Tim Kas Hi, everybody, and good afternoon. Welcome to Morongo Casino,
Dodgers on Deck, your world champion Los Angeles Dodgers, don't
look now. Seventy and fifty three overall on this season.
Back atop the division, first place in the NL West,
the Rodgers at one game lead over the San Diego
(01:02):
Padres after back to back wins in this series. Today,
the Dodgers look to add to that lead. Is a
go of the sweep for the Padres. Tyler Glass now
on the mound, looking to continue with Clayton Kershawn Blake
Snell have done in the first two games. First pitch
from Dodgers Stadium is coming up at one ten. Between
then and now, we got a lot to get to
here on Morongo Casino Dodgers on deck, we'll hear from
(01:24):
the Dodger manager Dave Roberts one of his pregame thoughts
going into this series finale. David vas Say chucks in
throughout the hour, he'll go one on one with one
of the newest Dodgers, Buddy Kennedy, who is in the
starting lineup today. For Dave Roberts, we got your Dodgers
magical moment. We'll hear from Charlie Steiner coming up in
about thirty five minutes as he checks in.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
With a Rick Monday.
Speaker 6 (01:44):
Shortly we'll visit with Sports Net LA's Kirsten Watson, and
in just a few minutes we will head out.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
To the gallupin Motors broadcast booth.
Speaker 6 (01:51):
All right, Well, last night's it was all about snell
Zilla six shutout innings. He scattered five hits along the way,
struck out three. He got plenty of defensive help. How
about Will Smith throwing out not one, not two but
three different runners in the first two innings last night. Defensively,
(02:11):
Blake'snell got all the help that he could ask for
Will Smith. By the way, twenty four base runners caught stealing,
now tied for the most in the major leagues. Meanwhile,
the Dodgers offense didn't have to do a lot because
Dylan Sez was a mess. In the first inning, Dylan
Sez came out and walked the first three Dodgers, Otani, Bets,
and Will Smith. Two batters later to Oscar Hernandez a
(02:34):
sack flag that gave the Dodgers a one to nothing lead.
Two batters later, the bases loaded again for Michael confordos.
Speaker 8 (02:41):
Dylan Cease stretches on the hill. Now the right hander
throws home runners go fitch one.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
On crop ball, right field base hit.
Speaker 5 (02:49):
Betts comes in the score.
Speaker 9 (02:50):
Will Smith right behind him in the third is Piz
and Michael Conforto, with his first hit with the bases
loaded this season, gets two more on the ball of
the Dodgers leading three.
Speaker 8 (03:01):
Nothing, and I mentioned to Ceased trust the breaking ball
enough well, he threw the curve ball and.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
He got burned.
Speaker 6 (03:08):
Michael Confordo right place, right time, he drives in two
Dodgers with three runs on only one hit in the
bottom of the first inning, take a three to nothing lead.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
Thank you Dylan Sees.
Speaker 6 (03:21):
In the second, Dodgers, again with traffic on base, Jackson
Merrill balks the ball in center field, which should have
been a flyball out. Freddie Freeman instead drives in two
runs who scored on the play.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
Dodgers a five to nothing lead.
Speaker 6 (03:36):
Then in the fifth, the Dodgers added to that.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
Next to Taoe, right.
Speaker 8 (03:40):
Man batter waits. Here's the one pitch. He swings and
drives at the deep center hit is headed back toward
the walls.
Speaker 4 (03:47):
Come home run Tascar.
Speaker 8 (03:51):
He is now homewarden back to back games and the
Dodgers lead at six to nothing. Home run number twenty
on the season, Hot Skirt.
Speaker 6 (04:00):
Hernandez Tasker Hernandez now second on the team behind showing
Otani with twenty home runs. He's now had twenty plus
home runs in five consecutive seasons, seven home runs against
the Padres since the.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
Start of last year.
Speaker 6 (04:16):
He feast off the Padres pitching and in that solo
home run gave the Dodgers a six to nothing lead,
and that is the top tier played the game, brought
to by Arco quality top tier gas for less. That's
all the Dodger pitching would need. Six run lead was
good enough for Blake Snell six shutout innings. Juado Enriquez
came in throwing gas, hitting one hundred and three miles
(04:37):
an hour. Last night, Anthony Banda pitched two thirds of
an Indians truck out of batter and then came Jack
Dreyer to pitch the ninth inning. He comes in and
shuts it down. Dodgers get the shutout, win six nothing
over the Padres. Blake Snell three and one now on
this season, lowers is era to one point eight to zero,
(04:58):
Dodgers now seventy to fifty three. Dodgers now a one
game lead atop the NL West and a chance to
make it two with a sweep over the Padres today.
Tyler Glass now on the mountain with more. We head
out to the Galpu Motors broadcast booth as we say
hello and good afternoon to Tim Neverett and Rick Monday.
Speaker 8 (05:13):
Guys, Tim, thanks very much as we get you ready
for this. Won the third and final game between the
Dodgers and the Padres this weekend. Two very important wins.
First of all, three to two on Friday, six to
nothing shut out win last night, and with that, the
Dodgers have now won seven of nine against the Padres,
which gives them the season series and they head to
(05:35):
head tiebreakers, so they have a game lead right now.
But with the tiebreaker in hand, it's as good as
two games.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
Yeah, it is. And especially when you going head to
head against this ball club and the Dodgers, well, I'm
not certain. Someone asked me, said, well, had they made
a statement? Well, I think they made a statement to
themselves is that they can play better than what they
were and for this Dodger ball club now a chance
to make it three consecutive wins for the first time
since July third. And remember July third, the Dodgers at
the time had a nine game lead over the Andres
(06:04):
in the Western Division. So hopefully things are turning around,
including what we have seen turnaround the bullpen the last
couple of nights has been really right on the money.
Speaker 8 (06:15):
Tyler GLA's now pitching for the Dodgers. You, Darvish will
go for San Diego this afternoon, and for the Dodgers,
we'll see a new person in the lineup Buddy Kennedy,
who was picked up off of waivers from Toronto Toronto
Dafadum beginning of the week, and the Dodgers needing a
little assistance at third base since Max Montsey has gone
(06:36):
on the injured list. Kennedy will make his first start
as a Dodger.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
Yeah, and he'll be at third base. Alex Freeland will
be at second. Michael Confordo, by the way, another starting
left field and bring his name up because he had
a big two run single in the first inning of
last night's ball game, also had another base hit leading
off the sixth inning, and we're beginning to see some
better swings from Confordo and much needed especially at the
bottom of the Dodgers' batting order.
Speaker 8 (07:00):
One thing we've been seeing as far as a pattern
as far as catching goes, is that Dalton Rushing pretty
much have been catching Tuesdays and Saturdays middle games of
the weekend set. Will Smith is going to catch again
today the day game after the night game, catching three
in a row, signifying how important these games are and
having him in there last night was extremely important, especially
(07:21):
with his defense throwing out three base runners two in
the first inning. Alone, and for Smith to catch three
straight days, that kind of a big deal in terms
of how the Dodgers.
Speaker 5 (07:30):
Have been doing things handling the catcher.
Speaker 2 (07:32):
Yeah, those three Caughts stealing both in the over the
first two innings, two of them in that very first inning.
Kind of a strange game to begin with to start with,
because Blake Snell on the mound. He wound up going
six innings, no runs on five hits, but he gave
up three of those five hits to the first three
batters in the ballgame, and then there were two runners
thrown out trying to steal. So for if you look
(07:53):
at Will Smith, now he's tied for first in baseball
for catching runners trying to steal.
Speaker 5 (07:59):
That's twenty five.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
That ties him with the Carlos Narvaaz of the Boston
Red Sox. So he has just really shut down attempted
stolen bases For the Dodgers.
Speaker 8 (08:09):
They hope to keep the Podre lineup in check. Manny
Machado has not been productive yet this series. Fernando Tatis
Junior either in Luisa Rise, who is normally a base
hitting machine. He's had a couple of hits but hasn't
really produced very much.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
And I wonder too, Tim, if it's not from a standpoint,
the Dodgers have been very, very the thoughtful of first
pitches thrown. I bring that up because last night mentioned
that the p Andres as a team first pitch of
atvats are hitting over three point thirty. That's not been
the case. After the first inning last night. Dodgers have
won the first two. They go for three in a
row over the Padres this afternoon at Dodger Stadium.
Speaker 6 (08:45):
Tim, all right, thank you guys, as we count you
down to first pitch. Remember Dodger fans getting that came
Dave Meal long Yet it's lunchtime, not right now. What
are you doing with a Shaky's Pizza parlor? You can
order that Shaky's Pizza, Chicken and Mojo's right now at Shaky's.
DoD We're often running here on Morongo Casino, Dodgers on
deck on this Sunday. Coming up, you're gonna hear from
the manager, Dave Robert, you'll hear from Buddy Kennedy. Charlie

Steiner joins us coming up in about thirty minutes of
nexto Otani rewind and we'll visit with sports in at
LA's Kirston Watson. That's all coming up as we lead
you up to the series finale Dodgers goal for the
sweep over the Padres. First pitch of one ten. Next
for being with us, I'm Tim kas Is the world
champion Los Angeles Dodgers audio that work.
Speaker 4 (09:31):
This is Morongo Casino Dodgers hunting game on your home
for LA Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 6 (09:39):
Lead you out to Dodgers and Padres on this Sunday
afternoon series finale. Dodgers going for the sweep over San Diego.
Tyler Glass, Now you darvish the pitching matchup. First pitch
coming up at one ten.
Speaker 4 (09:51):
This is the Otani rewyd He kicks and fires at
two to two and Otani lines at the center of base. Here.
Speaker 8 (10:00):
Well, he reached for a pitch that was outside. It
was a curve ball and he poked it in the
center and he's been on base three times.
Speaker 4 (10:08):
Show.
Speaker 6 (10:09):
Hey, Otani goes one for two to walks to run score.
Dodgers shut out the Padres last night, six to nothing.
Speaker 4 (10:16):
This is Kirston's corner with Kirston Watson.
Speaker 6 (10:20):
Hey, Kirston now joins us from the stadium. Brought to
by Cars for Kids. Ready to donate that old car
call eache of seven Cars for Kids. Right now, friendly
agents are standing by to take your donation. That's Cars
with the K to donate your car today.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
First off gears.
Speaker 6 (10:34):
So this team has won two in a row now
over the Padres. I don't know about you, this looks
like a different team. This looks like a team that's
dialed in right now and competitive all nine innings.
Speaker 7 (10:45):
That's exactly what it is.
Speaker 4 (10:46):
Right now.
Speaker 7 (10:46):
They're playing complete baseball games. And even Dave Roberts was saying,
you know, coming into this series, yes there was a
feeling of urgency, not lessarily a Game seven urgency of
the World Series, but or a panic per se. But
there was something too.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
It's time to.
Speaker 7 (11:00):
Get back on track. It's time to be playing complete
baseball games, having really good at bats, understanding that, you know,
you don't have to always have the big swing sometimes
it's just like with Dave Roberts likes to say.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
About moving the ball.
Speaker 7 (11:11):
Fort we've seen excellent pitching, whether it's been from the
starting rotation with Clayton Kershaw on Blake Snell, how they've
set the tone. The bullpen has gotten back on track. Yes,
we did see the uncharacteristic hit batters from Alex Vessia
in that first game, but to see how they were
able to all support each other, Dave Roberts going to
different guys for different situations, that has been huge, And
(11:32):
so Dave was saying, there's just a different level of
focus right now. It's a different level of intent, it's
a different level of focus, and that has got to
be the key in this one. Today. They are going
for the sweep.
Speaker 4 (11:43):
They get to be.
Speaker 7 (11:43):
Greedy, They want to be greedy, and especially when we
go back to that Blue Jays series. They of course
won the first two games. That third game it was
not pretty at all, and so they don't want that
to happen.
Speaker 4 (11:55):
Even Dave was saying.
Speaker 7 (11:56):
Clearly that game has still left a sour taste in
his mouth. And so there's a feeling about looking to
get this win today and the series sweep over the Padres.
Speaker 6 (12:05):
Look at the lineup today, Buddy Kennedy in the lineup.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
For the Dodgers.
Speaker 7 (12:10):
Yeah, so Buddy Kennedy's going to be making his Dodgers' debut.
We actually saw him speaking of the Blue Jays, saw
him kind of recently when he was here in Los
Angeles with the Blue Jays and he was recently just
picked up. So with the injury to Maximunsey, Dave Roberts
was saying that for Buddy, we're likely going to be
seeing him more at third base, is kind of splitting
(12:31):
that time with Alex Freeland. But Buddy is someone who
could play at first base, he could play in left field,
so he has Davis said that he's been told he's
a plus defender and so he's looking forward to kind
of getting to see a little bit more with the
team going to Colorado. Of course, you know with Miguel
Rojas and Alex Freeland, you do want to give guys
a little bit of time because Colorado and Denver with
(12:52):
the elstude can be very challenging on the body. So
you may see him get a little bit more opportunity there,
but it's primarily going to be at third until Max
months course is healthy and returning.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
Dodgers going for the sweep.
Speaker 6 (13:03):
It's a big one for him today out at the
Ravine Tyler Glass now on the Mount Kirsti, we appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
We'll check in with you after the game. Still to come.
Speaker 6 (13:10):
Here on Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck, we dive deeper
into this Sunday pitching matchup.
Speaker 1 (13:15):
David Vasse will stop by.
Speaker 6 (13:17):
He goes one on one with said Buddy Kennedy next,
so we'll get you an injury report, and we hear
from the manager himself, Dave Roberts, how he's he feeling
going into this series finale with the Dodgers, a chance
to get the sweep over the Padres. First pitch of
one ten. I'm Tim Kasey's the world champion. Los Angeles
Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 4 (13:37):
This is Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck on your home
for the Blue all season long.
Speaker 6 (13:46):
Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck continues on this Sunday afternoon.
Dodgers and the Padres series finale from the Ravine Marago
Casino Resort and Spy Grand Slam for good times. Tyler Glass,
Now and you darbish the pitching man. First pitch set
for one ten. This is the LA Dodgers Injury Report
(14:07):
presented by UCLA Healthy, Official medical partner of the Los
Angeles Dodgers. Max Munsey on the ie L with the
right oblique injury. Rock Stewart on the I L with
the right shoulder inflammation. He is hoping to come back
at some point. Kirby Yates, Tanner Scott, both working their
way back, both throwing sim games and trying to get
back into that Dodgers' bullpen. Kicky Hernandez on the I
L with the left elbows sword in his Rookie Sasaki
(14:28):
on the I L with that shoulder injury he threw
in Triple A Oklahoma City on Thursday, trying to build
himself back up here for the stretch run. All right,
let's heap back out to Dodger Stadium as we check
you out. The Dodger skipper A.
Speaker 4 (14:41):
Questions for Dave, Dave, can you just describe Dave?
Speaker 1 (14:44):
Can you talk about the pressure.
Speaker 4 (14:46):
In the dugouts with Dave Roberts?
Speaker 10 (14:49):
Yeah, I think that, you know, getting Miggie off of
his feet. He'll play the next couple of days in
Denver as well, buddy, so he'll get three days in
a row. See him primarily playing against left I haven't
seen much of them here. He's a good defender at
(15:10):
third and play some first, some left field, some second base.
So I just you know, Darves is a tough matchup
certainly for a right hander, but just have good at
bats and then we'll we'll go from there.
Speaker 7 (15:25):
Apologics just from this series. But does it feel like going.
Speaker 5 (15:30):
Through the city just considering telling you all whether it's.
Speaker 6 (15:33):
Blue Jay series or thing's gonna.
Speaker 4 (15:34):
Come off in that third Dame, is it feeling that has.
Speaker 7 (15:37):
To be a priority and going into.
Speaker 4 (15:39):
The same today.
Speaker 10 (15:41):
Yeah, you know, I think it's just more of the
the intent. I just you know, that Sunday game against
the Blue Jay still stings me clearly. But yeah, so
I think for me, it's you know, going into today
having a chance already winning the series and having a
chance to really make Hay and finish these guys off.
(16:03):
So expect Tyler to come out and set the tone
and you knows our guys, we know him. There's going
to be a lot of mix and match and kind
of you know, a lot of spin using the fastball.
So it's gonna be it's going to be a good
battle today, a good fight and that's all I want
(16:24):
to see, and then we'll kind of deal with the
results after that.
Speaker 6 (16:27):
I think first time this year that will started a
day game after a make game.
Speaker 11 (16:31):
Is that just a byproductive matchup or anything like that.
Speaker 5 (16:34):
What sort of behind him started three in a rown,
starting a day after making.
Speaker 10 (16:38):
I think part of it is, I think we've done
a very good job of kind of building equity into
him as far as the workload and being able to
push him at certain times. And you know, I think
for me and talking to him, he feels good, and
so it makes sense today.
Speaker 6 (16:57):
All right, there's the manager, Dave Roberts, explaining what the
reasoning in for the lineup and with the plan moving forward,
we continue here on Morogo Casino.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
Dodgers on deck. We will check in with the David
va Day.
Speaker 6 (17:09):
As we leach out the first pitch on this Sunday
Dodgers and Padres. I'm Tim Kass, the world champion Los
Angeles Dodgers Audio A Network.
Speaker 4 (17:18):
As we were saying, yes, is Marongo Casino Dodgers on
deck on the official home of La Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 6 (17:27):
It's the Dodgers and Padres on this Sunday Dodgers, winners
of the first two games of this series, one game
leading the division.
Speaker 1 (17:34):
Can they make it too?
Speaker 6 (17:35):
Of the sweet Tyler Glass now on the mount, first.
Speaker 4 (17:37):
Pitch coming up at one ten, Joining Tim Kats on
Dodgers on Deck.
Speaker 5 (17:43):
I accept everybody for who they are.
Speaker 4 (17:45):
This is Dodger insider David Basse.
Speaker 6 (17:48):
All right, DV, we're gonna get to an update on
Key k in his second But looking at the lineup
Will Smith again behind the plate.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
You've been talking about this. It's go time.
Speaker 6 (17:57):
He needs to be in that lineup every day, right.
Speaker 12 (18:00):
The Dodgers have done a great job of load managing
Will Smith all season long, so he doesn't have a
big drop off in the second half of the season
like he has had in each of the last three
But like you said, Tim, it's go time. The Dodgers
don't have a nine game lead in the NL West anymore.
They have a one game lead in the NL West
(18:21):
and came into this series a game behind San Diego.
So Dave Roberts also is setting the tone of urgency
by having Will Smith in the starting lineup for the
first time this year, a day game after a night game,
playing both, and this will mark just the second time
this season Will Smith has played three consecutive calendar days
(18:43):
since June nineteenth, twentieth and twenty first. He also did
it at the end of May and the beginning of June.
So this is significant and also needed because Will Smith
changed the complexion of the game last night in the
first inning by throwing out two base runners. And also
with the Dodgers not having Max Munsey for the foreseeable future,
(19:03):
they need the best hitter in the lineup in the lineup, no.
Speaker 1 (19:06):
Doubt about it. Time is now.
Speaker 6 (19:08):
David has brought to you By twenty twenty five for
one fifty from California's best selling truck brand.
Speaker 1 (19:12):
It's time to see.
Speaker 6 (19:13):
Ford in a new light. Ford for America's from America.
Speaking of scene, we haven't seen Keyk Hernandez in the
Dodger lineup since July fifth.
Speaker 1 (19:21):
David, what's the latest.
Speaker 12 (19:23):
Yeah, I talked to Keyk at his locker yesterday and
I asked him whether or not he's swinging the bat,
because that's what was giving him a lot of pain
in that left elbow after sliding awkwardly and aggravating his
nerve in that elbow back in Cleveland.
Speaker 5 (19:39):
Told me he had been swinging the.
Speaker 12 (19:40):
Bat for a while, and today we saw it with
our own eyes as he was taking batting practice this
morning on the field, and he's set it out for
a rehab assignment on Tuesday, and maybe in Tulsa, not
in Oklahoma City, and he is very near a return.
I don't believe it's going to be as soon as
San Diego, but a very good chance. Key Y Hernandez
(20:02):
returns to the Dodgers on Monday, a week from tomorrow.
Speaker 6 (20:07):
If he were to go to Oklahoma City, David, he
would run into Ryan Warren, one of the Dodgers' top
outfield prospects but just haven't seen at the major league
level yet.
Speaker 12 (20:16):
Why yeah, Tim, I'm going to add you to a
long list of broadcasters and fans that have exhausted the
question about why no Ryan Ward after that type of year?
The only answer that I can gather is Number one
is defense is equal to Michael.
Speaker 5 (20:35):
Conforto's or less than. And he's not very versatile. He
can only play left field.
Speaker 12 (20:41):
And if you call him up, is he going to
be able to handle a pin hitting roll off the bench?
Are the Dodgers calling it a season on Michael Conforto?
I know the Dodgers believe that Confordo has hit into
a lot of bad luck and they believe that he
will turn this around going down the stretch here. So
those are the reasons I been given from a number
(21:01):
of different people within the organization and outside the organization
about Ryan Ward, who's had a great year at TRIPLEA. No,
no disputing that, but it's just a debate that right
now he's not winning real quick.
Speaker 6 (21:14):
David Tyler Glass now looking to build on what Blake
Snell did last night, what Clayton Kershaw did on Friday.
Is he up to the task. What kind of Blake's
what kind of Tyler Glass? Now you think we see today?
Speaker 5 (21:25):
Well, today's a big test.
Speaker 12 (21:27):
I mean, the standard's been set the first two starts
with Kershaw and Snell going six innings and allowing just
combine one run. So there's got to be competition against
the guys in the batter's box, But there's got to
be an accountability to your pitching staff and to your
team that really wants to sweep this series. It doesn't
seem like the Dodgers are satisfied taking two out of three.
(21:49):
So there's that accountability from within that clubhouse for Glass
now to have that focus that Dave Roberts talked about
before the first game of this series.
Speaker 6 (21:58):
All right, they have great Stuff'll check back in in
just a couple of minutes.
Speaker 1 (22:01):
There is, well, there is, but not I get it.
I get all right. Coming up, Dave's.
Speaker 6 (22:05):
Gonna go one on one with Buddy Kennedy. Will dive
deeper to this pitching magic Buddy Kennedy in the lineup
today for Dave Roberts. Next, we'll get your Dodgers Magical Moment.
Dodgers and Padres. Dodgers going for the sweep over the

We go back now thirty three years August seventeenth, nineteen
ninety two, Dodgers taking on the San Francisco Giant. They
would win the game two to nothing over San Francisco
on a day in which Kevin Gross through a no no.
Speaker 9 (23:19):
They are a minute away from ten o'clock and Gross
could be a minute away from.
Speaker 5 (23:24):
A no hitter.
Speaker 9 (23:26):
Bill Swift, the runner for Leonard who was hit on

Speaker 13 (23:32):
Running at first base.
Speaker 9 (23:35):
Again, Gross out of his stread Kevin Ruddy and the
strike one pitch is hitting.
Speaker 5 (23:40):
The had a shadow left. Webster's got it. No hitter
for Kevin Gross.
Speaker 8 (23:45):
He and Mike Schosser throw their arms around each other.
The Dodgers mob the big right hander, and happy birthday.
Speaker 12 (23:54):
This is Kevin Gross tomorrow.
Speaker 5 (23:56):
It's a birthday to remember all your lives together.
Speaker 6 (24:01):
Kevin Gross with the no hitter back in nineteen ninety two,
his wife Tammra's twenty seventh birthday. He pitches the no hitter.
It was the first no hitter of nineteen ninety two.
It helped the Dodgers avoid a four game sweep at
home to the Giants. Is no hitter the eighteenth in
Dodger history, and the franchise is sixth against the Giants.
This Hofey magical moment brought to you by Hofey Hot Talks.

This is Marongo Casino Dodgers on Tap on your home

Speaker 6 (24:52):
It's Dodgers had the Padres on this Sunday afternoon. Tyler Glass,
Now you darbage the pit gam matchup on this beautiful afternoon.

(25:14):
Let's head back out, Charlie Stodder take.
Speaker 1 (25:17):
It away, all right, Tim.
Speaker 3 (25:18):
The Dodgers now looking for a clean three game sweep
of the San Diego Padres. Winning Friday night and of
course the six nothing shut out last night. It was
one of those games last night where the Padres and
maybe their biggest game of the season certainly a battle
for first place with the Dodgers. They face planted at
the batter's box in the very first inning.
Speaker 2 (25:38):
Mark, Yeah, and I thought that the Dodgers did a
lot of good things. Obviously they don't wind up with
that six nothing, shut out victory, but they were very
selective to begin with. Oh yes, Dylan SE's had difficulty
finding the shrink zone. Three consecutive walks open up the
ball game. Then a line drive out Freddy Freeman hit
the ball very hard, sacrificed fly by Tiasca Hernandez, who
(25:58):
knocked in two runs during the ball game, and then
Michael Conforto knocked in two in that very first and
I think Confordo now fortunately he's beginning to swing the
bat much better and had another base hit in that ballgame.
And for the Dodgers, I thought they did something else too, Charlie,
is that not only pitched selection were very very tidy
in making decisions on pitches they were going to offer
(26:19):
at but they struck out only four times. And that
is a big, big improvement because they came into the
ballgame last night having struck out forty six times in
the four games preceding last night's game, so a big
turnaround offensively to help supplant the pitching as well.
Speaker 3 (26:36):
On the season this year, the Dodgers are eight and
one when they strike out four times or fewer, and
so that was the case in the Dodgers win last night.
Flakes now tough start, managed to right the ship and
then the Dodgers were in cruise control pretty much.
Speaker 2 (26:53):
He really kind of regained some strength because he gave
up three consecutive hits to open up the game and
then there was a line drive out. But if you're
looking at a guy that had a really good game,
we haven't talked about him from an offensive standpoint, but
from defense. How about the fact that Will Smith last
night threw out two attempted base dealers in the first
(27:14):
inning and then nailed another one in the second. So
you start to talk about cleaning up the bases by
cont stealing. Will Smith has done a tremendous job in
that area this year.
Speaker 3 (27:25):
So the Dodgers last night thoroughly outplayed the Padres. Granted,
the Padres did not play well really at any facet
of the game, and so with a sweep today, they've
got glass now going against you.
Speaker 4 (27:36):
Darvish this afterno and.
Speaker 3 (27:38):
The Dodgers can leave town, go up to Denver for
a four game series before coming back next weekend to
play the Padres in San Diego with a very comfortable lead.
Speaker 2 (27:49):
And Charlie, we know one thing when he's playing heads up,
head to head against that ball club is either directly
in front of you or behind you. It's a two
game swing. As you said, if they win today, it's two.
If they lose today, the Dodgers lose, then it's only one.
You know, you can't look forward to say, well, I'm
going to be playing four games up in Denver against
the Rockies. They have a terrible record, They're thirty six
(28:10):
games behind the Dodgers in the Western Division. Take care
of business today and then worry about the road trip, which,
by the way, the last three games of the road
trip next weekend, the Dodgers are in San Diego, and
that's not going to be a pleasant experience as far
as the crowd level and the noise.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
Maybe the understatement of the night last night, after the game,
Podrey manager Mike Schilt said, quote, we had a plan
and they made some plays at six nothing. Their plan
wasn't very good, and the Dodgers made more than enough.
Speaker 2 (28:41):
You know what you're saying about. Have a plan with
the boxers because you covered boxing so long. Every boxer
has a plan until what gets hit.
Speaker 5 (28:49):
In the nose.
Speaker 3 (28:51):
And they got hit on the pro biscuits last night.
And again the Dodgers feeling awfully good about themselves a
win today, they sweep the pod Rings have already now
won the season series, so if they face one another
in the postseason, the Dodger will have the home field
advantaged in that. So we're getting ready to wrap up
this three game series. It's the Dodgers and the Padres.
(29:11):
Dodgers looking for the sweep. Coming up, Tim all right.
Speaker 1 (29:14):
Thank you, Charlie.
Speaker 6 (29:15):
Great to hear your voice as the Dodger game plan
about starting your future to California Community college, financial aid
available to help you out tuition books, sometimes even the
red It's time to take that next big step.
Speaker 1 (29:27):
Come on, classes can fill up quickly.
Speaker 6 (29:28):
Fall semester right around the corner, starting here very soon,
So on roll today and I can go to college
dot Com. Still to come here, I'm Rogo Casino Dodgers

Speaker 4 (30:24):
And now what will likely be vast a fielding insults
from a Dodger player.
Speaker 1 (30:29):
It's an engagement of endearment.
Speaker 4 (30:30):
This is high and tight.
Speaker 12 (30:33):
Well, the Dodgers have a new starting third basement today
in the finale of this series, and we're here to
introduce you to Buddy Kennedy, who is the Dodgers starting
third baseman. They claimed him recently, and here he is
in the show today. Buddy, thanks a lot for the
time and congratulations on being a Dodger.
Speaker 13 (30:49):
Awesome, thank you. I appreciate you having me here.
Speaker 5 (30:51):
How has it been so far this morning?
Speaker 12 (30:53):
I'm sure Dave Roberts, let you know yesterday you would
be starting today. How have you processed such a quick
turn of events here?
Speaker 11 (31:00):
Yeah, you know, pretty quick, Dave told me yesterday at MVP.
Speaker 13 (31:04):
You know, so from there on it kind of just
got my mind, right.
Speaker 11 (31:06):
I kind of did the routine that you know I
do normally starting so, you know, just kind of just.
Speaker 13 (31:11):
Taking it all in, being myself and you know, just
ready to play some baseball today.
Speaker 12 (31:14):
That's the biggest thing I've heard from young guys. No
matter if you're on a new team or in the
same organization, you have to find a routine.
Speaker 5 (31:22):
I'm sure that helped you today, Oh.
Speaker 13 (31:24):
For sure, for sure.
Speaker 11 (31:24):
I Mean when I was younger in my career, I
didn't really have a routine, just kind of showed up
and played and have some good games, have some bad games.
But I think overall, as I developed in my career
so far, up to this point. I think just having
a routine, whether it's you know, putting on those socks
the right way or you know, little superstition things.
Speaker 13 (31:40):
But yeah, you know it felt good.
Speaker 11 (31:42):
Woke up today, took the fiance to the airport and
you know, got here around like eight, did my routine,
took my time, did some ground balls, and now you know,
ready to go for team time.
Speaker 5 (31:50):
That's the biggest thing too. Don't rush, Oh, don't rush.
Speaker 11 (31:53):
You can't this game especially you rush, everything's going to
speed up on you, even if it's off the field,
all on in the field. So just try to keep cool,
calm and collected, and you know.
Speaker 13 (32:01):
See where it takes it.
Speaker 12 (32:02):
You mentioned superstitions or just your routine. What is it for,
Buddy Kennedy.
Speaker 11 (32:07):
I have to put my cleats on left to right,
not right to left, socks left to right, not right
to left, certain time, have to do stretches at a
certain time depending on the day game or night game. Yeah,
so it kind of just a little superstitious with all
my I've always been my entire career.
Speaker 13 (32:24):
So if I don't do that, I think my whole
day is off.
Speaker 12 (32:27):
Really yeah, I don't even feel like that superstition. It's
it's actually paying attention to details.
Speaker 13 (32:32):
Absolutely.
Speaker 11 (32:33):
I think in this game and I think in life,
you have to pay attention to detail. So you know,
just as long as you can do that consistently, you'll
be your internal clock, your body, everything will be on
the same flow. So I think for that overall just
puts you in a good spot mentally and physically.
Speaker 12 (32:48):
Buddy Kennedy will be starting at third base for the
Dodgers today. You actually were at Dodgers Stadium last weekend,
but you were wearing a Blue Jay's uniform. Is that
a little weird for you to have this chain so quickly?
Speaker 11 (33:01):
Yeah, yeah, definitely changed the different blues obviously, but yeah,
it's it was kind of surreal, you know, obviously playing
against Snell the last weekend, and then it's funny the
other day when I came in there and everybody's like, oh,
it's up, Buddy, we.
Speaker 13 (33:13):
Really just saw you a couple of days ago. So
you know, it's pretty full circle.
Speaker 11 (33:17):
But you know, happy to be here, happy to be
part of this team, and you know, get to meet
the guys and you know, have fun with him.
Speaker 12 (33:22):
Buddy Kennedy's from New Jersey, and he has a connection
to a pretty good baseball player, big Eagles fan, and
that is Mike Trout.
Speaker 5 (33:30):
How did you connect with Trout?
Speaker 11 (33:32):
So we worked at the same facility, training facility when
I was thirteen. It was called the Pit, and Mike
trained late at night, around nine, and then I came
in for the early start around eight.
Speaker 13 (33:44):
So then overall he saw me working out.
Speaker 11 (33:46):
We'd always just say hi, went passing each other, and
then as I got older, kind of connected with him more.
And then I got drafted by the Arizona and ever
since then kind of just been always clicked. Turned from
you know, just working with Mike and then training, then
at his house and then all of a sudden we're
hunting together and you know, living life, and you know
it's pretty cool, you know, to kind of.
Speaker 13 (34:08):
Have that in my back pocket.
Speaker 11 (34:09):
He's always he's always there for me to get text him,
talk about life or you know, scattering reports on guys.
Speaker 13 (34:14):
So you know, it's pretty cool.
Speaker 11 (34:15):
Obviously he's done it for a while now, at this
level for about fourteen years, so you know, have him
in my back pocket, it's it's pretty cool, and you know,
just always there for me.
Speaker 12 (34:24):
So have you texted him or has he text you?
Since you're starting today for the Dodgers.
Speaker 13 (34:28):
He hasn't texted me yet.
Speaker 11 (34:29):
I don't think he saw it yet, but I'll probably
get a text here, hopefully a little bit because he
actually just reaps out when I wet up with the Jays,
and it's because I know the Dodgers just played.
Speaker 13 (34:41):
Angels, so I kind of just missed him.
Speaker 11 (34:42):
But but yeah, I'll definitely talk to him either today
or tomorrow, just you know, suits the stuff and see
what happens.
Speaker 12 (34:47):
Buddy Kennedy is our guest. He's starting at third base
for the Dodgers today. Before I let you go, Since
your buddies with Mike Trout and you're from Jersey, does
that mean you're an Eagles fan too?
Speaker 1 (34:57):
Oh?
Speaker 13 (34:57):
Absolutely, absolutely, die diehard Eagles fan. Always been. I'm a
Philly sports guy in general.
Speaker 11 (35:03):
I grew up, you know, idolizing the Philadelphia Phillies and
then you know the Flyers and Eagles and Sixers as well,
So I'm always a Philly sports kid. But yeah, die
heart Eagles fan. Hopefully they can take care of business
this year and see where.
Speaker 13 (35:14):
They end up at the end of the year.
Speaker 12 (35:15):
Yeah, it doesn't seem like Mike Trout would take you
under his wing and be friends with you if you
were not an Eagles fan.
Speaker 13 (35:21):
Exactly, exactly.
Speaker 11 (35:22):
He is very strict on his friends, especially when it
comes to their football teams.
Speaker 12 (35:26):
I'll tell you that, all right, Buddy, thanks a lot
for the time. Great to meet another Philly guy. That
means you bring the edge. I won't mess around with you.
I know how you guys are.
Speaker 13 (35:34):
I appreciate it. Just blue collar and you know, work hard.
Speaker 12 (35:37):
Hey, today, baseball then Jim Tanned laundry.
Speaker 11 (35:40):
Yeah, that's correct, Jim Tannel laundry, baseball, Jim Tann laundry,
and the offseason just straight Jim Tann laundry.
Speaker 5 (35:46):
That's awesome.
Speaker 12 (35:46):
Hey, Buddy Kennedy, thanks a lot for the time, and
we're all pulling for you today.
Speaker 13 (35:50):
Thank you, man. I appreciate it.
Speaker 5 (35:51):
There he is, Buddy Kennedy, one of the newest Dodgers.
He's starting at third base today and he does.
Speaker 12 (35:56):

a great guy. Getting to know him a little bit better,
Dodger fans as he gets to start today at third base.
Speaker 1 (36:29):
As we lead you up to.
Speaker 6 (36:30):
First pitch, Dodgers and Padres up next, We're gonna dive
deeper into this pitching matchup. Yes, Tyler Glass now on
the mound, trying to do what Lake Snell did last night,
Clayton Kershaw did before on Friday night.
Speaker 1 (36:42):
Let's hold the Padres and check.
Speaker 6 (36:44):
Dodgers won the first two games of the series, looking
to get the sweep and extend they're leading the division.
Speaker 1 (36:48):
We'll dive deeper in to the numbers next.

Speaker 6 (37:25):
You darbish on the mound two and three through five
to sixty one ERA thirty nine year old right hander
in his fourteenth season down in the big leagues. Was
with the Dodgers in twenty seventeen, but we know what
happened that year. Now, in his fifth season with the Padres,
he throws six pitches, primarily though the sinker, slider, curve,
and the four seam fastball, but he's got a big
arsenal of pitches he can go to. Making his eighth
start this season, he's been hurt. Made his season debut
(37:46):
back on July seventh against the Diamonbacks. This is his
nineteenth career start against the Dodgers. He's seven and six
with a two thirty one e EER. Tyler Glass now
in the Mounta ten season in the Big League, second
with the Dodgers, making his twelve start of the season,
his seventh since coming off the IL, also in early July,
holding opponents to a one to seventy two Battian average.
Last time out five and two third innings, two runs
before hits, eight strikeouts and a no decision against the
(38:08):
Blue Jays, a game he should have won. He last
faced the Padres last July, seven innings in a no
decision against the Padres, no wins, no losses to sixty three.
Speaker 7 (38:17):
E r A.
Speaker 1 (38:18):
Tyler Glass.
Speaker 6 (38:19):
Now you darvers, two veterans going head to head, Dodgers
and Padres fighting for the NL West Dodgers, a one
game league going into play. We're fifteen minutes away for
first pitch. Keys to the game our next I'm Tim
Kasi's world champion Los Angeles Dodgers audio number.
Speaker 4 (38:35):
This is Marongo Casino Dodgers on deck on your home
for the blue full season long, leading you up.
Speaker 6 (38:44):
To the first pitch Dodgers and Padres on this Sunday afternoon.
Tyler Glass now you Darvish on the mountain. The boys
in Blue playing home. It's important they have the right
game plan to protect their house. You need one for
your home. To create a wildfire action plan, select a
predetermined meeting point and outside your home and create a
family communication plan. Know your escape routes and practice him.
Put together a go back with all the essentials your
(39:06):
family may need for up to four days or more.
Carry a fire extinguishing your car. Hot exhaust pipes and
mufflers can scrape starting fire, so avoid parking your car
on dry grass. For more information about these tips and
to fight out others, visit fire dot CAA dot gov.
Right back out to the booth one final time before
first pitched him.
Speaker 1 (39:23):
Never Rick Monday, guys.
Speaker 8 (39:24):
Tim, Thanks again. Gorgeous afternoon at Dodgers Stadium for a ballgame.
Dodgers and the Podres coming up in Right after the game,
the Dodgers will head out to Colorado. Don't take on
the Rockies, but business to take care of first Here today,
you Darvish against Tyler glasnow glassnow making his twelfth start
since he's come back from the injured list.
Speaker 5 (39:44):
He hasn't had a.
Speaker 8 (39:45):
Decision yet, although he's pitched pretty well, pitched well in
his last outing against Toronto, going five and two thirds innings,
allowing just two earned runs on four hits. Again, no decision,
one in one for glasnow on the right hander hopes
for a big day this afternoon.
Speaker 2 (39:59):
Yeah, and if you look at Glasgow, it's a little deceiving, say, well,
one in one and eleven starts. But if we look
at the sixth starts since the ninth of July, while
his record is zero to one, his ERA is only
two point three four. But he's not had runs scored
for him in those six starts totally, just nine runs.
And then the compound the problems. When he has pitched well,
the Dodgers have scored when he's left the game of
(40:21):
the lead, the bullpen has not been able to shut
down the opposing teams. So for glassnow, don't be misled
by the record. He's given up just a one seventy
two batting average against and the big right hander hopefully
is going to be giving a lot of innings here
this afternoon.
Speaker 8 (40:34):
Left batting average against the best in the National League
among its starters. Right now, you Darvish two and three,
five sixty one ra Since coming off the il, he's
kind of been grinding it out some. He'll make his
eighth start, and when he's been on the road this year,
things have not gone his way. His urn run average
away from Petco Park seven thirty six.
Speaker 2 (40:55):
Well, he blew out the candles on his birthday cake yesterday,
thirty nine years of age. But one thing about it.
When he has runners on base, he goes to a
lot of all speed pitches. And by the way you,
Darvish throws only about sixteen different type pitches. It's difficult
to label them, but he will zip that fast boat
by you. But once he gets ahead and again with
runners on base, the last three years he's gone to
(41:17):
a really high percentage of all speed pitches.
Speaker 8 (41:19):
One of the keys against him will be oh Tani
showhy one for eleven career against Darvish, Darbish against Glasnow
Dodgers and the padre is coming up.
Speaker 6 (41:29):
Tim all right, first pitches next afterwards, David Vassie's got
you cover with.
Speaker 1 (41:32):
All the postgame, including Dodger talk as well. Enjoy it.
Speaker 6 (41:35):
Dodgers going for the sweet Necks tile glass on the
mountain when we come back. This has been Moroco Casino
