Speaker 3 (00:49):
Petros and Money in five seven LA Sports Live everywhere
on the iHeartRadio AP your home of the back to
back World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers. Another four hour
show today three until seven pm. No play by play
in coming David Vass with off day off season Hot Stove.
Dodger Talk returns tonight at seven pm as the Dodgers
(01:11):
make their way through the Greater Los Angeles community sporting events.
Cain's drive throughs television shows, autograph signings. They are out.
They are celebrating their World Series championship, just like we
are here on your Home of the Dodgers and will
over the course of the next four hours on the
petros In Money Show.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Yes, there will still be Dodger celebration. In fact, there
is an off season pre hot stove. Maybe the stove
is starting to percolate. Dodger Talk tonight, starring the hard
working David Vasa at seven o'clock and we'll check in
with Dave, I think in the next hour to get
(01:54):
the p's and q's of what he's going to be
doing and maybe ask a few questions about the off season.
So we have Dodger Talk tonight. So we're still you're
home of the back to back World Series champion Los
Angeles Dodgers, even though the circus is falling down on
its knees and Yoshi Yamamoto is out there sweeping up
(02:16):
with a push broom on Grand Avenue and cleaning up
like he cleaned up the.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
Dodger dugout after his Freeman's doing the centipede.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
Yeah, Freddy Freeman's doing the centipede. While keyk looks on
just a dog and Yamamoto is out Push Brooming Grand Avenue.
And other than that, our schedule is as follows. Tomorrow,
there'll be a flex Alert pregame is it five, tip
off is at six. It is another Clipper game. The
(02:52):
hits just keep on coming. Well, the Clippers haven't won
a whole bunch, but it's.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
Still early, and it was loaded early last night, load
management night. Last night, you got the defending champs. We'll
dig into this a little bit more a little bit later,
and I'm sure Don McLean will weigh in when he
is with us tomorrow, but you got the defending champs
in town, one of the marquee games on the calendar
(03:21):
at the Intuit Dome with former Clipper Sega Shay Gilgess,
Alexander the league MVP, and the reigning world champs Holme
grind and everybody in town and the Clippers, because that
six game load for Bradley Beal and Kawhi Leonard just
too much to possibly have them play on a back
(03:42):
to back. Just can't even fathom the idea. Even though
they will not play today, nor will they play Friday,
cannot possibly have those two guys in the lineup for
all the folks possibly paying to go into the Intuit
Dome to watch the Clippers take on the defending champion
in Oklahoma City Thunder. So we're just gonna we're gonna
load manage those guys and point out a d NP
(04:05):
dash rest did way to go? Guys?
Speaker 2 (04:08):
Did the eight o'clock start discourage them from playing? Or
was it meant to encourage them from playing? We talked
about that awesome nbcpacock eight pm Western or Pacific Standard
time eleven pm Eastern tip off. That's pretty it's pretty
(04:29):
sad commentary on us.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
Yeah, it is. And and I will say I you know,
I did watch it last night. I was like, ah,
you know what, it's eight o'clock er. You know, by
the time I got home from the show, I was
able to kind of pop in a little bit later.
And it's just it sounds a lot like TNT. Reggie
Miller's on there, Jamal Crawford's on there, Turrico I think
it was no Was it Noah last night or was
(04:51):
it Turico? I think it was Noah last night? But
it's like, really, guys, we're already doing this six games
end of the year. We're already doing the no Bradley Beal,
no Kawhi Leonard when the defending champions are in town.
It's just it's a real kick to the d for
the people that bought tickets for that particular game, because
you would assume that's one of the circle it on
the calendar games. It's the defending champion freaking team coming
(05:15):
to town.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
Yeah, but the sun tomorrow in Phoenix, man, I mean
that's a big one.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
I want to sleep on that one. I mean, what
a mess, what an absolute unmitigated disaster, mess, embarrassment that
you're six games into the season and Oklahoma City is
coming to town next on April eighth, the third to
last game of the season, and you can't even have
those guys out there because it's a freaking back to
(05:43):
back spit the bit on Monday against Miami.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
At least the coach isn't implicated in the poker stuff
with his best friend Chauncey Billups. At least that's not happening,
And at least the owners not getting sued for perhaps
supplementing Kawhi Leonards in common.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
It's a great point. At least that's not happening. I mean,
if you think load positives out there.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
If you think load management is their biggest problem, Matt,
you might be mistaken. Oh and here's another question about
Oklahoma City versus the Clippers who won the trade.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
Yeah, that's a great question.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
So tomorrow that's a flex alert Clippers at suns Don
McClain will be in. That is a pregame that starts
at five, so the show will start to.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
Alert.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Schedule talk continues with Sunday Night Football Chargers versus the Steelers.
Kickoff is at five point fifteen on KFI Am sixty
And looks like we have some tickets to give away today, Matt.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
On the show. We have a pair to give away
today between now and seven pm Primetime Sunday Night Football
Mike Turco, Chris Collinsworth, NBC Not Peacock and on our
sister station, as you mentioned, PKF I AM six forty
with Daniel Jeremiah, Shannon Farron, and we have a pair
of tickets to give away, so we can give them
(07:17):
away any time between now and seven. And you should
also go check out the Am five to seventy LA
Sports Instagram feed because also a pair of tickets being
given away there and the contest will end tomorrow at noon.
If you want to just go over there, follow the instructions.
It's just like tag a friend and follow AM five
to seventy LA sports and you're all good, you know.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
Matt speaking of the Chargers, and before we move on,
we've made a theme out of, you know, playing different
music that people have been enjoying around town and in
other towns.
Speaker 3 (07:54):
Yeah, that's a great, great theme by you to get
the Reds, the Phillies, the Brewers, the Blue Jays, and
and what their signature song might be. We ended up
unearthing some real gems there.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
We did, and a lot of people followed our lead,
like the Barstool people. They jumped on the Toronto song.
Weeks after we had the Toronto song Okay Blue Jays,
which was a real yeah, let's play ball, And we
had the not only the Cincinnati theme song, but also
(08:29):
the Cincinnati like home run hype song music don't you know,
pump it up? But what's this one?
Speaker 3 (08:37):
This is the Blue Jays? Well, yeah, but do we
need to all right, let's.
Speaker 5 (08:43):
Give it all right?
Speaker 3 (08:46):
They were singing this during Game six when they won.
This is where they sing it during figs.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
Until they must have sang it during game one. Last ball?
Is that a fly ball? They lost most of their
games at home?
Speaker 3 (09:07):
Yeah, three or four.
Speaker 6 (09:09):
Coming in from the lake, because I swear I heard
this being played like during the game and they were
all singing a chance.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
Maybe it was like in the seventh inning stretch or something.
Speaker 2 (09:16):
You know, that's what it was. You're right? Were they
arm in? Arm down?
Speaker 4 (09:21):
What are your wants?
Speaker 3 (09:23):
They're all chugging maple syrup? Okay, blue Jays last?
Speaker 2 (09:34):
So that's that's the blue Jays song. And I found
it interesting since we're still talking about the Blue Jays
for some reason. I went on the Dave Softy Mahler
Show today up in Seattle as I as I do
every Wednesday for like ten years plus.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
Has he stopped m F and U since you took
some shots at the Mariners there?
Speaker 2 (09:55):
I think he's mad, or he's he's still mad about
I didn't take shots at the Mariners case.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
I guess Kate's was the one playing the sound, but I.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
Just wanted to play the song. And then because I
liked the song, but Kate Kates wanted to play the
call where it was a spring or danger, and they
got kind of butt hurt because he kept playing it
over and over. Yeah, he called me a lot of names.
(10:23):
You know, he got, he got after me, He attacked
my appearance, he attacked everything about me. Uh, he really
lashed out. But and it's on it's uncharacteristic because usually,
you know, somebody beats you in the playoffs, you kind
of want that team to go on and win, right,
so you could say, well, we got beaten by the champs,
(10:45):
not lose to another team. Like that's one certain school
of thought, right, I'm not like if somebody beats you
and then they go on to win.
Speaker 3 (10:53):
The chance to win it, well, you know, look, they
were the team obviously if destiny. We just happened to
get in their way.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
Yeah, you shrug your shoulders and say whatever. But Softy
was adamant that he wanted the Blue Jays to lose.
He was adamant that he wanted the Dodgers to win
the World Series, and he wanted the Blue Jays fans
to wear it. I guess they really got involved on
the keyboards, you know, Twitter or whatever, attacking each other,
(11:22):
Softy and the Blue Jays fans, And he said the
Blue Jays fans were cowards. Hiding behind burner accounts and
all this stuff. I mean, he really had a long
detailed thing.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
Did he like engage them or something or I.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
Don't know, I don't know what they do. I mean,
I really, honestly, I really don't. But that being said,
he was actually kind of thrilled today that the Dodgers
were able to beat the Blue Jays and take it
to the Blue Jays and stick it to Canada, and
that was kind of his And now Washington's ranked. They
(11:58):
have a pretty good schedule leading up of their organ
game at the end of the year. You know, they
have to go to Madison, but Wisconsin's not playing well
and Wisconsin is probably going to lose that game. So
Washington is. I don't know if they're going to make
the college football Playoff in the Big Ten, but Washington
football under Jed Fish with a new quarterback this year,
(12:19):
looks good. So he might be kind of wound healing
in this moment if I had to guess about Softy.
But that was the Blue Jays song I found set
by a listener, and I don't know.
Speaker 3 (12:34):
I believe, I believe when we ranked them, the Blue
Jay song came in fourth out of four, the Brewers.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
I don't know, you don't play number one. I like
the Blue Jayson. I don't know about any olden.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
I don't know about They're terrible though, But I.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
Mean, I thought the Brewers song was by far the catchiest,
yes and the most fun. And the Brewers got so
blown out by the Dodgers we weren't able to enjoy
it for his long come see here. It is a
superstar leader anyway, I mean. And we played a lot
(13:19):
of these songs and we had a lot of success.
Somebody's trying to keep it going on the NFL side,
Matt and as you are the voice of the Bolts,
and the Chargers have Sunday Night football this week, and
we hosted the great Jim Harbaugh on the show on
Monday to talk to us mostly about the Dodgers, not
(13:39):
the big Sunday night football matchup, and the fact that
the Chargers are having a pretty good year and Justin
Herbert looks awesome even though they don't have their tackles
and he's running for his life, like the one shining moment,
you're running for your live. So somebody on the textoso
(14:00):
sent me a new Chargers song that's out. I don't
know if you've heard this. It's wait wait wait, let
me set it up. So wait a minute, Matt.
Speaker 3 (14:10):
I thought this was limited to the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
Well, what are you talking about? We had Jim Harbaugh
this week and it's Sunday night football. Yeah, and we
got tickets to give away.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
Yeah. I feel like the songs are a playoff thing,
you know they just.
Speaker 2 (14:24):
Are you trying to say that we can't? Are you
the voice of the Bolts putting your foot down here?
Speaker 3 (14:27):
No, I just news. Yeah, I'm sure it's new, but
it'd be great if it were a postseason thing. You know.
Speaker 2 (14:34):
It's not Esther the electric violinist or anything like that.
Speaker 3 (14:39):
She's very popular, I know, is she back?
Speaker 4 (14:44):
No?
Speaker 3 (14:44):
Okay, house bamda. That's what we have for in game
entertainment now, and they are fantastic.
Speaker 2 (14:49):
Well, they might bring this guy in. His name is
Mac Montgomery, better known by his stage name Denham on
all caps d E N. He's a white guy from
Santa Barbara and he loves the Chargers and he's got
(15:11):
a few different albums. He's got two albums al named
Matt Denham Mac Montgomery. His name's dee N M born
in San Diego, lived in San Diego until he was fourteen,
and then he had some trouble in San Diego. You
(15:32):
know what a tough town that is, and he went
to Santa Barbara and moved in with his mother. She
kicked him out when he was sixteen. He got married
at a young age and had four kids. WHOA, So
this is Denham. He's got two albums and this is.
Speaker 3 (15:50):
Like a full on musician. This isn't like a fan thing.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
Wait a minute, Matt, the guys that wrote Okay, Blue
Jays were full on musicians, commissioned, commissioned by the Toronto
Blue Jays with the same thing with them. Yes, so
let's not disparage those songs just because they're forty plus
years old. Okay, Matt Montgomery Mac Montgomery, you could perform
(16:14):
with him as Matt Montgomery Smith Good has this song
called Bolt Up. Are you ready now?
Speaker 3 (16:27):
I don't think I have a choice.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
All right, real quick, just stop it, real quick, just stop,
just stop. I don't think this is bad. I think
this could play it so far in between the Mariachis.
I mean people people like this. Matt, listen to this,
(17:10):
I mean, you get the lightning going and the pyrotechnics.
Speaker 3 (17:17):
That's really a pump up song. Not a lot of
complex there.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
Well, I don't know, maybe he's gonna start talking about Herbert.
Speaker 4 (17:23):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (17:39):
I feel like we got what we're gonna get, right,
I don't know. And you know, I will say for
those trying to get a song to catch on and
be played in a stadium, probably the right path, you know,
just white.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
There's some white. But let's see if it's Matt in
there to pet it over.
Speaker 3 (18:04):
I think I thought I heard a touchdown there right
before the end. Was that mine?
Speaker 2 (18:07):
I heard it? I don't think it was Matt though, No,
I did not.
Speaker 3 (18:16):
And Matt, that's Kevin Harvey. Yeah that's not me, because
I would have I would have certainly served to cease
and desist.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
Yeah, you shouldn't have to, would you, really, Matt? You
wouldn't have let them use your awesome voice?
Speaker 3 (18:43):
No, I don't you, gentlemen.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
I what if I tell you this, just last year
he toured with a band that your daughter's touring with Pepper.
Look at that in the summer in twenty twenty four,
would you still cease and desist him?
Speaker 5 (19:00):
No?
Speaker 3 (19:02):
But I do think this is the approach, Like, if
your goal is to get the team to play it
in stadium, you know, between the third and fourth quarters
or the first and second quarters. Keep it simple, don't
don't give us your rhymes about all their great players
or iconic plays. Just anthemic, easy to sing along, heavy
(19:23):
beat jock Jammish. I think it's a decent approach.
Speaker 2 (19:28):
He's a white guy with like a trashy machine gun
Kelly's style mustache and he's all tatted up.
Speaker 3 (19:34):
Is he white guy reggae?
Speaker 1 (19:36):
Then?
Speaker 3 (19:36):
Is that why he was torn with Pepper? Is he
like going out slightly stupid and all that stuff too?
Speaker 2 (19:42):
He didn't didn't I didn't see slightly stupid. But he's
certainly a white guy. But it didn't sound like white
guy reggae. I mean, that didn't sound like white guy
reggae to me. And they said he learned a guitar
through being influenced by Led Zeppelin, So you know, I
don't know, Yeah, I don't know if he's a white
guy reggae guy. I mean that's not what I read.
(20:04):
I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job with
this guy, you know, and you're still asking kind of
crazy questions.
Speaker 3 (20:10):
Yeah, you know the last Charger song we played.
Speaker 2 (20:13):
I feel like I'm Jonathan Gannon, like I'm the coach
of the Cardinals, just getting pempered about Kyler Murray.
Speaker 3 (20:18):
What's what's going on with Kyler Murray?
Speaker 2 (20:20):
Did you like that? Did you like that? Sports? Do
you like that sports reference? I did right there?
Speaker 3 (20:24):
Way to pull it back. You know, know what this
show is?
Speaker 2 (20:27):
Okay, his major influence Bob Marley. Okay, so it could
be white reggae, Chris Cornell, the Sublime Guy, Bradley Knowle
and Jimmy Hendrix, Reggae, Lenny Kravitz and Kendrick Lamar.
Speaker 3 (20:45):
So well, got no idea where this guy's going.
Speaker 2 (20:48):
Yeah, but we do know the lyrics Los Angeles Chargers. Hey, Petros.
Speaker 6 (21:02):
These are all great songs in all, and it's cute
to play the Reds and the Brewers and the Phillies
and the Blue Jays songs.
Speaker 3 (21:09):
But this is the only real song we should be playing.
Speaker 6 (21:13):
All right, here you go, Bulldog or a Hershis are
listening right now. This is for you, my friend.
Speaker 2 (21:19):
I haven't heard this in the last week. Never gets old, Petros.
I mean, I'm trying to bring new things to the listeners.
Speaker 3 (21:27):
We'll see. Though it's great of a song, this is
is Freddy Murcury just doesn't have the whole range of Denims.
Speaker 2 (21:35):
No, Freddy Murcury can't step to Denim.
Speaker 3 (21:38):
No.
Speaker 7 (21:39):
Brian may Average calls the bench, it's.
Speaker 3 (21:49):
Not like that song's gonna endure for sixty years or so.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
So is that a thumbs down?
Speaker 3 (21:57):
Matt No, I thought it was okay.
Speaker 2 (22:00):
I think you.
Speaker 3 (22:00):
I think you sold it. I think you, I should say, Empire, Yeah,
you didn't oversell it. And I think our our guy,
Denim d E n M did a like I said,
he took the right approach. Like if you're gonna make
a song, make it simple, make it anthemic. It's easy
to kind of create an earworm. You can hear it
being played. It's big. You know, it's got to play
(22:23):
to seventy thousand people in a pack stadium where there's
a lot of noise. It's got to cut through. It's
got to sound good on that map. People top a
bunch of times. And then he says, right, he's got
some sound effects in there. Iconic calls from the likes
of Kevin Harlan and that other guy.
Speaker 2 (22:43):
So I've just maybe played that a good gund Joe Hortiz,
maybe play it for Josh.
Speaker 3 (22:51):
I'll take you right to the top. I'll take my
I'll take some Bluetooth headphones on the field and say, Dean,
hey over here.
Speaker 2 (22:59):
Now, I'm gonna put one in my ear and one
in yours. That's right, and we're gonna listen.
Speaker 3 (23:05):
Don't worry about it. I don't have a lot of wax.
What do you think of this.
Speaker 5 (23:16):
That?
Speaker 3 (23:16):
I don't see why that can't play in.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
A time out right or like a third big third down.
Speaker 3 (23:22):
Right, you know, you get a little bit of time
to get that build. You got all the highlights, you know,
running on the video on the Infinity board up there.
I would say defensive, right, seems like more of a
defensive theme. A lot of big hits.
Speaker 2 (23:35):
Well on third down with the offense, you need the
crowd to be quiet, you know.
Speaker 3 (23:40):
Yeah. I think it's maybe more of a defensive stand
sort of vibe right, very aggressive, angry.
Speaker 2 (23:50):
I mean, we're keeping the music theme going, everybody.
Speaker 3 (23:52):
Damn right, we are.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
Wait till I find a Steeler song before Sunday.
Speaker 3 (23:57):
Oh black and yellow, black and yellow, Oh.
Speaker 2 (23:59):
God, right, Well, a jazz lover. The Great James Worthy
of Spectrum SPORTSNAT and one of the great Lakers of

Lakers Hot start. It's Petros and Money on AM five

Sand Money, AM five seventy LA Sports Live Everywhere on

Talk tonight at seven pm. We got a full three
to seven show. David Vassel'll be a long previewing General

But James Worthy has brought to you by the twenty
twenty six for f one to fifty from California's best
selling truck brand. It is time to see Ford in
(25:00):
a new light.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
And Matt joining us right now. He's one of our
favorite people to talk to all the time, the Great
James Worthy, and there's a lot to celebrate. The Lakers
are playing great basketball no matter who they got out there,
the emergence of young energetic players. James Worthy was a
(25:22):
young and energetic player, and he's a young and energetic broadcaster.
Emmy Award winning Spectrum Sports net LA, A champion, one
of the best players ever in the history of the NBA.
It is our friend, James Worthy on Pettersen Money. James,
how are you? Thanks for doing it? Welcome to the show.
Speaker 5 (25:39):
Hey man, that's all good, you know, making my way
down to the studio for the big Wenby tonight. So yeah,
things are looking pretty good.
Speaker 2 (25:51):
People excited to see Wemby versus the Lakers. Luca is back.
Are you surprised that the Lakers start and considering who's
in and who's out the way that they've been able
to play and come behind what JJ Reddick is doing.
Speaker 5 (26:08):
You know, with players out and not everybody together. Yet
I did not expect, you know, the record to be
as clean and for them to perform without main ingredients.
I mean you're talking about you know, sugar and a
cake and butter you can't make without and so I thought,
(26:31):
you know, they might not win some of those you know,
a couple of games. But what I what I did
expect and what I picked up in the last year.
And you know with JJ Reddick is he's really good at,
you know, instilling positivity and teamwork and defense. I noticed
on a time out when someone missed an assignment he
(26:53):
was irate, you know, like what he Hayes or somebody
or one of those old coaches from the past. And
I think players respect that. And he's gotten these guys
to buy into defense on the defensive end because that's
the only way they've been able to win. I mean,
they had some great performances from Smith and Rouie in
their last contest and and you know, of course eight
(27:16):
and going back home. So the record, I thought maybe
they have lost a couple more, but the effort and
the synergy and and you know, the guys having that
cohesivenist I did expect that.
Speaker 3 (27:31):
You mentioned Aighton going back home, James, you know, we
talked to you a week ago about him. It just
feels like we're in a little bit of a different
place with Aighton now, sort of what have you seen?
Has there been a big shift? Was it just maybe
a little extra motivation against Portland and the matchup or
is he starting to look like the player that they
had hoped they were gonna get when they signed him
this offseason.
Speaker 5 (27:52):
No, I just remember, you know, my being twenty seven
years old, and other guys you know in the league,
maybe Clyde Drexler, you know, guys like that, Ralph Sampson
even you know, even though we had talent early on,
you started to hone your career around twenty seven twenty eight.
I think he's had enough ups and downs. Great year
in Phoenix with CP three, of course, and then moving
(28:17):
on to Portland not so good. Now he's with a
franchise that even he's been watching his whole life, when
and when and when, and he's at a place where
he kind of has to prove himself. You know, there's
a big man. He's gonna you know, sustain that reputation.
And I give him a lot of credit for coming
in with the right attitude, you know, playing his game.
(28:41):
He's got you know, very special talent from you know,
ten feet. He's blocking shots, he's altering shots, he's set
really good picks that Austin Reid's victory shot would have
never happened if eight and hadn't have Rent up with
full speed set that pick. So I like what I'm
saying at him. And when he gets on the floor
(29:02):
with Luca and he's already connected with Reeves on you know,
the pick and rolls. I can only see it getting better.
And so yeah, I like what I see in Haydon's
good attitude.
Speaker 3 (29:14):
Your former teammate Michael Jordan made some news and the
the NBC debut with Mike Turrico when he talked about,
you know, his feelings about load management and it was
not positive. I'm sure you probably saw it or heard
about it. And last night, six games into the season,
we saw the Clippers list Kawhi Leonard and Bradley Beal
(29:37):
as a d NP rest because they had a back
to back It felt like we were maybe starting to
get away from that a little bit, especially with the
greatest player ever kind of weighing in on it and
saying that's not something you need to do. Just kind
of your thoughts on if you did feel that way
that it was like teams and players were maybe doing
the load management thing less or if it's just gonna
(29:58):
be the way it is, you know, and can he
needs to be moving forward?
Speaker 5 (30:03):
Well, see this is the problem with load management. Okay,
so I'm sure there's a father that probably thought this
early in the season that there's no way that there'd
be any kind of load management and November so you
probably got the tickets for his kids, and now quiet
and it's not going to play, and important players they're
(30:25):
not going to play. I just don't know what the
problem is with this load management thing. I don't like it.
And I know players like Kobe and MJ and you know,
I don't want to go all the way back to
my era, but it's it's your job, you know. And
unless you're in a wheelchair, crippled or something, man, you
(30:47):
got you gotta play. That's what people come to see.
So I don't like it. I know the Lakers set
out Reeves and Luca on their back to back. You know,
it's got to be you know, it's got to be
a real are threatned to your body? So I just
don't and I don't know what why they set out,
but they gotta do something about that though. Man, it's
(31:08):
because it's just easy to come in with a you know,
with a hangnail and say, hey, you know, I don't
want to my finger's hurting. I don't want to play.
It's too easy.
Speaker 2 (31:19):
It's a rough thing to watch, especially with the way
you describe it. Young people come into the arena to
see somebody special. What if they stop scheduling back to backs?
I mean, would that be a solution.
Speaker 5 (31:31):
Well, I mean for me, I think no back to
backs just you know, anyway, I know people want to
see teams in preseason, but a couple of games in preseason,
no travel, you know, even if they're it's a squad games,
I don't know. And then you know short in the season,
(31:52):
you know it's about seventy five, seventy two games, and
then you know, back to back games. And then tell guys, hey, okay,
we know it's not like you're hopping on Eastern airlines
or twa. You got you know, you got the best,
you got the best travel. Uh So, I just don't
get it. It's getting easier and easier for guys to
(32:15):
take load management. And I remember, you know I can
go all the way back to you know, Willis Reed,
you know, hopping around. I didn't play much longer, but
you know, Michael Jordan playing with the flu in Utah,
and you know there's all you know, sometimes if you
can't play, you know, you can't play your knee, your ankle.
But you know, I I played in a game in
(32:37):
Chicago in the first game, first few games, I knew
my ankle wasn't a hundred percent. It was the playoffs.
But I just think, you know, I don't know, it's
it's it's just not something that I like to see.
Speaker 3 (32:51):
The kind of the big news making the way around
the NBA the last two days is this job and
looking happened against the Lakers, right, Just I'd love to
get your input here, James, on just what you saw
from John Morant, the way he was maybe standing around
or not engaged, or how he was playing basketball. And look,
I mean not saying you got to you know who
(33:11):
you need to ship out, but when we saw what
Luka Doncic has done with with guys like Kyrie Irving
and Jalen Brunson, I know that you know, it's it's
there's some serious off the court stuff that you got
to consider. But he's at John Moran's a hag, him
a player. But I think if you could start with
kind of what you saw, because it seemed to be
that was the game that really got this whole thing rolling.
Speaker 5 (33:32):
Yeah, when I was watching the game, you know, I was,
I was, you know, it was I was waiting for
you know, John to kind of like start to take over.
And I and then the first thing I thought was like, okay,
case got to get other people involved. Know, he didn't
have Dylan A. Baine or you know, he still has Jackson,
(33:52):
so maybe he was just trying to you know, get
people to follow. But then as I started to watch it,
I immediately he said we were watching the game in
the conference room. I immediately said, oh man, something's going
on here. This is funky. You know, That's the first
thing I said. And then as I continued to watch,
I said, he's mad about something. And so I don't
(34:17):
like when players do that. You know, regardless of what
the situation is, you never take it out on your
teammates or you never take it out on the game.
There's always a chance to go in the front office
or whatever or going to coach's office and express yourself.
But when you're on the floor, you never and then
(34:37):
you know, to make it worse, I think, you know,
without knowing what was going on, because I don't know,
then they say, you know, just asks the coaches. You know,
if you're willing to have that type of attitude on
the court, you should be willing to be able her,
you know, talk to the press and say what's happening.
(34:58):
And his thing was, you know, go extra coaching staff.
So it was as a team leader, you know what
I mean. I just don't like to see that. And
the guy is supposed to be the face of the team,
and even though they may be going through some changes,
I think that's when you should be most positive.
Speaker 2 (35:18):
Unbelievable stuff from James Worthy before we let you go. James, Uh,
you've seen when Banyama this year you're about to go
do the show? What what whatever you's been been uh
seeing from him? Is it the same thing that you
expected after seeing him last year?
Speaker 5 (35:37):
Uh? He's given He's given us more this year. I
mean he's a seven five Steph Curry with Kobe Bryant agility.
I mean I've never I mean, people tell me about
Wilt and how dominant and great Will was, but and
(35:58):
grill Will was a great passer, you know, but I
can't even find the words to describe what we're witnessing.
And this type of physical you know, freaking nature he's
like a huge giant prayan manches out there just getting busy,
(36:18):
and so he's definitely you know, there's a lot of
guys that have to face the NBA, but I think
this guy's it. He reminds me of Kareem Smart. He
reads all the time, He goes out and hangs out
with you know, spiritual people in the summertime, and he's focused.
So he's on a mission. And when you when you're
(36:38):
that discipline, it's like Austin Reeves a golfer, you know,
plus handicapped. When you have that type of discipline, good things,
you know, come about. So I, you know, I've never
seen it. Ralph Sampson was seven four and he dominated
in college and and you know, played in the NBA
and had some dominance there. He shot, you know, shot
(37:00):
the outside shot, put it on the floor a little bit.
But he's the closest thing I could say, you know
that we've seen. And a guy with that size.
Speaker 3 (37:12):
Gonna be a fun one tonight. Luka Doncic back Wemby
out there, Spurs six and one, Lakers six and two.
James Worthy, our friend get are gonna have all that
coverage from the studio we certainly appreciated. James Worthy brought
to you about twenty twenty six Ford f one fifty.
I heard the turn signals on it there as you
were turning into the lot from the California's best selling
truck brand Hit his time to see Ford hit a
(37:35):
new line. All right, we love it.
Speaker 2 (37:38):
Thank you, James the Great James Worthy. Powerful words from
a powerful man and a great perspective on the load
management situation.
Speaker 3 (37:51):
Hangnail.
Speaker 2 (37:55):
They don't even say that, No, they just flat.
Speaker 3 (37:58):
Out say it. This guy and playing he's tired. Rest.
Speaker 2 (38:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (38:01):
Do they really put rest at the end of the DMP.
Speaker 2 (38:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (38:04):
Yeah, it's a rest.
Speaker 2 (38:06):
Embarrassing And they did it with Luca the other night.
Speaker 3 (38:10):
Yeah, I guess, so I thought it's even Worthy said
shacked up or something. I didn't know it was just
resting him because he's been out, you know, with the injury.
So I didn't realize that was just straight rest. I know,
same thing with Austin Raives. He's just hurt. But uh yeah, man.
Speaker 2 (38:27):
Yeah, we'll be right back with some reaction. There's a
special Dodger Talk tonight and David Vassi will join us
in the very next hour. We have a college football
whip around for later. Thanks for listening. It's Petros and
Money on AM fi seventy LA Sports. You're home of
the back to back World champion Dodgers.
Speaker 4 (38:52):
Hello, PMS listener.
Speaker 1 (38:55):
Did you know AM five seventy LA Sports has a
wide range of LA Sports podcast There's Rogan and Rodney.
Speaker 3 (39:02):
That one is my favorite, Dodger Talk.
Speaker 4 (39:04):
With David Vasse, the Dodger Podcast of record, Clipper Talk
without a Musk, follow us all and many more.
Speaker 1 (39:10):
Just go to AM five to seven e LA Sports
on the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 3 (39:17):
Big thank you to James Worthy. It joins us every
week during the basketball season. Lakers taking on the Spurs tonight.
Clippers with an off night play the Suns tomorrow, so
we'll be on a flex alert from two to five pm.
David Vass will join us in the next hours. He's
got off season hot stove Dodger Talk at seven and
we if you were not aware, On Friday, during the
petrosen Money time slot from three to seven PM, will
(39:40):
be replaying that epic Game seven of the World Series.
Eleven innings culminates with the Dodgers securing their first ever
back to back World Series championships in franchise history. If
you maybe didn't didn't hear it, instead you watched it
on TV and want to hear Rick Monday and Stephen Nelson.
It was a fantastic call full of all the drama
(40:01):
that you already know and would be a great re
listen for you. And that'll be Friday starting at three pm, Matt.
Speaker 2 (40:07):
Do you think when we're at the Cerritos BJS on
Monday that we can like bring a DVD recording of
the game and have it on before Monday Night football
begins or even more importantly the Clipper game. Well, we'll
be there three to six thirty exactly. That's the key
(40:29):
right there. You know, what's what's the best way to
celebrate time spent together going into a Clipper pregame show? Right,
Like I get it at five? Like we can throw
on the Monday night football, right, But do you think
that they'll let us bring a DVD of the Dodger
Game seven and play it for people so they're in
(40:51):
a good mood while we're doing great sports talk.
Speaker 3 (40:53):
It's a great you know. I think the question is
what technology do they have at the Cerritos BJAS restaurant
in brows. Is it VHS, is it Beta Max? Is
it DBD?
Speaker 2 (41:04):
I if I had to do that, they haven't recorded already?
Speaker 3 (41:07):
They could. If not, we could probably order up a
laser disc here real quick. Have it ready to go?
Speaker 2 (41:14):
Well, I think the things that we've been mentioning are
less and less likely to be there. And I'm halfway serious.
Speaker 3 (41:24):
It's not that idea. I mean, what else is going
to be going on at three o'clock? You know? If
as far as local sports.
Speaker 2 (41:31):
Show, some dumbass talking head show on ESPN.
Speaker 3 (41:36):
Yeah, they typically have. I mean NFL Network during the
trade deadline was replaying Monday Night Football the Sauce Gardner
and Quinn Williams get traded, and they have no live programming.
They're running a replay of a game the night prior,
so no reason to have that channel on.
Speaker 2 (41:53):
So MLB network, you know, might show it. They've shown
it a bunch already, But would we make somebody there
record it and play it? Do you think they already
have it recorded?
Speaker 5 (42:04):
Now?
Speaker 3 (42:04):
I believe Petros you know as well as I do,
because we both broadcast games professionally for a living. As
we moonlight from our radio show at the end of
every game. We always read the copyright law, which is
the distribution and replay of this broad cast just prohibited
(42:25):
save licensing permission available from Major League Baseball, NFL, NCAA Football,
all that sort of thing. So I don't know if
we're doing that.
Speaker 2 (42:36):
We can't a watch party at a BJ's.
Speaker 3 (42:39):
I mean, do you remember what it was like growing
up with that VHS that had the FBI warning at
the beginning. It's like, don't you dare record this? Yeah,
don't you dare dub this? The FBI is going to
be knocking down your door. So I don't know if
we're doing that. And all of a sudden, a couple
of white vans pull up with no windows, a bunch
of dudes and masks hop out, and next thing you know,
(43:00):
we're getting hauled off copyright law.
Speaker 2 (43:02):
Yeah, illegal broadcasters, right, just because we play what the
people want. Well, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (43:10):
I think it's a great idea.
Speaker 2 (43:11):
I mean, we're not I don't if we don't promote it,
you know, if we just do it, Yeah, hey, put
the game on right O. That's all we're doing. We're
not like saying, hey when the Dodgers, when Migi rojash
it's a home run. Everybody gets a dollar ninety nine
shot of cure sound.
Speaker 3 (43:31):
I mean, you know we have that Dodger blue bathtub
drink with Alicia Delva.
Speaker 5 (43:36):
What do you think.
Speaker 2 (43:38):
Terrible?
Speaker 3 (43:38):
You still have the headache from it? I believe it's
seriously affect It's a terrible moment. It was terrible, but
it was great. That's what the people want. They want
us to be miserable. They want They didn't want us
to drink and say, hey, that was delicious, let's.
Speaker 2 (43:52):
Get a day. Lease wouldn't post that on the A
M five seventy Twitter because he thought it was too hardcore. Yeah,
it's like, dude, they they sell this at the BJS
that we're at that we're promoting.
Speaker 3 (44:03):
Yeah, there's three of us. It's the equivalent of maybe
three quarters of a shot of essentially sugar water with
a dash of sugar booze.
Speaker 2 (44:13):
But that did happen anyway. Food for thought. If you
want to bring the Laser disc, the VHS, the Beta
Max with the DVD of Game seven, I think if
you have a DVR and you just click it on
right right, and.
Speaker 3 (44:26):
I'm trying to figure out how we're going to feed
it to all their TVs. Like, how do we get
it pumped into their system?
Speaker 2 (44:32):
They have to have it recorded, right, Somebody there at
the Serritos BJS has to go into their DVR, find
a replay of the World Series on Games of Game
seven on MLB Network and click record. That's how I
see this happening, right, and then we make.
Speaker 3 (44:51):
Sure you know you hit the right broadcast, you know,
because you can DVR a lot of things, Like you'd
hate for it to be caligular, And next thing you know,
we're all.
Speaker 2 (44:57):
Yeah, I don't think we have a live caligular at
the BJ's. It's a family restaurant. You want to talk
about getting in trouble, Matt, that could actually get us
in trouble. We're gonna play Caligula up here, so virt
your eyes. I don't think it's a problem.
Speaker 3 (45:24):
No, I think you're right. I think it's the execution.
Can we can we get the technology to find a
way to put all to put it on all those TVs.
Speaker 2 (45:31):
Because we're not rebroadcasting the World Series game MLB network is.
It's their property. We're just playing it on the TVs
there at the BJ's from the DVR and we have
to fast forward through the commercials. Somebody's got to stay
on that.
Speaker 3 (45:47):
Oh, now we're in real trouble.
Speaker 2 (45:48):
That has to be somebody's job, right, Like, there has
to be a fast forward guy.
Speaker 3 (45:55):
How many people you think work here? Petros on KFI?
Like sixty?
Speaker 2 (46:02):
Yeah? Right for us?
Speaker 3 (46:03):
Like maybe we can borrow a couple of them to
make this edit. Throw it on a thumb drive and
bring it down.
Speaker 6 (46:08):
Let me go see they're all just sitting around the bullit.
Speaker 2 (46:10):
Oh thumb drive, Matt Smith, Now that's a horse of
a different color.
Speaker 3 (46:15):
They still got to work on all that Prop fifty coverage.
Speaker 2 (46:17):
Well we'll have television expert Bert or Crag out there too, so.
Speaker 3 (46:21):
Oh, there you go. They'll take care of it.
Speaker 2 (46:31):
More to come patch us some money on AMPHI seventy
LA Sports. We're on till seven
