No congratulations necessary.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
All traces of Fred Rogan have been removed. This is
Petros in Money, Thank You, Thank You, hosted by Petros papadae.

Gas terrible person, He's the worst.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
We're with you.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Yeah, follow the Petros in Money Show wherever you get
your podcasts now Here's Petros Papadaecus and Matt money Smith.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
All Right, I'm gonna do a Brazilian saying and then
I'm gonna say what it means. Okay, yeah, I'm not
gonna do it in Portuguese. Man each monkey on its branch,
which means mind your own.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
Business, hokong me, mind your own f in business. Petros
in Money Am five seventy LA Sports Live everywhere on
the iHeartRadio app a super flex show. Today. We are
on right now at one pm and we will be
off at two thirty. And it is not a Businessman's
(01:19):
Special getaway Day. Instead, it is the Pittsburgh Pirates that
start their games a little bit early out there in Pittsburgh,
the Three Rivers, that beautiful stadium that nobody attends because
the baseball product has not been what it should be.
So every single day, today, Tomorrow, Thursday of this series
will be a three forty pm start from the Galvin
Motors broadcast booth. That means Dodgers on deck at two thirty.
(01:42):
That means Petrosen money beginning at one, followed by a
trip to Baltimore.
Speaker 3 (01:48):
Matt loves all three Rivers. It's PNC Park Now it's
a different park. They built one, you know in the
downtown area.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
It's beautiful.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
The three rivers are the Allegheny, the Monongahela which become
I believe, the Ohio River and there. I oh, and
there's your three rivers. What's the matter?
Speaker 2 (02:10):
Kate?
Speaker 4 (02:11):
Corrections and attractions on Matt. They do sell out baseball
games at PNC Park. When the Savannah Bananas were there
all the banana ball.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
Yeah, compliment on you.
Speaker 4 (02:21):
They had a full crowd there over the weekend.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
Bro. They're gonna show up for steams, They're gonna show
up for schemes versus Snell.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
No doubt they'll show up for the Skime Daddy.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
I think we will talk to David Vassey this hour
about the Dodgers, as the Pennant Race is what it is,
and the Dodgers are on the East Coast right now
and will be all week long, which means we'll have
a lot of flexi alerts. We're gonna be off on
Thursday because Rogan and Rodney have a BJ's remote. I
think they're trying to book Michael Jordan for that so
(02:53):
they can get some attendance, kind of like the Savanna,
kind of like the Banana Ball at PNC Park.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
I'd go see that. If they got Michael, I'd like
to see that.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
Right, he's not going back to see Belichick, right, wa.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
Me out here? You dragged me out here for this bill.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
Yeah. Both both the big college football storylines for the
for the whole off season, which were arch Manning and
Belichick at UNC. Arch Manning at Texas Belichick at UNC.
They were not successful. Over the weekend. They laid an
egg saying the kid from Carlsbad out played arch Manning
(03:32):
and Ohio State looked fine. Texas might be fine, but
arch Manning had some Uncle Rico moments that people are pointing.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
Out, Yes he did.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
And it's been a rough weekend for the Hookham Horns
types and the SEC types. And of course the Bill
Belichick thing was really bad. They got run over by
a good sunny Dyke's TCU team who looked pretty good.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
So yeah, but for like five minutes, man for there
was a rage a live man. The boner was as
hard as Chapel Hill at christ Smithfield was freaking bouncing.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
Oh that really was, It really was. But it was
a great weekend of college football. It's always exciting when
it comes back. And I did a couple of games
that was fun. But the real story is that Matt
is on his way to Brazil. Before we do that,
we are hopeful, hope.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
Hopeful music at noon, hopeful music.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
Dodgers on the East Coast. We have Matt keeping his organs.
We have you know, not being too cavalier in a
foreign country, even though you want to act hard.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
All listen, all the possibilities are in front of me
right now, in this moment, before I board that plane
and we take off somewhere around five pm, all everything
is on the table right.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
Now, you know, Tim, I don't think. Tim just asked
me a question in my ear and what he said
while you were speaking about how awesome your feelings are
right now, Tim said, cards on the table face up.
He's not really going surfing?
Speaker 5 (05:11):
Is he.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
Believe you're gonna do this now? My answer to that question,
since you asked me and not him, is I think
right now, like right before kickoff and right after that
first drive for North Carolina, a game you did on
the radio case Hope Springs Eternal, a world of possibility.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
Yes, the possibilities are reserved and available now whether or
not I end up cashing in those reservations. And after
doing some research, I recognized that the local rental car
companies is what you want to use as a to
the budget or the American companies. Apparently those don't do
(06:05):
as admirable a job with the local insurance and squaring
your way. So I've done that research.
Speaker 4 (06:10):
So you're pulling back a little bit here. Okay, so
you may not go on this No, No, as right.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
Now I told you Tim, it is planned. We don't
want you to go man, No, I want to go
like it is all.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
Right just before anyway, let me just ask this question
as you are a deeply overly ambitious traveling radio guide
when it comes to doing things. Are you allowed to
leave the hotel.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
That I don't know? Okay that I don't know, So
I do know that you've literally been researching.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
That's like basically saying, you know, I'd like to go
to England buy a gun. You're basically going somewhere and
doing something that you're you're researching, doing something that you've
been told perhaps that you're not supposed to. Is there
a gray area there is?
Speaker 2 (06:59):
I think that applies to players and coaches like I
cause you know, the Charger staff has been out there
for three four days already and they're setting up events
for f Wired so there, so it's like, all right,
well they've been rolling around sal polowing out for four
days and getting everything ready. They're doing a big watch party.
The Commissioner is going to be in the middle of
(07:20):
the city for the season kickoff, watching the Eagles Cowboys
game on Thursday night from a place that we're supposed
to go to that's like two hours away from our hotel.
So like, there's things that are set up that lead
me to believe like, well, they're not talking about me.
Like they're not saying, hey, you can't leave. That's the players,
you know, the high profile folks, the coaches, the former players.
(07:43):
That that kind of stuff I think is sort of
what I'm banking on.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
Are you trying to say that you're not a high
profile asset.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
No, I am not a high pro I am a
fifty two year old man with a with a lazy
eye and hair that was not able to get cut
before I left.
Speaker 3 (07:59):
So I love you used to have your stylis.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
Stylishly long hair and uh. I have made contact with
my point person. He is very excited to see me.
I bet he is exactly Matt. This is an awful idea.
I was talking with somebody over the weekend. What do
they do as.
Speaker 4 (08:16):
A family member who is from Sa Paulo went back
and got carjacked? Oh no, while they were back home
and in essence taken for ransom, like they were had
to pay to get back their car and to get uncarjacked.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
What do you mean they were they were in custody
of the kidnappers.
Speaker 4 (08:37):
From what I understood, this family member was in custody
of the kidnappers and they had.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
To really just carjacked. But kidnapped, napped as well. Well,
that's a terrible.
Speaker 4 (08:45):
From there, going back to visit.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
But maybe they weren't going the way that I'm planning
on going.
Speaker 3 (08:52):
Oh it's a different street.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
Yeah, like I'm taking a different route. Okay, I'm not
going into the city. I'm heading I'm heading east. Man,
I'm going straight to the water. Just a bee line
right down that hill.
Speaker 3 (09:04):
Yeah, they don't carjack over that side.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
All got that cool easy beach vibe feeling, man, Yeah, yeah,
it's a hang loose type of vibe.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
Kate and plus matsa surfer. Everybody's gonna know it, right.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
I mean, I'm gonna wear like you know, I'm gonna
wear like the local fair. I'm gonna fit in. I'm
gonna be you know, pumping music like we're listening to
right now.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
Oh, a little Tropicalia exactly.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
And and Kate's m h. Instead of renting the high
end suv or something, because in the with the conversion
rate it was still only gonna be like a hundred
bucks to rent the nice Jeeper or a big suv,
I ended up renting the the cheap four speed Volkswagen.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
Wait, so you've rented a car you've already rented a car.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
Yeah, yeah, rented a car. I've reserved the room, I've
got everything laid out.
Speaker 3 (09:56):
Wait, you're not.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
Go away. I can't take a cab there.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
Where are you gonna park your your rent a car
at the hotel?
Speaker 2 (10:08):
And then I'm gonna leave straight out like I'm going
to pick it up. And as soon as I pick
it up, bing bang boom, I'm out of here. As
soon as you're raped.
Speaker 4 (10:18):
No, it's a good job by you, Matt blend in
with the civilians. I've been watching a lot of Special
Ops Navy Seals movies recently and TV show.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
Wear that Hawaiian shirt that you have, that's what I'm
gonna wear, And maybe I got that, maybe like a
Cuban hat.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
Okay, I can't. I think I have something similar. What
about a sombrero.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
That'll let everybody know that your real bring go.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
I got some uh. I ended up purchasing some uh
some Tom's with the with the uh you know, the
the knit souls on them thingies.
Speaker 3 (10:51):
Those Yeah, some traditional uh footwear.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
So if I got to get out and get like
some water, stretch the legs.
Speaker 3 (10:58):
A little bit, everybody's gonna know you're cool.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
Yeah, that's totally local. But they'll say to Portuguese, we
should get your hair cut in Brazil, not with like
the crazy like Ronaldo, like weird at the triangle. Yeah,
I just point. I just pumped it into the the
Google Translate oprescio de corte de Cabello. Look at that, dude,
(11:23):
I need a haircut. Rolls off. This guy's a local.
Speaker 4 (11:26):
Rolls off the top.
Speaker 2 (11:30):
Let me let me see how to say please, don't
kidnap me now, basic questerday. That'll work, that'll.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
Work if friends, If your friend's relative knew that word kates,
he'd have never been kidnapped. In sequestion, that's true. And carjacked,
I had to get and as you said in your
very very official sounding police tone on carjackt yes exactly.
Speaker 2 (11:58):
So I feel like you know.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
I feel I feel like you should spend your time
at the hotel pool. But that is my opinion. And
as you know, I was too anxious to even take
a walk around East Lansing alone without Dan Helly, so
I am nobody to talk to in regards to this.
We could not be any more different. But your thirst
(12:21):
for international adventure while traveling in what most people consider
to be a very dangerous place with an NFL football
team is perhaps ill advised. And I think, I think
just a little bit. I do think that, just a little.
But then again, Matt, you have to take it with
a grain of salt. I live with and always have
(12:44):
done so, with a great deal of fear and anxious feelings.
So you know, we're obviously very different. But even but
you know, Kates is not like that. Kates is a
man of a relative adventure. He'll he'll go on a
cigarette boat on the Colorado River, He'll do he'll ride
(13:05):
a jet ski, And even Kate's feels like you should
be approaching this with more trepidation. I feel, am I wrong?
Speaker 4 (13:12):
Tim, No, You're one hundred percent correct, thank you, And
I'm not going to stop you from doing it, Matt.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
I certainly can't stop you.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
But I'm just friendly suggestion, like.
Speaker 4 (13:19):
Hey, you know, maybe you would think this, maybe like, hey,
there's the water when you fly over, you have to
see it cuts cool, but maybe you don't need to
put the toes in the water.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
I just I feel like, you know, it's it's it's
it's a city of like twenty three million people, you know.
So it's I mean, to me, it's like La. Right,
there's certain parts of La we don't want to be
hanging out.
Speaker 3 (13:38):
It's all spread out. Yeah yeah, if you're over in
thousand Oaks of San Paolo.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
We're good, exactly.
Speaker 3 (13:44):
Just how do you locate the thousand oaks?
Speaker 2 (13:47):
Like I'm going to like the uh, you know, the
San Pedro of Sopolo. It's gonna be great.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
Oh yeah, that'll be perfect. I mean, I'm not trying
to blame you for your thirst for adventure.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
How do I not go to Brazil and surfed like
it's Brazil? Because you're there to call it football, but
I'll never go back. But you're there to call a
foot like that's the thing. You're there to call a
football game. So driving driving away from the football game, right,
but it's not till Friday, like the game, I have
no responsibilities until Friday at nine pm.
Speaker 3 (14:20):
Moving away from where you're supposed to be in such
a volatile place, to me seems cavalier. I'm just gonna
say it overly cavalier.
Speaker 2 (14:34):
See, and to me it seems like salvation.
Speaker 3 (14:37):
Well you might find your salvation indeed, indeed eternal.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
I just checked that checked the life insurance policy. I'm
up to date, so you know it might end up
working out better for the wife and kid. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
I always think that too, uh in my situation.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
But if you just check case.
Speaker 4 (14:53):
I just texted Isaac low and Crows just to make
sure he's on standby Friday in case he used to
call a game. So case the play by play guy
goes missing in Brazil.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
Well, that's the beauty of the big burd in the sky.
You know that satellite pipe Ilo right in there.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
That's right.
Speaker 4 (15:07):
Wait, Jesus just sitting there with Justin Frosberg, thinking what
do we.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
Do right now? I will say I think it all
depends on how you word it. Like if you type
in is salth Paulo safe, it comes back with a yeah,
it's safe, but not an issue petty theft an issue.
Speaker 3 (15:24):
Do the chargers really want to negotiate you being oncarjacked,
which is what they call it out there?
Speaker 2 (15:30):
Yeah, I don't think they would, right, You know what
I'm saying, You.
Speaker 3 (15:33):
Don't want to be a pain in the ass to
the people that brought you there.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
No, I think it would be a uh. I think
it'd be a straight we don't know who that is,
you know, like a special op, like hey, just so
you know, if this ends badly, nobody knows. No, we
didn't know you were there. Nobody knows who you are.
You just disappear. I think that's how they would approach it.
It's got to be a dollar amount that you know.
(15:56):
They're sitting there in the spanos are like it's one
hundred grand for Smith. Then he's like nope, wheels up,
let's go. No chance.
Speaker 3 (16:03):
Now do you think that? Or have you discussed your
plans with your broadcast partners and the other people involved,
Like are they similarly planning to have the time of
their lives south of the border in Brazil?
Speaker 2 (16:19):
They are not. They are not. They are not planning
on going anywhere. They are.
Speaker 3 (16:29):
I think so this is like you extending your middle
finger to everybody, Like I don't.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
Know if it's my middle finger.
Speaker 3 (16:35):
It's just a like if you guys, I'm going surfing.
Speaker 2 (16:39):
Yeah, Like I'm looking at the the The Brazil travel
advisory most recently updated May ninth, and it says exercise
increased caution. It says you want to stay away from
the borders. I am nowhere near the border. I am
as far east as you can get, so that's I'm
square there. It says stay away from the favelas. Of course,
(17:03):
I'm not planning on going to any of those. It
says stay out of the nighttime club satellite cities. Not
doing any of that. And it says that you know
it's gonna that the violent crimes can occur in urban
areas day and night.
Speaker 3 (17:21):
So okay, well, you're not planning to be out.
Speaker 2 (17:23):
Not going to be any urban areas or at night.
So I suppose I could like pipe in the freeways
that I'm taking and see like, hey, if this is
the route, is this a dangerous route? And it says
the criminals typically target foreigners through dating app apps or
at bars, got it, which I am not as I think.
Speaker 3 (17:44):
They have like a carjacker map that's kind of like
the poop map in San Francisco where it tells you
where the carjackers are and you can avoid it.
Speaker 2 (17:52):
It says be alert to drug scams. I'm not interested
in purchasing drugs while I'm there. It does say do
not walk on the beaches after dark, so that is
one I'm gonna have to avoid. Didn't know how about
this develop a communication plan with family, employer, or horse
(18:16):
or host organization, which I feel like we're doing here.
You know, I feel like I'm developing this communication plan
right now.
Speaker 3 (18:23):
This text says, Hey, pe, it's becoming very clear. Money
is really starting to believe you when you say how
swoll he is. He thinks he's invincible. Hey, he is swool, guys,
I am not. This guy says, I own avocado farms
in Brazil. Tell money not to go to the beach
a horrible idea. This guy says, I work in the
(18:46):
insurance industry and at most major corporations with employees traveling
internationally on a regular basis, carry kidnap and ransom insurance.
Have money find out if the.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
Charges Okay, well, I'll ask, Hey, you guys got kidnap insurance?
Why not just ask? Just curious taking that shuttle into
the city for the big party, you know, to watch
the Thursday night er. So making sure if something goes
wrong on that shuttle bus, Matt's gonna come back.
Speaker 3 (19:12):
A Brazilian superstar.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
Ato trouble there all the time. It's a tourist destiny.
Brazil is a very popular tourist destination.
Speaker 3 (19:20):
I know, right.
Speaker 1 (19:21):
I know, we've made it even easier to take LA
Sports with you this summer. Make AM five to seventy
or your favorite AM five seventy LA Sports podcast a
preset on the iHeartRadio app using Apple CarPlay or Android
Auto road Trip all summer with LA Sports that shrow
(19:44):
some money.
Speaker 2 (19:44):
AM five seventy LA Sports Live everywhere on the iHeart
Radio apps. Coming up this afternoon Dodgers Pirates. And remember
all weekend long we got football Friday, Chargers Chiefs five
pm kick from Brazil on kf I AM six forty,
and then a college showdown the State of Iowa Hawkeyes
versus Syhawks or the Syhawks show down. There you go,
Hawkeys versus Cyclones, Iowa versus Iowa date the nine am
(20:08):
kick right here. As we have got all these marquee
college football matchups moving forward now on Saturdays and then
Sunday we'll have the big one Sunday Night football Ravens
and Bills. So football all weekend baseball beginning today.
Speaker 3 (20:21):
You're not unhappy that we don't have the u c
l A game.
Speaker 2 (20:25):
I feel like Iowa, Iowa State is gonna be a
little bit more of them.
Speaker 3 (20:28):
I mean, look, at Allegian at un LV. It's actually
kind of interesting versus Dan Mullen.
Speaker 2 (20:36):
I think i'd be leaning a little, uh little running
ReBs in that one.
Speaker 3 (20:39):
The ReBs gave up a lot of points to Iowa
State though they won.
Speaker 2 (20:43):
That's they won. But uh yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna lean.
I'm gonna lean that direction, I think in all of
their games. After Sean Foster said they're close, Okay, they're close.
Speaker 3 (20:54):
They only lost by thirty three.
Speaker 2 (20:58):
So close, I think that d line still getting pushed
into me.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
Let's talk to Dave the Home.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
Of the Dodgers with an inside look at the Dodgers.
This is the Vassie Report with David Vasse, the.
Speaker 3 (21:14):
One and only David Vasse live on the Petros and
Money Show. You'll hear him tonight, Marongo Casino, Dodgers on Deck,
Dodger Clubhouse, and of course Dodger Talk. I heard things
got a little salty over the weekend with the Dodgers
losses to Arizona. It is time to discuss it with
(21:35):
our number one guy. A great job on TV all
weekend long. I saw him chopping it up with show
Hay Will Smith. You know trying to get blood out
of that stone. I thought he did a great job
at the real DV on Twitter and of course our
Dodger reporter, Spectrum Sportsnet and MLB Network, Dave, how are you,
(21:58):
I'm doing great?
Speaker 5 (21:59):
And yeah, went back to that walkoff interview with the
guy that saved the Dodgers weekend, Will Smith. As bad
of an interview as he is, that's what makes him
great in those situations. He doesn't over emphasize any pitch
any at that and has told me in the past
that he welcomes being up there with two strikes. He's
(22:22):
not afraid of having a two strike count, and in
that situation, he obviously has a lot of confidence to
be able to, you know, put a great swing on
a pitch that was right in his wheelhouse. So I
think the way he speaks in front of us reflects
just why he's able to be as clutch as he's been.
Speaker 2 (22:43):
He was clutched, Dave, because Tanner Scott had a little
bit of a rough go there.
Speaker 3 (22:48):
That what I'm just asking.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
I mean, you know, Yamamoto gets freaking dusted again for
a win that he was in line to put on
his record, not that he's going to win the cy
Young That ship has certainly sailed, but that ship is
halfway to Tong Kong. That ship is gold. But got
to ask, because you know, you have an offense that
after a hell of a series against Cincinnati, you know,
(23:11):
went dormant for two of those three, and you still
have Kirby Yates out there throwing all glass. Now, I
thought threw pretty well. Tanner Scott was just kind of
the one flashing light, it felt like from the weekend.
And what concern there might be there.
Speaker 5 (23:25):
I think there's a lot of concern and has been
all season long. He just hasn't looked like the same
guy the Dodgers signed during the offseason, and people around
the league believe that Tanner Scott had one elite season,
maybe an elite plus season, and maybe he's not that
elite certainly so far with the Dodgers, he hasn't shown
(23:48):
what he did with the Marlins and Padres last year.
But look, the Dodgers are going to need him. He's
got to figure it out because he's going to be
pitching lading games and that's gonna be tough to overcome.
If he gives up leaps like he did the other
day in the eighth inning, Blake Trunning was all set
to go to close out the game. But yeah, that's
(24:10):
that's a major concern because we have seen four weeks,
five weeks of really good Tenor Scott. But you know,
the Dodgers need the guy they signed, and so far
they haven't seen it consistently.
Speaker 3 (24:24):
David Vasse always consistent. You've consistently been with this team
day for many years, and you've been through pennant races.
You've been through it when they have a gigantic lead,
which do you think I mean, obviously it is what
it is. But do you think this competition down the
stretch is serving the Dodgers to find some consistency or
(24:46):
is it even too late for that because they haven't
been consistent all year?
Speaker 5 (24:51):
I know, yeah, you know, people just want more urgency
from the Dodgers, and you know, it just feels like
it's been a real challenge and to put together complete games,
and they were close to doing that on Sunday, but
Tanner Scott gave up the game tank three run home run,
and Dave Roberts just observing him being so close to
(25:13):
the dugout on Sunday, he really did set the tone.
He wasn't laughing, he wasn't leaning back in his seat.
He definitely had the edge and it starts that way.
And you know what's crazy, guys, is the Dodgers didn't
play well. They lost two out of three to Arizona.
But when they take the field tonight in Pittsburgh, they're
(25:33):
going to be two and a half games ahead of
the Padres. With all that being said, so even with
how poorly they played this weekend, they gained a half
a game and essentially it's a three and a half
game lead with the tiebreaker.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
They just kind of go into the Tanner Scott thing.
And I was going through his game logs because it
was another inning, and it feels like he's a guy
that's brought into some high leverage situations. He continues to deliver.
He's got the ridiculous mustache. But against the Phillies and
the Brewers, Jack Dryer has thrown six and a third
of no hit relief pitching. Do you think he makes
(26:10):
the postseason roster? Is this someone that's gonna have a
role in the playoffs?
Speaker 5 (26:14):
Oh, without a doubt. Yeah, Jack Dryer has been phenomenal.
He's gonna be a high leverage reliever for sure. He's
gonna be one of the thirteen where the Dodgers would
be without him, their bullpen and their record would not
be what it is right now without Ben Casparrius and
Jack Dryer, two guys that are homegrown kids that really
(26:35):
came of age this season. Unfortunately, it kind of looks
like benk Casparius maybe running out of gas, just the
way the Dodgers needed to use him, from starter to
longman to closer. Just seems like all of that's catching
up with him. But Jack Tryer is still going strong.
Speaker 3 (26:53):
You are with Alex Vesia on Saturday and a brewery
and he's hurt right now. I have a hard time
just envisioning him sitting still, but I'm sure he did.
How is he feeling? How bad is he?
Speaker 1 (27:07):
No?
Speaker 5 (27:07):
I mean he reassured me at that brewery in Lincoln
Heights Petros that he just went to Andrew Friedman and
the Dodgers and said, look, I'm feeling this tightness on
my right side now. I just don't want it to
turn into something greater, because if you would have tried
to continue to pitch the way he explained it to me,
he really could have done some damage. But he's out
(27:31):
there throwing aggressively. He threw aggressively all weekend and reassured
me at looks by what I've been seeing, he will
be back after the fifteen days are over. So everybody
knows what's at stake here. And the Dodgers have been
so good not overemphasizing one regular season game. And that's
(27:51):
why a guy like Bessie feels comfortable enough to be
able to go to the Dodgers and say, hey, I
don't want this to turn into something greater than it is,
because as they do have other guys like a Jack
Dryer who can cover those innings. And Jack Dryer, by
the way, is kind of a Alexavestia in the making.
They have similar fastballs and the way they play in
(28:12):
the strike zone. Alex Vestia actually has taken Dryer under
his wing. Their catch partners. They have a lot in
common in including loving chicken cassideas.
Speaker 2 (28:23):
Well, who doesn't love a good chick.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
Who's the chicken? It's me? Then you're with me. Let's
go play.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
We're partners, Dave. I think a lot of people look
at the Pirates as a punching bag just year after
year they disappoint. But this trio of starters with schemes,
Who's who's gonna win? The cy young and uh the
Polish guy and what zinski if that's how you say
his name and Ashcraft like, this is not going to
be easy, right, This is a bit of a tall
(28:50):
task for them.
Speaker 5 (28:53):
The Dodgers are going to have to get these guys
out of the game early. And the Pirates offense is abysmal,
So even if they scratch across a couple of runs
against these guys, they should find a way to win
two out of three. Thursday's the Marquee matchup Paul Skins
against Snell's villa. That's gonna be a phenomenal matchup. And
we all know you know who wants some respect on
(29:15):
his name, So I would venture to say Blake Snell
will show up in Pittsburgh on Thursday.
Speaker 3 (29:22):
Of all the guys the Dodgers need back, Dave, who
do you think is the most important?
Speaker 5 (29:28):
That's not Max Mony, but yeah, without a doubt, Petros
Max Mounsey. He means so much to that offense and
what he does. They need him back desperately, and he
was supposed to return at the end of this road
trip in Baltimore. But he got some chess cold that's lingered,
and he's going to be delayed until the Dodgers return home.
(29:50):
But they need Max Munsey. I mean, take some dake,
will get get to Baltimore, find a way, but yeah,
they need they need Max Monseydavid.
Speaker 2 (30:00):

Speaker 2 (31:32):
I mean technically it is south of the border.
Speaker 3 (31:34):
Oh, there's no doubt, matn.
Speaker 2 (31:35):
In his defense, it is south southeast, considerably further east.
Speaker 3 (31:41):
Oh, here it is, Matt, turn it up. We have
the domain on this. Oh man, can you see the
fog clearing in the morning and Matt walks the streets
two black eyes I'm kidding, no, A satchel of local
(32:03):
goods under one arm, a surfboard under the other. A
pair of traditional sandals.
Speaker 2 (32:17):
I did buy some, uh you know, the the woman
soul shoes woven the woven.
Speaker 3 (32:29):
So old one so like the wind. Maybe a lava
lava around his waist. Oh yeah, walking arm in arm
with his friend Tiago.
Speaker 2 (32:44):
We have established contact.
Speaker 3 (32:50):
Every guy's name sounds like it starts with an H.
Speaker 2 (32:56):
Maybe the friend I envisioned him to be.
Speaker 3 (33:04):
Oh, it's gonna be a beautiful thing. And we got
the game on kmfive. We got Dodgers tonight. That's why
we're on early Dodgers in Pittsburgh. You know I got
a home in Pittsburgh.
Speaker 2 (33:19):
Oh yeah, so does Parrot Bachmeyer.
Speaker 3 (33:24):
Alert. I'm glad they put up eighty on buck Now, Dad,
I mean.
Speaker 2 (33:29):
Geez at Portland State now.
Speaker 3 (33:32):
Oh no, okay, my bad. I'm sorry. It's not like
it's a Max school a right. Okay, Matt, it is
time for how is your weekend? I'm gonna do what
I do. The weekend is mine. So weekend, how.
Speaker 2 (33:47):
Was your weekend? Well, weekend was awesome. Peyton was in town.
We don't get to see her a lot, so everything
wonderful to have her through Monday, and of course, because
she takes after her old man. Friday night, she said,
let's go to al Burrito Junior. Fantastic. We had a
little bacon broil. She wanted some bacon Broyle pie as well.
(34:08):
Over there in Long Beach in the Bixby Noles neighborhood
and ice Peach Raspberry. Saturday, we surfed a couple times together.
Samoa Joe had a backyard pool party for all the
local dawn patrol surfers that I hit up while she
went up to the intriguing USC Missouri state game. Smoked
a little bit of tri tip new one at the pavilions.
(34:29):
Had not seen the Hawaiian spiced try tip before prepackage,
but that seemed to go over well. And a tip
of the cap to Ken, the croissant King of California.
He brought out the good stuff for the private party.
Speaker 3 (34:42):
Somehow, Oh, I saw that picture of you on Instagram
like RG three, like with your whole mouth on the
big croissant, you know, like he did. It was really cool.
Speaker 2 (34:50):
The chriss I had to gain at least five pounds
in croissants. We had a second barbecue that evening over
to the Ludwigs where they've made a fourteen pound brisk it.
So Mike Colon took a bit of a hit. On Saturday.
Sunday went over to Sea Legs Preston a huge thank
you to Brett from Pepper. He was playing Sea Legs
and reached out and asked if Preston wanted to open up.
(35:12):
Van Aaliyah was there as well, very popular Hawaiian reggae artists.
Speaker 3 (35:16):
So Alex was Alex Curry there?
Speaker 2 (35:19):
Alex Curry was not there, all right? I did not
see Alex.
Speaker 3 (35:22):
She's very much associated with Pepper.
Speaker 2 (35:25):
Yeah, I think it was. It was just Brett, So
I don't think Instagram as I I am, I do
follow her. I did not see her in the New Baby,
but a huge thank you he was. He was wonderful
to Preston and we certainly appreciate that. Watched The Good
Doctor over to the Good Doctors to watch his daughter
Annie and Club America playing Pachuca. They got screwed red
(35:48):
card for one of the players, so they played down
one the whole match, ended up losing three to two.
Speaker 3 (35:54):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (35:54):
Then yesterday took Peyton to the airport early served a
couple times, and then kind of did game most of
the day. As I get ready to get out of
here at about five pm the night.
Speaker 3 (36:04):
Wow, Matt, we were so damn well adjusted.
Speaker 2 (36:10):
We'll see. I have a bag full of drugs to
help well.
Speaker 3 (36:13):
Yeah, just you know, the whole weekend, you know the
adjustment of the whole weekend like, I couldn't anyway, I
couldn't do one of those things. Kate's, how was your weekend?
I know that you're working a lot a weekend.
Speaker 4 (36:24):
It was a working weekend for Kat's over here. Friday
night had Colorado Georgia Tech with Compass Media Networks in
the studio. Saturday Dodger pregame watched the UCLA game Saturday
night and could not believe what I was seeing with
my own eyes. How bad UCLA football is in year
two under Deshaun Foster.
Speaker 2 (36:43):
It is a sight to see.
Speaker 3 (36:44):
How do you know? I thought there were no cameras allowed. Yeah,
I thought the game was a mystery to everybody. That's
like the thing. I was like, I was at the
Fox building and I saw that we had the UCLA
game on. It was a big Fox game. I think
Helfrich was down there doing it, and I was like,
how did they let What aren't these guys in the media,
What's going on?
Speaker 2 (37:05):
Someone must have leaked the D line and that's why
they happened seven yards back.
Speaker 3 (37:09):
I never I saw who the starter was, and I
knew how to push him back.
Speaker 2 (37:13):
I knew how to push him back eight yards on
every snap.
Speaker 4 (37:16):
The good thing is that Sean Foster watched the tape
and yesterday told the media it feels like they're close.
Speaker 3 (37:21):
Real close.
Speaker 2 (37:22):
We're close.
Speaker 3 (37:23):
Were Hey, you know, we don't want to overreact to
the first game. You know, Ucla was terrible. The two
storylines that everybody was following all off season, which was
Belichick and arch Manning both laid a gigantic, stinking egg.
But there is such a thing as overreacting to week one.
But truly an interesting week, no doubt, and hey, way
(37:46):
to go Ucla right, just got their.
Speaker 4 (37:48):
Beef boufled Sunday Dodgers pre impost Monday Yesterday, Labor Day,
sat around during the day and watched the TV show
on Amazon Prime called Butterfly. I watched a few episodes
of that, watched two terminal lists, and then headed to
the studio here in Burbanking. Compass Media Networks for TCU
North Carolina from Chapel Bill, which turned out to be
an absolute blowout despite a game an opening drive of
(38:11):
eighty three.
Speaker 3 (38:12):
Opening drive got so many boners on that were just
struck down by God's lightning.
Speaker 4 (38:18):
They had eighty three yards on the opening drive, twenty
yards the rest of the first half.
Speaker 3 (38:24):
He was declared somebody declared him the greatest college football
coach of all time.
Speaker 2 (38:29):
After the first driving.
Speaker 3 (38:31):
By the way, it was like Skip Bayless or somebody
like that.
Speaker 4 (38:34):
How about senior Max Johnson, Brad Johnson's kid who came
in the fourth quarter, played pretty good. Broke his femur
last year in the opening game against Minnesota. I remember
that he has a scar from his right hip down
to his right calf. Five surgeries. He is back playing
a year later. Credit to him. Actually moved the tar
(38:54):
heels offense. We'll see if he takes over as the starter.
But that was my weekend. Guys worked out, we go.
Speaker 6 (38:58):
Ronnie had nice Labor Day weekend, Thank you Tim. Saturday,
I was up early to take my car for a wash,
ran some local errands around town, stopped off for a
couple of breakfast burritos for myself and my wife on
the way home. Yes, indeed, indeed, Tim, We did stop
over at Norm's and came home and did some various
(39:21):
projects in and around the house, including some planting of
some succulents in the backyard from my wife's garden. Saturday night,
we went to Mucho Mas for dinner and a couple
of Margs. Didn't do much afterwards, just came home and
watched the Telly Sunday, we stayed home and made smash
burgers with my sons before our fancy NFL foosball draft
(39:43):
party took place later on that afternoon. Yeah, I think
I drafted pretty well there. Tim and Labor Day yesterday,
I was here for a bit at the radio station,
and I went home to watch the sad debut of
Chapel Bill Belichick in his nc YOU football team that was.
Speaker 2 (40:02):
Really really hyped but didn't pay.
Speaker 6 (40:05):
Off too much. I don't think not this time around anyway.
Speaker 2 (40:08):
That was my Labor Day weekend.
Speaker 3 (40:10):
Petros, what about you?
Speaker 6 (40:11):
That was your Labor Day weekend?
Speaker 2 (40:13):
And Petros really alone?
Speaker 3 (40:18):
All right? Pee? Well, as you guys know, I was
in East Lansing and had some trouble with anxiety before
we left, but I was able to will myself onto
the airplane on Wednesday night on the Red Eye and
get to to Detroit and then to East Lansing, and
we met with Jonathan Smith and his coordinators and I
(40:40):
went out with the walkthrough and all that, you know,
did all the college football announcer stuff that I'm supposed
to do, and you know, drank micro boot brew beer
and ate cheeseburgers, you know, the whole college football experience.
And then we called the game. It was packed, it
was beautiful weather, no humidity, seventy five degrees, all the
kids were in school, sellout game. It was a lot
(41:02):
of fun and Michigan State looked pretty good, though more
inconsistent in the second half. And then we took a car,
a cart to a car to the Detroit Airport, which
has a hotel in it.
Speaker 2 (41:18):
Oh nice.
Speaker 3 (41:18):
You know they had that Weston in there, I guess right,
and it has its own checkpoint. So we were able
to stay at the hotel and then get the first
flight back from la And sitting next to me on
the plane on the way home was our friend Mark
McGrath from Sugar Ray No Way.
Speaker 2 (41:35):
Yeah, So Mark, did he say, I just want to fly?
Speaker 3 (41:38):
Yeah? Well he said, and he looked over at me.
He said, Petros, you know how many times I've been
on this flat. I was like, how many? He's like
every morning? Ah wow? But it was nice to see.
He's such a great guy, as everybody knows and always
has been. A fan of our show and stuff, so
it was cool. And then Fletcher had his very first
tackle football game and uh, you know didn't do that bad.
(42:01):
We got beat, but we were the only palace for
we were playing soft football up here these days, Matt, well,
we are just not the same as I was. Uh,
and you know our kids that just too many iPads
and electric bikes, I guess because but we're the only
team that scored a touchdown over the weekend. I think
on the pv NO. I think one of them won.
But anyway, we got boofed a little bit by Pasadena,
(42:21):
but we had that experience. The kids went to a
bar mitzvah. I had to go call Fresno versus Georgia Southern,
which I did. Uh, Fresno ran Clay Helton over in
the second half. And now Georgia Southern is staying at
the Cowboys facility in Oxnard to play USC on Saturday.
Maybe your kids will hit that one as well.
Speaker 2 (42:43):
Matt, I believe one of them will.
Speaker 3 (42:45):
Yeah. USC can run the ball. I mean, uh, if
USC can run the ball like half as well as
Presno did, Clay's in trouble. And but you know Lincoln
doesn't like running the ball so much. So anyway, called
that game. And then on Sunday I didn't do And
then Saturday we were at the Palace Verdes Beach Club
with Beach and Athletic Club with a grady Grady Gamble,
(43:10):
who's like a neighborhood with a young crowd, like the
forty one year old dads and moms. Okay, like, so
my wife and I were like, you know, elderly friends,
but we were there, and of course, yeah, one of
our kids is a little older, so he's just sitting
there like, where is my friends are here? It's like,
shut up, walk home. It's two four, it's a mile.
Speaker 2 (43:33):
Jeez, take a gatorade.
Speaker 3 (43:34):
God, the guy call me an uber. Shut up. Anyway,
yeah that way, And the kids had their first day
of school started today. They're little Lutheran school.
Speaker 2 (43:43):
So they're going after Labor Day. Freaking kids around here
been in school for two horse weeks.
Speaker 3 (43:48):
And then when the season, when the summer starts, the
kids are all off June first, and my kids have
two more weeks and they're all been out of Shaka.
I can't win, I can't all right, we'll be back
with more. We have a whole other big segment. We'll
do the fun fact, and we'll do the word and
number and song of the day, and then we'll get
to the Dodgers in Pittsburgh.
