The Arizona Diamondbacks in town after theDodgers took three or four from the Cincinnati
Reds. Tim Kates will have Dodgerson deck at six pm. David Bassel
(01:10):
join us in the five o'clock hourand quite the celebrations surrounding the Dodgers.
As it says, we are yourhome of Shohel Tani and the Dodgers after
the game yesterday, a little bitof over celebration maybe for some I'm a
Woyd calling it the greatest moment inthe history of his baseball career. Earlier
today, I'm not going to namenames. Maybe that person said Otani son
(01:32):
like eight times before they said that, Oh no, this guy already won
a World Baseball Classic for his country. Struck out Mike Track, But yes
it is. And I'm a horseMonday and we will gallop torn Otani and
Dodger coverage as the Dodgers take onthe Snakes. Dodgers on deck with Tim
Kates at six at first pitch, everybody knows when that starts at seven,
(01:57):
ten and orderly, Matt, it'stime to throw your sombrero into the sky
because it's a Modello meets a lotof Mondays, going going, going,
going, going, goosing Genos.Do you like Lenny Mary's I do?
(02:17):
It is uh not to meet alot of if it is not made with
MODELO, a reward for those witha fighting spirit. MODELO the mark of
a fighter. Love that our Mondaysare Modella meets you a lot of Mondays.
Remember the petrol some money shows aheadof the curve. We knew that
(02:37):
Modello would rise to the number onebeer brand in America when we signed on.
I think at that point they werelike somewhere around thirty fifth to thirty
seven, and we have carried themall the way up the rankings to number
one. It's amazing. Much likeour run with some other very successful brands
(02:58):
like Brewery X, like Tarantula Hill, Sweet James himself, Balaclavas, we
have ridden Modello to the top likeMatt rides his waves. So believable.
It has been an unbelievable run. We're very proud, proud to be partners.
(03:22):
Mick Cronin. We rode him tothe final four. How do you
know that? Well, it's asimple chronology coach that tro some money.
The best show in town bingo.I's say, you're Matt Well, I
(03:42):
have a TV and I have thefighting spirit hashtag Modelo USA. Please drink
responsibly. So here's what we gotgoing on. We're gonna talk to Assay,
We're gonna do how is your weekend. We're gonna find out if Ronnie
took that vacuum for admitted voyage. That's true, and we are going to
do a top story. We're gonnado a flip top story, and then
(04:06):
we're gonna roll out because the Dodgersplay the d back. What we're not
gonna do is scream at Vic andput him in the holes and yell at
him for his sports opinion, whichI have to say is already. Did
I feel like there was a preyell at him there was a preemptive strike.
Well, it wasn't yelling. Itwas a condescending delivery of a take
(04:30):
that was shared earlier. Well doyou think that that's the right take?
No, but I think to saythat our hands are clean. They are
clean. He's not in the hole. Look at this. This is the
text. Okay, mad if that'swhat you're saying, that's what you're saying.
But here's a couple of textosos.I'll let you know what I deal
(04:51):
with. We're in the prep Zone. Leave Vic in the hole today.
It's not good for any of us. Let him wash sacks at the
Zendome. But we on the twentyfive plus more minutes of Otani son.
See now this this is You canfile this uh into the folder of uh.
I'm gonna sit into a press conference, and I'm gonna ask this question.
(05:13):
You know, some people say thatyou're a bad guy. Now I'm
just asking, but I'm just somepeople. Well, Vic, this is
what the text Thos said. Wellhere's another one. Vic has jumped off
the bronze sack like a cricket thathas back on the show. Hey,
pair, this is becoming comical. He just said the last game single to
win was his best moment ever.Is this a spoof or is his AI
(05:36):
code broken? Oh wow, whenyou get spoofed, when your takes are
considered spoof. Look at my god, Vick is on his way to another
suspension. Back on Otani's Rice Balls, says his single was the seminal moment
of the season, a Sunday gameand a May third three to two win
(06:00):
single. I hate this s It'sthat kind Matt. It's that hyperbole.
You got kind of hyperbole, thatprisoner of the moment, you dial back
to hyperbole. It's like he wearsa one of those ankle monitors in the
moment at all times. Okay,Vic, you want to you want to
defend yourself here. Oh he's fightinghis way. Well, we revel in
(06:26):
Old Tana's game winning hit, andit was his first game winning hit in
a Dodgy uniform. We're aware ofand my he is the best hitter in
baseball currently, Well, he's thinkingwhat three fifties thirteen home? I like
to think probably there's a game winninghit in there sooner or later. Given
the opportunity as the best hitter inbaseball, Well, the opportunity a roles
(06:47):
he met the moment. I mean, what's a bigger surprise that Showy Atani,
a man who's paid basically a billiondollars to play baseball, could hit
a single under pressure, Or thatMatt Liner showed up to catch Reggie Bush's
first pitch. I mean that wasa bit of a shock. I had
no idea he was available and inManhattan beach ready for that call in full
(07:10):
catch of gear. Which was abigger surprise that Otani could hit, or
that Matt Liner would show up likethat to support his friend Reggie Bush,
heisman and heisman. That was aFriday night, A lot of fun on
Friday night. Answer the question, which was a bigger surprise, and Liner
(07:33):
did not bring his heisman, Reggiedid bring hits like a binkie. Well,
I was surprised and filled with gleeto see line catching, Reggie.
I thought it was a lot offun. It's no surprise, it's no
surprise. At there's no surprise Toniis lashing a two O two strike pitch
(07:57):
in the bottom of the tenth fora you know, for a game hit.
Then party. The hyperbole on himmeets a lot of Monday Matt.
Why the hyperbole if it's not asurprise, Matt, I'm let me reiterate
what I said basically by phone callselection year. It's a it's a magical
moment for Otani, first walk off, and we celebrate the moment. That
(08:18):
was my point. But you didn'tcelebrate the moment. You celebrated it by
putting it in context of every hitthat his every game winning hit, every
big moment in every baseball this season, suggesting that this one was the best.
It was a walk off, andI believe it was of course first
of many in a Dodger uniform.Padres had like an eight run bottom of
(08:39):
the night to overcome like a sevento nothing deficit. That's a pretty good
rally, right like that. Thatseems like a game that they probably wouldn't
win. But this second, Idon't want to flog you like this,
Vic, I don't want to takethe celebrating that moment. Why can't we
celebrate the moments because of the hyperpole? I'm not It's not super Sukiyaki over
(09:05):
this. It's how. It's notif we should celebrate them, it's how
we celebrate them. Wasn't that great? A game winning hit? Pay Oscar
through a jug of water in hisface? Everybody was laughing. Wasn't that
fun? If that's gonna be us, we don't. We don't deserve to
enjoy this team winning in October. If we're gonna sit there and stroke ourselves
(09:26):
raw over a single in May,what business did Dodgers and Dodgers fans have
to be excited in October. That'snot acting like you've been there. That's
not Barry Sanders. That's not BarrySanders scoring a touchdown and handed to the
ref. Vic, you're making afull out of all. Don't bring you
go into this. I'm bringing yougoing because she's she is a severe critic
(09:48):
of Otani. Why she always sayswhy seven hundred million dollars? Listen,
he gets pay seven hundred million dollars, he should be producing like this then
while the hot per. I mean, if Austin Barnes hit the game winning
single, we'd be like wow, okay, because it never happens. It
would be great for ball and shewould love to see that. Yes,
but see, let's see the responseyou'd get, you know the thing,
(10:13):
and I would like to see theseven hundred million dollar thing. Yes,
it's an incredible amount of money andhe's supposed to hit. But considering there
was a two and a half hourline outside of Dodger Stadium for a stupid
ass bibblehead, I think it's safeto say it's paying off the seven hundred
million dollars. They're going to getthat money back. Yeah, they got
an advertisements behind home plate, therotation. How many of them are in
(10:33):
Japanese script. I think they're gettingtheir money back. They got a good
deal. They got a good dealof it back from me yesterday, just
merely on concessions exactly. I mean, I was of cost. Now.
I went with Vassay. Not tosound like Boosler here, but I went
with Vassay because I had the kidssecured in their seats, So I walked
(10:56):
with Vassay to get them Dodger dogshad some ICs. Three Icys, three
Dodger dogs. Shamefully, I hadto put ketchup on all three for these
loser kits their children. Though you'reright they're palette, will mature, they
don't know for sure. It wasshameful just to line up like that,
and I almost wanted to explain it, you know, to have people snap
in your photo like Haze Petros,Yeah, exact ketchup on his dog.
(11:22):
And you've got to announce everyone formy kids, say for the kids,
for my kids, not for me. It's like when somebody thinks you farted
yoga. It was just my itwas just my my foot on the mat.
It's when you buy one for yourselfwith mustard and onions and you eat
it as you're putting the ketchup on. Yeah, look look what I'm doing.
What I'm doing? Three Icys, three Dodger dogs, Like I think
(11:43):
was I think it was like fiftyeight or sixty five bucks? Come on,
not kidding, Come on, anicy is like twelve bucks? An
icy? An icy? Can yousit in it as a cold plunge?
No? But the polar Bear isthe icy. The Polar Bear does the
lever I will give him that.Yes, Kate, Matt, you mentioned
the Japanese sponsors as you were talking. The Dodgers just sent out a press
(12:07):
release announcing a new multi year agreementwith so Gi he gone to Ako,
a Tokyo based food provider, willbecome the proud partner of the Dodgers.
They will have concession stands. Thatis unlike any scene in any ballpark.
I can't wait for that. Butto say you're gonna go and check it
(12:28):
out, Meg Listen, I wasgonna ask me if he had the opportunity
to try the octopus balls one ofthe new operas. I'm sorry, they're
delicious. I did see the Japanese, the full on Japanese, like I
want to get a Dodger dog.No. Wait, this is a sushi
place and they got a lot ofKvapon products. Bulls. Yeah weird.
(12:54):
Yeah? Are they balls or bulls? Did you say occupus balls? Bulls?
The delicious? Do you have thethe TV call, Kate's or the
radio call? Why would I havethe TV call, Petroos, We're a
radio station. Well you should haveheard Nelson. I did hear Nelson.
(13:16):
You know Nelson upset me a littlebit. On Friday. Hell, he'll
be on the call the next threenights. You're on the Dodgers audio.
And I'm not going to say thatI was. I like Nelson, we
love it, but he did upsetme a little bit on the call on
UH on Friday. I gotta admit, I got to admit he was calling
the game with our friend Eric Kurs. Is that the one where Walker Buehler
(13:37):
was dealing Saturday? I believe right, Kate's was Walker Buler. Saturday Friday
was Saturday lost. I think, okay, So Saturday Thursdaday lost corrections and
retractions. Saturday, I'm watching thegame, maybe I've had a beer or
two, and Nellie's talking about howgreat Walker Buehler is and how great his
v LO has been, and eventhough he was struggling in his first couple
(14:01):
outings, his VELO was great duringthose outings. And then Eric Carros comes
in. He goes, hey, listen, if you don't have command and
you don't have consistency, you couldtake the vload of the carnival. That's
exactly what he said. And Iwas like, yeah, Caros, take
the vload of the carnival, right. I was like, yeah, put
it on question. I was like, don't you let him sit there and
(14:24):
try to out analyze the analyst talkingabout Vello. And then a couple freaking
pitches later, Nelson comes back andgoes like this, well, I got
a text from Oral about the veloregarding our conversations. Like, so you
just corrected the analyst that's sitting therewith a text from another analyst. Not
(14:46):
okay, I mean Karro's handled thebrand cool. Caros said something to the
effect of, isn't Oral doing ameet and greet tonight and that's why I'm
here. I but like it wouldbe the equivalent of me calling a game,
like being like, yeah, Ireally like this Boise running back.
(15:09):
He's got great you know, greatupfield downhill quickness or something stupid like that,
some football thing, and then they'relike, well, yes, but
I don't think he's very quick thatway. And if I said, well
he is, this is why.And then two plays later, well,
Joel Klad texted it right, It'slike what so he was rolling on the
(15:31):
weekend too, he was rolling, kicking ass. Matt made a Cinderella don't
know what she got till it's gonereference. I mean he was rolling this
weekend. Where did he get that? He's talking about walk up songs?
And they were like, you know, dude, what do you think of
Gavin LUNs And he said something alongthe lines of I don't know, man,
but it ain't don't know what yougot till it's gone by Cinderella.
That's right, Well what is okay? I was like, I thought,
(15:54):
like, you know, knowing howyou know play by play and color guy
stuff works and having done it fora few days decades now are a couple
a couple two tree. I wasinflamed. I don't have Eric Carross's text,
but I would attell I would haveblown him up, just like if
Carrols did that to Oral and Oraldidn't do it, orl was just texting
(16:15):
about ve Loo, but to tryto throw it in Carrols's face after he
told you you could take Vello tothe carnival car you could take Veloa to
the carnival without command and consistency,Matt, And he's absolutely right. You
show what happened to Rick Ankiel tookit out to center field where he was
a carnival. Put a ten onthat guy. He's a circus out there
(16:40):
him so yeah, I was uh, I was taken aback, but I
did want to hear Nellie's call. But if we don't have it, I'll
listen to Everett. Oh, Tonyschwag'space hit right field. Here comes Heyward
around third, he'll scar and theDodgers won it three to two. The
second we an walk off hit forshow hall old Tony, and the show
(17:03):
rolls on at Dodgers Stadium. Why'dyou stop it? I want to hear
the rest of the kates? Whatwas that? Oh? What an afternoon
for the Dodgers. They take threeout of four against the Cincinnati Reds and
raise their record to thirty two andseventeen. A show hail Tony walk off
(17:27):
winter in the bottom of the tempenningand he is being mobbed by his teammates
and deservedly show kissing me. Greatfinal totals on the ball game this afternoon
for the Dodgers, three runs, seven hits, one hour or eight left
for the Reds two runs, sixhits, no errors, and ten men
(17:49):
left on base. Anthony Bonda,in his major in his Dodgers' debut,
gets the win right place, righttime for Bonda. He's one and zero
Alexis Diaz suffers the loss who goesto one and three? They got what
he got? Read Dame was playedin two hours and fifty four minutes in
front of a sellout crowd of fiftytwo thousand, six hundred and fifty six
(18:12):
and scene eighty two seconds. Youcould take that call to the carnival.
I want to hear Nlly, youknow. And I'm always reluctant to be
like, hey, this is whathappened during the broadcast, because then the
play by play guy calls in andit's like, you know, let me
(18:32):
clarify. It's just like, ah, let us do our job. Okay,
you do your job. Now youdon't have it. Did Carrol step
on his call earlier? Because ifCarol stepped on his call, then you
know what he's like, Okay, now I'm come in for you. You
stepped on my call. I wasready to call that error by key K
(18:52):
and you got in there now hereI come. You think it was do
you think it was a retaliation?Eric Carros is a great partner. You
can take that bela to the carnival. If you don't have a command,
if you don't have consistency, letme tell you where you could take Velo
(19:15):
for the carnival and I was like, yeah, Carols clowned him. I
was like, yeah, take that. That's what you get for talking about
that. And then I went onto do something else, you know whatever.
I'm like mixing another drink. Andthen I hear him in regards to
Villo, and I was like, what, all right, here's Nellie's call,
Oh t please hit the field.Tay Ward comes on, the score
(19:41):
plays so stupper indeed, there weget sweet. They both used the show
thing, and then Vassa in hisinterview with shoe Hey said, shoot,
Sun, we have it. Let'sget it all in man, we have
(20:07):
it all. Yeah, we gotit. We on the side. Let's
go we you'relive at Dodger Stadium afterthe Dodgers walking off in the tenth inning
thanks to show Hey o Tani,Show Hey, Sundays at Dodgers Stadium down
two in that count show Hey,how did you stay alive? And obviously
stay within yourself just like good showzero about thinking that just get day he
(20:33):
indictation. Now I was able toreally see the slideer well, so I
think that really helped me to beable to adjust sell out crowd on show.
Hey Sunday at Dodgers Stadium, howdid it feel to have your first
walk off it in that uniform? And heill you kill my day, my
ChIL, how'd you meant to sadnot heap to this? Get my mascott
(21:00):
all amage what? I'm sure I'mgonna have more opportunities to do so,
I'm glad I was able to getone under my wing. Congratulations, Thank
you? Yeah, show him Sundaysgreat questions, that's right, especially how
do you stay within yourself on thecount such control? You know, he's
(21:23):
a great r at the plate aswell. You talk about his hitting,
we talk about his speed, andof course next year he'll be pitching.
But I think great control of theplates. Everybody knows how much we love
and appreciate David Vessey. Are intrepidDodger reporter. What a great job he
does. But and and you know, when you're in the moment, maybe
you're not thinking as clearly. Adrenalineis pumping. I'm standing across with the
(21:44):
most famous athlete in the world. You know, I would ask them,
did the guy have the be lowand not the command and control? Come
on? All right? And don'tyou say anything about the Knicks. They
were an embarrassment, Vic, Andthe coverage on ESPN was an embarrassment.
They were exhausted and they were beatup. Oh whatever, they were beat
(22:08):
up. No. I just lovedthat Halliburton was picking on some fan that
like told him he sucked in thefirst part of the game. He was
like over three and then he startedmaking shots and after everyone he just looked
at that lunkhead. Do I sucknow? Uh? You sucked out a
burden? You suck? All right, we're game. How many points of
steven A I have yesterday? Oh? He was walking around like he had
(22:30):
thirty. I can't take it.I just can't take it anymore. We'll
be back. We have the topstory of the day, the flip,
top story of the day. Topstory of the day is in the five
o'clock hour. And then David Vatssay, the man that interviewed Joey Antani
there will be on in the fouro'clock hour. Vick, we appreciate you.
Have a wonderful night, and we'lltalk to you tomorrow for two mon
(22:51):
killing you guys, feeling you guys, show you. Yeah, this is
like that Stint you know, forlike Mickey Cohen or something for Vic where
he was like between prison sentences.I thought he had quitted himself. Well
he did, okay, he didnot try to push the agenda. He
started the next thing. Well, you open that door. He tried to
(23:14):
kick it in, but you wereable to keep your foot. He was
trying to get like one arm into undo the chain to come out.
I mean, it's crazy. It'slike it's been documented all over the place
now because it's like you asked somebodyabout the Pacers and the answer about the
Knicks, and it's like, geez, I just don't I can't figure out
how a thirty or whatever he istwenty five thirty year vet from that program,
(23:37):
arguably the face of ESPN is stillplaying the My Knicks card. My
Knicks, Yeah, my Knicks. It's been thirty years, dude. You've
been on ESPN interview a number ofplayers, you're friends with, coaches,
analysts, and it's still my Knicks. Really, my boy had to run
across three lanes. We'll be backwith more. Thanks for being with it
(24:00):
is the original. Today is ourfirst day given away. Ten Las Vegas
trips in ten days, ten weeksMonday through Friday, this week, Monday
through Friday next week. Today, between now and the end of our show
(24:22):
at six pm, we will call. We'll solicit for your call, and
it is your chance to win atwo night's day at the Fontaine Blue,
Las Vegas, brand new, justopen, sixty seven story luxury resort on
the Las Vegas Strip. Dine poolside at the Oasis pool deck, a
six acre pool with four bars. Not to mention, we're gonna get you
two tickets to a show at BlueLive Theater. Very excited about this,
(24:42):
So starting today between now and sixpm, chance for you to win that
our first of ten. All right, Matt, we'll do a top story
of the day. Top. Iwent to the Dodger game yesterday, which
is a big news because I barelygo anywhere, and I went yesterday to
(25:04):
take in no suite, Matt, which is how we usually roll top of
the world if we're at the Dodger. No, my dad's tickets are good,
very good tickets. He shares themwith my old dentist, doctor Martin,
and I had no credentials, nosuite. I was only armed with
(25:25):
my father's tickets. No Dave Weeseto protect me. I had the tickets,
and I had parking, and asyou know, Matt, traveling anywhere
is not my strong suit. Ibrought my son Fletcher, so you let
him drive. Not yet the driveassist is now on the Toyota Tacoma is
(25:47):
not that advanced yet. His friendOllie and my daughter Calli, so me
and three precocious children, well twoand Olive and I got there a little
late, but I was only liketen minutes late, like first pictures at
one ten and I got there likeone twe were you fighting? It was
it wearing you down? Were thekids like? Why are we stuck in
(26:07):
this trap? Was it? That'sall an entrance? Or my short cut
is not a short cut? Youknow? There is a deep entitlement to
showing up four hours early and leavingan hour right before the game even started,
no traveling. So it's almost like, oh my god, there's people
at the game right. What areall these people doing here? Exactly why
are they here? Don't they knowthat I'm trying to get to the game
(26:30):
set. But I made no Therewas okay. I got a little impatient,
but I was it was overall,it was okay, and I'm here.
You know, I'm very anxious inperson, so I'm here to report
on the game day experience. Andit was fabulous. They got a whole
new Japanese vibe. As we talkedabout with Victor Brick. Why is that
(26:53):
I just decided to pull that offin twenty teen, or like va,
let's see if this works ka Vivahapaal. And when Tony gets up,
it is amazing. You know, when you're in the crowd to see everybody
phones meant most of Japanese people ofJapanese heritage just shooting the whole thing on
their phone. Yeah. Now,David vass came almost immediately to the seats
(27:18):
when I got there and started harassingmy son for being a long and well
documented Max Munsey fan. He harrisedFletcher because I didn't know months I forgot
that Munsey went on the il andFletcher had his Munzie jersey on. We
did, and vass As goes like, why are you wearing that? He
was swimming for the fences and blewhis old blake and nose on the isle,
(27:42):
harassing a child, and then heattacked us in the post game.
He attacked us twice in the postgame. Here's Dave in the postgame.
Uh in Dodger in the Dodgers what'sit called clubhouse? That's the one that's
still part of the national broadcast onthe in the geo fence. You can
(28:03):
get Dodger talk from anywhere. Here'sDave in the national post game. He's
playing third base with Max Munsey onthe injured list. To the disappointment of
Fletcher Papadakis, who was in thehouse today with his dad and brother and
best friend Oliver, wearing his Mounsiejersey, I had to break the news
to him that months he's on theil with an oblique injury. You think
(28:26):
his dad would brace him for that. So bad parenting, I think is
what I take away from that.Fletcher does not have a brother. It
was my daughter Calli, and Daveknows that and he corrected it. Dave
corrected it in the in the DodgerTalk part of the postgame. Ben also,
like I said earlier, great tosee Petros Papa Dakas show up to
(28:48):
a Dodger game. He was doingdaddy daycare today, had his son,
Fletcher had his daughter Calli and bestfriend Oliver with them. Very polite kid,
Oliver, Oliver, I don't know. I would take over the papadagas
kids for sure after what I sawtoday. Anyway, thanks for listening,
kids from New Zealand. He doesn'tknow anybody. I didn't know. Dave
(29:11):
was forced to pick a child.Yeah, I don't know why they're has
to day pick for kids at thegame in front of the kids, pick
in front of them. Luckily, the people that had the seats in front
of us showed up and Dave hada lee. We had a nice time.
A couple of families said hello andwere listeners and uh. While I
was standing outside the ladies room waitingfor Cali and I met the guy who
(29:34):
threw out the first pitch, ReggieBush. That was Friday and the Dodgers
lost. But it is interesting.Fletcher asked me on the way up while
we were in traffic, like, who's thrown out the first pitch? And
I said, well, Landon Knackis pitching and Hunter Green from Notre Dame
High. And he's like, no, no, you know the ceremonial first
(29:55):
pitch. And I was like,I have no idea and we're gonna miss
it anyway. And then I wasstanding there in front of the Japanese place,
and a guy came up to meand handed me his card and told
me I threw out the first pitchfor no reason. Shannon B. Williams
solicited unsolicited head baseball coach and kinesiologyprofessor at Compton College. Let's go come
(30:22):
so a shout out to coach andhe said he threw a good pitch and
he wanted me to know that andwanted us to know on the show.
How about that it was teacher appreciationDay yesterday. Yeah. And then another
guy, the guy they brought out, the Vietnam Vet guy who was also
a teacher. I had no idea. As a guy I've known my entire
life almost mister Murski, who's aVietnam Vet, and I knew he was
(30:45):
in Nam. I didn't know theywere honoring it. And he's a long
time a palas Verni School district guy. So they honored mister Merski there right
on the third baseline. I guesswhat's that the third inning? And everybody
had a great time with that, and people were very nice. There was
no like giant royal rumble fist fightlike you see at pet Co. I'm
(31:07):
sure it happens Matt at the topof the world or something. I didn't
see it. I had you carriedon the tradition of your old man by
getting a nun and punching someone inthe back of the head the whole game.
Maybe you could have got something nowthat was in the pavilion, back
when my dad was trying to toughenus up and trying to get us in
a fight. But it was areally nice time at Dodger Stadium. And
answer your question, The answer isno, I did not stay for the
(31:30):
walk off. I did my standardbecause the game. If the kids pushed
on you leaving early, no,they did because I did my standard.
I'll buy you something if we leaveright now, bottom of the eighth let's
get out of here. And whatyou that set you back? I don't
want to talk about Okay, I'lltalk about it. The boys wanted hats,
(31:53):
so the boys and I tried tosteer them towards the snapbacks, but
they weren't having it matter. Ohfitted hat, So two fitted hats at
Dodger Stadium. My daughter wanted alike a YETI kind of thing. That
was the most egregious they got. They got me for forty four bucks on
the YETI well, like a likea Stanley, like one of the cups,
(32:14):
the yeah cop that a pink cupthat says Dodger gotcha. Forty four
dollars seems a little stiff, youknow, Matt, They just they really
and I and and how was thetraffic getting out? Was it worth it?
Oh? Matt, it was likea dream. There we go.
I was able to drive the kidsdown Broadway and show them all the beat
up buildings. So instead of stayingfor the show they walk off and sitting
(32:37):
in traffic. You decided to takehim on a tour of downtown Los Angeles,
particularly to beat up buildings of Broadway. Yes, I showed him the
Orpheum, the Los Angeles Theater, the Ikarly Building. It was glorious.
How do you think they were? They recept him to that. They were
fine. Okay, Fletcher was gettingNancy. They took a walk. You
know, I had to let himtake a walk. You know, they
(32:58):
got at Lancey sitting there even thoughthe game it goes pretty fast. Yeah,
yeah, either you're gonna pump himfull of sweets or you're gonna let
them walk around a little bit.Well, I already pumped him in with
that fifteen dollar icy right, No, I did not stay for the kids
run the bases. Well, lookthey do eighty one of them here,
(33:20):
so still many more opportunities for Fletcherto wear his Muncie jersey while Max Munsey
is on the field, for youto get there early enough to see who
is throwing out the first pitch.Fletcher was also excited, you know,
because he's been catching to watch WillSmith. And he was also disappointed to
find that it was an Austin Barnesday. Ooh, and Austin Barnes had
(33:40):
a terrible error. Seems to bepar for the course these days. And
Freddy Freeman's lazy that he won't justleg it out to first. He's got
to flip it to the pitcher everytime, and it's almost a circus every
time. Well things you notice whenyou you know, sit there, especially
if there's nobody there when the picturegoes to throw it over and deet a
(34:02):
rule is still the best thing aboutthe Dodger Stadium entertainment. Close second is
the pahrd lights. They do.Those guys, those two guys, they
do an unbelievable job with the gameentertainment period. And because of the organ,
and because they lean on the organ, the rock and roll and the
(34:24):
pieopa or whatever that is, youknow, all the other stuff they play,
the reggaeton, it's all uh,it's a lot more palpable because they
mix enough organ in there. Soshout out to Uncle Lawn. So there's
my assessment, Matt, of theoverall product. It's expensive, nice afternoon
(34:45):
at Dodger Stadium. It's a selloutthough it's expensive, but it's a sellout.
It's a great product that people arewilling to pay top dollar for top
dollar, top dollar with the goldflee collar. And if you want to
get out early, wipe you outa buck fifty in your pocket, top
of the eighth. Take it tothis, Matt. I was gonna get
hit. You know, there's areason that store is right at the exit.
(35:07):
You know. I was gonna gethit at the store in the chest,
no matter what. And I mightas well get hit in the chest
and drive home peacefully down Broadway andshow the kids the hoboes, then sit
there in traffic with my chest allcaved in. Very true. All right,
we'll be back with mar How wasyour weekend, Mat? You know,
(35:32):
I'm just thinking about like Miss Dingersor people like that, Matt,
that are like at the stadium everynight. I mean, how much money
do you blow on a homestand justeating a hot dog? Well, I
think we all choose to use ourdiscretionary income in different ways. And there
suspent a Dodger stadium every night, right when you live in a place like
(35:55):
that, you know, Matt,it's like living in Monaco. I wonder
if it's more expensive to live inMonocle, like just for the day to
day eating and stuff or Dodger Stadium. Oh that's a good question, right,
I'd like to see that. Thatis a good question. I mean,
what sixty bucks for three icyason threedogs? Yeah, but I didn't
even tell you about the meat thatI had. Oh that's a that's a
(36:16):
horse of a different color. It'sa Oh that'll beach a lot of Monday,
you bet your I saw a womangetting an estraya Jalisco MODELO in front
of me, and I was like, that sucks. Mala mouhare right there
a mole that meets a lot ofMonday on the Petrosen money shows what we're
celebrating. It's not a real meatif it's not made with a Modello brout
(36:39):
with a fighting spirit modelo a markup a fighter. All Right, it
is Monday, so I'm gonna dowhat I do. The weekend is mine.
So your how was your weekend?Matt Uh? My wife's birthday Friday.
So Friday night, took the familyout to the boat house. Kids
went home, grown ups went overto Patty's place and it was closing down
(37:01):
and does a bang up job.Behind the bar, there were a few
groups left. There was a gentlemanwho was from India and repeatedly told us
that who was a software engineer?Cool that was screaming across the bar that
time travel is going to be possiblewithin twenty years. Was he with Frank
Stallone? He was not. Andthere was a gentleman at the corner of
the bar that was telling us thisguy doesn't know what he's talking about.
(37:22):
I'm a physicist, and you needto figure out what absolute zero is before
we have any chance of time travel. Well you know you don't. Yeah,
it's like that's not what I thoughtI'd run into it. The seal
beach here here, you know, usually, what are we doing here?
Guys. Saturday, grabbed the bikes, went on a long ride with Peyton.
Preston had a Nashville on the Coastperformance at the Seal Beach Park at
(37:44):
eleven. Nashville's not even on thecoast. Exac's what I said. I
was like, what are we doinghere? And we relocated Nashville of the
park. Apparently Lucky Jack played Mothers. Went over there around three, watched
the Preakness. More on that inthe number of the day. Post show,
drinking over at Kenny's and it passedout because I had too much to
drink at Kenny's. Yeah, thisis a drunk shoe. It is adunk
(38:07):
show. It was a drunk show. But I brought the kids with me.
Peyton and Parker and Mikey all camedown to Kenny's and yes, I
was like, Wow, had waytoo much. Your old man's got to
walk home and go to bed.Uh So at least you didn't pass out
at kenny No, Like, where'sdad, He's in He's on the couch,
He's like Lebron on the floor.Took Peyton to l a X early
(38:29):
she she flew home, did nottake the one O five to Sepulvida.
Instead, I took century to arrivalsand that was very easy. Oh well,
that's a that's a dig at,you ks ca. That's a dig
at. You surfed in the aM with the old guys. Hit up
the Seal Beach Grill with Mark andTommy and Kathy and the wife, got
all three going. Nick's losing whichwas great, the Doctor's extra innings win
(38:51):
which was great, and then theXander Schoffley winning the the PGA. I
mentioned that a great place, bythe way, the Seal Beach Grill,
best wings around. There was acrew from San Pedro there that had some
They all were wearing San Pedro shirtsand they were driving classic Chevyes. That's
how you know that they're from SanPete exactly. They had these bell airs
like fifty six fifty seven. Yes, I know that they collect over at
(39:15):
kind of over by Point Furman, the low riders, and they either drive
north or south. Yeah, theyjust hits the road on Pesale del mar
fell into the sea. There's reallyno way to go north from there,
so to the south, south ofsouth. It was okay, Kate.
Friday night, after the show andafter Dodger pregame walked. I didn't walk,
(39:37):
I actually drove. But it's liketwo blocks away over to Bruce Brothers,
the old Simsey's here in Burbank, right kind of down the street,
like two blocks across the street fromus, And had a couple of beers
there, and met my friend misterEverett to have a couple of drinks because
the wives were having a card nightwith some other wives. And ordered a
bar Hill blonde which was very tastyfrom the Bruce Brothers hub over there in
(40:00):
Burbank, but that it used tobe the Simsies. Yeah. So I
just said things tenouts drinks, tenounds drinks, guys, little beers that
are ten ounces, okay, AndI thought to myself, this is weird.
Maybe I got like the sample one, but apparently they serve these in
ten ounce drink. I guess you'renursing it, kates. You get a
ten ounce there, you don't drinkfast. So three beers later, I'm
(40:22):
like feeling pretty good. They're alittle ten ounces thirs eight and a half
you know, percent alcohol, andI'm like nine dollars little things of beers.
It was interesting, little tiny littlebeers. I've never seen a little
at a little overpriced. Yeah, just I'm happy to support. Saturday,
didn't do much, feel your catback. Had Dodgers. That was about
(40:43):
it. On Sunday, went andgot Dino's for dinner for the family.
So had the lasagna pizza which weall enjoy here at the stage. Stuff
and uh yeah, watched a littleTV. Wrapped up the show Sugar which
Petros you you told me about onApple TV, which is really good.
So finished off. So there yougo. That's my weekend, all right,
Ronnie, had a nice weekend.Saturday, I took my car and
(41:06):
for an oil change, did alittle grocery shopping. I also gathered my
bulky items, just like you did, Petros, for a trash collection,
a bulky item trash collection that's takingplace tomorrow in my neighborhood. Saturday night,
my wife and I went out todinner at Bjy's for dinner. Watched
the Dodgers on that big screen TVin the bar area there at the BJS
and Burbank. On Sunday, stayat home and did stuff around the house.
(41:30):
And yes, I did break outthe brand new vacuum cleaner. I
vacuumed away like nobody's business. Iwas a vacuuming fool. Did you break
a bottle of move on it beforeyou started moving it around like a ship,
or did you just go go totown? I just went to town.
I went to town and it wasvery therapeutic. I love vacuuming,
(41:50):
I really do. Gives me achance to collect my thoughts. Anyway,
loved the new Shark stratus six easypayments of forty four to ninety five well
worth every sing. And that wasmy weekend. What about you, petros
Well? I told you that Iwent to the Dodger game yesterday. But
on Friday night, Mike Grannis,my friend, the real estate dad,
(42:14):
came over to have a drink andtry to convince me to get tickets to
the Sphere again for another show.Press huh, Well, you know when
you when you don't go to theGrateful Dead show, which I've only been
to one in my life, Ithink. And then he sent or it's
not the Great Dead End Company,of course, and he sends a text
like here was the set list wemissed. Look at what they started with.
(42:37):
Why didn't he go? I don'tknow, I don't know. But
now he's trying to circle back anddo more. But anyway, he was
here, and then Saturday I wentto yoga, I walked around. I
don't know, I don't do anything. What did I I don't I don't
remember. I just drive the kidsaround. That's what I do. And
(42:57):
I watched Yeah Sunday, there yougo. That's the centerpiece of the weekend.
Yes, that's a lot for me. You know, for most people
that's just you know nothing. It'sfour hour coming off the il and asking
you to throw a hundred and fiftypitches. Correct, No, you got
to dodg your game on Sunday. You can't be expected to do anything on
Saturday. We couldn't. And Iobviously am not a dynamic person. So
(43:23):
that was my weekend. Oh bulktrash. Oh wait a minute, kill
the music for a second. Bulktrash. So I told you. Fletcher
went around the neighborhood and collected morebulk trash that he tried to use up
at the field beyond the ping pongtable, beat ping pong table and two
giant TVs that were shattered and oneof them weighed like fifty pounds, And
(43:47):
he was like, I got caringup at the field and they made me
take it. The I was like, yeah, because you can't bring giant
bulk trash to a park. Sothen it was in my yard and the
bulk trash people came. They wouldn'ttake the pinball machine. They took the
ping pong table that wasn't even mine, and they left two giant TVs,
Matt. They left the TVs,so now I had electronics, yes,
(44:10):
two, but they were supposed totake that, it said, but they
left it because they were a holesand it was at their discretion. And
now there's two shattered TVs. Myson's really the a hole here, and
there's glass in my driveway and I'mlivid, right, so I pick up
the TV's. I put them inthe back of the Tacoma and I go
scope the elementary school next door, which has an open dumpster. Oh no,
(44:31):
and I roll real slow, Matt, and I parked in front of
the dumpster, and there was aLittle League game going on, so everybody's
distracted, you know, everybody's backis to me. And then over my
shoulder in the Tacoma, I sawthe camera, the ring camera whatever,
big ass one eye in the sky, and I was like nope, And
(44:52):
then I called my dad, Ye, CCTV. You can't do that,
CCTV. Then I called my dadand I said, do you know of
a dumpster? And he said thereis one behind my racket club and it
is always open, and no onewas there, and I was like,
okay, I'm going to take itover there to your racquetball club. And
then mister Mario showed up and hesaid he'd take him off my hands.
Oh, thank you, mister Mario. You could have gone to jail.
(45:15):
And it's all because of punk assFledge. Yeah. Yeah, you can't
be dumping electronics and non electronic dumps. Oh, I do anything to get
rid of it. That's what theydo in Japan, Matt. They don't.
They don't. They don't separate theirtrash out. It's all just one
big trash can. And you seehow well Japan's doing. Look at show.
Hey, ah, cleanest country onEarth right. That's because they throw
(45:37):
everything away at once, and maybethey don't collect as much junk as we
Americans do. Okay, we'll beback with your word number and song of
the day. Don't let Kates takemy money, Matt. I'll hold on
to it. I would never trusthim with it. What money. Oh,
(46:00):
you'll find out. We'll be back.
