the A Whole? Dating? Editionwith Brie yet again. I don't even
yeah, I look forward to whatwe've heard so far. It might be
a doozy. So she is stayingoff the air. If she says any

So we have he coming up inthe final segment of the show.
(01:29):
Also, our friend Eric Steven's goingto join us talk some baseball FA baseball
FBL. But before any of that, I believe we got some voice mails
on the hot Takas hotline nine seveneight eleven ninety seven Talk seven eight eleven
ninety seven. We missed you lastweek. We are back for you now,
Kevin, do we got a call? We have one. Let's get
(01:49):
to it. F and A Peterfrom North Dakota here went to the movies
and I needed help from the expertsand being assholes. A group of people
in front of me were not intheir assigned seats, and I know that
because one couple came in they movedthem to different seats, and then the
people in front of me were like, oh, these aren't our seats either,
were sitting all the way in thefront row. I don't really want
(02:13):
to sit there. And when thepeople who rightfully bought those seats came in,
they were like, Oh, Ididn't realize these weren't our seats.
Blah blah blah, just fucking lying, just acting like bigger fools than they
were. Until there the people whorightfully had those seats sat in the front
row. I was so mad.I didn't say anything, like I knew.
(02:34):
I couldn't have interacted with them calmly, irrationally. I would have been
like, are you fucking kidding me? It would have been it would have
been bad. And you know me, I'm a big guy. What would
you have done? Would any ofyou stood up? Would you have talked
to the manager like the trailer wasalmost over, the movie was about to
start. Epene hmmm. I meanthat's the reason you have assigned seating now
(02:54):
at pretty much every theater. It'snot just the arc light anymore. They
always wanted you just select your seats. Uh. It's kind of annoying.
It's extremely annoying. You know exactlywhere your seats are, sit in them.
And if you're at a sporting eventand it's like the sixth inning and
the seats are still empty, thenmoved down and sit on them. I
don't have a problem with that. But if it's the top of the second
(03:15):
and you're in la or somewhere whereyou know people are going to be late
ninety percent of the time. Don'tsend in somebody else's seat. Yeah,
don't send It's not it's really notthat difficult. It's not. It annoys
the hell out of me when Icome down and it's like, oh,
I think you're saying, oh weare. I had no idea. Come
on, misty, let's move over. I mean, I guess that's how
you got to play it off.I don't know what else you're gonna say
at that point, just like,oh, they're my seats now, you
(03:37):
can't depail them right well, andthen you have a whole whole issue and
you start getting into a fight oversomething I call the red coats in Yeah,
it's like nobody wants to do that. It's just send your own goddamn
seat. Is it really that difficult? We you gotta at least wait for
the game to start to have afight in the stands, right well,
at least let us sit down first. Not all the time, I guess
right over here for me, ithappens all the time. And look,
(03:59):
if you miss d the row thataran or something, or you're dark in
there. If you have seats nowthe movie theater sure, although usually doing
the previews it's still light enough toknow exactly where you're going. You should
be able to you know, youcan very clear. That's why they have
lights on the floor to tell you. It illuminates the side so you know
exactly what role you're going kind of, you know, So there's really no
excuse for that, Peter. Yeah, so I could. I could see
(04:19):
you get in irked about that,Peter, And I could see someone moving
if you said something, because youespecially there would be some seats mooving,
some furniture movie, you know whatI mean. If somebody was in their
assigned seats and Peter walked up andsays, those of my seats, they
probably still moved. So you know, I was keeping it war for That's
probably a trick that you have inyour back pocket there, Peter. That
works for you. Good stuff. You guys want to be like Peter,
(04:41):
leave us a voicemail nine four, nine seven, eight eleven ninety seven.
Those people are a holes. Absolutely. Before we get to our guests coming
up in Eric Steven, we gota quick first off, there's go time
that's wrong. So, uh,the Lakers came back on my Clippers who
were up twenty one, with lessthan twelve minutes left in the fourth quarter.
(05:04):
Kevin and I haven't been the samesince. Really, look, it
was terrible. It was not.It was not a good loss by all
means stretch. For sure, theworst I've seen to the Lakers, for
sure, a team they used todominate. There haven't been many of them
over the last decade or so.For the Clippers against the Lakers, maybe
(05:25):
we're a little bit blessed in thatway because they had won thirty seven of
the last forty five games between thetwo. Not that anyone's counting, no,
not at all. They had woneleven straight before this season started.
But for the first time since twentyeleven, I believe the Lakers won the
season series. Oh look, youdon't have two of the best defensive players
in the league on your lineup. That's going to affect you if you're the
(05:46):
Clippers with Paul George and I VitzeZubat. So the Clippers could have won
by thirty for all we know ifthose guys are in there, no excuses.
I'm not making any excuses. Idare you make excuses for the Clippers
Percy Lean effort to even get theLakers to that point point and then again
Anthony Davis and Lebron James the nextnight against Washington has to do the exact
same thing. And don't give meschedule a loss back to back bullshit.
(06:08):
That's all that is. This teamis playing mediocre and they know it.
And if you have to have LebronJames play like prime Lebron James from twenty
twelve, you have an issues ofthe Jela Lakers, You're not going anywhere.
That's a fair point. The Clippersare in a bit of a lull
again, don't have some of theirbest players in the lineup. Gonna happen.
Sometimes be encouraged by the fact thatyou were up by twenty one points
at that point in time. Iwant to say, somebody to point out
(06:30):
the fact on a social media clipsof James Harden blowing by people on the
perimeter, finishing at the rim betterthan he has at certain points this season.
There's positives to take away from it. Now the OKAC and Sacramento loss
is notwithstanding, Minnesota, You're stillin a fight at the top of the
Western and now it will be greatif you beat those teams in front of
you. That's still here now,it would be fine. Two and six
(06:50):
against the top three times, there'sstill time left. Calm the fuck down.
There's twenty five games, Kevin, still don't have a sense of urgency.
Let me get Let me ask youa question, as Michael Thompson will
say, ask you a questioned inthe Western Conference finals last year, Lakers
and Nuggets, and what were theLakers? They were like in eighth place,
(07:14):
the freaking nine to ten seed andthe fucking play in tournament. The
Clippers are fighting for the top seedin the Western Conference. If the Lakers
can fight from barely making the playoffsto all the way to the conference finals,
you're freaking out about the Clippers sittinga little bit of a loll right
now after they whooped everybody's ass fortwo and a half straight months. Calm
the fuck down. I can't getgreedy. I can't get greedy. No,
(07:36):
it's been the best season ever Iknow, during the regular season for
the Clippers, but still they needa top three seed. If you don't
have a top three seed, youprobably aren't winning the championship. At least
that's what history says. The roadis tougher, absolutely tougher, there's no
doubt, I will not deny that. But they're talented enough, they're deep
enough, hopefully they're healthfully healthy enough, and so far they have been what
(07:59):
pg's missed five games, six games? Yeah around there they He and Kawhi
Leonard have probably missed twelve games.Oh my god, between them, he
usually missed twelve games in the firstfifteen of the season by now. So
all is well. I'm not tryingto be Leslie Nielsen with everything being destroyed
behind me, because things are notthat dire. Nothing to see here.
They've hit a bit of a lull. They're trying to figure things out.
(08:22):
Having that PGD last couple of games. Zubots has been in and out,
and when he's in, he's oneof the best paying defenders in the entire
league. You want those guys tobe on and healthy when it matters most
a month and a half, twomonths from now. Yeah, but these
Laker fans keep coming after me atfollowing man kiss my hand, and I'm
one of them. Baker fans can'ttalk shit about anybody or to anybody,
(08:45):
and yet yo, forty forty fiveyear old Lebron James to hit miracle threes
left and right to beat the Wizards. Hang the banner, Laker fans,
you finally want a season series againstthe Cliffers. How about that, Laker
fans saying anything to me? Nothing. I'm just trying to fight, trying
to fight your way into the postseason, and you want to say something to
the Clippers. I've been dealing withthis my entire life, though, so
(09:07):
it really eats at me any lossto the Lakers, going back to my
Sacramento days, I get PTSD,I understand. I started thinking about twenty
seven free throws in the fourth quarterin Game six in the Western Conference Finals.
I can't have it. I can'thave Lebron James hitting five freaking three
pointers in the fourth quarter. Iknow he's shooting forty percent from the outside
this season, but my god,how could he get that hot? Like
(09:31):
I, You're up twenty one inthe fourth. They weren't up twenty one
in the first quarter, in thesecond quarter. This is true, twenty
one in the fourth. Clipper fanswere not happy postgame, right. I
took a call from a guy whosaid, I haven't called in since Brian
Seeman hung up on me ten yearsago. Back when he used to do
(09:54):
the college show, and he said, and I was right there because I
was trying to tell them Vinie delNagger's I not a good coach. And
now I'm saying the same thing aboutTyler. When I was talking back down
off the ledge, it was Iknow, it hurts a little bit more
when it's the Lakers. It hurtsa lot more when it's the Lakers the
Salt. Just consider where you areand where they are right now. And
(10:16):
let's put it this way, doyou want to switch positions? Would you
rather the Clippers that come back fromtwenty one down and be fighting for the
ten to eleventh hole in the WesternConference and shut the f up look and
keep on rolling onto the postseason andhope you guys stay healthy so you have
a chance to win a goddamn champion. Clippers fans have high standards, Okay,
with all due respects, don't youreally have not done anything to earn
(10:39):
that yet you're working on it,and it's great. And when those guys
have been healthy, you've been greatthe last five years. You just haven't
been able to sustain it and stayhealthy. Hopefully it stays that way this
year. You can close out Staplesor whatever the fuck is called now and
win a championship and take that bannerto Inglewood. That's what I'm saying.
I want to see that banner addinto it Dull when they move in.
And you know what, I lostto the Lakers on February twenty seventh.
(11:01):
Not gonna affect that. One derailedeverything, Not gonna affect it. One
destroyed the year, destroyed the season. Okay, coming up next, I
mean, the Dodgers are probably nevergonna lose, so if you're a Dodger
fan, you gotta worry about that, of course, So coming up to
talk about that more is one ofour favorites. Alan Dragan did thank you,
Donny Well with opening Day just nineteendays away for the Dodgers and padres
(11:26):
in South Korea, because that's what'sin. We got to talk about the
international flavor and a few white boystoo, if that's cool. Will be
to b as. Our friend ESPis here, and if you are clairvoyant,
you know that stands for Eric StephenPuns. He wanted to lengthen out
his name like the Dodgers have lengthenedout the lineup. Eric of course covers
the team for True Blue LA andEspanation and you can follow him at Eric
(11:48):
Stephen on X where he's gonna giveit to you with those puns on runs
and all that commentary. We loveit, Eric, How you been pretty
good? I had to add thepee because with a new smaller lettering on
the back of the jerseys, it'shard to see. So like, I
just wanted to just wanted to getmy name out there. You know,
that's fair enough. It's all aboutbranding, my man. I got a
(12:11):
question. Let's talk about goat Tanihere. You know, he's been in
some solid lineups, obviously in Anaheimwith the Angels next to Mike Trout,
but how much can his numbers stillinflate just having the support system and the
protection around him in this Dodgers lineup? Like if he is going to be
the modern day Babe Ruth, he'sgot to hit sixty home runs? Right?
(12:33):
Can he do that? I meanit's certainly possible, Like he hit
what forty four last year and hedidn't he didn't bat in the last like
four weeks of the season, soyou know it's certainly possible. Now.
The one weird thing, so twentynineteen was when he came off of his
Tommy John surgery, so he washitting only that year, so that's sort
(12:56):
of the comp year. That wasalso like his first year like adjusting to
that, and he didn't hit wellright away. It took him a little
bit. So I think now he'sso much more like regimented and compartmentalized.
I think, uh, I thinkhe's gonna probably be just fine in that
regard. I don't I don't necessarilythink then the issue would be, of
(13:16):
course, if the elbow is affectinglike his swaying. We've seen, you
know, players with injuries like ittakes a little bit to come back,
like you know, Maximunt's a differentinjury and all that kind of stuff.
But his he you know, ittook him like a half a year before,
like he was doing anything at theplay a couple of years ago when
he when he heard his elbow. So that's something to watch. But it
(13:37):
seems like he's he's doing like finehealth wise, So like I think there's
a lot of reasons to like reallylike it. But like you mentioned in
the lineup, I don't think we'veever really seen a three in a row
like this. Certainly not in likeDodger's history. I don't think of you
know, bets Otani, Freeman andwhatever order they are that it sounds like
(14:00):
that's going to be the order,at least it was the other day.
That's what they're going to go withfor a little bit. But those guys
together, they're going to produce alot of runs, and like you figure,
the other beneficiary of this is goingto be like whether it's Will Smith
or Kioskar, Hernandez or Munsey, like hitting fourth or fifth, like they're
(14:20):
gonna, you know, a lotof time's going to have so many people
on base when they bat so wecould see like one hundred and twenty RBI
season from one of those folks, like just because they're always batting with runners
on. You mentioned Munsie and Iwant to get back to him in a
second, but you also brought upMookie Betts. I don't know if you
saw the piece that Ken Rosenthal didon him in the Athletic earlier this week.
Did you happen to catch that soI had. I did not read
(14:45):
it yet. I saw like anexcerpt of it, but other than that,
I didn't really see it. Yeah, I mean the just I mean
talked about Mookie Bets says he wantsto be, you know, a legendary
player, a legend of the game, but not necessarily talking about stats and
numbers and production and when World Seriesand no are talking about being a good
teammate and he leaves with other playersin the clubhouse and all that stuff is
phenomenal. Unfortunately, I don't thinkthat's what Dodger fans want to hear when
(15:05):
he comes off of getting you know, basically no hits in the entire nds,
after struggling the prior year. Inthe postseason as well, he did
not downplay the fact that, yes, he needs to be more productive.
He talked about that earlier than theoffseason as well. But just how much
pressure do you think is on himindividually? Not this year. He can
hit forty home runs again, hecan hit one hundred OVEREI but it sounds
odd to say considering that, asAda mentioned, we're a couple of weeks
(15:28):
away from opening day and I'm askingyou a postseason question. But everything is
going to be defined by how thisteam performs in the postseason, and we
know the team goes as Mookie goes. Do you think he recognizes the magnitude
of what it means, particularly inthis season where they spend close to a
billion dollars in the offseason, knowingthat they've come up short so often in
the playoffs. Just how big ofa year this is going to be in
the playoffs? I mean, yes, except that it's weird because it's more
(15:52):
it's more of a heightened degree thisyear because of adding Otani and Yamamoto and
just sort of you know, Glassnow and like sort of all the additions
they've made. But like I wouldsay, the past like at least five
years have been pretty much for theDodgers, Like we knew they were going
(16:12):
to be good in the regular season, but like it was a matter of
what they did in the postseason.Right. So now the last two years,
like you know, we're getting toa point where obviously the two early
division series exits just put it leavea bad taste in everyone's especially when they
want one hundred and eleven games, right, and then they want a hundred
and then I see, I stilldon't know how they wont one hundred last
(16:33):
year, but like the fact thatthey did and then they just didn't show
up, So like that's that's stillgoing to be the issue. Like what
they we know they're going to begood in the regular season, like they're
they're going to win. They mightlike win like ninety seven games and still
be like a better team in aweird way, but like it doesn't matter,
Like what they do in the playoffsis going to define them. But
(16:53):
I think that's been the case forso long that they're sort of used to
it in a way. But likeI it is is going to be heightened
just because you know, Twani factoralone, I think sort of heightens it.
But but I also I don't thinklike the focus is lost or anything.
It's just it's just always going tobe there. Like you know,
I don't I don't like the factthat necessarily they that people sort of tend
(17:18):
to dismiss like the regular season becauseyou know, it's still like a pretty
big accomplishment. But they know theylike they know they have to win,
Like Dave Roberts probably knows like ifthey have another agent like that, that's
probably not good for his future either. So like you know, it's all
it's all sort of tied together. It's not who I am underneath, but
what I do that defines me alittle Batman mcgains for you there. Yeah,
(17:42):
I feel like they could lose ona walk off in Game seven of
the World Series and it would stillbe viewed as a disappointing season just because
of all the guys that they haveadded on this Dodgers team. Unfortunately,
that's what things are for a lotof people. Yes, uh, you
mentioned Almamoto there. We got ourfirst look at him. Is that splitter
something that's going to be talked about, like the new gyro ball when dice
(18:04):
K was coming in, or justone of these new pitches that guys have
no idea what to do with, where he's just dominant and everybody else has
to adjust to him the first coupleof months. Yeah, I think that's
the thing. He has such goodstuff, but also his control is so
good, like he's hitting like edges, the edges of the strike zone,
(18:25):
all that kind of stuff, andhe sort of puts it where he wants
it all the time. Before hesigned, I think it was must have
been back in November or December.Ino Saras, who's you know pitching guru
or just you know baseball guru,I would say, really good into like
pitch modeling and looking at specific pitches, and he sort of rated Yamamoto's pitches
(18:51):
based on like some of the thepark data we had from like the World
Baseball Classic, just like the thewhat the pitch did, how it reacted,
like the speed, oh everything aboutit. Right, So, and
he was sort of modeling it andhe said, like right away he's going
to have the best split finger pitchin among major league starters. So it's
like, oh God, okay, that's that's a pretty big expectation, but
(19:11):
like that might be right, andlike coupled, you know, I think
it did all plays together with youknow, his fastball is like what it's
going to be like ninety five ninetysix, but he's gonna have pinpoint control.
So I think if he can controleverything and be like a heading counts
like that, everything plays up.You get all your splitter looks a lot
better when you're you know, it'swhen it's like a one two pitch or
(19:33):
a no two pitch or something, because the batters are kind of guessing at
that point. But yeah, Ithink that's gonna definitely be something to watch.
But it's going to be interesting tosee how he sort of you know,
obviously the biggest contract for a pitcherever. So but and I know,
well, he hasn't done anything.Well, he's done something, he
just hasn't pitched in the majors literallyyet. So but it's just one of
(19:56):
those things like it's just going tobe interesting to see exactly how good he
is right from the jump. Now. Know Untsey had a bit of a
rist issue, got hit in thehand the other day. They said the
X rays were negative, so he'ssupposed to end up being fine. But
apparently the big story is surrounding himis that he's lost a lot of weight,
moving a lot better out there, plans to be better defensively at third
base. How has he looked sofar to you and spring into the other
(20:17):
reporters and talking to him out therein the field, does he look to
be moving a lot better? Andhow big of a jump can he make?
Because he says he knows that he'san above average defender when everything is
right, and that everything just hasnot been right for him from a health
wise and a weight standpoint the lastcouple of years. Yeah, I will
say, well, first I havenot been to Arizona yet this year,
so I haven't had a chance tolike talk to him or anything like that,
But I have been watching the games, but yeah, he was.
(20:41):
His being like even average or likeslightly above average defensively would be a huge
upgrade because he was he was youjust overall like pretty bad, especially at
times like the last year year anda half. That's going to be something
to watch with him. I alsothink his he hasn't hit lefties like either
(21:02):
of the last two years now lastyear. I think I haven't dug into
like the batted ball data on this, but uh, you know, with
the shift restrictions sort of went awaylast year, he sort of figured months
he might benefit from that. Buthis his like batting average on balls in
play against left handed pitching was onetwenty two, which is which seems like
(21:26):
impossible to replicate. So I don'tknow if he's just hitting terrible contact or
not. Like That's why I said, I'm hesitant to like just put it
all on that, like maybe he'sgoing to rebound just out of luck.
But yeah, him being able tolike stay in the lineup all the time
against right he's and lefties, whichis what they tend to do anyway,
but like at least they have theroster now to like maneuver a little bit
(21:48):
if he's if he's struggling against lefties. But yeah, I think him slimming
down is going to help both defensivelyand you know, potentially hitting, just
being more more agile and just beinga better all around like athlete. I
guess. Eric Steven is our guesthere on the F and A podcast.
Eric, do you believe that TylerGlass now can be that front line starter?
(22:10):
We know he was trending that wayearlier in his career, but injuries
have thrown the numbers all over theplace. Just where is he at?
I know, I think he's onlygotten one outing so far. Yeah,
he's actually online. He's going tostart tonight on Friday against what they're playing,
the Reds back at Camelback. Buthe's probably going to go like three
(22:32):
innings, so he's he's got timeto start four times I think in Arizona
before they go to South Korea. So he's going to start I'm sure one
of those two games in South Korea. Yamamoto is probably going to be the
other. But so he'll be builtup to probably five innings by then.
Yamamoto is only going to get threestarts, just based on the timing of
(22:56):
it all. So it's gonna beinteresting to see how that goes. But
also I think early, like thosetwo games, I don't necessarily think it's
going to be like the end ofthe world, Like you know, usually
I want their starting picker to goat least five. But if it's like
if they're only built up to fouror something, especially with two games surrounded
by like a week off, theycan maneuver the bullpen, So it's not
(23:18):
that big of a deal. ButI think that's sort of where they're trending.
But yeah, Glass, now youknow, he's he's got great stuff,
and he's pitched very well when he'sbeen healthy. He just like you
know, obviously a big part ofthe time he missed was Tommy John but
he also had like issues with thatelbow a few years before that before the
(23:40):
tear was diagnosed. So you know, you've heard I've heard like different people
saying, well, he really onlyhad the one injury. Yeah, but
it cost him like more than twoyears of time, like in total,
Like that's a big thing, andlike, you know, his one hundred
and twenty innings or maybe it waslike a one hundred and thirty something if
you factor in the minor leagues andthe playoffs, because he did sort of
work his way back. That's hiscareer high. And I think he is
(24:04):
going to be very good when he'son the mound. I would imagine,
like I don't know what to expectany lives right there's it seems like there's
it's not he's not necessarily like anagging injury type of guy, but you
just you just wonder if the hellis going to be there and like if
he can, like if he throwsone hundred and seventy innings, like that's
(24:26):
the Dodgers would take that in aheartbeat, right, like that's that's Gangbusters
at this point. And because Ithink it's going to be good enough even
if he falters a little bit, like just getting that amount of any like
literally, the Dodgers haven't They didn'thave a qualified pitcher last year, curse
all of the team in innings, and he missed like, you know,
six weeks with the shoulder stuff. So I I do have high hopes for
(24:48):
Glass. Now. I just don'tknow what like the ceiling is because you
know, it's weird, like partof this is perception. I grew up,
you know, thinking like you know, starters going deep into games to
you know, two hundred innings, that kind of step. I just think
it's hard to adjust to like anew reality where two hundred innings is like
(25:10):
such an outlier and even like onehundred and eighty innings is not common.
That's hard to adjust to mentally. And I think that's probably coloring like how
like I at least view you know, how like modern pictures are used.
A couple other young top pitching prospects, Erica Land and neck Is one of
(25:32):
them, has gotten a lot ofhype, and Kyle hurt Is another.
What's the ceiling on those guys? And do you think they can make a
major impact on the major league roster, especially considering, you know, talking
about some of the issues that couldpop up of glass Now's durability and not
knowing how Yama mode might adjust, brother having to go every six day,
and Clayton Kershaw if and when, well we know he's going to return,
we just don't know when that's goingto be. How big of an impact
do you think those two young armscan have and what kind of players do
(25:56):
they project to be at the majorleague level. Yeah, I expect both
to pitch in the majors this year. They're both you know, on the
forty men. Heart made his majorleague debut last year. Like there's a
possibility for hurt. His stuff isso like electric that if the starting doesn't
work out, you could see himactually have a bullpen roll in some capacity
(26:18):
eventually. I don't think they're goingto ditch starting, you know, to
go to that unless they have to. But I think right out of the
gate, like Nack has a prettygood shot to like make a reasonably early
impact. Like you know, WalkerBuhler is not going to pitch till like
probably may just given the timing. He's not he might pitch in the Freeway
series he mentioned the other day thatwould be like his first game action.
(26:41):
Then he's still going to be buildingout most of April to get back.
He's also on an innings limit,so you figure one of those young starters
is going to take a starter spotunless like they go strictly to Ryan Yarborough
or something, unless he's the longman. But like Emma Shean is sort
of I think dealing with something.I don't think he's gonna He's not like
(27:03):
pitching, you know, even likelive batting practice at the moment, So
he's probably not gonna be one ofthose guys to start right away. So
that opens up like a spot forlike Gavin Stone or Land and Knack you
know, col Hurt as well,But like some of those guys could get
opportunities like even early in the season. And I think it's gonna be that
way most of the years, justa matter of like, you know,
(27:25):
they they have a lot of reallygood depth just below the surface on the
forty man and when some of thesepic the pitchers they have aren't necessarily available
or if they want a spot likea six starter every now and again,
like they have these arms to beable to do to do it even if
it's in like an up and downcapacity. Eric, how do you think
the rest of the NLS views theDodgers? Obviously the d Backs took him
(27:48):
out last year, the San DiegoPadres the year before that, big upsets.
The Dodgers now spend a billion dollarsto make themselves playoff proof, so
to speak. Do you think there'san AMAS seeing jealousy from the other teams
in the division or is that juststuff coming from fan bases. I mean
some of that san bases. ButI think it's weird. Like you're you
know, you're in They're probably thinking, like, why can't we be in
(28:11):
one of the central divisions right wherelike there's not a behemoth and like you
can win eighty five games that youthat might win the division, you know,
that kind of thing. But no, I've heard like like some interviews
with like Tory Leavello of the Diamondbacks, and you know, he's like,
look, you can't like, well, you know, we might not beat
(28:33):
the Dodgers like in the regular season, but you know, we just we
want to be good enough to getinto the playoffs and then beat them in
like that sort of attitude. Now, I don't think that everyone's necessarily conceding
the division. They're just sort ofrecognizing, like, man, these these
guys are kind of you know, like behemoths, Like like you mentioned,
they're just there's just so much there. But you know, they're also very
(28:56):
beatable in October just because of thenature of the of the playoffs and and
so I think, I don't know, it's weird. Like the Giants the
last few offseasons, you know, obviously they had the great twenty twenty one,
but it seems like they've been liketrying to get that next big step
forward, and I just I don'tknow, maybe it's more of a fan
(29:18):
thing, but I've seen more reactionsfrom the events. Their fans are so
frustrated that they haven't been able tolike sort of bridge any of that gap,
Whereas, like, you know, the Padres have obviously been very volatile
and in their own way, butthey had, you know, a little
bit of success. The Dinabacks obviouslywent to the World Series last year,
so like there's at least some youknow, some thought like that, look,
(29:41):
we can, we can compete withthese guys, even if you know,
we're not going to have We're notwe might not win one hundred games
or whatever. So I think it'sI think it's it's like a healthy competition.
But yeah, I just I don'tknow. If they're in they're not
intimidated, I guess is the bestway to with you rate Eric Steven joining
(30:02):
us on the f and a podcast. Follow him on the socials at Eric
Stephen writes for Espionation in True BlueLA dot Com. Can also check him
out on the Three Inning Save podcaston the Dodgers as well. Eric,
thanks for hopping on as always, man, We appreciate it. We'll talk
to you down the line. Maybeone of the Dodgers are like fifty and
O to start the season or something. At least pleasure. Guys, have
a good weekend, major asshole inreal life surrounded by assholes. Thanks but
(30:26):
the support. Asshole. Hey asshole, you're just an asshole? Hey assholeck
you aushole? Forsk you asshole.Eric Stephen is not an asshole. We
can confirm that. Nothing to dowith Eric, No, not at all.
We thank him for coming on theshow as always, want to clarify,
but nice this guy. I havea transition from one of our favorite
guests to one of our favorite segmentswhere we take the poll of the room
(30:51):
and our listeners as well if theywant to chime in, and we determine
who is or is not the asshole. Now this is not a traditional who's
the asshole segment because this is thewell not necessarily uh brie uh. The
last time we had to show acouple of weeks ago, talked about a
date that she went on and wantedus to determine whether or not she was
(31:11):
the asshole with this gentleman that sheinteracted with. So now we have another
date that Brie went on, andI don't know, now, is this
a similar situation where we're trying todetermine whether or not this guy was an
asshole or a jerk? Are wejust trying to determine whether or not this
was just a bad date? Whatare we looking at here? Brie?
I'm gonna go half in half.I think it's a little bit of both
and I and it's it's weird. It's like there was asshole tendencies, well,
(31:32):
but they tend to emanate from assholeslike Ludacris got your whole whole tendency,
hosier friends, hosey enemies. Itwas just a little weird. All
right, lay it out. Sowhat do we got? Okay, So
here's the A Whole Dating edition onceagain. Yeah, so we went.
(31:52):
Okay, So it was on aSaturday. So I'm doing a lot of
like early ish dates, kind oflike in the middle of the day,
just because like do you feel lessserious that way? Fine? Yeah,
you know, just because I meanI have to go to work after.
It gives you an out, itgives you somewhere to go if things aren't
going well as opposed to like,oh well, you know it's eight forty
five, really gotta go. Yeah, you're give me that good little backup
(32:15):
that I can just legit have somewhereto be. I got it, escape
hatch. Yeah, yeah, it'san escape plan for sure. And so
and maybe again. So I'm kindof focusing in the LA area, which
is that because you live here orI don't, Well, you live in
southern California, I guess. Imean you mean, do you mean the
La County area as opposed to theOC or so there's a certain guy yeah
(32:39):
that comes from LA. I'm kindof feeling that way that there is I'm
kind of wondering, very interesting aftertwo days your stereotype and everybody from Los
Angeles another frat boy we got huhyeah really really? And I had no
idea there was no see from arival frat did like, was there some
hazing going on from the last guyyou dated? So I don't know.
(33:00):
I think it was just a lotof I don't, I don't. There
was no signs that he was afrat guy before I went on the date
with him, all Right, Sothat's that's kind of where it was just
kind of I was kind of goingand blind. He he seemed pretty cool,
he said, I mean, whatwould the sign have been, like
he's taped to a telephone polar Becausethe other guy I had at least looked
(33:20):
at his Instagram. I had seena lot of pictures of him with a
good chunk of guys. This guyI hadn't looked at his Instagram. I
was just kind of going off thedating profile, all right. So it
was just the messages we had exchanged, he said, and done your stalker
due diligy. I did not.And then he also a tiny bit of
an eyebrow raise that he didn't listhis job in the in the actual profile.
(33:45):
It was kind of like a funnykind of thing like professional third wheel,
I think what it was, bumand so and I had San Francisco,
Adam, how dare you so?Just because we didn't get a tawny,
you know, it might be areason for that. And that should
(34:07):
have been a little bit of aneyebrow raice to me. The fact that
he didn't give a serious, youknow answer to the job question. All
right, And so we had talkedabout it and he said that he had
worked with kids with disabilities and hehad he was also like a DJ slash
producer, and so I was like, Okay, I'm not I wasn't trying
to judge or like assume the worstor think anything like. I wasn't trying
(34:28):
to think ahead and think like,oh, you know, kind of what's
what's that I was preconceived? No, yeah, I was like everybody maybe
that he just didn't want to puthis job like. So, I wasn't
trying to judge or assume. I'mkind of thinking of you learned from the
last date. Yeah, what doyou mean? Because you were judging heavily
with that last guy before I went. Yeah, we determined that part.
(34:49):
So I was trying to be openminded and I like the flow of the
conversation on at least the app Sobottom line. So we go to this
Mexican restaurant and out the bar.It was a bar, but I was
offering I had to work, sowe I get there and he actually also
let me know I have a beard, but I don't have any current pictures
(35:10):
on my profile, so heads up, that is a warning sign to me.
I don't know it was. Therewas a guy with a beard right
now. Well, but you wouldprobably put your picture of yourself on with
a beard, right I would,Yeah, because that's what you look like
right now. Yeah, why nothave something current? Think you'd want something
current? Yes, How hard isit to upload a new picture? It's
(35:35):
not. He just had the bestpicture of himself ever and he never wanted
to change. It's extremely easy.So that was a little funky. So
then when I get there, Isit down and I look at him,
and he does again. It's likeJames Harden didn't have a beard all of
a sudden, like whoa, butopposite. So the second time that I
see a guy and I'm like, you don't look anything like your fucking profile.
(35:58):
Like the beard was one thing, but he just the whole his whole
body type was a little bit different. So he went beard on, yeah,
beard on, and literally like itwas just he just looked completely different.
So eventually I realized that those picturesfrom the profile were three years and
older older three years plus older.Okay, so from twenty twenty or twenty
(36:20):
twenty one, when he was younger, pre pandemic photos basically pree pandemic photos.
And then I found out the prePandemic twenty. He was, no,
not that bad, but he wasa former actor. He eventually told
me he was a former a formeractor, yes, so he was never
an actor like you know him fromMake It such things as what guy I
(36:42):
remember eight in the background of anOlympic commercial. I think he did move
to a different country to film ashow of some sort. But yeah,
yeah, right, I did showsome sort that he can I did.
I did, lady over here,I I did, look, I did.
We did get there, so Iget, you know, I guess
(37:02):
I watch your IMDb bro hand itover and so well I didn't ask at
the time, should have, so, you know, I get there and
then he was like, oh,it's this bad, and I'm like no,
no, like the beard, Iwas like no, no. I
was like, see, I'm glad. I'm glad I shaved mine. So
I was at least one of Imade like this stupid joke, right,
And he was like, oh,yeah, but don't don't girls just get
(37:22):
that lasered now? Like I mean, if you had any here, wouldn't
you just laser it? And Iwas just kind of like, oh,
I was like yeah, probably.I'm like I can't really like I don't
wouldn't afford it. He's like, but isn't it really just cheap now to
do it? Are you really pressingthe line call me dude? He's like,
come on, dude, like youcould do it right, And I
was like, oh, dude,do we have another build or breeze situation
(37:44):
going right? Yeah? It waslike he could have called you bro.
Yeah, I know, right. So so he's a dude. And then
he kind of turned red and Ithink he realized he called me dude,
but I didn't call him out,and he just didn't say anything. So
I just like, okay, Andso I think, you know, within
the three seconds there is like athree second thing you kind of know when
you see somebody if you're attracted toor not. You guys heard that rule,
(38:05):
the three second rule, but youmeet somebody. I hadn't heard of
that, but I guess I waseating a skittle off the floor five second
rule, so I had already kindof It wasn't lust at first sight.
There was nothing effort, but Iwas like, well, maybe okay.
I was like, maybe Rihanna, maybe I've also heard of that turning as
well over time with certain people.Oh my god, yes, that's so
true. Also, so I waslike, Okay, so maybe that's not
(38:28):
good, but maybe I'll grow tolike, you know, so maybe his
personality will be cute. But itwasn't. He was shave the beard all
you want, but the personality isnot getting any better. He was he
was, and I will say I'mnot he was. He was sweet like
there was I don't think he wouldhurt a butterfly, right, Like,
I don't think he would. Hewasn't purposely like, so he started kind
(38:51):
of asking what standard is that hewouldn't hurt a butterfly? What does that
have to do with dating a guy? Like No, I'm just saying like
it wasn't like the other guy thatwas like a complete snob as like,
It's just it was a different kindof differences, right, No big d
energy from this, I have thatmuch. But so then he started talking
about He's like, wow, soyou drive, like you said you were
(39:13):
driving from Orange County, Like wheredo you live? And I'm like,
oh, Seal Beach. She waslike, wow, I used to work
in Anaheim. Isn't that like rightnext to it? And I said,
oh no, no it's not. They're not near each it's a geography buff
So no, Wh's is fine, which is fine? And I was like,
oh yeah. And then so Iwas like, yeah, they're probably
but good half an hour or fortyminutes apart, depending on traffic. I'm
(39:35):
more near the beach. Anaheim isInland yep. Yeah, well I mean
it's all part of La County.Oh boy, And I said no.
No. I was like, that'swhy you said it's Orange County because Orange
County and La County are different. He was like, oh, you know,
I did it a girl from OC. She'd get so mad at me
when I would say that it wasthe same thing. And I'm like,
(39:55):
oh, because they're not the samething. Anybody from there, especially from
the Orange County will definitely tell youthat they're not the same thing. They're
not the same thing. Is hefrom out here from state? Ten years
from out of state, but tenyears he's been here? Is it that
big long enough to know? Isit Is it that No? The question
Adam is should it be that bigof the deal. The answer to that
(40:15):
is no, is it that bigof a deal? Unfortunately? Yes?
A three. Do you really feellike there's a huge difference between because I
used to live in Wittier. Iwas like right on the border. So
I was in I was the inbetween yah La County. That's like La
Murata. I think turned into like, oh see at some point, like
(40:37):
if you pass Beach Boulevard over there, like do I turn to a different
person just crossing the street. Hey, but I'm just I'm Seal Beach and
Anaheim and l A are not neareach other. I will say a Seal
Beach and long A Long Beach istechnically La County. It is not technically
it is. I am okay,it is La County. I see,
(40:58):
I am next to Long Beach.I am on Actually you're on the border.
I am actually on the total border. I mean you're not like in
a gang or something. Is itthat big of a deal what territory is
coming from. It was just thefact that he was just trying to explain
to me that they're the same, that like Anaheim, Steel Beach, La,
They're all the same. I'll putit equality, man, I'll put
it that, at least for me, wouldn't necessarily be a deal breaker.
(41:21):
I was like, Oh, that'sunfortunate, but we can break that out
of you, so that wouldn't befor me, wouldn't be a deal a
deal breaker. It was just theunderstanding part. It was semantics. You
were comprehension. Is that a petpeeve of yours or something? Comprehension?
No, just somebody kind of lumpingthem all together but not understanding what I'm
(41:43):
saying. So eventually and then sowe were just weren't you weren't vibing,
and that kind of underscored it alittle bit. So, but then later
on we started talking about work.He was like, okay, so you're
driving from Anaheim to Burbank and I'mlike, I don't work in Burbank.
I work in Sherman Oaks. Andthen he was like, oh, yeah,
I forgot. I just assumed, because like we had talked about,
iHeart that you just worked there. And I'm like, no, I told
(42:05):
you I work down the street. So he wasn't like really like, oh,
you don't work at the Pinnacle building, you bump, you loser,
you don't work. You don't workbeautiful Bride building with Samorrow and Seacrest who
never even comes in here. No, I work at a bank building next
to l Playo. So it wasjust the it's just the it just like
wasn't clicking. And I was like, I don't live in Anaheim. I
live in Seal Beach. And hewas like, oh yeah, I just
(42:28):
you know, like I said,I mean, I just think it's the
same. And I'm like, soyour first conversation, you immediately were at
an impass like okay, yeah,it was we're not connected. There was
an element of like, you know, like, oh, you said,
you said you grew up in cOver City, right, and I said,
no, I grew up in Compton. Those are in LA but those
are two completely different cities. SoI'm not saying that the contracts between Seal
Beach and Anaheim are the contracts betweenthose two, but from that standpoint,
(42:51):
I understand what you mean. Itwas just like the listening part, like
he really wasn't listening. Like thatwas it. And this was probably like
the third or fourth conversation we hadkind of talked about work. He why
he wasn't a DJ anymore. Heactually was going back to school, he
was he worked, you know,so and I was like, okay,
so it was interesting kind of justlearning, you know, about that.
He was still stuck on you gettinglaser treatment, like what's the big deal
(43:15):
literally a dual breaker for him, apparently so he so anyway, so and
then he just like I kind ofhad made a joke. I'm like,
oh, I can tell you thatI work in sherman oacause I'm like,
I don't feel like you're going tomurder me. I don't feel like you're
going to murder me. And hewas like, well, I mean who
knows, and he like did likea woman wants to joke about on the
(43:36):
first date with a guy, hugelike laugh, like hearty laugh. And
I didn't like the laugh. I'like I think Dohmer did the same thing
on a date once that I heard. And I didn't love that. You
know, I don't say you don'tsay huh because no, but there's certain
there's certain dark humor that I dolike not like no you have the context
(43:57):
always comes into play with things likethat. And I didn't love. I'd
be offended, be like, I'mnot murder material for you, like what's
up? Like you wouldn't take meout? It was just not And then
so that kind of gave me likea little like it like like Osco like
not a good feeling. I waslike, okay, all right, this
is coming. This is weird. So exactly, no, no, just
(44:17):
internally. And so the bill cameand I was like, do you want
to go have these? Because I'malready knowing that I'm never going to see
him again, right, and hewas paying for the whole thing and get
the hell out. I probably shouldthrow down two twenties. And because he's
not really working, so I probablyshould just took it. So I so
the bill came, He's like,oh, sure, yeah, let's go
have these. Thanks, And hewas like, wait, no, I
(44:39):
should I'm going to get it.I'm like okay. I'm like I'm not.
I don't want to be disrespectful andsay like no, you know.
So I'm like, okay, noproblem. The least I can do is
pay for this since I'm going tokill you later. And then so and
then so we kind of talked aboutsports. Oh, he didn't know what
the suns were. I left that. I let that go. I let
(45:00):
that go. I wasn't mean aboutit, though, I would hope,
not realizing that I know the worldthat we live and work in. There's
one thing he did like, notknow that sports talk radio is a thing.
But if certain people don't know aboutsports or certain teams. I wouldn't
hope that against it. I can'tblame the guy for not knowing about the
Phoenix. We talk about them.Ever, you didn't hold up Brudge.
(45:22):
I was like, Okay, that'sfine. They're from Phoenix. Relevant want
a championship. He's a charge aswell too. Just watch where you throwing
bullets at, you know, becausethey might bounce off that window and come
back at you. You know,I've been a glass ass or something.
We're telling you. So he wasa Chargers fan. His dad was a
season ticket holder. So he didtalk about that, and I didn't judge.
(45:43):
So he does know about teams I'venever won. Yea experience. And
then so he had he's like,I've heard of sports talk radio. I
know it's a thing. Like hesaid that. I'm like the concept of
it you talk compared to that,it's sport. Compared to the other people
that dates, you know, thisis a step up. So yeah,
where do you find these cars? You know? So anyways, anyway,
(46:07):
so then we walk out and thenhe was like, oh, walk you
to your car. I'm like,oh no, I'll walk you to yours.
I'm like, fuck you, I'mnot going to show you what my
car, you know, yeah, mister killer over here. And so I
so we walked to his car andhe opens the door. He was like
get in the fuck sorry then andthen you hit him with the taser was
and I was like, Natal,I'm good he get in? Get in?
(46:31):
Wow? Was it a rape?Man like? No, it was
like it was a new car.Was it twenty twenty four or something an
day or whatever? What's happening now, wait a second, this took a
drastic turn. Get in, Getin that work. I want to take
you to some other place. Justget in. No, No, we
when we walked out, he waslike, oh, you have to go,
and I'm like yeah, I haveto go to work because I'm like
already done. I'm like I needto work before I work, I need
(46:52):
to log in whatever. So it'slike it was be coming towards like the
end of the date. So that'swhy I was like, I'm walking to
your car and then I'm gonna getthe fuck out. So when he was
like get in, I was likeI'm good. I was like no,
no, I'm good. He waslike okay, I mean I was just
gonna take you to your car.And I'm like, oh, I'm just
across the street. I'm just goingto cross and go. He's like oh
yeah, He's like, or Iwas gonna murder you. I mean,
who knows. I actually kind ofthink you might have dodged a bullet.
(47:16):
He may have killed you. Areyou kidding me? Get in? Get
in? It's one thing if yougot like a super U with Paul Walker.
He's like, hey, get inthe car, like I even still
I don't know, but it's creepy. No, still, I don't care.
How hot he might be doesn't meanthat he's any less of a threat
or anything like like oh, sure, why not? You can do it,
(47:37):
but this other guy can't. Therewas no plan all of a sudden,
just get in and that's like we'regoing to some other place for no,
get in. That's a threat.It was weird and it's a threat.
Said it like a golden rechiever, like get in, and I'm like,
no, that's what freaking buffalo Billwas doing. And I'm good.
(48:00):
And then he was like, oh, they made that murder joke and he
was like, oh yeah, thesecond murdering joke right second one. Yes,
those guys just awkward. No,he would know he was attractive.
He was a former little DJ producer. He had like I said, he
had looked cute on his little profile. He was attractive. He not that,
not that day. Maybe it threeyears before. Oh oh my god.
(48:22):
And then sorry to backtrack, buthe did show me his Instagram because
he was like, oh, likethis is when I went to art wherever
he went right and it said hislast name on his on his profile.
So we were talking about tattoos.I think a little bit later on he
was like, yeah, so Ihad my last name tattooed on my ribs.
And I was like, oh,but just in case you forget dumb
(48:43):
ass, Like, what's the problem. So I said, I was like,
oh, you have blank on yourlast on your ribs. How did
you know my last name? Atackingthe box? And I was like,
you showed me your Instagram. Ohyeah, that has my last name.
I started laughing. I'm getting likeMegan's vibes, getting Predator vibes over here.
(49:04):
The how so how it ended? You're alive? So I was like,
thank god. So I so Iwas like, hey, I'm like
this was so fun. Thank youfor lunch. He was like, yeah,
so do you want to do thisagain? Did you guys see Up
the movie? It was that herides in with the little dog from Up.
Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.He reminded me of that, like
(49:27):
a little blonde version of that, and so he, you know, he
was like, yeah, I doyou want to do this again? And
this is where I fucked up.I was like, sure, why not?
Because I was like, I don'tknow if you throw me in the
car in the trunk. Now we'rein a it was light, but who
knows, you know, fucking hasTaser's knee and throat, you know.
So I said yeah. He waslike what am I know? Something sprang
(49:51):
in the air and I said well. He was like, well, what
do you want to do? AndI was like, oh, I don't
know. We can maybe go tothe one up like a bar up the
street, or I was it cancome the seal like I just was throwing
things. Oh sure. He waslike, well then you let me know
what works for you and I'm likecool. Then he threw a Brianna at
me because I said, you know, throw the ball. I'm like,
you know, like cool, mythank you. So I will take that
into consideration. So there's this partat the end of a Jurassic Park where
(50:15):
Ellie's like telling herself to run, run, So I thank god I did
run. So then I went towork and then I was like, I,
well, I'm never going to seethis guy again. So I did
message him and I was like hey, I was like, thank you.
