Speaker 5 (00:41):
Tim kays Hi, everybody, and good afternoon. Welcome in to
Morongo Casino Dodgers on Deck on this Monday, July seventh,
twenty twenty five, as your world champion Los Angeles Dodgers
hit the road for the final road trip before the
All Star Break. The Dodgers sit at fifty six and
(01:01):
thirty five on this season. They have dropped three in
a row, but they still have a seven game lead
in the NLS over both the Padres and the Giants.
The Dodgers after a five hundred road homestand now hit
the road for three in Milwaukee and three in San Francisco.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound in this series opener from Milwaukee.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
First pitch coming up at four forty.
Speaker 5 (01:25):
Between then and now, we got a lot to get
to here on Marongo Casino, Dodgers on deck. You are
gonna hear from Dodger infielder outfielder Tommy Edmund. We'll hear
from the manager, Dave Roberts, will dive deep into this
pitching matchup. We got your Dodgers magical moment. Some roster
moves today with Keike Hernandez going to the injured list.
(01:45):
We'll get you to the latest injury news coming up.
Kirsten Watson from Sports and at LA will stop by.
Of course, DV checks in throughout the show, and in
just a few minutes we head out to Tim Nevertt
and Rick Monday and the Gallpin Motors Broadcast booth. Well,
yesterday at the review, the Dodgers were on the precipice
of getting swept by the Houston Astros.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
That's exactly what happened.
Speaker 5 (02:07):
Not a lot of offense on Friday night and an
eighteen to one loss to Houston, then a six to
four loss on Saturday. Dodgers trying to avoid the sweep
when they ran into Ryan Gusto, who went six innings
and pitched really well. The Dodgers sent out image She
into the mound, went five innings, just one run on
five hits while striking out four. Image She and got
some great defense behind him. It's on Kim in the
(02:29):
first got it going.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
Head start for the runners with two out, the payoff
pitch Walker with a base hit up the middle. No
stopped at second, throwing across his body. Wall on a play.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
Best song.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
Kim going to his right nearly straight up with the
bag at second base throws out Walker throwing across his body,
and that saved a run. It looked like it had
base hit center field written all over it.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
Instead, It's out number three and a scoreless top of
the first.
Speaker 5 (03:02):
Huge defensive playing from Ian Kim there. In the top
half of the first inning, runners on first and second
robs Christian Walker, but base it up the middle to
keep the Astros off the scoreboard. In the bottom of
this second the Dodgers are able to get on the board.
First runner on third two out for Dalton rushing.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
Gus So and it's two two rushing slash it in
the air left field, hit pretty well, hubble Hold on
warning track, it's over his head, off the base of
the wall and the gate to the Dodger bullpen. It's
a two out RBI double for Dulton.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
Rushing and the Dodgers strike first.
Speaker 5 (03:38):
Dodgers on the board thanks to Dalton rushings RBI double.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
That didn't last long though.
Speaker 5 (03:43):
In the top half of the third inning, Jose Altuve
as Sackfly with one out in the third scores Short
and then we were tied at one. Im and she
and went the five innings, turned it over to the bullpen.
Will climb into six retired the first two batters he faced.
The four eight Astros got on base, including a bases
loaded walk to Zach Short. That game, the Astros a
(04:06):
two to one lead. In the eighth, the wheels fell
off for Tanner Scott Christian Walker a leadoff home run.
Yan Air Diaz then follow that up with back to
back home runs a four to one Astros lead. The
Cherry on top hose all two Vas home run in
the ninth inning and off Anthony Banda and the Astros
come into Dodgers Stadium and finish off a three game
(04:28):
sweep yesterday with a five to one win.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
Ryan Gusto gets the win.
Speaker 5 (04:33):
Will Klein against the lost Dodgers drop all three to
the Astros. However, they still maintain a seven game leading
the division, and now they hit the road for the
final week before the All Star Break. First up Milwaukee
in a three game series against the Brewers. First Bitch
coming up at four forty with more. We head out
to the Gallpin Motors broadcast booth as we say hello
to Tim Neverertt and Rick Monday.
Speaker 6 (04:54):
Guys, Tim, thanks very much. We're looking at a beautiful
night here in Milwaukee, the roof Open American Family Field
and a really good pitching matchup tonight between Freddie Peralta,
who is nine and four and a two nine one ERA,
one of the better eras in the National League, going
against Yoshinobu Yamamoto, an All Star for the first time.
(05:14):
Yamamoto is eight and six with a two five one
ERA that's the third best ERA in the National League,
and the Dodgers starting first place fifty six and thirty five.
The Brewers meantime ten above five hundred and fifty and
forty at the start of an important road trip, especially
with what happened over the last three days at Dodger
Stadium all.
Speaker 7 (05:34):
Well, in the last three days that's coming going. The
Dodgers now have to figure out how they're going to
get the offense going. On top of it, Emmittchen started
yesterday as he returned to the Dodger Barklup did a
good job with five innings, one run on five hits,
only walk one batter on top of it, but if
you look at that three game series, they were seriously outscored.
(05:54):
They were out hit fact, for, the Astros had nine
home runs, the Dodgers had only three, and the Dodgers
had a sixteen at bats in the three game series
with runners in scoring position, while they allowed the Astros
to have thirty four opportunities to knock into runs. This
has got to change, and it come against the ball
club now. If you look at the Brewers' second place
nationally Central, but they've won six of the last ten
(06:16):
and thirteen of their last twenty games have been in
the win column.
Speaker 6 (06:20):
A couple of roster moves today for the Dodgers, keyk
Hernandez has been placed on the injured list with a
sore elbow. James Outman is back with the Dodgers. He's
in the starting lineup tonight in center field, and also
Justin Robleski has been optioned to Triple A largely due
to the schedule with the All Star Break coming up,
(06:40):
and he's not going to be available for a few
days anyway, so it'll be Julian Fernandez who in Fernandez
comes up from Triple A Oklahoma City to take a
spot in the bullpen for the Dodgers. But for Outman
coming back, that's a big opportunity for him.
Speaker 7 (06:54):
It is, and no question about it. There's two names
also missing in this starting lineup, and that being Tommy
Edmonds and ti Oscar Hernandez, who did not play in
yesterday's finale the home stand at Dodger Steadium, so missing
their bats on top of it, talked about the Brewers.
They've been winning, Dodgers have won fourteen to the last twenty,
but trying to get off that three game losing streak
(07:16):
and get back into the winning margin.
Speaker 6 (07:18):
Dave Roberts telling us a little while ago that both
Teoscar Hernandez and Tommy edmund possibly could be available off
the bench in this game tonight if needed for sure.
So the Dodgers have lost three straight. They've only lost
four straight one time this year. That was May sixteenth
through the nineteenth when they were swept by the Angels
at Dodgers Stadium and then lost the next game to Arizona.
(07:40):
But after that tore off a number of wins in
a short period of time following that. So they're hoping
to start another win streak here tonight against the Brewers.
The Brewers a team that is still battling in the
Central Division, chasing the Chicago Cubs. It's turned out to
be not a bad race in the National League Central.
Speaker 7 (07:59):
No one thing that Dodgers need to look at as
far as the Brewer's going. They are not afraid to
put runners in motion. In particular, you know, they have
attempted to steal third base sixteen different times already this season.
They'll pick them up and lay them down. You have
to pay attention to them.
Speaker 6 (08:15):
So all the Dodgers and the Milwaukee Brewer is coming
up from American Family Field here not too far from
downtown Milwaukee. The roof will be open on a really
pleasant early July evening in Wisconsin.
Speaker 5 (08:29):
Timp all right, thank you guys, as we count you
down to first pitch. Dodger fans, get your game day
meal on at Shaky's Pizza Parlor or your Shaky's Pizza
Shakin and moojos at Shakys dot com. Coming up here
on Dodgers on Neck, you're gonna hear from the manager,
Dave Roberts, David Vatsago's one on one with Tommy Edmund.
We'll got deeper into this pitching matchup with Yoshinobu. Ya'm
(08:50):
a moto going for the Dodgers.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
What up next?
Speaker 5 (08:52):
You're o Tommy Rewind and we'll visit with sports and
at LA's Preston Watson. That's all coming up as we
lead you up to Dodgers and Brewers on this Monday
afternoon from Milwaukee. I'm Tim Kakeson. This is the world
champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 4 (09:11):
Well, this is Morongo Casino Dodgers Hunting game on your
home for LA Dodgers Baseball Hits.
Speaker 5 (09:19):
The Dodgers and the Brewers from Milwaukee start up at
three games set on this Monday afternoon Yoshinobu Yamamoto on
the mount first pitch coming up at four forty.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
This is the Otani reewy Well show.
Speaker 5 (09:32):
Hey Otani yesterday, Oh for four at the plates with
a strikeout. Dodgers had one run on seven hits yesterday
against the Houston Astros. In the series against Houston show,
Hey Otani at the plate one for eleven with a
couple of strikeouts and no extra base hits. Dodgers yesterday
(09:55):
fell to the Astros and they get swept in a
five to one loss.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
This is Kirston's Corner with Kirston Watson.
Speaker 5 (10:03):
Hey Kirston now joins us from Milwaukee. Brought you by
Cars for Kids. Ready to donate that old car? Call
eight seven seven Cars for Kids right now, friendly agents
Dandy Biden to take your donation. That's cars with the
key to donate your car today. A lot to get into.
But first and foremost, anytime a team goes to Milwaukee,
that means the Haunted Hotel. Have you seen any ghos?
Speaker 8 (10:25):
Kirston's So, I'll be honest. This year I've been in
the clear. Last time I was here, I did see
a flicker of the lights. But let me tell you
some of the guys. They got Ben Casparius really good.
So let me just kind of set the scene as
you walk into the hotel as the team. You know,
everyone will pick up their hotel keys, but everyone's keys
are laid out, so will Kirby as well as Tommy Edmund.
(10:47):
They just happened to sneak Ben's key out of his
little folder and they went up to his room and
they were hiding in there. So then when Ben got
up to his room, he tried to get in open,
realized there wasn't a key in his things. He goes
back downstairs like anyone would do. Oh my key's not working.
Oh my key wasn't in here. You know, a lot
of keys coming through. They give him a new key.
He goes upstairs to go into his room, and he
(11:09):
said he walked in and the lights flickered and he
was like, that's a little strange, but you know, it's fine.
You know, I just got here. It's fine. Then I
guess a water bottle rolled out underneath. And so then
he's like, oh, oh, here we go. Next thing, you know,
he walks in and the guys jumped out, scared him
to death. He said he was like shaking up for
at least another thirty minutes. And I did not realize
(11:33):
that we had these pranksters on the team. And I
have found out that creates prankster. He's gotten in the
past Austin Barnes before really good at a different hotel
on a road trip. So yeah, so he said he's
a little shaken up, not a real ghost, and the
manager to confirm that there are no real ghosts, but
that's still up to debate.
Speaker 1 (11:53):
But yeah, I got him good.
Speaker 6 (11:56):
That is great.
Speaker 5 (11:57):
Hope that that does not mean an il stent for
bigspair because he got scared so bad because the Dodgers
little activity with the roster.
Speaker 9 (12:04):
Today, Yeah, a little activity.
Speaker 8 (12:06):
So when we before we left Los Angeles yesterday, Dave
Roberts did give some updates just whether it was Tommy
Edmund who's dealing with that hairline fracture and his pinky toe.
Then you've got Tascar Hernandez who is dealing with a
bruise on his foot from taking a foul ball off
of it. But Keik Hernandez he brought up last night
before leaving, and he was saying that he's been dealing
with a little bit of elbow sowordness, almost like an
(12:28):
elbow tendonitis on his left arm. Though when it was
something that's really more bothering him offensively, they tried to
do a cortzone shot, didn't really take, and it's something
that he didn't really bring to the attention to the
organization until a few days ago. Because of course, like
most of these guys, they want to be out there,
they want to be available, especially if there is limited
playing time like for someone like Keike, so of course
(12:51):
was trying to fight it, but ultimately him the coaches
they just decided right now for him to go on
the IL, especially because he's not really available off the bed,
especially if it's hurting him swinging, So it just made
more sense. So James Outman is with the club. He
has been lights out with Triple A recently, so the
hope is he can continue just to lean into that
confidence offensively and so to gives some more run support
(13:13):
in different situations.
Speaker 9 (13:15):
But for Kik, they are going to.
Speaker 8 (13:17):
Keep an eye on him, but at this moment, he
has him placed on the IL until it does allow
for one just extra time with the All Star break,
but just some time for him to reset and heal
that left elbows and he's dealing with some inflammation.
Speaker 5 (13:28):
A speedy recovery for Key K Kurrist, and we appreciate it.
We'll check in with you after the game.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
Still to come.
Speaker 5 (13:33):
Here on Wronggo Casino Dodgers on Deck, we'll hear from
Tommy Edmund nursing a fractured right pinky toe. We'll get
you more of an injury update well, here from the
manager Dave Roberts as well.
Speaker 1 (13:43):
When we returned.
Speaker 5 (13:44):
Leading you up to Dodgers and the Brewers from Milwaukee
first pitching four forty. I'm Tim Kas's the world champion
Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 4 (13:55):
This is MA Wrongo Casino Dodgers on Deck on your
home for the Blue All Season log.
Speaker 5 (14:05):
It's the Dodgers and the Brewers from Milwaukee. As Moronco
Casino Dodgers on Deck continues, lean you have to first
pitch Moronco Casino Resort and SPA a grand slam for
good times. Yoshinobu, ya'm a mooto on the mound, first
pitch at four forty.
Speaker 2 (14:20):
He's the LA Dodgers.
Speaker 5 (14:22):
Injury Report presented by UCLA Healthy, Official medical partner of
the Los Angeles Dodgers. The key k Hernandez goes on
the injured list with a sore left elbow inflammation in
that left elbow, not the throwing arm, okay for those
of you wondering, not because he's pitched in five games
this year. It's his left elbow and affected him and
his swing. So he goes on the ten day IL.
(14:44):
James Autman called up from Triple A Oklahoma City and
he is in the starting lineup today in center field.
Max Munsey on the IL with the left knee bone bruise.
Tyler Glass now good news il shoulder inflammation. It is
trending like he could get the start on Wednesday and Milwaukee.
We'll find out more coming up. Blake Snell's training in
(15:04):
the right direction, Blake trying.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
It as well.
Speaker 5 (15:06):
So some good, some bad as far as the injury
news for the Dodgers. Let's head back out to Milwaukee
and checking with the Dodger skipper A.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
Questions for Dave, Dave, can you just describe Dave?
Speaker 1 (15:18):
Can you talk about the pressure.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
In the dugouts with Dave Robberts.
Speaker 10 (15:24):
Well, I think that it sort of came to a head. Well,
I mean I think it originally in Cleveland. There was
a slide there in Cleveland at home Plate where it
really started to act up and bother them, and at
that point in time, he kept it to himself, you know,
just wanted to want to be out there compete, and
(15:46):
it just continually got worse and really impacted his offense
and the swing, and so just a couple of days
ago it just really reached ahead where it was pretty
much intolerable. And so you know, he's a guy that
just doesn't want to go on the il and pride
himself on being available, and so, you know, it was
(16:08):
a tough decision, but kind of from the doctor's training
staff took a shot a court his own shot. You know,
we'll make sure we keep getting imaging and then you know,
the plan is that he'll be ready to go, hopefully
shortly after.
Speaker 8 (16:25):
The All Star break with Taioscar. I know you had
mentioned just the foot injury. Do you still feel just
kind of comfortable with him being available off the bench
in situations as needed?
Speaker 10 (16:34):
I do. I do. I think that it's something that
was a contusion. He's moving around better today and so
to see him available today off the bench is something feasible.
Speaker 8 (16:48):
Yeah, yesterday when you talked about the offense against the Astros,
you had mentioned just the pitching that they were throwing
out there and how challenging that was. You know, have
a series with some more strong pitching. What are you
hoping to see just from the quality of that bats
from your team to kind of get back on track.
Speaker 9 (17:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (17:04):
So you know this guy, Freddy Frault, we've seen for
years and very underrated pitch, your former All Star. It's
a good fastball. He uses this different speeds of this fastball.
There's a good breaking ball in there. And this young kid,
we're gonna see it tomorrow. I haven't seen him, but
(17:24):
heard his stuff's electric. I just think for me, it's
just just want the quality of it bad to be
a little bit better than it was over this past weekend.
Speaker 1 (17:34):
All right, there's the manager, Dave Roberts.
Speaker 5 (17:36):
You have Freddy Peralta, a veteran they've seen for a
long time with the Brewers. Tomorrow the miz Jacob Mizerowski,
the young rookie on the mound against Clayton Kershop. But
first things, first Game one of this series coming up
when we return here on Wrongo Causino Dodgers on deck.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
We'll check in with the David Van Say.
Speaker 5 (17:51):
As we lead you up to first bitch Dodgers and
Brewers on this Monday afternoon.
Speaker 1 (17:56):
I'm Tim Kaise is the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers audio.
Speaker 4 (17:59):
Know as we were saying, this is Marongo Casino Dodgers
on tack on the official home of La Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 5 (18:13):
He's the Dodgers and the Brewers, Dodgers' final road trip
before the All Star Break. Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound.
Freddy Peralta will go for the Brewers first pitch, coming.
Speaker 1 (18:22):
Up at four forty.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
Joining Tim kats on Dodgers on Deck.
Speaker 11 (18:27):
I accept everybody for who they are.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
This is Dodger insider David Basse.
Speaker 5 (18:33):
Ah those who missed it yesterday right here on Dodgers
on Deck, we were talking about All Star reserves and pitchers,
and David Vasse said it wouldn't be kind of nice
if Rob Manford brought Clayton Kershaw to the All Star
Game in Atlanta, and lo and behold. A few hours later,
Rob Manford picked him as a legendary pick for the
All Star Game. Now David, how is he feeling about this?
(18:54):
We could we maybe actually see Clayton pitch in Atlanta.
Speaker 11 (18:58):
Yeah, right now, it seems like he will because when
I talked to him about three days ago, he was
trying to figure out when he may pitch before the
All Star break and then after the All Star break
after tomorrow's start, and he wasn't anticipating getting this legend
pick by Rob Manfred. That only came about yesterday when
(19:19):
Dave Roberts surprised him with that team meeting where he
announced Yamamoto and Kershaw. Kershaw had no idea this was coming.
So if Yamamoto is going to start on Sunday in
San Francisco, that means Yamamoto will not start during the
All Star break, and that'll give him a pretty good
chunk of time to recalibrate, get some rest about ten
(19:41):
days before his next start in the second half, which
means Kershaw will be lined up to be able to
pitch an inning in that All Star Game. I'm sure
he'll treat it like a bullpen session. So yeah, this
is not something that he expected. But going back to
what we talked about yesterday, this is not on precedented
Albert Poolhols and Miguel Carbrera were named legacy picks in
(20:05):
twenty twenty two after they made it public that it
was going to be their final seasons in Major League Baseball.
That's the biggest difference between them and Kershaw. Kershaw has
not made any sort of announcement that this is his
last season, So Rob Manfred just took it upon himself
just in case.
Speaker 5 (20:23):
David has brought to you by the twenty twenty five
to four f one to fifty from California's best selling
truck brand. It's time to see forded in a new light.
Ford for America from America. More on the All Star Game,
David andy Pott has not selected as a reserve for
the National League.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
There's a logjam there in the outfield.
Speaker 5 (20:38):
But what are the chances do you think he still
makes it to Atlanta.
Speaker 11 (20:42):
I think there's a chance if somebody gets hurt and
maybe Corbyn Carroll, who's been dealing with the wrist injury,
decides that he's happy enough with being selected to the
All Star team. But you're not going to carry more
than six or seven outfielders for an exhibition game. That's
just not going to happen, especially when you have the
(21:02):
starters that fans voted for. They want to see in
there for more than just an inning. And what complicated
all this for Andy pie has is the fact that
the players and coaches didn't vote Juan Soto either to
the team. So I don't know what that's about. But
Wan Soto has turned it on and he's one of
the best players in the game, but wasn't voted not
(21:24):
only by the fans but also his peers. So that's
what complicates the numbers crunch, the roster crunch for those
that are replacing guys and trying to pick others real quick.
Speaker 5 (21:36):
Dave Tyler Glass, Now, what's the latest on him returning
on this road trip.
Speaker 11 (21:41):
Yeah, it's coming on Wednesday, the day after tomorrow, and
that should be advantageous to him.
Speaker 9 (21:46):
It's a day game.
Speaker 11 (21:47):
And look, I've talked to guys on the team, tim. Look,
they said that when Glass nail's on the mound, nobody
has better stuff. The only challenge has been the last
couple of years is to get Glass now on the mound.
But he'll be there on Wednesday, And don't remember this time.
Don't forget it this time. Last year he was named
to his first All Star team. So that's how good
(22:09):
he can be if he can stay healthy.
Speaker 1 (22:12):
David, great stuff. We'll check back in with you in
just a couple of minutes.
Speaker 5 (22:14):
TV is gonna go one on one with Tommy Edmund
that's coming up in fifteen minutes Dodger fans, so don't
go anywhere. Up next, Oh You're Dodgers Magical moment on

On Dodgers on Deck, we'll check back you out Rick
Monday for lead you up to first pitch for Milwaukee
Dodgers and the Brewers.
Speaker 1 (24:38):
I'm Tim Katson. This is the World champion Los Angeles
Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 4 (24:44):
This is Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck on your home
for the Blue All Season.
Speaker 5 (24:52):
Logaw It's the Dodgers and the Milwaukee Brewers on this
Monday afternoon. Yoshinobo, ya'ma moto name to the National League
All Star Team taking on Freddie Parolta. Time now for
the Verizon startup, as we are a little bit more
than thirty minutes away from the start of the game
in Milwaukee. Now at Verizon you can lock in your

low price for three years so you can save beg
visit the Verizon store today.
Speaker 4 (25:21):
And now joined by David Basse, here's La Dodgers broadcaster
and World Series champion Dodger Rick Monday.
Speaker 11 (25:30):
Well, obviously Rick Monday has a lot more experience in
wisdom than I ever had, and I just want to
import in part and maybe turn the tables around.
Speaker 2 (25:40):
Rick.
Speaker 11 (25:40):
I just want to give you a piece of advice.
Don't go down that slide in left field.
Speaker 7 (25:45):
Well, hey, it comes from the expert, does it not.
In fact, I'm looking at it right now, just off
the foul line, down the left field line here in Milwaukee,
an American family field. And my understand is too, David,
that they had put some type of a new coating
on the slide to where ay, it's not as fast
(26:07):
coming down as it was, because when you came down,
quite frankly, it was like grease lightning. And I understand
that they've also padded the bottom the landing area much
much better, so that would be safe. But you're absolutely right,
there is a miniature slide, is there not? Outside in
a children's area here at the stadium.
Speaker 9 (26:25):
That's right.
Speaker 11 (26:26):
The year after I broke my wrist and ribs, returned
and went down the kids slide because that's all I'm
allowed to do now.
Speaker 7 (26:33):
Yeah, but I will say this, you did answer the
bell because you went to the hospital. You had your
hand put in the cast. They told you you had
broken ribs, which I really can't do anything for. You
said good luck and you're going to be in some discomfort,
But you came back and actually did the game that day.
You came back to the ballpark that day. Most human
beings would have gone immediately back to the hotel, gone
(26:56):
to the room, gun under the covers, and whimpered the
rest of the night.
Speaker 9 (27:00):
I did that after the game, avoided the rush.
Speaker 11 (27:05):
Well, we've been to Milwaukee a lot together, Rick, and
the Brewers and Dodgers have seen each other quite often
in the postseason since twenty eighteen. This is another good
Brewers team. They found another way, it is.
Speaker 7 (27:18):
And they took two out of three against the Marlins
over the weekend. Not not a gigantic deal. And he said, well,
he took two out of three over the Marlins. However,
for the Brewers, they have lost only one of their
last seven series, and in that time they've gone fourteen
and seven. And let's be honest, the Dodgers played very,
very poorly in the three game set against the Houston Ashhrows.
(27:39):
We cannot understate that yesterday about the only good news
was a couple of base hits here and there. There
were some very good defensive plays made by the Dodgers
in their ball game, and two of them has on
Kim they were outstanding players, and other one was made
by Miguel Rojas at third base. But other than some
defense it was played, that was not a good series
(28:00):
by any stretching imagination. The Dodgers need to get back
up on the horse and right off into the sunset
with a much better outing.
Speaker 11 (28:08):
And the Dodgers are banged up coming into this series
and the last week before the All Star break. Not
only is Max Munsey on the IL, but then today
Keiky Hernandez finds himself on the IL as well.
Speaker 7 (28:21):
Yeah, we had gotten some word yesterday that there might
be some changes in the roster that did not happen,
but it has happened now and for a KK with
a shoulder issue. In fact, it was sent out the
lineup a little bit earlier today. And it was a
little surprising, is if James Altman, who was not with
the ball club yesterday, we see that he is in
the lineup. He's playing in center field hill that ninth.
(28:43):
But we were one corresponding mood. We had not really
heard about it until we got to the ballpark earlier today. So, yeah,
there's a lot of flux right now with us Dodger
ball club. And I go back to what we talked
about before yesterday briefly, If we look back a season ago,
when Monsey went on the injured list with the rib injury,
he was out for eighty games. Dodgers are hoping it's
(29:06):
not going to be that long period of time this year.
Speaker 9 (29:08):
But in his.
Speaker 7 (29:09):
Absence in those eighty games last year, the supporting cast
of Kick Hernandez, Chris Taylor, Miguel Rojas, and Kevin Biggio
also filled into third base. Collectively, they hit just twoh
six and they need better production. Since Muncie is missing,
They're gonna need some better production offensively.
Speaker 11 (29:28):
We'll see how the Dodgers fare in this series. They
are facing another really good team that is playing really well.
Speaker 7 (29:34):
Yeah, what is nice too? David very quickly for let
you go. Two all star pitchers going against one another tonight.
Should be interesting.
Speaker 11 (29:41):
Should be Yamamoto against Freddy Perrault. Tim, we'll send it
back to you in the studio.
Speaker 5 (29:46):

Speaker 1 (31:40):
It's an engagement of endearment.
Speaker 2 (31:41):
This is high end tight.
Speaker 11 (31:44):
Well, Tommy, Edmund's a Swiss army knife. He's been able
to play a lot of different positions in his career
and now is starting to get familiar with third base again. Tommy,
thanks a lot for the time, appreciate it.
Speaker 9 (31:55):
Yeah, of course.
Speaker 11 (31:56):
Any time have you in the hot corner reintroduced yourselves
to each other?
Speaker 9 (32:00):
Yeah, I just got a few ground balls today.
Speaker 12 (32:02):
It did some drill work over there, and you know,
just trying to get my feet under me and get
a bunch of reps in.
Speaker 11 (32:07):
What's the biggest adjustment to play that position compared to
playing up the middle.
Speaker 9 (32:12):
I think just the speed that balls gets you at.
Speaker 12 (32:14):
You get different hops, more kind of top spinners and
one and two hoppers, So just getting familiar with the
types of ground balls that you're gonna get over there.
Speaker 11 (32:22):
I checked out how many times you played there? You
played there the last time in twenty two. How comfortable
were you there?
Speaker 6 (32:28):
Yeah?
Speaker 12 (32:28):
I played there a bunch, especially in my first few
years after getting called up, So it's it's a position
I'm familiar with play there in the miners as well,
so it's not like I'm learning a brand new position.
Speaker 11 (32:39):
You're being forced to play there because of the unfortunate
injury to Max Muncy. How tough was it to see
him go down like that?
Speaker 12 (32:46):
Yeah, you know it stinks, you know, to see a
guy go down like that and grab his knee, mind
immediately goes to the worst, and you know, we're very fortunate,
he's very fortunate that it ended up not being as
bad as it could have been. So, you know, it's
it's stinks because he's a great hitter, unbelievable player, but
we're we're glad that we're gonna be able to get
him back this year.
Speaker 11 (33:07):
Lucky to have Tommy Edman to play multiple positions. That
must mean your right ankle's feeling really good if you
can move around all these different positions.
Speaker 9 (33:14):
Yeah, it's been feeling good.
Speaker 12 (33:15):
You know. I think that's that's kind of something that
I've done a lot in the past, and I take
pride in is being able to fill whatever role on
the field.
Speaker 11 (33:23):
Tommy Edman is our guest, a great man. NLCS MVP
Clayton Kruz shows three thousand strikeout the same night months
he went down. What was it like for you to
see a moment like that, considering a guy that you
faced a lot in your career and now our teammates with.
Speaker 12 (33:37):
Yeah, it was incredible, you know, a really special moment.
We had a great crowd he celebrate and his family
to celebrate as well, and you know, we're us as
a team. We were just so excited for him, and
you know, he's he's such an amazing teammate, been an
incredible baseball player for a long time, and you know,
it's just a crazy accomplishment that very few.
Speaker 9 (33:57):
People have been able to get to.
Speaker 11 (33:58):
How do you think skips you makers feeling these days
because all of a sudden, now he's back trending as
he was Kershaw's first strikeout. Do you feel like he's
embracing all this or do you feel like he wants
to block it out?
Speaker 12 (34:10):
Yeah, I would imagine he's probably trying to block it out.
I know him and Kursh have a great relationship though,
so it is it is kind of funny that that
ended up being his first strikeout. But yeah, he's a
He was a great coach for us in Saint Louis.
I really like Skip a lot, so, you know, I'm
sure he's got a good mind, mindset, and attitude towards
it all.
Speaker 11 (34:30):
Now that you're on the same side as Kershaw, would
you mind sharing with us maybe what your experiences were
facing him and what your plan of attack was against him.
Speaker 12 (34:40):
Yeah, you know, going up against Kursh, do you think
of all his pitches, how how good and how good
they are, how much they move, and just his execution
of them.
Speaker 9 (34:48):
So you got to go up there with a really
good plan.
Speaker 12 (34:50):
And but sometimes if he executes the way he wants to,
it's it's gonna be really tough to get a hit
regardless of what you do. So you know, he's he's
one of those pictures that it has that intimidation factor
on the mound and you know it's it's not a
fun ad.
Speaker 11 (35:05):
That Tommy Edmund is our guest before first pitch, Tommy,
as far as your career goes, and this team right now,
you guys won the World Series last year, but it
feels like nobody has admired anything from a year ago.
Best record in baseball right now? Do you feel like
there's more room for you guys to hit as far
as the ceiling this year?
Speaker 9 (35:25):
Yeah, I think so. I mean, we've we've been playing
really good baseball the last few weeks. I think we
can get even better.
Speaker 12 (35:31):
I feel like we still really haven't completely clicked as
a team and still have one of the better records
in baseball. So I think there is there is definitely
room to improve and you know, hopefully we'll continue to
do that over the course.
Speaker 9 (35:43):
Of the year.
Speaker 11 (35:44):
You guys have the most come from behind victories this
year in Major League Baseball. How good is this offense
right now? And how much better can it be? Considering
you're so good and we all feel like, how much
more is there?
Speaker 9 (35:57):
Yeah?
Speaker 12 (35:57):
I think we definitely have more in the tank, and
like you're saying, you know, we got a bunch of
guys that don't give up regardless of the score, and
you know, we just keep on fighting, putting together good
at bats and it kind of results in getting those
come from behind victories that you talked about. And also
are pitching doing a good job of keeping us in
the game once even if we're behind.
Speaker 11 (36:17):
All right, Tommy, thanks a lot for the time. I
love talking baseball with you. I know you're a humble guy,
understated guy, but you're a wealth of knowledge. So thank
you for the time.
Speaker 9 (36:25):
Yeah, I appreciate good chatting baseball with you too.
Speaker 11 (36:27):
The man Tommy Edman, and he'll receive a gift card
to Hobvier's The Staple in Newport, a new location in
downtown and coming soon to Pasadena.
Speaker 9 (36:35):
Tommy Edmond, let's go. I'm excited. Can't wait to get
some behetas.
Speaker 11 (36:39):
There, he goes Tommy Edman. We'll send it back to
you in the studio.
Speaker 1 (36:42):
Tim, All right, thanks a lot, DV Tommy Edmond.
Speaker 5 (36:44):
Yeah, it's gonna be a big instrumental player for this
Dodgers team here in the second half of the season,
especially with Max and Munsey on the endjured.
Speaker 1 (36:52):
The lists going to get more reps of third base.
Speaker 5 (36:53):
How versatile is this guy? Can play center field, shortstop,
second base. Now third baits with the Dodgers, and hurpefully
gonna start heating up at the plate as well. Dodgers

Freddie peralta nine and four ninety one ERA twenty nine
year old right hander of the Dominican Republic eight season
in the Big Leagues, all with the Brewers, making his
second All Star team this year. He has been tied
for the second in the National League with nine wins,
currently ranked fifth with a two to two average against
ninth and ran the National League tenth in the National
League with a one toh nine whip. Making his nineteen
(38:13):
start last time out, six innings, two runs, two hits,
two strikeouts in a win over the Mets. He is
two and two in his career and six starts against
the Dodgers. Yoshinobu Yamamoto, also an All Star, named to
his first All Star team in his second season in
the Big League's making his eighteenth start last time out,
seven innings, one run, three hits, eight strikeouts in a
win over the White Sox. He currently has one hundred
(38:33):
and nine strikeouts on the year. He has already surpassed
his total from a year ago. Looking to add on
that today in Milwaukee, where he's making his first start
against the Brewers. Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Freddie Peralta two All Stars
squaring off Dodgers and Brewers were fifteen minutes away from
first pitch. He's to the game our next I'm Tim

Go ahead.
Speaker 2 (39:23):
Tim, thanks again.
Speaker 6 (39:24):
We're getting you ready for this one tonight, game one
of a three game set between the Dodgers and the
Milwaukee Brewers. Yoshinobu Yamamoto eight and six and a two
five one era headed to the All Star Game. There
is some conversation going on about whether or not he
will pitch again on Sunday. So having a start here
tonight and he may get one more before the All
(39:47):
Star break on the last day of the first half.
Speaker 7 (39:49):
Yeah. Two guys that have been named to the All
Star team and for Freddy Peralta on the other side,
I think for Yamamoto also, you know what he's done
really outstanding hitters leading off innings this year. They're hitting
just one fifty five. That's the second best in Major
League Baseball. Sea does not give really a running start
to other ball clubs. And for Freddy Perolta, one thing
(40:09):
that Dodgers need to understand. He goes a three bowl
count to one out of every four hitters that he's
had so far this season. So don't go chasing. But
that's easier said than done, as a lot of hitters
chase the breaking bowl. He's been lights out with that pitch,
in particular, the changeup, and.
Speaker 6 (40:25):
Peralta tied for first in wins in the National League
with Matthew Boyd of Chicago who's nine to one, and
although Nick Pivetta of the p Andres who's nine and three,
but a nine and four record and a two nine
to one e. He has won each of his last
four starts, and he has been very, very durable and
has gone at least five innings in seventeen of his
(40:48):
eighteen prior start. So it's Peralta against Yamamoto, Game one
here in Milwaukee.
Speaker 1 (40:53):
Timp all right, first pitch is coming up next.
Speaker 5 (40:56):
Dodgers looking to get rid of this three game losing
streak after getting swept in all three games by the
Houston Astros over the weekend. It's the final road trip
before the All Star Break. Three games in Milwaukee, three
games in San Francisco over the weekend. Tyler glasnow expected
to get off the engine list, make the start on Wednesday.
Clayton Kershaw will go tomorrow. Yoshinobu Yamamoto gets to start tonight.
(41:21):
Dodgers going into play in Milwaukee fifty six and thirty five,
currently a seven game lead over both the Padres and
the Giants in the Western Division of the National League.
Both teams in action later on tonight at home in
San Diego and San Francisco.
Speaker 1 (41:37):
First pitch for Milwaukee is next.
