is full and I'm gonna ride the mechanical bull told
me use I want to be a cowboy. Petros some
Money A five seventy ELA Sports live everywhere on the
(01:04):
iHeartRadio app. He is out, Check is in. We certainly
appreciate Dave Damascheck helping us out today. Tomorrow Petros will
be out as well. It is a modello meach you
a lot of Monday. It is not a real meet
a lot of it is not made with a Modello
reward for those with the fighting spirit, just like DJ
Citizen Jane, just like Mister Cartoon, just like Philly Barber,
King Garcia, Dame Lillard, and all the others that appreciate Modello,
(01:27):
but none of them or on Modello as early as
the Petros and Money Show. Hence their assent to the
number one consumed beer and all of the US of
A even on a Fourth of July weekend, group of
Modelo reigned supreme courtesy of us. Right here, Modello meets
you a lot of Monday, and that's what they'll be
porn at September's tap Room in Eatery and Rancho Cucamonga
(01:48):
when we are out there this Friday. Set your schedules
three to six pm, second stop, second stop of six
and we're making our way back out to the Kouk.
Love it out there the land Empire Freeway adjacent right
off the two ten at Haven Avenue and confirmed we
mentioned it made the big announcement. It is now official.
Joe Kelly will join us from three until three point
(02:12):
thirty pm straight out the gate. All the drinking food specials,
including Modellos, including surfside vodka and iced tea, all the
great prizes. Normally there's a musical accompaniment to this, but
our boss has decided to sabotage the show by going
into the other studio and talking to these guys. So
Kate's forgot to fire off the music because I've been
(02:33):
talking about our torch stop for three minutes. Thank you.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
Oh and as we determined earlier, how many medellos can
Joe Kelly.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
That's the plan. It is Joe in thirty minutes. It
is Joe Kelly Bobblehead Night at the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes,
and we are giving away a pair of tickets, premium
sea eats to this minor league affiliate of the Dodgers. Okay,
these are not some fly by night seats you're gonna
be sitting on along with a blanket, getting the serrated
(03:07):
edges of grass cutting your legs up. No premium seats
is what I've been told for Joe Kelly Bobblehead Night,
and he's gonna join us. Friend and the dugout next
to Joe Kelly. You know, I wouldn't surprise me. It
could be as a minor game. You never know. Kate's
how premium are these seats?
Speaker 3 (03:23):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (03:23):
They are club box seats. Is when I'm told, okay,
club box, that sounds pretty important to me. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (03:28):
By the way, we do have some Dodger news. David
vas will be all with you guys in about fifteen minutes.
But with the Dodgers in Milwaukee, Tascar, Hernandez, Tommy Edmond
are with the team, but it appears Kek Hernandez could
be going on the IL he is not with the team, okay,
and j Alman has been seen inside okay clubhouse.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Well, let's see if Altman can take a page from
Pages as you like to call him and resurrect that
once budding rookie campaign. Thank you, Kate. David Vassi will
jon us to the next secondent.
Speaker 3 (03:59):
I mean, I'm but by far, I mean exponentially more talent,
exponentially more talent than probably second place in the big leagues.
But now it becomes a question of attrition with these Dodgers, right,
I mean, it's basically if everybody understands they are the
dominant force. Maybe you know in the on the short
list top three most loaded up teams that ever exist,
(04:20):
ever seen, And now.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
I believe they'll be fourteen and fifteen if well, Kyk's
number fourteen? KS? Is that right? Was it at thirteen?
He's not paying attention. It's Kyk was thirteen. I believe
tay Oscar would be fourteen, Edmond would be fifteen on
the IL and we have not hit July eighth yet.
That's a little crazy.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
It is wild. Yeah, it's the only thing that's kept
them close to the planet Earth. That feels like they
still are the best team.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
Yeah, they're still the best. So where was I?
Speaker 6 (04:50):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (04:50):
Yes, Joe Kelly giving away Dodger tickets, the Rancho Cucamugga
Quate club box, seats, a fifty five inch westing House TV,
a two net getaway to the MGM Resort in Vegas,
and of course qualify to win that five thousand dollars price.
All of that happening without music at the September's tap
room and eatery and rat show could come on. Are
(05:10):
you watching them? It's like the show doesn't exist. I
don't know what it is about bosses at radio stations
they like not sabotage the show.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
I think it's more about Kate's really, to be honest
with you. It's his true colors coming out, like, Oh,
I got to impress the boss man, you know, like, Oh,
I'm gonna you know, brown nose a little bit.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
We've literally been talking about them for four minutes and
they have They're not listening to the show us.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
You're so fun look at them laughing. Not anything that
we have to say. No, no, do you have the
word of the day. I do.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
I'm just gonna move on.
Speaker 7 (05:43):
The word of the day.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
Word of the day is creep.
Speaker 4 (05:50):
Now.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
It's right, not shoot your blasters at them. It's oh,
now you're looking at us after three minutes of us
talking about your in the other is the word of
the day. Wh I'm listening now, Yeah, y' are the silence, stunt,
silence and disappointment is what you're listening to.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
I'm not angry, Tim disappointed?
Speaker 2 (06:13):
Yeah, thank you sick give it to.
Speaker 3 (06:15):
Him, all right. The word of the day is a race.
I wish I could erase the last ninety seconds some
my respect for Tim Kates could return to its normal levels.
In the meantime, could Cardi b and Patriots wide receiver
Stefan Diggs's recent relationship already be a thing of the past.
Over the weekend, Cardi B took to Instagram and erased
(06:36):
all of her photos with Diggs. Then we see the
video for Memorial Day and right, this isn't a big shocker,
is this? The couple just became a thing back over
Memorial Day weekend? There you go with the videos at
the yacht party, those went viral. They were spotted at
a Knickerbocker's playoff game last month. They recently went to
France on vacation and made their relationship insta with photos
(07:01):
and videos. Anytime somebody scrubs pictures of somebody else off
social media, that usually means a breakup. We'll see if
Cardi B and Stefan Diggs have indeed broken up or
if this is simply her archiving her photos to make
room for her upcoming album that comes out in September.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
Ah, what do you think?
Speaker 3 (07:19):
Do you care?
Speaker 4 (07:20):
Well?
Speaker 2 (07:20):
It seemed like Carti was all right with the ladies
on the yacht because she was just kind of shaking
her ass in the background.
Speaker 8 (07:26):
Right.
Speaker 3 (07:26):
If she were going to dump him over that, that
would have happened within the day's following. They don't go
to France and then it hits her after the.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
Fact he's got the pink coke, you know that he's
offering the ladies allegedly, and she seemed to be all
right with it, doing her thing, you know, like right
next to him. So I don't know. That's a great
it's a great question. Great question you post. Is she
archiving photos for upcoming album or is she deleting him
out of her life and offer social media channels.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
Carti b and Stefan Diggs. I don't know if they're
gonna make it for the long haul.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
I'll skip the number of that. Do that.
Speaker 3 (08:00):
Here's my number number of the This is an important.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
The number of the day is fifteen, a little over
a week from now, July fifteenth, a place we're very
familiar with because we used to regularly find our way
out there. It's actually how we made our connection with
Steve Van Dorn and Coach Roach, the bray them all.
We go out to the Brea Bechase. But Brea is
going to open the first Southern California Chuck's Arcade, tenth
(08:26):
location nationally, but the first in Southern California. The last
ditch effort to save Chuck E Cheese. Chuck's Arcade is
for adults retro all the classics. They're gonna they're gonna
put the Miss pac Man and the Galaga and the
after Burner and the Outrun and all of those games.
And I did this because I saw in the list
(08:48):
with Donkey Kong and all of that was Connect four
Hoops is another one of the games. It's not Papa Shot.
It's got the four baskets and you got to play
Connect four while you're doing the Popper.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
I don't care for that version. I know you fancy
yourself a hell of a Connect four player. I can't
see anything. I know I am a hell of a
Connect four player. And that's that period, not some subjective
opinion I have on the subject.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
May that be correct.
Speaker 3 (09:13):
I won three, not one, not two, three straight Connect
four titles in the mid nineties in Chicago, playing.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
This a public, a public tournament.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
I mean this public is me discussing. It was my
pals and we were playing against one another. Steaks were
the same for all of us, and I won three
times in a row.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
The folks over at Chuck E Cheese say, Chuck's Arcade
are going to make sure the animatronic characters are still there.
Munches make believe band will still be there. They will
serve beer and wine, and they're also going to still
have the prize thing.
Speaker 3 (09:51):
Just what's going to ask how many people aren't going
to be aware of how many grown ups aren't going
to be aware of this update? And they bring their
kids and the booze is all now flowing right, and
do the kids get it sideways and think that that's
what they're supposed to do.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
They take on southern California, after Kansas City, Alpaso, Texas,
Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Saint Pete down there in Florida, Buford, Georgia,
two locations in New Hampshire, and now Brea, California. We're
gonna have dig Doug Jows. I saw dig Doug on
the video. I saw Tempest on the video of them
going through. They'll probably have Joust.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
Burger time.
Speaker 2 (10:29):
I would guess.
Speaker 3 (10:29):
Burger time is an underrate underran. You make a burger
for the kids who don't know.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
Now, you get the layers their bottom bun burger.
Speaker 3 (10:36):
But the light, the pickles especially, they don't want you
to make the burger. I don't know what that what?
Speaker 2 (10:41):
Remember how you fended off the enemies?
Speaker 3 (10:43):
You ran underneath the bun or the lattice or the burger,
and then it would drop the people to the pickles
or whoever in the salt and pepper.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
That that was the key. You could get the Sultan
pepper to ward them off right like that. That was
like the way you could ward them off was with
the saltan up all right, David Vessie is gonna join
U Sex running.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
This is the song of the day.
Speaker 6 (11:05):
Yeah. Rows of the West are an indie rock band
from Milwaukee, Wisconsin with our song of the day called
Rhodes because the Petros and Money show is back behind
the reins with Dave Damashek filling in for petro Son
and I'm a Horse Modello meets you a lot of Monday,
fueled by that fighting spirit, rapidly galloping through a flex
(11:29):
alert where all roads lead to Dodger Baseball in Beer
City Milwaukee and a take on the Brewers which means
our good friend Tim Cats will be along with your
Morongo Casino Dodgers on deck show that begins at three
point thirty.
Speaker 2 (11:44):
Thank you running. David Vessie out in Milwaukee. Scene of
the crime. Oh crap oh, crap oh crap. He is
back as the Dodgers take on the Brewers. She'll join
us next.
Speaker 1 (12:06):

Speaker 3 (12:50):
The Home of the Jets.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
With an inside look at the Dodgers, this is the
Vass Report with David.
Speaker 4 (13:00):
Let's say, all.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
Right, Dave, let's get to the immediate news, which is
apparently there's news in the immediate and that is the
Dodgers are making some moves right now what do we got.
Speaker 7 (13:09):
Yeah, Key k Hernandez has been placed on the injured
list with left elbow inflammation. It was bothering him on
the last homestand it's more about him not being able
to swing the bat the way he normally would because
of that elbow issue. So he's been officially placed on
the IL. And Petros and John Papadakis's favorite son, James Autman,
(13:34):
has been recalled. That's right, the Call of the Wild
is back in Milwaukee. James Autman has had some sorts
of resurgence at Triple A. He has twenty home runs
sitting two eighty nine. So we'll see whether or not
that translates in the big leagues.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
Hey, David vasse is your old pal, Dave Damashek. We
were talking about how low this show has been around.
I remember when David Vassay was produced for that show
oh so long ago, called.
Speaker 2 (14:07):
That era BC before Kate's.
Speaker 3 (14:09):
He he and I once did a show when you
and Petros were both out. As Essay and I once
did a show.
Speaker 8 (14:16):
Was that.
Speaker 3 (14:16):
I thought it was great? Apparently he thought.
Speaker 8 (14:18):
Of it was.
Speaker 7 (14:19):
I thought it was great. He had a great time together.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
Decided to run off the Chavez ravine and make new friends.
It seems to be thriving. Here's what I'm curious about, Vassay.
The Dodgers. They get embarrassed by the Astros, and the
the bats have gone quiet. The MVP bats have gone
quiet collectively. I always you know, the fans can wring
their hands all they want. What's it like in the
(14:43):
clubhouse right now? What's the concern level? It's just barely July.
They're the most loaded team ever. Aside from the pressure
of we're supposed to win, is there any sense of, man,
we got to turn this thing around. It's like we're
the world champs. It's just July se down everybody.
Speaker 7 (15:01):
Yeah, turn what around. They have the best record in baseball.
They have the best record in the National League right now,
even after being swept by the Astros, which obviously brought
the Dodgers back to some sort of reality. Not to
get themselves too big headed, after the Astros just really
put it to them in that three game series. And
(15:24):
you know, right now, I don't think they have to
remind themselves of.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
How good they are.
Speaker 7 (15:28):
They just need to get healthy months he's out now.
Keik Hernandez is out. Those are two big position players
that are on the il for the rest of the
first half of the season. Munsey a little bit longer.
Ta Oscar Hernandez is playing through right groin injury, so
I left groin injury, I should say so. Really, the
(15:49):
Dodgers feel pretty good about where they're at with the
best record in the National League. With those three guys hurt,
and even when they were playing, they were hurt without
having Snow and Glass now and Roki Sazaki for the
first half of the season, the Dodgers are feeling really
good about where they're at right now, considering they have
a seven seven and a half game lead in the division.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
You mentioned Snell, Dave, I saw you posted your conversation
with him. Is it as simple as he's gonna be
ready after the All Star break? Is it a little
bit longer after that? Like you know the guy better
than anybody. How close is he?
Speaker 7 (16:25):
He's really close. He's going out on a rehab assignment
during the All Star break. The minor leagues are off,
so he's going to do that in Arizona. He'll probably
have to do at least two or three of those
before he comes back, and then after that. I mean,
there's a real chance that he'll be back at the
end of July. Whether it's that last series against the Twins,
(16:47):
on the first home stand after the break, or that
long road trip that takes the Dodgers to Boston, Cincinnati,
and Tampa, he'll be back. It seems like by then,
at the very latest.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
You saw him at Sheen How how good of a
start was that? What were we expecting? What did you see?
What does that mean?
Speaker 4 (17:08):
Like?
Speaker 2 (17:08):
How does how does that factor in?
Speaker 7 (17:10):
No, He's he's a real guy, and everybody I talked
to is that guy is going to help us big time.
And Dave Roberts even said that two months ago that
he is picking em It Shehan to be a major
impact sleeper style the second half of the season for
the Dodgers. You know, the biggest question yesterday Matt was
(17:31):
why not send him back out there for the sixth
inning against the Astros? He was that good for five
innings and eighty pitches. And look, I know the Dodgers
have great intentions of limiting pitchers and how many innings
and pitches they throw, but five innings and eighty pitches
is not keeping pitchers healthy. So if you're trying to
(17:51):
win a game. I don't see why six and one
hundred would be such an issue.
Speaker 3 (17:55):
What you said a couple of minutes ago, Vassay about
the pitchers on the way that should be the cavalry
and make them much better in the postseason, even than
they were last October. But Clayton Kershaw now in the
meantime not exactly his dominant self. But as I'm sure
you are aware, now an All Star so named by
(18:17):
the commissioner.
Speaker 7 (18:18):
I had no idea about that.
Speaker 3 (18:19):
As a legend. What is he called a glistening icon
of the sport? What is the standard by which Clayton
Kershaw gets to pitch in the All Star Game? In
the Year of the Lord twenty twenty five.
Speaker 7 (18:35):
Well three years ago, in twenty twenty two, this became
a thing because Miguel Cabrera and Albert Poolhols announced that
they were going to retire at the end of that year,
and Rob Manfred just said, hey, here's a victory lap
at the All Star Game. You'll be celebrated for Hall
of Fame careers. So that's where it started. And since
(18:55):
Kershaw just reached his three thousand strikeout milestone, felt like
there was a tidal wave of good feelings for him,
and he hasn't pitched that bad. I mean, if he
would have had more starts under his belt, he certainly
would have been worthy for his selection. So in some
ways he's more worthy than Pools and Cabrera. Weare back
(19:15):
in twenty twenty two, so he hasn't made any any
formal announcement, But the reality is this very well be
his last season in Major League Baseball. It may not be,
but he hasn't said one way or the other. But
I guess Rob Manfred is not taking any chances.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
Yeah, And I think you know and this goes this
goes both ways, right, it's the Kershaw as a legend.
It's the Dodger fans being upset that Pahes got passed
over for Tatis when his numbers seemed to be superior
in just about every category. But it's a TV show.
You want to see Kurleyton Kershaw, you want to see
Fernando Tatis. And I mean that's unfortunately the reality of
(19:54):
the All Star Game for somebody like Pahz who's having
an all Star level first half. Do you think he
is at the top of the list. Is an injury replacement, dave.
Speaker 7 (20:03):
I would say he's near the top of the list
for sure. Yeah, and one guy that could be that
player that taps out is Corbyn Carrol because he had
some loose bodies in one of his wrists and he
went out on his own to play and rehab Arizona
League games. He told Tory Lavello, hey, I'm going I'm
gonna go playing these games, and he was back in
(20:24):
the lineup a couple of days ago. So if there's
one guy that possibly the Diamondbacks may say, hey, we'd
rather you just sit out the All Star Game, even
though you were named to it by players and coaches.
So that could be a possibility. But what made it
complicated for Pajz to make the team was the fact
that how about this, guys, did you catch this? Juan
(20:46):
Soto not only not voted by the fans, but players
and coaches did not vote for Juan Soto.
Speaker 2 (20:52):
That's weird.
Speaker 7 (20:53):
Yeah, how about that? So he had to be added
as a reserve. And same with James Wood who's having
a spectacular year for the Nationals. So that's why there's
kind of a numbers crunch in the National League outfield
this year.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
But no such crunch that involves Mookie Bets. I don't
think even the most diehard Bets fan thinks he's an
All Star at this point. What gives here? Among the
three MVPs, it feels like Bets is the one who's
doesn't feel that way. It is has had the most
enduring struggles of twenty five versus the other two cats.
Speaker 7 (21:28):
Yeah, I mean, he's not an All Star, and I'm
a big advocate for Mookie Betts just to lay by
the pool, relax, maybe even bowl a little bit, maybe
not too much, maybe give the pickleball a rest during
the All Star break and just find a way to
clear his head, get himself physically straight, and come back
(21:48):
for a monster second half because it felt like he
was playing from behind all season long, ever since he
got sick right before the Tokyo trip, and it just
seems like he's never been able to find it offensively. Defensively,
he's fine, you know, he's been above average defensively as
a shortstop, but offensively he's been really average.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
What are they doing you think daily with Muncie now
that keyk is out, Like, what's what's the idea at
third and how do you see him working that thing.
Speaker 7 (22:19):
Yeah, it's gonna be now Rojas and Tommy Edmund that
whole down third base without Kik at least until the
end of this week when they go on the All
Star break, which is manageable. I actually talked to Maximuncie
yesterday before the game, and he was moving around noticeably
better than he was even twenty four hours earlier, and
(22:40):
he told me, yeah, it's not your perception, it's reality.
I'm moving around a lot better. So maybe it's not
going to take as long as six weeks, but the
reality with a bone bruise is. Dave Roberts even said
this a couple of days ago. He experienced it as
a player. Anything to the touch, if you bang it,
(23:00):
it's gonna hurt really bad. So he's gonna have to
play through pain the rest of the year and maybe
even feel it next year as well.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
David Vaha with all the oh, just quickly, Dave Glass,
Now we didn't mention it, but it sounds like he's back.
Speaker 7 (23:15):
Yeah, he's either going to pitch tomorrow or the day after,
likely the day after that final game in Milwaukee. He's back.
He's with the team and He's gonna pitch in this
series against the Brewers.
Speaker 3 (23:30):
Co Dodgers and everything, but Brewers most underrated name in sports.
Their name for beer. They make beer. That's what that's
their whole identity. It's the greatest. Sorry about this slide again.
Speaker 7 (23:41):
Oh it's fine, it's fine. My career has really taken
off ever since.
Speaker 2 (23:46):
Thank you, Dave. We appreciate it.
Speaker 6 (23:48):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
Who's on the show.
Speaker 7 (23:49):
Tonight, Tommy Edmond n LCSMVP.
Speaker 2 (23:54):
There we go, Dodgers on deck, Davevase, conversation with Tommy Edmond,
Tim Kates, all the cast of characters. Get you ready
for that first pitch at four forty. They'll start at
three thirty pm. Big thank you to Dave. When we return,
You're dead and the live guy birthday of the day.

You ever like lose something, you know you lost it,
but you're not certain, like you feel it, like something
just went wrong there, You dropped your wallet.
Speaker 3 (24:55):
I've never had the instinct like you apparently do. You're
on the right now, but you're just living your life.
You drop the wallet, I forget about it. I would
like we'd get into dead and Alive here and then
I lose my train of thought. I forgot that. I
felt my wallet slide out. You'd be serving, you'd be
(25:15):
surfing at dawn tomorrow and be like, where is my wallet?
Speaker 1 (25:18):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (25:19):
That's that's that's age right there, baby, all right, we
found the wallet. We have one more segment after this,
your quick hits as we'll get it over to Kate's
and David Vasse and everybody on Dodgers on Deck. Dave
going to talk to Tommy Edmond just joined us in
the last segment. Anything you miss you can always relive
via the Petro Some Money podcast through the iHeartRadio app.
(25:39):
Dodgers Brewers coming up at four forty pm. Dave, you
have the dead guy birthday of the day.
Speaker 3 (25:46):
I do and Happy What would have been seventy sixth
birthday two. Actor Shelley Duvall Born and raised in Texas,
Shelley Duvall was discovered in nineteen seventy by f maker
Robert Altman at a party Last Picture Show What a Jim.
The first film she was cast in was Brewster McCleod
(26:08):
that same year. Shelley Duval then had roles and other
Altman pictures McCabe and Missus Miller in seventy one, the
crime film Thieves Like Us in seventy four, and the
musical Nashville in seventy five. She received critical acclaim for
her performance in Altman's.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
Three Women in seventy seven.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
In that same year, she had a supporting role in
Woody Allen's Any Hall Great in that we little dating experiences.
Speaker 2 (26:33):
Wild I shouldn't say wildly underbraty. Kids don't know about
any Hall like they should know about any Holmes. Everybody.
Everybody should watch anything.
Speaker 3 (26:40):
I'll go Manhattan by a whisker over any Hall, both
gems that you should see. Duval really gained fame for
playing Wendy Torrance in Kubrick's Gem The Shining also that year.
Still the highlight of that movie for me are the
scatman Caruthers framed photos that hang over his bed. If
you know what I'm talking. Oh, yeah, they make no sense.
(27:03):
They have nothing to do with the movie. They're just
nude women.
Speaker 2 (27:07):
Yeah, it's a lonely time out there, you.
Speaker 3 (27:10):
Know, that's what we're supposed to glean. Also in nineteen
eighty she played Olive Oil alongside Robin Williams and Popeye.
During the nineteen eighties, Duvall would also appear in The
Time in Time Bandits Ooh, that's an underrated great film.
That's real good, Tim Burton's short film Frank and Weeney
in eighty four Annie, and in Rock Saying alongside Steve Martin,
(27:33):
she sort of runs the town. She's the level headed
one who counsels him along the way. In the early nineties,
Shelley launched Think Entertainment, a production company which helped Shelley
create mostly made for TV movies. By the year two thousand,
she had enough of entertainment. She sold the company and
moved back to Texas, where she lived a quiet life
(27:54):
the rest of her days. In November of sixteen, she
made a highly publicized appearance on The Doctor Phil Show
discussing her mental health issues, which led a lot of
people to be worried about her. I have no recollection
of that. Duval was married once briefly in the early seventies.
She got divorced and then was linked to Paul Simon
(28:15):
and Ringo Star. I think it's his birthday today. Well,
I don't want to spoil anything. I think it's Ringo's
eighty fifth birthday today. Well, see if we get to that.
She then met a musical star on me birthday. She
then met a musician named Dan Gilroy, who she was
romantically linked with until her death. She had no kids.
She died last July from diabetes in Blanco, Texas, just
(28:38):
after her seventy fifth birthday. Happy would have been seventy
sixth sixth to Shelley Duval.
Speaker 2 (28:44):
We I don't know if it was I don't know
if it was Petros or if it was me, But
we did, Shelley, as you're a live guy. Birthday of
the day last year. WHOA And that happens when you
do this for twenty years and you do it dead
in the life guy birthday to day every single day.
That you're on the air. There are those moments like
(29:06):
we had with Duval last year and we had an
extended conversation. I remember it because we had a conversation
about strangely attractive, not a trail like what because she
was considered a bit of a you know, kind of
in an odd way, a sex symbol in the seventies.
She was, Yes, I feel like she I don't want
(29:27):
to asexual? Is that kind of what you were going?
Speaker 3 (29:29):
Well, no, no, I think she is. And this isn't
a knock her. I guess it will sound like one.
She is the most non human looking, big time out,
very interesting look. She looks like she looks like a caricature,
those those big yes and yeah, the face, the terrified
look as Nicholson's chasing her around that place and everything.
(29:52):
The faces she makes are cartoonish.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
But you buy it, you Uh you said, Ringo stars Day.
One of my favorite crank calls ever from uh what's
his name? Who used to call Stern all the time?

Speaker 3 (31:19):
More Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, They all would be
rated ahead of best band ever, of any American band,
best American band of all time. Tomorrow all right, geez,
I jack every second when I talk about Ringo Star
some more on me birthday.
Speaker 9 (31:38):
Richard's Ringo Star on my birthday.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
I love that he called up and put his name
in as Richard. So the people that get it really
get it on the next level, like I'm going to Richard. Oh,
it's Richard Starkey, it's Ringo stars Birthday.
Speaker 6 (32:00):

Israeli rock.

I thought we've had this discussion.
Speaker 3 (32:57):
No no, no, yeah, yeah, wow.
Speaker 2 (33:00):
Secret on the other side of the family that was
exposed when my older brother got his twenty three ande
meters and yeah, come on that it's right, Vic, you
and me ash KANASI zu.
Speaker 3 (33:15):
To get bar mits, but but we can still make
it happen. You know, learn your hotel Rah.
Speaker 2 (33:21):
I believe our sect was where Yiddish came from. Is
what I determined when digging into my background. But again,
let's just celebrate party because you know we have this connection.
Born in Turkey, immigrated to Israel when he was three,
grew up playing the guitar. First big band sixteen Cosmic
dream Man. He and Ronnie Fortess where didn't give me
(33:41):
some of that because it's pretty sweet. Wanted to become
the father of Israeleig punk rock. Went to do his
military service. I like the conscription thing. I think it
solved some problems here.
Speaker 4 (33:52):
So he gets out.
Speaker 2 (33:52):
He goes to Belgium and he found minimal compact post
punk kick ass. Give me that cakes, give me that
minimal compact next honest, into this early eighties Amsterdam. I
believe they went to Belgium first, then they made their
(34:12):
way to Amster.
Speaker 3 (34:13):
Ten year old Matt money Smith discover this.
Speaker 2 (34:16):
Band this I did not this, I just discovered today.
I was like, who is this brother of mine? And
what did he do? It took off Japan was super
into it. Their tour in the world. John Fryar, who
produced the Depeche Mode records, produces their latest release, and
(34:36):
what happens. Our man Barry has a misstep and everybody
knows if you're from you know, they'll mess around to
the Bengurian airport with cocaine. And that's what he did,
and he got popped and he went to the clink
for a year. Minimal Compact breaks up, Barry starts producing,
gets out of the plane, but he misses it, so
he puts out a solo record in ninety one. It
goes crazy. By the mid nineties, he's the biggest artist
(34:59):
in Israel, highest growth. We've seen tour year after year,
biggest release at the time in Israeli history. For a
first week of sales nineteen ninety eight, touches Pete Soccer
off pumping out a record every eighteen months, and then
oh four, He's like, all right, let's get Minimal Compact
back together. They put out a new record, start torn again.
