LA Sports and streaming on the iHeartRadio WAP.

Gas terrible person, he's the worst.

The pipes, the pipes, the pipe.

Speaker 4 (00:40):
He was not of an age, but for all time.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Don to yukes. Petros and Money five seventy LA Sports.
We're live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app. No Dodger Baseball
tonight instead. Gaalpin Motors Broadcast Booth gets going again tomorrow
after a day off in San Francisco. They'll play ten
straight beginning tomorrow, seven of them against the San Francisco Giants.
Three up there, four down here between those two series,
three at Dodger Stadium against the Phillies, who have been

(01:09):
on a bit of a hot streak. Themselves. Padres lost
last night, So the Dodgers got a three game lead
now over San Diego in the NL West, with these
sixteen games left to play.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
It's a very exciting time here in the world of
great sports talk. Because sports talk we've got a lot
to celebrate. The Dodgers sweep of the Colorado Rockies. I
don't know if we're supposed to act like they're really
good because they finally beat a team they were supposed
to beat, so awesome, right, like when the Angels swept.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
Them, that's right, But you know, they did split in
Colorado when we were like, how the hell do they
split in? That was kind of the Angels Rockies back
to back, right, was kind of the beginning of what
the hell is going on with this team?

Speaker 4 (01:53):
Yeah, and then Pittsburgh swept them, right, and now they
are three games up. Probably he's still headed for the
wild card. Living in the nineties, headed for the wild
wild West of Guys. I sold it, and we're gonna
We're gonna work with our partners here. But I think
there's been some stability even though it's the Rockies, and

(02:14):
I think people are hopeful again because we are on early.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
Today hopeful music at noon.

Speaker 4 (02:25):
Hopeful music at noon, And speaking of hope, Matt, we
have a very special guest that is going to join
us on today's show in our final hour.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
Big thank you to our big boss, the opponent, Paul Corvino,
who is close personal friends with one of the finest
actors of his generation, Hueye in Dead Calm, a great
movie A Hole in Titanic. Remember his name, the great

(03:06):
Billy Zayne. He's got a film coming out in a
little over a week pee and he has decided to
hop on the Petros and Money Show.

Speaker 4 (03:14):
To promote it. We don't often talk to actors, but
when we do, we make idiots of ourselves.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
That's a true statement.

Speaker 4 (03:24):
So we are looking forward to talking to Billy Zaye,
who's got a real high brow super actor movie coming
out called Waltzing with Brando about a certain time in
Marlon Brando's life. And Marlon Brando one of the most
iconic actors of the twentieth century, along with Orson Wells.

(03:46):
You's got to be a big, fat guy. He's really
weird and gluttonous to be one of the great actors
the twentieth century.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
Now was you?

Speaker 4 (03:54):
Louis just missed out, Louis missed out Triumph, and Jimmy
Stewart skinny too, skinny. Uh uh. So we are going
to have Billy Zaine on, who apparently just super nailed
the Marlon Brando role and is getting a lot of
a lot of a lot of international movie love for it.

(04:16):
And the movie is going to be in wide release
on the nineteenth of this uh this month, so about
a week from now, and we're going to talk to
our friend Billy Zane, this cool guy we should listen
to in our final hour about waltzing with Brando. Now,
I don't want to say this when Billy Zaine was on,
uh or you know, maybe he's listening. I don't know,

(04:39):
but we got into a little bit of an Andy
Garcia situation with Tim Kats, our executive producer, regarding this.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Well, Kate's I think the difference series.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
I want to s before you tell me the difference, Matt,
I do want to say, you know, it's almost automatically
ingrained in Tim. If it's somebody, you know, he books
the show right right, And if it's somebody and they're
like monosyllabic or something, we get after him pretty bad.

(05:19):
Like a great guest, you know. And if if we
book somebody onto the show and that person is monosyllabic
or something like that, you know what he's thinking.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
Deep down, like he guys, stop it Lane, huh?

Speaker 4 (05:35):
And and like you said, this was booked through Paul Corvino,
the Big Boss, who I wish I could see out at,
you know, the smokehouse for drinks with Tim Kates. I
don't think it's happened yet.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
Doesn't know my name, he knows your name. I'll put
money on that.

Speaker 5 (05:54):
So you're saying I'm rooting for this interview to not go, Well, No,
that's not what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
And how this differs from Andy Garcia is Kate's doesn't
know who Billy Zain is. Like legitimately, I don't think
he has any idea who Billy Zaine is.

Speaker 4 (06:12):
Your victory all toward Andy Garcia personal and Laker base,
Yes and unfounded.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
You can't show up late with your dumb ass beret
on backwards and then walk up into the fifth row.

Speaker 4 (06:24):
If you don't like a backward beret, I suggest you
don't check out Billy Zayin on Wikipedia.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
That's a good point. He is a big backward berat guy.

Speaker 4 (06:33):
That's a great He's got a kangle like Samiel Jackson
on there as well as he does Nino Brown.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
No, I think Kate's legitimately if we started throwing out
Billy Zayne movies, I don't think he would have. I mean,
how many Obviously he seemed like you've seen Titanic. You
know who Billy Zain is? Which characters he was Kate
Winsley's guy like in the the the highbrow guy that
hates He's the bad guy that hates DiCaprio. Okay, okay,

(07:00):
do you know who that is? Do you remember or no?
I don't remember the Karen's name. No, no, no, bad
guy in the movie.

Speaker 4 (07:06):
Okay, character's name is Billy Zay.

Speaker 5 (07:08):
Ah. Now I know he is Billy Zaying and Zulander.
He is Billy's a. I've never seen Zulander Zulander two. Okay,
I've never seen Zulander two either.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
How does that happen?

Speaker 4 (07:21):
His first movie was Back to the Future.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
Oh, he plays Biff. He is in Biff's Crue. I
believe one off one offs he's in biffs Crue. His
second movie was Critters, not exactly a Lightweight. His third movie,
Matt and I's Favorite Dead Call Death by Flair Gun
phenomenal film.

Speaker 4 (07:42):
Back to the Future two, where he re reprised his.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
Role as Biffs car Biff's crue.

Speaker 4 (07:48):
Match was his name? Memphis Bell?

Speaker 2 (07:52):
Oh dude, the Superstar cast with Conic of Memphis Bell. Yes,
and Zane is part of that and modiin mod Conic
Sha asked exactly.

Speaker 5 (08:03):
Now, wait a second, I just googled him and he
says he's in Tombstone.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
Yes, dude, yeah, he plays the actor exactly. He's the
actor and he plays the actor. Dude.

Speaker 3 (08:13):
Oh, I know who Billy's.

Speaker 4 (08:15):
Yeah, there we go. Okay, Yeah, I'm excited about.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
This all right, big time.

Speaker 5 (08:19):
Billy's taking Billy's aines on the show from Tombstone.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
See, there we go. Just had to find the right
one for Kates.

Speaker 4 (08:27):
I mean I didn't like the disrespect. No, So now
we're okay with this.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
I think, well, I mean that's up to Kates. That's
up to Kates because he didn't book it and it
was it wasn't. I think Kates is okay. When when
we're like, hey, can we put this person on? You know,
so and so asked he's fine. But I think it's
the idea that.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
We were texted about it from the Big Boss and
he wasn't on the text.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
I wasn't even a loop did in exactly as opposed
to the Big Boss texting the producer who runs the
show and saying, Hey, that's.

Speaker 4 (08:58):
A proper protocol, a proper, proper channel.

Speaker 2 (09:01):
You know how this show is laid out. Do we
have time for Billy Zane? Does that work today? Or
have you booked you know, Steve Jaeger to come on
and talk about the Yeah, and off they talk. One
of the stunt men, Rick Monday's roommate, This is Rumy exactly.

Speaker 4 (09:19):
I think that the proper thing that we should have done, Matt,
when we started getting u text from our big boss
about Billy Zane and Tim say we're gonna loop in
our producer, the great Tim Kates.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
That's a great point, too little, too late. Instead we
were so you're saying worthy eight holes one day instead,
I met. I can only imagine the text with.

Speaker 4 (09:43):
Yes, Boss, we'll do it. Absolutely. That's the time.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
I think that's accurate.

Speaker 4 (09:47):
I love Billy zaying he's Greek.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
That's exactly right, that's exactly how it went. If you
like Kates, I can share some of the texts with you. Oh,
I can't wait.

Speaker 4 (09:55):
You want some dramatic background music for this too? It's
only changed like twenty times.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
Yeah, exactly, here we go, guys. Uh buh buff, but wow,
this is really long and I got on there quick.
You did. My friend Billy zaying the actor. Uh, Titanic
and dcom or any other movie about a boat sinking
has a movie coming out. It's true Dead Call has

(10:20):
a movie coming out where he plays Marlon Branda looks
exactly like him. Can we put him on your show
this week? He's coming to see me Friday afternoon without work, Petros? Immediately,
I love him. He's creak Corvino.

Speaker 4 (10:31):
Oh surprised, Petro.

Speaker 6 (10:32):
I love him.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
He's great Friday afternoon. Is Friday afternoon good? Or do
the Dodgers getting the way? Petros? I believe I was driving,
so I am not part of this early and now
you know otherwise I immediately would have responded for whatever you want, Boss,
you call it. You just you come down. I'm gonna
sit out. You take over, Uh, Petros, I'll be in Utah,
but still on the show. Is there another day. I'd

(10:53):
love to have you guys live in studio. Thursday we
have a long show, and then I immediately get in
with three bang bang bang.

Speaker 4 (11:01):
I want to be part of this conversation. Yeah enough
for that exactly.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
We'd love to have him whenever you want to put
them on. That's a legitimate text for me. Thursday, we're
going to Thursday Night Football.

Speaker 4 (11:14):
We're super excited to have him on.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
So that would be a two until five pm show.
Every other show this week is three to six going
to Dodger Baseball. Petros making sure the Big Boss doesn't
think I'm just blowing smoke.

Speaker 4 (11:28):
That is accurate, Thanks Petros. Well, because I was wrong.
I thought we had a longer show today. I forgot
about the Thursday night football.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
You have the double source, Matt, I mean, what are
you doing?

Speaker 4 (11:39):
No, because I was wrong at first I said we
had a long show Thursday, and we don't. We're flex back.
Oh that's right, Yes, that's why I said, right.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
Uh. He then I believe the Cats. He then I
believe sent to Texas that was supposed to go to Billy. Yeah,
okay that He then asks, are you guys on Tomorrow
and Thursday Petros with the quick yes, sir, oh jeez,
come on. And then I couldn't let that. What do
you think I didn't let I couldn't let that stand alone.
I put yes three to six tomorrow, two to five Thursday,

(12:09):
coming with more information than Petro's had, like, hey, check
me out.

Speaker 5 (12:12):
Hey, Matt, do me a favorite. Hold the screen and
go to your left and see how quickly Petro's responded
to his text.

Speaker 4 (12:16):
Was it within two minutes?

Speaker 2 (12:18):
Let's see? Uh? It was? In his defense case, it
was sent at one o seven. Petros replied at one
oh seven, Oh my god, and I replied at one
o seven bang bang bang bing bang boom.

Speaker 4 (12:35):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
He then writes, let me see if I can get
him in studio. I told him you want him on
because he's Greek. He loved that. Petro sent the Greek flag,
and it's true that was a one o eight one
oh eight exchange. Uh, much later than he said. I'm
gonna bring Billy's aim down tomorrow and some other things

(12:57):
I think I can read. And then I write. Petros
writes perfect, and I write, thank you, Paul, this will
be fun.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
Say this will be fun.

Speaker 4 (13:11):
It's gonna be so much fun when we talked to
Billy Zane.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
He then writes, my mistake Thursday in the four o'clock hour,
not tomorrow. I'm traveling. It's all messed up. That was
at eleven oh two. At eleven oh three, I wrote, Okay,
that still works, just fine.

Speaker 5 (13:24):
You guys are like hanging on your phones.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
Oh yeah, And then he writes, do you see how
much he looks like Brando in that photo?

Speaker 4 (13:30):
Petros?

Speaker 2 (13:30):
That's eleven o four, Petros eleven oh four, Yes, a
real contender. Oh my god, I write it's wild. At
eleven o four, Paul writes, no one way ticket to Pelucaville.
And I can't let him think I don't know on
the waterfront, so I send two boxing gloves. All of
this happens within a one minute span at eleven oh four.

Speaker 4 (13:49):
And you didn't even understand those on the rot waterfront references,
did you?

Speaker 5 (13:52):
Katesde I saw that in my film New r Class
at u c L A right petrels could have been.

Speaker 2 (13:59):
He then writes the original opponent and we let that
sit for how long?

Speaker 4 (14:04):
A minute?

Speaker 2 (14:04):
No? An hour and a half. Woo some balls of
you guys are He then how about this? This shows
some real patients on our part. He then writes can
he call in instead? And then pat said no, right
twelve twenty nine, Petro's rites at eleven, we're just going
through our our back and forth boss of how this

(14:27):
all is about to come to be. At four thirty pm,
the opponent has walked into the studio.

Speaker 4 (14:31):
P oh gosh, he's there.

Speaker 2 (14:33):
Yes, so we're going we're going through how this all,
how this all came together.

Speaker 4 (14:37):
Introduce him to Kates.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
I know, but we need headphones so he can hear Petus, Well, Kates,
can he call in tomorrow? That comes at twelve twenty nine,
and we show great patients waiting eight minutes to respond
to the big boss. You say yes, and then I
write sure. But we didn't look as desperate there because
we waited nine minutes before. We were like, yes, that'll work.

(15:00):
What's the call in number? We give that to him
within a minute, and then he tells us he's all
set and today we are now going to be off
and now he's checking in are we square for today?
As the opponent has sat down Paul Corvino. Corvino's in
studio are.

Speaker 4 (15:19):
Big Deo and El Presidente of the biggest cluster that
iHeartMedia has a real executive.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
A man who has set up what we to believe.
What we are to believe is going to be an
interview with Billy zaying right around four twenty four thirty
ishes what we're told is that correct? That is correct,
and you're We're good. He's excited. He wanted to be
here in person. We'll get him in the future here
and from the movie. We have a Greek festival. I
would say, wait to see how this interview goes. Sometimes

(15:49):
we can really, we can really, you know, we really
trip over our own feet in these.

Speaker 4 (15:53):
Ways we have. We've interviewed a few actors over the years,
and Matt and I have a little bit of a
quick like sitcom like low trigger yeah, things like that,
like if the guys like, you know, hey, I just
flew in from New York and my arms are tired.
You know, we really want to endear ourselves to the arts.

Speaker 2 (16:11):
We'll put it this way, big Boss. We've had Kevin
Bacon once once, Jack Black once, uh that was good
Slash once, Michael Bolton once, Ice Cube once, uh, Brad Paisley,
Billy d Williams once once. Yeah. See what we're getting

(16:34):
at here, see where it's going.

Speaker 4 (16:36):
Eddy Money. On the other hand, there's been on yeah.

Speaker 2 (16:39):
Multiple five times, loved us Thomas. Thomas filled in once
a cost on the show. Yes, so so you know, Okay,
thank you. I'm sure Bill, Billy's a friend of mine.
I'm sure Billy will fit right in. Okay, all right,
Well we hope we don't want to ruin a relationship.
This can be a horse that you're there's a bull.
You're right in here. It's possible. We're gonna try, though,

(17:02):
apologize for going No, no, no, that's I'm Tim. Yeah,
I was doing this.

Speaker 4 (17:08):
I'm Tim over here. He's embarrassed that he never saw Zoolander.
I think is what it is.

Speaker 2 (17:13):
Yes, he's never seen zooland has not seen Zoolander. Sheltered
life growing up, Yes, very sheltered, Yes, exactly U. The
one question we do have is we were just going
through our text chain. Did the quickness in our response
to your your queries via tacks? Did we come off
a little desperate? Did it make us look look desperate?
It was impressive. I've lost a little little respect for it.

(17:36):
But but I but I appreciate the effort. Yeah, and
I knew we should have waited. We were talking like
we probably should have waited a couple of minutes. You know,
we don't want to come off like.

Speaker 4 (17:44):
You don't you think big boy sits on it for
like four minutes and then t.

Speaker 2 (17:48):
Is that how it works?

Speaker 4 (17:49):
I don't know. I don't know. I saw it in
there and I was like, yes, yes, whatever you want done,
phone in person today tomorrow. Well, do you know Billy
and Greek ISLI, I'm gonna say that. I'm gonna call
him that. That's what we're gonna do.

Speaker 2 (18:02):
It's gonna be great. Oh you know, I love you guys,
We love you.

Speaker 4 (18:06):
We love you, and we love a naked Nicole kidman
and dead calm even more.

Speaker 2 (18:09):
Oh yes, one of the fine fine moments and cinematic story.
Just saw that movie again recently. It's a really good foo.
It holds up Billy's very scary at it death by
flair gun, you know, by flair gun one of the
great moments. Sam Nellon, No, the great exactly right.

Speaker 4 (18:23):
Lit up his face like a pumpkin.

Speaker 2 (18:25):
Yes, right, Billy had like back to back sinking ship movies. Yeah,
so if he asked me to go out selling stay
away exactly do it? Well, thank you for setting it up.
We're very much looking forward to I'm excited to hear
it all right for four twenty ish, right, that's what
we're being told for twenty four to thirty ish. I

(18:47):
think so I gave him the info. You guys, that's
Tim Kates. Tim Kates is the logistics guy. So he's
is that right, Kate's.

Speaker 4 (18:53):
That's me boss over here. Yep. He's also the host
of Marongo Casino Dodgers on dat Yes, oh wow, hand
scam yeah, sax and Kate's and the AM during the
Dodger season.

Speaker 2 (19:02):
Yeah, extra money for the cluster, you know, postseason exactly right.
I've got to go work and keep the lights on here,
but have have fun and then looking forward to the interview.
We will there he goes the opponent.

Speaker 4 (19:18):
Thank you, boss.

Speaker 2 (19:21):
A great and a great New Yorker, Yes, a great
New Yorker.

Speaker 4 (19:26):
All right, We'll be back with three things Thursday.

Speaker 3 (19:34):
We've made it even easier to take LA Sports with
you this summer.

Speaker 1 (19:38):
Make AM five seventy or your favorite AM five seventy
l a sports podcast a preset on the iHeartRadio using
Apple car Play or Android Auto road trip all summer
with La Sports whatever you say.

Speaker 4 (19:50):
Boss's money on when day? We uh, we didn't even teasday.
We're gonna have Billy saying today.

Speaker 2 (20:05):
But now everybody knows you better call in. Well, now
the boss is on the hook. So I hope Billy
calls in. I give you a don't We've embarrassed the
Big Boss. Probably not good for us.

Speaker 4 (20:19):
Well, we're on until five and then Marango Casino, Dodgers
on deck coming up. It is now time for Three
Things Thursday Frolling.

Speaker 1 (20:28):
One, three Thingsters.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
Three Things Thursday p to the NFL. As the NFL
has returned. The Chargers and Raiders will tangle on Monday
Night Football a late kick seven pm Pacific as it
is a double header of Monday Night Football on ESPN,
so we will be the late one. It'll be the
first of two installments. The second installment will come after
the bye week in week thirteen for the Raiders and

(20:59):
show Argers back here in Los Angeles, this first one
in Vegae. It's bit of a tough schedule here for
the Chargers to get the season started. Sixty five hundred
miles and an eleven hour flight to Brazil to face
the Chiefs. Then you got to go to Vegas and
face one of your arch rivals and the Raiders on
Monday Night Football. Then you get a home game against
your other divisional opponent, the Broncos, before flying across the
country to New York to get the season started. Three

(21:22):
road trips out of four weeks, and three all three
of your divisional opponents in your first four games can
really either set the tone for an incredibly successful season
or for an incredible hole that you would have to
dig out of. Of course, the Chargers already with one
win over the Chiefs, off to a great start, see
if they can double that up double with a victory

(21:43):
over the Raiders. And as I began my game prep
a couple days ago, this kind of jumped out at me.
You got Gino Smith, who we celebrated on Monday, watching
that game back and what Ship Kelly was doing with
him and the leading pass well leading passer behind Josh
Allen who just had that ridiculous fourth quarter, but three

(22:03):
hundred and sixty four yards averaging ten point six per
attempt looked great out there. Gino traded from the Seahawks
for a third round pick by the Raiders, given a
two year extension on top of the one year he
already had, and of course his chief target, because he's
a guy that still established himself as the best tight
end in football last year as a rookie with Aidan

(22:25):
O'Connell throwing him the ball, someone who of course got hurt.
But if he hadn't gotten hurt, I don't even know
if he's on a roster at this point, much to
Tim chagrin. He loved his chunky face and his pube stash,
but Aiden of course left a lot to be desired.
As soon as spy Tech the general John Spytech the
general manager, and Pete Carroll came in, they immediately set
their sights on finding a long term solution at that position.

(22:47):
Pete who of course helped Gino become the player that
many thought he always could be out of West Virginia
and Seattle, leading him to Pro Bowls there or helping
him to pro bles there, I should say, and then
bringing him to the Raiders where he has a great
first week. But we focus on brock Bauers, someone that
obviously many are intimately familiar with, You certainly are with
all of your time in college football, one of the

(23:08):
most productive tight ends, one of the most unique tight ends,
one of the great tight ends we've ever seen in
the history of college football, helping Georgia to a national championship.
And then he gets drafted number thirteen overall by our
friend Tom Tolesco. And he gets drafted number thirteen overall
despite the team having issues with their offensive line and

(23:29):
it being an offensive line deep class. Two offensive linemen
went in the next two picks after that, and despite
them needing a quarterback and six quarterbacks going off the
board in the first twelve picks to pick right ahead
of them. But something that we have talked about on
this show before, the a holary of Sean Payton, how

(23:51):
of all the coaches in the league, nobody likes to
talk about other teams and their decisions and the choices
they made, and how they couldn't possibly be as smart
as he, the great genius Sean Payton is.

Speaker 4 (24:06):
Now that Derek Carr is out of our periphery for
the time being, right, Sean Payton is your number one target.

Speaker 2 (24:16):
No doubt, no doubt. But it came to me as
I was watching Brock Bauers and just how impossible it
is to cover this guy. I mean, he is truly
one of the unicorns in the league, and he's only
played eighteen games in his career, and yet you watch
me like, I don't know what the hell you do
with that guy. And it happened all last year, and
it happened again in Week one before he had to

(24:37):
leave with a knee injury. Through two quarters and five minutes,
he already had one hundred yards one hundred and five
yards on five catches. Sean Payton told the story on
a podcast. I think it was when they were discussing
about bo Nicks and what a great rookie season he had,
and he shared how they lent Yeah, it was Chase Daniel,

(24:58):
that wonderful human being his podcast Out.

Speaker 4 (25:01):
Of a Zoo, Out of the Zoo, Good look at Chin.

Speaker 2 (25:05):
He he tells him the Jets are on the clock,
and I say to George, George Peyton, the general manager,
call the Jets, call them. We don't necessarily want and
he says how he I only had to see bow
Nicks throw sixteen passes and I knew that was the
It's This is the same conversation where he takes the

(25:25):
shot at Caleb Williams, and how you know that they
probably wouldn't have taken Caleb. And this is all hindsight, right,
He's like, Jaden was our number one guy and bow
Nicks was our number two guys. Kind of how he
does this, He says, the Jets are still on the clock,
and I say to George, call the Jets. Just call him.
We don't want to move up unnecessarily a pick or two.

(25:46):
I don't want anything happening like Kansas City. Of course,
he's got to bring this up because you heard that
he was going to take Mahomes. He didn't know that
Kansas City was going to jump them and take them,
and they ended up taking I think Marshawn Lattimore in
that draft when Mahomes got taken, because he suspected them
Mahomes was going to fall on his lap and he
was like, I always knew that was going to be
the number one quarterback. So he already did that in
here too. Then it was like, call the Raiders. I

(26:10):
tell George, call the Raiders, tell them we might want
to move back. They didn't want to move up, and
we thought they were maybe interested in Nicks, interested in Nicks,
so there was this moment I said, we can stay put.
Let's let the Jets make their pick, and here we
are Peyton and Peyton played the Raiders, who still need

(26:35):
a long term quarterback by feeling them out, slyly taking
Las Vegas temperature on Nicks without revealing their hand. Hey,
we got over on to LESCo. We got over on
the Raiders. They couldn't possibly operate at the level that
we are operating. And yet here we are today as

(26:57):
I'm preparing to go to Las Vegas to call the
Chargers versus Raiders game, and I'm getting ready for the
Broncos in Week three, and I'm looking at bow Knicks
against the Titans, team with the number one overall pick
last year, took a quarterback in cam Ward and they
needed a receiver to drop a pass to save that

(27:17):
win for them. After bow Nicks threw for one hundred
and seventy six yards on four attempts, one touchdown, two interceptions,
a quarterback rating of sixty, while Chip Kelly and the
Raiders under Gino Smith and Pete Carroll threw for three
hundred and sixty four yards knocked off a New England

(27:38):
team in the early window on the East Coast that
everybody was picking to be their ten win team and
one of the four that get into the playoffs while
four others fall out and brock Bauers goes for one
hundred yards and three quarters. I would challenge the question,
would you rather have Geno Smith for the next three
years along with what looks to be the next great

(28:01):
receiving unicorn in the NFL and brock Bauers, or would
you rather have Bo Nicks, who played opposite the number
one defense in the league last season, operating in a
Sean Payton ball control offense for the next However many years,
we think bo Nix is going to be a quarterback,
and I don't think it's as apparent is maybe Sean

(28:23):
Payton thought.

Speaker 4 (28:24):
We have a beast chest out on a rookie deal.
Certainly who's playing well. I've learned that over the years, certainly,
but I don't think it's a very cut and dry thing.
Maybe not worthy of puffing your chest.

Speaker 2 (28:35):
Out, That's what I'm saying, taking their face and putting
it in the p that's on the carpet. Not worthy
of that kind of talk, which is what he was
doing with Diana Russini.

Speaker 4 (28:46):
And she feels like the Broncos are your new Raiders.

Speaker 2 (28:50):
I think they are.

Speaker 4 (28:52):
Gone.

Speaker 2 (28:53):
Yeah, it's just it's.

Speaker 4 (28:53):
Just gonna attack the Broncos freely.

Speaker 2 (28:56):
I feel like I can.

Speaker 4 (28:57):
You can beat that dead horse.

Speaker 2 (28:58):
Look, Carrolly used to come on this show every single
week and say, guys, what'sung we're going with now?

Speaker 4 (29:03):
Wasn't time?

Speaker 2 (29:03):
I mean it was great. There was a time two
three years worth every single week during the football season
talking about what music were playing. Isn't this great? USC's
winning national championships. We don't even broadcast their games. Come on,
It's time for the Pete Carroll renaissance, as opposed to
telling David Veasse you can have those two clowns throwing

(29:25):
the phone in his chest and never talking to us again.

Speaker 4 (29:28):
Hey, that's how it is.

Speaker 2 (29:30):
Second thing, p and maybe we'll just get to two
here real quick. It isn't I discovered this morning when
I got in my car after listening to the Dodger
game last night driving around. You know, listen, guys, here's
the thing. We're gonna have the Dodgers on and then
the next morning when everybody gets up to go to
work and five to seventy is gonna be on there,

(29:51):
and we got to make sure when it is, they
don't paunch out. And that's why we're bringing in Dan
and that's why we're gonna go get Colin, all right,
because I want people to stay with us when they
wake up after listening to the Dodgers and now before well,
that's what happened to me. I woke up Pee and
I got in my car to drive to the Bolt
to do my Chargers Weekly podcast, and Colin cowhard was on,

(30:15):
and as I was making my way up there for
an eleven o'clock appointment at about ten twenty am. This
is how you know the NFL is back, that conversations
like this exist on television or on radio. How long
is this kates? Little over a minute, little over a
minute on Dan Patrick. This is on Colin Cowherd. A

(30:38):
conversation that was birthed out of, I guess an earlier
segment he had with Greg Cosell, who comes on, I
believe to break down film and talk about what he
learned from the weekend that was. And it's only a
Colin Cosell, I think, one on one. So Jmack with
the News has to wait until that segment's completed, to

(31:02):
give his NFL opinions and maybe something some umbrage that
he may have taken with some of the things that
we're discussed between the two of them. That's the sad
Am I reading that right case? Okay, Kate says, yes,
So this is the NFL conversation I punched into when
I got into my car this morning.

Speaker 6 (31:18):
I thought, I heard you say, with traits and all
this stuff, is that talking.

Speaker 2 (31:21):
About Kate hold On? He's talking about Jordan Love. He's
that this is Jordan Love that they're discussing of the past.

Speaker 6 (31:26):
Don't I heard you say with traits and all this stuff?
Is that overall or just for certain things?

Speaker 7 (31:31):
No trades are size, mobility, arm, He's absolutely, I mean
he's got a great arm, top eight, super athletic, and
he's big.

Speaker 6 (31:43):
His traites are and are not Josh Allen. Are we
putting Jordan Love in like among the top ten quarterbacks
for sore?

Speaker 7 (31:48):
Now in terms of traits traits, okay, the best trades
in the league are Josh Allen, huge, huge arm, super mobile.

Speaker 6 (31:57):
Well, it's the best traits above.

Speaker 4 (32:00):
Okay.

Speaker 7 (32:00):
Traits yea, well, no, No, Mahomes has a huge arm, So
does her big enough the difference? Yeah, but you're talking
traits in terms about athletic ability. Mahomes is more athletic.
Justin's much more mechanical. That's an easy one. Every scout
will tell you that Justin is still a bit mechanical.
Mahomes is the opposite of mechanical.

Speaker 6 (32:20):
Malmes and his dad bod I mean, yes, mechanical, Yes,
but I.

Speaker 7 (32:23):
Thought he's not scoot Yeah, but he is a mechanical thrower.

Speaker 2 (32:30):
Wow, what is that? I don't know. That's why I
That's why I played it for you, because I have
the non player perspective. I need a player perspective to
walk me through what are the top five traits? How
do you determine who has the traits? What traits are.

Speaker 4 (32:53):
I may I'll say the same thing about it as
I said about the Ryan Clark generational talent thing. I mean,
you can sit there and excuse yourself from any conversation
by saying, well, this guy's big, strong and fast, and
he's got a great arm, but he just doesn't know
when and where to throw it. So unless you know
win and where to throw it, and you're really good

(33:14):
at that, then you probably don't have the traits to
play quarter back, like I don't. I don't don't.

Speaker 2 (33:20):
He's tall, he's athletic, he and I and I get it. Yeah,
if you were to say, can we build a quarterback
in a lab, you probably build Josh Allen. I get that.
That's that's kind of.

Speaker 4 (33:30):
A I probably want him a little more accurate.

Speaker 2 (33:32):
Yeah, but I don't understand the mechanical versus non mechanical versus.
It's not about a dad.

Speaker 7 (33:42):
Bod is the opposite of mechanical.

Speaker 6 (33:45):
Homes and his dad Bod. I mean, yes, mechanical yes, but.

Speaker 7 (33:50):
Scoot yeah, but he is a mechanical thrower.

Speaker 4 (33:55):
I mean, I remember when Herbert was being drafted, people said,
you know, he's not a path sir, right, he's a
throw rower. It's like, uh, okay, I don't know, you know.

Speaker 2 (34:08):
But hey, they got me intrigued. You know, I'm listening
to Dodgers Smoke the Rockies last night. I get that
joy when I get out of the car and then
I get back in.

Speaker 4 (34:18):
It's pretty good.

Speaker 2 (34:18):
And I get this.

Speaker 7 (34:19):
Maholmes is the opposite of mechanical.

Speaker 6 (34:22):
Holmes and his dad Bod. I mean, yes, mechanical, yes, but.

Speaker 4 (34:27):
Scoot.

Speaker 2 (34:28):
Yeah, but.

Speaker 4 (34:30):
Around, No matter how much you can scoot, no matter
how big you are, Uh, it's still those things are great,
but you still got to know when and where to
throw it. If you can't do that, you're not a quarterback.

Speaker 2 (34:45):
Just ask Sean Payton, he'll tell you.

Speaker 4 (34:47):
We know what we're doing.

Speaker 2 (34:49):
Those idiots they didn't have a clue. We're playing them
like a fiddle.

Speaker 4 (34:53):
Now. They got that bald tight end over there running
all over everybody.

Speaker 2 (34:58):
We got bow Nicks throwing two should have been three
picks in our opening week.

Speaker 4 (35:02):
We'll be ride back with some reaction here on a
crunchy Grip Thursday on The Patries and Money Show.

just go through the CVS receipt of people he doesn't like,
because it's getting to be massive. After your talk about I.

Speaker 2 (36:37):
Think Sean Payton has always been up there the remember
there is the bucket. Had I didn't I'm not. I mean,
there's a it's a fair it's a fair commentary.

Speaker 4 (36:46):
There were there's more, but I'm not gonna I mean,
there's more about the three things Thursday. I don't want
to be labor the point.

Speaker 2 (36:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (36:54):
Let Smith know that Nix is thirty seven years old,
just like Gino Smith. So he's also like a three
year thing.

Speaker 2 (37:00):
Here is that he was in college for six years.

Speaker 4 (37:05):
Uh, I'll leave the charger. Well, you know, there's a
lot of people that don't like the charge. Yeah, and
there's a lot of people yeah.

Speaker 2 (37:12):
Yeah, And I'm trying to be nice here. Yeah, I've
been nothing but complimentary.

Speaker 4 (37:17):
That's true, Matt. You tools must be tired from all
the ball polishing you did on the text with the
Big Boss. Two brown nosing bitches is what you are, true.

Speaker 2 (37:28):
Yeah, it's a little yeah. You know when you go
back and and read.

Speaker 4 (37:33):
It, Yeah, you don't feel as good about it as
you did in the moment.

Speaker 2 (37:36):
You really don't.

Speaker 4 (37:39):
But you know, if the CEO of the company wants
to book his friend on your show, you have to
pay attention to it.

Speaker 2 (37:44):
That's how we operate.

Speaker 4 (37:46):
He met Tim Kates though, so now I think we're
in a better place. Yes, Billy Zaying in the five
o'clock at four o'clock hour.

Speaker 5 (37:53):
How the meeting go there? Kate's it was cool. I said, hey, boss,
how you doing. Timmy's like, gu I know who you are? Jim,
I was like Nona, ah.

Speaker 4 (38:02):
I saw Billy's ain't outside of Stable Center. One time,
a roommate of mine worked for the guy that splits
tickets with Will Ferrell. He thought he had free tickets
to the game, but somebody else took the tickets without
my roommate knowing. Billy z Ain and a couple of
his friends were outside too. Apparently they weren't on the
guest list either. He was wearing a newsboy hat, big
framed glasses, a scarf, and pea coat. He looked like

(38:24):
he had gained some weight that was probably ten years ago.

Speaker 2 (38:29):
I mean, that's a real Andy Garcia look, pea coat, scarf, glasses.

Speaker 4 (38:34):
I'm gonna go to the Lakers dressed like a real Thespian.
True story. I met Billy z Ain once when I
worked on the Catalina Express. He asked how the seas were,
and I regret for not saying it was dead. Call
aah pe My mom is listening with me, and she
just said, man, there was a time where I would

(38:56):
have wrecked Billy Zaine's pelvis. Dude, I don't need this today. Well,
Billy is I think sixty fifty nine? Yeah, fifty nine.
There we go. Every once in a while we check
in with the show before us and read a text
about them. This was from the one o'clock hour. Fred

(39:18):
and Rodney are milking ned dry. Ned Coletti is losing
his voice. I did hear it was a lengthy interview.

Speaker 2 (39:26):
Twenty minutes is what we've been told.

Speaker 4 (39:27):
But I got my stool and bucking out for Billy Zaye,
so I'm not sweating it either.

Speaker 2 (39:32):
We're not going to keep it's Billy Zane, and we're
not going to keep him for twenty minutes.

Speaker 4 (39:37):
Are you sure?

Speaker 2 (39:38):
Pretty sure?

Speaker 4 (39:39):
We're gonna have to not get into Tombstone. Then we're
gonna have to promote the movie that he's doing.

Speaker 2 (39:44):
I think that's why he's coming on. He knows that
Waltzeene with Brando is tailor made for the Petros and
Money Show audience. We love Marlon Brando and we love
the Waltz.

Speaker 4 (39:54):
This is about our big show coming up next week
in the Desert. Matt We're going out to cal was
on everybody sign see everybody sign up for tickets? Is
that why we're not promoting it again?

Speaker 5 (40:05):
We already got our fifty listeners signed up and went quick.

Speaker 4 (40:07):
Well shouldn't we have more? Well there would be people
just come anyway.

Speaker 2 (40:12):
They should because just Tim said by his math, he
said eighty percent, so fifty eight percent. As we like, we.

Speaker 4 (40:19):
Also have football tickets. Another thing right this says I
want to hear from somebody from Oak Glen, Cherry Valley,
show me your lightning bolt, Beaumont, Paris.

Speaker 2 (40:33):
With the fifteen, you could even get some of those
San Diego communities. She shoot straight up at fifteen and
come see us banning.

Speaker 4 (40:41):
I know that's not in San Diego. Big anniversary coming
up for that All CIF award for Tim Kats. Just
saying we should throw an all CIF ninety six party

Speaker 2 (40:52):
Good case it's going to be thirty years ago. Kates,
you were all CIF. Wow, seems like yesterday, doesn't it.

Speaker 4 (41:02):
