Speaker 1 (00:41):
Tim kass Hi, everybody, and welcome in to my Wrongo
Casino Dodgers on deck on this beautiful, warm Wednesday afternoon
here in southern California. As your Dodger sixty six and
forty eight on this season, first place atop the NL West.
Three games up on the San Diego Padres today, the
(01:03):
rubber game of this three game set against the Saint
Louis Cardinals. It's show Hey Otani Day out at the Ravine.
Literally is show Heotani Ring Day His replica World Championship
Ring for the first forty thou attendance. Also show Hey
Otani getting this start today for the Dodgers, and you're
designated hitter in the Dodgers lineup. First pitch from Dodgers
(01:26):
Stadium is coming up at one time between then and now,
we got a lot to get to here. On Morongo
Casino Dodgers on Deck, you're gonna hear from Dodger rookie
Alex Friedland. He is off to a blistering start here
since getting called up from TRIPAA Oklahoma City. David Vassay,
we'll check in throughout the show. We'll hear from the manager,
Dave Roberts, his pregame thoughts, You're Dodgers, magical moment, the
(01:46):
latest on the Dodgers injury. Shortly, Kirsten Watson will join
us live from the field at Dodgers Stadium, and in
just a few minutes we'll head out to the Gallpin
Motors broadcast booth with Tim Neverett and Rick Monday. Well,
last night it was an offensive explore lotion for the
Dodgers and it's exactly what they needed. Im she and
got the start. He'd go five Indians allowed two runs
(02:07):
on four hits while striking out five along the way.
Then he turned it over to the Dodgers' bullpen. But
the Dodgers scored early, and they scored often. Freddie Freeman
a sack fly in the first scoring show Hey Dodgers
grabbed a one nothing lead than Max Munsey with a
solo home run, a four hundred and sixteen foot blast
to right center field, his fourteenth of the season. The
(02:28):
Dodgers were up two to nothing, but the Cardinals got
that runs back in the second innings. We're tied at
two in the third when Max Munsey did it again.
Speaker 4 (02:37):
One's playball, ampm too much good stuff. HUNSI swings hits
a drive right center field that's pop back and is gone.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
He's done it again.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
Two home runs on the night for Monsey and the
Dodgers lead it four to two.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
Boy, he's got that home run struped.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
Back, Yes, he does. Number fifteen on the season is
second of the nights the Dodgers afforded to lead. Right
behind them ta Oscar Hernandez back to back home runs.
If five to two Dodgers lead, Dodgers would be up
five to three going to the bottom of the third
inning when they really powered it on Max Munsey and
RBI single. What a night he had last night. Dodgers
(03:18):
up six to three, Max Munsey had already homer twice.
Ta Oscar Hernandez already already homer in the third. Could
Tao do it again in the seventh?
Speaker 4 (03:26):
Yes, Grenelle out of the stretch, checks the runners, and
the right hander comes to the plate and this ball
is said.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
Hi indeap the center failed.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
Way back in gone a home.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
Run Taioscar Hernandez his second of the game, a three
run shot, and the Dodgers lead at nine to three.
Speaker 3 (03:49):
Oh, what a blast by Teoscar.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
Tay Oscar does in fact go deep again, his second
of the night, eighteenth on the year for Tao. Dodgers
up now nine to three. Freddy or Alex Freeland, then
an RBI single made it a ten to three game.
The Dodgers portered on in the eighth inning with a
few more runs two more to be exact. They go
on and win it by a final of twelve to six.
(04:12):
One a night an offensive explosion for the Dodgers, twelve
runs on seventeen hits, Max Munsey his fourth multi home
run game of the season, and that is a top
tier player. The game brought to you by Arco Quality
top Tier Gas for Less is the first time the
Dodgers have had two players with multi home runs in
the same game since April twenty second of twenty twenty three.
Mookie Betts, by the way, snapped his zero for twenty
(04:34):
two hitless streak in a career long five game hitless
streak with a double in the third inning last night.
His single in the fifth inny minute his first multi
hit game since July twenty ninth against the Reds, Andie
Pie has got into the fun, recording two doubles last
night for the second time this season. Dodgers win it
twelve to six. Shoe Otani was two for four last
night with a walk as the Dodgers did everything right offensively,
(04:56):
and then Sheihan picks up the win, his third of
this season as the Rodgers bulltep bullpen takes care of
the final four innings of work. Dodgers now sixty six
and forty eight on this season. Back at it today,
day game after a night game and show hey Otani
on the mound first pitcher one ten and with more,
let's head out to the Galpin Motors Broadcast booth, as
we say hello and good afternoon to Tim NEVERERT and
(05:17):
Rick Monday.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
Guys, Tim, thanks very much.
Speaker 4 (05:19):
We've got a beautiful afternoon for baseball at Dodgers Stadium
day game in the final game of this three game set.
It's the rubber game winner. This wins the series. Dodgers winning.
Last night, they broke out the bats. They were a
little bit slow in recent days, but seventeen hits last night,
twelve runs on the board, Monsey with two home runs,
Tay Oscar with two home runs, Mookie Benz with three hits,
(05:41):
and the hit parade was on. They had nine extra
base hits in the ballgame two. The Dodgers just did
whatever they needed to do offensively and got the job done.
Had some decent pitching from mhg and two Yeah.
Speaker 6 (05:55):
Absolutely in five innings for She and two runs and
none of those were earned. Did give up a home
run after an air was made in that second ending,
but walked only one batter and for San just gradually
stretching things out and the workload also very light for
the bullpen. Bullpen gave up a couple of runs, but
the bullpen. If we start to look now the last
ten games in particular, they have had a rather high workload.
(06:19):
But boy, that have they answered the bell and just
kind of shutting down the offense of the other ball club.
Speaker 4 (06:23):
Now today show hey Otani is on the mound. He's
also leading off and his next hit will be his
one thousandth career hit. So on milestone. Watch for show
hey Otani, who is not homered in his last nine games.
It's the second longest home run drought of the season,
so he's due.
Speaker 6 (06:42):
And meanwhile, at the middle of the lineup, as you mentioned,
I mean between Muncie and Tiasca Hernanez eight runs back
in four home runs between them. Munsey will not be
in the starting lineup. This was playing two games after
coming off the injured list. So it's going to be
Alex Freeland will be at third base. Alex call is
going to get the chance in left field, Evil start
(07:03):
at Miguel Rojas is at second base. Everything else kind
of remains the same, he said. Will Smith back in
there again doing the catching and batting in the three spot.
Speaker 4 (07:11):
A lot of right handers in the lineup against Matthew
Libertor of the Cardinals. Cardinals, meantime had a scratch in
the lineup. Wilson Contreras was originally sent to go. He
was taken out. Jordan Walker replaces him to face show
Hey Otani at least for the first four innings today.
The Cardinals have lost twenty of their last thirty games.
(07:33):
And this is a ball club mode that is looking
at missing the playoffs for the third straight year. They're
not used to that in Saint Lo No.
Speaker 6 (07:39):
And you start to look at the wild card teams
and here we are on the sixth of August and
the wild card teams, yeah, they play large. And for
the Cardinals, they're six and a half back, so they
need to try and hold on desperately and kind of
turn the ship. They've won three of the five games
this year against the Dodgers. Dodgers will like to win
this one and start off with a series win before
(08:02):
they have the off day tomorrow. And then the Toronto
Blue Jays, a very good team and leading the Eastern
Division of the America League that come in over the weekend.
Speaker 4 (08:10):
A lot of work on the field today for a
day game. Lots of folks out working early. Hessan Kim
was out taking ground balls. He's still on the injured list.
He k Hernandez was doing some conditioning, and many of
the pitchers were out throwing, including Clayton Kershaw and Blake Snell,
Roki Sasaki and a couple of relievers throwing again on
flat ground back to back days, Michael Kopek and Tanner Scott.
Speaker 6 (08:34):
Well, before we take the break, one thing too is
if you look at this Dodger Balk club the last
eleven games, the offense is starting to work on all
the cylinders. Yes, Max Munsey is back on top of that,
not in the lineup today as mentioned earlier, but the
last eleven games, the Dodgers went opportunity to score runners
in scoring position or hitting three nineteen. That's the plus sign.
The other part, too, is they've shut down the opposing
(08:56):
teams because over those eleven games they've allowed just a
one night batting average against when they've had a chance
to knock in a run.
Speaker 4 (09:03):
Dodgers looking to win the series, searching for win numbers
sixty seven show, Hey Otani, we'll start on the mound.
Matthew Librator will go for the Cardinals.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
Tim all right, thank you guys, as we count you
down to first pitch, Dodger fans, what are you doing
for lunch? How about getting your game day meal on
a Shaky's Pizza parlor. What are your Shaky's Pizza, Chicken
and Mojo's right now at Shakys dot com. All right,
we're off and running here on Dodgers on Deck. Coming up,
you're gonna hear from the Maager, Dave Roberts. You're gonna
hear from Alex Freeland. Who's in the lineup playing third
(09:33):
base today, Max Mounsey a day off. We'll check in
with David vas Day. Of course, throughout the show, we'll
dive deeper into this pitching matchup with show Hey Otani
on the mound. But up next your Otani Rewe and
we'll go live to the field with Kirsten Watson from
Sports in LA. That's all coming up as we lead
you up to Dodgers and Cardinals on this Wednesday afternoon.
Thanks for being with us. I'm Tim kats Is, the
(09:55):
world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
This is Morongo Casino Dodgers Hunting Game on your home
for LA Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
Dodgers and Cardinals on this Wednesday afternoon show. Hey Otani
and Matthew libertore the pitching MATCHIP Dodgers going for the
series win. First pitcher one ten.
Speaker 4 (10:18):
This is the Otani rewide one two has pelted in
the right center field. That's a base hit and it's
gonna force the right fielder Jordan Walker to go down
and slide and stop it. And then gets Otani around
first into second for his fifteenth double of the season.
There goes Otani for second base and he's just gonna get.
Speaker 3 (10:41):
It for absolutely free.
Speaker 4 (10:42):
They didn't even try. He steals his sixteenth face oh
two pitch to Otani. He swings hits it off the
end of the match, slowly toward third. He's charging toward first.
Gorman throws He's got no chance and show hey O'tani.
Speaker 3 (10:59):
With career nine hundred and ninety nine.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
He is getting close to one thousand. Could it be today?
Last night, Showyotani two for four on base with three
times including a walk. He had a stolen base number
sixteen on the season. Now one hit shy of one
thousand in his career. Could he do it today? He's
on the mound, he's a designated hitter, and it's showey
Otani Replica World Series at ring day and the Dodgers
(11:26):
going for the series win first pitch at one ten.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
This is Kirston's corner with Kirston Watson.
Speaker 1 (11:33):
Hey, Kirston joins us, brought to you by Cars for Kids.
Ready to donate that old car? Call eight seven to
seven Cars for Kids right now. Friendly agents are standing
by to take your donation. That's Cars with the K
to donate your car today. It's the rubber game of
this three game set show Hey Otani on the Mount
and all the fans getting show Hey Otani World Series Rings.
(11:54):
But what do we expect today at a show?
Speaker 2 (11:57):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (11:57):
Well, first let me say the line in we should
have known coming in Dodger Stadium honestly at like nine
p thirty this morning. Line all the way down the hill,
because what more could you ask for a show? Hen
Toney World Series Rings plus at the start day and
he's the thh I thought. I feel like a dream
come troup for so many fans, especially when it comes
to a giveaway. But like you said, for show Hairshani
(12:18):
to plan for him is going to be four innings.
We know in his last outing he wasn't able to
the whole plan was per porning to that one, but
he wasn't able to get through four. He got into
the fourth, but he was stilling with some cramping and
his hip and so the stuff just wasn't there. He
wasn't as effective walking guys things like that. So when
he came out of that game, though, he's as much
as he wasn't able to get through four, and he
(12:39):
said work, he did still feel good about just where
the pitch count was at. He was at fifty three
pitches and that's the most he has thrown this far
this year. So for today, Dave was just saying the
cramping has subsided. He feels good. Obviously, you saw him
as the DH all of these games in between the
start dats, so hopefully he can just kind of continue
to get things going pitching wise.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
But he feels good.
Speaker 7 (13:00):
Hey, hopefully you'll put on a show for literally his
day today.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
Yeah, it is all about show, hey, Otani. Today. Last
night it was all about the offense. Kirston the Dodgers
scored twelve runs on seventeen hits. He got multiple home
run games from Max Munsey and ta Oscar Hernandez. Hopefully
they saved some of that offense for today.
Speaker 7 (13:21):
Yeah, honestly, but you know what, when you have a
game like that, there is something too. It's just been
like the confidence kicking back in. We've seen guys who
have been grinding as of late, whether it's Nicky Bets,
whether it's the other guys I've been down the line up,
but we've seen Freddy Freeman get back on track. He's
been excellent for Taoskar Heranda to have a game like yesterday,
for Max Month to pick up where he left off
(13:43):
free in three knee injuries. You know, those moments are
huge for just continuing to feel confidence in guys, and
even to someone like Luky Bets, we have been talking
about just the grind that he has been going through
and how you know, even last night when he spokes
to the media, he was like, well, you know, last
time we had this conversation, he went do it for
twenty and he doesn't necessarily know if something is different,
(14:03):
but how just whether his teammates are seeing him, how
Dave Roberts is seeing him, the smile that he had yesterday,
it does seem like something is starting to click. So
the hope is that he can also just carry that
over into this one. They obviously want to give some
more run support. But when you're seeing the one two
punch of Max and tayot the top of the order
getting going, it does feel like things right now are
(14:25):
turning a corner and the offense is getting going. So
now we just want to see that consistency with the offense,
not the up and down.
Speaker 1 (14:32):
Yeah, let's do it again today and then do it
again on Friday, and then keep it going with the offense. Kirsten,
we appreciate it. We'll check you out on Sports in NLA.
Still to come here on Moroco Casino Dodgers on Deck.
We'll hear from David Vass. He goes one on one
with Alex Freeland. But up next we get you an
injury report and we hear from the manager, Dave Roberts.
We lead up the first pitch on this Wednesday Dodgers
and Cardinals. I'm Tim Kass, the world champion Los Angeles
(14:54):
Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 2 (14:58):
This is MA Wrongo because Casino Dodgers on deech on
your home for the Blue all season Law.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
Maroango Casino Dodgers on Deck continues as we lead you
up to first pitch Dodgers and the Cardinals Moronco Casino
Resort in Spa, A Grand Slam for a good time show.
Hey o Tani and Matthew Libertore. The pitching matchup, first
pitch coming up at one Ten's the LA Dodgers Injury
Report presented by UCLA Healthy, Official Medical partner of the
(15:31):
Los Angeles Dodgers. Kirby Yates on the iel with lower
back pain, Tanner Scott on the IL with lower forearm soreness.
More on that coming up with David vet Say Keiky
Hernandez actually got some good news. He is left elbow soreness,
is feeling a lot better. He's doing some base running
and starting to do more and more baseball activities. That
is great news. Roki Sasaki Michael Kopek also trending in
(15:53):
the right directions to return. Speaking of return, let's return
out to the ravine and checking with the Dodgers skipper.
Speaker 5 (15:58):
Anything else for.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
Questions for Dave, Dave, can you just describe Dave?
Speaker 3 (16:03):
Can you talk about the pressure.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
In the dugouts with Dave Robberts?
Speaker 5 (16:09):
Yay? Dave.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
How's Otani feeling coming into this start? Obviously the last
time he had to come out with right hip, cram Sev.
What are the reports you've gotten leading up to today?
Speaker 8 (16:20):
Up today, he feels good. I haven't heard anything as
far as any kind of carryover from Cincinnati. Obviously he's
played every day. As far as hitting, running well, I
think it's going to be a full fore innings and
we'll go from there.
Speaker 3 (16:38):
What have you seen as far as the evolution of
him from the first start he made to where he's
stretched out to now?
Speaker 8 (16:46):
You know, I think the last one is a hard
one to gauge, given the cramps that he was going through,
But I think overall, the command is better. I think
he feels good using his entire pitch mix. I like
seeing him stretched out obviously, and we're seeing more edge.
(17:11):
I think we show Hey, that's the one thing I
really stands out, is it when he pitches, he transforms
into a different type of person player As far as
kind of the mindset.
Speaker 9 (17:23):
Obviously, you weren't around when the Angels out throwing the
splitter as much that that sort of tied to the
past elbow.
Speaker 5 (17:29):
Stuff with him. You know, I don't know that answer.
Speaker 8 (17:33):
I know there's some more two seamers in there, which
sort of just trying to have something with depth. I
know there's a sweeper in there, but yeah, I don't
know that answer.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
Yeah, all right, there's the manager Dave Roberts pre game
with the media just a few minutes ago, and we
continue here on Marongo Casino Dodges on Deck. We'll check
in with the David Van Say he leaves out the
first pitch Dodgers and Cardinals show. Hey, o toany on
the mount first pitch at one ten. I'm tim kay,
this is a world champion Los Angeles Dodgers audio.
Speaker 5 (18:02):
Know it.
Speaker 3 (18:05):
As we were saying.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
This is Marongo Casino Dodgers on tack on the official
home of La Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
It's a Dodgers and the Saint Louis Cardinals on this
Wednesday afternoon show. Hey Otani and Matthew libertore the pitching
matchup First Pitching Dodger Stadium is coming up at one ten.
Speaker 2 (18:28):
Joining Tim Kats on Dodgers on Deck.
Speaker 3 (18:31):
I accept everybody for who they are.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
This is Dodger insider David Basse.
Speaker 1 (18:37):
And David now joins us from the stadium. It's a
one o'clock first pitch with Sho Hey Otani on the mound.
More on that in a second. Last night, Mookie bets David,
has he come out of his funk? Now?
Speaker 3 (18:49):
Well, MOOKI had a really good one game on the
road trip in Cincinnati and then the rest of it
started to go down a slide. Last night, Mookie Bets
snapped an for twenty two hitless streak and had three
hits scored three times. He had a double in front
of Max Munsey's two run home run, and Mookie talked
(19:10):
about the Dodger fans showing him support the last two nights.
Speaker 10 (19:14):
It's been a beautiful thing, and so I thank you
to all the Dodger fans that have you know, just
getting that, Oh, I wouldn't call it elevation, but whatever
it is, it's super special. It's the first time I've
ever gotten anything like that, So obviously I would prefer
not to. But you know, if I'm in this situation
and I know that a Dodger stadium is behind me,
(19:37):
there's a it's just a good thing to know that
you're you're supported.
Speaker 3 (19:41):
So I guess, like Mookie says, you're only as good
as your last game. Every time he believes he's turned
the corner, he starts to go down into another slump.
Today is important for Mookie to get results back to
back games, something that we haven't seen in quite some time.
Speaker 1 (19:55):
Tim David is brought to you by the twenty twenty
five four f one to fifty from California's best selling
truck brand. It's time to see Ford in a new light.
Ford for America from America. All right, shoe Aotani on
the mount Last time he was on the mountain, David,
he had to come out of the game in Cincinnati
with the hip.
Speaker 3 (20:11):
Yeah, the right hip started to cramp on him. In Cincinnati.
It was hot and humid. Obviously it's going to be
a warm day. It's already warm here at Dodger Stadium.
But you would imagine that he'll be able to handle it.
I have not observed him skipping any throwing going back
to Tampa where it was really hot, so he hasn't
(20:32):
changed his throwing program to get ready for this start today.
And you would imagine now Dave Roberts has said no
more piggybacking, but Justin Robleski is in the Dodger bullpen
and also on standby.
Speaker 1 (20:45):
David will Smith is having himself a really good season.
We hear about Freddy Freeman, how great of a hitter
he is, and his batting average always over three hundred
in his career. Will Smith, though quietly having an MVP season.
Speaker 3 (20:59):
He really is tim right now as we start this game.
He is not a qualified hitter for the batting title
because the Dodgers that are giving him more days off
than he has had in any of the last three
or four years. But he just needs five more plate
appearances today to qualify. Again, he seems to qualify than
when he sits out. Is not qualified for the batting title.
(21:22):
But the reality is when Will Smith is not starting
in a game, the Dodgers are just eleven and seventeen.
Last night they got a rare win without Will Smith
in the starting lineup. He's hitting three twenty one. He's
one of the best hitters with runners in scoring position.
And everybody's talking about Schwarber and Pete Crow, Armstrong and
(21:43):
sho Hey Otani, and rightfully so. But Will Smith certainly
right now should be in the conversation as one of
the top five most valuable players in the National League.
Speaker 1 (21:52):
David is Dodgers team getting healthy. We've been talking about
it for weeks. Guys are starting to trickle back. Bullpen
help starting help Max. He's back in third base and
the bullpen. It looks like it could be getting even
healthier here on the horizon.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
Right Yeah, this morning Michael Kopek and Tanner Scott were
throwing off flat ground. They have lockers right next to
each other, and they both told me yesterday simultaneously, we
don't know what else we have to do to pitch,
but I guess the Dodgers want them to check a
couple of more boxes. Tanner Scott has thrown two bullpen
sessions in the last handful of days. They're both ready
(22:28):
to go sometimes. Dave Roberts, you know, obviously always protecting
his players overplays just how they're feeling. But he's spot
on when he said both of them are chumping at
the bit to get back into pitch. So uh, they're
ready to go whenever the Dodgers want to release. The
dogs love it.
Speaker 1 (22:46):
The Dodgers need some more help in that bullpen, and
it is coming soon. They can. Devil will check in
with you in just a little bit still to come
here on Morongo, because you know, Dodgers on deck will
dive deeper to this pitching matchup as well. But up
next your Dodgers Magical Moment. If the Dodgers and Cardinals

Speaker 2 (25:07):
This is Marongo Casino, Dodgers on Deck on your home
for the Blue All season logs.
Speaker 1 (25:17):
It's the Dodgers and Cardinals on this Wednesday afternoon show.
Hey o Tani on the Mound, First pitch and won ten.

Verizon startup is we're a little more than thirty minutes
away from the start of the game. Now at Verizon

(25:39):

Speaker 2 (25:39):
Joined by David Basse, Here's La Dodgers broadcaster and World
Series champion Dodger Rick Monday.
Speaker 3 (25:47):
Rick the Dodgers trying to win another series. They won
the final two on the road trip today is important
for the Dodgers.
Speaker 6 (25:53):
Well, you know you're the I can't say instigator, you
are the director. I should say emotion because the other
night you were talking about, Hey, look when Molkey Bets
comes back into town the first game back off the
road trip standing ovation right, Well it didn't work that night,
but it worked last night. And welcome back Mooky Bets,
Welcome back Power Dodgers with four home runs in last
(26:14):
night's ballgame, and welcome back to Max Munsey only a
second game back off the injury list. Two home runs. Monsey,
by the way, knocked in four runs and the guy
right behind him, Dasker her And is also with a
couple of home runs he knocked in for himself. So
the offense really scattered around two guys.
Speaker 4 (26:33):
Rick.
Speaker 3 (26:33):
I'm not sure if you noticed, but I'm an emotional guy.
Speaker 6 (26:36):
Yeah, yeah, I noticed that, Yeah very much.
Speaker 2 (26:38):
So.
Speaker 3 (26:39):
Yeah, did I overstate things on an emotional night? For
Max months he may be the glue of this Dodger offense.
Speaker 6 (26:45):
No, it was a good night overall, not only seeing
the ball game here in the reaction to crowd, but
just listening to some of your callers on the post
game Dodger talk that worked out well. You and I
were having some fun a minute ago, and I just
threw something at you, and I said, who was the
only picture that won at least five hundred games in
his major league career that never won the Cy Young Award?
Cy Young?
Speaker 3 (27:07):
Is that one of those unwritten baseball rules?
Speaker 6 (27:09):
No, no, it's not. But there's weird things that then happened.
How about on this date nineteen o eight, Ty Cobb
decided to get married. He left the ball club for
six days, never told the club he was going to
be leaving, and the co owner of the team was
not real happy. He say, is the most arrogant act
he'd ever heard of his baseball career.
Speaker 3 (27:30):
That seems on brand for Ty Cobb.
Speaker 6 (27:32):
Yeah, yeah, he was. Yeah, he was not warm and fuzzy.
Speaker 3 (27:36):
No he wasn't. No, But the Dodgers have a lot
of type of those guys. I mean, Freddie Freeman's the
first Dodger player on the field earlier this morning getting
ready for the game.
Speaker 6 (27:45):
And Freddy knocked in two runs also last night, not
to be overlooked, both with the sacrifice flies I mentioned
also last night, and we'll talk about it on the
pregame show as well in a couple of different spots,
and probably in the game too. The Dodgers in their
pitching has been and really consistent because if you start
to look now in the last ten games and then
(28:06):
now you can carry it over unto eleven games as well,
you know, their collective vra is barely above two point six,
so they're really doing the job. And finally the offense
got on track last night. That's very refreshing. The defense
has been kind of iffy on the road trip, but
that played large as well last night. So hopefully this
is something to turn around. I think from a player standpoint, David,
(28:29):
when you begin to get players healthy and we're talking
about main cogs in the big wheel of the Dodgers,
you're getting guys healthy back Monci the most recent. We
look at Snow, we look at Glasnow, some other guys
are getting closer and closer. I think that really boosts
up the morale of a team.
Speaker 3 (28:47):
And even though he hasn't gone on the il since May,
you hope ta Oscar Hernandez has found something and is
more comfortable physically.
Speaker 6 (28:56):
Yeah, And what we have not seen the last couple
of days with the Tascar Hernandez he has not expanded
the strike zone because that was one of the problems
he was having, in particular with the slider, which the
slider is not an easy pitch to hit. He's not
the only one who's had difficulty with sliders. Everybody And
if you look at Major League Baseball on the batting
averages against, if you're listing different pitches, the slider is
(29:19):
going to be on the bottom part of the totem
pole as far as good averages against it. It's a
tough pitch if you have a good slider.
Speaker 3 (29:25):
I mean, at this point in time in the season.
Rake ta Oscar alluded to this after the game last night.
The voices are getting louder where guys that the Dodgers
are counting on need to start stepping.
Speaker 6 (29:37):
Up, and the importance of games is getting bigger and
bigger as well, because you know, you start to look
at what's going on. There are now what forty eight
games left, that's amazing in the regular schedule, somewhere right
around forty eight forty nine, and there's only now fifty
five days left in the season. So you know, this
(29:59):
is this is coming down to crunch time. The pondres
are not going away in the Western Division, and you know,
the Dodgers have been able to maintain that lead for
a considerable period of time, but there is still a
nocean to swim before the season really comes to a completion.
Speaker 3 (30:14):
That's why it's important to win another series. Today's that day, Rick.
Speaker 6 (30:18):
Yeah, well you're doing dual dual purpose today radio.
Speaker 3 (30:21):
And TV emotional on a simulcast.
Speaker 6 (30:23):
Oh yeah, absolutely, stay cool out there.
Speaker 3 (30:26):
By the way, thanks for the help, Rick, appreciate it.
We'll send it back to you in the studio.
Speaker 1 (30:29):

at Shaky's dot Com day.
Speaker 2 (31:37):
And now what will likely be vassy fielding insults from
a Dodger player.
Speaker 1 (31:42):
It's an engagement of endearment.
Speaker 3 (31:43):
This is high and tugged all right. He's here in
the living flesh, having a great time at the big
league level and doing whatever the Dodgers need. That's the
one and only mullet Mustache himself. Alex Freeland, thanks a
lot for the time.
Speaker 5 (31:58):
Thank you for having me on. Thank you man.
Speaker 3 (32:00):
I'm glad to share you with the fans because I
know you're having a blast whether you're in Oklahoma City,
but it's I'm sure a lot more special doing it here.
Speaker 9 (32:08):
Yeah, a lot more special, a lot more fun. There's
no place like this, So I'm taking in every moment.
Speaker 3 (32:14):
How have you been able to just stay grounded and
not be overwhelmed by all this?
Speaker 9 (32:19):
I mean, there's a lot going on already. I don't
I don't think I need to add anything to it,
and so I just go out there and keep it,
keep it baseball, and just play.
Speaker 3 (32:28):
So so far in your first week in Major league baseball,
You've got your first hit from both sides of the plate.
You've driven in your first run, You've have two. You
played behind Clayton Kershaw on the road trip and today
you're gonna play behind showe. Hey o, tany, that's quite
a week.
Speaker 5 (32:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (32:45):
My debut was with Shoe on the mountain Sancy, so
it was pretty cool. Hopefully I can make up for
that miss ball that I had and then we'll be
on we'll be on talking terms again.
Speaker 8 (32:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (32:56):
Does he Does he know your name?
Speaker 5 (32:59):
I don't know, Ask him? Ask him.
Speaker 3 (33:02):
Alex Freeland is our guest. Alex. I feel like in
some points you're somewhat of an inspiration for young people
that have to overcome a lot. For those that don't know,
Alex was born with the club right foot. I know
you don't focus on it. You've overcome it, you're a
major league player, But do you feel like you're an
inspiration for young kids.
Speaker 9 (33:22):
I've definitely had some people reach out to me and
and and give me some kind words and say that
they're very inspirational. I mean, just my message to to
any kid out there that has to overcomes them, it's
not impossible.
Speaker 5 (33:38):
You know, you just gotta you gotta get to the top.
Speaker 9 (33:40):
Of the mountain and you can ride ride it on down,
but just keep going, putting one foot in front of
the other and just keep going.
Speaker 3 (33:48):
How many surgeries did you have to have on that
right foot?
Speaker 9 (33:51):
I think I had one full foot reconstruction and then
one other minor uh.
Speaker 5 (33:57):
Surgery to put like a couple of screws in. But
that was about it.
Speaker 3 (34:00):
When did you know that this dream could be realized?
Speaker 9 (34:04):
I mean I always thought about it, like growing up
as a kid, like this is the only thing that
I ever wanted to do is to play major League baseball.
Speaker 5 (34:11):
I think around uh, like high school.
Speaker 9 (34:15):
Like my junior senior year, it became like a reality
in some sense, like where I was like, yeah, like
maybe I can do this.
Speaker 5 (34:22):
So not around that time.
Speaker 3 (34:24):
I know you're a fun loving guy. Your teammates love you,
whether it's okay see Tulsa Dodger Stadium. But from what
coaches told me, you're very detail oriented. Do people mistaken
your outward personality for just how serious you take it?
Speaker 9 (34:41):
I mean, I'm I definitely have an outward personality like
in the clubhouse and on the field, but like when
it's time to do my work, like I'm gonna be
focused and I'm very I'm very detail oriented, Like I
take it serious, like this this is yes, it's it's
a game that we get to play.
Speaker 5 (34:57):
But it's my job.
Speaker 9 (34:58):
So I'm gonna try and get better every day and
take that work serious.
Speaker 3 (35:02):
What are the details? Is it trying to pick up
something from the picture. Is it coming out here to
do early work? What it exactly is paying attention to
the details.
Speaker 9 (35:11):
It's everything, like every aspect by coming out here to
do early work, like making sure like yeah, the drills
might be easy, but like how focused can I be
doing these easy drills, and like how do I be
an expert at them? And as far as like pitching
and hitting stuff like that, Like we have we have
(35:32):
all the tools in the world to be better, So
I try and use those tools and study pictures and
study study plans. So I mean, just any little thing
that can help me. I'm trying to trying to be
a master at it.
Speaker 3 (35:45):
I feel like your whole life is baseball. I don't
know anything about you except that you asked me for
music recommendations and you didn't use it.
Speaker 9 (35:52):
Yeah, you you gave me some bad recommendations.
Speaker 5 (35:56):
Some bad recommendations.
Speaker 3 (35:58):
Oh my gosh, slimsh some poison. Come on. It feels
like that's who you are. No, all right, man, nothing
but a good time.
Speaker 5 (36:07):
Yeah, okay, I'll give you that one. I'll give you
that one. Uh, I mean yeah, Baseball.
Speaker 9 (36:12):
Is the only thing that I've ever wanted to do.
I mean, of course, there's like other stuff that I
like to do, but like I like the golf and
fish and I'm a huge homebody, so like I'd much
rather stay inside and just chill, hang out, keep to myself.
Speaker 3 (36:30):
All right, sounds good. We'll allow you to do that.
Speaker 5 (36:35):
Finally, since you've been all over.
Speaker 3 (36:37):
Men, you've been all over me since spring training. Let's
not get it twisted.
Speaker 5 (36:41):
He's lying.
Speaker 3 (36:42):
There's the man, Alex Freeland starting at third base today.
Speaker 1 (36:45):
All right, thanks a lot, DV, Thanks a lot, Alex.

Matchupresent about your southern California Toyota dealers work hard and
play hard in a New Tacoma with an I Force
turbo charts engine. It's a truck built for the bold.
See your Toyota dealer today, They make it easy. Matthew
libertore on the mound for the Cardinals, twenty five year
old left hander, first round pick of the race back
in twenty eighteen, now with the Cardinals, came up in
twenty twenty, fourth season, now in the big leagues, making
his twenty first start this season. He throws five pitches,
(37:42):
but primarily a four seam fastball and a slider. Been
up and down this season. After winning three state three straight.
In June, Libertoor went zero to two with a six
fifty seven ERA and three starts in July. Last time
out four and the third eighty four runs, four hits,
one strikeout, two walks in the loss to the Padres,
leftenanted hitters batting just one ninety him his first thirteen
starts since then, though last six they're hitting three seventy
(38:05):
with five doubles in a home run, making his first
career start against the Dodgers, his seventh career appearance. Show
Hey Otani on the mound for the Dodgers, Oh and
O with the two to forty era thirty one year
old right hitter and making his eight start this season.
Show Hey primarily throwing that fastball in the sweeper. Show
Hey last time out. Three plus innings, two runs, five hits,
four strikeouts, two walks before leaving the game with cramps
(38:27):
in his right hip. Show Hey has shown no ill
effects SOO from that cramping in Cincinnati. In fact, he's
been the team's designated hitter in every game since then,
and the plan is for him to have four innings today.
In his lone start against the Cardinals in twenty twenty three,
he gave it four runs on four hits, including two
home runs, but also he had thirteen strikeouts when he
was with the Angels. Show Hey Otani, Matthew Libertor, Dodgers
(38:49):
and Cardinals were fifteen minutes away from first pitch. Keys
to the game bar Next, I'm Tim Kais's the World
Champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 2 (39:00):
This is Marongo Casino Dodgers on deck on your home
for the Blue All Season log.
Speaker 1 (39:11):
Dodgers playing host to this Saint Louis Cardinals show. Hey
Otani on the Mount you through a season. I three
to fifty three pitches in his last start against the Reds,
but remember came out of the game with cramping in
his right hip. Matthew Libertward, the left hander, will go
for Saint Louis first pitch coming up at one ten.
When the boys in Blue plant home, it's important they
have the right plan to protect their house. You need
one to protect your home too. Create a wildfire action plan,
(39:33):
select a predetermined meeting and point outside your home, and
create a family communication plan. It's very important know your
escape routes and practice them. Put together a go bag
with all your essentials that your family may need for
up to four days, if not longer. Carry a fire
extinguisher in your car. Hot exhaust pipes and mufflers can
easily start fire, so please avoid parking your car on
(39:54):
dry grass. For more information about these tips and others,
visit fire dot c a dot gom. All Right before
first pitch, head back out to booth. Tim never Rick
Monday guys.
Speaker 4 (40:04):
Tim, thanks again, gorgeous afternoon here at Dodgers Stadium for
show Hey Otani to take them out and lead off
in dh so Otani no decisions to forty the earned
run average, makes his eighth start and we are expecting
him to throw four innings today.
Speaker 6 (40:19):
Yeah, four innings, and if you look at the Cardinals lineup,
they have four left handed matters. Reason I mean that
up is just a one to sixty average, but lefties
off of Votani. So we're going to see the bullpen
follow on top of it. And for the Dodgers hitting
against Liberator, one thing about it. Libertor is very aggressive.
He comes right at him, nothing dainty about the way
(40:39):
that he goes about, a very good curveball, and he
wants hitters, obviously to expand the strike zone.
Speaker 4 (40:45):
Liberator has lost his last three starts, giving up a
couple of home runs, and his ERA is well over
six in those last three starts. He's also two to
five on the road this year, no decisions against the
Dodgers and a career ERA of seven seven against the
boys in Blue. So counting it down to the first pitch,
(41:05):
Matthew Libertor, the Cardinals show, Hey, Otani for the Dodgers.
Speaker 1 (41:09):
Tim all right, thank you guys. When the game's over,
I'll be back with all the postgame festivities, including Dodger
talk as well. Get ready, it's all about show Hey
