Speaker 2 (02:34):
I appreciate that Flee. It means a lot.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
We should do miss those days, Yes, we do.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
It is time for the final our fun fast effects. Yeah,
we're three Happy Election Day. Everybody before eighteen forty five,
at different time technological lies, states individually held presidential elections
within a thirty four day period before the first Wednesday
in November, when all votes were due and the president
(03:02):
was announced. Of course, George Washington first president elected into office,
but the first election Day took place November seventh, eighteen
forty eight. Whig Party candidate I believe you pronounce his
name Zachale Zachaale zach Aalee Taylor. We say it right.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
I can't take the tweets.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
Zachale Zachary Taylor won the first election day presidential election.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
Zach Zakalie.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Yes, the twelfth president of the United States. Hence are
including it in our fun fact. Secondly, Taylor, Zachalie, you
mean Zachary. I believe it's Zachally with an L. Yes.
Let's keep the gay it is. It is a Latua Tuesday,
so must honor one of the better installments of to
(03:53):
Edemano Tuesday.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
Quick Hits. Everybody look to ms quick hitch, come make
it quick y'all. Yeah, well, oh Toddy didn't just sub
blecks his shoulder, but he did. It popped out and
it popped back in, and when it did that, it
tore his labram. So he need to have surgery and
orthoscopic surgery. They said he's still going to be ready
(04:15):
for spring training. But I don't know, Matt. Some of
our listeners say their arms are still sore.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Yeah, as the one person said, I've had laborm surgery.
No way training, no way. I would assume show he
going to be ready to go if he and the
people say he going to be ready to go, so
good luck to him.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
Our lonely eyes turn to the wall.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
See that last night? You see the wall come through
last night down by like twenty hey walk gets crazy.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
When I saw the wall come through and spark the comeback,
I stood up, I saluted, and I said, we don't
need no education. I don't need no birth control, right
you he y Philly, that's who the Clippers are playing.
(05:04):
They'll be without Joel Embiid. And he didn't want to
hear about it. Or he's gonna shove you into the ground.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
To talk about my brother. That's wrong with you talk
him like Yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
Embiid was suspended for three games because he shoved as
Philly Sports columnist in a postgame locker room over the weekend.
Why can't we have something fun like that happened?
Speaker 2 (05:24):
Why?
Speaker 1 (05:24):
Because Wiki is a pole smoker, smoking so much pole,
he's already on the ground. They can't shove him down.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
He takes pretty cool photos though, like ads getting ready.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
He's genuine, genuine flecting already, and he can't be pushed over.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Meanwhile, in Philly, Hew about your brother?
Speaker 1 (05:42):
Why what do you say? Yeah, somebody gets the Blake
Griffin treatment out there in Philly from.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
Himband apparently tried to tell the other members and the
media that there, like, hey, don't talk about what.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
Don't talk about it. He's like, yeah, right, dork. And
by the way, if you're gonna like say, yeah, you're
dead brother, you should get your ass kicked, like you
should get shoved to the ground, get slapped around a
little bit.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
I believe that is what it was said in the column. Yeah, yeah,
you're dead brother. That's exactly how he wrote it. I
don't know how I believe the headline to the column was, Hey,
that much a dead brother?
Speaker 2 (06:24):
Too much?
Speaker 1 (06:25):
Dead brother?
Speaker 2 (06:25):
Say about that she meet me.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
It's the dentist. I'm not really sure what you're inspired.
They're mad, to be honest, the Lakers are four and three.
They're I'm not gonna pay the damn thing to get
in the Philadelphia in choir, that's for sure. To read
the damn Guy's call column. It said, hey, how about
your dead brother and.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
Me f's your brother?
Speaker 1 (06:45):
Hey what about your dead dog?
Speaker 2 (06:48):
Jesus David just died yesterday? Was so stupid, dumb ass dog.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
The Lakers are four and three. They lost, Hell, they
were embarrassed to lose in Detroit yesterday.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
Oh humiliating.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
They're in Memphis tomorrow and John Moran's already polishing his
nuts day on the.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
AD, was about to punch Wiky and he just fell
to the ground before no do Myself'll do myself.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
Proddy James hasn't played since Toronto when he had.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
A minute zero's but he was a minus two. Well,
no turnovers though, there's that. That's positive.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
The trade deadline came and went today. We're gonna talk
to Daniel Jeremiah all about it. At the next moment.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
What do the Chargers do? They didn't make any moves.
What do the Rams do well?
Speaker 1 (07:36):
The Chargers are five and three, their winners are two
in a row, and they host the Titans Dogs. The
Rams traded trade David Trade Davious White to the Ravens
for a fourth round pick. White had been inactive the
last four games. The Rams are four and four, getting
ready for a Monday night showdown next week against the
Miami Dolphins tomorrow. Sean McVay, it's gonna be on the herd,
(07:59):
and that's gonna be a carver station between two powerful men.
Make them big boy money. You know that in this city?
Speaker 2 (08:04):
Son on here? How you know that little bird told
me what you got? Harbaugh on Monday, McVeigh on Wednesday,
and Tom Brady. But hey, we're not sweat.
Speaker 4 (08:16):
That's that's not cool.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
We took calls on Friday when we were out.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
Uh. The Saints traded quarterback Marshawn Latimore to the Washington
Commanders for a third and fourth round draft pick. We'll
discuss that with Daniel Otmore. The Steelers acquired Mike Williams
from the New York Jets for a fifth round draft pick,
the wide receiver from Taft. The Steelers are also getting
pass rusher Preston Smith.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
If he had not taken that year off, I think
you know, oh, no talent, no talent could have possibly
surpassed and you served Jerry Rush He.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
Said, if us he had been able to stop a
couple of long runs in Michigan, I mean they'd be undefeated.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
Just a few places away.
Speaker 1 (08:59):
Yeah, great rock and roll star and steeler Preston Smith
going there from the Packers. The Dallas Cowboys are training
for Panther and wide receiver Jonathan Mingo in exchange for.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
Man Tap.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
Corresponding move, Dallas has released cornerback Andrew Booth.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
Sean Wilkes Booth.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
They said, you know what, we will not forget. We
can't forgive it. They said, if your leg wasn't so
screwed up from falling on the stage, maybe, But but if.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
You have to overcome Andrews the negative and your brother
is not helping.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
The negative of assassinating the greatest president of all time
no longer outweighs the positive of your covering ability, and
your leg is just ticking time bomb after you jumped off.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
The things we're bringing in Johnny Ringo, all the.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
People that helped you get into Maryland, have been executed,
so we.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
Have to let you go. Oh suh, I do pray
you give me one more opportunity. Yeah, no, sir, I
thought I would be hailed as a hero. Well, family
of actors.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
The Raiders have hired former coach Norv Turner to be
the assistant coach or one of their many the Silver
and Black.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
They elevated his kid, Scott to be the OC right,
so then Norv comes in, Hey, Scott, dad's here? Is
that a good call?
Speaker 5 (10:23):
Dad?
Speaker 2 (10:23):
I'm gonna help you.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
There, reports. The twenty three year old Japanese feedom right
hander Roki Sasaki is expected to be posted by the
Chiba Lote Marines in this winter. The Dodgers are considered
the favorites to sign him. A career two point two
e ra A with five one hundred and twenty four
strikeouts and four hundred and fourteen innings in Japan. He's
(10:45):
been playing for the Chiba Hut out there, but he'd
come out here. It's already had a deal, cheeba hunt.
He already got his own. Hey where at arash the size?
He'd already got a sandwich in ain't even state side yet.
Dumbass ikes us he's four and five overall, but they're
just four or five plays away from being defeated. According
you hear that, Rodney, Oh yeah, they're two and five
in the Big Ted. You know, usually if you're like
(11:06):
four and five and it's like November, let's just stop,
you usually don't just say like, hey, we're closed.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
Wow, get to make this quarterback change. They're hosting Nebraska
two weeks. They're not going to make a bowl game.
They're gonna miss the bowl.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
You see Las three and five.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
No cheese at bowl for you, USC two and four,
you're not going to Vegas on Christmas.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
They're going to get the bars to a bowl and
get humiliated. The Bruins home to Iowa on Friday night.
We've been discussing that Hawkeys are a six and a
half point road favorite at the Rose Bowl. Here's coach
de Sean Foster before practice today. You're supposed to yawn
after he talks.
Speaker 6 (11:44):
Man, I've played a good game. We're still working on finishing.
That's the number one thing with us right now. We're
still working on finishing. But you guys are coming out.
We came out on the second half. We got a turnover,
so end up winning the middle eight offensively. You know,
we're still working with the run game getting it there,
but I think that we're able to hit runs in
(12:05):
certain situations that we need them. Ethan's doing a good
job just spreading the ball around. So I'm excited about that.
O line played a really well game. They did a
good job. That was a good defense that we played
against too, So you know, just the fact that they
were able to execute it and they make plays like
they did it was exciting. So, you know, looking forward
(12:27):
to this week, I need all the fans to show up,
get out here, support us. I want to hear the
students out there, students, action, lit crazy. A lot of
alumni would be there because it's homecoming also, so you know,
we're just fired up for this opportunity to keep playing
ball and do it.
Speaker 2 (12:43):
That's welcome, students. Any other questions for coach No, he
has answered everything and nine other things that we did
not even think about asking. I can't hear you.
Speaker 1 (12:54):
I can't hear you, students.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
I was going to ask about the old line, but
got that in there. I was going to ask about
that a defense, but he put that in there defense.
So asking about homecoming and you know what do you
expect this with? You know, got that in there too.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
Coach, say a little more about the Nebraska defense.
Speaker 2 (13:08):
They're very good, very great, aggressive. All right, we'll be
back about Ethan.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
He's played really well.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
Good anything you want to send message maybe to the students,
we want to see them. How would you like him
to act?
Speaker 1 (13:23):
Very rowdy, almost untenable. We'll be back with marg great
sports talk on AMPIRE seventy LA Sports. Daniel Jeremiah will
join us next.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
Petro said money AM five seventy LA Sports Live everywhere
on the iHeart Radio app. No play by play tonight, however,
remainder of the week Bing Bang Boom Clippers Sixers tomorrow night.
Bejay's live broadcast Thursday, going into Thursday night football Huntington
Beach on Beach Boulevard right off the four h five
(13:56):
sixteen zero six zero Beach Boulevard basically Beach and Edinger
is where we will be. And then Friday, UCLA football
hosting IOWA kickoff at six pm on our sister station,
AM eleven fifty.
Speaker 1 (14:10):
All right, Johnny's right now to talk some serious football action.
Foo NFL trade deadline, Foo Chargers Surgeon Foo Raiders, flailing
(14:31):
Dodgers fans still have him, But this guy lives a
cleaner life. You know him from the NFL network. You
know him from the Chargers broadcast with Matt and Shannon Farron.
(14:51):
That's right, you know him as the Jeremisiah, the Appalachian
State football back of the day. It is our dear friend,
Daniel Jeremiah on your Southern Cali Toyota Dealer celebrity hotline,
here to talk some football. Daniel, how are you? Thanks
for joining us?
Speaker 2 (15:07):
What's new?
Speaker 4 (15:09):
I'll do great, man. I'm just looking forward to watching
John King just attack that wall with a vengeance tonight.
Oh yeah, you know, get the drop down. I just
don't know why political touch screens are so much more
responsive than NFL media touchscreens.
Speaker 1 (15:27):
I probably more money in it, you know. But yeah,
but sports at the same time, you know, is becoming
more and more popular, as evidenced by the popularity of
the NFL.
Speaker 2 (15:40):
Now.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
Daniel obviously looking at this Charger team every week with
Matt money Smith, I'm sure it does seem like night
and day from last year, but some of the personnel
is similar, and a lot of these guys we've been
watching play football for a long time. What is the
number one difference if you had to keep it simple
for our listeners such a complicated.
Speaker 4 (16:02):
Yeah, I think it's very simple. And I get asked
a lot of this, you know, going around and seeing
these other teams, and people are curious about it because
the you know, the the roster as you mentioned, I mean,
there's been some nice additions to Georgie's a nice job,
but the guys that have been here before playing better.
And I think the easiest explanation is they don't bus coverages,
(16:23):
they don't blow assignments up front, and they and they
tackle well, it's like the most simple football stuff ever, Like,
just don't do that stuff. There's enough bad teams in
this league, as evidenced by all these two win teams
that we have, that if you'll just do the little
basic stuff, most these teams will beat themselves. And then
(16:43):
you know, we'll see as the schedule gets tougher and
we go deeper, you know what this team's made of.
But I mean, Jim Harbaugh co teams are not going
to give games away.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
A couple moves today the trade deadline. It is never
that big of a deal in in the NFL surprised
that the Chargers didn't acquire anyone. Are surprised that the
lack of movement. As someone who worked in a front
office and probably had to be part of trade discussions,
how hard is it to make a trade in week
nine of an NFL season, Well.
Speaker 4 (17:10):
I think money if you if the trade deadline would
have been two weeks ago, we would have seen something
from the Chargers. But I think really the the the
whole story has been the young white outs. You know,
with Quentin Johnston playing better, with Lad McConkie, you know,
really turned into a really good player as a rookie.
That was a position we thought maybe they would address. Well,
(17:30):
then you've got two young guys. You're not going to
take snaps away from them. And then you look at
the corners, the two fifth round corners that are playing
great and Still and Cam Hart, So you're not gonna
go out and get a corner that's going to take
those guys off the field. So I think in some
ways it's a good thing that they didn't make a
move because it shows you, you know, their belief and
their confidence that these young guys just keep getting better.
(17:51):
And that's another another feather in the cap of geo
ortis another feather in the cap of of coach Minner
in this uh, in this coaching staff, Sandrels, all these
guys doing great job of developing and teaching these young guys.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
Do you think Herbert resents not throwing the ball fifty
times a game, Daniel just being back there running around
like a crazy chicken like.
Speaker 4 (18:14):
I think it's growing. I think that they're getting more
of that. And look, Harbaugh is never going to do
things that aren't necessary. So they've been able to beat
a lot of these teams on their schedule without having
to rely on him like that. And now you know
the Titans, you don't want to take that for granted.
But after the Titans, you get the Bengals and the Ravens,
and I don't see the Chargers being able to navigate
(18:37):
those games without justin Herbert, you know, being forefront and
having to throw the ball more. So I think that
time's coming.
Speaker 2 (18:44):
Is he does he look better in this system? Is
he playing better than you've seen or is it the same,
Because it seems like the last two, maybe even three weeks,
there's been a lot of national attention on the level
of football that Justin Herbert is playing.
Speaker 4 (18:59):
Yeah, he's playing. He's playing as well as he has
I mean, which is you know, impressive. He just not
the volume is not going to be what it was
you know previously. But he's protecting the football, he's still
playing aggressive. His legs have come back. And we said
it in the broadcast. I don't know what the heck
Justin Herbert's ligaments are made of. But he's been bent
(19:20):
and twisted so many different ways and I think, oh
my gosh, this is this is not good. And then
he's he limps for you know, a series, and then
he's back running around you know, I know, harball harps
on how tough he is. But I mean, I got
to give a lot of credit to the legments that
guy has too. Gracious.
Speaker 1 (19:36):
I did one of his games in Oregon and the
answer to that question, actually no, it is Angel hair Pasta.
It's an amazing one of the old The great Daniel
Jeremiah is our guest. It's always great to talk to him.
A football expert and a wonderful person. Talk a little
NFL football is NFL football is on the front of
everybody's mind. After watching that overtime game, last night. You know,
(19:58):
the Raiders are very popular and and of course people
like to take shots at him around here because of
the Charger affiliation. Even though Kate's works there, it's a
little bit like a Padres Dodger.
Speaker 2 (20:09):
Stay hold on, hold on right there, that was a
shot at me.
Speaker 4 (20:11):
We better get a freaking World Series ring for that guy.
We able for me to stomach as a Padre fan
of the Dodgers, you know, running this thing and and
won in a little series. The only thing that that
I'm okay with is that hopefully Kates ends up getting around.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
Would you be willing to take to the streets like
nine O two one, oh, Donna Martin graduates style on
the Beverly Hills City City Hall.
Speaker 4 (20:35):
You tell me, I will go get Ray Pruitt and
throw whoever down the series.
Speaker 1 (20:39):
Let's go make sure that, yes, Donna Martin graduates, Kate's
is gonna get a ring this year, and if it
doesn't happen, we're gonna throw a conniption fit on AM radio.
That's gonna be unrivaled. That being said, you know, the
Raiders are doing this, They're doing that. Here comes North
Turner to save the day. But I mean, can you
really do anything if you don't have a quarterback? I mean,
you guys always talk about how important it is to
(21:00):
get that right, and we just got done talking about
Justin Herbert.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
What can the Raiders do?
Speaker 4 (21:07):
What was the name of the girl who burned the float?
Speaker 1 (21:10):
Emily Valentine?
Speaker 4 (21:12):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (21:12):
Yes, Now do you remember that date?
Speaker 1 (21:14):
Do you remember the way way? Do you remember the
date that Brandon had with Emily Valentine in San Francisco?
Remember that montage with Chris Chris Isaac singing San Francisco
and they're holding hands, They're they're doing the chowder ball.
Remember that they're doing the sour no Bowl. They're holding
hands there by the bridge, and next thing, you know,
(21:37):
actually you know what that might have been post fire
and everybody's like, what are you doing? Brandon's you know,
she was up there going to college turn over a
new lead. It's like, don't you put to floating our driveway?
Speaker 6 (21:47):
Brother?
Speaker 4 (21:49):
By the way, does every HR staff, which they always companies,
make you watch all these videos but stuff you can't do?
And obviously in sports it's the gambling thing. Why don't
they just showed the Brandon Walsh episode of gambling and that's.
Speaker 1 (22:01):
Yeah, when that bails him out, because every freaking aging
Jewish guy who singles get tens of pounds of dollars
to flip to some punk kid from Beverly Hills. Joey
Tato was a great actor. He carried it off.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
I don't believe, son of a bitch.
Speaker 1 (22:23):
I don't know if Joe's still with it.
Speaker 4 (22:27):
What then of the I don't care what the race
was the name of the girl that was on there,
that ended girl.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
I saw her on my honeymoon walking around and she's married.
She yes, in Italy and she was married to that
guy mixed steamy, and I was like, God, God, damn
me if that's not the mex NOx Seema girl. And
she came bouncing. She blew up Rebecca.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
Gamard, right, Yeah, she blew up.
Speaker 1 (22:51):
Remember she blew up with Dylan McKay His dad, she
blew up in the car, was the dad.
Speaker 2 (23:00):
Yeah her.
Speaker 4 (23:04):
They just don't have a quarterback, you know, So steamy
a minute for the Raiders.
Speaker 1 (23:08):
Yeah, and there was a sex tape with her and
mc steam in another chick.
Speaker 2 (23:12):
All right, let's shift to the college ranks. On that note,
I'm just saying, how long is Lincoln Riley going to
be the coach of US seed DJ seven more years,
seven years? Seven? It's a senatorial seat.
Speaker 4 (23:27):
How long to take the under on that? I want
to take the under on the seven much of just
on the heels of me talking about Brandon Walsh. I
will take the under on that one.
Speaker 1 (23:37):
But Walsh would be sick. What would Walsh do with
USC versus Maryland? He would have been chasing money, man,
He would have been heavy on a s. He would
have been screaming down sunset.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
That in Hawaii at ten pm. That's what he's doing.
Speaker 4 (23:55):
If you think he didn't have access to Locksley, your
story mistaken?
Speaker 2 (24:05):
What happens to Lincoln Ryley? DJ?
Speaker 4 (24:07):
I don't, man, what's the like? What's the positive spin?
Speaker 6 (24:11):
Like?
Speaker 4 (24:11):
You always try and find the spin. So you're three
years in, you're not you're making a quarterback change you
don't have or you know, you don't have a premier quarterback,
which he's always had. You're no better along the offensive
line than you were when you got there. You're not
recruiting the great You're not doing much recruiting at all
in terms of locking down the premier players in California.
(24:34):
I just don't know, like I try and find some
positivity here and what's to get excited about? And I
don't know what you're hanging your hat on. So I
don't know where he is. I don't know, Coach Riley. Well,
I would imagine if there was a job that came
open and maybe a more familiar footprint in Texas, that
(24:55):
he would have some interest in that, and maybe that's
the way that everybody kind of moves on. But I
just I don't know where the positive plant is with
this thing right now, with this program.
Speaker 1 (25:05):
It's always interesting to see how a quarterback performs, especially
after guys like you pick him apart for years and
years and years and wonder what they're going to be
like as a pro and of course the circumstance of
the NFL Jayde and Daniels. Are you surprised at how
good he's been and how much interest that they've kind
of generated out there in Washington.
Speaker 4 (25:25):
I mean, look, oh, I thought that he would be
ahead of Caleb and and Drake at the beginning, but
I didn't think he would be this. I mean, and look, Drake,
I've actually really liked what I've seen Drake. Last couple
of weeks, but jayd daneld was playing like one of
the best quarterbacks in the NFL. I didn't know that
he'd be able to get to that level this quickly.
(25:48):
It's been impressive and to to you know, on the
heels of his performance for them to have the you know,
the the ability to go out there and add I
just didn't I did not think and they'd be adding
someone like Marshawn Lattimore at the trade deadline because they're
going forward year one of Jade Daniels. That's that's pretty
incredible accomplishment.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
Will you be at the Rose Bowl to watch u
c l A Iowa on Friday night since the Chargers
have a home game, or will they'll be a uh?
Will they'll be a high school playoff game in your future?
Speaker 4 (26:20):
Yeah? We've got uh. I'll give Petros a trivia question.
We have Christian Highward the eighth seed in Division two.
We have Imperial High School. If Petros two dollars, if
you can tell me which former Pac twelve running back
went to Imperial High School?
Speaker 1 (26:36):
Oh, I got nothing.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
Who was it?
Speaker 4 (26:39):
Royce Freeman?
Speaker 2 (26:40):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (26:40):
Okay, wow, Helfrich just got Oregon.
Speaker 4 (26:44):
Yeah, they don't have anybody like him.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
Yeah, that would be a problem. That guy might kind
of take the game over. Where's Imperial High School?
Speaker 4 (26:57):
It's like, no, it's happening. It's like el Central gets
way out there.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
Oh, my grandfather was from Elsie. Oh maternal Did he
know the Freemans? No, I don't know. I'm not sure.
Matt travel in the same circle.
Speaker 1 (27:14):
Sure, Oh wow, yeah, that's.
Speaker 4 (27:16):
High school high school. I talked. I talked to Telesco
this morning. By the way, CDM did not make the playoffs.
A surprise.
Speaker 1 (27:22):
Oh no, rough year for the Sea Kings.
Speaker 2 (27:24):
Well, they didn't have the uh the stoic eyes of
Tom tellsco on all of their practices and games and
felt the need to perform and live up to that level.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
All right, we'll be right back.
Speaker 2 (27:34):
You're the best.

It is time Matt beating out Roy Rogers. We've been
doing a lot of cowboys lately.
Speaker 2 (29:41):
Well, were your cowboys show for? We love cowboys? You
can't have it, Colin, save a horse. We got British news.
Time for PMS, British News, United Kingdom, English News. It's
time for British news. Cheerio straightund's kind of interesting. Christopher
Wood eighty eight Today put him in.
Speaker 1 (30:05):
He was a novelist and screenwriter and We appreciate him
for one particularly brilliant reason, but we'll get to that
in a moment. Born in Ledbeth, his middle school was
destroyed in a blitz by the Germans, so he had
to go to a different middle school. He ended up
eventually at Cambridge. Did his military service in Cyprus, which
(30:28):
inspired one of his books, which was lauded as one
of the most militarily realistic books of the twentieth century,
called Terrible Hard. He did some activism work in the Cameroon,
wrote a couple of novels about Africa.
Speaker 2 (30:43):
It's not as accurate as Game of Thrones fire and Eyes.
I can tell you that, well. Game of Thrones, fire
Time is a period.
Speaker 1 (30:49):
It is an amazingly accurate historical piece. Down, You're absolutely right.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
Period.
Speaker 1 (30:57):
It's a period piece. You're right in a period and man,
those very accurate, those dead guys walking around. Anyway, this
guy did some work in Africa, Okay. He worked as
an advertising agent and wrote his books on the train
(31:18):
back and forth from London. And he wrote a gigantic
series of sexual books that define swinging London, the Confessional series.
He wrote Confessions of a Window Cleaner, many other confessions books.
Confessions of a driving instructor, Think about what's going on there,
(31:41):
Confessions from a holiday camp, Confessions of a pop performer,
Confessions of a milkman, Confessions of a nudist, colony plumber's mate,
long distance lorry driver.
Speaker 2 (31:56):
You just never end. Yes, people were thirsty for the confessions.
Speaker 1 (32:01):
And you think about it. You think about the bodiness
of old Benny Hill, and you think about James Bond
laying all those women.
Speaker 2 (32:07):
All of that is a product of our friends in
Swing in London.
Speaker 1 (32:12):
He wrote all those books under the pseudonym Timothy Lee
because everybody would he wouldn't be able to hide a
shown or under his real name, Christopher Wood. He wrote
teenage books. He wrote a samurai book under the pseudonym
Frank Clegg. He wrote a book called Soccer thug Ari
(32:35):
moved to France after making a ton of money.
Speaker 2 (32:37):
That's a good samurai book.
Speaker 1 (32:39):
And then Matt he wrote for the screen The Spy
Who Loved Me?
Speaker 4 (32:46):
Is that right?
Speaker 2 (32:47):
And then in nineteen seventy nine.
Speaker 1 (32:52):
He created one of the greatest cinematic characters of all time,
great cinematic circumstances of all time, under the guise of
James Bond.
Speaker 7 (33:03):
You appear with the tedious inevitability. I loved the season.
Speaker 4 (33:08):
I didn't think there were any seasons in.
Speaker 7 (33:10):
Space as far as you're concerned, only winter and the
treacherous doctor Goodhead. Despite your efforts, my finely wrought dream
approaches its fulfillment. Your dream, whatever sort of nightmare it is,
has not chance tracks.
Speaker 2 (33:27):
Do you think not?
Speaker 7 (33:29):
We shall see.
Speaker 2 (33:30):
We're coming up the second launch position.
Speaker 4 (33:33):
Launch glove number.
Speaker 2 (33:34):
Two with hard breeding, hot people, jaws.
Speaker 7 (33:48):
Of my conception.
Speaker 5 (33:51):
First, a necklace of death about the Earth, fifty globes,
each releasing its nerve gas over a designated each capable
of kidding one hundred million people.
Speaker 7 (34:05):
The human race, as you know it will cease.
Speaker 2 (34:08):
Tweaksis thank you dras now maybe back then now we
sell about three and a half bill left over. Sir
Roger Moore.
Speaker 1 (34:17):
Paid tribute to him after his death. Otherwise no one
else would have knowned he died. It was in twenty fifteen.
Is he talking about Southwest of France? Christopher Wood He
wrote all them sex books and they all became movies,
cheeky movies.
Speaker 2 (34:32):
And then Moonraker. Not exactly a lightweight Matt hell No,
is Petro some money royalty bulk of the series. Dude,
well you right now, Main Reger anything else? Spies, the
spy shagged me.
Speaker 1 (34:49):
Confession confessionals of a long distance lorry driver. Of course,
how many more six books are going to rite hell?
Speaker 2 (34:56):
All of them? Me and Barry Kroger got that's a
real Barrey crowlko a book and Matt you have be alive, guy,
I do a tough one today. Was gonna do Tatum O'Neill,
Bad News Bears. And then you're like, oh, so it
was down to two Ryan Adams, who we love and
(35:21):
has been celebrated in these parts before Whiskey Town or
Brian Adams, and we go hi Rodick Bough. We do
like Brian, I can't lies Summer of sixty nine, having
pretty freaking big back in the day when you wanted
to make out with a chick man. That's right, happy
(35:44):
sixty fifth Brian Adams Canadian export to ask pop rock stardom.
How many records has Brian Adams sold a lot? One
hundred million people?
Speaker 1 (35:57):
Forget about that. Robin Hood one.
Speaker 2 (35:58):
Hundred million man. Born in Kingston, Ontario, his parents were
from Plymouth, England, emigrated right before he was born. His
father was a diplomat worked for the UN peacekeeping Force,
so he moved around the world. School in Portugal, Vienna,
is out Scotland. Is that why you ignored Canadian news? Yes,
because he was in Jaffa, Israel while he was in
(36:22):
high school.
Speaker 1 (36:23):
Still he's played by the Canadian he is.
Speaker 2 (36:26):
Just look at the Juno Awards, there's twenty of them.
Forgot about it. Started playing guitar at ten. Summer sixty
nine is partially autobiographical. First guitar was a strat knockoff
when he lived in England, but he did buy a
Les Paul at the five and dime in Ottawa, left
high school, joined a band called Shock, working day jobs,
(36:49):
made ends meet, and when Nick Gilder left Sweeney Todd
to start a solo career with his hit Hot in
the City in the City, Great Man, he became Swingey
Todd's front man and lead singer.
Speaker 1 (37:04):
Did that for a bit, no golden earring, but still
no did meet a lot.
Speaker 2 (37:08):
Of dudes in the business, formed a partnership with producer
and songwriter Jim Vallance, and Jim convinced him to go solo.
He signs with A and M first release gold in Canada,
but did not get much play elsewhere. Second album had
Lonely Nights, which was number one at rock radio, but
didn't really move the needle for Brian Adams as a
an artist. That wasn't enough. And then nineteen eighty three
(37:30):
shows up in MTV. He's like, hey, we like this
cuts like a knife and it feels so nice and
right follow up This Time was a top ten hit
as well, turn it into a star platinum here in
the States was that album got his tour and that
set up the monster release the following year, Reckless, only
the third album at its time of achievement to have
(37:54):
six songs reach the top fifteen on the Billboard Hot
one hundred. Run to You Summer of sixty nine was
the song of the year. Somebody Heaven, It's Only Love
with Tina Turner and this one one night Love Affair
sold over twelve million copies. The follow up flopped into
the Night No, so he's like, what do I do?
(38:19):
I gotta really focus, Eh, this next one's got to
be big, eh, Waking up the neighbors. Everything I do
you mentioned at the Robinhood song one of the biggest
singles in Hot one hundred history, number one around the world,
seven weeks number one here, eleven Dutch, nine Canada, sixteen
in the UK. Won the Grammy nominated for the Oscar
(38:42):
sold sixteen million copies. Of course you come out with
the greatest hits right after that, that sells another cool
ten mil Oh.
Speaker 1 (38:49):
Come on.
Speaker 2 (38:49):
He's still making records really through his own record label.
He is an author eight titles, including the just released
Hear the World. He is a celebrated photographer. He has
an exhibition traveling right now. It is in Amsterdam. Never married,
but dated a bunch of models, rumored to have been
(39:11):
banging Princess Die and has two bastard kids with his
former personal assistant. Okay, still touring.
Speaker 1 (39:19):
Well, remember that you see that scene where he's singing
Summer of sixty nine and then the dude, some drunk
dude steps in front of him and does one of
the lines like right on time, and then the security
blows him out of the way, right on time, and
then Adams comes right back the next line.
Speaker 2 (39:33):
Very strong. All right, sixty five today, Brian.
Speaker 1 (39:36):
Adams, have a great night. Everybody appreciate you listening podcast
the show.
Speaker 2 (39:41):
If you missed it.
Speaker 1 (39:42):
We'll be back on tomorrow as the world keeps turning. Okay,
we'll be on at three o'clock.
Speaker 2 (39:47):
Come for again Thursday and Huntington Beach. We'll see you there.
Get your boots all out, get a goo
