Welcome to Dodgers on Deck. Now your host walking you
up the first pitch. Tim Kays Hi, everybody.
Speaker 7 (00:43):
And welcome to my Wrongo Casino. Dodgers on Deck. Hope
you're well on this beautiful, warm Monday night here in
Los Angeles. The weather's gonna cool off here in the
next couple of days. Let's hope the Dodgers start to
heat up. After a disappoint East Coast road trip, the
Dodgers down seventy nine and sixty four. They are first
(01:05):
place atop the NLS, one game up in the division
with nineteen to play, and they're back home tonight for
a brief three game series against the Colorado Rockies. Tyler Glass.
Now his back feels better. He is on the mountain
tonight in the series opener. First pitch from Dodger Stadium
is coming up at seven to ten. Between then and now,
we got a lot to get to here on Morongo Casino,
(01:25):
Dodgers on deck. We'll hear, of course from our Dodger
insider David Vase. We'll dive deeper into this pitching matchup
as we break down both starting pitchers. We'll hear from
the Dodger manager coming up in about twenty minutes. We
got your Dodgers magical moment. Shortly, Kirsten Watson from Sports
to at LA will stop by and in just a
few minutes.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
We will head out to the Gallpin Motors broadcast booth.
Get here from Tim Neverett and Rick Monday. Well, the
Dodgers yesterday in Baltimore needed a win.
Speaker 7 (01:53):
Playing simple, they could not go winless on the road trip.
They got swept in Pittsburgh, dropped the first two games
in Baltimore, including a game in which they were a
one hour away from a no hitter from Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Yesterday,
they gave the ball to the future Hall of Famer
Clayton at Kershaw, and he delivered pitching into the sixth
thenning five and two thirds, two runs, four hits, eight strikeouts.
(02:15):
Along the way, he got some instant offense show Hey
Otany let off the game with a solo home run
to center. Otani did it again in the third, his
second home run of the game, forty eighth on this
season as a Dodgers led two to nothing, but Mookie
Betts then got into the home run fun.
Speaker 8 (02:34):
One one the count to Bets. He swings. He hits
a drive to left field and deep. This Boss back,
it is gone. Back to back home runs Murky Betts
with his sixteenth home run of the season and his
sixteenth career home run in Baltimore.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
It is three to nothing.
Speaker 7 (02:52):
Mookie Betts goes deep with the top tier play of
the game, brought to by Arco Quality, top tier gas
for less. As the DoD were feeling top tier yesterday.
Up three to nothing. In the fourth, Miguel Rojas scored
on an aeron pickoff attempt as the Dodgers took a
four to nothing lead. Thing starting to go their way. Finally,
in the final game of this road trip. The two
(03:12):
runs that Kershaw would give up came in the sixth inning.
Those runs are credited to him and the ninth the
Dodgers up four to two. They weren't gonna let this
one get away. Not a mookie had anything to say
about it.
Speaker 8 (03:23):
That's waits for the three to one, and here it comes.
He swings and he hammers one deep to left field.
Speaker 4 (03:32):
This ball is got a home.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Run for bets. No, it's off the wall, off the
very top of the wall. In the scores. Rot Vet
oh Tani.
Speaker 8 (03:44):
Got the second, and that's the longest single you'll ever seen.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
Off the wall and left scores the runner.
Speaker 7 (03:51):
As the Dodgers tack on one more than ninth, they
go on and hang on to beat the Orioles five
to two. As the Dodgers pick up their seventy nine
fires of the season. Clayton Kershaw now ten and two
on this season. Jack Dryer came in pitched the ninth
any and picked up his save of third save on
the year.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
As the Dodgers return.
Speaker 7 (04:10):
Home now to start a three game series against the
Colorado Rockies, and they added a big bat to the roster,
Max monty Is back Bradshaw the injured list. He'll be
back in the line of tonight. Dodgers getting healthy right
the good time of the year. As we get you
ready for first pitch on this Monday, Tyler Glass now
on the mountain, the series opener, and with more, let's
head out to Dodger Stadium in the Gallpamoters broadcast booth
(04:32):
as we welcome in Tim Neverertt and Rick Monday guys.
Speaker 8 (04:36):
Tim, thank you very much. Absolutely perfect night at Dodgers Stadium.
Not a cloud to be seen anywhere. Bright blue skies.
As the Dodgers get set to take on the Colorado
Rockies in game one of a brief three game homestand
the Rockies forty and one oh three, their next loss,
will set a new franchise record in losses that they
(04:56):
set in twenty twenty three with one hundred and three.
There's seven teen and fifty one on the road, thirty
nine games behind the Dodgers in the National League Western
Division standings. Meantime, the Dodgers are in a dog fight
for the top of the standings with the Podres just
one game up to start action tonight, seventy nine and
sixty four. Their record at Dodgers Stadium forty five and
(05:17):
twenty six, and they have won eight of ten against
Colorado this season. Battle right headers tonight, Chase Dolander will
go the rookie is two and twelve, and Tyler Glasnow
will get back on the mound. He was supposed to
start on the road trip, but his back tightened up
on him. He was sent home, deemed to be okay
through a couple of days in a row, and now
(05:38):
he's going to make the start he could have made
a couple of days ago. So glass Now at one
in three, will be on the hill for the Dodgers.
As far as the Dodgers go, familiar face back in
the lineup tonight, Max Mounsey has been activated and Munsey
will hit in the cleanup spot.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
Well Tim, if this were a horse race, we'll be
hearing the words and down the stretch they go, because
you just nineteen games left left on the regular season
schedule and just ten at home. And for Monsey, it's
good to have him back. For monst the only eighty
nine games. This is number ninety, but they had missed
his bat and what it really means in the lineup
abandoned the number four spot here tonight. But the seventeen
(06:15):
home runs in the sixty four RBIs has been missed sorely,
and this Dodger ball club hopefully that victory yesterday in
Baltimore the only victory on this road trip. They went
one in five in Pittsburgh and in Baltimore, and they
came back. I don't know if the word angry is
the right word, but this is a ball club that
is not comfortable with the way they've been playing.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
Well.
Speaker 8 (06:37):
Smith is ready for anything tonight, it said Dave Roberts,
except for a start. He's going to start two or
three games in the series. So they figured they'd go
back to back have him start tomorrow and Wednesday, and
Ben Rotveitt is going to start again here tonight. Chuckie
Robinson was sent back to TRIPAA Oklahoma City. That was
the roster move today. Expecting Alex Vessie to be activated
(06:58):
tomorrow and Tommy Edmund who's en route to Los Angeles
right now, expecting to see him activated Wednesday.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
Yeah, you know you mentioned rord Van. Actually he's done
a very good job impressed into action. He's worked with
the pitches very well, including Natalie Kershaw.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
Yesterday.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
But if you look at Yamamoto in that disappointing ending
on Saturday night in Baltimore, were just one pitch away
from having the no hitter and turned around, it was
a loss on top of it. But he's also been
able to bunt some guys over, which is an added
bonus that Dodger ball club really has not used a lot.
And bunning it over and trying to get to the
(07:35):
big mats Otani and the other bat that's really coming
alive now Mookie Bets, and how delightful it is to
see him swing the lumber exceptionally well.
Speaker 8 (07:43):
He's been on base in thirteen straight games, same as
show hey Otani, Otani tying Mookie's club record for leadoff
home runs yesterday twelve home runs in a season. The
major league record is fifteen, set by Kyle Schwarber last year.
So Ohtani has Schwarber in that record in his sight.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
Yeah, we'll find out how long glass now is going
to go tonight. Two areas the Dodgers need to change
in a hurry. First of all, with runners in scoring position.
If you look at the last nine games, they're hitting
below one ninety collectively. And if you look at the
bullpen the last eight games, that's twenty two in the
third innings and they've given up seventeen runs on that
period of time. However, the good news is the last
(08:26):
couple of games the bullpen has been much much better
and more effective.
Speaker 8 (08:30):
Some home cooking is what the Dodgers could use tonight
as they start this three game set with the Colorado Rockies.
Speaker 7 (08:36):
Tim all right, thank you guys, leading you up the
first pitch as we count you down.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
Dodger fans, get that game day meal on.
Speaker 7 (08:41):
It's Shaky's Pizza Parlor or your Shaky's Pizza Chicken and
Mojo's right now at Shanky's. Dodgs com coming up here
on WRONGO because you know, Dodgers on deck, you're gonna
hear from the man behind the plane tonight, Ben Roardvett.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
You'll go one on one with David Vass.
Speaker 7 (08:55):
We'll check it with dv throughout the hour to dive
deeper into this pitchy matchup with Tom Glass now going
for the blue. But up next hero Tani Re Ryan
and we visit with Sports and at LA's Kirston Watson.
That's all coming up in this busy hour of Marongo
Casino Dodgers on deck as we lead jumped the first pitch.
Thanks for being with us. I'm Tim kas Is, the
world champion.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
Los Angeles said that Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 5 (09:19):
This is Morongo Casino Dodgers hunting a new game on
your home for La Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 7 (09:28):
It's the Dodgers and the Rockies on this Monday night.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
Tyler Glass now and.
Speaker 7 (09:33):
Chase Dolander the pitching matchup. First pitch coming up, sevent ten.
Speaker 5 (09:38):
This is the Otani rewid.
Speaker 3 (09:41):
This one swung on well, hit the center failed heading back.
Speaker 9 (09:44):
It is god a lead off home run for so
Hey Otana, his twelfth leadoff home run this year, tying
a single season Dodger record set by Mookie Betts a
couple of years ago. The Dodgers with a one nothing
le and home run number forty seven for Otani.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
Two Oh.
Speaker 8 (10:05):
Pitch that has swung on and hammered the center field.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
That's Paul heading back.
Speaker 4 (10:09):
It is gone.
Speaker 3 (10:11):
It's gone again. Showtime in Baltimore.
Speaker 8 (10:14):
For the second time today, as Otani has taken Shagano
deep twice.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
It is too nothing.
Speaker 2 (10:22):
Show Hey.
Speaker 7 (10:22):
Otani goes deep twice once in the first once in
the second once in the first inning, and then again
in the third Indy and so the Orioles decided to
walk him three more times after that, as the Dodgers
were able to pull out the win yesterday in Baltimore
finally five to two.
Speaker 5 (10:38):
This is Kirston's Corner with Kirston Watson.
Speaker 7 (10:43):
Hey, Kirsten now joins us from the stadium on this
beautiful Monday night. Brought to my Cars for Kids. Ready
to donate that old car? Of course you are call
eight seven seven Cars for.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
Kids right now. Friendly agents standing by to take your donation.
That's Cars with.
Speaker 7 (10:56):
The K to donate your car today. Some good news
for the Dgers, Karsten.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
Max Munsey is back. He sure is. You know.
Speaker 10 (11:04):
With Max Mndsey, he's been battling a bit of an
oblique streen and with this injury, the oblique is something
he dealt with last year as well and it kept
him down for about two months. So when this first happened,
he said that the team was playing in Anaheim against
the Angels and he played in the game. The next day.
He slept well, everything was fine. When he woke up,
he kind of felt like something was like sitting on him,
(11:26):
and so when he woke up, he just was like,
something is not right, tried to take some things in
the cage, felt something in his oblique. It wasn't a
different spot of his just side compared to last year,
and they do feel like they caught it early, so
how things just kind of played out from theirs. They
immediately went and had some imaging, and so when it
came back to just kind of getting ready to then
(11:47):
now return from the IL, he was like he at
least felt like he had a good idea as to
what worked from him last year. This one, of course
not as serious as last year, so he felt really
good about that. But right now it's just a matter
of kind of finishing up, checking off a few final
things on the checklist. But he feels good heading into
this game tonight, and he feels good just undertrained that
it's not something he's gonnatually have to manage moving forward.
(12:09):
But he did change a few things to his routine
because he liked to take a lot of swings in
the past, so it's just more of like his day
to day routine preparing his body for the game so
that he doesn't put too much stress on his oblique
or just in general on his body moving forward.
Speaker 7 (12:23):
Also back for the Dodgers, he was only out a
few days, getting looked at because of his sore back.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Tyler Glasstow on the Mountain night.
Speaker 10 (12:30):
Yeah, so he was supposed to pitch on Friday in Baltimore,
but he was ultimately scratched from that start. So he's
meant he was dealing with some back tightness, as you mentioned,
and he came immediately home to Los Angeles, had some imaging.
The scans came back clean. Everything looked good. So he
played catch and even Dave was saying, you know, he
just felt something kind of tighten up on him. He
(12:51):
wasn't sure if it was from just the flight from
Pittsburgh to Baltimore or maybe how he was slept the
night before. But ultimately they feel good as to where
he's at. They feel that the imaging came back clean.
It's something that they think they're gonna have to manage
moving forward. Dave Roberts did say he is gonna, of course,
just keep an eye on him through this outing, but
they do believe that this is something that hopefully is.
Speaker 5 (13:11):
Of the past.
Speaker 7 (13:12):
Now, well, let's hope the Dodgers can continue to get
guys back. Sounds like they're gonna start trickling in here
in the next couple of days, in addition to Max
Munsey and Tyler Glass now returning. That is certainly good news, Cious,
and we appreciate. We'll check in with you after the game.
Still they come here on Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck,
We'll check in with David ved Say, we'll dive deeper
to this pitching matchup up next an injury report, and
we'll hear from the manager himself. Dave Roberts will get
(13:34):
his pregame thoughts Dodgers and Rockies on this Monday night
from Dodgers Stadium, first pitch of seven to ten.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
I'm Tim Kase.
Speaker 7 (13:41):
This is the Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 5 (13:46):
This is Marongo Casino Dodgers on deap on your home
for the blue all season long.
Speaker 7 (13:55):
Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck continues on this Monday night
as we lead up to first pitch, Dodgers and the
Colorado Rockies, Morongo Casino Resort in Spa, a grand slam
for good times.
Speaker 2 (14:06):
Tyler Glass now on the mountain, is back. Good to go.
First pitch at seven ten.
Speaker 5 (14:12):
He's the LA Dodgers injury report.
Speaker 7 (14:15):
Here's in in my UCLA healthy official medical partner of
the Los Angeles Dodgers. Dalton rushing on the iel with
the right leg bone bruise. Tyler Glass now is back healthy.
He is pitching tonight. That is good news. Alex Vessi
is on his way back from Oklahoma City. Could be
activated tomorrow or Wednesday. Tommy Edmond on his way back
from Oklahoma City. He'll be activated in this series as well.
(14:35):
Mac mounsey is back, fresh off the injured list from
the right oblique injury that missed twenty plus games because
the injury, he is back and.
Speaker 2 (14:45):
Ready to go.
Speaker 7 (14:45):
Brock Stewart rookie Sasaki trying to make their way back
to the big leagues and help with How about this
Dodgers team here in September, Let's head back out.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
To Dodger State. He've been checking out with the Dodgers skipper.
Any fun questions for dam David you just described Dave.
Can you talk about the pressure in.
Speaker 5 (15:04):
The dugouts with.
Speaker 11 (15:05):
Dave Roberts, You know what, I obviously I think it's
something of the past, in the past I'm happy he
alerted us. He says he feels great, and so I'm
going to go off that and uh, you know, we'll reassess,
but we'll keep an eye on him. But I'm hopeful
that it's a regular outing for Tyler and good to
(15:26):
have him back in the rotation.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
Just what is this going to do to the group
of his.
Speaker 11 (15:31):
Return, Obviously it's a big boost. We've been waiting for
this one for a long time. Not to add any
pressure to Max, but just kind of having his presence
in the lineup, just taking a quality at bat obviously
adds length to our lineup. Another left handed hitter who
can just do some things and you know, just provide
(15:52):
some slug someone base ability to get a hit and
just again length is our lineup and really good ad.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
Were we use terms of health at catcher.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
Now health at catcher.
Speaker 11 (16:05):
So we just sent Chucky Robinson out by a way
of option, and so we have two catchers active. Will
is available for anything tonight. My hope is that he's
in the lineup tomorrow. And then yeah, Dalton is moving
around much better today, so you know, hopefully you know
(16:28):
when his time is up on the uh, you know,
the ten days he'll be available.
Speaker 5 (16:32):
What does managing you know, Will's hand kind of look
like going forward?
Speaker 12 (16:37):
Will he potentially needs some more time off?
Speaker 11 (16:41):
You know, I don't know quite yet. I think that
one thing we are doing is that he could could
have potentially played tonight started, but to give him an
extra day kind of looking at this series and saying
he's going to play two of three, So if it's
going to be a two of three, then let's get
of an extra day, and then we have an off
(17:02):
day on Thursday, so hopefully, you know, being able to
go back to back, I don't think that'll be a problem,
and then with the off day Thursday, we should be
able to kind of put this behind. This is kind
of the thought Tyler's.
Speaker 6 (17:15):
Wys with the doctor, like did they identify anything or
just sit back to any things?
Speaker 11 (17:23):
Yeah, you know what, there was nothing that of significance,
So that was a good thing. And you know, I
think we just wanted to, you know, be be safe,
and I'm sure Tyler wanted to be safe, and so
fortunately we were in the clear.
Speaker 2 (17:37):
All right, there's a manager, Dave Roberts. That is certainly
good news.
Speaker 7 (17:40):
Fires Tyler Glass now is concerned now they needed to
go out there and pitch deep into this game tonight
and be ready to go and to be able to
do that now moving into September and the post season,
will we continue here on Wrongo Causino Dodgers on Deck.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
We will check in with the David Vase.
Speaker 7 (17:55):
As we lead you up to first pitch Dodgers and
Rockies on this Monday night, first page.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
She's seven to ten.
Speaker 7 (18:00):
I'm Tim Kates is the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers
Audio Network.
Speaker 5 (18:06):
As we were saying, yes, is Marongo Casino Dodgers on
jack on the official home of LA Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 7 (18:17):
Dodgers and the Rockies on this Monday night. Tyler Glass
now back from.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
His sore back. First pitch from Dodger Stadium, coming up
to seven.
Speaker 5 (18:27):
Ten, joining Tim Kates on Dodgers on Deck. I accept
everybody for who they are.
Speaker 7 (18:33):
This is Dodger insider David Basse r DV with the
Rockies in town. They made a call up about a
month ago. Kyle Carros called up to the big leagues
and this is his first time back at the Ravine.
Speaker 4 (18:47):
Yeah, how about this.
Speaker 12 (18:48):
John Suhu, the great team photographer for the Dodgers posted
a photo of Kyle Carros and his brother Jared with
their dad throwing out the first pitch ten twelve years ago,
and now here he is getting the start at third
base for the Rockies, making his Dodger Stadium debut. Remember
he hit his first major league home run against the
(19:10):
Dodgers at Course Field a couple of weeks ago. Went
into the Rockies clubhouse before the game and talked to Kyle.
Speaker 4 (19:17):
He's really excited.
Speaker 12 (19:18):
His dad actually drove him to Dodger Stadium. I saw
Eric during Rockies batting practice and I said, hey, we
get it. You're a helicopter dad. Can you just back
off let the kid breathe a little bit. But certainly
he says it's torture watching his kids play. That's why
he kind of finds different places to sit. But an
(19:40):
exciting night for the Carros family, considering Eric Carrows hit
two hundred and seventy home runs as an LA Dodger,
the most by any player that played for the Dodgers
on the West Coast.
Speaker 2 (19:53):
David is brought to you by the twenty twenty five
four f one to fifty.
Speaker 7 (19:56):
It's time to see Ford in a new light Ford
for America from America. The Dodgers facing a guy tonight,
a young picture for this Rockies rotation. His numbers may
not look good, David, but he could give the Dodgers fifth.
Speaker 4 (20:10):
Right, Yeah, how about this.
Speaker 12 (20:12):
Freddie Freeman and Clayton Kershaw both came up to me
unsolicited and said, don't be fooled by Chase Dolander six
seventy seven era. Freddy told me he's got great stuff.
Kershaw says he has great stuff, and he told me
check out his home and road era. Well, Dolander's ERA
(20:34):
at Corsfield is nine, while on the road Dolander is winless. Yes,
but his era is three twenty four. So the Dodgers
have their hands full against Dolander. We'll see what they
can do with him and see if they can get
him out of the game early.
Speaker 7 (20:50):
All right, David, Let's kind of go through the injury updates.
What's happening with some of these guys coming back? We
know months he's the first guy back right.
Speaker 12 (20:58):
Right, And Tommy Edman is expected to be activated Wednesday
and play center field. That may give the Dodgers a
different look in the outfield. Moving forward down the stretch
here for the last couple of weeks of the regular season. Originally,
Dave Roberts said said Alex Vesia would be activated for
tonight's game. He instead will be activated tomorrow. So I
(21:21):
feel like we got caught up. If I'm missing anybody, Oh,
Will Smith. Will Smith is expected to start tomorrow night.
I watched him take batting practice today, so that was
a good sign as well.
Speaker 7 (21:32):
Show hey, Otani, we know what he can do on
the man, we know what he could do it to play,
but show hey getting a little extra work in today
doing something else.
Speaker 12 (21:42):
Not hitting, not pitching, but working at second base, getting
better jumps, getting better reads, to be a better base runner.
If there's one weakness in his game, it's his base running,
his instincts. So after yesterday's ninth inning where he probably
should have been at third base when Mookie Betts hit
(22:03):
a single, watching by the way and instead of running
out of the batter's box, Otani should have been at
third base regardless. And that's something that I think the
Dodgers have got across to him. And he's obviously aware.
He wants to be great. He is great, but the
great ones want to get whatever weakness they believe they
have in their game and shore it up. So O'tani
(22:25):
was out here early working on his base running during
batting practice.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
All right, David, great stuff. We'll check back you with
you in just a little bit.
Speaker 7 (22:31):
David's gonna go one on one with Dodger catcher Bennett
rot Vett. That's coming up in about fifteen minutes. We'll
also break down the numbers for both these pitchers tonight.
Tyler Glass now back is sore back, feeling better. He's
supposed to start on Friday in Baltimore, but he gets
to start tonight against the Rockies. Up next, we'll get
your Dodger magical moment. Don't go anywhere, we lead jump
(22:52):
to Dodgers and Rockies from the Ravine. First pitch is
seven to ten. I'm Tim Katies' is the world champion
Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 5 (23:02):
This is Morongo Casino Dodgers Hunting game on your home
for La Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 7 (23:10):
It's the Dodgers and the Rockies from the Ravine. Dodgers
back home after a one in five East Coast Road
Trim Tyler Glass now Chase Dolander. The pitching matchup first
pitch coming up at seventeen.
Speaker 8 (23:25):
Without a hot dog.
Speaker 4 (23:25):
Who wants a hot hut?
Speaker 5 (23:27):
It's time for the Hawfey Magical moment ditch Magical presented
by Hawpy hot Dogs.
Speaker 7 (23:34):
With the Dodgers taking on the Rockies, we go back
to June eighteenth, last year at Corus Field in Denver.
You know the ball flies in Denver at the mile
high Well, the Dodgers were down nine to four in
the ninth inning. You're never really down until the final out.
The Dodgers at ninth inning would come back and take
the lead, capped off by tay Oscar Hernandez, big home run.
Speaker 8 (23:56):
Ball game in the balance right here, two swing on
hitting the air to the right center fielding deep, this
ball heading back.
Speaker 2 (24:04):
This ball's gone.
Speaker 4 (24:06):
It's gone.
Speaker 6 (24:07):
It's gone. A three run.
Speaker 9 (24:10):
Home run ty Oscar Hondandas and the Dodgers.
Speaker 3 (24:13):
Have come all the way back to take the lead.
Speaker 9 (24:19):
Oh my goodness, absolutely incredible.
Speaker 3 (24:24):
It's eleven to.
Speaker 9 (24:26):
Nine as the Dodgers down to their last strike, strike
big time as Taoskar hits his eighteenth home run of
the year.
Speaker 1 (24:38):
Is there a safe lead margin in this ballpark? Evidently not.
Speaker 7 (24:44):
Taskar Hernandez they go ahead three run home run as
the Dodger scored seven runs in the ninth inning to
come back and win it eleven to nine. Taskar Hernandez
was down to his last strike when he was bailed
out by first base umpire Lance Barksdale on a check swing.
The next bitch, you heard it, They'll go ahead home
run as the Dodgers come back last year in Denver
(25:05):
beat the Rockies eleven to night. This Hofe magical moment
brought to you by Hoffey hot Dogs, Haffey Soto Cows,
local treasure for nearly one hundred years. Offy hot Dogs,
local and so great. Well we continue here on Dodgers
on Deck.
Speaker 2 (25:17):
Welk check back in with Rick Monday.
Speaker 7 (25:19):
So we walk you up to first bitch Dodgers and
the Rockies. I'm Tim kas Is, the world champion Los
Angeles Dodgers audio number.
Speaker 5 (25:27):
This is Marongo Casino Dodgers on Tap on your home
for the blue all season long.
Speaker 7 (25:37):
It's the Dodgers and the Rockies on this Monday night.
Tyler Glass Now Chase Dolander the pitching matchup. Time now
for the Verizon startup, as we're thirty five minutes away.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
From the start of the game.
Speaker 7 (25:48):
Now, Verizon, you can lock in your low price for
three years, so you can say big visit the Verizon
store today. Joining Rick Monday, Charlie Stunner.
Speaker 13 (25:57):
All right, Tim, the Dodgers are back home. Couple of
piece of good news. They're off the road and Max
Mounsey is back. Getting Monsie back mo lengthens the lineup,
and that's something the Dodgers.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
Desperately need, absolutely and from an offensive standpoint too, in
particular when there's opportunities to score runs. That's one of
the areas that has really been missing because of the inconsistency.
So for Monthsey, second time he's been on the injured list,
but comes off this afternoon. Just watching him work out
a little bit earlier too, Charlie at third base taking
(26:30):
some ground bowls. Did not see him take batting practice
on the field. But for Monsey, you know, that is
a bat that has been missing because seventeen home runs
in sixty four RBIs that's in eighty nine games, so
he has missed a considerable period of time and they
really need his bat in there.
Speaker 13 (26:47):
Not only is he in the lineup, but his mere
presence lengthens the lineup. Now, the Dodgers' offense of Lake
can only go one way, and that's up.
Speaker 1 (26:55):
Yeah, and I think you hit upon really, you nailed
it right. There is the fact that they you've got
Munsie back. There's a chance that Tommy Edmund may come
back tomorrow night, as early as tomorrow, so that's good news.
The other part too, is Will Smith's right hand where
he took that foul ball off of his hand, was
not available for a couple of games in Baltimore. He
was available to come off the bench if needed yesterday
(27:17):
to swing the bat. They did not have to use him.
So he is available to be used into nice game.
And the Dodgers need all these healthy guys back, and
they need to get healthy too in the win column
because if you look at this road trip, very disappointing
the games against the Pirates, and then he had the
three games against Baltimore and you go one and six
on the road trip against those two ball clubs. Nothing
(27:39):
disparagingly moved towards those two clubs. But those are teams
that they have not had good records.
Speaker 13 (27:45):
There are nineteen games left in the regular season. As
the Dodgers begin the three game series with the Rockies.
Two and eight are the Rockies against the Dodgers, who've
dominated them. And the good news is I have nothing
to do with Cory's field or crazy things happen, and
where the Dodgers, of course have great home field advantage
at Dodgers Stadium and their game over the padres a
(28:07):
one game lead Cincinnati down in San Diego tonight.
Speaker 1 (28:11):
Yeah. As far as crazy games, the Dodgers saw plenty
of those on this recent road trip, including obviously what
could have been a no hitter with one out needed
in the ninth inning and all of a sudden, not
only was it not a no hitter, it was a loss,
and that was a huge loss because Joshinobu Yamamoto pits
an absolutely brilliant ballgame and one of those things every
(28:33):
time he come to the ballpark. How many times we
talked about this, you may see something you've never seen before.
Hopefully the Dodgers never see that again, because it was
It was a heck of a ballgame, but with one
swing of the bat, all of a sudden, the Dodger's
fortune changed, and with a couple of swings of the bat,
Hopefully the Dodgers' portions are going to be changing now.
As you mentioned, with just nineteen games left in the
(28:54):
regular season.
Speaker 13 (28:55):
Winning the getaway today game was so important for the
Dodgers above and beyond the numbers. Who is just a
matter of starting to feel good and oh what a
performance for the Dodgers who finally got out of town
and came back home first. Clayton Kershaw, He's always in
the middle of good stuff. So to his show, Hey,
O Tani and Mookie Betts. Betts has been hot the
last thirty games.
Speaker 1 (29:15):
Yeah, we're seeing a lot better swings from Mookie Benz.
Actually a lot better swings some of a couple other
guys in the lineup two. Maybe the averages do not
reflect that, But for Mookie Benson, I'm a home run,
but an RBI single coming in the ninth inning. For Otani,
he is one of those guys when he steps on
the field, you just don't even want to blink because
you might miss something. And the way that he's hit
(29:36):
the ball, including velocity off the bat, even if you're
watching it, you might not see all of it because
he's just been amazing. Hopefully that's going to be a
turning around the Dodgers very quickly too, Charlie.
Speaker 6 (29:48):
The area.
Speaker 1 (29:48):
From an offensive standpoint, they have to improve upon. The
last nine games with runners in scoring position, the Dodgers
have allowed a three to ZHO nine average against with
the other team, But the Dodgers in those spots have
hit below one ninety. That's got to change, and change
in a hurry.
Speaker 13 (30:03):
Oh Tani, by the way, don't look now. Is second
in the nation of the league behind Schwarmer, and there's
going to be a race not only for the MVP,
but clearly for the home run title. Tonight is the
first of three, the Dodgers and the Colorado Rockies. The
Rockies are forty and one hundred and three, Dodgers seventy
nine and sixty four, a one game lead on the padres.
(30:26):
We're hosting Cincinnati tonight.
Speaker 7 (30:28):
Tim all right, thank you, Charlie. Great to hear your voice.

it's group night at Shaky's dot Com d And now what.
Speaker 5 (31:37):
Will likely be vast fielding insults from a Dodger.
Speaker 2 (31:41):
Player, It's an engagement of endearment.
Speaker 5 (31:43):
This is high and tight.
Speaker 4 (31:45):
All right.
Speaker 12 (31:46):
The Dodgers are back home and we're joining right now
by tonight's starting catcher Ben Rortvedt, who has had a
whirlwind of the last five days. Ben, thanks a lot
for the time and welcome the Dodgers Stadium.
Speaker 6 (31:58):
Absolutely, and it's gorgeous here. I'm glad to be here.
Speaker 4 (32:01):
Feels like it's more real when you're back at Dodger Stadium.
Speaker 6 (32:03):
Right, Yeah, yeah, everything feels real. But uh, coming here
is definitely pretty cool seeing the clubhouse, get in to
see all like the staff. That doesn't make the road trippers,
it makes everything real.
Speaker 12 (32:14):
Some catchers can never say that they have done what
you have done in the.
Speaker 4 (32:18):
Last three games.
Speaker 12 (32:20):
You caught Clayton Kershaw yesterday, future Hall of Famer, and
you almost caught a no hitter by Yamamoto. You caught
eight and two thirds of no hit ball. Has that
sunk in for you?
Speaker 6 (32:31):
Yeah, yeah, it's definitely sunk in. I that was a
tough loss. I definitely lost some sleep that night, but
definitely had to turn around pretty quick with Clayton on
the next day. But I think everything's happened so fast
that I haven't really had time to really think about much.
Sus I think helped me a little bit, But yeah, no,
definitely setting in.
Speaker 4 (32:49):
What was that like yesterday? Catching Kershaw?
Speaker 6 (32:52):
Super cool? I have super cool, definitely look forward to it.
Had some uh, honestly, some nerves before the game, a
little more than usual. They're good nerves, but I just
wanted to make sure I was doing doing everything I
could to help him through the start.
Speaker 12 (33:04):
So we always see you guys in the battery, you
behind the plate. But what was the pregame preparation meeting
like with Kershaw?
Speaker 6 (33:13):
Really simple, actually, kind of just talked about how he
likes to pitch. It kind of just went from there, honestly,
more that than going into the hitters and just kind
of trying to get on the same pages them as
quick as possible. Pretty simple and kind of the expectation
was set. Yeah, it was kind of brief. Honestly.
Speaker 12 (33:33):
I've heard other catchers that are catching him or being
around him for the first time, they say they learned
so much about pitching catching that picture catcher relationship. How
much was yesterday just another level of your experience? I mean, yeah,
it was don't ever listen to Danny Lehman Ben first rule.
(33:53):
It was really cool just getting the experience of prepping
with him, seeing how simple it is but also.
Speaker 6 (34:00):
Help the layers of it. I'm not going to go
into it all of it, but just throughout the game.
Just the simplicity of what he does, the consistency of
his pitch palette and where he wants to do kind
of setting hitters up. It's definitely, definitely pretty cool.
Speaker 4 (34:14):
I'm sure you watched him on TV.
Speaker 12 (34:16):
You've seen the curveball on TV, You've seen the slider
on TV. What was it like to be catching those pitches?
Speaker 6 (34:22):
It's cool. It was really cool at a front row seat.
Something I'll remember for a long time.
Speaker 4 (34:26):
Ben Rourtfitt is our guest. Ben.
Speaker 12 (34:29):
You got acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays, but your
roots are with the Yankees, and the Yankees have a
great reputation of developing great catchers like yourself. What is
it about that organization that helps catchers be as good
as you?
Speaker 6 (34:42):
Yeah? Actually, I was drifted by the Twins, so drifted
by the Twins and was there for five six years
before he got traded to the Yankees. The catching coordinator
there is Tayner Swanson, who I met really early on,
and it's someone that I'd later met up with in
New York. Dat's do a really good job and the
finer things. They're really detailed in their work, they're really
(35:03):
intentful in their work, and it goes a long way.
Speaker 12 (35:06):
What is the biggest difference in catching, say today, then
even when you first got drafted.
Speaker 6 (35:14):
You can really complicate it now catching and the fine nuances.
But I think the more simple you make it, the
easier it is. I think some people can overcomplicate it.
But kind of dumbing things down to catching baseball the
right way, doing what you kind of get a pitching
and strike someone goes a long way. So at the
same time that there's a lot of like little details
(35:35):
to it, I think the simplicity of stuff still is
still outweighs soll.
Speaker 12 (35:39):
It's funny you said that because Clayton Kersha said after
his last start that you can make baseball as complicated
as you want, or you can make it as simple
as you want.
Speaker 6 (35:49):
Yeah, No, it's definitely. I've definitely felt that way in
my career too. Kind of coming back to what makes
you get to the point you are kind of it
might take people long. I'm gonna realize what kind of
baseball player you are? Never in the wrong way trying
to be a better baseball player and learn that way.
But sometimes coming back to your roots and kind of
honing in that is the is the perfect match for people.
Speaker 12 (36:10):
So hey, Ben, thanks a lot for the time. Great
to meet you in person. It's been a whirlwind, but
you've handled it great and we can't wait to see
behind the plate in your first game as a Dodger
at Dodger Stadium.
Speaker 6 (36:21):
Thank you so much. I appreciate it.
Speaker 12 (36:22):
There he goes Tim the man, Ben Roartfitt. I'll hook

Chase Dolander on the Mountain two and twelve with a
six seventy seven e er Ray, the twenty three year
old right hander ninth overall pick by the Rockies in
twenty twenty three out of Tennessee, making his twenty first
start this season last time out, five inning, six runs,
five hits, and a loss of the Giants. Making his
six starts since returning to the Rockies rotation on August eleventh,
he's gone zero to three with a seven to three
(37:50):
r Ray and fourteen walks during that stretch. Now he's
received just twenty five total runs of support in his
previous twenty starts. That's two point four four runs of
support per game, the lowest in the major leagues.
Speaker 2 (38:04):
Right now, he.
Speaker 7 (38:05):
Has posted a three to sixty four ERA and nine
road starts that's way better than an ERA near ten
and eleven starts to course Field. So much better on
the road than he is at home against the Dodgers.
Two starts at cours Field, oh and two with a
nine to sixty four ERA. Tyler Glass now on the
Mountain one and three three forty one ERA. The thirty
two year old right hander was scratched from his last
(38:26):
expected start on Friday against the Oriels due to back tightness.
He's facing the Rockies tonight for his fifteenth start of
the season. His lone win came way back on March
thirty first, in his first start of the season last
time out, seven innings, three runs, four hits, six strikeouts
on the loss of the Diamondbacks. He has faced the
Rockies just once in his career, two innings of relief,
(38:46):
back in twenty eighteen as a member of the Pirates.
It's Tyler Glass now Chase Dolander, Dodgers, Rockies.
Speaker 2 (38:54):
We're fifteen minutes away for first pitch Keys to the game.

(39:36):
ca A dot gov. All right, back out to the
booth one final time before first pitch. Tim Nevertrick, Monday.
Speaker 8 (39:41):
Guys, Tim, thanks again. The pitching matchup tonight. Chase Dolander,
the rookie for the Rockies, going against veteran right hander
Tyler glasnow glassnow one in three. That one was against
the Atlanta Braves in late March. He has not won
a decision since the end of March. In the meantime,
(40:02):
Dolander is two and twelve. He's owen six on the
road this year. He's on in seven since June eighth.
Is thera six seventy seven overall, but since June eighth
it's up over seven.
Speaker 3 (40:13):
He has had a rough time in his rookie season.
Speaker 1 (40:15):
Yeah, he has, There's no question about it. For glassdown
don't know how long he'd be going. The bullpen, I
would imagine is on alert to try and figure out
what's going to happen Glass now when he has been
in there, and this is only his fifteenth start this year,
but his numbers are very very low. Batting average against
just one eighty one. Lefties have hit just one ninety
right handers have hit just won seventy two. But not
(40:37):
a long period of time pitching in ballgames. And for Dolander,
he's faced the Dodgers two different times, the last time
on August twenty first, where he went just three and
two thirds innings. He gave up nine hits, seven runs,
and through ninety seven pitches in those three and two
thirds innings that I just were very selective against him
(40:58):
in that game.
Speaker 8 (40:58):
Rockies have given up more run than anybody by a
long way in Major League Baseball. Dodgers need to put
some on the board tonight. Dodgers and Rockies, Game one
of a three game set coming up.
Speaker 7 (41:08):
Tim all right, Dodgers eight and two against the Rockies
in their first ten Hemdians head to head final three
beginning tonight. Dodgers one game up in the standings over
the Padres with nineteen to play. Padres taking on the
Reds in Cincinnati or in San Diego. Right now, top
half of the second inning. Already Red's leaded one to
nothing over the Padres, so we'll keep an eye on
(41:29):
that game again. Dodgers one game up with nineteen to play.
Every game important.
Speaker 2 (41:34):
Right now down the.
Speaker 7 (41:35):
Stretch, Tyler Glass now on the mound for the blue
is there? Back home to start a three game set
against the Rockies. First pitch is next?
Speaker 2 (41:42):
This has been.
