Jay Harris said his time in Pittsburgh was tough because
once Big Ben Roethlisberger retired, there was no leadership on
offense and the offense got worse every year. Here he
is and to sit down with k cal nine.

It was just a team where, you know, we lost Ben,
we lost out of the old line. We just didn't
know anything on offense. Really, we didn't have idea. We
had a young guy coming to that quarterback. You know,
I was young, the team was young, and I really
didn't have nobody to almost learn from the offensive side.
I think the the veteran guy on that team was
it was like a like a two three year vet.

And that's the thing, you know what I mean, Like
he still learned himself. And I'm coming in and you know,
I'm just trying to look for people to to, you know,
pick their brain off of. And it was just defensive guys.
So I'll go to the defensive as I talk to him.
But you know, it wouldn't be too much they could
tell me about the offensive thing, you know what I mean.
So you know, the through our years, I learned a
lot that you know, only I learned firsthand. And I

feel like here, you know, I mean, we got a
lot of veterans that I could learn even more stuff from,
and even at the quarterback position and the old line position,
you know. So it was a it was a it
was an interesting year there.
Speaker 3 (12:24):
I'll just say that, Yeah, this one's making the rounds.
I think I sat down with Chris Hayry, who I
do the pod with over there at the Chargers website,
and I think, I guess it's it's just the NFL, right,
that they want to make a story out of anything
and everything. When all he said was, yeah, my rookie year,
I made the Pro Bowl, I rushed for twelve hundred yards.

Ben was the quarterback. There was a ton of leadership
in that room. And then the next year it was
Mason Rudolph and Kenny Pickett and all the offensive linemen
were retiring and we got really young, and yeah, kind
of just got worse from there. We were never able
to replace a guy that had that sort of leadership
and was was that type of personality.

Washington Capitol star Alex Ovechkin is close to history.
Speaker 3 (14:27):
Matt, Yeah, he's a gonna pass the Great One thirty
nine years old. The Vechkin been a blast to watch
during his stint in the NHL. He's been here for
a long time and he's about to break Wayne Gretzky's
all time goals record. Currently has eight hundred eighty eight
career goals. He only needs seven more to break the

Great Ones record of eight hundred ninety four, but it's
getting tight. He's got thirteen remaining games with the Caps
in order for Ovechkin to break that record.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
So is he retiring at the end of the year.
Speaker 3 (15:03):
I don't think he's retiring him and he's still a
really good player. But man, you know, come back for
another season. You're freaking Ovechkin. You'rena be forty years old
playing hockey.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
That's maybe he can go to the Lebron James Juice
Club and feel great next year.
Speaker 3 (15:18):
There's you know what I do believe that's the thing.
Speaker 1 (15:21):
Score then if you look, score the score the uh
score the goals and then won two three capitals and
then roll out.

Like if you if you pull up Ovechkin like he
looks old. He looks really but he's I mean, it's
not like he's Lebron, right, He's got thirty five goals
this season. It's fourth best in the league.

Weathered by the hockey, we've been weathered by great sports talk,
