say that Nico is not going to have a great
performance against you and LV. It just goes to show
you how worthy the off season rankings and the offseason

know about football, But to me, I watched that ECU
North Carolina game, you'd be surprised. It was obvious to me.

is seventy. If you're USC and you're coming off scoring
seventy on Missouri State in their very first FBS A

never played an f team, but their very first game

brag about there. I don't think that USC should be
going on social media and bragging about their numbers versus
that team UCLA at least played a real game against Utah. Yes,
they embarrassed themselves, but they at least played a real game.

Southern on Saturday at the Coliseum, and I just saw
Georgia Southern get run over in the second half by
Fresno and a very physical matt En Spresno team that

They beat Idaho State and Sam Houston. Mullen's team is

full of transfers and one player on the new look Rebels,
defensive back A Marris Brown, wasn't too impressible what he's
what he saw from UCLA quarterback Nico Iamalayama.

Number one player, the number one transfer player in the
portal this year.
Speaker 5 (11:04):
I didn't really stick out to me about him honesty,
like you know in the past has been to talk
about you know, five star is fastar at you know,
like I'd've been around plenty five stars, four stars, you
know that, Like it don't scare me, you know what
I'm saying. So and how they played, you know, competition
technically you know, higher than them, you know, if you
want to include Alabama and all that, I didn't played
up to their competition. So you know, going against a

guy like Nico Like, it's no surprise, you know, no excitement,
nothing like that.

I will say this, don the three stories that we
were force fed all off season in the college football world,
which were arch Manning, Bill Belichick, and then the third
one distant third nico Ia Malayava at UCLA. All three

of those guys came out in Week one and laid
a big, gigantic egg that's the bed. Yeah, and and
you could say, yes, Ohio State's defense was great, like
Brady Quinn told me this morning, and that he only
missed four or five throws like Brady Quinn told me
this morning. And he might have had a bad shoulder
like Brady Quinn told me this morning, or they really

limited his run lanes like Brady Quinn told me this morning.
We didn't spend the whole offseason talking about the Ohio
State defense. No, maybe we'll spend the actual season talking
about him I'm just saying these were the stories that
we were all force fed all off season. And that's
not to say that arch Manning can't win the rest
of the games. It's not to say that Belichick can't

write the ship in the ACC, and it's not to
say that Nico is not going to have a great
performance against you and LV. It just goes to show
you how worthy the off season rankings and the offseason
storylines really are. Well.
Speaker 4 (12:53):
I watched that game, getting back to Belichick, p And
obviously I don't know one one hundredth of what you
know about football, But to me, I watched that ECU
North Carolina game, you'd be surprised. It was obvious to me.
And this is TCU. We're not talking about Texas or
Ohio State. It was obvious the talent level between TCU
in North Carolina. Like by the end of the first quarter,

I was saying to myself watching the game, like TCU
is gonna win this game for sure.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
And most people in the first game are never as
bad or as good as they look. And as you know,
I think this goes for basketball, to or any high
level sport. It was never as bad or as good
as you thought it was when you look at it
on tape, and you can always find a reason and
this or that, and there's always room for improvement. But
(13:42):
that brings us to the number of the day. Here's
my number number of the day. Today's number the day
is seventy. If you're USC and you're coming off scoring
seventy on Missouri State in their very first FBS A
game as an FBS team. Ever, not to say they've
never played an f team, but their very first game
(14:02):
as an FBS team, I don't think there's much to
brag about there. I don't think that USC should be
going on social media and bragging about their numbers versus
that team UCLA at least played a real game against Utah. Yes,
they embarrassed themselves, but they at least played a real game.
(14:22):
USC's one to zero. They host Clay Helton and Georgia
Southern on Saturday at the Coliseum, and I just saw
Georgia Southern get run over in the second half by
Fresno and a very physical matt En Spresno team that
was frustrated by EJ. Warner's interceptions in the first two
weeks and said, if this we're running the ball and

they knocked Clay Helton's d in the dirt. And now
Clay Helton is in licking their wounds in Ontario, or
excuse me, in Oxnard. They are not going back to Statesborough.
They are staying out here to play USC. Most of
those guys I've never seen the Pacific Ocean, so they're
having that experience. But Georgia Southern, in the Sun Belt
(15:07):
almost in the championship last year, returning quarterback, much more experience.
They are going to be a huge step up in competition.
Not to say that USC shouldn't dominate the game, but
Georgia Southern is going to be a big step up
in competition for USC. I want people to understand that.
So maybe on social media, USC slow your role about
(15:29):
hanging a seventy burger on Missouri State because at least
UCLA played a real football game. At least they did.
USC schedule will get harder after Georgia Southern. They got
to play at Purdue, where Barry Odom, who was the
coach at LV last year, very good coach, is at
(15:51):
and then they got Michigan State coming here. I just
saw Michigan State. They're a lot better than they used
to be, and Jonathan Smith knows a little something about
going on into the coliseum and kicking an unphysical USC
team's ass. I've seen it done by Jonathan Smith. Then
they go to Illinois Brett Beelima. You think he's got
a fist for their chin, you think, And then Michigan
(16:15):
and then Notre Dame. So Lincoln Riley might be trying
to pile up victories and pile up some good feelings
with these cupcakes. But I remember twenty fifteen US he
played like Idaho State and somebody at Arkansas State, and
everybody was talking about how awesome they were. Steve Sarkisian
was the coach, and then the very next week they
(16:36):
played a Thursday night game versus Washington and Chris Peterson
came down there and knocked them out, and next thing
you know, sark was gone and all the controversy. So
maybe fools Gold kids quit geeking it on social media
when you beat Missouri State, it's pathetic. This is the
