(01:24):
hoping for a nice win for a present on his
birthday coming up over the next sixty minutes here on
Morongo Casino, Dodgers on deck. You're gonna hear from the
manager Dave Roberts. We're gonna get his pregame thoughts. What's
his attitude going into this game tonight? We'll dive deeper

Dodger reliever Tanner Scott. We've got your Dodgers magical moment
(01:45):
coming up. We'll hear from Alex Freeland. Shortly in at
just a few minutes, we go out to the Galpin
Motors broadcast booth, and here from Steven Nelson and a
Rick Monday. Well, last night it was a pitchers duel
between you Darvish and Blake snow both pitching against their
former teams. You Darvish six innings, one run, one hit,
(02:06):
five strikeouts. Blake Snell wins seven innings, allowed two runs
on six hits while striking out five along the way.
The Dodgers able to get to you Darvish in the third,
it wasn't the big Boppers atop the lineup. It was
Alex Freeland with his first home run. The two one
hit of the air, deep right field, down the line.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
Alex Freelan has his first major league.
Speaker 9 (02:31):
Home run.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
Just inside the right field pull. Welcome to the show,
Alex Freelan. He gives the Dodgers ah one nothing lead.
Speaker 8 (02:44):
Alex Frielan goes deep his first major league home run.
As the Dodgers grabbed a one nothing lead, Blake Snell
was walking to tightrope the entire outing in the second, third, fourth,
and fifth, inten the leadoff batters got on for the Padres.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
He was able to get out of it though.
Speaker 8 (03:00):
In the third and the fourth, the leadoff walk a
sack bunch and then Manny Machado and RBIs single tied
the game at one. Two batters later, Zander Bogart's sack
fly and the Padres manufacturing two runs off Blake Snell
in the fourth took a two to one lead. Meanwhile,
the Dodgers offense quiet the fifth, the sixth, the seventh,
(03:23):
the top half of the eighth inning. The Dodgers had
runners on, but Dalton Rushing grounded in to a three
six one double play off Mason Miller in the eighth
inning and the Dodgers hopes in the inning gone. Meanwhile,
the bottom of the eighth inning, Dodgers turned it over
to the bullpen and Guardo Henriquez got the bottom half
of the eighth inning, trying to keep it at a
(03:45):
two to one game.
Speaker 10 (03:47):
Enrica's deals Machado swings hits it on the ground, left side.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
Diving stuffed by Bets, He's up and throwing.
Speaker 6 (03:53):
He got him.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
Oh baby, another beauty by Bets, and it saves a
run and then gives the Dodgers a chance.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
In the ninth.
Speaker 8 (04:02):
Huge defensive play from Mookie Betts Robbie Manny Machado of
a base hit up the middle. Machado slid into first
trying to beat the throw. The throw beat him, though,
for the final out of the eighth inning that kept
it at a two to one game. Dodgers in the
bottom half of the ninth inning faced Robert swore is
there in the ninth and the Dodgers actually had something
going there.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
In the top half of the eighth inning.
Speaker 8 (04:24):
Runners on first and third, two outs, Tye run ninety
feet away, tay Oscar Hernandezo struck out to end the
game in the thread, Padres hang on for a two
to one win over the Dodgers. U Darvis gets the win.
Blake Snell gets tagged with the loss. Dodgers and Padres
now tied seventy three and fifty six on this season,
(04:47):
both teams with thirty three games remaining on this season,
and tonight a pivotal game two of this three game
head to head series, winner gets a one game lead
in the division. Tyler Glass now on the mound, first
pitch at five forty with more, we head out to
the Gallpin Motors broadcast booth as we welcome in Stephen
Nelson and Rick Monday, guys.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
Well Tim Kats.
Speaker 10 (05:06):
The Dodgers and Padres are on this Saturday exactly where
they were last Saturday.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
Just flipping the script a little bit, right, mo. I mean?
Speaker 10 (05:14):
Last weekend, the Dodgers into that series at home, down
a game they won the opener to pull into a
tie atop the Nation League West. Well, this weekend, the
Padres returned the favor last night, taking the opener two
to one, It really was a well played ball game,
a well pitched one for sure. Blake Snell, he took
the loss. That loss was not on him. You Darvish
was just really brilliant, and the Padre bullpen, you know,
(05:37):
pulled out the rest by you know, the hair on
their chin, so to speak. But still a disappointing first
game for the Dodgers, particularly on offense.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
What else did you take.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
Away from well, A couple of different things. First of one,
I agree wholeheartedly. We talked about it. I thought last
night on both sides was not only a well played game,
I thought it was extremely well pitched on both sides.
Speaker 4 (05:57):
Dodgers going to count for.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
That, did not have a hit until Freeland with one
out had the home run in the third inning. And
for the Dodgers only three hits in the entire ball game,
and two of those came in the ninth innings. So
we talked about the punduries bullpen. They had three guys
came down shut out the Dodgers over the final number
of innings. But if we look at this big ball
club we mentioned last night, two plays by Mookie Bets
(06:23):
at shortstop. The reason I bring that up Externally, there
has been a lot of discussions about, well, you move
Mookie Bets to right field, you moved to Oscar Hernandez
to left field. That's an exterior convent and conversation. From
an interior, you're looking at Mookie Betts. Who else is
going to make those plays? Because one of them was
to the backhand side over by third, the other was
(06:45):
a diving stop going up the middle to his left.
You can make the argument who else in the National
League in particular, or we can see at shortstop make
those two plays?
Speaker 4 (06:53):
Yep.
Speaker 10 (06:54):
I think what we're seeing what we have heard in
that regard all year long. It has been incessant the
entire year, and to a degree, I understand because I
believe that most people who are talking about Mooki Bets
going back to write, they are projecting their frustrations with
tay Oscar Hernandez's defense and right They're projecting their frustrations
on Michael Knforto's lack of production offensively for the majority
(07:17):
of this season onto Mookie Bets because he is the
premier superstar and they are trying to rational They're projecting
their frustrations with Mooki's down offensive year, but it really
is not rooted in any sort.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
Of baseball fact.
Speaker 10 (07:29):
The baseball facts say that Mooki Bets is a plus
shortstop right here and right now.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
The baseball facts say that.
Speaker 10 (07:37):
Just because the back of his baseball card reads six
time goal glover and right field, it does not mean
he is still a goal glover and right field. So
I just think it's a lot more projection than it
is anything. And again I do understand, like I'm not
saying that the people or the fans are saying that
are idiots or anything like that. They're reasoning things the
best that they can. But at this point, it is
(07:59):
nearly septem Mookie Betts is the starting short stuff for
the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
That is not changing, and he proved it last night.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
Here's the other thing that gets overlooked and maybe swept
under the rug. If if we look at last night, it's
kind of indicative of what's happened in recent times. A
two to one loss, okay, one run loss, Well, if
we start to look at it, eleven of the last
sixteen one run games have been in the losing column. Well,
that's got to change as well, is it? Because of
pitching on the back end. Is it because of lack
(08:27):
of hitting? A combination of all of them, no question
about it. And do not sell short the San Diego Pandres,
who now are tied again for first place with the
Dodgers in the nationally Western Division. They know that they
have two games going back to back Dodgers could leave
San Diego in second place in the West. This place
is going to be loud again tonight in San Diego.
Speaker 10 (08:48):
Not just losing their one run games of late. What
is it eleven to the last sixteen, the Dodgers have
loss As you mentioned, they have fifteen blown lead losses
since the fourth of July. And based on how these
two teams have played throughout the year, they have played
more close games than blowouts the Dodgers and Padres. So
you figure to see another one tonight and probably another
one tomorrow. So it's up to the Dodgers to reverse
(09:10):
their fortunes both against the Padres and in tight ball games.
Game two at Petco Park, Tyler glassnow against Nestor Cortez.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
We'll be back with some keys a little bit later.
Speaker 8 (09:19):
Tim All right, thank you, Nelly, As we cut you
down to first pitch, Dodger fans, got any dinner plants,
how about get your game day meal on Shaky's Pizza
Parlor or to your Shaky's Pizza Chicken Emojo's at Shaky's
dot Com. We're off and running here on Dodgers on Dead.
Coming up, you're gonna hear from the manager, Dave Roberts.
We will check in with David vat Say our Dodger
insider throughout the hour. He'll go one on one with
(09:42):
Tanner Scott. We dived deeper into this pitching matchup with
the birthday boy Tyler Glass now going for the Dodgers.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
But up next your.
Speaker 8 (09:49):
Otani rewind and we'll hear from Alex Frielan who at
a big moment last night for the Dodgers. That's all
coming up as we lead you up to Dodgers and
Padres Game two of this pivotal three game series from
Petko Park.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
Thanks for being with us.
Speaker 8 (10:02):
I'm Tim kase Is, the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers
Audio Network.
Speaker 7 (10:10):
This is Morongo Casino Dodgers Hunt game on your home
for La Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 8 (10:18):
Walking you up to first pitch on this Saturday Dodgers
and Padres whether it's warm outside, Dodgers hoping the offense
warms up after only three hits last night, Tyler Glass
now on the mountain. Nester Cortes will go for the
San Diego Padres first pitch, coming up at five forty.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
This is the Otani rewhy Well show.
Speaker 8 (10:39):
Hey Otani last night. Much liked the Dodgers lineup. Oh,
very quiet. He was zero for three with a walk.
The Dodgers walked three times. Other than that, they had
only three hits in the entire game, one of them
from Alex Frielan Yes, Alex Freeland last night, playing second
base and third base, hit his first major league home run.
(10:59):
Congratulates him. We hope he got the ball back. And
afterwards Alex caught up with David Vasse in the media.
Speaker 5 (11:05):
Alex, you were the only one that could get a
good swing off of you, darbish for your first career
home run. What did it feel like round in the
bases after you hit it?
Speaker 11 (11:14):
Super unreal, barely fail the ground, So it's pretty cool.
Speaker 5 (11:18):
What was it about that pitch that you were able
to jump? That was a that was a no doubter,
just looking out over and threw it out over, So
went on. Is it bittersweet you hit it, but you
guys lose tonight?
Speaker 1 (11:31):
Yeah, it's pretty sweet. I mean, yeah, it's cool.
Speaker 11 (11:33):
I hit my first career home round, but the only
thing I really cared about was winning the game, and
we didn't win.
Speaker 9 (11:38):
So then like just coming up here and jumping straight
in the tight division race like this, and especially like
the intensity of these games against the Contres last couple
of weeks.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
For me, it's pretty fun.
Speaker 5 (11:49):
I like this kind of atmosphere, so I enjoy these
kind of games. How good was Mookie tonight at shortstop?
Speaker 4 (11:55):
Unbelievable?
Speaker 1 (11:56):
Everybody saw it.
Speaker 5 (11:57):
He made some really big plays.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
Really good.
Speaker 5 (12:01):
Did you get the ball back? I think I think
we said we've got it with a nineteen.
Speaker 8 (12:06):
Hit, got to get that ball back for Alex frielan
his first home run last night. He was all the
Dodgers offense. They had three hits the entire game. His
home run in the third inning got him on the board.
They were down two to one in the eighth and
ninth inning and had runners on base. That's the only
time the Dodgers were able to get some hits, two
of them in the ninth inning. They had three hits
the entire game and a losing effort as the Padres
(12:26):
took the series opener last night, two to one. Dodgers
Baseball's brought to you by Cars for Kids. Ready to
donate that old car? How about calling Cars for Kids
right now at eight seven to seven. Cars for Kids
Friendly agents are standing by to take your donation. That's
Cars with the K to donate your car today, Still
to come here on Dodgers on Deck will dive deeper
into this pitchy matchup. David Basagos one on one with
(12:47):
Tanner Scott. But I'm next, we get you an injury
report and we hear from the manager himself, Dave Roberts.
That's all leading up to Dodgers and Padres.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
From pet Goo Park.
Speaker 8 (12:56):
Tim Kase's a world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 7 (13:01):
This is Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck.
Speaker 6 (13:07):
On your home for the Blue all season long.
Speaker 8 (13:10):
Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck continues on this Saturday as
we lead you up to first pitch from Petco Park
in San Diego, Game two of this three game divisional
series between the Dodgers and the Padres. Morongo Casino Resort
and Spa a Grand Slam. Four good times. Tyler Glass
now the birthday boy, thirty two years old. Today, first
pitch at five.
Speaker 7 (13:30):
Forty It's the LA Dodgers Injury.
Speaker 8 (13:35):
Report presented by UCLA Healthy, official medical partner of the
Los Angeles Dodgers. Welcome back Kirby Yates fresh off the
injured list yes yesterday, Tanner Scott comes back today. Kirby
Yates reinforcements are coming back. Tanner Scott four and forty
five and two third innings pitch for the Dodgers this
year thirty one and the third innings pitch for Kirby Yates.
They are welcome site for this Dodgers bullpen to veteran
(13:58):
arms they acquired in the off season back in the
Dodgers' bullpen. That means that we saw Blake Snell go
on the paternity list. That was the other move to
bring Kirby Yates back. Max Mounsey on the il Brock
Stewart on the I L kek Hernandez on her minor
league rehab assignment working his way back, as is Rokie
Susaki and Michael Kope. So the Dodgers trending in the
(14:19):
right direction. Injury wise, as far as guys returning. All right,
speaking of returning, let's turn out to Petco Park and
check in with the Dodgers skipper.
Speaker 5 (14:26):
Any questions for Dave?
Speaker 4 (14:29):
Dave? Can you just describe Dave?
Speaker 9 (14:31):
Can you talk about the pressure.
Speaker 6 (14:34):
In the dugouts with Dave Roberts?
Speaker 4 (14:36):
Dave?
Speaker 5 (14:37):
You got glass now on the mound today. He's seen
the same team in a week. How much is the
cat and mouse game and play tonight with a guy
that is pretty straightforward?
Speaker 9 (14:48):
Uh?
Speaker 12 (14:48):
Yeah, you know what, I don't know how much obviously,
you know, if you look at what you did last night,
a lot different mix. You know, I don't know how
much different Tyler is going to be or needs to be.
You know, it's a two seam, fourcing fastball, it's a slider,
it's a curveball, and so just kind of sequencing and
pitching like that. I don't think it's gonna be much different.
Speaker 5 (15:12):
Last start, he really started to bring both hands over
his head, similar to Kershaw. What do you know about that?
And what is that adjustment about?
Speaker 12 (15:21):
You know, obviously that's something that kind of gets him
in line, synced up. That's something he and Mark probably
talked about ore Connor, but I don't know the kind
of the reason behind it.
Speaker 4 (15:34):
And we'll see what he does tonight.
Speaker 12 (15:36):
He likes the tinker, He likes to tink it a
little bit, but hopefully he sticks with this.
Speaker 5 (15:39):
And this is good that he changed his slider grips
and shape a little bit, Like if you notice that,
just like how different is them just kind of playing.
Speaker 12 (15:48):
For it lately, you know what, I haven't noticed it,
to be quite honest with you. And Connor McGain is
one of our pitching coaches, is really good with the
grips and kind of layering on your throw to the
different grips, send with the shapes and things like that.
Speaker 4 (16:02):
So I'm sure Connor is right in the middle of
that one.
Speaker 11 (16:04):
A better job of like threading the needle when it comes,
like being able to make adjustments without obsessing over those adjustments.
Speaker 12 (16:11):
I honestly I think that right now as far as
you know, not trying to compare players, but his growth
this season has been exponential, and I just think that,
you know, when you see him on the mound, his
demeanor has been consistent and not letting certain things kind
of affect him, you know, too high, too low, and
he just stays in this zone a lot better than
(16:34):
we've seen in the past, and I think it's really
been of benefit a.
Speaker 11 (16:39):
Lot of in the first half last year. But how
excited are you to see what he looks like in
a stretch run in a division race, like being that
type of guy maybe to take on a kind of responsibility.
Speaker 4 (16:48):
Really looking forward to it.
Speaker 12 (16:50):
I know he is, But I think the thing is
just make sure we try to stay in the moment
and all these games are big, but yeah, I think
that he's really getting a good foundation on as the
games continue to get bigger and bigger and managing his emotions.
Speaker 4 (17:05):
But you know, Tyler's done a great job for us,
He really has.
Speaker 8 (17:08):
Yeah, Tyler Glass now has been great since getting healthy
off the injured list, and they need to keep him
healthy in this rotation as they move forward. As the
Dodgers continue to get healthy in the bullpen as well
again Kirby Yates activated off the injured list, ten Or
Scott activated last night. Dodgers starting to get healthy at
the right time, and tonight they need that offense to
heat up and get going against Nestra Cortes. We'll dive
(17:30):
deeper into that pitching matchup coming up. We'll also get
your magical moment but up next when we return here
on Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck will check in with
the David Vaz says, we are leaning you up to
first pitch on this Saturday Dodgers and Padres, the fight
for first and the and L West first pitch coming
up at five point forty. I'm Tim Kais's the world
champion Los Angeles Sanders Audio Network.
Speaker 7 (17:58):
As we were saying, yes, is Marongo Casino Dodgers on
tack on the official home of La Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 8 (18:09):
It's the Dodgers and the Padres on this Saturday night.
Tyler Glass down, Nestor Cortes, the bitching Matt Chuff first
bitch from pet Co part is coming up at five forty.
Speaker 6 (18:21):
Joining Tim Cates on Dodgers on Deck.
Speaker 5 (18:23):
I accept everybody for who they are.
Speaker 6 (18:25):
This is Dodger insider David Vassi.
Speaker 8 (18:29):
All right, dv you hear the name Nestor Cortes, and
if you're a Dodger fan, you have to immediately think
right to Game one of the World.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
Series last year.
Speaker 5 (18:37):
Yeah, I would think so, Tim, I uh I stopped
Freddy Freeman after his infield drills earlier today, and I said, hey, Freddy,
can I ask you a couple of questions? He said,
of course. I said, Nestor Cortes you once again. He said, oh,
stop that, David, stop that narrative. There goes one of
your vass a narratives again. I said, hey, it's not
(18:58):
just my narrative. We're all thinking about it. He said, here,
think about this. The last time I faced Nestor Cortes
in last year's World Series, it wasn't my walk off
Grand Slam. He said, did you remember Nestor Cortes got
me out later in that series. I responded with no, No,
I don't remember that, and I choose to black that out.
(19:19):
Nobody remembers that, Freddy. He said, ah, you're really going
to go with this narrative. I said, hey, it's not
a narrative. It's what everybody's talking about. Because I even
told Freddy this. Kirk Gibson never faced Dennis Eckersley again
after Game one of that eighty eight World Series, so
I said, it's unique. He just laughed it off and said,
(19:39):
I am not going to be thinking about that when
I step into the batter's box tonight, I can guarantee you.
Speaker 8 (19:45):
David is brought to you by the twenty twenty five
Ford f one to fifty from California's best selling truck brand.
It's time to see Ford in a new light. Ford
for America, from America. Tyler glass Now, on the other side,
goes for the Dodgers. He has pitched really well since
coming off the injured list. Glass Now's got a little
new movies out there on the mountain doing Yeah.
Speaker 5 (20:04):
I'm not sure if you caught this last Sunday. Tyler
glass Now has pitched exclusively out of the stretch. But
the biggest difference in his delivery is how he brings
both hands over his head Allah the right handed version
of Clayton Kershaw. I asked Kershaw whether or not he
spoke to him about doing that and what's the reason
(20:26):
for it, and he said, I think he's trying to
stay further back on his back leg. I think that's
what it is. I asked Dave Roberts about it. He said,
we'll see what he does today, meaning that glass Now
kind of tinkers a lot with things in between starts,
so we'll keep an eye out to see whether or
not he continues to bring both hands over his head
(20:46):
like Clayton Kershaw does from the left side recently.
Speaker 8 (20:49):
The starting pitching, it is very good for this Dodgers team, David.
The offense, it's been up and down. Nine runs in
the final game in Denver, albe at its cores field
at altitude, but yesterday just one run on three hits
and they didn't really get anything going until late in
the game. Why is the inconsistency in this offense?
Speaker 5 (21:06):
I asked Dave Roberts about that again today and he said, basically,
they're missing pitches that they should be hitting in the
strike zone. And when you get down two strikes, it's
really difficult to string together two or three hits. So
he's gonna be looking and has been looking at the pitches.
The Dodgers foul back the pitches they miss in the
strike zone. And I know a lot of Dodger fans
(21:28):
are rejoicing because Alex call is in the starting lineup
tonight in left field against the left handed Nester Cortes.
Speaker 8 (21:36):
Looking ahead just a little, David, because this series is
a big one tonight. Of course, Tom all the finale
Dodgers need to win be atop the NL West. But
they're gonna come back home and they get Cincinnati to
start off the homestead right away on Monday.
Speaker 1 (21:49):
How's that rotation starting to look?
Speaker 5 (21:52):
Well, it's interesting. They the Dodgers have a day off
on Thursday, and they have maneuvered the schedules so Otani
start when there is a day off, and they've been
very fortunate that four out of the last five weeks,
including the one coming up, they have had a day
off or a travel day on Thursday. The only exception
(22:12):
was this past week when they were at Coors Field
they played a four game series. So they want to
keep Otani on that Wednesday with a day off on Thursday,
meaning Clayton Kershaw through a bullpen session today. That means
Kershaw will start on Tuesday on regular rest and emmett
Chen will start on Monday on six days rest, and
(22:33):
Otani will have that Wednesday to pitch and have Thursday
to recover.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
Interesting.
Speaker 8 (22:38):
David, appreciate it, great stuff. We'll check back you with
you in just a little bit. David's gonna go one
on one with Dodger closer Tanner Scott, who is back
off the injured list. We'll get you a pitching matchup breakdown,
but up next your Dodgers Magical Moment as we lead
you up to first pitch on this Saturday night, Dodgers
and Padres repet Goo Park in San Diego. Dodgers and
(22:58):
Padres tied atop the NL West standings.
Speaker 1 (23:02):
I'm Tim Katson.

Speaker 6 (23:42):
Dog who wants the hot It's time for the Hawfy.
Speaker 7 (23:46):
Magical Moment Ditch Magical presented by Hawfey Hot.
Speaker 8 (23:50):
Tops with the Dodgers and Padres, we go back to
April of two thoy and fifteen, Adrian Gonzalez a night
against his former team. He went deep, not once, not twice,
but three times.
Speaker 6 (24:04):
Adrian with another one home my.
Speaker 13 (24:08):
He is three for three and three home runs, one
further than the next.
Speaker 6 (24:16):
Adrian Gonzalez is.
Speaker 13 (24:18):
Now nine for twelve with five home runs.
Speaker 1 (24:25):
And six runs batted in three RBIs tonight.
Speaker 13 (24:30):
There is no hotter hitter in the game at this moment,
three games in and Adrian Gonzales.
Speaker 8 (24:37):
Adrian Gonzalez with three home runs. On April eighth, twenty fifteen,
Dodgers a seven to four win over the San Diego
Padres to take the three game series the start to
the year.
Speaker 1 (24:52):
This Dodgers magical moment brought.
Speaker 8 (24:53):

Speaker 8 (25:28):
It's the Dodgers and Padres from pet Go Park in
San Diego. Tyler Glass now the birthday boy, Nestor Cortes,
the leftander going for San Diego. First pitch coming up
at five forty time. Now for the Verizon startup. We're
a little over thirty five minutes away from the start
of the game. Now, Verizon, you can lock in your

eighth with Dave Roberts in Pasadena, all brought to you
(26:11):
by Verizon.
Speaker 1 (26:12):
All right, let's welcome in Charlie Steiner.
Speaker 13 (26:14):
All right, Tim, We're down to the final thirty three
games of the regular season, Flight footed tie for first place,
and last night the Dodgers and the Podres played like it.
Blake Snell was terrific, you, darness was terrific for San Diego.
And one of the things that I came away with
last night.
Speaker 1 (26:31):
I wonder what you're thinking.
Speaker 13 (26:33):
It was a waltz for the Dodgers, But in many ways,
Snell going seven innings, ninety seven pitches as far as
he's gone all year, that was a moral victory. But
moral victories at this point if the season don't count
for all that much.
Speaker 2 (26:48):
No, But I think with a guy, you know, I
think your point's very well taken for guy that's coming
off the injured list, only his sixth start for Snell,
and if we look at what he was able to
do last Saturday a week aldgo today, Hey, that was
also against San Diego. In six innings in that game,
no runs, only five hits in that one. So he
has really kind of stepped it up. They hope that
(27:08):
going to be the story with Tyler glasnow pitching in
Game two. And if you thought it was loud last night,
I would expect it to be even more so tonight
and then again tomorrow afternoon of finale this series. This
has been a frustrating road trip so far, and the
Dodgers four games in Denver against the Rockies, they split
those four. They lose the opening game here in San
(27:29):
Diego and it's well good time that the Dodgers kind
of kick it into gear from an offensive standpoint of
The bats were silent last night, but as you mentioned,
it was rather silent on both sides because of the pitching.
Speaker 13 (27:41):
Darvish was absolutely sensatial. He's one of those guys either
he's lights out or gets his lights lit up.
Speaker 4 (27:47):
Last night he was at his best.
Speaker 2 (27:49):
Yeah, he was, and I thought he changed speeds exceptionally well.
On top of it, Dodds have a couple of guys
in the lineup that need to get it going, and
the number three hitter again is going to be Will Smith.
Has been a rugged lance to fourteen games for will Smith,
hitting below one sixty in that period of time. The
month of August he's hitting below one point eighty. So
(28:09):
Dave Roberts kind of changing the lineup a little bit
around today. Alex call will start in left field, Poles
is in center, Miguel Rojas starts at second base, and
Buddy Kennedy another start over at third.
Speaker 13 (28:21):
He played pretty well over a third last night.
Speaker 2 (28:23):
Yeah, and the defense has not been bad either, in
particular going to his right near the foul line, and
also a couple of barehand pickups on slowly hit ground
balls down the third base line. But for the Dodgers,
I mean, here's the story, Charlie. We've talked about it
many many times, you and I in private conversations. The
Dodgers since the All Star Break have gone fifteen and seventeen.
(28:44):
They're two games below the five hundred.
Speaker 4 (28:45):
Part.
Speaker 2 (28:46):
The Padres, now in a flat footed times you mentioned
in the Western Division, have gone twenty one wins and
only twelve losses since the All Star break. This has
got to be a pretty good message for the Dodgers
to say, hey, to get it up and start to
ride that horse rather fast.
Speaker 13 (29:02):
Dodgers have won only ten of their last twenty, twenty
of their last forty, and thirty of their last sixty.
They've essentially been a five hundred team the second half
of the season.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
Yeah, and in spite of the fact that they won
eight of eleven against San Diego, here they are in
a tie as they start in tonight's ballgame.
Speaker 4 (29:20):
So we're gonna find out.
Speaker 2 (29:21):
The other part, too, is there's kind of a story
within a story because Nestor Cordes is going to start
for the San Diego and Andres last Monday against the Giants.
He gave up three home runs in the first inning.
Speaking of home runs, how about Game one of the
World Series last year. Cordes came in and he faced
Freddy Freeman. What happened? That was the walk off Grand
(29:43):
Slam and Cordas was the author of that pitch that
was in out of the ballpark.
Speaker 13 (29:47):
Tyler Glass now turns thirty two today with this start
and Cortes going for the Padres final game of the
three game series tomorrow, Yamamoto and Pavetta. But tonight, first
things first, Glas now going for the Dodgers and Cortes
for the Padres.
Speaker 8 (30:03):
Tim all right, thank you, Charlie, Thank you Mo. That's
the Dodger game plan. Dodger fans, start your game plan
at a California community college. Financial aids available to help
you with tuition looks and sometimes even the rent. It's
time to take that next big step. What are you
waiting for? Classes are starting for the fall semester. They
can fill it quickly, So in role today and I
can go to college dot com. Still to come here
on Dodgers on Deck. We'll get you a preview of
(30:25):
this bitchat matchup. Stephen and Rick will be back with
the keys of the game. But up next we go
high and tight with Tanner Scott Dodger reliever. It leads
up to Game two of this big three game series
Dodgers Padres first fish of five forty. I'm Tim Kass,
the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers audio note.
Speaker 7 (30:43):
As we were saying yes, is Marongo Casino Dodgers on
deck on the official home of La Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 8 (30:56):
It's the Dodgers and the Padres, Game two of this
three games weekend series from San Diego. Remember last weekend,
Dodgers swept up Padres at Dodgers Stadium. Last night San
Diego held on for a two to one win at
Petco Park to take this series opener. Game two of
this three game set coming up, Tyler Glass now Nestor Cortes.
The pitching matchup Dodgers Baseball is brought to you by
(31:18):
Shaky's Pizza Parlor. Yeah, it's getting ready for dinner time,
the official pizza partner the Dodgers audio broadcast. When it's
game night, it's group night at Shakys dot com.
Speaker 7 (31:28):
And now what will likely be vast a fielding insults
from a Dodger player.
Speaker 1 (31:33):
It's an engagement of endearment.
Speaker 6 (31:34):
This is high and tight.
Speaker 5 (31:37):
Well, it's great to be with Dodger closer Tanner Scott
back in San Diego wearing Dodger blue. He's activated, he's ready,
just waiting for that opportunity. Thanks a lot for the time,
appreciate it, Thanks for having me. I know you get
nervous around me, so just act natural.
Speaker 9 (31:53):
So nervous around you. It's insane.
Speaker 5 (31:56):
It's been a long roadback in some ways right to
get back here, get healthy and be available.
Speaker 9 (32:02):
Yeah, it was a month. Uh I wish it was
like three days, but it turned out to be a month.
And you gotta trust the process and uh not. I
feel good.
Speaker 5 (32:11):
When you're out that long and you're number one trying
to get healthy. But after you get healthy, what are
you trying to do?
Speaker 9 (32:17):
Uh? Put our team in a good spot to win
and and just go out there and and and pitch
and and get out. I mean it's terrible, terrible watching
the team when you can't play for a month and
you just want to be out there, and it feels
good to be back.
Speaker 5 (32:33):
Dave said yesterday that not only did you get healthy,
but you may have tweaked some things mechanically. Did it
help you kind of reset or fix whatever you needed
to fix, considering relievers don't have the luxury of that time.
Speaker 9 (32:46):
Yeah, definitely. I mean, and you get a you get
that time to really work on stuff. And I mean
how how it happened? I was definitely probably a flaw
in my mechanics that we cleaned up and I noticed
on some video and it's it's great. Ever since?
Speaker 5 (33:01):
Do you feel like you belong now with the Dodgers?
Do you feel comfortable coming to a new team. I'm
sure there's that transition period.
Speaker 9 (33:08):
Oh yeah, for sure. I mean I felt comfortable day
one walking in. Everyone was great. I mean I saw
Mookie and he's like, welcome to the family, and that
was That was pretty cool. But no, it feels good.
Speaker 5 (33:19):
What did show Hate tell you when you first came?
Speaker 9 (33:21):
Hey, how's it going? I mean he's a nice guy,
I mean simple.
Speaker 5 (33:25):
Hey, being back here at Petco Park wearing this uniform?
What's it like? What flashes through your mind? Being part
of that side of the rivalry and now being on
this side?
Speaker 9 (33:34):
Oh, I got I got called a trader trader last night,
But I mean, how can I be a trader? I
got traded over here and I was only here two months.
Uh No, it's uh, it's baseball. I mean, whoever's on
the other sides of the enemy. So, I mean, you're
just trying to win. I mean it's every day you're
trying to win. Put your team in a good spot
to be in the playoffs and win the whole thing.
Speaker 5 (33:53):
Are you saying some surfer dude fan out there called
you a trader? Are you saying one of the guys
wearing the brown and orange did.
Speaker 9 (33:59):
Think it's it was Dave or something like that. I'm
joking there for Dave. No, it was just some fan.
It's you get to call it trader.
Speaker 5 (34:07):
And it's like, okay, how would you rank this bullpen
compared to the other hostile environments.
Speaker 9 (34:14):
This is probably the coolest, coolest atmosphere to play in,
just because the fans are always in it. I mean,
they're big games. But uh, I would say Philly is
a good one to play into because, uh they get wild.
Speaker 5 (34:26):
Yeah I've heard that. Oh yeah, they throw things.
Speaker 9 (34:30):
They throw things, talk a lot of crap, and uh,
it is what it.
Speaker 5 (34:33):
Is when you're in the bullpen and you're watching the
game unfold. The electricity in this stadium. I'm sure it
doesn't get lost on you guys.
Speaker 9 (34:42):
No, No, it's I mean the fans. Anytime we're playing,
we're playing the Padre's, it's uh there, everyone's into it
and it's it's exciting.
Speaker 5 (34:50):
When you get with that bullpen, it seems like it's
a team within a team. Is that a fair way.
Speaker 9 (34:55):
To family inside of the big family. Yeah, that's what
I always say. I mean, yeah, you're col with everyone
on the team, but you're closest with the guys down
in the bullpen.
Speaker 5 (35:03):
How about the games that you guys played down there?
I heard the home run games. I know Jonathan Irb,
your trainer caught. I know Tany's.
Speaker 9 (35:09):
Our trainers are winning it right now, unfortunately, but I
got to make a push. Thirty days didn't help me
on the AISL, So I gotta get my name back
up there.
Speaker 5 (35:18):
Are you anxious to get into the game tonight?
Speaker 9 (35:20):
Oh for sure, I'm always anxious.
Speaker 5 (35:21):
Did Dave say you're the closer?
Speaker 9 (35:23):
I have no clue. I just want whenever the phone.
Speaker 5 (35:24):
Rings, what you expect your name to be called?
Speaker 9 (35:28):
Whenever?
Speaker 4 (35:29):
All right?
Speaker 5 (35:30):
Sounds good? Do you want to show off that beautiful
bald head again.
Speaker 9 (35:33):
Nope, that's you. You want to do it.
Speaker 5 (35:35):
No, No, this is great lettuce. Now come on, you
know that, ain't it? Damn Tanner Scott, always giving it
to me.
Speaker 9 (35:43):
I got to you. It's fun.
Speaker 5 (35:45):
It's a love hate relationship.
Speaker 9 (35:47):
More hate, more hate.
Speaker 5 (35:50):
All right, we'll leave it right there. This guy puts
me on a pedestal. He deifies me. It's tough to
live up to those expectations.
Speaker 9 (35:57):
Pedestal like a stepping stool, not a pedestal.
Speaker 5 (36:01):
Get out of here. Thanks there, he is my guy,
Tanner Scott. Sixty six in your program, number ten in
your heart.
Speaker 1 (36:09):
All right, Thank you, DV. Thank you Tanner Scott.
Speaker 8 (36:11):
Great to have the big left hander out of the
bullpen again for the Dodgers.
Speaker 1 (36:15):
Was on the injured list.
Speaker 8 (36:16):
Now he is back and ready to go here the
final five and a half weeks of the regular season.
They may need him tonight down there at Petco Park.
As we lead up to first bitch, Dodgers and Padres
up next, you dive deeper this pitching matchup.
Speaker 1 (36:29):
Don't go anywhere.
Speaker 9 (36:30):
I'm Tim Katson.
Speaker 1 (36:31):
This is the world champion Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 7 (36:39):
This is Morongo Casino Dodgers Hunting game on your home
for La Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 8 (36:47):
It's Dodgers and the Padres on this Saturday night from
Petco Park in San Diego.
Speaker 1 (36:52):
First pitch, it's five forty and.
Speaker 7 (36:54):
Now before the Dodgers hit the dining we look at
the pitching.
Speaker 8 (36:58):
Matchup presented by yourself than California Toyota Dealers, work hard
and play hard and a new Tacoma with an I
Force turbo charged engine. It's a truck built for the bold.
See your Toyota dealer today. They make it easy. Well,
hasn't been easy for Nesta Cortes, the thirty year old
left hander one in two with a five eighty seven ERA.
He's in his eighth season now in the big leagues.
(37:20):
Certainly Dodger fans remember him from last year David Vasseys
and he talks to Freddie Freeman about that. Yep, that
was the walk off Grand Slam in Game one of
the World Series last October. Since then he went to
the Milwaukee Brewers. He was then traded from the Brewers
to the Padres, making his sixth start this season, his
fourth with the Padres been battling some injuries. Last time
(37:41):
out five and two third innings, four runs, seven hits,
three home runs, four walks in a loss to the
Giants on Monday, the only game that, by the way,
the Padres lost in that series against San Francisco. It's
his third career regular season appearance against the Dodgers, zero
to one with the four to ninety one EERRA. Happy Birthday,
Tyler now, thirty two year old right hander on the
(38:02):
mount on his birthday, one in one with the three
twelve EERRA. He's in his second season now with the Dodgers,
spent two and a half months on the injured list,
making it just his thirteen start, making his four start
here in the month of August totally seventeen and two
third innings, twenty three strikeouts and a two to fifty
five ERA, but no wins to show for last time
out five innings, two runs, six hits, eight strikeouts and
(38:24):
a no decision against the Padres last Sunday. Tyler Glass
Now is recorded seventy two strikeouts in fifty seven and
two third innings this season while holding opponents to a
one eighty four batting average. He's been really good just
doesn't have the enough starts because of the injuries. He
is still searching for his first win against San Diego.
No wins, no losses, two to seventy nine ra in
seven career games, four starts against the Padres. Tyler Glass
(38:48):
now Nestor Cortes Dodgers Padres.
Speaker 1 (38:51):
We're fifteen minutes away for first pitch. Keys to the
game are next.
Speaker 9 (38:54):
I'm Tim Kates is.
Speaker 1 (38:55):
The world champion Los Angeles Dodgers. AUO Network.
Speaker 6 (39:00):
Is Marongo Casino Dodgers on deack on your Home for
the Blue all season long.
Speaker 8 (39:09):
Hits the Dodgers and the Padres on the Saturday night
game two of this three game set. Padres took the
opener last night two to one, behind you Darbish's pitching performance.
Dodgers need to get the offense going tonight, as the
Dodgers and Padres find themselves all toied atop the NL
West going into action tonight. First pitch coming up at
(39:31):
five point forty. Before that, though, we head back out
to the booth. Two guys on the call one final time,
Steven Nelson and Rick Monday.
Speaker 10 (39:36):
Guys, all right, TC, A quick hitter for you, Rick
Monday and I Beck at Pickle Park, approaching first pitching
Game two, Nestor Cortez facing the Dodgers for the first
time since last year's World Series when he was with
the New York Yankees against Tyler Glass, now the right
hander for La give me a key.
Speaker 2 (39:53):
Well, which Nestor corters do we see? On Monday? He
gave up three home runs to the Giants in the
very first inning. If you go back the game one
of the World Series that you made mentioned that was
the walk off Grand Slam that he gave up to
Freddie Freeman. So which courts will we see? He's give
it up nine home runs already. This is only his
sixth start. And if we look at the Cordez one
(40:14):
game in March, one game in April, then he was
sent down and had some injuries. Three games so far
in August. Tyler Glasnow, one thing about it, challenge hitters
go right after it. He has allowed just a one
eighty four batting average against him. In the six foot
eight right hander. When he is throwing strikes and attacking hitters,
he's tough.
Speaker 10 (40:33):
Baseball games do not come down to one or two players,
but I am looking at one and two players here. Tonight,
Will Smith and Taoscar Hernandez. Will Smith oh for four
with three strikeouts last night. Taioscar Hernandez oh for four
with three strikeouts last night, and Smith hitless in four
consecutive games against the Padres oh for fourteen in that stretch.
(40:54):
He's having his first cold month of the year. It
is coming at the worst time for the Dodgers. They
need more from guys Smith and Tioscar Hernandez in these
big games.
Speaker 1 (41:03):
Point blank period. Tim back to you, all.
Speaker 8 (41:06):
Right, first pitch is next Dodgers and Padres, Game two
of this three game series. First place on the line
in the NL West. Winner tonight goes one game up
in the division, with a final game tomorrow at pet
Goo Park.
Speaker 1 (41:21):
Afterwards, all off the Clubhouse Show.
Speaker 8 (41:22):
David Vess'll be back with Dodger Talk when this is
all over. Dodgers Padres from San Diego is next. This
has been Moroco Casino Dodgers on Deck on the World
champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.
