the background, leve will be right here.

really kicky in the balls blackmanta, So I mean, you know,
you may think it's just I'm gonna go down there
(05:58):
and I'm gonna see some sweet and some sea lions
and some freak of dolphins. Next thing you know, you're
on the back car of a coaster getting whipped over
the top of the feastyep drop.

And maybe you can call somebody to lecture you about
the dangers of animals and captivity while you're.

Speaker 4 (09:29):
Come on a difference from yesterday, from yesterday to today.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
Well, that's what I'm saying about what we've had.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
We're like a rolling ball of We're like a crap magnet.
We just we we add more crap as we move
on down towards Elsagondo, towards the dirty water treatment plant.
Speaker 4 (09:46):
And by crap you mean worth their weight in gold prices.
You can consume.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
Absolutely, and we'll even give people our cheap best fishing poles.
When it's all over, We're never using those things.
Speaker 4 (09:55):
Excuse me, Yes, we will, going right to s pipe
and dropping that thing in the water. I'll take you
to fish.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
Take sure, I'll shoot you an s pipe.
Speaker 4 (10:05):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (10:05):
It is very exciting that we do have a lot
of things to give away, and we do realize that
when we do these shows, they're grabbing hands, grab all
they can all for themselves after.
Speaker 4 (10:17):
All, after all, Yeah, and we're gonna have to go.
I gotta get on that. We got to figure out
a way to not just read the numbers. So people get.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
Upset, What do you Why don't Matt, why don't we
get life sized rings, like not the size of hula hoops,
but not the size of the ones that go on
the coke bottles of the carnival somewhere between there and
we can everybody can stand up like a donkey, d
like a big dildo and we can try to throw
rings on people's heads and if the ring makes it
onto their head, then they get the Westinghouse or something.
Speaker 4 (10:44):
I believe we did say that he is in favor,
that he's just got to make sure it's all right
from a square footage standpoint, to do the the kiddie
pool with the bunch of rubber ducks and the prizes
on the bottom of the rubber ducks as well, that
we may be able.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
To that's not a bad idea either.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
So I like the carnival games, though, Pete. Instead of
throwing the hula hoop around the block, you know, the
raised block.
Speaker 3 (11:10):
This will be stand like a Donkey d challenge, right,
I like it. Well, Matt, you know, there's a lot
of excitement with the Dodgers versus the Pod there's a
lot of excitement in general. Tensions are high, and with
the Dodgers and Padres in town, everybody's riled up. Everybody's excited.
(11:31):
David Vasse will join us next and by in town,
I mean in San Diego coming to town next week.
We have our big event to be excited about.
Speaker 6 (11:43):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (11:44):
People that don't you know live here or texting us,
like you know, like your house is being burned down,
Like are you okay?
Speaker 2 (11:50):
But yeah, we're all right, but thank you for your concern.
Speaker 3 (11:56):
Hold on, let me go look, let me go look
outside of my window here at Pallas Verdi's States, and
I'll let you know. Yeah, no, I don't see anybody
coming yet, but text me back and I'll let you know.
But there's a lot of tension out there and a
lot of excitement, mostly because of the Dodger Padre And
is it put here on the station, Matt, you hear
it in the promost? Twenty first century rivalry. That's a day,
(12:19):
that's right, Yeah, twenty first cent like that bad religion song.
Speaker 4 (12:22):
Twenty first century Digital boy rivalry, San Diego County.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
That's what it is, exactly, Yes, that's twenty first century
Digital boy rivalry San Diego County is exactly what I'm
going for perfect.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
I'm gonna make it out. When to advance that runner
over to third, it changes the defensive alignment.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
At a one to one pitch from Perolta, Edmond swings
hits a crambo off the middle, off the.
Speaker 5 (12:55):
Second base back in the right field, Pop has hustling
home more.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
It's like to six yeah, so a lot, a lot
of excitement, right, But Matt, you know you're around the
football team.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
You know you're around the football team today. You know,
there's such a thing, especially in OTAs. You know, guys
like anyone, no pads. People aren't you know, people aren't
used to getting hit. People aren't in football shape, so
to speak. Everybody out there could get a little too
geeked up. You know, you gotta hold them back a
little bit. You gotta pull the reins in a little bit,
(13:32):
you know. And and and with the Dodgers and Padres
again tonight and then again tomorrow. There'll be two Dodger
games after we're done today, and then we'll be on
late tomorrow. I mean, there's a lot to process. And
we don't want to get over our skis. We don't
want to get ahead of ourselves.
Speaker 4 (13:49):
You're saying, we don't want to freak out over one
game that we got two more.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
We got to calm down.
Speaker 4 (13:53):
Time around the air, we got to kind of slow.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
We gotta calm down, you know. And I don't know
if we should play low frequency music. It was wild game, it.
Speaker 3 (14:01):
Was Matt, But I don't want to sit in here
and blowing our our our our juice, you know, our
good great sports talk juice or sports talk you.
Speaker 4 (14:12):
Know, taught me the decorator.
Speaker 3 (14:16):
You know, we we don't want to use our juice up.
So I suggest that we bring it down, Bring it down,
sim it down now.
Speaker 4 (14:23):
But everybody's off, all round up.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
I got a great way to bring it down. Everybody's
all round up. We're gonna bring it.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
We're gonna go down to San Diego and we're gonna
go semi live to whatever bougie ass team hotel the
Dodgers are in in a resort in San Diego. It's
not the Coronado I checked it would be. You know,
something like an hot was shot here?
Speaker 2 (14:45):
What's that? You don't know what that?
Speaker 3 (14:47):
Ndred year old movies off a pitch. We get down
to San Diego. Mookie Betts has Jackson Merrill on this podcast.
You listen to today it just dropped today, and you
listen to how calm and relaxed. You know, the way
we come on the air. We come on the air,
we're screaming about SeaWorld. Man, We're slitting our own wrists
(15:11):
over SeaWorld and west Man come, We're playing the Timpany.
We're talking about the brig Big Green Egg. We're solving
Armenian problems in Glendale with Henrik. I mean, we're coming
in guns blazing. But listen, you want to relax and
be calm and know what it's like to have confidence
in your ability to be even keeled at all times.
(15:35):
Rookie Bets Podcast people.
Speaker 7 (15:37):
Welcome back to on Base Live and your Bleacher Report.
Speaker 8 (15:39):
I am your host, Mookie Bets, and today we have
a twenty twenty four all Star, the first Padres rookie
to ever make.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
All Right, that's too exciting, may get a little less
excited and.
Speaker 8 (15:52):
At twenty twenty four silver Slugger mister Jackson Merrill, how
are you doing?
Speaker 4 (15:56):
Bro? Good?
Speaker 9 (15:56):
How are you are?
Speaker 7 (15:58):
I'm good, Bro.
Speaker 8 (15:58):
You know, it's crazy to see you come up and uh,
to see how young you are?
Speaker 2 (16:03):
Bro?
Speaker 7 (16:03):
Like God, really, I remember being that young.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
About Hey, Matt, It's crazy, I say. Sometimes I see
Ben they intern and I'm like, it's crazy for me
to see how young you are, man, because I'm like God,
I used to be that young.
Speaker 4 (16:18):
Remember when Joe Buck launched a show by asking Paul
Rudd if he gets recognized in the airport. It was
the first question he launched a brand new talk show,
Crazy Got Paul Rudd and the Hey, I got to
ask you, man, you know all these TMC cameras run
you ever get recognized in the airport? I think Mookie
went to the Joe Bucks School of Interview Skills. You know,
(16:40):
how can I come flying out the gates? Hey man, Crazy,
how young you are.
Speaker 7 (16:44):
Mister Jackson? I'm good, bro.
Speaker 8 (16:48):
You know it's crazy to see you come up and
uh to see how young you are?
Speaker 7 (16:52):
Bro? Like, god, well, I remember being that. We'll talk
a little bit more about that.
Speaker 4 (16:58):
I can't wait. You're not going to fast forward to part.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
Every once in a while I look at my twelve
year old son and I'm like, man, God, I remember
what it was like that.
Speaker 8 (17:06):
We'll talk a little bit more about that, because we
got I got ten years on you, bro, ten years
of eight I would have. I mean, I remember sitting
in your a year seat, and remember when somebody else
was ten years older than me, and I looked at him,
I'm like, man, he's.
Speaker 7 (17:19):
Old and understanding about me.
Speaker 1 (17:21):
Dude.
Speaker 9 (17:22):
That's the whole team, won't come on. The whole team
is the same way.
Speaker 7 (17:25):
Yeah, so I don't feel too bad.
Speaker 2 (17:28):
All right, So, man, I can't believe how much older
this guy is.
Speaker 4 (17:33):
You know, I'm ten years older than you. What yep,
all right, let's get out.
Speaker 6 (17:37):
All right.
Speaker 5 (17:37):
Well, there's actually a really good conversation piece they get
into it. It's about fifty two minutes long, and I
listened to pretty much the whole thing.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
Ah, you're gonna sit here and say it.
Speaker 5 (17:45):
I think it's as interesting. I don't appreciate this lallaby
music in the background.
Speaker 2 (17:48):
I got it off there.
Speaker 5 (17:50):
But I think this is like I know how to
push buttons around here.
Speaker 4 (17:52):
I think it's an.
Speaker 5 (17:52):
Interesting topic that I think baseball fans and Dodgers and
Padre fans, which apparently were uniting together even though the
rivalry is at all time. I'm high right now. This
is MOOKI and Jackson Ferrell talking about EyeBlack.
Speaker 7 (18:04):
Do you guys have a lot of eye black?
Speaker 9 (18:05):
Guys do, yes, And so.
Speaker 3 (18:07):
When you're do, y'all go through sticks because y'all put
a lot Maybe he plays with a feral attitude, Okay,
Jackson Merril, whatever, you guys have a lot of eye black.
It's a little too exciting for me. And I need
to simmer down.
Speaker 4 (18:20):
High Blood Press Tuesday is just a racist conversation.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
We've got to calm down.
Speaker 7 (18:23):
You guys have a lot of eye black guys.
Speaker 8 (18:25):
We do, yes, and so when you're do y'all go
through a lot of sticks because y'all put a lot on.
Speaker 7 (18:30):
There's a lot.
Speaker 4 (18:31):
Y'all go through a lot of sticks.
Speaker 7 (18:32):
Yeah, and I mean it looks great, but there's still
a lot.
Speaker 10 (18:34):
See for me, when I go in the training room,
the three same sticks are sitting there. So they may
replace him every now and then. Yeah, they're always there.
Speaker 7 (18:41):
So do you so, I mean, are you is it
like war paint for you?
Speaker 10 (18:46):
I would say it just like kind of fires you up,
like you know you're going to going to play.
Speaker 8 (18:49):
I mean, so it's not it doesn't it's not for
you to actually block this on or anything.
Speaker 9 (18:54):
I've never used it like that. How you use it for?
Speaker 3 (18:56):
Like?
Speaker 7 (18:57):
I mean, I wore and it was strictly a swag
got him for me yet.
Speaker 9 (19:00):
Yeah, that's what that's what I always thought. But some
people use it for the sun.
Speaker 3 (19:03):
I don't.
Speaker 8 (19:03):
Yeah, Like I've seen a coony and some other guys
they were like stickers right there.
Speaker 2 (19:07):
We stopped.
Speaker 3 (19:09):
Did that man just say that he doesn't understand how
I black works for the sun, that it's just for swag?
Speaker 10 (19:17):
Yeah right, yeah, that's what That's what I always thought.
But some people use it for the sun.
Speaker 2 (19:20):
I don't.
Speaker 8 (19:21):
Yeah, what like I've seen a coonyan some other guys.
They were like stickers right there.
Speaker 4 (19:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
I wonder, wait, wait wait, remember Reggie Bush used to
do that always six n It wasn't just a coonia
I've seen.
Speaker 7 (19:31):
I wonder.
Speaker 8 (19:32):
You know, maybe they don't want to put the eye
blake on their face and they but they still want
the swag.
Speaker 7 (19:36):
They got the best of both.
Speaker 4 (19:37):
Works, because that's that's what I want to block the sun.
Speaker 3 (19:40):
Why have we not, Why have we not, like the
gold Rush, been mining for these nuggets? Yeah, ever since
this podcast drop like three years ago.
Speaker 7 (19:51):
But they still want the swag. They got the best
of both worlds.
Speaker 8 (19:54):
Because that's that's the original reason why I stopped wearing
eye black is because I just got tired of taking
it off. And then I felt like my cheeks and
stuff started getting black because you're putting it on taking
it off every day, your face gets so dirty, your slide,
you know. I love this stuff, and I was like,
you know what, I don't want to keep having to
take it off. I guess got it's pure of laziness.
Speaker 9 (20:15):
And it, dude, this so burns me sometimes.
Speaker 10 (20:17):
Oh really one time I put triangles on my face
and I put on screen on.
Speaker 9 (20:21):
But I guess the black enhances it.
Speaker 4 (20:23):
So I was like, it's gonna absorb the sun. That's
what it does that it absorbs the sun.
Speaker 7 (20:31):
I was like, bid, so do you see you? You
make art on your face?
Speaker 4 (20:37):
So?
Speaker 7 (20:38):
What what's your favorite?
Speaker 4 (20:40):
It's a podcast, mookie, You're not going to a commercial break?
You could. You can stop the conversation anytime you want.
Speaker 7 (20:47):
What's your favorite?
Speaker 9 (20:48):
I like going like a reverse seven, revert reverse seven?
Speaker 7 (20:51):
Does that have a meaning or anything?
Speaker 4 (20:53):
No?
Speaker 9 (20:53):
I just kind of like how it is.
Speaker 2 (20:56):
And he had a glove.
Speaker 4 (21:01):
Wow. Can you imagine being the producer getting in moo
is here? Hey, let's move on from this. Kennedy's done
done four minutes on eye black. Let's go ahead and
move let's move to the next. You know, did he
get did he get? How about this? Hey? Case, if
you listen to the whole thing, did you really do
do that? Or now are you just being sarcast.
Speaker 9 (21:20):
I did skim through fifty two minutes of it.
Speaker 4 (21:22):
Yeah, did he ever ask him about maybe getting robbed
from the Rookie of the Year by Paul Skens? Did
like the one maybe conversation you'd want to bring up
with Jackson Merrill out.
Speaker 5 (21:31):
There to go back and listen to that They got
into you know, we've been in the mine all day.
Speaker 2 (21:35):
You want us to go back. Now we're at the
bar and talking about our day. I mean, you've been
down there for eight hours.
Speaker 4 (21:39):
You know about how young you are? You got the
eye black. Oh.
Speaker 5 (21:44):
They talked about which girls basement is the most talkative
because Freddie Freeman likes to greet the players at first base,
and Jackson Merril said, you got a lot of cool
dudes over in that clubhouse. And then they say, well,
is Freddie the most talkative? And then they both agreed
that Matt Olson of the Braves is very talkative. And
then they talked about the fans and and Jackson Merril
(22:06):
pineapple on my pork. Jackson Merril said that that fan
in San Francisco who's all over social media who makes
like like, hey, Jackson, I heard you don't pay your taxes.
Speaker 4 (22:15):
You bom that.
Speaker 5 (22:16):
Guy, that guy he made I.
Speaker 4 (22:20):
Heard you're a three putt every time on the.
Speaker 5 (22:22):
Golf course, and Jackson Merrill said he's been cursed that
ever since that guy said that to him in the
outfield at at and t Oracle Stadium whatever they call
it now that this last offseason he three putted every
holy play.
Speaker 4 (22:34):
Oh really, he's like the the happy Gilmour guy you
jack asked that guy.
Speaker 2 (22:38):
I think it's called singular Park now.
Speaker 4 (22:43):
I mean I go in and I'm like single and
I can just start swinging all over the place.
Speaker 2 (22:46):
We gotta go.
Speaker 3 (22:50):
That was a riveting moment. Wow, I think for all
of us, you know, we had to bring it down.
Speaker 4 (22:55):
You know well, I would imagine Underdog's very upset that
Bleacher Report was able to see. You're that one, you know,
in the fight for Mookie's pod.
Speaker 2 (23:03):
Oh is that a Bleacher Report?
Speaker 4 (23:05):
Prody said at the start courtesy of Bleacher Report.
Speaker 7 (23:08):
You guys have a lot of eye black guys, holdron one, I.
Speaker 8 (23:13):
Want to see welcome back to on Base Live and
your Bleacher Report at im Spookie bets.
Speaker 3 (23:20):
I mean, man, he really missed out on something. He
could own that podcast himself and be a wealthy, wealthy man.
Speaker 2 (23:27):
Right right. I think it's pretty cool.
Speaker 5 (23:30):
It shows how relaxed these superstars are just kind of
talking to each other.
Speaker 2 (23:34):
Yeah, no, that's cool, kid.
Speaker 4 (23:35):
Yeah, you can snap a photo of that and show
it to me. I mean, I want to listen to
it for fifty two minutes.
Speaker 5 (23:39):
I mean, Mookie brob a great point on this podcast.
He said, there's seven hundred and fifty of them, and
so when they see each other on the field, there's
a respect because it's a brotherhood of baseball players. And
so yes, there's a rivalry and your opponent, but yet
at the same time, you're a brother in baseball.
Speaker 4 (23:56):
So there's things I've ever heard in my life.
Speaker 9 (23:58):
So yeah, I love it. I just love they just
chop it up.
Speaker 7 (24:01):
Just it's great, great.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
I mean, what would you rather do, Matt sit in
San Diego watch those two guys chop it up talk
about reverse sevens on their face. Or would you want
to go and watch those whales get abused at Sea World?
Watch them sit there and do a dolphin show like
a bunch of clowns.
Speaker 5 (24:18):
I mean, the family of four walking back and forth
to the pool at the resort behind them was also
kind of fun to watch.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
Putting the sink on their noses.
Speaker 4 (24:26):
Well, don't you get any more of those triangles, Jackson.
Speaker 2 (24:30):
I don't know how the sun works with the eye black.
Speaker 4 (24:32):
Honestly, I don't know how That'll just do it for swag.
Speaker 5 (24:37):
Hey, Daniel Jeremiah, that's your center fielder. Doesn't understand I black?
Speaker 1 (24:40):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (24:41):
Does ours? Does our shortstop understand it? I think he does.
I don't know if he does.
Speaker 3 (24:46):
Pi has was a major in solar energy at the
University of Havana.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
Let's go Plantains.
Speaker 4 (24:53):
I thought it was Lexico sixty six Cadillacs. Let's go Sion,
Let's go Studa Bakers. Right back with David Masse.
Speaker 1 (25:08):

You're gonna talk to Scanlon next week when the Padres
come up here into our domain.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
Let's talk to Vassa the home of the Doge with
an inside look at the Dodgers. This is the Vass
Report with David Vasse.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
On the scene, fresh and clean last night at pet Co.
David Vase, he was excited before the game, and the
game was a delivery of excitement as well. Here he
is your Dodger reporter from Spectrum Sports Net MLB Network
and right here on AM I seventy eight I Sports
David Vasse. Hi, Dave, how are you.
Speaker 6 (26:17):
I'm doing great. Just spoke to the great Snell Zilla.
He just finished his bullpen session. He said things went
well and the ramp up is underway. He will throw
another bullpen session on Friday and is hoping to mix
in some change up. So that's real encouraging news. And
today show, Hey Otani through three innings of a simulating
(26:39):
eight forty plus pitches, So guys are getting ready for
the second half of the season.
Speaker 4 (26:45):
Dave, this may you may not like this question. But
forgive my ignorance, do we know what's wrong with Snell? Like,
what is it that he's dealing with. I don't feel
like we ever kind of got to the bottom.
Speaker 2 (26:56):
Of that shoulder.
Speaker 6 (26:57):
Oh yeah, it's very clear it was a shoulder issue.
He had a quartersone injection to calm down the inflammation
in his left pitching shoulder. He was pitching through it
during spring training because he felt the pressure to make
his opening day start, when he probably should have pulled
the ripcord and started the season on the IL. But
(27:18):
you know, he had the weight of the big contract
the opening day start that he wanted to fulfill. And
you know, when the Dodgers were in Philadelphia after his
second start, he's throwing a bullpen session and not throwing
the right way and Mark Pryor noticed it and he said,
what are we doing here? And he canceled that bullpen
session snow and on the IL. And it's been, yeah,
(27:41):
very clear. It's his shoulder, A lot more clear than
the discomfort that Tyler Klasnal has been experiencing.
Speaker 2 (27:47):
Oh body, So get that in there, Dave. You're there
every night. You know what this team has.
Speaker 3 (27:54):
You know what they're capable of, and you know how
they can be disappointing. Where do you gain as far
as this year goes, and all the excitement, where do
you engage last night's game and the reaction with the crowd,
it just seemed like an electric atmosphere.
Speaker 6 (28:09):
Petro Stephen Jackson Merrill of the Padres said, if you
did not enjoy that game last night, I know you
wanted the Padres to win, but how could you not
enjoy that game? Because I had so much fun playing
in that game, even though it was disappointing to lose,
and that seemed to be the sentiment from the Dodgers
side as well. It was a great There was some
(28:31):
you know, sloppy defensive plays here and there, but it
was an exciting, entertaining game. And the Dodgers have been
playing those recently, going back to the last home stand
against the Yankees and the Mets and now here in
San Diego, and it's going to continue on this upcoming
home stand, seeing the Giants for the first time this season,
seeing the Padres again for four games, It's going to
(28:52):
be really exciting. And you know, you may be disappointed
on certain nights where the Dodgers lose, but one thing
you could be sure those games are going to be entertaining.
Speaker 4 (29:02):
The Uh how big of a carryover effect, Dave, I don't.
I don't feel like the Dodgers have a very deep bullpen.
Felt like they had to go to it pretty early.
They end up losing that game. I mean, how much
of an advantage does that play for these next two
games considering what they had to burn through last night.
Speaker 6 (29:19):
Well, that's the Dodgers' strategy, right, even in certain games
where you may not expect to see the high leverage relievers,
and even in certain cases the Dodgers lose those games,
but they forced the opposing manager to bring those guys
in so they get a look at those type of guys,
which helps them for the rest of the series. So
they saw all the guys outside of Roberts Suarez last
(29:41):
night from the Padres bullpen, So that just gives the
Dodgers the advantage in that department as well. The Padres
are not using as many innings of their bullpen as
the Dodgers are, but they're really going to those high
leverage guys quite often the first half of this season,
and that's where the difference between these two teams. Are
(30:01):
you saw last night in the tenth inning, Mike shild
had Wandy Peralta on the mound in the tenth inning, Well,
the Dodgers had former padre Tanners Scott on the mound.
That was the difference in the game last night.
Speaker 3 (30:13):
Dave, You know, the Padres are pretty good and you've
seen some. The mats are really good, and they gave
the Dodgers a great shot. If the Dodgers weren't as
beat up as they are, would these games be closer?
Or is it just very competitive right now in Major
League Baseball? Or are the Dodgers underachieving because of their injuries?
Speaker 6 (30:35):
No? No, I mean obviously the Dodger offenses carried them,
and they carried them in October last year. Who won
that game for the Dodgers last night? It was the
Dodgers offense who won that game for the Dodgers last night.
And I don't think we give them enough credit. We're
always so focused on run prevention and what the pitchers
are doing. Flat out, the Dodgers have the best offense
(30:58):
in baseball. We get spoiled in ten make them for
granted because we see them every night and have so
many high expectations, but they have won the majority of
these games for the Dodgers to start this year and
have overcome for the pitching injuries and some of the
ineffectiveness of the bullpen at times. So I give all
(31:18):
the credit to the Dodger offense for the Dodgers being
in first place right now.
Speaker 4 (31:22):
Well, then you just go specifically to last night, Dave,
you said it. I mean the bullpen. After the offenses
are trading punches in the first half of the game,
that bullpen is just matching Zeros with San Diego. And
now that you have Yates back, you have Colpek back.
How much of a difference is that going to make
because we thought that very well could be the strength
of this team. Now that that part of the pitching
staff's getting healthy.
Speaker 6 (31:44):
Huge Turby, it's got the win. Last night he was
facing the heart of the Padres order and he was
able to get through it smartly, pitching around Fernando Tatis
Junior and getting Luisa Rise to kind of go for
a huge swing that he doesn't have the power for
to end the inning. But having gatesback, having Copek back
(32:05):
to go along with Bonda and Vessia and Tanner Scott.
Those are five high leverage guys now instead of just
having Vessia and Tanner, Scott huge to get both those
guys back, And like we talked about last week, don't
forget about Alexis Diaz. If the Dodgers can hit on him,
all of a sudden, they're back to full strength. It's
(32:26):
like a video game when your life is down to
a blinking yellow light all of a sudden, now the
Dodger's life, they have found some gold coins and they
are back to full strength.
Speaker 2 (32:37):
Oh, Sonic the Hedgehog.
Speaker 3 (32:38):
At you, David Vase, Now, Dave, what did you see
from Otani's pitching?
Speaker 2 (32:43):
What did you What did you glean?
Speaker 3 (32:44):
What did you Is there anything you saw out there,
anything prior said to you, anybody's look on their face, anything,
anything you can tell us.
Speaker 6 (32:52):
I talked to one of the minor league hitters that
faced Otani, and I asked him what pitches was he
throwing the most to him? And he said the sweet
So he's incorporating more in more than just a fastball.
And he threw over forty pitches in a three inning
simulated game. So he's starting to ramp up and getting
ready for his pitching debut the second half of the season.
(33:14):
Dave Roberts on the record with us as saying, you
will not see Otani before the All Star Break pitch
in a game. So this is what he has to
do in place of rehab games because he can't go
on rehab assignments. He's got to lead off tonight for
the Dodgers. So this is what you're going to see
every week to get ready.
Speaker 4 (33:36):
Last one Dave, I saw last night money.
Speaker 6 (33:39):
Can I interrupt you really quick?
Speaker 4 (33:40):
Of course?
Speaker 6 (33:41):
Another side note of otani simulated game. After he was done,
he went to go visit with my guy, you Darvish.
And when Otani came back to the dugout, I asked him.
I said, how was my guy you Darvish? And he
said no, no, no Darvish my guy. I said, no Darvish,
my guy. And we're still we're still in a debate
(34:02):
right now. Whose guy you darvishes is Wow, it's going.
Speaker 4 (34:06):
Back yeah, and then and no and then from uh,
from dude, where's my car? Final one for me. Dave
the U was watching Will Smith in the clubhouse last
night when he was asked about the atmosphere here and
the and he was doing the Mikayla Maroney like, you know,
person his lips and like, not a big deal. Are
they just saying that to be jerks, because it certainly
(34:28):
feels like it's a big deal in these dugouts when
the game's going on.
Speaker 6 (34:32):
That's Will Smith and that's the reason why he's a
really good hitter. He has that even keel personality. It's
not great for television, and it's not great for pregame interviews.
By the way, Will Smith our pregame guest.
Speaker 4 (34:44):
Oh no, b.
Speaker 6 (34:47):
But yeah, it's a that's who he is. He's not
putting on an act. Uh. I mean I showed you
the picture of us doing the pregame interview back at home.
I mean, that's not something he creates. So that's what
makes him a really good hitter and a really good
hitter when he's in a big situation. He has one
of the highest ops's in batting average in in baseball
(35:10):
with runners in scoring position, and his personality is a
big reason why.
Speaker 3 (35:14):
What does he say, yeah, yeah, yeah, so yeah, yeah,
do you have anybody tonight or you just get a
rod DOGGT.
Speaker 6 (35:26):
Well, I'll take you behind the curtain. I had a
great pregame interview with Kirby Yates, but my recorder messed
up three minutes in. So we'll share part of that
conversation with Tim Kates on how he strategized facing Tatiss
last night, and tonight we'll talk to tomorrow's starter, Justin
(35:48):
Robleski's and that a good fallback plan.
Speaker 3 (35:52):
Yeah, and Will and Will Smith, well, you know what
tomorrow before the day game.
Speaker 4 (35:57):
What I would say, Dave is just embraced the old
world traditions of the Native Americans. And then you pass
along the interview that Kirby Yates gave you. You know, it's
just like you're sharing the uh, the interaction with the people.
Maybe they can't hear it from Kirby's mouth, but you
can do a darn good job of illustrating it yourself.
Speaker 2 (36:13):
I don't know. And then Kirby said, you know, I.
Speaker 6 (36:17):
Put on my sunglasses. He had his sunglasses on. I
was trying to get the island vibe from him and
really connect with him in that way, and it was
going great. And then I looked at my recorder and
then the writers that don't need to rely on tech,
modern technology like I do, were laughing and mocking me
for not having my interviews. So you know it.
Speaker 4 (36:41):
Dave, I expected to bring that many discs back. All right,
it's not yours, it's the stations. So bring it back.
We'll get a look at you.
Speaker 6 (36:49):
Uh yeah, So I gotta find somebody else.
Speaker 3 (36:51):
I'm still parked with the repall Man outside Vic's house.
All right, we love you, Dave. Have a great night,
and it's gonna be a big night again Dodgers and
then Dodgers padres again one o'clock, first pitch tomorrow. We
help everybody he enjoys the games on the station. David
Vasse will be all over it. Stay tuned for parts.
Speaker 6 (37:13):
Oh now, Kershaw's trying to take Darvish from me, I
mean former off season catch partners. Don't forget Darvish.
Speaker 2 (37:19):
Oh that's right, guy, your guy, Dave claiming.
Speaker 4 (37:22):
Just say that to Clinton Kershaw. Dave, you just said
that to him.
Speaker 6 (37:25):
But he's out there around the shortstop grass area talking
to Darvish and all the Japanese media have their camera
lens is zeroed in burning a hole through their hearts
right now as we speak.
Speaker 4 (37:38):
Thank you.
Speaker 3 (37:39):
Great news from David Vase about Yamamoto, you darbish and
Otani being who's guys, Who's guy?
Speaker 2 (37:51):
My guy?
Speaker 3 (37:52):
And Snuzela of course great news about him, great news
about Atani.
Speaker 4 (37:57):
Not great news about Glass now.
Speaker 2 (38:00):
No one was expecting it though, so no, we sure
weren't Glass not now We'll be d still be right
back with some work. It's still working. It still on
the lab with.
Speaker 3 (38:10):

We make it easy.
Speaker 3 (39:13):
And we know that there's a fire in Burdbank right now,
very close, uh precariously close to Castaways, as Tim Kates said,
and uh a lot of tight sphincters here in the
you can see it right across the way the hill.
Speaker 2 (39:30):
The hill is a blaze.
Speaker 4 (39:31):
They got the copters out there.
Speaker 3 (39:32):
What's our threat level right now? Kate's like, what are
we talking about?
Speaker 2 (39:35):
I mean, what are we going between one and ten? Yeah?
If ten is.
Speaker 4 (39:39):
You've got to evacuate the building.
Speaker 2 (39:40):
The last time where you had to save that lady
in your car from dying, that was.
Speaker 5 (39:44):
Threat level nine, I mean we're probably like threat level
two right now. Okay, all right, good, all right in
the last I mean they.
Speaker 9 (39:50):
Could go to three here in the next.
Speaker 4 (39:52):
Few minutes, next few minutes.
Speaker 3 (39:54):
I mean, I've gotten a couple of textosos like does
Kate knows house is on fire?
Speaker 2 (39:58):
It's like, it's not, thank you appreciate that, it's not right,
it's not.
Speaker 3 (40:03):
No, but this is not the first time we've seen
a fire from the window of the studio and had
great concern about the future.
Speaker 5 (40:10):
That's true, right, Okay, it happens every year.
Speaker 2 (40:12):
Unfortunately, what a time, what a place to live? Right
like Christmas?
Speaker 3 (40:16):
At least we don't have to play taxes or anything
like that or just exorbited living costs to be here,
right right right?
Speaker 2 (40:25):
Anybody?
Speaker 4 (40:26):
Well, you know you take on the risk to feel
the rush. That's what you do.
Speaker 2 (40:31):
Take the risk, feel the rush, Blue crush living in burbank.
All right, some textosos the secret text does a fine
brought to you by your so called Toyota dealers. We
make it easy.
Speaker 3 (40:52):
What's up, Pete? Catching up on Wednesday's first hour from
last week? Money's still a little bit for hating on
Popeye asks about skitty olive oil. Real nice coming from
Skitty Lake McGhee.
Speaker 4 (41:04):
That's true, very true, Petros.
Speaker 3 (41:08):
I'm catching up on yesterday's podcast with all the aggression.
It cannot stand. As the world burns around us and
the people of Los Angeles look to.
Speaker 2 (41:17):
Great sports talk, great sports talk.
Speaker 3 (41:21):
For some sense of order. Yet here you are moving
away from the tradition of hopeful music at noon, all
because wanna be conceal and carry, Kates gonna bug up
his ass first Asian leaning Victor Brick gets the boot,
and now it's Hopeful Music at Noon. What's next, Colin yee.
(41:41):
This is the gentrification of the Petros and Money show.
Very interesting Asian centric text saying Hopeful Music at Noon
needs to be kept because of its Japanese roots.
Speaker 4 (41:56):
And we are your Asian accoutrement show of record. It's
not close.
Speaker 2 (42:00):
Not close.
Speaker 4 (42:03):
I don't think that's how you say it.
Speaker 2 (42:05):
Hey, YopE.
Speaker 3 (42:06):
I listened to the podcast at one and a half
speed because, like Tim Kates, I got a cocaine problem.
But Stacey Q and that they their energy are absolute
bangers at one and a half speed. I love it
and I can't get enough. All right, I love that.
I am a one and a half speed podcast guy
as well.
Speaker 2 (42:26):
All right, come on, guys, we don't need that.
Speaker 3 (42:29):
Hey, we started at three today, okay.
Speaker 4 (42:37):
On the Feelers Skates. Did you reach out to Stacey
QUC if she's available.
Speaker 3 (42:41):
Matt, She's on tour. She's all over the area, right,
she's in Bellflower.
Speaker 4 (42:48):
We don't need her for Elsa Gundo, but perhaps one
of the other five lights down the road.
Speaker 2 (42:52):
I'd be kind of sad with it. Well you're the
guy that pointed out the blinking exit sign.
Speaker 4 (42:58):
Well yeah, shaken it.
Speaker 2 (43:00):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (43:01):
I got a text from a Bernie Frattle. You ever
heard of Bernie Frattle?
Speaker 6 (43:08):
Me?
Speaker 2 (43:09):
Neither.
Speaker 5 (43:09):
Hey, he does the weekend overnights on Fox Sports Radio
is based out of Vegas.
Speaker 2 (43:13):
Okay, well this, okay, Well there you go. I did
not know that.
Speaker 3 (43:16):
This text says Petros. This is Bernie Frattle from Fox
Sports Radio. I got your number from Tom Looney. I
was in town a few weeks back when you unleashed
on Colin Cowhard regarding USC Notre Dame. It was Radio Gold.
Colin has added again today his dissertation marginalizing the importance
of USC Notre Dame is nauseating, ill informed, and completely unhinged.
(43:38):
I agree, Bernie, please act accordingly. I hope you set
the record straight again. I will Colin Colin thought he
was making sense, but frankly looked like a drunk crossing
an icy street. Even Jason McIntyre had a very disgusted
look on his face.
Speaker 4 (43:55):
I don't like where you're going with this, Colin.
Speaker 3 (43:58):
Best to you, Bernie Frattle, Thank you, Bernie Fratto, Vegas Forever.
If Mac can't make okay, I got this yesterday, and
then I got a follow up Okay, if Mac can
make it through the entire show without complaining about the
two to five thirty timeslot, I'm gonna donate twenty dollars
(44:19):
it is name to myself. And then I got this
at the end. Mac didn't even last five minutes before
he started Bitching's true easiest twenty bucks I've ever made
in my life.
Speaker 4 (44:30):
I did not pitch it. I don't feel like I
bitched ones. Yesterday I shot a.
Speaker 2 (44:34):
Little sound it was it was early.
Speaker 4 (44:36):
Snarky stab in the direction of the show before us,
but that was it.
Speaker 2 (44:39):
Well, that's not a snarky stab in bitching. It's just
too totally yeah, completely different.
Speaker 3 (44:44):
I just heard the LA three on three hoops team
add on your show. Is one of the teams really
called the LA Riots? Yes, sir, you know I didn't.
I guess they didn't foresee civil unrest in the summer
at twenty twenty five.
Speaker 2 (45:00):

that I don't know how to use.
Speaker 4 (45:49):
If anything moves, shoot.

Hey, Pete, I just went on a deep sea fishing
trip two weeks back, and I have like two hundred
and fifty pounds of yellowfin. Should I bring it to
the rocket Bruise. Maybe we fire up the barbecue with Henrik. Yeah,
just bring the fish and we'll throw it.
Speaker 4 (46:49):
Just pass it along to the people for free.
Speaker 2 (46:53):
That's not a liability. No, the long we'll cook it.
Speaker 4 (47:00):
By the way, I do believe Dave Wee has come
around to our side. Finally he is embracing the fishing theme.
He recognizes his misqu and I believe he is now
leaning all the way in. So maybe yellowfin and a
Henrich Weber kettle is.
Speaker 3 (47:19):

living spaces gift.
