Live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app A rare start at
a past the top of the Doctor formation. They kept
Doctor Foreman to the top of the hour. He's the best.
We love Doctor Foreman. And he will join us like
he joined Rogan and Rodney, like he joined Gary and Shannon,
(01:14):
like he's gonna join Cruise and Booker and Striker and
Tim Coo Joe and Tim Conway because it is our
day to have doctor Foreman on campus here at iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
And we are hopeful very our section of the Iheartful Music, car.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
Wash Hopeful Music at New Take It.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
Easy, Take It Easy? Oh took it? Play that game? Well, Matt, Look,
I understand a lot of people have been mad at
me today. What you do well? I went on Softy Show.
Will we taped it? It's gonna air it for who
knows what he'll do with it. I went on soft Yeah,
he got really mad. He called me fat. He uh,
(01:58):
he said all kinds of things about me up in Seattle.
I'm sure it wasn't unsolicited. What did you do to him? Well?
I didn't do anything. Can you do it? Well? Tim
Kates has got to connect me to him on the
I don't know how to run the machines here, So
I connected with Softy to tape our segment which you've
got to hit the bird and then the bird's got
to shoot you back down to him something and Tim
(02:20):
Kates and I usually if I'm up here, endeavor to
get me connected to KJR and Seattle, our iHeart affiliate
where I've been a guest every Wednesday at four o'clock
for at least, I don't know, fifteen years. Sponsored segment
brought to you by Sweet James Berginer. Now that being said,
not a nine million Softy, as I said, and I
(02:41):
believe I said this on the air, Seattle's never played
in a World Series and only team yeah, the only one.
Only team. You know, they had that one season with
Griffy and they won like four hundred games games and
they still didn't make the World Series. Spectacular Jeter play,
and I said to Softy, I said something to the
effect of, hey man, I don't think that you're emotionally
(03:03):
equipped to deal Well, you mentioned Yester, you thought he
could have a heart attack. Yeah, I mean, I don't
think you're emotionally ready to deal with any of this stuff,
let alone an actual World Series against the Dodgers where
they're favored and all that. And of course it didn't
work out that way. Toronto won in seven, which is
excruciating for the Seattle people. They were winning in that
(03:24):
series before the Springer Dinger and then Tim kats Our
executive producer of the host of Scam Jam Packed Scam
by the way, I saw the rundown on his desk.
You and I both saw Buck Martine. I listened live.
Dusty Baker called in. I listened to the open. Yeah.
I was in the car when they were doing the
listened to it live, and I was like, Wow, this
(03:45):
is a jam packed scam. They had Jose Mona, Dusty Baker,
David Vasse, all kinds of scamming.
Speaker 5 (03:52):
Buff Martinez caates just making sure I'll.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
Forget about Buck. Yeah, I said it. So it was.
It's great. We don't get Buck. We're not sweating it either. Though.
We got doctor Foreman on this hour, and we got
Alan Sleewah who's coming in to handle the Laker load
around here. Think of it as a Laker What do
you call it reloaded?
Speaker 4 (04:14):
Yeah, this is dad. Here's what we're gonna do. I
want to do a booty shoe. It's gonna be called
Lakers Reloaded. They get the radio be on for the
Laker game the day before that. As soon as they
tear their card, would they get is be a gid
not going to take calls. I'm gonna take all that.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
Alan's gonna do that, but not like Joel Myers. No.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
Alan has his own YouTube channel and he does it
from the Crypto dot Com arena.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
Now. He did his post game last night from his
spot on the perch, his media position on the perch,
and he will be working with us here at iHeart
very excited about it. Pretty exciting, yes, Leewa. Well, speaking
of iHeart, when I was on with Softie, Kate started
playing all kinds, you know, because I don't know how
to hit buttons, I don't know, and Kate's Kate started
playing all these wacky highlights Springer Dinger and Ben, that's
(05:02):
the greatest thing I've ever seen. It's not cool, you know,
and just killing him with it, and then would he
do that? And then we started playing you got a
fly ball? Or is that a seagull? You know the
song It's a terrible okay Blue Jays, and Saftie was
getting like really irritated, and then he started like dropping
(05:24):
f bombs. He called me fat. Yeah, and then there's
no need to attack me personal. So that's what I said,
my personal appearance. We can have his sports debate here, right,
And I said this, you're just proving my point that
you're not emotionally equipped to handle. I think he's success
or failure.
Speaker 4 (05:38):
He's like most fans you know, would imagine ninety nine
point nine percent of Mariner fans or Seattle sports fans
are devastating. Yeah, you're up to nothing totally in Toronto.
You come back, I gonna do his win two or
three at home, absolutely destroyed. I think that's probably more
normal behavior.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
Well, he started swearing at me, and then he called me,
called me fat. So I did the same thing i'd
do with you. When you start to threaten to give
away prizes, I say, hey, you got the balls to
do it. He said, I'm gonna hang up on you
right now. I said, you got the balls, do it.
Skin that smoke wagon and see what happened so you
can listen to that live at Ford podcast later. No,
(06:20):
we don't want you to do that. We're on it
for what podcast it later? See what happened there? You
listen that's live. Come on, yeah, right, diary, I'm gonna
hop over to k j R r uh. We're on
early today. What did Kats give you an answer as
to why? Because he did it. You didn't tell him
to do that. He just decided, Well, I wanted to
(06:43):
play the song so he could say the song sucks
and we have Maclamore or whatever, and they play though
that's not the one they play. They should. Tim Kats
started playing them off this song. No turn ita. This
song is garbage. Turn it out? Why would we turn
(07:04):
this up? Tiger? We're going to beat the idiots.
Speaker 6 (07:07):
He's so bad, Go mate, what are your wants so bad?
Speaker 2 (07:23):
Let's play whoa So? Then Softy would like ask me
a question like, so, what do you think about this
usc Notre Dame? And I start answering, and Kate's would
be like, let's play or that the springer gagger? Yeah,
he started hitting him with the springer and something got
all mad. Threatened to hang up on me and call
(07:44):
me if you have got to be kidding me, Ben,
That is the best moment in sports I have ever seen.
That's fun to play. But he didn't have fun with
any of that though, But I well, and he didn't
want to have any fun.
Speaker 4 (07:55):
For Tim Kates, who was a Dodger guy, It's like, yeah, look,
if it was the World Series and the Dodgers swept
him and you want to rub it in, fine, but
you got nothing to do with the Blue Jays, Kates, Well,
I you gotta do that.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
I gotta be that guy. You're not like that. What
is scam done to you? I thought it was entertaining. No,
not entertaining. Well you could listening for Oh no, god,
no Stringer.
Speaker 5 (08:17):
Then his producer like chimed into Petros.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
This isn't funny. Okay, right, this is not cool. Oh
Dick got in there. Uh, Dick Fane is not the producer.
He's a co host. But he got in there and
he didn't get it. Oh he didn't get in there, Jackson.
Jackson got in there. Yeah, Petros to give you.
Speaker 4 (08:36):
And by the way, you know, if you're playing it,
you have the position that I don't care about anything.
That's just how I'm wired. Tim Kates gets freaking butt hurt,
He gets freaked out, He goes on Twitter tie raids
when things don't go the way that he wants them
to go for his favorite team. So he should be
a little bit more sensitive to the situation that Softy
(08:56):
is found him.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
Well, I just don't think Softy. Well, I can't compare
timka to Softy. I can't compare anybody. He wanted to
get you fired from Fox because you were on a
U c l A. But Chris Peterson comes up to
me at Fox all the time and says, that guy
is the biggest fan of anything I've ever met. Dave
Softy model like Softy is really he's one of a kind.
(09:21):
And Kate's rubbed his face in the dog Doodoo stringer.
I was the one, you know, came to me, the
old man behind the curtain, and I'm the face just
getting tomatoes thrown at it. He got very uncomfortable. He
started to attack me, say it was a loser, says
(09:41):
to come to your house. He said he was gonna
come to my house and do what I don't know.
I sent out. I said, you'll be doing me a favor,
kill me. You're gonna come hang out, clean the pool.
What are you gonna do when you get here? Speaking
of losers, Tim Kates lost the Golden Mike Award. He
was trying to win his fourth and fi years. Last night,
(10:01):
No last year. Oh for the Otani thing. Oh right,
Otani goes to Toronto, but he doesn't. And now, staying on
top of it, the Tim Kates piece that he lost.
The whole thing's a fixed. The Golden Mic, the Ventura
station that no one listens. They want a stupid Award
about the dumbass Cowboys training camp that they have every
(10:23):
year in the Nard. You know, I heard that and
it was a wonderful production. It was terrible and Tim Kates,
who put the Otani Toronto thing together, lost to Golden
Mic should have been his fourth and five years. Luckily,
Tim Kates will always find a way to get traction
out of something that's been done. So if there's another
hurricane boom, here comes to Key k Hernandez. The Dodgers
(10:45):
are playing against Toronto Shoeotanio is in Canada right now
or on his way trans Canada and speak, So let's
do it. They played it this morning in its entirety.
It's only four minutes. That's long. Yeah, and it was
an unbelievable hit this morning on the radio. People just
calling in. People were really feelings, very timely, by the way,
(11:08):
So we how do you figure? I mean, we thought
he was on a plane in Toronto. Don't explain yourself.
And you actually you don't have to explain yourself to
this man. I don't match thinking. Second, the audience man
is an antagonist. All right, let's listen to the Tim Kates.
This should have been Golden Mike Winner day in the
This is the Horns. I heard David Vassy follow this
(11:29):
up on on the radio this morning on SCAM and
Vassay was like, it was a bad day for the
baseball media, embarrassing for all of us. And you know
what he's talking about. He talking about you, Hornstrum, John Palmer.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
Sorry, let's hear it.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
Let's hear the feat Breaking news from Major League Baseball.
Speaker 3 (11:49):
Breaking news from Major League Baseball.
Speaker 4 (11:51):
Show, Hey Oh Tani, Show how Tani is signing with the.
Speaker 3 (11:55):
Los Angeles Dodgers.
Speaker 5 (11:57):
Sports changed forever that Saturday afternoon. Not only did showe
Haotani sign the largest contract in Major League Baseball history,
but he inked the richest deal in the history of
North America.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
Real quick, you could tell it's Kate's doing the sweet
ass voiceover and the music makes it all intriguing. I
mean this, I can't believe this lost to punk Ass
Ventura Free of.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
North American Sports.
Speaker 7 (12:21):
Ten year, ten years, ten years, seven hundred, seven hundred.
Speaker 2 (12:25):
Seven hundred million dollars. The numbers are astronomical.
Speaker 5 (12:30):
It was December ninth, twenty twenty three, the day show Heyotani.
Let it be known he was signing with the Dodgers.
But remember the whirldwin That was the day before internet
rumors falls reports amateur air traffic controllers following a plane
across North America. Baseball fans everywhere that day wondered where
(12:50):
in the world is sho Heotani. Friday, December eighth, twenty
twenty three, five point thirty nine am Pacific time, John
Morosi Network.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
Tweeted, that's a great use of sound of sound Americans.
How about the ominous soundtrack? Well, yeah, you know Hornstres
was about to lose his credibility. Here come tweet it out,
Sourcetani decision is early as today.
Speaker 5 (13:15):
That one note from a national baseball insider sent the
sports world into a tizzm.
Speaker 3 (13:21):
This is getting a bit more real.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
Toronto is getting a little bit more momentum than I
thought they were going to. And if he goes to Toronto,
he owns it, and he owns Canada, he owns the
United States, and he owns Japan, and he becomes an
international star.
Speaker 5 (13:35):
Less than an hour after the initial news that Otani's
decision was imminent six point thirty one am Pacific, a
Toronto Blue Jays fan posted on a Reddit page that
a private plane was charted to fly from Orange County
to Toronto. That same plane had flown to Florida five
days earlier with Otani on it, so speculation was swirling
(13:58):
now that show Hey Otani was headed to Toronto to
sign with the Blue Jays. The buzz on social media
was growing as fans tried to connect the dots. Instantly,
fans became amateur air traffic control. They were tracking flight
in six one six our h as it made its
way slowly across the country.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
Take a look at the radar right there.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
It's a Bombardier Global five thousand.
Speaker 2 (14:24):
Is this airplane?
Speaker 5 (14:27):
The mystery continued ten fifty three am Pacific, five hours
after the report that Otani's signing was imminent. Jp hornstr
writer for a Dodgers.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
I uh, I feel like I'm watching like unsolved. Miss Yeah,
I'm engross like it's really good. I'm in it's It
reminds me of American greed on CNBC The America. Yeah,
see the sound effects, Ready Gates. P.
Speaker 5 (14:58):
Hornstruck, a writer for a Dot posted an article citing
multiple sources that Shoey Otani was indeed planning on signing
with the Toronto Blue Jays one oh one pm Pacific.
Over two hours later, MLB network insider John Morosi updated
everyone with a.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
Tweet sources shoey Otani is en route to Toronto today.
Speaker 5 (15:21):
Things were changing quickly to eleven pm Pacific, the story
took a new twist as Bob Nightingale of the USA
Today posted on social media that shoe Aotani was not
on a flight to Toronto, was actually at home here
in southern California. Forty three minutes later, two fifty four
pm Pacific, Evan Mitsui, a CBC photographer, was dispatched to
(15:45):
the tarmac and Pierson in Toronto. When he arrived, he
got eyes on the most talked about playing in North America.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
So what did he discover?
Speaker 5 (15:55):
It was not Shoeotani after all, It was Robert Hirchivitz,
the Canadian businessman and entrepreneur and one of the stars
of the TV show Shark Tank.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
I had no idea.
Speaker 7 (16:10):
It was just me and my five and a half
year old twins guy. Yeah, there's a bunch of person
it shies and go where's the Tani? And then my
text start coming in. I put two or two together.
They didn't even.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
Ask for my passport. They were so disappointed. It was me.
Speaker 7 (16:26):
I've never been more humbled in my life.
Speaker 5 (16:28):
A wild eight hours of reports, rumors, and speculation. Where
in the world was Sho heeo Tani? Well he was
not only not in Canada, he was never even on
a flight to Toronto about to side with the Blue Jays,
something that really upset fans north of the border.
Speaker 3 (16:45):
No, no, no way.
Speaker 5 (16:47):
I don't want to hear on how fans shouldn't believe
things on social This rumor was awful.
Speaker 8 (16:52):
The idea that he would come up and be a
Toronto Blue Jay was going to change everything.
Speaker 3 (16:57):
Turns out nothing was changing.
Speaker 5 (16:58):
As the sunset any Wild Friday showy Otani remained baseball's
most sought after free agent. The next day, Saturday, December ninth,
Otani broke his silence and made it official he was
signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
Wow, look at that? How did that lose? And look
at that stinger on the way out the How did
that lose? Kate, I don't know.
Speaker 5 (17:20):
Some little station in Ventura about the Cowboys coming back.
Speaker 3 (17:24):
To town one that is terrible.
Speaker 4 (17:26):
I think they didn't like your keyboard sound effects. Yeah,
I heard the Ventura people had much better keyboard sound effects.
Typewriter that full type.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
I heard they still use those. That's right, all right,
wonderful stuff. Tim. We appreciate it.
Speaker 5 (17:41):
Thank you, guys.
Speaker 2 (17:42):
I think that Uh did you just let it go
through uncut like a bag of heroin?
Speaker 8 (17:46):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (17:46):
In Colombia? Did you just let it go through uncut
on the scam this Morning show? Oh?
Speaker 3 (17:51):
Yeah, we just played it clean.
Speaker 2 (17:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (17:52):
Yeah, I appreciate you guys listening and stopping it.
Speaker 3 (17:55):
That's good.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
It was great.
Speaker 3 (17:57):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
I want to make sure everybody had the hid Beted Shipy,
the host of Hoops Talk on YouTube, Alan Sleiwah. He's
gonna join us next? Is he going to be in
studio on the phone on the telephone? Oh? I thought
it was going to be back to back studio in
studio guests on the telephone. Can't do that. That's crazy talk.
We used to do it all the time. No, never,
(18:19):
they're wrong with you. We'll be back with mar Petro sand.
Speaker 4 (18:23):
Money Sliwa on the Lakers loss at Crypto dot Com
Arena last night, sans Lebron James.
Speaker 2 (18:28):
But what really matters is Luca's point total forty three.
So don't worry about it, right, We'll be right back
with more petros, some money on this. We just won't
be defeated Wednesday live on the iHeartRadio app and streamable
and podcastable.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
We've made it even easier to take LA Sports with
you this summer. Make AM five to seventy or your
favorite AM five seventy LA Sports podcast a preset on
the iHeartRadio app using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto road
Trip Fall summer with LA.
Speaker 4 (19:01):
Sports Dodgers, Blue Jays Friday at five, Chargers Vikings tomorrow
at five point fifteen, and tonight Clippers v. Jazz at
six pm. We are where we're playing all the games
today on the station. That is what we got going
here on A five seventy LA Sports. You want LA
(19:22):
play by play, well you have found it, my friend.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
We are excited to have our next guest in the
phone crew, the host of Hoops.
Speaker 3 (19:30):
Talk on the telephone.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
He's on the phone.
Speaker 4 (19:32):
I thought he was going to be in here. We
were under the guy. It was under the guys that
he would be here.
Speaker 2 (19:36):
I thought it was gonna be in here doing the
rounds like doctor Foreman doing the iHeart car wash. We
can going on with Cruise, We all access going on
with Big Boy. Oh yeah, Mark and Kim. He's bringing
the show and the Lakers content to the AM five
seventy LA Sports Wheelhouse and the iHeartRadio digital platform. Alan
(20:02):
Sleiewah part of the Lakers broadcast for a decade, a decade,
We're now excited to have him a part of the
AM five seventy and iHeart family. He's buttoned up and
he knows his stuff and he's not going to suffer
our foolishness. So let's get down to brass Tex joining
us on the Southern California Toyoda Dealers Celebrity Hotline. It
(20:23):
is our new colleague. So the last time we added
a person but like since like nineteeny twelve, not since
Lee hand left. We're going to Rodney a battle a
lot sure, Alan Sleewise our guest, Alan, how are you
welcome to the show?
Speaker 8 (20:42):
Patros Money, thank you for having me on, man, I
really appreciate it. I'm excited to be on with you guys,
obviously excited to talk about the partnership with iHeart, but
thank you for having me. I appreciate that.
Speaker 2 (20:53):
Can you tell us some details, because everybody once we
mentioned that you were coming on, we got a lot
of text saying guys, awesome and all kinds of different stuff.
Do you know exactly what you're going to be doing
or should we should we save that for another interview.
Speaker 8 (21:07):
Well, that was my cousin that texted you guys. That'll
probably it was, Yeah, that was it. Yeah, what we'll
do is, you know I've been doing I've been on
YouTube for a while, but for the last year Monday
through Friday, I'm on at eight am and predominantly talking
Lakers NBA basketball, and I don't have it on a
(21:27):
podcast form. I just do it on YouTube. So Iheart's
going to be picking up the podcast form of that,
so those that don't get it live can get the
audio version. I'll be doing some Laker reports that are
going to air on five seventy Monday through Friday, and
then after after games, I typically do a you know,
just kind of reaction right after the game, and that
(21:48):
will be on the iHeartRadio network as well.
Speaker 4 (21:52):
So Alan, obviously the Laker content will be considerably more
compelling if we have a team pushing a champion and
ship pedigree out there on the court. You were at
Crypto last night, no Lebron. He was in a sweet
looking suit, wearing a couple of gold chains outside of
a mock turtleneck or a T shirt that probably cost
a couple grand. What did you see on the court?
(22:12):
How much did they miss him? Where does this team
slot into a very competitive Western Conference this season?
Speaker 2 (22:19):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (22:19):
I think last night was kind of a perfect scope
of what it looks like without Lebron, They're going to struggle.
And the Golden State Warriors are obviously a buttoned up team.
They know their identity, They understand that defense turns to offense,
the ball is always moving, and I think for the Lakers,
you saw a team that without Lebron, is going to
(22:41):
depend so much on one player, which obviously is not
going to be the recipe for success. As great as
Luca is in forty three to twelve and nine, that's
a video game stat line. It's not going to win
you a lot of games if you don't have help
from around you. So I think if it's mid November
that Lebron doesn't come back, and the Lakers are obviously
going to need some time to figure out their continuity.
(23:04):
You got different players. I think it will be tough.
You hover around five hundred, and I would say that's
that's probably a good record if Lebron's not there. But
the reality is big picture, if you don't have Lebron,
it's already going to be a challenge with Lebron. Without him,
it's it's gonna be a tough feat to hang with
with some of these more competitive teams in the Western Conference.
Speaker 2 (23:24):
Did Skinny Luca already blow out his groin? Alan?
Speaker 8 (23:29):
They said he's all right, but yeah, I know JJ
Reddicks mentioned it today that he thinks he's okay, but
right out the gate, you know Petro's I would say
that that's just a perfect example if you're asking one
player to do everything, not only and Skinny Luca looks
(23:50):
a lot better than he did, you know, obviously in
the playoffs or or last season when he was on
the Lakers. But as great as shape that he's in,
it's not like a man is completely invincible. He's gonna
need other players around him to help, and just too
much on one persons shoulder and Luca will be a
top three, top four candidate MVP this season, but it
(24:11):
can't be all on him. And I think you are right, Hey,
is he already has you already got a bumped growing
forty eight minutes into the first game. Hopefully that's not
the case their next game coming up on Broaday.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
Obviously the bench is an issue. Is there a fix
for that? Doesn't seem like they have much bench production.
Speaker 8 (24:28):
Well, I don't know if there's a fix, but I
think what's gonna have to happen is guys are going
to have to produce. And it's not just the bench,
I think to some of the starters as well. You know,
if you look at the roster and you say, hey,
Lebron's going to be out for a month, what player
do they need to have step up the most? I'd
say Ruy Hachamura. But Ruy continues to prove that he's
(24:50):
gonna give you moments where he looks like, wow, Ruley's
got sixteen to eight in the first half, and then
he's gonna give you nights like yesterday where they need
a most where I don't even feel his presence on
the court. If you get to the bench, there really
isn't much of a bench there. I mean, I hate
to say this because I've been promoting Jared Vanderbilt, and
I thought Vando had a really nice preseason. Him and
(25:12):
Vando had the same amount of points of the three
of us combined yesterday. And I know he's not an
offensive player. He can't you, but it's okay, he's not
an offensive player. But what you can't have is your
offense is taking you off the court. And I thought
his lack of offense didn't allow him to play more
than fourteen minutes yesterday. So I don't want to sound
two down, even though I think I'm sounding down. I
(25:33):
think they will figure some things out, but it's not
going to be an easy path. And I don't think
we need to bs each other that, oh the roster
is great or these players all look great.
Speaker 4 (25:43):
Well, So not to pile on with the negativity here
sleeve well of us though a little bit. Hey, Look,
I thought Marcus Smart's energy was good. The antagonist in
him looked like it was appropriate and what they signed
up for, and it worked a little bit out there,
the energy, all that stuff. But to me, like my
biggest takeaway watching that game was DeAndre Ayton. Is it
(26:05):
looks like DeAndre Ayton of Portland, Like, how's that guy?
Only got six rebounds. Why is that guy not mixing
it up near the rim? And it just felt like
the signing was celebrated, the presser was celebrated, the two
man game with he and Luca was going to be great,
and then the game showed up and it's like, oh, yeah,
this is a guy that floats a little too much
and got out of here with six rebounds, and that
(26:26):
just can't happen.
Speaker 8 (26:29):
I think the only thing we have it's easy. Anytime
you watch a game, it's easy. And I'm the same way.
I'm I'm reacting to what I just saw. I didn't
really think anything happened in the preseason where I thought, oh, man, DeAndre,
this guy looks like maybe a version of himself when
he was in Phoenix and that pick and roll with
Chris Paul. But you know what, Luca wasn't playing, so
(26:51):
let's wait for the regular season. This first game, I
didn't walk away saying to myself, man, he's an enforcer downlow.
That's exactly what the Lakers mean. There's some bullyball down there.
He's an enforcer on the defensive side. Like you were
just mentioning money from a rebounding perspective. He dominates the paint.
He doesn't give you that feeling at all. Now, will
we be saying something different ten fifteen games from now. Maybe,
(27:15):
But I think that's more the chemistry with him and Luca.
But I don't think he's all of a sudden going
to change his personality and become a bully down low.
I don't think that's you know, if he hasn't done
that by now, that's probably not going to change. But
he might be the most important player on this Lakers
roster because I know what Luca's going to do, I
know what Reeves is going to do. Hopefully Lebron is healthy.
You've got to have it big in the NBA. You've
(27:36):
got to be able to have some type of resemblance
of defense within that paint. And if the Lakers are
if the game plan is we're going to try to
outscore teams one twenty two to one nineteen, that's not
a sustainable game plan. So hopefully for eight and in
ten games, we're talking about more things positive about it.
Speaker 4 (27:53):
Most importantly, I don't know if you have an opportunity
to kind of take a gander around the arena and
take stock of what jerseys are being worn, and what
number do I see the most of We have we
seen the shift? Have we seen Luca make his way
to over fifty percent of the jerseys worn inside the arena?
(28:14):
Is Kobe still number one? Where does Lebron slot in?
Speaker 1 (28:17):
Like?
Speaker 4 (28:17):
What are people wearing out there? Who's the true number
one top of the pop star of the Lakers In
twenty five twenty.
Speaker 8 (28:24):
Six, I think Gabe Vincent had fifty one percent. Yeah,
if I did my math right, I think I saw Gabe.
Now I think it's still You know, Lebron is a bitch.
Lebron is so iconic, and I think the fact that
obviously he's been around for such a long time. I
(28:45):
think the fact that he's played for so many different
teams or his stops in Miami and Cleveland.
Speaker 3 (28:52):
He's global.
Speaker 8 (28:53):
And not to say that Luca's not global, But it
will take a second, and before you know it, it
will be Listen, the keys are already in Luca's hands.
So the team has already said, Luca, this is your team.
They've already started making decisions around Luca. Everything else will
catch up, But you know, you've got to give your
(29:13):
respect to somebody that's been doing it for twenty plus years,
and I still think there is I still think there's
a ton of his jerseys that are there and Luca's again,
I still think it's it's they're building everything around him,
but Lebron's still very well represented at those games.
Speaker 2 (29:32):
Feels like we're still getting nailed by the King.
Speaker 8 (29:34):
Getting by the King.
Speaker 2 (29:35):
Yes, Alan, I'm sorry. I'm sorry about that, but you
didn't deserve.
Speaker 8 (29:45):
No, that's great. I did. I wasn't expecting that clip.
I didn't know that was coming up.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
We are being nailed by the game. You get the King.

era chargers. But we have a pair being given away
through our social media feed on Instagram at A five
(31:45):

instructions and an opportunity for you to find your way
inside the building tomorrow night.
Speaker 2 (31:53):
Joining us right now. One of our dearest friends. If
you have an issue with a family member yourself, this
is the guy you call if you know him. One
of the great angels among us, Doctor Stephen Foreman, International
expert in the treatment of cancer, bone marrow transplantation and
(32:16):
immune therapy of cancer. Doctor Foreman is the best of
the best, and he rolls with City of Hope. He
also rolls pretty deeply with the Dodgers and a big
fan of Scam, the uh sax and Kate's and the AMA.
What did you think I was talking?
Speaker 9 (32:35):
I wasn't sure, but I do listen to that shot.
Speaker 2 (32:37):
I heard that you.
Speaker 9 (32:39):
Yes I am of Scam, Yes I am.
Speaker 2 (32:42):
But it's always wonderful to see doctor Foreman. We know
that whenever you come to the iHeart Building, everybody's in
a good mood because doctor Foreman spread so much joy
and hope. Like the City of Hope and d'artte one
of the greatest facilities for treatment on Earth. We also
know that doctor form and rolls with the Dodgers deeply,
(33:02):
but we also know that this will be your favorite
interview of the day regardless of where they take. Are
we wrong?
Speaker 9 (33:10):
You are completely correct. This is a high point of
the experience, end of the day.
Speaker 2 (33:15):
The low point is high point. But what's the low point?
You gotta tell us, No, no.
Speaker 9 (33:20):
There's there's no low point in coming here. This is
this is a joy to come over here, Come on.
Speaker 2 (33:25):
So I uh, I want to start with this doctor.
We all got the social media you scroll through, and
I'm sure you've seen this as a as a doctor
is one of the foremost authorities on trying to knock
this thing out right because to this damn cancer thing. Uh,
I'm sure you've seen it, right. It's like you get
a you get a thing that pops up on your
Instagram feed. It's like, hey, dandelion stems are here to
(33:46):
cure cancer, or all of those things like it. Does
it infuriate you? Is it frustrating? It's trying to provide
hope to some of the like kind of I'm sure
you've seen it, right, Like the many different holistic or
whatever you want to call them, approaches that invade your
space and provide you with some of that hope.
Speaker 9 (34:06):
So patients bring that sort of information to me all
the time, and I try to keep it out of
the way of the therapy that really will work. These
are in the long list of unproven treatments of cancer.
And to your point, Matt, it's that people when they're
in a desperate situation, their ears are open to things
that may not be for their best interest, and we
just try to help them not be harmed by because
(34:29):
sometimes it interferes with their current therapy. But I hear it,
you all hear it, and I try to keep people
focused on what will work and what's best for them.
Speaker 2 (34:38):
What's pop up with the Walk of Hope, Doc, do
you still walk it out? Yes, you still stretch those
strong legs of yours.
Speaker 9 (34:44):
I do my best. There will be November second that
City of Hope. You're welcome to come and join us.
But it's patients and staff and administrators, doctors, nurses, researchers
who are all walking for one purpose, to help raise
money to do the work that we do that will
help the next generation of people who are coming to us.
Speaker 4 (35:03):
How are we doing on money? How are we I
know a lot of people depending on you know, where
you expect it to come from.
Speaker 2 (35:09):
Or are we asking them for a loan? No, not
a city of help, you know. I mean we do
hard work too, write like how is everything on the
money on the research front and all that in twenty
twenty five?
Speaker 9 (35:19):
So I think you know. I often say to our
people who help raise money for a City of Hope,
there is not a brick or a test tube or
a syringe at the City of Hope that hasn't had
somebody's dollar on it. Somebody contributed so that we can
do our work. Without it, progress would be much slower
and if at all. So I come to work grateful
every day for people who give money, because that money
(35:41):
is an expression of trust that we're going to be
good stewards of their donation to do the right thing,
and it's built into what we do with City of Hope.
So any of those contributions are taken very seriously and
put to good use. As I said, without it, we
couldn't do what we do.
Speaker 2 (35:58):
Doctor Foreman's a great fun like the guys at the
Orange Bowl that wear the orange jackets, very very popular,
But does your Dodger fandom sometimes getting the way when
you're trying to raise money like some crazy Red Sox guys,
like all I want you to do is take off
that old braddy hat, doctor Forman, and you won't do it,
and then he's not going to give you the donation.
(36:20):
That do you ever run into that kind of thing,
you know? Or is that too petty or for the
stakes of cancer research and what you guys do.
Speaker 9 (36:28):
So, as they know down in Chavez Ravine, the city
of Hope is Dodger Town. So between the staff and
the patients, it's a it's a huge following, and we
tolerate at a certain level Yankee fans. Oh, people like that,
but because we're good people.
Speaker 2 (36:48):
That's right. But I heard that that, like the Yankee
fan doctors are the most insufferable doctors. Have you found that.
Speaker 9 (36:55):
I have a friend at the Dana Farber in Boston
and that's exactly They're right terrible.
Speaker 3 (37:01):
Now, how do you feel right now?
Speaker 2 (37:05):
Because you know, a lot of people feel really really
good about the Dodgers. You know, they've just been burning
through the playoffs acting cool. A lot of people are
nonchalant about what may or may not happen in the
world series, very confident, feeling good with the four pitchers
and then some people like that we did not make
decisions that cost the team and then come.
Speaker 8 (37:25):
Off the sideline and it's nonchalant.
Speaker 2 (37:28):
But that's what we're doing. You know, we have a
are we not taking the Blue Jay sheries. We have
a buccaneer's attitude, you know what I mean, a swashbuckling attitude,
like aha, Like do you feel that way or do
you keep like some doubt in the back of your
mind just so you feel leveled out about the series
because I know you're into it, Doc.
Speaker 9 (37:43):
Yeah, So I take nothing for granted, and I know
the team does not take it for granted that people
don't talk about the sweep, but I think the players
are focused. I think it finally came together at the
season's end. Although, as I shared earlier with Shannon that
you know, for the fans, when I have it on
good authority that visits to the emergency room with guys
(38:05):
with chest pain, every time a Dodger or Libra comes
into the ninth inning, it just.
Speaker 2 (38:10):
Spikes right up. You know, do you do? You do
you guys?
Speaker 4 (38:14):
Because you know, we hear this about doctors that they
have surgeons soundtracks that they listen to if if you've
got to be in there and there's a and there's
a Dodger game on, something like that, like where what
is where is the cutoff point of where the game
where you can't have the game on anymore? Can you
listen to it in the in the room?
Speaker 2 (38:35):
Yes? Can you? Can you have a five seventy l
a sports on in the operating room? No?
Speaker 9 (38:39):
No, you know, but I think we are totally said
the organist Teter Rule, now that he's that's a fan
favorite for sure.
Speaker 2 (38:47):
He's the best best organist in the business.
Speaker 9 (38:49):
I think you're right, you know.
Speaker 2 (38:50):
Can you play music?
Speaker 9 (38:52):
Some different surgeons have different music that they have going
for really keeping the place sort of calm, I would say,
but not anything that would divert attention away from their task, like.
Speaker 2 (39:03):
A glamorrock surgeon.
Speaker 9 (39:05):
Yes, not ideal, but I can tell you patience. They
come in, they're checking the score. When I go in
the room, they'll say they're up five to three, you know.
So it's you can really feel. And that's why for
me and I think we've talked to this before. When
I am out of the hospital and I run into
people at Dodger Stadium or here and it's just nice
to see people out in the regular world during regular
(39:27):
things like cheering for the Dodgers. So it's it's uh,
it means a lot to us to see people get
back to normal activities.
Speaker 2 (39:34):
Tell us, Doc, how much time have you spent in Canada?
Speaker 9 (39:38):
How much time have I spent in Canada?
Speaker 2 (39:40):
Yeah, have had his honeymoon there. I know that it's
true Westler. It's beautiful, not Whistler.
Speaker 9 (39:46):
You So I went last summer to Lake the week Damn,
you know it is beautiful.
Speaker 2 (39:54):
Do you regret Matt regrets it now because of the
Dodgers Blue Jays. Do you regret it?
Speaker 1 (40:00):
No?
Speaker 9 (40:00):
No, it was beautiful.
Speaker 2 (40:02):
And he came in earlier today he said, one of
the biggest regrets of my life, Petros, and that I
know about me. I stepped foot in that country and
now it makes me sick. Do you feel the same
way because of this heated rivalry we're about to face.
Speaker 9 (40:16):
You know, I enjoyed the visit, beautiful, I know, but
I'm rooting for the Dodgers's you know what.
Speaker 2 (40:21):
That's fair, that's diplomatic, that's wonderful. We are rooting for
the Walk of Hope. This is what we are rooting
for Sunday, November two, raising money taking steps towards cancer cures.
You'll be walking in it. A lot of folks will
be walking in it. I'm a lot better than you, guys.
I'll tell you why I never went to Canada. You
might be curing cancer or whatever, but at least I
(40:42):
never stepped foot in that dirty country that the Dodgers
are about to humiliate. You and Mack can go back
to Lake Louise. It's glorious. It is beautiful. It's glorious. Truly,
nobody's a better guy than you, Doctor Foreman, You're the best,
and we love you. You're a wonderful, wonderful river to
your people in this town, people that need help, people
(41:02):
that need answers, people that need a gentle hand and voice.
You provide that no matter what they're like, they could
be Canadian or god even worse, a Yankee fan. God
bless you and uh good luck in all your endeavors.
Speaker 9 (41:15):
All right, So thank you. It's just it's so much
fun and dis honor to be here with you, guys.
I listened to you guys on the radio. I talk
about you guys, you know.
Speaker 2 (41:24):
Well, thank you, We talk about you. We do still
talk about you in the leagues today. That's exactly right.
They're into you on the morning show too, though, Sax
and Kate's in the am. Absolutely, we're all in competition
for your patriot.
Speaker 9 (41:40):
We want to replace Dan past Yeah, yeah, yeah, Foreman,
don't get me invited back.
Speaker 2 (41:49):
Martin's hair just got unfeathered and he was listening on
the iHeart Radio.
Speaker 3 (41:53):
No dams a friend.
Speaker 2 (41:54):
I put that thing together, damn it. They couldn't do
it without La. They needed an ancor city and we
were in. We hope to see you at Doctor Stadium.
You're the best to see you, the best seat in
the suite for Doctor Foreman and the good people at
City of Hope. Go to City of Hope for any
questions they have answers. God bless them all. We'll be
(42:15):
right back with the word number Song of the day.
