Speaker 2 (00:47):
The money Metro say five seventy LA Sports. We're live
everywhere on the iHeartRadio app. We got Dodger Baseball tonight
from the Galpin Motors Broadcast booth. First Pitch coming at
seven to ten pm, taking on the WA Washington Nationals.
David Vessey will join us in the very next segment.
Tim Kates, if you're just checking in here at the
top of the hour with the big breaking news shared
(01:10):
with us in the last segments.
Speaker 4 (01:12):
That hammer came down Matt, I mean that he might
as well be Ray Rice.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
One game each, Mike Schill, Dave Roberts, and outside of that,
just Suarez with the three games for intentionally beaming sho
Hey Otani and.
Speaker 4 (01:27):
That did he beat him? I mean he was close.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
Seemed like he was pretty intentional in his.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
I mean no, but like when you beat him, that's like,
did he hit him in the head? Oh, I got you,
because if he hit him in the head, Matt, I
don't think we would have been able to do any
other news today.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Oh, you're definitely right. But it was awfully close to
being a bean ball. What that then signifies the head?
Speaker 4 (01:49):
It was? It was. It was toward the head and
mat close to comp no doubt about that. So Dodgers
on deck with Tim Kates at six, first pitch at
seven ten. It is not the pos with all the
pee and vinegar and weeping and moaning and gnashing of
the teeth. In fact, it is the Washington Nationals who
(02:09):
have not won since April. So they plugged O'tani and
Otani made the peace in the end, and we will
discuss it with David Bame. You know, Matt, I mean
what I mean That's that's the stuff. Leadership, true leadership, forgiveness,
(02:32):
that's the true power. Now that being said, we don't
know what he told them in Japanese. You know, we
we played we played some sound that was actually Danil
Medvedev andipas No And I guess Manny Machado's first language
was English as he's from Florida, So I's wrong about that.
(02:54):
And I'm sorry corrections and retractions, but.
Speaker 5 (02:58):
Corrections, and.
Speaker 4 (03:01):
So I don't know. I don't know. We just know
that Dave Roberts and Schilt both out for a game,
and Olmar Suarez from the movie Scarface played by f
Murray Abraham. What did he get? Three? That's true? So
that closes it, I guess. But we will still discuss
(03:24):
it with David Vasse and I'm sure San Diego social
media will be a flame because people seem really upset
in San Diego over this. We also had a pretty
good conversation with Don McLain.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
I thought, Matt, yeah, Don talking about what's going to
be an awesome game seven on Sunday between the Thunder
and the Pacers, about the sale of the Lakers to
Mark Walter, and mentioned that ownership is a huge deal
to players and free agents and how that's going to
benefit him. So if you miss that, be sure to
check that out on the pod as well. NBA Draft
(03:57):
coming up this well a week less than a week
from today, so don going to be in for that
as a matter of fact.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
And the Mike Shilt versus Dave Roberts, how long will
it last? Will there be Patrick Mahomes Senior John Rocker
style fight scheduled for the off season and that fight
was killed by by Brittany Mahomes.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
A legend, Yes it was.
Speaker 4 (04:19):
Unfortunately you said you noticed something about Brittany Mahomes this offseason.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
I did not. You said that, Oh did I? I
have not seen anything from her?
Speaker 4 (04:28):
Are you sure?
Speaker 6 (04:29):
Well?
Speaker 4 (04:29):
Maybe I should send you a text?
Speaker 2 (04:30):
Yeah, I'm good. I don't need anything.
Speaker 4 (04:32):
No, come on, man, I got a dark web guy.
It's time for the word of the day.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
His words the word of the day.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
Well, this isn't cool. The Angels, fresh off the East
Coast road trip, are back home tonight at the Big
A taken on the Houston Estros and Angels manager Ron
Washington stepping away and definitely due to health concerns. Oh no, yeah,
he's not gonna he's not gonna manage. They made the
announcement about thirty minutes ago, so it's breaking news. Not
(05:04):
clear what the health concerns are. He's seventy three years old.
Second season managing the Angels. They just had a pretty
good road trip. He'll be with the team tonight watching
from the sweets and bench coach Ray Montgomery will manage
the team moving forward. Ron Washington's been around the game
a long time, well respected. We know that Fred Freeman
(05:29):
calls him Ronald Ronald Frederick. Yeah, and he's doing good
things in the Halos organization and developing a lot of
young players. So whatever his concern is, we hope he
gets back soon to manage the Angels. No snarkiness. There
unfortunate news coming out of Anaheim.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
It is time bloody Washington.
Speaker 4 (05:52):
That's right. Didn't he came on when he got hired, right,
we had him on? That's true.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
Yeah, Yeah, that's good.
Speaker 4 (05:58):
All right, It's time for the number of the dact.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
My number number of the day.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
Number of the day is one million, one million. Now,
our old boss might get real upset at this conversation.
I hope our new boss, Brian Long doesn't feel the
same way exactly. It's to say all your names.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
It's that. The other day, I was like, God, he
got mad because we were saying their names.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
Yeah, and making fun of Kevin Figures for attending a dumbass.
Speaker 4 (06:29):
Michelle Beatles bar party super Bowl party that Michelle Beadle hosted,
and we were making fun of him who we hung
out with. So h, Mason there, shut up, just say
all their knaves.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
I followed Dave mcminnimon on Twitter covers the NBA for
ESPN covered the Lakers for a long time, so a
lot of the Twitter followers or follows that we have
been there for a long time, right, you know, you
just don't unfollow these people. Followed day when he was
covering the Lakers and I was doing the Laker games.
So he retweeted something today and it was his appearance
(07:04):
on ESPN LA And there's a video of the radio
show of Mason and one of the Kamanatsky brothers interviewing him,
and in the background I noticed something that says one
million plus followers, So I decide to enlarge it to
see what does that say there, and it says one
(07:25):
million plus followers. H celebrating the largest sports radio station
social media following in America, And I say to myself, Wow,
I mean, our man, social met does a hell of
a job for an AM sports talk radio station. Our
(07:46):
socials are freaking on fire. Yes, particularly Instagram, which is
where the majority of this stuff a lot of dods, right, Yeah,
the Twitter has kind of died off and Instagram has
really come on because of the video and whatever. It's
just the way where so.
Speaker 4 (08:02):
Tweater for breaking news, Instagram for these videos stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
So I look at their feeds just to see, like,
are they really outpacing what social MAT's doing? I just
if I'm that hard to believe. And I see that
they have over one hundred thousand Twitter followers, Okay, and
they have and to put in perspective, the A five
(08:27):
seventy LA sports as one hundred and fifty thousand Instagram followers, correct,
ESPNLA has two hundred and ninety one thousand. It's like, damn,
that is double what we got. How in the hell
and what in the hell could they be doing over
(08:48):
there that could possibly? Is it strategically placed mirrors? And
I get into it.
Speaker 4 (08:57):
In that Conan movie.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
And then I get into it, and I'm like, all right,
let's just kind of see what they got. So I
go through today's posts. Their first Instagram post has seventeen
likes and zero comments. Their second has six hundred sixty
seven and twenty comments, their third one hundred and twenty
eight and three comments, five eighty one and thirty six
(09:22):
ninety three and forty seven and six fifty one and
twelve for a feed that has two hundred and ninety
one thousand followers. I then popped over to ours and
I say, all right, what do we What do we
got for ours? With half the followers, we got nine
eighty three, eleven sixty one, one thousand, seventy eight twenty
(09:46):
nine hundred seventy three fifty three hundred ninety four thirty
one hundred and six fifty nine hundred and fifty four.
Speaker 4 (09:53):
Are you alleging that their Instagram feed is bloated? I'm saying, lethargic.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
If you want to bloat your feed?
Speaker 4 (10:04):
Are you making a bot? Call Matt if.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
You want to, if you want to bot it up? No, whatever, Fine,
but don't put a sign in your studio that says
one million plus followers the like not in La. It
is the number one of all sports radio, celebrating the
(10:29):
largest sports radio stations social media following in America.
Speaker 4 (10:34):
Maybe they have a lot of followers on MySpace.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
That could be it. They add it all and blue ski.
Speaker 4 (10:41):
Oh yeah, I'm.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
Just saying, if you're claiming three hundred thousand followers on Instagram,
you might want your top six posts to at least
get here's the next one? One hundred likes, six hundred likes.
It's uh, doesn't add out to you, Matt, call it bs.
Speaker 4 (10:59):
The followers and the action seems like all hat and
no cattle to you. Is that what you're saying?
Speaker 2 (11:05):
That's right?
Speaker 4 (11:06):
If you've got that many followers, where's the action? You
don't have the action? Yeah? If you went, if you went,
if you're trained at the Kumatae, where's all your trophies? Right?
Speaker 2 (11:17):
And I got eleven years ago today Clayton Kershaw No
hitter fifty eight hundred and ninety one. I got freaking
Fred talking to the camera with his step and repeat
at twenty five hundred and thirty nine.
Speaker 4 (11:27):
Well, nobody's mastered social media like Fred and Menace from
The Woody Show. That's proved.
Speaker 3 (11:34):
Ronnie this is the song of the day.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
Summertime is the title of our song of the day from.
Speaker 5 (11:43):
An all rock band out of Bristol, England called The Sundays,
because today is the first day of Summer of twenty
twenty five, which happens to fall on a frog Man Friday,
where the Petrosen Money Show is finishing off the week
with three hours of great sports talk as the Dodger
Home Stand continues with those Washington Nationals in town for
(12:04):
the weekend, and Tim Kates will set the table for
you with your Morongo Casino Dodgers on Deck program that
begins at six o'clock.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
You running, Hey, that's that's a pretty big fish spring
no teeth in its.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
Mouth, like whatever you want to cook it cook the books.
Don't advertise that you cook the books. Hey, check this out.
It's got more followers on social media than any sports
radio station in America.
Speaker 4 (12:37):
Is that's right?
Speaker 2 (12:37):
Let me go show.
Speaker 4 (12:38):
Shut them to listening to the waves out here. Let
me see what's going on. There's social media, sons of
freaking Mike Shilt. Well done, Ronnie, We'll be back. What
a tough story of the day.
Speaker 3 (13:06):
How's the stream stream commencing?
Speaker 1 (13:08):
Broadcasting on a M five to seventy LA Sports and
streaming on the iHeartRadio while it's.
Speaker 3 (13:13):
The longest running afternoon sports show in the city. No
congratulations necessary. All traces of Fred Rogan have been removed.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
This is Petros in Money, Thank You, Thank You, hosted
by Petros Papadacas terrible person, He's the worst.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
And Matt money Smith.
Speaker 4 (13:31):
The pipes, the pipes, the pie.
Speaker 3 (13:33):
Don't miss an episode. We're with you.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
Yeah, follow the Petros in Money Show wherever you get
your podcasts now Here's Petros Papadacus and Matt money Smith
fan That would be important to know that Marango Casino
Dodgers on Deck coming up at six will jerk the
wheel with the top story of the day.
Speaker 4 (13:55):
Story of it.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
Well. To continue our conversation surrounding Gabron Lames because look
he is and because it wasn't a subtle defense of
his potential claim to being the greatest player in NBA history,
but a flat out plea for the title via his
(14:19):
podcast his why do rings matter so much in the
NBA goat conversation?
Speaker 4 (14:26):
Say Matt, you know people have even most even Lebron
lovers and Lebron sexuals have been pretty boisterous and vocal,
full throated saying, Hey, why'd you go to Miami? That bitch? Right,
A lot of people are saying a lot of stuff
because of what he.
Speaker 7 (14:42):
Said of everything.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
Yeah, why are rings the a all be all? Was
his plea. Now, I don't know, maybe because it's a
team sport and fans aren't quite as caught up in
individual stats as they are their team winning championship and
when it comes time to crown the all time great
with a fictitious crown and thrown much like the one
(15:08):
he sits on, the champion of champions, maybe the number
of times he's led us team to a title doesn't
matter to most people sit on the throne of lies.
Not to relitigate that we don't need to. But what
I realized in the point that he made that he
thought was an interesting investigation in how the media and
(15:32):
fans cover superstar players, but instead was just inane and
way too long for how a simple point. It was
basically defense for his slot in the top five hierarchy
of all time great players. There was a takeaway that
I kind of found, and I found it last night
after the finals game in Indiana's thrashing of Oklahoma City
and the talking head shows that were under the background
(15:55):
as I was whipping up my breakfast this morning, And
it is this, of all the topics that the embraced
debate shows kick around nothing, I mean nothing, It is
not even close.
Speaker 6 (16:14):
This.
Speaker 2 (16:14):
If Michael Jordan is the goat and lebron is a
couple notches below him in most folks rankings, this is
the goat, and there is nothing for three miles. There
is nothing as asinine as NBA debate. If we go
through sport by sport and you were to dig out, Okay,
(16:34):
what's kind of like, what's the nucleus of conversation? What's
the center of argument? Where to? Where do debates find
themselves repeatedly returning to when it comes to each of
these sports.
Speaker 4 (16:48):
Like you know, Nebraska football, why did they kill the option?
There you go, I'll never stop debating that, right. But
I know what you mean, Matt.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
But you know, you actually make a great point because
that is what college football typically centers on, right. It's recruiting.
It's what style of football do they play in this conference?
Which conference is the best?
Speaker 1 (17:07):
You know?
Speaker 4 (17:07):
I mean, I'm not to go on a full on offshoot.
The college football offseason has become shameful, unfortunately because but you're.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
Right, But I think that's typically what we talk We
talk about conferences in themes and.
Speaker 4 (17:21):
The distant second to what you're talking about. What's a
more annoying topic of debate. The distant second isn't even
a franchise, or I mean it isn't even a league.
It's a franchise. It's the Dallas Cowboys stuff that they
just shoved down your threat, right, yeah, that Cowboys. That's
the distant tracond. But the NBA debate is You're absolutely right.
(17:43):
It is centered around one thing and one thing only,
and it is so tiresome and town toweringly tedious.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
It's it hit me this morning when I had the
TV on and this was an actual question. This like
was in the lower third, which is the stripe that
they put the topic on at the bottom of the screen,
and they had each of the talking heads answer, this is,
what is your take if the Pacers win the title
(18:14):
and knock off the Thunder in Game seven? Is Tyrese
Haliburton a superstar?
Speaker 4 (18:20):
The hell kind of topic is that?
Speaker 2 (18:22):
Oh? Wow, what's the superstar? The answer was equally. You
know what, The answer was actually worse, and I don't
want to I don't want to embarrass myself by pointing
out that I was actually watching this program because again
it was a product of what was on last night
and that it was just on this morning.
Speaker 4 (18:41):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (18:42):
The answer was is he a superstar?
Speaker 6 (18:45):
No?
Speaker 2 (18:46):
Very good player, very clutch player. I mean, might be
the most clutch player in the league. Okay, but a superstar? No?
Who cares? I mean, who cares? We have a Game
seven on Sunday. It's been a pretty damn good NBA Finals.
The comeback and the game winner in Game one, the
(19:07):
Game three that was back and forth until Indiana pulled
away to take a two to one series lead in
the final three minutes.
Speaker 4 (19:13):
Again, terrible questions they come up to ask with to
ask these people is enough to make you want to
poke your eyes out with pencil. Yeah. What is Dak
Prescott's legacy right now? I don't know. If his career
ended a day, what would his legacy be right now?
Speaker 8 (19:28):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (19:28):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
If the Pacers win, is Tyrese Haliburton a super And
then here's the follow up, would you care to get
well the follow up because you wouldn't be able to
guess it, because it it's not possible to fathom that
this is how you would occupy fifteen minutes of a
television show. Foklahoma City loses, we're gonna knock down shake
(19:51):
Gil Just Alexander a pig? Oh what's his superstar status?
Because he just won the MVP. He just put together
one of the great regular seasons and has been absolutely
on fire this entire postseason? So if he loses, are
we gonna knock him down?
Speaker 7 (20:06):
One?
Speaker 4 (20:06):
They're gonna pull all those credit card commercials.
Speaker 2 (20:09):
The reason why, the reason why the ring debate is
out there is because every debate in the media in basketball,
and it's about the individual. We never talk about teams.
It's Lebron versus k D, it's k D versus Luca,
it's Luca versus Jokich. It's all a conversation about what
(20:30):
player is the best, as though they're boxers and it's
just a one on one bout. And that's how we're raised.
Like the last three weeks, there's nothing being kicked around
about what's up with the Suns. It's all, well, what
should KD do? Should should KD? Leave or should he stay? Like,
(20:53):
what what do you think Kevin Durant should do? I
saw I saw PK. Suban give an eloquent monologue of
viscerating Lebron for his anti ring when it comes to
the goat debate. Of course, a hockey player, Am my god,
what's the ultimate team sport? Talk about sacrifice? And he
just pointed out, He's like, yeah, nobody cares about that
the con smythe or the heart or the Lady Pang.
(21:14):
All you want is the Stanley Cup? How many times?
And if you're lucky enough to get your name on
the Stanley Cup, how many times can you put it there?
That's it. That's the end of the debate. That's all
anybody cares about. And then he added his other issue
was that Lebron's just bounced around to too many teams,
that Michael Jordan doing everything with the Bulls and Kobe
doing everything with the Lakers for their six titles and
(21:36):
their five titles will always be ahead of guys that
have moved around in order to try and try to
find their path to the finals. And as much I'd
love to as I'd love to hop on that, I
would push back a little bit, because I do think
in this particular time in which we live, where you
(21:57):
have got an entertainment device in your hand at all times,
and they can say all they want that they don't
hear it, or they don't see it, or they don't
care they do. It's impossible not to see it. It
is a constant barrage of Lebron should lead Cleveland. Dan
Gilbert's a crappy owner man. That city can't draw free agents.
He's wasting his career. This might be the best player ever,
(22:19):
and he's gonna waste, absolutely waste his NBA career if
he stays in Cleveland. So what does he do. He
goes to Miami where he gets to hang out with
Dwayne Wade, who had already won a title. Kevin Durant, Oh,
Russ Westbrook. That's a bad teammate. Kevin Durant should be
the alpha, but Russell Westbrook will always be the alpha,
and he will always defer to Russell west Kevin Durant's
(22:40):
got to get out of there or he's wasting his time. Yeah,
your career, you know. Like so Rabbit Ears takes off
for Golden State. He wins his titles. He's the best
player going away for those two championships, it's not close.
You can see what it looks like when Kevin Durant's
on the floor right next to Steph Curry. He was
the best player on the team. And then what happens, Well,
(23:03):
Kevin Durant got to go somewhere now proof he can
do it without step Kevin Durant can't be staying Itvin.
Kevin Durant wanted me to go. Kevin Durant's got to
go prove he can do it without Stephen Draymond, because
they already did it with I What do you want
him to do?
Speaker 4 (23:16):
I mean, you know, but I remember when the Lakers
won and Kobe said, you know, they were like, what
does it mean to you? Means I got one more
than Shaq? And it's like, okay, right.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
No, it means the Lakers got title number sixteen. That's
what it means. You're absolutely right, And it's all been
conditioned very prevalent. Yeah, not by the ring culture. It's
by the individualism that the media that the talk it's
not the media, it's the talking head shows. There's still
(23:46):
great beat writers out there, there's still people that are
doing you know, great work covering the league, but it's
it's the I've got to get as many clicks as
possible by saying something completely ridiculous and create some sort
of online audience because who cares what our TV ratings are.
I've got to be able to count my likes and
(24:08):
reposts on social media, and that's how we measure success
for these shows. And who the hell is gonna retweet
or repost something that's just breaking down what a great
game seven we're going to be treated to on Sunday
based on what we've seen in these previous six games.
Speaker 4 (24:26):
You know, you're right. They can't make their bones pushing teams.
You know that it hurt them when the Detroit Pistons
were good and they beat the Lakers. Yeah before, look
at the NBA. They have this dying NBA Finals. Though
it's been competitive and fun to watch, it's not doing
great ratings. So they decide they were probably waiting to
(24:47):
make the Laker announcement of the Mark Walter purchase till
after the NBA Finals. We need it now. They need
it now, you know. I mean, it's pretty interesting. What
makes basketball great is kind of watered down and destroyed
by the modern NBA.
Speaker 2 (25:06):
And the funny thing is just like there's there's a
contradiction in in every argument. It's just impossible not to
get a runt. Well, Lebron's not the greatest laker, you know,
it's it's Magic Johnson. Kevin Durant can't be considered a
superstar because he won his titles with stell Okay. Well,
Magic Johnson won all his titles with Kareem abdul Jabbar
and James Worthy, two of the guys they just put
(25:27):
on the that that were on the NBA's fifty Greatest
Players ever. So like it's it's just one constant.
Speaker 4 (25:34):
And the other thing is it's like Michael Jordan played
in six NBA finals and he won all six, right,
and it was the MVP in all six, in all
six and he never lost one. That no one's doing
that ever again. Let it go, Let it go. Stop
doing your podcast and calling it out. You know, did
you hear the latest from Lebron James on his podcast
this week? Matt No how he attacked Michael Jordan and
(25:56):
Kobe Bryant and the triangle offense.
Speaker 7 (26:00):
Now the game is just so much different, you know,
to try to to try to run the triangle offense
right now be very challenging just because how the game
is played and also how defense is covering. You could
take a lot of things away, you know now by
just like switching a lot of things depending on your
personnel obviously, and that's that has a lot to do it.
But I think it was it was great in this time.
(26:20):
But I don't I don't see how he could you know,
it could be good. You can use certain things from it,
you know. Yeah, it's still like you know, you want
twenty one, you know you're twenty one where you pitch.
Speaker 4 (26:32):
It ahead and chase it.
Speaker 7 (26:33):
You know that that's basically an extended version of kind
of the triangle when you hit take it's taking component
off of it, you know. You you know they used
to you know, MJ would be on the baseline and
then you know kind of use the Chicago screen off
off off Louke Longley or one of the centers to
get a catch in the middle of the lane. You know,
there's there's certain things that have been taken if you
watch our game, there's small little bits that's been taken
(26:56):
from the triangle offense that that teams and players run
they're still there, so still has an impact in our game.
It's just the whole landscape is not so what Oh,
it still has an impact in our game.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
It's just like, you're not gonna talk your way Michael Jordan.
Speaker 4 (27:14):
There's your modern NBA talk.
Speaker 2 (27:16):
You're not gonna talk your way ahead of Michael. Look,
nobody is running and and and wait a minute. So
now you're telling me that Michael Jordan was a product
of the triangle because five years ago, it was when
Phil Jackson was being attacked by Lebron because he made,
you know, an irresponsible comment about Lebron and what had
(27:37):
Lebron come back with? Oh, triangle offense is bs You
want all those titles because you had Michael Jordan and Kobe.
So which is it? Wait? Wait? Is it? Is it?
Because the triangle offense really didn't have anything to do
with all those titles. It was because you had Michael Jordan,
Scottie Pippen, Shaq and Kobe when you were attacking Phil.
Or now that you're attacking Michael Jordan and your quest
(27:57):
to unseat him as the greatest player of all time.
Now he's a product of a triangle offense that couldn't
possibly be run today.
Speaker 4 (28:04):
He shouldn't speak. I mean, he started by saying it
doesn't matter, and then he talked himself into it.
Speaker 7 (28:08):
Now the game is just so much different. You're right,
Matt is just the whole landscape is not.
Speaker 4 (28:15):
Every time he opens his mouth his brain falls out.
Speaker 2 (28:18):
Just let it go being wherever you find it's there's
no there's no title when when you're inducted into the
Nasmith Hall of Fame, it's not going to say Lebron
James the greatest basketball player ever. Doesn't say Michael Jordan
the greatest basketball player ever. You will still have your fans.
Speaker 4 (28:36):
Says that in his special museum though.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
Yeah, oh yeah, the one an Akron with his draft
day suit.
Speaker 4 (28:43):
Just like Batman suit hanging there. It's hanging there.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
Yeah, it's just so. Is Tyree's Halliburton a superstar if
he wins the NBA out, No, he's going to be elite,
but not so shake Gill just going to still be
a superstar if he loses. Ooh, that's a lot tougher.
That's a lot tougher to answ because that was a
heck of a season. Now had a heck of a
season here man, one of the best we've ever seen.
Speaker 4 (29:13):
Is Dame Lillard still a superstar?
Speaker 3 (29:16):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (29:16):
Right? Even though exactly right, Blue, is Dame Lillard still
a superstar? Should we pull him out of superstar status?
And what about LaMelo Ball?
Speaker 4 (29:26):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (29:27):
LaMelo Ball is a unique talent. Is his legacy but
it's very good?
Speaker 4 (29:33):
What's his legacy right now?
Speaker 2 (29:35):
Yeah? What does his legacy right now? And what does
he have to do to change his legacy legacy?
Speaker 4 (29:39):
For who?
Speaker 2 (29:40):
Who is having a legacy conversation about Dak Prescott's Who's
having the Dak Prescott legacy conversation right now?
Speaker 4 (29:47):
I don't know?
Speaker 2 (29:48):
Share that with me, Matt, Sleep Number. The folks at
Sleep Number bed, Mike want to get this guy off there.
I don't like his legacy.
Speaker 4 (29:55):
To me. I think what you should do is turn
off your TV before you go to bed. It'll be back. Yeah,
you're with more petros and money. We'll do the lessons
learn at Great Sports Dot Mack.
Speaker 1 (30:13):
Hello, PMS listener, Did you know AM five seventy LA
Sports has a wide range of LA Sports podcasts. There's
Rogan and Rodney.
Speaker 2 (30:22):
That one is my favorite.
Speaker 3 (30:23):
Dodger Talk with David Vasse, the Dodger podcast of record,
Clipper Talk without a Musk, follow us all and many more.
Speaker 1 (30:30):
Just go to Am five to seventy LA Sports on
the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
And an obvious act of retaliation has been suspended three games.
Speaker 4 (30:42):
All right, it is time for the lessons learned in
great sports time.
Speaker 5 (30:47):
Twitter about town picture, I guess you delivered an't really
sick burn.
Speaker 9 (30:53):
Thomas with no concerns.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
The sense learned.
Speaker 4 (30:57):
All right, we'll start it out with lesson why Lexion
know well? We talked to Eric Carrolls live from Dodgers
Stadium on the day that Sho hailed Tani made his
pitching debut. Never pitched before ever in his life before
he pitched on Monday for the Dodgers. That's why it
(31:17):
was such a big event and we were there to
cover it. And here's Eric Carrows on South Bay nostalgia.
What do you miss that's not there anymore? And I'm
not I'm not asking because we can't. I miss everything that.
Speaker 9 (31:35):
It was a place for, that was an experience. It
wasn't just what do I miss?
Speaker 4 (31:41):
I I don't know.
Speaker 9 (31:42):
I mean, I think it's just kind of evolved.
Speaker 10 (31:43):
And I don't really miss much of anything because I've changed, right,
And I you know, when I was in my twenties,
I was there and it fit every need that I
I had back then, and you know then as raising
a family there, it answered every question and you know,
and now it's so I I I've enjoyed.
Speaker 9 (32:00):
I've enjoyed it.
Speaker 10 (32:01):
I mean, I to be honest with you, though I
never could have imagined that I would say that I've
been there over thirty years and actually see the change
and look at it. I mean, I've said to you before,
I went to watch you when you were a running
back at Peninsula because it's America.
Speaker 4 (32:16):
I went to that.
Speaker 10 (32:17):
High school game because I hear about this white running
back that is elite, and I'm like, there's no way, Greek.
Speaker 9 (32:23):
I'm like, there's no I.
Speaker 4 (32:25):
Had a long run for you. You were legit. You
were legit.
Speaker 2 (32:28):
So I think what everybody's saying, p is South Bay
a lot better than it used to be. Really like
the direction that it's gone.
Speaker 4 (32:34):
Love to see Colin Cowhern out there, Omari and Hampton
with great addition into Manhattan Beach Uh Lesson too, uh Alexondos,
Matt and his prophecy flashback from earlier in the week,
and it's even more prophetic. Like I say, I'm the
prophet of old today because of what transpired last night.
Speaker 2 (33:03):
A shilt. If Pies wants to be pissed, if he
wants to stare at Dylan Sea's for a few seconds,
yeah that's fine.
Speaker 9 (33:10):
But he is staring at Dylan Cease.
Speaker 4 (33:12):
You're attacking shield for the double standard of exactly right.
The ball hitting guys are running in high and tight.
Speaker 2 (33:19):
Yeah. Running his mouth at Pie is saying, who the
f do you think you are? Shut your face. It's yesterday.
We had all the fireworks. Let's get a little something
to carry over to today instead of a letdown.
Speaker 3 (33:33):
Lesson three lets yon trees.
Speaker 6 (33:37):
Three.
Speaker 4 (33:40):
Well, we talked to James Worthy every week, and it
was a very fortuitous that we had him on this
week on Wednesday, because that's the day that the buses
sold their bag to Mark Walter, who we know well
because he owns the Dodgers. What does it all mean? Wow,
we're gonna find out. But here's James Worthy on the
bus's ownership.
Speaker 6 (33:58):
Oh yeah, doctor Bus is an amazing owner. I didn't
know anyone like him during that time in the NBA,
I just didn't know another NBA owners that had that
kind of you know, insight and you know, that kind
of creativeness, being very innovative and a lot of what
(34:19):
the league did as far as it grows. Uh, Now
you see you know companies, you see you know multi owners.
I mean you still got your Joneses in Dallas and
but but you know you're seeing a lot of you
know a lot of sales of teams that are going
uh to bigger congomerates who can spend tons of money
(34:42):
and they want success immediately. So yeah, it's it's interesting
in sports. You know, when I came in the league,
I think number one draft pick, four hundred thousand dollars.
That's the four tastes. And then you know it, it escalate. Well,
we got a TV contract, things tried to get better
(35:03):
than the balloon payment started. But now it's I guess
it's a young kid say today it's off the easy
right now.
Speaker 2 (35:10):
Big week for the Petros and Money Show. And it
came to timing, I mean worthy on the day the
Lakers are sold already scheduled the sweet appearance for PMS.
When Altani makes his first start, Rarely do we get
the timing luck, but this was a week for the ages.
In our nearly two decades of service as sports radio hosts.
Speaker 4 (35:29):
We missed the Heimi Hawk has being drafted, and I'll
never get over that.
Speaker 2 (35:33):
That was missed it by one minute.
Speaker 3 (35:36):
Luzz it far Lexion Quadro.
Speaker 2 (35:40):
That's an aquatro.
Speaker 4 (35:43):
Chat Stedman from the Greatest movie ever made, nineteen ninety
three's Rookie of the Year and his Salisbury State.
Speaker 8 (35:50):
Hey rookie, come here, emc. What'd you get chicken fingers?
How are they good?
Speaker 3 (35:59):
How are you?
Speaker 8 (36:00):
One of the best Salisbury steaks have ever had in
my life? You want some?
Speaker 3 (36:03):
Sure?
Speaker 8 (36:05):
One of the best Salisbury steaks have ever had in
my life? You want some?
Speaker 3 (36:08):
Sure?
Speaker 4 (36:09):
I got a text that said Matt calls himself a
sports journalist and he's never watched this movie. What's he
been doing for thirty years?
Speaker 2 (36:16):
It's true. Now that I heard the Salisbury steak, I'm
reconsidering you better my immediate future.
Speaker 4 (36:22):
Well, I made a mistake not playing it right off
the bat. I blame myself. We got another hour a
great sports talk coming up. We have David Vassey live
from Dodger Stadium with all the fallout and hurt feelings
from last night. Fun Fact Quick hits Dead and Live,
Guy Bertie in the Day, and there comes Tim Kaitz
with Morocco Casino Dodgers on deck
