already so impressed with himself, and he's just gonna be
more impressed now, you know what I mean?

Speaker 3 (02:29):
What's the Leadouto DiCaprio movie where he tries to go

feels like that he's he's he's found his destination where
he never wants to leave.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
How's he gonna call the game? How are we gonna
call ca? I mean, it's only half the battle. Don
He got there? Now he's got to get back to
sal Paulo. How far is it? Two hours? Really? Yeah,
you don't go away from the job you're supposed to anyway.
I wish him all the best. He is going to

(03:01):
be really, really proud of himself after this. Really, how
beautiful is this? It's great sports talk. It is gorgeous here,
just got out of the water. Waves were so fun.
It's just beautiful, fine goodness. Place is incredible. I don't

(03:24):
want to leave.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
It's fun in effect, it's the Yeah We're three fun.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
Fun facts. Final our fun fact is brought to you
by Concordia University Masters and Coaching, Irvine. What of a
bunch of Olympic types and national championship coaches and all
kinds of ogs and Jason Nager have in common? They
all went to the Masters and Coaching program at Concordia University.

(03:53):
Are fine? Tonight's final hour fun fact is about the
city of Pittsburgh, as the Dodgers are in PI. It's
birth Steel City? Correct? Did you know that Scott Fahiman,
a computer scientist at Carnegie Mellon University, created the first
emoticon in nineteen eighty two? What's an emoticon? The little

(04:15):
smiley face emoji? Really eighty two, making Pittsburgh the birthplace
of the online communication happy smiley face emoji. You know
what college basketball coach went to Carnegie Mellon. I'm supposed to.
I did know that, Herb Syndik Sendak. That's why it

(04:36):
was such a stiff ass. Yeah, another fun fact, what's that?
I'm just watching the video. It's just incredible. I can't stop.
Oh what a tree. Guys, this is incredible. Couldn't they
just open the season in freaking Minneapolis so we didn't
have to hear about this? Like I got my own problems.

(05:05):
Is Blackmore hearing it or did you just come in?
I'll show it to him for the PMS pick six.
Let's go cook fuck oh, Arizona's recruiting the kid out
of Pallas Verdes High Black Mark, My god. Brent brannantt

(05:26):
fare down with Week one of the NFL season. Kick
it off tomorrow night in Philly. It's now time for
the Petrolsen Money. Pick six brought to you by Draft Kings.
Pick six Week one is your shout to play free

you sign up, enter for free and pick more or
less on six players. Stats for Week one. Tomorrow is
the season opener, Eagles hosting the Cowboys. So how about
these picks? Who made these picks? You sure you know

(06:08):
how much I love the NFL? Yeah, and you know
how involved I am in fantasy football? Yeah, that's how
I happened. I was having a drink with Dan Helly,
my played by play guy in East Lancy because you
turned down that musically. I was having a drink with
Dan Helly and he's like, dude, I gotta go. I
got a fantasy football draft, and I was like, what, Eh,

(06:29):
cos's incredible. Here Eagles running back Saquon Barkley more more
or less than ninety five and a half rushing yard.
Oh good, one, I say more? Yeah? All right? You
know what you don't have to do that. You have to. Okay,
that's good, would pee I like it. Eagles wide receiver

(06:49):
DeVante Smith more or less than fifty four and a
half yards under well, I said more here, Oh, because
he averaged sixty four last year and he missed some games,
so I say more. But I mean that's a lot
of yard. You know, between him and Saguan we got
a two.

Speaker 4 (07:07):
Hundred win prognosticating. It's always good to go opposite what
other people do.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Okay, Well, that's you know, I'm just trying to get
through this. So if you say less, I say more.
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts more or less than a half
a rushing TD. You know they're going to run that
tush push because they try to ban it. Yeah, that
one I agree with. I would triple more on that.
So that's three picks right there. Let's go to Friday

(07:34):
in Brazil. I heard it. It's credible there, gorgeous. Check
it out. Man Chargers take on the Chiefs. Justin Herbert
more or less than twenty and a half completions less,
I would say, especially in the fourth quarter. Herbert does
not trend well in the fourth quarter for his whole

(07:55):
career Chargers wide out Lad McConkie more or less than
five and a half reception more. He's been a good
safety blanket for Herbert, and he really is their most
productive receiver ever since he stepped there. Savior, You're worthy
more or less than sixty nine and a half rushing
and receiving yards combined. They'd like to give him the
end around and end a round. Yeah, I've seen more? Well,

(08:19):
it says here less, but I'm with you, I've seen more?
Is that wrong? Can I not say that? Am I
allowed to say that? Do I took it? Do I

(09:25):
Slash promos quick hits or no no no, no no no,
I'm sorry, yes yeah. Word of the day, His words
the word of the day order the DP is Rebels.

Speaker 4 (09:40):
As in the UNLV, do they call the football team
the running Rebels?

Speaker 2 (09:45):
I don't know if they still you the yeah the
Dan Mullen Yeah is the head SEC guy. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (09:50):
Well, Saturday, UCLA looks to bounce back after an embarrassing
home loss to Utah as they traveled to Vegas to
take on those UNLV Running Rebels. So it's interesting UCLA
is a two and a half point favorite on the
road after that.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
Anyways, Well, it's a big ten versus A Mountain West,
and if they were at home, they'd probably be like
a four point favorite, right, That's how easily. Well, you
get three points for being at home, Okay, so then
three and a half and five and seven and a
half something like that. Oh, two and a half? Well,
what is it? What does it say?

Speaker 4 (10:23):
They're two and a half point favorites, which means if
they were at home, they would be getting those three
points back. So essentially they're a five and a half
point favorite because UNLV is getting three points for being
at home. Anyways, un LV, in its first season under
coach Dan Mullen, is off to a two and oh start.
They beat Idaho State and Sam Houston. Mullen's team is

(10:45):
full of transfers and one player on the new look Rebels,
defensive back A Marris Brown, wasn't too impressible what he's
what he saw from UCLA quarterback Nico Iamalayama.

Speaker 2 (10:59):
That guy the.

Speaker 4 (11:00):
Number one player, the number one transfer player in the
portal this year.

Speaker 5 (11:04):
I didn't really stick out to me about him honesty,
like you know in the past has been to talk
about you know, five star is fastar at you know,
like I'd've been around plenty five stars, four stars, you
know that, Like it don't scare me, you know what
I'm saying. So and how they played, you know, competition
technically you know, higher than them, you know, if you
want to include Alabama and all that, I didn't played
up to their competition. So you know, going against a

(11:26):
guy like Nico Like, it's no surprise, you know, no excitement,
nothing like that.

Speaker 2 (11:31):
So there you go. Not impressed with Nico. I am Malaiyava.
I will say this, don the three stories that we
were force fed all off season in the college football world,
which were arch Manning, Bill Belichick, and then the third
one distant third nico Ia Malayava at UCLA. All three

(11:53):
of those guys came out in Week one and laid
a big, gigantic egg that's the bed. Yeah, and and
you could say, yes, Ohio State's defense was great, like
Brady Quinn told me this morning, and that he only
missed four or five throws like Brady Quinn told me
this morning. And he might have had a bad shoulder
like Brady Quinn told me this morning, or they really

(12:15):
limited his run lanes like Brady Quinn told me this morning.
We didn't spend the whole offseason talking about the Ohio
State defense. No, maybe we'll spend the actual season talking
about him I'm just saying these were the stories that
we were all force fed all off season. And that's
not to say that arch Manning can't win the rest
of the games. It's not to say that Belichick can't

(12:37):
write the ship in the ACC, and it's not to
say that Nico is not going to have a great
performance against you and LV. It just goes to show
you how worthy the off season rankings and the offseason
storylines really are. Well.

Speaker 4 (12:53):
I watched that game, getting back to Belichick, p And
obviously I don't know one one hundredth of what you
know about football, But to me, I watched that ECU
North Carolina game, you'd be surprised. It was obvious to me.
And this is TCU. We're not talking about Texas or
Ohio State. It was obvious the talent level between TCU
in North Carolina. Like by the end of the first quarter,

(13:15):
I was saying to myself watching the game, like TCU
is gonna win this game for sure.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
And most people in the first game are never as
bad or as good as they look. And as you know,
I think this goes for basketball, to or any high
level sport. It was never as bad or as good
as you thought it was when you look at it
on tape, and you can always find a reason and
this or that, and there's always room for improvement. But

(13:42):
that brings us to the number of the day. Here's
my number number of the day. Today's number the day
is seventy. If you're USC and you're coming off scoring
seventy on Missouri State in their very first FBS A
game as an FBS team. Ever, not to say they've
never played an f team, but their very first game

(14:02):
as an FBS team, I don't think there's much to
brag about there. I don't think that USC should be
going on social media and bragging about their numbers versus
that team UCLA at least played a real game against Utah. Yes,
they embarrassed themselves, but they at least played a real game.

(14:22):
USC's one to zero. They host Clay Helton and Georgia
Southern on Saturday at the Coliseum, and I just saw
Georgia Southern get run over in the second half by
Fresno and a very physical matt En Spresno team that
was frustrated by EJ. Warner's interceptions in the first two
weeks and said, if this we're running the ball and

(14:43):
they knocked Clay Helton's d in the dirt. And now
Clay Helton is in licking their wounds in Ontario, or
excuse me, in Oxnard. They are not going back to Statesborough.
They are staying out here to play USC. Most of
those guys I've never seen the Pacific Ocean, so they're
having that experience. But Georgia Southern, in the Sun Belt

(15:07):
almost in the championship last year, returning quarterback, much more experience.
They are going to be a huge step up in competition.
Not to say that USC shouldn't dominate the game, but
Georgia Southern is going to be a big step up
in competition for USC. I want people to understand that.
So maybe on social media, USC slow your role about

(15:29):
hanging a seventy burger on Missouri State because at least
UCLA played a real football game. At least they did.
USC schedule will get harder after Georgia Southern. They got
to play at Purdue, where Barry Odom, who was the
coach at LV last year, very good coach, is at

(15:51):
and then they got Michigan State coming here. I just
saw Michigan State. They're a lot better than they used
to be, and Jonathan Smith knows a little something about
going on into the coliseum and kicking an unphysical USC
team's ass. I've seen it done by Jonathan Smith. Then
they go to Illinois Brett Beelima. You think he's got
a fist for their chin, you think, And then Michigan

(16:15):
and then Notre Dame. So Lincoln Riley might be trying
to pile up victories and pile up some good feelings
with these cupcakes. But I remember twenty fifteen US he
played like Idaho State and somebody at Arkansas State, and
everybody was talking about how awesome they were. Steve Sarkisian
was the coach, and then the very next week they

(16:36):
played a Thursday night game versus Washington and Chris Peterson
came down there and knocked them out, and next thing
you know, sark was gone and all the controversy. So
maybe fools Gold kids quit geeking it on social media
when you beat Missouri State, it's pathetic. This is the
song of the day.

Speaker 6 (16:57):
Great Big Man is our song from singer, songwriter and
musician Don McClain, because joining Great Sports Talk on a
super flex alert is a great big man in his
own rights as he is the Pac twelves all time
leading scorer, UCLA basketball legend and best friend of the

Speaker 4 (17:32):
Ronnie, in all these years, you've never busted out a
Don McClain's song.

Speaker 6 (17:37):
When I was here, well, Don, I figured that now
is probably the best time to do it.
