Speaker 1 (00:00):
You have Tampa Bay with who has had over the years.
It's a model taken from I believe the you know,
the Oakland A's at the time Billy Bean, but the
Tampa Bay took it to a different level and they
were able to have success. And then they you know,
(00:20):
kind of are in the mix every other year or
every couple of years. They're in the mix, but they
don't have the resources to put them over the top
or to have that suctin sustained success. But when you
talk about the front office and the way they operate
and the way they handle things, they do it in
a very efficient way. They just can't keep guys and
(00:41):
the Dodgers. The difference is, and we've talked about this
and thrown this around, and even Andrew Freeman has said that,
and we've talked about that with him and Stan and
when we're talking about the Dodgers, is that that model
works to perfection now because it's the same thinking. But
yet now they have the resources to make it happen
(01:01):
and to keep guys.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
See and because of that and because they're built for
sustained success, they can commit to long term deals. But
they also have the guys on the pipeline to come
up and fill slots and grow. The Rangers made a
bad deal with Corey Seger. A great deal for Corey Seger,
a bad deal for them. The Rangers made a bad
(01:23):
deal with Marcus Simeon. A great deal for Marcus Simeon,
a bad deal for them. These long term deals come
back to bite you. We've argued over and over about this.
I'm gonna give you some contracts now, Rodney. Could these
be the worst for the club in Major League Baseball?
MANA Machano has eight years left, He's owed two hundred
and ninety eight million dollars thirty seven million a year.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
I gotta tell you, he's got eight years left on
that contract and he's over thirty signed.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
What a thirteen year deal happen thing at the time? Right, Yeah,
he's o thirty seven million dollars a year a year. Okay,
eight more years left on that deal.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
Trout has five years left to thirty seven million point
one dollars thirty seven million dollars. The Angels owe him
one hundred and eighty five million dollars. That's a terrible
deal for the Angels.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
Now.
Speaker 4 (02:14):
If you remember when the Padres went crazy.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
Xander Boguards has eight years left two hundred and four
million dollars. Corbyn Burns, who got hurt, has five years
left one hundred and seventy five million dollars. Aaron Nola
has five years left one hundred and twenty three million dollars.
Chris Bryant, Now, Chris Bryant, if he could walk, might
(02:41):
be okay. He is hurt constantly. Three years eighty one
million dollars left. I guarantee you that contract did not perform. Well,
how about our buddy Anthony Rendon?
Speaker 4 (02:53):
One year left? This is it?
Speaker 2 (02:55):
Ooh, thirty eight million dollars. Thirty eight million dollars. Guiden't played?
Speaker 3 (03:02):
Has he played thirty eight games for the Angels?
Speaker 2 (03:04):
Maybe he just paid a million a game for a
five year period of time. Steven Strasbourg, he's still pitching. No,
he's done thirty five million dollars. One year left. You Darvish,
America's all star.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
You Darvish?
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Three years left, forty six million dollars. Tanner Scott has
three Wait.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
You Darvis has got forty six a year for.
Speaker 4 (03:27):
The next three No, no total total?
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Oh, all right, Tanner Scott's got three years left, it'll
pay him fifty six million at the end. Anthony Sontandur
four years left, sixty nine million dollars. Brandon Nemo, just
trade it. Five years left, one hundred and two million dollars.
Let me see, Hobby Baiez, he's got two years left
(03:51):
for forty eight million.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
That's a bargain. That's Hobby Bias. Don't talk about Hobby.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
That's my man andras and men. We saw him during
the World Series. Four years left, eighty six million dollars.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
Whoo.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
Do you see the dangers of these long term contracts?
Do you understand the danger in committing large amounts of
money for a prolonged period of time. It does not work.
It is diminishing returns. So you say to me, well,
(04:29):
when is that going to hit with Mooky?
Speaker 4 (04:31):
I don't know. So far, so good.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
But it's also three rings. I think it's paid itself off.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
Okay, it's also the guys you're surrounded with. You see,
if you paid Mookie and nobody else, I gotta be
honest with you. The Dodgers aren't one of the World
Series like that. It's the whole team, and it's the
way they do it.
Speaker 4 (04:55):
Who they signed a long term Well that's the they.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
Of it, though, right Fred, You can't start signing to
long term deals unless you're being you're gonna be willing
to sign other guys to big deals like you can't.
You can't be Tampa Bay and think you're the Dodgers,
and and and so when you signed guys to those
(05:19):
ten year, three hundred million dollar deals, you know, it's
it's it's still a team sport, and you've got to
have guys around them to make it work.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
I remember the you know when they did that deal.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
Back and I just I just watched that doc with
them with Alex Rodriguez, a Rod versus Alex, and you know,
they signed him to the biggest deal in sports history
with that two hundred and fifty million dollar deal that
he signed with Texas. But they couldn't put anything around him.
They had nothing to put around him. And quite as kep,
(05:53):
those years that he had in Texas were incredible. I
think he won an MVP one of those years. But
he was hitting fifty home runs back to back to
back seasons and driving in one hundred plus home RBIs
and they could not win any games. And so you
can't start that process and start committing those big dollars
(06:14):
to those big contracts unless you're gonna put some guys
around them. And that's where it becomes very glaring and
just idiotic. When you look up and you see guys
from certain teams there's only two guys getting paid, and
people wonder why they can't win. They wonder why they
can't win because you can't surround them. The Dodgers are
able to do it. Look at the Dodgers and how
(06:34):
many guys they got, big money guys they got on
the team. They've been able to surround themselves with those contracts.
Other teams and other clubs can't do it. It may
be splashy, oh yeah, we used to sign them to
the big old deal. Yeah, but who else is playing
around him? Nobody? Same thing, you know, Corey Seker, Cory
Seeker put him on his back to get to the
(06:56):
World Series. Now, they had a pretty good team rolling
at that time, but it was Corey Seeger who was
the MVP of the World Series. Not only that, he
was a World Series MVP with the Dodgers before he
went to Texas, and so he is a phenomenal player.
I still think he's got three to five years left,
don't you think fred or No?
Speaker 3 (07:16):
Good year? Cory Segers good year, Corey Seeger.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
I think Corey Seeger's got at least three good years left, Yes,
I do.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
I think he's got solid years, not good ones. I
think we've seen the good. I think we're not a
solid That's what I think we're at right now.
Speaker 4 (07:35):
Solid.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
We're not going to see a thirty plus hundred RBI
guy anymore, is what you're saying.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
That short stuff.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
I think it's a long shot. Could be wrong. I
think it's a long shot. I think we've seen the
best and it worked for them. They got one. But
now what do you do?
Speaker 3 (07:49):
Man?
Speaker 4 (07:50):
Now what do you do? You know, what you do?
You move them?
Speaker 1 (07:52):
And that's what they're trying to do, like they did
with a Rod. You know, it's like, Okay, we're five
years in, he's MVP caliber, but we got nothing around them,
and so what do you do? Then you start rebuilding?
That was Oh we got to rebuild. Well, I mean
you're gotta just go through the visits cycle again.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
All n't you?
Speaker 4 (08:10):
Yeah? Exactly.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
You think Pittsburgh and Paul Skans, what do they do?
Speaker 2 (08:15):
See you later he's gone. When he's up, he's gone.
They got to rebuild. That's what I'm talking about. Sustained success,
That's what I'm talking about. And again, sustained success may
not mean you win the World Series. Sustained success could
be you know what, this is all we got to
work with. We're in the playoffs every year. That could
be sustained success. We're in the playoffs. Yeah, we want
(08:37):
to win it all, but I mean there's a reality
associated with this. We just don't have the kind of capital.
And when you get to the playoffs, really in the
big games, you want the veteran guys that can play
well you can.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
Then you can't start the process. You can't sign guys
to begin with.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
You can't.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
You got you gotta go Oakland A's route. You gotta
go Tampa Bay route. You gotta hope for the best
with the small salaries and the young players on the
club control, and hopefully you can you can hit it
big because at some point they're all gonna leave. They
all got to leave. It's a business. So don't start
the process with signing one guy. If you if you
(09:17):
don't think you can sign multiple guys, you can't start
the process.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
Okay, Lakers and Clippers. Last night, I told you what
was gonna happen. I'm a profit I'm a Southsayer.
Speaker 3 (09:34):
Oh yeah, that was a stretch.
Speaker 4 (09:35):
Yeah, salt A l joined us next.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
Oh yeah, let's keep it moving.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
On a Wednesday, a hump day, a day before that
turkey comes and invites himself into your oven and then
into your belly. Fred, let's go, Roddy Pete, Fred Rogan?
Come on, are you big eater on Thanksgiving?
Speaker 3 (10:27):
Fred? Do you take it all in? Do you get everybody? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (10:30):
Yeah, oh yeah, I take it all in. I take
it all in.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
Rodney, Yeah yeah, loosen those pants and just say I'm
gonna go for it today.
Speaker 4 (10:39):
Why not?
Speaker 5 (10:40):
This turkey's been stuffed all right.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
That's enough out of you. You know what?
Speaker 2 (10:45):
That is so unnecessary? Saw Ta jumps in here, Adam,
how are you?
Speaker 5 (10:50):
I'm doing? Okay? Happy Blackout Wednesday or whatever they call it,
because this is the time of the season where all
the kids get together that are back from college and
they visit and they go out to bars and they
make fools of themselves and hopefully get home safely.
Speaker 2 (11:05):
Well, you know, my friend, longtime family friend, Chayana is here.
I know Sean who works at Fox Sports Radio as well.
Speaker 5 (11:11):
As soon as I saw him here, reminded me of
what tonight is.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
Yeah, and you know what he just told me. He
walked in said hello, he goes. I said, what are
you doing?
Speaker 3 (11:18):
Man?
Speaker 2 (11:18):
He goes, I'm going over to the house and seeing Josh.
You go over to see our son right now?
Speaker 3 (11:22):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (11:22):
There we go.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
So I think it's going to start this afternoon, probably
around one thirty.
Speaker 5 (11:26):
Yeah, it's real Luca and Austin Reeves situation.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
Yeah, you guys means started Fred? What does that mean?
Speaker 5 (11:32):
I'm gonna put up numbers tonight.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
They're going to get to it, and you guys wait
for me at three. All right, I'll come hang with you. Cool,
that's right.
Speaker 4 (11:39):
I'm one of the guys.
Speaker 5 (11:40):
I know, Fred. You'll catch up real quick with whatever
ABV they're at.
Speaker 4 (11:45):
That's not gonna be a problem, all right.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
So Adam last night, and again you know, I'm not
I told you this whole guy. I don't believe in that.
I just don't, but I certainly and Rodney going into
the break that was unnecessary.
Speaker 4 (11:58):
I told you what was gonna happen last night.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
Yeah, Rode.
Speaker 5 (12:01):
Anybody who says, I'm not that guy, I never pat
myself on the back pats himself on the backs of
the point they're breaking their arm, like you're about to.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
I ever tell you the story about this guy, and
I'm not going to use a name. The name is irrelevant,
because I don't want to embarrass anybody.
Speaker 4 (12:15):
He was a well.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
Known comedian and for a period of time he was
on some pretty big TV shows. Now, if you saw
him walking around the street, you wouldn't really recognize him, right,
And he never thought anybody really knew him.
Speaker 4 (12:27):
So every time.
Speaker 5 (12:29):
You're talking about Dane Cook, he was pretty big for
a little bit.
Speaker 4 (12:31):
No names please.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
So anytime, anytime this guy, you'd be introduced to him,
and I was introduced to him many times. He'd always say,
I'm his name, I'm a comedian. Every time he would
go I'm whoever, I'm a comedian.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
He said, that's how he would introduce himself to you
or anybody, anybody.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
Hi, if this guy walks out the street, Yeah, Hi,
I'm I'm a comedian.
Speaker 5 (12:58):
This is how I define myself. This is my identity.
I'm That puts a lot of pressure on yourself.
Speaker 4 (13:02):
Well, here's the.
Speaker 2 (13:03):
Thing at Garvin male prostitute remember that, you go, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (13:09):
But here's the thing.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
I'm too young for that.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
Oh yeah, that was hilarious with the garter belts. Here's
the thing. If you're a comedian, do you need to
tell people you're funny or should you just not be funny?
You see what I'm saying? Hi, Fred Rogan, doctor, Well
you should wait to what they You know, if they
ask you, hey, what do you do for a living?
What do you do a what do you what do
you do for work? And then you can tell them.
(13:33):
But to lead with that, yeah, that's a little Fred.
Speaker 5 (13:36):
You've never led with Hi, Fred Rogan, win bag, you
never done that?
Speaker 4 (13:44):
No salty AI have Note.
Speaker 5 (13:46):
The hot air is emanating from my voice right now.
Speaker 4 (13:51):
All right, So anyway, it kind of went as scripted
last night.
Speaker 5 (13:54):
No, Yeah, Lakers are better. When you have the three
best players on the court, you're probably gonna win the
ball game. Luca, Austin Reeves and Lebron James. They all
performed and took over at different points. I mean that
first quarter from Luka Donciic with twenty four and starting
five of five from the outside and I'm having flashbacks.
Speaker 3 (14:14):
You're done.
Speaker 5 (14:15):
How many times do I have to see this against
the Clippers. This is why we were so upset when
Nico Harrison, in particular, Clippers fans were upset when Nico
Harrison made that trade because nobody has had to deal
with Luka Doncic more in the playoffs than the Clippers.
They played them three different times, so we know what
he's capable of. And he's very comfortable and gets up
for playing the Clippers because they beat him the first
(14:36):
two times he was in the playoffs, so he loves
torturing them. He did so on the first quarter. Now
what was interesting was he actually, even with his twenty
four points, the Lakers were down by one heading into
the second. The Clippers somehow were able to absorb that
blow from Luka Doncic and find a way. They were
only down by three and a half. They were only
(14:58):
down by five heading into the fourth, and then the
floodgates opened. They couldn't score. They were getting beat on
back door cuts left and right. Austin Reeves had eighteen
points in the fourth quarter. So you have a game
that's book ended by Luke on the first quarter going
for twenty four and then Austin Reeves having eighteen points
on the fourth quarter, And right now they're the better
team obviously, and the Clippers don't have enough firepower against them. Guys,
(15:22):
if James Harden is not out there on the court,
they are getting cooked more than Fred's turkey is going
to be. Like this is okay, let me put it
this way. So when James Harden is out on the floor,
all right, the Clippers are getting one hundred and nineteen
points per one hundred possessions. That would be like a
top five offensive rating in the league. They are a
(15:42):
very good offense when he's out there. When James Harden's
off the floor, they got an offensive rating of one
oh one, that would be worse than the Washington Wizards,
the worst offensive rating in the league. So you have
these wild swings where you can't score at all without
one player in James Harden.
Speaker 4 (16:00):
Yeah, well that tells me two things.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
Yeah, what does that say that he is?
Speaker 1 (16:04):
You don't win unless James Harden not only plays but
plays well well.
Speaker 5 (16:10):
He has played well so far this season, but he
can't play forty eight minutes. And to be honest, he
has slowed down at the end of games at times
because he has to do too much. So the team
that we thought was gonna have all this death this
summer with having CP three back, Who I know, he's forty.
He had a good year last year with San Antonio,
played next to Wemby. He was really good out there.
He was starting games. Hey, this is perfect. He's gonna
(16:32):
back up James Harden. Now they used to play together
in Houston. Well, that unfortunately has not turned out well.
CP three looks like he's gotten older. Overnight he announced
this will be his final season. He will retire after
this year. No surprise there. Brook Lopez played over thirty
minutes per game last season next to honest Dennakopo. Pretty
good defense still with Milwaukee. Brook Lopez only two years
removed from being second in Defensive Player of the Year voting.
Speaker 4 (16:55):
What happened.
Speaker 5 (16:55):
Looks like he got all overnight. Looks like it's over.
That's that's where the Lakers actually hit on guys this
offseason with DeAndre Ayton, with Marcus Smart and the Clippers
guys unfortunately are well underperforming and look like they have
aged tremendously, which was always the concern. It was like
(17:15):
a ticking time bomb coming into the season. At what
point are a lot of these guys just gonna get
too old? Because they have the oldest team in NBA history.
If you look at average age, I think it's thirty
three points six years of age in a league that
keeps getting younger by the way, in a league that's
playing faster now. So at the worst time to be
old in the NBA. The Clippers are with the pace
(17:36):
of play out there, with the tempo, and not only
are they old by average age, they are old by
the eye test right now with how guys are playing.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
Yeah, on the other hand, when you look at the Lakers, now, you.
Speaker 5 (17:48):
Always got to get to the Lakers right away. On
the other hand, we check out the Lakers.
Speaker 3 (17:54):
You want to keep beating up the Clippers at them?
I don't understand.
Speaker 4 (17:56):
I mean we beat them up?
Speaker 5 (17:57):
What do you want to get point onto the Lakers?
Speaker 2 (18:00):
I mean, trust me, I think you've said more than
enough about the Clippers today because there's.
Speaker 4 (18:05):
Not a lot left to say. But as for the Lakers,
are they legit?
Speaker 5 (18:11):
What do you mean by to qualify it? Define legit?
Speaker 4 (18:13):
They got a shot to win the West.
Speaker 5 (18:16):
Not if okse he's healthy. Now there's another shoe that
could drop with this Lakers team. Though, what everyone keeps
forgetting is they have not reached their final form. I
don't just mean with experience with Luca, with Lebron, with
Austin Reeves. I mean that trade that was nixed last
season by them because of the injury report with Mark
(18:38):
Williams where they gave up a first round pick and
Dalton connect. They still have a war chest that they
could make another big move with. That's what's interesting about
this season. First of all, we saw the Lakers blow
out part of the bus family on Friday, right with
Mark Walter, you know, putting his footprint or his imprint
on this organization. I think rop Polinka is under a
(19:00):
lot of pressure, and I think if you're the Lakers,
you're like, Okay, how much turnover do we want with
this new ownership group. Who stays, who goes? And do
we trust rop Linka enough to have the ability to
make this one big move during this season? If they
feel like the Lakers are a piece away and right now,
(19:23):
you could probably make the argument they're thirteen and four,
they get that piece. Maybe they are in the inner circle.
Maybe they can match up well enough with Okac. If
Lebron stays healthy. He's about to turn forty one. That
is a really big decision to make, and you're.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
Gonna let Rock make make that.
Speaker 5 (19:41):
I think it's another two way guy. Everybody keeps talking
about Andrew Wiggins. We've been talking about it for a year.
He would fit really nicely. He's playing well for the
Miami Heat. The problem is do they want to get
rid of him right now? What do you have to
give up? You're gonna give up Ruey Hachimura and gave
Benson back to Miami and a first round pick, Like
what is it going to take to get him? And
are you gonna have to wait for Miami to cool
(20:03):
off a little bit? So they feel like we can
be sellers. So how far into the season are you
going to get before deciding whether or not to make
that move now? The good thing is they got a
margin for error right now because they're thirteen and four.
By the way, if you look at offensive rating, defensive rating,
net rating the Lakers have they're fourteenth in net rating,
(20:23):
yet they have a top five record in the league,
like nobody else is such an outlier you look at
all the teams next to them, and you're scratching your head, like,
how are they thirteen to four their tenth offensively? I
think they're fifteenth defensively. They look pretty average in both areas.
Yet they're thirteen and four. Well, they're six to oh
(20:47):
in games decided by five points, last five minutes of
a game within five points described as clutch time. Technically
that's a stat now in NBA dot com. They haven't
lost in close games. Now last night did not get
that late in the fourth quarter. They pulled away from
the Clippers. But I don't know if they are as
good as their record would indicate right now. It's my point,
(21:09):
but again, they can still make that big move for
one more player. Should they decide to go all in
with this group because they feel like they're really close?
Speaker 2 (21:18):
And let me ask a quick question about the game
last night. Oh no, no, the floor. People were complaining
about the floor.
Speaker 5 (21:26):
It was a slipping slide out there. You get the
Crocodile Mile for your kids. You run, you slide, you
hit a bump and take a ride.
Speaker 3 (21:34):
Yeah, I mean, was it dangerous? Childhood going on? Right?
Speaker 5 (21:38):
I'm getting nostalgic here, Where are the Super soakers, like,
I think it's really dangerous. I saw Kawhi slip like
it was one of those Ebom's World videos or something
like that from back in the day and fall on
his face. Luka Dancis took a spill, Ruby Haschimora And
there may have been another factor there because the La
(21:59):
Kings just played late last night, so it makes it
even worse or exacerbates the situation there specifically at Staples
now Crypto. But yeah, Luca complained about a post game
and guys have been complaining about it because the issue
is there's no real way to fix it because they're
bringing in these new courts, new paint, nobody's played on them.
Yet they need they need some wreck teams to go
(22:20):
out there and break it in, like as like it's
a it's a catcher's mit or something like. They have
to find a way because I'll tell you what if
if one guy gets hurt and it's because of the
court and he slips on one of these new logos
they put out there, the NBA is going to have
a real problem on their hands, and everybody's gonna say,
you put all this money into this Emirates Cup just
so you can have more injuries in the NBA, which
(22:42):
we'll get into a little bit later. But yeah, it's
a problem.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
Yeah, whitn't He suggests that it's the problem of the Yeah,
the court, you know, wanting to make this big splash
and visuals and all that, as opposed to, oh, well
the King's played there. There might be some wet spots,
maybe some cold spots because they've been.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
Doing that for years.
Speaker 1 (23:01):
But there's more and more slipping falls, you know, in
the last what two weeks than there's been throughout the
whole season.
Speaker 5 (23:09):
Yeah, it's not a great look if while the NBA
is being investigated and certain players are by the FBI,
and then somebody slips on a fan duel logo and
breaks their leg on the court, Like, yeah, that wouldn't
be the best look for the league right now? I
would say, so, you know, so far, so good luckily,
(23:30):
but my goodness, I see Kawhi out there with his
injury history. I'm just holding my breath every time. You
do so much with product placement and you're trying to
make this in season tournament Emirates Cup into something different,
and to their credit, I think it has worked to
a degree. Because the bar is just make it more
interesting than games typically are in November in early December
(23:51):
in the NBA. And to that point it works. You
got that yellow court out there. You can tell something
different is going on. And we'll see years forward if
the thing really worked. But the danger to the athletes
should be you know that health concern should be paramount here.
And if anybody gets hurt, Adam Silver has a catastrophe
on his hands, a bigger one.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
All right, Adam, thanks for hanging out here. Come back
after the top of the hour. We'll talk about those injuries.
Speaker 5 (24:17):
All right, we'll see, we'll see.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
Ever go to a restaurant by yourself, take yourself out
to eat. Yeah, there's one country you're not doing that,
and we'll talk about it.
Speaker 1 (24:58):
Yeah, Today's afternoon Delight is the Perfect World by the
Kid Larroi. The song is the first single off the
South wales native's forthcoming album entitled Before I Forget, which
(25:20):
will debut on January ninth, and a statement about the
upcoming project, he wrote, I made this album in the
last four months. I had a whole other album that
I was completed, but I scrapped it started again from
scratch with the exception of one song. It's my favorite
thing I've ever made. It's also the most personal thing
(25:41):
I've ever made. I hope that it resonates with you
in some way because it means a hell of a
lot to me. I love you and thank you for
supporting me always. Kid Laroi Again, Today's Afternoon Delight is
the Perfect World by the kid Laroi and Afternoon Delight
is brought to you by Fantasy Springs Resort Casino, a
(26:03):
premiere Palm Springs gaming destination. Right now call her number
four to eight sixty six nine eight seven two five seventy.
Well when they two nights hotel, stay, dinner for two
at Palm and golf for two at Eagle Falls Golf
Course at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
Okay, So if you listen to motivational podcasts or even
eve to talk to a therapist, and by the way,
that's a good thing, right you have somebody to talk
to work things out. Anyway, I think most people would say,
rather than sit in your house by yourself, treat yourself,
be good to you, take yourself out to eat once
(26:42):
in a while.
Speaker 4 (26:43):
There's no shame in that.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
As a matter of fact, get you out of the house,
get you around people. Sure you might not be sitting
with anybody, but.
Speaker 3 (26:50):
You can do that. Have you ever done that? Are
you a guy that does that?
Speaker 1 (26:53):
Likes to go out to eat by himself from time
to time, or oh yeah, just to drive or do
whatever something solo?
Speaker 3 (26:59):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (26:59):
No, people sometimes might look at you, going why is
he why is he alone?
Speaker 3 (27:03):
Right?
Speaker 4 (27:03):
Go out to eat?
Speaker 2 (27:04):
I did all the time of Channel four because we'd
finished at six thirty, lived in Calabasas, back and forth
every night.
Speaker 4 (27:11):
Did not work.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
You know, it's forty five minutes there, it's forty five
minutes back, and it's forty five minutes there again. So yeah,
I'd go out a smoke house, same table every night,
just sit there, eat and go back to work. So
it's a healthy thing, Rodney. It's a good thing unless
you live in South Korea. If you live in South Korea,
it is not a good thing. As a matter of fact,
(27:35):
there is a restaurant there that turns away solo diners
just I want to go in sit down. The other
night I saw somebody at a restaurant having a bowl
of pasta and a glass of wine by themselves. Not
waiting for anybody. It was great and that person really
looked like they were having a good time. The thing
is this, they do not want you by yourself. They claim,
(27:58):
we don't sell loneliness. That's not what we made. Yeah,
we don't sell loneliness. So there's a poster if you
walk into the restaurant, because you're four options. Pretty easy.
Number one, if you come by yourself, you got to
pay for two servings. So that's like I went to
the smokehouse and either two prime ribs. You didn't show up,
(28:19):
but I still have to order for you. Number two,
I have to eat two servings. Okay, well I've ordered both.
Now you didn't show up, I'm gonna eat two pieces
of prime rib. Number three before you walk and call
a friend and see if the friend will come with you.
And if a friend won't come with you, you can't
come in. Number four, come back with your wife next time.
(28:42):
We don't sell loneliness. Please don't come alone.
Speaker 1 (28:45):
Yeah, but that's a state of mind. That's something that
nobody else can determine. Just because you eat alone doesn't
mean you're lonely, So who are they to say you're
lonely or it's about loneliness in essence, you just feel time.
Speaker 3 (29:02):
I need to be by myself.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
Don't sell loneliness that is that is speaking for someone else.
Speaker 3 (29:09):
I don't like it.
Speaker 4 (29:10):
It's awful.
Speaker 2 (29:11):
I mean, how many people listening now, take yourself out,
just go by yourself. I think it's a very healthy
thing to do.
Speaker 3 (29:19):
I do.
Speaker 1 (29:20):
And you see more and more, even high end restaurants nowadays,
you know there will be a bar area where you
can order at the bar, order full menu at the bar.
Used to be where it was just drinks and maybe
some orders, some appetites maybe, But now you know a
lot of places have full menus at the bar. So
if you come up and you want to sit at
(29:42):
the bar solo, you can order a full meal.
Speaker 3 (29:44):
There's nothing wrong with that.
Speaker 1 (29:46):
And I get to turning over tables and two and
four peoples better than one at a table because of
the tips and you know, all that kind of stuff.
They want to make sure the tables are maximized. But
but if a guy wants to come in and eat
and a woman wants to come in and eat by themselves,
give them a table.
Speaker 2 (30:05):
I got no problem with it. I actually think it's insulting.
We don't sell loneliness. Yeah, what an awful thing to say. Yeah,
just because you're not with somebody, By the way, it
doesn't mean you're you're lonely.
Speaker 3 (30:16):
No, not at all, not at all. I've done it.
Speaker 1 (30:20):
I go, I go eat sometimes if I feel like,
oh man, I'd like a steak tonight, you know, down
the street and go get a go get a sit
at the bar and eat a steak and have my
meal and feel good about it. I'd even I even
not so much anymore, but I used to recently, I
used to go to uh. I used to go to
(30:40):
movies by myself. Like if I was a movie coming
out and I really wanted to see. I missed it
when it first came out, and I've been just putting
it off, putting it off. And I find out that
I got some time in my hands. I feel more
than happy and more than comfortable going to a movie theater,
grabbing my popcorn and a hot dog or whatever, and
sitting there white to that movie by myself.
Speaker 3 (31:02):
I'm all good with that. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (31:04):
And it's interesting we talk about this on Thanksgiving.
Speaker 3 (31:10):
You're supposed to be surrounded by people.
Speaker 2 (31:12):
Yeah, yeah, well even if you're not surrounded by people,
at the very least, you know you can take care
of yourself. I'm wondering, Adam, I'm going to able to
phone lines if anybody wants to talk about this on
the other side. Eight six six nine eighty seven two
five seventy. Yeah, you take yourself out, You treat yourself.
Speaker 3 (31:30):
Treat yourself.
Speaker 2 (31:31):
You feel badly if you do that. If you just
take yourself out, how often do you do it? And
what do you think about when you see other people
sitting there by themselves? You feel bad for them? Oh,
there's nobody that would go with them?
Speaker 4 (31:44):
Or do you go?
Speaker 2 (31:44):
That's pretty cool, that's pretty cool. They're out here and
enjoying their life. So if anybody calls on the other side,
we'll talk about it. Eight six six nine eighty seven
two five seventy. Also, I we'll get more into NBA
(32:05):
injuries and then then Bultch is going to join us
and he will defend the rose ball once again.
