. It's been kind of hit and miss
to be able to do things. One good thing is
is that Mookie Betts is going to return to the
starting lineup. They missed a couple of games, but arrived.
He was pinched hit her last night the last out
as he was called out looking for strike three. But
it'll be Betts. Then Otani fought about Tiascar Hernanez and
(30:55):
then Freddy Freeman, and Rushing is going to be doing
the catching in the finale here in Boston. One good
thing though, too, there's been some overcasts. There was some
rain earlier on, so it's not real hot temperature, but
the Dodgers better to get ready for some hot temperature
and humidity. Going to Cincinnati, as you mentioned, they'll be
there later tonight and then on to Tampa. And remember Tampa.
(31:19):
No longer indoors. It's outdoors and look at the weatherman.
They're saying, look, you don't need long sleeve shirts down
there either. It's hot and muggy.
Speaker 14 (31:28):
Note about Max Munsey, who is due back and not
a moment too soon. The Dodgers are hitting two sixty
two through the first of July. Since then, as a team,
they're hitting just two twenty one. They're missing him badly,
and I think far more than maybe a lot of
people thought.
Speaker 7 (31:45):
And I think is a good point too, Charlie, that
you break up because it also changes the construction of
the lineup, not just the consistency of having Munsey, who's
really in my opinion, I know you and I have
talked about it before too. He has improved immensely defensively
a third. A lot of hard work has gone into it,
but it changes the overall structure of the lineup and
not having him in there, and the Dodgers have had
(32:07):
to kind of plug in here and there. It's going
to be Tommy Edmund at third base today. It was
Miguel Rojas. There was at third base in yesterday's Bowl game.
So we'll find out what's going to be happening. But
for Dave Roberts, you know, combination not only with Mounsey
out of the lineup, but kick Hernandez. We don't know
when he's going to return. And with Hernanez it does
(32:29):
give maneuverability in that lineup that right now they don't
have that luxury to be able to pick and choose
and move later on in ball game. Maybe different personnel
in different spots.
Speaker 14 (32:39):
All right, So the rubber game of the three game series,
that Dodgers are leading the Padres by five. And you know,
the Dodgers, if they win today, they're in pretty good
shape a happy flight to Cincinnati. If they don't and
somehow San Diego wins, the lead is only for So
this race is far from a O.
Speaker 7 (32:58):
Yeah it is. And with the next few days, which
teams are going to be buying or adding players from,
you know, making deals that trade deadline, the clock keeps
sticking and ticking louder and louder. The Dodgers, well, I
don't imagined like every other ball club, they've had feelers
out there in which areas would they try and improve upon.
(33:19):
If they're even thinking about trying to improve, we're going
to be finding out. It's going to be exciting. In
the meantime, no one can be standing in place and
waiting for somebody to come through that doorway and say, Aha,
now we're going to be fine. Dodgers have to worry
about that later on. Win games today, win games tomorrow,
and we'll wind up in the first place in the
Western Division.
Speaker 14 (33:38):
Dustin May and Walker Buehler the starting pitchers on this
Sunday afternoon, coming up next.
Speaker 1 (33:44):
Tim all right, thank you, Charlie.
Speaker 8 (33:46):
Great to hear your voice as we lead you up
to first pitch. Dodgers and the Red Sox. Dodgers game
plan brought to you by the California Community College. Is

(34:08):
rain del a first pitch schedule for ten thirty five
am Pacific one thirty five pm Eastern Standard time at
Fenway Park, but with rain in the northeast today playing
Haffock with the Cooperstown Induction ceremonies for the Baseball Hall
of Fame as well. That's been pushed back thirty minutes.
This game will be delayed as well. Dodgers and Red Sox.
But up next, we go High and Tight with Will Smith.
(34:30):
I'm Tim Kass, the world champion in Los Angeles Dodgers
Audio Network.
Speaker 14 (34:38):
As we were saying.
Speaker 4 (34:39):
Yes, is Marongo Casino Dodgers on tack on the official
home of La Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 8 (34:48):
It's Dodgers and the Boston Red Sox from Fenway Bar.
First pitch was scheduled for ten thirty five, but we'll
not start on time. It will start in a rain
delay because of weather in the area. Dodgers Baseball is
brought to you by Shaky's Pizza Parlor, the official pizza
partner of the Dodgers Audio broadcast. When it's game day,
it's group day, and Shakey's dot Com still decom We'll
get to those keys of the game. We'll get an
(35:10):
update from Fenway Park.
Speaker 4 (35:11):
But first and now, what will likely be vast a
fielding insults from a Dodger player.
Speaker 1 (35:18):
It's an engagement of endearment.
Speaker 4 (35:19):
This is high and Tight.
Speaker 6 (35:22):
We're at Fenway Park, the Dodgers getting ready for the
finale of the three game series, and I'm joined right
now by Dodger All Star catcher Will Smith one of
those days off. Thanks for the time, Will, I know
you're thrilled to be here with me.
Speaker 3 (35:34):
Yeah, very thrilled. Thanks for having me.
Speaker 6 (35:36):
Yeah, hey, Will, you've obviously caught the first two games.
You've been here before. Have you ever gone inside the
Green Monster to sign the inside of the wall?
Speaker 3 (35:45):
Uh?
Speaker 12 (35:45):
Yeah, I think it went last time, and then came
here when I was playing, you know, in the Cape
Cod Baseball League, they did like a workout here, got
to see the Monster and stuff. So yeah, I been
here a couple of times.
Speaker 6 (35:55):
Do you feel the nostalgia of this stadium? I know
you play at Dodger Stadium, but this is one of
the oldest ballparks in Major League Baseball?
Speaker 3 (36:03):
Yeah, yeah, for sure. I grew up a Red Sox fan.
Speaker 12 (36:06):
Actually have some family up in this area and stuff,
so I grew up watching the Red Sox, so yeah,
to me, you know, Finway is just you know, one
of the historical parks up there with you know, it's
Wrigley and Finway's two oldest parks. So it's really cool
to play here. You know, great crowds, it's fun to
play at. So yeah, coming here once a year is
really cool.
Speaker 6 (36:25):
As a fan, it's great. But as a hitter, do
you like hitting in this ballpark?
Speaker 12 (36:30):
I mean yeah, but I've had a couple of extra
base hits taken away the first two days, so I
don't know.
Speaker 3 (36:34):
I'm a little mixed feelings right now.
Speaker 6 (36:36):
Hey, well, we always think about the outfielders and how
to play the green Monster and just the weird outfield here.
Like you mentioned, there are extra base hits that you've
been limited to singles. How do you play it as
a runner?
Speaker 12 (36:49):
Yeah, you just got to stressed your eyes. You know,
it's obviously messed it up. Yesterday I tried to get
the seconds out by a little bit, but I wasn't
gonna bring that up. Will Yeah, No, trust your eyes.
You know, when you're when you're on the basis, you
know you see a fly ball to left and you
know usually you're waiting for the guy to probably catch it.
You just gotta trust your eyes and you know, just
keep running. That's probably gonna take it. You know, get
(37:10):
off the wall or whatever. You know, trust the base coaches.
But yeah, it's different. But uh, you know, it's it's
not it's not too big of a thing to to
worry about.
Speaker 6 (37:19):
You hear hitters say that you can't try to hit
it over the green monster. Can it be dangerous to
try to see that thing there and how close it
is to you?
Speaker 3 (37:29):
Uh?
Speaker 12 (37:29):
Yeah, possibly, you know it's you know, that's that's just
really your approach coming against pitchers, trying to pull the
ball or not if it's good or not. So yeah,
just making sure you're sticking to your approach is probably
more important.
Speaker 6 (37:41):
Is today what Dave Roberts call a spa day? Do
you just completely realize you're not going to be used
even as a pinch hitter, or do.
Speaker 3 (37:49):
You have to be a little bit engaged? No, I'm
always always ready to go.
Speaker 12 (37:53):
Uh you know, I you know, you get a pretty
much sense of how the game is going the first
couple winnings. You know, I'm always hoping we get out
to a big lead, ten nothing or something so I
can kind of shut it down and just enjoy the day.
But yeah, no, I'm always ready to go.
Speaker 6 (38:06):
Where was there a part of you that wished you
were playing today with Walker Buehler on the mound?
Speaker 3 (38:11):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (38:11):
For sure.
Speaker 12 (38:12):
That had been fun to face him, you know, get
a couple of hits and you know hold that over him.
Speaker 6 (38:17):
Was it strange seeing him and what was it like
being part of presenting him with the ring?
Speaker 3 (38:22):
Yeah, it's cool.
Speaker 12 (38:22):
It was cool give him the ring or the first
day we got here. You know, it brings back all
the good memories. You know, he got the last out,
so you know, you remember all that stuff. But yeah,
it was just good to see him. Yeah, looking forward
to facing the day and you know, talking some craft
from the bench.
Speaker 3 (38:38):
Yeah, I like that.
Speaker 1 (38:39):
I like that.
Speaker 6 (38:40):
Your manager, Dave Roberts said, you guys tried to get
him to throw his curveball more so, he said, I
bet he's gonna try to throw his curve more today
to show you that he's throwing it.
Speaker 12 (38:49):
Well, that's good if you said that, he's tipping his hands,
so we'll see.
Speaker 6 (38:52):
All right, Thanks a lot for the time.
Speaker 1 (38:54):
I appreciate it, and you deserve this. Well.
Speaker 3 (38:57):
Rest today.
Speaker 6 (38:58):
Sunday's a day of rest.
Speaker 3 (38:59):
Will Yeah, thank you. There he goes.
Speaker 6 (39:02):

Speaker 8 (39:21):
Great to hear from Will Smith the day. Offer him
at least to start today. We'll see if he gets
in there later as a pinch hitter. As we leave,
jump to first pitch Dodgers in Red Sox. The game
will start in a delay. Shouldn't be a lengthy one,
but got some rain in the Northeast. Make its way
through Boston and this game will not start on time.
But when we come back, we'll break down this pitching matchup.

his first time ever facing the Dodgers and all of
his former teammates.
Speaker 1 (41:21):
Dustin May on the mound for the Blue.
Speaker 8 (41:24):
The twenty seven year old right hander battled through injuries

Speaker 1 (42:30):
Dustin May and Walker Bueler. The pitching match up.
Speaker 8 (42:33):
First pitch was scheduled for ten thirty five am Pacific
one thirty five pm Eastern Standard time. But as we've
been mentioning, rain in the Boston area blowing through the
tarp has been on the field. Good news is we've
just gotten word from Dwayne McDonald from the booth that
first pitch has been scheduled now for eleven fifteen am
(42:55):
Pacific two fifteen Eastern Standard time. So again about a
forty minute delay when it's all said and done because
of the rain. Again, first pitch schedule now for eleven
to fifteen am Pacific two fifteen Eastern Standard time. Dodgers
sixty one and forty four going into play. They lead
the Padres by five games. Going into action today, they're
(43:16):
a half game back of both the Brewers and the
Cubs for the best record in the National League. And
in case you missed it earlier, the Dodgers that we've
been talking about are getting healthy at the right time,
and that includes Blake Trinon, who was activated off the
sixty day IL today where they recalled Justin Robleski an option,
Will klin In and Gardo Enriquez back to the minor
leagues for Blake Trinon. The thirty seven year old right
(43:39):
hander has been out since mid April with right forearm tightness.
Speaker 1 (43:43):
He was zeroing two of the three thirty.
Speaker 8 (43:44):
Eight and two saves in eight appearances before the injury,
so been out since mid April. Here he is late
July making his return. Blake Trinon to this Dodgers' bullpen.
Speaker 1 (43:56):
When we come back, we'll get you out to Boston
the booth. We get ready for first pitch.
Speaker 8 (44:02):
That's scheduled now for eleven to fifteen Pacific two fifteen
pm Eastern. That's coming up from Fenway Park, Dodgers Red Sox.
