Welcome to Dodgers on Tech. Now your host walking you
up to first pitch.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
Tim kas Hi, everybody, and welcome into Morongo Casino. Dodgers
on deck on this warm Thursday, soon to be afternoon,
as we can lead you up to first pitch from
the Mile High City. You're world champion Los Angeles Dodgers
wrapping up this four game series in Denver against the
Colorado Rockies. Dodgers seventy two and fifty five first place

(01:05):
atop the NL West, but they're leading the division is
down to just one game over the San Diego Padres
after dropping two of the first three games in Denver,
the Dodgers go for the split this afternoon with Clayton
Kershaw on the mound, first pitching Cruise Field coming up
at twelve ten. Between then and now, we got a
lot to cover here on Moronggo Casino Dodgers on deck.

(01:27):
You are gonna hear from the Dodger manager Dave Roberts.
Coming up in about twenty minutes, we'll preview this pitching matchup.
David Veasse goes one on one with Blake Trning. We
got your Dodgers magical moment. Shortly we'll get you an
injury update. We'll go live to the field Kirsten Watson
from Sports in NLA and at just a few minutes
we will head out to the Galpin Motors Broadcast be

(01:47):
with with Tim Nevert and Rick Monday.

Speaker 6 (01:50):
Well.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Last night it was show Hey Otani making his first
regular season start at Cruis Field, and it didn't go
as plan. Otani from the game after four plus innings
of work gave up five runs on nine hits, struck
out three, but the Rockies got to him in the
second inning with a pair of runs. They tagged him

(02:12):
up for three more in the bottom half of the
fourth inning, including a line drive off of his right thigh.
He stayed in the game and finished, but he would
leave the game after his next at Batmore on that
coming up throughout the show. The Dodgers offense, meanwhile, really
struggled last night, and they struggled as a guy who
had been struggling himself and Tanner Gordon, the twenty seven

(02:33):
year old right hander. The Dodgers finally him the sixth
inning broke through. They sa ta Oscar, so these games.

Speaker 7 (02:39):
In Colorado very important. Hitting into the weekend. The Dodgers
would like to have a little breathing room. But it
looked like they're gonna get Mutch. This ball hit deep
to right field. This one headed back to the wall,
and it's gone. Tai Oscar Hernandez home run number twenty one.
An opposite field shot up over the scoreboard and the
Dodgers on the board.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
It's five to one.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
Tay Oscar Hernandez goes deep home run number twenty one
as the Dodgers finally break through down five to one. However,
the Rockies would answer back in the bottom half of
the sixth inned as Hunter Goodman delivers with an RBIs
single that extended the lead. Back up to five. It
was a six to one Rockies lead. It was eight

(03:22):
to one after Goodman then hit into a two run
double in the eighth in need. Things were getting away
from the Dodgers fast, and the ninth in need they
cut it down a little bit thanks to Miguel Rojas.

Speaker 7 (03:32):
Here's a two to zero on the way, and Freeland's
gonna go take second. This Paul Is smashed to the
left field and deep. This one's going to go back
and it is off the warning track and off the wall.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
PI his is in.

Speaker 7 (03:44):
Here comes Freeland in the score and a two out,
two run double for Miguel Rojas makes it eight to three.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
Miguel Rojas is tenth double of the season. RBIs sixteen
and seventeen too little, too late. Dodgers fall to the
Rockies last night eight to three. The final, the Colorado
Rockies scored eight runs on sixteen hits against show Hey
o'tani and the Dodgers bullpen. Meanwhile, the Dodgers scored three

(04:12):
runs on six hits during that game, as the Dodgers
saw Will Smith go oh for four. Last night, Andy
Potjez was Ozero for four, Michael confordoh for four, the
offense just could not string together the hits they needed,
Thus they lose again to the Rockies. Dodgers have dropped
two to three so far in this four game series.
Their lead in the Division is down to one over

(04:33):
the San Diego Padres. And who do they turn to today?
The future Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw on the mound.
First pitch from Corsfield is coming up at twelve to ten,
and with more, let's head out to the Galpin Motors
broadcast booth as we say hello to Tim Nevertt and
Rick Monday.

Speaker 7 (04:46):
Guys, Tim, thanks very much. It's a gorgeous afternoon here
in lower downtown Denver at cors Field as the Dodgers
and Rockies goot sent for the fourth and final game
of this four game set. And what a series that's
been for the Rockies, not for the Dodgers. A lot
of folks expected the Dodgers to come in here and
roll against Major League Baseball's worst team, but the Rockies

(05:08):
have taken two of the first three, and now the
Dodgers are playing today just to survive a four game split.

Speaker 5 (05:15):
Yeah, the Dodgers not on a roll. In fact, they
may have been mugged in two of the three games
so far in this series, and since the All Star Break,
who would have fought. The Rockies have a better record
than the Dodgers in that time. Rockies are fifteen and sixteen.
Dodgers are fourteen and sixteen. Rockies have won five for
the last six for the Dodgers in one game lead
over San Diego. But yesterday I think somewhat indicative of

(05:37):
what happens really since the first of August, no question
about it, go back to the All Star break. For example,
last night, base running mistake in the very first inning
and the fourth inning, back cut off and relay alignment
that's happened again and again. Did not anticipate a chance
for a double play ball. There was a throw to
the wrong base. There was a failed to back up

(05:58):
a base also, And just pointing these out because the
manager told me a long time ago, difficult to improve
things if they are not acknowledged, and we're seeing mistakes
over and over. I know it's frustrating for Dave Roberts.
First of all, he's got a lot of guys that
are not healthy. They're not here, so you've got a
supplemental group, No question about that, and the Dodgers have

(06:19):
not performed particularly well of recent times, and their record shows.

Speaker 7 (06:22):
It and todayday that they really need to win a
ball game and still might their game up on the
Padres as it stands heading into a weekend series with them,
no show Hey Otani in the lineup, no taoscar Hernandez
in the lineup. In fact, Dave Roberts told show, Hey,
sleep in today, come to the ballpark late, just take
a full day off.

Speaker 5 (06:43):
The only question is going to be we don't know
the answer to this. We may not know until tomorrow.
What about the condition of the right leg of Otani
gun hip at the line drive about eight ten inches
above his right knee that had to hurt. Imagine there's
going to be a bruise there. How much does it
affect him and how much will it possibly affect him
over the next few days. We'll find out. In the meantime,

(07:03):
the Dodgers, if you talk about juggling their lineup, BET's
deleted off. Freddy Freeman batting second, Will Smith, the designated hitter,
Michael Kinfordo will beat in the four spud. Alex friedlan
is at third, the Adulton rushing behind the plate, Piz
in center, Alex call Is in right field, with Tiascar
Hernaniz not in the lineup in Miguil Rojas at Saca base.

(07:25):
This is not a lineup that the Dodgers are accustomed
to seeing.

Speaker 7 (07:28):
A roster change too. As far as the bullpen is concerned,
Paul Gervais, who pitched two innings last night, was up
for just the day Dodgers got to look at him.
He's been optioned back to Triple A. Matt Sower, who
began the year on the active roster over in Japan,
is back with the club, a right hander coming out
of the bullpen today. So that is the roster move
and expecting more roster moves as the calendar progresses here shortly,

(07:52):
maybe even over the weekend. The Dodgers could get reliever
or two back, and also next week they're expecting the
return of Key k Hernandez.

Speaker 5 (08:01):
Tim If I read this ball club just talking to
a couple of players coming in early this morning, I
think the overall tone this team is irritated right now.
That's a good thing, and I expect them to come
out full blast year this afternoon start to set the
record straight.

Speaker 7 (08:14):
Clayton kershaw I gets the start, the veteran lefty in
his eighteenth season against rookie Chase Dolander. Dolander the right
hander going for the Rockies. Rockies thirty seven and ninety
and the Dodgers seventy two and fifty five, looking to
put another one in the win column today.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
Tim all right, Dodgers need that win. Tim has we
catting it down to first pitch. Dodger fans get that
game day meal on. Yeah, lunchtime is approaching. You gonna
do it for lunch today? How about Shaky's Pizza Parlor?
What are your Shaky's Pizza chackin and mojos right now
at shakys dot com. Still to come here, I'm Wrongo
because you know, Dodgers on deck. You're gonna hear from
the manager, Dave Roberts. You're gonna hear from David Vantacy.

(08:50):
He go one on wall with Blake Tron and we'll
break down this pitching matchup. You got the latest injury update,
We got your Otani rewind and up next we head
live to the Denver and visit with Kirsten Watson from
Sports at LA. That's all coming up as we lead
you up to Dodgers and Rockies.

Speaker 4 (09:06):
On this Thursday. Thanks you being with us. I'm Tim Katson.
This is the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers. All do
you know?

Speaker 6 (09:15):
This is Morongo Casino Dodgers Hunting game on your home
for La Dodgers Baseball.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
It's the Dodgers and the Rockies on this Thursday. Dodgers
need to win even up this four game series and
head to San Diego for a three game series beginning
Tomorrow night. Clayton Kershaw Chase Dolander. The pitching matchup. First
pitch coming up at twelve ten. This is the Otani Rewi.

Speaker 7 (09:42):
And Tanner Gordon, twenty seven year old. He delivers his
first pitch of the ball game and it is lying
down the first base side. A fair ball bounces off
the sidewall. O'tani rumbling around first and he is in
the second with a stand up double and the pitch
strike three called He got of looking at a sweeper

(10:02):
knee high on the inside corner. Strikeout number one, one
out for the Rockies in the first.

Speaker 5 (10:08):
His first advent as a hitter hits a double. Is
first event against is a pitcher strikeout. Not a bad
way to start.

Speaker 4 (10:15):
Great start for show.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
Hey o Tani leadoff double on the first pitch of
the game is seventeenth of this season. Comes back in
the bottom of the first inning, gets a strikeout. He
would end up going the four plus innings five runs,
nine hits, only three strikeouts. Got touched up a little
bit as the Rockies down the Dodgers eight to three.

Speaker 6 (10:33):
This is Kirston's Corner with Kirston Watson.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
Hey Karson now joins us live from the field in
Denver on this Thursday, final game of this four game series.

Speaker 4 (10:42):
Brought to you by Cars for Kids. Ready to donate
that old car?

Speaker 1 (10:45):
Call eight seven to seven Cars for Kids right now,
friendly agent standing by to take your donation. That's Cars
with the K to donate your car today. Keerson, First
off show, Hey Otani took the ball off the thigh
last night.

Speaker 4 (10:58):
What's the latest on show?

Speaker 8 (11:01):
Yeah, well, I mean, look, it's bes case scenario that
it did not get his kney. It got him in
the thigh, just kind of straight flesh. So for him,
Dave Roberts was saying, like, obviously it's going to be
some sortness, but he does expect him to be in
the lineup tomorrow.

Speaker 9 (11:14):
They feel good about.

Speaker 8 (11:15):
Obviously was already having this off day today it was rescheduled.
So with all of that going as plans set, they
do expect him to get tomorrow. Gets take it easy today.
Dave told him asleep it relax up to the ballpark.
So hopefully he did that.

Speaker 9 (11:33):
Thanks some day, make some time to recover.

Speaker 1 (11:36):
Dodger's back at it today with no show, heo, Tani,
as you alluded to, and they got to figure out
some way to get a win.

Speaker 8 (11:42):
Today they do. It's just about getting back on track. Looks,
we know what happened last night and everyone was frustrated.
Everyone was you know, it was not a great showing
just in general. And so now for today it's a
matter of truly just like turning the page. They can't
go backwards. They can't change the result of this series.
As of right now, the Rockies are up two to one.

(12:03):
But what they can do is they can leave this
one with this play. So that is truly just the
Folcus for today. They've got Clayton Kershaw on the mound.
He is just a stopper, but as the veteran, as
a leader of this group, he sets the tone and
so they do believe he will do just that, hopefully
gets some offensive production.

Speaker 9 (12:20):
That's kind of it was lacking yesterday.

Speaker 8 (12:22):
And but yeah, the lineup does look a little bit
different because guys.

Speaker 9 (12:26):
Are having off days. We are here in Denver.

Speaker 8 (12:29):
This was the plan coming into it, but it's still
this is a big league love and they still have
the guys to get some production.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
Looking at some of the guys kind of getting ready
to come back from injuries, it looks like Hernandez could
be the closest, well, I.

Speaker 8 (12:43):
Would say maybe not the closest on the position player side.
Absolutely when it comes to just in general guys returning,
I think we'll be seeing Herbie Yates.

Speaker 9 (12:50):
And Tanner Scott returning first. And then but yes, her
name is.

Speaker 8 (12:54):
He was able to have a couple at bats yesterday.
It's some really positive results and Dave said that everything
looks good with the elbow and his swing, and so
we should be seeing him next week returning to the team.

Speaker 1 (13:04):
He can I wait to get him back here soon.
We appreciate it. We'll check with you after the game.
Still to come here on Marango Casino Dodgers on Deck,
we'll hear from the manager Dave Roberts. We got your
Dodgers magical moment as well. Don't go anywhere.

Speaker 4 (13:16):
We'd lead you up to Dodgers and Rockies on this Thursday.
I'm Tim Kayson. This is the world champion Los Angeles
Dodgers Audio Network.

Speaker 6 (13:28):
This is Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck on your home
for the blue whole season long.

Speaker 1 (13:38):
Rongo Casino Dodgers on Deck continues on this Thursday's we
lead you up to first pitch from the Mile High City.

Speaker 4 (13:44):
It's the Dodgers and the Rockies.

Speaker 1 (13:46):
Marongo Casino Resort inspy a Grand Slam for good times.

Speaker 4 (13:49):
First pitch coming up at twelve ten.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
It's the LA Dodgers Injury Report.

Speaker 1 (13:55):
Presented my UCLA Healthy Official medical partner of the Los
Angeles Dodgers, Max Monty on the I L with the
right obleaque injury. You just heard Kirsten Watson talking about
kek Hernandez on the IL could be coming back as
one of the ear first position players Tanner, Scott Kirby
Yates tracking to come back this weekend. Rookie Sasaki, Michael
Kopek hopefully not far behind. All right, let's head back

(14:17):
out to Coors Field. And checking with the Dodger skipper any.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
Dad, the questions for Dave, Dave? Can you just describe Dave?

Speaker 4 (14:24):
Can you talk about the pressure in.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
The dugouts with Dave Roberts.

Speaker 10 (14:29):
I think it's just turning the page and today's a
new day and we got to go out there and
play good baseball and win a ball game. I love
having Clayton out there, and feel good about our bullpen,
the state of the pen, and you know, as far
as lineup, obviously show he's not in their scheduled day
off and Tao not in their scheduled day off. But
I still feel good about our you know, our guys

(14:51):
going against Dolander and just taking good at bats and
I see the fight and it's just kind of we'll
get some results and you know, build some momentum into
this weekend.

Speaker 11 (15:00):
Do you get a chance to talk to show Hey
today and just how that leg is feeling.

Speaker 10 (15:04):
I haven't seen him. I told him to sleep in
show up late. I haven't seen him this morning, so
you know, my thought is that it's still going to
be sore, but expecting to be in.

Speaker 9 (15:14):
The lineup tomorrow.

Speaker 10 (15:15):
That's valuous sleep, that's value asleep that's right.

Speaker 2 (15:19):
How do you get more production out of left fields?
Obviously you have before.

Speaker 10 (15:23):
To cleaning up right now, but like how do you
sort of get more production out of that spot? That's
a that's a that's a great question.

Speaker 5 (15:34):
I think.

Speaker 10 (15:34):
Uh, you know, obviously in a short time, Alex Calls
been here and he's done a fine job for us,
certainly the last couple of days, the last couple of games. Yeah,
I mean I think that I've obviously given Michael a
lot of leash, and you know, as we get key

(15:55):
K back, which would be next week, you know, there
could be more opportunity for alets call as well, because
as you start kind of getting into September, you got
to figure out, you know, the guys that you're gonna
go with. So I think it's just up to the
guys that are in there that day to go out
there and perform.

Speaker 2 (16:12):
You treated it mostly as a platoon left with Colin before.

Speaker 12 (16:15):
Is there room for that to shift if conforts production
doesn't turn around?

Speaker 10 (16:20):
Well, we also got you know, like I said, we
got Kyk coming back, Tommy coming back. So I really,
you know, right now, don't know how it's going to
look in two weeks. But you know, right now, I
see it as a platoon for sure.

Speaker 3 (16:33):
It's back to show White for a second. Did he
have any test in any image in anything?

Speaker 11 (16:37):
How's next month's you doing? I know you mentioned just
the plios earlier this week. Has he gotten to any
baseball activity or have there been any progress with that?

Speaker 10 (16:48):
He hid off a tee yesterday, So he's in a
good spot training in the right direction, and so I
don't know, you know, time of return, but all things
that I hear, it's been really.

Speaker 4 (17:02):
Promising at all.

Speaker 1 (17:03):
Right, there's Dave Roberts kind of giving an update on
everything that's happening injuries and the day off for a
couple of different Dodgers as they look to even up
this four.

Speaker 4 (17:11):
Game series in Denver.

Speaker 1 (17:13):
When we continue here on Morogo Casino Dodgers on Deck,
we will check it with the David Math saying, as
we are leading you up to first pitch, Clayton Kershaw
on the mound, just the right guy the Dodgers need
out there in this series finale from Denver. I'm Tim Kass,
the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.

Speaker 6 (17:31):
As we were saying, this is Marongo Casino, Dodgers on
deck on the official home of La Dodgers Baseball.

Speaker 1 (17:41):
It's the Dodgers and the Rockies on this Thursday. Clayton
Kershaw on the Mount Dodgers looking to even up this
four game series. First pitch from course Field said for twelve.

Speaker 6 (17:51):
Ten, joining Tim Kats on Dodgers on Deck.

Speaker 3 (17:56):
I accept everybody for who they are.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
This is Dodger inside David Basse, all.

Speaker 4 (18:01):
Right, DV Dodgers need to get a win.

Speaker 1 (18:03):
We knew show Hey wasn't gonna be in the lineup
today a couple of days ago. That was made and known.
But looking at this lineup today, it's a little different looking.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
Yeah, it's a lot different looking.

Speaker 10 (18:14):
Uh.

Speaker 13 (18:14):
I guess it was a scheduled day off for Tioscar
Hernandez as well as show Hey Otani yesterday, a scheduled
day off for Mookie Betts. And look, four games at
Corsfield are not four games at Dodgers Stadium. It takes
a toll on you, especially with the Dodgers having so
many players over the age of thirty.

Speaker 3 (18:35):
Mookie's thirty two.

Speaker 13 (18:36):
I know, it's hard to believe ta Oscar's thirty three
years old. So you got to get these guys off
their feet at some point in time. And unfortunately, with
no Monci, with no Edmund, and no Kei k Hernandez,
it looks a lot thinner than it normally does.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
David has brought to you by the twenty twenty five
to four f one to fifty from California's best selling
truck brand.

Speaker 4 (18:56):
It is time to see.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
Ford in a new light forward for America. From America,
you mentioned Kei k Hernandez, David, you g bluted to
it a few days ago. Kind of feels like he's
getting closer to returning.

Speaker 3 (19:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 13 (19:06):
Before the Dodgers headed out for this road trip, I
was told the Dodgers were optimistic that keyk Hernandez would
return next week, when the Dodgers begin the home stand
against the Reds. I also was led to believe it
could be as soon as Monday. And considering Kei k
last night two for three with an RBI double in

(19:26):
his first rehab game, makes me believe that Monday is
a realistic possibility. And boy, could the Dodgers use keyk
a Hernandez Because they could plug him in at third base,
they can plug him in in center field. He can
go anywhere, and they certainly need him his bat, his energy,
and his defense.

Speaker 4 (19:47):
Dave.

Speaker 1 (19:47):
Looking ahead, obviously, this is a big one for the Dodgers.
They need to take care of business, get the split
in Colorado, which is weird to say because they should
have won this series. But looking ahead of this weekend,
it's a big one again against the Padres, this time
San Diegoing you look at the rotation set up, Dodgers
got to feel pretty good about the three guys they
got going out Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

Speaker 13 (20:06):
I mean, that's what it comes down to at this
point in time for the Dodgers. It's about their starting pitching,
and if they don't get good starting pitching, it's gonna
be really tough for them to win, considering how inconsistent
their offense has been. I mean, yesterday they were shut
down by a pitcher that they probably should have scored
at least six runs against. The Dodgers will know on

(20:29):
their flight to San Diego whether or not they are
tied for first place in the NL West or still
have a lead in the NL West, because as the
Dodgers are getting ready to play here, shortly the Dodgers'
arrival the team chasing them. The Padres and Giants are
going to be getting started at one ten at Petco
Park and tomorrow. Like you said, Tim, they got Snell going,

(20:52):
they got Glass now on Saturday, and they have Yamamoto
on Sunday. That is possibly three of the four starters
you would see in a playoff series.

Speaker 1 (21:02):
David Clayton Kershaw on the mound today. The last time
he was out was against the Padres at Dodgers Stadium
last weekend, and they needed him to set the tone
on that Friday night and he did exactly that kind
of feels like one of those games again for Clayton Kershaw, Hey,
we need you to go out there and be Hall
of Famer Clayton Kershaw.

Speaker 13 (21:20):
It's amazing at this stage of his career, eighteen years in,
where there was so many doubters about what he could do,
if he could even come back and pitch. This season,
he's the guy the Dodgers are turning to. And it
wouldn't even surprise me if you saw Clayton Kershaw start
a game one of a playoff series.

Speaker 3 (21:39):
That's the way this season has gone.

Speaker 13 (21:41):
And for Kershaw, he heightens the focus of everybody and
that's been something the Dodgers have been lacking consistently. And
it's interesting that he's pitching today at Corsefield because the
last time he pitched at Coursefield was on June twenty sixth.

Speaker 3 (21:57):
He was eight strikeouts.

Speaker 13 (21:58):
Away at that point in time from three thousand in
his career. That day, Kershaw had five strikeouts in six
innings and allowed just one earn run. So Corsefield does
a lot of things to the mere mortals, but not
to a future Hall of Famer like Clayton Kershaw.

Speaker 1 (22:15):
Let's hope so again today David Gray Stuff will check
back you with you in just a couple of minutes.
Still to come here on Moroco because you know, Dodgers
on deck. We hear from Blake trying it. But I'm
next your Dodgers magical moment. It's the Dodgers and Rockies
on this Thursday, final game of this four game series.
I'm Tim Kass, the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.

Speaker 6 (22:36):
This is Morongo Casino Dodgers Hunting Game on your home
for La Dodgers Baseball.

Speaker 1 (22:45):
It's the Dodgers and the Rockies on this Thursday. Clayton
Kershaw Chase Dolander.

Speaker 4 (22:51):
The pitching matchup. First pitch coming up at twelve ten.

Speaker 3 (22:54):
Ig who wants.

Speaker 6 (22:58):
A hot It's time for the Hawfy Magical Moment. Ditch
Magical presented by Hawfy Hot Dogs.

Speaker 1 (23:07):
We go back to April third, twenty twenty three, Dodgers
taken on the Rockies. Dodgers would win big thanks to
a seven run fourth.

Speaker 14 (23:15):
Inn The one oak and there's a shot to right field.

Speaker 3 (23:20):
It's on its.

Speaker 14 (23:20):
Way and Hayward has hit it out. Jason Hayward's first
hit make it his second hit as a Dodger and
his first home run. What a fifth innic for the Dodgers.
They have scored seven of the fifth, they lead it

(23:42):
nine to four.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
Jason Hayward goes deep a seven run fifth to propel
the Dodgers to a thirteen to four win over the
Colorado Rockies on that April third.

Speaker 4 (23:55):
What a great day. That is the.

Speaker 1 (23:57):
Hofey Magical Moment brought to you by Hoffey Hot Talks,
SOS Local Treasure for nearly one hundred years Offfey Hot
Dogs Local and so great. But we continue here on
Dodgers on Deck. We will check back in with Rick Monday.
So we lead you up to first pitch. Dodgers and
Rockies from Denver. I'm Tim Kasey's world champion Los Angeles

Speaker 6 (24:17):
This is Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck.

Speaker 2 (24:22):
On your home for the blue all season long.

Speaker 1 (24:26):
Low Dodgers and Rockies from Denver. Clayton Kershaw on the Mountain.

the game. Now at Verizon you can lock in your

today with Dave Roberts in Pasadena, all brought to you
by Verizon.

Speaker 6 (25:02):
And now joined by David Maas saying here's La Dodgers
broadcaster and World Series Champion Dodger Rick Monday.

Speaker 13 (25:11):
Well, Rick, Today's a very good day for a Dodger's
victory with Clayton Kershaw on the mound, they need a
split in Denver.

Speaker 5 (25:18):
Yeah, And you know what we have said over a
number of years when we walk into Dave Roberts office
either in the early morning or in the early afternoon hours.
And we'll keep that to ourselves, but we can come
in and hey, you know what today is and we
go on. It's a good day to do something. So
who would have thought that the Dodgers would come up
to Denver and drop two of the first three games

(25:39):
of a four game series, and especially last night, and
not to you know, belittle to Tanner Gordon. He pitched
a heck of a ball game last night, picked up
the victory and for Gordon just his fourth of the season,
making his ninth start. But here's a guy in the
month of July. They came in last night with a
fourteen to fifty nine earned rent average a batting average

(26:00):
in the three starts in August of four thirty eight,
and yet he held the Dodgers to one round of
four hits, and the Dodgers made a lot of mistakes
in last night's ball game physically, mentally talked about it
in the opening segment of the broadcast. But hopefully good
things to come today. But it is a much different
lineup that we have in today's game, and the finale

(26:21):
planned off day for Otani, so he's not in there.
Tascar Hernanez also not in the lineup.

Speaker 13 (26:27):
Yeah, I mean this lineup today, it may be one
of the ones that really stick out to you for
not having a Dodger lineup at full strength.

Speaker 5 (26:36):
Yeah. Yeah, And then coming in Jose Mode and I
were talking about the factors. There are some guys that
played rehab games last night. You look at Kicky Hernani's
had a couple of bays hits. Tommy Edmond also there.
So there are some troops on the way. But in
the meantime, the Dodgers just cannot continue to stand in place,
march in place, and wait for the troops to come back.

(26:59):
They've got to pick up Gauntlin move forward today.

Speaker 13 (27:02):
Sometimes you never know, Rick, when you feel like on
paper it may not be the strongest lineup, they may
surprise you.

Speaker 5 (27:09):
Hopefully, hopefully that's gonna be the case.

Speaker 2 (27:12):
David.

Speaker 5 (27:13):
It comes down to, let's oversimplify it. They have to
play better baseball and they're capable of it, but they've
just not done it, especially if you look at the
month of August. To this particular point.

Speaker 13 (27:23):
Rick I stumbled upon an Instagram account that I wasn't
sure whether or not it really was Rick Monday's official account,
but you told me it is. And there's a terrific
photo posted of you and Tommy Lasorda. It looks like
Vero Beach nineteen seventy seven with your arms around each other.
What do you remember about that photo and what memories

(27:45):
does it bring back?

Speaker 5 (27:46):
Well, first of all, it brings back memories because Tommy
was the coach for a Dodger rookie team out of
Santa Monica High School. It came home one day and
there was an envelope with the Dodgers letterhead. Inside was
a letter inviting me to go to a series of
three weekend tryouts to play for a Dodger rookie team
that was coached by Tommy Lasorda. Now, this Dodger rookie

(28:08):
team was comprised of high school and first year college
players that the Dodgers were thinking about trying to sign.
This was before the draft in Major League Baseball. So
I tried out over those three weekends and I made
the team and so Tommy was the coach. So we
developed the you know, a relationship. He tried to sign
me to a contract. I decided to go to Arizona

(28:28):
State and then finally seventy seven was my first year
coming to the Dodgers. It was Tommy's first full year
as the manager. And I don't remember the exact day,
but we were walking out of the locker room and
Tommy said something like Moke, and do you believe this?
You know, so many years ago we were together, you
were just out of high school, trying to sign you

(28:48):
and we were walking over towards Holman Stadium and we
just put our arms around it. The amazing thing is
and that photo means a lot to me. I didn't
know that photo is existed until this last winter when
a gentleman brought it up. He goes, have you ever
seen this photo before? I went, no, I have not,
and can I have a copy of it? And that's

(29:09):
how it came full circle. But it was my stepdaughter
Ashley decided to hey, look I'm going to put something
up there on an Instagram. So it's been fun or
or recks whatever, it's on at the present time.

Speaker 13 (29:22):
No, it's on Instagram. Rick, there's a real Rick Monday
Instagram account. Now I'm going to promote it. There's a
couple of other Farnowers now.

Speaker 5 (29:30):
Well, I've noticed that there's a couple of other ones,
but I have nothing to do with those. But yeah,
the official one. Yeah, it's there's just a couple of posting.
It's something that that photo means a lot to me
because this guy touched me in a lot of ways
professionally and I think from a spiritual standpoint, and it

(29:51):
helped develop me from the time I was seventeen. And
then you'll wind up playing for him at the major
league level and then won a World championship with him
as well.

Speaker 3 (29:58):
That's so awesome, Rick Love.

Speaker 13 (30:00):
I hear that one final question about your relationship with
Tommy Lasorda, how many free pasta meals did you get
with him?

Speaker 5 (30:08):
I think only you know what, I think, only one
and that was the dinner that he had my mother
and I out to dinner and he was trying to
sign me. And the story goes very quickly. He put
three different contracts in front of my mom every time
she had pen in hand, put the pin down said no,
he needs to go to college. If he gets injured
or can't make it to the big leagues, he has
something to fall back upon. Three different times, and the

(30:28):
third time Tommy took the contract back, crossed out the number,
put numbers in there, my mom and have to work
for years in order to achieve that number. And my
mom put the pin down, says no, I'm protecting Rick's future.
He's going to go to college to begin with. My
mom made a wonderful decision. And Tommy always said, he says,
you know, your mom out negotiated me. I said, she
was not negotiating with you, Tommy, she was protecting me.

Speaker 3 (30:51):
Yeah, she was. Rick awesome. I love hearing that.

Speaker 13 (30:54):
And we can't forget those great days with Tommy Lasorta
being a great ambassador for the team and obviously a
father figure for you.

Speaker 5 (31:02):
Rick.

Speaker 3 (31:03):
Bring home a win. We'll see it in San Diego tomorrow.

Speaker 5 (31:06):
See you tomorrow in San Diego.

Speaker 13 (31:07):
Peal there he goes Rick Monday, Tim, We'll send it
back to you in the studio.

Speaker 1 (31:11):
All right, Thanks lot DV, Thank you Mo. That's a
Dodger plan. Dodger fans, you need a game plan. Too
to start your future at a California community college. Financial
aids available to help you with tuition, books, sometimes even
the rent.

Speaker 4 (31:21):
It's time to take that next big step. What are
you waiting for?

Speaker 3 (31:23):
Fall?

Speaker 1 (31:24):
Classes starting here shortly. Classes can fill up quickly, so
enrolled today.

Speaker 4 (31:27):
At I can go to college dot com.

Speaker 1 (31:29):
Still to come here On Dodgers on Deck, We'll get
you a preview of this pitching matchup. Rick, We'll be
back with Tim, get you those keys of the game.

Speaker 4 (31:34):
But I'm next.

Speaker 1 (31:35):
We go high and tight with Blake trying Dodgers Rockies
first pitch at twelve ten. I'm Tim Kason's world champion
Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Networks.

Speaker 3 (31:46):
As we were.

Speaker 2 (31:47):
Saying yes, is Marongo Casino.

Speaker 6 (31:50):
Dodgers on Deck on the official home of La Dodgers Baseball.

Speaker 1 (31:56):
Dodgers wrap up this four game series in Denver against
the Rockies. Clayton Hershawn Jase, don't ander the pitching matchup
Dodgers Baseball brought to you by shake He's Pizza Parlor,
the official pizza partner the Dodgers Audio Broadcast. When it's
game day, it's group day at Shakey's dot Com.

Speaker 2 (32:12):
And now what.

Speaker 6 (32:13):
Will likely be vast a fielding insults from a Dodger player.

Speaker 4 (32:17):
It's an engagement of endearment is high and tight.

Speaker 13 (32:21):
We are joined right now by a man that is
the leader, the pillar of strength of that Dodger bullpen.
He is a two time, two time World Series champion.
That's the one and only Blake Trining. We had a
chance to catch up with him recently, Biday, isn't it wild?
Just the last I don't know, eighteen months for you,
your family, and for this team. It just seems like

(32:42):
a lot has happened for the Trinin family and obviously
for this team.

Speaker 3 (32:47):
Yeah, I mean, life goes on.

Speaker 12 (32:48):
We you know, we try to make the most with
each day, and you know it's easier looking back and
seeing at the blessings and success that God has brought
our family and this organization. And you know, today's just
another one of those memories that I look back on
in ten years and I'm sitting home with my family,
watching my kids take on their passions and dreams, and
we can we can share memories of today.

Speaker 13 (33:09):
What's it been like for you to watch two young
relievers really come into their own this year in benk
Cospiras and Jack Dryer. It feels like they have really
been thrown into the fire and have responded well.

Speaker 12 (33:20):
The cool thing for Jack is he was a part
of the team last year and he got thrown into
some some interesting situations as a rookie and he did
a great job, and he learned from a lot and
he learned how to process, you know, some of the
mental preparation of the game last year, and he's been
great for us this year. It's not easy having to
do what he's been you know, asked to do, but
I think if you're to ask him, he wouldn't have

(33:41):
it any other way. He's a he's a team first guy,
and the team does a great job of taking care
of us as as arms, and you know, he's it's
very unique to have to start to open to close
to long relief and high leverage, low leverage, eat up
innings and Jack, you know, Jack's kind of been doing
the same. And to have two young guys both from opposite.

Speaker 2 (34:03):
Sides of the you.

Speaker 12 (34:04):
Know, the spectrum, one being left to one of being
aliety and being really really successful with their with their
game planning and execution, it really it blesses the organization
blesses our arms and gives us opportunity to run other
guys out the following day or later that night.

Speaker 13 (34:18):
Blake Trenton is our guest in front of first pitch
For people like David Vassay, I have the mantra now
there is no tomorrow. Does there have to be a
sense of urgency, maybe being a little uncomfortable even though
you guys have been through so much.

Speaker 12 (34:33):
No, I don't I think urgency can I mean push
you one way or the other?

Speaker 3 (34:39):
And there's really no need.

Speaker 12 (34:41):
I mean, we're a team that's been here since I've
been here, a team's been in the run for a
World Series for the last This will be the sixth year.
And it's not like it's new for us that we
have to press to get somewhere. It's just take care
of what we're good at doing, you know, from a
hitting standpoint, getting quality at bats, moving guys over, driving
runs in, fouling off tough pitches to get to your pitch.

(35:03):
I mean, they all know what they're doing up there,
and you know, for us as pitchers, it's just getting
ahead of guys and putting them away early. And when
we do all of our things, and you know they
bring talent over here, that stuff takes care of itself.
To one thing I was most impressed about when I
first got here is then twenty one, the first full season,
we went through a stretch where we lost like seventeen
of twenty something games and it felt like we weren't

(35:25):
Like to me, I've been on teams when that happens,
and it's just like hide your head and figure out
how to get a win. And everybody's walking around like
we were on a winning streak. And it's the DNA
that's bred from the top with Andrew down through Dave,
who's the pulse in the clubhouse, to the players who
feed off that energy. You know, there's times where it
looks like it's tough, and for the fans, I'm sure
it's frustrating, but you know, have faith in this organization

(35:46):
and the faith in the players who have been there
and done that. There's been no other team in the
twenty twenties here that's that's been to the World Series
more than us. And it takes a lot of a
lot of talent, it takes a lot of good fortune,
it takes a lot of you know, plays in hell
and when all things are working. I don't know if
there's any better team in baseball than the Dodgers, but
there's a lot of very talented teams out there, so

(36:07):
you can't just bank on the talents on the roster.

Speaker 3 (36:09):
We have to perform, all right, Blake, thank you. You
calm me down. You and Kershaw calmed me down.

Speaker 13 (36:14):
I was, I was, I was, I was.

Speaker 12 (36:18):
It's nice when your eyebrows relaxed and you don't have
an angry face.

Speaker 3 (36:21):
I bring the edge.

Speaker 2 (36:23):
We're on the edge of this interview.

Speaker 3 (36:24):
I think we're about done. All right, it sounds good.
Enjoy the night, Blake. I'll be there in spirit.

Speaker 13 (36:29):
You to man, David, there is my guy Blake trying
to don't ever doubt him. We'll send it back to
you in the studio.

Speaker 4 (36:35):
All right, Dave Lead, you have to first pitch up. Next,
we'll dive deep into this pitching matchup. Don't go anywhere.

Speaker 1 (36:39):
I'm Tim Kasy's world champion in Los Angeles, Dodgers Audiotwhere.

Speaker 6 (36:44):
This is Wrongo Casino, Dodgers hunting on your home for
La Dodgers Baseball.

Speaker 1 (36:57):
It's the Dodgers and Rockies on this Thursday afternoon first
bitch from Coursfield coming up at twelve ten, and.

Speaker 6 (37:03):
Now before the Dodgers hit the dining we look at
the pitching matchups.

Speaker 1 (37:07):
Present about your side of the California Toyota Dealers work
hard in play hard at a New Tacoma with an
IFS turbo Charts engine. It's a truck built for the bolds.
Here Toyota dealer today they make it easy. Chase Dolander
on the mound for the Rockies two and nine with
the six to forty three Eerra, twenty three year old
right hander. First round pick of the Rockies two years
ago at the University at Tennis, he was a top

(37:29):
ten pick. Making his eighteen start down in the big leagues.
He's one of their top prospects. Even though he's win
Rutcker when lost record doesn't show it, he's been really good.
His last time out, he went four and two third innings,
did give up five runs on six hits, six strikeouts,
and a no decision against the Diamondbacks.

Speaker 4 (37:43):
He last won a game back on April thirtieth.

Speaker 1 (37:46):
Clayton Kershaw on the mound for the Dodgers seven to
two with the three zero one ERA thirty seven year
old left hander in his eighteenth season now and the
big leagues, all with the Dodgers. The future Hall of
Famer reached three thousand strikeouts earlier this season, making his
sixteen start last time out, six innings, one run, two
his three strikeouts in a winner with the Padres. That
was last Friday Night. So far, in August three starts,

(38:07):
he's three and oh with a one ERA in his
last eight day game starts. Going back to twenty twenty three,
Clayton Kershaw four to oh, the one sixty ERA and
thirty eight strikeouts in his career against the Rockies fifty
one starts, he's twenty eight and eleven with a three
twenty seven ERA and three hundred and twenty one strikeouts.

(38:28):
He made his start back on June twenty six. Remember
David Vesse talked about it. That was when he was
chasing three thousand strikeouts. Clayton Kershaw, Chase Dolander, Dodgers, Rockies
were fifteen minutes away from first bitch.

Speaker 4 (38:40):
Keys to the game. Our next, I'm Tim kas Is
the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio.

Speaker 6 (38:45):
Nowhork, this is Marongo Casino Dodgers on deck.

Speaker 2 (38:53):
On your home for the blue all.

Speaker 1 (38:55):
Season low Dodgers, the Rockies, Clayton Kershaw, Chase Dolander, the
bitch he met first pitch, coming up at twelve to ten,
one final time before first pitch out to the boot,
Tim never Rick Monday, Guys.

Speaker 7 (39:05):
Thank you very much.

Speaker 3 (39:06):
Tim.

Speaker 7 (39:06):
As we look at the pitching matchup today and what
are the keys, I think one of the keys, certainly
for the Dodgers is to try to do something with
Chase Dolander because he hasn't had a lot of run support.
His team has not helped him out. He has had
zero runs of support in six of his last ten starts,
a two to seventy six run support average. That's the

(39:27):
worst of the National League.

Speaker 5 (39:29):
Well, the Dodgers saw him here on June twenty fifth.
He was the losing pitcher, but three runs, three hits,
went five and two thirds. Rain delay forced him out
of the ballgame. And for the Dodgers, they've got the
veteran Clayton Kershaw, who will be making his fifty second
start lifetime against the Colorado organization. So if we look
at Kershaw, of the last eight starts he's had, six

(39:50):
of those have been quality starts.

Speaker 7 (39:52):
He's twenty eight and eleven against the Rockies all time.
He's got more wins, you know, almost double the wins
than Chase Dolander has had Major League stites.

Speaker 5 (40:02):
Yeah, Dodgers, though, we can put all the numbers together
and who they're facing and dolandry and he's running a
tough spot. Dodgers have to swing the bat better than
they have in the really two of the three games
in this series.

Speaker 7 (40:13):
So the Dodgers hoping to get some runs on a
sun splash Thursday afternoon, Matt and a game coming up
from Colorado.

Speaker 4 (40:20):
Tim all right, Dodgers need to get a win. Keep pace.

Speaker 1 (40:23):
We'll keep an eye on what happens in that day
game in San Diego between the Padres and the Giants.
Dodgers lineup a little different. Mookie Betts leading off at shortstop.
Freddie Freeman your first base and batting second.

Speaker 4 (40:34):
No show.

Speaker 1 (40:35):
Eotani gets the day offs with Will Smith. You're designated hitter.
Michael Conforto batting cleanup for the Dodgers today. Alex Freeland
batting fifth of third base, Dalton Rushing doing the catching.
Andy pohz in center field, batting seventh. Alex call In
right field, batting eighth. Miguel Rojas your second basement today
batting ninth with Clayton Kershaw on the mound for the Dodgers.

(40:58):
Remember he got to start back on June twenty six
to corus Field. He was eight strikeouts away from three thousand.

Speaker 4 (41:04):
He gave up just.

Speaker 1 (41:05):
One run over six innings in that game. Again, this
is start number fifty two against Colorado for the future
Hall of Famer. I'll be back when this game is
over with all the postgame highlights, reaction and Dodger takes, well,
enjoy it, Dodgers. I raqis wrapping up for the Mile
High City next. This has been Moroco Casino Dodgers on
