five postseason, a game one win over the Reds in
the Wildcard Round last night. Tonight, the Dodgers look to
finish off the Cincinnati Reds with Yoshinobu Yamamotos set to go.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
For the blue first.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
Betchum Dodger Stadium is coming up at six oh eight.
Between then and now, we got a lot to get
to here on Morogo Casino Dodgers on deck, including hearing
from Tommy Edmund. DV will go one on one with
Tommy coming up in forty five minutes. We'll hear from
the manager, Dave Roberts his pregame thoughts with the media.
That's coming up in about twenty minutes. We got your
Dodgers magical moment. Shortly we'll visit with Kirsten Watson, you
(01:34):
can see on Sports Net LA doing pre and post
during the postseason.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
And in just a few minutes.
Speaker 4 (01:39):
We head over to the Gallpin Motors broadcast booth with
Steven Nelson and a Rake Monday.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Well, last night the Dodgers were on the hunt.
Speaker 4 (01:47):
They were on the prowl offensively, and they got after
Hunter Greed, the right hander at a Notre Dame High School,
had a tough go last night. The first batter he
faced in the bottom of the first show, Hey Tony,
a home run to right and just like that, the
Dodgers had a one nothing lead, but they were just
getting started. In the third, they really got it going
(02:09):
thanks to ta Oscar first.
Speaker 5 (02:12):
Base open, Tommy Edmond on deck one nothing Dodgers bottom three.
Can they add to it the one on Hernandez torches
up all wet.
Speaker 6 (02:20):
Field wake on a no doubt laser to left from
Tioscar Hernandez.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Three more on the board for the Dodgers.
Speaker 4 (02:36):
Three run home run for ti Oscar Hernandez. That one
a laser to left field. Dodgers a four nothing lead
Tommy Edmond.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Then a solo home.
Speaker 4 (02:43):
Run right after that they make it a five nothing
Dodgers lead to Oscar Hernandez. Then in the fifth is
solo shot to right center field as he goes opposite
field for his second home run of the night.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
Dodgers a six nothing lead.
Speaker 4 (02:58):
Then in the sixth runner on for show, Hey Hotani,
who hit a ball that still hasn't landed.
Speaker 5 (03:04):
Lait Snell, He's been doing the rest. On a one
to one, Otani hits a towering ball deep brightfield.
Speaker 6 (03:13):
He flips the bad bad, watches it fly three quarters
of the way up the pavilion. Just a memouth blast
for his second home run and the Dodgers are.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
Pouring it on.
Speaker 4 (03:26):
In Game one, show Hey Ozani four hundred and fifty
four feet the longest home run hit this year by
a Dodger. He absolutely crushed it for a two run
home run. Dodgers and ain't nothing lead more. Meanwhile, Blake
Snell would go seven innings, strikeout nine, allowed just two
(03:47):
runs on four hits. Along the way, snell Zilla was
fun to fantastic. He only runs he gave up were
two in the seventh. Meanwhile, the Dodgers tacked on two
in the bottom of the seventh and get those runs
back they had attend to lead going to the eighth.
The Dodgers bullpen took over and oh boy, it was
a rough go in the eighth inning as the Cincinnati
Reds showed a little bit of life with three runs
(04:08):
there in the top half of the eighth inning. The
Dodgers of the ninth would send Blake trying it out
to close it out, struck out a pair of batters.
Dodgers get the win ten to five, and that is
the top tier play of the game, brought to by
Arco Quality, top tier gas for less. As the Dodgers
really put the gas to the Cincinnati Reds last night
with the game one win, Blake Snell gets the victory,
(04:28):
and tonight the Dodgers looked to close out the Reds
in this Wild Card round. In this best of three series,
Yoshinobu Yamamoto goes for the blue first pitch of six
o eight and with more let's head over to the
Gallpin Motors broadcast booth as I can see him now,
Stephen Nelson and Rick Monday.
Speaker 5 (04:44):
Guys, All right, Tim, It's another beautiful evening here at
Dodgers Stadium as the Dodgers prepare for Game two of
the Wildcard Series against Cincinnati Reds and Rick Monday, they
need one more win to punch through and book a
trip to Philadelphia. You don't want to get too far
ahead of your but game one is the all important game.
You know, since the institution of this Wildcard Series in
(05:05):
twenty twenty two, the winner of Game one has gone
on to win the series every single time.
Speaker 7 (05:10):
Steve, and what we've talked about last night still applies.
He gets magnified even more because this is a two
out of three, and you blink a couple of different times,
you're done, you're home, and you're watching everybody else play.
So if we look at last night, first of all,
a terrific outing by Blake Snow set the story. He
went one, two three in that very first inning, struck
(05:30):
out the very first bat at the faced to the
ball game, and then four pitches into the bottom of
the first you get a home run, the first of
two by Otani. Dodgers and all hit five out of
the ballpark. A pair by Tiaskar, Hernanders and Tommy Edmond
also left the yard. So from an offensive standpoint, it
worked out really well. And this is a Dodger ball
club that I think, too, is very focused, because I
(05:52):
go back to what Dave Roberts said the night that
they clenched the Western Division championship. He goes, look, this
is step one. There's some other steps that have to
be garnered right, and this is going to be step
two tonight. If they can nail it down and then
look on it doesn't matter where they're gonna go to
the next round. They have to get to the next round.
Speaker 5 (06:10):
And that focus was lacking at different stretches during the
regular season. Keyk Hernandez admitted as much in his pregame
media session before Game two tonight, saying that there are
times where they were kind of checked out as a team.
September included in that. But in the postseason, you're right
Game one anyway, especially on the offensive side, they proved
that focus and I really thought show, Hey, old Tony's
(06:31):
leadoff home run on the heels of a zero from
Blake Snell with such a tone setting first inning for
this team, and he was basically telling the rest of
the guys, hey, exhale, play your ball, follow me, I'm
the leader, and they go get Game one. So now
game two, the toughest win is the final one, the
close out win in a series.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
And even though they have.
Speaker 5 (06:50):
The edge and the starting pitching matchup, Azach Lyttel has
had a good year this year.
Speaker 7 (06:53):
Yeah, he has, and he cannot expect another five home
run performance by the ball club. Then you know it
runs normally in postseason play or at a premium, it's
not that often that you're going to come up and
score ten runs as the Dodgers did last night. So
you have to thank small Ball initially going into it.
They have all the facts and all the numbers announced
the application of that, and I thought one of the
(07:15):
big differences from an offensive standpoint last night, I thought
the Dodgers were very disciplined in their advats and not
so much for the Reds in particular, with just an
outstanding changeup that Snell was throwing last night, the Reds
expanded the strike zone. The Dodgers demanded the pitches b
in the strike zone.
Speaker 5 (07:34):
Zach Lyttel, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and I know that there's a
fear Tim Kats among some Dodger fans after seeing ten
runs last night. Almamoto didn't get a lot of runs
supporting the regular season. Oh, did they save any for tonight?
Speaker 3 (07:47):
Relax?
Speaker 5 (07:47):
We will find out in a couple of hours. We'll
dive into some keys when we visit with mo again.
Speaker 4 (07:51):
All right, Yeah, hopefully the Dodgers saved some of that
offense for tonight. And Yamamoto, as we tell you down
to first pitch, Dodger fans get that game day meal long.
What are you doing for dinner? How about Shaky's Pizza Parlor.
You can order that Shaky's Pizza, Chicken and Mojo's right
now at Shaky's dot Com. Coming up here on Marongo
Causino Dodgers on DAK you are gonna hear from Dodger
manager Dave Roberts. We will check in with David Veasse
(08:14):
throughout the hour we take deeper into this pitching matchup,
but up next, Kirsten Watson from Sports net LA stops by.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
You can check her out free and posts on TV.
Speaker 4 (08:23):
As we lead you up to Dodgers and Reds Game
two of the National League Wildcard Series. First pitch of six,
so wait, thanks for being with us. I'm Tim kaks Is,
the world.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
Champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
This is Morongo Cassino Dodgers Hunt.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
On your home for La Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 4 (08:46):
It's the Dodgers and the Reds Game two the National
League Wild Cards Series. Yoshinobu Yamamoto Zach would tell the
bitchy matchup, Dodgers win and they move on to the Nlds.
The gotta take care of business tonight, first bitch coming
up at six eight.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
This is Kirston's Corner with Kirston Watson and.
Speaker 4 (09:08):
Kirston now joins us here at Dodgers Dadia brought to
you buy Cars for Kids. Ready to donate that old car?
Call eat something seven Cars for Kids right now. Friendly
agents are standing by to take your donation. That's cars
with the Gay to donate your car today. Last night
Blake Snell seven innings, nine strikeouts. He was fantastic tonight.
Yoshinobu Yabamodo who's been great all season long.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
On the Mountain Game two.
Speaker 8 (09:30):
You know, he has truly been the ace of this
team this year, was able to take down thirty starts
when you look at how he even in his final
outing of the regular season, had got his two hundredth
strikeouts of the regular season. So he is somebody comes
into this one feeling really good and then you have
a different layer of confidence that he's experiencing. Obviously last
year when he was in the postseason, he was talking
(09:52):
with I guess someone from the media from the Japanese side,
and he was sharing with them that in Game five
of the NLDS last year when he had that start
against the Padres, he had some nerves in there. And
so for him to now come into this one, he's like,
it just feels like a different a totally different experience.
He's got the confidence from the experience of last year,
the confidence of just the season that he's had. He's
(10:13):
not coming off of an injury or anything. So for him,
he comes into this one just with a different mindset,
a different preparation, and he feels really good. So the
hope is similar to what we saw last night with
Blake Snell being able to get their seven innings of work.
Even Dave Roberts said this afternoon, you know, he is
looking at this as this is Yoshi's game. So the
hope is he can be efficient. The hope is that
(10:34):
he can get deep. Obviously we saw some of just
kind of the bullpen struggles last night. Obviously they're hoping
for them to get back on track. There are different
options to come out of the bullpen tonight. Tyler blastnow
is available and that Shean is available this evening. So
Dave did say, you know, it's Yoshi's game. He's gonna
follow whatever the need is after him. But hopefully Yoshi
can really be that guy and do what he does
(10:56):
really well in postseason games.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
Oh, winning, they close out this best of three, but
no Tommy Edmen in last night.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
Kei ky Hernandez a little stiffness in that bag.
Speaker 8 (11:04):
Yeah, So for Key K, he came out of the
game early. He said that there's something he just kind
of felt, and even it took Thomas Albert, the team's trainer,
to kind of convince him after a couple of innings, like,
you know, it's a big lead. It was an eight
run game at one point, and you know, just you're
more important come October. Give it a little breather. But
he did say that he's not concerned when it comes
to that back. He's obviously in the lineup today playing
(11:27):
in left field. If they were to force a game three,
they would expect him to be in left field again tomorrow.
So he he's someone who shows up in the big moments,
who's able to get some big swings yesterday, so hopefully
he can just kind of continue with that. But like
you mentioned, there's Tommy Edmond as well, who's been battling
that ankle injury. He's not in the lineup today. Dave
Roberts was saying that, you know, the decision today was
more with that ankle. He obviously came out a little
(11:49):
bit early from the game yesterday. He had a big
swing with that home run, and he's felt that luckily
the ankle hasn't impacted him offensively. His swing has been
feeling really good. How he posed out the regular season
with limited at back, he still has been able to
kind of stay in a good spot. So if there
is a game three with that situation, he would be
back in the game tomorrow. But it's more of kind
of How can they give him as much time as
(12:11):
possible to recover in this series so that if they
can make themselves in a position to be in the NLDS,
They've putting themselves in a good spot and they can
keep some of these guys healthy.
Speaker 2 (12:19):
Are you ready for Philadelphia?
Speaker 8 (12:21):
I am. They would be lovely, lovely, lovely lovely for
them to wrap this up tonight and we could have
a smooth sale into Philadelphia.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
Well, I hope that's the case.
Speaker 3 (12:31):
Either way.
Speaker 4 (12:31):
We'll hear from you after the game. Thank you, curious
still to come here? I'm Wrongo because you know, Dodgers
on Deck. We'll dive deeper into this pitching match up.
David Vastego's one on one with Tommy Evan.
Speaker 3 (12:39):
But I'm nice.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
We'll hear from the manager, Dave Roberts his pre game
thoughts with the media. It's the Dodgers and Reds Game
two of the Wildcard Series from Dodgers Stadium.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
First pitch of six. So wait, I'm Tim Kates.
Speaker 4 (12:49):
Is the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers audio nowhere?
Speaker 1 (12:55):
This is Marongo Casino Dodgers on deck on your home
for the Blue All Season Law.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
Law Bronco Casino, Dodgers on Deck continues lean you up
to first pitch, Dodgers and Reds, Game two of the
National League Wild Card Series, Moronco Casino Resort and spat
a Grand Slam for good Times. Yoshinomu Yamamoto on the mountain,
first pitch, coming up at six o eight.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
The questions for Dave Dave?
Speaker 3 (13:26):
Can you just describe Dave? Can you talk about the pressure.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
In the dugouts?
Speaker 9 (13:31):
With Dave Roberts, I think what I learned is, uh,
you know, he prepares very well, very uh intentional with
his preparation. I learned that the moment isn't too big
for him any moment. I learned that, you know, he
(13:55):
has the ability to make pitches when he needs to.
He always seems like the best option. And yeah, I
think that if you're talking about a player from last
year to this year, I'd probably say he's number one
on the growth chart, considering, you know, coming over here
(14:17):
and trying to get his feet wet, trying to learn
the culture of the game, the hitters, you know, create
a routine for himself to then you know, be a
really big game pitcher.
Speaker 2 (14:29):
A scene near the back Bill.
Speaker 7 (14:31):
Yeah, Dave, what did the eighth inning do as far
as making you rethink your bullpen?
Speaker 9 (14:38):
You know, I just yeah, you know, looking back at it,
I think that Alex is a guy I'm always gonna trust.
I think that he's earned that and just wasn't particularly
particularly sharp last night. I just think that it was
one of the few times that we've seen Edgardo lose
(15:00):
demanded and the game sped up, in my opinion, And
I think Jack, you know, coming into that spot right there,
it was a tough spot, but I like the way
he kind of settled in and continued to make pitches
against Stevenson to then ultimately punch him and gets to
(15:20):
pop up from Cabrian. So you know, I thought it
was a good lesson for them, more so for Enriquez
and Jack. But yeah, I mean I still you know, evaluating,
and you know, we we we learned from from things.
(15:40):
So I'm kind of there. I'm not really you know,
saying much, but you know, you learn a lot from
from that inning.
Speaker 3 (15:49):
All right.
Speaker 4 (15:49):
There's a manager, Dave Roberts, talking with the media just
a little while ago here at Dodger Stadium as we
get ready for Game two of this wild Card series
coming up, we will head back in Chicken with Rick Monday.
Were gonna hear from Tommy Edmund coming up in about
twenty five minutes.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
We got your magical moments still to come.
Speaker 4 (16:05):
But up next we check in with the David bad says,
we lead you up to first pitch from Dodgers Stadium.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
I'm Tim Kates's World champion Los Angeles Dodgers audio nowhere.
Speaker 1 (16:19):
As we were saying, this is Marongo Casino Dodgers on
deck on the official home of La Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 4 (16:30):
It's the Dodgers and Rents Game two the National League
Wild Card Series.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
Dodgers a one.
Speaker 4 (16:35):
Nothing series lead, win tonights and they advanced to the
NLDS with the Phillies. Await first pitch coming up at
six oh eight.
Speaker 1 (16:44):
Joining Tim Kates on Dodgers on Deck.
Speaker 10 (16:46):
I accept everybody for who they are.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
This is Dodger insider David Bass.
Speaker 4 (16:52):
All right, Davey, you've been around this team all last night,
all today, so you got a pretty good beat on
what they're doing and how they're feeling.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
How is this team feeling into Game two tonight?
Speaker 11 (17:02):
Well, I've talked to a few players since about eleven
am this morning, Tim, and they're very focused about winning tonight.
They're not taking the reds lightly, but their intent on
ending this series tonight and lining things up as close
as perfect as they can to go into Philadelphia for
Game one of the NLDS on Saturday night. Here's Key
(17:25):
k Hernandez before the game in the press conference room.
Speaker 12 (17:28):
I can only answer for myself, but you know, we
they have a very young, hungry, talented team on the
other side, and you know, we gotta we gotta get
we gotta get on top early and and we gotta
keep adding on to the lead. I feel like last night,
maybe they feel like they even though they lost, they
might have they might feel like they regain the momentum
(17:49):
by scoring a couple of runs at the end of
the game.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
But I mean, you know, we we just gotta we.
Speaker 12 (17:55):
Just got to go on the attack early and you know,
let Yoshi do his thing on the mound and hopefully
we can and you know, put some runs on the
board for him, and hopefully we can you know, close
this thing out tonight because a lot of us could
use the extra day off.
Speaker 11 (18:10):
Yeah, and that's interesting that Keik Hernandez said to score
early for Yamamoto, because Yama Moto this season is the
victim of the fewest amount of run support in Major
League Baseball by any starting pitcher. And similar to last night,
the Dodgers had that mindset, Tim, where we're gonna score early,
we're gonna score often, and we're not gonna let our
(18:32):
foot off the gas.
Speaker 4 (18:34):
David has brought to you by Ford. It's time to
see Ford in a new light. Yoshi Abu Yamamoto gets
to start tonight, David, what's the plan after.
Speaker 2 (18:42):
Him when he exites this game? Whenever they met me,
be well, it.
Speaker 11 (18:46):
Looks pretty clear to me, Tim, if you look at
if the Dodgers have the lead and yama Moto goes six.
Speaker 10 (18:53):
Or even seven innings.
Speaker 11 (18:55):
Dave Roberts has Tyler glass Now in his bullpen, and
glass Now is not going to pitch again until at
the earliest Game three of the NLDS next week. So
he just pitched three innings in Seattle this past weekend,
so he is fresh.
Speaker 10 (19:10):
This would be a little bit more than a throw day.
Speaker 11 (19:13):
But Dave Roberts told me yesterday that when he spoke
to glass Now there was no hesitation about whatever is needed,
he will be ready for, including pitching out of the
bullpen now Tomorrow, the Dodgers are hoping not to play
a game, and that would line up Otani for Game
one of the NLDS in Philadelphia. But Emmit Sheen and
(19:34):
Tyler Glass now to me, along with Roki Sasaki, are
the three pitchers that are at the top of the
list to come out of that bullpen after Yamamoto is done.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
Dave, what's the update on Will Smith?
Speaker 4 (19:47):
I haven't seen him yet in this series, only been
one game, but he's on the active roster.
Speaker 2 (19:51):
What's the latest one.
Speaker 11 (19:52):
Well, that was the residual of another good thing that
happened in the win last night.
Speaker 10 (19:58):
With the Dodgers in control.
Speaker 11 (20:00):
They never had to pull the trigger on having Will
Smith pinch hit.
Speaker 10 (20:04):
Never even got close. So that's a good thing.
Speaker 11 (20:07):
And he is available off the bench tonight to pinch hit.
But if Dave Roberts can stay away from him again,
all of a sudden, now we're talking about a real
possibility that Will Smith is behind the plate for Game
one of the NLDS. And I know Ben Roardfitt has
done an admirable job behind the plate, but I believe
(20:29):
we start to see some of the awards after the
great starting pitchers come out of the game with a
catcher that is not really familiar with the bullpen and
the relievers, and that has shown a few different times.
But certainly Will Smith is needed and I don't think
we can overstate that.
Speaker 2 (20:49):
No doubt about it. Great stuff, Dave.
Speaker 4 (20:50):
We'll check back in with you in just a couple
of minutes. Still to come here on Wrongo because you
know Dodgers on deck, you're gonna hear from Tommy Evan
that's coming up in about fifteen minutes. We'll dive deeper
into this Game two pitching match up. But up next
your Dodgers magical moment. Don't go anywhere. We're leading up
to Dodgers and Reds Game two the National League Wildcard Series.
Speaker 2 (21:08):

solo home run that tied.
Speaker 2 (22:23):

Speaker 4 (22:24):
Go all the way to the bottom of the ninth inning,
a runner on for c t three.
Speaker 10 (22:32):
Raise on two and one, Taylor fip.
Speaker 13 (22:36):
All the left indeep and Chris Taylor oh walk up
home run. The Cadres are walking off to San Francisco.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
They win the wild card three to one. Here comes
Taylor to the plate.
Speaker 5 (22:55):
They are bobbing him.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
The crowd is going crazy.
Speaker 13 (23:00):
Dodgers ad fence to the National League Division Series with
one the mighty swing by Chris Taylor.
Speaker 4 (23:10):
Chris Taylor with the walk off to run home run
to beat the Saint Louis Cardinals in the one game
wild card matchup at Dodgers Stadium back in twenty twenty one.
That would send the Dodgers to the NLDS, where they
would take care of the San Francisco Giants in five games. Unfortunately,
the Dodgers road to a championship would end in the
(23:30):
NLCS to the eventual World Series champions in twenty twenty one,
the Atlanta Braves. This Hoffey Magical moment brought to you

Speaker 1 (24:41):
And now joined by David Masse. Here's La Dodgers broadcaster
and World Series champion Dodger Rick Monday.
Speaker 3 (24:50):
Rick.
Speaker 11 (24:50):
The Dodgers have an opportunity to advance to the NLDS tonight,
and it feels like they have a very good chance
after what we saw last night.
Speaker 7 (24:59):
Well it was it' rushing to hit the offense come through.
And what a statement that was made by Blake Snell
in last night's ball game. I mean seven absolutely superb innings,
two runs, just the four hits and for Snell, really
I think set the stage. Unfortunately not the case with
the bullpend That is a concern, no question about it.
In particular in that eighth inning where it took three
(25:20):
different relievers fifty nine pitches to record three outs. Well,
that's got to change. I believe it will change on
top of that. But for the Dodgers, they have a
long road ahead of them. Game number one has been captured. Well,
they need that second game this short series. It's two
out of three and the Dodgers have to win thirteen
in order to repeat as defending world champions. Do it again.
(25:42):
But I thought the offense last night, Yes, the five
home runs two by show Heyo, Tony, two by Tioscar Hernandez.
Tommy Edmond also hit a home run. You look at
another home run that was hit in that ballgame. But
if you're looking at the Dodgers on what they're able
to do from an office as standpoint, I thought that
was a very good beginning and taking advantage of a
(26:04):
good starting rotation. The gun that they hit against Hunter
Green is one of the elite young pitchers in Major
League Baseball. They handled it very well. It never hurts.
By the way that when you have four pitches into
the game at the bottom of first Otani hits the
home run.
Speaker 3 (26:19):
Pretty good to have a run early.
Speaker 11 (26:21):
When you're at home like that, Rick Blake Snell sets
the Reds down in order with seven pitches and then
o'tani gives you a lead off home run. How much
do you think that played into the rest of the game.
Speaker 3 (26:33):
I think it played really big.
Speaker 7 (26:34):
Not only seven pitches in the first inning by Snell,
he went through the first two innings having only sixteen
pitches that he was able to throw. The change up
last night by Blake Snell was one of the best
changeups that I think that I've seen thrown by anyone
consistently all year long on any team. It expanded the
strike zone and the Reds were not laying off as
(26:57):
some of those change ups. But the change up, my mind,
was set up perfectly by the good location of the
fast bow on top of it.
Speaker 3 (27:04):
Rick.
Speaker 11 (27:05):
It feels like not a lot of people are talking
about the fact that the Dodgers had been doing pretty
well against some pretty good pitchers. They beat Logan Webb
and Robbie Ray twice the last couple of weeks of
the season, and they just are coming off sweeping the
Mariners in Seattle.
Speaker 7 (27:21):
I think there's scout to report and then execution. There's
that fine line between being aggressive and being disciplined as hitters,
and I think the Dodgers have been able to apply that.
Hopefully that's the case tonight when they face another right
hander who is you know, he's right on the money
as well, and he's faced very well in the month
of September that they're gonna be facing tonight. So yeah,
(27:41):
there's that fine line between Okay, we want to be aggressive.
I think the Dodgers understand the strong point of the
Reds from a pitching standpoint is their starting rotation.
Speaker 3 (27:51):
You'd like to get to the bullpen?
Speaker 7 (27:52):
Is that also the battle cry and the Reds dugout
because if you look at the last night's snell, tonight's Yamamoto,
the Reds have to be thinking, hey, wait a minute,
it took three guys fifty nine pitches to recorded three
outs in the eighth. Any last night they're thinking, hey, look,
let's try and get past Yamamoda and get to the bullpen.
Speaker 10 (28:09):
Before we back out of here.
Speaker 11 (28:10):
Rick, how much do we take for granted a starting
pitcher being asked to come out of the bullpen, because
that's what the Dodgers will be asking of em it
Shean and Tyler Glass now as soon as tonight.
Speaker 7 (28:23):
Shean's done it in the past. Glass, Now, you know
we're creatures of habit. If a pitcher is normally going
to start working out for and getting ready for a
start to start the game, you know that's thirty five
or forty minutes. That's besides what they've already spent in
the training room. Maybe getting loose. It's a different story
(28:43):
in the bullpen. You know, you don't have that training
table for thirty minutes to get loose. You don't have
a different well, you have a different routine. How do
you adjust on that because they have to be done
in the fly. Shean's done in the past, we don't
know about Glass now.
Speaker 3 (28:57):
On a consistent basis.
Speaker 10 (28:59):
Should be fun, Rick, the Dodgers are.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
Postseason is always fun, David.
Speaker 11 (29:03):
All I'm hearing from the Dodger players. Rick is winning tonight,
and that's a good sign.
Speaker 3 (29:07):
And that's what they have to do.
Speaker 7 (29:08):
And they have to play inning by inning and outscore
the other club nine different innings.
Speaker 3 (29:12):
Intonight's game.
Speaker 11 (29:13):
All right, thanks a lot, Rick, We'll check back in
with you later. Can't wait to be in Philadelphia with you,
hopefully on Saturday night.
Speaker 3 (29:21):

This is high and tight.
Speaker 11 (30:50):
There's a very few people that I'll blow Andrew Friedman
off for, But when a guy is the NLCS MVP
and Homers in the first game of the Wildcard Series,
I will blow off Andrew Friedman, and that is Tommy Edmund. Tommy,
thanks a lot for the time, appreciate it.
Speaker 14 (31:05):
What's updated? Of course, of course, proud to be proud
to be here, and glad that you told me that
high regard that you just blow off Andrew Freeman.
Speaker 11 (31:13):
Well, he is the guy that brought you over here,
so you know, I think he could he can live
with this.
Speaker 14 (31:17):
Yeah, that's true. I'm very grateful for that for sure.
Speaker 11 (31:20):
Can you just talk about last night's game and Obviously
game ones are so important, but in this short series,
how big of a relief to a certain extent is
it to have that first game.
Speaker 14 (31:30):
Yes, you know it's great to take game one. You know,
you always want to get that lead early, and we
did a good job of coming out on fire and
scoring a bunch of runs against a really good pitcher.
So yeah, so to get so to get that first
win out of the way is huge, and you know,
we're not letting our foot off the pedal and we're
gonna do our best to come out hot again today.
Speaker 11 (31:47):
Just talking to some of your teammates, that seems to
be the mentality. You're not even thinking about this possibly
going to a game three. You guys are intent on
doing everything possible to make it happen tonight.
Speaker 3 (31:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 14 (31:59):
Absolutely, you know, we're just doing everything we can to
you know, come out hot, get all the preparation in
that we typically do, and you know, just take it to.
Speaker 11 (32:06):
Him when you look at last night's game, Tommy, the
first inning, Blake Snell puts up a zero seven pitches,
Otani gets this place on its feet with the leadoff
home run. Can games change in the first inning as
far as momentum.
Speaker 14 (32:20):
Yeah, it was a great start. You know, you can
tell that Blake had his stuff early on. You know,
he was really on fire those first few innings and
they didn't really have any you know, any any traffic
on the first few innings, and he was just lights
out and then showed to come out and hit a
turn on a hundred mile an hour fastball and crushed
into the seats. You know, it was just gave us
that momentum.
Speaker 11 (32:40):
I was looking at the replays of you and Taoska
going back to back last night.
Speaker 10 (32:45):
In the third inning.
Speaker 11 (32:47):
It felt like that fastball just came right onto the
barrel of your bat. I mean, when you see a
pitch like that, how what kind of challenge is it
to stay within yourself to be able to put that swing?
Speaker 14 (32:58):
Ooh, I did hit a slider.
Speaker 3 (32:59):
Though it was a slider.
Speaker 10 (33:00):
I thought it was a fastball the way he was coming.
Speaker 14 (33:02):
No, it's all good. Yeah, it was you know, just
kind of went run into my back path, and you know,
he's a trying to stay sure. He's got a good fastball,
and and he throwing I could.
Speaker 10 (33:11):
Hit he lost lost street cred right there.
Speaker 14 (33:13):
Oh, that's all good. It's all good. I forget about
stuff sometimes too.
Speaker 10 (33:17):
Thank you.
Speaker 11 (33:18):
I appreciate that you got the day off today. As
far as starting, How did it feel coming out of
last night playing second base?
Speaker 14 (33:24):
Yeah, you know, it felt pretty good, you know, first
game being back in the field since that Arizona series.
So you know, I'm glad that I was able to
get get a few innings out there and and come
out feeling fresh. You know, it feels good today, no
worse for the wear, So you know, I'm glad to
throw us at right now.
Speaker 11 (33:41):
How big of a win was it for you guys,
not only to win that first game, but also to
come out of it as clean as you did, and
not having to use Will Smith.
Speaker 10 (33:49):
It gives him a little extra time as well.
Speaker 14 (33:51):
Yeah, you know, we're just trying to get him healthy.
You know, I know he's feeling better day by day,
and you know, every additional game that we can that
we can go on and let him recover is huge,
and hopefully he'll be good for you know, for future
games in this playoff, in these playoffs and hopefully we
play for a whole other month.
Speaker 11 (34:08):
You made your presence known in last year's October Tommy,
what is it about playoff baseball that brings out the
best in you and your teammates.
Speaker 10 (34:18):
I don't know.
Speaker 14 (34:18):
I mean, we all just get super locked in for
these games. You know, this is what we all play for.
You know, you're playing one hundred and sixty two games
during the season just for the chance to play in
these games. So we get super fired up and we're
just excited to go out there and play some really
meaningful games.
Speaker 11 (34:31):
Thanks a lot for stopping Tommy. Appreciated and slider last night.
Speaker 14 (34:35):
I'll remember that, right of course, David, I appreciate it.
Speaker 11 (34:37):
Hey, we can all get better each and every day.
I'll be better next time.
Speaker 14 (34:40):
That's right. Yeah, you're pretty good, but you know, always
room for improvement.
Speaker 10 (34:43):
Thank you, Tommy.
Speaker 11 (34:44):
Inspired by the Great Tommy y Edmund who will receive
a pair of sunglasses from Canaan Canaan's world's best holarized sunglasses.

to you.
Speaker 2 (35:06):
Tim, all right, thanks a lot, dv Lean.
Speaker 4 (35:08):
You have to first pitch Dodgers and Reds up. Next
we'll dive deeper this pitching matchup. Don't go anywhere. I'm Tim.
Speaker 2 (35:13):
Case's the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 1 (35:18):
This is Morongo Cassino Dodgers hunting on your home for
La Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 4 (35:27):
HiT's the Dodgers in Reds Game two the Wild Cards
series from Dodgers Stadium. First pitch coming up at six
to eight.
Speaker 1 (35:33):
And now before the Dodgers hit the dining we look
at the pitching matchup.
Speaker 4 (35:38):
Present about your Southern California and Toyota dealers. Work hard
and play hard at a new Tacoma with a turbo
charge I Force engine.
Speaker 2 (35:45):
It's a truck built for the Bulls.
Speaker 4 (35:46):
Here Toyota Dealers today, they make it easy. Zach Lyttel
on the mound for the Dodgers. For the Reds, twenty
nine year old right hander in his eight season now
in the big leagues, Traded from the Rays at the
deadline when twelve and eight with the two to forty
nine eer Raider in the regular season, making his sixth
career postseason appearance, his first postseason career starts. He allowed
three runs or fewer in twenty two of his last
(36:06):
twenty nine outings this season. He doesn't walk a lot
of hitters, so be aware of that.
Speaker 2 (36:11):
He does not.
Speaker 4 (36:12):
Have a lot of traffic on the base pass because
of wats, just a four percent walk rate, which is
the lowest mark of all major league starters this year.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto goes for the Dodgers. Twenty seven year old
right hitder twelve and eight with the two forty nine
erray A two hundred and one strikeouts this year was
one of the best starters in the National League. Remember
he took a no hitter into the ninth inning with
(36:32):
two outs in Baltimore. He's been Pitcher of the Month
a couple of times this year, including in September where
he was really good. He led the National League in
top ten and erray whip Pona's batting average and strikeouts
per nine inning as well as strikeouts top ten is
there with two hundred and one, facing the Reds for
the third time in his career, first time in the postseason,
one to one, three seventy five ras seventeen strikeouts. He
(36:55):
saw the Reds this season back on July twenty eighth.
Seven innings of one run ball, allowing only four hits
and two walks and nine strikeouts. It is the Reds
and the Dodgers, Game two the Nation League Wildcard Series.
Keys to the game are next. I've said case's world
champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 1 (37:15):
This is Marongo Casino Dodgers on tack on your home
for the Blue all season Law.
Speaker 4 (37:24):
It's the Dodgers and Reds Game two of this Wildcard
series from Dodgers Stadium. Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Zach lttel the pitching
matchup of Dodgers win and they'll hop on a plane
tomorrow for Philadelphia to start the NLDS on Saturday Dodger loss.
Speaker 2 (37:39):
And there's a Game three here at Dodgers Stadium tomorrow night.
First pitch coming up at six to oh.
Speaker 4 (37:43):
Wait before that, though, we head back over to the
booth one final time to hear from Stephen Nelson and
Rick Monday.
Speaker 5 (37:48):
Guys, all right, TC back at it here with Rick Monday.
The Dodgers in Game one score ten runs that match
their high in any game In last year's twenty twenty
four postseason, the run to the World Series, it was
a balanced attack from the offense. Nine different Dodgers had hits,
eight different guys scored, and really they rode Blake Snell,
who was sensational in seven innings. So now Yoshinoba Yamamoto
(38:11):
will take his crack at it. Moll, what sort of
keys are you?
Speaker 7 (38:14):
I think, first of all, we look at the last
seven starts, well, his record two and oh should have
been much better than that Era one fifty three in September.
If we match up both of these pitchers tonight September,
Yamamoto four starts, Eer zero point sixty seven. If we
look at Littel going for the Cincinnati Rens five starts
(38:34):
in September, well, he was one to oh Era almost
at five. Over that period of time, Yamamoto gives up
fourteen home runs into the thirty starts that he's had.
If you look at the thirty two starts for Lttel,
he gave up thirty six home runs and ten starts.
Remember two is that Lattel came over to Cincinnati from
(38:54):
Tampa Bay right at the trade deadline, so he's made
ten starts with the Reds. He's a guy. If you're
not going to be disciplined at home plate, he'll take
advantage of you.
Speaker 3 (39:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (39:02):
Those thirty six home runs the second most in Major
League Baseball, behind only Jake Irvin, who gave up thirty
eight for the Nationals. That was about twenty one percent
of the hits surrendered by latel this year. All left
the ballpark so offensively. The only change in the lineup
is Tommy had been is out tonight that right ankle,
little bothersoim coming out of yesterday's game. But it's Miguel
(39:22):
Rojas who had a hit off the bench and who's
been one of the hottest Dodgers for a few months now.
So what is the approach knowing that the arsenal is
gonna be much different? Hunter Green is relying on the
hard stuff Hunter Mile prior fastball.
Speaker 3 (39:35):
Zach Lyttel.
Speaker 5 (39:35):
He throws more breaking balls than he does fastball.
Speaker 7 (39:38):
Yeah, he does, and he's done it very well. You
start to look at the last two stars of Lattel.
He allowed just three runs over those two stars. That's
nine in the third innings. He's going to try and
keep the hitters off balance. Isn't that the key to
the game. And by the way, that's exactly what Blake
Snell did so effectively, and last night's started.
Speaker 5 (39:56):
One more note as we get it back to you,
Tim Kates both starters and Lttel in their last four
turns in the regular season. Their respective teams won all
four games. The Dodgers won Yamamoto's last four and the
Reds won Latel's last four. Something's got to give tonight
Game two. The Dodgers have a chance to eliminate Cincinnati
and move on to Philadelphia. First pitch coming up shortly.
Speaker 2 (40:18):
All right, thank you, Nelly.
Speaker 4 (40:19):
First pitch is coming up next Game two of the
Wildcard Series. Dodgers looking to close out the Cincinnati Reds.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the bound. When we come back, enjoy it.
David Vassei is back post game with all of the festivities,
including Dodger Talk as well.
Speaker 2 (40:34):
I'm Tim Katson.
Speaker 4 (40:35):
This is the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.
