walking you up the first pitch.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Tim kays Hi, everybody, and welcome into Morongo Casino. Dodgers
on deck. Hope you're well on this Wednesday night. Dodgers
feeling okay after a tough loss last night in the desert,
look at a bounce back to nights, and in doing so,
they picked up a game already today in the division,

(01:02):
as the San Diego Padres have lost today to the
Milwaukee Brewers, so the Dodgers' magic number to clinch the
division is down to two. As the Dodgers going to
action tonight Blake Snell on the mound. First pitch from
Chasefield in Arizona is coming up at six point forty
coming up. Over the next hour here on Maranggo Casino,
Dodgers on deck, you're gonna hear from the Dodger manager

(01:23):
Dave Roberts. We'll preview this pitching matchup. David Vasse joins
us throughout the hour. Of course, he'll go one on
one this hour with Justin Roblutsky. We got your Dodgers'
magical moment. Shortly, Kirsten Watson from Sports in LA will
stop by and in just a few minutes we'll head
out to the Gallpin Motors broadcast booth with Tim Neffett
and Rick Monday. Well, last night show, Hey Otani was

(01:47):
fantastic on the mound, six shutout inning, scattered five hits
along the way with deepest into the game that he
has all season long, eight strikeouts, ninety one pitches. He
gave the Dodgers exactly what they needed. Meanwhile, the Dodgers'
offense got it going early. Taoscar Hernandez started it in
the second.

Speaker 5 (02:08):
Field, playing tay Oscar pretty well straight up in the pitch.
He swings hits a drive to left field and deep
heading back is McCarthy to the track and to the wall.

Speaker 6 (02:18):
He leaps, it's gone.

Speaker 5 (02:20):
It's a home run for Taoscar Hernandez. He's twenty fifth
of the season and the Dodgers break on top one nothing.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
Taoscar Hernandez got it started home run number twenty five
on this season. Tao gave the Dodgers a one to
nothing lead. Then in this sixth ta Oscar a triple
to right center field that scored show Hey, that scored
Freddie Dodgers a three to nothing lead. Again, shoey Otani
went this six shutout innings. He got more runs tacked

(02:51):
on in the seventh thanks to Roordy Ben Rodvett.

Speaker 5 (02:53):
Two to two to rodvent Hey swings hits a drive
to right and date Carol.

Speaker 6 (02:58):
Going back, he looks up, it's gone. Ben root Vet
with a home.

Speaker 5 (03:03):
Run, Big Ben with a blast and it's four to
nothing Dodgers, his first home run of the season.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
Touch them all, Ben Roardvet with the home run to
right center field, Dodgers a four to nothing lead. That
is when the wheels fell off Jack Dryer at Guardo
Enriquez would give up three runs in the bottom half
of the seventh inning. It's okay. The Dodgers still had
the lead. Dodgers still in command up in this game

(03:35):
four to three. They go to the ninth inning, and
that's when things really went sideways for the Dodgers as
the Dodgers Tanner Scott got roughed up. In that ninth inning,
the Dodgers get walked off by Perdomo's RBI single. Yeah,
the Dodgers bullpen lets him down again, gives up three

(03:55):
runs in the seventh, two more in the ninth as
the Arizona Diamondbacks spoil what was a great outing from
show Hey Otani. They spoil the Dodgers' chances of picking
up another game in the standings and a game in
their magic number. Dodgers fault to eighty eight and sixty
nine on this season. Don't look down, but the Dodgers

(04:15):
are a sub five hundred team away from Dodgers Stadium
on this season. But they do pick up a game
earlier today at the Padres losing, they have a chance
to pick up another game with a win tonight. Blake's
now on the mound first pitch of six forty and
with more we head out to the GALPA Mootors broadcast,
but as we say hello to Tim Nevertt and Rick Monday, guys.

Speaker 5 (04:33):
Tim, thank you very much. RUFE closed again on a
one hundred degree day here in Phoenix, Arizona's the Dodgers
take on the Diamondbacks. The Dodgers start action here tonight
two games up on the San Diego Pobres after the
Brewers won three to one this afternoon, and that decreases
the magic number from three to two. So the Dodgers,

(04:54):
if a win tonight, would knock the magic number down
two one with a chance to clinch tomorrow. Tomorrow would
be the earliest the Dodgers could clinch the National League
Western Division eighty eight and sixty nine the record for
the Dodgers, eighty and seventy seven for the Diamondbacks. Diamondbacks
eight out in the division, but just one game out
in the wild card situation in the National League. Ryan Nelson,

(05:16):
right hander at seven and three, takes on Blake Snell.
The lefty is five and four and Moa changing the
bullpen tonight as Kirby Yeates has been placed on the
injured list and Roki Sasaki has been activated. Dave Roberts said,
he's ready to throw him in the deep end of
the pool. He'll use them in any situation.

Speaker 7 (05:35):
Well, and right now the pool has been on the
shallow side. And a very frustrating walkoff loss last night
again the Dodgers. If he's good to September overall, just
a five hundred team, they're ten to ten. That was
the eleventh walkoff loss of the season. And for Dave
Roberts said he did not mince words after last night's
ball game. He goes, look, bad things happen when you

(05:57):
pitch behind in the count and you're afraid to make
a mistake, and mistakes were made in last night's ball
game for the bullpen really ruined. A very good outing
by Shohei Otani went six innings for the first time
in last night's bowl game, no runs, just five hit,
struck out eight, did not walk a single batter.

Speaker 5 (06:16):
Oh Tani back in the lineup is the leadoff man
here tonight. One hundred and forty two runs score and
he's sixth shy of the all time franchise record that
was set back in eighteen ninety if you can believe it.

Speaker 7 (06:28):
Yeah, and one RBI shy of being at the century mark,
but you know, making no mistake about it. We talked
about it last night. Arizona Diamondbacks. They are not going
to take their foot off the accelerator. They don't have
a lot of mileage in front of them, try and
make it to the postseason. So one game, as you
mentioning early behind the Mets, they're tied with the Cincinnati

(06:48):
Reds for that third spot the Nashley Wild Card five
games remaining. The Rens, by the way, would hold a
tiebreaker over both of those two teams. So Arizona a
very big comfort behind victory last night.

Speaker 5 (07:00):
It was their thirty fifth come from behind victory of
the year and their eighth walkoff of the season. But
today is a new day, and that's one of the
things that the player's mentality has to be. You've been
through it a lot your career. How do you shower
off a game like last night, turn around and come
back brand new today.

Speaker 7 (07:18):
Same way we shower off things that happened in our
daily lives. It's no difference. The difference is this is
in front of almost forty eight thousand people last night.
That's the difference. You know, we suffering little things here
and there in our private life. Say, you know, we
can kind of keep private, this is public and do
you find that out? Also, last night, after the postgame
interviews are taking place, Tanner Scott stood tall he was

(07:40):
tagged with a loss, his tenth blown save of the season.
There's nowhere to hide at times like the show book
kind of dig a hole, but the Dodger's back out here,
and you have to whitewash things that happen, especially painful
things like last night.

Speaker 5 (07:54):
One other bullpen note, Clayton Kershaw will be available out
of the bullpen again tonight, but Dave Roberts indicating because
of his schedule as a starter, this will be the
last night he will do that. So he would be
scheduled perhaps to throw normally today. Maybe we'll see him
in a game tonight. And you know, Dave going on
to say he's gonna use him in any situation.

Speaker 7 (08:16):
Yeah, And I think even more so if it comes
down to a situation where you've got some left handed
batters coming up. Arizona, by the way, has four switch
hitters in their lineup to begin with only one lefty
scheduled to start against Blake Snow the left hander. So Arizona,
you know they're trying to win their eighty first game
and to keep their head above water. They've been a
very good club at home and the Dodgers got an

(08:38):
experience of that last night.

Speaker 5 (08:40):
Game number one hundred and fifty eight of the regular
season about to get underway, and the Dodgers magic number
is two to clinch the division.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
Tim all right, thank you guys, as we count you
down to first pitch. Dodger fans get that game day
meal on a Shaky's Pizza parlor bour of your Shaky's
Pizza Chicken. The mojo's at Shaky's dot Com. All right,
coming up here on Wrongo Casino Dodgers on deck, you're
gonna hear from the manager, Dave Roberts. We will check
in with David Basse. Divi goes one on one with

(09:09):
Justin Robleski. We break down this pitching matchup of next
o Kirsten Watson from Sports in at LA and you're
Otani rewind. That's all coming up as we lead you
up to first pitch from Arizona, Dodgers timingbacks. Thanks for
being with us. I'm Tim Kass. The world champion Los
Angeles Dodgers Paulio.

Speaker 3 (09:26):
Nell, this is Wrongo Casino Dodgers Hunt game on your
home for La Dodgers Baseball.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
It's the Dodgers and then Timonbacks from Phoenix, Blake Snell,
Ryn Nelson. The pitching matchup. First pitch from Chase Fields
coming up six forty.

Speaker 5 (09:46):
This is the Otani rewind two and two, two men
out and nobody on. Otani ready to throw. He steps back, kicks, delivers,
and Carbon Carol takes strike three. A curve ball hot
him looking. Strikeout number one for Otani comes on the
curve three to two Moreno swings in he strikes out

(10:09):
two down. That's eight strikeouts for Otani. Swings it's a
ground ball. To Otani turns throw us to second. Edmund
has it the.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
Turn back to first backsoning.

Speaker 5 (10:18):
And ending double play one four to three and the
Diamondbacks come up empty again.

Speaker 2 (10:25):
Show Hey O'tani the batter oh for last night, but
did score a run after a walk? Show Hey the pitcher,
six shutout innings, five hits, he scattered along the way,
got some help from his defense and struck out eight
along the way. Should have got the win last night
if not for the Dodgers' bullpen who blew it again
as the Diamondbacks went in five to four.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
This is Kirston's Corner with Kirston Watson.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
Hey Kirson now joins us. Brought to you by Cars
for Kids. Ready to donate your old car? Call eight
seven seven Cars for Kids right now, friendly agents are
standing by to take your donation. That's Cars with the
K to donate your car today. As the kid say,
it's been a minute, it's been a minute since we've
seen Roki Sasaki. It's been since May since we've seen
Roki Sasaki. But he's back, Yes he is.

Speaker 8 (11:14):
And you know what, it really does put it into
perspective that it has been a long time. He was
placed on the IL with that shoulder impingement, looking to
just get back on track, build his confidence, really attack
the strike zone. The velocity had dropped and things like that.
So for him, one, he's feeling so much better. He's returning,
but he is returning into a different role. So with

(11:34):
this return to the team in activation off the IL,
he's been placed in the bullpen in his last two
outings when he was with the Triple A team, he
actually was a reliever, so he had an ending of
work in each outing, had two days of rest in between.
And so because there's been this uptick back and velocity,
he's up, you know, in that upper nineties, which is

(11:54):
where he's so excellent. And so for him to have
gotten that back on tact, the command was there. Now
they want to see could this be a reliable option
or even just a potential option for the group to
use come October. Now, the next big test for him
is going to be facing big league hitters coming out
of the bullpen in a leverage situation. Obviously, these games

(12:16):
are a five left with the regular season, and as
much as I think the Dodgers might be used to
just kind of coasting into the postseason, that's not the
case this year. Obviously, they're still battling to win the division.
The magic number is now too, so essentially because every
game is a must win right now, it is all
a high leverage situation. So for Rokie, they do want

(12:36):
to get him out there, hopefully at least a couple
times that minimum hopefully two times, but with five games
left and he needs some rest in between that obviously there,
it's gonna make it a little bit tricky, but he
is back. We look forward to seeing what he's going
to look like out of the bullpen. But for him,
this could be a freeing experience, just not the pressure
of having to face guys multiple times. Things like that.

(12:57):
You get in, you do your job and you can
be efficient. So it'll be an interesting one to see
him coming out of the bullpen.

Speaker 2 (13:02):
Though, last night we saw Clayton Kershaw sitting in the bullpen.
Is there a chance we see him pitch some night
out of the bullpen?

Speaker 8 (13:09):
There is absolutely a chance. Yes, he was back there yesterday.
So Clayton's next start is going to be on Sunday
against the Mariners. And for him, he obviously understands what
the situation is, what his role will likely look like
come October, and while nothing isn't made official, he's going
to be a reliever or a starter. There is a possibility,
due to just the depth of this rotation and kind

(13:31):
of what the needs are from October, that he could
be in the bullpen. So he had a conversation with
Dave Roberts and said that, you know, instead of doing
his side work, he could do that in the bullpen
essentially and be an option that comes out so because
he has to start on Sunday, though Dave Roberts did
say realistically, the last chance they would be able to

(13:51):
kind of pull that string, if they do decide to
go with him to come out of the bullpen, it
would probably be today. This situation would be just one
ending of war because again it's essentially like a side
session for him, but a very meaningful side session, I
should say. But he does still have the start on Sunday.
We'll see how things play out, but he understands and

(14:12):
even if he doesn't come out of the bullpen today,
Dave did say it still could be a potential option
that they use come October. They feel comfortable whether it
would be multi inning relief, one inning of work, high leverage,
you name it. With Clayton Kershaw, he's done something similar,
he's done it in the past and something similar, so
they feel good about that just kind of whatever the
teams needs, Clayton is willing to step in and support well.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
The Dodgers' bullpen got some new arms down there that
they can use instead of the arms that they been
using that haven't been very effective. Kirston, we appreciate it.
We'll check you with you after the game. Still they
come here on Morongo Causino Dodgers on Deck will dive
deeper into this pitching matchup. David Vasay will join us
and go one on one with Justin Robleski, who's been
one of the arms that's been good in the bullpen.

(14:54):
But up next, we get you an injury report and
we'll hear from the manager of himself, Dave Roberts if
the Dodgers in giant first pitch, I'm Tim Kates's world
champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio.

Speaker 3 (15:03):
N this is Marongo Casino Dodgers on.

Speaker 4 (15:08):
Deech on your home for the blue all season long.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
It's a Dodgers and the Diamondbacks. Says Marongo Casino Dodgers
on Deck continues as well, lead you up to first
pitch on this Wednesday night, Marongo Casino Resort and Spa,
a grand slam of for good times. Blake Snell on
the mound. First pitch coming up, S six forty.

Speaker 3 (15:29):
It's the LA Dodgers Injury.

Speaker 2 (15:32):
Report presented by UCLA Healthy, official medical partner of the
Los Angeles Dodgers. The IL taketh and the IL Giveth
rookie Sasaki comes off the injurre list for the first
time since May. Kirby Yates goes on the injured list
with the hamstring injury. Will Smith on the IL with
the hairline fraction in his right hand. Brock Stewart with
the team throwing but still technically on the IL with

(15:54):
the right shoulder inflammation. Let's head back out to Chase
Field in Arizona, and here from the Dodgers skipper, any.

Speaker 3 (16:00):
Answers questions for Dave? Dave, can you just describe Dave?

Speaker 2 (16:05):
Can you talk about the pressure in.

Speaker 3 (16:07):
The dugouts with Dave Roberts.

Speaker 9 (16:10):
Rokie will be active tonight, He'll be in the pen,
and the corresponding move is going to be Kirby Yates.
Kirby's been dealing with this hamstring for quite some time
and he's doing everything he can to post but it's
just clearly, you know, taking a toll on him, and

(16:33):
so we're gonna retroactive him and kind of, you know,
try to get him back, you know, for something down
the road.

Speaker 6 (16:42):
I mean, I know you mentionedly down the road, but
with October on the corner.

Speaker 8 (16:46):
Yes, he's kind of been having up and downs but
how do you, I guess replace its kind of a
veteran that he is.

Speaker 9 (16:52):
In the bull It's gonna be tough, and I and
I know the performance isn't what you know, any of
us would have expected. But injury thing is certainly a
real piece of this. But having Kirby around, mentoring guys,
encouraging guys, certainly this time in the pen could be

(17:13):
a big benefit. And then again if we can kind
of get him back to right, you know, we've activated
guys later in the postseason, so you.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
Just never know. All right, There's a manager, Dave Roberts,
talking about the bullpen situation and the changing on the
IL with Kirby Yates going to the IL and Rookie
Sasaki coming off the IL. More on that with David Vaz, say,
what is Rokie's rule gonna be? So depending on what
he does in the next couple of days, we'll find
out from dv Next, our Dodger insider as Morocco Casino

(17:45):
Dodgers on Deck continues, right here, you're your world champion,
Los Angeles Dodgers on your network.

Speaker 6 (17:52):
As we were saying.

Speaker 3 (17:54):
Yes, is Marongo Casino Dodgers on Jack on the official
home of La Dodgers Baseball.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
It's a Dodgers in Diamondbacks, game two of his three
game set. Blake Snell on the mound, first pitch from Phoenix,
coming up at six.

Speaker 3 (18:11):
Forty, joining Tim kats On Dodgers on deck.

Speaker 10 (18:16):
I accept everybody for who they are.

Speaker 3 (18:18):
This is Dodger insider David Bass.

Speaker 2 (18:21):
Orry DV Rokie Susaki activated. You've been talking about this
for a while now, and it happened today. Okay, where
does he fit into this puzzle of the bullpen?

Speaker 10 (18:31):
Well, Dave Roberts said he wouldn't hesitate to use Roki Sazaki,
and look, Dave Roberts is going to find out, like
we all will, whether or not Roki can handle this
role before they get to October.

Speaker 6 (18:44):
This won't be the only game that they use Sasaki.

Speaker 10 (18:47):
They may use him once more in Seattle, maybe twice
more between now and the end of the year. There's
only five games to go, including tonight, But the Dodgers
are hoping that a guy that really couldn't find it
this year mechanically can find it now and talking to
Andrew Freeman, it seems like the Dodgers are optimistic that

(19:10):
Roki has worked out his pitching part of it. But
since there's not a lot of time to build him
up as a starter and the Dodgers have an obvious
need in the bullpen, they want to see whether or
not he can be of service to them coming out
of the bullpen, and look, considering the options Dave Roberts
has had in the last month or so, if it's

(19:32):
a safe situation tonight, why not throw Roki Sasaki out
there and have somebody warming up behind him. Or if
there's a high leverage situation in the eighth inning, why not.
I mean, you got to find out, and you don't
want to find out in a playoff game.

Speaker 6 (19:46):
You want to find out now.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
Yeah, no doubt about it. David is brought to you
by Ford. It's time does he Ford in a new light?
Clayton Kershaw? Where does he fit into the postseason pitching plan?

Speaker 10 (19:57):
DV Well, he's really embracing the relief. He was out
there earlier today stretching with the relievers, warming up with
the relievers. Today is his last day that he is
going to be available out of the bullpen before his
final career regular season start, which will be Sunday in Seattle.
But in October, Tim he is going to be out

(20:19):
of the bullpen. He is going to be of use
for the Dodgers to come out of the bullpen to
help you get the Dodgers to twenty seven. Out some way,
he is going to be part of it because him
and Emmit Shean right now are vital options coming out
of the bullpen.

Speaker 6 (20:37):
In October.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
The Dodgers did make a move with the trade deadline
to help the bullpen. That was brock Stewart. Then he
got hurt. What's going on with brock Stewart, David, He.

Speaker 10 (20:46):
Did not seem to be in good spirits before he
went out to throw in the bullpen, and it wasn't
a full blown bullpen session. It was kind of a
touch and field type of situation. Body language did not
look great either when he came back out, and Dave
Roberts said, they're in a wait and see mode.

Speaker 3 (21:05):
They're not.

Speaker 10 (21:06):
There's a very good chance he is not activated before
the end of the regular season and possibly not the
rest of this year, which brings me to Bank Casparius,
who is really good against right handers. The Dodgers may
need to call upon Casparius to be part of their
bullpen going into the postseason.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
He's somebody who did it last year. I'd love to
have him back. David, great stuff. We will check back
anything in just a couple of minutes. Still to come
here on Wrongo because you know Dodgers on deck. Will
you hear from Justin Robleski, one of those young arms
down the bullpen, will break down this pitching matchup with
Blake's now on the mountain. Up next your Dodgers Magical Moment.

Padres losing today to the Brewers down at Petco Park,
the Dodgers earliest they can clench would be tomorrow. If
you're gonna win tonight, first pitch tonight, coming up at

Speaker 6 (22:14):
Without a hot dog. Who wins the hot gun.

Speaker 3 (22:17):
It's time for the Hawfe Magical Moment. It's Magical presented
by Hawby Hot Dogs.

Speaker 2 (22:24):
Well we go back to September twenty fourth, twenty fourteen,
eleven years ago. Today, Dodgers taking on the San Francisco Giants.
Dodgers the year before won the NL West, looking to
do it for a second straight year.

Speaker 11 (22:38):
Wilson set the one to one to the left handed
hitn't blanco ground ball right side.

Speaker 12 (22:43):
Barney timing stop throws him out, and the Dodgers have won.

Speaker 6 (22:47):
The National League Western Division title.

Speaker 12 (22:50):
It began six months, two days and ten thousand miles
ago when Clayton Firshall won his first game.

Speaker 6 (22:58):
Tonight, the Dodgers win the ninety first.

Speaker 12 (23:01):
Clayton Kershaw wins his twenty first, and the Dodgers have
won their second consecutive National League Western Division title.

Speaker 6 (23:09):
They route the Giants sedite nine to one.

Speaker 12 (23:12):
Fireworks exploding up beyond the center field wall. The Dodgers
all over themselves in the middle of the infield.

Speaker 6 (23:20):
Let the bubble machine begin.

Speaker 2 (23:22):
Yeah, remember the bubblesh machine back in twenty fourteen. Dodgers
eleven years ago. Today clintch their second straight NL West title,
defeating the Giants nine to one. Clayton Kersh on that
night when eight innings, I'll strike it out of eleven.
This Hofey Magical moment brought to by Hoffey hot Dogs,
Haffey Sokow's local treasure for nearly one hundred years, Hofey
hot Dogs, Local and so great. Well, we continue here

(23:44):
on Dodgers on Deck. We will check back you Rick Monday.

have back our good friend Charlie Steinner.

Speaker 11 (24:27):
All right, Tim. By doing absolutely nothing this afternoon, the
Dodgers moved one step closer to winning the nationally Western
Division title.

Speaker 3 (24:37):
Their magic numbers two.

Speaker 11 (24:39):
This after the Brewers beat the Padres in San Diego
this afternoon.

Speaker 6 (24:44):
Three to one.

Speaker 11 (24:44):
Of course, the Dodgers go with the Diamondbacks tonight, and
it's going to be Blake Snell going for the Dodgers
against Ryan Nelson. We'll talk about all of that in
a bit, but first here we are magic numbers. Two
question is as we look to the postseason, who's going
to start, who's going to relieve? And how does Dave

(25:06):
Roberts juggle all of that month?

Speaker 7 (25:08):
Yeah, and how happens how it happens out of the
bullpen as well. I mean, you look at it the Dodgers,
first of all, Charlie, in the month of September, they're
ten and ten. Starting pitching has been terrific two point
three to nine ER, second best in baseball this month.
But the bullpen different story, three and eight ERA fifth
lowest in baseball at almost five point seven. So that

(25:31):
is a concern. Last night, the eleventh walk off loss
of this Dodger ball club, And you know, the setting
of the stage last night by Otani was I thought,
terrific six innings, made only ninety one pitches, and he
just kind of calmed down. I think the overall effect
of what the other ball club can do did not
walk a batter at all. So that's a big, big

(25:53):
boost when Dave Roberts and the Dodgers are now thinking
about that starting rotation. Oh, you and I talked about
this earlier the afternoon about the starters. They're doing a
wonderful job, but how much longer can they keep trying
to extend the number of innings to reduce the number
of innings on the back end?

Speaker 11 (26:09):
And now is show Hey Otani part of the postseason
starting rotation.

Speaker 7 (26:15):
Yeah, you figure he's going to be with Otani, Yamamoto,
Snell who is going to pitch tonight and then Glass.
Now remember two in the wings is Clayton Kershaw. Not
to move him back, he's going to start on Sunday,
but he came to Dave Roberts yesterday and said, I look,
if you need me out of the bullpen either last
night or tonight, he's available. We may see him tonight

(26:36):
in the ballgame. Man, for Kershaw, it would be a
normal pitching day at least in the bullpen for him,
So that's not really added tax. It would be an
inning could be possibly later on in this ballgame tonight.
But the starting rotation looks pretty good, but from the
bullpen standpoint, this is rather iffy and which direction to go?
Dave Roberts last night after the ballgame says, look, the

(26:58):
bad things they happen when you pitch behind in the
count and you're afraid of making a mistake. Is that
the issue we're seeing or not? Things have to turn
around and the back end, especially the bullbend.

Speaker 11 (27:09):
Well Snell, of course, has proven his postseason metal and
he's pitched awfully well for the Dodgers since coming back,
so you feel good about him. And Yamamoto has probably
been the ace of the staff such that it is,
and get not a lot of wins and losses, but
he's there. And Otani now all of a sudden, is

(27:30):
presumably part of the rotation. Do they go with three
or do they go with four starters come postseason?

Speaker 7 (27:37):
Yeah, that's a good question. And they know that they're
going to be playing on Tuesday. They don't know who
they're going to be playing, They don't know exactly which
time of day or evening that they will be playing,
but there is going to be a game. In the interim.
The Dodgers have to take care of their own business.
As you mentioned right from the get go. Their magic
number is two to clinch the Western Division. I think
that's right up to the top of the list, no

(27:57):
question about it. Get that accomplish and then move on.
At least have a semblance of trying to establish your
starting rotation before Tuesday's game even takes place.

Speaker 11 (28:08):
Oh and they can have a dip in the swimming pool.

Speaker 7 (28:11):
You know the last time that that happened, the possibility
Remember there was a mounted police presence on the warning
track in front of the pool. I don't think the
pool is going to be an issue. I don't think
it's they'd be better off just getting on the buses
going back to the hotel and use their pool.

Speaker 11 (28:26):
And so the question also now looking ahead to the bullpen,
who's there? Who are they going to Will they bring
a starter out of the rotation into the bullpen. Obviously
the veteran bullpen guys are struggling. There's a little question
the other guys who might be up for a job

(28:46):
in the bullpen. They're young guys. Are they too young
or too old? Are they starters or are they relievers?
So there's a lot of juggling to be done.

Speaker 7 (28:56):
Yeah, and there's a lot of knocking on the door,
and that door is you know, use me, use me.
But there's open call right now. Who is going to
really now as we look at the rest, I mean,
there's only five games left on the schedule, Charlie, and
between now and on Sunday, and that game beatle to
the last game of this regular season in Seattle. You've

(29:16):
got to have a couple of guys come forward and say, hey,
look by my recent performances, I'm the guys you need
to go to at the back end of a game
at this particular point, that's still an open audition.

Speaker 11 (29:27):
So Blake's noew goes for the Dodgers tonight and with
a win, their magic number would be one, the loneliest number.

Speaker 2 (29:34):
Tim all right, thank you, Charlie. Great to hear your voice.
Thank you, Mo. That's a Dodger plan. Dodger fan, you
need a game plan too. How about starting your future
to California Community college financial aids available to help you
with tuition, books, sometimes even the rent. It's time to
take that next big step. What are you waiting for?
Glasses can fill quickly, so en roll today and I
can go to college dot com. Still to come here

(29:55):
on Dodgers on deck. We'll preview this bitching matchup. But
up next we go high and Tye with Justin that's
coming up as well. Lead you up to first pitch
from Arizona. Dodgers and Diamondbacks. Magic number is two. First
pitch is six forty. I'm Tim Kas's the world champion
Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.

Speaker 3 (30:13):
As we were saying, this is Marongo Casino. Dodgers on
jack on the official home of LA Dodgers Baseball.

Speaker 2 (30:23):
Lead you up to Dodgers and Diamondbacks on this Wednesday night.
Blake Snell on the Mount Dodgers Magic number is two,
So a wed tonight as soon as they can clench that,
the NL West is tomorrow. Dodgers Baseball brought to you
by Shaky's Pizza Parlor, the official pizza partner the Dodgers
audio broadcast went into game night. It's group night at
Shaky's dot Com.

Speaker 3 (30:42):
And now what will likely be vast fielding insults from
a Dodger player.

Speaker 2 (30:46):
It's an engagement of endearment.

Speaker 3 (30:48):
This is high and tight.

Speaker 10 (30:51):
The Dodgers and Diamondbacks getting set for first pitch, and
we're drawn right now by young Justin Robleski, another one
of the great lefties and the Dodger bullpen justin the
Thanks a lot for the time.

Speaker 11 (31:01):
Appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (31:01):
Yeah, no worries, No worries.

Speaker 10 (31:03):
You're two lockers away from Jack Dryer. Why don't you
let us in on what type of teammate he really is?
We know he loves chicking casadillas, but outside of that,
what do we know about this guy?

Speaker 13 (31:14):
I know a lot about this guy. I'm not gonna
give away his secrets coming up with him. But now, Jackson,
great dude, and it's been awesome to see him come
up and you know, do his thing this year, and yeah,
just super happy for him and great guy.

Speaker 10 (31:26):
I remember growing up hearing lefty pictures talk, and people
that would interview lefty pictures would say, these guys are witches.
They do everything different. Is that true? Our lefties that
much different than us mere mortals that write with our
right hand throw with our right hand. How different are lefties?

Speaker 13 (31:44):
They're different. We're a special group of people. I do
write with my right hand eat with my right hand,
so I'm a little bit, I guess more normal than some,
okay in that regard, but no, it's it's funny. Yeah,
there's definitely, uh, there's definitely some truth to that statement.

Speaker 10 (31:58):
So how did it come to that you throw a
baseball with your left hand if you do everything else
with your right hand.

Speaker 13 (32:04):
I don't do everything else with my right hand. I
throw left handed, I kick with my right foot. I
eat right handed and right right handed, and then play
tennis right handed, swing left handed. And the funny thing is,
my grandfather's the exact same way. So I'm assuming that
has something to do with it. But yeah, it's pretty

(32:24):
pretty rare combo of things that that's just how I've
always done it.

Speaker 10 (32:28):
Who knew Justin Robleski was such a complicated guy. You
seem like a very simple man that lives life simply,
but you're very complicated. That DNA structure is very complicated.

Speaker 1 (32:37):
Yeah, it's different. It's different.

Speaker 10 (32:39):
Hey, at this point in time in the season, it's
been a long year. You've been asked to do a
few different things. How does Justin Robleski feel at the
end of this season?

Speaker 1 (32:48):
Feel good?

Speaker 13 (32:50):
I feel, you know, I've had to adapt and kind
of change things a lot throughout the year, But in
making those changes, I think it felt more like tweaks
and things that, you know, try to keep everything as
similar as I could when I was starting and everything else.
And I think, you know, training staff and pitching coaches
and you know, string coaches. I think every really has

(33:11):
done a good job and kind of helping me and
guiding me to to figure out how a stay in shape,
keep my body ready to go. And because I'm in
kind of a I've been in kind of a different
spot where I got to be ready to go multiples
and things like that, and now it's like kind of
stepping into you know, more normal relief stuff. So it's
it's definitely been fun learning on the fly, but everyone's

(33:32):
helped me out a ton.

Speaker 10 (33:33):
And it feels like you're taking that next step as
a relief pitcher because that's what's needed, not just waiting
five days until you come out of the bullpen, but
two out of three days. What's that been like?

Speaker 1 (33:44):
It's been good.

Speaker 13 (33:45):
I think, you know, after I kind of got into
this role where it was you know, max like two
or three, it's been you know, pitch every couple of
days and whatever. And I think I knew I was
kind of ready because I was bouncing back pretty good
after each outing and Uh yeah, just I feel good
right now, and you know, pray that that God helps

(34:06):
me continue to feel good throughout the rest of this year.

Speaker 10 (34:08):
It's got to be exciting, Justin Robleski that you're part
of this team and you're going to be part of
it in the postseason. How excited are you for that opportunity.

Speaker 1 (34:17):
Yeah, I'm excited. It's it's gonna be fun.

Speaker 13 (34:19):
I'm excited to kind of get that opportunity to uh
to you know, try to try to get another ring.
So it's uh, you know, obviously a great team to
be a part of, and we've got so much talent,
and you know, I think the way things have been
going recently haven't been great, but I think it's going
to continue to help us, you know, in the long run,
and I think we're gonna turn things around and uh,

(34:39):
you know, hopefully make a push of this thing.

Speaker 10 (34:41):
I've asked a few of the veteran guys that played
with Clayton Kershaw for a long time just what their
experience was with him and just saying what took place
last weekend at Dodger Stadium. But for you, a young
guy that obviously watched him pitch, when you were younger.
What has it been like for you to be teammates
with him and what you witnessed this past weekend at

(35:01):
Dodger Stadium.

Speaker 13 (35:02):
Yeah, it's it's incredible. Obviously his career is you know,
something that obviously have followed, and just watching him, you know, pitch,
and it was a little tough for being on the
East coast guy you don't get to see all the
Dodger games, but just kind of keeping up with with everything.
And you know, when I was rehabbing, it was like,
all right, had his curse do this? How has he
done this the past, you know, however many years? And

(35:24):
it was super cool to kind of be able to
be a part of that, and you know, pitching his
last game at Dodger Stadium, which is cool. And yeah,
I just you know, I got got to save in
a game that he pitched in this year where it
was just him and myself.

Speaker 1 (35:36):
So it's it's pretty cool.

Speaker 13 (35:38):
I you know, if you would have said that to me,
you know, five ten years ago, like you're going to
be pitching on the same team as Clayton Kershaw and and.

Speaker 1 (35:44):
Whatever, I'd probably be like, what are you? Are you serious?

Speaker 13 (35:47):
And so it's it's been really cool, and Curse is
a great dude. Just kind of getting to know him
and see how he works and see how you know,
he thinks of the game and things like that have
been super helpful for me and just kind of, you know,
cool to watch.

Speaker 10 (36:01):
Is the preparation and the work ethic. The one thing
you'll remember five years from now. You're not the same picture,
but at least you could prepare and work the way
he did.

Speaker 1 (36:10):
Yeah, one hundred percent.

Speaker 13 (36:12):
You know, he definitely is his very his plans very structured,
and he knows kind of what he needs to do
to get his body ready to go each day, day in,
day out for that next start. And yeah, it's it's
definitely something I'm gonna remember and take away from them.

Speaker 1 (36:28):
That's so great.

Speaker 10 (36:29):
Thanks a lot for the time and sharing that with us,
And look forward to seeing you in October, Justin Robleski,
And if we see you on the soccer field, we
know you're kicking with your right foot.

Speaker 1 (36:38):
Now.

Speaker 13 (36:38):
I don't know if you'll see me on any soccer fields,
but yeah, thanks day.

Speaker 10 (36:41):
Maybe David Busters. Justin Robleski will receive a gift card
to Travis Matthew. That's right, Brock Stewart, I still have
those apparel design for confidence and comfort no matter where
the day takes you.

Speaker 6 (36:51):
Travis S.

Speaker 10 (36:52):
Matthew, as you covered, visit travismtthew dot com and received
twenty percent off your first order. When you sign up
for email, we'll send him back to you in the
studio him all right.

Speaker 2 (37:00):
Thanks a lot of DV glad just look got those
Travis Matthew gift cards coming up here on Marongo Casino
Dodgers on deck. We will dive deeper into this pitching
match if he has. It's a good one. Blake's noell
on the mound. They needed to go far in this game.
When the Dodgers bullpen has been playing. Dodgers win tonight.
That magic number down to one currently sitting at two.

(37:21):
Will dive deeper into this pitching matchup next, don't go anywhere.
I'm Tim Kats's World champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.

Speaker 3 (37:30):
This is Marongo Casino Dodgers Hunting game on your home

Speaker 2 (37:39):
The Dodgers and the Diamondbacks from Arizona. First pitch coming.

Speaker 3 (37:43):
Up at six forty and now before the Dodgers hit
the dining. We look at the pitching.

Speaker 2 (37:50):
Matchup presented by your Southern California Toyota Dealers. Work hard
and play hard in a New Tacoma with an I
Force Turbo Charts engine. It's a truck built for the
Bold Senior Toyota Dealer Today, they make it easy. Ryan
Nelson on the mound for Arizona seven and three, three
thirty four ERA, former standout at the University of Oregon.
Twenty seven year old right hander making his twenty third

(38:11):
start this year, his thirty third overall outing. Last time
out five innings, two runs, five hits, and a no
decision against the Phillies. He doesn't have a win or
a loss in a start this month is September yeah
his fourth career start, third at Chase Field against the Dodgers,
one to zero with a two twelve ERA. Mass made
his last start against the Dodgers May twentieth at Dodgers Stadium.

(38:35):
Diamondbacks lost the game in ten innings. He got a
no decision when five Indians, giving up one in run
and striking out two. Blake Snell on the mount for
the Dodgers five and four to two forty four ERA
thirty two year old left hander making his eleven start
last time out, seven shutout innings, two hits, twelve strikeouts
in a win over the Phillies. In his last two starts,
Blake Snell a combined thirteen combined shutout innings and a

(38:59):
combined twenty three strikeouts. It's been really good the right
time the opposition during that stretch, hitting just two twenty
nine here in the months of September in his career
against the Diamondbacks five and three at the two to
twenty sixty yarra with eighty three strikeouts and eleven starts.
He last faced them last August was a member of
the Giants, going five in a third innings. Blake Snell

(39:22):
Ryan Nelson Dodgers, Timonbacks. The magic number is two as
soon as they can clutches tomorrow, but a win tonight
gets that number down even more. As we're fifteen minutes
away from first pitch keys of the game. Our next
I'm Tim Kas's World Champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.

Speaker 3 (39:40):
This is Marongo Casino Dodgers on.

Speaker 4 (39:42):
Tap on your home for the Blue All Season Low.

Speaker 2 (39:49):
It's the Dodgers and the Arizona Diamondbacks, game two of
the three games set, and the Padres already lost today,
So the Dodgers picked up a game in their magic number.
Now it's down to two. They can get that down
to one with a win tonight. Blake Snell, Ryan Nelson
the pitching matchup. First pitch coming up in a little
over ten minutes. Before that, though, we head back out
to the booth one final time. Tim never at Rick

(40:10):
Monday guests.

Speaker 5 (40:11):
Tim, thanks very much, We count you down to the
first pitch here at Chase Field in Phoenix. Blake Snell
against Ryan Nelson Nelson seven and three. He's pitched pretty
well against the Dodgers in his career. He has thrown
twenty nine innings in his career against the Dodgers. He's
got a two and old record as era is just
a little bit above one and a half.

Speaker 7 (40:31):
Yeah, I've been If you look at to the last
five starts, has earned ren average barely above two. And
that's over twenty nine innings that he has worked. So
the record shows one or oho, but he has pitched
better than that. Speaking of pitching better than what the
record is for Blake Snell five and four is eleven
start of the season, and for Snell, you start to
look at everything else that has happened an eer two

(40:52):
point four to four. That's the second best in the
nation league with at least ten starts in a season,
and he is five and three career against Arizona. He
faced them already once this year, losing pitcher went five
and a third. Wasn't his fault is that the back
end of the bullpen could not close things down in
that one.

Speaker 5 (41:10):
Snell thirteen straight scoreless innings coming into this one tonight,
looking to get the Dodgers back in the win column
and shrink that magic number by one.

Speaker 2 (41:19):
Tim all right, thank you guys. The Philadelphia Phillies have
beat the Miami Marlins eleven to one, so that means
the Philiates have secured one of the top two spots
in the nationally postseason, meaning the Dodgers for sure, for
sure who will be playing in the wildcard rounds? Who
would they face? We'll find out in the next couple

(41:40):
of days. Dodgers need to take care of business tonight.
Did that magic demmer down to one Clinton the division
so they can host that wildcard series beginning Tuesday next week.
But First things First, Dodgers Diamondbacks Ryan Nelson Blake style
the pitching matchup. This has been wrong with Casino Dodgers
on deck on the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio
