evening of your world champion Los Angeles Dodgers on the
road in San Diego is they start a three game
series against the Padres. Dodgers fresh off a split in
Colorado in their four game series. Dodgers going to play

(01:27):
Kirston Watson stops by. We got your Dodgers magical moment.
We'll head out to the Galpinam Motors Broadcast booth in
just a couple of minutes with Steven Nelson and Rake
monday Well. Yesterday in Denver, the Dodgers ended the series
in Colorado on a winning note. Clayton Kershaw exactly what
they needed. Pitching into the sixth inning five and two thirds.

(01:47):
He gave up three runs on six hits, struck out
three along the way. He was fantastic. So was the
Dodgers offense. And it started with Freddie Freeman.

Speaker 6 (01:56):
Freddy still battling for the league lead in average, trailing
Willson Smith by two points.

Speaker 4 (02:01):
Here, three to zero two, Freddy.

Speaker 6 (02:03):
Swings and he drives one deep to the center field.
This ball heading back and it is gone. That's a
home run for Freeman and the Dodgers strike first. It's
two nothing Freddie with his sixteenth home run of the season.
It was a blast to the right of the batter's
eye and to the left of the Dodger bullpen, and

(02:24):
that ball was hammered by Freeman. Dodgers strike earlier.

Speaker 5 (02:29):
Freddy Freeman is sixteenth home run of the season. Dodgers
up two to nothing. They led two to one in
the second when they tacked on more. Miguel Rojas a
bunch single, Will Smith hit by a pitch with the
bases loaded that brings in the fourth run of the game.
Dodgers scored in the first five innings of this game.
In the third, up five to one, Alex Call in
the bottom of the lineup delivered.

Speaker 6 (02:49):
Freeland leads at third base, two outsand the one to
two offer and this one is stroked in the left
field of base hit solid line drive off the bat
of all he gets freelan home. It is five to one.

Speaker 5 (03:03):
Alex Call with the RBI single in the fourth, Michael
confordo and sackfly Alex Freeland and RBI double in the fourth.
Andy Pa has got into it. With his solo home
run in the fifth inning, Will Smith in the eighth
tacked on in RBI single, Dodgers up big, nine to three.
They go on and win by the final of nine
to five. They get the split. In Colorado, Clayton Kershaw

(03:24):
now eight and two on this season and the Dodgers
now it's seventy three and fifty five on this season.
Head to San Diego for a huge three game series
against the Padres, a chance for the Dodgers to open
up the division lead. They go in up one on
San Diego. Blake Snell on the Mounta tonight in this
series opener, you Darvish will go for the Padres first

(03:46):
pitch at six forty and with more we head out
to the Gallpin Motors broadcast booth as we welcome in
Steven Nelson and Rick Monday. Guys, Thanks TC.

Speaker 8 (03:54):
Great to be back with you and Rick Monday and
the crew here on the Dodgers Audio Network, and it's
great to feed back Pecco Park for the Dodgers in
Padres final series of the twenty twenty five regular season.

Speaker 4 (04:07):
The season series has.

Speaker 8 (04:08):
Already been clinched by the Dodgers. Of course, mo we
know that they've won eight of the first ten and
have a chance to really put an emphatic end to
this season series. But you know, the Padres just one
game back. They have revenge on their mind after what
happened last week in Los.

Speaker 9 (04:24):
Angeles, absolutely as the Dodgers were able to sweep that series,
and we start to look, I mean these two ball clubs,
I mean, this is gonna be a big weekend. It's
gonna be a hostile crowd. It'll be a loud crowd,
just the way it should be because you're really looking
at postseason play wrapped into this three game weekend series
as well. But if you look at the All Star
break since the break, that's where things have gone well
for the Padres, not so well for the Dodgers, because

(04:45):
San Diego since the All Star Break has gone twenty
wins in twelve losses. The Dodgers let that nine game
lead and the West slip through their fingers by going
fifteen and sixteen since the All Star Break.

Speaker 8 (04:57):
Yeah, the Dodgers, thanks to yesterday He's split with the Rockies,
have the same number of wins as the Rockies since
the All Star Break, and so things are lined up
for this this final three game set, everything is in
front of the Dodgers, and the whole mode is that
we see from this team this weekend on the road
what we saw from them last week at Dodgers Stadium,

(05:19):
and that was a height level focus, the attention to detail,
and it was this team showing us or reminding us
that hey, we know when the bright lights are on.

Speaker 9 (05:29):
Yeah, and you know, splitting that series in Colorado was disappointing.
I said before yesterday's ball game. And you know, sometimes
we get a read on players. You know, we're around
them all the time, and having been the you know,
down in the dugouts and playing for a number of
years too, you kind of at times can can kind
of read players. I read the Dodgers and a couple

(05:50):
of players that I talked with very briefly yesterday morning
going to the ballpark. It's being irritated, irritated because they
wanted to write this ship. Well that's exactly what they did.
And yesterday's ball game, in winning Get by a score
of nine to five, that's one side. Now we look
at the other side was with San Diego. You know,
they took three out of the four against the Giants
and they did it in very fine fashion because the

(06:12):
final three games of that series, San Diego and Andres
outscored the Giants twenty one to six. Momentum is something
you can't see, you can't touch, but you can feel
it if you have it, And for the Pandres, they
feel they have it coming into the series.

Speaker 8 (06:27):
They have won three in a row heading into this
series where they had won five straight when they came
to Dodgers State, and they're feeling good then and the
Dodgers knocked them back on their heels. Blake Snell, we'll
try to do that once again this weekend against his
old club.

Speaker 10 (06:38):
You.

Speaker 5 (06:38):
Darvish will start for the Padres.

Speaker 8 (06:39):
We'll dive into that pitching matchup and get some keys
for mo in our next visit.

Speaker 5 (06:43):
Ten Back to you, all right, thanks lot Nelly, because
we count you down. The first pitch. Dodger fans get
that game day meal on a Shaky's Pizza parlor. Yeah,
what are your Shaky's Pizza chicken? Mojo's no better time
to do it than right now as you make your
way home on this Friday. Shakys dot Com coming up
here on Morago Causino Dodger on deck. You're gonna hear
from the manager, Dave Roberts. David Vase goes one on

(07:04):
one with Mookie Betts. We'll check in with dv throughout
the show. We'll get you the latest injury news as
a Dodger reliever has come off the injury list. Dodgers
getting healthy of just the right time. Dodgers Padres big
series in San Diego. Thanks for being with us. I'm
Tim Kase's thorild champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
This is Morongo Casino.

Speaker 7 (07:28):
Dodgers Hunting game on your home for La Dodgers Baseball.

Speaker 5 (07:35):
It's the Dodgers and the Padres from San Diego on
this Friday night, the start of a three game series.
Dodgers one game lead in the division. You Darvish and
Blake Snell. The pitching matchup. First pitch coming up at
six forty.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
This is the Otani rewind Show.

Speaker 5 (07:54):
Hey, Otani did not play yesterday. He was not in
the lineup. He was off resting after his pitching on
Wednesday night and his performance at the plate. Dodgers didn't
need him though. Dodgers nine to five winners over the
Rockies yesterday in Denver, and yesterday it was a big
afternoon for the Dodgers as they put up the nine
runs on the Colorado Rockies to extend their lead in

(08:15):
the division now to a game. And after the game,
Kirsten Watson caught up with one of the big stars yesterday,
Alex Freeland.

Speaker 11 (08:22):
Alex, going into this series, you said you felt like
you had to unlock something offensively. You had a three
hit performance today. How would you describe as how you're
feeling out the plate right now?

Speaker 10 (08:30):
It's confident now, like I saw a couple of falls.
So now I'm just gonna let it loose.

Speaker 11 (08:35):
Where you're reading from there. Starting pitcher Dollander, just to
get to him early.

Speaker 10 (08:38):
In this one, just be on the heater. I mean,
he's got a lively heater. He kind of eliminated it
to two pitches, just this fastball and curveball and then
just hunt at the heater.

Speaker 11 (08:48):
We were laughing just how challenging it is playing here
in Denver. You see the altitude can get to you.
Describe to you what it's like leking out a third
or triple here.

Speaker 10 (08:56):
Honestly, I couldn't see where the ball was, so I
didn't know I was going to third until about two
steps away from second, so I was out of breath
and I had tursion.

Speaker 11 (09:06):
When you look at this series, you guys were able
to pick up the win today. Splitting it. I know,
coming in you guys wanted to kind of not be
in a situation. We're only one game left between you
and the Potters and the standings. How important was it
to kind of get this win today heading into a
very exciting weekend in San Diego.

Speaker 10 (09:19):
Yeah, I mean getting this win today, it just gives
us that a little bit of extra momentum. But I
think we're ready for this weekend and we can bring
that energy that we brought today into the weekend.

Speaker 11 (09:28):
You got a taste of it last weekend. What are
you looking what do you think you're gonna expect her?
What are you looking forward to expecting you in San Diego?

Speaker 10 (09:34):
Just a great atmosphere, like good baseball.

Speaker 4 (09:36):
It's gonna be fun. All right.

Speaker 11 (09:38):
Well, best of luck, and it's always better when you
have the confidence going at the place. And congratulations on
a three hit game today.

Speaker 3 (09:43):
Thank you.

Speaker 5 (09:43):
All right. There's Alex Freeland yesterday three for five. He
had a big afternoon for the Dodgers who beat the
Rockies nine to five. Dodgers Baseball's brought to you by

(10:06):
one with Mookie Betts up next, So your injury report
and we'll hear from the manager himself, Dave Roberts. That's
all coming up as we lead you up to Dodgers
and Padres from Petco Park, first pitch at six forty.
I'm Tim Kass, the world champion Los Angeles.

Speaker 7 (10:20):
Dodgers Audio Network. This is Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck
on your home for the Blue all Season Law.

Speaker 5 (10:36):
Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck continues as we lead you
up to first pitch from San Diego on this Friday,
Dodgers of Padres, Marongo Casino Resort and spy a grand
Slam for a good times. Blake Snell and you Darbage
the pitching matchup. First pitch coming up a six forty.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
This he's the LA Dodgers injury report.

Speaker 5 (10:55):
Percent of i UCLA healthy official medical partner of the
Los Angeles Dodgers. Max Monsey on the eye with the
right oblique and Ray brock Stewart on the il got
an injection in his right shoulder. He is hoping to
come back here before October. Baseball Kirby Yates is going
to come off the injured list tomorrow. That is certainly
great news. Tanner Scott coming off the injured list for
the Dodgers. He is back in the Dodgers bullpen just

(11:18):
in time for this three game set. Key k Hernandez
getting close possibly next homestand we could see Key k
Rookie Sasaki Michael Kopek also close to coming back on
minor league rehab assignments. All right, we head back out
to Petgo Park. Let's get the pregame thoughts on the
Dodgers skipper.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
Anything else for da question for Dave, Dave, can you
just describe Dave?

Speaker 4 (11:40):
Can you talk about the pressure in.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
The dugouts with Dave Roberts.

Speaker 12 (11:46):
Dave, you got Tanner Scott back today, do you foresee
using him in the ninth inning or is.

Speaker 4 (11:51):
It a matchup situation?

Speaker 13 (11:54):
Yeah, I don't know. I think it's for me matchup,
but obviously I think that Tanner matches up with anyone,
But I would say matchup base but just certainly good
having back.

Speaker 12 (12:07):
How much easier does that make things for you? Getting
Tanner back today, Kirby tomorrow to be able to work.

Speaker 13 (12:12):
Backwards, it's great. Tanner says that he feels as good
as he's felt all year. Kirby's excited to get back,
and expect him to he feels good as well. So
to get guys, our guys back is exciting, and yeah,
it just kind of takes a little bit of the
pressure off some other guys and allows us to slot

(12:34):
guys in their rightful spots and it's gonna be a
fun series. So to get those guys back as big.

Speaker 12 (12:39):
Is there a different feel tonight than a week ago
to facing these guys.

Speaker 13 (12:47):
I don't think so. I mean, I think the only
difference is from our perspective is we're playing here versus
at home. This is a fun place to play a
baseball game. Obviously, we ended up playing really well last week,
kind of chasing those guys and now we got a
game lead. So but as far as our overall minds.
I think we feel the same Rick Kerry.

Speaker 14 (13:10):
Were they able to work out some stuff while in
the al we get the results back in the place
where you guys kind of visioned them being.

Speaker 13 (13:16):
I think for both guys there was a little health
component for both guys, and then there is some mechanical
things that Kirby worked through, Tanner work through both of them.

Speaker 10 (13:26):
Yes, Ja Jane tells me that a song played left
field and Okay, seeing last night, how should we interpret that?

Speaker 3 (13:37):
Thanks?

Speaker 7 (13:37):
Jay?

Speaker 13 (13:39):
Yeah, so I think obviously we know hay Song can
play second base, we know we can play shortstop. So
you know, just seeing them out in left field, I
think that it just potentially just gives us a little
bit more options.

Speaker 10 (13:55):
How much of an emphasis do you have on trying
to get more offense out of left field?

Speaker 4 (13:59):
Yeah, it's important.

Speaker 13 (14:01):
I mean I think that whoever we put out there,
we need production. So it's it's it's very important.

Speaker 6 (14:09):
And when you get some more of these options back
from the injured list, does we see different people in
left field?

Speaker 13 (14:18):
Well, we get we get key k back next week.
It'll probably be during that Red Series, you know, there's
I think we'll see him in the left field, So
as guys come back, there's gonna be opportunities. So obviously,
whoever's out there tonight, Mike is out there, he has
an opportunity. But you know, we definitely need production out

(14:41):
of that position.

Speaker 14 (14:43):
They Oscar could be out there, not just improved the
offense out there in left field.

Speaker 13 (14:49):
You know what, I think it's it's like I said,
you know, the last couple of days. I think it's
certainly a great thought. It's something that is not a
zero percent chance of happening. I haven't appro tail yet
about it, but it's certainly something I've thought about.

Speaker 15 (15:06):
You touched on it a little bit, but can you
kind of keep real the mindset inside the clubhouse facing
this Padres team, knowing what's at stake in this particular
series coming out here today.

Speaker 13 (15:16):
Yeah, I just think that it's it's one of those
things that it's nothing has changed as far as us
kind of knowing how good of a ball club they are,
what the stakes are. It's a division rival, The season
is not going to be made, made or lost this weekend.
But yeah, we just want to play good baseball. So
I think that's kind of where our mindset is today

(15:38):
and where it was last last week. We want to talk.

Speaker 2 (15:40):
To Tommy about just how he's.

Speaker 8 (15:42):
Hoping the extra time on the io, well, let.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
His ank will calm down.

Speaker 5 (15:45):
Like how optimistic are you guys, that he'll get in
a place where he can be like another one of
those outfield options when he knows come.

Speaker 13 (15:50):
Back to very optimistic. I think kind of where we're
at right now with the calendar, we really can't afford
a setback quick because that could affect the postseason. So
I think that, yeah, we're gonna make sure that we
air on the side of caution, and he's got to
be able to play. You know, the part of the

(16:12):
value of Tommy has to be able to kick it
all over the field, and so the ankle shouldn't hamper that,
and so we've got to make sure that and so
it's it's but I feel very confident that that's gonna
happen here. All right.

Speaker 5 (16:24):
There's the manager, Dave Roberts, a lot to say before
this game against the Padres, including possible moves to left
field for tay Oscar Hernandez.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
That is, Dave.

Speaker 5 (16:33):
Roberts down to the dugout. When we continue here on
Wrongo Casino Dodgers on deck. We will check in with
the David Zay doing double duty radio, TV, Sports Net
LA check him out this weekend. We'll talk to David next.
As we lead you up to first pitch from beck
Go Park in San Diego. Huge series Dodgers and Padres.
I'm Tim Kase is the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers

(16:55):
Audio Network.

Speaker 7 (16:59):
As we say yes is Marongo Casino Dodgers on deck
on the official home of LA Dodgers Baseball.

Speaker 5 (17:10):
It's a Dodgers and Padres squaring off, second weekend in
a row. Dodgers swept the Padres last weekend. Dodgers looking
to take care of business tonight at Petco Park. Clake
Snell and you Darvish the pitching matchup first bitch coming
up at six.

Speaker 2 (17:23):
Forty, joining Tim Kats on Dodgers on Deck.

Speaker 4 (17:28):
I accept everybody for who they are.

Speaker 5 (17:30):
This is Dodger Insider David and David now joins us
from pet Co Park. It's here dv the three game
series after the initial series of Dodgers Stadium. Dodgers going
to play one game up and I imagine pet Co
Park is gonna be rocking.

Speaker 4 (17:47):
Yeah, already it's filling up.

Speaker 12 (17:49):
A lot of Dodger fans made the trip down to
San Diego, so it's gonna be a split crowd tonight,
but certainly Peco is going to be electric playoff atmosphere,
similar to we have seen in the postseason and other
trips down here for the Dodgers. But there is a big,
bigger difference as the Dodgers and Padres open up this series.

(18:10):
With the Dodgers sweeping last weekend at Dodgers Stadium, they
have won the regular season series. That is a huge,
huge development considering how this is a back and forth
division these days, and certainly the Dodgers have the three
starters that you would want on the mound in this series,
with Blake Snell tonight, Tyler Glass now tomorrow, and Yamamoto

(18:34):
on Sunday.

Speaker 5 (18:36):
David is brought to you by the twenty twenty five
Ford f one to fifty from California's best Ella truck brand.
It's time to see Ford in a new light. Ford
for America from America and David the Dodgers getting healthy
in the bullpen at the right time. Welcome back Tanner Scott.

Speaker 12 (18:50):
Yeah, Tanner Scott is activated. For tonight's game. Dave Roberts
hinted that he wouldn't hesitate to use Tanner Scott in
the ninth inning. The same situation arised Blake Trenton obviously
an option as well. And even better news for the Dodgers,
not only Tanner Scott coming back tonight, but Kirby Yates

(19:11):
will be activated.

Speaker 4 (19:12):
For tomorrow's games.

Speaker 12 (19:14):
So the Dodger bullpen is starting to look more like itself.
And Dave even said that Tanner Scott and Kirby Yates
use the time to make a mechanical adjustment to each
of their you know, mechanics, pitching mechanics, because before Tanner
Scott went on the IL, he was not his sharpest
and neither was Kirby Yates.

Speaker 5 (19:35):
David Dodgers Mookie Betts has been in the news certainly
a lot, talked about maybe going back to right field.
He slumped for about three and a half weeks and
coming up in a little bit. You're gonna go one
on one with Mookie.

Speaker 12 (19:47):
Yeah, Mookie's biggest meeting of the week is happening with
us on the pregame show.

Speaker 4 (19:52):
Here. He's back at shortstop today.

Speaker 12 (19:54):
That's not really the only option the Dodgers have to
make their outfield better defensive moving Mooki to right field.
There's other options as well, having ta Oscar Hernandez play
left field, having uh Andy Pajez slide over to right field,
and using keyk A Hernandez and Tommy Edmond in center
field when those two returns.

Speaker 4 (20:15):
So there are other.

Speaker 12 (20:17):
Options other than moving Mookie Bets to right field, and
to my knowledge to Tim, the Dodgers have never had
a conversation with Mookie Betts, even as recently as this
week about going to right field.

Speaker 5 (20:29):
David. Tonight, we got Blake snell on the mound. He
looked really good last time out. How we feeled about
snell Zilla in this yet another big start against the Padres.

Speaker 12 (20:38):
Well, as you could tell already, Rick Mundane Stephen Nelson
are very excited about bump day for snell Zilla. He
handled the Padres last week. I don't see any reason
why he won't handle him again this time. And he
didn't even have his fastball command last week. It's gonna
be a nasty night for snell Zilla, be ready, Rick
and Steven.

Speaker 5 (21:00):
The rough night for the Padres hitters, no doubt about that. Dave,
we appreciate it. We will check back in with you
in just a little bit. Still to come here on
Morongo Casino Dodgers on deck, you are gonna hear one
on one David Vasse and Mookie Beds. We're gonna dive
deeper into this pitching matchup. But up next You're Dodgers

There's no balls, no strikes, and tattoos.

Speaker 16 (22:39):

Speaker 16 (22:42):
He leaves and make take spectacular catch. Cody Bellinger rob's
Tattoos of a two run home run.

Speaker 4 (22:51):
His glove was six or seven.

Speaker 16 (22:53):
Inches over the yellow line and stride away center A
spectacular catch by Cody Bellinger and the Dodgers get out
of the inning.

Speaker 5 (23:04):
Oh what a play, What a play? Indeed, Cody Bellinger
leaping up and robbing Fernando to tease Junior of a
home run. Bruce dark Crowderol was on in the mound
when that happened, through his glove and threw his hat.
He was so excited that ended the seventh inning, kept
the Dodgers lead at four to three. They go on
and win six to five over the Padres. Of course,

(23:24):
they go on and win the NLDS, the NLCS and
of course win the World Series. This Hofey Magical moment

we are just over thirty five minutes away from the
start of the game. Now at Verizon you can lock
in your low price for three years. You can save big.
Visit the Verizon store today. How about visiting world Champion
manager Dave Roberts Next Thursday, the twenty eighth, at the

(24:30):
Verizon Store in Pasadena, located at three six eight South
Lake Avenue from five to six pm. The event starts
at four o'clock, so show up early for your chance
to win tickets and merch. That's next Thursday, August twenty
eighth with Dave Roberts in Pasadena, all brought to you
by Verizon. Let's heading out now to Charlie steiner Rick Monday, guys.

Speaker 15 (24:50):
All right, tim down to the final thirty four games
of the regular season and the Dodgers with a one
game lead over the Padres. Dodgers tonight will be sending
Black Snell against you, Darvish, and Blake Snell has been
Light's out since coming off the injured list.

Speaker 9 (25:05):
He's done a very good job and he's kept his
ball club, you know, in contention when he has been
on the mountain. I think the overall effect, starting pitchers
allow your team to come and have a victory and
walk away, and that's exactly what he's been able to do,
including against the p Andres last Saturday when six innings
did not allow a run, only five hits in that ballgame.

(25:27):
And one thing that I do think that the Dodgers
need to be mindful of if we look at that
start on Saturday, remember the p Andres tried to steal
three different bases, they were gunned down twice in the
very first inning trying to steal bases by Will Smith,
who now has thrown out twenty four that's the second
best in Major League Baseball. So if the Padres get on,

(25:49):
do they have a track meet in mind tonight?

Speaker 15 (25:52):
Snell three and one o one eighty er. You Darvish
goes tonight. With Darvish, are never quite sure he can
be lights out or he can get his life lit
up two and three of five ninety seven er.

Speaker 9 (26:03):
Yeah, And he throws just about everything, not only about
eight or nine different pitches, but he also has about
three or four different deliveries, and he will try and
quick pitch a batter here and there. He did not
have a good outing last Sunday at Dodgers Steady of
no decision, but went four innings and gave up two
first inning home runs, one to Andy pa Hansen, the

(26:24):
other one to Freddie Freeman. So we'll find out about Darbish,
and I full well expect Darbish to be throwing a
lot of off speed pitches to this Dodger ball club tonight.

Speaker 15 (26:33):
Well, it's an interesting battle tonight because the Dodgers have
a superior starting rotation to the Padres, but the Padres
have the best bullpen in baseball, so it's going to
be a race to about the fifth or sixth inning
before this game really gets a tone and.

Speaker 9 (26:47):
Tenor yeah, and I think both of these ball clubs too.
Charlie's at how many runs are they able to put
on the board. You know, the Dodgers by far have
outscored San Diego, but then you look, as you mentioned,
especially in the back end of the pitching stand for
San Diego, they allow fewer runs. Dodgers have been about
five hundred and seventy three runs for the p Andres
total this year just four hundred and eighty one, So

(27:09):
they don't give up a whole lot of runs, even
though they don't score a whole lot. But they're feeling good,
just having won three out of four against the Giants
here at home.

Speaker 15 (27:18):
Tanner Scott is coming off the injured list tonight, Matt
Sower has been sent back. Kirby Yates will be joining
the Dodger of bullpen tomorrow, So some strength coming off
the injured.

Speaker 9 (27:28):
List, bo, Charlie, isn't that refreshing, not only getting the
pitchers back, but coming back. You know, we look at
Kicky Hernandez. He's getting closer to coming back. The Dodgers
have some guys that hopefully are going to be coming
back within the next week or ten days to have
a full compliment of this Dodger ball club that really
pulled the biggest part of the wagon this year earlier on.

Speaker 15 (27:50):
And so now down the stretch we come Otani back
in the lineup. He took one off the five the
other night. He's fine and he'll be in tonight. And
Bookie Betts hitting ball well of late. So the top
two guys are hitting pretty well, Will Smith showing some
signs of fatigue, and of course Freddy Freeman is right
in the middle of the pack.

Speaker 9 (28:09):
Yeah, we start to look at Mookie ben Since the
fifth of August, he's hit three point fifty one. For
Will Smith has been the opposite end of the spectrum
lands thirteen games, just one sixty three. Freddy Freeman well,
six game hitting streak that he's going going in the
month of August, hitting over three point thirty himself. So
the Dodgers and the Padres, everybody used to talk about

(28:29):
the Red Sox and the Yankees, bah humbug. It is
now the Dodgers and the Padres as the number one
rivalry in the game.

Speaker 5 (28:36):
Coming up, Tim, All right, thank you Charlie. Great to
hear your voice. That's the Dodgers game plan. Todger fans,
you need a game plan. Two, how about starting your
future at a California community college. Financial aids available to
help you with tuition, books and sometimes given the rent.
It's time to take that next big step. What are
you waiting for? Fall? Classes are starting and they get
Philip quickly, So en roll today that I can go

(28:59):
to college dot com. Still to come here on Morongo
Casino Dodgers on Deck, we'll give you a preview of
this pitching matchup. Steven and Rick will get you those
keys to the game. But up next we go high
and tight with Mookie Beds, not talking to anybody else.
He talks one on one only with David Vassy. Next,
as we lead you up to Dodgers and the Padres

(29:21):
from San Diego of Tim Kas's the world champion Los
Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.

Speaker 7 (29:29):
As we were saying, this is Marongo Casino Dodgers on
Deck on the official home of La Dodgers Baseball.

Speaker 5 (29:41):
It's the Dodgers and the padres late snell You darnis
the pitching matchup in the series opener. First pitching Petco
Park is coming up at six forty. Dodgers Baseball's brought
to you by Shaky's Pizza Parler, the official pizza partner
of the Dodgers audio broadcast. When it's game night, it's
group night at Shaky's dot Com.

Speaker 7 (30:00):
What will likely be vast a fielding insults from a
Dodger player.

Speaker 5 (30:04):
It's an engagement of endearment.

Speaker 2 (30:05):
This is high and tight.

Speaker 12 (30:08):
Well, we are joined right now by Mookie Bets and
this is the biggest meeting Mookie Bets has had all week.

Speaker 3 (30:15):
Welcome, Thank you for having me. Brother.

Speaker 4 (30:19):
Hey Mookie, there was an.

Speaker 12 (30:20):
Unverified report earlier this week that you, Doc, and Andrew
had a meeting to discuss you going back to right field.
What can you tell us about that? And can you
set the record straight.

Speaker 3 (30:34):
People are making stuff up.

Speaker 17 (30:36):
You know, somebody's in there just trying to be the
first one to report a story of their own. So
that's completely false. I go in there to talk to Doc.
Me and Doc have like this mentor father son type relationship,
and I've been I talked to him all the time
about my swinging hats coming along and this, that and
the other, and so somebody in there was just kind

(30:58):
of guessing.

Speaker 3 (30:58):
And making stuff up.

Speaker 17 (30:59):
So who ever made that up, you know, you need
to be careful with what you're reporting, because that was
just I was in there talking about my swing and
how it's coming along.

Speaker 3 (31:07):
So that has nothing to do with it.

Speaker 12 (31:08):
Going back to right field, how shocked were you when
you started seeing that pop up all over and it
wasn't even true.

Speaker 3 (31:15):
Very shocked.

Speaker 17 (31:16):
I mean it's you know, I understand reporters have to
do their job, but I mean, you don't have to
spread lives. You don't have to just make stuff up,
you know. Especially I'm a very open and honest person.
Just come talk to me and come ask me. I
don't appreciate things being made up, you know, so, but
it kind of is what it is.

Speaker 2 (31:34):
I could vouch for that.

Speaker 4 (31:35):
You're very approachable.

Speaker 17 (31:36):
Yeah, I mean, I feel like you just come ask me,
you know, I'll be honest. I'm very honest person, very
very honest.

Speaker 4 (31:40):
Mookie.

Speaker 12 (31:41):
Around this time last year, you took it upon yourself
to say moving to right field would be the best
for the team, would you be open to doing that.
And is that even something that's ever been brought up recently.

Speaker 3 (31:52):
No, it's never been talked about.

Speaker 17 (31:53):
So that's another reason why I don't even know how
these reports.

Speaker 3 (31:56):
People just make stuff up, want to play GM and manage.

Speaker 17 (32:00):
But whatever I mean, I'll My tone has been the
same from the beginning.

Speaker 3 (32:04):
I'll do whatever it takes to win.

Speaker 17 (32:05):
So if I need to move to third base, to
right field, to second base, wherever, it doesn't.

Speaker 3 (32:09):
Matter to me.

Speaker 17 (32:10):
I feel like I'm a very viable option anywhere except
pitching and catching.

Speaker 4 (32:15):
You never know, you could do a lot of things.

Speaker 3 (32:17):
Yeah, no, I'm not doing those too though.

Speaker 12 (32:19):
Hey, speaking of your swing, you talked about how you
met up with your old buddy JD Martinez when the
team was in Florida. How much does it mean to
you that a guy like that that's not playing anymore
would still take the time out to meet up with
you and still do the things you did when you
were teammates.

Speaker 3 (32:35):
It means a lot.

Speaker 17 (32:36):
But I mean, me and JD's relationship is one of
my brothers, so it's not surprising. It wasn't like, I,
you know, something crazy, you know, for me and him that's.

Speaker 3 (32:45):
Pretty normal, you know. So I talk to him all the.

Speaker 17 (32:47):
Time, and this is our relationship runs way deeper than baseball.

Speaker 3 (32:51):
So for him to come see me in Tampa.

Speaker 17 (32:55):
Was partly yes, baseball, but partly because he lives down
in Miami.

Speaker 3 (32:58):
He just wouldn't then come see me.

Speaker 17 (33:00):
And Rob and you know, we have a like I said,
a brotherhood. So you know, it is a really cool thing.

Speaker 3 (33:06):
But don't I don't view it that way.

Speaker 4 (33:07):
He's a different guy now.

Speaker 12 (33:08):
He's lobster fishing, so maybe he wouldn't been able to
come off the boat for you.

Speaker 3 (33:12):
Yeah, we he is.

Speaker 17 (33:14):
He does a lot of lobster fishing and whatnot. So
he was able to put that to the side for
a couple of days to come hang out with the boys.

Speaker 12 (33:20):
Mookie, this is the last time you see the Padres.
You guys had a big lead in July. Now it's
a back and forth division. How big is it to
have the urgency and how do you guys approach it?

Speaker 17 (33:32):
I mean, it's obviously important to have urgency, it's just
hard to do it for one hundred.

Speaker 3 (33:36):
And sixty two games.

Speaker 17 (33:37):
But now he's getting down a crunch time. You know,
the Padres the Rockies, Cincinnati, whoever we're playing against it.
We have to have that sense of urgency. The division
is close, and so we know that they're not They're
gonna be hungry, They're not gonna grow over and just quit,
you know. So we had to really play a good
Dodger baseball for the next two months, you know, including
a postseason.

Speaker 12 (33:58):
Do you feel like you guys still have the same
hunger you had last year when you were chasing it?

Speaker 3 (34:03):
Yeah, I definitely think so.

Speaker 17 (34:05):
I mean, you know, we had some injuries and whatnot
that kind of plays a part and whatnot, But guys
aren't going out here just dogging it. You guys are
out here working and doing everything we can to be successful.

Speaker 3 (34:14):
And you got the young guys out here working hard.

Speaker 17 (34:18):
You know, everybody coming up is working hard to help
us win. And so I definitely think the sense of
urgency are the the will to win is definitely there,
and just sometimes you know, you go through your ruts,
you go through your ups and downs and and but
that doesn't change our our mindset.

Speaker 12 (34:34):
I see you guys, prepare you Freddie. Everybody comes out
here five hours before the game. Those are the type
of things that most people don't see. Doesn't that Isn't
the actions speak louder than anything else that you're out
here working.

Speaker 3 (34:48):
Yeah, I mean for sure.

Speaker 17 (34:49):
I mean, like you said, we're we're all here doing
everything we can. I think that kind of shows that
we're not We're still hungry, we still we still want
to win, and so we're doing everything we can possible
to uh, to be the best product.

Speaker 3 (35:00):
We can on the field.

Speaker 17 (35:01):
And I mean, like I said, sometimes we go throw
our ups in our in our downs, but we're definitely
working every day to be the best that we can be.

Speaker 12 (35:08):
Before I let you go, we always see the baseball
and bat necklace.

Speaker 4 (35:12):
I know you broke it.

Speaker 12 (35:14):
Recently you found a new one and fans can get
that too, right, you.

Speaker 17 (35:18):
Have all star pieces and so yeah, this is uh,
there's a business that me and a couple of buddies
we created.

Speaker 3 (35:25):
You can go online and get it.

Speaker 17 (35:27):
Support support me and like I said, my boys and
our business. But you know, I just try to switch
it up and get the red one now because the
black one once it broke, you know, it was kind
of you know, that was all that was when I
was playing terrible as well.

Speaker 3 (35:43):
So I tried to just get a fresh start.

Speaker 4 (35:45):
Mookie, thanks a lot for the time. It's great to
see you smile.

Speaker 12 (35:47):
MOOKI mothers across America still need that smile.

Speaker 4 (35:51):
I'm glad it's back.

Speaker 3 (35:52):
Yes, there's back, it's back.

Speaker 4 (35:55):
There he is.

Speaker 12 (35:55):
He's at shortstop today and tomorrow and yesterday.

Speaker 4 (35:59):
Mookie bets.

Speaker 5 (36:01):
Mookie BET's great to hear him laughing, having a good
time and back on track offensively for the Dodgers. And
there he did, he clarified it. He is sticking at
shortstop all right. As we lead you up to first
pitch coming up, we'll dive deeper into this pitching staff.
A former Dodger going against the Padres, and a for

(36:21):
a Padre going against the Dodgers. We'll break it down.
We come back. Dodgers and Padres from San Diego on
this Friday night. I'm Tim Kasey is the world champion
Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.

Speaker 7 (36:36):
This is Morongo Casino Dodgers Hunting game on your home
for La Dodgers Baseball.

Speaker 5 (36:46):
Lead you up to Dodgers and Padres from Petgo. Bark
first pitch coming up at six forty and.

Speaker 7 (36:51):
Now before the Dodgers hit the dining. We look at
the pitching matchup.

Speaker 5 (36:56):
Presented by your Southern California Toyota Dealers. Work hard and
play hard in a New Tacoma with an I Force
Turbo Chars engine. It's a truck built for the Bowl.
See your Toyota dealer today. They make it easy you
darbish on the mound two and three five ninety seven Erora,
the thirty nine year old right hander, has been banged
up this year in his fourteenth season, now in the
Big League's his fifth the Padres We of course remember

(37:17):
him in twenty seventeen with the Dodgers, making just his
ninth start this year because of the injuries last time out,
four innings, three runs, two home runs, three hits in
a loss of the Dodgers. Nineteen career starts against the
Blue he is seven and six with a two to
seventy six RRAY and a one seventy two batting average
against Blake Snell on the mound for the Dodgers, facing

(37:39):
his former team, Yes, he called San Diego home. From
twenty twenty one through twenty twenty three, he went twenty
nine to twenty five with a three to fifteen RAY
and eighty three starts with the Padres, winning the National
League Cy Young Award in twenty twenty three. Last time out,
six shutting out innings, scattered five hits, struck out three
in a win over the same Padres. He's making just

(38:00):
his sixth start of the season. He is fresh, he
is healthy, and he is ready to go. Blake Snell,
you Darvish. Dodgers Padres were fifteen minutes away. First pitch
keys to the game. Our next. I'm Tim Kase' the
world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.

Speaker 7 (38:18):
This is Marongo Casino Dodgers on tap on your home
for the blue all season long.

Speaker 5 (38:27):
Law walking you up to Dodgers and Padres on this
Friday night and Blake Snell you darvas the pitching matchup.
First pitch sent for six forty before that, though, one
final time, back out to the booth Steven Nelson, Rick Monday, Guys.

Speaker 8 (38:39):
Tim Kate's back here with Rick Monday one final time.
His first pitch is fast approaching at Pecco Park, could
be thrown out by you, Darvish. To show hey, Old Tani,
Mookie Bets and Will Smith the first three in the
Dodger lineup today Freddie Freeman is in the cleanup spot.
Ta Oskar Hernandez draws back in after having the Colorado
finale off as well. But MO, if you have a
key or two or tree on your mind, would you

(39:01):
share them with us?

Speaker 9 (39:01):
Plase? Well, I think, first of all, for Blake Snell,
just continue to kind of pound the strike zone. And
one thing that I would be thoughtful of is first
pitches through the standing of pres. The reason I say that,
look at some numbers earlier today. The Pondres in their
starting lineup tonight have seven of their nine hitters that

(39:21):
on first pitch have hit three point fifty or higher
this year, So they go to home plate. They're somewhat selective.
In fact, for the Podres, they have struck out almost
three hundred times fewer than the Dodgers overall. From team
and from this Dodger ball club. Looking at Darvish, hopefully
they can repeat what they were able to do last
week in a Dodger stadium on Sunday, no decision by Darvish.

(39:43):
He went just four innings, four runs on three hints,
but two of those hints were home runs. In the
very first inning, Freeman and Pahz left the yard and
for Darbish, he'll throw everything we saw more all speed
pitches from Darvish in that outing on Sunday, does he
go and double up up on the off speeds today
we'll find out he's.

Speaker 8 (40:02):
Got the whole kitchen sink and then a couple of
extra pipes laying around as well to throw at opposing
hitters with that arsenal that he has. Blake Snell on
the other side, has bitched thirteen consecutive scoreless innings going
back to the fourth inning of his start in Tampa Bay.
That was coming off the injured list, his first turn
in four months, and he was really terrific after outside

(40:24):
rather a couple of Yondi Diaz opposite field home runs.
So he will try to continue his strong stretch for
the Dodgers here and get the series started off on
the right foot. It's Snell and Darbish that it's glassed now.
In Cortes on Saturday, Yamamoto against Pavetta. Nick Pavett has
been the San Diego ace throughout this year, so that
those are the pitching matchups in this highly anticipated final

(40:46):
regular season series between the Dodgers and the Padres. Can't
wait to get it going, which happened shortly.

Speaker 5 (40:51):
Tip cannot wait either, Nelly. It's gonna be electric inside
Petco Park and feel it right now. We'll head back
out there in just a couple of minutes for First
Pitch Dodgers and Padres on this Friday night. The fight
for first atop the NL West continues tonight with the
three game series in San Diego. Dodgers go into the

(41:12):
weekend one game up in the standings. How we'll look
after tonight, well after the game, I'll be back with
all the postgame festivities including Dodger Talk as well. First
Pitch is next. Enjoyed everybody. I'm Tim Kasey's been Moroco Casino,
Dodgers on deck on the World champion Los Angeles Dodgers
