Speaker 6 (00:42):
Hi, everybody, and welcome into Morongo Casino.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
Dodgers on Deck.
Speaker 6 (00:48):
Here a world champion Los Angeles Dodgers eighty nine and
sixty nine on this season, first place atop the NL West,
and today could be the day the magic number to
clinch the division down to just one. A Dodger victory
today in the desert and they will celebrate yet another
(01:09):
National League West Divisional championship.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
They could do it with a victory, and they'll.
Speaker 6 (01:14):
Do it with Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the man first pitch
coming up at twelve forty Before that, though, we got
a lot to get to here on Marongo Casino Dodgers
on Deck, you're gonna hear from the manager himself, Dave Roberts,
what's he thinking after last night's bullpen performers, but of victory.
We'll hear from Dave Roberts. Coming up in about twenty minutes.
We'll dive deeper into this pitching matchup as the Diamondbacks
(01:35):
not going with their usual starter. They're gonna go with
a bullpen game today. David Vasse joins us throughout the hour.
We got your Dodgers magical moment. Shortly we'll head down
live to the field in Arizona and visit with Sports
and at Las. Kirston Watson in in just a few
minutes out to the gallupin Motors Broadcast Booth to check
in with Tim Neffertt and Rick Monday. Well last night,
(01:56):
Dodger fans, I hope you were buckled in as it
was another rough night for the Dodgers' bullpen. Blake Snell
got the start. Snell Zilla one run, five hits, five punchies.
He went six innings last night, gave the Dodgers absolutely everything.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
They needed on the mound. Meanwhile, the Dodgers offense went
to work.
Speaker 6 (02:14):
In the top of the first mookie bets of sackfly,
Dodgers up one to nothing, but the Diamondbacks answer back.
They slithered in a run on a moreno sackfly that
made it a one to one game until the top
of the fourth runner on for Andy Pies.
Speaker 4 (02:28):
The Blue Jays losing at home to the Red Sox
seven to one in Boston. Hanging on to that spot
in the wild card, Piz hits a drive two th
field and con Andy Piz home run number twenty six,
a two run shot, and the Dodgers leaded three to one. Oh,
(02:51):
that was a no doubter.
Speaker 6 (02:53):
Andy Pie has two run home run to the left
center field as the Dodgers took a three to one lead.
Dodgers then added to that lead with an RBI double
from Tasker Hernandez in the top half of the eighth inning.
Dodgers up four to one. The Dodgers were cruising. They
were on their way to a victory until the wheels
fell off the bullpen yet again. In the bottom half
(03:16):
of the eighth inning. Back came the Snakes. They scored
three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to
tie the game at four.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
Are you kidding me?
Speaker 6 (03:27):
In the ninth, the Dodgers managed to hang on and
send it to extra innings. Neither team, though they had chances,
could score in the tenth. In the top of the eleventh,
the Dodgers were two outs, Freddie Freeman on base for
Tommy Tanks.
Speaker 4 (03:40):
One ball, two strike, pitch to Tommy Edmund. Here it
is these wings and lines that into center base. Heck
Freeman scores and the Dodgers take a five to four lead.
Tommy Edmund two outs, two strikes, comes up clutch and
gets Freeman home.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Jeff Redman is third hit.
Speaker 6 (04:00):
What a night for Tommy Edmond. Hopefully he's back three
for five, including that huge RBI single with two outs
in the top of the eleventh to give the Dodgers
a five to for lead.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
The bottom of the inning prolonged.
Speaker 6 (04:12):
To Justin Robleski, who had a pair of strikeouts, made
easy work of Arizona, and the bottom of the eleventh
Dodgers win it in eleven, five to four, a game
in which they blew again. The Dodgers' bullpen has blown
twenty seven games this year. Last night, though the Dodgers
able to come back and win it their eighty ninth
victory of the season. The Dodgers magic number now to
(04:33):
clench the NL West is down to one, and they
can do that today with a victory, clinching their twelfth
NL West title in the last thirteen seasons. With the
victory in Arizona, will they take a dip in the pool?
Speaker 1 (04:45):
We'll find out.
Speaker 6 (04:46):
First things first, let's head out to the Gallpin Motors
broadcast booth as we welcome in Tim Nevertt and Rick Monday.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
Guys, Tim, thank you very much.
Speaker 4 (04:54):
Roof's got to be closed on one hundred degree afternoon
here in Phoenix, Arizona for the third and final game
between the Dodgers and the Arizona Diamondbacks. Magic number is
down to one, which means if the Dodgers win today,
they will clinch their fourth straight National League Western Division titled,
their twelfth in the last thirteen years. That's the goal
(05:14):
today is to have the celebration here in Arizona, get
on the plane and get up to Seattle for three
with the Mariners to wrap up the regular season. Meantime,
the Dodgers start two and a half in front of
the Padres, who are idle today eighty nine and sixty nine,
twenty games above five hundred four of the Dodgers and
the Diamondbacks eighty and seventy eight. Diamondbacks really in a
(05:36):
must win situation, they have decided to change things up. Originally,
Zach Gallen was going to pitch, but last night after
the game, the Dodgers were notified that it will be
a bullpen game today for Arizona, started by left hander
Jalen Beaks and the bill Chris Matt expected to come
in right after that, and for the Dodgers it'll be
Oshinoba Yamamoto making his thirtieth start of the season. Last night,
(06:01):
it was a ride on a roller coaster a white knuckler,
but the Dodgers ended up prevailing an eleven innings five
to four moh The bullpen let him down in the
eighth inning, but certainly Blake Snell didn't. He had a
pretty good start one ear and run over six innings
and five hits, and one of the eye openers, Roki Sasaki,
coming out of the bullpen with one hundred mile an
hour fastballs for striking.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
Yeah, the other part too. We saw Clayton Kershaw also
pitch the ninth inning. He went to one, two three
in that as well. Unfortunately for the Dodgers, they're thirteenth
blown saved since the All Star break, but they were
able to write the ship hold onto it five to
four the winning margin, and we're seeing some guys now
start to swing the bats, including Tiascar. Hernandez had an
RBI double crucial spot in the eighth inning. Also to
(06:44):
run home run by Andy Pajis in last night's Bowl game.
So this Dodger ball club kind of tuning things up offensively,
doing a very good job. The other thing that went
I think unnoticed in last night's game after all the
dust had settled, you go eleven innings. Made three fantastic
defensive plays in the outfield too by baj Has. Another
(07:04):
diving catch by Tommy Edmond was in center field, went
way over into right center. So those are little things
that you say, hey, wait a minute. One of the
reasons they were able to knock on the door and
take it into the eleventh in and then eventually win
because the defense stood tall at a lot of different times.
Speaker 4 (07:20):
Well, they got it done when they had to get
it done, and they look to get it done today.
With the win today, they would win this series and
also win the season series because they are even with
the Diamondbacks six and six on the regular season. One
thing too, about the Dodgers on the road this year,
they're sub five hundred. They're thirty seven and forty. They
haven't had a losing road record since twenty sixteen when
(07:42):
they went thirty eight and forty three. So still an
opportunity to have not only a winning road record that
have to win out, but they could at least go
five hundred on the road this year away from Dodger Stadium,
Game number one fifty nine coming up, and for the
Dodgers again, they can punch this one behind the strong
pitching of Yoshinobu Yama Moto. Clayton Kershaw will not be
(08:06):
in the bullpen today. He is now getting ready for
his start. Part of the reason he was in the
bullpen the last two days was because they were his
what they would call throw days, so he would be
available to throw anyway. And either you're going to throw
in the bullpen or you get a chance to throw
in a game. That happens from time to time. In baseball,
but Kershaw not in the bullpen for the rest of
the regular season. We do expect to see him there
(08:28):
in the postseason. So the Dodgers, if they win today Tuesday,
they would begin the wild Card Series at Dodgers Stadium
at a two B determined time. But again, lots to
accomplish here this afternoon, A long way to go as
the Dodgers look to wrap up the National League Western Division.
Dodgers sending Yoshinobu Yamamoto to the mound. Jalen Beeks will
(08:50):
start as an opener for the Diamondbacks.
Speaker 6 (08:52):
Tim all right, thank you guys, as we got you
down to first pitch. Dodger fans, it's lunchtime. Get your
game day meal on a Shakey's Pizza part sounds good,
Colin and I might order some pizza here in the studio.
What are your Shaky's Pizza and chicken and Mojo's right
now at Shaky's dot Com. Coming up here on Wrongo Casino.
Dodgers on deck. You're gonna hear from the manager himself,
Dave Roberts. You're gonna hear from our Dodger insigner David
(09:14):
Vez Say, who's got the very latest coming up next.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
So you're o Tani, re.
Speaker 6 (09:18):
Ryan and we go live to the field at Chase
Field in Arizona. Kirsten Watson from Sports Net LA next,
as we lead job to Dodgers and Diamondbacks potential clenching
divisional game for the Dodgers today they can clench the
NL West with the win. I'm Tim Kasis is the
world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 3 (09:40):
This is Morongo Cassino Dodgers Hunting game on your home
for LA Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 6 (09:48):
It's the Dodgers and the Diamondbacks. Dodgers win and they
clench the NL West's Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mount Jalen
Beaks is the opener for the Snakes.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
First pitch coming up at twelve forty.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
This is the Otani rewide.
Speaker 4 (10:04):
O'tani swings hammers at deep to center.
Speaker 3 (10:06):
Failed.
Speaker 4 (10:07):
This ball is back toward the wall and it is
off the top of the wall. Otani around second base.
He's on his way to third.
Speaker 3 (10:15):
Throw to third. He is in with a pop up.
Speaker 4 (10:18):
Slide and a leadoff triple. Oh, he just missed the
leadoff home run and landed below the yellow line across
the centerfield.
Speaker 3 (10:27):
Wall, came off.
Speaker 4 (10:30):
The wall and O'tani picks up his ninth triple of
the Caesar Show.
Speaker 6 (10:36):
Hey Otani, the batter won for five last night with
that triple now heating two eighty one on the season.
As Tim never mentioned, that was his ninth triple of
the year. Dodgers winning in eleven innings last night, five
to four.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
This is Kirston's Corner with Kirston Watson.
Speaker 6 (10:54):
Hey Kirson own joins us from the field in Arizona.

That's Cars with the K to donate your car today.
It's down to one. A chance to win the division
today in Arizona.
Speaker 1 (11:11):
Cures that. I know the Dodgers, they want to get
this done now.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
Yeah, they're ready.
Speaker 2 (11:16):
You know.
Speaker 7 (11:16):
Look when you come in. They came into this season
their biggest focus was not only just winning the division,
getting back into the postseason, hopefully finding a way to
make history repeating US back to back World Series champions.
Speaker 3 (11:28):
That was what the goal they sent.
Speaker 7 (11:30):
Obviously, they made a lot of additions and a lot
of acquisitions off it during this offseason, bringing in some
key arms, so the bullten things like that. Obviously a
key arm in the rotation in Blake Snell. So then
you add that piece to it. And obviously everyone was
talking about just how good this group could be. They
were talking about, you know, records setting wins and things
(11:50):
like that. But ultimately this year has proved to be
quite the challenge. It was not as you know, whether
as easy or you know, maybe as just easy. He
could kind of take the division as I thought it
was going to be. And so for them to be
in this position now with four games including to say
left in the regular season, the magic number being one,
they want to get green. It's time for them to
(12:12):
do and achieve the goal that they set forth and
so they want to get it done.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
Now.
Speaker 7 (12:16):
You know, they got Doschinovi al Mota on the mound.
He has such a force for this team all year
and so they're kind of like, there's no one better
to be on the mound. So they just set the
tone for them to pick up the way here.
Speaker 6 (12:27):
Looking at the lineup a little different looking with guys
not in there today.
Speaker 7 (12:33):
Yeah, so no Max went to you out there. Dave
Roberts was saying that I just wanted to give him
a day. We thought that he was pinchmak kind of
late in the game yesterday and then you've got no
Tommy Edmonds, and he was excellent last night and picking
up three hits and just finally, you know, getting some luck.
As much as the swing has been in a really
good spot as of late, ankle has been feeling really good,
(12:53):
you know, for him just to finally get some results.
He was teasing with me afterwards, saying he was kind
of starting to feel a little unlucky out there. So
to see Simball's fall that was huge for him and
just to come and clutch for the team. But again,
they're playing on turf here. You know, obviously, as much
as the ankle is feeling better, they've been keeping an
eye on him. So he had that play in centered
(13:13):
field in which he had to die for it. Then
he was in a situation late in the game in
which he got on base and Dave Roberts kind of
checked in with him see how to see how the
ankle was feeling, and he just felt like, you know,
it's a better idea to have Alex called him to
run for him, so that kind of just led into
him having the off day today, just protect the ankle
health as they are getting ready for the postseason. So
(13:36):
two guys. Those guys are not going to be in
the lineup, but things are. They're still good with him.
It's just more of keeping them healthy and ready for
hopefully very exciting post season run.
Speaker 6 (13:46):
Well hopefully they're celebrating post game. Well, the next time
we hear from you, Kira, so we appreciate it. Well,
check in with you. Then still the come here on
maranggo Becauseino Dodgers on Deck, David Vesey will join us.
We'll get you an injury report, and we hear from
the Dodger manager himself, Dave Roberts. Leading you up to
Dodgers and Diamondbacks on this Wednesday afternoon. I'm Tim Kaysis
the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 3 (14:09):
This is Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck on your home
for the Blue all season long long.
Speaker 6 (14:18):
Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck continues on this Thursday, as
we lead you up to first pitch from Phoenix Dodgers
and Diamondbacks. Marongo Casino Resort and Spa, A Grand Slam
for good times. Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mount. Dodgers win
and they clenched the nl WES first pitch set for
twelve forty.
Speaker 3 (14:36):
This is the LA Dodgers Injury.
Speaker 6 (14:40):
Report, presented by UCLA Healthy, official medical partner of the
Los Angeles Dodgers. You heard from Kirsten No Tommy Edmond
in the line of today. No Max Monty in the
line of today. A day off for months. Kirby Yates
placed on the IL yesterday with the hamstring injury. Dodgers
got Joki a rookie Sasaki back off the IL yesterday's
flip flopping with Kirby Yates, and he was fantastic last
(15:03):
night in his inning of relief. Will Smith on the
I L with the hairline fracture in his right hand.
Brock Stewart on the I L doesn't look like he's
going to be ready for the start of the postseason.
All right, Let's head back out to the desert to
be checking with the Dodgers skipper.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
Any questions for Dave?
Speaker 3 (15:20):
Dave, can you just describe Dave?
Speaker 1 (15:22):
Can you talk about the pressure.
Speaker 3 (15:24):
In the dugouts with Dave Roberts very rewarding.
Speaker 8 (15:30):
That's uh, you know, that's one of our goals as
we started this season to win the division. Yeah, it's
been you know, No, like I say all the time,
it's no, no year is the same. I do feel
that in totality we're playing our best baseball of the season.
(15:55):
The win loss hasn't reflected it, but I think that's
what's most important. There's just been a lot of good
things and a lot of growth from a lot of players,
which has been fun to see. And I think again,
the most important thing is we're coming together at the
right time.
Speaker 7 (16:13):
You've talked about Yoshinobu coming into this year and how
he just impressed and stay one and spring training for
him to potentially be the picture who could be picking
up the win as you all clinch the division. Just
is that kind of perfect ending in a situation for
someone like that, just kind of considering how consistent he's been.
Speaker 8 (16:31):
I think so, you know, if you look at this
starting staff, he's been an anchor for us this year,
a guy that we've gone to when we've needed length,
when we've needed you know, a dominant pitching performance and
he's always delivered, and so to hand the ball to
him today to you know, have the opportunity to clinch
(16:55):
the division again, he's the right person. And yeah, and
he's really you know, last year was a great year
for him, but you know, he's one of those guys
that's taken it to another level this year.
Speaker 9 (17:09):
When you think back to spring training and just all
the talent, you know, you guys have with this scene,
like you have foreseen as many frustrations and challenges, is
this year kind of provided and what does it say
that even with all that, you guys are still kind
of in this position where you can wrap up a division.
Speaker 8 (17:25):
You know, I didn't have too many expectations on you know,
what was going to how it was going to play out.
I guess I guess the thing that I think that
we're all pretty you know, I think that's very telling
is all that we've gone through, that this team stayed connected.
And I think that's where, you know, you get to
(17:48):
learn a lot about players and individually and collectively. You know,
when it gets rough and gets hot and you start
to struggle and injuries and we didn't make any houstonson
we kept fighting, and that's the thing is that even
when it was our darkest, I just didn't see U.
I just always saw our guys stay together and compete.
(18:09):
And I think that now the talent. I believe that
the talent with the fight is going to show through
through October.
Speaker 6 (18:16):
All right, there's a manager, Dave Roberts, excited about the
October baseball coming up and the Dodgers looking to clench
this division today. More on that with David Vassy when
we come back. As we lead you up to first
pitch from Arizona Dodgers and Diamondbacks, the magic number is
one a win today and they clenched the division for
the twelfth time in the last thirteen years. We'll talk
(18:37):
to dv next. I'm Tim Kase's world champion Los Angeles
Dodgers Ago.
Speaker 3 (18:43):
As we were saying, yes, is Marongo Casino Dodgers on
jack on the official home of La Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 6 (18:53):
It's the Dodgers and the Arizona Diamondbacks. It was down
to one a win today they clenched the NL West.
Speaker 1 (19:00):
Will it be a pool party? We'll find out.
Speaker 6 (19:02):
Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mount first pitch coming up at twelve.
Speaker 3 (19:05):
Forty joining Tim Kaits on Dodgers on Deck.
Speaker 10 (19:09):
I accept everybody for who they are.
Speaker 3 (19:11):
This is Dodger insider David Bassi all right, DV.
Speaker 6 (19:15):
I know the Dodgers bullpen has been a big topic
on Dodger talking with Dodger fans. Speaking of talking, the
Dodgers' bullpen players met yesterday and did a little talking.
Speaker 10 (19:25):
Yeah, Dave Roberts, let us know that Josh Bart, the
Dodgers' bullpen coach, brought the relievers together for a meeting.
When I walked into the stadium yesterday, I saw him
speaking to it. Gardo Enriquez. He has one on one conversations,
not so much about mechanics, but the thought process and confidence.
And obviously he felt like the Dodger relievers needed another
(19:48):
meeting because it's not the first time we have seen
or heard about meetings among relievers over the course of
the last four to six weeks. Have they worked some times, yes,
have they not worked other times?
Speaker 5 (20:02):
Yes?
Speaker 10 (20:03):
But last night a rough eighth inning for Alex Vesia
and Edgardo Enriquez and the Dodger bullpen after that, including
Clayton Kershaw and Blake Trinan and Justin Robleski pitched really
well to help the Dodgers win last night. So it's
a daily conversation. I feel from this point forward.
Speaker 6 (20:24):
David has brought to you by four and it's time
to see Ford in a new light. Rokie Susaki. Last night, David,
first time back since May, new role with this Dodgers team.
Speaker 1 (20:33):
Man, he looked really good.
Speaker 4 (20:36):
Yeah, I know.
Speaker 10 (20:36):
The thing I've gathered, Tim is the reason why he
looked as good as he did is because he attacked
and he had confidence.
Speaker 1 (20:43):
And why did he have all that?
Speaker 10 (20:45):
I was told because he's back to throwing one hundred
miles an hour. The last time he threw one hundred
miles an hour in a game was in Japan. Yeah,
it happened in Oklahoma City. But the last time it
happened in a major league game, where professional game, that
was last year in Japan. And we had heard about it.
And it just feels like the Dodgers knew that if
(21:09):
they could get him feeling good about where his fastball
velocity was, he would be more confident. And we certainly
saw a guy that was really confident. And I know
you asked me before we went on the air, is
he going to pitch again. Yeah, like you said, they've
got to test whether or not he can be available
in a short span of time. And I wouldn't be
(21:30):
surprised to see him tomorrow pitch in Seattle two out
of three days. And I'm intrigued to see how he
fares against guys like Randio rose Arena and Cal Rawley
and Huenio Suarez, those type of hitters. That's what I
want to see. But I'm all in after what I
saw last night.
Speaker 6 (21:49):
Yeah, if he can duplicate that and more in October,
sign me up for rookie Susaki David great stuff. We'll
check back in with you just a little bit. Dave's
gonna go one on one with Imichian, another guy who's
been great here in the second half of the season
now that he's healthy, and it's gonna be a big
part of this Dodger team, no doubt about it come
October and the postseason coming up here on WRONGO because
(22:09):
you know, Dodgers on deck, you'll hear from imagean But
up next we'll get your Dodgers magical moment. Don't go anywhere,
Dodgers and Diamondbacks. I'm Tim kas Is the World champion
in Los Angeles.
Speaker 3 (22:18):
Dodgers Audio Network, this is Morongo Casino Dodgers Hunting game

Speaker 1 (22:58):
Well hard to believe.
Speaker 6 (23:00):
Nine years ago today, September twenty fifth, twenty sixteen, Dodgers Stadium,
Dodgers and Rockies. Vin Scully's final home game calling Dodger
Baseball on a day in which Charlie Culberson helped the
Dodgers clinch the West.
Speaker 3 (23:17):
Bottom of the tenth, tied at three.
Speaker 1 (23:21):
Boom Logan, the lefty set and the pitch to Culberson.
Speaker 3 (23:26):
There's a fly ball to left field? Did they do it?
Speaker 4 (23:30):
Charlie Culberson a'll walk off home run.
Speaker 3 (23:35):
The Dodgers win.
Speaker 1 (23:36):
The West for the fourth pitsecud of year.
Speaker 4 (23:40):
But this win is for Finn and Charlie Colberson is
a man who's done it.
Speaker 6 (23:47):

Speaker 6 (24:51):
You can lock in your low price for three years
so you can save big.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
Visit the Verizon store today.
Speaker 3 (24:58):
And now joined by Dat saying, here's La Dodgers broadcaster
and World Series champion Dodger Rick Monday.
Speaker 10 (25:08):
All right, Rick, the Dodgers are knocking on the doorstep
to clinch the NLS. The plastic was already hung up
in the Dodger clubhouse, but obviously they've got to get
it done today.
Speaker 2 (25:18):
I have a question for you, David Vas saying, do
you have a change of clothes with you?
Speaker 3 (25:23):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (25:23):
I do, Rick, it won't be pretty just in case.
Speaker 10 (25:25):
Getaway days are tough for a celebration because I don't
have access to a shower. Yes, so if I'm sharing
a row on the plane to Seattle, somebody's not going
to be happy.
Speaker 2 (25:35):
Although it's better this way than to have it at home,
because then you would have to drive from the stadium
to your home, and should you have been pulled over,
they may be asking that not only where are you
coming from, what have you been drinking?
Speaker 3 (25:50):
But that's not the gate.
Speaker 2 (25:52):
It's nice to finally nail it down. But the Dodgers
have to just kind of tighten the belt, and they've
got the guy on the mound to do it. Because
if you look at young I about the pack, he's
allowed three hits to the seventy three batters he's phased
over the last three starts as Baltimore and San Francisco
two different times for the Giants. He has been in
a role and you can make the argument clearly that
(26:12):
he has been the most effectives started for this Dodger
back club.
Speaker 10 (26:15):
Last night, speaking of countrymen from Japan, Roki Sasaki, are
you a sold brick?
Speaker 2 (26:23):
Put it this way. I don't know if I'm sold
totally on it, but I'm very impressed, and especially when
he starts to look velossity. He was there, He challenged hitters,
He came in difficult situation. I think too, from a
standpoint of coming back after a long layoff. You know,
it's like I've used this analogy before. If you park
your card, you don't drive it for a couple of months,
(26:44):
you feel weird when you get behind the wheel, Yes,
you do. Well, that's the same way. It's been a
few months since he's been on the mound at a
major league level. It's totally different than Camelback ranch games
or other simulated games, or even a minor league game.
There's all kinds of pressure because last night was win
or lose. As he comes into a ballgame very impressed
(27:04):
with what's going on, like to see him one more time.
I think he would like to be used one more time,
at least one more outing. Probably not going to be
in today's game, but there's plenty of things to do.
The Dodgers, I thought last night played defensively, exceptionally well
ha has with two very good catches in the outfield
along with Tommy Edmond. My question with Edmund is that
(27:27):
how is his ankle doing because he was removed from
the game last night.
Speaker 10 (27:31):
That's right, and Mookie Bets even mentioned it to us
when we interviewed him after the game, So I think
everybody is aware that yes he's out there, yes he's playing,
but yes, the right ankle still bothers me.
Speaker 2 (27:41):
It's still an issue, and still an issue too with
Will Smith. I mean with the fracture they discovered in
the back of his right hand and the metacarpal is
in there, so again, kind of concerned about that obviously,
because he's still not even throwing the ball much less.
As we talked the other day about you know, it's
one thing you're throwing the baseball's another thing you're trying
(28:02):
to pick up a bat that weighs two pounds in swinging.
Speaker 10 (28:05):
I'm really rooting for Dalton Rushing. Rick He's getting the
opportunity to start today. Ben Roartfitt has cut into his time,
but I feel like who has the higher ceiling. It's
Dalton Rushing to help the Dodgers in the postseason.
Speaker 2 (28:18):
Higher ceiling to go forward. Yes, Roadved has done, I think,
at least to my estimation, a wonderful job and coming
in under the circumstances on how he has taken control
when he's behind the plate helping the pitchers blocking the balls,
I think he does that very well, and his throwing
has been pretty good on top of it when it
(28:39):
attempted stolen bases. But there is an opportunity for Dalton Rushing.
I agree one hundred percent he has more of an
upside because of his age and experience. He's going to
gain that and I think this has been a big
year for Rushing also because he's had a chance more
than just a taste more than just a flavor of
the big league level. He's going to have a very
good understanding at the end of the season, whenever that is,
(29:00):
hopefully it's after the World Series, but whenever that is,
he will go to the offseason knowing what he needs
to be equipped with and doing when he gets the
spring training to get prepared for next year.
Speaker 10 (29:10):
All right, Rick, we'll see on the plane. We'll see
whether or not I'm smelling like the bubbly on the
plane to Seattle.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
We hope you stink.
Speaker 10 (29:17):
All right, thanks a lot. Yeah, we'll send it back
to you in the studio.
Speaker 5 (29:20):
Tim.
Speaker 10 (29:20):
That's the nicest thing Rick Monday has said to me
on this road trip.
Speaker 6 (29:25):
So nice of Rick. All Right, that's the Dodger game plan.
Dodger fans, you need a game plan too. David's got one.
He's got a change of clothes just in case he
needs to if there's a celebration postgame. Start your future
to California Community college. Financial aids available to help you
with tuition, books, sometimes even the rent. It's time to
take that next big stime. Classes can fill um quickly,
So in roll today and I can go to college
Dot Cole still to come.
Speaker 1 (29:46):
Rick will be back talk with Tim Neverert the Keys
to the game.
Speaker 6 (29:48):
But up next David Vat saying, goes high and tight
with Immit Shean, Who's gonna be a big factor for
this Dodger pitching staff this October image she and next
as we lead you up to Dodgers and Diamondbacks. A
chance to clench the division today in Arizona. I'm Tim
Kates's the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 3 (30:06):
Thank you. As we were saying, this is Marongo Casino
Dodgers on tack on, the official home of La Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 6 (30:19):
Dodgers a chance to clench the division today in Arizona.
The magic number is one Dodger victory and they will
celebrate in the desert their twelfth divisional title in the
last thirteen years. Where they need to take care of
business first. Yoshinobo Yamamoto on the Mount Dodgers Baseball brought
to you by Shaky's Pizza Parlor, the official pizza partner
of the Dodgers' audio broadcast. When it's game day and lunchtime,
(30:42):
get it done at Shaky's dot Com.
Speaker 3 (30:45):
And now what will likely be vassy fielding insults from
a Dodger player.
Speaker 1 (30:50):
It's an engagement of endearment.
Speaker 3 (30:51):
This is high and tight.
Speaker 10 (30:54):
We are joined right now by Emmitt Sheen, who has
been such a big part of the Dodgers second half. Emmett,
thanks a lot for the time.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
Appreciate it.
Speaker 5 (31:01):
Yeah, thank you dude.
Speaker 10 (31:02):
Hey, what's this been like for you?
Speaker 5 (31:03):
Emmett?
Speaker 10 (31:03):
As far as just being such a big part of
the second half, Dave Roberts in spring training said you
would be the sleeper pick of the second half, and
you made him look like no, stra damis thank you.
Speaker 11 (31:15):
No, It's been awesome to be able to contribute and
get some wins. Hopefully I can keep doing it.
Speaker 10 (31:21):
What's been the biggest key to why you've been able
to be so good? Is it because you've changed the
way you pitch? Is it because you're throwing the slider?
Is the slider a big reason why?
Speaker 3 (31:31):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (31:32):
Yeah?
Speaker 11 (31:32):
Probably probably sequencing stuff and just the way I have
been attacking hitters a little bit different for sure. I
think that goes back to Mark and Connor, the coaches
and the strained staff with getting my my throw in
the right place, making it easier to execute and yeah,
for those guys drawing up the game plan, I.
Speaker 10 (31:49):
Was watching you play catch as you were getting ready
for your start this week and in Seattle. Is it
ever lost on you that you were playing catch with
a purpose with Clayton Kershaw, who obviously has kind of
been a big brother to you and a few others.
Speaker 5 (32:04):
No, definitely not never gets lost on me.
Speaker 11 (32:06):
It's always really cool to be able to do that
and to be able to spend any time I can
with Kersh and a lot of the other guys, all
these other guys in the team that have done so much.
Speaker 5 (32:15):
In the league.
Speaker 10 (32:16):
What was that experience like today playing catch with him?
Because he never just plays catch, he's playing catch with
a purpose, and I would assume he's demanding that from
whoever's on the other side.
Speaker 11 (32:27):
Yeah, definitely. I think I try to be locked in
every day in catch play. But it's definitely, you know
a little bit more. You want to make sure you
make a good throw to him. You don't want him
chasing the ball around or anything, or throwing it as knees.
So I think, yeah, I think every day I'm trying
to be locked in and execute during cash play. I
(32:48):
think that plays a big role in having success on
the mound. But yeah, it's really cool to be able
to play catch with him.
Speaker 10 (32:54):
How did you find out that he was retiring?
Speaker 11 (32:59):
I knew like a little bit before, but uh, nothing
like it's for certain, So I find out when everybody
else found out pretty much.
Speaker 10 (33:06):
I know his family has been with him virtually all season.
But you you were welcome into the Kershaw rental for
about a week. Were you surprised? And what does that
say about him to invite you and young Jack Dryer
to stay with him?
Speaker 5 (33:21):
It was awesome.
Speaker 11 (33:22):
It's it's really cool that he was, you know, offered
to do that, and I really appreciate that. It just
says so much about how good of a person he
is off the field. I think most people know that
by now. But yeah, he's just generous guy, and it
was it was really cool to be able to do that.
Speaker 10 (33:39):
Jack told me one night, you and Jack get to
the get back home late, and he would get there
a little bit before you, but would wait up for
you guys like uh, like a dad would.
Speaker 5 (33:51):
Yeah, it was it was pretty cool.
Speaker 11 (33:52):
He was, uh, you know, we were talking pitching, talking life,
and it was it was really it was something I'll
I'll probably never forget for sure.
Speaker 10 (34:00):
What'd you think about this past weekend at Dodger Stadium.
You've had these incredible experiences with him that not a
lot of guys have been part of his teams, But
just seeing the way the fans reacted to him this
past weekend.
Speaker 11 (34:14):
I mean, it was just it was really awesome to
see they have so much love for him, obviously, and
he's earned every bit of it, and just to see
him get his flowers. And I know he doesn't like
to make it hi about himself at all, but it
was super cool to get to see that happen.
Speaker 10 (34:28):
Emmit Sheen is our guest in front of first pitch
between the Dodgers and Diamondbacks. A cool scene here. I
was waiting for Emmett for a while. I mean, Emmitt
did everything that I have never seen him do before
getting ready for this start, including signing autographs along the
right field line for about twenty minutes. That was something
inspiring that you don't see a lot of guys.
Speaker 5 (34:50):
Do I feel like a lot of guys get him
out of guys? Do you got that long?
Speaker 2 (34:54):
I don't know.
Speaker 11 (34:55):
I feel bad if I see like a kid and
I signed for one and then I see another one.
Speaker 5 (34:58):
I don't want to dish him.
Speaker 10 (35:00):
I was wondering, how is this ever going to end?
There were a lot of Dodger fans pouring in.
Speaker 5 (35:03):
Yeah, sometimes you just have to do all of them.
I think, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 10 (35:07):
But that means a lot to you. Right to sign autographs,
spend time take selfies with fans.
Speaker 5 (35:12):
Yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 11 (35:13):
I mean I remember coming to the ballpark as a
kid and just like begging guys to give me an
autograph for a ball So it's cool to be able
to do that for a lot of people.
Speaker 10 (35:22):
Before I let you go, Emmett, you guys are on
the verge of clinching the NL West. You got the
playoffs starting next week. You've shown that you can be
nimble and adapt to being a starter or coming out
of the bullpen. How much are you looking forward to
being part of this October in either one of those roles.
Speaker 5 (35:41):
I'm really excited.
Speaker 11 (35:43):
I got a little taste of the postseason in twenty
twenty three. Obviously we didn't do what we wanted to
do that year, but you know, having missed last year
and not being a part of it, I'm super excited
to try to contribute and try to get us to
the ultimate.
Speaker 10 (35:57):
Cool with how many veteran starters you have that are
so well, you're obviously pitching off the charts as well,
But are you starting to mentally prepare yourself that the
best way you can help the Dodgers win is by
coming out of the bullpen?
Speaker 5 (36:11):
Sure?
Speaker 11 (36:11):
I mean I definitely think, uh, you know, I'm up
for whatever they want me to do, uh completely, you know, anything,
So I don't care if it's you know, day, you know,
pitching back to back or long relief or starting if
I have to start. But yeah, no, I'm I'm cool
with whatever.
Speaker 10 (36:31):
Hey, thanks a lot for the time.
Speaker 1 (36:33):
I'm really happy for you.
Speaker 10 (36:34):
You're one of the more genuine great guys that I've
been around with the Dodgers this season, and you're an
easy guy to root for. I think we all hear that,
we see that, and you have great spirit about yourself.
So enjoy this and do what Kershaw does. Enjoy the
burn whenever that happens. No goggles.
Speaker 5 (36:53):
She in all right, I will. I appreciate it. Thanks
David there, he is great guy. Emit.
Speaker 10 (36:57):
She and Dave Roberts sleeper. I'm gonna call him. She
handed the sleeper. We'll send it back to the studio.
Speaker 6 (37:03):
Tim, all right, thank you sleeper, Thank you, DV appreciate it.
Leading yet to first pitch from Arizona, Bobby. Not the
last we heard from m is she and today the
Dodgers win. I'm sure we'll catch back up with them postgame.
A little celebration for first things. First, Dodgers need to
win today and clinch that NL West. We'll dive deeper
into today's pitching matchup next. Don't go anywhere.
Speaker 1 (37:23):

at the pitching.
Speaker 6 (37:47):
Matchup presented by your Southern California Toyota Dealers. Work hard,
play hard in the New Tacoma with an ifour Serbo
charts engine. At the truck built for the bold see
your Toyota dealer today. They make it easy Jalen Beaks
the opener for the diamond thirty two year old left hander.
He's in there as the second time as the opener
for the Diamonbacks this year, twenty career starts zero to
fourth of five to thirty eight er the Dodgers saw
(38:09):
him in relief a third of an inning on Tuesday Night.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto goes for the Dodgers, twenty seven year old
right hander, making his thirtieth start. Yamamoto ranks amongst the
National League leaders an ERA whip opponents, batting average and
strikeouts top ten with one hundred and ninety four and county.
If he gets the sixth of them today, he's up
to two hundred. Last time out, five and a third innings,
(38:30):
no runs, one hit, seven strikeouts, six walks, and a
no decision against the Giants. In fact, his last three
starts to combine twenty one innings, two runs, three hits,
twenty seven strikeouts. One of those starts was almost a
no hitter against the Orioles, facing the Diamondbacks for the
sixth time in his MLB career, two and one with
the two to thirty ERA and thirty six strikeouts He
last faced him on August thirty, first, going seven innings,
(38:51):
allowing one run on four hits and striking out seven
in a no decision. Yoshinobu Yamamoto Jalen Beaks the opener
for the Snakes.
Speaker 1 (39:01):
Dodgers. Diamondbacks were fifteen minutes away from first pitch. Keys
to the game.
Speaker 6 (39:05):
Our next, I'm Tim Kase's World champion Los Angeles Dodgers
Audio Network.
Speaker 3 (39:11):
This is Marongo Casino Dodgers on tap on your home
for the Blue All Season Law Law.
Speaker 6 (39:21):
It's the Dodgers and the Diamondbacks. Dodgers win and they
clinched the division in the NL West. Yoshinobo Yamamoto on
the mound, first pitch, coming up at twelve forty before that,
let's head back out to the booth one final time.
Speaker 1 (39:33):
Tim nevertt Rick Monday, Guys.
Speaker 4 (39:34):
Tim, thanks again. We get you ready for this one.
It could be a division clincher with the magic number
at one as the Dodgers look for their fourth straight
division title. Yoshinobo Yamamoto making his thirtieth start. He's got
the best average against in Major League Baseball. The opponent's
hitting only one to eighty three against. Him, and he
needs just six strikeouts to reach two hundred I I.
Speaker 2 (39:57):
If you look at the Gamamoto too, if to two
count on hitters, it's an incredible ninety seven batting average
against him. He's had three starts against Arizona this year.
And for the Dodgers, yes, the magic number is one,
and they would truly have the happiest flight so far
of the season. Headed to Seattle and.
Speaker 4 (40:16):
Again the Diamondbacks deciding to go to an opener with
Jalen Beaks the left hander and Nebil Chris Matt expected
to pitch. After that, it'll be all hands on deck
out of the bullpen for the Diamondbacks as they set
up their pitching for their final series against the Padres
beginning tomorrow in San Diego.
Speaker 2 (40:33):
And we know one thing, the Diamondbacks are going to
be overly aggressive. They need a win.
Speaker 4 (40:39):
Dodgers and Diamondbacks magic number one. This could be the
division clincher here today, stand by the lineups and first
pitch coming up from Phoenix, Arizona.
Speaker 1 (40:48):
All right, thank you guys.
Speaker 6 (40:49):
Dodgers will wrap up this series in Arizona, hopefully with
a win and a divisional title for the twelfth time
in their last thirteen years. With the Magic No down
to one, and then either way, it's off to Seattle
for a three game series against the Mariners, who are
red hot, having clenched the AL West Divisional title last
(41:10):
night in the Pacific Northwest Show, Hey O Tani, we'll
lead things up for the Dodgers at bullpen game for
the Arizona Diamondbacks. Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound for the Dodgers,
looking for his first win in over a month and
as Tim mentioned, six strikeouts away from two hundred on
this season. Dodgers Diamondbacks, can they clench the division? We'll
(41:33):
find out together with a win next. This has been
Morongo Casino Dodgers on Deck on the World champion Los
Angeles Dodgers Audio Network
