Speaker 1 (00:00):
Yeah, don't we continue on Fred Rogan, Rodney Pete, a
s l A Sports Dodger calls coming up later on
in the hours they get ready for the Phillies. We'll
set that up for you in a bit. But now
let's worry about what happened last night, and that was
not good. So we bring on our NFL insider Annie
Bonds and your any good afternoon to you.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
How are you guys better than the Ranch? Yeah? That
was not a Yeah, that was a That was a
tough pill to swallow. If you're a Rams fan and
and you're the Rams, no doubt about.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
It, man, Yeah, you got to be concerned if you're
a Ram fan of any of You know, people often
look at offense and defense and don't really pay a
whole lot of attention to special teams. But man, they
don't clean that up. That's two games I think back
to back Home and that the special teams have let

(00:55):
them down.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Yeah, no date, no doubt. And you know, obviously we
can we can also talk about Kyrin Williams fumbling, you
know at the going in for a touchdown. That's we'll
set that aside for for for a second. But you
just can't have the kind of breakdowns that the rams
we've had on special teams out It's just it's just
incredible to me how much Special teams this year has

(01:20):
played a role. We all know obviously that special teams
is big, but it just feels bigger this year for
whatever reason we understand. You know, obviously, the return game
on kickoffs has now been reintroduced, and that's that's big
play opportunities for the for the returning team and the
return team as well. But it seems like it's it
seems like it's spilled over into every other part of

(01:42):
this special teams. Like you're seeing block kicks, you're seeing
miss field goals, you're seeing long field goals that we've
never seen in a rate we've never seen. So the
special is definitely back in special teams, and it's not
just on the kickoffs.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
Yeah, and it's not just you know, we talked about
we would talk about the RAMS obviously, but it's all
of the league. Like you mentioned Ned Dallas game, I
think that that that kick extra point return got them
all back into the game because in the momentum that
it swung and it was only a two point play,
but at that moment it swung the momentum back in
Dallas's favor against Green Bay and ended up trying a game.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
And you know, yes, we could talk about the extra point,
but also just you know, almost as damaging was you
know where the kickoff in overtime went. I mean, it's
it's such an intricate thing now and it's it's it's
such a it's such a massive benefits for the offense
if the kicker can't land it where it's supposed to

(02:43):
be landed, like, there's so many damaging you know, penalties basically,
uh for for for the kick team if you don't square,
if you don't put that where it needs to be.
And you know here with with the Las Vegas Raiders
talking to Daniel Carlson and how much he's tried to
practice and get that thing right. And you could practice
it all you want, but if you miss it by
just a little bit, you know this Rodney being a

(03:04):
former professional player, just a little bit, you know, one
way or another, one inch you're one inch there on
your foot hitting the ball could mean an extra thirty
yards for the other team. It's just it really is
incredible and it's gonna still take a little while to
get sorted out. And and that's not even getting into
the k balls and how that changed in favor of

(03:26):
kickers on on on, you know, on on field goals
and long kicks. So it's really it's really an interesting
subject right now.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
All right, you're in overtime, got a chance to tie
the game, you're down by three field goal ties it
Sean McVay goes for it, they come up short. Afterwards,
he's asked about it, he goes, well, basically, if i'd
know him then what I knew now, I would have
tried to tie the game, but we came here to win.
That made things even worse, you know, it just it's
not going your way. There was a fumble on the
one yard line at one point.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
What did he mean? I think I know now what
I know?

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Then?

Speaker 3 (03:59):
What do you mean in other go ahead, Benny?

Speaker 2 (04:04):
I think it. I think it was more. I mean, obviously,
now that you know what the outcome was, maybe you
would have changed, you know, the decision to go for
it first and foremost. But I also think he was
he was more regretting the play call and yeah, you know,
and how they executed it right there. Obviously, I think
you go for it right there. I don't think you
kick a field goal to tie it up and then

(04:24):
the next thing, you know, again with those kickoffs, the
way the kickoffs hadn't been going for the for the Rams.
On that first overtime kickoff, you never you might. It's
like a one play away from the forty nine ers
getting back in the field goal range again, and then
they win in on a second field goal. So I
I think you got to go for it. You should
be able to expect to get a yard as an
NFL team. Unfortunately they weren't. They weren't able to execute it.

(04:48):
By the way, I went back and looked at kyn
Williams in college, and he carried the ball quite a
bit for Notre Dame. He had one fumble at Notre Dame.
You know, as a as a running back. I don't
know what's going on, And I feel so bad for him.
Kase number one, he's a great kid. Number two, he's
really good, the extremely important part of the Rams team. Uh.
But but you know this is becoming an issue at
this point.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
Yeah, and and and going back to Sean McVay, Yeah,
I don't think he was regretting the decision to go
for it. I think he was regretting the play call,
which you know, you know, no disrespect to Karen Williams,
because I think he's I'm with you, Vinnie. I think
he's he's gonna be a great back in this league
and is on his way to do and that got
to clean up the fumbles obviously, but he's a good back.

(05:32):
But I think in that moment, I just I think
I put it in Stafford's hands somehow, some way and
and let him make a play because it was it
was fourth down, and it was a long one. It
was a one and a half kind of thing, right,
so it wasn't like it was fourth and inches. So
in that, in that regards, I think that's what he's regretting,
is is running the ball in that situation. Okay, Vinny,

(05:54):
So give me the state of the Raiders right now,
because I know it's got to feel disappointing a little bit.
But what's the state of this team?

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Yeah? Well, first, first of all, I don't think anybody expected.
I know, no one expected the kind of hiccups that
you know Smith has had at home. He's got six
interceptions in his two home games at a Legion Stadium.
I mean if he if he just if he throws
two interceptions Sunday against the Chicago Bears, the Raiders win,

(06:23):
win the game. I don't know whether he's pressing. And
it's so weird Rodney, because his splits historically, especially these
last three years, indoors, he's he's dynamic indoors, and the
numbers go down when he's outdoors. It's completely reversed. This year,
the numbers are worse indoors than they are outdoor. So
go figure on that. And you just don't you don't

(06:45):
expect that from from from Gino Smith. And so, you know,
I think the loss of the Washington to the Washington
Commanders was really disappointing on a whole a lot of
levels because of the way they approached that game, the
way they played that game, and it was it seemed
like they were in a fog. They cleaned everything, all
of that up against the Bears. Ashton Genty has a
career game, and that's gonna that's gonna be one of

(07:06):
many big games that he has. He's really good. The
defense played great, you know, and and and and realistically
they should have won that game, but you can't win
the game when your quarterback throws three interceptions and and
and you give them the ball, you know, inside your
twenty four yard line three times, and the defense played
pretty gallantly in that. But you just can't survive that.

(07:28):
So I think that's so if you're asking me to
stay to the Raiders, you know, Pete, he's going to
look at the positives. Obviously the outcome drives him nuts
and is causing some sleepless nights right now. But he
loved the fact that the run game was where he
wanted to be. Two hundred and forty yards against the
Bears on Sunday, the run defense they give up sixty
one yards. That's where he wants that to be. So

(07:49):
there's there's some building blocks that that he's seeing and
some characteristics of the team that he's that he wants
to see. But you're never going to win a lot
of games at the NFL when you're when you're minus
three in the turnover.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
Here's the issue, Vinny with the Raiders, even with Pete
Carroll there when this kind of stuff starts, you know,
special teams mistakes, you think to yourself, they there's no difference,
you know. Geno Smith thrown interceptions.

Speaker 3 (08:13):
I understand it's a different quarterback, but you know, the
perception of the Raiders over the past couple of years
and now you're looking at this going, oh my god,
it doesn't matter who the coach is.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
Yeah, no, that is that that that becomes the perception,
and that's that's what they're tirelessly working. And this goes
all the way up to Tom Brady. They're tirelessly working
to change that perception. And I think you know, you
guys know Pete Carroll and he is laying the groundwork
and he wants to win a bunch of games. But
you know, when you analyze the Raiders, what they what

(08:43):
they need to do is build a winning mentality in
the organization from top to bottom. And that that it
starts with how you approach each day, how you look
at yourself, the confidence that you have, and what they
ultimately want to get is you know, the difference between
you know, hope you win to expecting to win to
flat out winning. And it's a it's a little bit

(09:05):
of a process. And you know, I went back and
looked at Pete his first year at USC. He started
one and four and then they rolled off like five
straight wins, and that season they lost to Utah I
believe in the Las Vegas Ball. And the next year
they win the Orange Bowl and away they went. And
you go back to the to the you know, the
Seattle Seahawks. They were seven and nine his first two years.

(09:26):
They made the playoffs his first year because it was
a bad division. They actually won a playoff game that year.
But it wasn't all Peaches of the Year exactly. That
was a good memory, a good memory. That was one
of the arguably the best run you know, in in
NFL history or among them. So he's been here before,
and you know, I think that as much as he

(09:47):
wants to win and we all know that that's how
he's wired, I think he also understands the importance of
laying that groundwork that he laid in the early stages
at USC and then the early stages at Seattle that
led to the to the bigger success down the road,
because that's exactly what this franchise needs. You can't have
what Pete, what what you just talked about? Fred? Oh,
here's here we go again. You know you can't. Maybe

(10:09):
it's outside and and fair enough, you know, because they
have done some greater like things are already this season.
But that can't that can't happen in the locker room.
You can't let that kind of air and that kind
of energy into into the locker room because it's hard
to push that out in real time while while you're
playing a season. So so they're trying to avoid that.
They're trying to remain positive and kind of latch onto

(10:30):
the positives. But you know, they got to start winning
some football games. And this is a tough team that
they're playing against in in the Colts. So you know,
Rock Bauers is still dinged up and Max Crosby, you know,
his knee is barking a little bit. So a tough
challenge for them this week. And I would not be
surprised if if they're one and four by the time
they get back to Las Vegas on Sunday night.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
Yeah, yeah, got to turn it around really fast. Chargers.
They you know, that win and against Kansas City to
start the season, you know, got everybody excited and got
them all fired up. And we you know, Fred just
mentioned it, You just mentioned it the same old Raiders
and can't go into that mode. But you also can't

(11:13):
go back to the Giants and lose if you're the Chargers.
I know it's Jackson Dart first start and a lot
of hype and a lot of energy and all those
kind of things, but the Giants are not on the
Charger level, and those kind of games are the ones.
And that's the thing with good teams and really good
teams that have track records in history, that you win

(11:35):
the games you're supposed to win. And that's a game
that they were supposed to win. And I know it's
the NFL. You got to play them every week, but
if they want to take themselves to the next level,
they can't fall into that trap again of man, same
old Chargers, same old Chargers.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
Yeah, I completely agree. We did talk about it going
into the game that that felt like urbial chat game.
But to your point, you know, if you're aspiring to
be better than you've been, then chap games should not be.
First of all, you're the you know where you are
as the Chargers. You've got no business overlooking anybody. And

(12:14):
I say that with all due respect. You know they're
not there yet. They're not. They're not as well as
they played the start the season. They shouldn't be feeling
themselves to that extent where you could just kind of,
you know, not sleepwalk necessarily, but but but not be
you know, uh, where you need to be to compete
on the against NFL teams. I don't care what the

(12:34):
records are of those other NFL teams, you're just not
there yet. So but they did, That's exactly what they
what they did, and you know the Giants, you knew
the Giants were going to play with their hair on fire.
It's the new it's the new kid on the block.
It's uh, you know, the the hot shot rookie quarterback
that's making his debut in New York. You knew all
the all the eyeballs were going to be out out there.

(12:56):
Everyone was going to pick it up a notch, you know,
on that roster to help him out. And that's exactly
what they did. And that the Chargers just weren't prepared
to face that challenge. And that's that's a mistake on
their part.

Speaker 3 (13:08):
All right, Well, Vennie, thank you for the info, thank
you for coming out. As always, you have a.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
Terrific weekend, absolutely, and go Dodgers.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
There you go, a good friend. Vinnie Bond signor all
right now, talking about the Dodgers. So let's really get
into this for a couple of minutes here. We'll open
the phone lines in a second. I believe the Phillies
are very good, and I also believe that the winner
of this series will win the World Series. Okayme on
the record, I think Rodney pretty much agrees with that
this is the World Series. Yep, all right, good. I

(13:40):
know the Phillies are good. I know they have the pitching.
I think even though it will be tough, it's not
going to be as hard for the Dodgers to win
this as some are suggesting that.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
Why do you keep saying that I don't get it?
Tell me, tell me why? And I'm gonna keep asking
this every time you open your mouth to say it's
gonna be an easy series.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
Why Because the Dodgers are going to out hit them.
The Dodgers are gonna pound their pitching. That will happen.
That is my prediction. The Dodgers will pound their pitching,
and their pitching is really good.

Speaker 3 (14:17):
The Dodgers will beat them, and they will beat them
handily offensively. You know what's gonna happen? Know what I predict.
When we take calls, people are gonna yell at you
because they're gonna think you just jinked the Dodgers and
making it tougher than it's gonna have to be because
you open your mouth to say this was gonna be easy.
Well we'll find out, Okay, ye find if that's how
you want to play. I'm very confident. I'm very I am.

(14:41):
I'm very confident about this. It's one thing to be confident,
but don't be cocky. Fred, I hear you. I'm just
saying I am very confident. The question becomes, what is
your confidence level?

Speaker 2 (14:58):
Eight?

Speaker 1 (14:59):
Six six nine? Right, let's hear it. I feel very
confident here. How do you feel? What do you think?

Speaker 3 (15:07):
Dodger fans? You're next?

Speaker 4 (15:09):
Make AM five to seventy LA Sports a preset before
you plug in your phone. Presets in the iHeartRadio app,
now available with Apple car Play and Android autom Just
another easy way to listen to LA's best sports talk.

Speaker 3 (15:25):
Yeah, here we go. It's a beautiful Friday as we
get ready for a fantastic weekend. Yes, Rodney, Pete, Fred Rogan,
y'all come on, what is your confidence level? Rodney? By
the way, my confidence level was high, very high. I
love the way the Dodgers are playing right now. I

(15:47):
love you know what I love the most though, I
think the the uncertainty from other teams of what they're
going to see from the Dodgers out of the bullpen.
I think they haven't They don't have a book on
Sazaki really coming out of the bullpen. You know, we're
not sure when they're gonna use Kersh out of the bullpen.

(16:07):
I think those those those uncertainty image in even though
you know he struggled a little bit, but we're gonna
see him coming out of the pen. I think that
little uncertainty is is going to work in the Dodger's favor.
So yeah, I'm extremely confident, not cocky. Fred is not
gonna be easy by any sheep. And if it is
easy at the end of this series, Fred, yeah, I

(16:29):
will say Fred, you're right, Fred, Thank you had the insight.
I will say, Fred, you you sometimes know what you're
talking about. Verigo will give that to you. You want
to say now you want to wait?

Speaker 1 (16:40):
No, will wait? You're way yeah wait six six, nine, seven,
five seventy. We'll start in La. Chris is on the line.
You better not say anything, is my fault, Chris.

Speaker 5 (16:51):
Fred Fred Fred, I'm telling you, if we lose, all
blame is on you. You cannot say something like that.

Speaker 2 (16:59):
That is the pity me of a jinx.

Speaker 5 (17:01):
You just went pop towever and harpurn all those guys
and how good they are. How can you say we're
gonna run through them. They scare me the most and
we have a losing record against them. So yeah, you're
gonna jinx this by saying that, right, But can I
ask you a question?

Speaker 3 (17:14):
Though?

Speaker 5 (17:15):
I get your opinion on something you're talking about earlier,
about the padres and that pitch that was missed. Yeah, okay,
So what's your opinion on why Major League Baseball use
this system instead of going fully automated. Because this system
only guarantees that two pitches each team are guaranteed to
be right.

Speaker 3 (17:33):
Because use correct me if I'm wrong, correct me. If
you get the challenge right, you keep it.

Speaker 5 (17:39):
But why not use a system where all of the
calls are right instead of using just the umpire as
they've been doing, and you get to challenge one of
those umpire's calls. Why not if you're going to use it,
if it is automated and it gives the correct call.

Speaker 2 (17:55):
Why not use that all the time.

Speaker 5 (17:57):
I think it's a compromise because now you're just saying,
I can as two of your calls throughout.

Speaker 2 (18:01):
The whole game.

Speaker 3 (18:02):
Yeah, no, no, no, no, you're.

Speaker 5 (18:03):
Right, pitch that pitch could have been outside of the
uh you know, two calls.

Speaker 1 (18:09):
No, no, I got it, I got it, I got it.
Here's why. First of all, people are reluctant to change.
It's scary. There's a book it's called Who Moved My Cheese?
Everybody should read that. It talks about how life evolves
and things change. People are creatures of habit. They're afraid
of what may happen. And I think there's also a
bit of concern just about the system in general. It works,

(18:34):
but what bugs might there be? And I think that's
what they continue to play with. So this is the
first step. This is the first step to get you
to what ultimately will happen. Yeah, and it may come
to that.

Speaker 3 (18:46):
And they're they're from what we've seen how it's used
and and even in the NFL, they've they've gone to
the quick review process and a lot of those calls,
so it doesn't take forever. But I also think that
they want to. They want to see how it works
from a strategic standpoint, and that's what they're keeping into
the game, is that if you can challenge every pitch,

(19:06):
then you know there's no strategy for the teams or
the managers. Say when I use that, like you might
be in the third inning where the bases loaded and
one out and you get a bad call that you
probably should challenge. But do you challenge in the third
inning or do you wait? But the thing is, Rodney,
you keep it if you get it, Yeah, but if

(19:28):
you don't get it, well, that's the issue. That's what
I'm saying. It's why it's got to be it's strategic, right,
because if you take a chance and it's close, it's borderline,
it's gray, and you you challenge and you don't get it,
then you're limited when you get into the eighth, ninth
inning or extra innings. All right, let's go to.

Speaker 1 (19:47):
Uh Burbank, Henry. Henry, you're feeling pretty damn good, aren't you.

Speaker 6 (19:54):
I'm really pretty confident. I mean, uh, as I said earlier,
I mean I say even out of ten, I say
eleven out of ten, I say, because like we got
all Tawny. I mean, that's that's ten out of ten
right there. And we got guys like ti Oskar who
who are just having fun right now. They're playing, they're
playing passionate. And when those guys are on, I mean,
you're talking about defending camps.

Speaker 2 (20:16):
Guys.

Speaker 6 (20:16):
I just scored ten runs eight ten runs in the
first two games. I mean two home runs, multiple home runs.
I mean, that's that.

Speaker 7 (20:23):
That's what gives you confidence.

Speaker 6 (20:23):
I don't think it's cockingess. I think I think cockiness
would be would be the other way around if the
Phillies were saying it because they haven't been there. They
haven't been there too out of the last five years.
And I think that there's nothing wrong with that. I
wouldn't blame you if we lost.

Speaker 3 (20:36):
I think that would we have a right to be confident.
Very good, Henry, thank you? Was that a relative of yours? Friend?

Speaker 8 (20:42):
That?

Speaker 1 (20:43):
Uh? That was Henry Rogan? No, Henry, thank you, appreciate
you listening. Uh, We'll go to West Covina.

Speaker 3 (20:49):
Uh. Sonya's on the line. Hey, Sonya, Hi.

Speaker 8 (20:55):
Hi, who are you well?

Speaker 3 (20:58):
Sonya? I'm fine? How are you this date? What are
we doing?

Speaker 9 (21:03):
Oh?

Speaker 8 (21:03):
What are we doing?

Speaker 5 (21:04):
We are winning.

Speaker 3 (21:07):
Yes, yes, so you're Are you confident? Sonya?

Speaker 8 (21:10):
I am super confident?

Speaker 3 (21:14):
And why do you feel that?

Speaker 8 (21:15):
I believe, I believe. What's that?

Speaker 3 (21:17):
Why do you feel that way? Why are you confident?

Speaker 8 (21:21):
Because they're hitting their scoring and momantrum is on their
side and the bullpen. But I mean after the Saki pitch,
I think it's looking good, looking good.

Speaker 3 (21:36):
All right, well, Sonya, thank you for listening, thank you
for calling.

Speaker 10 (21:40):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
This is what we like. We like people to be
involved in the show. I don't think we've had Sony on.
Have we talked to her before?

Speaker 3 (21:47):
I don't believe. So all right, Sonya, thank you.

Speaker 1 (21:51):
Now here's somebody that will have something to say, who
allegedly is now flown back to Hawaii after her stay
in San Diego.

Speaker 3 (22:00):
Here comes Angelo.

Speaker 7 (22:01):
Hello Angela, Hello gentlemen.

Speaker 3 (22:07):
So you're back now where you were to fight on
and fight on.

Speaker 11 (22:11):
Fight on, Rodney and go go ahead with your okay?
So uh I told I told Kevin check the tape.
I never said San Diego so that that other guy
was tripping. But I'm not as confident as Fred and
I'm not going to roll with the jinks saying and
all that. I'm just saying.

Speaker 7 (22:32):
It's fifty to fifty. We got a fifty to fifty chance.

Speaker 11 (22:35):
Because there's a thing around some people's necks called the choke.

Speaker 7 (22:40):
And you know that could happen, anything would happen.

Speaker 3 (22:44):
What is that thing around people's neck?

Speaker 1 (22:46):
Angela? What is that thing around people's neck? I'm gonna
write it down, trying to write it in ink.

Speaker 2 (22:51):
What's it called a choke?

Speaker 3 (22:54):
Okay, go ahead, Okay. I just wanted to make sure
I heard what you said.

Speaker 2 (23:01):
Yeah, okay, all right.

Speaker 3 (23:04):
So you think it's going to be tight.

Speaker 11 (23:07):
Yeah I do.

Speaker 5 (23:09):
They're hungry. They are hungry, they're starving.

Speaker 1 (23:13):
Okay, all right. Do you have anything you want to
wrap this up with today? Any fish head stories or anything.

Speaker 7 (23:21):
Now that's it we're talking to No, you set the
bar so high last time.

Speaker 3 (23:28):
Ange, I need something. Now it's Friday. Take me to
the weekend, baby. Now she hung up? Why does she
hang up today? What? What happened? I like Angela when
one day she's so loquacious and then today she was
not as talkative. Frett, what did you do? I didn't

(23:49):
do anything. I thought she was really funny yesterday, Ronnie.
Ronnie didn't like.

Speaker 1 (23:53):
It yesterday, didn't like it all right, let's go to
uh Mitch in New Jersey.

Speaker 3 (24:01):
God, yes, Mitch Bridney, Hey, Mitch tight On, Okay, that
a baby, Mitch.

Speaker 10 (24:11):
I think either Lemon or might have don't win the Heisman.
They'll win nine ten games. We wouldn't be died. We
got Michigan next. Pretty confident, I'm said, if you have
any things for statics game, I appreciate it. I feel
very confident. Monthly be healthier. We're getting back Will Smith right,
A lineup is better. I think we have more Starughters.
They have a great closer. But I think we're gonna

(24:34):
it's a it's a beans box. I think we were
I've seen a lot of home.

Speaker 2 (24:37):
Runs the box.

Speaker 3 (24:39):
What box did you say it is?

Speaker 10 (24:40):
I don't know what he said, Oh yeah, let me
it's a bean box. It's it's a hit his talk.
And I think we've got a better lineup. So you
can see a lot of homelies. We saw a lot
of Holans in the first two games. Well actually they
were a game one, but we were scoring runs like
it was going out of style.

Speaker 12 (24:55):
And keep it up, Mitch, do you mean up like
a bandbox? You said a bean box. Never heard the
term bean boxing?

Speaker 3 (25:01):
That's me. Is that what you meant?

Speaker 12 (25:03):
A band box and a bandbox? Is that what you're
referring to?

Speaker 10 (25:06):
Man boxes?

Speaker 12 (25:08):
Box?

Speaker 10 (25:09):
I got that correct.

Speaker 3 (25:10):
What's a bean box?

Speaker 10 (25:11):
That's something else. I'm exactly sure it might be one
of my grandson's toys.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
I'm sick.

Speaker 10 (25:20):
All right, well, it was something good. I think we're
winning for gainst the three and four in LA on Wednesday?

Speaker 3 (25:27):
Right, uh yeah, Wednesday, Thursday?

Speaker 2 (25:33):
All right?

Speaker 3 (25:34):
And what else?

Speaker 2 (25:37):
Mitch, wait, wait wait.

Speaker 3 (25:38):
Give me something on Friday, Mitch, this has been I'm
been a little disappointed. Mitch. Stop it, Mitch, stop it
right now.

Speaker 10 (25:44):
Yes, not a problem, Yes, I get it. And again
the credit understand me, I said, Michail Lemon is like
Jack Lemon of.

Speaker 3 (25:53):
Why we don't We don't know, no, Mitch, we don't
even know what you're saying. Now, we don't know what
you're saying.

Speaker 12 (25:59):
Somebody's nacky in makayle Lemon at usc he says it's
the Jack the Jack Lemon at so I think he's
trying to pay your.

Speaker 3 (26:07):
Compliment there, Rodney, Okay, that's great.

Speaker 10 (26:10):
Yes, let me speak to the at least at least
Ronnie has some acting. Well, at least he's married. You
want to, all right, get his Dakota.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
That's got no Mitch, Yes, yes, yes, all right, thank you, Mitch,
thank you.

Speaker 10 (26:31):
That was very good.

Speaker 3 (26:32):
All right, he's still there, the guy.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
Okay, Paul and Ontario, are you confident? I'm not sure
what I am after this, but go ahead.

Speaker 7 (26:41):
I'm confident. I am confident. By the way they call before,
you kind of like vic the Brick print.

Speaker 2 (26:47):
You guys, what Angela did Mitch?

Speaker 12 (26:51):
I think he's talking about Mit.

Speaker 7 (26:54):
Yeah, he's kind of like Victor Brick.

Speaker 2 (26:58):
Anyway.

Speaker 7 (26:59):
You guys remember season when we had that slump just
before the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (27:06):
Yeah, your yeah, yeah, for sure, this slump.

Speaker 7 (27:10):
This slump that we had, that's not a bad thing,
especially for a good team. Look at the Tigers who
just absolutely slumped like hell just a few weeks ago,
and uh almost miss the playoffs because of this. But yeah,
look excellent right now. And they got that, they got
school ball, they got everybody else.

Speaker 2 (27:30):
So do we.

Speaker 7 (27:31):
And we have that we had that dip. We got
it all out of our system. It's all out of
the way. Moki looks better now. He had that slump
just before, uh, a couple of games ago, and and uh,
everything looks good.

Speaker 2 (27:43):
Everything.

Speaker 7 (27:44):
I think we're all set up. I just the only
tiny little got worries about me is that is just
of course the bullpens. But I mean we have starters
to do that. We have kersh.

Speaker 3 (27:53):
Of you in Ontario.

Speaker 7 (28:00):
I am in Antario.

Speaker 3 (28:01):
All right, have you gone buying team? What the new
ballpark's going to look like?

Speaker 11 (28:06):
No?

Speaker 7 (28:07):
No, I haven't driven by there a lot. I go
to quake schemes, but it's kind of in the same
similar area. But no, not yet.

Speaker 3 (28:15):
That's supposed to be a great stadium. Oh no, it's
it's supposed to be unbelievable, like a hundred million dollars
are spending on that thing, Paul.

Speaker 7 (28:23):
Yeah, no, Yeah, there's a contractor truck all over the place.
It looks like a huge crew going in and out
of there. But it looks very promising.

Speaker 3 (28:32):
All right, cool, Thanks for calling, Paul, Have a good weekend.
Let's go to Corona. Carl. You're one hundred percent confident,
is that right?

Speaker 13 (28:40):
Good afternoon, gentlemen, love the show.

Speaker 3 (28:43):
Thank you, thank you.

Speaker 13 (28:45):
Definitely definitely confident despite these past bullpen struggles. We have
pitchers coming to help you this. I feel that this
last series that the Dodgers just went through is the
spark that we needed just to go back to back.
We have so many variables that are in experience, you know,

(29:08):
this is this is what they're built for. This is
what they spend so much money and have so many
stars to make up for those, you know, errors and
things that that go along through a season. This is
what they're made for.

Speaker 1 (29:22):
Thanks for the call, appreciate it. Let's do one more.
Let's go to Dwarte Steve. Why are you confident?

Speaker 9 (29:28):
I am confident? Fred?

Speaker 3 (29:32):
Why is that?

Speaker 2 (29:33):
Why? Why?

Speaker 9 (29:34):
I think that Choi is gonna set the table tomorrow.
It's in his DNA. And before I forget, I would
also like to throw a throw a shout out to Rodney.
Not long ago, he did a beautiful little talk about
free speech.

Speaker 2 (29:52):
Remember that.

Speaker 3 (29:54):
Wait say that again. I think he's talking about you.

Speaker 9 (29:58):
Yes, relative did Kimmel et cetera, et cetera, and free speech.
You were eloquent. Rodney.

Speaker 3 (30:05):
Thank you very much, Thank you. I appreciate that.

Speaker 9 (30:09):
Well, the it's what the world needs. And Fred, Fred
the icon you might not remember, but a couple of
months ago, I predicted a prognostication that Showy would rise
to the challenge, hitting as well as pitching.

Speaker 2 (30:26):
I stay with that, Steve, what are.

Speaker 3 (30:28):
You like the oracle? I love it. I had a prognostication,
are you the oracle?

Speaker 2 (30:35):
Well?

Speaker 9 (30:36):
I got another one for you, Freddie, Because of you
guys in the station, I had to go down on
and I stopped at the spotlight twenty nine.

Speaker 3 (30:47):
Oh good.

Speaker 2 (30:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (30:49):
They were very gracious. They gave me enough winnings to
buy me a nice lunch. And I asked the employees there, Fred,
they have no about you. And whoever was your shotgun
when you were down there? I said, Fred Rogan, he's
an icon. But Fred, that one has a little more promotion.

Speaker 1 (31:14):
Steve, No, no, no, no, no, no no. Here's why.
There is a reason for this, and I'm glad you
pointed it out. I mean, the story was going on
a little bit, but now it's come to a good point.
Here's why. Because when we're out there doing the show,
it's not our show. It's the Eric Dickerson show. Rodney

(31:34):
and I are just on it. They don't even promote.

Speaker 9 (31:40):
That's what I see that if I'm down there again,
I will eighty six you two and just mention Eric Dickerson.

Speaker 3 (31:50):
Yeah, oh, they'll take care of you like a king then.

Speaker 9 (31:54):
And by the way, months ago. No, no, no more
little story about No, there's no.

Speaker 3 (32:00):
More stories, Steve, please please, please please, we can't do
any more stories there. We're out of time. We're out
of time. But that was really good. Thank you, Steve.

Speaker 14 (32:09):
All right, Hey, Steve, Ronnie won't put Angela on, but
Steve can talk for an hour.

Speaker 12 (32:23):
No problem, Steve. Rodney bropup a good point. He had
like Larry King vibes to him.

Speaker 3 (32:27):
He did like a little bit like Larry King from
Beyond the Grave.

Speaker 12 (32:31):
Rodney p you were on Footballer, huh tell me about that.

Speaker 3 (32:35):
I love you, Rodney Poughkeepsie, New York. He I think
he just it just got to be too much. That's all.
We love Steve. We love him.

Speaker 1 (32:44):
He prognosticated he's the oracle. Do you remember him calling
and saying that, because I really don't.

Speaker 12 (32:52):
I don't on the show in the past, I don't
work all Steve. I thought.

Speaker 3 (32:55):
I thought at first it was like an android, like
some sort of robot voice.

Speaker 1 (32:59):
Somebody figured out some AI technology to screw with you, Fred, No.

Speaker 3 (33:03):
He's got a good voice. I mean, please from the moon.
He went to Spotlight twenty nine Casinos, so Eric Dickerson's
favorite spot in the Coachella Valley. So it's good he
went to one of our spots. And he's still there
with a rotary phone.

Speaker 1 (33:17):
Whoa, Ronnie, you should have got a Fantasy Springs. That's
our new one. They'd know us, I'll tell you.

Speaker 3 (33:24):
That, you damn right, they would at the Eagle Falls
golf Course in the restaurant restaurant.

Speaker 1 (33:32):
Oh yeah, right, all right, Uh coming up next to
our Jose Mota will join the show. One billion dollars
you willing to lose that?

Speaker 4 (33:49):
Make am five to seventy. LA Sports a preset before
you plug in your poone presets in the iHeartRadio app
now available with Apple car Play and Android Auto. Just
another easy way to listen to LA's best sports talk.

Speaker 15 (34:05):
Oh that's right, it's Friday Rodney Pete, Fred Rogan. Yes,
we are the home of the Dodgers, the in a
West Champ Dodgers getting ready to embark on a very
interesting series against the Phillies. This is the heavyweight fight, Fred,
It's the heavyweight fight. That we all been looking for.
This is the big boys going at it. Fred, this
is not the lightweight division.

Speaker 1 (34:27):
No, you're right about that, Rodney again, Phillies, very good,
very very good.

Speaker 3 (34:31):
I just think I think it'll be surprising. That's what
I'll say. It'll be surprising. All right.

Speaker 1 (34:36):
So here we go. Remember when liv came onto the scene.
Remember they were going to change the way golf was
played and consumed by viewers, and they started paying people
enormous amounts of money. Okay, well now they've lost over
a billion dollars. They've lost over a billion dollars. You
want to know why because they can't make as much

(34:57):
money as they're spending.

Speaker 3 (34:59):
Why not?

Speaker 1 (35:01):
Because the TV deals aren't there to support it, the
media deals aren't there. On paper, it was a great idea.
We're going to create a new model for doing this,
and guys are gonna get paid and everybody's gonna love it. Well, first,
somebody has to see it to love it. And second,
it's a lot harder to launch something than you think. Right,
everybody thought Spring football would kill it, kill it, all right,

(35:23):
Well it doesn't. You know why, because people want the NFL.
That's why they don't really care about football twelve months
a year unless it's the NFL. And I think what
you're learning here because they don't have the television commitments.
People know the PGA, these guys in liver are getting
paid a lot of money, but people aren't really watching it.

Speaker 3 (35:47):
They're just not. It's sort of like the XFL.

Speaker 1 (35:53):
So remember the PGA was going to merge with these
guys because players were defecting and there was concerned about maintaining,
uh just the status of the tour. But now you
look at it and you're going they're losing money. How
much can they lose? Well, they can lose as much
as they want, given who owns it.

Speaker 3 (36:12):
A billion dollars. Yeah, I do want to say you
think a billion dollars. I ain't think they care about
a billion dollars. You know, they're gonna look up ten
years from now. Maybe that's a problem, but right now
it's it's like they're looking at it as a as
any other startup that you you're gonna you know, you
may struggle a little bit, you may lose money the

(36:33):
first few years of doing it until you turn it around,
but you're right, the TV, the TV money is gonna
be key for them and how they they manage that
going forward. But golf is such a old school game.
Remember it's it's similar to to baseball a little bit
because it's it's a pastime that's gone on for years

(36:55):
and years and years, and they're you know, as much
as baseball, these unwritten rules about golf and all those
things which played into live you know, creating this is
that they wanted to kind of bring it into the
new century, and it's gonna take some time. It's gonna
take some time because everybody in golf, if you're a

(37:15):
golf enthusiast, now you know, Tiger came on the scene
and he brought so many people that didn't even know
anything about golf to start watching golf, and it was
the big boom for golf. But for years, people didn't
watch they didn't watch a whole lot of golf unless
it was the Masters, the US Open, or the British Open,
you know, one of the PGA, you know, one of
the four majors. But it took some time, and like

(37:38):
I said, Tiger got it, bursted on the scene and
helped it out. So's they're gonna have to have a
big splash with something that's going to help them boost
the television viewership. And you know, I think because they
have so much money behind them that they're not going anywhere. Yeah,
oh no, they'll stick around.

Speaker 1 (37:56):
But I don't know if the PGA really should worry
about even merging with them at this point.

Speaker 3 (38:00):
Why. Yeah. I don't mean anybody can't match looking good
or bad, right, And I thought it was, you know,
a little lack of class by certain individuals at Bethpage
Black in Long Island, for you know, for the Ryder Cup.
But it's it's you certain times you can't match that,

(38:23):
like the Phoenix Open, you can't match that. That is
a big staple in the in the PGA Tour, the Masters,
you can't match that. And maybe they find something equivalent
to that, because obviously we've seen them throw money at
it and it hasn't worked so far for the players
it has, but for the company not necessarily. So I
think they'll continue to try to get creative with it.

(38:44):
And like I said, they got deep pockets, so they'll
be okay. All right, So continue on Jose motive. Remember
that I'm just Dodgers Spanish radio team, and of course,
thus sports at LA uh Hill joined us.

Speaker 1 (39:02):
He's in Philadelphia. The Dodgers get ready for Game one
against the Affilies.
