Kirsten Watson from Sports and at LA, and in just

(01:45):
Broadcast booth with Tim Neffett and Rick Monday.

Speaker 7 (01:48):
Well.

Speaker 4 (01:48):
Last night at Camden Yards, no other way to describe it,
a huge letdown. Yamamoto pitched a fantastic game, flirting with
a no no, only to have the Dodgers lose it
in the ninth the only time in the history of
Camden Yards as a pitcher thrown a no hitter. Well
that came from Adeo Nomo in two thousand and one
when he was with the Boston Red Sox. Last night,

(02:10):
we were one out away from the second no hitter
being thrown at that ballpark. Yoshinobu Yamamoto exactly what the
Dodgers needed to try to stop.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
That four game losing streak.

Speaker 4 (02:20):
He delivered, doing his part, not giving up a hit
for eight plus innings. Meanwhile, the Dodgers' offense gave Yama
some run support to work with. In the third, they
manufactured a run show hey Otani RBI ground out, bringing
in Miguel Rojas.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Dodgers led one to nothing.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
In the fifth, Dodgers again manufacturing a run leadof double
from Rojas, a sack butt a single. Two batters later,
Mookie Betts delivered with an infield single, Dodgers up two
to nothing. Then in the seventh and Dodgers added to
that lead again. It was Mookie stretch.

Speaker 8 (02:51):
Look at the runner at second. Now with pitch de Bets,
He swings and he belts it in the left field.
That ball is going to be passed the diving left fielder.
Beaver as it goes to the wall, touches third. He's
gonna score Bets around second.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
He's on his way to third.

Speaker 8 (03:04):
The relay is dropped and Mookie is in with a
triple the Dodgers leading three nothing.

Speaker 4 (03:10):
RBI triple for Mookie bets Dodgers a three to nothing lead.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto meanwhile stacking zeros through seven innings.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
He retired the side in order. Then in the eighth inning.

Speaker 4 (03:20):
In the ninth, Yamamoto three outs away from a no hitter,
a strikeout, a flyout to center. Two down, Yamamoto one
out away from a no no in Baltimore, when up
came Jackson Holiday.

Speaker 8 (03:34):
Two outs, bottom of the ninth, two balls, one strike.
The pitch swung on and driven the right field indep.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
Pie has going back. Pie has to the track.

Speaker 8 (03:45):
Pie has looks up, it's off the wall, and Jackson
Holiday breaks up the no hitter.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
It's gonna be gone. They're gonna call that a home run.
They went off the top of the wall.

Speaker 8 (03:57):
In the second base umpire Chris Conroy pulls at a
home run.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
And the no hit bid is over.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
Home run Jackson Holiday with two outs in the ninth,
the no hitter done. Yamamoto exited the game, and it
got worse after that. Blake Tring and Tanner Scott couldn't
get the final out of the game, Orioles walk off
the Dodgers, if you can believe at four to three
a stunning swing of the momentum as the Dodgers were

(04:26):
one out away from a no hitter. Instead, they've now
lost five in a row. They're leading the division down
to just one game over the Padres. For Yamamoto, another
no decision despite pitching his tailoff. He's also the first
Dodger to pitcher to lose a no hitter bid with
two outs in the ninth since Dazzy Vance did it
back on June seventeenth, nineteen twenty three, when the club

(04:48):
was known as the Brooklyn Robbins back then. Now, somehow
the Dodgers have to turn the page, get back at
it today in Baltimore and somehow put last night behind them.
Clayton Kershaw on the mound today in the series finale.
First pitch Oriole Park at Camden Yards coming up in
ten thirty five, and with more we head out to
the Gallpin Motors broadcast booth as we say good morning
to Tim Nevert and Rick Monday.

Speaker 8 (05:07):
Guys, Tim, thank you very much. Bright Blue Skies here
in Baltimore, and it is a new day for the Dodgers.
Dodgers seventy eight and sixty four, just one game up
on the Padres, now in the National League Western Division,
the Orioles sixteen games back and in last place in
the American League East at sixty six and seventy six.
And it'll be the left handed veteran Clayton Kershaw will

(05:31):
be called upon today to be the stopper of the
bleeding Kershaw nine and two and a three two eight era,
as he will take on newcomer Tomojoki Sugano, the thirty
five year old rookie who spent twelve years with the
Yomiyori Giants in Tokyo, so Sogano against Kershaw, the pitching

(05:51):
matchup and mal the talk is still about last night
down on the dugout on the field in the clubhouse.
The Dodgers and the Orioles and people in the media
just still haven't gotten over last night. And it's a
tough one to get over. That's really something you hardly
ever see when you have a pitcher go eight and
two thirds no hit baseball. You're literally one strike away

(06:13):
from ending the game and you lose four to three.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
Well from extreme excitement to extreme disappointment, and it only
took about three seconds for that to change course. Dodters,
by the way, have to change course as well. They
have to avoid the sweep, not just the sweep here
in Baltimore, but to sweep on the road trip. They
were swept the first three in Pittsburgh and not good
outings here in Baltimore, So farm a lot of different

(06:38):
areas to really kind of share the blame. The bullpend
imploated last night after Yamamota was taken out of the ballgame,
there's still not a takeaway the brilliance of what Yamamoto
did last night. I mean the way that he controlled
the game, the way that he made pitches. I didn't agree.
I was a little surprise on the pitch selection when

(06:59):
the home run was hit right handed pitcher to a
left handed batter, the cutter low and end after passing
up throwing the splitter, which is really his bread and
butter pitch. But nonetheless, that was just a fabulous outing
that we saw from Yamamoto that gave more than just
a chance for his ball club to win.

Speaker 8 (07:18):
Interesting he had the PitchCom device on his left hip.
He was calling most, if not all, of the pitches
last night, so he got to wonder in his next
outing if he's going to do that again. He did
that last night because he was throwing to a catcher
he wasn't familiar with and ben Royd Fetter's brand new
of the organization. So Yamamoto wanted to call the pitches. Now,
the question is will he do it again next time?

Speaker 2 (07:38):
Yeah? I just wonder too, is that, you know, not
really second guessing the pitch, But did Yamamoto see something
in the swing or the approach from Jackson Holliday who
was the hitter to say, hey, look, I need to
come back with a cutter. I think he did not
want it in that particular location. But then I mean,
it was a long night also for Blake Ryman came in,

(08:00):
he phaced four batters, did not retire a batter, made
twenty two pitches and only nine pitches were in the
strength zone and he got taked with the loss. He
had a wild pitch, he hit a batter he walked
to on top of it. Besides the base hit, and
then the final hit by Emmanuel Rivera to knock in
the last couple of runs. So disappointment, no question about

(08:21):
it for the Dodgers, and they've got to kick it
in a gear. I mean, here's the numbers that really
hit you in the face. Only twenty games left in
the regular season. Ten of those will be at home,
one of those starting tomorrow night. But between now and
tomorrow night, Dodgers need a victory.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
They do. They've got to get back in the win column.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
Today.

Speaker 8 (08:38):
They'll try to do it without two of the regular outfielders,
to Ascar Hernandez and Andy Piez both out of the lineup.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
Yeah, in a different to the lineup. Michael Conforda will
bat in the four spot. He's in left field, Alice
call will be in right, Miguel Rojas at third, and
so on. Kim will be at second base and kick
and Hernanez will get the start in centerfield again behind
the plate doing the catching and batting night.

Speaker 8 (09:03):
So it's tomo Juki Sogano against Clayton Kershaw, final game
of the.

Speaker 3 (09:08):
Six game road trip. Dodgers looking for a win.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
Tim, all right, thank you, Tim, as we cutting down
to first pitch.

Speaker 4 (09:14):
Dodger fans get that game game meal on today at
Shaky's pizza parlor. You can order that Shaky's Pizza, Chicken
and Moojo's at Shaky's dot Com. All right, coming up
here on Morongo Casino Dodgers on Deck, we'll hear from
the manager, Dave Roberts. We'll check in with David Vasse.
We'll get your Dodgers magical moment. We'll dive deeper into
this pitching matchup. But up next your Otani rewind and

(09:34):
Sports and at LA's Kirsten Watson will stop by. That's
all coming up as we lead you up to Dodgers
and Orioles on this Sunday morning, first pitch in Baltimore
at ten thirty five.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
Thanks for being with us.

Speaker 4 (09:44):
I'm Tim Kass, the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.

Speaker 6 (09:51):
This is Morongo Casino Dodgers Hunting game on your home
for LA Dodgers Baseball.

Speaker 4 (10:01):
Brongo Casino Dodgers on Decontinus on this Sunday morning. Tim
Kate's with you Dodgers and the Orioles in Baltimore. Clayton
Kershaw on the mountain making his first start ever at
Camden Yards, first start ever against the Orioles in his
Hall of Fame career first pitch coming up at ten
thirty five.

Speaker 8 (10:17):
This is the Otani rewinde and the three two that
swung on and hit on the right field. That's a
base hift, a lead off single for Otani, and that's
how this one begins.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
I tried to go with the sinker, but he elevated
the singer and Otani went up and hit it hard.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
Show hey.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
Otani won for five with an RBI ground out, and
the third as the Dodgers got on the board early,
had Yamamoto dealing. Unfortunately, the Dodgers get walked off in
the ninth four to three.

Speaker 6 (10:47):
This is Kirston's corner with Kirston Watson.

Speaker 1 (10:52):
Here's it now.

Speaker 4 (10:52):
Joints is brought to you by Cars for Kids. Ready
to donate that old car? Call eight seven seven Cars
for Kids right now, Friendly agents standing by to take
your donation. That's Cars with the King to donate your
car today. Well last night, well it's just a disaster
the way it ended last night, Kirsten with the no
hit bid ended with two outs of the ninth inning.
The Dodger somehow got to turn the page. Yesterday. Yamamoto

(11:14):
was the stopper, they thought, until he wasn't and the
game got away. Today, the next guy line to be
the stopper is Clayton Kershaw.

Speaker 9 (11:21):
Yeah, and you know what the positive right now is
we have an excellent starting pitching. If you look at
just how this road trip has gone, even if you
look at Clayton Kershaw's last outing in Pittsburgh. I mean,
as much as that first inning was a bit tough
for him, how he was able to kind of get
back on track to get through five innings of work
that was huge. And so for him he comes into
this one, yes, being asked to be the stopper, as

(11:43):
much as I kind of want to say, unfortunately is last.
Fortunately he has been in this position before. But he's
a future Hall of Famer.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
He knows what to do.

Speaker 9 (11:50):
He sets the tone from pitch one. Guys want to
play up to a high level behind him. That's not
saying that they don't want to do that behind other pitchers,
but when it comes to Clayton Kershaw, there is something
more to it. And also this is kind of a
special outing for him because he's never pitched here and
so for him to being having this opportunity, obviously we
don't know what his future looks like, but just for

(12:12):
him to kind of hopefully end on a high note
here in Baltimore, that would be huge, picking up the
wind when it comes to just his career as a whole.
But look, when you look at how last night ended,
it was obviously it kind of left a saber taste
in everyone's mouth because it was so good for so
long until it just felt like the rug was pulled
underneath your feet. That being said, there were really good

(12:33):
at bouts yesterday. We saw some small ball. We saw
whether it was the triples from Freddy, from Mookie, just
moments like that. Seeing how they were able to kind
of pass the baton was huge. So hopefully we can
see a continuation of that in a really solid start
from Clayton Kershaw.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
On the positives.

Speaker 4 (12:51):
The Dodgers are starting to get healthy and a guy
who's been a big miss in this lineup has been
Max Munsey. They've missed him a lot in the middle
of that lineup, and it feels like he's coming back.

Speaker 6 (13:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (13:01):
So the team heads back home to Los Angeles tonight.
They'll start a three game homestand a short little homestand
with the Rockies tomorrow in Maximunzy should be activated. So
Dave said, he's been in a good spot. He feels good,
just kind of managing that oblique that he's been battling,
so they're excited for him. You also have Tommy Edmond
who's going to be making a return in this homestand

(13:21):
Dave didn't he didn't know what exact day he's going
to be returning. He should be in the lineup with
OKC today, but we should be seeing him. And then
there's also Alex Vesia that we should be seeing, which
will be a huge boost to the bullpen since we
know that the high leverage arms, there's a few struggles
at the moment, little things out of that are uncharacteristic
from those guys right now. So Alex will be a

(13:42):
huge addition just back to the bullpen when the team
gets back to Los Angeles.

Speaker 7 (13:46):
No doubt about it.

Speaker 1 (13:46):
They need to end this road trip on a positive note.

Speaker 2 (13:49):
That is for sure.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
Kirsty, we appreciate it.

Speaker 4 (13:51):
We'll check out with you after the game still to
come here on Wrongo Casino Dodgers on Deck, we'll preview
this pitching matchup.

Speaker 1 (13:55):
We'll check in with David Vesse, but I'm next.

Speaker 4 (13:57):
An injury report and we'll hear from the manage himself,
Dave Roberts. It's the Dodgers and Orioles on this Sunday morning,
first pitch at ten thirty five. I'm Tim Kas's the
world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.

Speaker 6 (14:10):
This is Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck on your home
for the blue all season long.

Speaker 4 (14:19):
Wrongo Casino Dodgers on Deck continues on this Sunday morning
as we lead you up to first pitch from Baltimore
Dodgers and the Orioles Morongo Casino Resort and Spa, a
Grand Slam for good times. Clayton Kershaw, Tomoyuki Sogano the
pitching matchup. First pitch from Camden Yard said for ten
thirty five.

Speaker 6 (14:37):
This it's the LA Dodgers injury report, present.

Speaker 4 (14:42):
Of my UCLA healthy official medical partner of the Los
Angeles Dodgers. Dodgers are banged up right now, Dalton rushing
on the iel with the right leg bone bruise. Tyler
Glass now not on the IL but back here in
Los Angeles. Flew back over the weekend after the sore
back prevented him starting against the Orioles on Friday, Dave
saying yesterday they're hopeful he'll join the rotation again here soon.

(15:03):
Alex Vessi on the I L he's going to join
this Dodgers team, looks like tomorrow when they return for
the next Homestand Tommy Edmond and Triple A working his
way back from an ankle injury. Max Munsey on the
eel with a brid obleaque injury. He too, working his
way back in Okay. See Roki Sasaki on the IL.
He's been a few starts in Triple A Oklahoma City,
trying to figure out if there's room for him in

(15:23):
this rotation down the stretch. All Right, we head back
out to Baltimore. If we check in with the Dodger
Skipper answer.

Speaker 10 (15:32):
Questions for Dave.

Speaker 3 (15:33):
Dave, can you just describe Dave?

Speaker 11 (15:35):
Can you talk about the pressure in the dugouts with
Dave Roberts, Certainly he said a lot of you know,
goes at being the stopper and you know, the responsibility,
and he always rises to the occasion.

Speaker 2 (15:52):
And yeah, today's a game that you know, we need
to win.

Speaker 12 (15:55):
And you know, from last night I thought there were
still a lot of good things from last night, and
so you know, if the guys are coming in with
a positive mindset, certainly frustration.

Speaker 5 (16:09):
Hunger.

Speaker 12 (16:10):
So we got to go out there and play well.

Speaker 3 (16:11):
We got to pitch well.

Speaker 12 (16:12):
We got to play good defense behind Clayton, who's going
to be efficient. He's going to throw the ball over
the plate, ball is going to be in play, and
we got to take good at bets.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
All right.

Speaker 1 (16:21):
That's the manager, Dave Roberts.

Speaker 4 (16:23):
His pregame thoughts is the Dodgers need to get a
win in Baltimore today, at least one win on this
road trip after being swept in Pittsburgh. Dodgers on the
brink of getting swept by the Orioles. If they don't
get a win today, will we continue here on Morongo
Casino Dodgers on Deck. We'll check in with David Bassay.
We lead dropped the first pitch. Dodgers and Orioles. I'm
Tim Kains's the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.

Speaker 6 (16:46):
As we were saying, yes, is Marongo Casino Dodgers on
deck on the official home of La Dodgers Baseball.

Speaker 4 (16:57):
It's the Dodgers and the Orioles on this Sunday morning.
Need to get back at it after a rough night
last night. To end at Clayton Kershaw on the mound.
Perfect guy to have to go on this Sunday morning.
First pitch from Baltimore coming up at ten thirty.

Speaker 6 (17:10):
Five, joining Tim Kats on Dodgers Deck.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
I accept everybody for who they are.

Speaker 6 (17:17):
This is Dodger insider David base TV.

Speaker 4 (17:21):
Last night was something you don't see very often. A
team went out away from a no hitter and then
a complete meltdown.

Speaker 1 (17:28):
They say the game speeds up on people. Sometimes.

Speaker 4 (17:31):
It felt like that ninth inning with two outs, things
got away from the Dodgers quickly.

Speaker 10 (17:36):
Yeah, and specifically Blake Trining, who threw twenty two pitches,
nine of them were strikes. He just needed one out
to help Yamamoto and the Dodgers secure that win, even
after Yamamoto's no hitter was ended by a home run
by Jackson Holiday. Here's what Blake Trning had to say

(17:56):
after last night's disappointing loss.

Speaker 7 (17:58):
Obviously, command, there's really no words. You know, you're paid
to be a professional and at least throw strikes, and
I didn't do that. And because one of the better
outings I've ever seen in my career with Hilma. He
deserves better than that. Offense deserves better than that, and
it just really sucks to be on that end of it.
Put Danner in a tough position to come in, you know,

(18:20):
where he's key hold to have throw strikes, great pitches
and particularly hitters are gonna find a way.

Speaker 3 (18:27):
To move move runners.

Speaker 7 (18:28):
So that's a pretty pretty low point for me coming
off the hills of you know, kind of a tough
stretch right here.

Speaker 10 (18:37):
That ending, Like you said, Tim, no mountain visit by
the pitching coach or the manager in that situation. That
also was a little bit of a head scratcher when
you see even a veteran struggling as much as he
was in that type of situation. They needed to slow
the game down for Blake Tryning and he, the coaches,
the catcher all failed to do.

Speaker 4 (18:59):
So we've seen a lot of baseball, David, where does
this one rank last night as far as games that
got away from the Dodgers and just an epic meltdown
and a no hitry you don't see very often and
a no hitter broken up with one out to go.

Speaker 10 (19:13):
Well, look, Tim, the Dodgers have had a lot of
heartbreak regular season losses that cost them postseason bursts. So
you think about Joe Morgan's home run in San Francisco,
Brian Johnson, also a Giants player.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
Hitting a home run to knock him out.

Speaker 10 (19:28):
But this rank's right up there with rich Hill losing
his no hitter in the tenth inning in Pittsburgh back
in twenty seventeen. It was a scoreless tie going to
the bottom of the tenth inning, Josh Harrison hit a
walk off home run off of rich Hill. The Pirates
beat the Dodgers one to nothing, and rich Hill never

(19:48):
pitched a no hitter in his career, so it ranks
right up there, but very inexplicable outcome last night, especially
with the team that is struggling as much as the
Dodgers are right now. You're looking for something good to happen,
like a no hitter or get that performance and get
the win, and you're losing streak.

Speaker 3 (20:09):
But that's just where the Dodgers are at right now.

Speaker 10 (20:11):
They're gonna have to find a way to get a
win today and come home and take care of the
Rockies and maybe start feeling good about themselves again.

Speaker 4 (20:20):
David has brought to you by Ford. It's time to
see Ford in a new light. You mentioned struggling. One game,
it's the offense. One game, it's the offense and defense.
One game, it's the pitching they got away from, like
last night in the ninth inning, the offense as a whole. David,
it's still struggling.

Speaker 3 (20:35):
It really is.

Speaker 10 (20:36):
Last night to him, the Dodgers had multiple opportunities again
to blow that game open and have maybe a five
to six nothing lead going to the ninth inning. Instead
it was three to nothing, which obviously seemed to be
comfortable enough for Yamamoto. But that still doesn't, you know,
make us ignore the fact that the Dodger offense was

(20:59):
three for four team with runners in scoring position last night,
and Freddie Freeman had a triple in the fifth inning
with less than two outs, they never got him home.
Those are the type of things that Dodgers are failing
to do. But I will say this for those that
love the sacrifice bunts, then Rourtfitt, the catcher for the

(21:20):
Dodgers last night, laid down two sacrifice bunts. He's the
first Dodger this season to record two sack bunts in
a game another day.

Speaker 4 (21:29):
Another interesting lineup for the Dodgers is they desperately need
a win today in Baltimore. David appreciate it. We'll check
back in with you in just a little bit. Still
to come here on Morongo Casino Dodgers on deck. We'll
dive deeper to this pitching matchup.

Speaker 1 (21:40):
We'll check in.

Speaker 4 (21:40):
We'll rick Monday, but up next your Dodgers Magical Moment
Dodgers Orioles. Dodgers need a little magic today in Baltimore.
I'm Tim Kasey's the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Nutbud.

Speaker 6 (21:54):
This is Morongo Casino Dodgers hunting on your home for
la Hey Dodgers, Baseball.

Speaker 4 (22:04):
Dodgers and Orioles from Baltimore on this Sunday. Clayton Kershaw
looking to be the stopper to end this five game
losing streak. Tomoyuki Sugano goes for the Orioles first pitch
from Camden Yards coming up at ten thirty five.

Speaker 3 (22:18):
Dog a hot dog who wants a hot cut.

Speaker 6 (22:23):
It's time for the Hawfe Magical Moment. It's magical presented
by Hawkey Hot Dogs.

Speaker 1 (22:30):
Well if the Dodgers taken on the Orioles.

Speaker 4 (22:32):
We go back to July eighteenth, twenty twenty three, Dodgers
in Baltimore to take on the O's. Dodgers would score
big as Jason Hayward got it all started in the
second with a bomb.

Speaker 8 (22:43):
Well's the right hander sets fires and this ball's hammered
the center field deep heading back Hicks to the track to.

Speaker 3 (22:49):
The Wallet's got a three run home run.

Speaker 8 (22:52):
Jason Hayward and the Dodgers strike first tonight.

Speaker 4 (22:56):
It's three nothings, three run home run from jas and
Hayward in the second inning to start a five run second.
Dodgers would score four and the seventh one more in
the eighth as they go on and beat the Orioles
on that July day, ten to three at Camden Yards.
This Hofey Magical moment brought to you by Haffey hot Dogs,
Haffey Soakow's local treasure for nearly one hundred years. Hoffy

(23:18):
hot Dogs local and so great. When we continue here
on Dodgers on Deck, we will check back in with
Rick Monday for leading you up to first pitch on

Speaker 1 (23:27):

Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.

Speaker 6 (23:32):
This is Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck on your home
for the Blue all season longw.

Speaker 4 (23:42):
Dodgers in Baltimore on this Sunday morning as they look
to turn the page after last night's almost no hitter
from Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Clayton Kershaw on the mound. First pitch
from Camden Yards is coming up at ten thirty five time.
Now for the Verizon startup is we're a little bit
more than thirty minutes away from the start of the game. Now, Verizon,
you can locking your low price for three years so

(24:02):
you can save big. Visit the Verizon store today.

Speaker 6 (24:07):
And now joined by David Masse, here's La Dodgers broadcast
and World Series Champion Dodger Rick Monday.

Speaker 10 (24:16):
Rick, this is the beauty of a one hundred and
sixty two game marathon. You can't feel sorry for yourself.
You got to pull yourself up if you're the Dodgers
and play a game today.

Speaker 2 (24:26):
Yeah, I like that, David, You give me yourself a
pep talk.

Speaker 12 (24:30):
I like that.

Speaker 2 (24:31):
So give me a brief synopsis of how well it
went on the calling portion of postgame Dodger talk last night.

Speaker 10 (24:37):
Rick, I'll put it this way, I could have taken
phone calls until midnight Pacific time. It reminded me, Rick
of us being in Pittsburgh in twenty seventeen, and I
said this when Richill gave up a home run in
the tenth inning and a scoreless tie. He had a
no hitter, the Dodgers didn't score for him. It last
night felt that way to me.

Speaker 2 (24:59):
Yeah, let's talk about from a positive standpoint. I thought
that last night what we saw from Yoshinobu Yamamoto was spectacular.
I mean what he did in that ball game, no hitter,
two outs in the bottom of the ninth, and I
did not like the pitch selection at all on that

(25:20):
two to one count that Jackson Holiday hit the home
run for left handed batters, I mean, primarily if you
look at the history of left handed hitters against right
handed pitching, that bow low and d is kind of
in the sweet spot, and that's exactly where that pitch
was on a two to one count. I did not
like the pitch. I would have liked to have seen

(25:41):
maybe a splitter, maybe a slider outside, but not something
inside on a cutter that was kind of in the wheelhouse.
But I still I marvel at what Yamamoto was able
to do last night. It was like a looking at
a symphony. The way that he worked through the lineup,
the pitches that he made and matched up with a

(26:04):
catcher he's never thrown two before. I thought it was
just a terrific and I think that's why it was
even more painful in the way that it finished.

Speaker 10 (26:13):
No doubt, and Yamamoto has been everything and more for
the Dodgers.

Speaker 3 (26:18):
He hasn't missed the start this year.

Speaker 2 (26:20):
Rams Absolutely he's going strong. Yeah, he is, and he
has been the big workhorse. I mean last night that
was the twenty seventh start that he's made this year,
and he's been terrific. I mean on the road, an
ERA under two and a half of the season. That
was his sixteenth start away from Dodger Stadium this year
and on the road. If you look at overall his

(26:42):
work away from Dodger Stadium, you know, it's only a
one eighty seven batting average against. So we've got a
different lineup in the in the ballgame today. What's going
to happen if if Dave Roberts has to go to
the bullpen, because who can he rely upon at this
present time. I mean, here's some other numbers, and let
me just throw them to you right away. And they're
not trying to point fingers, but the numbers are what

(27:03):
the numbers are. The bullpen in the last seven games
has worked nineteen innings. They've giving up seventeen runs. That's
not going to get it done. And by the way,
ladies and gentlemen, there's twenty games left on the schedule,
and that's about the amount of time the Dodgers have
just straightened things out. It's not just the bullpen. Dodgers

(27:25):
have to do a better job in scoring runs. They
have not done that, and they've hit very poorly the
last seven games with runners in scoring position. In fact,
the last eight games they're hitting one eighty six runners
in scoring position. What about the opposing teams in those
eight games three fourteen average. That has to change in
aarry too.

Speaker 10 (27:43):
Well, check that game with you and Tim Nevertt a
little bit.

Speaker 2 (27:46):
Hey, David, I'll tell you what. I'll make a deal
with you. I'll tell the guys. Hey, look, David Vase,
he needs the breath of fresh air so you can
have a better postgame Dodger Talk today. Okay, I appreciate that.

Speaker 3 (27:55):
Rick.

Speaker 2 (27:55):
Thanks, Okay, see you tomorrow at the stadium.

Speaker 3 (27:57):
See you tomorrow.

Speaker 10 (27:58):

Speaker 4 (28:54):
On this Sunday morning, Clayton Kershaw goes for the Blue
looking to snap their five game losing Street Dodger is
going to play one game up in the division over
the Padres.

Speaker 1 (29:03):
First pitch coming up at ten thirty five.

Speaker 4 (29:05):
Dodgers Baseball brought to you by Shaky's Pizza Parlor, the
official pizza partner of the Dodgers' audio broadcast. When it's
game day, it's group day at Shakey's dot Com.

Speaker 6 (29:16):
And now what will likely be vess a fielding insults
from a Dodger player.

Speaker 1 (29:21):
It's an engagement of endearment this high and tight.

Speaker 10 (29:24):
The Dodgers and Orioles getting set for first pitch, and
we're joining right now by one of the best authors
in America. She just got endorsed by the Wall Street
Journal to be the next Commissioner of Baseball. You've read
her biographies on Sandy Kofax and Mickey Mannle. She has
a brand new book out, Make Me Commissioner. I Know

(29:44):
What's wrong with Baseball and how to fix it. The
one and only Jane Levy joins us. Jane thank you
so much for the time, and what an endorsement? Are
you the next commissioner?

Speaker 5 (29:55):
You know Rob's got some time left on his deal. Yeah,
I didn't. I didn't decide to put myself forward until
he announced that he was going to step down in
twenty nine, at which point I said, why not me?

Speaker 10 (30:12):
Is that where the genesis of the idea for the
book came?

Speaker 5 (30:15):
No, actually it came from mister Kofax and mister Torri.
I was having breakfast with him at the famed Oda
Saga in twenty nineteen at Marianna Rivera's induction, and they
were having this private chat that I wasn't being a reporter,
so I didn't have anything to record with or write with.

(30:36):
But they had this like little private chat, you know,
picture to catcher about what was going on in baseball,
the way the pictures were throwing it and which forced
the betters to do this and back and forth in
bathroom force, and they had it solved and described, analyzed
and solved in thirty seconds, right, And I'm sitting there going,
I wish I could write that down or remember it.

(30:57):
As Joe goes, Joe goes hard to watch and Sandy
goes I don't watch. That was the genesis when Sandy
Kofax says, I've had enough of it. A lot of
friends have told me they've had enough of it. You know, Okay,
they don't have to love it the way I do

(31:19):
or you do. But when Sandy Kofax says that, you
got to listen, and you'll recall that. In the off season,
I think it was after twenty one, the headlines were dire,
Baseball's dying, Baseball's broken, Baseball should be federalized, and that
added to the impetus for this. So when they finally

(31:43):
announced the new rules, I had to throw out two
full years of writing and reporting, and I decided I
would spend twenty twenty three following my nose to whatever
part of the baseball world it wanted to take me.
And so I went to kids' games. I went to
college games. I went to Carrie, North Carolina for the

(32:03):
USA Complex. I went to drive line. I went to
conferences on sports analytics, one of which one of the
panels that I thought was really interesting was how to
make a fan. That it struck me as indicative of
the present and damningly so that you need to have

(32:27):
a conference to decide how to make a fan. And
you know what they decided, You got to go to
a live event with somebody you like.

Speaker 10 (32:35):
I can't wait to read this book, Jane. Everything you
do is wonderful. We all enjoyed the Sandy Kofax and
Mickey Mantle biographies, among others. And go out and get
Make Me a Commissioner by Jane Levy. Jane, thank you
so much for joining us. Can't wait to see you
in Los Angeles at a ballpark near you.

Speaker 5 (32:56):
I'll be there, babe, Thanks so much. Dave.

Speaker 10 (32:59):
There she goes Jane Levy. One of the best Make
Me a Commissioner is now available. Find it wherever you
get your books. We'll send it back to you in
the studio.

Speaker 4 (33:07):
Tim, all right, thanks a lot, David lead drop to
first pitch, Dodger fans.

Speaker 1 (33:11):
We're gonna get you your keys to the game.

Speaker 4 (33:12):
But up next we'll dive deeper into this pitching matchup.
Don't go anywhere. Dodgers and Orioles from Baltimore on this Sunday.
I'm Tim kas Is, the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers
Audio Network.

Speaker 6 (33:25):
This is Morongo Cassino, Dodgers hunts on your home for
La Dodgers Baseball.

Speaker 4 (33:33):
It's the Dodgers and the Orioles from Camden Yards in Baltimore.
First pitch coming up at ten thirty five.

Speaker 6 (33:39):
And now before the Dodgers hit the Dineck, we look
at the pitching matchup.

Speaker 4 (33:44):
Present by your Southern California and Toyota Dealers. Work hard,
play hard in a new Tacomo with an I Force
Turbo Chars engine. It's a truck built for the bold.
See your Toyota dealer today. They make it easy. Tomoyuki
Sagano on the mound for the Orioles, thirty five year
old right hander out of Japan, first year in the
Big Leagues, ten and seven, four to forty one ERA,
making his twenty seven start of his career here in
the Big League's fastball, slider, curveball, fourth ball. Last time

(34:06):
out a rough one three and thirty in seven runs,
ten hits in a loss to the Giants' first ever
time facing the Dodgers. Speaking of first, this is the
first time ever that Clayton Kershaw will face the Baltimore
Oriols in the first time ever pitching at Camden Yards.
He has now faced all twenty nine teams after today's start.
The thirty seven year old future Hall of Famer nine
and two three twenty eight r Ray. He was five

(34:27):
and ozer with the sub to Erra in the month
of August last time out his first year in September.
Five innings, four runs, four hits, four walks, three strikeouts
and a no decision against the Pirates. Dodgers need a win,
simple as that they get ready to take on the
Baltimore Oriols.

Speaker 1 (34:41):
Were fifteen minutes away for first pitch.

Speaker 4 (34:42):
Keys to the game, our next I'm Tim Kass, the
world champion Los Angeles Dodgers audio number.

Speaker 6 (34:49):
This is Marongo Casino Dodgers on dead on your home
for the Blue all season.

Speaker 1 (34:56):
Long long Dodgers Orioles.

Speaker 4 (35:00):
As the Dodgers wrap up this six game East Coast
road trip, it has been a nightmare so far. They
got swept in Pittsburgh in three games, and now they're
on the verge of getting swept by the Baltimore Orioles
after last night's almost no hitter. First pitch coming up
at ten thirty five. Before that, let's head back out
to the booth one final time. Tim Neverett, Rick Monday, Guys,
Tim thanks again.

Speaker 8 (35:19):
We count you down to the first pitch here at
Oriel Park at Camden Yards on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon.

Speaker 3 (35:25):
Last night is over. Today is a new day.

Speaker 8 (35:28):
Left handed Clayton Kershaw will take the Hillies nine and two,
his era over the course of his career now the
second best in the live ball era, just behind Hoyt
Wilhelm Cersh's lifetime era two fifty three Wilhelm two fifty
two and looking for his two hundred and twenty second
career win.

Speaker 2 (35:47):
Tim One thing that we know about Clayton Kershaw and
his fabulous career. Every time he takes the mound, he
takes the mound with a must win attitude. Well, if
you look at what he was able to do in
August five and zero, er one point eight eight was old.
And for the Dodgers, yeah, you start to look at
it must win. Well, I don't know if it's a

(36:07):
must win, but they have only a one game margin
now in front of San Diego and for Kershamp we
expect to start off this Bowl game in fine fashion today.

Speaker 8 (36:16):
And Sagano, in his twelfth year in Japan last year,
went fifteen and three with a one sixty seven era
in twenty four starts. He signed a one year deal
at age thirty five with the Orioles and he'll start
against Clayton Kershaw this afternoon. Dodgers and Orioles lineup said,
first pitch, just around the corner.

Speaker 4 (36:38):
Dodgers, Nita win, right guy, right place, right time. Clayton
Kershaw on the mound. Enjoyed on this Sunday. This has
been Wrongo Casino Dodgers on deck on the world champion
