entertaining and and you know, you hear these guys talk,
you know, during the game and at the pre and
post and all that about how much the bench matters,
and it does. And last night the difference in the
game was the bench, for sure.

or seven game series. Do you still feel that way
or do you think that maybe the Pacers have found
something defensively and how they're now attacking SGA on that
side of the court, that that could carry them to

Well, I think this first, and I think I told
you guys last week after Indiana won game one, I
told you Oklahoma City would smack him in game two,
and they did, and I think Oklahoma City's going to
smack them again in game four. It's just when you
have two teams that are stylistically different but not that
far apart talent wise with each other. Sga is still

the best player on the floor of the Halliburt's trying
to prove him wrong. I think it just flip flops.
He keeps going back and forth. So I think now,
after watching last night, I think this game's going. This
series is going seven games for sure.

How good is because you watch him play and you
just kind of say to yourself, man, that guy's weird.
He is just so different than anything we really see
out there. Is Chet Holmgren, like really good? Is he
really tall? And he can shoot? Like how would you
describe Chet's game at this particular moment of his career.

Usually guys with that kind of length Matt don't move
as well as he moves, and he's got enough skill
with it. Now they don't rely on his skill very much.
But you saw, like last night he got it. He
challenged the shot, got the rebound and then brought it
in transition. That's unusual for a guy that's seven feet
seven to one, And so that's why you know you're

watching m He's really skinny. He's actually put on wait
since college. I saw a picture the other day of
him in college, and you think he looks skinny now,
I mean in college it was ridiculous. But I just
think the combination of length and skill is what makes
him so unique. But he's really effective. And you know,
the numbers don't jump off the page because that team

is so good and Jalen Williams and the SGA score
a lot of points. But he's going to be a
max contract guy for what he does in the effect
he has on the game on both sides.

like I told you, guys, we had so many guys
this year and so many nil guys coming through here
that it's just it's more than it's ever been. And
so I think that was part of it, part of it.
So I'm getting old as you know what, and uh,
but yeah, it's it's lightning up and it's the the
end is near the light at the end of the tunnel.

What would it take now that you have as much
experience with them and you can put it into context
with others soon to be draftees and number one overall picks,
Like what would the package have to look like to
get Cooper Flag?

How how big of a deal is this guy at

Well, he's he's You know, I've only had one other
number one pick, and that was Carl Townsend. He he
was clearly the number one pick that year. I think
Cooper's clearly the number one pick this year. I think
I think most would agree based on what they saw
Duke his freshman year. This is a once in a
ten year guy. Probably the interesting part, and I think

we talked about this a few weeks ago, is he's
not going to a bad team. And I think it's
for me. It's going to be fascinating to watch because normally,
when you're the number one pick, you go to a
crappy team and it's your world. Think Kate Cunningham and
Detroit Like, it's just you get the ball every time
you're shooting as much as you want, do you dominate
the game for your team. We've go in to a

team that's already got Kyrie and Ad and other pretty
good players. And that's the one thing that I've noticed
with him, and I think I told you guys this.
He's such a good dude and such a good teammate
that he will defer and just because he's an unselfish guy,
he doesn't need it, even though he knows he can dominate,
and so it's going to be really interesting to see

how that dynamic plays out once he gets to Dallas
and gets incorporated with the rest of those guys on
that team.

Did something go wrong for Kevin Durant don these last
few years? I guess since he left Golden State. I mean,
the guy was the best player in the NBA and
I think that was in general consensus for a few years.
And I don't know, I know they came pretty close
in Brooklyn, But did something go wrong for Kevin Durant

or was it just the circumstance of the teams he
chose to go to.

Yeah, I think it's more. You know, what's what wrong
is he went to Phoenix and there's this Phoenix you know,
changing ownership and their front office they have I don't
even know who their GM is because they have like
five gms, literally, they have five different decision makers chambers,
and so I think, yeah, it's just all become like

it's just I don't know, it's just there. I think
that's what's wrong. I don't think Kevin Durant's become any
less of a player. I know, you know, he wants
to go to contender because he's getting up there in
age and he thought he was going to contender in Phoenix.
But as you guys know, in any sports, football, basketball, anything,
it starts at the top and it trickles down. And
if your leadership, in your ownership, in your front office

aren't aligned and on the same page, it's probably not
gonna go very well, and it hasn't in Phoenix.

And I think what what to me is interesting is
just how much everybody thought, okay see was an overwhelming
favorite coming into the series and now they're down two
to one. But I think that speaks to the parody
in the league now that there really isn't any dominant
teams with superstars across the board that are just going
to roll through the playoffs. And so it has been

entertaining and and you know, you hear these guys talk,
you know, during the game and at the pre and
post and all that about how much the bench matters,
and it does. And last night the difference in the
game was the bench, for sure.

have been a five game series to now a six
or seven game series. Do you still feel that way
or do you think that maybe the Pacers have found
something defensively and how they're now attacking SGA on that
side of the court, that that could carry them to
a title.

Well, I think this first, and I think I told
you guys last week after Indiana won game one, I
told you Oklahoma City would smack him in game two,
and they did, and I think Oklahoma City's going to
smack them again in game four. It's just when you
have two teams that are stylistically different but not that
far apart talent wise with each other. Sga is still

the best player on the floor of the Halliburt's trying
to prove him wrong. I think it just flip flops.
He keeps going back and forth. So I think now,
after watching last night, I think this game's going. This
series is going seven games for sure.

How good is because you watch him play and you
just kind of say to yourself, man, that guy's weird.
He is just so different than anything we really see
out there. Is Chet Holmgren, like really good? Is he
really tall? And he can shoot? Like how would you
describe Chet's game at this particular moment of his career.

Usually guys with that kind of length Matt don't move
as well as he moves, and he's got enough skill
with it. Now they don't rely on his skill very much.
But you saw, like last night he got it. He
challenged the shot, got the rebound and then brought it
in transition. That's unusual for a guy that's seven feet
seven to one, And so that's why you know you're

watching m He's really skinny. He's actually put on wait
since college. I saw a picture the other day of
him in college, and you think he looks skinny now,
I mean in college it was ridiculous. But I just
think the combination of length and skill is what makes
him so unique. But he's really effective. And you know,
the numbers don't jump off the page because that team

is so good and Jalen Williams and the SGA score
a lot of points. But he's going to be a
max contract guy for what he does in the effect
he has on the game on both sides.

he's in a very very awkward time of year, the
NBA Finals coming to an end. Camp McClain is at

So I'm getting old as you know what, and uh,
but yeah, it's it's lightning up and it's the the
end is near the light at the end of the tunnel.

What would it take now that you have as much
experience with them and you can put it into context
with others soon to be draftees and number one overall picks,
Like what would the package have to look like to
get Cooper Flag?

How how big of a deal is this guy at
number one?
Speaker 4 (20:38):
Well, he's he's You know, I've only had one other
number one pick, and that was Carl Townsend. He he
was clearly the number one pick that year. I think
Cooper's clearly the number one pick this year. I think
I think most would agree based on what they saw
Duke his freshman year. This is a once in a
ten year guy. Probably the interesting part, and I think

we talked about this a few weeks ago, is he's
not going to a bad team. And I think it's
for me. It's going to be fascinating to watch because normally,
when you're the number one pick, you go to a
crappy team and it's your world. Think Kate Cunningham and
Detroit Like, it's just you get the ball every time
you're shooting as much as you want, do you dominate
the game for your team. We've go in to a
(21:19):
team that's already got Kyrie and Ad and other pretty
good players. And that's the one thing that I've noticed
with him, and I think I told you guys this.
He's such a good dude and such a good teammate
that he will defer and just because he's an unselfish guy,
he doesn't need it, even though he knows he can dominate,
and so it's going to be really interesting to see

how that dynamic plays out once he gets to Dallas
and gets incorporated with the rest of those guys on
that team.

Did something go wrong for Kevin Durant don these last
few years? I guess since he left Golden State. I mean,
the guy was the best player in the NBA and
I think that was in general consensus for a few years.
And I don't know, I know they came pretty close
in Brooklyn, But did something go wrong for Kevin Durant

or was it just the circumstance of the teams he
chose to go to.
Speaker 4 (22:14):
Yeah, I think it's more. You know, what's what wrong
is he went to Phoenix and there's this Phoenix you know,
changing ownership and their front office they have I don't
even know who their GM is because they have like
five gms, literally, they have five different decision makers chambers,
and so I think, yeah, it's just all become like

it's just I don't know, it's just there. I think
that's what's wrong. I don't think Kevin Durant's become any
less of a player. I know, you know, he wants
to go to contender because he's getting up there in
age and he thought he was going to contender in Phoenix.
But as you guys know, in any sports, football, basketball, anything,
it starts at the top and it trickles down. And
if your leadership, in your ownership, in your front office

aren't aligned and on the same page, it's probably not
gonna go very well, and it hasn't in Phoenix.

where he was fighting the Native Americans after enlisting in
seventeen ninety two. It's really good with his hands, so
he got into carpentry. I'm am using these hands to
fight these freaking Native America engined, he built the house
of James Buchanan Senior, and while he was building it

befriended his son, James Buchanan Junior, called Jimmy Buck, fifteenth
President of the United States, and this illiterate dude, we're
best friends. He served under General Alexander Hamilton in the
Army until eighteen hundred.

Excuse me here, what's his name?
Speaker 2 (28:33):
Alexander Hamilton. He was stationed in Kaskakia, Illinois, right up
the river from Camp Dubois, where Lewis and Clark's expedition
would originate. The core of discovery found gas. Recognized as
carpentry talent, promoted him from private to general and invited
him to join the expedition.
Speaker 3 (28:53):
There's only one problem with him. You can't read. Read
but where we're going there are no Signsuis.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
And Clark are cruise and their exploring there, walking their
hike in, they're charting a course. They get all the credit,
all the appreciation. What is our man Patrick doing? Building?
He built two separate winter quarters to protect the team
from the elements. He hued dugout canoes for them to
navigate waterways. He built wagons to carry the canoes eighteen

miles around the falls.

Let this be a lesson to you. If you cannot
read or write, you cannot write about what you did.

It's funny you say that he would learn to read
or write pe And when Lewis and Clark were on
smaller exploratory expeditions, he was the guy in charge of everyone.
You are not getting to Fort Clatsop, Oregon and opening

And again, despite being a guy that never learned a
reader write until adulthood, he was the one that kept
the journal published in eighteen oh seven. It was the
first account of the Lewis and Clark journey. He coined
the term Corps of Discovery. It was a bestseller a
dollar a copy, twenty two dollars per copy in today's dollars.
I used to be stupid, but now I'm learned. I'm
the guy. He was translated into French German, many reprints

still in publication today. After the expedition, he served in
the War of eighteen twelve and lost an eye in
the Battle of Bridgewater. During the Civil War, he was
ninety one years old. Now I learned to read all
over again. He was ninety one and demanded they let
him enlist to fight the rebels. I don't think they
let him. They didn't. This is the best part that
(30:32):
ninety one is pretty old back, you know, because he
was on the move, you know, and fighting the wars
and losing the eyes and all that. He didn't get
married till he was sixty. He married a twenty year
old Maria Hamilton, no relation to Alexander. They had seven kids. Yeah,
and he was sixty when he got married.

He's always and money. He's always been on the VP
record label and Green they're the distributor also for Greensleeves Records,

in England. In his career he was known for his rivalries.
