of right.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
It's been cold.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
Yes, the wind is a whipping especially in the shade
ever stand of the sun. We're good.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
Yeah, when the wind is whipping off the sea.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
We are your gearhead show of record. Happy you would
have been ninety seventh to Anthony Colin Bruce Chapman Lotus.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
Oh, I thought you're gonna be, say Chapman College. You
know around these parts, go Panthers.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
There was a moment when Lotus was the coolest of
cool spy who loved me. You're right, Lotus is Spree
s one that could turn into a sub the James
Bond one of the coolest James Bond cars ever. It
is the car Richard gear is driving his Spree when
he picks up Julia Roberts says, now hooker and pretty
woman because she was, because she was a hooker and
a pair of them. If you remember a black one,

(03:46):
that's right. Anything else just no kissing. There were a
pair of them that would race against one another in
basic instincts, a black one and a white one. The Lotuses.
He's a very smart, dueling saxon right, smart man, one
of the most glorious heads of hair, and a matching
perfectly quapped mustache. Big brain kid passed his exams top

(04:08):
of his class University of London structural Engineering, but decided
to join the air squadron. Left without graduating, turned in
some crazy math paper as a final and they were like, whatever,
here's your degree. You're smarter than everyone anyway, So he
joined the Royal Air Force. He did that for a while,
got back to civilian life and was on the front

(04:29):
end of aluminum. Of course, they say over there, yes,
Aliam and Iam, al you minions replacing steel. So he
made a bunch of money. Nineteen forty eight he made
his own car, the Lotus. He named it after his
then girlfriend Hazel, whom he nicknamed his Lotus Blossom. The

(04:52):
Mark one modified Austin before they became Austin or Aston
Martin that won a big race and with all that
money he developed the Mark two from scratch. He was
a race car guy. He just wanted to build race
cars and race them and win races and dominate. So
there were a lot of a lot of advancements I
should say that changed the way cars were made. Chapman

(05:12):
realized more power could be achieved with better flow, and
this is what we talk about all the time on
the Petros Money Show. He reversed port functions d Siamese
the old inlet ports all the time.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
Every time.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Yeah, manifolds, camshafts, engine out.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Class the opposition. I love the d simas.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
They had to change the rules because he was so fast.
When he did his Lotus Mark seven, it was the car,
absolutely beautiful. Became the model on which all others were designed.
Over ninety different clones of the March seven were made
around the world. He revolutionized that f one was a
driver for a while. A crash put him on the
technical side for good. In fifty six, his smaller, lightweight

(05:51):
mid engine. They weren't mid engine cars until Lotus came around.
Perfect balance, They dusted the Ferraris. The Maseratis handling was superb.
Look up the Lotus twenty five. It is gorgeous, won
their first F one title in sixty three and pretty
much after that won everything. His Lotus thirty eight won
the Indy five one hundred and sixty five. It was
the first mint injin car to do that at the brickyard.
What happened in Lotus, Well, it's funny you ask. His

(06:16):
driver was killed in a crash and that kind of
cut a hole in him a little bit. Jim Clark,
who had dominated the racing world F one titles, fastest laps,
pole positions, eighty five hundred, first four and guy to
win it in forty nine years, he crashed his Lotus
forty eight. So that bummed out Chapman a lot and
he kind of disappeared for a while, and he mentored
a bunch of people. The guys that started Cosworth were

(06:38):
his guys. Cogsworth calls exactly right, but he what happened
to him p He got involved with Delriion, got involved
with the.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
John Delorian, a real Spinali.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
And they say, had had our man Chapman not died
of a heart attack in eighty two, he would have
probably been sent away for about ten years. So but
this is a cool little nugget. As we wrap it up. Posthumously,
they found his plans uh for a new lotus, and
Toyota bought them, and off of those plans, Toyota built

(07:12):
the m R two Nice.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
Beating out the DJ who wears the marshmallow head, he's
called marshmallow.

Speaker 3 (07:21):
Is that what he's called?

Speaker 1 (07:22):
DJ?

Speaker 3 (07:22):
Marshmallow huh?

Speaker 1 (07:23):
Beating here?

Speaker 3 (07:24):
Who's the guy that wears the mouse head?

Speaker 1 (07:26):
Dead mouse five?

Speaker 3 (07:27):
Dead mouse five? Yeah? There we go.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
I don't think you're supposed to say the five.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
It's like, it's just it's supposed to be the yes,
but it's a five. Yeah, yeah, there we go. So
that's just dead mouse?

Speaker 1 (07:37):
Was I wrong? I said dead Mouse five?

Speaker 3 (07:40):
Whatever? Dude, it's not DJ Citizen Jane and she's the
greatest stepper. Okay, that's not true. What about Fighting Spirit
Monday Citizen Jane? What about the guy that played Rango Tango?
Get him, getta David, get a life, get him getta
beating out?

Speaker 1 (07:58):
Marshmallow Head?

Speaker 2 (07:59):
Is Jenny Bergram huh fifty three from Gothenburg, Sweeden, suburban
child dad X ray, technician, mother, homemaker. Three out of
three of the Bregan kids make up three of the
four members of Ace of Bass.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
Oh, here we go. Okay, that's a lot of horns for.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
The Ace of Bass.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
But I did see the sign and it did open
up my mind.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
Come on, there, the three bregrand kids and their close
friend Olf of course makeup of course Ace of Bass.
Jenny was going to be a teacher, but she loved
music so much. Ace of Bass signed with a Danish

(08:53):
record company. They made the band's debut album, which sold
thirty million copies worldwide. That's it, huh, thirty million copies
world one thirty million for I saw the sign and
don't turn around.

Speaker 1 (09:05):
Well, they didn't say they burnied the bass. Ace the base.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
That's right, they hasted.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
Originally, her and her sister Lynn were supposed to have
equal parts, but Jenny out past her.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
She out aister, she out based her.

Speaker 3 (09:19):
Yeah, nobody bases the ace.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
She forgot a turkey, She got her turkey based are out?
It's and uh.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
The band broke up in three and o four and
h Jenny did Christian shows with her husband, who's a pianist.
They recruited some other chicks to reform the band, but
didn't call it Ace of Bass. They called it Ace
of Bass with three periods after Ace, after of and
after bass, Ace of Base, so you could see the

(09:50):
sign open up my mind. Her autobiography sold out in Sweden.
It was never released in English. I wonder why Jenny
and her mother were attacked by a knife wielding criminal
and her mom was stabbed in the hand. Oh my god,
that criminal deported from Sweden back to Germany with you.

Speaker 3 (10:14):
I thought you're gonna say that criminal Bjorn Bjornson.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
No, she wrote about it in her biography that sold out.
It was not Bjorn Bjornson.

Speaker 1 (10:22):
It was a chick.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
She's married to a Swedish pianist and they had a kid,
and uh, they had a secret meeting and the guy
came out of the meeting and they were like, what
did she say?

Speaker 1 (10:34):
They said, all that she wants is another baby. So
they had another one. Yeah, they got two kids. Well done,
Thank you, thank you.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
Nothing Ace is the Base like Ace of Base, not
DJ Magic Mike, not Freaking Them, not David Getta, not
dead Mouse with a five, not Luke from two Live Crew,
not Marshmallow Face, not Terminator X, not Marshmallow Head a
bass Okay, kids, nothing really, even to everybody loved Asa

(11:05):
Bass no doubt. Okay, if Madonna Holiday comes on, all right,
you're gonna have some skeptics. And then you know, even
Flow by Pearl Jam comes on, maybe maybe some of
the chicks aren't into it while all the dudes are
talking about Jeremy Spoken. You know, when that comes on,
maybe the chicks aren'tn't want to pump their fists to
a suicide song. But when Asa Base comes on, Universal,

(11:28):
everybody comes together Universal because of the breagrant.
