Speaker 1 (00:42):
Hi everybody, and welcome to Morongo Casino Dodgers On. I
hope you're enjoying your Monday afternoon as your world champion.
Los Angeles Dodgers sit at seventy one at fifty three.
Don't look now, but guess who's back attop the NL. Yes,
the Dodgers back in first place in the Division, two
(01:04):
games up on the San Diego Padres after a weekend
sweep of the Friars.
Speaker 6 (01:09):
The Dodgers now.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
Hit the road for a four game series in the
mile highest City against the Rockies Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mountain.
The series opener for the Dodgers first pitch from coors
Field is set for five forty coming up over the
next sixty minutes here on Morongo Casino, Dodgers on deck.
Guess what you get to hear from the manager Dave Roberts.
We'll dive deeper into this pitching matchup. David Vassin is
(01:31):
gonna go one on one with Andre ethiear we got
your Dodgers magical moment.
Speaker 6 (01:36):
Shortly we'll head down to the field and get.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
The thoughts and reaction from Kirsten Watson there at coors
Field in Denver, and it's just a few minutes. We
check in with Tim Neverda and Rick Monday out the
Gallpin Motors Broadcast booth. Well yesterday at Dodgers Stadium, the
Boys in Blue finished off the sweep of the Padres.
Tyler Glass now picked up where Blake Snell and Clayton
Kershaw were before him on Friday and Saturday. Yesterday, Tyler Glass,
(02:01):
now five solid innings, still had two runs on six
hits while striking out eight along the way, and he
got some early run support the first inning of the
Dodgers got to you, Darvish.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
Quickly and the two from Darvish coming the pitch and
Freeman swings hits a drive to right center fielding.
Speaker 4 (02:21):
Date this pap back.
Speaker 5 (02:23):
This pop home.
Speaker 9 (02:24):
Run Freddy Freeman a three run shot, and the Dodgers
striped first three nothing on the fifteenth home run of
the season for Freddy Freeman.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
An absolute no doubt into the pavilion and right center field.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
Freddy Freeman home run number fifteen. This was a Dodger
team quick to get after you. Darvish, Otwi single bets walk,
two batters later, you heard it, Freddy Freeman with the
three run home run. Just like that, the Dodgers were
up three to nothing on the Padres and that was
a big moment for the Dodgers. Andy pie Has two
batters later, made it for nothing with a solo blast
(03:03):
off you, darbish, and the Dodgers led four to nothing,
but that came to Padres. They sort of chipped away
at that deficit to tease Junior and RBI doubling the third,
Loreano home running the fifth, the Dodgers' bullpen would come in.
They'd give up the third run of the game, and
then in the eighth inning and an RBI ground out
that tied the game at four. What was the four
ninty lead was gone? Tyler glassnow no longer in the
(03:26):
mix for a decision. The Dodgers' bullpen gave it up again,
but the Dodgers offense in the bottom half of the
eighth inning would give the Dodgers the lead thanks to Mookie.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
Mookie walked and scored his first time up. Oh for two.
Otherwise two old pitch swang on and drilled data left
failed back.
Speaker 5 (03:45):
It goes gone.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
That's a home run for Mookie.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
Emma, Dodgers lead.
Speaker 5 (03:52):
At five to four.
Speaker 6 (03:56):
Oh, how do you like that?
Speaker 3 (03:58):
Mookie Bets emotional around the basis.
Speaker 9 (04:03):
What a shot three hundred and ninety four feet into
the pavilion and left center field for his thirteenth home
run of the season.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
Third pitch he saw from Robert Suarez, Mookie Betts turns
it around for a home run to left center field.
Home run number thirteen for a Mookie. What a moment,
perfect guy, perfect time, and he hits it out to
give the Dodgers a five to four lead.
Speaker 6 (04:30):
Alex Vessia said, give me the ball.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
I'm going back out there for the ninth inning, and
that's exactly what he did to close it out. Went
from a blown save to a win for Alex Vesia,
his third of the year. Dodgers finish off the Padres
with a five to four win. They get the series sweeping,
now seventy one and fifty three to two games up
in the division, and they look to keep that momentum
going in Colorado with the start of a four game
(04:55):
series against the Rockies. Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mount of
the series opener with more. We head out to the
Gallpin Motors broadcast booth as we say hello to Tim
Nevert and Rick Monday.
Speaker 4 (05:04):
Guys.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
All right, Tim, thank you very much. It's a beautiful
night in downtown Denver. Right in the lower Downtown section
at Corps Field, where the Dodgers and the Rockies are
set to start Game one of a four game series.
Yoshinobo Yamamoto celebrated his twenty seventh birthday yesterday. Will be
on the mound for the Dodgers. He's ten and eight
and a two eight four era. Kyle frielan the left
(05:26):
hander for the Rockies, he's three and twelve with a
five eighteen earn run average. That's the pitching matchup. But
the Dodgers coming off a sweep of the Podres and
the overwhelming theme I think in Dave Roberts presser down
on the dug out a little while ago, MO was,
how do you keep this team from letting down against
(05:46):
the Rockies after such an emotional series against the Padres.
Speaker 10 (05:51):
Yeah, well, I think first of all, you just look
at the standings and a brief chant with them with
Dave on the airplane last night coming to with the
Denver and I said, hey, look one of the things
that we saw kind of reappear was electricity. And he
looked at him, he goes exactly, he says, we played
with some electricity. We obviously they played with the with
the carrot in front of him, and that is to
(06:13):
get back in the first place, which is exactly what
they were able to do. So they're up two games.
Like to make it more, if you look at recent
history the Dodgers against the Rockies, it seems that, you know,
they're a pretty good situation. They've won each of the
last ten meetings going back to last year. However, the Rockies,
tim are a team that we have been looking at.
They're feeling pretty good about themselves. They just took three
(06:36):
out of four against Arizona. They won five of their
last six games, and yes, they're buried last place in
a Western division, but they've got some young players now
that are getting hungry to get some more victories.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
And in checking on that, the corner infielders tonight are
two of those young players. One's got a familiar name,
one does it warming Burnabole the first basement sitting three
h four for the Rockies, and Kyle Carrows, the son
of Eric Carros, is now the starting third baseman for
the Rockies. He's been swinging a pretty good bat. Yeah.
Speaker 10 (07:06):
And if you look at the Rockies overall, they've had
twelve different players this year make their major league debut,
including Carris and others. Their average age is the second
youngest team in the National League, only the Washington Nationals
by a few months younger than the Colorado Rockies. So
I guess they've made some mistakes, no question about it.
But if you look at their record thirty five and
(07:28):
eighty nine, Okay, fine, that's a tough pill to swallow,
but they're looking in the short range looking back winners
at five of their last six.
Speaker 3 (07:36):
One guy to look for in the Dodger lineup to
Seafield contribute tonight is the left fielder Alex call Kall's
going to start tonight against the left he Freeland. He's
also going to start tomorrow night against another left hander
in Austin gomber Dave Roberts was singing his praises, saying
he's fitting very well on this ball club, but he's
got to get some production going offensively. We'll see if
(07:56):
that starts tonight. Yeah, three for twenty one.
Speaker 10 (07:59):
Since he has on the ball club with the six strikeouts,
it just not really had good swings. But he knows
he's going to be in there. As you mentioned, each
of the next two games a chance to kind of
build up some menum and hopefully he has some better.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
Advanced One other thing they've talked about was he is
considering giving show Hey Otani a day off this week. Now,
show Hay doesn't like to take the days off, but
he does pitch Wednesday with a day game on Thursday,
so they've kind of circled that as a potential day
off for show It.
Speaker 10 (08:31):
Yeah, and this is a ball park also, you know,
almost a mile high. So yeah, it takes a little
bit more energy out of you. Yes, it drives you out.
And the Dodgers know full well when they come into town.
They don't arrive in town and then say, oh, I
need a hydrate. No, they began hydrating a few days ago.
And you have to do it if you're playing under
very warm conditions. That's exactly what we're going to see
(08:52):
here for all four days, including the last day in
It's going to be a day game and very hot
and very dry.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
Dodgers two games games up to the National League West,
the Rockies thirty six games behind. As we start playing tonight, Tim.
Speaker 1 (09:06):
All right, thank you guys. As we count you down
to first pitch. Dodger fans, get your game day meal
and Shaky's Pizza parlor. What are your Shaky's Pizza and
chicken Emojo's right now at shakyso dot com. Coming up
here on Morongo Casino Dodgers on deck. You are gonna
hear from the manager himself, Dave Roberts. We will check
in it with David me say we'll dive deeper into
(09:28):
this pitching match up up next. So you're Otani, rewind
and we'll visit with Kirsten Watson live from the field
and Denver, Colorado.
Speaker 6 (09:39):
Is it?
Speaker 1 (09:39):
Dodgers take on the Rockies on this Monday afternoon, first
pitch at five forty.
Speaker 6 (09:44):
Thanks for being with us.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
I'm Tim kase is the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers
audio nowhere.
Speaker 8 (09:51):
Well, this is Morongo Casino Dodgers hunt game on your
home for La Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
Dodgers in Denver, and say, take on the Rockies.
Speaker 6 (10:02):
Game one of this four game set.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound, first pitch from corsfield, coming
up at five forty.
Speaker 4 (10:09):
This is the Otani re what bo ball?
Speaker 3 (10:12):
Two strike pitch to show head and he'll swing and
rip it to right field. A base hit, leadoff single
for Otani. He's been on base now on fifteen straight games.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
Show Hey Otani yesterday with the leadoffs single to write
in the first inning. He would score later in the
first on the Freddie Freeman three run home run. Dodgers
yesterday swept the Padres with a five to four win.
Speaker 8 (10:37):
This is Kirston's corner with Kirston Watson.
Speaker 1 (10:42):
Hey, Kearson now joins us from coors Field in Denver.
Brought to you by Cars for Kids. Ready to donate that
old car? Call eight seven seven Cars for Kids right now,
friendly agents, anybody take your donation.
Speaker 6 (10:51):
That's Cars with the K to donate your car today.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
Dodgers fresh off with the sweep of the San Diego
Padres Kirston and now they take on the last place
Colorado Rockies.
Speaker 6 (11:01):
They cannot afford a letdown.
Speaker 4 (11:05):
No they can.
Speaker 11 (11:06):
And I'm you know, talking to Robert's talking to a
couple of guys. They're not going to have that because
with what they were able to do against the Padres,
I'm like, look, this is something you can't guarantee what's
going to happen in these games. Obviously, the Rockies, those
are big league players over there. I love what Luky
Betts likes to say. They drivene cars as well. So
you can't control anything. But when it comes to just
(11:28):
the mindset on the attitude of this group coming into
this series, it is clear that things feel a little
bit different. We saw complete baseball games against the Padres.
We saw how the bullpen was able to get back
and going, and even I was talking to Alex Vesiet.
He was saying, if you look at last year, you
know there was a moment with which there was a
shift in the bullpen in the mindset, and that's when
(11:49):
we saw the quote unquote the dogs come out. And
he said, that's been happening recently with their group this year,
and so there's that feeling if the dog's showing up
and then playing to get there. And they understand also
just how meaningful these games are. So the standings are
still close. The Padres are only two games back. The
Dodgers were for some reason to lose these games in Colorado,
(12:11):
that would then shift with things look like facing the
Padres again this upcoming weekend. So it's still they understand
these games are still very important moving forward.
Speaker 1 (12:20):
One guy who really had a strong finish to the
weekend as Alex Vessio, a little rocky in the first
part of the series against the Padres, but yesterday to
come in and close it out like he did, he
was fantastic.
Speaker 11 (12:31):
Yeah, and he was someone he after he was in
that eighth inning, he said he wanted the ninth they
were going to be ahead, and then of course Lukie
Bitz has the home run going to the home run.
He said, if he can have that ninth inning, then
he wants it. And there was something in regard for
Alex It was he felt like she had it and
used too many bullets. He felt good kind of if
he was to take down the night, he just kind
(12:51):
of had a different confidence and energy. He had shifted
a few things mechanically that he was working on to
get back on track, and so Brim it was just
this one pitch out of time. He did just that,
and he's got the two pop ups and then for
that strikeout against Machado, he's a just feeling the energy
off of the crowded Dodgers stadium, the moment, all of it.
Speaker 7 (13:10):
It was huge.
Speaker 11 (13:10):
So he's glad he got that moment, and he's glad
that it was a confidence booster and he's someone who
also can now build off of this and keep going forward.
Speaker 6 (13:18):
No doubt about it.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
Dodgers need to keep building off that sweep of the
San Diego Padres curious and we appreciate it. We'll check
you with you after the game still to come here
on Marongo Casino.
Speaker 6 (13:26):
Dodgers on Deck will dive.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
Deeper into this pitching matchup David ve Sego is one
on one with Andre eh here.
Speaker 6 (13:30):
But up next we'll hear from the manager Dave Roberts.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
It's the Dodgers and Rockies series opener from cours Field
in Denver's coming up at five point forty. I'm Tim Kass,
the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 4 (13:45):
This is Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck on your home
for the blue all season long long.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
Morongo Causino Dodgers on Deck. Can see news as we
walk you up to the first pitch from the Mile
High City Dodgers and the Rockies. Moroango Casino Resort and
Spa A grand slam for good times. Yoshinobu Yamamoto on
the mound, first pitch set for five forty.
Speaker 8 (14:11):
It's the LA Dodgers Injury Report presented by UCLA Healthy,
Official medical partner of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
Max Munsey on the iel at the right oblique injury,
Rock Stewart on the iel at the right shoulder inflammation.
Kirby Yates, Tanner, Scott Rookie Sasaki, all working their way back.
Is Michael Kopek. David vass Aid's got an update on
keyk Hernandez in his left elbows store and is what
is the latest for Kik? How close could he be returning?
David's got the latest coming up in just a couple
of minutes. All right, let's head back out to the
(14:40):
Mile High City as we check in with the Dodger Skipper.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
Any questions for Dave, Dave? Can you just describe Dave?
Can you talk about the pressure in.
Speaker 12 (14:50):
The dugouts with Dave Roberts, Well, I think it. I
like what we did obviously, what we did this past weekend.
I like that Yoshnobho's taking them ount tonight. I think
to come back and bounce back from his last outing.
I think I'm looking forward to that. I think also
(15:12):
now we'll're at you know, mid to late August, all
these games matter, and so I don't expect to let down.
I expect those guys over there to really come after
us and play without, you know, with nothing to lose.
And so we've seen Freeland a lot over the years
and just go out there and.
Speaker 3 (15:30):
Do what we do.
Speaker 13 (15:31):
In that Padre series from the Bullpen, we saw them
get back on track and have key moments, whether it's
ale Secia or others. How much of a confidence booster
do you think it was for some of these players,
just reminding them that their stuff plays at the highest
of levels against the best of the best.
Speaker 12 (15:45):
It's good and there's kind of ebbs and flows in
a season offensively pitching wise, but to have success in
a big spot it's always helpful for the confidence for anyone.
And so I do think that you know, whether it's Blake,
whether it's Alex Vessia, whether it's Casipie and different guys
like that that came up in big spots, it's certainly
(16:05):
something that these guys can build on.
Speaker 3 (16:07):
What do you do to make sure there's not a
let down?
Speaker 7 (16:10):
Do you talk to guys individually?
Speaker 3 (16:12):
You do things to get a kind of the temperature.
Speaker 4 (16:15):
Of the room.
Speaker 12 (16:18):
I get a temperature of the room, I can kind
of hear conversations, you know, from afar and we're in
a good spot, and so I don't expect I'm not
getting to lax, and our coaches aren't, and I don't
expect our players too. So I don't think it's it's
(16:41):
not really something that's tangible, but I can just I
just know that it's not gonna happen, and I can't
guarantee how the game is gonna play out, but the
the focus will be there tonight.
Speaker 10 (16:51):
Well you kind of have the Padres in the ruby here,
but also on the windshield because you're coming up.
Speaker 6 (16:55):
I mean, this is that series between there.
Speaker 4 (16:58):
Yeah, that's exactly right.
Speaker 12 (16:59):
You know, we put ourselves in a tough spot, you know,
for two weeks and obviously had a good weekend and
you know these four games can change that again. And
then also obviously seeing those guys at their place in
four days.
Speaker 4 (17:12):
So we've got work to do here.
Speaker 12 (17:15):
We are in control of things, but yeah, we've got
to focus on right now, but things can change pretty quickly.
Speaker 1 (17:21):
All right, there's a manager, Dave Roberts. Yeah, he's absolutely right.
Dodgers need to take care of business in Colorado. The
Padres have four games against the lowly giants, who you
know they're going to take care of business against. Dodgers
need to do the same exact thing in Denver against
these Rockies. All right, still to come here, I'm Roco Casino,
Dodgers on deck.
Speaker 6 (17:39):
We'll check in with the David vassays.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
I told you he's got an update on KEYK Hernandez.
Speaker 6 (17:45):
That's coming up next.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
I'm Tim kas Is, the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers
Audio Network.
Speaker 8 (17:52):
As we were saying, yes, he's Morongo Casino Dodgers on
Jack on the official home of La Dodge Baseball.
Speaker 1 (18:02):
It's the Dodgers and the Rockies started a four game set.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Kyle Friedlan the pitching matchup.
Speaker 6 (18:09):
First pitch, coming up five forty.
Speaker 4 (18:12):
Joining Tim kats on Dodgers on deck.
Speaker 5 (18:15):
I accept everybody for who they are.
Speaker 4 (18:17):
This is Dodger insider David Bassi.
Speaker 6 (18:20):
All right, DV the Dodgers in Colorado.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
They cannot have a letdown coming off this great weekend
in which they really took it to the Padres.
Speaker 2 (18:30):
Yeah, and Clayton Kershaw set the tone on Friday night.
Blake Snell continued that on Saturday and then yesterday, obviously
the Dodgers were not thrilled that they tied the game,
but Mookie Betts with the heroics in the eighth inning,
but also Freddy Freeman with a big three.
Speaker 5 (18:47):
Run home run in the first inning.
Speaker 8 (18:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 14 (18:50):
Obviously, coming off of the Angel series wrong and played better,
and we obviously did that.
Speaker 6 (18:54):
Starts with starting pitching, our starting pitching.
Speaker 14 (18:56):
This whole series was great and we didn't score many runs.
After the first Mookie Mooky got the one we needed.
I mean, Muky's been doing really well in the last
couple of weeks, so I think I've been saying it
all season. Mookie Bets' is Mooki Betts and he's gonna
be just fine. And he'showed it right there.
Speaker 2 (19:11):
We all know that Mooki Betts has been trying to
find his way and even went to Leanks to reach
out to his old teammate JD Martinez, who really has
helped Mooki in his career. But Freddy Freeman has a
big part in Mookie Betts getting back on track. In
his last eleven games, Mookie Betts is hitting three forty
one with two home runs and nine RBIs. His on
(19:33):
base percentage is at four hundred, and it was Freddy
Freeman that gave him some batting tips to keep his
shoulders more still, which also enables him not to have
as much head movement. So even though Mooki went to
go see JD. Martinez, he's got one of the best
hitters as his teammate. Over the last fifteen to twenty years.
Speaker 1 (19:55):
David is brought to you by the twenty twenty five
for FN fifty from California's best selling It's time to
see Ford in a new light forward for America from America.
Speaker 6 (20:05):
Can Mookie keep it rolling here? David?
Speaker 2 (20:08):
Well, all they need is some production from Mooki, and
they have seen it in his last eleven games. They
don't need thirty nine home run Mookie Betts. What they
do need is a number two hitter that can make
productive outs, that can also do what he did yesterday
and be able to get to some high leverage relievers
when the Dodgers needed most. So they don't need thirty
(20:31):
nine home runs. But in the last eleven games, like
I just mentioned, Tim Mooki is starting to show signs
that he can contribute and be a productive member of
the first four or five hitters in this lineup.
Speaker 6 (20:43):
All right, we teasa David. You got an update on
Key k, Herdnandez.
Speaker 1 (20:46):
Is he getting closed to return into this Dodger team?
Speaker 5 (20:50):
Yes, yes he is.
Speaker 2 (20:52):
He's headed out on a rehab assignment beginning tomorrow. I
actually don't believe it's Oklahoma City. He may be going
to join the double A Tulsa team, and from what
I've been told, there's a very good chance that keik
A Hernandez will return to the Dodgers at the beginning
of the next home stand.
Speaker 1 (21:11):
That's exciting news, David. Great Stuff will check back in
with you in just a couple of minutes.
Speaker 4 (21:15):
Dave.
Speaker 1 (21:15):
It's gonna go one on one with Andre Ether coming
up in fifteen minutes. Dodger fans don't want to miss
that still to come. We're gonna break down this pitching
matchup as well. But up next your Dodgers Magical moment.
So we lead you up to Dodgers and Rockies from
the Mile High City, Denver, Colorado. I'm Tim kase Is
the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 8 (21:38):
This is Morongo Casino Dodgers Hunts game on your home
for La Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 1 (21:46):
Dodgers look to keep the winning going after the three
game sweep of the Padres. Now they're in Denver to
take on the Rockies. Yoshinobu Yamamoto in this series opener,
first pitch set for five forty.
Speaker 4 (22:01):
Who wants that It's time for the Hawfe Magical Moment.
Speaker 8 (22:06):
It's Magical presented by Hawby Hot Dogs.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
We go back to September twenty fifth, twenty sixteen, at
Dodgers Stadium, Dodgers taking on the Colorado Rockies. It was
Vin Scully's final home game ever at the Ravine, and
Charlie Culberson make it a day.
Speaker 6 (22:24):
Will all remember.
Speaker 3 (22:27):
Bottom of the tenth, tied at three, Boom Logan, the
lefty set and the pitch to Culberson.
Speaker 5 (22:35):
There's a fly ball the left field. Did they do it?
Speaker 9 (22:39):
Charlie Colberson a'll walk off home run.
Speaker 3 (22:44):
The Dodgers win the West for the fourth consecutive year.
Speaker 5 (22:50):
But this win is.
Speaker 9 (22:51):
For Vin, and Charlie Colberson is a man who's done it.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
Charlie Steiner with the call. It was Vin Skull his
final home game. We'll all remember that day. Charlie Culberson
with the walk off home runs. The Dodgers beat the
Rockies and clenched the NL West's Hofey Magical Moment rocking
by Hofey Hot Dogs, So Cow's local treasure for nearly
one hundred years. Haffy hot Dogs local and so great. Well,
(23:18):
we continue here on Dodgers on Deck. We will send
it back out to David Vatsa and Rick Monday.
Speaker 6 (23:24):
We'll lead you up.
Speaker 1 (23:25):
To first pitch on this Monday Dodgers and Rockies. I'm
Tim Kase, the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 4 (23:33):
This is Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck on your home
for the Blue all season long.
Speaker 1 (23:42):
Dodgers and Rockies, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Kyle Freelan.
Speaker 6 (23:47):
The pitching matchup.
Speaker 1 (23:48):
First pitch from Course Field is coming up at five
forty time now for the Verizon startup as we are
thirty five minutes away from the start of the game.
Now at Verizon you can lock in your low price
for three years so you can save big.
Speaker 6 (24:01):
Visit the Rise in store today and now.
Speaker 8 (24:04):
Joined by David Maasse. Here's La Dodgers broadcaster and World
Series champion Dodger Rick Monday.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
Well, Rick, the Dodgers are coming off that high of
sweeping the San Diego Padres, but they got four games
starting tonight at Course Field against the Rockies they have
to take care.
Speaker 10 (24:24):
Of well, David, are you ready for some baseball? Because
you know the lights are on here even though most
of the field is still in some sunshine here in Denver.
For this Dodger ball club. I mean they finally started
to play with some electricity. One of the things that
in brief conversation with Dave Roberts getting on the Dodgers
team plane last night out of Burbank in flying here
(24:46):
and he goes, yeah, I said, we finally got some excitement,
some electricity. And I know there were a lot of
people were happy because big big crowns for all three
of those games. And don't overlook the colormade of Rockies
because one of the things that Tim Never and I
were talking about earlier, you know, the Rockies took three
out of four against Arizona in the series that just
(25:07):
ended yesterday. In a bigger picture, I mean they're talking
here in Denver said, hey, our guys have won five
out of the last six. That's a big deal for
a ball club. Is thirty five and eighty nine for
the year.
Speaker 5 (25:18):
No doubt about it. And how about this Rick.
Speaker 2 (25:20):
We're gonna get our first look at Kyle Carros, who
made his major league debut last week.
Speaker 10 (25:26):
Yeah, and for Carros coming in, he's been in ten games.
And one of the things just talking to some of
the Rockies broadcast is well, what can you tell us,
because well, first of all, sung Man can play, and
if we look at the bigger picture really with the
Rockies overall, you know, only the Nationals, the Washington Nationals,
(25:46):
have a younger roster than what the Rockies have. And
I say that because Caros is one of twelve players
to make their major league debut for the Rockies this season.
So a young ball club in but they are playing
better baseball. And with Warren Shaffer who's taken over as
interim manager as Bud Black and some of the other
(26:07):
coaches departed, you know, they have not been really a
fire storm so far. But they've got some young players
that are anxious, they're hungry, and they're learning in a
very difficult classroom at times. That's a developing at the
major league level.
Speaker 2 (26:23):
Rick, I'm not sure if you ever had these type
of situations where you're coming off playing one of the
better teams in baseball and the team that you're fighting
the division for, and then have to play a team
that's at the bottom of the division. How do you
get up for these games? Do you have to channel
something extra?
Speaker 10 (26:40):
I think it's focus. I think it's focused, and I
think the other part too, is the tangible part, and
that's pride. This is a ball club. If we look
at the Dodgers, I think not only the team, the
organization and the city too for that matter. I think
there's a great deal of pride in the product that
gets put on the field and how they play, how
(27:02):
they represent themselves, how they represent the organization, and how
they represent the city of Los Angeles, and not just
sound corny. I've always believed that, and I think that
that's motivation within itself to make sure, Hey, look you're
up to the challenge, because everyone wants to come out
in a positive end.
Speaker 2 (27:22):
The Dodgers have show Hey, Otani seemingly getting back to
sting within himself.
Speaker 3 (27:26):
Rick.
Speaker 2 (27:27):
I know nobody really said his name too much during
that series against the Padres, but he did a lot
of things that told me that maybe he's not trying
to swing for the fences as much.
Speaker 10 (27:37):
Yeah, strikeouts is still an issue, one hundred and fifty
strikeouts already, and tonight will be game number one hundred
and twenty three that Otani has played in. But if
we look at the last fifteen games, David also Otani's
hit at a three eighty pace, then maybe gets overlooked
because the billboard and the and I think the flashlight,
(27:59):
if you will, of the spotlight that it gets put
on him is enormous. And how he's able to maintain
both the hitting aspect and the pitching aspect, because he's
going to pitch the finale here in this series, or
actually he's going to go in you know, he'll go
in game three of this four game series, and then
(28:21):
kershow in the final game in the afternoon game, So
I don't know how he really handles both areas. And
then on top of it, you know the pressure, the
expectations that everyone has in every ballpark that we go to.
Speaker 3 (28:35):
And if you're talking.
Speaker 10 (28:35):
Baseball, if you have a conversation more than two or
three minutes about the game of baseball, period, regardless of
where you are, how do you leave out the name
of show Hey Otani in that conversation.
Speaker 2 (28:46):
No doubt about it. Rick, look forward to hearing the
call tonight. One thing is for sure, you won't let
down during this series.
Speaker 10 (28:52):
Hey David, let me just pass along a hello from
all of us and the guys in the dugout. Also,
I cannot tell you and express enough how much they're
enjoying the fact that you're in Los Angeles and here
they're here in Denver. See in San Diego. We'll see
in San Diego.
Speaker 5 (29:08):
Belt sounds good, Rick.
Speaker 2 (29:09):
We'll talk later there, he goes Rick Monday at Corusfield.
For now, we'll send it back to Tim Kates.
Speaker 1 (29:14):
All right, thanks a lot, DV. That's the Dodger plan.
Dodger fans, you need a game plan too. How about
starting your future to California Community College. Financial aids available
to help you with books, tuition, sometimes even the rent
fall classes are starting soon, so well quickly, and I
can go to college dot Com. Still to come here
on Dodgers on Deck, we'll get the keys to the game.
(29:35):
We'll have deeper into these pitching matchups. But up next
we go high and tight with Andre Ethier. It's a
Dodgers and the Rockies. First pitch from Colorado at five
forty of Tim Kass the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers
Audio Network.
Speaker 8 (29:51):
As we were saying yes is Marongo Casino Dodgers on
Deck on the official home of La Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 1 (30:03):
Dodgers on the road in Denver, Colorado, as they started
a four game series against the Rockies, fresh off of
three games sweep with the San Diego Padres. Yoshinobu Yamamoto
on the Dodgers Baseball is brought to by Shaky's Pizza Parlor,
the official pizza partner of the Dodgers audio broadcast, went
into game night. It's group night at shakys dot Com.
Speaker 8 (30:22):
David, now, what will likely be vasse fielding insults from
a Dodger player.
Speaker 6 (30:28):
It's an engagement of endearment.
Speaker 4 (30:29):
This is high and tight.
Speaker 2 (30:31):
We're drawn right now by a man that spent his
entire twelve year major league career wearing Dodger blue. He
left it all out on the field and he still
is connected to the franchise. Yesterday at Dodgers Stadium, before
the Dodgers swept the Padres, Andre Ethier was out there
in centerfield plaza, meeting, greeting, kissing babies and being part
(30:54):
of the people of Dodgers Stadium. And that good Andre
Ethier karma showed out yesterday as the Dodgers swept the Padres,
and Andre was part of the Jim Beam experience at
Dodger Stadium yesterday and Andre joins us right now.
Speaker 5 (31:10):
Dre great to have you on the show.
Speaker 2 (31:12):
It was even better to have you at Dodger Stadium yesterday.
Speaker 7 (31:17):
It's Dave. Yeah, I don't think the day could have
been any better for a regular season game. Weather was perfect,
big game, big meaningful game against the the only claimed
from one side our rivals, not our side, but their
side obviously claimed being our rival, and uh hanging out
(31:38):
like you said, with Jim Beam out and right filled
the plaza, you know, having great samples of their uh
you know, Liicettle mixed uh pineapple, mango, Jim Beam drink
that we were out there sampling all day. So it
was a great day. And then of course ended up
with a big series sweep win in with our guy
(32:01):
Mookie coming through and with a big clutch hit there
at the eighth and you know, had a great day
of doing it.
Speaker 5 (32:08):
You got to.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
Tell everybody that these games mean something. The vibes obviously
were a lot different going into Friday night compared to
where they were after Sunday's game. Does that mean something
when you're playing even in August.
Speaker 7 (32:22):
Yeah, And I think it means something too. And I
think you can see just being at home, uh how
kind of just rejuvenates you and gets you just walked
in a little bit more there. There's there's always something
and I've heard multiple guys who've come here and say
it over the years. You know, there's just a vibe.
A few a few cities have it, uh, you know,
(32:43):
New York, Boston, Chicago, you know those big cities kind
of have that vibe to them, that feel, and you know,
as a player, there's nothing better than you know, having
a Rustler stretch and knowing you have a big series
coming up, coming back to LA and just kind of
film that vibe, that energy of the city, of the fans,
(33:05):
and getting to play back at the under stadium that
kind of just blocks you back in, doesn't matter what
time of year it is. And I know I felt
over my career to where you just, man, the dog
days are happening and all of a sudden, that plane's
come and landing into LA and it just kind of
that kind of gives you a little second win. You
show up to the stadium, you can fill the energy
(33:25):
and you know that's that's the biggest thing that always
you didn't want to get in the top of saying
you know, this is just a regular season game, doesn't
really mean anything more. You know, once you get to
the playoffs. Well, you still got to get to the playoffs,
and the team definitely showed up and showed that they're
you know, playing with that type of of headspace and
frame of mind with you know, Gains still there in August.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
Obviously you brought it every night, and Andre Ethier is
our guest, you brought it every night. You were so focused,
so intense. But can you describe what it's like when
you play behind Kershaw and just what Dave Roberts mention
how the focus seems to be heightened when he's on
the mound. It felt like that really carried over all
(34:06):
three games.
Speaker 7 (34:08):
Well, it's hard not to. You're on a team and
a guy who's been with the team this long and
only team this long, you've always you've obviously had to
perform a certain way, and the way he's performed is
is elite, elite, the first ballot Hall of Famer. I
think I saw a staff the other day that he's
now run number one or close to being number one
(34:32):
for run prevention yea, as a pitch. I don't know
if he saw that's a right like for keeping runs
off the board. He's number one all time. So there's
a lot of credit to the way he does his madness.
And you know, for and I think his madness has
been stepped down and toned down a ton from what
he first was. But you know, you hear the stories
of when he was young guy, like it was on
(34:54):
pins and needles for the entire clubhouse. When he would
come in and starts. He had certain routines, starting certain
to amount of time, and he would throw them all
of a certain spot and you couldn't go down that
hallway and go because he was throwing that ball. And
if he got his way, he gave you that look like,
you know, get out of my way. You should know
my routine. He had a certain table reserved in the
in the training table, and you knew from a certain
(35:16):
time that you didn't go near that training table or
even try to start treatment on there because he was
going to come in at a certain time and be
on that table. That was his routine. That's what made
him the best, That's what made this team the best.
Everyone respected it. And he's and he's done that now
for eighteen years and it's amazing to see that he's
able to have that type of concentration and that type
(35:39):
of you know, dominance over this run and he's still
doing it. And you could see that guy stepped up
and kind of fell online here from the series and
follow Lee like you're saying, and made these guys dig
deep and realize, Hey, we're out here just to float
and figure out if we can get there, we're going
to take it ourselves. And I think that's kind of
the attitude you saw started there, you know in that
first game of the series.
Speaker 2 (36:00):
Hey, there's a reason why fans react the way they
do when they see you because they know that you
never left anything on the field. You left it all
on the field. So awesome to see you back out
there yesterday. And let's keep it rolling and we'll talk
to you soon.
Speaker 7 (36:16):
I hope to see you out in right field here
into the month. Maybe we can get a little Jim
Beam Pineapple slushie together out there and call the game
if you're not too busy up the pretending to be
you know, doing something in the press box for the game.
Speaker 5 (36:31):
Ooh, I love that.
Speaker 2 (36:32):
Maybe we'll post up at the home run seats in
right field too.
Speaker 7 (36:36):
Oh yeah, maybe we'll do that. That's that's one of mean,
your favorite things to do is catch a game in
the home run seats and our favorite uncle uncle Lon
to hopefully get us some tickets out there.
Speaker 3 (36:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (36:48):
If I'm with you, he'll he'll deliver. If it was
just me, it'd be no Chancey.
Speaker 2 (36:56):
Thanks Ray, great to hear your voice, and we'll see
at Dodger Stadium soon.
Speaker 7 (37:00):
Yeah. Yeah, good luck out there in Colorado and keep
it going.
Speaker 3 (37:04):
All right.
Speaker 2 (37:05):
There he goes the man, the myth, the legend, Andre Ethier,
number sixteen, and we'll send it back to you in
the studio.
Speaker 6 (37:12):
Tim, all right, thanks lot DV. Thank you Andre eighth.
Heer lean you out to first pitch from Denver. I'm next.
Speaker 1 (37:17):
We'll dive deep into this pitching matchup. Don't go anywhere.
I'm Tim Kasey is the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers
Audio Network.
Speaker 4 (37:26):
This is Morongo Casino Dodgers Hunting game on your home
for La Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 1 (37:34):
It's the Dodgers and the Rockies from Denver, the start
of a four game set. Dodgers looking to continue what
they did over the weekend of the Padres sweeping San Diego,
looking to get going after a last place Rockies team tonight,
first pitch at five forty.
Speaker 8 (37:48):
And now before the Dodgers hit the din neck, we
look at the pitching matchup.

Speaker 6 (38:03):
They make it easy.
Speaker 1 (38:04):
Hasn't been easy for Kyle frielan three and twelve with
a five eighteen ERA thirty two year old left hander,
ninth season in the big leagues, all with the Rockies.
Making his twenty third start this year last time out
seven to the third, shutout innings, his second longest outing
of his career, five hits, two strikeouts. He's got the
win over the Cardinals. He's gone five and eleven with
the four eighty one eer Ray in twenty four career
(38:27):
starts against the Dodgers. He last faced them September of
last year at Dodgers Stadium. He last faced the Dodgers
at Course Field in June of twenty twenty three. Allowed
six runs on four hits over five innings and give
up a career high five walks, but actually got.
Speaker 6 (38:40):
A win for the Rockies.
Speaker 1 (38:42):
Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound for the Dodgers ten and eight,
two eighty four Eerra, the twenty seven year old right
hander in his second season out with the Dodgers.
Speaker 6 (38:50):
Twenty four start.
Speaker 1 (38:51):
He ranks him on the nationality leaders and opponents batting average, RRAY,
whip and strikeouts. Last time out that great four and
two third innings, six runs, six hits, five walks, six strikeouts,
and the loss of the Angels last week in Anaheim.
He is three to zero with a three thirty two
ERA and four career starts against the Rockies, including a
win earlier this year in Denbury, where he pitched five
(39:13):
scoreless innings. Dodgers Rockies Yoshinobu Yamamoto Kyle Freeland.
Speaker 6 (39:19):
The pitching matchup.
Speaker 1 (39:20):
We're fifteen minutes away from first pitch from Denver.
Speaker 6 (39:23):
He's to the game. Our next don't go anywhere.
Speaker 1 (39:26):
I'm Tim Kates is the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers

Speaker 8 (39:33):
This is Marongo Casino Dodgers on deck on your home
for the Blue All season long.
Speaker 1 (39:43):
It's a Dodgers and the Colorado Rockies is a start
at four games series Dodgers first places the top of
the NL West Rockies, bringing up the rear Yoshinobo Yamamoto
Kyle Freeland. The pitching matchup first pitch from Coursefield is
coming up in five forty Before that, though, one final
check back out to the booth with Tim never at
Rick Monday, Guys.
Speaker 3 (40:01):
Tim, thanks again, I'm gonna get you ready for the
first pitch tonight and looking for a key. One of
the keys certainly is going to see how Yoshinobu Yamamoto
bounces back from what could be arguably his worst start
of his major league career against the Angels, when he
walked five and gave up six earned runs in his
last time. So the key is going to be how
(40:23):
Yamamoto performs.
Speaker 10 (40:24):
He had and that was only at four and two
thirds innings. On the flip side of the coin, the
Dodgers know Kyle Freeland. Has he changed inning? Probably not
I mention that, because he's made already twenty four career
starts against the Dodgers. How's he fared? Well, He's five
and eleven if you look at the record. However, half
of those twenty four starts have been quality starts where
(40:45):
he's going to at least six innings, three earned runs
or less against this Dodger ball club.
Speaker 3 (40:50):
Both starters are in the bottom six in terms of
run support from their teams. But we're at Coors Field,
so anything can happen tonight in terms of the score.
We'll see how it goes. Yoshinobu Yamamoto ten and eight,
Kyle Freeland three and twelve, just one in five at
home for the Rockies starter Tim all Right.
Speaker 1 (41:09):
Dodgers start the Knight two games up in the NL West.
They take on the Rockies the Padres, who the Dodgers
will see again this coming weekend.
Speaker 6 (41:17):
In San Diego.
Speaker 1 (41:19):
They are taking on the San Francisco Giants with the
start of the four game set. Dodgers looking to keep
the pace going after a sweet forward the weekend of
the Padres, looking to take care of business against them
last place Rockies.
Speaker 6 (41:32):
First Bitch is next.
Speaker 1 (41:33):
When it's over, David Vessaid's got you cover with all
the postgame highlights.
Speaker 6 (41:36):
