from the Galpa Motors broadcast booth. First pitch just after seven,
Dodgers on deck at six. Get a little preview of
that and everything happening with the Dodgers last night, today
and then into the future. Is Otani. Shoy Otani has
been announced to be the starter for Sunday scheme against
the Washington National States. We'll get him backs. Very exciting.

(01:16):
In our very next secment.

Speaker 5 (01:18):
We talked about the big Juneteenth Event softball game at
Dodger Stadium. We talked about the early chet Stedman Salisbury steak.
We talked about Lebron's silence and Mark Walter's prerogative when
it comes to the future.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
It's the way that he wants to live of.

Speaker 4 (01:34):
The Los Angeles Lakers. Nobody can tell him what to
do because what he's doing he's doing for you.

Speaker 6 (01:40):
Don't get me wrong, I'm really nat sick. Evil tricks
is not my thing, but Lebron is such a bitch
it really gets me done.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
It's my prerogative.

Speaker 5 (01:56):
His words. The word of the day, all right, Matt.
Today word of the day is pe fowl. Yes, I
hope everybody's dogs are going crazy right now.

Speaker 4 (02:12):
We are your and your computer.

Speaker 5 (02:14):
We are your p fowl and pee cock and p
hen show of record.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
And it's not even close, Matt.

Speaker 5 (02:25):
We tell the tale of the great Developer from many
years ago, Sam Gabriel's developer, Lucky Baldwin and his wife's
arboretum in Arcadia and the gift of the one peacock
and one p hen to the Vanderlipp family, the Vanderlipp family,

(02:47):
the developers of the entire Palace Verdese peninsula, and Voila.
There is a big peacock population up on the hill. Now,
some people you go back up on the hill, they
like the peacocks. Some people find them to be great neighbors.

(03:08):
They think of them as exotic, think of themselves as
living in an exotic place. Other people do not feel
the same. Now, this is not unrelated, because it's all
related to what goes on in Temple City, Arcadia, Glendora,
Rolling Hills Estates, and so on. So one of the

(03:29):
towns on the hill, Rancho Palas Verdes, which is not
the one that had the peacock killer mat that we
covered so extensively fifteen years ago. That was Rolling Hills Estates.
Rancho Palas Verdes, where my father lives and I grew up,
is fed up with the annoying birds. This fall, our
PV will implement a rarely used program to trap and

(03:54):
relocate the population or some of the population of pea fowl.
And the birds have garnered a lot of hate. In
a meeting the other day, council person George Hill said,
they're running across the road all the time. They're gonna
be a war in the streets. I paraphrased that last

(04:15):
is well, he said that they're running across the road
all the time, and then I just added, they're gonna
be a war in the streets. H They don't want
to eradicate the entire PA foul population of Ranchi, Palace, Verdice,
Matt But the pa fowl are up thirty one percent
from last year.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
That's a big number.

Speaker 4 (04:35):
That's like one hundreds more.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
That's a big number.

Speaker 4 (04:38):
Now you'll be.

Speaker 5 (04:38):
Happy to know that any trapped p fowl will be
taken to farms and ranches in San Diego County, Ventura County, Palmdale, Fresno.
And it just gets worse and worse for these birds
and Bakersfield. It's like if you're going to the you

(05:01):
know farm in San Diego, you're like, all right, you
know Ventura, Nice Ocean Breeze, Palmdale or Fresnel, bakerl We
were right here on the hill, we were having a
great time. You go back up on the hill, and
now they sent me to Bakersfield. Expect me to listen

(05:22):
to this country music. It's hot here, Yeah, very hot
for my little beak. So big news Matt on the
that's going to start this fall the trap and relocate
and U. Usually how they trap the pea fowl is
with a mirror because they're very vain. You put like

(05:43):
a really nice, maybe golden crusted mirror. They stand in
front of it.

Speaker 4 (05:47):
Are you snatch them?

Speaker 3 (05:50):
That's how golden. It's got to be golden crusted.

Speaker 4 (05:52):
Golden round. It's like the one from.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
White Yeah. Here's my number. Number of the Day, Well.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
Number the Day is fifty. We are your filling the
blank show of record on a number of things. But
I would say when it comes to gambling, we don't
do a whole lot of the gambling talk. We do some,
but not all.

Speaker 4 (06:12):
I got five lead pipe, sure thing.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
Bit here we go. Man, I'm picking against the vixen.
Vixen of the year. Man, Number the Day is fifty.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
It is.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
I would say it's almost impossible. Actually it is impossibly
because nobody has ever won it. And MLB's Beat the
Streak has been along, it's been around for a while.
And beat the Streak as a game, by the way,
it's not a euphemism for anything. I actually played Beat
the Streak for a while. I think the longest run

(06:46):
I had was eleven days. I'm guessing Tim Kates, being
the seam head that he is, has tried it before.
It's played through the MLB app.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
Oh, this didn't vesta turn us onto this?

Speaker 3 (06:58):
Well that was that? No, that is it's a different one.
That's a game.

Speaker 4 (07:02):
Famous random player or something.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
That's like the perfect grid. Beat the Streak is like this.
You just all you have to do is pick a
player to get a hit that day in a game.
You can pick any player in Major League Baseball. So
you look through the matchups, where's there a crappy pitcher,
who has a crappy bullpen, who's a hot hitter right now?
And just every single day you've got to pick one
player that will get a hit that night. Like I said,

(07:26):
I think the law I had double digits once, but
it was like eleven or something like that. So here's
a dude named Io Tank is his nickname, and he
has got a fifty game streak going headed into Monday.

Speaker 5 (07:42):
Are those like the guys that bet on Angel Reese
to Messer first show, right, and then they all chant,
so he's got to play then, Oh, it's the best.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
He's got a fifty. He's got fifty in a row going. Now,
if you hit fifty seven, that's the magical number. If
you hit beat the streak on beat the streak, and
it's through Major League Baseball, it's it's free. So it's
not like it's a uh, it's not like it's uh,
you know, you're not you're not any man or anything

(08:17):
like that exactly. And I think the idea behind fifty
seven is Joe Demashio, of course, has the famous fifty
six game hit streak. So if you get fifty seven,
you're one better than Demashio and you win five point
six million dollars. WHOA, yes, five point six million bucks.
How far he's got fifty, he's got seven to go,

(08:40):
And this is how his streak came to an end.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
Oh, here's the pitch up.

Speaker 7 (08:46):
It'll be shallow, no man land for Cam Smith.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
Thirty be out.

Speaker 7 (08:52):
It's second is Schumann had to hold up.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
But with Smith, al Juve and christ Sawalker conversion on it,
no one could quite get to it. Jenny Kavnar there
on the a's broadcast. Jacob Wilson one of our favorites
drops the ball perfectly into right field for a hit.
He had Jake Wilson, but because the dude on first

(09:19):
base was picking his d and didn't get a good
read on it, he held up too long. Error got
thrown out at second and they scored it a fielder's choice.
So Wilson did not get a hit in that game.
That was a fielder's choice scored by the official scorekeeper,

(09:41):
and our man streak ended at fifty instead of being
at fifty one and chasing that five point six million bucks.
That's what it's called bad beat there. Yeah, that's that's
a real van pelter. You think.

Speaker 7 (09:55):
MLB called in and said fielder's choice, right choice?

Speaker 5 (09:59):
Hit were called in the colde red somebody did right
old whistle teeth.

Speaker 4 (10:06):
He did.

Speaker 3 (10:07):
That's a fielder's choice. If I've ever seen one.

Speaker 4 (10:11):
You got it, commish.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
This is a song of the day.

Speaker 3 (10:18):
Don't you Worry about a Thing?

Speaker 8 (10:20):
Is our song of the day, A spicy, Latin jazz
flavored nineteen seventy four hits from the musical genius of
Stevie Wonder. Because there's no need to worry about a thing.
On a crunchy group on Thursday as the Petros and
Money Show is in control, taking you through a groovy
afternoon auditory adventure featuring three hours of great sports talk

Speaker 5 (11:16):

Speaker 3 (11:21):
You wouldn't move off your spot either.

Speaker 4 (11:22):
Billy Exstein telling me to take my seat.

Speaker 3 (11:25):

AM five to seventy LA Sports Live everywhere on the
iHeartRadio app, making our way to six o'clock for Dodgers
on deck, first pitch in the finale of this four
game series against the Padres just after seven o'clock seven
ten pm. Dodgers going for a four game sweep of
the Padres tonight, and that brings us this conversation.

Speaker 4 (13:01):
Pete David Vasse the Dodgers.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
With an inside look at the Dodgers. This is the
Vass Report with David Vasse.

Speaker 5 (13:13):
He is our number one guy Dodger reporter, extraordinariy MLB Network,
Spectrum Sportsnet, La A friend to Colin Hay and Brad
Paisley and so many others. It is David Vasse at
the real underscore dv our Dodger Reporter. You'll hear him

(13:33):
tonight on Marongo Casino, Dodgers on Deck, Dodger Clubhouse, and
of course Dodger Talk.

Speaker 4 (13:40):
Dave, what's cracking? How are you?

Speaker 10 (13:41):
Everything's great guys out here at Dodger Stadium. Beautiful day
out here, a beautiful day for the Dodgers to sweep
a four game series from the Padres for the first
time since two thousand and nine. Here at Dodgers Stadium.

Speaker 3 (13:56):
David Vess brought you my Service Titan. Southern California commercial
and residence contractors using service Titan software typically see a
seventeen percent increase in revenue in their first two years,
earn more visit servicetitan dot Com. Individual results they varied.
Just going back to last night, Dave, I'm sure you
talked to Ema Shean after the game. Justin Robleski. What
an opportunity for each of them, and my God talk
about delivering.

Speaker 2 (14:19):
No doubt.

Speaker 10 (14:19):
I mean, that was huge in so many different ways,
because not only did the Dodgers win the game in
dramatic fashion last night, but also they saved their bullpen,
which has thrown more innings than any other bullpen in baseball.
So to get four strong innings from Shean and Robleski
to be able to pitch the last five depite giving

(14:41):
up the tying runs in that ninth inning, that was
just as big as winning the game last night in
my opinion.

Speaker 4 (14:48):
What's his role going to be Robleski.

Speaker 10 (14:52):
Well, we'll see if he's still here today. I mean,
the Dodgers are quite I mean, he did throw a
lot of pitches. He won't be able to pitch again
for another five days, I would imagine. So the Dodgers
usually are able to maneuver their roster because they have
so much pitching depth. So I think when he does return,

(15:13):
it'll be in a spot start situation or the way
he's pitched the last two appearances here, where he has
done a really great job of attacking the strike zone,
not walking hitters and being able to limit runs.

Speaker 5 (15:27):
We all love Barnes and of course aj Ellis, but
and of course Dave, you go way back with your
love for the pizza man Mike Piazza, and what a
great hitting catcher he was for the Dodgers. But where's
Will Smith putting himself right now? As far as his
efficienc is a hitter with the walk off last night

(15:47):
pinch hit.

Speaker 10 (15:49):
How about this? He broke our Rick Monday's pinch hit
record for the Dodgers. Rick Monday had two career pinch
hit walk off home run in his Dodger career. Will
Smith broke that tie with his third tin hit walk
off home run. The last time Smith hit a walk
off home run it was as a pinch hitter back

(16:12):
in July twenty one against the Giants. So number sixteen
has that clutch magic. Will Smith sixteen, Rick Monday sixteen,
and of course our guy Andre Ethier number sixteen. But
you go back to last night, It's kind of what
the Dodgers' vision was when they decided to move off

(16:34):
of Austin Barnes and call a Dalton Rushing, have him,
give Will Smith a full days of rest, and last
night Rushing came up with a big, go ahead base
hit in the fifth inning, played great defensively, and then
you have Will Smith come off the bench and hit
a walk off home run. How many teams can say
they have two catchers that can do that. So that

(16:57):
was the first night we saw it all come together.
Will Smith is an All Star again and he is
to me the best hitting catcher in baseball. And I
know Cal Rawley in Seattle is right up there in
the home runs, but Will Smith is so much more
than that.

Speaker 3 (17:13):
Dave, just going back to the you know, the Robleski thing,
were you, I don't know, were you surprised they? I mean,
because it's not like he was going out to fase
seven eight nine. He was going out to face Machado,
Arise and sheets. Were you surprised they sent him out?
And after the game kind of what was sort of
the thought behind it? Obviously it was all right, you know,
he had the two run cushion, gave it up, but

(17:34):
Will Smith made it all right. Just kind of what
was the idea there?

Speaker 2 (17:38):
Yeah?

Speaker 10 (17:38):
To me, that's the message that resting the bullpen was
greater than bringing in a high leverage reliever. And Tanner
Scott had hitched in three straight games, so he wasn't available.
The only probable option was either Kirby Yates or Alex Vesia.
So basically Dave Roberts was taking the gamble that Robleski

(18:00):
and get through all five innings to end the game,
and he would have it's not for Max Munsey's four
throw on what would have been a sure double play.
So that's a little deceiving. When you look at the
box score, it was a lot cleaner than what it showed.

Speaker 4 (18:16):
Is Confordo in trouble.

Speaker 10 (18:19):
Dave, Well, he's not in the starting lineup again today.
Dave Roberts basically softened the blow yesterday where it sounds
like he is benching Michael Confordo and giving Hayesung Kim
a lot more opportunities until he believes and the hitting
coaches believe they may have adjusted confordo swing approach all

(18:43):
of that. But I mean, the Dodgers had given Confordo
a longer lease than they've given other players in the past,
so you can't say they haven't given him that opportunity.
He has almost three hundred plate appearances and is only
hitting a buck sixty five with four home runs that
were hit for a few between. So this is a
move that fans have been calling in about ever since

(19:05):
they released Chris Taylor. Michael Conforto has been righting their
cross airs.

Speaker 3 (19:11):
You mentioned Rushing's RBI to go ahead RBI. I mean
that was followed a Kim hit. I mean, can you
envision this as being, like you said, just something where
Kim's not going to give that back now, with the
threat that he is on the basis, with the way
he's been hitting the ball, can you see that being
the case.

Speaker 10 (19:27):
It's possible. He brings a lot of energy and a
dynamic that the Dodgers don't have and haven't had at
the bottom of the order. But I still maintain that
he's going to prove consistently he can hit ninety five
plus and the Dodgers are picking their spots so far
and when they started him against certain pitchers, And I

(19:48):
would be an advocate not to give up on Michael Conforto,
but also give guys like Kim and keep Gay more opportunities.

Speaker 4 (19:55):
What's the latest with Otani? What do we know? What
do you say, Dave?

Speaker 10 (20:00):
Yeah, I guess this is going to be a trend
where the Dodgers are controlling the news of when Otani's
going to pitch next. As I told you the last
couple of days, it really wasn't a secret. It was
either going to be Sunday against the Nationals or Tuesday
in Denver and the Dodgers. As we were rolling on
with the Clubhouse Show last night, tweeted out the probables

(20:24):
for the Nationals series, which they never do, and it
included Shohei Otani pitching on Sunday. So Otani's second start
as a pitcher with the Dodgers will be Sunday, the
finale of this extended home stand, a ten game homestand
against the Nationals team that is not very good right now.
They lost eleven in a row after losing to the

(20:46):
Rockies again last night, so another soft landing spot for Otani.

Speaker 3 (20:51):
We talked to you about whether or not he would
have been pulled had he hit thirty pitches. You mentioned
that that would have been the number that they wouldn't
let him finish the first inning on Monday. Is what
do we know? I know it's early Dave and it
was just announced, but do we know kind of what
maybe that number is going to be on Sunday? Do
you think it'll be the same.

Speaker 10 (21:09):
They won't box themselves in, but you can be certain
it's going to be a two to three inning stint.
Just like immag Sheean, right, he built up in the
minor leagues with back to back three inning outings and
then last night sixty five pitches, four innings. It's going
to be the same build up for Otani. I wouldn't

(21:29):
imagine him throwing more than fifty pitches on Sunday.

Speaker 4 (21:33):
Who's on the pregame day?

Speaker 10 (21:36):
Hey, great question, pet. Trust we'll find somebody to talk
to today and you can be certain he'll be as
fantastic as Mighty Max Munsey yesterday.

Speaker 5 (21:45):
Oh Monsey and Will Smith. You're on a streak, Otani.
I mean you're hot and stay hot.

Speaker 10 (21:51):
I'll be back on Sports Net LA for Otani Day
on Sunday.

Speaker 5 (21:56):
Yeah, Joel Davis in a second poem and video montage
for the Cold Open.

Speaker 4 (22:05):
Don't worry, Dave, you don't have to prepare munch.

Speaker 3 (22:07):
We'll tell you.

Speaker 10 (22:08):
We'll be on the call on Sunday.

Speaker 4 (22:11):
Oh, he's writing a poem as well. Thank you, Dave.
He'll write a haiku. Have a great night, Dave.

Speaker 10 (22:20):
Thank you guys. Always great to talk to you. I
miss you already.

Speaker 4 (22:23):
He doesn't say that to Rogan and Rodney. We'll be back.

Speaker 3 (22:26):

Speaker 3 (23:34):
Who's he gonna get?

Speaker 4 (23:35):

Still no sign on Lebron or Mark Walters keeping an
eye out for you for the people.

Speaker 4 (24:22):
Thank you, appreciate that. Appreciate you.

Speaker 7 (24:27):
By the way, that Del Taco right there by the
Burbank Airport. Not Del Taco prizes they raise them because.

Speaker 4 (24:33):
What do you mean they're considered the airport. They that
can't be the tim Kates Del Taco.

Speaker 10 (24:40):
Oh.

Speaker 7 (24:40):
I don't go to those places on Hollywood Away, right
by the airport, even though they're convenient right there on
Hollywood Way. I do not go there because they'll ploy
a local five dollar meal. It's not five bucks, dude, Wow, that.

Speaker 5 (24:52):
Is what is it? If it's not five bucks, how
much is the five dollars meal? It's like nine ten bucks?
And I want a guy he said, why is it
not a five dollars meal? He goes, because we're on
airport property.

Speaker 3 (25:02):
Right, so they get to abide by airport rules.

Speaker 5 (25:05):
That makes sense the people, But the people aren't trapped
up charge.

Speaker 4 (25:09):
Well yeah, but they're not trapped by security.

Speaker 3 (25:12):
All right to do is, you know, go upon an
empire there, make a right and you got a bunch
of fast food joints just right up a street.

Speaker 8 (25:22):
I'll see im Baseballcause everybody.

Speaker 5 (25:30):
When you say the city has let downtown down, you're
mainly talking about the homeless problem. Well here we call
them hoboes, and yeah, hobos and drugs and New Jack
City lifestyle. I would say that's holding us all back.
Whoever Nino Brown is down there, we got to get
rid of him, Matt, tell them.

Speaker 4 (25:54):
Now.

Speaker 5 (25:55):
Somebody took a picture of my bad foot from my
sister's Instagram and zoomed in on it and wrote this
very sad message to me.

Speaker 4 (26:05):
They wrote, did they even try to put you back together? Bete?

Speaker 3 (26:12):
I hate the goddamn zoom.

Speaker 5 (26:14):
Your foot's walking around just flipping everybody off.

Speaker 4 (26:17):
Yes it is, sir, Yes it is. Yeah, I'm sorry.

Speaker 5 (26:20):
Nothing worse you don't try to put your sock on
every morning with a toe that points straight up to
the sky like a guy after he strikes out a
batter to finish it.

Speaker 3 (26:31):
There should be something against it, like there should be
a rule against the zoom, Like, hey man, unless I
post the picture, zoom's not cool.

Speaker 4 (26:40):
Did they even try to put you back? Yes, they tried.

Speaker 5 (26:44):
It was a different time. Okay, it's a different time.
There's a bad injury. H silence from the king is golden.
They haven't heard from Lebron. We haven't heard from him
at all. We have not other than the facial compression

(27:05):
cream that Matt is referring to. Okay, Rodney Pete is
the MC.

Speaker 3 (27:13):
Of the event, so that makes sense. He's got to
get all the prep in who's playing, get the names?

Speaker 4 (27:17):
Well, I just told you a big boy.

Speaker 3 (27:19):
What are the announced? Well yeah, but he's got to say, eh,
big boy who's got a solo record coming out? Andre
three thousand makes a guest appearance on track seventeen, And
you know what I mean, You got to do all
that because these people are coming out, they want you
to promote it.

Speaker 5 (27:31):
What about Kid Coody is he gonna be there? Hey,
shut up, it's kid Cuddy u a holes. Leave me alone, dude.
I know it's Juneteenth, but shouldn't they have the costco hole?

Speaker 3 (27:48):
Ah?

Speaker 4 (27:49):
You know what I'm saying. Costco Ho goes up there
right before.

Speaker 3 (27:52):
Costco Ho goes is playing soft while I'm there.

Speaker 5 (27:54):
Right when she gets into the batter's box, she does
her whole dip.

Speaker 4 (28:01):
It'd be all over the.

Speaker 5 (28:04):
Petro Lebron does the facial compression cream because he needs
to tighten up that chin because it's still growing, because
that's totally normal. At forty his chin looks like a
damn slide to go down on a potato sack.

Speaker 4 (28:25):
Oh God.

Speaker 5 (28:28):
Petro Lebron is meeting with Walter, and I think I
see Mark Wahlberg and Celine Dion at the South Beverly
Grill right now. Lebron has a bag from Carne's on
the table.

Speaker 3 (28:42):
I'd love to get some Carneies.

Speaker 5 (28:43):
Walter had on confirmed up high. The information you need
from the Petros and Money show what carnis isn't there anymore?

Speaker 4 (28:56):
What do you mean?

Speaker 5 (28:56):
Next thing is gonna tell me they close the Pacific
Dining Car and burn the build down.

Speaker 3 (29:01):
Well, that did happen.

Speaker 5 (29:02):
Actually, yeah, because downtown sucks. It used to be so great, well,
it used to be passable, and now it just sucks.
All right, we'll be back with more. We are the
Angry Lamentation Show of Record.

Speaker 3 (29:14):
It all started with a welting melting wax figurine. That's
what started.

Speaker 5 (29:18):
Yeah, right there, and you know what, Matt, All the
businesses and that right there on on FIGAROA and seventh,
they're all boarded up because downtown sucks.

Speaker 3 (29:27):
The earth just swallowed them.

Speaker 5 (29:29):
Sucks digested for a thousand years. We'll have quick hits,
three things Thursday Dead and the live guys still to come.

Speaker 4 (29:37):
It is attired of the lies.

Speaker 5 (29:39):
Tuesday on a Thursday on the Petro Somebody Show on
