Speaker 1 (00:00):
And an exclusive interview with David Bassey for Dodger Talker.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
It's a great day at Dodger Stadium.

Speaker 1 (00:08):
You got Eddy Money playing in the background and Max
Muncy on the field taking grounders, trying to work his
way back. Max, thanks a lot for the time. And
it feels like two tickets to Paradise between you and
me right now.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
I wouldn't go that far, but yeah, it's a good day.
It's a it's a good day to get.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
Out case some working and you know, hopefully cheer the
boys onto a w Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Max, it feels like from what we have seen and
I know obviously you've sustained a pretty significant injury, but
it looks like you're getting closer.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
I don't think we still fully know what the timetable
is just yet, but the progression's going well. Things are
moving quick, maybe quicker than what we're expecting. But you know,
part of that is just understanding. You know where your
body's at, where the injury's at, you know what the
context of the injury is, and you know, are you

(01:00):
gonna hurt it worse or are you not gonna hurt
it worse? And so you know, when you understand those things,
you're able to kind of set a mindset, at least
for me. You know, you kind of know how I am,
and so when I get that mindset, I'm gonna get going.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
What's the information you've gotten on that? Is it a
pain tolerance situation? Is it about you just trying to
feel comfortable playing with this type of pain?

Speaker 2 (01:21):
Yeah, it's a little bit of all the above. You know.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
Uh, I don't think I can make it any worse
unless you recreate what happened, and obviously I don't plan
on doing that. So from there, it's kind of just
a tolerance thing. And you know, that's where I'm just
trying to put I'm trying to push things, trying to
be smart about it, but uh, you know, if if
things feel good, I'm gonna i'mnna keep progressing forward. And

(01:45):
you know, it's the biggest thing right.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
Now, you've been through this before with different injuries where
you've been forced to watch for extended period of time.
How difficult is it to be sitting on the bench
and missing games.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
That sucks.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
It's it's the worst thing ever, you know, It's it's
just it's not It's not a whole lot of fun
when the team's not doing well and you can't be
out there doing anything to help them, and you know,
it's it's it's really tough to just sit on sidelines
and watch. You obviously try to do anything you can
and you're trying to, you know, talk with guys about
what their approach might be and you know that sort
of stuff, but there's only so much you can do

(02:19):
when you're sitting on the sideline, and uh, yeah, like
I said, it just really sucks.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
Max Munsey is our guest in front of first pitch
between the Dodgers and Brewers.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Yesterday was a special day.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
It kind of feels weird a current player going out
there to be honored with some of the Dodger alumni.
But how special was it for you to carry out
the World Championship trophy from twenty twenty and be out
there with so many great Dodger Championship teams.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
Yeah, it was a pretty special moment. It's a you know,
the history of this organization, it's truly truly special, and
to know that you're a part of that history, it's
it's a.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Really cool moment.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
And you get to go out there and you get
to celebrate two trophies that are on that field, and
you know something I'm very proud of and uh, you know,
I'm very blessed to have been able to be a part
of part of both those teams. And you know, I
don't care what anyone said, that twenty twenty trophy feels
just as real as a twenty twenty four trophy. And
you know, being able to carry it out there on
the field with Freddie carrying the one from last year
was a that was a really cool moment for me,

(03:16):
just you know, understanding your your part in history in
this organization.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
I know, when you guys are playing, you're still in
the grind of every day your career and you're far
from being done playing. But on a day like yesterday,
does it become a reflective moment even for you that
you're part of history for the rest of the franchisees legacy.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Yeah, it's it's cool.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
You know, it really makes you look up there and
you know, you see the the years on the on
the stadium out there for all the world saries, you know, championships,
and you know you kind of those last two you
look at and realize I was, you know, I was
a part of those two and that's a that's always
a special moment. And you know, like you said, getting
to be on the field with the greats that have
been in this organization, you know, Steve Garvey out there,

(04:02):
Dusty Baker, you know, you had all those guys, and
it's like, it's just cool to be in the same
boat as those guys, you know, because they've been legends
for this organization for so long and to finally bring so,
you know, just some new history to that, it's it's
it's pretty cool.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
Hey, two hundred plus home runs and counting, you're in
elite category and a two time World Series champion. A
lot of those guys can't say that either. Can't wait
for you to come back to try to make it
a third ring on your hand.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
Max Munsey, I can't wait. I'd be lovely. Max Munsey
has been our guest.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
Hey, before we go, do you want to give your
online live auction a plug here?

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Muncie?

Speaker 3 (04:37):
Yeah. Absolutely. For those that weren't able to attend to
our event, you know, there's there's an auction online where
you can still bid on items, and again, one hundred
percent of the proceeds are going to help out fire
relief efforts, and you know the YMCA, the foothills, and
you know, it's just a it's a it's a great
chance to get some some cool autograph stuff and memorabilia,
and you know, hopefully, hopefully we.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
Have some takers on no doubt, I saw some of
the items. I'm gonna have to get a free pass
from the wife.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
Yeah. Absolutely, I'm not giving you any friend discounts though, David,
you're on your own.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
Oh no, this is for a good cause for sure.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
And you can find the link on Max Munsey's Instagram account.
Thanks a lot for the time, Max, and can't wait
to have you back on the field.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
Thanks a lot, David, appreciate it.
