Speaker 3 (01:02):
Ten south on the shoulder, murder suspect going ninety What
is that a Toyota?

Speaker 2 (01:08):
I think that's uh, I think it's a Masta c
X thirty is what I think it is. He's going
ninety nine miles an hour on the shoulder.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
This guy's going hard and the one ten is gonna end.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
We went went to north, Now I didn't he flipped around. Well,
they say one ten south. They just it's gotta be south. Yeah,
so air tripping Carson Street, Common Carson Street, which is
right by where the big hospital is. It's it says Compton,
but it's really that would be the very north end. No,
it's like Guardina and Guardina. And then I was watching

(01:43):
a football game and I could have swore he said
Rose Bowls in comp.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
I mean it's Kershaw Day and I know, and I
told Kate's there was a chase, and Kate's was screaming
at me down the line.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Then we do what we do?

Speaker 3 (01:56):
I mean, I don't know. I mean that you're.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Going ninety on your freeway, a channel ninety Clayton, Kershaw. Okay,
come on, you heard him he said eighty nine.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
Here we go, Yeah, Harbord Division, let's go sleepy Hollow.

Speaker 4 (02:16):
No more.

Speaker 5 (02:16):
That will mean that you got.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
Could be a Nissan, could be a Nissan CenTra. Now
that I'm looking at the front grill, someone who.

Speaker 5 (02:22):
Is so reckless, takes a lot of energy. And so
now Jack Pat rush officers behind the wheel picking up
this pursuit.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
That Pat Harvey not sure.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
But this dude, yeah, he's well, he's a murder. You know.
It's not like it's a smash and grab at the
Louis Vuitton downtown.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Like Kershaw smashing and grabbing those bats.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
All yeah, for sure.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Come on, Kate, you're the one that put it on first.
You started it, and then you started.

Speaker 6 (02:50):
A lieutenant that's in charge of the incident commander that's in.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Charge of that. Anybody come running from the office into
the studio to get a look at the TV. When
we were talking about Kershaw, No, no, but we talked
about a car chase. You when here comes the freaking
rest of the office.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
Now you know when the presser starts at the chase
is still going. Even if he comes to my house
and drags me out, We've got to follow the press.
He's headed down to the end of the world, as
my father would say, San Pedro, California, where the ghetto
meets the sea. He's at Anaheim Street, Matt, that's my
exit to get up to the hill, going by No

(03:24):
he's gonna get all the way to the end of
the one ten. The one ten ends at Gaffy in
San Pedro. I know that you've eaten at that Hawaiian
barbecue place.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
I'll advise it was ill advised. It was a rough
thirty minutes to get home.

Speaker 5 (03:36):
Moves going through these interest.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Speaking of cooking, cooking hitters his entire career.

Speaker 5 (03:41):
Yeah, we know, Yeah, Kate murder suspect who is being chased.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
They give away the tickets right now, Matt, so Kates
has something to do while we watched.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
Every single segment we're giving away. Don't your tickets for
tomorrow night start Clayton Kershaw's final start. He's going to
announce his retirement officially at a presser in about four
hour fifteen minutes.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
Get in or two.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
Hundred bucks caller twenty two right now, E six seventy.
You're going to the game tomorrow, Caller twenty two, and
we'll do it next segment, segment after that, and the
three after that. We still have six pair to give away,
including this one.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
He didn't get off on Channel Street, Matt. The theoretically
he could get over to the right and get on
the Vincent Thomas Bridge and get into Terminal Island. But
it looks like he's taking the one ten till the end,
which is the equivalent of taking the boat all the
way up the river in Apocalypse. Now, don't get off
the boat unless you're going all the way.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Also goes to Dodger Stadium or Clayton Kersha. I'll be
pitching them arow night. The other ways well done is
getting off. He's getting off, getting.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
Off seventy miles an hour here Terminal Island.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
I mean, now exit one A.

Speaker 4 (04:50):
Think, let's see I we're making the transition here to
the bits of.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
Thomas or the yeah vtb Oh my gosh. But he's
going to be able to get off on harbor there
if he wants.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
He's running into some traffic here.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
Yeah, the VTV is a mask.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
He's running into some trib's two lanes going to and
he's doing here we go.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
He's, you know, to get a great job building it
on campus stadium. Matt It chains the identity of their
football program.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
Fritz lost control sixty five miles an hour work trucks.
I mean, you know this is working town underneath.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
Yeah, Well, he's going out to the terminal Island. You know,
that's where the trucks pick up all the container.

Speaker 4 (05:23):
Yeah. Oh, here he goes to very common for these
suspects to try to kind of juke the.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
I'm a little behind blu he Uh. He's going the
wrong way off, wrong way on an off ramp.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
Yeah, he's getting off on Harbor.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
Okay, he's going the wrong way and he's gonna run
into a Oh my gosh, there's a semi. There's two semis,
and he's going the wrong way down this on.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
Yeah, he's getting out off on Harbor. So he's down
there by the Catalina at this.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
Just hit a truck. Yeah, side swiped it, just splitting cars.

Speaker 4 (05:52):
Just got off work and and someone comes flying towards
you the wrong and now he is on probably going
to buy the suspect of little bit of time.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
Well, oh, I know a guy that uh that ended
his life at that Samoa hotel right there.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
On the right. But that just could show notes. Now
wrong side of the street again.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
Oh, he's gonna go right by Sylvia's bail bonds, Matt.
Now he's right by the Catalina.

Speaker 4 (06:15):
Terminal, and what they're gonna do.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
But he's heading towards that skate park.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
He's getting squeezed by the semis.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
That's the yang Ming Doc. That is the yang Ming Doc,
which is one of our great San Pedro Chinese docs.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
He has built some distance between himself and the police
with that wrong way action.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
I mean, it wouldn't be a doc worker or a
Steve Door that kills him, Kates, it would be it
would be a semi Oh, he's up by the new Eastview,
little League Matt actually up on the hill.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
He's going up the hill right now.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
Remember that ship, that movie to Live and Die in
l A, that awesome movie. This is where that hooker lived. Okay,
so he's on Front Street right now, just like we're
on Front Street and there's Sylvia's al Bonds.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
Yeah, there's the bumper. Yeah, I think that's in what
you said. Is that all?

Speaker 3 (07:04):
There's the there's the Neptune Marine supply.

Speaker 4 (07:07):
I think that's a mostel that he what he squeezed
between him going the wrong way.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
One of those accouts were.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Yeah, Galvin Moss asked for Dan Stirkle.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
He's gonna go back to the one. Ted north Man
just so crazy. He is on Figuerollay now we're going.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
Yeah, he's one ten Nor. Yeah, good coffee.

Speaker 7 (07:25):
You knew it.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
You know this place like the back of your hand here,
but it's Matt.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
Nobody gets around the ghetto by the sea like me.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
And now the one ten North.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
Yeah, so the one ten North, he's gonna run all
the way back through towards Compton. Uh uh you know, Wilmington, Prompton, Guardena.

Speaker 5 (07:43):
You can see one winner from the truck that did
n't I do We got.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
A h well, we're all winners for watching Kershaw pitch Brandon.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
There's no doubt Brandon in the lot that.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
So now we got eight one eight five six two
six two six of.

Speaker 6 (07:58):
The freeway, which is just really remarkable, really quickly. Mean,
so desnt mentioned that he they.

Speaker 2 (08:02):
Thought he's up to one hundred and ten miles an
hour and his bumper's about to fly off. Oh god,
he's dragging his bumper six Yeah, that draggon, it's dragging.
That thing's gonna go flying projectile on the one ten.

Speaker 3 (08:15):
That guy's trying to, you know, bow up to Sammy's
I'm not surprised.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
Keep your windows up if it was the suspects.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
But so, oh, look at that bumper flapping in the
wear like a boots of foreskin is.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
Now he'et hanging on, man.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
Hanging on. I've never seen a brist like this.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
Look like we almost got it all happen. There's still
one piece.

Speaker 5 (08:38):
But I mean this is very dangerous too. With that bumper,
it can fly off and all of.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
It is very absolutely good, absolutely no doubt.

Speaker 7 (08:47):
Yeah, definitely it could cause a cross me if that
comes off, comes off.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
It blinds you, maybe lands running windshield.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
I agree with you. Vocal Fry television co host.

Speaker 7 (08:56):
Is just going so crave fast.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
I mean, this guy is calling assne miles an hour
and the one hundred miles an hour, letting this.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
Go that mosta can roll. It looks like some twenty
inch tires on that thing.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
Matt, Yeah, those are after market rims.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
Maybe momos remember when we did the Mama would remember
when we did the rental wheel.

Speaker 7 (09:15):
But we're going back the way we came really really quick.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
By wheels when you can run it.

Speaker 5 (09:20):
Yeah, this is bumper is still hanging on. With the
speeds that have been this.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
High, that bumper is about to come off. That bumper
is about.

Speaker 5 (09:27):
To come off on there and I just dread to
see where it goes.

Speaker 3 (09:30):
We did, we also feel that dread.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
To be honest, I don't feel dread about a piece
of plastic as much as I do. Hopefully that does
the entire.

Speaker 3 (09:38):
Vehicle about one hundred miles an hour up, everybody's ass
about to run into a major amount of traffic on
the one ten North right after the one oh five,
probably before.

Speaker 5 (09:48):
Well again, if you were just joining us, this is
the pursuit of a murder suspect that has been going
on since about three forty this afternoon.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
Let's go.

Speaker 5 (09:58):
We've got LAPD following this black vehicle here that has
been really making this.

Speaker 3 (10:03):
Is it a Honda, Matt, I don't.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
It's either like a Honda hr V, a Toyota Corolla,
a Mousta c X thirty and one of those. It's
so black as you'd like to say, it's all well,
he is murdered out.

Speaker 5 (10:13):
In the shoulder area, which we know has a lot
of difference.

Speaker 3 (10:17):
It's a Toyota Corolla hatchback.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
That's what is okay, Toyota Corolla hatchback.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
I said it was a Toyota. That's the first thing
I said.

Speaker 2 (10:25):
It's all blacked out you're that expert.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
You're supposed to be the ex are the same.

Speaker 4 (10:29):
Eighty ninety miles an hour with practically stock.

Speaker 2 (10:31):
We make it easy, easy on you. Worse for Oh
my gosh, here we go, traffic slowing down and he's
still going ninety miles an hour.

Speaker 4 (10:38):
They I told you he's on the shoulder saying that
traffic may be blocked up ahead. We'll see what what
that's about.

Speaker 3 (10:44):
If it's a yes, it's blocked you full it's a
one to ten north on a freaking it's four o'clock.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
His shoulders don't last forever a chp road block. Wonder
he's going to be coming up on these express lanes.

Speaker 4 (10:55):
Involved in this one yet?

Speaker 2 (10:56):
But I mean Toby has a speed tracker, pa, Wow,
oh wow, that thing's getting tight man, and he's going
faster and faster. It's called the fast track cakes tomb ass,
but he's got one.

Speaker 7 (11:06):
This is gonna get ticket.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
Spike strip, Oh, spike strip, Oh.

Speaker 3 (11:09):
Think yeah, because that the cops like to hang out
right over there.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
One t oh, I think they got him to the
front left. So oh oh, they got him front left
spike strip.

Speaker 3 (11:20):
The uplong it out. They stopped traveling and they blew
him off.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
Spike strip, spike strip, you blow it up.

Speaker 3 (11:28):
That was great.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
Let me tell you something, this vehicle, but your plastic
in taste bumper and your Toyota Corolla is one of
the strongest things in the history of the world.

Speaker 3 (11:34):
That thing's pretty good.

Speaker 2 (11:35):
Oh yeah, he's trying to make a turn and he can't.
All look at this. Oh he's drifting.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
Shout out to Japan, Shout out to Japan.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
Oh he's Tokyo drifting.

Speaker 4 (11:44):
Happened so fast I couldn't tell. But amazing work there
by ChB running that bright, getting everything ready and basically
forcing the suspect to go over.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
Oh yeah, that left tire's gone. He's rim. He's almost
on metal only now he's got a little bit of
rubber left spike, so he's to get on pure.

Speaker 3 (12:01):
How much you want to bet half of these big
rigs on the one ten north are coming from that
yang Ming.

Speaker 5 (12:05):
Doc man't to bet anything.

Speaker 2 (12:08):
I know that to be a true statement.

Speaker 7 (12:10):
So maybe we can.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
Check that wheel is yeah, it is now. It is
now metal on asphalt, the tires on. Look, he's getting off,
and you know.

Speaker 6 (12:18):
What's crazy is when you watch his driving. It's like
he sees it. He starts to hit the brakes and
realize that there goes. He's tread right over the top
of it.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
The tread just went.

Speaker 7 (12:29):
And I don't know, I mean, you know, we don't
want to.

Speaker 2 (12:33):
He's trying to turn, he's trying to squeeze it.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
This is sad.

Speaker 7 (12:37):
This is getting say all four or at least the
front two hit that.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
Now now it's digging into the wheel well.

Speaker 3 (12:44):
It's gone. Look at it quick, That thing spinning mad.
It's spinning like.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
A spinner, digging into the wheel well. He is now
in figaroa getting memories of rental wheel.

Speaker 4 (12:55):
Well or whatever rubbers left.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
There is no rubber. That's the wheel well man.

Speaker 4 (13:00):
So making a term, but it's it's going to be
very difficult for him. You could see right, he's.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
Only going twenty miles an hour.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
Now he's lost all his powers here, so he's like
the headless horseman. After Ichabod Krank crosses the bridge.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
Then you can do some say Kershaw lost his power,
but he reinvented himself.

Speaker 3 (13:17):
Would you stop.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
Definitely up on this, listen, Kate, you're enjoying this as
much as we are.

Speaker 4 (13:24):
They're just going to kind of try to run the.

Speaker 3 (13:26):
You love the good execution of aug I mean, this
is the CHP is bathed in glory after that Spike game.

Speaker 7 (13:31):
We rocket and played again, but it was cars.

Speaker 3 (13:33):
This guy is still a danger.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
To the community, no doubt, goes the wheel, Well, that
just fell out. That's an extra ticket, sir, littering by
those officers.

Speaker 6 (13:43):
Uh from where it is again so washing you'll see
it's right after this tree. And then he starts to
slow down. You'll see him kind of hit the brakes
and realize there's nowhere to go right there, right there,
that's where he hits it.

Speaker 7 (13:54):
And you can see those officers.

Speaker 2 (13:55):
Staying beautiful, well executed officer.

Speaker 7 (13:58):
That was really remarkable and had to change. It was
a guy that was.

Speaker 3 (14:03):
Going nice, just like Kershot nailed matters for years at
Dodger Stadium.

Speaker 7 (14:07):
And now we're at twenty two miles an hour.

Speaker 5 (14:09):
Yes, but we do want to mention again that this
is why.

Speaker 3 (14:11):
Don't they he's a murder suspect, Why don't they just
pit him right now?

Speaker 6 (14:14):
We can pit him that could very well still have
about them, which is which is you know, that's why
we're not seeing pit maneuvers. If he has a gun,
they'll smoke him, right, remarkable and for so many different reasons.
But he had a glove, usually attactic we would see
with a homicide suspect. So but now, I mean, you know,
and he had a glove. Understand and know that he
is out of options. I mean, the cars falling apart,
he cannot get the speeds that he was anywhere.

Speaker 3 (14:37):
He's lost his powers. We already had that miles an
hour now, and.

Speaker 2 (14:41):
You just pretty soon remember now this happened once before.
But when the spike strip got the tire and remember
caught fire, he's certainly not go oh yeah, and the
whole thing just went. I think it was a bulbo, right,
it was a bulbo, and the whole thing just caught fire,
and it was gnarly.

Speaker 3 (14:55):
It was a towering inferno.

Speaker 4 (14:57):
We might start to see some sparks here pretty soon.

Speaker 3 (15:00):
There you go, Matt, listen to our show.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
There, come on.

Speaker 3 (15:03):
I hope that they well, somebody has experience doing this
and some people don't.

Speaker 2 (15:06):
That's a good point.

Speaker 4 (15:06):
Well, really for all the authorities kind.

Speaker 3 (15:08):
Of like Kershaw pitching for the Dodger, do.

Speaker 4 (15:10):
That because you think of you know they had to
come and run that traffic breaking hoole.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
Now see the.

Speaker 4 (15:15):
Danger is and then get it.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
We get this guy out of here before we got
to talk to and he pops out of the car
and car shacks somebody. They were kind of you know,
he's danger to society now vehicles right, you're right to
murder murderer.

Speaker 3 (15:29):
They might have a sixth sour in his lap right now.

Speaker 4 (15:31):
Right. Pursuits to get this guy on and on with
very serious suspects that are.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
Driving into custody here in short order.

Speaker 3 (15:37):
It takes like that, should we take a break?

Speaker 2 (15:39):
Yeah, I think we have to because we got Davids.

Speaker 4 (15:41):
Coming out the suspect.

Speaker 3 (15:42):
All right, Well that's because should we do the Song
of the day? Trying to just that'll get us back
to Kershaw as much as they can.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
But I think we're just going to break here at
some point.

Speaker 3 (15:50):
All right, we'll go to break and we'll get to
the Song of the day.

Speaker 2 (15:54):
Dodger tickets on the other side of the break and
David Vassa and made peacefully just like Kershaw's great career.
That's right, with a World Series championship.

Speaker 1 (16:07):

Speaker 3 (17:29):
David Vasse been covering Clayton Kershaw since we were young
men in our twenties, and of course he is with
the Dodgers tonight. He has Marongo Casino, Dodgers on Deck, content,
Dodger Clubhouse, Dodger Talk, and of course what a crazy
day with the press conference coming up in about an hour. Dave,

(17:51):
how's it going out there and what's the overall reaction
and the vibe in the building.

Speaker 8 (17:58):
Well, a lot of people are shocked that this happened today.
I started to get some hints in the last week.
I told you guys, just two days ago, I was
doing Dodger Talk and I had never seen Clayton Kershaw
after a game in the middle of the night at
Dodger Stadium go out and earth or ground, taking his

(18:19):
shoes and socks off, and his shorts and T shirt
and do what he does before every start, walk out
of the dugout, make his way to the center field wall,
and then walk back in. And he not only was
doing that wandering, but he was also you know, taken
in the stadium, So that was a hint to me.
And then I told you guys that I asked him

(18:41):
on Sunday morning whether or not he considered that last
Saturday night was his final start in a place that
he dominated at Oracle Park, and he never shot me
down and said absolutely not, it wasn't my last. He
was very reflective, So those hints the last week or
so were telling me that this was going to be
his final season. And I had a chance to catch

(19:04):
up with Freddie Freeman earlier today and he reflected on
knowing for a month but being sworn to secrecy.

Speaker 9 (19:12):
I've already got a Jersey's sign from him. Yeah, I've known,
but he told me to keep it a secret, and
he wanted to do it on his own terms.

Speaker 7 (19:20):
And I didn't know when he was going to do it.

Speaker 9 (19:23):
And I think, knowing knowing Clayton, I thought he would
just not even tell anybody and just retire. But I'm
glad he did so the fans and not only Dodger fans,
but all baseball fans could enjoy his last start here
on Dodger Stadium in the regular season tomorrow. So I mean,
just a heck of a career, just an awe of

(19:45):
when I first came into the league, getting to face him,
and then obviously coming over here, that all just gets
bigger and bigger watching him daily, go about his business,
what he does day in and day out, not only
on the field off the field, but he's done in
the communities.

Speaker 4 (20:01):
He's just a special person.

Speaker 9 (20:02):
So I'm just I'm very happy that I got to
spend four years with him, and it's incredible. Even in
his eighteenth year, we've counted on them every fifth or
sixth day in this season alone. So he's just I mean,
he's not a Dodgy legend, He's a baseball legend forever.

Speaker 7 (20:18):
And I mean, the greatest picture of our gentery.

Speaker 8 (20:21):
Yeah, Dave, you guys, As you know, Clayton Kershaw is
going to have a press conference that you're carrying live
at five point thirty. And I saw Clayton earlier today.
He was actually doing what he normally would do. He
was pitching to his oldest son Charlie in center field
at one thirty this afternoon, and as he walked in,
he broke the eyes and said, well, well, well, Dave,

(20:43):
it's all about me today.

Speaker 2 (20:45):
Dave, you said our Freddie said it at the start there,
and you know him better than almost anybody on that team,
or as well as anybody on that team, that he
thought Clayton would just not tell anyone and that was
just going to be it and rapid at the end
of the season, whenever that might come. But it does
feel like this is a little bit of a different
Clayton Kershaw. And what Freddy said about letting the fans
know and let them want to do what they'd want

(21:08):
to do, and that celebrate him tomorrow night, and that
does seem like that's been a little bit of a
change with him.

Speaker 8 (21:14):
Yeah, because I think we all expected, like Freddie, that
he would just put a post out on his Instagram
page like he has done the last few years, announcing
that he is coming back, and I felt like that's
what we would all get from him this time. But
I'm happy that he's allowing the fans to celebrate him
because he didn't want it to be about himself. He

(21:34):
did not want one of these farewell tours. But at
least he's giving them this. And I'm not sure who
convinced him I'm sure it was Ellen that convinced him
that this would be the right move and the timing's perfect.
Tomorrow night, his final regular season start at Dodger Stadium,
and then on Saturday, it says Bobblehead night, celebrating his

(21:55):
three thousand strikeout. But also, guys, keep in mind, And
we asked Freddie this as well, whether or not this
is something of a rallying cry to win it for
Kershaw going out? He said, we want to win it anyway,
but yeah, that sounds good. We should win it for
Clayton going out.

Speaker 3 (22:11):
Dave was Breddy the only guy that you talked.

Speaker 8 (22:14):
To, No, we talked to Max Munsey, and Munsey and
Keith Y Hernandez are the two guys that have played
with Clayton the most currently on this team. And here's
what Munsey had to say. And he also was very
reflective and somewhat emotional when he was asked about this
becoming a formality now that Clayton making it official that

(22:38):
he is retiring. Clayton making it official, does it make
it more real or more surreal that these are the
final days of his playing career.

Speaker 4 (22:48):
Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 10 (22:49):
I mean, I know he's saying it, and I know
it's kind of reality, but I still don't know that
I believe it, you know, just for as long as
I've been here, it's been to and uh, you know,
it's a you know, it's a weird day. Like I said,
it's a it's kind of a strange day. But you know,
at the end of the day, it's one of the

(23:09):
best careers that we've ever seen. And that's you know,
for me personally, having gotten to play behind him for
eight nine years now, it's uh truly.

Speaker 7 (23:19):
A blessing to be able to witness up.

Speaker 3 (23:21):
How did you find out?

Speaker 10 (23:24):
Some of us kind of knew for a little bit,
but uh, yeah, he sent a text everyone this morning,
just wanted to get ahead of it before the media
found out, and so most most of the guys found
out this morning.

Speaker 8 (23:36):
And guys, uh, I haven't shared this story, but when
Clayton's family was out of town during the last homestand
he invited rookie Jack Dryer and second year pitcher Emmit
Shehan to stay with him at his beach house in
the South Bay, and they would they stayed with him
in their house and Clayton would leave the stadium before

(23:57):
they would get back home, he'd wait up for them.
They talk around the fire pit, and Emma Sheen actually
told me that's when he found out in just a
casual conversation, this was going to be hit for Kershaw.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
What do you make of what Freddy said at the
end there, Dave that it's a team that's been struggling
a little bit. We asked Oral about this earlier, that this, maybe,
I don't know, puts a fine point on your focus
for the postseason and realizing that you can send Clayton
out the best way possible, you know, in a Dodger
uniform at Dodger Stadium, playing for a World Series championship.

Speaker 8 (24:33):
Yeah, I feel like that is part of the reason,
maybe not the main one, that Clayton made this announcement.
I mean, this could be a rallying cry and a
motivating factor for the team. I also believe that last
night's performance by Blake Snell and him showing his teammates
and the fans what he's all about, the way that

(24:53):
Dugout erupted certainly gave that electricity that the Dodgers have
been missing for a lot of the year. And then
in the eighth inning. After all that, tai Oscar Hernandez
went first to third for the first time in months.
So come on, I think snell Villa got everybody fired
up last night as well.

Speaker 2 (25:12):
Yes, you did.

Speaker 3 (25:13):
There is no doubt. You know, Matt Matt mentioned it
in the first hour, you know, he talked about how
great smell Zilla was and the whole thing. So do
you think you'll get emotional Dame.

Speaker 8 (25:23):
Moment petros as a Dodger, snell Villa telling Dave Roberts,
I got this.

Speaker 3 (25:28):
It was a great moment, Dave. Do you do you
think you might feel feel a little bit of the emotion.
I mean, we we've been covering Kershaw since you know,
you were swinging your tweed belt around at the Yankee
Doodles in Woodland Hills.

Speaker 8 (25:44):
Yeah, you know, I think it'll be more real after
the season. I think I'll take inventory of it once
it's all done, because he's still here and he's still pitching,
so nothing's gonna change on a day to day basis
until the season's over. Whether the Dodgers win it or not.
It would he's special for him to have another parade
and go out that way.

Speaker 2 (26:03):
Oh yeah, where do you think, Dave, real quick before
we say bye, where do you think tomorrow night's gonna
kind of sit in your most memorable Dodger games in
the thousands that you've covered.

Speaker 8 (26:14):
Oh, it'll be top five, no doubt. And hopefully you know,
not hopefully, I know the fans are going to show
him what he wants and what he deserves, and they're
going to, you know, obviously honor him with their applause
like they did after he struck out his three thousands batter,
after he pitched his only no hitter, and the way

(26:34):
they celebrated him at the parade last year. It's going
to be it's going to be that type of night.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
Well, great job, Dave, and we'll be looking forward to the.

Speaker 8 (26:43):
Press on Apple TV. But you could hear it right
here on AM fire.

If this is going to be the way you are,
it's the way we say. In nineteen seventy nine he
studied fashion and art. At twenty two he started illustrating

and studied the PhaoS and the hieroglyphics for a year.

He works with Rebecca Kami Gallery and Athens for thirty

Kaka, like, you don't know that. You don't know that.

Speaker 3 (34:31):
Yeah, at Barney's and Tiffany's, that's what they did. Greece,

(35:57):
appreciate being mocked very serious. Well, you're right, he does
have the light and comical sign. Roddie has got the

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
