Speaker 1 (00:00):
And an exclusive interview with David Bassey for Dodger talking.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Well, it's great to be with Dodger closer Tanner Scott
back in San Diego wearing Dodger blue. He's activated, he's ready,
just waiting for that opportunity. Thanks a lot for the time,
appreciate it, Thanks for having me. I know you get
nervous around me, so just act natural.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
So nervous around you. It's insane.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
It's been a long road back in some ways right
to get back here, get healthy and be available.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
Yeah, it was a month. I wish it was like
three days, but it turned out to be a month.
And you gotta trust the process and not feel good.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
When you're out that long and you're number one trying
to get healthy. But after you get healthy, what are
you trying to do?
Speaker 1 (00:47):
Put our team in a good spot to win and
just go out there and pitch and get out. I mean,
it's terrible, terrible watching the team when you can't play
for a month and you just want to be out
there and feels good to be back.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Dave said yesterday that not only did you get healthy,
but you may have tweaked some things mechanically. Did it
help you kind of reset or fix whatever you needed
to fix, considering relievers don't have the luxury of that time.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
Yeah, definitely, I mean you get a you get that
time to really work on stuff. And I mean how
how it happened? I was definitely probably a flaw in
my mechanics that we cleaned up and I noticed on
some video and it's it's been great ever since.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
Do you feel like you belong now with the Dodgers?
Do you feel comfortable coming to a new team. I'm
sure there's that transition period.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Oh yeah, for sure. I mean I felt comfortable day
one walking in.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
Everyone was great.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
I mean I saw Mooki and he's like, welcome to
the family, and that was That was pretty cool.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
But no, it feels good.
Speaker 4 (01:47):
What did show Hate tell you when you first came?
Speaker 1 (01:49):
Hey, how's it going? I mean he's a nice guy,
I mean simple.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Hey, being back here at Petco Park wearing this uniform?
What's it like? What flashes through your mind? Being part
of that side of the rivalry and now being on
this side?
Speaker 1 (02:03):
I got I got called trader trader last night, But
I mean, how can I be a trader? I got
traded over here and I was only here two months.
Uh No, it's uh, it's it's baseball. I mean, we're
whoever's on the other sides of the enemy. So I
mean you're just trying to win. I mean it's every
day you're trying to win, put your team in a
good spot to be in the playoffs and win the
whole thing.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
Are you saying some surfer dude fan out there called
you a trader? Are you saying one of the guys
wearing the brown and orange did.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
Think his name was Dave or something like that.
Speaker 4 (02:30):
I'm just joking surfer Dave.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
No, it was just some fan. It's you get to
call it trader.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
And it's like, okay, how would you rank this bullpen
compared to the other hostile environments.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
This is probably the coolest, coolest atmosphere to play in,
just because the fans are always in it.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
I mean, they're big games.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
But uh, I would say Philly is a good one
to play into because they get wild.
Speaker 4 (02:55):
Yeah I've heard that. Oh yeah, they throw things, They throw.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
Things, talk a lot of crap, and uh it is.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
What it is when you're in the bullpen and you're
watching the game unfold. The electricity in this stadium. I'm
sure it doesn't get lost on you guys.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
No, No, it's I mean the fans.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Anytime we're playing and we're playing the padres, it's uh there,
everyone's into it, and it's uh, it's exciting.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
When you get with that bullpen, it seems like it's
a team within a team.
Speaker 4 (03:22):
Is that a fair way to.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
Family inside of the big family? Yeah, that's what I
always say. I mean, yeah, you're close with everyone on
the team, but you're closest with the guys down in
the bullpen.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
How about the games that you guys played down there?
I heard the home run games. I know Jonathan Irb,
your trainer caught.
Speaker 4 (03:37):
I know Tany's.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
Our trainers are winning it right now, unfortunately, but I
got to make a push. Thirty days didn't help me
on the aisle, so I gotta get my name back
up there.
Speaker 4 (03:46):
Are you anxious to get into the game tonight?
Speaker 3 (03:48):
For sure?
Speaker 4 (03:49):
I'm always anxious. Did Dave say you're the closer?
Speaker 3 (03:51):
I have no clue. I just wanted whenever the phone.
Speaker 4 (03:53):
Rings, what you expect your name to be called?
Speaker 3 (03:57):
Whenever?
Speaker 4 (03:58):
All right? Sounds good. You want to show off that
beautiful bald head again?
Speaker 3 (04:02):
No, that's you. You want to do it?
Speaker 2 (04:04):
No, No, this is great lettuce. No, come on, you
know that, ain't it. Damn Tanner Scott, always giving it
to me.
Speaker 3 (04:12):
I got I got you. It's fun.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
It's a love hate relationship.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
More hate, more hate.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
All right, we'll leave it right there. This guy puts
me on a pedestal. He deifies me. It's tough to
live up to those expectations.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
Pedestal like a stepping stool, not a pedestal.
Speaker 4 (04:30):
Get out of here. Thanks, there he is my guy.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
Tanner Scott sixty six in your program, number ten in
your heart
